Okay I know pride is over but I really wanna talk about the importance of the Heartstopper cast at pride.
In that video that’s going everywhere right now, those bigots are screaming at them, telling them their sinners.
But Bash, Joe, Kit, Corrina, Tobie, Kizzy, and Jenny. They’re singing. Dancing. Giving them the bird. And not just them, but everyone there. They’re happy, celebrating why they’re all there. Just like the original pride 53 years ago, when those police officers tried to hurt our queer elders, but they formed kick lines and sang their hearts out. Fifty-fucking-three years ago, queer folks stared death in the eye and laughed. And we’re still doing that.
I know there’s been a lot of discourse surrounding pride lately and what should and shouldn’t be acceptable. But this. This is what pride should be. A celebration. A defiance. Fighting hate with love. And now more than ever, one of the best ways to fight hate is by loving as much as you possibly can.
The fact that it's Joe Locke who gives the middle fingers to anti-light activists sends a message (as my opinion but read the next paragraph). The character he plays, and maybe him idk, have received homophobia comments or bullying regarding their sexuality. For me, it's like a revenge from Joe Locke (maybe) but also from Charlie Spring about the bullying he has suffered in the past.
As it's probably not done on purpose, I find it funny or sarcastic compared to heartstopper...
Wow! That was fun! London pride was absolutely amazing. There were so many people. I think I have never seen so many LGBTQ+ people at the same time. I guess, for once it felt like we were the majority. And it was beautiful! There were quite a few moments today that made me tear up. I saw a mother and father supporting their son, a teenager with pride flags painted on his cheeks. The wonderful Dykes on Bikes who let their engines roar in front of a homophobe (the same one the Heartstopper cast was trolling a bit later, I was literally 100 metres up the parade route). And of course there were Joe, Bash (who I already saw in Soho yesterday), Kit, Tobie, Jenny, Corrina and Kizzy. Kit had his arm around Joe and they all seemed to have a blast.
Crown Haakon of Norway, Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway and Prince Sverre Magnus of Norway pay their respects at a makeshift memorial by the restaurant where two people were killed and at least 10 were injured when a man opened fire early Saturday morning near a popular gay club in the city's downtown, hours before the annual Oslo gay pride parade in Oslo, Norway -June 25th 2022.
