If you thought AI couldn't get any worse, it just did. Every part of this technology from its creation to its users, is being used to exploit and harm people. Anyone who tries to justify the use of this technology in its current form is absolutely evil.
Always do your research before buying art. If you know any First Nations artists who have their own online shops, please link them and support them if you can.

If you don't mind my sharing my own, probably less spicy POC rep in audio drama take: the AD community's tendency toward celebration of "representation" within the medium as if this rep applies to anything substancially besides queer characters is exausting. Sure, queer rep is important but so often reading "there's rep for everything!" and the cast is like, 95% white? Or, bafflingly, people claiming diversity for something that is entirely fanon? Mmh.
Hi anon!
My take is just about as spicy, honestly.
There's a tendency to value "racially ambiguous" characters played entirely by White actors over actual BIPOC characters
(usually with BIPOC actors, though I'm not as strict about this since I don't mind White actors playing BIPOC characters so long as BIPOC voice actors can play White characters and no BIPOC actors lose voice acting opportunities. And as long as more attention is given to BIPOC creators than we're getting currently).
It sometimes feels as though BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, People Of Colour) characters and creators are overlooked in favour of characters who are ostensibly White but drawn by fandom as BIPOC.
I've seen a lot of support in the community from fellow audio drama people; I've felt uplifted by my fellow creators who are White, and I always appreciate and value that. And obviously some shows are just well made and part of their success is based on other factors.
But as someone who's also aware of audio drama fandom, it's easy to see how much favour is given to White Characters drawn as BIPOC in comparison to characters who are BIPOC in text, and I'm not sure why.
That's my spicy opinion. I follow a few BIPOC creators but I can only name two that have an amount of success comparable to White audio drama creators (Gabriel Urbina of W359 fame and Octavia Bray of Atypical Artists), but my knowledge is limited.
And that's not even getting into female led audio drama, but I do love the success of creators such as Lauren Shippen in the space.
I'm not here to yuck anyone's yum or blame anyone for this phenomenon, but I do think it's worth thinking about. Why I see 50 brown Jonny Simses for every canonically brown Samama Khalid. Maybe it's all a coincidence based on other factors. Maybe White characters invite more imagination in their depiction or something.
I don't mind BIPOC depictions of ostensibly White or "racially ambiguous" characters, but I'm not a big fan of if they outnumber depictions of canon BIPOC characters. I just think the latter deserve more love.
I'm no expert. Also I'm mostly in the horror space, apart from my love of Life With Leoh (a sci fi romcom). My knowledge is very limited so if anyone would like to contradict me, I welcome it (especially if it means discovering more BIPOC led shows).
I don't want this to just be about complaining, so please feel free to shout out some fantastic BIPOC led audio drama (either created by or with a majority BIPOC cast) or even share some art you've done of characters from them and I'll happily share them.
My favorites are Wolf 359 (by Gabriel Urbina) and Life with Leoh (by Octavia Bray)!

Indiana University, a major university here in the midwest, recently had a faculty meeting that concluded in a "vote of no-confidence" in university president Pamela Whitten as well as two other academic administrators.
Major concernes raised by faculty included "the university’s barring of Abdulkader Sinno, an associate professor, from teaching this spring and summer after he booked space on campus for a Palestine Solidarity Committe-Hosted Event. Docherty wrote Sinno’s suspension letter, which said he might also be fired following continued investigation.
The second incident mentioned was IU Bloomington’s cancellation of a long-planned art exhibition by Samia Halaby, a Palestinian-American abstract artist."
Link 1
Link 2
More quotes below the cut, in case the links decide not to work.
Faculty cannot remove a leader from the university, and Bloomington Faculty Council President Colin Johnson said the vote is advisory.
Faculty often cheered at criticism of Docherty, Shrivastav and Whitten, and Johnson had to remind faculty to maintain order at least once.
Associate Professor Amrita Myers said IU has changed in her 19 years at the university. She said it’s depressing to work at IU.
“It's very difficult to recruit graduate students here,” Myers said. “It's difficult when they look at you in the face and say, ‘Am I going to be safe because I'm transgender? Am I going to be safe as a woman? Am I going to be safe as a Black person or a Latinx person or an indigenous person?’”
Faculty, including those who successfully petitioned for the vote of confidence, have noted fear of retribution from the administration. An unnamed person took the stand to share a message.
“On behalf of all faculty who feel uncomfortable stating their names, on behalf of faculty who are afraid to be in this room, on behalf of all faculty who feel precarious, please don't leave the room,” the speaker said. “Vote.”"
For Whitten, 827 faculty voted for the no-confidence resolution. Twenty-nine opposed the resolution.
There were 804 people who supported the no-confidence resolution against Provost Rahul Shrivastav. Forty-seven faculty voted in opposition.
For Carrie Docherty, the Vice Provost for Faculty and Academic Affairs, 672 faculty voted for a no-confidence resolution, while 107 were against it.

Propaganda
María Félix (Doña Barbara, La Mujer sin Alma, Rio Escondido, La Cucaracha)—Maria Felix is still possibly the most well-known Mexican film actress. She turned down multiple-roles in Hollywood and a contract with Metro-Goldwyn-Meyer in order to take roles in Mexico, France, and Argentine throughout the 1940s, 50s, 60s. She was so famous and so respected as a dramatic actress that she inspired painters, novelists and poets in their own art--she was painted by Diego Rivera, Jose Orozco, Bridget Tichenor. The novelist Carlos Fuentes used her as inspiration for his protagonist in Zona Sagrada. She inspired an entire collection by Hermes. In the late 1960s Cartier made her a custom collection of reptile themed jewels. She considered herself to be powerful challenger of morality and femininity in Mexico & worldwide--she routinely played powerful women in roles with challenging moral choices and free sexuality. But even still, years after he death, she is celebrated with Google Doodles, and appearances in the movie Coco, and holidays for the anniversary of her death.
Frances Farmer (Among the Living)— has multiple songs written about her, a mentally ill icon, sexy as fuck and a feminist icon
This is round 1 of the tournament. All other polls in this bracket can be found here. Please reblog with further support of your beloved hot sexy vintage woman.
[additional propaganda submitted under the cut]
María Félix:
Tumblr media
She's Thee Hot Vintage Movie Woman of México. She's absolutely gorgeous and always looks like she's about to step on you. you WILL be thankful if she does.
"María Félix is a woman -- such a woman -- with the audacity to defy the ideas machos have constructed of what a woman should be. She's free like the wind, she disperses the clouds, or illuminates them with the lightning flash of her gaze." - Octavio Paz
María Félix is one of the most iconic actresses of the Golden Era of Mexican Cinema. La Doña, as she was lovingly nicknamed, only had one son, and when her first marriage ended in divorce her ex-husband stole her only child, so she vowed that one day she’d be more influential than her ex and she’d get her son back. AND SHE DID! María Félix rejected a Hollywood acting role to start her acting career in Mexico on her own terms with El Peñón de las Ánimas (The Rock of Souls) starring alongside actor, and future third husband, Jorge Negrete. She quickly rose to incredible heights both in Mexico and abroad, later on rejecting a Hollywood starring role (Duel in the Sun) as she was already committed to the movie Enamorada at the planned filming time. Of this snubbing she said, quote: “I will never regret saying no to Hollywood, because my career in Europe was focused in [high] quality cinema. [My] india* roles are made in my country, and [my] queen roles are abroad.” (Translator notes: here the “india” role means interpreting a lower-class Mexican woman, usually thought of indigenous/native/mixed descent —which she had interpreted and reinvented throughout her acting career in Mexico— and what abroad was typically considered the Mexican woman stereotype, with the braids, long simple skirts, and sandals. This also references the expectation of her possibly helping Hollywood in perpetuating this stereotype for American audiences that lack the cultural and historical contexts of this type of role which would undermine her own efforts against this type of Mexican stereotypes while working in Europe) She was considered one of the most beautiful women in the world of her time by international magazines like Life, París Match, and Esquire, and was a muse to a vast number of songwriters (including her second husband Agustin Lara,), artists, designers, and writers. Muralist Diego Rivera described her as “a monstrously perfect being. She’s an exemplary being that drives all other human beings to put as much effort as possible to be like her”. Playwriter Jean Cocteau, who worked with her in the Spanish film La Corona Negra (The Black Crown) said the following about her, “María, that woman is so beautiful it hurts”. Haute Couture houses like Dior, Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Hérmes, among others, designed and dressed her throughout her life. She died on her birthday, April 8, 2002, at 88 years old, in Mexico City. She was celebrated by a parade from her home to the Fine Arts Palace in the the city’s Historic Downtown, where a multitude of people paid tribute to her. Her filmography includes 47 movies from 1942 until 1970, and only two television acting roles in 1970. She has 2 music albums, one recorded with her second husband, Agustín Lara, in 1964 titled La Voz de María y la inspiración de Agustín «The voice of María and the inspiration of Augustín», and her solo album Enamorada «In Love» in 1998. Her bespoke Cartier jewelry is exhibited alongside Elizabeth Taylor’s, Grace Kelly’s and Gloria Swanson’s. In 2018, Film Director Martin Scorsese presented a restored and remastered version of her film Enamorada in the Cannes Classics section of the Cannes Festival and Google dedicated a doodle for her 104th birthday. On august 2023 Barbie added her doll to the Tribute Collection.

November is Native American Heritage Month! And if you want a great way to educate yourself and others about how Native folks are combining traditional teachings and modern pop culture, then you should check out Indiginerds!
I'm the editor on this project so believe me when I say that this book is SO GORGEOUS and each and every one of the stories is authentic and revolutionary in it's own way. Want to hear about creating VR cultural spaces? Or using pirate radio to support Indigenous resistance movements? We've got it!
My story in this book is about the infamous Star Trek: TNG episode, Dorvan V, where Native folks are being forcibly removed from the planet they resettled on after Earth didn't want them. I'll be posting pages from it here soon, and I hope you check them out!
Supporting this project means that you're directly supporting Indigenous comic artists! So please back us and share on all your socials! kinanâskomitin!

Truth time.
Hating on a show before it even premieres all because of developing changes is very narrow-minded. You've already given up on the actors who have poured their soul into every scene. You've given up on the animators who have given every ounce of their artistic energy to ensure we have an authentic final edit. You're giving up on the choreographers who specialize in martial arts that were beyond excited to consult on a project of this scale.
So yes, some things have been changed. Does that mean it will be terrible? Who knows. But you haven't even given it a chance.
Changes are a part of life. In the world of remakes, I think we've already learned that change is needed to draw attention to a new audience. Personally, I welcome newcomers to the ATLA fandom. They'll have the chance to watch the original series, to watch Legend of Korra, to read the comics, to read our beloved fanfics.
I have Asian and indigenous friends who are incredibly excited to see the live action and support the actors 100% no matter what the final story arc will be. It means so much to them that Netflix took the time to build out a cast in a way that is far more authentic, casting-wise than either the original animated series or movie that shall not be named was. By dismissing the show before the premiere, you're dismissing their work and their own creativity.
So, please. Slow up on the hatred for some of us out here who want to give the show a chance. Will it be a hit? Probably not (it is Netflix). But does it deserve to be judged on the series itself and not assumptions that are already being made? Absolutely.
Seriously, the level of anger and frustration in these posts is depressing and in a world that is plenty depressing on its own, why don’t we all take a step back for a few weeks and just chill.
If you're not happy with the changes, fine. Don't watch it. Just don't try to ruin it for others by influencing their opinion before the show even premieres.

Here’s some positivity for two-spirit systems and headmates!
Two-spirit systems and headmates have a vital and essential place both in the plural and queer communities. In a world where violence against both trans and indigenous people is commonplace, now more than ever we must show unwavering devotion and support to the two-spirit people in our spaces. Each indigenous community is different, and two-spirit people may hold diverse views and beliefs about what their two-spirit identities mean to them. Regardless of how you view yourself, your gender, and your relationships to your people and your two-spirit identity, this post goes out to all you two-spirit headmates and systems!
🌈 Shoutout to systems who are reconnecting with their identities as indigenous or two-spirit!
🪶 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who fulfill sacred roles, duties, rituals, and ceremonies in their communities!
💕 Shoutout to individual two-spirit headmates in indigenous, non two-spirit systems!
🌈 Shoutout to indigenous systems who are questioning whether or not they are two-spirit!
🪶 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are activists, organizers, or spread awareness about indigenous and two-spirit identities!
💕 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are artists, musicians, writers, or creators who explore their identities in their creative works!
🌈 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are both Mothers and Fathers, and who embody both maternal and paternal or masculine and feminine energies!
🪶 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are genderless or who exist outside of any gender binary!
💕 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who long to take over sacred roles in their community, but are nervous about starting or don’t know where to begin!
🌈 Shoutout to disabled two-spirit systems - you are a crucial and vital part of the communities you belong to!
🪶 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who are closeted or unable to come out as two-spirit currently for their own comfort safety!
💕 Shoutout to two-spirit systems who take great pride in their identities as plural, indigenous, and two-spirit!
We hope that all two-spirit systems and headmates can have a lovely day today! Please try to take it easy and show yourself and your system some gentleness and compassion today. Remember that you are such a valued and cherished member of the plural community and the queer community as well! We really appreciate your perspectives and are honored to be able to share this space with you.
Two-spirit systems! If you read this and have a way for others to support you (through art, creative content, donations, a shop, PayPal/Cashapp/Venmo/Kofi, literally anything at all!) please send us your posts so we can reblog/boost here! To our non-indigenous followers, show some love and support to the two-spirit systems in our spaces today, if you have the means and ability to do so!
As always, thank you so much for reading! Please take care of yourselves and your system, and have a wonderful day!

Happy thanksgiving to everyone in the states! I do want to also remind and wish everyone a happy national Native American Heritage month!
With na’vi being based on indigenous tribes across the world, it’s important that we acknowledge their influence and do our part to properly educate ourselves on their cultures and history and especially their current struggles today.
A way you can show your support this month is by buying from indigenous artists to show our support! Whether that be local or through sites like Etsy.
Love you all so much! Please take care of yourself and remember to drink plenty of water today!☺️💜

Please look at what Sharon Osbourne recently posted....It's time that we in the Metal community collectively accept that The Osbournes aren't good people in the slightest no matter how influential Ozzy has been for the scene, Kelly also recently promoted Ozempics and has made questionable remarks in the past not to mention her being the spoiled and rich equivalent of a an edgy "NLOG" back when she as a teenager, this might be the least important thing between everything I mentioned but I always found it rather cringy the way she acted as if she is not on the same level as Paris Hilton, if you're participating in the Blockout2024 thing I suggest blocking all of them on social media.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Also Doro commented her post, finding out she is also a zionist was genuinely disappointing for me, she was one of the first women in metal to reach mainstream success along with Girlschool, we can't have shit these days, even female artists end up being problematic and disappointing you, but I'm personally not surprised by her position considering she is German and Germany is directly involved in the genocide and is silencing any support of Palestine with its laws that are supposed to fight antisemitism but are just islamophobic and anti-Palestinian in nature, which shows Germany never recovered from its past like they made us believe, let's also add the fact that a far-right party like AFD is currently rising in the country, both Italy and Germany have currently reverted to their state in the 30s/40s.
Tumblr media
At least Tanya the original bassist of Kittie before Talena commented this under Sharon's post, she has posted about Palestine before and has said that as an half-jewish woman she fully condemns zionism. I hope that now during their comeback Kittie's current lineup will also speak up about it in some way, they showed that they care about many issues in the past like BLM, Feminism and Indigenous people rights, I hope that they will do the same as Evanescence did in 2020, use their platform and voice for to speak up for an important cause during their comeback, I would be so happy if they did.

Is that LILY GLADSTONE ? Oh, no, that’s FREYA COBELL, a FORTY-ONE year old PREVIOUS LAWYER; CURRENT UNEMPLOYED FRIEND ON A TUESDAY who uses THEY/THEM pronouns. They currently live in CASABLANCA, and the character they identify with most is VAN PALMER FROM YELLOWJACKETS. Hopefully they find their own little paradise here in el país de los poetas!
BASICS:
full name: freya sequoia cobell  nickname(s): frey age: forty-one gender: non-binary pronouns: they/them sexuality: lesbian date & place of birth: january 24th in blackfeet nation in browning, montana  occupation: previous lawyer. currently between jobs (they are so unemployed) faceclaim: lily gladstone piercings: pierced ears traits: adaptable, laidback, flippant, particular, unyielding similar to: van palmer (yellowjackets), dean winchester (supernatural), janis ian (mean girls), ferris bueller (ferris bueller's day off)  aesthetics: clay caked under your nails, flannel jackets, baseball played with your childhood friends at dusk, big dogs that look like they have more bite than bark, and the bitter discomfort that comes with the inevitable passing of time.
* mun is not indigenous & while i'm researching, please let me know if anything is wrong or off and i will correct it !
BULLET POINTS:
– born to a loving family on the blackfeet indian reservation in browning, montana. was never particularly wealthy but what their family did have was a lot of love and devotion, and they were always raised to know that they had the full support of their parents – this meant that they're decently well-adjusted. never really one to stress, freya's got a true 'type b' personality. – they discovered their love for art young, and had been sculpting pretty much since their fine motor skills kicked in. art of any kind attracted them, but sculpting especially – eventually decided they wanted to see the world and got a one way ticket to london for college. with their family's support (and sadness), they left the reservation for art school – met their spouse (rania <3) in college after a few flings and fell in love immediately – what was initially a fling turned into a whirlwind romance and of course freya was down Bad – as soon as they started taking the relationship seriously they knew they had to get their shit into gear because sculpting wasn't going to pay the bills – put their big thirl panties on and got into law; was wicked good at what they did, but their heart was never in it. still, they knew they didn't want to go back to the states (as much as they missed their family), so they got a job in chile instead, still wanting to see the world – unforchie law burned them out despite the fact that they were good at it and they quit, hoping to pursue their craft full time – currently is going through a bit of a rough patch with rania since quitting their job </3 they had a lot in savings and rania supported them after seeing how miserable they were, but it's ... rough. they're trying  – kind of having a midlife crisis ? in a way ? – still loves their children and their wife don't get it twisted. their family is their lifeline n main priority always
HEADCANONS:
— really chill. used to be kind of a stoner, now takes edible gummies to sleep ( i love you old people <3 ). still really go with the flow – gives fucking awesome advice – neurodivergent as hell ... chill unless their very specific ways of living are disrupted and they're like woah? – played softball as a kid – very much the yin to rania's yang – still calls with their family daily, facetimes often – has a pretty good amount of tattoos, including two for their kids – likes to birdwatch and play chess in the park – will add more here as i think :D
WANTED CONNECTIONS:
— children they are adopting ( or ones that realize they give good advice and are like hi :p )
– does anyone want to birdwatch with them
– someone get them a job omfg please
– fellow artists!
– erm check back soon
