THICKER THAN BLOOD

PART ONE : misses on a mission!

content warning: fluff(?), profanity usage, platonic use of pet names (sunny, my girl, etc), not really proofread so beware of grammar mistakes…BLACK!FEM!READER

synopsis: the uzui’s get requested for a infiltration mission but this may be more than what they bargained for…

characters: tengen, makio, hinatsuru, and suma.

notes: this does contain some modern aspects that have been intertwined with the past of the taisho era…so just roll with it. also lowercase is intended.

[before the infiltrating the yoshiwara district]

in your eyes this was a normal day, waking up to makio yelling at suma who accidentally knocked something over or whatever happened…you were just exhausted.

‘hell, ion blame her, it’s 7 in the morning on our day off.’ you thought to yourself as you walked from out of your room to the main living room. hina was the first to notice when you walked in, makio and suma still in the midst of arguing.

“good morning [name]! hope you slept well.” she said with a small apologetic smile.

“morning hina.” you say letting out a yawn which, surprisingly, caught the attention of the other two women in the room.

“oh, good morning sunny!” suma says smiling with a pillow in her hand to block whatever makio was trying to throw at her.

“hi [name]...sorry for waking you.” makio says in an apologetic tone.

“let’s go get you some breakfast. mmkay?” hinatsuru says with her signature smile.

“yeah, sound nice. you guys should come too, i’m pretty sure you’re hungry.” i say trying to discreetly diffuse the situation going on in the living room. the four of us went into the kitchen to make breakfast. the calm atmosphere allowed my brain to fully awaken and think for a moment. i let my thoughts run wild while mixing up the dough and then realize someone was missing…

“where’s tengen?” i ask the three woman. ‘i know his supersonic hearing ass ain’t sleep.’ you thought to yourself.

“he went to meet with master. he should be back shortly.” makio stated while focusing on her task.

you hummed in satisfaction at her response, soon enough breakfast was ready and tengen eventually returned. although, he seemed a bit off but it’s tengen…nothings ever normal with him. you just decide to brush it off for now trying to focus on other morning task. it wasn’t until you finished helping makio clean the kitchen when something dawned upon you…

‘i haven’t washed my hair in three weeks fuckin round wit tengen ass.’ you thought as you excused yourself from the older woman’s presence, he thought it would be good bonding to slay demons together, honestly you thought it was a good idea but for THREE weeks straight??!! hell nah. migrating to the bathroom to start washing your hair, by the grace of god the process seemed easier than normal and you were done rather quickly.

(ah shit sum bouta happen..)

you were then sitting on the floor, in front of a mirror with various hair products spread around you. after about 45 minutes of doing 2 different hairstyles which didn’t work out, you reasoned with putting your hair in one puff and swooping your edges.

(mood asf)

walking out into the living room you find the four adults staring at you. they then motion you to come sit down so they can explain what’s going on. skeptically you do as your asked and sit down.

“please don’t tell me you pissed off shinazugawa again.”

“HUH? if i did then he had it coming!”

“can you focus on what we’re supposed to be talking to her about.”

oh right, he almost forgot. he didn’t wanna tell you but he had to, he wanted you to know, you needed to know. as he was explaining everything, himself and the wives watched as your face contorted, indicating that you wanted to make a comment, but you held your tongue in order to hear the whole story.

(why did i make that so dramatic like it’s not that serious.)

“so you’re tellin me that master wants us to infiltrate the red light district because of the girls disappearing too often..?” you say looking up at the white haired man trying to make sense of the situation.

“yes, we suspect a demon is hiding amongst them. master requested for us specifically because of our previous background.” tengen stated calmly.

he learned that infiltration missions made you nervous. the lack of info and the endless amount of ‘what if’s’, it was easier to have a foundation of what you were dealing with but you wouldn’t know until you got there. it could be one of the 12 kizuki or a demon close in power, then there was the possibility of multiple demons working together, not to mention that this could be the last mission for all of you. as you were lost in thought, you barely heard tengen calling out to you trying to retrieve an answer.

“yo..[name]!” he said damn near yelling.

“damnit. yes?” you said looking over at him.

“you in or..?” he looked at you with a seemingly blank expression.

“sure am.” you said as a toothy grin made its way onto your face.

“that’s my girl.” tengen replied with a similar grin now on his face.

Ok hear me out, Reader is besties with Gojo and Geto and was paired with them to deliver the Star Plasma Vessel(Riko) and Readers notices how the girl's passing seemed to take a toll on Geto the most, so after seeing his decreasing health, both physical and mental, they decided to reach out to him and pull him out of his dark thoughts. Yes I am in denial about the recent chapters, this is how I cope. This man deserves all the hugs in the world😭😭

The merging of the Star Plasma Vessel— Riko Amanai— and Tengen went to shit the second Fushiguro Toji came into the picture.

You tried, you tried saving her even though you were scared. No one could touch Satoru, but Toji could. Toji killed him and Riko like it was nothing.

You and Suguru weren't enough, he was too strong. When he killed Rainbow Dragon, Suguru's strongest curse, the reality set in that you two most likely weren't going to make it out alive.

You did, thankfully, but at what cost?

Your quaint little friend group broke up. Shoko was busy learning medical Jujutsu most of the time, Satoru had officially become the strongest and started taking solo missions which left you and Suguru.

But after that day, you noticed something was wrong. Very, very wrong. Suguru had lost weight, his hair which he prided himself in taking care of had split ends and was mildly greasy and he had eye bags.

This also added to the fact that he was coming late to class almost every day sent alarm bells in your head, so you decided to check up on him.

In your home clothes since you didn't have any impending missions and classes were over, you knocked on Suguru's door. He's stopped coming to class the past few days which scared the shit out of you since Suguru doesn't miss class unless it's something serious.

You waited, hoping to hear an answer. When you didn't, you checked the doorknob. It was open so you walked in, announcing yourself just in case Suguru was busy with something.

His room was a mess. The trash can was overflowing, clothes were piled up in a corner and dishes were stacked on the sink.

Suguru was curled up in his bed—which was also a mess, sheets that needed to be washed and his bed was in desperate need of a making— his blanket pulled up to his neck and his body facing away from the doorway.

"Suguru?" You whispered, checking his breathing just in case. It was there and stable, which meant he was just sleeping. You gently tapped on him, noticing the soft tear lines on his cheek.

He had cried himself to sleep.

Suguru stirred as his eyes opened slowly, blinking away the tiredness when he saw your concerned face. "[Name]..? What are you doing here?"

"I came to check on you. You haven't been in class, so I got worried. Are you okay?"

Suguru sat up and rubbed his eyes. He didn't realize he'd been gone for that long, it felt better to stay asleep than wake up. Some days he wished he stayed asleep forever.

"Sorry, I lost track of time." He came up with a lie off the top of his head, hoping you wouldn't question anything and leave him alone.

He knows you though. Knows how empathetic you are, knows how caring you are to the people you love, so it was no surprise when you sat on his bed making yourself comfortable. "Are you okay, Suguru?"

"I told you, I just lost track of time—"

"Suguru..." Your voice was soft as you took his hands into yours. Usually, his were well-manicured and painted black, but now they were long. Suguru hated it when his nails were long, they always got in the way when he was fighting curses. "You don't have to lie to me, you don't have to say anything you don't want to. Please, just tell me if you need help and I'll help you. I won't ask for anything more."

Suguru tensed up. Does he need help? He hasn't felt like himself ever since... everything happened a few months ago. The world felt so grey and he couldn't think of a reason to keep waking up and getting out of bed.

So what if those monkeys needed saving? Sorcerers shouldn't have to put their lives on the line to save people who were barely worth saving.

He feels sluggish. He reeks, his hair feels so greasy and his eyes are heavy. He just wants to lie down and hopefully take his last breath. He can't keep doing this— be a sorcerer that is.

He hates morals, he hates that 'the strong should protect the weak' bullshit, he hates that he wasn't strong enough to protect someone who needed saving, someone who deserved it.

He's so tired. Tired of the Jujutsu world, tired of the fake lies of non-sorcerers, tired of everything.

"...please." He mutters out, his hands slightly squeezing yours and his head hanging in shame.

You nod as you help him up. You don't need to tell him anything right now. If he needs you, if he needs your help, that's all that matters.

You start a bath and help him get undressed, closing your eyes for the sake of his privacy when you got to his boxers.

The water was warm against your legs, and you thanked yourself that you wore shorts instead of sweats. You washed him, taking extra care of his hair to show him you remembered how much he loved it. Show him how much you care about him.

You leave him momentarily to grab clean clothes, settling on an old Mario shirt, black shorts, and a pair of fuzzy white and black socks.

"Do you want to stay here while I clean?" You asked as you tied his hair into a loose ponytail, the smell of his cinnamon shampoo in the air.

Suguru shook his head. He wanted—no— needed to stay close to you. To hold you, to feel someone else's warmth against his. You didn't ask any questions, letting him hold onto your waist as you went to make his bed.

He stayed like that, pressed against you as you sorted his clothes, cleaned his kitchen, swept his floor, helped him take care of his nails, and him made him food.

Suguru doesn't feel like he deserves this. He doesn't deserve you. You're being so patient with him, you aren't judging him for being messy or unclean, you weren't judging the fact that his fridge was almost empty, you were just there.

There for him, to make him feel better.

Suguru feels like he's going to cry.

He's pressed against your chest, hands wrapped around your waist as he listens to you read aloud a book you had brought with you, hands in his hair, scratching his scalp gently.

"...thank you." He mumbles, wiping the wet away from his eyes. He feels so loved, like someone would care if he flat out died.

You smile softly, pressing a kiss against his head. "I'm always going to be here for you Suguru. No matter what."

And for the first time in months, he believes that it's worth it to live. That if he gets to feel you like this, he might stay in the Jujutsu world. All for you— everything for you.

before you read: this older version of reader isn't a gojo or a fushiguro at all. your uniform is inspired by nobara's uniform and mcu! wanda maximoff's attire during age of ultron ♡ lemme know if you guys noticed the 'reference' in this post :)

geto suguru still remembers the very first time he saw you, and he would be lying if he said he didn't fall for you at first sight. when yaga had informed them of the new classmate, he, along with gojo and shoko, was genuinely curious, and they were very much in awe of seeing you the moment you stepped inside the classroom.

you were dressed in a customized jujutsu uniform that was a tad different from theirs.

it was scarlet in color. it looked similar to shoko's uniform, except you had your gakuran-styled top was unbuttoned to reveal your inner white blouse that was tucked in your scarlet skirt that reached your just above your knees. on top of that, you wore black knee-high socks and black low-heeled boots and arm bracers.

"hello, everyone! my name's [surname] [name]. it is so nice to meet you all."

suguru, satoru, and shoko stared at you with interest as you introduced yourself to them. that heavenscent smile you gave them that day was something your boyfriend will always cherish. he found it difficult to breathe that day because you had ironically taken it from him.

the way your [color] eyes shone and your [color] hair bounced when you bowed and gave them your name—how can someone look like a goddess just by standing there?

"oi, suguru! close your mouth or else you'll catch a fly! don't tell me you're falling for the new student already~"

he remembered satoru slapping his back because, apparently, he hadn't stopped staring at you even after satoru and shoko had already gave you their names and he had his mouth hanging agape the whole time. that was how lovestruck he was to meet you.

there was just something so bewitching about you. you were just so different.

at first, suguru, satoru, and shoko thought you had heavenly restrictions due to your lack of cursed energy, so when you told them about your chaos magic and how you got referred to enroll at jujutsu tech by master tengen himself, they were in awe. not only were you strong in nature, but you were so friendly and kind.

you were very caring for others. as soon as one of them gets injured, you're quick to patch them up while simultaneously fending off curses. he admired this kind heart of yours so much.

suguru's infatuation with you was constantly teased by satoru and shoko. he would always run to you the moment he saw you in trouble in the middle of a mission.

suguru will be instantly by your side while you clutch your injury. he would insist on carrying you after a mission, but that would genuinely leave you confused, considering you can always patch yourself up with your magic, but you take advantage of this just because you want him to hold you ♡

suguru is so extremely nice to you. suguru would give you his notes, insist on studying with you because satoru was goddamn annoying, which is partially true because mostly it was to spend time with you, and he would randomly hand you snacks or drinks, which just so happened to be your favorites all the time.

"oi, what about me? how come [name] gets snacks from you?" satoru huffed, folding his arms across his chest as his eyes glared at the young man.

suguru raised an eyebrow, "are you [name]?"

"no?" satoru raised an eyebrow back, confused.

"then none for you." suguru would say bluntly, rolling his eyes as you snickered and boast the snack suguru gave you to satoru.

satoru would dramatically gasp, have his hands on his hip as he turns to shoko, "this bastard, can you believe him?!"

suguru is such a gentleman too. he offers his seat to you every time there isn't any available. if there is a seat available, he would be the one to pull out the chair for you. he's also the kind who would cover the edge of the table when you duck or something because he doesn't want you to get hurt or bruised and he always always opens doors for you and would always tell you "after you milady" followed by a wink.

headpats. headpats. lots of headpats. suguru would always find himself ruffling your hair.

sometimes satoru would even go, "i want a headpat too." just because he wants to tease and annoy the hell out of you two.

hanging out with you after missions was something suguru looked forward to. at first, you thought it nothing big, but that was until satoru and shoko started making excuses of being busy with something, so it always ended up just being you two, and little did you know, satoru and shoko were already setting you up with suguru.

suguru would often take you to eat at your favorite restaurant and would always pays for it.

"what do you mean you're paying? we should split the check!" you argued, trying to give your money but all suguru does is chuckle softly and pat your head.

"consider it my treat for doing so well earlier. you deserve it." suguru insisted, smiling ever so kindly at you.

out of the three, you were closer to him. apart from always being with suguru all the time because of satoru and shoko, he was so easy to talk to. suguru was approachable. you two just seemed to click the most, and thanks to you, he was able to change his mindset towards non-jujutsu sorcerers.

"i see, so you don't agree with me either like satoru, huh?" suguru's face faltered into a frown.

the two of you snuck out and were stargazing outside your dorms while everyone was in deep sleep. you and suguru would often delve into meaningful conversations while you enjoyed each other's company.

"if you put yourself in a world of violence and bloodshed, you might be able to find a reason to live. you won't find it. whether you're on the side that takes lives or the side that saves them, nothing beyond your own expectations will happen. nothing in this world can fill the hole that is your loneliness. you will wander the darkness for eternity. so, if both sides are the same, then choose to become a good person. save the weak, protect the orphaned. you might not see a great difference between right and wrong, but... saving others is something just a bit wonderful."

you didn't just open suguru's eyes like you were introducing him to a world of colors; you had opened his heart too; giving him a new perspective in life and the light and warmth that he wished to have and share with you.

it's been a year since you and suguru met and became each other's. you were now in your second-year together with him, satoru and shoko. it didn't take long for suguru to start courting you, and you two ended up being a couple sometime last year.

currently, you were at his dorm. the two of you were studying for exams together when you noticed him.

"suguru?"

you stared at suguru's gaze. he was staring at you with so much love and adoration that it made you a little concerned.

"yes, love?" he hummed in a questioning tone.

you found yourself laughing, "sugu, you've been staring at me like that for a while now."

suguru's eyes widened at that, and the next thing you know, he averted his gaze away from you for a brief moment as he softly chuckled at himself before turning his head towards you and this time held a closed eyed smile as he rested his chin on the palm of his hand with an elbow propped against the wooden surface of the table you and him were sharing.

"sorry, love. i just couldn't help myself."

you shook your head, unable to control the smile that was growing on your face.

"keep staring at me like that and my name might end up the only thing you can answer on our exam this coming week."

"i know, i know. sorry, my bad." laughter escaped his lips.

"is something on your mind? if you want, we can take a break." you insisted, closing your notes and taking a hold of his free hand that was laying flat on top of the table.

"i'm just thinking about you, that's all." suguru gently pulled your hand towards him and pecked your knuckles a kiss.

"i love you."

love might be the twisted curse of all in this world, but with you, all he could think about was how love is a blessing.

I will not:

Do NSFW requests. I feel uncomfortable writing that stuff and I'm still underage.

Write for real life people outside of their movie/show character. I just don't really like that sort of thing, but I won't judge you for liking it!

Write anything nonconsensual or forceful or anything like that. It, again, makes me uncomfortable.

Do any type of incest. It's disgusting end of story.

I will:

Write femxfem. I'm pansexual and absolutely don't mind any requests you have for a girl in a certain fandom.

Write fluff, angst and anything sfw. I don't think I've written any of those categories before but I do enjoy reading them. For some reason I favor angst the most lol

Do x nb reader. As I said, I go by she/they pronouns and figured out that I don't mind people using she/her pronouns on me, but I still like being addressed as they/them.
