PLUS SIZE ASIANS EXIST
Tumblr media
Michelle Elman
As you all know I’ve been talking about the absence of Asians in adverts, campaigns and fashion in general so @lindablacker and I decided to team up on a little passion project. Look at how incredible these women look!
Here’s to showing them what they are missing 💪🏽
Despite the absence in the media, asian is actually the largest ethnic minority in the U.K.
Asians deserve to be represented.
Asians deserve to be seen.
And all Asians aren’t the stereotype of being small and petite.
Being Asian is not one look.
Being Asian is not one culture.
Whilst even this shoot isn’t perfect representation, it shows just a small sample of the diversity within Asia. #AsianRepresentation
Thank you to all the wonderful women taking part and being my stunning models @nesslala @bishamberdas @saalene @kat_v_henry @minakumari.uk @simksandhu95
This was such a personal project and I couldn’t have done it without @lindablacker. She came up with the idea when I was talking about asian representation earlier in the year and I wouldn’t trust anyone else to do it. She has always placed diversity at the forefront of her shoots and her talent is remarkable. This entire concept was her doing and I’m so grateful for everything you did to make this a reality! Thank you also to @umberghauri and @hannah.shaikhup for the incredible makeup! It felt so complete to have the makeup artists also be Asian. We need just as much diversity behind the scenes on shoots as well! x

calling fat, conventially unattractive, poc or neurodivergent/metally ill men who aren't harming anyone "creepy", "weird", "suspicious" or "potentially dangerous" isn't the feminist take you think it is.

Some of the ugliest people you will ever meet are the ones who usually, but not always, hot on the outside. That being said, it’s always best to have moderate workouts during and after transitioning to relocate deposits while on HRT. Plus, you get an excuse to wear those workout leggings and sport bras you’ve been dying to show off.

Just in case anyone doesn’t understand this about me yet: If anyone were to ever start dating me or “seeing me” in any way, then tell me to lose weight, I would literally and loudly laugh in their face. I would undoubtedly have the urge to make fun of them for it too. The dopamine hit from all that laughter will overwhelmingly offset any pain that rejection is capable of causing me at this point at this point in my life.

Some faceless person commented this on my pics while I was on vacation. Now that I'm home, I have a few thoughts!
1. I'm brave enough to put myself out there... you're hiding. I think that says something.
2. Thank you for helping me care less about being pretty. I realize I'm not here to please assholes like you. I'm not here for you to look at. I'm here to live.
3. Hating on fat people is still cool in 2023? That's embarrassing, hateful, and close-minded. Congrats?
4. Why would anyone want to add negativity to the world? I'm an extremely depressed and anxious person, and I was just trying to finally enjoy a vacation with my family. Then I got this notification. Why? Does it make you feel better somehow? That grosses me out. But I'm sorry you're so unhappy...
5. I find beauty in everyone... except cruel people like you. I find beauty in myself, especially because I'm kind and caring. I love myself. I love others. I'm loved by them. You can't change that. :)

wondering if the mutuals would actually try to fight me if i spoke my truth about the barbie movie…
#listen listen listen#it was just an acid trip…and while i agree with the messaging Of Course it just felt a little too on the nose#also was not a fan of the ‘in the patriarchy in barbieland the Barbies are being brainwashed ! there’s no other way they’d want to—#stay home and be a boring housewife !’ when like…it’s a perfectly valid choice. & feminism is about a woman’s right to choose#also something something cellulite something something#it felt like there were like a million stereotypically sized Barbies (like a size 2 or xs or whatever)—#& like 1 or 2 plus sized ones & like that was it. it feels like that for most movies these days but like where’s the medium/large girls yk#i didn’t like how they made ken a villain like i thought he’d have more of a fun/enjoyable role But I understand why they did it like that#also they never mention boys also play with Barbies? I get it’s probably more common for girls because Society but the movie was—#very sex-divided imo. and at the risk of a dad joke it kinda put girls and boys into boxes (ba doom crash)#overall between the catching the barbie plot and the stopping the Kendom plot and the ‘i wanna be a human’ thing at the end—#it’s like they were trying to put several different things together & it shows#i feel like people don’t feel comfortable talking about what they liked & didn’t about the movie because they’ll be accused of not liking—#its messages. but that’s not true for me anyway. i liked the messages and the aesthetic & all. but the way it came together was just…:/#rose.txt

I’m so sick and tired of the “I just care about her health” narrative when people fat-shame. We all know it goes beyond that. Not even considering the fact that you shouldn’t give people unwanted health advice, any person with a functioning brain knows it never stops there. People treat fat people like they don’t even deserve to live. They shame clothing companies for OFFERING plus sizes. They shame fat people who are EXERCISING. They shame fat people for feeling beautiful, and they claim that anyone skinny who finds fat people beautiful is either lying or just has a fat fetish. If you’re still claiming it’s “about health,” you’re delusional. Fat-shamers don’t want fat people to lose weight and “improve themselves,” they want to never have to look at or interact with them. Even if that means making them miserable and potentially suicidal.

Fatphobic leftists are hypocrites. If you support fatphobia, your leftism is a literal joke. I don’t care whether it’s anarchism, communism, feminism, etc. that you support. So long as you believe thin people are better than fat people and fat people are gross/worthy of disrespect, you’re a joke to leftism. That won’t ever change until you start challenging the fatphobia within and around yourself. If you don’t want to do that, then seriously reassess what the hell you’re doing with your life if that’s how you really feel. Because you are NOT a leftist if you are fine with fatphobia. A leftist wannabe, maybe, but nothing more than that, I promise.
