#otp: maybe you could devastate me

y'know I've been thinking about buddie a lot since buck being bi became canon and as much as I love bucktommy I really wonder if/how they can make it endgame. my biggest concern right now is that buddie makes so much sense narratively that anything else would feel forced because for bucktommy (or buckanyoneelse) to be endgame it'll feel like eddie will never find love. I don't necessarily think that's true but it will feel like it. at least in that moment.
both these men have been in and out of relationships for the whole time we've known them and their north star has still always been them. they still always go right back to the other. and that can be done in a platonic way and they can have a platonic soulmates buddie alongside a romantic bucktommy but i dunno
even though I personally do headcanon eddie as arospec and love buddie as both a qpr and a romantic relationship I don't think abc is gonna do a qpr. and I don't think they'll do a poly relationship either and give us bucktommyeddie.
I'm just so worried about how they'll handle this because there's so many people who joined the fandom after 7x04 and have bucktommy as their endgame ship. and I cannot imagine the pain of having a canonical queer otp with a bi main character that you love and hold dear be ripped out of your hands just for another relationship that you may or may not care about. I can see how it would be devastating. I would be so upset if we got buddie only for them to break up and another relationship to take its place down the line.
and while i love buck and tommy together so much I still really only see buddie as endgame with how I perceive the story so far. if bucktommy or anyone else becomes endgame I won't be angry or anything but unless it's well done I'll probably question how they got there.
like it's possible. I'll never say never because they could completely surprise me and Eddie will have a compelling love interest or maybe they'll even go the qpr angle or poly relationship route.
I love multi shipping and I've never expected any ship I have to become canon so I'll survive and most likely be happy no matter what happens. I ultimately have always only wanted buck and eddie and now tommy to be happy.
but I can't stop thinking about whether or not the writers room will completely fumble this. I'm worrying so much I'll give myself a ulcer.

"Uh..." William looked down at Toki, who had laid his head on his shoulder and began absently running his hands along William's stomach. He had a bad habit of doing that when he got nervous. The first few times, William had thought Toki had been making fun of him. But he never truly minded it—as long as no one else was around. "Schomethin' on your mind?" he asked.
Toki yawned. "Nos." He pressed his head into William's hair.
He didn't buy it. "C'mon, Toki, you only do this when shomethin's upsetting you. If you're just fuckin' with me—"
"Nos!" Toki sat up straighter, seemingly affronted by the insinuation. "I's was just tireds! Ams dat a problems?"
"You have a bed if you're so tired." He crossed his arms. If Toki's bad habit was annoying, William's own bad habit of shoving away anyone who tried to show him affection. If that's what this was, anyway. He had a hard time believing anyone would seek affection from him.
"Murdaface...," Toki said in an almost sing-songy voice, wrapping both his arms around William's torso in an attempt to get closer to him.
William turned his head. He didn't shove him off. He could have. But he didn't.
"Hm..." Toki brushed his hand under William's hair, fingers just barely grazing his neck. "Tiger," he whispered, "can'ts I just cuddles with yous? Just as...pals?"
He didn't want to think about the way Toki called him tiger, how it send shivers down his spine. How his gentle touch was so devastating but so needed that it almost made him breathless. How—and maybe this was just wishful thinking on his part—Toki's hesitation in calling him his pal seemed to imply something more. Something deeper. He looked back at him, embarrassed about how Toki's ice blue doe eyes stared at him so earnestly.
No one had ever looked at him that way before.
"Ugh. Fine." He reluctantly wrapped an arm around Toki's back, pulling him closer. "But you better not fucking tell anyone elsche about thisch, got it?"
"Okays." He rested his head on William's shoulder again. "You just so cozies, tiger..."
Toki fell asleep pretty quickly. William could've shoved him off of him once the light snores started. But Toki still had an iron grip around him, and William wasn't ready to let this closeness go.

This is pure speculation, but was wondering the same thing.
The obsession with steddyhands/edizzy/stizzy shipping could stem from any number of things (and we know when some people ship, they ship hard), but probably why some were so convinced of its validity or potential might be because this is a show that's been advertised/perceived as 'you never know what's going to happen next' and where 'so many fanfic-related dreams can come true' especially when related to queer fanfiction. Combined with the show's flexible disregard for the rules of reality (bird transformations, super fast healing, logic-defying dinghies, etc.), this could foster the perception that literally 'anything is possible.'
Also, OFMD has consistently reassured the queer community that they're not bullshitting when it comes to featuring, highlighting, and supporting queer relationships, which apparently could translate to 'any ship you could dream of might actually happen here.'
So from that point of view, the OFMD crew basically said ‘yes, let's do it!’ to so many beloved fanfic tropes and queer relationships except these particular OTPs. There's also the possibility of outright indignation - 'Well, you gave Fan Groups A and B their fantasies, why not me/us?'
Plus the manifestation of Izzy's antagonist-to-ally arc was probably equated to meaning 'only positive things are going to happen to him from here on out,' so naturally this was going to progress into a romantic/sexual relationship with one or both of the romantic leads (whether out of genuine belief that it made sense and would be good for him or just because it would be a hot and sexy outcome).
So this - as well as an article promoting and practically promising an Izzy/Ed/Stede love triangle - might be another reason why some of the shippers went beyond being just disappointed (which isn't too unreasonable) and plummeted into a sense of hurt and devastation. Maybe they felt somewhat 'betrayed' in a bait-and-switch kinda way by the revelation that pairing Izzy with Ed/Stede/both more than likely wasn't the even on the table.
Being upset over Izzy's death however, that's another matter...

For the ask thingy... I have a feeling I might know some of the answer to this, but here's a two-fer. Take your pick (or answer both if you're in the mood):

OpStar: Don't ship it.
Why don’t you ship it?
Well, for starters, there's Optimus laughing at the idea of Megatron doing horrible things to Starscream. Bit off-putting, that.
More generally, Optimus has a... morality thing. Specifically, his own view on morality, which he pushes onto anyone in his vicinity. Which, y'know. Starscream is a villain, you kinda have to redeem him if the ship is actually going to work, right? Or file off his rough edges and make him Secretly A Good Person Actually, or a generally good person/helpless victim who just needs to See The Light.
Two problems with this: first, I prefer corruption arcs. Let Starscream bring people to the Dark Side, darn it. And second, Optimus does not practice what he preaches. One might even call him a hypocrite. Case in point, mind control is Evil when the Bad Guys do it, but he was perfectly happy to try controlling the Constructicons - and through them, Devastator - in The Core. And if mind control is an acceptable approach to turning people to your side, what does that mean for the ex-Decepticon you're looking to bed? I wouldn't trust any canon Optimus to treat Starscream with legitimate kindness, save for Armada Optimus. Because he actually did that. And maybe EarthSpark, but we only have a couple lines of dialogue to go on so far, so I'll reserve judgement there.
(Note of clarification, most of my Optimus Problems apply to G1 versions of the character. I actually kind of like other Optimii. Still don't ship him with Starscream, though).
As for Starscream, he's not going to do a 180 and suddenly be a loyal and obedient follower just because he gets some praise once in a while (if he does, that's incredibly unhealthy and he shouldn't be in a relationship with someone who could very easily take advantage of him). Starscream has opinions and ideas. And when he sees someone doing something stupid, he's going to call them on it. But Optimus does what Optimus thinks best, and if Starscream thinks differently, they are going to fight. And Optimus isn't going to listen to him, because he doesn't listen. Doubly so if Starscream's opinion can be construed as immoral.
Tl;dr: they would be horrible together.
2. What would have made you like it?
I think TFP is the only place where they would have had a chance with me, so... Maybe if Optimus had tried to reach out to Starscream after Arcee chased him off? But the irony is, if Optimus was the kind of person who could be trusted with Starscream's well-being, he would also recognize that his status as a powerful authority figure makes him someone Starscream shouldn't be in a relationship with. So it still wouldn't work.
3. Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?
It's fun when they argue. Which has nothing to do with them as a pairing, I just enjoy when their dynamic is ruthlessly antagonistic.

Why don’t you ship it?
I ship Skyfire with one (1) person. Irrationally uncomfortable seeing him with someone else. OTP in the purest sense of the term.
Optimus is not that one person.
2. What would have made you like it?
Might need to rewire my brain, tbh. First, I'd need to be comfortable shipping Skyfire with someone else. Second, I would need to like Optimus enough to ship him with anyone. Third, they would need to have enough in common that I could ship them specifically.
Impossible task, I would say.
3. Despite not shipping it, do you have anything positive to say about it?
I had a roommate a few years ago who really liked anime, so I decided Armada would be a good way to introduce them to Transformers. They came away with a few ships, including Optimus/Jetfire. And they decided the ship name was Flying Fish, because of how the pair's combined form looks.
So that's a fun little story.

Summary: You've been training Kiku for some time. But when you two clashed swords, she kept losing so much that she doubted her swordmanship

"Nice one, Kiku!"
You two were training in a dojo, well your dojo exactly. Kiku started training with you after she found you stole her training place. Because of that, you were training her to see if she was worth the try.
But as you clashed swords, you saw her swordplay. Her sword moved in such an unusual way, genuinely fascinating to see. She trains everyday, so it's undoubtedly surprising to see her progressing this far. But still, she wasn't enough to beat you.
"Good try, Kiku! You just needed to sharpen your senses!" You encouraged her. "Your swordplay was unusual, but stunning to watch".
"Ah, okay!" Kiku nodded to you as she whispered something. "I'll take that as a note."
You then wiped the sweat coming from your face, and put your sword in place. But as Kiku gets faraway, you can't help but notice the gloomy look on her face.

The Sakura trees were blooming, dazzling every eye that met it. The pink radiant color that appears in every petal was stunning. The strong woods that supported the cherry blossoms were the reason that kids often play around it. But now, you saw her, devastated under the tree.
She then put her frightening mask on to hide her emotions. While doing so, you had to observe the situation. Otherwise, it won't be good. Kiku then proceeds to shed tears in her mask. Maybe for her, showing emotions is embarrassing. So she decided to bottle it up and be in tears when no one's around.
You then rushed to the scene, and sat right next to her.
"Kiku, are you okay?"
"I-i'm fine", she said with a crack in her voice. "Well, not really".
"If it's okay, can you tell me your problems?" You then opened her mask and wipes her tears with your hands. "It is safe here, Kikunojo."
Kiku then takes a deep breath, and proceeds to tell her problems.
"I don't know. I'm just frustrated. Maybe so much that I doubted myself."
"Why's that?"
"You see, after Oden-sama died, I was filled with guilt until they showed up. Luffytaro and others really helped me to show my true intentions. But still, why would I get tricked by that Kanjuro, to befriend him ,and get almost on my way to hell with Kanjuro defeating me?"
You take a deep breath. Right, the person you train is the Kikunojo of the Lingering Snow, of the nine Red Scabbards members. Well, eight exactly. After the battle with Kaido, she had lost an arm, but shrugged off like it was nothing.
"I felt useless in front of Oden-sama. How could I let him be boiled alive by the bastard Orochi and Kaido? When I was defeated by you, the flashbacks of him getting boiled appeared in front of my eyes".
"Well, sorry for that-"
"No need to, because he died because of how weak I am. If I was stronger, no one would die that day. But I learned from the past, that I have to be stronger in order to protect anyone."
A silence was felt between you and Kiku. She has to learn self love, or else she will be dragged into a black hole of self hate.
"Hey Kiku, I think you're ABC!"
"What's that?"
"Aesthetically, But Clumsy".
"Wha-"
"Listen, you need to love yourself. No need to blame yourself for everything that happened. Yes, you are weak, but does it matter even to your heart? I love you, so no matter what happens, you're always accepted in my heart".
"Thanks" Kiku giggled in response. "That was a smooth pick-up line there!"
"I-um thank you too!"

It's me again and yes to all of that sure he wanted his friends to be happy but I meant more specifically that he wanted Kie to be happy even if it wasn't with him and you can tell that hurt a lot he couldn't even look at her kissing Pope's cheek at to cover up his poor eyes with his hat I was sad for him there. I for one can't wait when she finds out a lot of things he does is for her and how much he loves her and willing to give up for her this really is the superior ship all 3 otps lol

But yes, I totally got what you meant! He for sure was the maker of his own misery in this scene, pushing Kie toward Pope for whatever reason - he thought that she deserved someone "good", that that's what would make his friends happy, etc.
This particular expression of his was SO PAINFUL because it wasn't the sort of scowls we got in his other jealous scenes with John B. This was...truly upset, devastated, and just...sad. It was much more sobering than his other looks. So much so that he quite literally shielded his face and turned away before anyone could clock it.
I wonder how much she'll find out about the past, his feelings, the reasons for some of his actions. I'm not sure! But I think she's having a realization of oh...he would die for me, literally. Maybe that explains some things.

Dear god do I love snarry. It's been my otp for well over a decade, despite the fact that I've never written a single word for it. (Maybe someday that will change? I hope so.)
Sometimes I feel like I've read everything there is to read, but eventually there always comes more. Suffice it to say, I've read a lot of snarry. My favorites, though, are pretty popular, and they've changed as I've aged. (Adolescent me was ready to die for SnapesFavorite to finish In This World For You.) Now, however, my top 5 in no particular order...

One day, comfortably set up in the afterlife, Lily Evans Potter switches on the telly and gets hooked on the Harry Potter show.
I read this again very recently and everytime it tears me apart. I also very much enjoyed listening to perverse_idyll talk about this work on the @fanficmaverickpodcast . She speaks just as brilliantly as she writes, and having more insight into this treasure of a fic was so cool to hear.

I'm not usually one for a/b/o fics, but I do love a good Pride & Prejudice AU, so it won me over immediately. Currently a WIP, but don't let that discourage you. LilaDiurne is a master and she'll surely deliver. (It does have a fun little spot of Harry/Lucius, which I'm almost sorry wasn't the main pairing for this fic!)
⚡mia_ugly's entire collection of work... but okay I want to talk about However I Fall.
In one timeline, Severus lives. In the other, he dies.
In both, he falls in love.
So. This fic was originally published in 2015 and I have been thinking of it ever since. It is, unfortunately, a WIP, but any shred of a sentence written by mia_ugly is worth experiencing at least a dozen times. I know the phrase is cliché, but she's genuinely one of those writers where I'd read her grocery list. I read her entire HP collection at least once a year. Like all of her work, However I Fall is devastating and gorgeous and so full of heart.... God I wish it was finished.

Snape sees the man, for the first time, on his twenty-fifth birthday.
It was a hard call between this one and Night Watch, which I love with a similar passion. This was the first fic I ever read of mia_ugly's and it's one of those works that reminds me how important and fantastic it is to be a writer. The skill with which she writes pulls emotions from me that any fiction rarely can. This is a favorite of so many snarry fans for a reason. (That very first scene hits me so hard every time. I have to brace myself for it. Please read Rapture.)

He would do his duty. He would save Draco, if he could. He would protect the students, if and when the school fell to the Deatheaters. And Potter. As far as he was concerned, Potter could have whatever he wanted, now. What was the point of trying to tell him no if he was going to be sacrificed on the pyre of the greater good? If Potter wanted to learn, Severus would be his teacher. If he wanted a master, then Severus would make him submit. And if he wanted a lover... well. Severus would love him. And that was it. Anything else was a waste of time. And there was so little of that.
This fic, although relatively new, has already become a classic for the ship. It's a WIP but there is so much to read already, it won't feel so painful to catch up. It has so much of what I enjoy - student/teacher, wartime, an absurdly powerful Harry, weird sex - that I think it'll be in my top 5 for the rest of time, come what may. Chickenpets, conveniently, was also interviewed on the Fanfic Maverick Podcast, and her comments on not only Pacify but the characters in general were so interesting to hear. I'll probably listen to it again soon. I hesitate to say this is THE snarry to read if you've never read any, but then again... I'm saying it.

I wanted to update my answer and write some of my thoughts out of it into a different post.
I was making gifs of Tommy from series 1 and found myself thinking of how he's changed and not in a good way.
When I saw 3.04 episode for the first time my heart broke. I remember myself feeling enormous fury towards Tommy. And it felt like I was living Grace who found out that Tommy was cheating on her. Just imagine. I wanted to ripe him into pieces in the moment when he allowed Tatiana to wear his coat that Grace was wearing during their wedding day. I wanted to cry so much (and I did) when he allowed her to stay in their room, use her perfume and had sex with her in there. It. Just. Broke. Me. I was in pain. Literally. For me it was the worst moment in the show. No kidding. I know she's a manipulative woman, I know he's grieving and she uses it, but also he is not a dog to obey. Of course I accepted it and understood it later. But I think this is the moment when I started to not give a fuck about his love life. Because since then it all had spiraled into abyss. My heart has been broken by this show so many times times and there were hardly a few moments to mend it.
I have my otp and I will never accept someone else because I don't think SK is capable to write it good and right and with respect to Grace's legacy.
I remember myself feeling sympathy for him till that episode. But since then I can occasionally feel sorry for him and that's all. No more sympathy. I was just so pissed off. Yes, I have the explanations of his behaviour, but not excuses. Not anymore. Nah. He acts like an asshole since Grace's death. Maybe it's time to bear some responsibility for your actions, no? Yes, he's traumatized. But it doesn't mean he can treat people around him like shit. He became the main whore, the main villain of this story. I know how hard it is to separate his actions from Cillian Murphy's handsomeness as Thomas Shelby. His charisma overshadowes his brutal, selfish, disgusting actions. Tommy Shelby from s1 bewitched me since the very first time I saw him so this why it's so devastating for me to see him turning into what he is turning into.
And all of this shit is so disappointing. Because I remember him in series 1. Oh gosh, how good he was! Do you remember how he cared for those people who are close to him? Do you remember him being vulnerable? Do remember him being cared about losing the horse? I love series 1 so much and I keep saying it all the time. It's a masterpiece for so many reasons. But Tommy Shelby s1 is its treasure. Complex, deep, contradictory and sensitive character. And in some way more open not only to people around him, but to the audience too. Yes, he did bad things too but you could still understand his motivation and feel sorry for him. Because we've been able to see his vulnerable and broken side. He had good intentions in general without his swollen God Complex that we've seen in s5 and his "empty throne". He was a man who cared for people. A good man who does bad things.
Now it feels like he is just a walking suffering shell. He is literally not here. Drowned into his pain and suffer. Living, but not alive. "I don't like the fucking life", "Do you feel anything? You talk as if you're watching everything on a screen". He uses his own family to achieve what he's set out to achieve without actually caring about them.
While I was writing all this stuff I've catched myself thinking that I would like to see him at WWII. Because somehow it suits him more than his semi-civilian life. He told it himself before while he was burying his horse: “Dangerous, my beautiful horse. Too wild to race. Wouldn’t take the reins or the whip. Should have been a war horse. Got tired of the pasture. Couldn’t stick the peace and quiet, gave up on life… and is now free.”
I enjoyed seeing his communications with Barney in s5. He reeeally knows how to get through to his men. And he seems more real, you know? It's been a pleasure to watch. So yes, I wanna see him at WWII but without all the women who - god only knows why - can't resist the charming twitching thing in his pants. I'm actually tired of that part of the plot.

I don’t necessarily agree Ricky and Gina were put together because they are the leads now. I can definitely see how one could think that but for me it was evident throughout the series they were leading up to Rina. Personally I think the writers put Portwell together so they could just get the ship over with before allowing Rina to progress. They never seemed to put that much effort into Portwell as they did Rini and Rina. Even Rini was destined to fail because they may have loved each other first but they didn’t want the same thing. To me putting Rini together at the end of the season ruined both of the characters development. Also I believe Ricky did like Gina a lot in s1 he was devastated when she left and so he went back to Nini. She didn’t even get a chance to be a “maybe” for him because she clearly cut off contact with him so he lost hope. When she came back he wanted to give his ongoing relationship with Nini a try so he pushed aside his feelings for Gina. Rina were definitely the most will they/ won’t they couple of the series spanning 3 seasons so it wasn’t that surprising they got together at some point. Lol I’m sure you know by now I’m a Rina but just wanted to get my perspective out there cause I came across your post :)
I kinda got the feeling you were a Rina fan 😆 And that's cool, that's your OTP and you can probably see or pick up on more things with them than I can because you're invested and believe in the couple. To each their own.
That being said, I agree with you that they didn't put the effort into Portwell like Rina, certainly not the effort Portwell deserved as a whole, but more importantly for EJ. There was SO much more put into Gina's speech to Ricky in those last couple of minutes than Portwell got all season.
Like I said, I'm not personally a Rina or Portwell shipper. I wouldn't choose one over the other, and there are other ships (both OTPS and brOTPS) that I care more about and believe. Were there things in either ship, any signs, any feelings that could've gone over my head? Probably. But what makes me mad isn't any kind of Rina vs Portwell (I'm not trying to pick fights or take one side over the other, and I do apologize if it came across that way but that is not my intention at all), it's how EJ was treated in the middle of it all when he absolutely did not deserve any of that. He was done so dirty when that didn't need to happen at all. Personally, I'm just angry for him. Maybe that's why I don't ship Rina, or rather why I wouldn't want them to be endgame. But that's your ship and it makes you happy 🙂

Athelstan
My NOTP for them - Hmmm, I've seen a few Ecbert/Athelstan's played straight which doesn't vibe well with me, like I can SEE where it comes from but my Ecbert interpretation is extremely unflattering and I have a hard time getting past that lol.
My BROTP for them - HELGA IS SWEETEST GIRL AND BFF, when we see them cuddle in the season 2 premier it warms my ENTIRE SOUL.
My OTP for them - Unsurprisingly, Floki/Athelstan/Ragnar, which is my most special of special pairings that I adore. Any variation on it fascinates me, I usually go for a more season one vibe in my fic but honestly I think a rivals to lovers plot (between Floki and Athelstan) would also be fantastic, especially since we know that Ragnar has utilized the MAYBE HAVE A THREESOME? to try and resolve spats between love interests before LOL. Their dynamics just blend VERY well and both Athelstan and Floki are wonderful foils that bounce very well off of Ragnar and so they work best when both are in play. Really, anything that lets the three of them be TOGETHER will be exciting for me.
My second choice pairing for them - Okay so after seeing how cutely they interacted, I have a soft spot for Athelstan/Torstein, they don't get MUCH screentime together but when they are together they're so CUTE.
My fluffy pairing for them - Every pairing is a fluffy pairing with Athelstan involved. Is this a cop out answer? Yes, absolutely, but if I am writing a pairing with this boy my instinct is to FLUFF! IT! UP!
My angsty pairing for them - Okay so when he finds out about Arne's death he said "Arne?" in the most DEVASTATED TONE and anyway, Athelstan/Arne developing a small Thing that they don't get time to pursue before Rollo fucking. Eviscerates the poor boy. That's the right angst stuff.
My favorite poly ship for them - Same as the OTP, lol, this will be a theme because my OTPs usually are polycules, it's like this in every fandom lol.
My weirdest pairing for them - Honestly, Floki/Athelstan/Ragnar is by far the weirdest ship lol, making this the third time it has appeared on this list, it is simply my Life and Love
Crosshair
My NOTP for them - I have few complete NOTPs with him, so gonna have to go with the obvious of Rampart. Haven't seen MANY fics play this as a straight up pairing, but it's one that I genuinely can't see.
My BROTP for them - I read a really good longfic that included some Howzer & Crosshair bonding and now I crave it. Howzer is interesting because he really was the 'if you're so evil eat this kitten' of post-chip Crosshair, he could have shot him, chipped Crosshair WOULD have shot him, but he didn't. I hope Crosshair actively helps to get him out of jail and they can vibe together.
My OTP for them - POLYBATCH. Listen the five of them vibe so well together and each and every dynamic within it is something fascinating to me. I want nothing more than for them to be happy, I crave and demand it. Let them be happy (and kiss)
My second choice pairing for them - osijfoidsjf I'm going to cheat because my second choice is honestly any single ship with one of the other batchers. Polyam is my preference but I will also happily read about any one dynamic within the group.
My fluffy pairing for them - Actually pulling out a subset of the OTP here, but Crosshair/Wrecker specifically is fascinating to me because in the initial four parter they really do seem to be the closest. They compete yeah, but Wrecker will intervene IMMEDIATELY to protect Crosshair (he even forgot his fear of heights for him!) and Crosshair seems very proud of Wrecker (he's going to get the gunship out of there, not Cody) and they have a cute quiet moment around the fire before things turn into a Fight and I WISH we got to hear what they were talking about.
My angsty pairing for them - EVERY pairing is an angsty pairing when you're a dramatic emo bitch like Crosshair is. Truly there is not a single pairing that can't be completely played for angst. Does the angsty Cad Bane/Crosshair smut fic I'm poking at count if they're not really together and it's just an unwise one night stand? It probably counts.
My favorite poly ship for them - same as the OTP, polyships are my bread and butter.
My weirdest pairing for them - Probably the Rex/Crosshair (platonic or not) considering their primary interaction was Rex punching him in the face for talking shit about Echo. But that also makes him one of the few people that has completely noped out of dealing with Crosshair's shit and he needs that. There's value in dating the person that won't let you do your typical nonsense!

Hello, Anon! No worries at all! I love Vil, so thanks for sending this! 💜
1. Sexuality Headcanon
He’s gay, which I think is something he’s known for a long time, but kept quiet about because he was hyper-aware of the fact it could cost him roles. As such, he doesn’t really like to address it and, when he’s asked, he’ll just wave it off and say he’s too busy with work to even think about dating.
Which isn’t even a lie, per se, because for the longest time, he’d never met anyone who seemed worth being distracted by. That is, until…
2. OTP
Malvil! They’re SOULMATES because I just think that they. 🥺🥺🥺
Okay, but getting serious— Vil can be… neurotic (affectionate) and Malleus has this generally calm, patient, grounding personality that balances Vil out so well. Also, Malleus just always seems a little lonely and I feel like that’s something Vil can relate to, because at the end of the day, when he takes off his make-up and lets his hair down, there’s not many people in his life he’s comfortable being vulnerable with.
But I think he could get used to Malleus showing up on his balcony for a late night talk. I think they would both indulge each other in their rambling fixations (Vil going on about make-up and fashion, while Malleus goes on about gargoyles and architecture).
They’d become an old married couple in no time, much to the amusement of their friends and family. You’d see them having dinner by candlelight, speaking in low voices, but certainly not sweet little nothings. They’d be having a hushed, civil debate about some obscure matter regarding the craft of violin making or something.
3. BROTP
I mentioned Vil and Jamil in my post on the latter, so I’m gonna talk about Vil and Kalim here because that’s another BROTP that has my whole heart. I’ve yet to explore their dynamic in fic, but happily, my dear friend @moorsgrimhilde got right to it with Chapter 1 of you’ve got a friend in me. We both have a lot of feelings about the VDC gang as found family (Chapter 6 really complicated the timeline for all this relationship development, but bear with me here jdkalsjgklsdgjkl).
I just think the VDC experience is where they find common ground. They bond over music and dance, and Vil starts to see Kalim as a younger brother of sorts. He can be a nag, but Kalim doesn’t mind. He makes an effort to listen and apply Vil’s advice where it counts, even as he maintains his carefree attitude. Vil notices the effort he makes underneath that eternal smile and laughter, so he doesn’t accept anything less than Kalim’s best in their dance practices and study sessions. This works out really well since Kalim respects Vil’s talent so much, he’s incredibly motivated to receive praise from him. Just a head pat or a “good job, Asim” means absolutely everything.
4. NOTP
The biggest nope for me is Leovil, but full disclosure: I just don’t like Leona, so that’s easily the major factor in why they’re a NOTP for me. I don’t want to dwell too much on that, so let’s see… another big one is Rook and Vil. I really love Rook, he's great, but I can only see him as maybe having had an unrequited crush on Vil when they first met. Emphasis on unrequited. I think Vil just kind of barely tolerated him for the first few months, growing more comfortable as Rook's crush faded into mere respect and admiration. They're best as besties. 🥰
5. First headcanon that pops into my head
Vil is a cat person. He loves and adores them, but he's allergic, which he had the misfortune of finding out upon finally getting the kitten he begged for as a child. He was devastated when his father told him the cat would have to be re-homed, since Vil couldn't very well show up to set looking and sounding like he had a perpetual cold.
All the years since that heartbreak, Vil still has all these videos of his kitten that he watches at night, just before bed, often falling asleep to the sound of his kitten's recorded purrs because he finds it soothing.
Then, one night, after he's started dating Malleus, they're cuddling in bed together and he has his fingers in Malleus' hair, gently rubbing at his scalp, when suddenly, Malleus begins to purr. Deep and rumbling.
Vil stops what he's doing, causing Malleus to crack one eye open (all green and cat-like, Vil thinks) and ask him what's wrong. Vil doesn't know what to say, so he just tells him, "Nothing," but that only makes Malleus raise an eyebrow because he knows a lie when he hears one.
Finally, Vil admits, "I suppose I just didn't realize dragons... purred."
"Ah." Malleus considers this for a moment. "Does it bother you...?"
Vil's eyes go wide and he quickly shakes his head, starting to rub at Malleus' scalp again with a flush to his cheeks. "No, it's fine," he says quietly. "I like it." (Malleus hums at that; soon, he starts to purr again.)
6. One way in which I relate to this character
The way he's such a destructive perfectionist always has me like, "Me too, bro. Me too." Our ambitions and fixations are quite different, but I still feel something familiar there in his attitude and the way he goes about things, pushing himself to burnout and forgetting to have fun, letting his failures eclipse his accomplishments. That sort of thing.
7. Thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
Hmm, so, I'm gonna say the way he asks his phone the equivalent of, "Siri, who's the prettiest boy alive?" and, uh, gets a wee bit demented over the answer lmao. (I maybe lost my shit the first time I heard him say "Mira Mira on the phone...") 😭😭 I don't know, I'm of two minds, because on the one hand I see the gaping wound of his insecurities revealed by this, but on the other hand, I need both hands to cover my face because he's such a dork sometimes and it's hilarious. 😭
8. Cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
I'd say he's firmly neither, just somewhere in-between. He's got a soft heart, but then sometimes he can be a little overbearing as a leader and it can be hard to recognize his good intentions underneath that. I don't think he's done anything to warrant being called a problematic fave though. He's just a kid who grew up too fast in an industry that nurtured his skills and aesthetic value more than his soul, if you will, so I think he struggles with how to express how much he cares about his dorm and his friends in a way they understand. Epel has certainly born the brunt of that, BUT I've noticed some encouraging character development in their relationship as well as in Vil individually over the course of the story (especially post-overblot). He's doing his best. 💕

I had planned on making this before copa américa begun, but then life happened. Better late than never, tho, right? Let's call this a celebration of Argentina's win. :D
Kun Agüero and Leo Messi are the OTP of all OTPs for me, so here is a list of a few of my favorite kunessi fanfics that I've read over the years. This is not by any means a complete list since there are so many great fics (so hmu if you'd like more recs or are looking for something specific), and the fics are not in any particular order.

When it was the two of them, the pitch became their world and the ball, their very own sun.
A story about football, love, and life featuring Leo and Kun from 2005-2010. Takes place in an alternate reality with liberal use of the butterfly effect.
This feels like an account of what could have happened. Many scenes that draw on real events etc. A very beautiful story of boys who love football and each other.

Kun knew he never should have had that last drink. Now he's gone and spilled his deep dark secret to Masche. And why is Kun's feelings for Leo the only secret Masche can't keep?

Buenos Aires AU. Kun is part of the city's social elite, drifting without any sense of responsibility and purpose. A chance encounter with a childhood friend puts his life into perspective.
AU that has nothing to do with football. My favorite fic of all time; any genre, any fandom, any pairing. What an absolute masterpiece. It broke my heart, but in the most beautiful way. I cried, and then I cried some more. And then i reread it.

How do you worship a god? Kun Aguero shows his reverence to one D10S de Futbol. But gods can be spoiled, complicated creatures...
"He's seen fans almost kill themselves jumping down from the stands to hug Leo, kiss him, bow down at his feet. Nearly drowning themselves to swim to his yacht. He's seen fans cry in joy when Leo gives them his shirt or a hug. This is his equivalent, Kun imagines. This is as close as he comes to praying anymore."
Hot and a bit angsty. Actually really angsty if you think about it.
Tonight Is For You by MessiFangirl (hpdm4ever) (3199 words, rated T)
Nobody approaches him, perhaps aware that he's fighting to maintain his composure. The Icelandic players are respectful enough that they give him his space, while the Argentine players are wise enough to know that he needs it.
There's a light touch against his bare back then, right against his waistband, and Leo lowers his shirt to glare.
I just love it when Kun get's a little angry. I mean I also love it when he gives Leo anything he needs, but when he puts his foot down, it makes for very good plot. This fic has that.
Make it better by brightcrystal (4324 words, rated E)
After Argentina's semi-final defeat against Brazil in the Copa América 2019, Leo is devastated and Kun wants to help him feel better. Going down a familiar path is the easy choice, but is it the right one when the kisses are mixed with bitter tears of disappointment?
A bit of fluff, a bit of angst, and a bit of smut. Can't go wrong with that.

Maybe Leo understands, or maybe Leo already knew—maybe Leo, with his dark eyes and his quiet mouth—maybe he can see better than others can. It seems like it on the pitch, but maybe that skill translates here too—maybe it sees Kun’s yearning, his hunger, his ache, his everything—all for Messi, todo por el.

What’s your top 5 favorite Rollisi moments?
I apologize, as this ask was sent days ago and I'm just now getting around to it because ya know, life, and because I took my sweet time thinking over these scenes.
It's a long one, under the cut!
1. The Scene (the kiss). This kiss has everything. It’s unexpected yet long overdue. It’s tender, it’s loving. There’s swaying. There’s standing on tip toes to reach Tol and there’s bending down to reach Smol. There’s water, city lights, a romantic atmosphere. There's tears (barely) but it's an excuse to touch faces! There's cheek caressing, there's longing, lingering stares, there's hesitance in transitioning from best friends to lovers. Light banter, nervous laughter. THE UNFINISHED SPEECH. I know I'm all over the place with this but SO ARE MY FEELINGS. So much has led up to this moment and I must say, the payoff was excellent. Perfect first kiss.
2. The Fight. Dare I name the one fight they got in that caused them to be labeled “toxic” by haters? I do dare. Why, one may ask? *shakes out piece of paper* Though they are fueled by their lack of sleep and unsaid feelings for each other at the time, there’s still some bite to Amanda’s bark on her part. She’s clearly upset over him leaving her, feels abandoned. Perhaps this is a feeling she’s used to from her own family trauma, but Carisi leaving the precinct particularly hurt not only because she has strong feelings for him at this point, but because he was the only one that ever was there for her in a way no one else was. I think she came to rely on him more than she may have even realized and that all spilled out in that small fight in the squad room. And he was so taken aback, obviously thought she was happy for him but of course she’s going to tell him she is because she doesn’t want to hurt him. The fight is so natural, happens unexpectedly but develops organically. The main reason it’s my number two? Giddish and Scanavino’s best acting, imo. And I’ve only seen the actual scene about three times because it makes me semi uncomfortable. It’s uncomfortable watching people argue. It was so intimate and clearly turned personal, it almost feels wrong to be watching them go at it (in a bad way. Heh). But I think that’s a testament to the acting! A+++ scene! I dream of writing a fight scene as well as this one!
3. The Hospital. Truly, this episode was packed with Rollisi moments from start to finish. I love every moment we get with them individually (hand grab, anyone? Or when he makes her LAUGH at such an emotional moment in the hospital. I could go on about this scene in detail but I’ll stop). My favorite moment of the episode is actually the last scene of them. After Rollins gets rid of her father's (ex) wife, she’s so proud of herself for doing what she feels is right and that reflects in her face when she smiles at Carisi. It’s so simple and subtle, but there’s so much love in that look. Kelli is a master at giving these loving looks and perfect expressions. It’s also a wonderful contrast to how she used to look at Carisi in the beginning - from season 16, when she thought he was a bit of a goof. Now she looks at him like he hung the got damn moon. We don't get to see Carisi's face here, but I imagine he's looking quite amused at her, maybe even charmed by her a little bit. I'm also obsessed with the way Amanda's eyelashes flutter down when he moves closer to her. Flirting over Amanda's bedridden father? The ✨romance!✨ Swoon!
4. The Elevator. This used to be number one for me, until we got the goodness in season 22. There’s something very special about this hug. It’s not even a hug, really. It’s clinging, desperate, need that one particular person and only this person kind of thing. It’s, of course, devastating that Rollins had to go through the whole thing with Bucci and possibly leaving her children without a mother, but like I said, something special about the way this led to letting the audience see who she really trusts as she let’s herself fall apart and into Carisi’s arms. Sure, she trusts her squad, but she also wants them to know she’s ok at all times. Even tells her own therapist this once or twice. She even *begins* to tell Carisi she’s fine, her usual response when asked if she’s alright, but then the second he says her name, it’s like a switch is flicked and she’s sobbing into him. DON’T THINK I FORGOT ABOUT SCANAVINO. He’s always there when she needs it. He’s patient with her, kind, takes her into him with absolutely no hesitation. This scene happens episodes after their fight in the squad room. It’s clear there is no more lingering tension between them in the elevator scene. It’s the way he says “I got you” not once but TWICE, as if he needs her to hear it. Needs to make sure she understands that he’s there not just in the moment, but he’s got her always. No matter what happens between them or with their jobs — and this comes back around in his wedding speech, as well. 🤧 But also, fave part of that scene? When he holds her tighter, leans his head against hers many times, and then closes his eyes. Cannot stand to hear her sobs, or see her in any kind of pain. Oh, my heart. My heaaaaaaart.
5. Rain check. Lots of great acting here. Is anyone surprised? No, but there’s a bit of a range of emotions in this particular scene and it’s acted so beautifully, I could write a whole paper. I’ll try and keep it brief (ha, yeah right). I don’t think Amanda would ever have a problem getting a man anytime anywhere, but I do think it was a big deal for her to ask this man out. I think maybe her intentions at the time may have been less than trying for a relationship, but she was open to trying something with him. I also think it was a big deal because it felt very planned. The outfit felt planned, the way she made him laugh, the hair toss an attempt to flirt. Though she also had this vulnerability about her that only exists with him. She’s putting herself out there, she’s saying that she’s willing to try and I think that is a big step for her, even if she was only open to a FWB situation (that totally 100% wouldn’t have worked bc *feelings*). Carisi, however, rejects her. You can see in his face that he’s so reluctant to do this but he does. Obviously, he’s had feelings for the woman for so long but is protecting himself. Almost like he knows she may think she’s ready to try something with him, but he also knew it wasn’t their time yet. Also, after he tells her he can’t, the immediate disappointment Amanda has? Heart-wrenching, tbh. She looks so upset and gets off from sitting on the edge of his desk so fast. Like. BABYYYYY.
Honorable Mentions: Threats! I’m kind of cheating here, but there’s nothing like an OTP that will kill for the other. I’m -of course- talking about Carisi’s “if Rollins gets shot over this, I’m gonna take ALL of them out.” And also Amanda’s message to Mesner: “if you go after Counselor Carisi or anyone in my family again, it will be your last day on earth. I’ll kill you myself.” Ooh, there’s something so secks see about being violently protective over your significant other. I don’t condone it irl, but let me have the ✨drama✨on tv.
