[Zutara AITA post because it sounds so funny to me]
AITA for getting shot by lightning?
So I (17M) and a group of friends (13M Aang), (13F Toph), (17M Sokka), and (15F Katara) went to war against my tyrannical father in order to save the world from dictatorship. We split into three groups and Katara and I were sent to fight my somewhat tyrannical sister. She challenged me to an Agni Kai which resulted in her throwing lightning at Katara. When I noticed, without thinking, I jumped in front of it to save her. Long story short, I almost died but Katara beat my sister and healed me👍. After Aang beat my father and took away his bending for good, I guess he kind of assumed Katara would date him? Anyways, I guess I cast some sort of love spell (?) when I risked my life to save hers without thinking and she said that she liked me and not him in front of our whole friend group. So he got a little pissed and upset because she was supposed to be his “forever girl” (if someone could let me know what that means too that would be great) and then got pissed at me and said I forced her to fall for me. I was just trying to save her life. Now I feel kind of bad because I took away the romance I guess they had. I mean, I’ll admit that I like her too but I never tried to push it on her! Can someone help me understand this mess? Am I the asshole?

Hakoda teaching Sokka how to put on his face paint and a little Katara coming in all shy and asking if she can learn too.
Sokka opens his mouth and says something like “girls can’t wear war paint!”
Hakoda puts a hand on his son’s shoulder and gives him that fatherly look and a gentle lecture about girls being able to do what they like that makes Sokka cross his arms and pout.
Katara sticks her tongue out at her brother before she tries to follow Hakoda’s instructions and draw the right squiggles.
Sokka huffs and mutters “you’re doing it wrong” before he snatches the paint and does it himself.
Hakoda just smiles, watching his kids do each other’s paint. He chimes in to show them different symbols and colors with their respective meanings, but mostly the kids are just having fun.
Later, Bato has to help Hakoda wash all the paint off of the kids because it got everywhere and Gran-Gran will lecture the two men if she sees that mess.

Zukka: Warm perks
Zukka going on a hunt in the forest and it starts raining so they sit under a tree to be protected from the rain but Sokka is like “its so cooold” so he sticks himself onto Zuko and immediately says “fuck man, are all firebenders warm like you?” so they stay like that till the rain stops while Sokka is progressively invading Zuko’s personal space. When they return the whole team is huddled together cause rain:) so Sokka says “guy, GUYS ZUKO IS A PORTABLE HEATER EVERYONE ON HIM” so thats the story on why they don’t sleep in sleeping bags anymore

i think the thing that bothers me the most about the toning down or dismissing of Katara's anger as a "flaw", or making it some "dark" side of her character (asides from the misogyny...) is that it completely overlooks how it is fundamental to Katara's (and the show's) particular brand of hope.
her anger is the impetus for the Avatar being freed. her refusal to accept being told her place in the world, her refusal to accept "how things are" if they are unfair or cruel. she believes so strongly in a better future, in a world without the fire nation's war, and she is going to be a part of that effort in reaching it.
and yes, sometimes her anger is a flaw. sometimes she takes things too far and doesn't listen. she's like. 14. it's actually good that she's not always in the right, despite her righteousness, because this is yet another of the core themes of the show - learning from each other - from different cultures, from different generations, from different experiences, teaching what you've learned to others in turn, and thereby preserving what's most important, or what might otherwise have been lost. change is achieved through education and compassion for the disadvantaged and hope.
and hope is not passive, so neither is Katara

Me and my cousin were talking today and we created the most amazing thing ever.
May I present to you…
Colour. Sketching. Anatomy. Lineart. Long ago the four aspects of drawing lived together in harmony, but then everything changed when anatomy got fucking hard. Only the Artivar could do it. But when the world needed him most… he vanished. A hundred years passed and me and my brother found the new Artivar, a young lineartist named Aang. And while he can draw lines good, he still has a long way to go before he’s ready to draw shit. But I believe Aang can draw like a normal fucking person.

Don’t think too hard about the world building, because if he’s the only one who can do anatomy then how’d the Anatomybenders attack? We don’t know, so don’t think too hard on it.
