I was curious how a ship being queer interacted with whether it is canon. So I graphed Tumblr's Year in Review top 100 ships based on whether they were canon and whether they were queer

(the percentage stands for what percent of queer ships each queer column takes up and what percent of straight ships each straight column takes up, NOT percent of all ships)

so queer ships were more likely to not be canon, and grey area ships (such as mutual pining) were more likely to be straight ships

The new Loki episode comes out tonight and if it’s revealed that Mobius only cares for Loki because he is a Thor variant, I will be pissed off.

I’m not just saying this as a Lokius shipper, which is a whole other conversation, because marvel, without a doubt, utilized their queer audiences when marketing the season, and if they were to throw in a twist, it would be incredibly disheartening.

However, I am saying this as a fan of Loki, the character, he has been through so much and so much development and if the twist is that nobody is capable of caring for him other than his mother and brother, I will be inevitably disappointed.

Also, Mobius is his own character and I don't want him to just be a Thor replacement. I would much rather see him discover that he was just a normal person, with a normal life.

I guess we can’t do anything but sit back and watch.

What is it with long-running queer ships going canon in like the most surreal ways possible??

Destiel went canon, and then went canon several more times in different languages, when Castiel told Dean he loved him before getting sucked down to superhell. This event caused so much disturbance on here we now celebrate it as a Tumblr holiday.

Baffy went canon only because the social media person in charge of the Looney Tunes Insta account seemingly has a grand total of zero filter or moderation and posted a bunch of Baffy edits.

Now Velma/Daphne has gone canon in probably the worst adaptation of Scooby Doo so far that everybody hates, in which Velma's insufferable and judgemental and Daphne sells drugs named after Scooby Doo catchphrases.
