Lost fic Found!

I was in a discussion about shifter!Stiles earlier and it made me think of this fic which I can't remember and I wanna reread it dammit.

Probably Sterek but I'm honestly not 100% on the ship

Stiles was afraid of and hated raccoons (he'd say it was because of their creepy little hands)

small animals were being sacrificed and they found a den of abandoned baby raccoons that Stiles wouldn't leave out in the woods even though he didn't like them

There's a scene where they go into a cave and Stiles gets scared when a raccoon jumps out at him and he involuntarily shifts a teensy bit

(which is how we find out that Stiles is a shifter and Scott knows, but no one else does)

I think the reason he doesn't like raccoons has something to do with his shifted form??

The All of You (ao3) i fuckin love this story so hard. i love the OC. i love the writing. i love the set up. i reread this probably every month or so and pine for more. it's so fuckin good. @lazarel-3000 is a double-threat (at least) who is also on my recced artist list, which means (obviously) they are a recced creator as well.

Casino Royale (ao3) this fic by @hibatasblog (see also: Entanglement, below) is so fucking delightful. petra quill is so hot i want to date her myself, and the tension between her and rocket is through the roof. loving the angst, loving the little ways that heartbreak seeps through every new paragraph, loving the mystery of trying to figure out what happened to petra and rocket to set them on their separate paths and now bring them back together. always waiting anxiously for the next chapter.

Entanglement (ao3) this fic by @hibataao3 has me rationing my consumption in a way i have not done in a long time. i'm like "i only read one chapter a week to pace myself, as a little treat for surviving another seven days." beautiful writing and intricate storytelling, the metaphors and analogies are so good i almost wish i was back in undergrad writing a thesis on it.

Friends (tumblr) @nyxivy is making their way through the rocketober 2023 prompts and the first fic of the series is. so drool-worthy. i've probably read it fifty times since it came out. short and so hot i could die (much like rocket himself), and somehow incredibly sweet in just the span of a few paragraphs? i will continue coming back to this fic and look forward to more from them at every chance i get.

Get Up (tumblr)@caesarhamato22 is another person on my recced creator list because trying to find just one fic to call my "favorite" is a challenge (obviously i was unsuccessful because there are two on this list). anyway this is lovely and fluffy. i die.

last (friday) night (ao3) nsfw. trying to pick a "favorite" of @aliasrocket's work is like trying to choose a favorite incarnation of rocket (i cannot). guess who is also on my recced creators list.

more than seven (tumblr) second @caesarhamato22 fic on this list and another recced creator. this one is one of my favorite comfort fics (i mean it's still sexy as hell) that i come back to very often. like it's just so wonderful and sweet and perfect and atmospheric and vibes

@bathmob i wish. i could draw rocket. like this. the vibes are so good. the style. is perfect. i thank the universe whenever i see new art from them.

@glow-autumz is absolutely going to be a published comic artist some day and i will buy anything she works on ever. literally everything she creates has a story behind it, which i love. like, not only are her illustrations gorgeous (and like…often very hot) but every single one is (at least) a single-panel narrative. plus her OC is also cool as hell and i love her interpretations of rocket.

@lazarel-3000 creates the most toe-curlingly delicious art i've seen in a long time. i am seduced by pretty much everything they create. even their rough drafts have me panting. (i also have a crush on their OC and as a bi-lady i look at their art and am often like oh shit this is a fuckin feast). as mentioned before, this artist is also the author of one of my favorite fics and is a recommended creator in general.

@uglly-rodent posts always make me want to pinch the babby raccoom's cheeks and/or cry.

@aliasrocket writes such beautiful things it is impossible to pick a favorite (i got two of their fics in the fic section and it was difficult to narrow it down that far and even now, i'm not certain). their tumblr has the added advantage of a ton of drabbles, every single one of which is perfection.

@caesarhamato22 read everything. like everything. great smut but i am a sucker for the slice of life shit and it's so fuckin good here. i just wanna be a nail tech on knowhere/locked in a closet with rocket/have him steal my t-shirt/whatever. it's like all my most domestic desires got turned into little fanfiction dreams. so much wish fulfillment i could die

@elegant-fleuret has great fanfiction (more than just the one on my fic list - i just felt like i had to narrow it down and A Very Basic Instinct literally gives me a a fresh hit of dopamine every time i reread it, which is a lot). plus also art. double-threat.

@evolvingchaoswitch writes with a ton of vulnerability and rawness and angst. i am also in love with the shorter pieces they've been putting out for rocketober 2023 (some really great poetry, some really emotional oneshots, some really hot oneshots). plus their OCs always fuckin rock

@lazarel-3000 look. look. i cannot say this enough. please go check them out they are hope in a hopeless place. some of the sexiest art + one of my very favorite fanfictions + one of my very favorite OCs have come out of this flawless individual. (full disclosure they also did some nsfw art of my OC jolie and rocket that has me crying and dying and hyperventilating on a daily basis)

@love-for-faeries-go-burrrr has another one of my favorite OCs and i am always hungry for their little storylines whenever they post.

@mrwolfhare is one of my favorite sources of gotg food-for-thought. just some of the most thoughtful explorations of the details of both the mcu and comic canon, excellent headcanons, beautiful screenshot sets, and really solid art. the drawtober art and ficlets have been highlights in my days this month and i'm told there may be a rad fanfiction on the horizon so keep your eyes on this! I have. Like. So many songs that I associate with the bayverse turtles. I kinda…… maybe….. have a playlist on Spotify for vibes that go with each of them. Not really like “this song reminds me of this turtle” but more like “Mikey makes me feel x so this playlist is gonna have songs that make me feel x”

I do think they probably listen to vastly different music than what reminds ME of them however. Canonically we know they’re at least all into hip hop, enough to make a Christmas album, and groups like Wu Tang Clan. and despite everyone collectively deciding Leo likes eastern style music dude was still twerking in an elevator to beat box so for a date night vibe~

I can see Mikey listening to In The Club or Apple Bottom Jeans. Just anything border line embarrassing. Throw some Lonely Island in there. If you cannot hear him shouting “calling 911 shorty fire burning on the dance floor” I’m sorry but I can lol

Raph maybe 30 by Nas or I really think he’d like NF. Idk like Raph is the one turtle that music that reminds me of him is probably also the music he listens to. Really anything that you can work out to I bet he listens to.

Leo is eeeeeehhhh cuz I’m blinded by the Feelings but I think he’d listen to older music when he’s by himself. I got bit by the Tally Hall Hidden in the Sand bug and I can just imagine him humming along to it. I think he’d also enjoy eighties electronic music.

Donnie I could see him listen to classic rock when he’s not listening to filthy shit while he’s working. Things like AC/DC, Blue Oyster Cult or Tears For Fears.

2. Do you have any merch?

My aunt bought me Aziraphale's winged mug when she heard I was obsessed with Good Omens! I don't drink out of it all the time (cause it's a pain to wash), but it's the best way to drink hot chocolate :)

5. What is you favorite good omens one-shot?

A fun fact about me is I love stories that deal with intense feelings of guilt and the way other characters interact with that (and hopefully make it better). So if you wanna deal with some delicious guilt complexes, Be a Friend to Your Friend by WitherAndDecay is excellent!

A happier (and smuttier) option is Unexpected, But Long-Awaited by KitCat_Italica! It's a beautiful story of Aziraphale and Crowley's first time together, complete with laughter and a tickle fight!

8. Do you prefer season one or season two and why?

Season one will always have a special place in my heart because I first watched it over lockdown and completely obsessed over the ineffable husbands (back when I thought I was straight and wasn't on Tumblr). It was just such a source of comfort for me during a terrible time, and it had the happy ending I so desperately needed

Season two is delightful, but my goodness does it give me anxiety! Embarrassingly, I have really struggled to watch it all the way through and have had to resort to chunks at a time. I'm sure I'll grow to love it just as much, but something about the interpersonal conflict just makes it way more stressful for me than the literal end of the world in season one

22. What's your favourite Crowley hairstyle through the ages?

Oh absolutely the chin length with the little bun! It's a classic for a reason! (Although any time Crowley presents as a woman my brain fries a little bit)

I think you will find that my taste is actually kind of garbage but like, in a fun way that makes you go "wow really???" rather than being so embarrassed for me that you can never look at me again. of course that would be fine too haha you know, don't yuck my yum etc but I will try to put together my unfuckable old man rec list right here, right now, and we can all just live with that

4. Hexadyne Meetings - Saesama (the rarity of bro and nanna fics could absolutely destroy me but i really like the interactions between all of the guardians in this one)

5. Flop, Flutter - cthchewy (technicality, big nasty soulless bro yikes sorry)

6. The Estrangement Thing - NoBrandHero (there’s a theme here listen to me don’t be doubtful it’s worth the trouble, there is brojohn in there, which is not my thing at all, but it is NOT relevant to what i like about this fic, and i think if u read it, u will realize that immediately lol (*i am not including second best even though that fic is literally my favorite ds fic ever because it is NOT bro centric))

7. cold front off the pacific - drow_sy (i actually read this bc geometrician bookmarked it lol but it punches down on u and i like that)

8. insect clockwork - SORD (aka, if it was written pre-2013, i’ve read it)

sitting here wondering if the by|er fandom's resistance to AU fics is because for many this is their first time in fandom or if they just really Do like the canon plot of stranger things that much 🤔 hmmmmm..

i can no longer in good conscience gatekeep beneddie from the masses, i am nothing if not a fair and diplomatic ruler of the au, so have a tiny piece of this sad, wet, pathetic cat of a man with his gay little desires only realised through his son

When Eddie blinks up at him, narrow-eyed but just a little fond, Buck is helpless to prevent the smile tugging at his lips.

"Hi."

"Hey," Eddie replies after a beat too long. He shakes his head in confusion. "What are you doing here?"

"Your budget taskforce was interfering with Bobby's romantic cruise plans, so he made me the parks and rec representative." Buck lets the smugness of his smile infect the words too, languishing in the small tick of Eddie's lips like he wants nothing more than to share in the joke with him. He hopes that one day Eddie will allow himself to do so. "I have so many ideas, I'm so excited. You're in for a real special summer."

"I don't doubt that," Eddie murmurs to the laptop.

"Hey, um, how's Christopher?" Buck tries not to be too offended by the shock on Eddie's face when his neck snaps up to look at him, reminds himself of the guarded defensiveness Eddie had hoarded Christopher away with in the microbrewery. He knows its nothing personal, but it stings all the same. "Did he enjoy the concert? I tried to find you guys before it ended, but things got a little hectic."

"Ah, we left at the start of Doe and Daisy's set, you wouldn't have found us. Chris gets sleepy in the sun, he conked out on the blanket before Tagliatelle in my belly." Eddie bites his lip and rearranges his notes on the desk before putting them back in their original place. "Wouldyouliketocometothezoowithus?"

Y'know how some people have dreams of driving and the brakes don't work?

Why is this never utilized in transformers fanfics? Bots that turn into cars and dreaming that they can't stop, or fliers dreaming of falling out of the sky or not being able to get off the ground no matter how hard they try. Of all the stress and feeling like they have no control over the war and never once have I seen it used in fic or any TF media for that matter.
