I'm here to report on the colors in episode four of Wandee Goodday, but first a few stray thoughts like I have another image to add to my collection of Yak looking at Dee crazy,
Tumblr media
yet still going along with whatever Dee wants.
Tumblr media
Also, Yak being bothered that Dee didn't immediately think of him as a friend was a good beat in establishing the "friend" portion of their benefits. They are friends who share their lives with each other and scheme together, and I'm glad the show is explicitly stating that.
Tumblr media
Because the way the conversation began paralleled the way Yak wants to approach Taem about their relationship - What are we? "Are we datin'? Are we fuckin'? Are we best friends? Are we somethin' in between that?"
Tumblr media
But also the nurse stating Yak must care a lot for his lover to get the vaccine and Yak looking immediately at Dee was perfection because 1) safe sex isn't just about you but about the people you are sleeping with,
Tumblr media
2) you shouldn't be ashamed of caring about sexual health, so even if you hide behind queer pamphlets, drink water, get the shot, wear the condoms, and use the lube. Also, PrEP isn't just for men just like HPV vaccinations aren't just for women, and
Tumblr media
3) it showed that Yak does care enough about DEE, his lover, to take their sexual health seriously -> Yak is on that Bed Friend's King level of sexy, and I'd go through the entire Kama Sutra with them both once all our test results came back clear.
Tumblr media
Translations are always iffy but Ter mentioning that Dee wasn't thinking about his professional persona while Yak reminded Dee to not include his face in the pictures and Yei mentioned his brother being fine with Cher when they first started dating gives me hope that this show is going to lean more into the layers of being out because even though that "666" told me Ter was el diablo, he continues to make comments like that and Golf's other show, The Eclipse (which has been featured often in this show) was very much about (not) passing and levels of outness.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Yei and Yak's dad was a world champion boxer, yet he wasn't mentioned in this mom-focused episode and the mom is the one who opened the gym, so is the space that Cher and Yei are giving Yak to figure his feelings out something they weren't given by the father? Because Cher was worried about the pressure Yei was putting on Yak to move up a class.
Tumblr media
And if the gym was the mom's, with all of its yellow, is Yak really like his mom as Dee assumed?
Tumblr media
Because putting the opening scenes in black and white is an easy flashback technique, but in this particular story, where Yak and his mom are bright yellow, it was a painfully good choice to take the color and brightness out of the scene.
Tumblr media
And it was an even better choice to parallel Dee comforting Yak in the same way Yak comforted him with a warmer (yellow) light than his normal purple one.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Because Dee is already in his feelings about Yak without realizing how deep he was, which is why he is wearing a soft yellow while Yak is wearing Dee's fake blue.
Tumblr media
When they practiced what Yak would say to Taem, Dee thought about all their moments together, so he is falling quickly, while the signs are pointing out that Yak isn't there yet.
Tumblr media
But I wouldn't be there either if I was still daydreaming about this beautiful goddess who always rescues Yak with her brilliance, sassy personality, singular focus, and yellow folders, but that sounds a lot like someone else.
Tumblr media
A Purple Prince who is also brilliant and focused on winning but wild and sassy. Good to know Yak has a type. (Sidenote: the music choices swinging between romantic to tension-filled as the scene flipped between Taem and Dee was another great choice)
Tumblr media
Because Taem is taken, even if not officially. She matches her guy. She had on a dark brown and black shirt, so he had on a dark brown cardigan with a black tie.
Tumblr media
And she had on a brown-striped shirt with a black star, and he had on a brown jacket with black writing and a black tie.
Tumblr media
Then again, Dee is no consolation prize. Not looking like that at least.
Tumblr media
No wonder Yak is conflicted about what he feels when he looks at Dee because he most certainly is sexually attracted to him because *duh* who wouldn't be attracted to Dee (TER!), but as they sit in Yak's black and yellow room, it becomes more apparent that whatever he is feeling isn't just sexual desire.
Tumblr media
And when Dee scratches his back just like his mom used to while tutoring him, it starts to become clearer that Dee, wearing his necklace, and in orange which is sooooo close to yellow fits easily into his life. (Sidenote: Together with Me taught me that in Thai, being itchy is slang for being horny, so good for this show and its layers)
Tumblr media
Dee works so well in Yak's life that Yak is willing to get three shots to continue to have sex with him which can take anywhere from eight months to over a year to complete because each dose is spaced out by at least two-to-six months. Basically, Yak committed to a long-term plan . . . with Dee, who is chilling in his yellow-striped shirt.
Tumblr media
So it's not surprising that Yak is wearing a deeper blue next week as he holds Dee on the couch since he is far more invested in this fake relationship than he originally intended.
Tumblr media
I could write 5,000 more posts about them and this episode which I probably will.
Tumblr media
But know that even though the blue Yak is wearing is getting deeper, I will not be satisfied until it turns into purple.
Tumblr media
That's when I'll know they are both in love.

To be honest, you can disagree with me, of course. And I absolutely don't want to attack anyone.
But there are circling Screenshots of things other studios said about Everbyte.
And while I definitely can understand critism, I don’t like the way they make jokes about them. Very unprofessional.
And whether they like it or not, they are really lucky that Everbyte exists. Because Duskwood was the game that made this scene, indie games, popular in the first place. When I started Duskwood, there were only games that were released after Duskwood came out.
And as we know, there are many games that have been, let's say... "inspired" by Duskwood.
I don’t want to say their games are bad. Absolutely not.
But Duskwood is by far the most popular game in the scene. And the success that Duskwood brought.. try to keep up.
Also... glass house and stones and... You never know what is going to happen in the future. And as other developer studios.. No one thought that this here, the critism, would ever happen. But it happened. And the same can happen to everyone else. Even if you could never imagine this yet.
Okay, I said it before, I don’t want to spread hate here, I just wanted to make my point clear.
This here is about serious criticism. It's not a joke or anything. Give constructive feedback to Everbyte. This is how they can learn. And they deserve this criticism.
But right now, it's a wave of hate and it seems to catch lots of people who just jump in and participate.
I'm sorry. I truly don't want to offend anyone. But this here is not a trend. And for other developers definitely no opportunity to eliminate the competition. As for me, it's makes me even more unwilling to play there games when I see how they talk about other devolpers.
As I said, critism is absolutely fine. But please, keep in mind we're still talking about 3 people here. Real people. Hate is shit and won't make anything better.
And I feel like this flood makes people more and more mad. And I don't know if that's how it should work. If every post you read increases the level of your mood even more negative, maybe you shouldn't read more.
I say this because it really feels like it. People criticised and the more people left their criticism, the angrier some got. And that's not how it should be.
Talk about the problems, post about them, leave your opinion. But stay constructive and especially be careful that you don't fall into the flood of other people's anger. That should not affect you. Your time deserves to be spent better.
As I said, I don’t want to attack anyone with it. And I do understand the frustration and sadness about all of this.
But still, I mean of course I also want to share my opinion. But I also want to try and remind people of the real problem here.
Thank you, once again, for reading. 💚

This is going to sound really strange but the most recent GRWM video has. Some of the best Janus characterisation I think we’ve seen in a while?? Also he canonically sheds now, so
You are not wrong, anon: this is the best characterization in a while. It's way better than the last one, in which Janus was mostly a drunk idiot, and it's way worse than SvS. This one sits in the middle: it's not bad, it's not amazing. It's good.
Just like Mr. Sanders' last videos regarding Sanders Sides, this GRWM is okay. Not groundbreaking, not impressive, not deep, not stupid. Just okay.
And trust me, this is the best possible outcome! When I found out Thomas was planning a video with Janus and it was a GRWM and Janus had questions to answer... I wasn't just scared, oh no. I was absolutely terrified. I feared to see the destruction of Janus' character. I feared to see him being all like: "YASSS QUEEN all I love is WINE and nothing else, also being SASSY is my religion BIATCH".
And we got a bit of that, sure. But it was a bit, not the avalanche I expected. I was bearable.
After all, this is just a random video. There's nothing plot-related here. Heck, there's not even too much Sanders Sides stuff, because this GRWM clearly was Thomas' attempts to reconnect with the character. I shouldn't care too much about it. I shouldn't overanalyze it.
But you know me: you know I love to over-analyze. And if you know me, you also know that Remus is my favorite child, but Janus has a special place in my heart and if one little thing about him is off I will start rambling.
Hence why I will overanalyze the shit out of these 9 minutes of a video and I will do what I shouldn't do, i.e. look back into the past's characterization. Not for shaming Mr. Sanders for not remembering it (even if the videos still exist and he can watch them too if he wants), but to remind you all of Janus' personality. The public needs to remember what kind of character he was and who he became.
So I'll over-analyze everything and no, you can't escape. You're stuck with me here, so put your seatbelt on, because you're in for one of the things I love the most: talking about Janus.
The importance of nuance
Let's talk about make-up a little bit. Don't worry, by the end you will understand my point.
The current make-up isn't even comparable to the past one. And if a lot of people complain about it and prefer the old one, it's not because they're all demanding: it's because of nuances.
Let me explain and let's start with the current photo Mr. Sanders showed to promote the GRWM video:
Tumblr media
If you look at this make-up, your eyes will inevitably be drawn towards that sharp black line. And as soon as you will look at it, you will immediately register it as a drawn line.
It's so clear and so evident it's a line, I can literally see the black liquid eyeliner, the tip and the hand tracing that line on Thomas' skin.
But this line isn't supposed to be a line: it's supposed to be/resemble a snake's mouth.
Now, look at the past make-up:
Tumblr media
The line isn't sharp black: the line is nuanced. You can see a bit of brown and a hint of red/pink to give it depth and emphasize the shadow.
Also, this color is very similar to the little shadow given by Thomas' upper lip on the lower one, so it looks more natural against his skin tone. It doesn't seem like something added on him, but on something that was already part of him. And isn't that the goal of make-up? To add something and disappear, so people won't notice it exists in the first place?
Look at the eye as well: the past one is a softer, more nuanced pink. It looks more natural, against Thomas' skin tone. The present one is so dark, it looks more like a bad bruise.
So the problem with the current make-up isn't just that the colors aren't the same: it's that the current colors are too much. They're too sharp, too saturated and, consequently, too fake. It's clear that Thomas wears make-up, while in the past the blend was softer, the colors closer to Thomas' actual complexion. Consequently, the make-up faded and gave us an illusion of reality.
I know Mr. Sanders had skin conditions and everything, but I'm talking about colors and nuances here. Two things a make-up artist should know better than me, an idiot on the Internet who loves art, color theory and learns from artists on the web. You can obtain these things independently of the used products.
So my opinion on the make-up would be: please Mr. Sanders, switch for softer tones, no sharp black and no coral. Too much. Nuance is the key.
And not just for make-up.

The fakeness of reality tv
Janus enjoys reality television because nothing about it is real. His specific words are:
I very much enjoy reality television: the scheming, the plotting, the lying. Every person for himself and even on top of that, all of the production none of reality television is actually real. It's just delightful.
I get the idea behind it and I understand why Thomas thought it was a good choice. On paper, it works: Janus should enjoy this kind of show because it's made of lies and he's Deceit.
But if I follow this line of thought, I inevitably meet with Janus from Into the Unknown:
[Patton]: Well yeah I guess you'd like it, everyone all dressed up, disguised as someone else... [Janus]: How is it we've had so many of these visits and you still know so little about me?
Janus himself said that not everything associated with lies is something he enjoys. And it makes sense, because Logan too said the same thing in the last Aside:
"Is that all I am to you? The reading guy?"
So now I'm asking: why does he like reality tv? Just because it's fake? Then why is he so happy about it being fake? Reality tv should represent reality, it should mirror how society works. And thanks to SvS, we know Janus doesn't hold society into high consideration:
[Deceit]: Society itself is a lie! (...) You get enough people to share a piece of land and breathe the same air and... you've got a society. Why? It's just a bunch of people in the same general area. It's an abstract concept, as real as the monster under your bed! But we obey these rules or get punished for breaking them. All in the name of society. It's absurd and terrifying.
Just like society, reality tv has a group of people put together and they make a society. It's an abstract concept, as real as the monster under your bed. And these people must obey the rules or get punished for breaking them.
And yet, Janus doesn't think reality tv is "absurd and terrifying", but "delightful".
Again: why does he like it? Why does he like something so similar to what he hates most?
Maybe you can live with the "It's fake" explanation and that's good for you. But what if instead of liking reality tv because "it's fake", Janus likes it, because it perfectly mirrors the flaws and the emptiness of society? What if he enjoys it, because he loves the irony of society using its own means to unmask itself and show its real face? What if he watches it, not because "it's delightful", but because it's bittersweet to see such an inability to understand your own flaws?
Which explanation do you think is more fitting for his character?
---
Remus eats glue sticks
Of course he does. His digestive system is probably able to digest molten lava, so glue sticks are a walk in the park for him, bless his chaotic soul <3
(Have I already said Remus is my favorite boi?)
---
The possibilities of shedding
Okay, the "Have you considered not having pores?" is hilarious and I love it on multiple levels.
Well, here we are. Janus sheds, two to four times a year. And I know the fandom went crazy over this and I'm happy for you... but I never really cared too much about it.
I mean: it's fine, but I can't really think of anything truly special to headcanon about it. Snakes shed their skin all the time and they just chill around, while slowly peeling their skin off. It's not dangerous, it doesn't hurt, it's just exfoliation time✨. I mean, does it hurt you, when you remove sunburnt skin? Don't think so. The worst thing for snakes is probably not being able to take the skin off with hands, since they don't have hands.
But hey, this is canon now, so I should probably integrate it in my headcanon. And I can do it in two different ways:
The shedding is just part of Janus' routine: twice a year he gets one day off, takes a reeeeally long bath and slowly peels off his skin until he's done.
I can take inspiration from this fanart and imagine the shedding as a real "leaving your body behind" process, in which Janus slowly gets submerged into his room and re-emerges as a form of pure power and instincts, which then solidifies into a new body. I think I like this idea more, because when I go with Janus, I need something that makes him look either more god-like or more monster-like.
And since we're talking about snake traits, how many more does he have? Because I already added a few on my list, like:
sunbathing
climbing trees
laying everywhere (especially on trees)
taking long relaxing baths
And I'm just waiting for an excuse to add "mating". But I suppose only future will tell.
---
What you don't like
"An important aspect of being oneself, in addition to knowing what you like, is knowing what you don't like and saying to that thing: ew get away from me, I don't like you... Roman"
Okay, that was genuinely funny and it made me smile, so kudos for that, Mr. Sanders. It was a clever move and I enjoyed it.
Also, for more reasons I will explain further down, this makes me want to write a conversation between Janus and Roman, to study how they work together, why they don't like each other and their personalities in general. My only problem would be to put it on a timeline, because I don't like to write things suspended in a temporal vacuum. If inspiration strikes, maybe I'll do it.
---
Religion... and self-preservation
Now, I don't know who made that question about Jesus Christ, but you. You. You gave me real fear... but also indirectly confirmed one of my headcanons, so thank you, I suppose.
I was bracing myself, waiting and hoping Thomas didn't say anything stupid, because Janus and religion have a super tight bond and one misstep can lead to me rambling for the rest of my life, all while throwing canon into the trash because no one can say anything wrong about the relationship Janus has with religion, not even Mr. Sanders.
But the answer was... okay. Harmless. A bit simplistic, maybe, but I can accept Janus saying that Jesus is cool for having followers and turning water into wine.
What really struck me the most was when he said Jesus is his style because "he refuses to die".
For me, that's the most important part of the video. You can take away everything else, because this is the only part that matters for me.
Why? Because this is the essence of self-preservation. Because, as I said in the past, self-preservation is that force that protects you from dangers, threats, even yourself. And it protects you from death. It's part of that intrinsic will to live that defines all living creatures.
So, since Janus encompasses this role too, it has always been implied (at least for me) that he's that force that will fight against death until the end, just to make Thomas live a little longer. In my headcanon, he literally refuses to think Thomas can die before his time, because he's built to not make this happen.
Hence why when I saw Janus putting such emphasis on the idea that Jesus refuses to die made me immensely happy, because it's (implied) canon. Janus refuses to die, because he will never surrender to death. Because it's his nature, to never surrender to it.
---
Deceit or Ego?
The snake telepathy part was fun when mentioned, then it was followed by the "memememe I'm gorgeous" part, which is perfect if you're the representation of Ego, a bit less if you're deceit.
Speaking of that, I think there's a bit of confusion in Thomas' mind regarding these two aspects. And since they're represented by two different Sides, the contrast is even more jarring.
Janus is confident and this is part of his personality. But confidence isn't repeating "me" in your head 400 times and telling yourself that you're gorgeous and handsome even when sitting still. This isn't confidence, this is Ego. This is something Roman could say to himself... and he did it, in the past. He looked at himself all the time, called himself gorgeous, asked if his makeup was okay because the prince's gonna slay, said he dramatically serenaded himself in front of the mirror. All these things are a constant reconfirmation of yourself and this is what the Ego does: it constantly reconfirms you're great and cool and gorgeous.
Confidence, on the other hand, doesn't need constant confirmations. If you're confident, you already know you're great, you don't need to repeat it yourself. You just do your things and if others criticize you, you shrug their reprimands off.
One example of confidence from this video? This part:
"What are my guilty pleasures?" Guilty pleasures? Why would a pleasure be guilty? I've got none of those. Indulge in your pleasures guilt-free, people: life is short.
This proves Janus is confident, WAY MORE than him repeating how cool he is. This is the tone he should've had for most of the video, not that "Oh, look at how cool I am".
Also because it may seem a paradox, but the more you repeat how cool you are, the less people will believe you. That's why people who constantly show off are perceived as weak and insecure: because they search for a constant reconfirmation they would probably never need, if they were truly confident.
---
All of the selfcare - and what else?
Aside from the things I already mentioned, the rest of the video is mostly made of advice like "your opinion is the only one that matters/others are less than you/don't give a shit about others".
I don't know if this is Mr. Sanders making a reminder to himself to not indulge in criticism too much, but okay, let's ignore it XD
These pieces of advice can all be traced back to another aspect of Janus' personality: the self-care one. The last canonical one.
And since it's the last, I can understand why Thomas latched onto it and made it be like 60% of the video. It's probably the part of Janus' character he remembers the most.
And it's the easiest too, along with the "sassy" aspect. Put them together and you get the sassy queen who tells you to relax dear, don't give a fuck about the rest of the world.
So I understand you, anon, when you say this is the best characterization in a while: it is, because it's based on the last canonical piece of Janus' character, mixed with the "sassy" aspect that developed more recently. Of course it seems more coherent with Janus' character, compared to him being drunk for an entire video.
But even if canonical, self-care is just an aspect of Janus' personality and it makes most of the video. The remaining part is a huge amount of Ego, which shouldn't even be here, because it's Roman's trait.
And the other aspects? Nowhere to be seen. No distaste for society, no cryptic language, no wittiness, barely any lie, barely any real confidence, barely any body language and zero foreseeing ability.
I know what you're thinking and yes, I said at the beginning that this video is clearly just a way for Mr. Sanders to reconnect with the character. So I understand why Janus' personality is like that and that there are mistakes or incomplete things. I am not blaming Thomas for trying.
I am writing this post, to remind you Janus' full personality. To remind you that he's not just "sassy wine aunt/self-care queen".
On the contrary, I think present Janus is exactly like his make-up: the traits are similar to the original one, but the aspects are too sharp. They should be here, they are part of him, but they're not in the exact shade or nuance to be him. They are similar, but off, because something is missing. And that something is nuance.
In the end, that's what this post is all about: nuance. Past Janus was more nuanced, because he was more than one aspect. Present Janus is less nuanced, because he's stuck between two aspects - which is a truly cruel irony, considering his entire thing is being a gray, multifaceted character.
My only hope is that, just like with the make-up, Mr. Sanders will find a way to bring nuances back into Janus' character and make him at least similar to who he used to be.

☆༉ — CHRIS STURNIOLO. The Unwritten Rule.
Tumblr media
about. Everyone knows the rule, don't fall in love with your best friend's boyfriend.
author's note. This is the chapter 6, I hope it sounds interesting to you. My first language is not English. masterlis!
Tumblr media
Anna's house is quiet and empty, and I stand hesitantly in the kitchen as I check her messages.
Anna's house seems normal enough. Anna drops things on the floor, his mother leaves half-eaten cans of peppermint candy that she always has with her everywhere. But I still haven't felt comfortable here.
I don't think Anna will either, but I feel even more uncomfortable than usual. I can't believe Chris is coming. I can't believe I'm here. Why did I agree to this?
Because I want to see it.
I'm not here for Anna, I'm here for me and I'm a horrible friend.
I can't help it. I still want to see it.
Anna threw her cell phone on the table with some anger, clearly she wants me to ask her what's going on. So I do it.
"What's happening?"
"The usual, mom is working late and dad doesn't call," she rolls her eyes and sighs frustrated. "Why do my parents hate me?"
"They don't hate you" This talk again? "Your mom is... she is what she is, and your dad is not always far away if it seems that there will be something else legal."
"There is always something else legal" it seems obvious to me. I'm like this bone that he and mom fight to get. Sometimes I think it could be a dog or a vase and they would still act exactly the same." I look away." “I would be lying if I said it wasn’t true.”
"They know you're not a dog or a vase" I'm not lying. I think Anna's parents know she exists and that she is their daughter.
I just don't think any of them care, it's not important to them, like it should be and I know it's really hard for her.
I walk over to where she is standing and put my arms around her to hug her. “You are better than them.”
"You think?"
"Completely."
"I would never treat my son like they do, when I have my children, I will make him love me more than anything."
"You shouldn't have to make them love you, Anna. They always will."
"No, sometimes you have to make people love you."
"You can't make someone love you" I laugh.
"Of course you can. Just know what they want it to be and eventually they will" basically manipulation...
"That's... horrible, I mean, but the look on Anna's face was a mix of rage and helplessness. "And what about being yourself?
"Tell me, what's so good about that?" He looks at me seriously. "Look at you for a second, you're small and quiet, so guys never notice about you. That's because they're stupid and only think about looks and things, of course, but still."
"Okay" I remove my arms from around her and return to my seat.
"Don't be sad" I bite the inside of my cheek. "It will be different in time, I'm sure of that. Besides, your parents love you in a crazy awesome way, and you know I love you. If I could have a sister, it would totally be you, but I like to think that we are already sisters. You do not believe it?"
"Yes" Does she try to soften it with a friendly comment every time she says something hurtful to me? but what I really wonder is if there are sisters where one feels like she is the shadow of the other. Yes there is a girl with a sister who sometimes makes her feel like nothing. In that case it would be Anna and me.
"Oh shit, Chris will be here soon" he changes the subject. "Will you wait down here and let him come in for me? I have to go get ready."
"But you look good" I admit that, if I wanted to see Chris, but I didn't want to be alone with him, not yet.
"I have to be Perfect" she smiles. "All you have to do is talk to him for a few minutes.
"Anna…”
"Okay, don't talk. Just do homework with him. You can do that right? We're going to do homework tonight anyway."
"Anna" I repeat, but she ran up the stairs.
"You are the best, you are great Adi!" He yelled at me as I went upstairs.
I grab my notes and look for a place to sit waiting for Chris.
I ended up sitting at the kitchen table, and when the doorbell rings I jump. I go to open the door knowing that I would meet Chris.
"This is new, I always have to ring the bell more than once before..." he finally looked at me and smiled "Ada, hello."
"Hey," he greeted, looking at the ground. "Anna is upstairs getting ready. She will be with us in a few minutes.
"Well," he runs his hand through his hair, combing it back. I could see how the strands of hair were messy. Jamás lo observó tanto, But I've been waiting and regretting that he shouldn't see me here and now he blushes, I want to touch him so much that my stomach is boiling and shaking because of it, my fingers tremble.
"We should sit down" I spoke at the same time he said 'Do you want to sit down?', we both sat down, we smiled at each other at that.
It's Chris, it's just Chris. I can do this, I've known him forever and we're friends, he's dating my best friend. I have to do this, be normal. Stop looking at him so much, stop wanting him Ada.
He pointed to the room in which no one in Anna's house ever sits, and cocked his head.
"I'm really a little scared about that room."
"Me too," I admit, still smiling openly at each other. I can't seem to stop smiling, and he seems happy, like he's glad to be here. I could reach out my hand and touch his. He's so close, I could just touch his hand and slide my fingers up his arm so he'd lean toward me and...
"I'm coming down!" Anna shouted.
Of course, he's happy because he's here for his girlfriend. What were you thinking, Ada?
I walk towards the living room, blinking several times to avoid the tears that burned my eyes, I hear his footsteps behind me.
I sit on the reclining sofa, so he and Anna can sit together, so then they can say 'Ah, my books, I have to go get them', go to the kitchen and avoid seeing them. I will come back and be clean in heart and mind, I swear, I just need a second or two.
In the kitchen, I gather my things and then head over to the refrigerator, resting my head against it. Then I had some cans of grapes and a beer for myself.
I'm calm, I'm relaxed. This will turn out fine.
Although I know it won't be like that.
Silence falls when I give him his soda, a silence I am familiar with, a silence I know. I look at him and notice that he casts his gaze into the distance as if he were looking at me, his throat passing saliva. Anna finally comes down. When she does it I'm sure she must see how hard I try not to look at Chris and how hard he tries not to look at me.
Taking a sip of my beer, my throat feels closed making it harder to pass the intoxicating liquid.
"Hello," he greets us both. "That's what you say when someone comes in, you know that? Why so silence?"
“me” Chris clears his throat “Is that the only beer?” ask.
"That's progress," Anna smiles. "Just for that you earned a kiss!" I notice how Anna leans towards Chris.
But the moment Anna intended to join her lips with Chris's, he stood up and Anna froze.
"I'm going to get a beer," his voice was firm, I rarely heard him speak that way.
"I'm going with you," Anna is quick to say.
"Okay, I'll be right back" then I see him walk past me and into the kitchen.
"Hurry up!" Anna's voice sounded bubbly. “Did you see it? Did you see that?" She approached me, whispering irritably.
"I'm sorry" I wasn't saying it because of what she believed, I was saying it because I regretted kissing Chris, but not that much.
"Don't do it, I'll fix this myself," she stretched her lips and walked into the kitchen.
A few seconds later he heard some sounds, her voice being soft and Chris's voice calm. Followed by a long silence.
Silence of kisses.
I left my beer. I see Chris return, his gaze connects with mine and I notice that in his hand he was holding a can of beer like mine.
"I like this more than grapes," he had something in his eyes, something that made me take a breath.
"Me too, obviously," I responded almost obligatorily, looking at my notes.
"I know" then I look up and see him smile at me. Damn it Chris don't make it so obvious.
Where the hell was Anna? Why does it take so long in the kitchen?
"Did you start reading history?" he asks me, like he's trying to make this all normal, but he knows it's not, it's not normal at all.
"No, I don't have it yet," I replied. "Did Anna call you last night?" I opened my eyes wide looking at him. “The things that happened, I didn't think would happen. But I'm serious..."
"Why are you two looking at each other so intensely?" Then my best friend appears, my gaze almost unwillingly moves away from his and looks at Anna. She was standing in the doorway looking at us. "And Ada I was only gone for a few minutes. Did you think I was gone?" true I called her.
“We were just waiting for you,” I shake my head. “You should sit on the couch.”
"You mean with my own boyfriend?" Chris rolled his eyes. Did he like her saying that? “Are you ready to pay attention to me now?” He sits next to Chris and kisses him.
I concentrate on looking at my history book and open it. I'm not even on the right page, but I didn't care about that. What really matters is not looking at Anna and Chris kissing.
I try not to wonder what he was going to tell me before Anna interrupted, I try not to think about how his mouth feels.
He looked up and Anna was looking bad, but her eyes were worried, Chris isn't kissing her, he's opening his own history book. He gives me a look and then looks away.
"We should get started," he tells his girlfriend.
"I should have known that Ada here would manage to embarrass you and put you in 'studious boy' mode. Ada, you really owe me for taking away my real boyfriend.
"Yes," I held that history book tightly in my hands. "I know I do."

With Batfamily does comic canon matter? Yes!
Should you be authoritarian with it? No!
All this "Canonically blah-blah" or "Actually in 1989 🤓" really shouldn't matter. I understand that some of it is in good fun but sometimes we cross the border of "here's an interesting tidbit" to "anyone that writes about this thing in fanon instead of this canonical inconsequential detail should be feel ashamed of themselves and flog themselves".
Don't get me wrong, I personally like elements of canon better than fanon (and vice versa) BUT not this isn't Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings.
Most individual issues are throwaway. DC quite literally plays fast and loose with canon.
Like is there synergy between writers, absolutely. Is everything written supposed to be remembered years from now, hell no.
No writer expects you to have read all comics in existence or even a previous run. DC doesn't stand for Disregard Canon but D-isn't C-serious. Ed Brubaker didn't know Holly was killed when he wrote her in his Catwoman run, so you're not obligated to know or even take as canon that Jason's hair color was originally blonde or that he was apart of the Flying Todds or that he shot Damian.
I don't care about the War of Jokes and Riddles, nor do I care about Sasha or Vesper. I don't care that Dick had a fake wedding when he was like 20 or something and I don't care that Barbara wanted to be trained by Black Canary. I'm not gonna add that to my fics and I don't expect others too.
Really, all you need to know/read is a basic timeline (You can also just read up to a certain point and stop. That can be your canon!) and the origins. Everything else is icing on the cake.

It was a gorgeously sunny day with the salty water rising on the sand and disappearing back into the vast ocean. Some palm trees littered throughout the area and some joyous laughter was heard all around with a galore of girls dressed in their cutest swimsuits.  Y/n was lying in a beach chair, fully clothed, and her chair was placed next to Kyoya as she snuck her straw underneath her mask, sipping on the drink while covering her mouth.
"You're still wearing a mask, at the beach," Kyoya noticed. “Is that really necessary?”
"Yes, you can never be too careful about who may be around,” she answered, eyes searching the nearly empty beach. She insisted. "Now, where is Haruhi?" She pushed down her sunglasses, scanning the beach area before soon enough the girl started to walk over. "Haruhi! You look so good in that bathing suit!" Y/n complimented the girl who was wearing a cute yellow shirt with striped shorts.
"Tha-thanks," She smiled, taking a seat beside her. “You look nice as well,” she looked over at Y/n’s outfit which was much different than the normal one they all usually saw her in. Instead, she wore a tank top, showing off more skin on her arms and even chest area with a towel covering her legs from the skirt.
"Behold Y/n," Tamaki popped up behind her chair, slipping through the gap to stand on her side and hung over. "Bask in the beauty of the tropical birds! Aren't they breathtaking? They remind me of you," He blurted while his eyes unconsciously took a look down, seeing her bare thighs underneath the towel. Quickly he jumped back, almost tripping back into Kyoya’s seat, as he shook his head a large pink floating over his cheeks.
"Jeez boss," Hikaru popped up.
"Yeah, way to be a pervert," Kaoru popped up on the other side.
"I-I wasn't looking at her beachwear!" He stepped back while the twins followed him.
"We didn't mention anything about that," Hikaru told him, following him farther back.
"What are they doing now?" Y/n queried. The sun was still beating on her, and with a towel now covering her legs she was quickly getting overheated. In response she started to fan herself with her hand, trying to wave some air to alleviate the heavy feeling of her hair.
"Here," Mori moved over, he sat down on the edge of the empty bench beside her taking a ponytail he had stuck around his wrist and offering it up. Y/n gratefully took it, moving to gather some hair before Honey was already gathering it in his own hands.
"Thank you," Y/n smiled, she pushed down the mask to not cover her nose. Mori’s eyes sparked up a bit and Y/n just patted his hand in a thanks before moving over to pat Honey's head. Honey and Mori exchanged a glance at her actions, now seeing a part of her features that she was normally adamant about covering up. “I have not been to the beach in years, I forgot how hot it can get.”
Kyoya took a peak over at the distressed Y/n, soon enough noticing the new predicament of her mask. Seeing just a bit more of her appearance was keeping him hooked, and though he knew sneaking a photo of this would be a great money maker, he decided to keep this to himself.
“You have a cute nose!” Honey complimented, bending over closer to her face to get a look. Y/n’s eyes immediately went wide at the lack of space, and she felt her heart beating a bit faster.
“Mitsukuni,” Mori shook his head, pulling the boy back to sit beside him. “Personal space,” he kindly reminded the boy before adding, “I agree.”
Y/n just mumbled an incoherent thanks while turning her face to look over at Haruhi, shoving the mask up over her nose. "What's going on with them now?" Y/n wondered focusing her attention now on the twins who were continually backing Tamaki up farther away to the point he might bump into something.
"The twins are pressuring Tamaki," Haruhi noticed calmly taking a sip of her water.
"I'll be back," Y/n quickly removed the towel and pulled down her longer skirt so that more was covered. She headed over to the three other members, stopping behind them. "He's going to get hurt," She pointed out, Tamaki’s sole of his foot almost touching a sharp rock. At the sound of her voice, they all turned around, mouths dropping a bit while taking in the new image of her. "You all are some pervs," She scoffed, swiftly spinning around and walking off.
"No! Y/n wait! Y/n wait!" Tamaki called out while jogging up to her. She stopped in her tracks to allow him to continue, now embarrassed about what she was wearing and trying to cover herself with her arms. "You should dress how you want. There are no guests here, just us, it's a vacation," He reassured her, reaching over to take a hand. “We were just surprised, you look lovely.”
"Yeah Y/n, but what happened to the outfits we offered you to wear?" Kaoru wondered.
"Our mother made the line, the finest of the finest," Hikaru reminded her.
"I didn't want to wear that and didn't want to be here, today's the day I visit my grandmother with my father," She glanced back, the boys all cowering together at the sight of her narrowed eyes and threatening tone, snatching her arm away from Tamaki.
Tumblr media
Not too much earlier that day Y/n was walking out of the school while talking to her father on the flip phone.
"Yes, I'll be home soon, the driver should be here. I hope I'll be seeing Nii-san there too," She softly spoke into the phone, cautious of being too loud. At a brisk pace, she made her way to where the limo could normally be found. "Okay father, I'm-"
"Bring her in," Tamaki muttered, letting the twins grab her and pull her in the limo. The abruptness of her daughter's voice disappearing caused him to start yelling on the other line at the thought of his daughter possibly getting kidnapped.
"Sorry Mr. Takahashi, Y/n has some business to attend to with the club. It was a last-minute decision and we hope you will excuse her absence for today. At this meeting, we hope to discuss our businesses. This is also Ootori Kyoya, you can call my residence if you don't believe this is truly me and they will reassure you," Kyoya spoke to her father on the phone, sitting in the limo with the annoyed girl.
"Did they kidnap you too?" Y/n looked towards her friend Haruhi.
"Yeah, and I have laundry to do today," She hissed while looking straight at Tamaki who just had a smug look.
Tumblr media
"Your grandmother?" Kyoya inquired.
"You don't speak about your family much," Haruhi added.
"No, I don't. It's because my family doesn't have to do with business," She shrugged. "Or at least, what my family is like."
"But it has to do with friendship," Honey chirped up. "And we are all best friends here!"
"Right," Y/n nodded to herself, switching her tone to a more joyful one trying to forget the earlier annoyances.
"What is this place again?" Haruhi questioned, still a bit confused about how they were still in Japan. The scenery was nothing like anywhere she had ever been before, more as if they were on a tropical island.
"This place is a brand new theme park that my family, the Ootori Group, runs. It's called the Tropical Aqua Garden," He informed her.
"I don't understand, I thought the Ootori group ran hospitals and that they were focused on the medical business," Haruhi remembered.
"Yes, but my family likes to diversify and try different things. We are also trying to have better relations with the Takahashi family, so making this healing facility we can incorporate some of their technology," He turned to Y/n after he finished speaking. Soon enough she was back to reading, luckily packing an extra book in her backpack. She lay on her side in the chair, a bit of her bottoms showcasing the side of her bottom. The acknowledgment made Kyoya heat up a little himself, opening up another button of his shirt and throwing a towel over her bottom half.
"Oh yeah! It's the best for both companies," She added, not truly paying attention and barely noticing the new addition of a cover.
"Y/n helped make some of the technology, correct?"
"I help my father with this business a lot, that's how I grew up," She looked over the top of the novel, settling back into her seat now lying on her back and being engulfed in her book.
"This is therapeutic, think of all the people who are overworked and would love a vacation in the south tropics. However, they may not be able to get the time off or they may not be able to afford it. Those people can now seek refuge here at the theme park, and reduce their stress levels," He pushed up his glasses. "The Ootori group's primary concern has always been for the good health and well-being of the general public."
"It sounds suspicious to me," Haruhi commented.
"Even with my company involved?" Y/n now looked up from her book, staring at the girl with a bit of hurt on her features.
"I-I mean I don't know. If you guys are involved then maybe not," She trailed off, looking at some of the other members playing in the water.
"The park doesn't officially open until next month but the Host Club was given a special advance invitation," Kyoya told her.
"This is so relaxing, we don't have to worry about keeping all of our guests entertained for once," Tamaki relaxed into the chair, legs stretched out and arms up high.
"N/n-chan! Want to share some coconut juice with me? Have a slice of mango cake?" Honey inquired, having a floaty on and jumping up and down beside the girl.
"Oh, I'm okay at the moment," She politely said standing up to look around a bit more. She had seen the layout but wasn't as involved with this project as much as she was with others in her family company.
"Y/n, Haruhi, want to go check out the water slide?" Hikaru asked, walking over to the girls, his brother chomping on a banana.
"Why aren't you wearing a top suitable for water anyway?" Kaoru realized, looking at Y/n in her shirt covering the bathing suit. “Are you going to take it off?”
"I don't want to," Y/n deadpanned, grabbing Haruhi's wrist.
"So, you're not going to swim?" Kaoru questioned, raising his voice a bit as Y/n was making her run away from the twins.
"Not today. If I wish to swim I can do it at home," She yelled back now dragging Haruhi away from the boys.
"I wish I were at home," Haruhi sighed letting Y/n pull her off in the opposite direction.
"I am sorry, but I think we can still have some fun though!" Y/n beamed. "Let me grab my notebook, I haven't had a girlfriend before, I've been keeping notes for once I did!"
Haruhi stared at the girl, frozen in her place with a light blush taking over her cheeks. She figured she had many friends. Even though she was closed off at first, she's so many amazing things it's clear to anyone who looks at her. Haruhi felt saddened by the girl's lack of friendships, realizing that the Host Club were her only friends.
"You don't have any other friends?" Haruhi pondered, voicing her thoughts out loud. Y/n stopped her searching and turned around to face her.
"Not really, Father can be strict and I'm not close with many people besides my family. Ever since my mother died, he's kind of been like that," She lightly chuckled, not liking the way the mood was changing. "But the notebook is somewhere around here, just give me a moment."
Haruhi didn't realize her mother passed, Y/n didn't talk about her mother but she also didn't talk about herself all that much in general. Y/n was always listening to other people or speaking about her family’s company.
While the girls were looking for the notebook Y/n had in her bag, Tamaki pulled the boys aside, wanting to talk with them.
"Don't make Y/n and Haruhi do anything they don't want to you idiots!" Tamaki scolded.
"We weren't!" Kaoru argued.
"Did you encourage Y/n to cover up?" Hikaru questioned. "You were all over her for wearing shorts, why didn't she choose one of the bathing suits our mother made?"
"She would have looked nice, it seems like you have bad intentions behind letting her wear something else," Kaoru added.
"No! No! That's not it, it's not respectful for a lady to show a lot of skin, not a good look," He tried to defend himself.
"A good look?" Y/n looked up to him, scrunching her eyebrows.
"N/n-chan! Let's play in the pool, Haru-chan you come too!" Honey hung onto her arm now.
"We aren't going swimming today," Haruhi informed him.
"Honey-senpai, why are you wearing the floaties? You're able to swim, right?" Y/n queried.
"Yep!" He exclaimed, soon spinning around. "Just looks cuter this way, you know?" He smiled, running back to the water.
"Yeah," Y/n and Haruhi looked at each other, before giggling.
"He's so innocent," The twins mentioned.
"No way! You guys have got it all wrong!" A voice spoke, then there was some rumbling and Renge somehow was now emerging from the sand.
"How?"
But now most of the members were focused on her differing appearance. With a new addition to her skin and a cute outfit rather than the yellow uniform.
"That outfit is pretty impressive," Hikaru mentioned.
"What's with the tattoo on your stomach?" Kaoru asked, pointing at it.
"Oh, that? You don't recognize it? I'm cosplaying!"
"Yeah, as who?"
"LaLa."
"LaLa? Like the manga magazine?"
"Her petite and slender frame, her blue eyes that light up young men's faces, her singing voice! I'm Quon Kisaragi!" Renge exclaimed.
"It looks nice," Y/n complimented.
"Hey boss, are you sure it's okay for Renge to be dressed like that?" The twins wondered.
"Yeah, I suppose it is," He answered.
"Why her?"
"Because it's cosplay? I guess," Tamaki told them, not having perfect reasoning.
"Listen up, boys!" Renge called out. "And the girl. You need help, understanding Haniozuka's hidden motives! Look!" She pointed to the smaller boy who just jumped into the water with his pink, bunny floaty.
"What are you talking about?" Tamaki questioned, the group all peering over at where Honey was floating and giggling in the water.
"Think about what he said to you earlier," Renge declared. "He's not being as innocent and sweet as you think."
"I agree," Kyoya added. "Try putting the word 'I' at the beginning of the sentence," They thought back to how Honey said 'Just looks cuter this way, you know?' earlier.
"That's Haniozuka for you, in the last chapter he felt threatened by another loli-boy type, so he's taken steps to keep his rank," Renge explained to them, remembering Shiro and how he could somewhat fit that personality. "I should give him more credit, he's a lot smarter than I thought."
"Hey! Look at this, everybody!" Honey yelled on top of Mori who was swimming. "Check it out! Look! Even though we're swimming fast, we never go any farther than we are now! Ha, ha!"
"I got ya!" The twins called out, one shooting Tamaki in the face with a water gun.
"Come on, boss, let's go! Let's have a water gunfight! It'll be me and Kaoru against you," Hikaru declared. "If you get it in the face you lose."
"Forget it," Tamaki told them. "Why would I want to subject myself to a childish game like that?"
The Hitachiin twins jumped up, a plan now coming into their minds. "Y/n, what do you think about getting married?"
Tamaki started to pump the water gun, reaching down to grab another gun so that he could have two. He mumbled to himself, agitated, by getting ready for the fight to defend a certain someone's honor.
"Do you really think I'd let Y/n marry you guys?"
"Who said I would?" Y/n spoke up, but the boys were too consumed in their battle. "My father wouldn't either."
"I'm glad you know I wouldn't," Tamaki smiled at her.
"I meant my actual father," She rolled her eyes.
"Well, Daddy still says no!" Tamaki yelled, squirting the water gun at the boys.
"Did he not hear anything I said," Y/n wondered, walking back over to the chairs. She pulled out her book while Haruhi was lying back having a drink. "Taking a break from watching Honey-senpai?" Y/n asked Mori once he walked over.
"Yeah.”
"Do you want this drink? I'm not going to have it."
"Sure," He took the iced cold drink from her hands, sipping it while some of the other hosts continued to play with the water guns.
"I'll get you guys! Sideway leaping shot!" Tamaki called out, doing the move and shooting the twins who had something to block themselves. When landing he stepped onto a banana peel, causing him to slip and bump into a large stand. It was covered with different machines and such but soon enough it started to light up, and machinery around it began to beep indicating that he had pressed something when bumping into it.
Honey was in the pool, kicking his legs beneath the water, lying on his floatie. The boy looked so joyful, floating about and waving his hands toward his friends on the shore. Until, suddenly, a huge wave emerged from nowhere, crashing down upon him. His floaty flew up into the air, Honey merging around with the waves of the water.
"Mitsukuni!"
"Honey-senpai!"
Y/n and Mori ran towards the water that was taking away Honey. Mori was running so fast that he didn't notice the banana peel from earlier and ended up tripping.
"Gentlemen, we're going after Honey-senpai!" Tamaki declared, catching up with Y/n and Mori. "That pool looks like the quickest way," He pointed to the route a pool was rounding over in. "Charge!" He commanded, running off into the distance with the group- which now consisted of Y/n, Haruhi, Tamaki, Mori, Hikaru, and Kaoru -all followed the water path, until...
"Wait I wouldn't go-" Kyoya tried to warn them, before they stopped themselves, realizing that there were crocodiles in the path they were heading.
"I should have done my research before coming here," Y/n mumbled. As the group ran back over to Kyoya, scared of the sharp-toothed animals.
"Okay. So, we can't use that pool, so let's try this way next!" Tamaki commanded, sticking an arm up in the air and leading the group down a different path. But yet again, the creatures were blocking their path.
"They're here!" The twins yelled.
"Here too!" Tamaki added.
"What's with all the alligators?" Haruhi asked Y/n.
"No clue, my family just helped with this," She huffed, the group tired from running around.
"Those alligators belong to the park's tropical animals exhibit. I guess it's kind of dangerous to let them run wild," He expressed, writing down notes in a pocketbook. "Though, the cause of our present situation seems to be the location of the switch for the current pool," Kyoya turned to look at Y/n.
"I helped create the thing, not place it!" She tried to feign innocence.
"I'll just have a little chat with our designers," Kyoya reassured her. "Thanks a lot, you guys. I got some great data today."
"You WHAT?!"
After learning the true reason they were there, the group traveled over to where the bathrooms were. Looking at a map that was located in the area, luckily it panned out all the surrounding areas to help give them an idea of where to search next.
"This is our current location, we need to get here," Kyoya pointed at the map, showing the group. "I have a feeling that's where Honey-senpai ended up. It might be tough because to get there we'll have to make it through this jungle area here in the southern block, distance wise we are talking about 800 meters."
"I didn't realize how undeveloped this park was," Y/n looked at the map, seeing how some areas were marked off. "Could other things be lurking over there?"
"Since they're still being developed, I don't know," Kyoya spoke honestly.
"Whatever's out there could be even more dangerous," Hikaru started.
"Then alligators," Kaoru finished. Mori was a bit lost in his world, staring at the map and dissociating with what was going on around him, yet, his fist was clenched tightly.
"Now this is a mission of survival!" Tamaki declared. "I know we can make it through the treacherous jungle in one piece. It is our sworn duty to save Honey-senpai!"
Tumblr media
The Host Club were walking through the little too-realistic jungle. They could hear birds squawking and see vines hanging down from the trees, having to duck out of their way. The sun shone on their skin, sweat drops appeared on their foreheads, and little skittering noises seemed to come from different directions.
"Wow, this place is just like a real jungle, huh?" Tamaki observed.
"Yeah, I keep hearing all of these really strange animal calls," Haruhi expressed, annoyed.
"We should be okay, as long as we stay away from the alligators. I mean there shouldn't be other crazy animals, this isn't a real jungle after all," Y/n joked, trying to put on a light tone.
"I'm not for sure, I know my family strives for authenticity whatever the cost," Kyoya voiced causing Y/n's confidence about being safe to drift. But she didn’t have much time to dwell on it as Mori had slipped on a banana peel a few steps ahead of her, now frozen and just lying on the ground.
"Mori-senpai-"
"Is acting as carelessly as you do boss!"
"Shut up!"
"Mori-senpai, here," Y/n put a hand down, to try and show that she would help him up. He took it and she strained to pull the heavier man up. She plotted her two feet into the ground to use all her muscles in lifting him and almost loosened her grip when the sky seemed to get much darker. Most of the group turned towards Kyoya in hopes that he would reveal why such an occurrence was occurring.
"Uh oh, it's about time for the squall," He announced to the group, glancing down at his watch.
"Huh?" The twins wondered and soon enough the rain started. It was pouring heavily which forced the group to run to shelter, trying to not get drenched from the storm.
Y/n walked up to Mori, touching his shoulder lightly to get his attention, "Mori-senpai, you and Honey-senpai are very close. How did you meet him?" She looked up to him for an answer. In all reality, their background was not the biggest concern at the moment, but she hoped that if she got him communicating it would help relieve some of his tension.
"You don't know-"
"Their cousins?" The twins questioned, finishing each other's sentence.
"They are?" Y/n turned around, looking at the twins with her eyebrows tilted to show confusion.
"The Morinozukas have been serving the Haninozuka family for generations," Kyoya remarked.
"However, two generations ago they became family by marriage, and the master-servant relationship soon became a thing of the past," Tamaki went more into depth, waving his hand about while explaining the dynamics.
"But even so Mori-senpai has always made it a point to accompany Honey-senpai."
"I think Honey-senpai will be alright," Y/n walked back up to Mori, touching his shoulder once again. "He might be a little cutie, but I have a feeling he can be tough when he wants to," Y/n laughed, seeing a faint smile appear on the male's face.
"You're right," He patted her head, nodding.
"Don't tell me Mori-senpai's out for my spot as Y/n's daddy?!" Tamaki stressed.
"Not my father" Y/n commented, rolling her eyes. Haruhi went over to Tamaki, trying to comfort him from sprouting too many mushrooms.
"No one wants that spot but you boss," Hikaru reminded him.
"That's kind of creepy when you think about it," Kaoru confirmed.
"Hello, it's me," Kyoya moved off to the side to answer his phone, explaining the situation to those who could help solve it.
It was not too long till the rain cleared up. Most of the group were too occupied in their antics to notice that Mori was leaving them behind. Haruhi was talking with the twins, letting them ramble about how Tamaki was annoying and trying to appropriately deal with a frustrated Tamaki arguing back. But Y/n decided to step away from the bickering and focused her attention on the one who seemed to need it most, Mori.
"Uh, Mori-senpai!" She called out, jogging to catch up with the man going through the bushes. "Honey-senpai didn't go this way, he was heading that way," She pointed in the opposite direction.
"You're wrong. He went this way," He corrected her just keeping up the same pace in the same direction he was traveling in prior. It was almost as if he had an instinct to guide him where Honey was.
"Well, uh," Y/n looked back a bit hesitant to leave the rest of the group. But with a quick worry about Mori being on his own (despite being easily capable of combatting danger), she started to jog her way back over to him "Wait, I'll come with!"
Mori had made much distance between her quick contemplation as he was much taller and had longer strides. She also had to combat the prickly vines covering some of the ground and bugs scattering about.
"I didn't think it would be this realistic!" She exclaimed, trying to hop around a large spider making its way closer to her.
"Y/n," Mori walked over and picked up the girl with ease, it did not matter how big Y/n was, the man had carried much weight over the years, easily more than what she could weigh.
"Um, um, I can wa-walk," She stuttered, startled by him picking her up. "I am fine," She laughed.
"Shhh," He simply spoke, continuing down his path as Y/n just slouched in his grip.
Not much had changed with the situation over where the rest of the club members stayed safe underneath the hut. The twins and Tamaki continued with their pestering one another while Haruhi kept trying to calm their useless arguments.
"That's enough," Haruhi sighed, she shook her head in disappointment and raised her voice to catch the attention of the immature boys. Tamaki was still fuming from the insults the twins were throwing his way, face red with anger and annoyance. However, the one person who wasn’t focused on the arguing was Kyoya, who finally got off the phone and noticed the unnecessary fighting between the three.
"My family's private police force is going to send in a search and rescue team to help us," Kyoya told the group. "They're better equipped to find Honey-senpai than we are, let's go by the gate and wait there.”
"Hey, where is Mori-senpai and Y/n-chan?" Haruhi asked aloud and all the loudness from the group finally ceased.
Tumblr media
Mori was still holding Y/n against his front while she propped up her head with her elbow on his shoulder. They went along with trying to find the smaller, yet older male, Mori easily making his way through the path.
"Mori-senpai, when you and Hone-" Y/n stopped her question, starting to hear multiple footsteps approaching. "What's that?" She turned her head to try and look at him more, tightening her hold on him slightly.
The noises got louder and pounding appeared when they were rapidly surrounded by men dressed in all black, having guns trained on the duo and a shield over their face.
"What.... the..... hell?!" Y/n exclaimed, starting to scramble in Mori's arms. "Just let me down, maybe I can talk to them," She told him, struggling more in his grip. She tried to get out of his hold, putting pressure to push herself down
"No, you're safe here," He tightened his grip around her body, placing a hand on the back of her head and rubbing her hair lightly. His eyes glared at the armed men all around and his stance slightly changed in preparation.
"Target confirmed, we found the little kid, they are with a suspicious figure," The officer confirmed through his walkie-talkie.
"Little kid?" Y/n questioned in disbelief.
"The target has been captured by a suspicious man," Another officer added. "We'll take the target into custody,” He took his finger away from the earpiece at his ear and cocked his gun towards the two. “You there! Put that kid down immediately! If you refuse, we'll remove them forcefully," Now they all cocked their guns and one man closer to Y/n tried to reach out and grab her arm to pull her over Mori's shoulder.
"Wait! Let's talk this out- Ow!" She screamed at the harsh grip of the officer. Mori instantly spun around and hit the officer in the chest sending him flying and landing into a bush. The other officers stood still and confirmed that if Mori made another move they were going to fire.
"Takashi! N/n-chan! Out of the way!" Honey called out, swinging from a vine soon enough, he had his feet colliding with an officer's face.
Now all the officers' attention remained on the new addition, guns trained on Honey. But this was no matter as it didn’t falter Honey’s movements, he quickly jumped into action, defeating all of the officers in record time.
"You guys should be more careful who you mess with! Picking on my friends is bad! Got it?" He pointed to one of the officers though there were no responses from the men he was speaking to as they were all groaning from injuries.
"Y/n!" Haruhi called out, running over with the group. "Are you guys alright?" At the noise of the others arriving Mori put down Y/n, keeping a hand on her shoulder while they came closer.
"Hey, it's Haru-chan!" Honey beamed, running up to hug her.
"Oh wow," Hikaru looked around at the damage made.
"You okay senpai?" Kaoru asked.
"Y/n!" Tamaki yelled, flinging his arms open to give a hug, tears running down his cheeks. He jumped up and down with the girl in his grip, Mori’s hand subtly falling away from Y/n’s shoulder.
"I'm fine," She grumbled, putting a hand out to his chest to stop him from getting closer, but this just caused a blush to appear.
"What... happened?" Haruhi looked around while the twins kept touching the officers to see if they were alive.
"Amazingly, this was Honey-senpai's work," Kaoru observed.
"He must have been holding back," Hikaru agreed.
"Holding back?" Haruhi pondered.
"You don't know about senpai?" Hikaru turned around, Haruhi and Y/n shaking their head no. "The Haninozukas are famous for their martial arts. Not only have they helped train the police and SDF forces, they've also worked with several overseas militaries.”
"Honey-senpai in particular has been called the dreadnaught of the Haninozuka family," Kyoya told them. "By the time he was in middle school, he'd become the national champion in both karate and judo."
"Mori-senpai's no slouch either. He won the national championship in Kendo when he was just in middle school," Tamaki added.
"We humbly apologize!" An officer woke up, and now he and his men were in the bowing position.
"Huh?" The host club turned to look at them.
"I'm a second-generation student of the Ishizuka Dojo," an officer exclaimed, soon others talking about where they were from, all apologizing.
"Why? Is something wrong?" Honey questioned curiously.
"Oh Honey-senpai," Y/n lightly giggled before breaking out into a harder laugh. Maybe it was all the nerves from just moments before and how quickly the situation changed but she couldn’t help bursting into a fit of laughter. Though this was a pleasant moment for the rest of the club members, they all got to enjoy a truly happy moment from the girl they were all beginning to adore.
"We're sorry sir, we didn't understand that we were looking for Haninozuka Mitsukuni," The officers once again apologized. "We've committed a terrible offense, I apologize. But my dojo will be so excited to hear that I've come face-to-face with the great Haninozuka! I cherish this moment!"
"Takashi, you did an amazing job of protecting N/n-chan!" Honey congratulated him. "I bet you were pretty lonely without me around, huh?"
"I don't know if I'd say that," Mori told him, giving a small glance to Y/n.

It was finally the end of the day with the sun setting on the realistic jungle.
"You know, maybe we should go to the beach next," Hikaru suggested.
"Yeah, the beach would be nice," Kaoru agreed.
"You idiots, Y/n and Haruhi aren't interested in anything like that," Tamaki rolled his eyes.
"I might like to go to the beach," Haruhi confessed.
"I haven't been there in a long time," Y/n remarked.
"Really?"
"The beach holds memories, it might be nice to revisit some of those," Y/n nodded at them and they all made their way off to the exit.
"Yeah! All right. Then that's where we'll go next time," Tamaki told the group.
"We're all gonna go to the beach, Tama-chan?" Honey repeated. "Hmm, that'll be fun, don't you think?" Honey asked Mori, from on top of his shoulders.
"Yeah," He agreed.
"That will be fun," Y/n looked back at the group rounded up all together laughing and messing around.

TAG LIST..!

"Well what're we waiting for? I ask with a giggle. Todoroki nods and the two of us walk into the restaurant. We stand by the hostess podium for a couple minutes before someone comes to us.
"Hello, table for two?" She asks. She had her eyes locked on Todoroki, not even bothering to look at me. I shift uneasily where I stand.
"Yes," he simply answers. The hostess nods and grabs two menus before leading us to a table with two chairs. I take a seat and Todoroki does the same.
"Someone will be here soon to take your order," the worker says. Todoroki nods and opens his menu. Though I can tell he already knew what he wanted.
"Do you know what you want?" Todoroki asked.
I nodded, "Mak-guksu." The thought of the meal alone was enough to make my mouth water.
His eyes lit up, "I was planning on that too. Is it your favorite?"
"Oh definitely! It's so good," I replied.
"It's my favorite too," Todoroki smiled softly.
"Look at us twinning!" I laughed. We sit in silence for a minute. "What's it like training to be a hero?"
"it can be stressful, but I think it'll be worth it. What's it like being quirkless?" Todoroki asked.
"It's weird. You know you grow up in a world where everyone around you has some sort of quirk and you're just a nobody. You start to feel bad," I shrug. "I got over my FOMO though, I don't care anymore. I was born this way, there was nothing I could've done to get a quirk."
Todoroki hummed in acknowledgement, lacking the words to reply. I was used to that, any quirk user I talked to got awkward when it came to talking about quirks. They thought I was fragile and emotional when I came to the subject, but really that was more of a struggle for my dad. The waitress came back with a small notepad in her hand.
"Good afternoon! I'm Hana and I'll be your waitress today," she greeted. Much like the hostess, her eyes were locked on Todoroki. She didn't even glance in my direction. I cross my arms subconsciously from insecurity. "Can I get you started with any drinks?"
"Yes, I'll have the green tea and she'll have the..." Todoroki answered he trailed off for me to answer.
"[Favorite Drink], please," I added. The Hana's eyes look briefly in my direction. Her lips tugged into a smirk as she tried holding back her laugh.
"Anything else?" She asks.
"Yes, we're ready to order," Todoroki said. I nodded in agreement, but the waitress wasn't looking at me.
"Great, what will you be having?"
"Two orders of mak-guksu," Todoroki answered.
Hana nodded and wrote our order on her notepad. "I'll be back out with your drinks."
Todoroki nods and turns his attention over to me. His look alone was enough to make me self-conscious, but I don't know why. "Are you ok?" He asked.
"Did you see the way she looked at me?" I ask as I play with my hair.
"I wasn't really paying attention," Todoroki honestly said. I nod and we start a simple conversation.
"We took a trip to the USJ a little bit ago. When we got there, we were swarmed with villains," Todoroki said.
"That's horrible, I'm sorry that happened to you," I replied with a frown. I reached over and placed a comforting hand on his own which was stationary on the table.
"It wasn't too bad, most of the students were alright. Our teacher and fellow staff members were the true victims. Aizawa-sensei was in a full-body cast for days," Todoroki added.
"Either way, you are still just a kid. Villains shouldn't be attacking your school trips," I say. He nods.
Hana returns with our drinks in her hands. She gently placed Todoroki's green tea on the table before she turned to face me. As she placed my [Favorite Drink] on the table, her hand swiped it and knocked it over, spilling it all over my outfit. "Dude!" I say loudly, but not loud enough to be a shout.
"oh my, I'm so sorry," Hana said without a trace of remorse in her tone. Todoroki picks up on her lack of concern and glances at her with annoyance.
"Where's your bathroom?" I ask.
"Over there," Hana said as she pointed. I borderline stomp my way over to the bathroom, annoyance evident on my face. I slam open the bathroom door and let myself in, heading to the sinks and grabbing paper towels.
"Stupid freaking waitress..." I grumbled angrily. "Can't even pretend to be sorry." I wipe and pat down my clothes and skin, getting the excess liquid off my body. I walk out of the bathroom and see Todoroki waiting for me just outside the door.
"We're leaving," Todoroki simply said. His voice was even and neutral, but I could tell something irked him.
"Ok, why?" I ask. The two of us made our way out of the restaurant.
"I didn't like how she disrespected you. When you left to the bathroom, she asked for my number and started insulting you," Todoroki explained.
"Oh. I figured," I said. "It was kinda obvious she didn't like me, her attention was on you the whole time."
"I didn't think she'd insult you to my face though. I'm sorry for the way you were treated, you didn't deserve that," Todoroki said.
"it's not your fault, Todo. I'm a big girl, I can handle myself. Trust me, she's lucky I didn't start fighting her," I laughed.
"I'll take you home now and we can go out for lunch some other time, if you'd like," Todoroki said.
I nodded, though I was slightly disappointed our day would end. He looked at me for a second before looking away. Both of us wanted to continue hanging out, but neither of us wanted to say something. We walked in silence to the bakery. "Bye, Todoroki."
"Goodbye, L/N," Todoroki replied. My heart ached as I closed the door behind me. He walked away, unknowingly having that same aching feeling in his chest.
"You're home early," Mom said. She had just walked out of the kitchen and stood behind the counter, the bell above the entry door probably gave away my presence.
"The waitress didn't like me and spilled my drink all over my outfit," I say dully. Mom just hummed.
"Well, go change. Maybe take a nap too," Mom replied. She walked over to me and gave me a quick side hug.
"Right. Goodnight, mom," I said.
"Goodnight, Y/N. I'll see you tomorrow," she placed. Kiss on the side of my head and let me walk off. I trudged my way to my room. I changed out of my soiled clothes and put on pajamas instead. My phone dinged and I looked at the notification. It was a message from Todoroki.
Tumblr media
My heavy heart became lighter as I thought about what Saturday would bring. I hoped it would be better than today. But either way, I was excited to be spending time with Todoroki.

Entangled Heart - Chapter 2
Tumblr media
Pairing: Simon "Ghost" Riley/Reader
Summary: The world had gone to hell a few years ago. No one cared about preserving other beings, endangered species. The crown of creation was quickly deemed a threat, and the hunters became the hunted. The world changed, we were no longer at the top of the food chain. The plants were.
They passive-aggressively spread, allowing a new plant species, called the 'Verdantia aurea' or Goldleaf Fern, to thrive. No one knew it was an invasive species. Other regional plants died, throwing the world out of balance. Many still remember the initial reports. It felt like the Seven Plagues of the End Times, written as if in the Bible.
You're part of that fucked ecosystem now together with a few survivors who made an oath to save humanity or at least whats left of it. One of them in particular doesn't seem to like you, everyone calls him Ghost. And you're pretty sure it's not because of the report when you were found nude, nestled between a bush of Goldleaf Fern itself by some Scientists.

Your grip on the rifle tightened as you thought you saw things moving in the shadows of the houses. When you tried to alert Soap and nudged him gently, he started to chuckle.
"Chill out, Rookie. It's over. The thing is full for now, we won't have any more trouble. At least now we can check out the buildings. Its death wasn't entirely pointless."
Were you the only one who found this entire situation absurd? It was simply surreal—Soap's chuckling, Ghost's indifference, and Price's detachment.
"Who knows if it really hunts out of hunger," you mutter quietly, your gaze returning to the twitching movements in the darkness.
"Those are the roots of the main distributor," he explained. "Damn thing. No sign of the real one yet. We would have already turned it to ash." Soap must have followed your gaze because you couldn't take your eyes off the writhing, twisting roots.
"Main distributor?" Despite being trained by König in the US, who had given you a crash course on some techniques and updated your knowledge, you still had significant gaps.
"Damn, Gaz wasn't lying when he said the new recruit was from the moon," Soap said, touching his forehead and grinning. "Tell me at least you know that, absurdly, we’re fighting plants." His casual demeanor might have been a good distraction if someone from your team hadn't just become compost for this 'main distributor.'
"If I were from the moon, I definitely wouldn't have volunteered to be sent to this shithole," you mutter, loosening your grip on the rifle slightly. Your gaze flickers to Price and Ghost, who have moved a few meters away and seem to be quietly communicating. Soap stays by your side, likely to watch over you.
Soap grins at you and then starts to regain your attention. "Well, some scientists have discovered that there’s a main distributor that can spread more seeds and thus expand everywhere. So, everything you see here—by that, I mean plants that move—is just a single plant within a four-kilometer radius."
That makes you think. One single plant had so much power over such a large area. Humanity would really need to prepare to change its way of life. But when you looked at Ghost—and you did so rather obviously at that moment—you doubted that a new way of life would be for everyone. He had probably grown up with war and danger, but what did you know, and it shouldn't concern you.
"And it hasn't been found yet?" you respond thoughtfully. "How do we know that such a main distributor exists?"
Now he looks at you, puzzled, and you could almost hear the gears turning in his head.
"Well, some scientists said so," he replied hesitantly, "and these things don't attack us again after such a situation," he added confidently. You looked at him skeptically. "So, this has happened before?"
He cleared his throat for a moment, and it seemed you had touched on a somewhat uncomfortable point.
"Hey, Soap, Rookie, we're going through the alleys to secure everything!" Price called to you. They had already moved quite a distance away. Ghost also looked back at the two of you, staring at Soap for a while before looking at you, his expression darkening.
"Come on, Rookie," Soap said, and you nodded absently. You didn't understand why Ghost always looked at you with such cold contempt.
"What’s our Lieutenant's problem, anyway?" you asked Soap quietly, holding the masked man's gaze.
"Oh, Ghost? He's been through a lot."
That didn’t surprise you in the slightest. "Well, that much is clear," you replied, breaking eye contact as the whole group moved through the alley. You inspected the wall, noticing it was crumbling, with small vines creeping along the old graffiti and new life sprouting from it. As you reached out to touch the plants, Ghost growled a warning in front of you.
"If you do that, I'll shoot your hand off, I promise you."
Your eyebrows furrowed as you looked up at him. You knew you were the new one among them and hoped Ghost would be a bit nicer to you soon, but life here wasn't a wish-fulfillment story. It never was.
"Thanks for the information, but I'll pass on that unnecessary crap. These are just normal plants. The vegetables on our roof don’t attack us either!"
"Unnecessary crap, huh? You could have died instead of the other rookie, for all I care. Looked like a normal plant to me too," he grumbled, his voice gravelly.
Price intervened and pointed cautiously to a side entrance, changing the subject. "Our lock has been broken," he said, calmer than expected, nudging the remnants of the lock aside with his boot. The chain, still trying to cling to the piece of scrap, jingled a little.
"And what's the problem with it being broken?" You inspected the lock, noticing the peeling paint on its remnants. Soap stepped in to explain. "We lock almost every building in our area after we’ve checked it. Depending on the color of the lock, we know whether it’s a building with supplies or one with potential dangers," he explained. So far, Soap was the most helpful person in this group. Ghost seemed to keep an eye on the surroundings, but he was more critical than helpful. Price didn’t contribute much to the conversations, but he led the group.
"What about buildings without doors?" After all, the building where the rookie disappeared had no markings. "We place something in front of the door that corresponds to the color. If we can’t find anything, we use spray paint. Buildings without markings should be avoided," he said with a grin, as if he had read your thoughts. Soap couldn’t explain further because Price pushed the heavy door open with his right shoulder and disappeared into the darkness. Ghost followed him. Soap patted you twice on the shoulder before nudging you toward the door, and you took a step into the darkness.
"Don't worry, we'll only find supplies here," Soap said behind you as you hesitantly put one foot in front of the other. Only a few beams of moonlight penetrated through the boarded-up windows, and you scanned the shelves. Canned food, hygiene products, cigarettes, and some sugary drinks caught your eye, but almost everything else was empty.
"Shit, those bastards made off with a whole crate of cans," Ghost cursed from the next room. "Clothes too," added Price as he returned to the main room with Soap and you. You took in the information, but the rest of their conversation blended with the sounds of the night. Something else had caught your attention. You had to adjust to the darkness, but you quickly noticed a similar-looking vine apparently trying to creep toward the windows. You had a bad feeling about it, but something in your body urged you to follow it. You followed the vine and disappeared behind some empty shelves. You opened the door to another room, which seemed to be a bathroom.
A dusty sink, a toilet, and a bathtub with the curtain drawn. As you glanced at the floor, you saw more than just the one vine from before. Several small ones slithered from the bathtub toward the door. As you took a step toward the bathtub, you noticed an open box with some cans and stacked clothes. Wasn't that the missing clothing?
Cautiously, you pulled the curtain aside and saw a person huddled inside, wrapped in the tangled mesh of this fern. Startled, you took a step back and stumbled over the root winding its way out of the bathroom. You braced yourself for the impact on the dusty tile floor, but it never came. Instead, you were caught by something—or someone—standing like a bouncer behind you. Ghost. Your fingertips dug into his tactical vest, and you looked up in panic at his cool eyes, the only part of him that seemed to show any humanity. He held your gaze for a few more seconds before the bathtub with the corpse wrapped in plant material and the box of cans caught his attention.
"Supplies found!" he called into the hall behind him, pushing you aside to lift the crate. He walked past you as if nothing had happened, leaving you a bit unsettled.
You wanted to ask what they were going to do with the person in the bathtub, but the question became unnecessary when he stopped at the door and gestured wordlessly for you to get out of the room.
You cast one last glance at the corpse before running out of the room, and he slammed the door shut behind you.
"Price, Soap! We need an empty shelf here, the weeds are already coming out of the drains!"
It didn’t take long for the other team members to push one of the shelves in front of the door to block it. You were surprised they didn't try using chlorine or other chemicals. You could still see cleaning supplies on the shelves.
"Everyone, fill your backpacks. You can take a little something extra, just don't overdo it," Price said, his gaze lingering on you. You nodded almost imperceptibly and carefully made your way through the aisles. When you glanced over your shoulder, you saw Soap filling his bag greedily, grinning. The others were taking their time. You started filling your bag with small packages of rice.
Just as you reached for the next bag on the shelf, your fingers brushed against a leaf. You thought it might be fern. But there was no time for panic. An electrifying sensation surged through your body in seconds. Memories flooded through you—memories you had never had before. Children laughing and playing on a playground while you sat on a bench. Fragments of a relationship with a young woman flashed in your mind, memories of working in a warehouse, and finally, a memory of yourself, huddled in a bathtub, as roots and vines slithered toward you. You felt the fear and panic of this person, for these weren't your memories; they belonged to the dead man in the bathroom.
"Fern!"
Someone called out to you from a distance; everything seemed so surreal. It was as if reality and fantasy were blurring together, as if the countless sleepless nights and days were now taking their revenge.
"Goddammit, Fern!"
A strong yank backward snapped you out of the thoughts, out of the illusion that made you feel like you were that man. At first, you didn’t realize how heavily you were breathing. Only when reality caught up did you feel your lungs burning, as if you had run a marathon.
"Goddammit, Rookie! Answer when someone calls you," Soap hissed. You still seemed dazed, glancing around a bit disoriented as your eyes adjusted to the dim light.
Your head felt like it was full of cotton, and Soap's words sounded muffled. "I was lost in thought," you admitted hesitantly. "Sorry." Carefully, you stuffed another bag of rice into your backpack. You noticed your hand trembling. Soap noticed it too, but he said nothing, instead grabbing your collar and dragging you toward the exit where the others were, while you quickly slung your backpack over your shoulder and stumbled after him.
"Found the girl," Soap replied, a hint of annoyance in his voice. "You okay? You look like you're about to be sick," Price said, his tone partly indifferent. Ghost just stared at you with his intense gaze. Even when you parted your dry lips, hardly any words came out.
"I'm fine," you tried to respond firmly, pulling yourself away from Soap.
"I thought König was sending us his best recruit, not a dead weight," Ghost hissed before turning and heading back outside. Your eyebrows knitted together. Soap just sighed and glanced at you out of the corner of his eye. "I mean, Ghost isn't entirely wrong. Colonel König's training isn't exactly easy. Not sure how you managed it," he said casually, as if sprinkling salt into a freshly opened wound.
You pressed your lips together, nodded, and watched as Soap adjusted his pace to walk alongside Ghost. Now you stood next to Price, who also started moving slowly. Not wanting to be left behind in the store, you followed him and watched as he locked the door with a new lock and marked it with a colored dot.
"You seem a bit too clumsy, Rookie," Price said hesitantly as he started walking again, and you fell into step behind him.
"I haven't had much contact with plants, sir," you answered honestly and respectfully. The whole situation worried you a bit. Would they bench you or categorize you differently? You didn't know, and that uncertainty scared you. "But your file says otherwise, Fern," he replied with a certain emphasis, and your body tensed up. "I thought it was still in the US," you tried to lie or at least play dumb, considering how you had already acted today.
"Don't play dumb, Fern. I know where and under what circumstances you were found." Silence settled between the two of you before you both started moving again. You nodded quietly. "That's why König sent you to us so early. The base here might not stand for much longer. He said you could help us with that," Price admitted. You didn’t know what you could do. After all, you had no real idea what Price was talking about.
"I honestly don't know, sir," you replied firmly. Silence lingered between you. The topic was not closed, and the tension remained. Only the crunching of gravel scattered on the streets could be heard. Until Ghost stopped in front of you and raised his hand.
Before you stretched a building that creaked and crumbled. It almost looked as if one half would soon collapse inward, burying the street and the abandoned vehicles beneath it. A huge root seemed to be squeezing the building. If the situation were different, it would probably have been astonishing, if not a little aesthetic.
"We sneak through, over Checkpoint Charlie," Ghost said tersely as instruction, then made a hand gesture. The gesture would probably have sufficed for the other two, but you couldn't understand it. König didn't have enough time, or so he said to you. He taught you a lot, you learned quickly, and if you were being honest, you didn't know where it all came from. You barely did any sports, maybe just enough to stay fit, but still, you could anticipate, block, and even deliver blows. Even König was impressed that someone as small as you could withstand his blows and catch on so quickly.
Just as you snapped out of your trance, you saw Ghost crouching, darting across the street and staying covered. He pressed his back against the target, an overturned pickup truck. Now he looked at you, his ice-blue eyes focusing on you, and he made a head motion. That was the signal. You cast one last glance at the huge root winding around the building. Its movements had ceased, but that didn't stop you; on the contrary.
In a crouch, you sprinted across the street. Too late. The building was crushed by the root, and the debris and concrete walls fell onto the street, just as the root descended upon it. With a dive, you managed to find cover beside Ghost, behind the truck. However, the dust from the building, the shock of the fallen root, and the noise disoriented you. Ghost shouted something in your direction, but you could barely make it out until he brutally grabbed your shoulder, dragging you behind him, almost aimlessly trying to get off the street and orienting himself by other building walls.
Only one thing ran through your mind. You could have been dead. The stress tugged at your consciousness, but your adrenaline kept you running with Ghost until he pulled you into a building and pushed you down under the window, while he stood guard beside you. "...not far!" was the only thing you heard from your savior and lieutenant before you collapsed and the world enveloped you in blackness. You weren't prepared for such situations. And today, it seemed the team wasn't either.

they discontinued 1899, but there's most likely going to be a second a third season of wednesday. i'm telling you, if it's not 'editable' for tiktok, it's automatically a flop. people don't want content that makes you think anymore, they want cool scenes they can slap an overplayed song and cheap filter over, so that their brains don't shortcut when it's presented with content not compressed into something easily digestible. god, i hate it here

Uh-oh! You are like, SOOO awkward!!
You're so awkward that it is occasionally mildly uncomfortable for people!
You're so awkward that sometimes people are confused by you and then there are awkward silences!
You're so awkward ...... that ultimately no one is harmed!!
Oh damn!!! What a vile crime you have committed! What an unforgivable thing it is to make a fellow human briefly confused!
Why, if *I* were ever briefly confused and kind of uncomfortable as a result, I'd be devastated.... by the absolute net zero change in my happiness and health! - From which I might never recover!! Yes indeed! No punishment can ever be enough for you!!
So you better absolutely hate yourself for it.
Better be SO MEAN to yourself about every single missed social cue so you don't forget your horrible crime! Meaner than you'd ever dream of being to someone else for the same thing! This is YOUR responsibility!
Better accept that idea that bullies carry like guns in holsters - the idea that people who have trouble with social cues should suffer. Better carry on the burden they placed on you. Aid the cause of the callous by enforcing shame and suffering upon yourself extra hard; try your best to do their work for them. They're very busy.
Better not recognize that you need patience and kindness to heal from your trauma. Better not find out that it was trauma rather than personal weakness filling your head with self-hating thoughts. Better not find out it wasn't your fault.
Better not find out that awkwardness is not inherently harmful or unkind, and, in fact, the people who act like it is *are the ones enacting harm and being cruel.*
Better not get righteously angry when you realize just how much unnecessary damage this has done to you. After all, if you get mad, you might realize you deserve better. You might even feel brave enough to DEMAND better! You might build boundaries that keep you safe! You might make other people think they deserve to feel safe too! And we obviously can't be having that, so...
Better not show yourself even a little kindness a little bit at a time.
Better not make a habit out of it after all that practice.
Better not get confident.
Especially if you can't first wipe out every trace of awkward. (And you probably never will. Because people who experience absolute social certainty at all times tend to be insufferable assholes that enforce the status quo. And you just don't have the stock portfolio for that.)
Better not be confident and awkward because then you might confuse and delight people
- you might accidentally end up making other people feel less shame for their social difficulties
- you might make isolated, traumatized, and shy people feel like they deserve to be included in social situations
- you might even make them feel they can be themselves around you
- you might start loving the effect you have on a room
- you might enjoy conversations more
- you might forgive yourself and bounce back from shame more easily and frequently
- you might come to enjoy some of those moments of harmless confusion you cause because NOBODY expects the Confident Awkward, and that can genuinely be an advantage in social situations
- you might stop apologizing so much.
- you might find that socializing is like a video game: it requires practice but also a safe space for it to be fun and positive.
Or if you can't become assertive and confident, better not remain awkward and shy and quiet, and then love and forgive yourself anyway!
Why, it would be carnage!!
In either scenario, you run the risk of finding out that it's not your fault that safe spaces full of kind people can be really hard to find, create, and nurture. You could end up building a skillset that helps you do those things!
- You might realize that it was never your fault that it took so long to like yourself.
- You might realize that you were always worth talking to, even when you didn't like yourself and communication felt impossibly difficult.
- You might realize that you'll still be worth talking to even if communication becomes harder as you age and/or experience disability.
- You might know that you deserve to be heard even on bad days when words come slow and blurry.
You might discover that you were always deserving of kindness, first and foremost from yourself.
So. As you can see, it's FAR too much of a risk to take to cut your awkward self some slack for your many heinous and harmless crimes. Better to just leave it there.
#social skills#i have a few posts now in my ' social skills' tag#original#maybe eventually I will compile them and polish them in some meaningful way. I know what I want to call the book title#in big text it'll say 'I'M AUTISTIC' and then beneath that in smaller text 'And I Have Better Social Skills Than You'#or something to that effect. and the cover of the book will be me making an exaggerated smug face like the little rascal I am#challenging the viewer to pick up the book and see if they can prove me wrong.#and then the entire first section of the book is about how actually the issue with our society's social skills is the harsh judgment#for people who have trouble communicating and not the other way around. I don't actually think I'm the#most charismatic person in the world by a very long shot. but i do know that I have put more thought into my social skills than#most allistic people and frankly i have surpassed most of them. not because i am more persuasive or smooth or funny#(tho i am persuasive and funny lol) but bc i have questioned which social functions are more restriction than utility.#and instead i have focused my energy on actively learning how to make people feel safe. i feel social rules would benefit all people by#being a little more autistic tyvm. i don't think every person should dedicate themselves to being better at communicating#i think people should dedicate themselves to being kind and patient to everyone regardless of their ability to communicate#I think our society wrongly links communication ability to intelligence and intelligence to level of humanity.#when in fact all three of those things are fucking unrelated and connecting them inevitably leads to#really fucked up views on disabled people that hurt us. and then with that aspect of the book firmly understood and established I would#go on to recommend some ways to make socializing easier and more fulfilling (and less shameful and terrifying) for all kinds of people#it wouldn't be a book about Leaning In To Succeed in Business or 'here's how to avoid being the awkward loner at a party'#it'd be a book about how if you see someone alone at a party here's how to invite them to join your group without pressuring them#stuff like 'hot tip! if someone takes a while to type or speak a full sentence - talking over them b4 they can finish makes u an asshole!'#I know that a lot of people cannot or don't want to dump a lot of skill points into socializing like i did and they shouldn't have to in#order to experience basic dignity and respect. if we treat people like that then we just validate that people - especially#autistic children and elders and disabled people of manu varieties - have to suffer unless they learn all these arbitrary bullshit rules#and a lot of them are arbitrary bullshit! one of the reasons I throw people off so much is because I harmlessly break a lot of social rules#but I know I'm doing it and I'm not ashamed and people just don't know what to do with that! but a lot of them like it actually!!#i think it's a relief to be around someone so openly and unrelentingly weird bc what am I gonna do? judge you for being weird??#I only care if you're kind. not necessarily 'nice' or passive. Kind. Brave enough to care about people being treated well. Kind.#also I recognize that at least some of my ability to be openly weird is white privilege so that's important to acknowledge too

You know I think we can resolve a lot of our problems and moral dilemma by asking ourselves "does this really matters that much?"
#this is mostly in relation to current moral panic specifically in france but i think it van apply to a variety of contexts#like idk if yall know but france hate muslim people (specifically women) so much and it's so absurd#like... so much debate over muslim girls in school specifically#'we can't let them wear hijabs cuz hijab is a symbol of oppression*' okay well does it really matters that much?#isn't it more important to let them go to fucking school in peace instead of forcing them to remove it#(*i know it's stupid but that's the mainstream view of the hijab in france)#'but we have to stay religiously neutral at school' why? i understand teachers being religiously neutral but students who care?#wouldn't it be better to let anyone exprime their identity instead of forcing a standard‚ so‚ y'know‚ people can learn about diversity?#'well sometimes they refuse to go to swimming lessons because they don't want to be half naked in front of boys/men'#yeah i can understand that somehow not sure it's specific to their religion tho maybe we shouldn't force kids to get half naked idk#maybe we could allow them to go to female only swimming lessons if they want to#'WHAT?! but that's separating bous from girls that's sexist and we won't surrender to that backwards vie-' does it really matters?#obviously i don't believe society should be segregated between men and women but here isn't it more important that those kids learn to swim?#(yeah i fucking hate this debate)#and that works for a lot of subjects#'but trans people-' that's 0.09% of people what the fuck are you talking about#'but if we let kids transition and they regret it' yeah what if? sometimes people do shit they regret (but let's look at the stats too)#if they have regrets we should support and help them and that's it#and like‚ sometimes the answer is 'yes' and if it is you have to keep fighting for your cause#but you have to choose your fights donlt waste energy again things that don't matter that much

the last issue of Young Justice: Targets is out now on amazon and DC Universe Infinite. and a free version here.
this very well may be the last we ever see of Earth-16.
I think back to around this exact day six years ago when it was announced that YJ was finally renewed for a 3rd season after it had been canceled in 2012.
I have to say I was really disappointed in season 3 for a number of reasons. I didn't like that they had the team members lying and keeping secrets from each other when they already learned in season 2 not to do that. it just felt like rehashing previous themes. I found season 4 much more enjoyable but it did still have some flaws, mainly some characters being sidelined in their own arcs.
I'm going to pour my heart out a little bit here but only because this is likely the end of the yjtv universe and I have to say just how much this show really meant to me, especially about 10 years ago. it first aired when I was 14 and I was pretty depressed back then. I've talked about this in these posts from several years ago: here, here, and here. the point is that I was sad and lonely when the show first came out and watching it made me feel less alone. I had suicide ideation and I remember thinking to myself "I can't kill myself because then I'll miss the new episode of Young Justice" which I know is sad but that's just how I was back then. the show literally saved by life. I'm in a much better place now mentally (no longer in high school at least).
I fully admit that I have on rose-colored glasses when it comes to this show. I mean I just criticized season 3 but I do still have a lot of love for this show, especially season 1. but I'm not going to pretend like it's loyal to the comics in the slightest. like I totally understand that a lot of people don't like yjtv because of how different the characters, relationships, and back stories are. I totally understand not liking it because it's definitely not an adaptions of the 1998 Young Justice comic run (which is a crying shame because that run deserves a faithful animated adaptation).
but it's the show that got me into DC Comics! I was into Marvel when I was younger and yjtv is the first DC property that I ever really got attached to. (I had seen bits and pieces of Shumacher's Batman and Robin movie and also the Teen Titans Trouble in Tokyo movie but that's about it as far as DC stuff I was familiar with back then) so the Young Justice animated show does hold a special place in my heart for that reason. it inspired me to watch Batman the animated series, Batman Beyond, and Justice League/Unlimited. I don't know if I ever would have really gotten into DC as much as I did if I had never watched yjtv at that critical time in my life as a teenager. it's strange to think just how different my life might have been if I had never watched it. or maybe my life wouldn't have been any different at all. who knows. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I still just have a lot of love for the show despite all of its many flaws but some of the flaws are kind of hard to ignore. idk I feel like I'm rambling. I don't know where I'm going with this but I am having some feelings about this probably being the last Earth-16 thing we ever get to see. I was sad when HBO didn't pick it up for a 5th season but maybe it's for the best.
let's just say there's a reason why my blog description is what it is: "yj helped me not kill myself 10 years ago so now I feel the need to continue praising it even though it doesn't warm my heart the same way that it used to and it genuinely hurts to admit that."
(but also I do actually kind of really want that season 5 and beyond so like please renew it warner bros please)

maybe the most sad / annoying / petty thing is that i don't really feel like being close to one of my best friends anymore and i swear i would still want to be close to her if covid didn't happen

FFXIV COMMUNITY WIDE FYI
-no one expects you to be perfect at rping a non-western character
-however, when rping a non-western character, you shouldn't be doing cursory research by itself
-it is not a high standard for people expect you to take ownership for writing racist tropes by accident. accept your mistakes and move on.
-it is not offensive if someone calls out an action as racist. that person respects you enough to tell you the truth. honor their respect.
-it is not ok to tell people not to feel offended by the mistakes you might make on this journey
-people will inevitably cringe when you get things wrong. it is a part of life. it happens when you learn languages not native to you.
-grow a thick skin. be humble when people offer their corrections.
-it's on you to learn how your character thinks and breathes through the lens of their culture, and how that cultural influence affects them as a person. take care not to literalize this, though.
-ffxiv does not present great examples of cultural knowledge. don't consider it gospel, but inspiration.
-read between the lines of cultural references in regions. be gentle with your assumptions. tread carefully on subjects you write.
-try to learn the irl history, what the irl people think of their own history, and how people talk about their own culture now. watch television, read books, look at philosophies in depth.
-i promise, the real world IS always relevant to the game world. you can't actually escape reality. sorry to be the one to tell you.
-if you don't know what a word means, try to find a different way to write about the thing. 100% of the time, you will find you have avoided doing The Racisms. speaking as an ex doer of The Racisms.
-don't be afraid to ask questions. you look dumber when you assume shit. you might look like a genius if you happen on the right questions.
-have pride in the fact that you are trying. every day, you're getting a little bit better. i'm proud of you for trying your best.
-if you aren't up for the challenge of straying from your comfort zone to learn new things, consider more familiar areas of interest.
-reblog to potentially save other fans of color from future discomfort
