non-zero amount of swans and a non-zero amount of lakes.

#pretty pretty day #red leaves turning yellow the sun is so bright the breeze isnt too cold #i get to walk past all my friends houses on my way to a really cute study cafe . walk past a bubble tea place walk through tree lined #streets . sun against my friends window so i cant see if she could see me. today there was a double rainbow #in the sky from misty rain. so many squirrels and birds and rabbits and deer #i have a deadline soon and im massively behind bc im lucky enough to be able to do too much. need to #write an essay and do maths problem sets. smile + wave at ppl you know. last night i met a rly cute girl #and i dont think its gonna go anywhere but ill think abt her from time to time from now on #there is someone in front of me with bright blue hair. someone with their knuckles wrapped in bandages. two boys holding hands.#today people are dying but it is the 40th day of her death which means it is the 40th day of the revolution which is the 40th day of #not giving up. meanwhile the sun casts halos on a the wings of a magpie + a fresh pomegrante waits in the kitchen.#i have freshly cut watermelons in my fridge. there are so many flowers here. there are swans in the lakes.#my hair is a mess in the wind and forgetting a lot of things. my vision is declining and so i must remember the definition of leaves #before it's too late. one thing determinate from the other.#water reflects red. there are two girls feeding the birds. so many pretty people running into the same building.#youre cut from a different cloth. you especially are cut from silk.#you hate philosophy for its messy discourse and love maths for the clear consesus it produces. i only feel a little guilty #for laughing at that. last year two professors in functional analysis fought on blackboards until it became a team sport. a paper agains #a paper against. a paper against the paper for the against. on the walls for st joseph of cupertino we both pray for some mercy. offer up #some beautiful quantifier and i will drown inside it. break fresh chalk just for you.

sans undertale would not make i fucked your wife jokes. people want to make jokes about sans fucking asgore's wife but sans the character would NOT do that r you kidding me. you can cut the secondhand embarrassment with a knife every time they're in the same room together, sans likes the guy, i bet he feels genuinely kinda bad for asgore. he'd be like sorry about the dating your ex wife thing. to be fair she's a really cool ex wife. and asgore would be like (rescue shelter dog sigh) She is.

#i do think he would keep things polite but distant in the early days post pacifist because tori doesn't want anything to do with him #but after some time passes and they became tentative friends he probably like. asks him to manage the grill at the cookout together #gifts him a HUGE sized pair of socks right back for that other time #cracks some jokes. like they seemed to be on pretty good terms in the game #undertale #sans #asgore #soriel

just remembered a fic on AO3 (or more likely LJ because it had that distinct late 00's experimental vibe) that appeared double-spaced oddly, in that some paragraphs would be spaced normally and others would have double or even triple spaces in between. it was about one half of the otp getting over the other's death (or coma, can't remember which), so all the comments were about how poignant the use of visual spacing was as a means to convey all the emotional holes in the character's life.

and then the author replied like... *giggle* guys it's NOT double spaced. try selecting the whole text

and we were all like "no WAY"

but we selected the text, and yes!!!

the "holes" in the story? they were actually lines and actions from the dead/coma character's ghost, rendered invisible to the eye by the simple trick of coloring the text the exact same as the background, revealed by nothing more than a click and a drag of the mouse

a story about the profound loneliness of losing your the partner of your life and having to make do without them, without anything to fill the holes they'd left behind, suddenly became a story about the profound helplessness of seeing someone you love suffer from your absence while you are right there, unable to do anything about it, unable to communicate that you love them enough to suffer unseen and unheard with them, just to keep them company they'll never know about

it was then that I truly realized how *superior* the digital medium is to plain printed paper, how the medium and the format can add to a story.

I think about that fic about once a year. I wish I could find it again

#probable fandoms for it (that I was in at that time): naruto Hikaru no go deathnote maybe?#definitely not Harry Potter or BBC merlin. I can't recall what else I was into back in 2008-2009 #God I miss those Fandom days. everyone was doing such NEAT things both coding and writing wise #fanfic #pretty sure it was LJ #UPDATE: IT WAS LJ AND THE FIC IS BBC SHERLOCK 🤮#but still worth reading
