I was tagged by the amazing @nefelimalfoy, thank you for the tag! I hope I’m doing this right, I’m still pretty new to the mechanics of Tumblr so we’re just gonna roll with it and hope this is how it works 😂. I made this on a new one to save space but I decided to do this tag because I figured it’d be a good way for you guys to get to know me since I don’t have an About Me page. Either way, thanks again, and here are my answers!

Named after someone? Yes actually! My name is Morgan and I was named after my mother’s maiden name because they wanted to give me a unisex name so I could be whoever I wanted to be, and that name just happened to work really well. It’s still my grandmother’s name so we always have fun calling each other by my name for fun. My mom also just really loved that name, even when she was a teenager, and wanted to call her child that in the future anyway, so here I am!

Last time you cried? The last time I cried was about three weeks ago. We recently moved several states away from my friends and family and I’m having a hard time adjusting since I didn’t really want to live in this particular state in the first place, coupled with leaving everyone, it’s been a little tough for me. Nothing significant, sometimes I just miss my friends 😊.

Do you have any kids? Nope, I’m only 18 so not quite there yet, but I’m hoping to have some in the future! I’d love to have between 2 and 3 but that all depends on what country I live in and the state of the world at the time I’m ready for them. Raising kids is expensive and really hard so I wanna be ready for them. But hopefully they are in my future somewhere!

Do you use sarcasm a lot? I guess I’d say I use it moderately. I love to use it all the time for humor purposes, but in terms of using it for when I’m annoyed, I guess it just depends on how long I am in an annoying situation and who I’m with. It’s my favorite thing to use for jokes but I’d say I use it moderately in terms of genuine use.

Eye color? I have blue eyes! Although they tend to change based on the seasons. In the winter and spring they are more blue and in the spring and summer they are more green, so I guess it kinda depends on the season and temperature.

Favorite book genre? Definitely fantasy but I will honestly read almost anything just so long as the story is interesting. I don’t really have a “least favorite” genre or anything because I tend to judge a book based on it’s story rather than it’s genre. But most of my favorite books of all time come from fantasy, so I’d say that’s my favorite aside from horror and psychological thrillers which are also top tier genres in my book (can’t watch horror movies but could read horror novels any day).

Any special talent? Okay so actually, I do have one talent that would be considered special. I have no idea where it came from or how I learned it, but ever since I was a little kid, I’ve been able to perfectly replicate certain animal sounds (and a few extra ones that aren’t animals too). I can do a dog, cat (both meow and purr), horse, goat, zebra, pig, dove, Golum (from LOTR), Stitch, trumpet, engine from Cruella Devil’s car (I know this is really fucking specific but trust me on this one), dragon growl/purr (think from HTTYD), and Homer Simpson. Again, I have literally no idea how I started, I just know that when I was a kid, I used to bark like a dog and eventually got good at it (according to my mom). Now, I just practice different sounds I want to make until I can completely replicate them. I know it sounds far fetched, but that’s what it is. It’s really fun to shock people with tbh 😂. But I always have to be careful dogs aren’t around when I bark, because I have set off a barking frenzy before 😅.

What country were you born in? I was born in America but I hope to move to Europe shortly after college. I’m looking at somewhere like Scotland or New Zealand but honestly getting to explore Europe will be amazing in itself and I know I’ll find where I want to live as I go along.

What are your hobbies? Well, writing is the obvious one but I don’t just write fanfics. I also write original short stories and I am working on a fantasy novel currently. Aside from writing, I have been riding horses ever since I was 2 years old, riding my first pony on my grandma’s farm. Now I ride and show competitively, showing in the jumper ring with my 17 hand dark bay Thoroughbred, Moose! We jump about a meter 20 (if any of you know equestrian terms/measurements) but we are aiming for the Grand Prix at some point in my life. I also like to wake surf behind a boat on lakes, draw, read books, and listen to music. I also absolutely love classic cars more than anything. It’s my dream to have one one day and fix her up, so while it’s not technically a hobby since I haven’t done it yet and I don’t know much about the mechanics, I do a lot of research and reading up on them, which will hopefully lead to my dream coming true at some point!

Do you have any pets? Oh god, here comes the word vomit. I could talk about my pets for days 😂 but I’ll keep it short. I actually have three dogs currently, two french bulldogs and a street chihuahua (she does not look like a normal chihuahua at all. She is quite a bit larger and has the funkiest ears of any dog ever. She looks like if a weasel, a chihuahua, and a pine marten had a baby) we found abandoned and neglected when I was 9. I also have a horse and my mother has one as well so as a family we have two because both my mom and I ride competitively. My two frenchies are called Herschel and Humphrey, and then the chihuahua is called Ginger. My horse, as mentioned earlier, is named Moose and my mom’s horse (a 17.2 hand Warmblood) is called Rexy. Despite having all little dogs, we used to have two labs whom I loved with all of my heart, so I’m hoping to get big dogs again in the future when I get out of college. My dream dogs are German Shepherds, Pitt Bulls, and Labs, Collies, or Dobermans. Honestly, just any rescue dog will work, but those are the dogs I envision myself having in the future.

What sports do you play/have played? Like I said earlier, I am an equestrian and have been riding for 16 years but when I was younger I went through a bunch of other sports to see which one I liked the most. Obviously horseback riding ended up winning, but I did try soccer, gymnastics, dance, taekwondo, track, cross country, and wake surfing. Aside from horseback riding, wake surfing was a favorite of mine, and I only stopped when we sold the lake house and boat we had that we would use to surf. But I still love it and hope to try it again sometime! Other than that, I kinda just like exercising in general, so while I don’t do any of this competitively, I like to run occasionally and I ride my bike as much as I can when I have the time.

How tall are you? I am 5’4” or about 163 cm give or take. I am definitely the shortest aside from my mom in both my family in my friend group but I actually like being smaller sometimes. I can officially say I can fit in both a vacation suitcase and a medium sized dog kennel (like for corgis, beagles, etc.).

Favorite subject in school? In high school, my favorite class by far was Vet Med, but I also loved AP Literature. My teacher was the best and reading has always been my strength (rip math). As for my college classes, my favorites are Abnormal Psychology and Creative Writing.

Dream job? Okay realistically, my dream job is Forensic Psychology. Basically a detective with a psychology degree so that you can not only solve cases but also study the criminals behind them. That’s what I am currently going to uni for and what I hope will continue throughout the duration of my college years! I originally wanted to be a Veterinarian more than anything (hence why I took Vet Med in high school), but for a whole magnitude of reasons, I decided against it. I actually worked at a vet clinic for three years during high school and I fucking loved it, but there were just a lot of things that bothered me about the industry (it didn’t have anything to do with the vets themselves, those people are fucking awesome) so I decided it would be for the best if I changed my major. I still fucking love it and I even have an old textbook from when I was going to major in it that I read when I want so I can still stay refreshed on the major injuries and diseases and their cures. I also get some experience with Vet Med since with horses, the owner kinda has to do most of the healing unless it’s something specific like acupuncture, so I take care of all of Moose’s injuries and illnesses in the same way a vet would. If we are talking unrealistic, my dream job would be to train horses in Europe, writing short stories and novels as I travel around the world to train and compete. While I could never support myself with a job like this, horseback riding will always be in my life and I am hoping that my novel will be successful enough to allow me to be an author on the side of my Forensic Psych job!

Writing About Horses (by a writer who has owned horses for most of her life)

I’m making this for anyone writing a book, or a screenplay, or a comic, or whatever that maybe would like to know a bit about horses.

Horse Personalities-

Horses each have their own unique personalities. Some are standoffish and others treat you like you’re part of the herd. Some horses will spook at anything and are all fired up to run and play. Some are lazy and wouldn’t spook even if a you shot off fireworks from their backs. Here’s a look at just some of those personalities.

Geldings (male horses that have been fixed) are usually sweeter in temperament. They spend less time questioning you and more time thinking about their food. Being fixed doesn’t entirely change their personality, but it does take the edge off and makes them a lot easier to handle. Stallions can sometimes be very hard to manage and if you don’t know what you’re doing, they can be dangerous. There are several barns out there that won’t even accept a stallion on the property. So geldings are very common. My gelding is dorky but incredibly intelligent. He’s always got to investigate everything and put everything in his mouth. He’s super sweet but sometimes he forgets just how big he is compared to me.

Mares (female horses) tend to be cranky at times. More often than not, it’s the mare that’s pinning her ears back and swinging a kick at her fellow stablemate while letting out a high-pitched squeal. We call this behavior “mareish”. Mares can be very opinionated and they will probably question your commands when riding them. My mare would never hesitate to express her displeasure at me when I made a mistake in the ring. It’s the joke in the horse world that chestnut mares are the most mareish of all, and for whatever reason, it’s pretty much true. But for all the sass and squealing, I’m of the opinion that mares are the best. They put their all into their work and when you make that special bond with them, it’s unbreakable. I love my chestnut mare.

Ponies are actually little demons. First, let me clear up some confusion. Ponies are just small horses. THEY ARE NOT BABY HORSES. It’s exactly like how there are Great Danes and there are Chihuahuas. Anything full grown that is under 14’2 hands is a pony. So there are pony stallions, pony geldings, and pony mares. If you can’t tell if it’s a pony or a foal, here’s what to look for: plump body with a long tail and full mane? Pony. Short body with lanky legs, big knees, and a short tail and mane? Foal.

Alright, back to the personalities. I love riding ponies, but I am also an adult who can ride well enough to make them do their job. Kids often cannot make them do their jobs. And the pony knows this. And he will throw your kid. He’ll stop at the gate and refuse to budge until he gets his way. He will stop right at a jump and watch your kid fly over his head. He will refuse to lift up his foot so the little tyke can clean out his feet. He will bite, buck, rear, roll, and do whatever it takes to get back to his food. They can be brats, but they will sure teach a kid how to ride well. Below is an example of an evil pony moment. Yes, that is my pony who had just thrown my little sister.

Breed also plays a part in personalities. Hot blooded horses such as Thoroughbreds, Quarter Horses, and Arabians tend to be hyper, spooky, and/or eager to run. Cold blooded horses (Clydesdales, Percherons, Shires, etc.) tend to be gentle and lazy. Warmbloods (the mix of hot blooded breeds and cold blooded breeds) such as Holsteiners, Oldenburgs, and so on can go either way. If the Warmblood has more Thoroughbred traits in them, they may be more energetic and if they have more Draft traits in them, they may be more lazy.

Now for some likes and dislikes.

Horses like:

-when you scratch under their bridle, up and down their face, under their neck, and on their back (They close their eyes and twitch their lips in ecstasy. It’s adorable.)

-treats like peppermints, sugar cubes, apples, carrots, granola bars, watermelon, bananas, etc.

-the opportunity to graze

-rolling after a good ride (or after you spent hours giving them a bath 🙄)

-being turned out in a large pasture to play

-brushing and grooming

-taking naps (contrary to popular belief, horses can sleep laying down as well as standing up. It’s just that they only can for short periods of time.)

Horses dislike (or are scared of):

-pools of water (there could be crocodiles in that puddle!)

-snakes or anything that looks like a snake like ropes, hoses, wires, etc.

-flowers blowing in the wind, leaves blowing in the wind, trees blowing in the wind, etc.

-plastic bags (heaven help us if it’s a windy day as well)

-papers that move

-trash cans (they will stick their noses inside the trash can and then spook themselves)

-animals they haven’t seen before (cows, goats, sheep, cats, dogs, etc.)

-cars and trucks (be careful driving up next to a horse)

-balloons

-umbrellas

-shadows

-ghosts

-goblins

-absolutely nothing at all

-I think you get the point.

So these are the basic archetypal personalities for horses. They do each have their own unique personalities but these types that I have listed are fairly common. There is just one thing I want to stress before I finish...

HORSES ARE NOT DOGS!

I’m looking at you, Disney. Horses do not act like dogs. They require a completely different mindset while training them. Unlike dogs, horses are prey animals. That means when they spook at something, they’re running with little to no care about what happens to you. They can be loyal but when it comes to their instincts, they only care about number one. If their only way out of a dangerous situation is by fighting then they will do so, but it’s not to protect you. That’s just nature.

Another facet of their nature is that horses are herd animals. They like being around other horses and when you separate them, some become very upset. If a horse has had people around him since he was born, he may consider some people as part of his herd, but in general, horses enjoy the company of other horses.

Also, stop making them wag their tails, or pant or play fetch. That’s just dumb and I hate it.

I love horses. They bring so much joy in my life. They are wonderful for children because they teach them responsibility. Even though they can sometimes be frustrating, they will always be there when you need a neck to cry into. I hope this helps in writing your realistic horse character. If enough people request it, I’ll write some more facts about our equine friends.

Animal loving nation

We’re a nation of animal lovers here in Britain aren’t we? We cant get enough of all creatures great and small, from tiny little hamsters right up to the biggest of beasty’s such as horses and cows, Britain proudly and stoically looks after our animals, because we are a nation of animal lovers!!!!, some places are more passionate about animals than others though but what happens in wales stays in wales, much like Vegas really, Our idea of speed dating in wales is chasing the ewes around the field until we catch one.

But seriously we are a nation of animal lovers; we have a menagerie of animals in our household, ponys, horses, tortoises, lizards, cats, guniea pig, hamster, dogs……..DOGS WE HAVE SIX of them, honestly our house is like some kinda petting zoo!!!....! The noise and mess is something else, and that’s just the kids.

No seriously I love all our animals, say love, I mean like, because saying you love an animal is weird right, unless you meet the right one whilst out speed dating in the field.

As said we have six dogs, three chihuahuas (or as I like to call them, vicious little Mexican bastards), seriously they’ve got issues, little man syndrome, I swear I saw one of them wearing a Zoro mask the other day, swinging from the of one the horses tails and swooping up one of the tortoises.

(act out the scene)- ‘we’re going to eat well tonight my friends…..arrrribbaaa’

we have another three dogs of varying breeds, but the apple of my eye is ‘cello’ my two year you old sprokerer pup, you know sprokers right there one of the those fady (invert commas with hands) ‘breeds’, you know the likes off chugs, laberdoddle, cockerpoo (which sounds like a dogey rash you’d catch in Soho if you ask me),

(act out the scene-scratching), ‘got a terrible rash, think it may be cockerpoo’

So yeah cello is a sproker which I’m reliably told is a cross between a Springer spaniel and Cocker Spaniel, or was formally known as a mongrel.

I was told springers and cockers we’re intelligent animals, so as you can imagine I was expecting Cello to be SUPER INTELLIGENT……nope his as thick as two short planks,

(act out the following scene) ‘Cello sit’

(bewildered dog looks around) ‘whos Cello?’

And dog owners we get increasingly more agitated and desperate as we ask our dogs to sit in public,

(dog clocking on slightly looks around), ‘ooh me’

(really pissed of), ‘CELLO SIT’

(dog conceding defeat), ‘all right ill try but I do don’t really feel like going’ (imitate cello trying to go for a poop)

(desperation), ‘NO CELLO I SAID SIT NOT SHIT’!!!

His timing wasn’t great that day I can tell you because as he was trying to go, there was a man sat at the park bench about to tuck into a sausage sandwich.

I took cello to puppy class when he was younger to try and train him a bit better…..oh my god they push those dogs to hard don’t they!!, me and cello walked in and there was three Dalmatians doing the cancan (imitate can) and there was a poodle lying on chaise lounge doing a rendition of lady Marmalade

(act out the poodle) ‘where’s all my soul sister let me here you flow sisters’

Well me and cello had to join in….so we broke out it a bit of slap me bitch up.

We as the human race like to put human characteristics or traits on our animals don’t we, but could you imagine a world where your dog could send you text messages,

My “good” prediction is based on the Law of the Pendulum. Enough Americans, including most independent voters, will be so ready to shed Donald Trump and his little shop of horrors that the 2018 midterm elections are all but certain to be a landslide — no, make that a mudslide — sweep of the House and Senate. If Republicans took both houses in a groundswell of the people’s rejection of Obamacare, Democrats will take them back in a tsunami of protest. Once ensconced, it would take a Democratic majority approximately 30 seconds to begin impeachment proceedings selecting from an accumulating pile of lies, overreach and just plain sloppiness. That is, assuming Trump hasn’t already been shown the exit. Politics newsletter The big stories and commentary shaping the day. Sign up Or that he hasn’t declared martial law (all those anarchists, you know) and effectively silenced dissent. Even if many in the crowd were members of opposition groups, the evening provided a glimpse of the next two years. From 2010’s tea party to 2018’s resistance, the pendulum barely had time to pause before beginning its leftward trek. While we wait for it to someday find the nation’s center, where so many wait impatiently, it seems clear that the president, who swore an oath to defend the U.S. Constitution, has never read it. Nor, apparently, has he ever even watched a Hollywood rendering of the presidency. A single episode of “The West Wing” would have taught Trump more about his new job than he seems to know — or care. Far more compelling than keeping his promise to act presidential is keeping campaign promises against reason, signing poorly conceived executive orders, bashing the judicial and legislative branches, and tweeting his spleen to a wondering and worrying world. Trump’s childish and petulant manner, meanwhile, further reinforces long-held concerns that this man can’t be trusted to lead a dog-and-pony act, much less the nation. Most worrisome is how long Trump can tolerate the protests, criticisms, humiliations, rebuttals and defeats — and what price he’ll try to exact from those who refused to look away.
