Shuri was gonna [redacted] herself in the riverbank. The water. Where her mother said to sit and heal. Where Namor was.
And for her... the place where peace could find her [redacted].
Tumblr media
Got emboldened to post this snippet:
Shuri, in a large bathtub filled to the brim with water,
contemplating, and then immersing her whole body
and she doesn't come up for air
for so long that Griot has sent alerts to General Ayo and the nearest Dora.
She has succumbed to a death sleep.
-
Princess Shuri has been trying to [redacted] herself for some time now.
The last member of the Golden Tribe. The Black Panther.
She was the queen who abdicated, the daughter who was now orphaned.
She just wanted to see it for herself. Her family... on the other side.
It was either the ancestral plane or the end of this grief.
She thought of only those two choices. There is no losing.
-
Nakia arrives. A boy with her.
Shuri never permitted to be awoken.
So she doesn't see.
-
Namor arrives. An army with him.
She was just stuck in an empty, black plane. It was infinity.
She doesn't see.
-
Then she returns.
She's awake when the terror of nightmares comes to her.
Namor sits on the throne and he is not alone.
Now she sees, the boy standing tall... Finally.
-
Shuri doesn't know how long yet, but it already felt to her like forever.
She had morphed into someone physically weak. Limp limbs, taut and swollen skin.
Her hair had grown past her shoulders, because she had slept too long.
While Prince T'Challa, son of King T'Challa, turned ten.

An Overwhelming Hunger
“You’ve had a stressful day, my love. What can I do for you?”
“I am hungry,” Namor replied, staring at you through his brow. “But not for food.”
—————————
Pairing: Reader x Namor
Summary: BP:WF complete AU (T’Challa isn’t dead and Namor didn’t kill the Queen) Namor has decided to attend peace talks with Wakanda to avoid war with the powerful nation. However, when frustrations towards his diplomatic mission grow, you decide to help him destress in the best way you know how. Namor, however, has other plans.
Warnings, content: fluff, smut, bondage, overstim, committed relationship, unedited
AN: Hey y’all! Just trying to get into the flow of things and see what works and what doesn’t. I hope y’all like it.
————————————————————————-
You had been here for hours. A pillow tucked underneath the small of your back, your hands tied to one of the posts on your headboard, and your panties stuffed in your mouth. The sheets underneath you were warm to the touch and soaked with your sweat. Your hair tussled from writhing against the sheets and makeup smudged from the tears streaming down your face, and you were sure you looked a mess. But you knew Namor only the saw your state of undress as the result of his handiwork.
You knew this because he had told you as much when you expressed discontent at how ridiculous you must’ve looked earlier. He reassured you that you were the most lovely woman in his Kingdom and any other. He made it clear that he wouldn’t stand to be challenged on his opinion by anyone, including you. Then he shoved your panties in your mouth and went back to working on your third orgasm on the night. That was two orgasms ago. You struggled to remember how you ended up in this predicament in the first place.
Four hours ago
It all started because of politics. The root of all evil, in your opinion. Namor, in an effort to sustain peace and maintain security for his people, decided to meet with the royals of Wakanda to work on an alliance while you stayed home to guide and protect the Talokans in his stead. He did not expect that building an alliance would keep him away from you for days at a time. The Wakandan elders had been particularly headstrong and full of opinions, which slowed progress from time to time.
Namor, communicating through the advanced technology Shuri lent him that allowed him to video call you even miles under the sea, lamented at just how slow the progress was. He simply wasn’t used to being so far away from his people, from you. Not for so long. Unaccustomed to seeing your husband so stressed, you decided to spoil him when he returned. After all, the distance between you hadn’t only been hard on him. You missed your husband, in more ways than one.
You didn’t have to wait long to set your plan into action. Namor had sent word that there would be a seven day recess, so he’d be home by evening. You took the time to doll yourself up and wear the night gown he likes the most. It’s blue and adorned with Jade, a testament to how he loves to spoil you. You cover yourself with a long, flowy robe, the same blue color as your night gown, and tie the robe together with the matching belt with a neat little bow. Like a present to unwrap on Christmas morning.
While you wait for your lover to return home, you also prepare one of Namor’s favorite dishes to eat. It’s a simple dish — fish and rice, but you prepare it in the way his mother did and it reminds him of her. Namor strolls into the room, shoulders tense and his eyes tinged with annoyance. His eyes light up into appreciation at the sight of you.
He trails his eyes down your body, coming back up to stop at the necklace that rests just in between your breasts. It’s a small intricate gold and silver necklace that ties into a knot where the two metals meet. He gifted that necklace to you when you got engaged. For many, it’s a symbol of your union. For the two of you, it symbolizes his deep need to possess even the smallest part of you and to have others acknowledge that you belong to him. That your fate is tied to his for as long as you both live. You shudder at his lingering gaze and try to ignore the tingle that spreads from your core.
Today is not about you, you scold yourself. You should at least feed the man before you jump his bones. You were so busy chastising yourself that you missed the way his gaze darkened, his eyes full of desire and want. You did however notice the tenseness in his shoulders, and the way his mouth was set into a thin straight line.
“You’ve had a stressful day, my love. What can I do for you? I made your favorite in case you’d like to eat.”
“I am hungry,” Namor replied, staring at you through his brow. “But not for food.”
In a flash, he covered the distance between the both of you and covered his mouth with yours. He was an all-consuming force, like a whirpool, and you were a tiny sailboat adrift at sea. You had no way of overpowering him, but you didn’t want to. He picked you up and threw you on the bed. He took the soft satin belt from your robe and tied your hands to the one of the wooden posts of the headboard.
“The only thing I want is for my sweet, pretty wife to come from my tongue as many times as she can stand it. Do you think you can do that?”
Present
Namor moaned into your pussy, only taking a moment to lick up the remnants of the last orgasm you had that had dripped down your thighs. He sat up for a moment and massaged your thighs. You felt delirious.
“You’ve been so good for me, my Queen. Taking each and every thing I’ve offered,” he said. He rubbed his clothed dick all over your slick pussy.
“I bet you could take one more.”

Written for the @sambuckylibrary summer bingo prompt: Beach Day! Had to get one more in under the deadline.
Rated T, gets a little suggestive at the end
Okay so ages ago @katatonicimpression posted about Sam getting a Captain America 'suit' from Namor that was actually a speedo and well... (Funnily enough, I had not seen the original tags on the post until I was done with this story. I agree: Bucky would be fuming)
Namor's characterization in this kind of melds the MCU with the comics, since we didn't really get to see a lighter side of him in BP:WF. ("Or you could just wear a suit" joke line, my beloved)
(Sea) Star Spangled
Bucky had brought this upon himself.
He didn't usually like to take responsibility for things that had even a slightly contested origin. He thought he'd had plenty of shit laid at this feet egregiously, so, no Sam, it was not his fault there was only a swallow of milk left in the jug in the fridge.
But this one... This was his fault.
("You're welcome, self," he also thought.)
Here's the thing. He knew Shuri had told him about another actor, another nation, another hero who dealt with Vibranium. But, to be fair to himself, things had been pretty hectic for the both of them at the time and she'd said this guy lived under the ocean, so he really wasn't Bucky's priority. And, in this brave new world of "supervillain" teammups and consequent subterfuge, Bucky hadn't thought about the fish guy, merman, aquaman person since that brief mention.
By the time mermaid Barbie did catch up to him, Bucky had been at this game long enough to be practically working for Shuri instead of de Fontaine. She and he had worked out a nearly flawless repertoire of information sharing without getting caught and Bucky was pretty sure his new bosses were none the wiser. It had been Shuri who'd told him about an odd deposit of vibranium in the shallows and sandbars of a remote beach island.
Bucky had been investigating that lead when he met the submariner for the first time.
So, hey, maybe he could actually blame this all on Shuri.
It had been harder to convince Namor that he was a friend, not a foe. The alliance between the Atlantean and Shuri was evidently not as steadfast as Shuri had led Bucky to believe those weeks ago. Namor was intense and smarter than most people Bucky had been dealing with recently. (Shuri obviously excluded) He nettled and prodded at Bucky and his story for hours. Sharks literally started to circle at one point and Bucky had to let the Atlantean know that his threat was received perfectly clearly.
When all was said and done, when Namor was reluctantly on board with the plan though not any happier about it, when Bucky's research vessel was so thoroughly destroyed he didn't even bother trying to fish pieces out of the water, Namor took him to shore and asked who should be contacted.
Bucky had said the first name that came to mind.
Hours later, when the sun had scorched Bucky's chest, shoulders, and face, Sam appeared on a boat. Because of course he knew how to drive a boat. Bucky knew that and yet his heart still tripped over itself in his chest to see him looking like some dashing privateer. A privateer in board shorts at any rate.
Sam read people better than Bucky did. Bucky was great at threat assessment, but that was usually as far as his skills went. (Barring his ability to get free sweet tea from his favorite waitress) Sam knew how to work any angle on any person. He knew to show up dressed down instead of in his full Cap gear. He knew to cut the engine well before the rudders could damage the shoreline kelp life. He knew to approach Bucky and Namor with a somber but not cowed cadence to his steps.
Steve told a story constantly about the first time Sam met T'Challa. About his nigh on irreverence and familiarity. Bucky could see him assessing now if that kind of banter would work. In the end, he went for the safer route, turning his attention to Bucky and narrowing his eyes. "What did you do?" he asked.
Bucky wouldn't say Sam and Namor got on easily. Namor was not as quickly swayed by Sam's pervasive charm and ready smile and moral dignity. But the half-snarl curl of his lip had disappeared and the tension in his shoulders ebbed the longer he and Sam talked. Sam was good at this, winning people over long enough to rectify a situation and get back out of it.
And he did get Bucky out of it. Bucky got an earful on the ride back to some place with a plane, but it was worth it once he got into the cabin and out of the sun.
The next time it happened, Sam showed up in his Captain America uniform, and Bucky felt vaguely betrayed that Sam had been doing real Captain America things without him. The conversation between Namor and Sam flowed more easily as Bucky's shoulders continued to sunburn.
The THIRD time was not Bucky's fault. In fact, Bucky found Sam and Namor already in the midst of a fight that they had started in the shallows off an uninhabited island. Surprisingly, Bucky's new bosses weren't involved, so Bucky had no idea what was going on, but people were throwing spears at Sam and that was unacceptable.
The fight didn't last much longer after Bucky joined. Sam and Namor had had it mostly under control before he showed up, so the extra brute force only helped. The combatants disappeared into the water exactly like the sea monsters of his childhood stories.
"What are you doing here?" Bucky asked Sam so he didn't have to think about what else lurked in the water. He did follow Sam out of the shallows quickly though.
"Your friend picked up your bad habits," Sam answered in a half-teasing, half-stressed kind of way. He wiped his face free of salt water.
Namor scowled at him. Bucky wondered if his own scowls were that unconvincing. It was kind of impossible to actually get angry at Sam. "He is not my friend and I did not call you for help. You stopped yourself."
Sam shrugged. "You looked like you were losing."
"I do not lose!" Namor insisted again.
"Well, hey, next time you aren't losing and don't need help, you know how to reach me," Sam said with a grin. And then, to Bucky, he added, "We share seagulls!" A phrase Bucky completely did not understand.
The next time Namor showed up, Bucky hadn't even bothered him. He and Sam had detoured away from their return home from a mission because they were flying over Nassau and neither of them were passing up the opportunity for a beach vacation. The first two days had been flawless. But that night, tangled together on a high sandbar during low tide, a sudden wave, tall enough and dense enough to blot out the moonlight, crashed over them and left fish and kelp and so much salt water in its wake. It practically flooded the sandbar out and left bits and pieces of their uniforms floating in the water.
"I can see you!" Namor called from somewhere far away, or maybe right under the water. Bucky could never tell. "Go elsewhere!"
And yet. AND YET. They were here now.
Maybe he could actually blame Namor. Thinking about it again, he could definitely blame Namor. Bucky had only accidentally introduced him and Sam. Namor had done this.
"It looks pretty good right?" Sam laughed, smoothing a hand down his perfect body that Bucky should really be napping against right now instead of suffering in the middle of the ocean. How was he actually glistening? He wasn't even wet. What was this golden glow? There was cloud coverage.
It was about the only coverage on this boat.
For an ocean where a battle had just raged with too many combatants and interests at play for Bucky to keep straight, the sea was calm, the sun warm, the bird call familiar. It could almost be any other day on the boat. Except for the blood growing tacky in Bucky's hair and the bruise sprawling down Sam's shoulder and back. He needed to get an ice pack on it.
Actually, he needed to put a shirt over it.
"It is made of the same fibers as all of our warriors' clothing," Namor explained about the "outfit" Sam had quickly changed into. "Yours and mine are the same." And he looked entirely too smug as his gaze flicked to Bucky momentarily.
Despite joking about it, Bucky knew Namor didn't actually wear a speedo. It was shorts and he had fantastic thighs that would make any clothing look smaller. Those shorts--battle garments, his ass--were even smaller on Sam. They were practically molded to his ass. There was almost nothing down the back of his thighs. They were fighting for their life to cover his ass and stay around his hips at the same time. They were a dark navy with subtle, darker striping around one leg, not that anyone could tell because they were so damn short.
"If you're going to spend so much time on the water, you should be equipped to do so. No, Barnes?" Namor looked at him again and was definitely smirking. Suddenly Bucky preferred the scowl.
"Sam flies," he ground out.
"Yes. He's very impressive," Namor agreed. "And then he rescues you from the water all of the time."
Bucky ground his teeth together even harder.
"I know you have many suits for many different reasons. I just wanted to offer a gift of my own," Namor continued. "Talokan is grateful for your help and friendship." He reached out and clasped their forearms together.
Bucky seethed.
This was not a suit. This was obscene. There was a star right over the crotch, for God's sake. (Okay, slightly left of the crotch, whatever) Namor didn't even buy into nationalism. He hated it. It had been a huge point of contention until Sam had explained to him his own struggles with representing a country or ideal that outright rejected him over and over. If anything, this should just be navy. Plain. And longer, dammit. Bucky's brain was going to overheat. He needed to look away from that damn star.
"I appreciate it, K'uk'ulan," Sam said earnestly, like he wasn't standing around looking like a soft core poster. He bowed his head a little and held a hand over his heart. God, Bucky wanted to eat him.
Then Sam kicked his ankle and Bucky turned his irritation towards him. It wasn't enough to make him want to eat Sam any less, but it eased some of the burning need in his chest. Sam subtly tried to nod towards Namor, eyes wide and imploring.
With a sigh that gathered up all of Bucky's willpower, he turned to Namor and tried to ease the scowl on his face. "We will always help Talokan and the Talokanil," he said, and surprised himself with the honesty in his voice. He did really like Namor's home and his people. What of it he had come to see and understand. "I would rather help them than whichever evil bastards are trying to pull the reins up here."
The flash of gratitude over Namor's face was only that--a flash, but Bucky saw it and he tucked that information away. But it was too quickly replaced by a grin. "Then you agree. It is good that the captain now has appropriate dress."
The scowl got deeper by three fold and Namor's grin only turned more gleeful. And, oh. Namor hadn't put Sam in a speedo to leer at him himself. He'd done it to tease Bucky. The asshole.
"We should get Bucky one," Sam joked.
Bucky and Namor pulled twin grimaces, which made, Sam laugh and laugh.
"We need to head out," Bucky said to Sam. "We'll have a better chance of holding off alphabet agencies and suits if we're not right on top of the fight.
Sam frowned, tipped his face up to the sunlight because he was genuinely some kind of sun god and needed the replenishment as far as Bucky was concerned, and then sighed. "You're right," he agreed. "One day, we'll have to meet under better circumstances," he said to Namor. He offered his hand out to the not-merman and they did that gladiator hold thing again. Namor clapped a hand on Sam's uninjured shoulder.
"Yes, I agree. Alas, we both have people to protect and our enemies are becoming bolder. It doesn't leave much time for socializing."
Sam nodded his understanding and then hoisted his wing pack onto his back. He should really put on a shirt before using it, Bucky thought. And pants. "Come on, grumpycakes," he said to Bucky and offered out the harness they had developed together for exactly these kind of low stakes, short hops.
Sam gave Namor a lazy kind of salute and Bucky managed a cordial nod. Namor only offered another smirk and even a thumbs up. He was truly nothing like Bucky had anticipated.
Sam dropped them on the far side of the nearest island. They would have to await extraction--maybe island hop a few more miles away--but there was no rush. They hadn't called for help yet.
Bucky considered the fine white sand of the beach. It was soft and warm, verging on hot. He could lay Sam out right here and get those shorts off. But he remembered trying to untangle kelp from his hair, and discarded the thought. Instead, he walked Sam back into the tropical foliage several meters away and then sank to his knees without a word.
Sam's fingers fell to his hair, head dropping back to the tree behind him. Which was a shame because Bucky liked Sam's eyes on him. Liked to be able to look up and catch his gaze, see exactly what Bucky was doing to him based on the sparkle in his eye.
"Yeah," Sam agreed to their silent understanding in a breathy sigh. "We definitely have to get you some of these shorts too."

ok so I’m gonna overexplain my thoughts on the goncharov meme now @moonlitlex  I’m sorry for not replying on the original post but this is gonna get long. here’s the original post you replied on
https://www.tumblr.com/fandomshatepeopleofcolor/719488461894221824/honestly-im-glad-people-are-finally-shutting-up?source=share
I’m gonna try to keep this neat and tidy but this might take me a while I’m largely including lots of links because I don’t have the spoons to transcribe this sorry followers.
ok so lets begin with the crux of my complaint, that being Goncharov over took black panther: wf in popularity on tumblr for White reasons. I say this for 2 reasons.
1)  goncharov existed as a meme since 2020 but didn’t overtake tumblr until November 2022.
proof:
Tumblr media
so you may notice from the wiki article that Goncharov is attributed to Scorsese
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Goncharov_(meme)
why  does Scorsese mean anything? and what does that have to do with black panther 2?  well back in 2019 scorsese said that “marvel movies are not cinema“  source: https://www.theguardian.com/film/2019/oct/04/martin-scorsese-says-marvel-movies-are-not-cinema
what was going on in 2019 for the mcu?  avengers 3 and 4 had just come out and it was the biggest thing that had ever happened in the movies. also... black panther the first movie had made history in being the first mcu movie to be nominated in a category other than technical at the oscars and other award shows https://envelope.latimes.com/awards/titles/black-panther/  too.
so martin scorsese isn’t just against some of the mcu or superhero movies in general (you will remember that heath ledger won the oscar for the dark knight). no he’s against Marvel specifically. and just at the moment that Marvel films were becoming more diverse than ever before. ok I’m not gonna keep harping on how groundbreaking that black panther which features an afrofuturist country in the biggest franchise in the world with a nearly all black cast won so much acclaim.
this brings to the second issue I have with goncharov
2) goncharov was largely billed as having great slash ships (homoeroticism if you will). but like the rest of Scorsese’s actual works the cast was all white.  there was no interracial ships to be fawned over there was indeed no poc actors cast in this fake film.  but see this is the key thing in november 2022, in the 3 years that had passed between scorsese first comments on the lack of artistry in marvel films several things had happened to the mcu
which brings me to point number 3: the diversity of mcu films had basically expanded on every single phase 4 film.  the whitest film of the phase 4 was black widow but that was directed by a white woman and featured a cast filled with white women. the next whitest movie was spiderman no way home and that still had a diverse supporting cast in ned and MJ.  the third whitest film was doctor strange 2 which was still directed by a Jewish man Sam Raimi. the next whitest film was thor 4 with a Jewish/Maori man Taika directing it and Tessa as King of Asgard, Valkyrie
Tumblr media
that leaves Shang-Chi, Eternals, Black panther 2.
All films that centered people of color all films directed by people of color and at least eternals and bp2 both had queer rep. thor 4 had canon trans rep.
like this era of marvel were referred to as “the flop era“ or “the MSheU“ precisely because it was so different from the original 2 phases.  there was intense hate for the diversity and scope of the mcu phase 4 that couldnt be explained by any other fact than the diversity inherent in mcu phase 4.
anyways bp:wf had at its center Black Women, and brown indigenous man as the villain.  but you couldn’t load tumblr without running into like 2 goncharov posts within the first page of your dash. nothing about the artistry of bp:wf tho.
anyways I’m tired and more than a little cranky.

rewatched the amazing spider-man 2 yesterday and, aside from being devastated (again!!) by gwen's death, i had the bad idea of imagining the break up scene but shuriri version. Like [stay with me], imagine a post bp:wf, shuri takes riri's offer to go to that game and things take off from that, riri goes on to build another armor and becomes ironheart etc etc, shuri visits when she can (riri kinda likewise but less cause mit and whatnot), there's love and affection but also lots of fear about becoming heroes and what it means for them, shuri is there for riri's graduation (say that riri has recently fought someone and it was not all easy peasy) and that's when things get heated - shuri is supposed to join riri and her fam for dinner, they talk/argue about the risks in their lives and that shuri almost shouts that she can't lose riri too, riri tells her that it's their choice to make and that not being together won't mean that no threat will come to them. And now I'm trying to get it off my mind and I CAN'T cause my hands itch to write it all down

Okay, so I’ve done something. Gotta say, I’m proud of it, since colouring is not really my style. I could work on shading stuff. Also I’m scared that I’m doing injustice while drawing fanart of people because of my artstyle... Enough about art! I’m mentally preparing myself for the BP:WF movie, cuz I have gone a little of the rails... I send about 10-15 new things (photos, posts, videos and etc.) about Namor and Talokan to my family group chat, I swear they’re gonna mute me some day... On another note, besides the bad things like racisim and body shaming (y’all know what people I’m talking about), this fandom is really lovely. I’m happy that I joined it.

(Warning: Lots of Black Panther:Wakanda Forever Spoilers!!)
Another post about Ayo because I absolutely love her character lmao. Well, this post is more about her relationship with Aneka. As most of us know, Aneka is Ayo's gf in the movie as well as in the comics. Honestly wished BP:WF could have explored their relationship more, but I'm glad that it was acknowledged at all. So like the hopeless sapphic that I am, I tried to find all the Ayo and Aneka moments I could find and share with you all here. (Not in order in how it happens in the movie)
1. Of course, the Wakandan Outreach Centre Attack clip. Honestly the fact that Ayo had to shake her head disapprovingly to convince Aneka to stop bringing up the daggers to Okoye is so funny. Also loved that Ayo went to stand beside Aneka before doing the salute to Okoye even though she could have just done it where she was standing. Also when Ayo said "I told you not to bring them" to Aneka with that look that just shows like that exasperation and also fondness and Aneka looks at her like "You know I'd bring it anyway" is just gold lmao.
2. The part when they fought back to back on the Sea Leopard (Or whatever the ship's name is, forgot the name) is just amazing. There's nothing better than seeing two warrior gfs fighting side by side (and maybe they patch each other up after a battle as well? 🤩)
3. One of my favourite parts of the movie is when M'Baku says "May the ancestors save us!" when they were cornered by the Talokans and Ayo replies "We may be going to join them!" Then Aneka replies to her saying "It's alright, we'll just take as many of them with us as we can!" IDK Aneka, not really the best thing to say to reassure your gf right? 🤭
4. Obviously, the head kiss. Loved how soft that scene was. Aneka coming into frame, putting her hand at the back of Ayo's head and another on Ayo's shoulder, pulling Ayo closer to kiss the top of her head and giving her a smile before leaving. Ayo closing her eyes and smiling when Aneka kissed her head, saying "thank you my love" and looking at Aneka walking away with such love and affection for a few seconds before turning back to whoever she was talking to. Man I can't get enough of this scene. Also love that the people around them turn to look them like "Did that just happen?" lmao
5. This isn't that much of an Ayo and Aneka scene but more of me speculating this scene to have a connection to their relationship. In this scene Okoye says and asks Aneka(roughly cause I don't remember the actual line lmao): "You have such a rebellious spirit. Tell me, why did you join the Dora?" Aneka immediately gets defensive and asks(roughly) "Why do you care?" Idk, maybe the reason she joined the Dora has something to do with Ayo? Probably not, her actual reason might be revealed in a later BP movie or show and I could probably just be reaching but, a sapphic can dream right? Though, wonder why she got so defensive 🤨
This is the only moments I could find of them sadly. Hopefully we get to see more scenes of them in the future, though for now we have to stick to these little crumbs of moments, the comics and yes fanfiction. But I'm glad that we actually got this relationship in the MCU, maybe in the future we can learn more about their relationship 🤩

Marvel has announced an episode of "Assembled" will premiere December 28, which is weird since Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was the last release and it's not up on Disney+ yet. (Some are saying it is BP:WF and some are saying it's the GotG Holiday Special.)
I don't think the Wakanda Forever BTS will be up until the film is. I think this might be a Phase 4 retrospective, if I were to make my own guess.
Not sure what this post is for, just don't get your hopes too high if you see people saying it's definitely Wakanda Forever because we don't know for sure.

Just some general random thoughts/review about BP:WF since the last time I saw an MCU film opening weekend was Thor: Ragnarok in 2017. And this is without consuming most of the prerelease material
Spoilers under the cut I suppose...
Cons:
Movie was ridiculously long. I’m not a fan of anything that almost taps out at 3 hours, and it only ever happens with action flicks. If you need 3 hours to tell a story, most of the time you’re doing too much
Shuri being the next Black Panther was ridiculously drawn out. We knew it was going to happen but it wasn’t even acknowledged by the narrative until like 75% of the way in
Related to the pacing, the conclusion wrapped up far too quickly for a conflict that was drawn out for like 60% of the film. Personally thought it was great for Shuri to choose compassion over vengeance but my god this huge conflict with much bloodshed was suddenly over in like 10 seconds
Thought the plot with Riri/Ironheart was kind of awkward... Even as we’re going into the MCU’s 300th movie, I’m always bothered that these people who exist in this universe just get scooped up out of their lives and then they go back to living, and this is just a thing that happens with no protocol in place
Hated every time Laura Dreyfuss’s character was on screen, and thought Agent Ross was poorly used in the film. I don’t know how they could’ve integrated him better but every scene with the American portion of the film took me out of it
Did they ever explain the sonic siren attack or is that something the Talokanians can just do?
Pros:
A fantastic homage to the late and great Chadwick Boseman. Respectful and loving but not placing too much focus that detracted from the story or made the tone too sorrowful
Black Panther remains one of my favorite film series within MCU because of the wide array of strong female characters from leaders, warriors, and scientists to mothers and teachers
Shuri’s arc was fabulous. Her character is a tragic one, much like Thor, Wanda, and Peter before her and yet she still finds her own specific way to grieve. You can see her tackle each stage of grief but what makes it special is that she doesn’t even have time to finish mourning T’Challa before her mother is taken from her, and you can see her, still in the anger phase, multiply that rage exponentially
The city of Talokan was sooo beautiful, and I love that it and its citizens appeared to Shuri just as much as Wakanda did. I love that the narrative remembered that the Talokan were not just a warring army, there were thousands of citizens who lived happy and peaceful lives just as the Wakandans. Would’ve shortened that scene but it was skillfully used
Nakia/Lupita looked sooo beautiful every scene she was in, I could not look away
Love that Black Panther always knows the tone it’s setting. There are plenty of moments that had my theater roaring from laughter, Agent Ross, Okoye, and Riri especially. But the sorrowful moments of mourning Chadwick were respectful, and the serious moments focusing on colonization/war profiteering/racism/imperialism were always taken completely seriously. None of the jokes ever felt out of place, and I appreciate it for a film series tackling very serious subject matter
Neutral:
The post credits scene??? Ummmmm... T’Challa and Nakia had a whole ass child (looks to be like 4-6 years old so I’m wondering how that fits in the timeline) and they just kept it a secret??? And Ramonda knew but not Shuri
Idk why my girl Okoye has to go through some shit every film. She’s a complicated woman but I feel like the story likes to punish her very often when she is just sticking to her principles
Love that my man, Michael Bae Jordan/Killmonger, got to show up a little, was a pleasant and almost scary surprise. Did they explain why he showed up in the ancestral plane rather than Shuri? Is it because she didn’t believe and that’s why he was called to her?
Probably have more thoughts but this is all my 11pm brain can produce. Would love to hear anyone else’s thoughts on it! All in all, I loved the film and can’t wait for it to be released on D+ (just wish it was 30 min shorter for my ADHD brain)

In reference to my last post about having to scrap my Atlantis prequel series;
Expanding on the flashback to the 16th century (BP:WF) would make a great prequel series for the Talokanil; Fen's relationship with Namor's father and how he betrayed her; the arrival of the conquistadors and the small pox epidemic; the discovery of the blue plant and the migration of her people undersea. Lots of interesting stuff to tease out there, if you know enough about the history and the culture.
Then:
"Ch'ah Toh Almehen was born in 1571/1572 as the son of Fen and an Aztec Purépecha pochteca mercenary spy in the Yucatán. Prior to his birth, Fen, pregnant at the time, and her fellow tribesman of Mesoamericans became inflicted with smallpox brought by Spanish Conquistadores. To survive, the tribe consumed a blue plant found underwater in an attempt to alleviate their sickness. However, the plant was laced with traces of Vibranium, altering the tribe's anatomy and biology in the process.
The tribe became the first Talokanil, retreating to the ocean to start their new lives there, away from the threats of the surface world. Shortly afterward, Ch'ah Toh Almehen was born, with the effects of the plant Fen consumed causing him to undergo abnormal mutations such as winged feet, pointed ears and a human-like skin color.
He never knew his father.
Ch'ah Toh Almehen would be recognized as the firstborn son of Talokan, as well as a mutant, and worshipped as their feathered Serpent God, K'uk'ulkan. As Ch'ah Toh Almehen grew up, Fen told him stories about a place with clean air and water which was protected so that people would never have to leave.
She also told him the Aztec stories his father had once told her, including of the Aztec underworld paradise Tlālōcān, which inspired him in the naming of their underwater paradise, with the translation into their tongue of Yucatec Mayan, "Talokan"."
From the wiki:
Would be fascinating to see scenes of his childhood and the development of Talokan...

Hey, I saw your shuri and namor post and I just wanted to be that annoying person and point out that in universe Black Panther happened within in months of Infinity War. Since shuri was 16 in BP, let’s assume she was 17 in IF. She was blipped, and BP:WF in 6 years post blip, meaning she would be 18-19. If she wasn’t blipped she would have been 23-24. Either way she is an adult that can consent
Tbh I've seen some people say she was 18 in the first Black Panther but you're right, either way my girl is an adult who can get her some underwater D if she wants to

hi penta, i know you don't really post about marble movies anymore but since you saw black panther wakanda forever i wondered what your thoughts were? i haven't seen it but i'm curious what you think about the quality and what they did with the chadwick boseman situation
marble movies... dhjds maybe if the studio cancelled all upcoming mcu projects to create a live action adaptation of jelle's marble runs their tomatometer wouldn't be dropping
there's an inherent exploitative edge to releasing bp:wf so soon after chadwick boseman's passing and i was really worried they'd disrespect him and his legacy, seeing as disney thought it sensible to hijack his social media for a twitter plug, but allowing his character to die with him and weaving that grief into the narrative feels like the right choice imo. like obviously idk his wishes for it or how personal this was for ryan coogler but the movie had so much love for him and for t'challa, and the amount of care and heart that went into it clearly went way beyond the mcu standard, so i can't bring myself to view its existence as a negative.
i feel like this movie could have done with a few more edits bc it did have the standard marvel issues of done before plot beats, gratuitous obligatory franchise building, wannabe meme oneliners - but it had less of them than most mcu projects! and i have nothing but praise for the visuals, costumes, soundtrack, set design, palette, fight choreography, etc. they even finally got their vfx to look like it was made by a billion dollar company and not a teenage hobbyist in a garage, which i hope means the vfx artists actually got a fair wage this time.
idk to what extent we're looking to marvel movies for representation these days but i can appreciate the fact that wakanda forever is centered around the emotional arc of a black african woman, something that's rare for hollywood blockbusters. the movie is at its best when it focuses on the characters and that's interesting considering they're mostly former side characters and new arrivals, though the performances certainly help carry it there. i thought namor was well done for such an inherently silly character & the returning characters are still as fun here as they were in the first one (except martin freeman and his evil girlfriend they can choke)
umm i'd say it's good overall if you don't already hate the mcu too much to enjoy anything they put out. i went ooh and aah at the right moments and spent at least 10% of the runtime bawling my eyes out, so that's fun

Hello! This isn't an ask but a just a few rants (good ones I promise) I wanted to say to you. I'm a bit unfamiliar with how tf you post stuff on here but I think it should be ok.
I just wanted to say I love your writing for Tenoch Huerta and the characters he's played. Honestly your work is a breath of fresh air, I love the way you portray his characters and the little quirks/traits they have. You're very descriptive and attentive in your writing.
I watched BP:WF awhile back and my first impression of Namor was "Oh damn, he ain't playing!" He has such an intensity when he played the character he really would be a "I'll kill you before you kill me" type of guy but with sense of reason ofc (when Shuri rocked his shit). Since then I started reading up on his interviews, shoots and films he's been in - I've become Obfuckingssessed.
I literally obliterated your master list, did a dumpster dive of your account and read all your rants on #mary watches blue demon too. And other little posts you made- hope you are doing well and looking after yourself.
I love you and your writing, please continue to write when you are well and rested.
From a friendly fan x
Thank you so much for leaving these wonderful words and taking time out of your day! I truly appreciate it.
I am so happy to hear that my writing has been able to bring you such distinct characters despite them all being played by the same person. As much as they are all technically Tenoch, they also have their own worlds and backgrounds and I want to put that into my work.
Welcome to the Tenoch Whoreta Nation. We welcome all people tho we do encourage being 18 or older because we THIRST hard. We have a discord for the coven for anyone who would like to join.
LOL since you have read my masterlist I have a few questions. Which was your favorite? Which one do you want a follow up chapter to the most and why? Do you have a favorite line or passage that made you stop, good or bad?
Oh gosh you saw my rants and thoughts about Blue Demon. Well thank you for being so thorough lol Most of my Tenoch content is on @namorslutfanfiction and this is my main that has been with me since I was in highschool. Even my old fics are still up on this account. I dare not read them lol. Thankfully I have improved.
Thank you so so so much. I truly do appreciate everyone who reads my stuff. Especially those who take time to tell me how much they liked it all. I put a lot of work into all this and as much as it's an outlet for my love for this actor it's an escape for me.
You probably read my update but I am going to be busy but I will continue to post on tumblr and cross posting on AO3 under NamorSlutFanfiction77 if you'd prefer an easier navigation layout.
This warms my heart.

(Warning: Consists of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Spoilers)
A disturbing lack of Ayo and Aneka posts so I'll add more lmao. This post is not about new info I've found on them(sadly). This post is more on using the info I've learnt on them to form a bunch of speculations and headcanons. (Warning: Another essay incoming)
1. So I've mentioned before that Ayo has two 'confirmed' family members, Assata and Ala right? Not much is said about Ayo's grandmother, but we learn that Assata suffered a rare illness that leads to her having to use a wheelchair. Perhaps Aneka helps Ayo look after Assata and Ala? Would probably be pretty cute ngl. Assata teasing Ayo about Aneka when they are trying to take care of her, Ala giving Aneka the shovel talk, both leaving Ayo flustered lmao. Perhaps they also help Assata with her Dora Milaje training along with Okoye. That would be pretty cool to see. (If you want to know more on Assata, you should read the book Black Panther: Wakanda Forever: Courage to Dream. Here is a link to a read-aloud of it I found on YT:
2. (BP: WF Spoilers here) So in the movie, Ayo becomes the new General of the Dora Milaje while Aneka is part of the Midnight Angels(I'm not sure whether Aneka is still part of the Dora Milaje or whether she was kicked out of the Dora Milaje. That part I'm still not sure about, I'll assume that she isn't tho, as convenience for this headcanon) Since now the 2 girlfriends are now in 'separate teams', I wonder how their relationship would be affected. (If it's assumed that the Midnight Angels are like a separate entity from the Dora Milaje and not like a subgroup of it) Especially for Ayo. She probably would have a hard time choosing between staying loyal to the country and staying with Aneka. I believe Aneka would not have a hard time choosing, she's the rebellious one, so she would probably choose to remain with her girlfriend. But Ayo, who knows? I wonder how they will go about it. Might make some cool AyoxAneka angst(even if it hurts 😭)
3. So from Falcon and the Winter Soldier, we know that Ayo and Bucky have a close bond. I'm not entirely sure what kind of bond they have, I personally headcanon them as best friends lmao. Cause of this, I wonder how Bucky would react to Aneka. He would probably tease Ayo about it. Maybe Bucky thirdwheels the two of them, or maybe they go on a double date with Bucky and his partner(Could be Sarah Wilson, or maybe Sam?? 👀) Either way, honestly I think Bucky would be supportive of their relationship. Ayo supported him through one of his toughest times so I think he'd definitely return the favour.
4. (BP:WF Spoilers here) In the movie, I realise that Shuri and Aneka seem quite close. At least, close enough that Shuri gives Aneka the new technology she made for the Dora Milaje to test out. I wonder if Shuri knows of Ayo and Aneka's relationship? Honestly I can imagine Shuri teasing Aneka about Ayo lmao. Maybe whenever Shuri sees the two of them together, she waggles(is that a word?) her eyebrows at them until they both get flustered lmao. That would be so funny to see.
5. (Slight BP:WF spoilers here) When watching the movie, I realised that Ayo and Aneka's characters are kind of switched in a way. I'm not sure whether Ayo was the captain of the Dora Milaje, but in the MCU Ayo seems to have a higher role in the Dora Milaje than Aneka. In the MCU, Aneka seems to be the newbie in the Dora Milaje(Assumed since Aneka's character is only introduced in BP:WF) while Ayo was the newbie to the Dora Milaje in the World of Wakanda comic. Cause of this, I wonder how Ayo and Aneka met in the MCU. Maybe it's the same way in the comics but reversed? MCU Aneka seems to have gotten Comic Ayo's rebellious spirit. Or maybe it's a different way? Honestly can't wait to find out.
So that's all for now. Honestly wish I could write an AyoxAneka fanfiction with these headcanons but my writing is awful lmao. However if any fanfic writers want to use these ideas please do, Ayo and Aneka deserve more fanfiction on them. Hopefully more will come out soon(and apologies for the excess use of brackets btw) 🤩
