Ok I promise that I'll shut the fuck up about the dog metaphor after this but: Kaz being Haskell's rabid dog and Jesper being Aditi's little rabbit is honestly diabolical..... what do dogs do but chase rabbits and what do rabbits do but flee dogs. Kaz is chasing an image of Jordie he's never going to be able to catch, and Jesper will never let himself be caught, because that would mean facing up to... A lot of things! and honestly he's probably worried about what the hell Kaz would do if he did catch him! so they keep running, and maintain the weird distance and impasse between them. and unless Kaz can learn to drop that persona, that's how it has to be. and honestly. what the fuck.

i forget how much jesper was going THROUGH it in crooked kingdom. he punches kaz, gets into a big fight with his dad, and kisses kuwei - all in TEN PAGES

Kaz and Jesper friendship is like. It's complicated it's flawed it's hilarious it's toxic it's heartbreaking it's heartwarming

They are coworkers they are best friends they are brothers

They are constantly disappointed by each other because they want to see something that isn't there

They fight all the time but also joke all the time. They work so well together and look like smart, extremely dangerous people but also share the most ridiculous, childish conversation. They willingly put each other in danger but would loose their mind if something bad happened to the other. They bring out the best AND the worst in each other

They love each other but also hate each other a little bit

Wylan: Can I ask you a favor? Jesper: I would literally die for you, but continue. Wylan: We need to talk about you starting sentences that way.

The Crows’ Sibling Alignment

this is going to be ramble-y and probably only make half-sense but here we go.

Matthias is an eldest sibling. It’s canon, it’s obvious. He holds the weight of the world on his shoulders trying to be responsible in the group of people he’s been given.

Nina is a middle sibling with younger sibling traits. She had to fight for positive attention in the Little Palace, and learned that negative attention is still attention.

Inej is a youngest sibling. Ignoring the show, and taking a guess about Suli culture, I’d say she grew up around her cousins and they were all sort of raised together. Although she may not have any biological siblings, she was always the baby.

Kaz is a youngest sibling. No one else could have that much audacity.

Jesper is an only child with eldest sibling traits. Going from golden child to family disappointment is a pipeline 90% of eldest children have to go through. (Myself included). He puts a lot of pressure on himself, and wants to be good for his Da but he struggles.

Wylan is an only child. It’s canon, it’s obvious. But not only is he an only child, he’s a homeschooled only child.

Just saying , relatively there´s little difference in how Jesper acted with Wylan than how Nikolai acted with Mal or how Kaz acted with Matthias. The one thing pretty much being that Wylan actually knew how to fight back.
