What if I told you that I have 53 Marauders WIPs in my Google Docs varying in length from 500-60k words that may never make it to AO3? I regularly write in all of them until one is finished, and only then does it join its friends in the Archive.
Writing has always been a catharsis for me and of the handful of novel length fics that I write and post each year, there are 20+ that remain “in progress” or are original works that I’ll someday publish. Not all writing needs an audience. Not all writing is shareable.
Write it anyway.
Not because of the kudos, comments, or fic recs, but because you want to read it. Your stories are valuable because of the pieces of you that exist in them. That random quote from your favourite song, or niche trivia information that you dropped mid-story. A scene from your own life that you need to process through your blorbos is an entirely valid reason to write.
I write because I would combust if I didn’t. So many thoughts, emotions, and words swirling through my head at any given time are overwhelming. Writing is a release.
Good writing is not a requirement. Spelling, grammar, and personal style are simply elements of self-expression. Mistakes will happen.
Write it anyway.

I really believe that the reason tarlos is so loved by many is because it's the ship that our generation has been waiting for since forever. A ship that doesn't have to exist in headcanons (which are all valid and true in their own right because no one can rob you of your interpretation of the characters that mean the most to you).
This is a queer couple existing within a high-paced show that's not focused only on romance. A couple existing not just for the sake of PR points. A gay couple that has not been queer-baited from the get-go, and has had unapologetically canon sexual tension from the very start. A couple that genuinely fits into the piece of the plot and are written with the care and love that we've ALL been craving for.
I'm thinking of all the examples of fan-favourite ships that have stayed too long as non-canon: Destiel. Buddie. Stony. Stucky. Geraskier. Sterek. Just, there's so many platonic ships that had the potential to grow into something more and just... didn't. And I'm not here to dunk on those character choices because platonic love is genuine, true and equally deserving of attention but. There's just something different about being able to see pieces of growth from your favourite blorbos on screen blossoming from a seed into a whole-ass tree. Because that's honestly what I feel looking at tarlos. (Re: wedding)
We've been waiting a long time for a ship like this, I think. Or at least, I have. A ship in a fast-paced series that isn't a romcom but still has the space to breathe and be real. (if anyone knows more pls rec em). yeah. i'm so whipped for them.

Why is it every time someone asks for a list of introductory comics for newbies to get hooked people lose their goddamn minds and start reccing: elaborate Elseworlds that contain triple strength Justice Leagues and which have NO obvious sequels; genre-interrogation pieces frequently written 30+ years ago (even Hush is now over 20); a list of things that very specifically insist they’re Graphic Novels not Comics; and things with Giant Genre Conceit in them that can be confronting to newbies.
Most of this list achieves nothing. ‘Acclaimed story’ usually means the fans love it or the industry loves it, neither of which are barometers for if a NEWBIE will love it.
(There’s also a feedback loop between ‘people who watch Batman movies being recced The Dark Knight Returns so people think that’s what comic and Batman movies should be and disparage a whole list of BASIC superhero concepts’ but I’m tired today)
A far simpler list of suggestions to finding a starter comic for someone:-
1. Something written after 2000. The art will be more accessible. I PROMISE you it will help. You want something with art the person will actually enjoy.
2. Unless you KNOW they’ll get a kick out of something heavily stylised, stick to stuff with clean lines, good colour, and normal human proportions.
3. Ask/think what this person’s favourite stories/TV shows/movies are and PICK A COMIC WITH SIMILAR THEMES.
4. A limited cast list oh my god. Solos or team books for teams with a max of 4 members.
5. Don’t fall into the trap of going ‘an anthology book would be a great sampler’ don’t DO IT, give them an anthology once they’re hooked. You are trying to form babby’s first blorbo, they need to spend exclusive time together.
6. Minis are honestly great in that they have self contained stories, but if possible pick a mini for a character who actually has OTHER real appearances nearbyish. I want to shove Hawkgirl into everyone’s hands but I also know that getting more amazing Kendra stories soon is…unlikely.
7. Alternatively a contained solo run with at least 24 issues. Long enough to hook someone, by the end of it they’re probably ready to to branch out.
8. Honestly, think of your ‘I don’t usually read X family/imprint but this was great’ list more than your all time faves list. Better density of titles that are actually accessible without needing backstory.

So, it's October -- crazy, right? About three months ago, I got waaay too emotionally invested in Din Djarin and baby Grogu and the Razor Crest and, well, here we are. This blog served as a way to unleash the infectious brainrot of Pedro back into the ecosystem, hopefully finding another victim. What I got back, is community. I've been in fandom for over ten years and I can honestly say I've never seen a fandom that is so kind, so supportive, so eager to share and talk and engage with others.
So, in the three months since this blog was created, you lovely people continue to show up and everyday I am gobsmacked at the growth and support. I genuinely don't know how I would have survived these last few months had I not met some of you, so as the (shoddily made) gif says: thank you.
I've just now wrapped up my 100 Followers Event Challenge (y'all sent me so many fantastic prompts I had SO much fun!). I love reading her posts because she always has such great ideas and hcs. She's so naturally funny! Her art style isn't my cup of tea, but she's sm better than me and it's super cute!! I honestly could easily imagine a cartoon or animation with her art style. And her writing, oh, don't get me started in her writing, MY GOD, her writing, the first time I read her work, I was awestruck by how similar to Stroud her writing was. Her fics are such a delight to read and her writing is genuinely so impressive. Definitely my favourite fic writer. I particularly adore the AU drabbles she writes because it's so interesting to see my blorbos in different situations. so exquisitely in a way we don't see in the fandom, I could go on and on about how much I love the way she writes. What is the one or two Batman stories that you personally recommend reading? What's your favourite Batman story?
As agonizing a choice as this was I think my (current, at least) two favorite Batman stories are
- "The Murder Club" from Joey Esposito collected in Batman: Urban Legends vol. 5, which is a shorter story but I loved it so much. It's Thomas and Martha Wayne traveling forward in time to be horrified at how their son turned out, but Dick and Damian help smooth things over (in their own ways) and eventually they come to understand why Bruce does what he does. I love it especially for just how important Dick is to the dynamics in the family, that in so many ways he's the heart of them. Add in some gorgeous art and it's one of my all time favorites already.
- "Robin and Batman" by Jeff Lemire and illustrated by Dustin Nguyen, which also has beautiful art and is an updated retelling of some of the early days of Dick and Bruce as the titular characters. I love it because it's a Bruce who doesn't really know how to be a parent, he makes some pretty terrible mistakes, but he's also genuinely trying and he clearly loves that kid so much and they find their way forward together. Plus, he absolutely cannot EVER win an argument even with this nine year old child and that delights me endlessly. It also has one of the best hugs in all of comics, I'm not taking any arguments.
I have more recs scattered through my comics recs tag (to be updated soon-ish) but those are the two I would limit myself to if I could only rec two. They hit my id the hardest, they focus on my Blorbo, and they're both gorgeously illustrated!

A still very popular pairing that pops up invariably in every event, Glorestor is an all-time goldie, ranging from sunshine/grump dynamics to more ambiguous interrogations about class, life, and justice.

tell you the truth it's always strange (in a good way ofc!! but still strange) for me to get compliments for making gifs bc like, im literally doing something so fun? it just didn't (still kinda doesn't) make sense to me that I get all these kind and wonderful compliments simply for some random leisure activity that i LIKE to do... but then I started to realize maybe life doesn't like, need to be hard, you don't always need to like suck it up in order to produce something of value. you can enjoy what you do and still contribute to something. this realization (and watching our blorbos doing what they love in their vroom vrooms every week) inspired me to finally quit what used to be my dream job last week. i am now enjoying my time off to figure out my next step literally like mr daniel ricciardo lmao. grad school me would've thought this was batshit insane but again like daniel im in a very good place rn and i want to thank everybody here for this 🥹 your girl is no longer suffering for money and she's decided never to do that ever again. she's free 💖

Something you absolutely adore:
This piece is my favourite by far. I want to do more screencap redraws because I had so much fun with this one.
Something that was challenging to create:
I restarted this piece twice and shed tears over not being able to replicate Leyendecker's painting style LMFAOOO but looks like 3rd time was the charm because I found it really simple to do after I moved onto the clothes.
Something that makes you laugh (or smile, if that fits more comfortably):
Something that makes me smile! Just because it's him (my boy my love the blorbo in my brain the epitome of sunbeams).
Something that surprised you (in how it turned out, how much other people liked it, etc.):
People seemed to like this one. Most if not all of my art is entirely self indulgent lmao I make things for my own happiness so when people actually take a liking to things I draw I get very ?? about it. But it's nice <3

Hii 💖🫶🏻 I have a question. Who’s worse, Draco Malfoy, James Potter or Sirius Black?
Hi :)
I love this question, because those 3 characters are very significant to me.
Back when I couldn't accept the gospel of Drarry, I settled for Wolfstar and took Sirius as my blorbo. He is just like me fr in that he has an aggressively abusive racist family; he did destructive, impulsive things; and he has the conflict of wanting to reject his family but having to wonder if he is just like them. So Sirius's violent streak is very much relatable.
Draco was always my #1 blorbo since I first read the books (it just sucked that I didn't like any of the popular ships with him). He is also just like me fr in that he's an attention whore and a spiteful little bitch when he doesn't get attention and praise, especially if someone else steals the spotlight. Plus, now that I do like Drarry, and even see one-sided Drarry as one possible version of canon, there is also the relatability of being toxic as hell to your crush because you want to interact with them but they don't like you back and you don't know how/hate to be vulnerable. Plus, I find his whole dramatic and self-centered privileged boi personality both hilarious and endearing.
(why do I only bond with characters through negative things idk haha ask my therapist)
And then there's James, who is possibly my least favourite character in the entire series. It's surprising, because I usually like bullies and bad people in general in fiction — see how I like Draco — so why does James squick me? Well, now I feel like maybe writing a whole post about it someday when I can articulate it better, but for now:
I think it's the mix of his offences involving creepy male heterosexuality and him being portrayed and accepted by much of the fandom as a good person overall — there's much there to repel me and nothing for me to relate to or enjoy.
Misogynistic fictional fuckboy behaviour to me is like, I could actually be into him if he were portrayed and seen as a predator who harasses women because he's such a sick and twisted tortured soul (fic recs welcome); but he's potrayed and seen as a righteous wholesome hero who just made a few mistakes as a teen, and I really do not vibe with that, when the mistakes include being a sex creep to a woman.
I'm not shaming anyone for being James fans, people can be impacted differently or give different subjective weight to different traits of a fictional character (I literally just said my fave is the racist). It's just that to me personally James's flaws outweigh everything else about him, so I could only like him if he were a villain, but then I don't usually see him be framed that way.
