Wei Wuxian is a secret author and wrote two romance books: 'No Apologies and Thank Yous' and 'Our Song'. He based these stories on his own love life from him and his husband.
What he didn't expect was that his nephews and son would fight over which couple was superior in a poll.
They would write pages on pages of evidence of why the couple they were supporting was superior. Even though he felt happy they loved the book that much, there was no need to go to such lengths because in essence they were both made from the same people.
When he told them as such, Jin Ling was frozen, Ouyang Zizhen jumped in glee because he always had such suspicions, Lan Sizhui was unsurprised (he secretly voted for both ships) and Lan Jingyi fainted.
distraught over the results of the andreil vs moshang posts.
aftg is *not that good* for many reasons including that the main antagonists were a japanese family who were portrayed in a kind of icky stereotypical way, and personally i don’t think that andrew and neil were even the relationship that was at the center of it. like they’re fine. sure, they help each other deal with their trauma but for both of them all they really needed for that was the team, like that was the whole point of it that through this team they were all able to heal?? ‘he stopped when he said no’ guys that is consent 101. or not even consent 101, it’s like the first line of the ‘consent for dummies’ book. also, if we’re talking ships in terms of queerness, i would say that aftg just as a series is not as queer as it could be, mostly due to the focus on naming sexuality (thinking of nicky here), and also tbh i do not remember if it passes the bechdel test because there were sooo many men in it
but moshang? scum villain? you do not get more queer or campy than scum villain. scum villain is about taking a shitty straight power story and turning it into what the author wanted to write and didn’t because he sold out, which is a narrative about a gay man who is absolutely fucking obsessed with his teacher and just loves him so much. moshang is all of the physical violence of andreil that y’all seem to love so much and all the saving too but their relationship is just so much more innately queer. shang qinghua did not write his perfect man, get transmigrated into his own novel, get wifeplotted into being with this man constantly, and call him ‘my king’ to lose to some scrawny white boys.
and during asian american pacific islander heritage month too. (for legal reasons i’m joking but as an asian i always vote asian and i think everyone else should too during the month of may)
hello I haven't been active on Tumblr in a while so I don't know if brackets/tournaments are still a thing, but they are in my heart of hearts
So! Welcome to:
The Star Wars Pilots Showdown!!
As far as I know, this hasn't been done before, so here we go!
Basically, this is a tournament for all Star Wars characters who are notable for their fancy flying! Although, it's basically open to any SW character that has ever flown a ship without crashing it. They do not have to be "canon" characters (i.e. they can be from Visions or something).
You can submit any characters from any Star Wars media (movie, TV show, book, comic, etc.)! There is no guarantee that your character will make it in. There are no characters who will be automatically part of the bracket before any submissions are made.
Here's the Google Form for submissions! Go nuts! I have not yet decided when submissions will be closed. I'll play it by ear.
Tagging other random bracket accounts because I think that's a Thing you're meant to do to get your bracket Out There:
@paysomeonetopaysomeone alerted me to the fact that ronan and adam LOST in a poll to wei wuxian and lan wangji on @queer-book-character-tournament blog
WE ARE HAVING A (very biased) REMATCH
and because this is very biased here is evidence as to Why adam and ronan are honestly just the best ship ever:
thank you for tagging me @jasontoddiefor <3 hehe this was fun!
3 Ships You Like: aside from the obvious, i'll put mianmian/jyl/jzxuan, thunderblink, and i've been on a sterek kick recently, so i'll finish up with them!
First Ship Ever: kitty pryde/illyana rasputin and i still love them!
Last Song You Heard: a punk cover of Shawn Mendes' "Stitches" performed by State Champs
Favourite Children Book: Tajar Tales!!
Currently Reading: oh several things, as usual. rn i'm rereading The Dark Phoenix Saga in Uncanny X-Men, The New Mutants (not a comic book but a queer theorist's take on comic book history) by Ramzi Fawaz, ORV, and Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
Currently Watching: Six Nations (both the current tournament and the netflix doc, because sometimes you just need to overload on rugby), The Gifted (again, because i'm on an x-men kick i guess?), and Blue Eye Samurai
Currently Consuming: nothing and i'm hungry about it
Currently Craving: tea. and breakfast fried rice.
Tagging: @amethyst-noir , @intoxicatingimmediacy , @epistemologys , @greywake , @dragons-of-ara , if any of you feel like it, and anyone else who wants to play!!
Look, I know that I already have 2 tournaments in the works but why not start a 3rd one ?
- Don't submit real people
- No MCYT characters
- The tournament targets characters named Lucifers especially but they don't have to be a direct representation of the devil (Lucifer from Cinderella's animated movie can be submitted, Voland from the Master and Margarita can't)
- Characters with clearly Lucifer-adjacent names are allowed (you can submit Calcifer from Howl's Moving Castle, for example)
- Submit as many characters as you want but only once each
- Propaganda's allowed but please avoid anti-propaganda
- Be kind to one another
The form's here and the submissions are open.
Could you please reblog this ? I feel like your followers could be interested and I need more submissions
The Anime Binge-Watcher's Queer Anime Ship Tournament: FINAL RESULTS!
And just like that... we have our winner.
WINNER: Utena Tenjou x Anthy Himemiya (Revolutionary Girl Utena)
And really, who else could it be? UtenAnthy isn't just one of the earliest and most iconic queer ships in all of otaku fandom, it's arguably the most influential queer anime ship of all time. So many movies, shows, books and more, anime and otherwise, owe at least some of their DNA to the trail Utena first blazed. These two are more than titans: they're the blueprint that so many storytellers can't help but draw from time and time again. I can't think of a more worthy winner to this contest of queer anime ships.
(Well yes I can actually but if HibiMiku couldn't make it to the final round then this is a fine compromise no I'm not still salty what gave you that idea)
Anyways, thank you all for joining me on this fun experiment! If you discovered me through this tournament, feel free to stick around and choose the anime I watch and talk about. Also be sure to check out the Webtoon I'm writing, Beyond the Sable Shore! Thank you all, and enjoy the rest of your day!
FINALE RESULTS: Utena x Anthy (58.7%) vs Madoka x Homura (41.3%), 600 votes

OTP or NOTP: A Tournament of Cosplay Pairings 3:15-4:00 PM Room 207A Blackbeard/The Joker? Jawa/Princess Peach? Vegeta/Bob the Tomato?!? Join The Fic List (a fan-fiction book club podcast you should definitely be listening to) for this low-stakes, highly silly Tournament of Pairings. Do we ship it? It’s up to the audience! Cosplayers of all levels and fandoms are welcome and encouraged to drop in, show off, and square up in random pairings to determine the ultimate OTP. Participation in the tournament will be on a first-come, first-served basis, so come by early to ensure your spot! During the event, we will randomly pair cosplayers together, and the audience will vote for the pairings they ship (OTPs). Silliness may ensue. We're voting on the character pairing - not the quality of your cosplay - and the goal is to have fun and generally celebrate fandom and shipping culture.
Gays in Star Wars, its more likely than you think.
Welcome to the bracket for queer Star Wars characters, from movie characters quietly confirmed to be queer to the most minor of book characters. Here they will compete to find the ultimate gay in space! This is for characters who are textually (or almost so) queer, and as such there is no need for nominations.
Every poll comes with a description of each characters, but we encourage you to submit propaganda for each character about why they should be voted for. Any propaganda against another character that is judged overly hostile or more for discourse shit-stirring than good fun won’t be published (if its off anon, we’ll let you know what’s wrong with it)
The bracket will begin on July 5th, with 3 polls per day, each running for a week. Only after all polls resolve will the next round begin.
