Now, I know I take long breaks from this blog, because ya know discourse and mental health gotta remember to take care, but I digress.
Have I missed stuff in the shipcourse arguments that suggest pro shippers believe somebody HAS to use the coping mechanism of participating in dark fiction?? I’m wondering because I was scrolling something completely different lmao but I check dnis and I saw a bunch of them that had “proship dni” and the reasoning was: for their own personal shit the ops don’t feel personally safe participating in dark fiction??
That’s not even an antiship statement?? Right?? Like that’s literally just not using the fiction coping tool?? Which is absolutely fine to do???
I just find that sad, if enough people are sharing opinions that someone feels the need to put a dni there. I thought people were just arguing about the stuff being fictional damn.
Also, just to note here. I actively scroll through both proship and antiship tags when sharing my thoughts.
Soooo
Don’t fucking call me pro or anti anything. You don’t get to choose what I am. aka I’m not a proshipper or an anti. I just talk about what I see.

As a rabid supporter of dark fiction: the moral crusades in the CSM fandom really need to shut up and stop preaching about Makima. She's not real. Denji isn't real. We can sexualize and glorify the way she treats Denji all we want. Stop assuming we support that in real life. Stop dragging real life into your anti-dark fic whiny posts and just cope.
CSM is for a mature audience. We're not responsible for those that cannot handle the themes in it. Stop twisting everything to real life. Fictional characters don't have rights or feelings and we're not hurting anyone. Shut up and f'n cope.

The woke bums being so offended over Purple Heart just goes to show how pro censorship and anti dark fiction they are no matter how much they pretend to be anti censorship and pro dark fiction until it’s time to be a snowflake over something they don’t like.
But the moment we don’t want to watch something they made because of their lazy woke agenda—man hating, hating white people, lazy race bending, lazy sexuality bending, and lazy gender bending we’re called Nazis, misogynists, white supremacists, transphobes, homophobes, etc.
The movie is probably going to suck anyway and be full of woke nonsense since the main female character is supposedly a leftist lmao.
Fiction is allowed to exist whether you like it or not.

When antis say they're pro-dark fiction as long as the dark themes aren't glorified, I really don't believe them because most dark works of fiction don't hold your hand and explain to you that it's not okay.

it’s kinda concerning that whenever someone has been outed as being a horrible person I have to play the game of “have they actually done horrible stuff or did they just make/like some weird fanfiction?”

It's laughable when I see people saying stuff like "writing dark fiction isn't a healthy coping mechanism!" or "your therapist should have their license revoked if they support you engaging in kinks such as ageplay or CNC!"
I'm going to trust the three licensed therapists I've been to with these issues over a 14 year old named Hayden on Tumblr with the world's most eyestrainish Carrd or Rentry. I don't care if your friend who took one high school psychology class said that coping through dark fiction isn't healthy. Still not one of the many licensed therapists who say that it is.
DO NOT REBLOG MY POSTS IF YOU DO NOT HAVE AI SCRAPING DISABLED ON YOUR BLOG.

Tw for vague csa/abuse mention
Sometimes, yeah, I "get off to" the fics I write. And I definately like hearing that other people enjoy them, because I think everyone deserves things they enjoy and it truly makes me happy to provide a little of that for others.
But the reason I write what I write is so my brain has a place to spin out scenarios to try to make it okay. And by that I don't mean the things that happened to me. By that I mean the fact that I exist as someone who those things happened to. The fact that I live every day with the rammifications of one man's evil decision, wrapping themselves up and weaving themselves into every aspect of my life. And when I write I come at it from all angles- including sexual because I was a prematurely-sexually-awakened kid and that can make a person's relationship with sex a little confusing to say the least- to try to figure out how to live with it.
Fic writers don't write to normalize abuse. We write to normalize suvival. And survival isn't always pure and pretty and fluffy. I was not healed by a wholesome loving relationship, I was not healed by friendship or forgiveness or by trying to banish all darkness from my life and mind. I am healing myself by looking it in the eye. By getting elbows-deep in the darkness, letting it coat my skin again now that I am grown and safe. By forgiving myself for the tracks it left in my mind and body, accepting that it is part of my story and trusting myself to keep me safe.
That's what I'm trying to normalize. That it's good you survived, and it's okay to be "messed up by it". You are normal, and your existence isn't bad or tainted or dirty or wrong. You are good and innocent. You deserve to be here and you deserve a full, satisfying life with all the things you enjoy in it.

I'm here cause, tbh I've seen SO many necros and similar paras that yknow what. I wanna come into the out now.
Anyways, I'm a kitsune. Don't refer to me as human, I will not respond. Dating a zombie, a concubus, and an enstars introject. Yes, I'm poly as well, I'm silly.
I'm an autozoo, and before you all get your pitchforks, do some research! Promise that it'll do you some good 🫶 cardiophilia is another one I'll probably be into a lot here.
In reality, though, there's a lot more paras, but this is for my "unnerving" ones because I really just kinda said to my zomboy "I bet tumblr would be the one site nobody would give a fuck what I posted on it" so I made this account
Pro dark fiction as well, obviously. Block don't report, if you do send hate, know that I'll love you forever because it gives me entertainment.
Obviously don't fucking interact if you're a minor. You're disgusting. Stop forcing yourselves into adult spaces
Anyways, usual yada yada, this is all fantasy, don't enact anything stated on this blog, etc etc

I want to put my two cents into the whole “ant-dark fiction” debate because I think it ultimately boils down to people not being able to understand viewpoints outside their own, ON BOTH SIDES.
Resently I saw a post of someone saying something along the lines of “please stop writing fanfics of woman being r*ped” and I saw a bunch of people in the comments and reblog a essentially saying “welp, guess tumblr isn’t for you” and I think that’s just in bad faith.
People are allows to not like fanfic the glamorizes SA, HOWEVER, on the other side, people are allowed use fanfic as a coping mechanism or a safe way to explore fantasies. I personally think that because Tumblr isnt an app like TikTok with an algorithm, meaning in order to consume content you have to search it out, I think it’s ultimately your responsibility to read tags and make sure you’re safe. You can’t police everyone because it makes you uncomfortable. On that same note, if you write dark fiction you need to recognize how putting your kinks/ fantasies out their can effect people, because contrary to popular belief, it does effect people.
I hate how Proship/ Antiship discourse has runined fandom spaces. I hate how people see the discourse as black and white, it you support this one thing you’re a terrible person, if you don’t support this one thing you’re great. I hate how the discourse has ruined fanfic as an art form and has discouraged people from using fanfic as a way of dealing with their trauma, AND I also hate how people are unwilling to recognize that the things they put onto the internet is going to effect people. Controversial take, but fiction does effect reality.
It effects reality when you put posters of your favorite character on your wall. It effects reality when you cry because your favorite character died. It effects reality when your reading fanfic or drawing fanart of your favorite character. It effects reality when you sit here on your bed writing all this shit for most people not to care. If fiction didn’t effect reality then most fiction wouldn’t be loved today. Fiction effecting reality isn’t always a bad thing, people just like to paint it that way. But it can also really harm people who might not be in good mental shape. I KNOW that yandere behaviors are bad in real life, that’s why I can read Yandere fanfiction and be perfectly fine. But there are actual people on this app acting like Yanderes, talking about how they want to hurt themselves or other people for their “love.” That is fiction effecting reality in a negative way.
Either way, I think we need to start understanding and acknowledging viewpoints outside our own. Instead of rushing to say “we’ll actually I use non-con fanfic to cope from my on SA” any time a person slightly critiques dark fiction, actually take the five seconds to understand their viewpoint and why they might be upset/ uncomfortable when you post about how badly you want to be non-coned by some hot anime boy. It’s weird, especially if you’ve gone through that first hand. It isn’t glamorous or sexy, it’s traumatizing and people are allowed to fee that way. People are also allowed to use their blog to explore dark tropes in a safe way with people that also want to explore those tropes, and commenting on a post that clearly says DEAD DOVE DO NOT EAT with “how dare you write fanfic about SA, you’re a terrible person!!!!” Is also not helpful in any way.
Tdlr: other people exist that aren’t you. They experience and deal with trauma in different ways and no one should be shamed for that. Pro/Anti-ship discourse has ruined fandom spaces forever, and fiction does effect reality and that’s not a bad thing.

“Those fictional ships romanticise and normalise awful things and make it for people who have trauma with those things to accept or talk about them in fear that either they’re in the wrong or that they’ll get romanticised for their trauma, promoting those narratives is harmful to people and will put bad things in a good light which they should never be in.”
Thoughts?
Fictional ships and fictional content in general are not going to normalize anything because 99.9% of people know how to separate fiction from reality. We can romanticize whatever we want in fiction and portray whatever bad thing we want in a good light. If people with traumas don't like that then maybe they should stop looking and quit expecting us to cater to their every need like we're their parents or something.

Okay, y'all. Let's talk about shipping, and I'll even expose myself, fuck it, let's go:
I don't ship or like Reylo or Dramione, and yet I am a slut for Anidala and Buffy/Angel, who are easily just as Problematique when you unpack all of canon
I don't ship or like SessRin, and yet one of my favorite "love stories" of all time is low-key the most Grooming one of all: The Phantom of the Opera
I don't ship or like InuCest, Kaname/Yuki, Elsanna, let alone incest pairings as a whole, and yet one of my favorite manga of all time is Angel Sanctuary. AND I also ship Cesare/Lucrezia!! (both in the TV show The Borgias, and the manga, Cantarella)
I generally don't do cross-species/monsterfucking ships, and yet. Ancient Magus Bride exists. Beauty and the Beast exists. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I generally dislike Adult x Minor pairings, and yet CLAMP's Chobits has one of the cutest side pairings that is incredibly fucked up in the real-world setting (Ueda x Yumi; ikyk). But then again, CLAMP created another Large-Age-Gap pairing in Cardcaptor Sakura that I absolutely DESPISE (Rika x Terada ugh), and yet, in the SAME SERIES ALSO wrote one of the most Wholesome Ships Imaginable (Sakura x Syaoran) AND one of the earliest examples of an Iconic Gay Pairing (Touya x Yukito)
Hell, despite my issues with Large-Age-Gaps, I have a soft spot for Amu/Ikuto from Shugo Chara!, and Nephrite/Naru from Sailor Moon. And yet, I'm squicked the FUCK out of Snape/Harry, Snape/Hermione, etc. Nope. Not my thing
I'm also generally not a fan of the "Male Love Interest consciously/openly threatening to harm/kidnap/assault Female MC" trope and yet!! My biggest guilty pleasure is Alice in the Country of Hearts!! Not to mention several other manga/anime titles I could name!! It's a common trope that I like in some stories, and hate in others!!!!!! Shocking!!!
My point is, you can dislike certain "problematic" ships/media all you like, but don't cast stones in glass houses. We all have our Problematic Faves, peeps, whether you want to admit it or not. Just because You Like It doesn't make it morally exempt from the ones You Don't Like. Ship and let ship, don't like don't read, learn to curate your fandom experience.
And honestly? As a former Puritanical Anti, embracing my trash without needing to justify it (however tame it is by comparison to some, or weird it is to others) has been the most liberating thing in my fandom experience. Give it a try; I highly recommend.
