A straightforward apology ...? Shocking!

I wasn't at Bobcat Bonnie's Saturday night, and, based on this Facebook post Sharon showed me, I'm glad I wasn't.

On the other hand, it makes me want to go. there because this is something you don't often see these days: a genuine, straightforward, no-excuses apology: "I'm so sorry."

As opposed to, "We're so sorry that you felt offended"; or "We're so sorry you didn't enjoy your dinner: or, "We're sorry, mistakes were made (not by the staff, of course, but by the gremlins running around the restaurant that night)."

It was the Saturday night of St. Patrick's Weekend (an authentically American invention) and Bobcat Bonnie's was, I trust, slammed. Maybe the staff was caught off guard by the St. Patrick's Day extension.

In any case, this public apology should go a long way in restoring the faith of Bobcat Bonnie's customers. And it might bring in some new ones.

Still Sore From Wednesday

Didn't really need to do a journal entry, but its nearly seven o'clock and since its Saturday I don't have to do my yoga and I have finished tending to my social media garden, which seems to get smaller month by month.

Wednesday was curiously errands directly related to things that were making me unhappy. Brooklyn Frame Works was the first stop to drop of the frame that had fallen off the wall two months ago. I am not sure why I have strong bad experiences with local businesses. I think part of it is that I am very deliberate about actively trying to use specific kinds of businesses, I guess its a bigger disappointment when they fail in their duties.

After surviving the interaction without being as openly frustrated and angry as I was, later that day I got this email from George, the owner, the same person who initially took my order.

Hello Trevor,

I just wanted you to know that we have made the appropriate changes to your frame and it is now ready for you. I am very sorry that this issue occurred. I also wanted to let you know that I truly regret that we let have you down and that you are (understandably) not pleased with the services, etc. which you've received from my business.

That said, I do remain concerned about the hardware on the other two frames we did for you and, as much as I understand your frustrations, I was still hoping that I might be able to remedy the potential issues of the 2 frames for you.

As such, I would like to offer to deliver the frame we have ready for you now and pickup the other 2 to assure that they are properly wired. I have limited access to a vehicle, but if you are amenable, I could potentially manage this drop off/ pickup this upcoming Sunday (4/2).

I should then be able to get the other 2 frames returned to you within approx. 2 days.

Please let me know if you are interested in this offer.

I think it took me two days before I even opened the email because the subject line was explicit enough that I knew the frame was ready I was just waiting for good weather to go and pick it up. I was also overwhelmed with annoyance that I had even needed to bring the piece to get repaired because it should have been done correctly the first time.

This is the thing about emotions even if you understand why they're there its not easy just to let them go. I guess that is part of the reason I wanted to do a journal today to make an attempt to move past these negative feelings, not for George but for me. As I said he was one of the three errands I had to run and I had feelings of anger, frustration and rage with all of them. I think it was because I went into all of the situations attempting to just do a task, attain a service or purchase an item and things went to shit.

What I really want to know is how can I reduce this trauma from these kinds of interactions. I have decided to put a moratorium on spending in the hopes if I am not buying anything that I can't invite any additional stress. Mind you think is modus operandi, have negative experience or trauma do whatever I can to neutralize future trauma. But then I realized this is just a part of being human and being in the world and interacting with other human beings. It doesn't matter how much I want to try to do good, there's going to be crap to deal with.

Sadly we can't avoid life to deal with life. It's impossible because life is just going to continue to show up no matter how much energy you put into trying to avoid it. I think what I need to do is find a way to reset my expectations, so I am less disappointed when things don't go the way I want them to. Its sad that we have to expect less to feel better, it doesn't feel like a good way to approach life or anything...

Crow services

After Danny died he noticed that some animals had become more attached to him while others had moved away. Aggressive or death related animals seemed to react positively to his presence, although friendlier animals such as birds tended to fly away.

Of course, none of this prepared him for the number of crows that landed on his window daily. At first he was scared that they would consider him a corpse and try to eat him but after the third time they brought him a shiny object he assumed they just liked him.

Those crows became very fond of him, they let him pet them, they would perch on his head or shoulders, always present and sometimes even watching over him (A particularly intelligent crow he named Poe would drive his parents away with distractions).

So when he moved to Gotham to complete his studies he prepared for a farewell to his feathered friends; said friends simply ignored him and followed him around the city. Danny assumed he wasn't going to be able to fight them, so he let them be.

This is how the phenomenon called "The Invasion of Crows" began in Gotham, the animals were not aggressive but mostly indifferent, some of them agreed to carry letters as homing pigeons (After Danny asked them for the favor) starting "Crow services"

As long as you had the money or something shiny to pay them the birds would carry messages from one place to another, ironically they would give that payment to Danny, who only sighed and let them pass to his apartment, giving them: some food, shelter and a place to sleep, although he was worried the moment his neighbor would complain about the noise.

At first he let them stay on the streets because they were supposed to be free, but after the sixth time he caught Damian Wayne trying to adopt one he just rolled his eyes and now the little ones were living with him.

So yes, when Jason finally decided to visit his neighbor he didn't expect the red eyed crowd staring at him and judging his actions, one in particular lunged at him and he swore he was about to gouge his eyes out before a voice yelled "Poe, wait! "

Said crow looked at him for a few more seconds before perch on the head of the prettiest boy he had ever seen, who approached to offer him a hand "I'm sorry, they're very overprotective" he muttered worried.

Jason almost fell over laughing when he noticed that this was B's "weird case" about the rise in crows alongside the supposed "new rogue" in town, when all he saw was a college boy with a murder of crows living in his house, maybe creating a new messaging system.

He was going to have so much fun with this, maybe he'd even manage to go on a date with his eyes intact, who knows.

Losing my goddamn mind that basic databases are hoarding untold information and only doling it out to institutions that are willing to pay their exorbitant prices

I used to be able to access every single freaking newspaper published in America while I was in college. Then I had to get it through the BPL. Then they made it so that you could only access it in-library. Then they unsubscribed. Then my local library took it on. Then THEY unsubscribed. The only library that might have access to this database will not let me in because I am not a resident of the town, even though they allowed me a library card. So now the only way I have access to this database is literally to find a town whose library is dumb enough to pay for it and move there. Otherwise sorry, only people in this zip code have access to this information. Tough titties.

I AM GOING TO GNAW SOMEONE'S KNEECAPS OFF. INFORMATION SHOULD NOT BE GATEKEPT LIKE THIS AND TAKEN AWAY AT A WHIM.

Watcher fans sure are entitled and a little insane, ngl. "No one is going to sign up for your service! We're all poor! You've made the worst decision, and you'll be back in no time!" Saying this directly to the creators really reminds you of how low the respect for people you don't personally know has gone. I miss the forth wall between creator and audience.

I get and fully understand not having the money to support them, but... Watcher does have fans with money. A lot of them actually. They have merch sales. Their live tour sells out most venues. They have thousands of supporters on Patreon, where the cheapest tier is $5. They're able to gauge the rough finances of their staunchest supporters; that's how they landed on the subscription price. Yes, this move will reduce their viewership in sheer numbers, but to say all of their fans are broke and none will follow/support is factually incorrect.

It may not be a decision everyone agrees with, but severing the limitations of advertisers and youtube in favor of artistic freedom is a good thing. Yes, even if it comes with a loss of revenue. They understand that risk.

Also, I'm begging people to stop treating this like "another Netflix" or something and instead look at it as, "I am supporting a creator I like, similar to Patreon." They literally said in the video that they don't care if you share accounts. Get five friends, and you'll pay $1/mo.

I hate feeling compelled to rant in favor of their decision because I have my own reservations about whether it's the best move. However, I know it's not a choice they made lightly, and I like to think they understand that they'll need to branch out like crazy to entice subscribers.

Korean news media hyping how BTS has continued to release content with no gap even while enlisted in the military.

Yonhap News.

KBS News.

"Is this BTS' military service?" astounded, like... what kind of military service is this where the members are still active while they are enlisted??

They've even coined a new term to describe it: Rubber Shoe Content.

Apparently this sort of thing has not been done before, at least not to this extent, when an idol group is on break fulfilling their military obligation and release things for the fans while they are away.

"They are creating a new activity model to fill the gap with so-called 'rubber shoe content' for fans waiting for BTS, from music videos and entertainment documentary films to offline events."

The planning that had to have occurred and length of time it took for all of this to be produced... BTS and their staff, along with their agency BigHit and the resources available to them via Hybe, were able to carry out this extensive effort so that we would continually have things to look forward to while they are away. They worked hard before enlisting for us.

And we know more is coming! Wait until K-news sees Jimin and Jungkook doing MMA in their sleep!!
