After seeing the 'childe slowly turning into foul legacy' i just thought of something..

What if during their stay while tighnari, y/n feels their hand burning and when they look down they notice their also slowly turning into a abyss creature?

I can only imagine the damage they make if they end up getting out of control at some point and they have a electro or pyro vision!

Anyways, I'm eating this blog spices and using silverware 🙂

my moon and stars, just imagine you initially thinking it's just your hand being irritated and ignoring it until one day you just happen to glance down and see the skin hardening into plates. and you're absolutely terrified, scared to the bone, but instead of getting help you just slowly turn away and pull your sleeve over the affected area- you have to stay calm, you must stay calm for Childe. it was probably a trick of the light, right? a combination of stress and exhaustion, you're sure, and you continue caring for a suffering Childe

nothing gets better; everything gets worse- Childe's transformation, and you know it's a transformation now, since you can see remnants of Foul Legacy in his appearance, continues. it steals your Childe, your Ajax, and replaces it with a monster, one you still love but unnerves everyone else. Tighnari visits and leaves as quickly as possible, providing any medication he was able to get, and you're left to care for Childe on your own. the transformation has stolen his voice, and he lets out pained squeaks and whimpers whenever you prop him up to urge him to swallow medicine. throughout all this you bear your own pain with a smile, steadily ignoring the hand that looks more akin to claws, even if you can barely move it anymore

ironically it's Childe who notices your hand first after you. your fingers were so stiff and jittery that you accidentally dropped a bowl on the ground, which had promptly shattered. with a sigh you kneel to pick up the broken pieces, and suddenly Childe shrieks in alarm and lunges for you, grabbing your corrupted wrist with surprising strength and staring at your newly formed talons in horror. you try so hard to brush it off with a nervous laugh, but you're so scared and before you know it tears are sliding down your cheeks as you let out a choked sob

"Ajax, it hurts"

Childe cries with you, cradling your mangled hand to his chest and whining in fear. with weak tugs he urges you to your feet and onto the bed, where he tucks you close to his chest, quietly weeping. his own claws curl around your Vision which sparks along to your quickened, frightened heartbeat and allows you to tuck your head into the crook of his neck. he knows you're the same as him, the symptoms similar in appearance and pain, and he wishes that he could take your pain away even if it means to become even more inhuman than he was already. but for now, you need sleep- he can see how exhausted you are- and the same gentle care you provided him. he only hopes he can give it to you without the help of Tighnari and the people of Gandharva Ville

HAVE YOU HEARD OF GLOVES BEFORE?? yeah ofc they’re going to stare and give you disgusted looks bc you cover them in bandages but guess what they won’t do… stare at your hands bc you’re wearing gloves like normal people do!!

and like other characters have gloves why not you? i understand being in a hurry while in the clinic, or not finding any gloves “literally how you’re in a clinic” and having to use bandages but what was your excuse before that? they’re just two pieces of fabric sewed together in the shape of your hand you dont have to be fancy about it

and like.. instead of that you wear a cloak, which first is way too much fabric than a glove and two you still have to show your arms anyway when dealing with people on a daily basis

edit: before anyone says its for “plot convenience” when they were attacked in the opening scene.. yeah i don’t remember what tore their hands then but if it can break through their skin and draw blood then it can tear the glove too

reveal yourself band au anon, I wish to know who you are cause you’ve allowed me to ramble

I haven’t figure it all out so this is kinda just spitballing ideas lol

Warning long ass post holy moly

So the band au is kinda written like Clone high, I treat it like one of those really serious romance dramas, except the band au is more just relationship focused instead of strictly romance, also there’s a lot of drama

I’ve come up with four main bands at the moment :3

The Grim Reapers - an underground goth band with Coffin as the bassist and Tissue box as the (main) vocalist, they’re most well known for their songs being about pretty grim subject matter, though they’re probably the least popular out the four main bands

Electric Current - A pop-punk family band with Electracey on the electric guitar, Elevator Speaker on the Bass guitar, Laptop on Drums, and Colin on vocals, they have a very futuristic theme and are by far the most popular band out of the four

Malcolm’s Angels - a band started by Shrignold the head of a love “organization” to help spread the gospel of Malcolm, their music is mostly folk type music, with Unicorn on the harp, Frog boy on the flute, Rabbit boy on the mandolin, and Shrignold on guitar and vocals, the other members of the “organization” are also there, to they just aren’t part of the band, but some of them are on the marketing team

Fly To The Stars - i also refer to them as “the rejects”, an obviously space themed rock band, with Gilbert on guitar, Solar system on the keyboard, Magnet on bass guitar, and Lamp as the lead guitarist

there’s also other characters that aren’t in bands but are still pretty important to the main story like

sketchbook - A young college student, currently studying art, she’s a big fan of Electric Current with her favorite member being Electracey, she’s also roomies with Tony

Tony “Anthony” Clock - An older college student studying history, roomies with Sketch and also a small solo music artist in his spare time (hehe)

saxophone - A music artists who’s songs are usually canoe related, has gained a small cult following due to this

Warren W. Eagle - Local homeless person, usually spotted around dumpsters, can play a pretty mean keyboard solo though

there’s more important characters but I these are the ones I’ve currently planned out (Saxophone isn’t really important though, I just found the concept I had for him funny)

and finally, some miscellaneous facts that I can’t fit anywhere else in this incoherent ramble

The two main locations are Clayhill and Mullhoven, though Mullhoven in this au has become a bigger city, well Clayhill has kept its gated community status

The main three do have a minor role in this au, with them being know as the “weird” residents in town, some situation always seems to be happening to them wether that be their house burning down or finding their pillowcases full of ham

Electracey and Sketchbook are both college age with them both being 17

Laptop on the other hand is a highschooler, being 15 years old

All the characters are humanoids, they basically have human proportion’s but still have some of their weird puppet feaures

Lesley is Electric Current’s manager, though it’s not her only job according to her, she won’t tell much about herself, she likes the game of mystery

Electracey’s name in this au is just Tracey, Laptop’s is Lapis, and Elevator Speakers is Alexa

Colin, Laptop, and Electracey are all siblings, Colin being oldest, Tracey being middle, and Laptop being youngest, well Elevator Speaker is their cousin

Tissue box is fine with her and Coffins band being pretty unknown, but Coffin wish’s they could be as popular as some of the others, and he will do anything to make that happen

Laptop is a big fan of Hatsune Miku and and makes references to her in some of Electric Currents songs when it’s her turn to write one

hey pia! i love your work, hi!!! im a young writer interested in posting some of my big projects online (not that i really expect them to get any traction lol). i was wondering how you protect your work from plagiarism, or how you deal with people plagiarizing your work. it seems like the internet is kind of the wild west, and that’s only sometimes a good thing :/ im probably a bit too poor to afford any sort of copyright or whatever online authors do, but maybe i can save up? 🙏🙏

PS - i didn’t actually care whether or not this ask was anonymous, but from my experience on tumblr it seems like an unspoken rule🤨 so i guess i’ll turn it on🫡

Hi anon!

Tbh the only real difference between anon and attaching your name is that I have the choice to reply to you privately if you send an ask under your name (which is sometimes preferrable if the question is personal or really niche!) and that gives me more options. Anon forces me to only answer publicly (which is probably why you're seeing that so much!!), but the downside is that sometimes I have to delete anon messages when I don't want the responses or even the ask/s on my public blog.

Anyway! This is something I'd respond to publicly anyway, because I think this is a fear a lot of new and young writers have. The tl;dr is that copyright is often assumed on the internet, provenance makes it easy to send DMCA takedowns, and letting a fear of piracy stop you from putting your work up is one of the biggest ways I see new authors handicap themselves on the web currently (idk if it's confirmation bias or what but it seems like I see this several times each month atm from specifically new authors), and it's like...not a thing...to be hampering yourself with.

Okay, now for the longer explanation:

The first thing with copyright is that it by and large depends on your country and what you want to do with the story. In Australia, every created work by default has legal copyright protection simply by being created by someone. We don't need to pay to apply for copyright on creative works, we automatically have it and if we can prove provenance (i.e. if we can demonstrate we created it first, with like a document date etc.) we are legally protected.

So I can't answer for the country you're in, anon, but honestly, this is how it works on most of the internet where you're likely to put a project online. AO3 will respect that a work is yours if it gets stolen, if you can prove you came up with it or published it before another person did (literally all you need is a screenshot or a link). In the Properties or Details of most of your documents, the 'date created' is your best friend.

I've had my work stolen quite a few times over the years. It's been stolen the most from AO3 over to Wattpad (it's almost like Wattpad authors don't realise that sometimes we look lol).

In one case, blanket commenting on one of the fics that the original fic was on AO3 *and complete and not stolen* was enough for the author themselves to take it down. x.x Otherwise what you generally do is send a DMCA takedown notice, which almost all creative sites give you access to when reporting theft (your readers cannot do this for you, you must do it.)

Similarly, on AO3, if this happens, you can just report it. The big downside here is that it can take the volunteers there some time - sometimes up to two weeks or more - to get on top of that, so it might feel like nothing at all is happening. Patience is recommended.

Look, theft happens, you can't avoid it. It is a normal part of putting your work out there in the world. And I can't tell you how many new authors I know who kind of shoot themselves in the foot trying to prevent the acts of thieves, while not realising they're hampering themselves in the process.

Pirating is the worst, but so is never putting your work out there, or waiting for a magical protection from piracy. It doesn't exist - and there's a general rule where the more steps you introduce to stop or reduce piracy, the more you actually alienate your general readers - think about how having right-click disabled on a website can feel, for example. It's considered hostile internet architecture that is often very inaccessible.

(There's also a phenomenon where the authors most scared of theft are the ones least likely to encounter it, because their works are new, and they'll need a lot of time to build up readers and engagement in the first place. Most of the time, those who plagiarise don't want to take the works of new/young authors over the works of experienced authors who just won't think to check the sites they're using. By the time you're popular enough for that to be an issue, you'll probably have more confidence in yourself and your ability to handle this. I will say theft of ebooks on sites like Amazon etc. is way more common than theft of original stories and fanfics on AO3, but both happen more often than they used to, that's just...sadly a part of life.)

Also, applying for copyright doesn't mean your work won't get stolen. You'll still have to send DMCA takedowns, and you'll still have to get in contact with websites. A lot of the time websites have a form you can fill out. You still have to do all that labour and pay to register copyright. The filing of copyright is sadly not a magical shield against theft of a creative work. It does make it easier to take someone to court, but that's expensive, often not worth it, and the labour someone can spend chasing down thieves is often better spent amongst the readers who actually give a shit (they're the ones who often notice the theft in the first place when it comes to serials).

If you plan on publishing ebooks, there's software and organisations you can pay a monthly fee to, who just exist to issue takedown notices to piracy sites so you don't have to. I've never used these personally, but from what I've read on Facebook writing groups, they're often not worth it compared to the past, because new sites spring up all the time. But different authors have different experiences with online theft (and different levels of income to combat it) so you'll hear different things on that front.

I'm...pretty zen about it. To me, it's only a worry when I have to send someone a notice about it, which I don't actually have to do all that often. Like, it sucks, but almost always it never happens as much as a new author like yourself fears it will. That doesn't mean you won't hate it when it happens, but you'll live, and your works will keep finding readers, and it won't be what you're likely imagining it will be. It's for most authors, just an occasional giant pain in the ass that we forget about a day or two later sdakfjdsa

Religiously i think about one of my twitter mutuals pointing out how aoki's design is subtly asymmetrical while ichiban is more symmetrical

when i think of it, masato's design is fairly symmetrical as well isnt it.....

TTYD remake Rambling -- Stuff up until the end of Chapter 2 talked about here

The TTYD remake has so much attention to detail put into it it's crazy… Like, there's the big things to improve the general experience for both newcomers and returning players; the Partner Ring and the new pipe system are much more convenient so far. And the battle tutor toad is great for practicing those tricky Stylish Moves with alot more precision than just going off Eddy's well meaning but ultimately still vague advice, considering some of these timing windows are crazy fast. Or the new partner hint system! I never really got stuck in these games, but I know that it's just a much better mechanic than going allllll the way back to have your future path read if it's something you need. Plus, I love any new dialogue for my little friends, even if they're ordering me about haha.

The layout for everything is so slick now too! And I love the fact you can unlock art and music in the menu by collecting Shine Sprites and Star Pieces -- while already useful in-game, it's just extra incentive to get them. Especially star pieces -- I really wanted to collect them in all these different areas and see the art! And it was sooooo worth it. Concept art for not only the remake, but for the original too. Stuff I've never seen before! Makes me wonder if they got it released just for this remake, yaknow? Just really cool to look through.

I love all the little things too. The new animations of course are obvious, I adore those -- they really add to the personality of the characters. But I also love stuff like how everything in the environment reacts to you, how instead of shaking bushes you crush them, being able to whack literally everyone over the head brings Such Joy …

I think Zess T uses unique cooking utensils for each recipe, which I don't believe was in the original? I think that's so cool ! Like this attention to detail is what I'm talking about. This was a completely frivolous change, but they did it anyways -- and that to me, shows the care put into this.

(Unrelated, but the animation of Mario getting trapped in the bubble in the Boggly Tree is sooooo silly… Pretty sure that was in the original but still. I enjoy Flurrie's personality too -- I never really appreciated it as a kid because I wasn't a fan of her design so I never used her. It's still definitely not my favorite haha, but I could appreciate her more now.)

Also the way they changed the dialogue about the Shadows -- I didn't want to just believe wholeheartedly that they would change the translation, but they actually did here! They didn't do a direct translation of the original Japanese version from my understanding -- opting for Beldam's transphobia to be in how she disregards the sister label but gives a very flimsy excuse for it, when it's obviously out of cruelty -- instead of outright misgendering. But Vivian saying that she just likes it when she's called their sister made me so sad… Vivian you deserve better!!! Another great thing about the new changes: you can whack Beldam over the head all you want in the overworld!

I still can't believe we're in a world where a remake with such care put into it exists for a game I thought would never be ported, let alone treated with such love. And even changing the English Translation regarding Vivian's character? I never in a hundred lifetimes would believe that would happen! It's honestly quite surreal for me.

This feels like such a love letter to the fans of this game, like an early birthday present delivered right to my door. It's honestly hard to describe how much fun I'm having with it and everything I enjoy about it -- I just wanna keep playing, haha. Chapter 3 is when I remember getting really invested in this game as a kid, for various reasons -- so we'll see if I come back for another Ramble then.

Bonus: the scene that my mom kept calling “Flurrie knocking over Mario with her boobs” And wouldn’t stop laughing about

if we go beyond canon - well, the world is our oyster and all. i can see han seok killing kids cuz they got too close to han seo. i can see his delusional ass convincing himself just the world things about those kids and that's why he needed to kill them. it's the good for his dongsaeng - and you betcha ass he would tell han seo to thank him too, tell him what a favor he's done for him, "aren't you grateful, dongsaeng?". if we go with the psycho/psycho route, i can see han seo making up reasons - said those kids touch him wrong or whatever - to get han seok real mad. han seo never getting his hands dirty in the literal sense but stained with blood anyways is suuuuuch a delicious idea. i love a little secretly cunning han seo - i wish we got to see more of these moments of him in the show; rather than just him being the comic relief ;;

no actually i will do one for malleyuu bc this is my personal blog and i'm feeling brave enough to talk about my opinions here

listen. i LOVED malleyuu back in 2020-2021 and i still think their dynamic is adorable in theory but i really don't like what is happening to their dynamic at the moment. first of all, i'm not a fan of what's happening to malleus's character and second of all, there's just. too much malleyuu. like i'm genuinely starting to like any other yuu ships more simply bc they don't have malleus and they already sound more original to me. also i really hate how some fans are saying "but this game IS about malleyuu, malleus is your canon love interest!!!", NO THIS GAME IS ABOUT MAGIC AND SOLVING OTHER STUDENTS' PROBLEMS EVEN THOUGH YOU'RE NOT A THERAPIST. so yeah anyway rolloyuu though- *i get slapped*

my relationship with riddle x floyd is like. it sounds fun in theory but it's also kinda ehhhhhh.. like basically i want riddle to have a partner who can teach him to have fun and relax a little but also i want him to stay sane while dating that person. i guess they're like a cute fun little ship to me but i can't really see them in a serious relationship? seth x riddle supremacy 😌✨

backstory to this au: arthur is the sacrifice to the monster under the mountain, and john is that monster.

“Run.”

He hesitates.

The monster narrows its eyes, and Arthur turns and bolts.

The gravel and dirt under his feet send him skidding into a wall, and he chokes off a cry. He can't hear it, but that doesn't mean anything. It doesn't mean anything. There's an opening, to his left, and he throws himself through it.

He's dead. He's fucking dead.

His foot catches on some dip in the rocky floor, and he goes down hard. He scrambles up again, ignoring the stinging of his palms, ignoring the sharp pain in his knees, and keeps going. He crashes into another wall, and pushes off of it, turning and running blindly into the dark tunnels.

The monster roars, a sound that fills Arthur’s blood with ice-cold fear, a sound that sets him stumbling.

It's going to kill him. It's going to fucking kill him and there's nothing he can fucking do about it.

The passageway narrows, suddenly, and Arthur stops when his hands hit jagged rock. It's slanted, though, leading into a smaller tunnel, and he follows it without hesitation. It keeps getting smaller, forcing him to drop to his hands and knees, until he can’t get any further down the tunnel. He twists around as well as he can, until he's staring blindly into the darkness he just came from.

He knows he was bleeding. He knows he left it a fucking trail right to him.

He's just hoping it can’t reach him in here.

Hulloooo! I just restarted my island last week! It's my personal nightmare currently but it'll get there. How have you been?

I’ve been pretty good! This weeks been a bit of a time cause I had cold that just completely zapped all my energy, but other then that, I’ve been doin pretty ok. Nothing to stressful or crazy and nothing too like.. exciting to talk about I guess, lol.

Hmmm, I think the most exciting thing that has happened is that I drove home from ‘the big city’ and I even drove in it, so like…. That was a bit crazy! Slowly getting there on the driving thing lmao.

I’m both really excited about starting over my ac island and like. Nervous lmao. I never really got very far in decorating it tho, so I’m looking forward to a completely fresh slate with it!
