The Princess and her Knight
Pairing: Knight Geto Suguru x FAB Princess Reader
Word Count: 3,383
Warning: Fingering, cursing, making out? Talking of royal politics, voyeurism,
A/N: This gave me the brain worms. I love fantasy. Plus Geto as a knight in leather?! 🫠🥴 yummy!!
Tumblr media
“What a waste! I pity anyone who gets stuck marrying her! I've never been insulted! Good luck marrying her off!” Geto smiled, tilting his head as your latest suitor stormed out of the gardens.
That makes ten suitors so far. All of which have left either furious, like this one, or very disappointed. “He’s gone, Y/N,” Suguru called out with a chuckle.
Upon his words, you poked your head out from behind the large willow tree in the garden. You grinned, stepping out of your hiding place, happily humming as you smooth out your long lavender gown before standing before your knight. Geto Suguru shook his head, offering you his arm.
“Your parents are not going to be happy.”
“Well, I'm not happy!” you stuck out your bottom lip, looking up at your guardian. “Suguru, they want to sell me off like cattle! I’m a person, not a thing! Don't my feelings count?”
“They should, but you’re of age. It comes with the territory of being a princess.” Suguru’s stoic voice had you rolling your eyes. “You should try to get to know some of them, Y/N.”
You didn't want to get to know these strange men! You just wanted to know Suguru on a more intimate level. Peel back the layers of leather, steel, and cloth. What was your dark-haired knight hiding under professionalism and attitude? He certainly wasn't a fan of these strange men coming to see you. You had seen the look each time one of them took your hand. It was a subtle twitch of the eye, nothing any other person would notice. But you, you knew him like the back of your hand. Your knight was jealous.
Suguru would never make the first move because of two things. One, he was your knight, and two, he was of common birth. You couldn't care less about that! If he would continue to observe without acting, you had to take matters into your own hands.
“Why bother? Every single one of them is disappointed with my naivety. They say there’s no point in getting to know someone if I don't know how to kiss properly.”
Suguru stopped in his tracks, dark eyes snapping in your direction. “What did you just say?” Perfect, he was taking the bait.
“I said, all these suitors are running off because they said I don't know how to kiss.” You sighed, shrugging your shoulders. “That's the problem with royal families; they simply tell you to produce an heir. They don't teach you about your body and how to seduce others. I suppose my family name will die out.” You could feel every muscle in Suguru’s body tighten with your words. “All because no one taught me how to kiss.”
“I-I see—!” This is the only thing Suguru had to say in response to your very open invitation. How much more of a hint could you drop!?
Drastic times called for drastic measures.
Suguru groaned, looking down as you hugged his arm. Your perfect breasts were brushing against him. “Suguru, do you know how to kiss?” The sparkle in your eyes and faint flush that dusted your cheeks had Suguru fighting against himself.
“I do,” seeing your excitement, he flicked your forehead, “do not even ask.”
Despite being a young adult, you whined like a child. You were hugging his arm tighter, pressing yourself harder against him. You were not backing down! Not this time! If your parents wanted to sell you off for procreation, you were going to have fun!
“Isn't it your duty to protect me? To protect the crown?”
“Yes, but kissing you is not in my job description.”
“Suguru.” When he looked down at you, he was met with teary eyes. A sight he had not anticipated seeing. “Please.” Inhaling sharply, Suguru watched as those big tears streamed down your cheeks. “It's bad enough I have to marry someone I don't love. All of my firsts are being sold off to the highest bidder. Is it that bad that I want to give my first kiss to whomever I choose?”
“Y/N, don't.”
You released his arm, pressing your hands on his chest, staring into his eyes. He was everything to you: your protector, friend, and first love. Geto Suguru is the man you would choose to be your everything—husband, king, lover.
You wanted to be everything to him as well.
“Suguru, please, I want it to be you.” You stood on your tiptoes, closing the distance between you. “Will you please teach me?” You glanced at his lips through your lashes before leaning in closer. His heavy breathing mingled with yours. An unfamiliar sensation began to flutter in your lower stomach. “Sugu—”
A millisecond before your lips touched, Suguru’s hand shot up, covering his mouth. His reaction felt like a dagger to the heart. He didn't want it. Meaning he must not want you.
You thought what the two of you had was more. That your relationship wasn't merely knight and princess, friends, that maybe deep down beneath the vows he'd taken, he felt more than his duty. All the laughs you shared, the late-night strolls, afternoon naps in the garden. It wasn't; it wasn't just a lie, unrequited love.
But how could it be more if he reacted like this?
Embarrassment washed over the desire you had felt seconds before. Leaving you feeling numb and empty. “I-I have to go,” you whispered, turning on your heels for the palace.
You didn't have a chance to move. Your wrist was grabbed as Suguru began dragging you towards the hedge maze. Suguru didn't say a word as he pulled you deeper and deeper inside. His vigilant eyes searched every corner for any sign of life. He was always watchful, but now, more than ever.
Once he had you as far away from the palace and servants, he turned to glare down at you. Bracing yourself for a lecture, you shut your eyes tight. You didn't have the courage to face him. You didn't want those hopes to be over just yet!
“Don't!” Hands flew up, pushing against his chest. “Please don't break my heart. Let me hang on to the thoughts of us just a little while longer, please! They're the only thoughts that make me happy!”
Suguru’s harsh words never came. Instead, his hands reached down, gently holding yours. “You're not that bright sometimes, are you.” His soft tone had your gaze snapping towards his face. “But then again, that's one of the things I like about you.” Suguru brought your hands to his mouth. “Oblivious and passionate.” Lips, his lips brushed against your knuckles, sending your heart slamming against your ribcage.
“B-But I-I don't understand. You covered your mouth!”
“Because you choose a spot in the wide open to come onto me.” Shaking his head, Suguru gently released your hands. “Just how would you explain this to any prying eyes?”
“Huh, this? What do you mean thi—”
Suguru’s hands cupped your face, pulling you into a deep and passionate kiss. They were soft, softer than you ever dreamed they'd be. You melted into him, kissing him back with the same gentle tempo. Feeling your lips against his, Suguru groaned, his eyebrows furrowing as one hand moved to the back of your head, deepening the kiss.
Your hands gripped his shirt, hanging onto him tight as you matched his movements as best as possible. This had to be the best first kiss anyone had ever experienced. It was passionate and sweet, like the pastries you would sneak from the kitchens. The entire world had stopped around the two of you.
You were the first to break the kiss; the both of you panted, mouths practically still against each other. “That was, wow.” Suguru chuckled as your words murmured into his mouth.
“Yeah, wow.”
“Again.” Was the only thing you said before crashing your lips against his. He stumbled back, falling onto the grass. “Mmm,” You moaned, eyes shut, eyebrows knitting in concentration.
He tasted sweet, like the strawberries you two had shared before you had to meet with the baron. Sweet and tangy, a taste you craved more with each kiss. Suguru’s hands gently gripped against your hips as he leaned back against one of the hedge walls. Feeling his hands, those strong, calloused hands on your body in a way no one had touched you before, had that faint fluttering sensation returning to your stomach.
Suguru felt the way you twitched under his touch, eyes slowly opening to watch your reactions. You were flushed, eyes shut tight, as you kissed him back. It was utterly adorable. He watched you, trying to figure out what you liked and how you were supposed to move. The gods were so good to him. Giving him a chance to not only protect you but also to touch you in ways you'd never been touched.
You pulled back, gasping for air. Suguru could see the hunger in your eyes, the desire for him. So he decided to give his darling princess a hand. Grabbing your hips, Suguru repositioned you so that you were straddling him. Following his lead, you pulled your skirts up a bit, allowing your legs to rest on either side of his body. Your bodies were so close to each other, only your undergarments and his pants separating you.
“Are you okay?” Suguru’s voice was hoarse, lips swollen from the intense kisses.
“I-I feel strange, like my body is on fire.” You knew all about sex and what came along with it. You had read plenty of books, ones your tutors would never approve of. But experiencing it firsthand, words failed in comparison to actually feeling another's hands on you. “I don't know what to do; this isn't covered in my lessons.”
Tensions grew between you, thick and heavy, as Suguru hummed. Half of his dark hair cascaded down his back, while the rest was tied in a bun, allowing you to see his flushed ears. It seemed as though you weren’t the only one feeling the growing heat simmering between you. You knew he wanted this as bad as you did. But to what extent was he willing to go?
Clearing his throat, Suguru gently squeezed your hips. “That's the problem with royals. They always tell you to be obedient and take care of your partner's needs.” rough handles slid down to your thighs. “They never explain your body to you. Or how to please your partner.” Dark eyes seared through you. “Luckily for you, I know how to take care of you, how to make you feel good.” Words trailed off as his blush darkened. “Could I try?” Your face turned red.
“Y-Yes, please.”
Suguru slid his hands up, gently grabbing and massaging your breasts in his hands. “Gods, you feel so good.”
“Oh my god.” You gasped out, arching, pressing yourself closer into his palms. “Your hand is so big.”
“Oh Princess,” Suguru purred, his head leaning in, trailing kisses down your neck, “You sound so fucking pretty.” Fingers began rubbing circles over your hardening nipples.
That hot foreign feeling in the pit of your stomach spread, settling between your legs. “Suguru~ oh Suguru, it feels so good.” Fingers gently ran through his hair, tangling in the dark strands of silky hair.
Encouraged by your sounds, Suguru kissed down your neck, over your collarbone, before he gently tugged the front of your dress down. You'd opted out of a corset today, thank the gods, making it easier for Suguru to pull the brassiere down. Your perfect breasts bounced. With a glance around, making sure the coast was clear, Suguru hummed before taking your nipple in his mouth.
“Oh, gods! You clasped a hand over your mouth, I
In an attempt to silence yourself. “Nngh S-Sugu, that feels weird but good at the same time.”
“Do you like how it feels?” Suguru’s mouth turned to your other breast, giving it the same loving treatment. Tongue swirling around the sensitive bud, making you whimper in turn.
You gripped his shoulders, pressing your chest further into his face. “I-I do! I, oh gods, I had no idea I was capable of feeling like this.” It felt like every nerve in your body was on fire. Every touch, every lap of his tongue, had you craving more. You wanted more, but not for yourself. The desperation of making Suguru feel as good as you did had you feeling confident. “Can I make you feel good too?” Suguru’s eyes widened before unlatching himself from your breasts.
“Y/N, you have no idea what this is doing to me.” When you could finally look into his eyes, you noticed how heavily he was breathing. He looked so out of it like he had gone off the deep end. “I need more of this; don't worry about me.” behind the lust and the need, you could also see the love and adoration. He shifted under you, pressing his hardening bulge against your core before massaging your breasts once more.
Feeling it had you tilting your head back, eyes widening. “Oh fuck~!” Your curse had Suguru groaning, fighting the urge to rock up against you. “S-Suguru~ feels so good, but I uhm—” You felt wet, sticky, and warm between your legs. The foreign feeling had your cheeks burning.
Upon hearing the hesitation in your tone, Suguru pulled away instantly. “Feel what? Are you okay? I didn't hurt you, did I?” His genuine concern had you falling for him even harder.
“No! Not in the slightest! I, well, I feel wet between my legs?” Your answer was formed more like a question. You were unsure how an average couple would mention this. Instead of continuing to speak, you leaned back slightly, lifting your skirts. “Do we, do we need to stop?”
Suguru hissed through his teeth. The sight of your lacey underwear had his pants growing tighter. But it was the dampness forming on them, your arousal glinting in the rays of sunlight, that had him throbbing. His sweet, innocent princess had left a wet spot on his pants. Fuck, he didn't think he needed anyone as bad as he needed you. You gifted, feeling hot under his gaze as he licked his lips, eyes glued to your dripping sex.
“N-No, gods no, that's supposed to happen when you're feeling good and aroused.” His voice was deep, cracking with need. “Do you want to stop? We can.”
“No! I don't want to stop.”
“Ok, just lean back a bit.” Following his instructions, you put both hands behind you, resting them on his knees. With shallow breaths, you watched as he slid his hand between your legs, his finger slowly pressing against your covered core. “Oh my gods,” Suguru growled, biting his lip. He curled his finger under the fabric separating the two of you before dipping his finger between your folds.
“Ah!” You squeaked out, covering your mouth. “Oh gods, oh gods, Sugu.”
“You're so wet, Y/N.” Gentle fingers moved up and down, feeling your folds before they traced around your entrance. “Who knew my princess was so,” he smirked, leaning forward, nipping at your earlobe, “sensitive?” The second that last word left his mouth, he pushed a finger inside of you.
Your entire body lurched; Suguru’s free grabbed your hip, helping steady you. Your mouth was wide open as so many sensations hit you at once. Shock, pleasure, and desire, the feeling of Suguru’s finger pumping in and out of you slowly, god, it was better than kissing.
“Feel good,” you kissed his forehead, “feels good Sugu.”
The pretty sounds from your mouth made Suguru’s throat dry. Swallowing hard, he began pumping his finger in and out of your tight cunt. Your walls hugged him so tight, trying to prevent him from moving. But Geto Suguru wasn't going to let that stop him. Not when you breathed out his name like it was a prayer to the gods. He pumped his finger faster, curling it in before he slid another finger into your heat.
“Oh fuck.” A tightening sensation formed in your lower abdomen. “Oh fuck, Suguru, Sugu~!”
Your knight closed the distance, kissing you deeply. “Shhh, Y/N, don't be so loud. What would people say if they saw you like this?” His fingers curled inside of you.
“They’d say lucky princess!” you moaned against his lips.
“Yeah?” Suguru scoffed against your swollen lips. “You're honest, I'll give you that.” He tilted his head, thumb brushing against your clit. “I think your honesty deserves a reward.” His thick fingers pushed deeper, rubbing against a spot inside of you that had you seeing sparks. Knowing the reaction you would have, Suguru kissed you to swallow the moan that ripped through your throat.
The pleasure felt so good; you wanted to be loud, to let the whole kingdom know how good your knight made you feel. Suguru was right. You had to be quiet, at least until you two could sneak off to his quarters. You would rather die than allow this to be a one-time thing. For now, you kissed him to muffle your whimpers and cries.
When Suguru felt your pussy twitching, contracting around his fingers, he smirked. How lucky was he? Not only was he your first kiss, but he would also get to be the first one to make you cum. And if he was lucky, and the gods were gracious enough, he'd be the only one to do so.
A broken “Sugu” was the only final confirmation he needed that you were going to cum. His hand sped up, fingers fucking into you as your hips rolled, chasing the strange feeling that was fluttering inside of you. You rocked and rolled up, and the coil inside of you snapped. You screamed into Suguru’s mouth as you gushed around his fingers. Your first orgasm had your toes curling, your heart racing, and you trembling in your knight's lap.
“Holy fuck.” Suguru moaned out against your lips. Watching you squirm on his lap had his cock throbbing. “Fuck Y/N.” Shuddering sighs shook your entire being as you pressed your forehead against his, Y/E/C boring into dark eyes. Licking your lips, feeling more confident than ever, your hands reached down, cupping his erection. “Nngh!”
“Suguru, let me help you.”
Just as you learned away, Suguru’s eyes began to follow your other hand, trailing over his shoulder, when a shape caught his eye. He moved, throwing you off his lap and putting you behind him as he drew out his sword. The shape stepped closer, and Suguru clenched his teeth.
“Stop, right fuckin’ there. Don't move a muscle.”
The sudden shock wore off, and you quickly readjusted yourself before scooting back against the hedge. Your heart was thundering again, this time not because of lust or excitement but because of fear. Shaking, you and Suguru watched as the shape stepped out of the darkness and into the glimmering rays of sunlight.
“Relax, I was just enjoying the show.” your eyes trailed over fine clothes of dark blue, embodied with silver threads. “I was surprised to see Princess Y/N, the so-called naive and stuck-up princess, getting finger fucked.”
“Stop!” Suguru commanded, taking a step back towards you. “Don't move any closer, and state what business you have here at the palace.”
“My family dragged me here.” The stranger didn't heed Suguru’s warning and stepped further into the light. “They keep dragging me to meet stupid princesses. They’re so insistent I find a bride and father an heir. After hearing all the rumors about your princess, I hid here before meeting. But by the gods themselves, who would have imagined I found the princess here? And she's not as naive as the rumors stated.” Another step closer towards you.
“Who are you?” You asked, standing up, peeking from behind Suguru.
The stranger chuckled, stepping entirely out into the light. Cerulean blue eyes glittered behind white eyelashes that narrowed as he smirked. “Gojo Satoru, Prince of the kingdom of Fontaine.” Both you and Suguru’s hearts dropped into your stomachs as the prince chuckled. “And I think I just found myself a bride,” his eyes focused on Suguru, “and a husband. The gods are good!”

The him! I reconfigured pressure settings in procreate, plus messed some brushes up, for my own good. Now I don’t have to press that hard to draw a solid line or stain.
Just thinking about what can I concept-artistically do with him. His battlebody was always a mystery to me. I still don’t really know what materials is it made of. I mean the white part at least. Thus I’m trying to figure out the costume.

More goofy idiots; high school musical edition. Also yeah I probably just could have gotten away with Kinkajou (also yes both her and Qibil’s names are misspelled AF in the image I’m not fixing it right now) plus the actual protags but I need to practice for Arc 3 which aparently has like several dozen pseudo-protagonists, which I’m probably going to do in a slightly different style because I like the idea of trying sketchy line art with the procreate brush pen.
Okay now time for the actual headcanons
-I originally was going to give Moon a way different design (her horns where going to be long and curved like ibex horns/crescent moons but I couldn’t get that to work in the sketch; she was going to have a split color design, like one side of her body was going to be light and the other dark like a half moon), but then my brain went “albino=white/pink with red eyes, that’s moon-y because the moon looks white from earth sometimes and blood moons are a thing so red”. I do like the sketch I came up with. I still think I could have gone harder with the wrinkly skin and underbite, since I imagine it those are details frequently found on Nightwings from the volcano.
-I think Moon being a twist villain, or at least an untrustworthy character, would be kind of interesting. Like if she had been the final POV character instead and she’d been kind of this ambiguous, somewhat suspicious guide to the Darkstalker stuff.
-The entire modern Icewing royal family is considered somewhat strange looking by that tribes standards; unusually short horns, typically no fur, and oddly dark and saturated colors. I’m not from a place that gets snowy, white winters that often. More “everything dies back and it gets muddy, foggy, and frosty”, thus Winter’s color palette.
-I have a headcanon that firescales/fireless twin sets are technically identical (Sky being NB), it’s just due to the presences of no/too much fire, their features develop differently. Peril has far richer and saturated colors than Sky, but their actual patterns are identical. Due to her fire, Peril’s feathers never properly grew in (she’s like the sphinx cat equivalent of a Skywing), while Sky by comparison is very floofy. However if you peeled Sky (shaved off their feathers), they would have the exact same body shapes and features as their sister. Also the aforementioned color patterns are based of the American Kestrel.
-I have a couple of old Turtle designs kicking around my Procreate; I originally was going to use one of them (which I might post at some point to embarrass myself), to inspire this one. However, I ended up creating something entirely new. My original design had him as a lot more solid, gross yellow-y shade of green, with no tan underbelly or needle. However I discovered that the underbelly and needle would give him some nice resemblance to his sister Tsunami. Also I was using mata-mata turtles as one of my primary design references and damn those bois got schnoze.
-Turtle also would have been an interesting twist villain. Like if we got faked out like “he’s too suspicious to be the bad guy” and then he just is.
-Funny thing about Qibil; I always mis-remembered Qibils earring as having a black diamond earring rather than an “orange sunstone” one. Perhaps I was confusing his drip with Blister’s. He gets both as a treat. Also the reason why he has the classic fan depiction head sail strandy-thingy because of the scar his mom gave him. The sail behind the scar grew back all delicate and long; he’s let it grow out to see how long it can get.
-The little unneeded spite for the series/fandom I have for some reason built up on Qibil for some reason. Maybe because seemingly the rest of the fandom worships the little guy. I’d probably like him if I actually read the books, but I have developed a stupid re-write of him where he is sort of like the annoying little brother of the Jade Winglet and Jade Moutain as a general who thinks he is hotter shit than he is that nobody dares talk down to for fear of bringing mama Thorn or big sister Sunny down on their asses. He’s tried to flirt with everybody in his winglet and they’ve all pushed him away with some degree of gentleness.
-IDK who was the first fan artist to do magenta-yellow-cyan Kinkajou but it sure as hell works. I have a headcanon that younger Rainwing dragonets tend to have brighter, saturated comfort colors (image the “crayola water marker base pack” color palette). However as Rainwings mature, they tend to “mild” out their comfort colors with more varied hues. Thus, she used to have the neon pink-yellow color palette when she was younger. Also she kind of ended up looking kind of like a lychee or rambutan and I love it.
-I didn’t have too many thoughts on Umber. I mostly just focused on making him look different enough from Clay while still making him look like a possible sibling.
-I thought I was going to put more effort into Carnelians design, but I ended up just yeeting something together based off the real world carnelian stone.
-I know Anenome is described as being pink and blue/white in the books, but where I live we have neat little pink tipped green anemones so that’s her color palette. Also I imagine she wears a lot more jewelry when she’s at home but she just took a few things with her to school.

Can you do a tutorial on how you draw hair 😭
Or just walk us through the process please 🙏🙏🙏
I feel bad because I don’t really know if I’m able to because the brushes I use for hair cost money and were specifically designed for drawing hair and they require procreate and an Apple Pencil or similar stylus 😭😭 Plus I don’t even know what I’m doing half the time I just wing it until it looks presentable. I’d show you my time lapse from procreate but it’s incredibly sped up and I don’t think it would help :((( I just kind of learned from watching others. I just try and chunk out the shapes and then go back in and draw smaller more defined lines. I’m sorry I’m not a tutorial person :(

Artist Process Post
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some process pics and behind the scenes for my Sam and Dean Costume artwork 😄:
My usual style for digital artwork is free-hand painting. I usually either build a reference scene in a 3D modeller or I draw a messy concept sketch from reference photos to get my basic shapes. Next I do a neater sketch on a new layer in Procreate and turn off my old concept sketch layer. After that I draw block colours on a layer underneath my sketch layer, before finally painting the shading and detailed features on a new layer over the top of it all. I use this process because I am a self-taught digital artist coming from a traditional art background. Plus I just really like painting 😄 - laying down colour in freehand brush strokes to build up my picture - it lets me adjust and change my ideas as I go (pre-planning is not my forte! 😅). However a lot of digital art originated in animation and anime styles, so it uses line art and colour fills in closed shapes to produce a much cleaner style. I thought I’d change up my regular process and give that style a go here and I’m really proud of my novice achievements 😄
I still started with a sketch of the boys. I drew the poses and body shapes in blue, using classic superhero poses and musculature. Then on a new layer I added the costume details in red. (I had loads of fun with this stage, it took me back to teenage me who used to draw comic book heroes instead of doing my homework 😂)
Tumblr media
Next I lowered the opacity of my sketch and did some line work on a new layer. The trick here is to try and draw clean smooth lines in a single stroke and to make sure that the lines meet so that shapes are closed. (Later on you select individual closed shapes and fill them with colour, but if you have left gaps in your lines the colour floods out into other areas or fills up the whole page.) My lines aren’t the smoothest (I messy sketch for a reason! I have very shaky hands!!😂) and they also don’t have much nuance to them (lines should vary in thickness to add emphasis and flow to the design) but I was just pleased my work was neat-ish and still looking like my concept! 😄
Tumblr media
The next stage is flat colour. This is a straightforward stage if you have taken time on the line work. I selected the areas that I wanted and used the fill tool to add my chosen colours inside the lines. (I also painted a freehand background to add atmosphere before I started on my shading.)
Tumblr media
The final stages I did were shading and lighting. I drifted back towards my traditional painting style with the shading. Anime styles often use single colour shadows in block shapes, or gradient overlays to add depth, but instead I clipped my shading layer over the top of my flat colour (clipping a layer prevents you from accidentally going outside the edges of the layer below) and hand painted shadows, tone variations and highlights with freehand strokes and a blender brush. The final layer on top of that I used the hard light setting to paint on glows and shine.
Tumblr media
And that’s everything. 😄 All in all this took me about 8 hours but that’s because I’m incredibly slow at line work 😭 (I spent soooo much time erasing and undoing crappy lines) and because freehand painting my shading layer is much slower than using block shape shadows - but I would need a lot more practice at that to make it look good, freehand painting is slower but it let’s me cover more of my errors as I go 😁. So while this art style for this pic is still not as clean or as efficient as typical anime/animation style digital artwork, I’m really pleased with the look of it compared to my usual loose style.
P.s. if you hadn’t noticed, I’m not an expert! This is not a tutorial, this is just an explanation of how I did this this time - and I’m learning more every day. If you wanna learn more about digital drawing from people who know what they are doing you can check out amazing artists like @kirathehyrulian and many others. 🤗
Stay awesome and happy Arting my friends

On the asset store, there's a free brush called "Crisp Webtoon Pen" by Pluvias that might work for you! Or NOHO's "NOHO PEN".
I will try that- however, at the moment, if I try to log into the asset store, it doesn’t recognize me. Right now I’m using the month free trial, so I hope that’s why. I am able to download brushes from searching on google.
right now I’m coloring in another piece of art just playing around. Sadly, I am missing my assortment of brushes in procreate.
clip studio was recommended by several other artists, however, I really like procreate. What I don’t like about procreate is it’s not a true cymk program, so a read a lot of people have issues if they ever print out their stuff, color shift is an issue. Plus, what my art looks like on my tablet in procreate sometimes looks greatly different on my laptop. I know all comps will show things slightly different, but I’m talking about my darks get really washed out, and this was another complaint with procreate due to not true cymk.
anyways, congrats, you got a Rampling post for no reason. But I do want to give clip studio a fair shot, I just hate learning new programs.
thanks for your recommendations I will look into them

can’t tell if u have a faq because i’m on mobile but i’m new to digital art and procreate so i wanted to ask what your favourite brushes are?? btw your art is soosososo pretty 🥹
ah, i don’t have a faq as of right now and i use clip studio paint, BUT
throughout the years i’ve learned i just LOVE textured brushes DSDFKLSD i really really enjoy ✨crunchy✨ brushes, they bring me great joy
textured, rough, pencils, inks, watercolors, i find them super super fun to use! sometimes i even turn off the anti-aliasing cause i find it fun to change things up uwu (plus i never do lineart so, why not make the sketching process more fun? since i’m going to draw on top anyway)
i think i remember seeing some really nice crunchy pencil brushes on procreate so i’d suggest giving them a try! even if they’re not your thing or don’t mesh well with your style, it never hurts to try out something new :D
also thank you sm MWAH 💓💓💓

Robin and I were still doing the radio show in 2011 when we were asked if we could help raise money for the Marion County Literacy Council.
The team that raised the most money would have the honor of kissing a horse. (Ocala is horse country)
Of course, the easy way to raise money would be to simply ask our listeners for donations.
But, our nature is to never beg for money. So, instead, we decided to paint landscapes on canvas, “en plein air,” and sell them.
To paint “en plein air” requires getting outdoors.
At that time I had a dog named Hu. (I called her Hu Baby.) I wanted to bring Hu along on our outings but we discovered that our city and county parks did not allow dogs.
BUT, Florida STATE Parks DID allow dogs!
So Hu Baby traveled with Robin and I as we visited more than thirty state parks in Florida and painted over SIXTY landscapes (in oil, by the way).
The amount of STUFF we had to tote with us on those plein air painting trips, plus the amount of walking we had to do, was akin to a workout in a gym!
Anyway, we DID raise the most money and we DID get to kiss the horse (well, I kissed the horse by myself because, apparently, horses get spooked if more than one person is trying to kiss it (don’t ask me, I’m not a horse person, I was only following THEIR rules!)
This painting shows beautiful Robin painting a beautiful landscape “en plein air” while Hu Baby enjoys lying in the grass.
This painting was done digitally using Procreate on an iPad, with a combination of oil, turpentine, and dry brushes, and an Apple Pencil as the stylus.

I absolutely LOVE your Jyn painting!! I was hoping it was okay for me to bother you about art tips because I was struggling with palettes with mixed colors for realistic portraits and you make it look so effortless (affectionate) and flawless. Would you ever consider recording your process or providing wip images of the general steps you take (like sketching, base color(s), and then like tips for building on it)? Thank you so much for sharing your art it is absolutely gorgeous 😭😭🥺
Thank you so much!! It’s absolutely not a bother at all <3 I am not great at explaining, so I’m sorry if I blabber on/say things that are obvious!! I also have a tutorial here, that’s a bit more organized, plus its another limited palette!
Just fyi, I use the app Procreate on the ipad!
Time lapse
Sketch
Tumblr media
Here’s a wip image of very early on! I use at least a basic grid system for all of my longer portraits, I just have a dreadful fear of getting facial features wrong. And grids/reference photos are absolutely not cheating. I see some of those takes sometimes, it makes me cringe. There are piles and piles of the greatest artists of all time using both of these, there’s nothing wrong with us using them either!
Color Composition
Tumblr media
I start out by blocking out the face and clothes on separate layers and making clipping masks for them, then just picking all the colors I have and mixing them together. Right now I just want to see what the options are! When I’m laying out where I want things to go, it’s helpful to keep in mind general color principles. Cooler colors work great for shadows, they sit back further from warmer ones. So I already know I want the blues for the shadow, now I just have to figure out where to put all the warm colors. I tried a couple different looks (reddish vs yellowy orange on the face for example!), and picked my favorite. You don’t have to exactly stick to it! I couldn’t find a spot I really liked for the red orange until about halfway through.
Rendering
Tumblr media
So I am so bad at explaining things, I repainted a section of her cheek to try to illustrate my render process! I start out by laying down sections of color with the flat brush, trying to get a nice gradient from dark to light. Then, I use a combination of the oil brush and smudge tool to blend those sections together. If you don’t use Procreate, I think any brush with intense blending with a nice texture would work just as well!
Thank you for reading! <3 I want to say that I don’t think my way is the best/only way to do this, and I’m still figuring these out as well! ^.^

This is a little review on Clip Studio Paint for the iPad. I switched over to using it a few weeks ago from Procreate (I’ve never used CSP before that) and just wanted to share some thoughts about it for anyone else who might be trying out different iPad drawing apps (the above clip is a small WIP for a character from a comic I’m working on).
Anyways, I’ve been using Procreate for the last few years and it really is a fantastic program, but there are a few things that have always bugged me about it: no clipping for groups, file info is lost if moved off canvas, brushes are great but have some ‘waxiness’ to them that never felt right for me, Procreate files don’t transfer to Photoshop well in some aspects, the native file type can be a bit weird, etc. The one thing that really bothered me, though, was that I was reliant on the iOS file/cloud system and its eccentrics rather than being able to just natively work from my own Dropbox.
CSP more or less solved all of that, though. It isn’t nearly as intuitive as Procreate in terms of mobile design, but it has all that good stuff you get used to on a full desktop painting application (and I can save my stuff in PSDs natively on Dropbox!). And really, it only took a few days to get used to its interface, so it wasn’t that big of a deal. What I really love about it, however, was that the brush ecosystem is so much better than Procreate’s. I had spent a decent chunk of change trying all kinds of brushes in Procreate, but within a few minutes of using CSP I imported a great pencil brush (for free) and it’s been better than anything I’ve used in Procreate so far (above video is using it). The brush engine just feels better as a whole to me as well; much more natural and enjoyable (this is the pencil brush I’m using if you’re interested).
There are a couple of small issues, mostly having to do with the stability of the app itself: sometimes it doesn’t access Dropbox properly, and I’ve had it close down a few times by itself (it does restore the file you were working on, but it can be annoying). It’s mainly little weird things like that, but they are few and far between and don’t generally hamper the overall experience. The lack of a sophisticated gesture system like in Procreate is probably the biggest drawback, but like before, I got used to it after a few days. Procreate’s recording system is also far superior (even if exporting the videos can be a pain sometimes). The one thing I really wish CSP had, though, was a good Liquify tool, but they do at least have a Mesh Transform tool that can get you by for most things (I mainly use it to quickly adjust sketches).
Procreate does have one thing really going for it though: the cost. You pay a one time fee for Procreate (I think it was $10 a few years ago) but using CSP for the iPad is a monthly fee (I think it was $3 or $5 depending on how many devices you use it on, I just did an annual fee). It’s still pretty cheap, especially against Adobe’s pricing schemes, but for some people it might not be feasible. They do offer a few months of a free trial though, and the desktop versions are a one-time fee if you go that route. I suppose that’s one more advantage for mobile CSP as well, as you can use it on mobile Android/Windows devices too (versus just iOS for Procreate).
Regardless of all that though, I’m having a great time with it! Procreate in the future might address some of the issues I listed, mainly with respects to the fact that they purposely disallow some features in order to keep the limited RAM of an iPad into consideration. But, being able to work directly out of my own cloud storage, plus the incredible brush library (and engine) for CSP has me hooked on it for the time being.
I also, for the hell of it, tried out the new Photoshop app for the iPad. It was uninstalled pretty quickly!

@twotownsfromyou haha yeah got into a tiny eel mood (and thank you!) and ohhh, medusa makes a bit more sense than just ‘jellyfish’ :0
Tumblr media
@candlene thank you very muchhh : ]
Tumblr media
@nihilisticabnormality awh thank you! welcome to my tumblr abode haha and hope you have a lovely day as well!
Tumblr media
@theancientgeekoroman hullo, and thank you very much! I actually haven’t added it anywhere haha but it’s up now on my Redbubble : 0 it’s not on a lot of different items right now because of format but if there’s something specific let me know!
Tumblr media
Hullo anon! and ahhhh hmm tbh not much besides using them/getting comfortable with them/figuring out your own personal preferences? (you can also use flow and brush settings to tweak brushes!) And also finding brushes and organizing the ones that you like using? So you don’t have to dig through a ton (because I love Kyle Webster’s brushes but there’s no way I’m ever going to use all of them at any given point haha). I have gone through them though to see which ones to keep/clean out so my brush library isn’t so overwhelming.
Tumblr media
My setup is basically all the brushes I use the most up top (out of those there’s like...5 I use on almost daily basis) and then other ones I like but don’t use as much or at all in the folders below. As for making brushes I don’t have much experience at all haha; the ones I have made are for spitpaints and more for some quick texture or repeating patterns (there’s a quick tutorial here on how). And humm, if you’re worried about not getting the most out of tools maybe think of how if that tool is doing what you want it to? and if not there’s a lot of other options and brushes to try out, no sweat! like you’re already getting a lot out of them by using them :0
Also this isn’t photoshop but Max Ulichney often has demos of him using his procreate brushes and watching him can help a little in figuring out brushes in general? (plus they’re just cool to watch haha) Hope that was little helpful anon, and awh, thank you very much! (my week was good, hope yours was too!)

could you write something like a part to overjoyed where they tell their family about the babies please?
overjoyed (pt 1.5)
a/n: hi! I started this a WHILE ago and never finished it and then colleen posted her video and I got the inspiration to finish it 😭I hope you enjoy it though and i'm sorry for the wait with this!
---------------
"I think we should just tell her anyway. Even if you don't say it, she'll probably figure it out when you puke at the smell of breakfast," Link muttered as Amelia brushed her teeth beside him, leaning against the wall and watching as he shaved. "You've been having like triple the symptoms you did with Scout." She leaned over, spitting toothpaste into the sink and rinsing off her toothbrush.
"I'm only eight weeks along, Link. Carina warned us about the chances of one or both babies not making it through the first trimester, and I don't want to tell people and get everyone super excited about it just for one of them to not make it."
"How about we try and stay positive? Let's not think about the babies not making it." He dried his face, setting the towel down and turning to her. "Amelia, this is a good thing. I wanna tell everyone, and in all honesty, I don't know how much longer you'll be able to hide this," he placed his hand on her growing bump, not visible to anyone but them.
"I guess," she whispered, placing her hand over his and grinning.
---------------
"Okay, do I get to see pictures of my new niece or nephew?"
"Hi, Maggie," Link smiled, opening the door. "Amelia's got the ultrasound photos; she's in Scout's room." Maggie pushed past him, hurrying down the hallway.
"Photos, please!" Amelia grinned, resting Scout on her hip and hurrying out of the bedroom, grabbing her purse.
"Okay, here you go." She handed the ultrasound photos to Maggie, who stared at them for a second before her mouth dropped.
"Are you serious? Amelia!" Maggie squealed, throwing her arms around Amelia as Scout clapped happily, his babbling turning into a jumble of his limited vocabulary. "Oh my god! They're gonna be so adorable, and we can dress them up in matching outfits all the time!"
"No matching outfits," Amelia shook her head. "I want them to be their own people, not attached to each other all the time."
"What's going on?" Winston asked, stepping towards them.
"We're having twins," Link added excitedly, taking Scout from Amelia. "This dude's gonna have two little siblings in a few months." Winston raised his eyebrows, hugging Amelia before shaking Link's hand.
"Congrats, you two," he grinned, high-fiving Scout lightly. "And you, little guy, you've got a big responsibility ahead of you."
---------------
"Bailey, stop kicking me!" Ellis screeched, glaring at her brother across the table from her.
"Hey, indoor voices, Elle," Link took her and Bailey's plates, bringing them over to Meredith at the sink. "Why don't you guys go play outside with Zola?" The kids quickly jumped up from the table, running towards the back door. Link glanced over at Amelia, who nodded firmly.
"Hey, Mer, come sit down," Amelia patted the space next to her.
"Should I be worried?" Meredith laughed nervously as she sat down; her eyes widened in confusion. "You two have never been serious people."
"I'm pregnant," Amelia blurted, her hand subconsciously moving to her stomach.
"You're having another baby?!" Meredith wrapped her arms around her sister, who glanced over at her boyfriend, grins spread across both of their faces. "Oh, I'm so happy for you two!" She pulled back, glancing at Amelia's expression. "What is it?"
"Twins," Link added, walking up behind Amelia and placing his hands on her shoulders. "And it's still early, so we're just telling family right now." Meredith stood up, pulling Link into a hug.
"Congrats," she patted his back softly, pulling back to grin at them both. "So, how much time did you actually spend watching my kids during the pandemic?"
---------------
"Did you bring alcohol? Because I'm all out." Link chuckled softly and held up the bottle of whiskey he'd bought on his way over.
"Of course. You gonna let me in?" Jo motioned her hand out in gesture, closing the door after Link walked through. "Do I need to be quiet?"
"No, Luna's playing happily on her play mat." Link grinned as he walked over to his niece, dropping a kiss on her head and stealing her attention for a brief moment before she turned back to her blocks. "So, what was so urgent that you needed to come over?"
"Shouldn't we open the bottle first?"
"Fair." Jo hurried towards the cabinets, pulling out two shot glasses and placing them on the coffee table. She watched as Link poured whiskey into the two glasses, downing it quickly.
"Congrats, you're gonna be an Aunt again," he muttered, dropping the glass down.
"What? You managed to procreate not once, but twice?" Link nodded, the smirk across his face growing.
"Yup, and it's twins, so now I'm about to be outnumbered by children."
"We're happy about this, right?"
"Oh, yeah, it's just that Amelia's hormones are out of this world, so I got kicked out of the house because I was drinking water too loudly," he muttered, pouring another shot. "Plus, I figured you didn't want me to surprise you with the ultrasound photo or a pregnancy stick."
"Luna will have little cousins to play with; it'll be so cute!" Jo grinned, glancing down at her daughter nearby. "I never had to go through the hormones of pregnancy, and I still got a super cute baby, so I think I win." He raised his eyebrows in amusement, watching as Luna tossed a plastic block at her mother on the couch. "Are you crashing here?"
"Nah, just waiting for her hormones to take a 180 and for her to realize that she wants me to come home."
"Sounds like a plan. Congrats, by the way," she nudged his knee with her foot.
---------------
"What time are your parents coming?" Amelia groaned, placing a hand on her back as she stood up. Link rushed over to her, taking her plate and silverware and bringing them to the dishwasher.
"They'll be here in about half an hour. You look nervous," he chuckled, closing the dishwasher and starting it. "They love Scout, and they love you. They're going to be over the moon when we tell them they're getting not just one, but two more grandbabies." She crossed her arms, leaning back against the kitchen island.
"I know. It's just getting super real now. Can you believe that we're gonna be a family of five?" Link walked towards her, his hands dropping to her hips.
"It's crazy, isn't it? Scout's gonna be a big brother, we're going to be parents to three kids, and it'll just be a few months." Amelia smiled widely, her dimples showing as she leaned up to kiss him. "Okay, you wanna go get Scout dressed?" Amelia walked into their son's room, speaking in a high-pitched voice to him as she changed him into a new outfit, busying herself with cleaning for the next while as they waited for the knock on the door, which Amelia eagerly answered.
"Hi!" Amelia wrapped her arm's around Maureen's neck, greeting Eric afterward and letting them in.
"Hey, guys," Link hugged his parents, making eye contact with his girlfriend, who grinned excitedly. "Hey, could one of you go grab Scout? He woke up from his nap a minute ago."
"I'll get him!" Maureen scurried down the hall, Amelia and Link sharing knowing glances as she entered the bedroom. "What is this?" She came out into the hallway after a moment, holding Scout up to show off his onesie, reading 'big brother.' "Are you serious?" Link walked over to Amelia and wrapped his arm around her waist, nodding his head.
"A hundred percent serious. Scout's going to be a big brother," he kissed Amelia's forehead.
"Oh my god!" Maureen hurried over, hugging Amelia as Eric shook Link's hand. "When?"
"The babies are due in November," Amelia grinned, watching Maureen's face pause.
"Did you just say babies? As in, more than one?" The neurosurgeon gasped as she was pulled into another hug.
"Yes, we're having twins, and I'm really glad we told you because these pants are way too tight, and I need to unbutton them," she muttered, pulling back and undoing the button. "Sorry, I keep forgetting to go out and buy new pants; I really didn't anticipate how soon I would start showing," she looked down at her stomach, the curve of it already evident. "I'm only ten weeks along, and I'm already ready to get these babies out."
---------------
Link flopped down on the bed, hovering his head over Amelia's stomach, dropping a kiss on it. "Hi babies," he whispered, running his fingers over the curve of her stomach.
"I'm never forgiving you for this. Impregnating me with two babies, I look like I'm thirty weeks pregnant." He grinned. "Yet, it's only been 12 weeks."
"It'll be totally worth it once they're here, though." She hummed softly, placing her hand over his. "So, we've told everyone?"
"Pretty much. Anyone we forgot will hear through gossip, or they'll see me waddling around tomorrow and figure it out."
"Hey, we made it through the first trimester," he kissed her stomach again, his eyes filled with adoration as she glanced at him.
"Mm. Only two more to go."

yooo im a brand new critter and i LOVE your artwork i love how painterley its is! I was wondering if you're comfortable sharing what program/brushes/filters you use please?
Sure!
For the last two years, I’ve been drawing on my IPad Pro using Procreate, though I sometimes do some final color/contrast adjustments in Photoshop.
As for brushes, I’m currently trying out a bunch of new ones because I want to loosen up my style and step outside my comfort zone for a bit, but for most of my critical role drawings, especially for the new ep doodles, I’ve been using procreate’s Pandani brush for colors/light (and sometimes for lineart too!).
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also do a lot of color adjustments using graduation curves and the color balance tool to get the mood/light just right. Plus I use a bunch of warm/bright colors on Overlay for light or Multiply/Linear Burn for shading.

So I recently got an Ipad Air 3 last monday so that I can work on art bc I tend to travel from my apartment to my parents house often (I don’t go out, I just go home to visit my cats LMAO) and so far I actually really love it! Normally I carry around my surface book, but it strains my hand when using it bc of the weight and I don’t like how hot it gets when I draw, so I decided to give it to my fiance so that he can use it when we do travel. Plus I wanted to finally test out the differences between a surface tablet and an ipad! I did buy procreate, but I’m still getting used to it and I’m trying to find brushes to use. Currently I am using the clip studio paint app for the ipad and I mean... it’s basically the same as how it is when I’m on the computer. I just really love how light it is and how convenient the split screen option is while working. Originally I was going to buy an Ipad 7th gen, but the air came with free airpods (for a student tho... so shout out to my lil bro) and like... I lost my old earphones so like... why not loool.

I’m planning to buy the same tablet you’re using, a genius pen tablet according to you faq, but lately I see people asking you questions about using iPad Pro instead? Have you switched or was iPad Pro only temporarily? What are the pros and cons of each device? Thank you Vika!
Oh, I actually didn’t pick up genius tablet after bying ipad pro;; I feel so bad for it sometimes!I might not be able to give very wide spread feedback on each, but from what’s on top of my head:Pros of Genius Mouse Pen i608x (I think;;) :
• It’s cheap! Here it costs like maybe 35 USD at the moment.
• It will last you a long time. I had my previous Genius mouse pen for at least 6 years I think, and even then it still worked, the only issue was that usb wire only worked in a certain angle);
• It’s compatible with any PC and therefore there is a huge variety of programs -Paint tool SAI, Photoship, Clip Studio, Open Canvas, etc. You can really choose what fits best for you.
• It’s easy to install (at least was for me) and works wonders (especially considering it’s not expensive for a tablet).
• Battery in the pen lasts for months and very easy to change (if needed).
• There are couple of extra nibs to change the used one from your pen.
Cons of Genius Mouse Pen i608x:
• It needs USB wire to work, so it is useless without PC or laptop, therefore it isn’t super portable.
• Doesn’t have a screen of it’s own, so once again you need to look in the monitor when drawing, and at first synching your hand with the eye can be a bit unusual (especially if you’re used to look directly on what you’re drawing).
• Pen nibs as well as the protector on the tablet get scratched and stop feeling smooth quite soon. The feeling of drawing on it is rather gritty, especially after long time use. I had to (try) and smoothen the nibs with mild grain emery paper to get more use out of it. ( you can still draw just fine, but the feeling is kind of scratchy, but you only understand it if you have something to compare it to, so initially it wasn’t exactly an issue).
• In this exact model I had some kind of glitch happen (although rarely), where I needed to restart my drawing program because the pen lost it’s sensitivity. Goes away easily though.
• There is no screen.
Now to ipad!
Pros of Ipad Pro 10′5:
• It’s very portable! You can carry it around with you everywhere, if drawing on the go is something you love doing.
• It has a screen, so it’s almost like drawing traditionally but digital edition. It feels quite professional, and it’s just...different, compared to having to look at the monitor.
• Procreate! A very (if not most) popular drawing program. Costs 10$ of one buy, and becomes one of your best friends. I really love it much better compared to SAI, and I feel like it extended my drawing abilities.
• The feeling of drawing on the screen is very smooth, which I really enjoy.
• It boosted my productivity by A LOT, simply because I feel so good when I draw on it. Like the sensations as well as looking at what you’re drawing, I feel much more motivated drawing on it. (and drawing a lot means improving so that’s quite a plus as well)
• There are different screen sizes - you can choose 10′5 or 12′9. • Picks up colours beautifully.
• Procreate has a huge set of brushes, and even if you’re not satisfied with them there are planty sets to buy or get for free.
• When it runs out of battery it usually doesn’t feel that you just sat to draw, as well as the pen battery, lasts quite a while and charges quickly.
• Apple pencil has an extra nib, but I am still on my first and I feel no need to change it.
• It runs very smoothly! Both as a drawing tablet and a tablet you use for regular non artistic things.
Cons of Ipad Pro 10′5:
• The most obvious - the Price. It is very expensive. I have one of the cheapest (without card and with 64gb memory), and it’s still 1000$ (I guess it’s apple but like. ouch). BUT I think you can search for refurbished ones.
• There is a chance of it not lasting as long as you’d like for it to. I know people whose ipad lasted a couple of years, which is..unfortunate, and I kind of fear it.
• After a bit less than a year of use mine stopped charging fully, it always stops at 93%, sooo even though that’s not game changing it’s kind of meh (perhaps anyone knows what’s the issue and how to fix it?)
• I don’t really mind, but many people are irritated on how the pen needs to be charged with it just sticking out of your ipad ahah
• Not exactly a con of the device, but there are times I wish I bought a bigger version, since I usually use it at home and bigger screen is a bit more comfortable to draw on. But that’s sometimes and mostly I am glad I bought 10′5.In conclusion, if you need something cheap that works well - genius is a great option. Especially if you’re a beginner and you aren’t too sure whether you’d really be drawing on it a lot.
But for me, in terms of pretty much every single aspect (ehem for the price) ipad wins? Despite the price I really think it was worth it, and I will probably buy a new one once this stops working. It boosted my productivity, it’s enjoyable to draw on, you can draw on a coach (troublesome not with my neck but you can), on the go and in cafes!
I also heavily enjoy procreate so I’m generally very happy that I ended up buying it. I always carry it on the trips and even if I don’t necessarily have time to draw we can always chill and watch something, because hotel TVs are often on a language you don’t understand.
(I also read fma on it so I really enjoy that too hahaha)
Hope it helps!
