Dragons of Black, Gold, and Crimson
Remember that poll I put out some time ago of whether or not I should draw a map of the Netherworld or draw the main trio as dragons?
Well :)
I'm putting the (apparently-very-difficult-to-make) map on the backburner and dove into this piece. It's been sitting around unfinished for too long and I finally got around to it.
I've wanted to draw the Pac trio as dragons for a while now, so this was quite fun! Some of the details in their designs might get tweaked, but overall very happy with how this turned out. I decided to give them their own dragon-sounding names too, each starting with the same letter that their original names started with.
So, meet Cevaali, Pavalon, and Soverik. Check below for individual close-ups and design info!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pac - Right off the bat I knew he was going to be a golden dragon. I wanted his horns to look extravagant but also fit with the golden theme, so I tried to make his horns kinda resemble fire. The final touch was making the horn/crest on his nose form the Pacman symbol, cuz why not :D
Spiral - He was the most difficult one to design, because I knew I wanted to give him spiraling/curly horns, but had a hard time making them look right. That, and blue and red are QUITE tricky to work with as a colour palette - they are naturally opposite colours, so certain hues can clash weirdly. Out of all the designs, Spiral's is the most likely one to get tweaked. But I am keeping the little "beard" spikes on his chin >:D
Cyli - I wanted something a bit different and overtly gothic for her design, something a bit more mysterious and spooky. So I made her all-black with just a few pink accents, BUT I also liked the idea of modeling her head to look skull-like. So, Dragon Cyli does not have any eyes or nostrils, just a blip of burning light in her eye sockets that acts as pupils. She can still see and smell clearly though because ✨dragon magic✨
All three of their dragon names don't mean anything in particular, I just came up with ones that sound draconic enough :) Here's how to pronounce them: Cevaali (Suh-vaa-lee), Pavalon (Path-a-lon), Soverik (Sov-er-rick, first five letters rhyme with sovereign).

Bumpy road, pretty result
Whoaaaa. This one...
The next fanfiction I bound was Cinder and Smoke by @thelittleblackfox. I lover their work to pieces. They write incredible thought out Stucky!AU's with a lot of fantasy aspects or really good scifi and I wanted badly to do one of their fics, but waited til I was a little happier with my results and could make a pretty cover. We decided together on this one and I started formatting... And then I stopped for a long while because Word is the devil.
Cinder & Smoke is a western!AU and just about the most romantic thing I've ever read. It has yearning and a little angst and a very distinct vibe that feels like Fernweh and wilderness and change. Go read it!
I worked on it between June and December 23 and Christmas was the only reason I finished it this quickly, but I did not want to leave it unfinished for the turn of the year.
Tumblr media
Sadly I don't have a lot of pictures, but when I'm finished with my copy I'll post some more.
Now we'll come to the journey it was to finish this!
It started out rather uncomplicated, because I thought I had gotten the hang of formatting and then, when I tried adjusting the font and overall look of the text body Word kept killing the italics. And I googled and tried and experimented and I just couldn't get it to stop. I was so frustrated, oh god. It put me off a little and I had to leave it for a while. When I came back around to it I found a slightly butchered solution, that works though so I won't question it. After that formatting went smoother and I was able to bind it. I used paper from that same supplier that fucked up my paper order for the covers from the notebooks. But only after I had it printed I noticed that it was cut crooked and wouldn't cleanly fold in half. I despaired a little, said fuck it and hoped it wouldn't be to noticeable. I think it's alright.
Tumblr media
Binding went really well and I think that's the cleanliest job I did to this date.
Tumblr media
Did the endbands by hand to match the color scheme I was aiming for. Because of the title I wanted to invoke fire and used primarily black and red for the coloring.
Then came the cover. First of all, don't use black bookcloth. You will see every. single. mistake. Also dust and glitter... I brushed this thing so often, you wouldn't believe it.
And I tried different vinyl. I couldn't find the right shade of red I wanted, it's a little hard to source it around here so I went an entirely different route and used golden glitter vinyl. What I didn't know until after I plotted the design: The glitter has texture. I couldn't see a single cut-line. I had to keep the picture open to work along the edges and not rip the letters. Still lost all of the i-points 😭
The flower was pretty easy though. Glueing it on was also quite hard because it just wouldn't hold and I got glitter everywhere. Which let to more brushing but I'm afraid mailing it destroyed all that work :D
Anyway. I am sooo happy with how it turned out I instantly forgot about all annoyances and was able to mail it before the end of the year and that was a really satisfying last project, so all is well :)
Tumblr media
This was also the first time I had the idea of choosing a little icon for the author's penname because most of the time I don't have enough space for the entire name. I reworked all of the other books to accomodate that.
Binding Details

making cookies with my love, i stir and mix! ft. xiao, albedo and kaveh!!
gn! reader
note :: not danganronpa or mystic messenger related but, genshin related (cause i'm ar59 who loves this game so much but is too scared to write for it)
alright. i'm very much in love with xiao, albedo and kaveh so this'll be about them!! also i literally JUST made chocolate chip cookies (i'll put a picture in a bit, they don't look TOO good though so don't get your hopes up 😭)
warnings! :: none, i think? oh right, might be ooc (most likely ooc but i'm doing my best TvT)
Tumblr media
albedo
baking is a bit similar to his experiments
you mix certain compounds together and then the results can change depending on what exactly it is you've mixed together
so he kind of has a basic gist of baking. it's similar to what he does but just edible
would gladly assist you in baking if ever you are and he has time
you can trust him with measurements and he's quite precise about them, not a single gram over or under everything is perfectly measured out
says that even a small miss up could alter the whole thing
you two are making a cake :D
he'll let you handle frosting whilst he can handle the batter! as for the design, both of you are in charge of that
you two get to work and things go by very smoothly, hence why you're not really surprised when the cake comes out smelling and looking really tasty from the oven
you both leave it to cool for a while before getting yo work on the exterior features
albedo is an artist, so that combined with having you there giving him a good amount of inspiration and motivation makes the cake turn out super well
he's a sweet tooth confirmed. he'd cut a slice out for you and feed it to you, happy to see the sparkly look in your eyes accompanied with a "this tastes great, bedo!"
would share some with the knights, and leave some for you guys to eat together
10/10 baking partner, very helpful and is just so!! skilled!!!
"i'm glad that you like it. i was a bit worried that i might have messed up somewhere. oh? you'd... like to feed me? well, i don't see a reason to refuse"
kaveh
he's... not the worst in the kitchen. he can cook a few meals, not a lot of great ones, but good enough ones. however cooking and baking are two different things, and is he good at baking? yeahhhh— no. nuh uh.
he is a wreck in the kitchen when baking. the place is messy, everything's all over the place, did he put sugar, or salt in the batter? oh great, start over. anddd there's an angry alhaitham complaining about the mess
so when it comes to baking, whether you're good at it or not (but for the sake of these headcanons you'll be a good baker), you'll have to take charge
gotta give him some credit though, he's a very enthusiastic helper! if you're handling the heavy lifting, aka actually doing the baking, he'll handle the clean up like washing the dishes, wiping the tables and equipment as well as putting things back in their places
he'll enjoy watching you whilst you work, looking at you with that sickeningly sweet lovestruck look in his eyes
he'll wrap his arms around your waist as you move all over the place, talking about anything that comes to mind or anything about what you're baking
you're making sugar cookies with royal icing btw just cause i said so
now he may not have been a huge help with the actual baking process, but he can lend assistance with the designing! he's quite careful with his handiwork (he's an architect) so you'll have no problems about him producing anything terrible
he'll look very focused when he starts icing the cookies, his tongue poking out between his lips as he carefully coats each cookie with an adequate amount of icing and starts styling
in the end you two have a plate of gorgeous sugar cookies that kaveh begrudgingly shares with alhaitham (cause you made him share)
would ask you how it tastes and use the same old "you have some icing on your lip" excuse to give you a kiss and then ask you again how it tastes
overall, wreck in the kitchen but does his best to help <3 cutie, i want him c6 c'mon hoyoverse give me a chance please
"mhmm mhm! these taste great, you did so well, love! huh? share these with him? could i not? ... fine."
xiao
he would have no clue what baking is
nor would he know how to bake
all he really eats is almond tofu so, it makes sense why he wouldn't really be interested in baking
until he spots you in the kitchen of wangshu inn making— mixing??
usually he'd just leave you alone but, even adepti can be curious every now and then right? so he carefully approaches you as to not disturb you
he sees batter, and you mixing it, before putting it down and turning around to see him
kind of embarrassed you saw him but he makes no move of leaving and only asks what you're up to, to which you reply you're baking :D
you'll need to explain to him what exactly baking is before anything else though cause he has no idea what that is
but once he knows he volunteers to help, albeit he has 0 idea what to do so he'll just let you tell him what it is you need him to do for you!
needs a bit (a lot) of guidance but in the end things go by rather smoothly
you guys made regular chocolate chip cookies cause those always taste yummy :)
as mentioned earlier, the only food he ever really eats is almond tofu, so it might take a bit of convincing to get him to try out the cookies you made together
but when he does try them after a lot of convincing, he's pleasantly surprised! it tastes really airy and chewy, has a light crisp on the outside, the chocolate is sweet but the salt balances it out to make not be unbearably sweet
overall he really likes the experience. baking with you feels quite domestic, and he may not know what exactly to do but with just the right amount of guidance he's a great partner in the kitchen
"this... tastes quite good. hm? would i consider eating more of this if you ever made more? ... perhaps"
Tumblr media
will i ever write for genshin again? i honestly don't know, but i'm willing to give it a try depending on how well this post will do sooo! likes and reblogs will be a THOUSAND percent appreciated <3! also i have like 5 drafts and i should really start on them soon hahaha
stay safe and healthy always, my stars!

um . could u give me the rain code pitch . i am still cursed with the dream specter and think i might need to play it to exorcise this
hi. so. this is going to be pretty long and slightly stream of consciousness, because i am always much worse about giving concise pitches than i think. i am also clicking my heels together in joy. its going to be very obvious that i love this game a lot... like. elevator pitch, i would give the game a solid, respectable 6/10 if ranking it purely in gameplay feel, overall execution, and the like. maybe edging closer to a 7 with its updates to performance since launch.
However, what is clear about raincode is that it as a 6 year long labor of love, and this endears me to it in the way that energy endears me to trigger happy havoc despite its flaws, its clunkiness, and its relative shortness. I would give it an easy 9/10 for the heights it strives for and the effort that went into the making of the world, the emotional resonance of the main characters, the story, the aesthetic. the psychic effects it has had on me, finally, cannot be measured. i need to find articles about gay bathouse culture for this game. thats not even a queer theme i think kodaka intentionally put in this game and trust me he puts stuff in intentionally, thats just one i keep thinking about. thats the headspace the game puts me in.
now,
THE (master detective archives/enigma archives) RAINCODE PITCH.
The danganronpa games, you know them. Kazutaka Kodaka, the writer of the games, you may or may not know that guy. I like his writing a lot since i got deeply into danganronpa in 2020. this is one of the only games i have preordered in years. He made a new game that's a 3-d mystery-adventure game. The soundtrack designer and character designer from those games are also here, and spitting.
Raincode is a mystery-adventure game set in a unique world with what are described as “psycho-noir” aesthetics, referencing the heightened fantasy of the setting’s visuals compared to the (already electric) DR.
You play as Yuma Kokohead, an amnesiac trainee detective sent (along with several other, far higher ranking detectives) to the autonomous zone ‘Kanai Ward’ to investigate its never ending rain, its complete isolation, and the corporation that controls it: Amaterasu Corporation, its faction of ‘peacekeepers’, and its systematic refusal to let investigations be done inside or out.
The bulk of the game IS this detective work, even when you’re not working on a case. The city has several districts (with very clear class associations) that you are free to walk around in, and it uses cyberpunk aesthetics in a way that’s very pleasing to me. Kinda think splatsville but neon, its that design of.. an area thats still maybe a little too polished for a city but it has a genuine eye to how a city actually tends to look and the ways people use it and exist in it. there are quite a few incidental npcs, and i think they work well to make the city feel alive. One of my favorite aspects of the game is the goal to present a multinational setting, with stuff like signage in latin alphabets, cyrillic, kanji, and the character’s names.
I could go on about the design for a while and i have more notes about it later just. The World Is Really Cool. you know what the master detectives are? Theyre detectives sanctioned by the World Detective organization, given the title of master because of their innate psychic abilities that have been honed into forensic and investigative tools. The reason the trainee detective Yuma is an amnesiac is probably because he made a pact with a death god that links them “body and soul”, for purposes he can no longer remember and she is unable or unwilling to tell him. This pact, however, gives him his own edge in investigating. Obviously the game is centered around solving murders, though in a less personal way than in DR. Also like and unlike DR, the way you are guided into solving these murders is through a series of minigames (in a pocket dimension that is the mystery given form (called a mystery labyrinth where the psychedelic design starts to come out crazy hard)) which are. The minigames are fine, i do generally enjoy the non-stop debates from danganronpa more, but theyre well-designed and fun. The mysteries themselves are Bangers, i made it a goal for myself to at least try to solve all of the main ones by myself to test if they were good mysteries where u were given all possible information to piece together, and i never felt cheated when i didnt get it exactly right. Again, it misses some of the intense personal connection you get with some of the murders in dr with it not happening in a closed cast, but i think that the story of them is done very well. Smiles.
And coming back to yuma, thats the other thing about this game. Danganronpa dealt heavily with exploring themes of student burnout, critiquing the justice system in specific areas like trial and (capital) punishment, etc with its characters, and where Raincode really shines in similar areas, but a little to the left.
If danganronpa was essentially about teenagers who really didn't have much to gain from the system but useless power over other teenagers and the costs of punishing deviance from norms, raincode is grappling with power structures where adults do have a lot to gain from upholding them, especially through the politics of information. Misinformation, hiding information, even the collection and use of info. Like DR, it also has a lot of very interesting things to say about ‘giftedness’ and the way it can alienate people, though again with a strong eye in considering people without these gifts, and/or people who do not have “average” abilities and how they have to navigate this world.
The themes are strong. I would argue the game is also edging into being about being disabled and the guilt of burdening or even just interacting others with characters like Yuma, Fubuki, and Pucci. Its really highly interesting and, thankfully Kodaka’s bottom-line touch is one of understanding. The duality of being othered by ability and othered by disability.
I think one of the things i like most about Raincode is its unflinching way it depicts the ebb and flow of our protagonists', Yuma and Shinigami’s, morals, goals, and convictions. It has a lot to say about what depending on other people means, the good and the bad of it, the ways you can be taken advantage of, and all of yuma’s relationships with the other characters showcase this heavily– how he feels about himself in relationship to them, what he wants them to feel about him, how they support him or use him. Its a game where, very plainly, you do not have all the information and are playing against sharks who will take every chance they get to puppet you around.
and what helps, obviously, is that yuma and shinigami are delightful protagonists to follow. their dynamic is written with a lot of care and nuance and is also just. really funny.
I clear my throat. Addendum. Some things to note, about this game. We have some one piece type shit in here. What i mean by that is I respect komatsuzaki as a character designer but he makes a lot of weird choices in character design that i am unable to really understand the reason for at times. Kodaka is not getting off the hook for the writing of the characters of color, but its unclear how much.. Direct correlation kodaka’s writing and the designs have. Wont get too much into it.
The other thing i mean by that is. Transmisogyny but i put a huge “EXCEPT-” sign up. One of the best chapters of the game centers the transmisogynistic plot device of two male characters having to disguise themselves as girls to investigate a murder in a girl’s school. I am not a trans woman, but what i will say in my perspective being familiar with this trope in even recent stuff like mob psycho is that like. The characters generally can and will say edgy, really rude shit but i personally feel the game takes the stance that theres nothing wrong with crossdressing, yknow? And also the pervert character is explicitly trans-positive. That helps. Its a thing that looks bad head on and makes the pitch kind of hard because obviously its not something one expects to be any better than it looks.
Also the game is almost fully voice acted with only some incidental interaction dialogue not being voiced. The english voice actors do a fantastic job, and from what i understand many of the japanese voice actors have a lot of love for the game too (i can't speak on their performances lol)
(also theres a lot of extra material for the game in the form of dlc stories and collectable story interactions in the main game. these are difficult to know the correct time to experience them and are a bit clunky in that way but are very worth looking up when the time is right)

Been a little while since I last answered some asks, so -- replies below the cut!
Tumblr media
Here ya go! Also tossed it in my sta.sh in case Tumblr crunches it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Aha, don't worry, Chris! You'll get to experience plenty of horrors soon that'll validate your weird dreams!
Tumblr media
All things considered, Chris is handling things pretty well right now, but I think he'd still accept a hug!
Tumblr media
I whipped out my extensive comic collection (four of The Adventure Zone graphic novels) to get some inspiration for this! Those books tend to have a pretty basic back cover with a couple of the main/supporting characters tossed onto it, and I can see something similar working for Purity Town considering how many NPCs there are overall in the game (even though the number we've actually seen in the comic up to this point is much lower)!
Tumblr media
:D Thanks for reading! I can't always manage to finish pages on time, but I do my best and I'm glad y'all're enjoying updates.
Tumblr media
My first experience learning about the whole Guide/WoF thing was...I think a Stampy Cat video years before I even knew what Terraria really was. I assumed it was the scary final boss of the game, and didn't think anything more on it for half a decade. And then 1.4 came along and I got incredibly attached to the character. That's just how it goes!
For what it's worth, I will make the disclaimer: while I find it interesting to push characters and write how they react as they crack, at the end of the day, I do write happy endings. And there's plenty of room for more happy one-shots in the AO3 fic!
Tumblr media
I kept the monsters in a sketch/low-detail/silhouetted style mostly to emphasize that Chris' dreams were strange and imprecise, but it was still cool to play around with monster designs a bit! Translating designs from the game version to comic characters can be weird because you need to account for the game expecting you to always see them from a particular angle -- the Wall of Flesh is the most extreme/obvious example of this. When we get to seeing more of Plantera proper I'll definitely have to brush up on my flower-drawing skills, haha.
Tumblr media
I haven't actually built it out in a Terraria world proper! The world used in the blog header is a screenshot from the world I first beat the game in.
As far as a general description goes, the main town is located in a forest biome with the snowy-mountains-and-lake background. In the main area of town is the tavern and the nurse's clinic, plus the (now abandoned) clothier's store. Andrew also lives in the forest town, though slightly up-hill from it, so that he has to walk through some trees before he gets into the town square itself.
For the most part I imagine characters living in the biome they prefer in-game (with exceptions for those who like the Hallow), though the bulk of folks live in the Purity Town. The settlements in the other biomes are smaller, since having the pylons means you can go wherever you need to go for business quite easily.
Tumblr media
Thanks! Terraria has some crazy lore once you start digging into it -- I think it'd be really cool to see "Zullie the Witch"-style lore deep dives just going ham on the minutiae of NPC interactions and Bestiary entries.
But in any case, getting to take all of that and work it into the comic here and there is good fun :D
Tumblr media
Thank you!! I had a lot of fun with this chapter's cover, especially with the lighting and the border around the top. The Aether/shimmer stuff and the more glowy critters like faelings and prismatic lacewings are just such a delight to draw, haha.

20 Questions for Fic Writers!
Tagged by @suspendingtime :D
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
51 (with more on LJ and ff.net that I hope will perish before anyone finds them 😆)
2. What’s your total AO3 word count?
143,311
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently just Bridgerton because the heart wants what it wants.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Unsurprisingly all Bridgerton:
Every farthing of the cost shall be paid (but from this night not a kiss or look be lost)
Cream Filling (Explicit)
I am my beloved's (and my beloved is mine) (Explicit)
Ordained in the worship of you (Explicit)
The Aim of Waking is to Dream (Explicit)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yeah, I'm from old school fandom where kudos didn't exist and we just..had conversations in comments about the writing, about the fic, about characterisation. Fic is my offering to fandom and I'm always looking to find community through it. I love love love hearing what people think and nothing is quite as much fun to me as some of the conversations I've been lucky enough to see in my comment threads.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I write a lot of angst. I'm in fandom for the angst! There's nothing quite like exploring the emotional agony of something when the audience already knows the resolution.
Overall, I think it might be this dark Beauty and the Beast (Disney) fic: In the mirror (gen).
For Bridgerton, god, it's a toss up between:
My hope was written on sand (AU where Anthony and Edwina get married);
Sweet and bitter love (Simon/Anthony with internalised homophobia); and
Malebolge (Anthony treats women as playthings and Kate treats herself as disposable for her family.)
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Probably To be young and in love, though my fics aren't usually unhappy (the ones above notwithstanding), just angsty.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Only from troglodytes. I ignore and block them.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Ha, a lot. It varies from sweet and emotional to graphic but it's always written with characters in mind. Sex and emotions, we can have it all!
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I wrote a Gen Kill/SG-1 crossover because Space Marines!! (jazz hands): The Five Stages of Joining the Stargate Program (Gen).
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
No, thankfully. Have had some (unintended?) plagiarism of scene and detail, but that's easily solved by crediting/referencing so as long as that happens I'm happy!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No, but I have blanket approval for it on my AO3 profile and would be honoured.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
No, not yet.
14. What’s your all-time favourite ship?
Every ship I've ever had has felt like the all-time fave 😂
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Ahahah, a Moonlight fic that will definitely never be finished. I'm still working on the Bridgerton WIPs.
16. What are your writing strengths?
My writing will always be true to at least some kernel of the canon characters otherwise what's the point (to me).
I think a lot about what goes into my fic. If something looks clever in my fic, 90% of the time that is by design. I have a good ear for scansion and style, and you'll see that change deliberately across fic. I am apparently good at dirty talk?
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
So. Many. In short, I can only write what I'm interested in writing. I am terrible at plot and fleshing out rich universes. I can lose motivation before I finish writing said plot. I've been told I write dense fic that's not easy reading so I think I'm bad at reading an audience. I think I don't have anything new to say, just new ways to say something you may have read before.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I've used endearments from my cultural background. If I need to use phrases I google for colloquial usage rather than google translate.
One of my absolute favourite fics ever is bilingual Mary Poppins and truly astoundingly good: Promise of the (Purvai) by dhobi ki kutti
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Moonlight - a single season TV show and by god was that fandom a wanky one.
20. Favourite fic you’ve written?
Swollen (I managed to do a lot that I love in this fic: style, emotional depth, play on colour/texture/time, and kink.)
--
Bonus: Favourite fic you haven't written?
all the bright things because it is astoundingly good writing. And also The Thirteen Letters for MCU Steve/Bucky because it redefined love in writing for me. (How long have I loved you? Womb to tomb, sweetheart.)

WIPs from June 27th and March 12th, 2023 I'm in one of those mind states where it takes me literal hours to make myself upload my WIPs, even though that's the entire point of this side blog :') Not that I dislike these, rather I received some bad (but unrelated) news today/yesterday and that always ramps up my insomnia. I'm up WAY too late again and my mood has been awful all day, so this was inevitable
It's been a while since I uploaded a completely new design for Starglass Zodiac (as in a completely new character rather than just a redesign of an already made one) and I'm not entirely sure why. Like the last one was over a year ago??? I still have way more to do so I'm not sure why I stopped for a while, even when I was still doing art for this project rather than switching to another. I have a massive folder of WIPs still so maybe I got decision paralysis or something, idk. These are far from done but I did come up with some cool new scenes with them so that's neat!
The less specific or more basic constellations are usually the most fun but also the most challenging to tackle, because it can be hard to make the concepts interesting if there's no pre-existing mythology associated with them, which is the case for both of these and many others. A lot of the constellations, even among the official 88 modern ones, boil down to an astronomer somewhere being like "put a [thing] in the sky" without anymore specificity or reason. Custos Messium is a defunct constellation to boot, but the idea of a "harvest keeper" gives me a lot of cool visuals to work with at least. I'm particularly proud of their sickle and scythe arms that form a C and M, respectively. Plus with the defunct constellations I get to design their symbols :D Not super happy with the bodies for either of these yet, but I like their heads so that's a good start. Horologium is inspired by those awesome looking astral clock towers with multiple faces, but with that in mind I want to make its body more tower-like. In the story, it's the constellation of the clock that was given artificial life after being lost and corrupted by void magic, so I want it to look like the pieces of the tower itself got transformed into this hulking beast over time. Overall I just want to have more non-sapient creatures inhabiting this world for variety's sake and to create bigger threats for the cast as stuff ramps up in later chapters. Defeating Horologium in particular is going to be quite the feat, but I am excited to finish writing/drawing that part of the comic at least!

(yet another artist friend who is gonna have to deal with SOO MANY QUESTIONS haha, sorry not sorry, I AM ENDLESSLY CURIOUS AND MUST KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT MY ARTIST FRIENDS AND THEIR PROCESS AND SUCH! 🎊🎊🎊
PLS DON'T APOLOGISE, ASKS MAKE ME V HAPPY INDEEDY! 🥰☺️
This is much more… ex-art student orientated than character design/TSC/CS/ML orientated, I'm sorry! But it was quite nice to reflect on my uni degree and the body of work that I produced during that period of my life!
To make up for it, however, here are a couple of doods :D — a rather surly-looking Jack (wip; you can just about see Lucy in there too) and an adult!Fiera! (I need to update her design, this is just a prototype!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Art programs you have but don’t use. Adobe Illustrator! I learnt to use it at uni (I studied Illustration and Design) but am much more disposed to Photoshop and Procreate.
A medium of art you don't work in but appreciate. Like a physical medium? Hmm… I’m going to say pastels. There are very few mediums I don’t work in (when I’m actually producing art, that is, lmao). I love oils, acrylics, charcoals. Pretty much everything. But pastels… I’ve never really taken the time to get to know them. Maybe I should!
What's an old project idea that you've lost interest in? During my final year of uni I wrote and illustrated my own children’s book. I am, to this day, quite proud of it and hope to one day finalise the illos. …Maybe. Possibly. I wouldn’t therefore say that I’ve “lost interest” in it, necessarily, but it’s certainly fallen to the wayside (it has after all been four years).
A creator who you admire but whose work isn’t your thing. This is very tricky bc I’m hard pressed to think of any creators whose work isn’t “my thing”. If it’s artsy then I’m gonna enjoy it, no matter what! With that in mind (and if it’s okay?) I may have to amend this to, “a creator who you admire but whose work you could never emulate”, and that creator is Georgia Lowe (@georgialowpapercuts on insta). She makes the most sublime paper cut outs — stunningly intricate, extraordinarily delicate! I adore them! I’m not sure I could ever have the patience to make something that time-consuming.
*Where* do you draw (don't drop your ip address this just means do you doodle at a park or smth). In my flat. Typically while sitting (pretzel-like) on my sofa. I’m very boring! Although I have been known to take a sketchbook to the V&A or the Tate Britain, every once in awhile. Or on a walk around Hyde. It’s not a common occurrence, though. I don’t like to draw in public spaces lest someone ask to see what I’m working on! I’m extraordinarily shy about my work.
An estimate of how many art supplies you’ve broken. Countless, lmao. I am a clumsy bean and shit happens. The most frustrating was when I tore a newly bought canvas. A very big canvas at that. Oh and when I dropped a bag full of chalks and charcoals — makes them so much harder to use! I also snapped a paintbrush once, because I didn’t realise how badly I was bending it while pouring over an exam piece.
Something your art has been compared to that you were NOT inspired by. One of my editorial pieces was once likened to Escher's work, which — while enormously flattering — had not been my intention!
What piece of yours do you think is underrated. Looking back, there are several pieces I submitted as part of my overall body of coursework which I deeply disliked at the time (having been staring at them for months) but am now fairly fond of! One charcoal image of a horse, in particular, springeth to mind.

Initially I was gonna talk about this in my fandom list post, but figured it needs its own separate post because it's a doozy.
Tumblr media
Have you heard of Mortasheen? Now you have! The official website is here, but if you're short on time I'll give you a rundown. Think D&D plus Pokémon, but with wacky mutant monsters and way fewer rules. It's an open-ended RPG with endless possibilities. Take your squad of weirdos across a surprisingly ecologically diverse world in the distant future, and try not to die while doing it. (No pressure, though; if you die you can just come back as a zombie, although there are some downsides to that...)
Tumblr media
And now for a summary of each monster class!
Bioconstructs: The absolute base class of monsters, this is a broad category encompassing man-made abominations that don't fit into the more specific man-made classes. Just about every function you can think of is covered here— it's got fighters, sentries, laborers, livestock, entertainers— you name it, there's probably a Bioconstruct for it.
Arthropoids: Bug people!!! Possibly the best class overall, everyone else go home. But yeah, it's exactly what it sounds like. This specific category of man-made monsters consists of arthropods (and sometimes panarthropods) combined with human genetics, resulting in some versatile and badass creatures.
Vampirics: Ah, our first class not spawned by human shenanigans! These ancient abyssal assassins have risen up to stake their claim on our world, and they're not nice. But who knows, maybe you'll get one on your side?
Botanicals: These odd organisms of man-made origin are mixes of plant, fungus, and animal. Their unique physiology makes them quite resilient to physical damage, but be sure to keep them away from fire.
Ectosaurs: Powerful ghostly entities of uncertain origin. Most of them will only see you as prey, but if you play your cards right, they can make great allies.
Zombiespawn: Remember those zombies I mentioned? Sometimes they try to make babies, and usually that doesn't go too well, and we get these gross things as a result. What else would you expect from a barely-functioning body in a state of perpetual decay and regrowth?
Jokers: Despite not having man-made origins, these guys have a conspicuous resemblance to our idea of clowns and related goofy concepts. Oh, I'm sure it's just a coincidence... still, these gas-filled tricksters are a force to be reckoned with! It's better to have them as allies than enemies.
Unknown: Hey, where did these come from??? Nobody really knows, but they're strange and often dangerous. Watch your back.
Devilbirds: Ancient relics modeled after common human vices. Personally one of my least favorite classes due to (in my opinion) a lackluster execution of an interesting concept. Eh, they can't all be winners. In any case, don't get your hopes up for recruiting one of these monstrosities; most of them are pretty heartless!
Biomecha: Plain old Bioconstructs are sooooo last millenia... combining flesh with machinery is where it's at! That's what some monster trainers are saying, anyway. Time will tell if they're right.
Wormbrains: Now, this one is my actual least favorite class. It's just flesh puppets controlled by brain flukes. Credit where credit is due, the designs of some of these monsters are really cool (there's even some Junji Ito references in there)! I'm just not a fan of the concept.
Fectoids: These neat little guys are the ultimate bioweapons, able to shift between multicellular monster and microscopic swarm, taking on whichever state best suits the situation. It's fascinating! Hard to appreciate the ingenuity when you're being infected, though.
and last but not least...
Garbage: Well, some people would say they're the least, but I for one have a special place in my heart for these children of pollution and experiments-gone-wrong. We don't have mistakes, just happy accidents! Besides, this class holds perhaps my favorite Mortasheen monster of all time...
Tumblr media
the Agblap! Lookit this little guy!!! Ain't it just the cutest thing?
Now that you're familiar with the basics, why not take a look at the website and see which monsters are your favorites? You can also check out the creator's main website for all kinds of interesting content! I don't know how to wrap up this post lol bye

WxS Hatsune Miku!!
Tumblr media
Sculptor: N/A
Paintwork: N/A
~21cm tall
Manufacturer:  SEGA
Material: PVC, ABS
Release Date:  April 2022
Original Price: ~27$ (estimate)
A far too long post about this Hatsune Miku figure lol (under the cut)
I got this figure off Amazon from a second hand seller. I bought her with a gift card I got over the holidays so very technically I got her for free! :D Honestly, because of the price I wasn’t expecting much from the figure beyond “cool Hatsune Miku,” and the expectation that her pigtails might fall out (mentioned a lot in the reviews).
I only recently got into Vocaloid beyond the classic songs you’d hear all over the place on youtube in 2012, mostly because of Project Sekai, but also because I live with my brother, who has been obsessed with Vocaloid since he was 10, so they encouraged me to get fully invested.
In general though a lot of Miku figures are super cute, so I’ve always thought about buying one but couldn’t justify it. Until now that is!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The figure’s really cute overall! I love the pose and expression, they translated her design pretty well into figure (though the patterns on her skirt(?) under her dress aren’t there and are instead blocks of color, which is a small thing so it’s fine). The figure came in separate parts, which included her left arm, the bow on her dress, her tail, and her two pigtails.
Tumblr media
As I said before, the reviews on the amazon page I got her from mentioned the pigtails would fall out. “Surely they mean when you move her,” I naively thought. But no the pigtails unfortunately are very prone to falling out, due to how shallow the supports are; there’s just not enough to hold them steadily in place, especially against gravity. Her bow also falls out A Lot, because of the same reason but a little more extreme.
My solution to that isn’t exactly great, as if you are in the habit of keeping figures in mint condition while on display, this damages that quit a bit, however I found that using very small balls of sticky tack to secure the removable pieces helps to stabilize them for display (I used small pieces of a kneaded eraser because that’s what I have laying around lol).
Final Thoughts
I’m really happy with her! I think she’s super cute, and I’m glad she’s my first miku figure! Despite the problems with some pieces falling out lol.
Do I recommend this figure?
Yes definitely! I think it’s super good for the price point and who doesn’t want a fun Miku figure?
Where to buy (02/01/2023):
The amazon page I bought from (35.99$)
Big Bad Toy Store(26.99$)
Crunchyroll store (26.99$)
Thanks for reading!

I'm curious, why do hypmic fans hate the anime adaptation? Is it bad or something messed up? Oh, I also hope pararai anime done well :"D
hello vanie! if i’m honest, i (somewhat) enjoyed the hypmic anime more than i disliked it, but i truly believe that’s my bias talking! (lol) i was really happy to see my faves moving and grooving, but i personally did not like the different plot points/story of the adaption nor did i appreciate the new side characters added while the newer groups (bat and dh) were just…not there? the pacing was also a little odd at times…
i think a major complaint of the anime was of how much it deviated from the source material (manga/voice dramas) despite the fact that hypmic’s intro to their canon story is pretty solid/well written for what it’s worth, so it didn’t really add anything new to the lore in itself. also, some of the characterizations are a teensy bit off, but overall, it’s just a silly little show to watch as a longtime fan lol?? it feels as though they’re attempting to cater to a completely new audience of fans, but at the same time, are trying to keep up with familiar lore that older fans are well aware of. hence, the sporadic pacing.
all in all, i did enjoy hypmic’s adaptation, but like all fans, wished it was done better and perhaps with a little more care. personally, i give it a huge pass as it was done during earlier covid times, so it suffered from the restrictions going on worldwide. i definitely think the animation is awesome given that reason though! really love the visuals and everyone’s overall design, and i really hope to see the newer characters added in another season if anything.
i also really hope paralive’s anime does less of this and sticks to its roots!! their manga seems to be doing quite excellent at this, so i hope their anime is similar in that respect. i’ll love these animated boys either way though, haha.

A Nobody's Big Dumb Review of Tears of the Kingdom
Missing korok seeds but yeah no I'm not getting all of those. Other than that, 100%'d TotK finally after over a month
Overall it's… interesting. It's got some high highs and low lows.
Sky islands were kind of a mess for me. They could be a pain to navigate--the best ways usually just being another Wing with fans attached or rockets on the square platforms--and most of them didn't feel very distinct from each other with the exception of the Great Sky Island that served as a really nice tutorial area for the game, better than the Great Plateau even. But yeah the Great Sky Island is definitely the peak as far as the sky islands go, as the name suggests. Flux Constructs are neat, though.
The Depths were alright. The mechanics could be interesting and I appreciate how they incorporate vehicle gameplay better than the sky islands did, but again they often could feel like a pain to navigate. Combat down here is neat as the Gloom enemies pose a bigger threat than enemies in the outer world, and the Yiga stuff was really charming and I always liked coming across them. Master Kohga especially made me happy whenever I encountered him.
One of my big worries about the game was the reusing of the same world from Breath of the Wild with minor adjustments, and… yeah, that's still a complaint for me, especially when compared to the other 3D sequel Majora's Mask. While the towns themselves definitely got the biggest changes and the musical, visual, and story progression they have is quite nice, the vast majority is the exact same but with enemy camps sprinkled in different places. After about five hours or so I stopped wanting to explore every nook and cranny and instead focused on the shrines and quests.
Obviously the big inclusion to the open world were the caves and wells, but I didn't feel like they added a huge amount overall. There are some exceptions--Death Mountain and the Gerudo Desert have some pretty interesting designs--but the large majority of them are just tunnels filled with minerals to mine and, far worse, tedious rock walls to dig through that annihilate your weapon durability or bomb count. Or you can use Yunobo's ability and--again, tediously--wait on his cooldown each time. Overall I don't think they're nearly as good content as the caves and catacombs you find in Elden Ring though (prepare for lots of comparisons as far as open world design btw).
Shrines were definitely improved from BotW, I feel. In BotW, I often knew the puzzle pretty quickly and yet could often be completely shut down trying to accomplish the puzzle due to awful motion control elements (Which were thankfully completely removed from the equation as far as shrines go, though it still exists as an option for aiming arrows and the camera feature). In TotK, most of the time I'm trying to find the solution itself, and once I find it out, executing it comes pretty fast. The Eventide Island mechanic of stripping you bare and making you deal with bare bones equipment against an enemy stronghold were always pretty fun. STILL, the predictable rewards (another piece of heart/stamina vessel piece) and fewer ways to ACCESS the shrines via quests, and often the ones utilizing escorting a crystal back to the shrine being tedious, still left them less fun and interesting to me than Elden Ring dungeons with their wholly unique loot rewards and layouts, and with a boss at the end of every one (even if some were re-used!).
Speaking of dungeons, they finally brought back actual dungeons! And… well, they're a bit better than Divine Beasts, at least? I had a great time with the Wind and Lightning Temples, an okay time with the Spirit and Water temples, and just a downright bad time with the Fire Temple (which you can just completely break with Ascend, but not in a fun way). The bosses could range from good to great, but I don't think any of the big bosses were actually bad, so that's a good thing. They all incorporate the Sage abilities really well. As a whole, however, I do miss the classic Zelda dungeon designs, and as far as open world games go, I enjoyed Elden Ring's legacy dungeons quite a lot more, especially with their unique loot and even more climactic and memorable bosses.
Speaking of Sages (transitions!), these were a really mixed bag. Yunobo and Tulin stand out as really useful in the open world, with Sidon unfortunately being quite useless and I just had him dismissed 99% of the time. Riju, too, just took way too much time to prepare her skill for too little reward. There's a fifth sage who was the most useful in combat, at least, and having a big robot with you is at least a cool thing. For the most part I just had Tulin and the Fifth Sage out 99% of the time, bringing Yunobo out whenever I went into caves with breakable rocks, and Riju + Sidon just gone almost always. Also, I really dislike how you activate their abilities by pressing A on them which led to either constant accidental activations (Tulin plz stop blowing my spoils around) or me having to chase them down or wondering where the hell Yunobo went on a vacation to in the caves.
The story was a mixed bag. The four dungeons focusing on the different clans of Hyrule could get REALLY boring, and is essentially the same story beat (and even the same dialogue and cutscenes) repeated three times. I really didn't need to hear "Sacred Stone? Demon King?" and "So that was the Imprisoning War…" four times. You do one, you do them all, with the only big differences being what mini-calamity befell each region and how you get into the temple to solve it. For what it's worth, I liked the Zora & Gerudo pre-dungeon stuff quite a bit, but the other two were pretty boring. Once you complete these four regional steps, however, the story actually gets pretty interesting, with a return to Hyrule Castle (in a worse state than BotW's so it felt quite different in a good way), a ruins-delving adventure in search of particular answers, and a genuinely great climactic showdown with Ganondorf at the end of the game that definitely surpasses Calamity Ganon. The memories, too, were pretty good just like in BotW, and they didn't entirely replace the overall narratives like they mostly did in BotW.
There's some more I didn't touch, but nothing that would affect how I feel about the game--a lot of it is indeed just busywork with some interesting tidbits here and there. I liked Lookout Landing, Tarrey Town, Hateno, and Lurelin Village; the Lucky Clover Gazette quests were alright; Purah is waifu of the two months she'll be in people's heads rent-free, et cetera. Overall I'd give the game the completely arbitrary score of maybe 7/10 or 7.5/10. Pretty good, but definitely not the "EASY GAME OF THE YEAR" the particularly zealous Zelda fanboys were hyping it up as.

Promotion Evaluation Two
Over the last few weeks, I feel like I have gained a great amount of insight, knowledge, and appreciation about all that goes into any show and exhibition never mind a shared graduate show with three different classes that had not really interacted before.
I think the first hurdle faced was the space in which the degree show was to take place in, this was up in the air for what seemed a very long time, especially when you’re trying to envision what type of space we would be working with. When the space was finally chosen the layout seemed to be the next obstacle to tackle. The class went down to the space and started measuring out how much room each of us would have. Alan also helped by drawing out layout ideas and passing them onto the group via Angus. Once a layout design was secured, the team of Angus, Charlotte and Amy began the task of meeting with the Design students to assess and gather each students’ requirements. After several long meetings the group came back with a layout – that largely panned out to the final installation with only a few people swapping to spaces. This was because some of us had to share which resulted in a few conversations on whose work would look good next to someone else, all issues were resolved by simply swapping a few people around, till we ended up with the best solution that was available.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Along with our own personal self-promotion that most of us took up via platforms like Instagram, we also exchanged our Instagram handles with the students from design so we could have a look at each other’s work and support each other. The Instagram take over that was handled by Arianne went very well and I feel like each post had a good reach and feedback. I think the most successful the take over felt was once we had the posters that we could share along with the dates and showtimes. This felt like a successful moment as we finally could share the dates and start inviting people along.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Installation went well for me personally, I did have to switch spaces, so I wasn’t sure where I was going to be placed until I arrived. My space was to be shared with Arianne, which I was really happy with as I felt that our work was easily distinguished but also well balanced and neither persons work was fighting for dominance over the other. As the type and size of space wasn’t confirmed until quite close to the installation date, personally I was not able to picture the space. I had done digital mock sketches with a “gallery wall” style of installation. Once I seen the space, I knew I could stretch out a lot more. After painting the walls, I laid out the paintings and with the helps or Lorna, Charlotte, Sumayyah, Ghita, Karly and Lynn we finally settled on a layout that allowed each painting room to breathe and have their own space. I also placed my six vessels on a small plinth in the corner of my space. I used D-rings on the back of my painting which had a wire to hang the canvases, this was quite easy to install as I simply measured the tension of the wire and adjusted the nail height. Overall, I was really pleased with my space and how installation went, and I think that we all banded together as a cohesive unit which has resulted in an impressive show even though we faced quite a few challenges.

Finally, a proper color scheme and design for Esther! She's deserved one for a while now. I'm quite happy with how she came out, this design is actually really cute. Gives her a quirk that I don't think any of the other girls fill. She's very indecisive, and tends to mash up designs she thinks are cute...even if they don't exactly work together.
Realms of Influence
-Color: Magenta
-Theme: Nature and Elements
-Realm of Creativity: Personality Traits and other Aspects of Character Design.
Character Break Down:
"Full Name": Esther Dulcinea Salvalma
Sexual Orientation: She's bisexual, but maaaaaaaan does she have bad luck with romance.
Age: 24
Birthday: February 1st
Ethnicity: Pinoy-Australian
Eye Color: Hazel, with a bead of green around her pupil.
Hair Color: Chestnut, but it's not naturally that way. It's usually a lighter brown.
Height: 5'7''
Weight: 171lbs
Cup Size: D Cup, she's much more proud of her thicc thighs though.
Other Features: Her bangs cover the front of her eyes for some reason, just like Bianca. She loves wearing croptops, especially ruffled ones, and due to her well defined abs and fit physique, it definitely suits her. Things with detached sleeves and the like are also big with her. When she grins super hard (its common), her eyes almost seem to just disappear under her bangs. Always wears magentas and browns, basically looks like a walking Valentines Day card. She plays up her cute genki girl attitude for maximum attraction. Absolutely *loves* things with bows. Her style seems to be a mish-mash of super girly stuff and casual athletic wear. Like she'll wear a tank top with a really frilly skirt, or a cashmere sweater with ballerina flats and tights and leotard. She has a massively varied outfit, and doesn't mind if she looks silly, she just enjoys feeling good in her outfits.
Overall Attitude: Esther is probably the "anti-Illia", a spunky girl who jumps into the fray no matter the concern. She's a hotheaded go-getter with a weirdly high amount of energy and a genuine passion for life. Which tends to mean doing very big and very dumb stunts to get the full enjoyment of the world. Esther is prone to pretty much showing up in whatever outfit she feels best in, even if it doesn't quite make sense for the occasion. This plays into the fact that she's rather...ill informed of how social norms are. Looking at how she acts, you'd think she came from a different country altogether. She's very in tune with her emotions, and wears them on her sleeve. This is what allows her to do her job so well, as she's the Architect of the Soul, coming up with the descriptions of the characters after Illustro creates them.
Problems: I'm surprised I never drew an ahoge on her head, cause she's kiiiiiind of dumb. She's very much like a Labrador puppy. Cute and adorable, but also doesn't know her own strength, seems to have traded intelligence for friendliness points, and once she gets going with something, she will not stop...even if she's obviously wrong. She's also very forceful, and oblivious at times, so she has a habit of accidentally forcing people to do stuff, even if they reeeeeally don't want to by sheer force of will and encouragement.
Phobias: Surprisingly, for her go getter attitude, she has a big fear of needles and underground places. So caves are especially terrifying to her.
Style and Mannerisms: Easily flips back and forth between speaking rapid fire Filipino, Spanish, and English. If you aren't trilingual, it'll be almost impossible to keep up with anything she says. She's very touchy, and she'll absolutely embrace anyone in a massive hug (she's also surprisingly strong.) Usually can be seen rocking back and forth on her heels, as she's not a big fan of standing still. She's remarkably fast, and has in fact done the "naruto run" at least a few times in her life. She's definitely big on memes, and if you pay attention to the backgrounds of certain comics, she will absolutely be cameoing somehow doing some sort of meme. Always at the front of the line if walking with a group, chastising everyone fore being too slow. She has an aversion to nicknames, though is a bit hypocritical since she uses them on others repeatedly.
Relationships: She tries so hard here, but ultimately her luck with people just isn't good enough. She tends to either intimidate or scare off potential love interests. Illustro likes to tease her about it. In fact, the two share a very sibling like relationship, with all the ups and downs.
Likes: Travelling, exploring world cultures is one of her weak points, and if she's in a country, she will absolutely get absorbed into it, picking up the fashion, food, mannerisms, and etc in less than a week. She's like a chameleon, it's actually really impressive. She's also big on composing music, although she's still learning the ropes in that regard. Movies are her bread and butter, and she will obsess over film and cinema history.
Moral Alignment: Chaotic Good.
Powers:
-Serif-im is exceptionally sharp and precise. The blade never dulls, but more importantly, she can look into her enemies history, personality, and etc and just...rewrite it. Rohan Kishibe style. She's really skilled with the sword too, giving it properties if she can write about it on any surface. Sound effects come to life as well.
-Her realm of influence granted to her by being a Guardian is "Nature and Elements", granting her full control of flora, fauna and the classical elements alike...however due to her preferences, she tends to stick to water and ocean themed abilities.
Weaknesses: Physically, she's just a human. While the abilities granted to her by the sword do help, it isn't exactly HARD to overpower her or the other Guardians.
-She has NO patience for plans and can almost be guaranteed to stray from them if possible. If you need to find the weak link to break the structure of the team, she's usually it.
Favorites:
Color: Magenta, maroon, scarlet, light pink, and chocolate.
Animal: Sheep, seals, pretty much every sea creature at all.
Places: Pshh, try places she doesn't like for a shorter list.
Food: Meatloaf and Strawberry flavored sodas.
Media: Film
Songs Associated with Her:
www.youtube.com/watch?v=jX9KYx… "Groove Is In The Heart Vs. Le Freak" DJ Hero 2
www.youtube.com/watch?v=hoWyne… "K2G" Hi Hi Puffy Ami Yumi
www.youtube.com/watch?v=voMXqN… "Bomb Rush Blush (Smash Mix)" Tomoya Ohtani
Possible Voice Actress:
Christine Marie Cabanos, mainly because she's got the spunk with Filia in Skullgirls, SquidGirl in...the show of the same name, and other roles. But honestly, I can just sorta see her voice coming from Esther's looks alone.

War… Hold up, do we really need a warning for this one? Dunno, but however, watch out for slightly disturbing and kinda…disgusting imagery, trypophobic patterns, as well as ‘necrotic’ designs I made while having funky fever bc o h m y g o d do I get a little crazier every new quarantine day (and at this point it’s coming to be an usual thing for me, big sad). However, most are made no other than for the sole sake of satire, so y’know, no need to get your underwear in a twist

Friday Night Funkin’ BoyFriend’s Hood – Jazz Mum Concept [XI]
EDIT 26/10/2023: Updated the drawing with a rescanned, more clean version (yipee text is readable now :D)
So yeah, though I originally used the concept from MizanPloz‘s mod for BF’s mom in BFs’H (basically the same stuff but she knows how to play saxo), on the later run I decided to withdraw that idea the moment I started to ‘rewrite’ BF’sH as an alternate timeline from the main FNF canon, and bring up something of my own, which, by the way, slightly relates back to the original prototype I had in mind for BF’s mom, who was supposed to be a rowdy, ghetto-ish woman who banged a male ghost in order to have BF (please don’t ask me to explain how in the Kentucky fried fuck is that even logically possible because I have no clue myself, my brain was doing funny little flips back then –and yes that was a reference to the funny green hoodie masked man)
…And overall, this was the final result: A trucker woman that likes to play jazz on her sax, either smooth, rock or whatever, I’m no saxophone expert. Also, she’s a raptors and dinosaurs lover, bet you 5 bucks she’ll flip if she stumbles across Minus Pico (no wonder why she used to wear dino-like caps during her young adulthood)
She’s quite absent though, but she tries to keep up with his husband and kids by sending letters and calling up at any chance she gets to do so, and you can also bet those same 5 bucks BF is the first one to have a happiness overdrive when he hears her voice on the phone speaker.
Oh yeah and she can drive bussies too; and considering she lives in an ‘unusual’ hood (to say the least) you can imagine the sort of shit she has to prepare for during her shifts (hence why that sketch in the right up corner exists)
And yeah, she and McBleep (her husband and BF’s dad in this AT/AU) didn’t like each other that much during their young adulthoods, but I’ll tell the story about it in a later post, just you wait
Also, that circular thingy hanging on her neck isn’t a necklace, it’s a locker with plenty of family photos (yeah it might be small but once you open it you’ll see it’s literally a mini album inside). Plus, the tattoos she has on her arms and chest actually represent certain things about her. The one on her chest is related to her own family tree plus her husband and children; the one on her left arm refers to her profession as a truck and bus driver (she likes the vroom vroom) and the one on her right arm relates to her passion for sax music.
And BTW, something I forgot to mention in the previous post- in BF’sH, BF has this funny thing on him that he’s capable of imitate any sort of alarm, siren and even bugle, including truck ones…also his snore sounds like a bike roaring, though this one came off more explicitly during his teenhood, you have no idea the amount of times Broddy lost his shit by confusing his snorts with an actual bike going off…or being stolen even (let’s be real though, he kinda dum)
And I guess that’s about it
