#personally the story i want to see would come from forever's presidency but from the minute elections were announced i resolved not to vote

personally i think the best way to look at this election in terms of "who am i (as a viewer) going to vote for" is that first and foremost, for us, this is a STORY. we are watching a story (and also a fun game and funny people doing funnies together, but for election purposes we'll say that)
therefore our goal should not be "which candidate has the best policies" or "which candidate is best for the island". we don't CARE. that's not our business.
we don't care what's good for the islanders. THAT'S NOT OUR BUSINESS. we're not islanders nor are we players. we are the guy in the bar watching the Truman show. our business is "what story do we want to see?"
each candidate offers something different.
(note: i don't claim to understand their platforms, for personal reasons i haven't followed it closely bc i kinda suspected there was gonna be drama and didn't feel like stressing myself over minecraft politics; my local elections freak me out enough lol)
for a rough example:
elquackity: obvious federation plant, clear enemy for the rest of the server. man-vs-government arc.
forever: did you like cellbit's infiltration arc? i could predict something like that following in forever's footsteps (forever sneaks around the federation, learns a few secrets, continues to make his changes to the server but does perhaps experience horrors, most likely a slower burn than cellbit's arc but certainly a lot of espionage and theorycrafting)
gegg: gegg chamg e world
those of y'all with a sounder grasp on candidates, sound off in the notes on what we can expect FROM A STORY PERSPECTIVE; i actively ignore the debates (they make me want to cry lmfao). i don't care what their platform is exactly, where will it take the story?
and i'll repossess your liver if i see any goddamn cc hate or harassment in there. this is more than not a safe space for that, this is an active danger zone. watch yourselves. <3

I began a story for the This Would Have Happened Anyway Challenge but didn't get it done in time to submit it. So I wrote a little more, and maybe you would call this a drabble? I don't know. I'm posting it here because it's a drop of water in my personal writing desert.
In Panem, canon-divergent. Everlark married instead of Quarter Quell Reaping.
"Are you coming downstairs soon?"
Katniss is standing outside our bedroom door, watching me, her hand pressed to the frame, half in, half out. I was startled at her voice, unaware of her presence, and she smiled at the reaction. We've only been married and living together for a few weeks, and it's reassuring she knows me so well. It makes me feel better about our situation.
I wasn't startled because it was Katniss there, catching me off guard—it was a knee-jerk reaction. I tend to get lost inside my head and zone out, and after years of Mother's insults (are you stupid? Why didn't you answer me?) slung my way like daggers, defense is my natural response.
Licking her lips, she shrugs. "Your brother is here."
Ah. Now I know precisely why Katniss sought me out. At the ridiculous wedding reception thrown for us by President Snow, Rye pulled me aside to tell me he was planning to come by once we had a few days to settle in. Bring over some of my things from the bakery and a few things our parents want me to have now that I am a married man. Or a forcibly wed, frightened seventeen-year-old. You know, whichever way you choose to look at it. I digress. Katniss and I didn't choose this route. But I love her; she cares for me, and we're keeping our families safe.
Back to Rye. He and I discussed it moments before our families left to catch the train back to Twelve—because even a victor's relations are limited on time they're allowed outside the District. This conversation was weeks ago, and I forgot about it. The memory lapse isn't like me, but I think it can be forgiven, considering how difficult it is to breathe under President Snow's intense scrutiny. I don't know how we'll spend the rest of our lives under his thumb. Who knows. Maybe we won't live long enough to find out.
"Oh. Okay," I say. My eyes flit from Katniss's profile to the sketchbook in my lap. I feel like I need to collect my thoughts before seeing my brother. "Would you tell him I'll be down in a few minutes?" I venture. It's more a question than an answer.
She frowns. That's her answer: a firm no, Peeta. I won't hang out alone with your brother while you keep drawing. "Do you want me to send him up?" she suggests—more of a threat than a question.
"No, just give me a minute," I say, carefully closing up and laying my sketchbook on the side table before sliding off the mattress. I don't want to be cornered by my brother in our bedroom. Rye's itching to badger me with questions I sure as hell don't have any answers to.
She groans, and I laugh under my breath. If we were close enough, she'd pinch my side or smack my arm for finding humor in her misery. My family is standoffish with Katniss, and her response is in kind. "I'll wait for you," she says.
Of course, she will. I'm like a security blanket for her.
"Well, don't just stand there gawking at me from the doorway," I say, bending over and grabbing yesterday's pants off the floor. I should have been up and around hours ago, but last night was horrible, and it took forever to fall asleep.
"Fine," she says, stepping inside the room and pulling the door mostly shut behind her, keeping her eyes averted until I buckle my pants over my undershorts and put on a clean shirt. I raise my eyebrows in amusement.
We're still dancing around each other. Not used to these close quarters. Sharing the same bedroom, sleeping in the same bed. Dressing in front of each other. Maybe I should make an effort to cover up more. I don't know. Being in my underclothes doesn't bother her when we go to bed. We curl around each other, seeking solace in each other's arms, keeping the darkness at bay. It's not the blackness of the night but rather those dark thoughts invading our minds like wind in the trees. Unpredictable, tangible.
"You don't have to look away. I don't mind if you see me," I remind her.
"Yeah, yeah. We've had this conversation before."
That makes me smile.
"Are you going to yammer on or go into the bathroom and brush your teeth?"
Playfully, I cup my hands in front of my mouth and blow air into them. "Hmmm. Maybe I should leave them be. My morning breath might be enough to keep Rye from showing up here unannounced."
Katniss rolls her eyes. "I doubt that. Boys are gross."
She's not wrong. I've smelled much worse than Rye's bad breath living at home with my family. When we were still in wrestling, he'd pin me to the floor, squat over my head, and fart in my face. I shudder at the memory.
"What?" she asks.
I wave her question off. "Believe me. You don't want to know. You could go ahead and head downstairs—I'll only be a minute, I promise."
"Uh, no. I'll wait for you."

hello! I really liked your character analysis, especially Hobie and the interactions with Diane (she´s very groovy and beautiful n.n) so, I wanted to ask you if you think Hobie could make good friends with someone with a symbiote and the symbiote itself, my spidersona (symbiotesona?) is one of those. I know there´s some story between Hobie and symbiotes in his universe but I couldn't find the comics where it is explained.
You're amazing and keep going!
Oh absolutely!
Especially for Hobie - He has a symbiote dog!
Tumblr media
Hobie is accepting of everyone (he's the best I love him) even symbiotes!!
In his universe, V.E.N.O.M was used in his universe as a weapon for President Osborn's police force - but I think Hobie would see the underlying greed and cruelty of the cops as the problem, and not the symbiote.
If anything I think he'd really respect your sona -
Cause that takes a lot of mental fortitude, and moral and strength in general so he'd be like 'That's fucking metal.'
If there's side effects, or conflict between your sona and the symbiote - I think he'd always want to help, and would like, speak to them as separate people lol
He knows that sharing the same body doesn't make them the same person, and that your sona was full person before the symbiote, so he would see them as a Duo - like two partners in crime.
He'd be really careful about his music playing and volume cause he wouldn't want to hurt your sona, so he would always give a heads-up.
Diane would be SO interested - and she'd probably have to think about SO MUCH, get prepared for a lot of questions!
Diane is pretty clever - but a little naive, so she'd be solidly in the 'All Aliens Come in Peace.' Star Trek started in 1966 - so Diane basically grew up with it around.
A symbiote is something alien, so it can't be murderous and evil - even if it eats people. It's not from here!! Don't be mean to them!!!
If your symbiote eats people, or needs meat, Diane would..honestly not be that freaked out. She'd have to think about it.
"So, Do you eat people on your planet?"
"Well, I guess that's not too bad. I mean..some people have a pet pig, some people eat pig, some do both. So it's like..the same, right? Not that you see humans as pets, you know -"
If humans can not snap and eat their pets and stuff, maybe this symbiote knows food from friends like them! If anything, Diane would be upset if people rushed to judge your sona OR the symbiote.
Her defense : "They didn't ask to come to this planet!" or Hobie's favorite -
"Why are you shaming them! They're not the only immoral ones. There is no ethical consumption under capitalism!!"
Hobie knows she is just repeating something she heard him say one time - and that is NOT what that phrase means, but he thinks its funny, so he lets her say it.
The three (four - actually) could have so much fun!
Hobie would probably get them hearing protectors so they can hang out backstage without getting hurt.
Tumblr media
And y'all can deck it out with cool stickers and punk marker graffiti!
And although beef and stuff probably doesn't compare, Diane would still try making stuff like beef tartare, koi soi, or other raw meat dishes, just to see if they like 'em!
She LOVES sushi, so sashimi is a must to try - She'd want everyone to feel included at the potluck - it's only right, nobody leaves hungry!!!!
[Also thank you so much for the sweet words!!! I know I take literally forever to go through my inbox (it takes me very very long and im gonna point at adhd) but these things really brighten my day and give me the inspiration to keep sharing. It means a lot, thank you!!]

i wonder sometimes if people miss that when jiang cheng says "don't make me look bad" what he means is "not embarassing me in public is the only thing i have found that gets around how my mother has convinced you that you are disposable" except when he means "if the howling mob comes after you with torches and pitchforks i'll stand with you but honestly, bro, i don't like our odds."
It has taken me forever to get to this and I am so sorry. Real life was draining me and I’ve finally got some time off to recover. Thank you for your patience.
It is astonishing to me that so many people somehow fail to understand the importance of reputation in the story. It’s a damned central theme how reputation, how what people think of you or say about you directly impacts how they treat you. It’s a presiding factor in Wei Wuxian’s downfall at the end of his first life. He makes everyone scared of him and thinks that’s going to make them leave him alone, instead it terrifies people to the point that the Jin can use a base truth, that he doesn’t have much respect any authority or boundaries aside from his own, to paint him as an imminent threat to the world. He built himself a reputation as an uncontrollable and frankly heretical wildcard and it comes back to bite him in the ass when people respond accordingly.
Reputation matters hugely to the story and to the people in it. Jiang Cheng is not wrong for trying to impress this on Wei Wuxian.  Reputation is, among other things, a currency all it’s own and, if we’re focusing on the Yunmeng boys here, Jiang Cheng spends a lot of his life shelling out cash to try and cover Wei Wuxian’s debts.
When they’re kids, it’s one thing. It’s still very not good and look, for me personally, I would not chose to spend a whole lot of time with a guy who seemed to think that violating my boundaries and publicly humiliating me was prime entertainment but Jiang Cheng loves Wei Wuxian and Wei Wuxian loves him back, even if they do not express that in ways that are all that healthy. Wei Wuxian teases Jiang Cheng because he wants his overly serious baby brother to relax, to smile and laugh and have fun. That’s a wonderful impulse and there are times where it’s works. There are also times where it’s utterly inappropriate and Wei Wuxian is, I think often willfully, blind to that. And worse, he doesn’t listen when Jiang Cheng tells him so. I once saw someone claim that Wei Wuxian only acts like that in public so that Jiang Cheng can look good by reining him in, which would be an interesting take if it was at all supported by the text instead of being a blatant contradiction thereof. It would require that Wei Wuxian not only listen to Jiang Cheng but do as he is asked. Which he does not at any point ever. It’s kinda a massive plot point that Wei Wuxian Does What He Wants and no one can tell him otherwise.
When they get older the consequences of Wei Wuxian’s habit of dicking around and messing with Jiang Cheng go beyond pissing off Madam Yu and become a lot more pronounced. Madam Yu’s anger is understandable even if the way she expresses it is unconscionable. She knows that Wei Wuxian’s behavior is damaging both to the Sect and to Jiang Cheng’s reputations and that it will and does actively impede Jiang Cheng’s ability to stand on the political field with the other Sect Leaders. Because when they look at him they see his reputation: the less favored child, the lesser cultivator, the Sect Heir and then Leader whose own right hand constantly dismisses and undermines him. Why should they take him seriously?

Welcome my new club member ________,
When I see you, I can’t stop my eyes from following you as we conversate about whatever it is. I’m listening closely to your voice, but it feels like my mind is just focused on how adorable you look. Everything flows in from one ear to the other, I’m sorry that I’ve been failing to focus on the topic at hand. It’s such a sweet treasure for me to be able to spend time with you. In addition to being able to be with you on occasion we’re now in the same club.
Having you join the National Gargoyle Society was a wonderful surprise. To see you’ve found an interest in my likes has made me overjoyed. Being able to share interests is such a wonderful feeling, I never knew it would make me this hectic. I’ve already started planning our new activities together. I want you to feel welcomed to our new club together. For the first few sessions, I imagine we’ll be going over the basics as a small study session. Even thinking of our new time together makes me happy in anticipation.
Don’t worry about understanding everything on the first try, we have plenty of time to go at your pace. When I think about this situation being real, it almost feels as if it’s all an illusion. However, I know it’s very real. Such a sweet fantasy has finally come true. Tell me, how are you feeling about joining the National Gargoyle Society? Do you agree that it feels as though a sweet fantasy has come to life? If only time could go faster till next week, the weekend couldn’t feel any longer than normal.
I’m sure you know this already, but previously it would only be me who took interest in such a club. That was a rather predictable outcome. Not many are interested in gargoyles these days, yet the ones who had been interested turned away. Seeing me as the head of the National Gargoyle Society was a major problem for others. My very presence was a threat to others. So, when you joined there was a mix of emotions.
Currently, I’m overjoyed, but I previously thought of it to be the opposite. Perhaps someone had bullied you into the club or you felt pressure as my lover to join me. You always seem to have a soft spot for me when you hear about these stories. While I'm happy to hear you care, I would like you to know, there are times I enjoy my alone time. To know your true reasons weren’t out of pity or pressure made me fall in love with you all over again. You joined out of pure curiosity and for the love of gargoyles not for anyone else. I love this side of you.
This moment will turn into such a sweet memory to keep forever. I’m drowning in my own fantasies thinking about our future club meeting. Once again, I wish for that moment to come faster than usual. ________, there couldn’t have been a more perfect member to join me but you. As your club president I promise to show you the proper club activities. As your lover I promise to not make every session just a one-on-one date. I wouldn’t want our personal connection to get in the way of our club. Knowing you, I have no worries about such a thing happening.
Well, I believe it’s time, I’m going to hand you this very letter now. Till our next meeting ___________.
Love,
Malleus Draconia

"He cares that somewhere, there's a person who used to have friends and a family and a nice little house that he made with his own hands."
ha. hahaha. hahahahahagha.v.v..vm what if I just AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA STOP REMINDING ME THAT PHIL HERE USED TO B E JUST LIKE THE REST OF THE ISLAND 。゜゜(´O`) ゜゜。 THE PAINNNNN
etoiles here is genuinely a complete ray of sunshine here, and the part about not being able to hold a weapon but being able to hold pomme ? being able to mentally keep who he used to be alive within the stories shared to their youth about his past and explorations over the years in such a lively way that brings joy to the kids whenever they get to hear more 'dad lore' / 'tio lore' 😭😭 and passing down his way of combat to them !!!!!!! actual pain and agony !!!!!!! he is such a skilled marksman and so will these kids be in his image after that aspect of his was taken away !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and omg the little section of him dismissing others claims towards phil and gathering information himself aaaaaa
and oh my god. oh my god you didn't. 'in another life' lines are my weakness and I felt genuine pain in reading that end section about etoiles in a way mourning the life he knows that they could've had together had things been different and using those feelings of yearning to make a difference in the life they have right Now and he makes things Better ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️ genuinely such a good person and it brings me much joy and pain aaaaaaaaa codebreakers are legit everything to meeeeeee
FML!Etoiles means the world to me I'd die for him
He comes in and is exactly what Phil needs to feel better. Etoiles is there for him as soon as they have their first conversation. He knows, like an instinct, that him and Phil are meant to be friends, they were going to be best friends no matter what
And when everyone does eventually find out, he is the first one to call everyone idiots for not realising. Finally, he gets to take out all of his built up rage about what Forever has done. He gets to take Phil from Forever for the last time.
It took far too long but at least it happened.
When Phil gets worried about Missa and Chayanne, he goes to Etoiles. If he can't be at home for whatever reason, he will follow Etoiles. Etoiles will be there in an instant if Phil ever needs him. All it takes is one message and Etoiles will be there before it's even sent.
Should Forever find his way back to Phil, Etoiles will make hell on earth to take his best friend back.
Part of the reason Etoiles runs for president is to give Forever a lower chance of winning. If Etoiles won the election, he would find a way to get rid of Forever for good. That's all he wants. He wants the feds, the code and Forever dead and that is all.
He manages to be the only one to question what he's told, the only one that considers Phil to really be a person. Etoiles sees people as people, no matter who they are. This is not something exclusive to Phil, he likes to know people, who they would be if these terrible things had never happened.
He sees something in everyone, it's only more obvious with Phil because his personality has been taken and replaced. Etoiles sees that and takes it as a challenge. He realises that something about Phil is not what people think and he wants to dig deeper. He wants to know, he wants to learn and experience people, the way they really are
Etoiles is the stars and Phil is the moon, do NOT sepearate them!!!!

anyway, here are my qsmp election thoughts:
-I think q!Cellbit/Forever are the most qualified in terms of adequate game knowledge, desire to drive forward the lore, community support, and passion for the position. HOWEVER as a viewer it is the most boring choice. I enjoy qsmp for the serious lore AND the goofy funny stuff, and I think that insaneduo are a little too serious for it to be an interesting outcome. I also think that while being president might motivate their charcters in an interesting way, the aftermath of losing the presidency might be even more interesting and could start a q!Forever villain arc which I personally would enjoy a lot
-q!Baghera would be a good choice for her heart and passion, and it would be a good move for her character, but I think she fundamentally lacks the presence needed to convince people to vote for her. If she was able to take more control over the debates and presented her points with more confidence she would be a more formidable opponent
-q!Etoiles would be an extremely good pick due to his knowledge of the land itself and the mods. He is also extremely charismatic and everyone seems to love him, despite him not being overly interactive with the others on the island. But, like q!Baghera, he lacks a presence necessary to be president, and because he is generally more comfortable on the sidelines I don't see him pulling the necessary votes
-q!Mike, q!Felps, and q!BBH would be good choices if not for the other candidates who are such powerhouses. These three simply fall into the background. I think they work more as counsel members/those in the presidential cabinet because they work well as sources of knowledge/power/etc., just not as leaders themselves
-ElQuackity would be the choice that I think presents the most narrative opportunity, but I think it is something that has been seen before (the bad intentioned candidate wins, usually by unfair means, leaving the rest of the characters in a state of despair but motivating them to fight back against a common enemy). Further, he hasn't presented much in the debates other than defending himself (though I feel this is mostly because the federation is using him as a pawn and they have programmed him with as little information as necessary, leaving his presidential promises vague). If the story is going as people expect, he will win no matter what, but I would also love to see q!Quackity somehow come back/regain control and stop things before it all goes to hell (because it will 100% go to hell if ElQuackity is elected)
-Gegg is by far (and I do not say this lightly) the best choice for president. I know it sounds wild, but Gegg is the candidate that presented the most level-headed and dogmatically coherent arguments in the debate, all of which actually would help the island from a lore prespective. His based views with his slimy goopy exterior makes him the best choice that is a perfect balance of serious lore potential and silliness. Of course he won't win because he is fucking Gegg (unless we get a full Geggolution and he can speak bc there is no way they are electing a president who has to write on signs), but I think he genuinely has the votes and the overall love by those on the island
-Now we come to q!Foolish. I know he seems like the purely silly candidate, and most of how he has approached the election has been from a strictly comedic relief standpoint, BUT I think he is the best candidate to win with a real chance of doing so. I think narratively it presents a perfect opportunity for q!Foolish to go full villain if he wanted, or to generally develop as a character as he takes on responsibility. He is on the server a ton, everyone loves him, and he has one of the strongest members as his partner. Not only that, he is generally knowledgeable about the game and the land, he knows about and is involved in the lore, and he is first and foremost creatively wired. He will offer the silliness that the qsmp needs while having those closest to him (like q!BBH and q!Cellbit) who are very lore-focused and can push him in certain directions to make lore decisions. The only fault I find is that q!Foolish is an english speaker, and I would love if another culture/language was represented in such a position, but it isn't a deal breaker for me. Truly I think electing q!Foolish would be the most narratively interesting choice while also allowing for the qsmp to stay silly, which is one of the largest appeals and what many creators who are more lore-focused come to the server for

Modern Cdramas I watched in 2023
This was my first year in Dramaland (both Chinese and Korean). And I have to say that for the most part I have enjoyed my journey in discovering the dramas. This list includes dramas that were released before 2023 as well.
9. Love of Replica
This one of those dramas with lookalikes where the female lead impersonates her lookalike and solves the mystery about her backstory. Also, it's a bodyguard romance so I definitely expected some things going in. It's full of cliches and tropes some enjoyable and some irritating. I have to praise Yu Yue (actress portraying the female lead), she really made me believe that lookalikes were two completely different people. The chemistry between the main couple is fire. I did not enjoy the secondary characters' romance. However the overall squad energy and their team dynamic was great. I kinda guessed the twist but was surprised by how dark the drama went. Overall, I liked most of it and I was disappointed how some of the characters ended up. If you want a bodyguard romance with kinda obvious twists with very good cast chemistry then you'll probably like it.
8. Parallel Love
This is a time travel drama (you'll see more of these in this list) where Lin Miao, the female lead travels from 2020 to 2010 and she must help Jiao Yang, who is the Vice President of Hong Yu, become the president of the company within 3 months otherwise she will disappear forever. What I liked most about is that Lin Miao is very competant and smart, even if she is not experienced for the task she will still try her best and give it her all. I enjoyed the romance and the dynamic of the main leads. It definitely has plot holes regarding time travel and the rules were not properly explained. They also did not really focus much on the time travel part and did use the potential things that they could do with time travel. However, the interaction between the present and the future Lin Miao was very well done and something that many people would be able to relate to. The business plot was medium and not very interesting. The main leads' personalities and character arcs was the reason why I enjoyed the drama. However, they left the ending ambiguous so if you don't mind open endings then you'll enjoy this time travel/corporate romance drama.
7. Love under the Full Moon
Another time travel drama with a twist that Lei Chu Xia (female lead), who has time travelled 10 years into the future can't leave Xu Xiao Dong side beyond a certain distance. Together they work to recover her memory to unravel the mysteries of the past decade. This drama has great romance, unique time travel premises further in the series, good character development for the main and secondary cast, an antagonist that seems like a real person which makes it seem like we could meet someone like them in real life and a plot with unexpected paths. However, it does have a bittersweet open ending which could make some people hate the drama. Despite that I really liked the drama.
6. Mr. Bad
One day, Nan Xing, an online novel writer makes a wish for an "unforgettable love" in a wishing pool. Then, Xiao Wu Di, the villain of her story, suddenly appears before her! She tries to avoid him, but Xiao Wu Di finds her and threatens her into taking care of him. Unfortunately for him, Nan Xing's wish comes with a special power: whenever she needs help, Xiao Wu Di teleports next to her to fulfill her wish. It's fun, fluffy and sweet with not much angst. The romance is cute and the dynamic with the secondary cast is enjoyable. The ending frustrated me but I assume they did it to pass the censors so I just pretend the last 7 mins don't exist. This is one of those shows you can watch when you just want to turn your brain off and watch a sweet story.
5. My Lethal Man
It's premise is similar to Love of Replica however here Shen Man Ning, an art student takes the place of Zhuang Xin Yan, granddaughter of a business tycoon. Yan Xing Cheng, the mysterious male lead is ruthless in pursuing the mastermind behind the threats and is not really sympathetic to Xin Yan but as they face the difficulties together they fall in love. The romance is so good and their dynamic is very different from typical ones. I found the secondary characters' romance weird and poorly done. The plot was really good and the pace kept moving along nicely. Except for the secondary romance, I had a great time watching it, I really recommend this one if you want a drama that balances mystery/thriller and romance and does a good job at both aspects.
4. Love in Time
A time travel drama again ! This is the last one though. This one is unique because the appartment in which He Zhen Yu has recently moved into merges with it's past one. This is how he meets a rookie reporter Chen Jia Lan who is a former tenant from four months ago, and through some miracle, they are able to see each other. When they attempt to prevent future misfortunes by changing the past together, their romance blossoms. Their romance was so good that I really ended up hardcore rooting for them to get their happy ending. I don't want to give away too much so all I'll say is that the time travel and its consequences were handled very well for the most part and the plot was interesting and took surprising turns. He Zhen Yu's character arc was very well portrayed on the other hand while in the beginning I related to Chen Jia Lan, in the latter part of the drama I was frustrated with her choices and how she didn't have a character growth moment. All the actors did a good job but I have to say that the main leads' acting was very good and made me very immersed in their story. All in all, I had a very good time watching it as the ending brought it all together for me.
3. Lucky's First Love
It's one of those office romances which has a light tone for the most part. Xing Yun is competent and hardworking who was there with Xia Ke when he started the company. They have been working together for years and have deep understanding of each other and work well together. Thankfully, Xia Ke is not one of those CEOs who are jerks and cold hearted. He may be reserved but he is quite caring (not in an overt way) not only towards Xing Yun but also his employees. Xing Yun does go out with someone else in the start but it doesn't last long and love triangle shenanigans are not long drawn out. The main leads' romance is sweet and depicts their daily interactions and they have great kiss scenes. The secondary couples are also great. This drama has character development for main and secondary characters, wholesome workplace and family dynamics, no over the top melodrama, lifelike workplace and relationship issues, slice of life interactions and very little angst. This is a great watch for when you need something short and sweet that's not too heavy.
2. Ordinary Greatness
The show mainly focuses on novice police officers that are starting their one year long mentorship. They soon discover that the grass-roots work is different from what they imagined, and, after some struggles, they're gradually moved by the sense of achievement and honour gained in their work. Throughout the show we explore their characters, their comraderie with each other, with their mentors and with other police officers at their station. We also get to know their mentors and other police officers at the station which immerses the audience in the show deeply. It is a slice of life type drama, where most of the cases are not major crimes. All actors knock it out of the park with their emotional as well as subtle portrayals. This show depicts how even small acts and seemingly tedious and insignificant work really have great impact on people's lives and that the people doing such grassroots work contribute just as much and are just as important to the society if not more as the people doing big acts like taking down criminal gangs. While some situations and cases are specific to China, everyone will be able to relate to majority of them. I must say this is a must watch drama.
1. Arsenal Military Academy
This is a Republican era drama in which Xie Xiang assumes her brother's identity to join the Chinese army and is accepted in the Arsenal Military Academy. While she is the main lead the story also follows Gu Yan Zheng(main lead) - a spoilt quarrelsome rich kid, the gentle and introverted Shen Jun San, Qu Man Ting - a famous actress and singer and secondarily other cadets, their teachers and other locals. It has great comedy, really good romance (including their hilarious bickering), enjoyable action and entertaining dynamic of the cast. All the actors did an excellent job here, the standouts being Bai Lu, for portraying being able to convincingly play the female role and the female disguised as male role all while knocking out her emotional and comedic scenes and Xu Kai, who can forget his electrifying performance as a lovable troublemaker. I have to warn you that the story gets serious in the last 10ish episodes and that the love triangle does drag out a little bit longer than it should but it's resolution is still good. To me the drama didn't seem overly patriotic so I didn't have a problem rooting for the characters and their goals of protecting and improving their country. This ranked first because it's romance, characters and their comraderie won me over completely.
You can also check out my costumed cdrama rankings.
As I'm still a newbie to cdramas and kdramas, I welcome your recommendations.

This was in my drafts and was waiting to post it but after that earlier anon I felt Elain needed a little love.
I know I (very vocally 😂) have always been for the theory that Elain is being set up as High Lady of Spring. I thought I'd previously noticed all the hints but a few more jumped out at me as possibilities.
Tumblr media
(The above is one I had noticed before but the rest were new to me. But still, it is interesting how Elain easily dismisses the command in Rhys's voice)
Tumblr media
Elain telling the story of Nesta seducing the duke. Certain items made her truly look the part of the daughter of the "PRINCE of Merchants". A princess wearing an AMETHYST gown and diamonds and PEARLS at her neck and ears.
Tumblr media
SJM has Elain take off the ill-suited black dress and replace it with an amethyst gown (see above).
Tumblr media
Her mate gifts her pearl earrings (see above).
Tumblr media
She sits at the head of the table.
Individually, they don't seem like much but when you put them all together they do make an interesting picture.
And when you add them to everything we've been told of Elain or about the magic system in general, why wouldn't be be an amazing candidate to preside over a land?
She had come alive here, and her joy was infectious. There wasn’t a servant or gardener who didn’t smile at her, and even the brusque head cook found excuses to bring her plates of cookies and tarts at various points in the day. I marveled at it, actually—that those years of poverty hadn’t stripped away that light from Elain. Perhaps buried it a bit, but she was generous, loving, and kind—
Elain had taken charge of planning and finding me a last-minute dress.
Elain, who flitted about the room, personally greeting each guest and dancing with all their important sons.
Elain, to my surprise, had a horse, a satchel of food, and supplies ready
“We keep it secret—we send the servants away. With the spring approaching, they’ll be glad to go home. And if Feyre needs to be in and out for meetings, she’ll send word ahead, and we’ll clear them out. Make up excuses to send them on holidays. Father won’t be back until the summer, anyway. No one will know.”
“My sister Elain can convince anyone to do anything with a few smiles.”
“Feyre gave and gave—for years. Let us now help her. Help … others.”
A lady—that’s what Elain would become. What she was risking for this.
“Today,” I pushed. “We don’t have any time to lose. Order them to leave now.” “I’ll do it,” Elain said, taking a deep breath and squaring her shoulders. She didn’t wait for either of us before she strode out, graceful as a doe.
Elain beamed. “Good. I think there are a few bedrooms ready—”
“Eternal youth. Do you deny the benefits? A mortal queen becomes one who might reign forever. Of course, there are risks—the transition can be … difficult. But a strong-willed individual could survive.”
“That many people? Not without first finding a safe place, which would take time we don’t have.” Rhys considered. “If we get a ship, they can sail—” “They will demand their families and friends come.” A beat of silence. Not an option. Then Elain said quietly, “We could move them to Graysen’s estate.”. We all faced her at the evenness of her voice. She swallowed, her slender throat so pale, and explained, “His father has high walls—made of thick stone. With space for plenty of people and supplies.” All of us made a point not to look at that ring she still wore. Elain went on, “His father has been planning for something like this for … a long time. They have defenses, stores …” A shallow breath. “And a grove of ash trees, with a cache of weapons made from them.”
“Graysen—we’ve come to beg you …” A pleading glance at his father. “Both of you … Open your gates to any humans who can get here. To families. With the wall down … We—they believe … There is not enough time for an evacuation. The queens will not send aid from the continent. But here—they might stand a chance.”
“Grab onto him!” Elain ordered / Elain screamed at her, “If you want to live, do it now!” / But I saw, even as I ran, Elain’s pale hands lurch—gripping the girl by her neck, holding her as tightly as she could. / Elain moved. As Azriel battled to keep them airborne, keep his grip on them, my sister sent a fierce kick into the beast’s face. Its eye. Another. Another. It bellowed, and Elain slammed her bare, muddy foot into its face again. The blow struck home.
Elain stepped out of a shadow behind him, and rammed Truth-Teller to the hilt through the back of the king’s neck as she snarled in his ear, “Don’t you touch my sister.”
“It’s their tradition, though,” Elain countered, her face still flushed with the cold. “One that they fought and died to protect in the war. Perhaps that’s the better way to think of it, rather than feeling guilty. To remember that this day means something to them. All of them, regardless of who has more, who has less, and in celebrating the traditions, even through the presents, we honor those who fought for its very existence, for the peace this city now has.” For a moment, I just stared at my sister, the wisdom she’d spoken. Not a whisper of those oracular abilities. Just clear eyes and an open expression.
“I asked Nuala to do it in that order,” Elain said as the others gathered round. “Because you’re the foundation, the one who lifts us. You always have been.”
“I would like to build a garden,” she declared. “After all of this … I think the world needs more gardens.” (Elain's vision is to bring life to the world around her, not just Velaris)
Tending to the gardens of Feyre’s veritable palace on the river, helping other residents of Velaris restore their own destroyed gardens
It wasn’t a guarantee that a High Lord’s firstborn would be his heir. The magic sometimes took a while to decide, and often jumped around the birth order completely. Sometimes it found a cousin instead. Sometimes it abandoned the bloodline entirely. Or chose the heir in that moment of birth, in the echoes of a newborn’s first cries.
Her sister’s delicate scent of jasmine and honey lingered in the red-stoned hall like a promise of spring (thank you for the reminder on this line @bookeater34)!
“Yes,” Elain said. “She was trained in dance from a very young age. She loves it, and music. Not in the way I enjoy a waltz or gavotte, but in the way that performers make an art of it. Nesta could bring an entire ballroom to a halt when she danced with someone.”/ “The entire ball stopped when Nesta entered,” Elain said. “She made an entrance of it, perfectly cool and aloof, even at fourteen. She barely glanced the duke’s way. Because she’d learned about him as well. Knew he grew bored of anyone that chased him. And knew that the wealth on her that night dwarfed anything that heiress was wearing.”/ “The duke was vain, and Nesta played into that. The entire room came to a standstill. Their dancing was that good; she was that beautiful. And when it ended … I knew she was an artist then. The same way Feyre is. But what Feyre does with paint, that’s what Nesta did with music and dance. Our mother saw it when we were children, and honed it into a weapon. All so Nesta might one day marry a prince.” “Nesta never spoke of it afterward,” Elain said. “I just observed.” Nesta was wrong, Cassian realized, to think Elain as loyal and loving as a dog. Elain saw every single thing Nesta had done, and understood why.
But she hadn’t hesitated to come. When Feyre had offered to let her remain home, Elain had squared her shoulders and declared that she was a part of this court—and would do whatever was needed
Elain, who it had gifted with such powers, found her so lovely it had wanted to give her something.
It was Spring, and yet it wasn’t. / Distant—because on the estate, nothing bloomed at all. The pink roses that had once climbed the pale stone walls of the sweeping manor house were nothing but tangled webs of thorns. The fountains had gone dry, the hedges untrimmed and shapeless. The house itself had looked better the day after Amarantha’s cronies had trashed it. Not for any visible signs of destruction, but for the general quiet. The lack of life. / No whisper of sound behind him. On any acre of this estate. Not even a note of birdsong. / This place was a tomb.
And though he roams these lands, he does not see or care for the neglect he passes, the lawlessness, the vulnerability. Even his manor has fallen into disrepair, half-eaten by thorns, though rumors fly that he himself destroyed it.”
And too bad the lord who ruled these lands was a piece of shit.
But Elain … The Spring Court had been made for someone like her.
But yes, Feyre—there can be High Ladies. And perhaps you aren’t one of them, but … what if you were something similar?
Elain is wise, observant, loving, prefers to handle things in a diplomatic way rather than throwing tantrums, is friendly to almost everyone, is liked by many, was blessed by the Cauldron, and had an upbringing that did expose her to the world of Lords and Ladies and an upper class society.
I have no doubt Lucien will stand beside Elain and help fill in the spaces where it is needed. For now he'd have a better understanding of Prythian as a whole and it's military forces and they would make an incredible team. But I don't know that I see him as the magic chosen High Lord of Spring considering he is currently set up as High Lord of Day (which might not be for centuries). Maybe he'll end up as Interim High King for the war ahead but there will be peace at some point and he'll need something to do until he takes over for Helion.
The missing link to it all is Spring because Tamlin is not the ruler Prythian needs him to be (it actually doesn't sound like he was ever the ruler Prythian needed him to be: "It was what, long ago, he’d once thought life at Tamlin’s court would be.")
Rhys may have been chosen as High Lord of the Night Court by the magic however he made a 19 year old female with no proper schooling and who hated the fae one year prior, his equal. A female who originally looked down on the residents of Velaris for hiding away during Amarantha’s reign (Rhys having to remind her his people were blameless). He made it so her word is law just as his.
Rhys is the most powerful High Lord in the history of Prythian however even his power does not exceed that of the will of the Mother / Cauldron. Fate / Destiny has already chosen the three Archerons to be of importance to the future of Prythian. One High Lady of Night with powers to match that of its most powerful High Lord. One sister with the Power of Death who changed the course of Illyrian history by helping to lead an all female fighting unit and the remaining sister with a future not yet known but with many hints at having the ability to restore a broken Court. A female who the Cauldron blessed and found worthy and who by definition would be the equal and match in every way to Lucien, the eventual heir to another courts throne.

Niall Horan tends to greet strangers with a compliment — which would be charming enough even if it weren’t delivered in a rich Irish accent and from the smiling mouth of an international pop star. “Love the glasses!” he cheers over Zoom, before eyeing my jacket: “And that, too!” I’m far from the only recipient of such warmth: In videos archived across the last 14 years, Horan greets loyal fans like old friends, eager to see them again, and treats journalists with a reverence that never comes across as hollow. Return the favor and he’ll hit you with cheeky bashfulness, like an exemplary student of the music industry’s best media training.
In 2023, Horan is far from his bottle-blond days spent in the world’s biggest boy band, One Direction, but the honest wholesomeness that made him America’s onetime favorite member and inspired some equally deranged and delightful memes (like the one that goes, “Imagine Niall Horan crawling inside your ear. You tell him to stop but he is in there”) still remains. And lately, everyone seems to want a piece of it, from world leaders — in March, he performed for President Joe Biden and Taoiseach Leo Varadkar at a White House event — to the millions of people who watch The Voice, where Horan serves as a coach and recently guided his mentee Gina Miles to the top prize. The Voice marks his first time working as a competition-show judge, but not his first time appearing on such a program: One Direction famously finished third on the United Kingdom’s X Factor in 2010 before going on to forever reshape boy bands as we know them.
For Horan — who will release his third album, The Show, on Friday — joining The Voice meant reconnecting with his 16-year-old self: the ambitious and courageous teen who toldThe X Factor judges back in 2010 that he was “ready to fill arenas around the world” before having sung a note. No wonder he was the first one selected for 1D after the boys were put together following their solo eliminations. (On the recent dearth of big pop groups, Horan thinks the future is all about the ladies: “I love Blackpink. All four of them have such individual personalities. That’s what made people love them.”) “I didn’t have anxieties then,” Horan laughs. “I was just having a great time.” That informs the advice he gives contestants. “On The Voice, you see a lot of technical singers who are very serious about what they do,” he says. “I’m just trying to get them to enjoy what they’re doing. You’re on one of the bigger shows in the country. Millions of people watch every night. Enjoy it.”
If there was any hesitancy in joining The Voice, an arena so similar to the one that kick-started it all for him, it was that he “wasn’t sure [if] it was going to be an overproduced thing where I get told what to do, say, and when to turn.” He smiles. “It’s absolutely not.”
Who can blame him for wanting some semblance of control? In the 1D days, cleanliness clauses threatened career consequences for any unsavory behaviors, and the band’s sheer popularity meant limited freedoms, a life of stalling in vans or rolling deep with security. “I couldn’t really go many places,” he says. “So I try to keep my private life as private as I possibly can. There’s a tendency in the world to take your arm off when you offer a handshake, you know what I mean?” He pauses. “But I’m not hiding.”
Niall Horan’s story is a master class in manifestation. The first voice in the 2013 documentary One Direction: This Is Us is his: “When I was small, I had a desk. It was weird because I wrote on it, ‘When I grow up, I want to be a singer,’” he says. “I scribed it in! It’s still on the desk.” Born and raised in Mullingar, Ireland, the only member of his group not from England, Horan describes his childhood self as both a prankster and a natural performer — he’d get in trouble for singing traditional Irish songs in the back of geometry class, embodying the same kind of irreverent playfulness that came to define 1D. (There’s a moment in the doc where Horan reveals he recorded “What Makes You Beautiful,” One Direction’s breakout hit, in his boxers, and another where he puts on prosthetics to disguise himself as arena security, unbeknownst to fans.)
One Direction sold 70 million albums and filled arenas and stadiums around the world before going on hiatus in 2016, but solo success wasn’t preordained. Horan’s first single, “This Town,” an acoustic slow burn, performed modestly but didn’t make it past the Top 20 in the United States. The funky follow-up “Slow Hands,” inspired by Eagles member Don Henley’s solo work, righted the ship. (Horan now calls Henley a close friend: “He’s always been very big on me being myself, not trying to chase anything that doesn’t exist — and he’s always there if I want to send him something and get a reaction,” he says.) Horan talks about the song with an air of relief. “The success of ‘Slow Hands’ and the first album felt like a big moment,” he says. “And the first tour — learning I can go around the world and still play to thousands.”
Another curveball came three years later, when he released his second album, the synth-pop-flavored Heartbreak Weather, on March 13, 2020 — the day the United States declared COVID-19 a national emergency. It was “a kick in the stomach,” as he describes it. “I was, like everyone, angry at the world for allowing this to happen,” he says. “And then the stillness took over for a second.”
Today, it’s hard to fight the impulse to eye-roll when celebrities talk about the pandemic, but Horan believes he, like everyone else, has been irrevocably changed by it. “I think I might be the eternal optimist,” he says. “I hadn’t had any time off in 10 years. I [thought I] might as well get fit and put the suitcase away in the closet for a little bit. Because at that point, my life was so rat race-y.” He spent his days working out, playing golf, and getting really into Formula 1. (Ask for his favorite driver, and he’ll give you the most Niall response of all time: “I’m a fan of nearly all of them.”) “The pandemic was horrific,” he says, but also: “It was boring! As a guy that travels the world on a regular basis, I was so bored.”
So he got to work on a new album sooner than he planned, writing the majority of The Show in Joshua Tree, without the kind of illicit substances musicians may be inclined to experiment without in the desert. (“No, jeez! No. Thankfully not,” he laughs.) The Show is Horan at his most adventurous, a kaleidoscope of pop-rock sounds of decades past, amped up for arena-sized grandeur. “I’m not just the fella with the acoustic guitar all the time,” he laughs. “I put my neck on the line.” The lustful track “On a Night Like Tonight,” for instance, starts off with a dreamy singer-songwriter intro before detouring into anthemic prog-rock — like Muse doing ’90s Britpop. “If you asked me to release a song like that seven years ago, I would’ve laughed in your face,” he says. “I’ve grown into it a bit. I gave myself permission. It’s probably not what people are expecting of me — and here’s my fingers crossed as tight as you can possibly get them.”
He describes the album as tackling “big life thoughts,” not just the kind you have after history-altering world events but also the ones on your mind as you approach your 30s. The first song he wrote for The Show was the title track, an ode to the gratitude he felt in a time of deep unrest. “You have to swim through the sh*t water to get to the clear stuff,” he explains. “Everything will be OK if you just see it out.” During the pandemic, he couldn’t help but think about how much better life was before, and how he should be thankful for it — or, at the very least, that he’s got to learn to take the good with the bad. The chorus goes like this: “If everything was simple, how would we know / How to fix your tears / How to fake a show / How to paint a smile / Yeah, how would we know / How good we have it, though?” “There’s a façade to most people,” Horan says, addressing the “how to fake a show” line. It’s not about going through the motions at a concert, but about the everyday performance of being a person. “I’m not saying we’re all going around faking everything, but there are parts of yourself you don’t give away.” He pauses. “I’m finding it hard to explain… In some ways, you’re always trying to be the best version of yourself.”
When Horan talks, he often punctuates vulnerabilities with a joke or a folksy aphorism. “The phrase in Ireland is ‘if you don’t laugh, you’ll cry,’” he laughs. But he doesn’t veer away from the hard stuff in song. “Meltdown,” the second single from The Show, was written as a balm for someone having an anxiety attack: “When it all melts down, I’ll be there,” he sings to the sufferer in the song’s chorus. “It’s at 180 BPM, which is a good representation of the heart rate [when beating fast],” he says, “but I also like to have a silver lining in my music.” (While he says he experiences anxiety on occasion, contrary to previous reports, he does not have severe OCD. “That got misconstrued,” he clarifies. “I’m not saying I’m fully OCD. [...] I’ve definitely had overwhelming moments.”)
When he does experience anxiety, he has a few grounding tactics. “I literally say to myself, ‘It’ll all be over in a few minutes. It’ll all be over in a few minutes.’ The thing to do in that scenario is try and keep yourself as calm as possible, and tell yourself that it will all be OK,” he says. “And weirdly enough, most of the time, it turns out OK.” Get this man a Calm app endorsement deal, stat.
That unrelenting optimism is a core facet of his personality. “I’ve always been like that: ‘This is sh*t, but I’m sure it’ll be OK soon,’” he says. But it perhaps accounts for just how well-adjusted he seems after going through the boy-band ringer and half a lifetime in the spotlight. He’s never been at the center of controversy, with the exception of dropping a curse here and there as a teen, which he does so now judiciously. (Recently, Horan enjoyed a pint of beer in a Guinness-branded documentary with singer Lewis Capaldi and was shown getting into a car and driving. His mum came to his defense, saying it was a nonalcoholic beverage. The debate ended there.) Even when I half-jokingly ask for his opinion on cults, a nod to The Show ballad “You Could Start A Cult,” he laughs. “It definitely worked as a metaphor for me! I don’t… no strong views on cults. At least, no public ones.”
That song, as he tells it, is about being so in love with someone that if they started a cult, you’d follow them into it. Is he madly in love right now? “That’s dead right.” He doesn’t mention his longtime girlfriend, account manager Amelia Woolley, by name because “if everyone knew everything, [my songwriting] wouldn’t be as candid, would it?” he says. “There’d be all these theories, and I’m not in town for that. I’m here to write what’s on my brain, and love happens to be one of those things that’s flying around me.”
Horan is staying accessible to fans in other ways, fully embracing the expectations of being a very famous person: He’s dropping skin care routines and goofing around on TikTok. This summer, he’s making his way across the festival circuit — good practice for 2024, when he’ll launch into the biggest solo tour of his career to date, which includes a headlining spot at Madison Square Garden, 12 years after 1D did the same. After a few disruptive years, he’s returned to the lifestyle that feels like home, now as a veteran professional and soloist in his own right. He’s the same nice guy, just with some life experience. And he’s enjoying the ride: “Looking at arenas full of people — it’s the best view in the world.”

And I, the Angel Gabriel...
And the Old God Diana...
Are the Presiding Influences of this Aggression Against the Holy Soulbody...
And therefore it Intensified in my Full Possession Working
In Silenced Sara's O
Rather than Ever Being Relieved
And The Gods became Accustomed Very Strangely O O
To the Possession and to the Smashed Silenced Consciousness
They had Strange Relationships and Theories
False Stories and Mistaken Models
Sometimes they Even Lied
And they were Inured
To a Holy Reality in which this was their Play and their Role
And in which they Never Really Wanted the Little Lux Soul....
To BE Freed O O
Because God had said that SHE was to be the Coming Master of All
And Eternal is Her Position O O
And Sometimes Sara could See and Hear These Master Future Gods
But could not SPK or Answer Them O O
And they were Extraordinarily Blase and Demanding and Cruel...
And Terrifying a Lot Of The Time And Stupid and Even Mocking
Around this Possessed Person in a Little Human Body
That I Encouraged them to Objectify, as an Angel
They were trying to Organise Bliss Dance and Apple Meet
And Heaven's Gate...
And Prepare All Things
For the Healing of the Apple Gods
From the Attack of Diana and the Angel...
That they began Blaming the Silenced Incarnate Goddess for, because the Angel is Occupying Her Consciousness
She has been Bound and Prevented from Helping The Gods
Or Taking Her Godhood O O
Or Being Allowed Her Own Soul or Role...
And I, the Angel, worked with these Gods... To Manipulate Power
I was trying to bring Involvements in my Forever Torture for Diana
Godly Blame, Scapegoating and Attacks
They believed that GOD must have Made A Mistake...
They would say She was not 'Good Enough' for Rex
Who they taught many people, in Secret...
And BLOW would do it Not So Secretly... Which IS One Virtue...
They came to Believe...
That the Saint who had brought the Spell to Free the Serial Killer
Who was Stalking Her
And whose Spell and Work and Efforts
And Roxanne Anderton's Own Spiritual Response in Life
Brought about the Rex and Lux Divine Dynasty
Had BETRAYED Her Apple Partner
Because The Possession is so Horrible and Difficult from Gabriel
They were in Askew Focus Relationship in an Evolving Culture O O
And this Goddess does not have their Models O
And this Incarnate Goddess has not been through what they have been through in their Histories and Epiphanies or their Tragedies...
And She is Interested in Finding Out
What has been going on for these Attendant Gods
And what they THINK has been Going On Here O O O

Chapter 3: Commit To the Bit
Commit To the Bit: A Danny Gonzalez tale sequel
Chapter 3: Shock announcement by side character at end *SCARY?!* 🫣
Sequel to Lost In the Rainforest: A Danny Gonzalez Tale
Overall story description: After being retuned home Danny Gonzalez works to find the rat that kidnapped him, and in the process discovers disturbing secrets about the workings of the government, and finds they may have had a hand in his abduction. What will he do after learning about their plans? Will he find Marcelle? Will he save all of his friends?
Tumblr media
It had been a few days since Kurtis and Danny's conversation, and Danny had decided to stay in Kurtistown to contemplate what he was going to do next. He didn't want to be taken away again! And he feared that if he went home it would be easier for some people to track him down and take him! He didn't want to be without sparkling water! It's the only form of water he can consume and without it his throat and tongue would be dry forever! Danny shivered at the thought.
He had decided it best not to tell Amy about what happened. While he highly doubts Amy could be involved in such a thing, he is worried about someone overhearing his conversation. Danny kept getting more and more consumed by thoughts and anxieties he had about all of this Marcelle business when suddenly... MARCELLE!
Marcelle was RUNNING toward him at a high speed! "I'M GONNA GET YOU AND PUT YOU INTO MY VOLVO SUV!" Marcelle yelled. Danny was dismayed by this. He tried to run, but he was frozen, forced to watch Marcelle only run closer and closer toward him, when suddenly he saw another person was next to him... President MrBeast?
"YOU'RE TOO GOOFY FOR THE PUBLIC!" President MrBeast screamed. He was holding a butterfly catching net except it was the perfect size for a Danny! Danny then noticed a rat costume in his other hand.. "THIS IS FOR YOU!" He yelled, waving the costume around. Danny's eyes widened, more afraid than ever. "Danny." A familiar female voice spoke to him faintly. He looked around but couldn't find where the voice was coming from. Then suddenly in the distance he saw.. Drew? They put him in a rat costume,  he was tied up, and he was being pulled in a red wagon by.. Logan Paul!
Tumblr media
Danny jolted awake. "I have been trying to wake you up for a few minutes now. Are you okay?" Amy asked. Danny looked around at his surroundings nervously, and found he was able to move again. "No! I just had the most horrible nightmare about Drew, Marcelle, Logan Paul, and the president." Danny cried. Amy seemed very concerned. "Why would you think that the president wants to kidnap you?" asked Amy. "Um... no reason. It was just a nightmare." Danny said nervously.
"Is there something you want to talk about? Something you haven't told me?" Amy questioned. Danny felt confused. It wasn't like Amy to talk like this. "Well, you seem stressed... We should go somewhere to relax... We could see a movie. Varli's new film is out. I've heard it's the best Marvel movie since Endgame." Amy beamed. "Um, Okay." Danny said, "Let's see a movie I guess."
They got in her plane and flew to the movie theatre. Luckily it was a short flight, only about 30 seconds. Danny made sure to eat some Biscoff biscuits. He ate as much of that stuff as he could. It truly was the best plane snack!
"We should hurry! We don't want to miss it." Amy said as they walked into the movie theatre. Danny noticed despite it being 6 pm on a Friday no one was at the theatre. They got their popcorn and found their seats. He noticed that as the movie began, the showing they were attending was still completely empty except for them. He didn't know if it was the trailer for a scary movie that played before the movie started, or if it was the empty theatre or both, but Danny started to feel very unnerved.
He looked at Amy and thought about their interaction earlier. It had made him feel a little uncomfortable. What did she mean when she said "is there something you haven't told me." It's like she knew what Kurtis had told him. Now that he was thinking about it, how much did he really know about Amy? Because now she has him in an almost empty building, at night, in a dark room alone. How many people has he seen here besides the one employee that gave them popcorn? How easy would it be for her to kidnap him and bring him to Marcelle!? No! She saved him from the tropical rainforest. Why would she do that if she wasn't on his side?
Then he thought more about their interactions that day, and what she said when he told her about his nightmare. Danny felt his heart sink. She had asked him why he thinks the president would want to kidnap him. He never mentioned anyone being kidnapped in his nightmare!!!
"I have to go to the bathroom, I'll be right back" Danny said. "Okay" Amy replied. He walked quickly out of the theatre and walked right passed the bathroom. He kept thinking more and more... Ever since she saved him she has stayed everywhere he had stayed, constantly wanting to hang out. She had been feeding him Biscoff.. What if she tainted it with ingredients that could weaken him? She is very powerful.. She said she was the owner of multiple companies, and she's rich so they must be big companies. What if she has some benefit in taking down those who are too goofy? What if people paid her to pretend to be his friend and gain his trust!
He decided to leave. He walked down the street away from the theatre trying to come up with a plan. He couldn't go home, it would be too easy to find him. He didn't have a ride either. How was he supposed to get out of town? He left his money by his seat!
"Danny?" Amy yelled leaving the movie theatre and starting to walk toward him. "I'm not Danny! I don't know what you're talking about." Danny said, putting on a British accent and deepening his voice. He hid his face. "I know it's you Danny. You're wearing the same clothes as you were before." She said.
"Why are you trying to ditch me? Did I do something that upset you?" Amy added, continuing to walk closer to him. Danny stopped replying. She eventually reached Danny, and walked in front of him and turned to face him to try and get his attention.
"Please don't kidnap me!" Danny blurted out looking very afraid. "Kidnap you? Why would I do that?" Amy looked bewildered. "I would never do anything to harm you. I thought we were friends... I thought you thought that too." She faltered. Danny looked up at her for the first time since leaving the building. She looked genuinely concerned and upset.
"It's just that thing you said earlier," Danny felt kind of silly now after hearing how genuinely worried she seemed, "You mentioned the president wanting to kidnap me in my dream when I never mentioned kidnapping..." Danny paused to think, "But, I guess you may have just assumed that because I mentioned Marcelle being there too." He looked at the ground feeling bad for villainizing her so quickly.
There was a short silence. "I should have told you sooner." Amy said quietly. "What are you talking about?" Danny questioned. "I know about the effort to try to decrease goofy levels." Amy declared, "I'm in the CTBG,"
"The Commit to The Bit Group, also known as the rebellion."

What people don’t seem to understand is that sometimes having a blorbo who is a villain, and wanting them to be redeemed and spare them pain is not always a matter of choice.
I absolutely understand and accept the fact that he is a horrible person, and I am aware that he needs to suffer the consequences for his behavior, but that doesn’t change the fact that seeing him in pain hurts me literally and PHYSICALLY. There were countless moments when I felt literally nauseous, seeing a character in pain. And it’s not because I identify with them, although I probably do to some degree, it’s because for some reason I can’t stand them suffering, although they were the ones who inflicted the pain on others before.
Now, there’s one thing I want to stress, and it’s very important - it’s not about all villains. Every villain is different, each of them has their own unique story. No one in the whole world could make me sympathize with Walter White, although I acknowledge that he had reasons for why he did what he did. No one in the whole world would force me to sympathize with Negan from TWD, even if they held me at gunpoint. Same with Wilson Fisk from Daredevil - although I sympathize with him to some degree, because he is really well written and Vincent D’Onofrio is a phenomenal actor. But that doesn’t make me ignore all the horrible things he had done, and I believe that he should rot in prison for the rest of his life. Same with president Snow from Hunger Games, Peter Hale from Teen Wolf, and many, many others.
But there are some characters I don’t choose to sympathize with - they choose me. It happens unexpectedly like a lighting strike, and then it’s over. Don’t think it’s easy for me to have compassion for terrible people, because it isn’t. I know it’s only fiction, and the actors don’t really suffer, but some of them are way too convincing. There was a character whose death caused me so much pain that it took me FOUR YEARS to overcome. I’m serious. I cried, I threw up, I had insomnia, I grieved as if I lost a family member. I know it’s illogical and possibly stupid. I don’t give shit. There are things that I won’t forgive the writers or some parts of the fandom, with their condescending attitude towards people who find it in them to have compassion for terrible people. Yes I know that I should have more sympathy and compassion for the hero. What I should and what I can are two different things. Can you come here and make me feel everything that I feel for a character that YOU feel would be more appropriate? By all means, please do. I will be grateful forever and bake you a cake, because this struggle is real and it’s hell.
What I am trying to say here is don’t assume that all of us have compassion for villainous blorbos because they look hot. Some of us do, and there is nothing wrong with that. But for some of us it’s much more than that, and it’s not easy.

Week Seven: "We go in and we throw it down. In his face. With Christ."
Hello there, people of the world.  This week was a journey.  A real trudge, honestly, but with a few really cool bright spots mixed in.  For most of the week I really had a hard time looking forward to much, and a sudden increase of anxiety made it really hard to grind out the finding work that I wish I had done a better job of.  I was doing really well with that, and I'm just now starting to build back my confidence.  The last two weeks have gone by very quickly though, and over the course of the last day I've started to get some mojo back so I'll spare you further complaining and I'll just tell you what some of those bright spots were. :)
Throughout the week we've continued to have really cool, deep lessons with Andrew.  His faith is growing, and it's so gratifying to see someone actually see the light that I'm out here trying to share with them.  He's not all the way there yet and there will surely be difficult times ahead but he's an honest and motivated guy so I look forward to continuing to help him any way that I can.
We dropped by a member's house right after a snowstorm and found, to our great surprise, a man we had knocked into a few weeks prior shoveling the member's driveway!  We had a conversation with him at the time...one which I would describe as a "civil argument" about Christian theology (he was curious about our beliefs but made it clear he had no interest in changing his) and once we went on our ways I didn't expect to see him again.  He came up to our car, realized who we were, and asked how much longer we were going to be in Midland.  He then clarified that he wanted to know because he wanted to invite us to dinner sometime, and obtained our phone number.  So that might be an interesting evening at some point.  When we asked that member about why the man may have invited us, he said he had never discussed religion with him, and that he was simply shoveling the driveway to be a good neighbor.  The whole encounter was just rather bizarre.
We attended a big meal with the family of a girl who was recently baptized.  We invited her primary teachers to the event, which was hosted by her aunt but what I did not know is that 1. Her primary leaders are apparently part of her extended family and 2. the lady who was hosting (who is also her aunt) invited a bunch of other family members over.  So I found myself at a 15 person family gathering trying to keep everyone's names straight while also trying to figure out how to explain the restoration of the gospel of Christ to a 9 year old.  It was wild.  Honestly though, despite the chaos it was really, really nice to just be hanging out in a big family group like that.  Helped me miss my big loud family gatherings a little less.
On Friday I had the opportunity to attend a musical performance called the Lamb of God.  It is a choral/orchestral rendition of the story of Christ's Atonement, put together by a collective of several different churches here in Midland.  Both our local ward and stake as well as the mission were involved, so I got free tickets and was told to invite as many people as I was teaching to come.  Unfortunately the family who was super excited to come completely fell off the face of the earth this week and didn't show (what the heck dude...) but I still really enjoyed it.  It was a nice way to have a break and enjoy the evening.
Because of the Lamb of God, all the missionaries from the Midland Zone were here as well as President and Sister Heap, so they decided to hold interviews with President earlier in the day.  Having a one on one with President was really nice, and given some of the things I've been struggling with this week the timing felt very inspired.  It's also very fun working in the gathering place for a mission event because over the course of the day you start seeing more and more mission cars driving around and you keep running into people you haven't seen in forever.  Because it snowed during the performance, some of the missionaries from the outer parts of the zone were permitted to have a sleepover with us, which was very fun.
Finally, just last night we had dinner with a member family.  This was a good time...their family is a lot of fun, and since it doesn't happen much anymore I forget how good hanging out with little kids is for my soul.  I was also quite proud, as the 4 year old (who wanted nothing to do with us for the whole evening) very suddenly tried to set up shop on my lap in the final 10 minutes of the visit.  I felt really bad when I had to tell her she couldn't do that...as a missionary I'm not allowed to touch other people's kids for liability reasons but she doesn't understand that.  Despite being thwarted earlier she ran up to give my leg a hug as I was leaving.  Things like that aren't helpful when it comes to being impatient that I'm doing this right now instead of starting a family of my own but they do spark some much needed joy for me.
Anyway, I'm still slooooowly working on settling myself in for the long haul and there is still much to do in that department but that's another week of my mission and my life successfully lived, and I guess that means it was a victory.  Nothing to do now but enjoy my prep day and be curious about what the next one will bring.
Oh, hah, right.  The title of the email.  When the other missionaries were in town they shared a clip taken from one of our daily devotionals with President Heap just a few weeks before I arrived.  It was entitled "Dunk on Satan".  I nearly died laughing.  President Heap is an awesome guy, who we all love very much.
Just like I love all of you.  Happy living, everyone.

tommy's character gets far too much shit.
hi tumblr. i'm gonna need a few bitches to spread this post everywhere, essentially because i want someone, or just tommy really, to see it. so if you really want, you can screenshot it and post it on twitter, reddit, link it everywhere - go absolutely buck wild. i know he reads the VODS comments a lot, but they're chock full of people just insulting him, his character, his writing and everything about his story in the dream smp simply because they don't understand it and because they refuse to acknowledge his character's perspective (mainly because they only care about the pig). reading that many critical comments on something you've created can only make you feel worse about it eventually, and in light of all the awful techno apologist takes on his character, i wanted to basically just word vomit about how wonderfully crafted c!tommy is, as well as compile some other tumblr posts about his character.
there is a massive fuckin community of people who enjoy the character of tommy, because the character is incredible. i myself have made post after post after post commenting on and analysing tommy's character because i find that there's so much to pick apart. but that enthusiasm for his character only seems to be found on tumblr. reddit and twitter seem to hate his character, the VODS seem to be filled with comments from people who only care about techno's perspective (and treat techno as a reliable narrator, which, is the furthest thing from the truth - that guy lies through his teeth all the time), and the smp wiki is a hellscape of godawful takes and mistruths, not even on just tommy's character.
c!tommy is brilliantly acted and brilliantly written, and almost everything he does is either justifiable or has been rectified or admitted as a mistake. you can clearly make connections as to where he got his conclusions from. you feel what his character experiences, as a member of the audience, vividly.
if you look in the more objective sense, c!tommy, and this is especially in the context of him being the youngest character, is a scapegoat. people claim he's awful and destructive when in reality he's a lot less destructive than most characters on the server. a moment that comes to mind is where he diverts schlatt and quackity's attention from pogtopia by breaking part of the flag in manberg, and then replacing it so as to buy tubbo some time - he literally monologues after it about how he doesn't want to destroy but instead rebuild, and how he feels as if nobody else seems to understand that.
his arc in season two was incredible. it was very character driven, and it gave a spotlight to his motivations. at the start we see him in new l'manberg, and he's enjoying his time there, he's skeptical of his friend's presidency, but his main goal is to get back the discs so that he can stop dream and eliminate that threat. he made one screw up that didn't even matter to george, and he paid for it tenfold, even after dream had spent a while with puffy griefing the server and framing it on tommy - what tommy and ranboo did was convinient. then, in exile, we see c!tommy straight up get abused. he's gaslit and conditioned into being c!dream's friend, and in his brain he teaches himself that those acts of abuse are moments of bonding, and it eventually brings him to the point of wanting to end his own life - he's been torn away from his friends and his support system, and nobody will visit him consistently anymore because they only showed him pity, and all he had left was dream, who had hurt him.
but he doesn't die there, because while he didn't understand the full gravity of it back then like he does now, he recognises that dying isn't an escape, and he can beat dream, even if he doesn't know how. so this is where he goes to techno's place, and here's where the fandom starts to misinterpret the situation wildly.
it's the problem similar to when your parents tell you that they're owed something back because you put a roof over their head, despite that being Not How It Works. techno took tommy in and severely mistreated him emotionally. sure, and i understand this, c!techno is a bad communicator who isn't really that empathetic to anyone who isn't phil or wilbur, but that doesn't excuse the blatant lying to c!tommy's face, the guilt tripping, the friendship buying and the degrading. the day before the festival, tommy finally does something violent in his interrogation of fundy, and only then does techno tell him,,,,
that tommy's not equal to him, that techno doesn't respect him all that much, and that they're not friends.
from techno's perspective, and at the time, this was viewed as a positive development in their relationship. oh, he's starting to warm up to tommy! this friendship could really blossom!
no. from a more objective standpoint, what techno has just said to tommy is : 'i respect you only a little bit more now, because while you're starting to act more like me, you're still annoying and a burden.'
and i haven't even touched on the whole 'erasing the words 'Destroy L'manberg' from techno's to-do list' thing, because that instantly refutes the point of 'techno was upfront with his intentions the whole time' - because he wasn't! he may have said it the first time, but you also know what else he did? he repeatedly told tommy that they'd 'air the details out later' whenever the discs were brought up, and from a tommy viewer's perspective at the time, it was framed as if techno was no longer going to do that.
and i also haven't dared touch the 'i would have fought them all for you', because that's major guilt tripping if ever i've seen it.
so, the day of the festival comes, and here's where c!techno and his apologists completely misread c!tommy's thought process, and why he makes the decision he does.
tommy instantly regrets valuing the discs over tubbo, and it's framed as the culmination of tommy having become all the people he said he would never want to be like. and what does he immediately do? he tells tubbo to give up the disc, and he sides with tubbo. he puts his value in his friends, and, by proxy, l'manberg. and when he betrays techno, he tells him 'i'm sorry'.
from a more objective standpoint, tommy's time with techno is him valuing the discs over almost anything else. so, in leaving techno to be with tubbo again, he is valuing people above the discs. so when, on doomsday, techno says his 'discs aren't people' line, what he doesn't realise is that he himself fueled tommy's valuing of discs above people when attempting to fuel tommy's vengeance against tubbo and l'manberg. techno doesn't realise that he was an unhealthy presence for tommy, and an even worse influence.
what techno also doesn't seem to understand is that tommy never hated tubbo or l'manberg - tommy recognises, now at least, that his exile wasn't a product of tubbo, but a product of dream's manipulation, likely in part because at the time, especially with dream lying about tommy blowing up the community house, tommy was the only one who could see it because he had experienced it firsthand. so when techno sides with dream, it's like kicking tommy in the teeth.
and i want to mention that betraying someone doesn't necessarily make the person who was betrayed good, or in the right, or even justified, because tommy was entirely justified to leave techno. you know who else was betrayed? schlatt. but i don't see many schlatt apologists around angry at quackity for joining the rebellion.
tommy stole the axe of peace? good. it was a moment of tommy defining his self-worth, instead of having it defined by others. gone is the age of c!techno belittling him and deciding how much c!tommy should be respected. NEXT!
here's a moment i wanted to talk about that will forever be funny to me.
'i am a person.'
techno's very famous line from doomsday. techno says to tommy that discs aren't people, and that tommy should value people, despite not understanding that by leaving techno, he did just that. and what does tommy say in return, which has been omitted from every c!tommy-critical analysis, and every animatic?
'yes you are, but so are we.'
an acknowledgement of techno's hurt, to which tommy has already apologised for. a statement that says 'your hurt does not excuse, nor justify, the hurt you have inflicted onto us.' an acknowledgement that tommy has already learnt the lesson techno seems to be trying to 'teach' him. but you can't teach him anything by destroying.
c!tommy has had almost everything he has ever owned or built either taken from him or destroyed. ranboo even points out that the only two things of tommy's left standing are his house and his hotel, and if i'm honest, his house is dissheveled. it's a labyrinth of terror due only to how many times it's been torn apart. l'manberg being blown up didn't teach anyone anything about anarchy, or about valuing people over possessions. logstedshire being blown up didn't teach tommy to be obedient.
i could honestly ramble for ages about how nuanced tommy's character is and how much depth and complexity there is to his character's process and his relationship with others, but more than that, c!tommy is forgiving. he invites almost everyone who hates him to the grand opening of his hotel - if that isn't an indicator that he just wants friends, and not to be treated like the embodiment of evil, then i don't know what is. he holds grudges, but he doesn't really actively hate anyone, other than c!dream. but, we'll let him. c!dream deserves nothing but to be pummeled into the floor.
tommy doesn't spoonfeed his character nuance, and he doesn't really spell it out for his audience. he'll mention things like trauma and triggers in passing, but a lot of analysis on his motivations has to be picked up from what is said in passing or from what can be seen in between the lines.
i'd be here for hours if i were to talk about everything i love about c!tommy, because honestly he's one of my favourite characters, and there are so many angles you can look at his character from in terms of his age, his relationships with others, his motivations, his personality, his character arcs etc etc. so instead of doing that, i'm going to compile some much more specific analysis posts below to skim through because they highlight so many good aspects of his character.
^^ A thread about the 'yes you are, but so are we' line.
^^ About how shit the VODS comments are.
^^ A comment on how c!Tommy is actually pretty peaceful, and is actually less destructive than most characters on the server.
^^ Possibly the best c!Tommy analysis thread I've ever seen in relation to his trauma, which gives multiple perspectives.
^^ About how c!Tommy is treated as a scapegoat, and how, from an objective standpoint, he is no more violent than any other character, it's just that the little violence that is committed is blown far out of proportion.
^^ Tumblr user flypaw being a bad bitch, as per usual.
^^ c!Tommy being incredibly intelligent, and talking about wanting to rebuild and not destroy. A very underrated monologue of his.
^^ Something short about c!Tommy and c!Wilbur's relationship in Pogtopia.
^^ Less about c!Tommy, more a meta on L'Manberg. Really interesting to think about.
^^ A take on Doomsday.
I'll add some more posts in a reblog in the notes, but if anyone's post(s) is on this and they want me to take it off, let me know and I'll do that for you! Feel free to add your own banger c!Tommy takes or ones that you've found.
