Tumblr media
As weeks went by, you spent less and less time on the village and more in the woods, with the company of your foreigner friend. You were stubborn so you were struggling to admit your feelings to yourself, knowing what that could bring you. You discovered new things about the world you lived in thanks to Loki, his extent knowledge always taking you aback. He was soft and caring but something in his demeanor denoted a strong feeling of loneliness, you never asked him about it though, maybe with time he would open up to you. Loki, on the other hand, was falling for your beauty and strength of spirit, a warrior indeed. You moved around the woods like you belonged there, swaying around like leaves on the wind.
The day Loki knew he loved you was the day you were sparring with him, you achieved to pin him on the soft grass your sword threatening to cut his throat open if he moved. Your faces were mere inches apart and you could feel his hot breath on your cold lips, for a brief moment you thought it was finally going to happen but the bubble burst when you heard a loud caw coming from a crow that was sitting on a branch, staring at you.
“Let’s go, it’s getting late.” You stood up and reached out to help him get up, a shiver ran down your spine when your hands made contact for the first time, something blooming warmly in your heart.
You walked slowly through the woods admiring how the moon lit the top of the trees, the dark green shades appearing to be silver. Loki was silently admiring you, how your hair flowed with the wind and the moonlight making your skin glow. A true goddess of the woods, he thought. He would have never thought he was capable of loving someone, but there you were, making his heart ache.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” You stopped dead in your tracks when you realized he had a weird expression on his face, maybe thinking that you did something to upset him. Loki’s eyes widened when you looked at him, confused and you also seemed to be scared, your eyes betraying you.
“I...uhm I think I...you have something in your hair.” He reached out to get it off your hair, a fake leaf he created to hide his true thoughts.
“Oh...okay, thank you.” You placed a strand of hair behind your ear and started walking, leaving Loki behind. He ran to you after he scolded himself, totally missing how you sighed heavily, longing for him. You were walking besides him really close, your hands brushing lightly, until you gathered the strength to intertwine your fingers with his. You heard his breath hitch but said nothing, smiling to yourself. Small victories, you thought.
Loki was hard to approach at first, you were sure he had secluded himself so deeply he forgot how to interact with someone, but as the first days went by, his actions changed, leading you to that exact moment.
Most of the nights, you slept at his hut but that night, something felt different. You could feel he was nervous and that made you aware that something you didn’t know was going on.
He stopped in front of his door and looked at you, his green eyes piercing yours. You instantly saw what was troubling him but you wanted, needed, to hear it from his own mouth.
“I’ve always thought I was incapable of bearing this kind of feelings in my chest, but you’ve set a fire inside that I’m not able to extinguish. And I do not have the will or power to do so.” He had his hand pressed on his left side of the chest, on top of his heart. Your eyes widened at his honesty and you were now able to see the love and adoration in his gaze. You placed your hand on top of his while you moved the other one to cup his cheek.
“Loki, my heart and soul are yours.” That’s all it took for him to close the space between you, his lips softly colliding against yours. Your eyes fluttered closed, your whole self melting into his arms. Loki let out a soft whimper and you moaned into his mouth, deepening the kiss, trying to pour all the love, adoration, passion and total surrender of your barriers.
Loki felt he was about to burst into flames, your breath filling his lungs with your sweet scent. He moved his hands to your waist, pulling you closer to him, your chest colliding to his, both of your hearts beating rapidly, pounding with lust. You ran your hands through his raven locks and pulled, making Loki’s breath hitch and you bit his bottom lip after tracing it with your tongue. He pulled apart trying to catch his breath and pressed his forehead against yours.
He slowly opened his eyes and watched you adoringly, both of your gazes full of desire.
“If we continue, I won’t be able to stop.” You said out of breath still right before Loki leaned in to kiss you again, this time more needy and intense.
“Then don’t.” He added, his voice low and hoarse.
-
“Do we really have to get out?” You whined at him, the coldness of the morning hitting your bare skin. Loki gave your dry lips a soft peck and got out of bed, in all his naked glory.
“We’ve been rolling on the bed for two days, Y/n. We really have to get out. We barely have food and water left.” You let out a sigh and grabbed his wrist before he could move further from the bed.
“I can think of a few very nutritional meals.” He looked at you amused by your insatiable thirst, but he would be lying if he said he wasn’t tempted by your offer, after all, he had the stamina of a god.
“Ástin mín (my love), just stay in bed and I’ll go find us something to eat.” You pouted but nodded, pulling the furs up to cover your body, watching him get dressed.
“Óst min, kyss mik (my love, kiss me.)” You tried to sound demanding but your voice trembled in anticipation, your lips longing for his, your body already missing his heat. He leaned in and pressed a kiss on top of your head, his hand cupping your cheek.
“I’ll be back before dawn, warm the bed for me.” You smiled at him lovingly and snuggled up in the bed, smelling Loki’s scent in the huge blanket.
Loki knew it would take him a few hours to hunt a big prey, so he started collecting fruits to eat and flowers to give you, knowing he could later find some meat on the village.
After a few hours he went back to the hut, some fresh stolen meat, a basket full of wild berries and daisies. He tried not to startle you so he opened the door slowly his heart swelling at the view in front of his eyes. You were sprawled on the bed, back facing the ceiling and arms tucked under the pillow, your breath blowing a few strands of hair back and forth from your face. He casted a fire, the woods from the fireplace lighting immediately and he also lit the candles, since it was already dark outside.
He approached the bed and sat besides you, leaning forward and trailing kisses up and down your naked back. You moaned half asleep and turned around, your eyes glancing at Loki half-lidded due to your sleepy state. You sat down and pressed your forehead to his chest, your hair covering your face. Loki hugged you and stroke your hair, rocking both of your bodies slowly.
“Are you okay?” You nodded, face still buried in his chest. You finally moved to look at him and smiled, reaching out to kiss him on the throat, a small and sweet peck.
“I’m starving. Can we please eat and then get back to bed?” He nodded smiling at your petition, standing up to cook the meat and prepare some herbal tea.
Months had passed since the first night you spent together, both of your new lives already established. You moved to Loki’s house since it was way bigger than yours, the spot where it was marvelous. You bought a few chickens, a cow and two horses, so you would always have food, milk and a way of transport. You never knew where Loki had gained all that money and when you asked, he always said it was from his father’s fortune.
You woke up one morning to an empty bed, thinking that maybe your lover went to gather some fruits or flowers as he usually did and as the morning went by, you tried to ignore the burning feeling that was settled on your chest, the feeling that something bad was going to happen. You were preparing some herbal tea when rain started to fall heavily on the roof of the hut, frowning, you went outside to check if it was really raining. It was very rare that it rained at this time of year, maybe the gods listened to someone’s prayers like they did with yours, it was the only logical explanation, for you at least. Loki on the other hand hurried through the woods to get to you knowing that you weren’t safe.
Just when the wooden house was in his field vision, he heard a scream, your scream, and it wasn’t coming from the house, so he ran, he ran so fast he thought his lungs were bleeding and oh god, how much he wanted that to be true because it wouldn’t be as painful as seeing what was in front of him.

Could you do a scenario where bakugou and the reader have a huge crush on eachother and they're both oblivious? Kirishima gives bakugou a dare to kiss the next person who walks through the door and at first he's like "what no, fuck off" then when the reader walks in, he's like "fine, only because you dared me to" thank you!!!!💘💖💘💟
Aaaaaaaa !! This was a cute ask and I loved it so much. I hope you like it! There was no gender that was specifically assigned so I made it gender neutral, I hope you don’t mind. It also got p long-Bomb
They sighed, picking attheir lunch food with the chopsticks in their hand. Their other hand rested ontheir cheek, pointer finger tapping on their cheek bone. They sighed again, this time, a breathier one, moving the soba around the plate and to the veryedge before picking it up and letting it fall onto the plate again
“You’re going to fillthe air with more carbon dioxide than oxygen at this rate, s/o” Kirishima said, picking up some of his meal and putting it into his mouth, his sharp and sharklike teeth easily tearing the hunk of meat to shreds
“Oh shut it.” Theysmiled, putting down their chopsticks
“Are you still thinkingof him? Now? While you’re eating?” Sero looked at them with a concerned face, seeing their soba not touched
“Ah, im sorry. I just, can’t stop?” They picked up their chopsticks again and grabbed some soba withthem, filtering it into their mouth and sucking them up, chewing on the noodlesto keep their mouth occupied
“No its just, this isthe third day in a row I haven’t seen you eat a whole meal because youve beenmore and more focused on Bakugou”
They chewed their food, their eyebrows crinkling as a confused and mufflednoise came from their throat. Had they really not been eating because they werethinking about him so much? Oops… that would explain the increased after schoolappetite and why they were so hungry at the end of the day. They swallowedtheir food, and voiced a part of their thoughts
“Have I really not beeneating?”
“Yeah. You should reallyeat bro, or i’m gonna have to start feeding you.” Kaminari butted in, liftinghis arm across the table with a piece of Yakitori that he picked today, sinceLunch Rush was lacking his usual favorite hamburgers today
They backed away, butKaminari kept moving forward. His efforts to make them eat some of his chosenmeal were futile, as a flaming ash haired blond came in unusually late, slamming his hand on the table, smoking and about to explode. His mouth wassculpted into his usual scowl and frown, and beautiful crimson eyes locked ontoKaminari
“They can eat their owndamn food, Pikachu! Now get your arm off the table before I blow it off!”Bakugou, s/o’s long time crush since the sports festival, yelled at Kaminari
He backed off, butinstead of a scared look, he was smirking at Sero and Kirishima, like he knewsomething s/o and Bakugou didn’t
S/o cocked their head atthem, but got distracted when Bakugou forcefully moved them over into the boothseat, but it wasn’t quite aggressive, more like a guiding touch to teach themto move over when he comes around. He placed his rather large hand on theirshoulder, not smoking anymore as he placed his other hand on their knee, movingthem against the wall
They made a small noiseof surprise when their entire body moved with ease, and their Soba was placedin front of them as Bakugous Tantanmen was put in their place
They could still feelBakugou’s hands lingering on their skin, even if they weren’t near their bodyanymore. It’s like his touch was being scanned and printed onto their skin, leaving a mark that would soon fade away
Their face became alittle warm. Why didn’t he just shove them to the side? He would have done thatwith anyone else? Maybe he’s tired. Yeah, he’s just tired, he probably doesn’thave the energy to be rude like that
They shook their headand picked up their chopsticks once more and put some more soba on them, dipping them into the sauce. They sunk into the dark sauce, soaking up itscontents before they were picked back up, dripping wet as they put them intotheir mouth, slurping them up
“GUYSSSS!!!” A highpitched voice came running across the lunch room. The owner of the voice landedin front of the booth, revealing none other than Mina, a happy smile all acrossher face as her caramel pupils lit up with a new light contrasting to her jetblack sclera
Her voice scared themfrom the peace of their noodles, and for the 4th time this lunch period, theyset down their lunch and just opted to not eat anymore as they slid the tray tothe middle of the table, crossing their arms and leaning into the seat with ascowl resembling Bakugou’s on their face
“Hey, Ashido! What’sup?” Kaminari greated her, pulling a Yakitori ball off his skewer and chewingit as Kirishima greeting her as well
“Guess what?!” Sheasked, but before anyone could respond, she blurted it out anyway. “Aizawaisn’t assigning homework over the weekend so we’re free to do whatever wewant!” She jumped into the seat that sat Bakugou and S/o, pushing Bakugou intothem
His instincts kicked inand he reached over S/o with his right arm, grabbing onto the booth wall thatseparated them from the next booth over as well as grabbing the table with hisleft hand, preventing his body from ramming into theirs
By this time, S/o hadtried to take cover from Bakugou into them, holding their forearm in front ofthem as if to protect them from Bakugou falling into them. And when they feltnothing, they looked up, seeing themself trapped between the seat and Bakugou
Bakugou’s eyes weresqueezed shut, like he was anticipating himself to have crashed into them. Butwhen he opened his eyes, he was no more than a few inches away from S/o’s face.He could see colorful specks of similar color to their eyes in them, creating amystical glow. He could see their lashes, and he could feel their body heat
Unfortunately, themoment lasted no more than a few seconds before Bakugou’s face got a warm hueto it, and he turned himself around, giving Mina an earful as he tried towrestle his hand to her face, palms smoking as he was prepared to fire a shotat her
Bakugou’s head wasfilled with the image of their face. How perfect it looked underneath him. Howthey curiously stared up at him, as if confused by the way he put his armsaround them, shielding them from himself crashing into them with a hurtfulforce. Why did he do that? And why didn’t they look scared of him as everyoneelse would? Why didn’t they fear him?
They must be underestimating him, that’s what it is! They were underestimatinghim! His crush of all people was underestimating him! Damn…
“Aaa!! Bakugou Im sorry!I’ll move!” Ashido screeched as Bakugou was still seething with anger, handssmoking as she escaped his grasp, going to the other side of the booth andweaving her way in between Kaminari and Kirishima
“You better be sorry! Ialmost just crushed S/o into a flapjack!” He yelled, pointing an accusingfinger at her while she hid between the two
“And why should you careabout whether you crushed them or not, hm?” Kaminari asked, holding a straightface as he continued to eat his meal. Everyone looked to Bakugou, staring athim for an answer
Bakugou opened his mouthto yell at him, but he couldn’t find the words to say, as the reason why wasbecause he liked them, but they were right fucking there!!!!! He couldn’t justsay it!!!! Even for as blunt and rude of a guy he is, this was something hecouldn’t say!!!!
S/o seemed to notice theuncomfortable and frustrated energy coming off of him as he couldn’t find ananswer, so as to not make their hopes run higher than they already were, theyturned to Ashido, asking her a clarification question
“Really? No homework?Why?”
It seemed to cause a largeenough distraction from Bakugou as the table turned their attention to the pinkgirl, awaiting an answer
Her face lit up like astar as she sat back up, clapping her hands. “I don’t know!! That’s just thething though. Since there’s no homework tonight, what do you guys think about asleepover?!” Her hands clapped together excitedly, looking towards everyone“Ah, sorry, I can’t. My mother is coming down with a cold and I have to bethere all weekend to take care of her so my dad can catch up on workdays thathe missed.” Sero admitted sadly
“Aw, it’s ok Sero. Yourmother’s health is important, we understand.” S/o leaned forward, her bodyslightly pressing against Bakugous as they across the table and took Seros handin their, giving it a squeezeHis cheeks blushed barely noticeable, but he smiled and nodded. If Bakugou hadto be honest, he had to stop himself from relaxing his face to stare at s/o,seeing them able to calm someone down and brighten their mood in nearly aninstant was something he liked in their character, something that he couldn’tdo, but would be great for their hero work“That’s too bad Sero. I’ll come though Mina, I got you” Kaminari ate the lastof his Yakitori, sliding the empty dish to the middle
“And i’d love to cometoo Mina, I don’t have anything to do and my parents are gonna be out of townfor a few days in a business trip, so the house is gonna be a little lonelywhile they’re gone”
“Yay!! What about youKirishima? Bakugou?”
“Sure, why not? Soundsfun” Kirishima put the last of his meat in his mouth, sliding his dish to themiddle of the table where s/o’s and Kaminaris sat, empty
“Like hell i’ll come.”Bakugou spat out, eating his Tantanmen in large mouthfuls
“Aw. Come on Bakugou! It’s going to be fun at Mina’s house! I’m sure of it!” they pinched his sleevebetween the side of the pointer finger and clamping it with their thumb, tugging it
“Yeah dude! It’s Minashouse for All Mights sake, you gotta know it’s fun!” Kirishima came in as well, leaning across the table with a little smile on his face seeing s/o’s realizinglook of what they just did, and seeing Bakugou not so scowly anymore
“Pleaaaase Bakugou?”Mina clapped her hands together and laced her fingers, holding them in front ofher as if to beg him
He growled, turning awayfrom S/o as he begrudgingly agreed to go
Everyone cheered as thebell to signal lunch time was over, and everyone grabbed their food and placedit in their respectable waste bins before putting the reusable trays into adrop bin, making their way to their next class
“Where are they?!” Minacomplained for the sixth time in fifteen minutes, not seeing S/o walk insidethe door yet. Bakugou and Kirishima had arrived for the sleepover early, andwere now sitting on the couch in more comfortable attire“Maybe they’re just running late? Did you try texting them?” Kirishima reachedfor his phone, ready to text them“I already did shitty hair.” Bakugou barked across the room, shutting off hisphone and putting it into his pocket. “S/o’s shitty fucking dog sitter was sickso they had to hurry and bring it to their aunts. They’ll be here in ten minutes”
“Ok… what aboutKaminari?”
“You really expect me tokeep tabs on the fucking Pikachu all damn day?”
“But you keep tabs onS/o?”
“Shut the hell up shittyhair!” His face flashed into a red hue
Suddenly, Kirishima’sphone got a buzz, the screen lighting up with a message from none other thanKaminari
“Kaminari will be alittle late, he said he’ll also be here in ten minutes”
“Yay!!! They didn’t bailon us!” Mina’s limbs seemed to just shoot up in the air as she fell back intothe armchair, happy
“No shit, raccoon eyes”
The next few minuteswere spent in solemn silence, none of them realizing just how unalive the groupis without Kaminari or S/o here to lighten things up and cause a riot. TillKirishima suggested they play a game while they wait
“Oooo, what kinda game?”Mina asked, propping herself up in the chair right, sliding down it and towardsthe coffee table in the middle of the room
“I don’t know, truth ordare? Just something simple before they both arrive”
“Oooo, I haven’t playedthat game in a while! Come on Bakugou, get down here and play!” Mina urgedBakugou to the floor as Kirishima slid off his chosen couch, seating himselfnext to the table
“No way in hell am Igoing to play a little kids game-” He began, but Kirishima cut him off. “Great!I’ll start off. Bakugou. I dare you to kiss whoever walks in through that doornext.” Kirishima smiled a toothy smile, showing every single shark and sharklike tooth that Bakugou wanted to knock right the hell out of his head
“Excuse me?! Who thehell do you think you are?! No way in hell am I going to do tha-”His voice fellshort again as the door to the living room swung open, revealing S/o in a warmsweater and sweatpants, fit for the cool weather of the summer nights. It wasgreatly oversized, probably coming from their fathers closet rather than theirown, making them look smaller
“Sorry guys! Dog sittergot sick out of nowhere!” They kicked their shoes off at the door, closing itwith a click of the doorknob
Bakugou was shockedstill, Mina and Kirishima looking from S/o to Bakugou as they sat next to him.His mouth was stupidly agape as he looked at them. It wasn’t till he heardstifled giggling that he was released from his trance, eyes flickering toKirishima for a brief moment before he spoke
“Fine, but only becauseyou dared me to.” He turned to S/o, seeing them confused. He imagined himselfaggressively grabbing their face and turning their head towards himself, buthis actions were much more calming and less violent than his imagination
His hand reached out ashis scowl released from his face, becoming more and more worryful with everysecond that passed. They barely had time to react before his lips were placedon theirs
Mina and Kirishimawhistled at the both of them, watching as S/o’s eyes fluttered closed and theykissed back
Kaminari opened thedoor, hearing the whistling too as he saw the both of the them kissing, andjoined in too, taking out his phone and recording the scene
“It’s about time theyfound out! I was about to opt for plan B and just lock them in a closet!”
“There was a plan B?!”

Note
give me your experience in full detail about harry’s show... i need to mentally prepare myself for msg
1. there is nothing that can prepare you for the moment he first comes on stage. its indescribable. we spend so much time on here reblogging pictures and videos and interacting with content about or surrounding harry, that you can sometimes lose touch with the actual human person who its all for and about. but when you see him, its just.... amazing. theres not a strong enough word for it. and to be in a room where everyone is feeling that way? the palpable excitement and joy?? you can feel it in your blood
2. i know this point has been exhausted by anyone and everyone, but he is truly meant to be a performer. we knew this from when he was in 1d but nothing will ever touch him being on his own. you can tell that having the band up there makes him feel more comfortable, and given how much he interacts with them and makes them a part of the show, you know that him doing his ~solo stuff~ is not about trying to hog the spotlight. he’s a self-proclaimed narcissist, but dont be fooled; harry styles is a ham but he’s not selfish or arrogant. he still needs his support group, he still needs to be able to shard a bond with the people he performs with so that he can be confident and comfortable, and try to afford them the same. he works the stage like its the only thing he’ll ever do, giving it 110% with the most genuine adoration for his audience that ive seen from anyone, ever. he doesnt just wave blindly or make grand sweeping gestures. he looks at people, really looks at people, and tries to make a connection with individual people in a room full of thousands. im pretty sure if he had the time to do that with every single person, he would. he’s chatty and loves to joke, talking to people like theyre old friends, and just for a moment, he turns the dynamic between fan and celebrity on its head. he’s hardly ever still, moving and bopping along like he’s in his own little world, but that world also happens to house the audience and everyone else in the room. youre standing there, 1 of thousands of people, and you can feel like youre one-on-one with him. he’s just incredibly personable and good-natured. and then when he’s not being a professional nice young man, he’s exploding with energy and utilizing the entire stage and all of his limbs. ‘born for it’
3. he’s so funny. he’s goofy and charming and not afraid to be weird or awkward, and its just really admirable, to see him up there, clearly having a great time, laughing and smiling. i loved seeing the more ~private~ moments between him and the band, if anything can be considered private when performing. but he’s constantly grinning at them and making faces, sharing silent jokes or saying things in passing that we cant hear. and of course, you never quite know whats gonna come out of his mouth next when he spots someone or something that earns his attention from the audience. he pokes fun at people but he also pokes fun at himself. it’s just nice. comfortable, even, when he talks to people from the crowd. if youre in the back and out of range for what he can see, and he can make you feel like the only two people there, i cant even begin to imagine what it must be like when he has his laser beam focus on you, directly.
4. his voice is incredible. all of the little runs and ad-libs that he does are great. i remember reading a quote from a while ago, when he was still in 1d, and someone had said that harry has a great ear and that harmonies and other such things come really easy to him. and i always think about that when i hear him sing live, whether in concert or in a video. the tone quality of his voice is so beautiful, even when its being amplified to crazy decibels. you can tell he puts his whole heart and soul into every song he sings, whether its a slow one like mmith or the absolute banger that is kiwi. and its so fun to hear his renditions of old 1d songs -- the arrangements are so good and its so nice to hear those songs with just his voice. sott is still just That Song™ and hearing it live is something that stays with you forever.
5. THE OUTFIT. when the screen went up, i was so excited to simply see him that i wasnt even thinking about ‘oh what is he wearing’ until about 5 minutes in when i realized that i was no other than harris reed. harry has always marched to the beat of his own drum, and we’ve poked fun at his fashion sense for years, from the toe-revealing brown boots, to the double plaid button downs. and it wasnt really until the white gucci floral suit that, in my opinion, he started to really come out of his fashion shell in a big, loud, in your face way. its been so interesting to watch him experiment over the years with different trends, different styles, different vibes, etc. but now he’s still just as adventurous, if not MORE, but in a really refined and arguably more cohesive way. because while all of his outfits are different and wild, the unpredictability and diversity make up a category all on their own; they common thread among them is that they’re all so unique. and while we might not like every single look or every single suit, no one can deny that he’s going out there and putting his own stamp on the men’s fashion world. look at the number of little boys who adore him and put on printed suits to be like him. what he’s doing matters. and he looks so comfortable and so in his element when he’s on stage, wearing whatever flowy or glitter ensemble thats on the docket for that evening, prancing around and looking like he doesnt have in care in the world that his trousers are flared and he has a giant silky bow around his neck. i love that he appreciates new and adventurous designs, and it really pays tribute to his character that he supports different designers, like harris reed, whos still in school and is getting the recognition he deserves, 100% on his own merit but also because harry helped boost his platform. harry is doing his own thing, doing the whole glitz and glamour performance thing, but none of it feels cheap or over the top. its just right and really reflects his personality and style. go on with ur bad self, harry.
6. the butt. what can i say? its now an element of the show. she’s plump and proud. he worked hard to get her where she is and she deserves to be showed off. like two beautiful melons draped in fabric, whether it be a solid color, black, a print, or glitter. she does it all. and she does it well. AND shes au natural. no fat transfers here. just smooth, firm but also pleasantly supple, muscle and butt meat. surely youve heard of all you can eat buffets, but his butt takes it to a whole new level. that is a multi-course meal and then some. the glass of water you have when you wake up in the morning, parched and in need of something to help your dry mouth; breakfast, something healthy but still delicious... some thick maple and brown sugar oatmeal; lunch, a perfectly toasted grilled cheese with tomato soup; dinner, some top sirloin steak because you need some MEAT, accompanied by potatoes and another less starchy vegetable, perhaps a green bean?; dessert, cake of course. and all the snack in between. delicious.

Chapter 10/10
Tumblr media
You and Woojin were now at the hotel, tired after a long time in the airport, waiting for your flight. The only exciting thing was that both of you were in first class, because of your guys’ status.
You were currently lounging on the hotel bed, reading a brochure from the company you were about to work with. Woojin was at the terrace the room came with, looking over the view of the temple in the distance. It was four in the afternoon, and the sun was close to setting. Your shoot was scheduled at five thirty, and you were weighing the probability of you being late. Mark was scheduled to arrive at the hotel thirty minutes later, failing to catch the same flight with you.
You get up and head to the bathroom, deciding on taking a bath for your skin to get refreshed. It was only twenty minutes and you were falling asleep, when someone knocked on the door. You wake up, attempting to sit up. The bath was full enough to cover your chest, but apparently, it wasn’t enough for Woojin to not freak out.
He poked his head in, eyes widening when he realized you were kind of naked. “What the hell, why are you naked!” he shouted, closing his eyes and leaning on the door. Your muffled voice from the inside shouted about what kind of person you were to bathe with clothes on.
He shook his head, “Anyways, Mark is here, and a manager told me to tell you to be on standby, you’re leaving in twenty minutes.”
With that remark, you rush to get ready, realizing you left your dress (really, all you owned were dresses since putting on two articles of clothing took way too much energy) on the bed. So you just suck it up and put on your underwear, leaving the bathroom with a towel on.
Unsurprisingly, Woojin shrieked again, complaining that you’re breaking the first rule. You roll your eyes and slip on the orange romper, slipping on your sandals before going to Mark’s room.
“Knock knock,” you say, peeking inside the room to see your trusty make up assistant eating an overpriced hamburger he ordered off of room service. His eyes widen as he sees you, making a noise as a greeting as you let yourself in, looking at what the television was playing.
“So, I heard you’re getting married,” he says, putting the meat sandwich down and wiping off the grease surrounding his lips.
You roll your eyes, “Oh Tuan, if you actually put your good looks to use and woo someone, I’m sure you’d win someone over.” You settled on your make-up chair, which he insisted on carrying over to every shoot, just for you guys to be aesthetic. He actually gifted it to you on your sixteenth birthday, and the first time you get paid for something, you bought these pouches that hold makeup to hang at the side of the chair, as well as this fancy black suitcase for all the makeup samples he gets.
Mark rolls his eyes, although four years older than you, you guys acted like best friends since he was there for you from the very beginning. As he gets started on your face, you remember the time when he was still a beginner, experimenting on your face and laughing when you get a pimple from an irritating foundation he put on you.
“Hey,” you begin to say as he puts on eye shadow on you.
He mumbles a ‘what’, concentrating on blending the pigments on your lid.
“Can you be like, walk me down the aisle.” He stops and reels back, looking at you weirdly. You blink open and see him judging you, and you begin to whine.
“Come on! You’re like, my best friend, and yeah i know what you’re gonna say, but you’ve been there for me longer than my dad has been, and you know...” you trail off, failing to make up more excuses. Sure it would be controversial for your dad not to walk you down the aisle, but he didn’t deserve it.
He thinks about it for a moment, before smiling at you fondly. “Fine, I’ll walk you.” He ruffles your hair, making you whine some more.
After finishing your look, the two of you head down to the hotel lobby, meeting up with the manager for her to take you to the venue.
...
The shoot was successful, the photographer taking advantage of the golden hour. The diamonds you wore on your ears shined, along with the highlight on your cheekbones. The bridge you shot in overlooked the ocean, making the scene look so magical, and you were thankful that you were allowed to shoot there. Honestly? You looked bomb af.
You looked like you were dipped in honey, and you were being praised by the different personnel, claiming that after this was published, you would rise to even more success. You were feeling so happy, and you just got even happier when you spotted Woojin.
It was already night time, and the staff allowed you two to take a stroll while they packed up equipment. You were both walking around, swinging your hands back and forth. You ended up back at the bridge, and most of the equipment was cleared. They were now trying to shove them back into the van, playing a dangerous game of tetris.
You enjoyed the night breeze, laying your head on Woojin’s shoulder, his arm snaking around your waist.
“Hey,” he whispered, looking out into the blue.
“Hey.” You whispered back, the wind and the sound of the waves crashing over rocks almost drowning out your voice.
Suddenly, Woojin turns to you. “You did great earlier.”
You smirked, loving the compliment. “I know, you really should be thankful that you’re marrying me. I mean, when will you ever get the chance to spend you whole entire life with someone as gorgeous as me?” Sure you were over confident, but Woojin would have to deal with that, he was stuck with you, after all.
His eyes never leaved yours. “Yeah, you’re probably the most gorgeous person I’ve ever met. Sure you’re a bit bitchy, but we can always work on that,” he chuckled at your expression. “I’m so lucky to have you in my life. These past days have been so much fun, and believe me when I say my life is boring. It’s always work, work, work, and you’ve showed me so much emotion that my black and white world got corrupted with color. I know that with all these going on, I haven’t had the time to properly propose to you, but while you were out here flaunting, I’ve stumbled upon this little antique shop and got you a little something.”
You were speechless. It didn’t cross your mind that you didn’t have an engagement ring, or the fact that Woojin hasn’t proposed to you yet.
He took out a little pouch from his pocket, fumbling over the strings. “I hope you like it. I know it isn’t as fancy and as shiny as all the other rings you’ve worn in your lifetime, but it’s pretty cool, if I do say so myself.”
You laughed as he opened the brown bag, revealing a white gold band with an oval cut diamond right at the center of it. Your eyes widened, realizing how expensive this is, and the fact that it was old...
You let out a tiny little gasp as Woojin got down on one knee. You could hear other gasps too, most likely the crew you worked with.
“So, let’s make this simple, will you make me the happiest man alive, fill my world with color, let me tame you,” at this point you were laughing, full on knowing that those are your father’s words, “Will you marry me? Please?”
His eyes were shining, solely focused on you. You can’t help but let a tear fall as you nod, letting him slip on the ring. It fit perfectly, like it was made to be yours.
“I got a little help from the staff, they let me get your ring size.” Woojin chuckled as he stood up, trapping you in his embrace.
Claps and hollers were heard from far away, and the two of you turn to see Mark jumping up and down wildly, shouting “That’s the girl y’all called arrogant! Look at her now with the man of your dreams!”
You both laughed, looking back at each other, sharing your first kiss. He leaned his forehead onto yours, smiling brightly.
“I could get used to this.”

Cellulite Tips And Advice Straight From The Beauty Experts
youtube
Women all over the world think that seeing cellulite on their body is perhaps one of the more disheartening things to see. If you’re tired of this condition, read the tips listed here.
Apply moisturizer often. There are many reasons why you should do this. It can also help combat cellulite. Gently massage your trouble spots as you are applying the moisturizer. The massaging motion can reduce cellulite by breaking up the deposits of fat under the skin.
TIP! Try moisturizing skin daily with lotion. This helps for a variety of reasons.
Exercising and trying to target the areas that are prone to cellulite can produce great results. Try to bike or run to get rid of cellulite on the buttocks, hips, and hips.
Drinking water can help you battle your cellulite. Water can help prevent cellulite from occurring rather than curing it. It works because it helps keep skin healthy and hydrated. Water also flush out toxins that can cause cellulite. Try to have at least six to eight glasses of water every day.
If you want to get rid of cellulite, your diet could be the answer. You should be consuming enough vegetables and fruits daily. Veggies and fruits in your diet leave an alkaline ash in your body that helps your appearance. A good way to get nutrients from fruits and veggies is juicing.
TIP! If you wish to rid yourself of cellulite, what you eat may be your answer. Make sure to consume lots of veggies and fruit.
Diet may be the key to losing your cellulite. Make sure that you eat lots of veggies and vegetables. They leave an alkaline ash behind that can help to make sure your body looks its best. Juicing is a great way to meet the daily serving you need as well.
Eat food that include healthy oils and stay hydrated. What is doing this so important?Hydrated skin isn’t as much dimpling from cellulite. This is a very simple way of fighting cellulite.
Cosmetic surgery is something many turn to when they want to eliminate cellulite, but this is not a great option. Surgery comes with complications and there are many other ways to reduce cellulite on your body. Surgery should only be considered once all avenues have been tried.
TIP! Plastic surgery should only be a last resort for getting rid of your cellulite. Surgery comes with complications and there are many other ways to reduce cellulite on your body.
When you feel lots of stress, the hormone Cortisol is let loose in your body. This is a hormone makes your body store more fat storage and thins out skin. Yoga and meditation are two great ways to relieve some of the stress that causes cellulite.
Try not to get stressed out. Stress can be a contributor to cellulite. Do some yoga or meditate to relieve stress.Go for lengthy walks that are long and relaxing. Find a stress reliever that’s right for you, and make sure you’re getting enough sleep every night.
You can reduce the look of cellulite by eating a healthy diet. Eating high fiber and whole grain foods helps to remove any toxins that may be in your body which can make cellulite worse. Water is a great addition to a good diet if you want to cut down on cellulite.
Water is the battle against cellulite. Your skin becomes more supple when you drink a result.
Reduce your stress wherever possible. Stress can change the balance of hormones in your brain and body. These hormonal changes can lead to your body holding onto fats in ways that you’d rather it not. Reducing stress can help you look better physically.
Drink copious amounts of water to beat cellulite. The more you’re drinking, the better your skin will look. Hydration can flush out the free radicals in your body too, keeping your skin taut. That translates into great looking skin that will keep cellulite away.
TIP! When dealing with cellulite problems, water is the main combatant. The greater the amount you intake, the suppler and plumper your skin will look and feel.
Do you need a way to get rid of your cellulite for good? A massage helps to remove the lumps and tight again. Whether your husband gives you a massage or you have a spa day, you can see results quickly.
Try specialized serums that are formulated to reduce cellulite; they can often reduce the number of dimples in your skin. Nivea and other skin care companies have these products available.
You must understand that cellulite alone does not necessarily evidence an unhealthy weight or lifestyle. Nearly all women have cellulite, and it is very hard to rid yourself of. Don’t let something most women also have make you feel unattractive.
TIP! Try to realize that having cellulite on your body does not mean that you are unhealthy or need to lose weight. It is something that plagues most women and is frustrating since it is so hard to address.
Try and focus on changes to your lifestyle in order to get rid of or reduce cellulite. There are many products and procedures that claim to be effective in the treatment of cellulite, there is not enough science to backup their claims. A good diet and regular exercise can help to maintain good hormone levels. Avoid major stress and anything that can have an abnormal affect on hormone production.
Smoking affects the body’s ability of your body to handle toxins. This can make your body is not likely to be elastic as it was intended. If you’re currently a smoker, try cutting down to help your body heal itself.
Reduce the stress and anxiety that you face on a daily basis. Stress can change the balance of hormones in your body whether you realize it or not. This can translate into higher levels of fact and cellulite. Being less stressed can help you look smoother in these areas.
Add cardio exercises to your daily exercise program.High impact cardio will get rid of cellulite. These will get these problem areas and burn fat.
Since there are not many tricks to getting rid of cellulite, focus on skin. Men usually don’t have cellulite because the male epidermis is naturally thicker.
Tanning can help to make cellulite less obvious. While tanning won’t make it disappear, it will help the cellulite to be much less obvious. Sun exposure is not recommended, but using a spray on tan or self-tanning lotions could be effective. Just be sure to be extremely cautious about the brand you by and your application method.
TIP! Tanning helps hide existing cellulite. Tanning is not a cure for cellulite, but it is a way to make it more difficult to see.
To get rid of cellulite, consider working on the muscle tone in your buttocks, thigh, and legs. You will also be able to slim these exercises and make them stronger.
Don’t eat a lot of carbs before exercising. This can reduce the body to have trouble releasing fat while you exercise. This can affect your cellulite in terms of cellulite. The proper time to eat carbs is within 5 minutes after completing the exercise routine.
Consider a body brush as a tool to manage your cellulite. This works to eliminate dead skin particles. Also, it will facilitate lymphatic flow as well as increase your circulation. This encourages skin cell draining. Skin cell draining can result in less cellulite. Try doing it twice a day using long strokes for best results.
TIP! Treat cellulite with a body brush. It will help remove dead skin cells.
Using scrubs or soaps that have caffeine in them can tighten and strengthen skin, making the cellulite less visible. Massaging also break up the fat and cause it to distribute more evenly in that area of your body.
Essential Fatty Acids
Try using a cellulite reducing serum that will get rid of some of the skin dimpling you’re dealing with. Certain caffeinated products and supplements can aid in the reduction of cellulite within weeks. Nivea and other skin care companies offer these products.
TIP! There are products on the market you can use to cut down on cellulite. Check the ingredients for caffeine, which is a great cure for cellulite-ridden skin; sometimes products like this can show an improvement in two weeks.
Be certain that your diet has a sufficient amount of essential fatty acids within the foods that you eat. You might have previous thought fats should be avoided altogether, but that is not always true. These types of fatty acids build connective tissue building that help prevent cellulite. So search for healthy foods that contain essential fatty acids and enjoy them.
A coffee scrub can break down fat stored under your skin. Use warm coffee grounds and apply with a cloth. Wrap your cellulite in plastic to the keep those grounds stay warm.Keep it on for 10 minutes at the minimum.
Add exercises for cardio to the workouts that you do every day. Though you may work out daily, low impact workouts will not do as much to diminish cellulite. You need high impact exercises, even if you do them in short intervals throughout your day. These will help tone those problem areas and burn fat.
TIP! Incorporate cardio exercise in your workout routine daily. Low impact exercises don’t really combat cellulite that well.
Protein helps collagen and elastin production under skin. This will keep cellulite controlled. Foods rich in protein are nuts, fish, fish, turkey and other lean meats are great sources of protein.
Make sure you have enough protein intake. To eradicate cellulite, eat the necessary amount of protein daily. Try to get about three servings of some lean proteins like fish and fish.
Massage the areas where you’ve got troublesome cellulite. If you spend just a few minutes here and there a couple times a day massaging your trouble spots, then you may just see your cellulite decrease. Increased blood flow to those areas makes your skin thicker, and can make cellulite less obvious.
TIP! If there are areas on your body that you are not happy with, massage them. By spending a little time massaging trouble spots for a few minutes throughout the day, you can often improve your problem.
Drinking water can help decrease the cellulite you have. Water contains less calories and it adds strength to your skin’s collagen stronger. This will also makes sure you won’t have that dimpled look at the back of your legs.
It might be embarrassing, but keeping the skin hydrated and well-circulated is sure to firm things up.
If cellulite is a problem, you may want to toss out the table salt. Consuming too much table salt leads to water retention, which then leads to cellulite. Buy salt with reduced sodium or better still, pick up some sea salt. Sea salt has a great taste!
TIP! Give up salt if cellulite is a problem. Salt water will lead to water retention and increase cellulite.
One method for reducing cellulite is by using a massage tool that is motorized. The massaging helps break down fat cells. This will also stretch collagen fibers which makes cellulite less noticeable.
Don’t feel lazy if you are affected with cellulite. Many women that are in good shape still get cellulite, and lots of other people have to deal with it as well. These tips have given you some inspiration as to where to start the process of acquiring smooth, beautiful skin.
If you want to make the dermal cells in your body stronger, focus on eating any type of food that contains a lot of lecithin. Both soy foods and apples are high in lecithin. Eat them as often as you can. A salad with these ingredients can make for a good lunch if you want to be healthy.

How To Have An Epic Tailgate Without Packing On The Pounds
The weathers cooling down, pumpkin spice is in the air and football season has arrived. This also heralds the arrival of one anticipated thing in football-crazed towns around the country: tailgating.
If youre trying to be healthy, though, a tailgate is really the last place you want to be, thanks to the massive amounts of beer and potato chips.
But while theyre generally characterized by greasy foods and heavy drinking, there are plenty of ways to make your tailgates this fall a little healthier and safer.
Prepare well in advance.
The morning of the tailgate is not the time to start planning your day. Youll just end up stressing yourself out and forget something important. Its best to develop a plan earlier in the week and then start preparing the day before.
Here are some items youll definitely want to include on the list: Lots of ice, utensils, napkins, plates, cups, water bottles, grilling items, sunscreen, sunglasses and mosquito repellant, among other things.
There are obviously tons of other items youll end up packing, but these are some of the basic necessities that you shouldnt forget especially for early fall games.
Get some sleep.
The night before a long day of tailgating is important. You dont want to go out partying and bar hopping until the wee hours of the morning.
Instead, have a casual night at home with some friends and try to get some sleep. All of the following days activities will require some energy the last thing you want is to be hungover and grouchy.
Eat a good breakfast.
When you wake up on the morning of the game, take your time and eat a solid breakfast. People often forget about this all-important meal and then end up regretting the decision later.
It could be hours before youre actually able to eat, which is not a good thing, especially if you end up drinking alcohol. But even if theres food, your hunger will leave you guzzling unhealthy carbs and greasy snacks. Eat some breakfast and youll avoid these issues.
Choose healthy foods.
Speaking of tailgating food, bring some healthy options with you. Hopefully others will bring some healthy menu items along as well, but you cant count on it.
Theres plenty of recipes you can try. Ditch the queso and guacamole and instead, opt for a healthy black bean and corn salad.
It takes just a few minutes to make and each serving contains 110 calories, four grams of protein and four grams of fiber. Pair it with some whole-grain chips for an easy to-go snack.
Or theres greek yogurt deviled eggs. Everyone loves deviled eggs, but they arent the healthiest option. That recipe swaps out mayonnaise for greek yogurt, which makes it a little healthier and actually, even tastier.
One of my favorites isparmesan-crusted zucchini fries. Bye-bye grease and hello zucchini! This isnt the healthiest recipe in the world, but were talking about fries here. These are better for you than your average fries and make for a fun and unique finger food.
Theres a healthy twist for just about any tailgating staple do some research and see what you can find.
Dont overcook the meat.
Rush University Medical Centersays,
Darkness is a great background for fireworks, but it may be harmful when it comes to the color of barbecued meat. If cooked at high heat for a long amount of time, grilled meat creates an unhealthy compound called heterocyclic amine that may increase the risk of cancer.
Heterocyclic amines are chemicals that form when muscle meat such as beef, pork or poultry is cooked directly over an open flame. They form when amino acids, sugars and creatine react at high temperatures and have been linked to higher rates of tumor development in the breast, liver, colon, skin, prostrate and lungs.
If you arent the grill master and have no say how the meat is cooked, you can always cut off the blackened portions. However, its still possible these heterocyclic amines are present in other parts of the meat, so keep that in mind.
Step away from the snack table.
When you find yourself at the tailgate, be careful with where you position yourself. If youre standing next to the food table talking with friends, youll find yourself snacking more than you realize.
This sort of mindless grazing is what will get you in trouble. Take just a few steps away and continue your conversations. Youre much less likely to stop your conversation and walk to grab a snack, which will help keep your calorie intake down.
Put on sunscreen and avoid unnecessary exposure.
If its a game early in the season, chances are the temperature will be very hot. This is especially true if youre down south. Take extra precautions to ensure you dont get overheated or sunburned.
While you dont want to wear a bunch of layers in the heat, a light UV protective shirt such as the ones Columbia Sportswear sellsare ideal. Additionally, apply sunscreen, wear sunglasses and keep a hat nearby.
The last thing you want to do is end up passing out or getting burnt to a crisp on a day thats supposed to be filled with fun!
Stay hydrated.
Combine heat, salty foods and alcohol and it can leave you with unwanted side effects which include nausea, headaches, fatigue and even vomiting. In addition to spending time in the shade and protecting yourself from the heat, its crucial you stay hydrated when tailgating.
Try avoiding drinks that have high sugar content, such as soda and fruit juices. These absorb slowly in the body and will leave you feeling lethargic later in the day. And of course, always drink lots of water.
Be a responsible drinker.
Alcohol is a big part of tailgating for many football fans. And while theres nothing wrong with enjoying a drink or two, make sure youre being a responsible drinker.
Make sure you arent drinking too fast. Theres no need to go drink-for-drink with other friends its not a competition.
You should also always know how many drinks youve had. Record a little note in your phone or write a tally mark on your arm. Its never a good idea to mindlessly drink without realizing what youre putting in your body.
What you should be mindfully putting in your body, though, is water. As a rule of thumb, drink one bottle of water for every alcoholic drink you consume. By alternating between alcohol and water, you not only pace yourself, but you also stay hydrated.
If you follow these rules, youll be able to enjoy some alcohol while watching the game. Otherwise, you may end up regretting your decisions.
Always travel in pairs.
If youre leaving the tailgate to go to the restroom, visit another tailgate or go into the game, always make sure youre traveling with someone else. Not only can you get lost, but you also never know whats going to happen.
Cellphone service can be spotty at best and its not a good idea to get separated from your group when there are thousands of people walking around.
Get off your feet.
In some games, fans stand on their feet the whole time. While theres nothing wrong with this, you can easily get fatigued if youve also been standing for hours at a tailgate.
During the tailgate, make it a point to get off your feet and sit down for a few minutes. This will conserve energy and help you stay rested. Ideally, you should find a spot in the shade and drink some water at the same time.
Never drink and drive.
This is one you hear over and over from parents, teachers and friends, but its worth repeating. Never under any circumstances drink and drive. If youve had a lot to drink, have a friend drive you home. If you cant have a friend drive you, call an Uber.
If nothing else, wait a couple of hours until youve sobered up. Drinking and driving puts your life and those around you in danger.
Go, fight, win!
Whether its college or professional football, theres nothing better than gathering for a little pre-game fun and tailgating with your friends and family. Good food, good drinks, good sports and good people make for an unforgettable day.
Just try to keep healthy and safe to make sure its not a day you want to forget. So, whos ready for some football?

Part Seven
Part One || Part Two || Part Three || Part Four || Part Five || Part Six
Phrixus Jaril, 13, moves to the Citadel at a delicate age: namely, the peak of his teenage angst. He doesn’t expect much from these rich Citadel kids. But then he meets the Ryder twins, and all their friends, and realizes that he may have been a wee bit wrong about things. His relationship with Mira Ryder evolves over the years, and he never expected things to end up the way they did.

He hadn’t really gotten to know Jyra Kraetoq, of the lower Citadel wards, during basic. And two months into advanced training, he still knew jack-all about her. He and Ruq tended to include her at meal times and in down time, because they came from the same basic squad. And they were usually in the same fire team. But the most they’d gotten her to say about herself was that she could probably infiltrate any system of ductwork, felt strongly that anyone not carrying at least two sidepieces and knives was asking for it, and didn’t believe in eating meat. Even the vat-cloned “meat” that was so often a camp staple.
She was okay, though. Good with tech and a pistol.
He never saw Kraetoq after training; last he’d heard, she had a post out near geth space– some joint op with both Alliance and Flotilla forces cleaning up leftovers from the Battle of the Citadel. Ruq, unfortunately, stuck to him like varren shit. Some years after boot camp, they met again at the fringes of the Attican Traverse. Slaver hunting. But even without meeting up with Ruq again, he recalled these two in particular because they gave him some advice he should have listened to. Sure, Kraetoq went through partners like tp, and Ruq was so dense he’d have someone sticking their mandibles straight up into his before he realized they were interested– but still. You see the splinter in someone else’s eye better than the log in yours or whatever.
During one evening’s free time, most of their squad and the other squads in the company were in the rec room. Kraetoq had stood from the table she, Phrixus, and Ruq had been sitting at.
She whistled at him. “Jaril. Latrine.”
Feet propped on the table top, Phrixus looked up from his omnitool. “Take a female.”
They (meaning everyone under sergeant rank) had to walk around the camp in pairs, usualy male-male and female-female, but in cases of male-female you took three. One male, two females or one female, two males. It was kind of a pain in the middle of the night when someone had to pee really bad and had to wait on someone to wake up and stop cursing you for waking you up.
“I could make the obvious joke here,” Kraetoq drawled. “But let’s just save time and go already.”
He didn’t feel like arguing, so he dropped his feet and shoved at Ruq, napping on the table with his head in his arms. Ruq grumbled some but got up anyway. A short walk later, the two of them leaned against the wall outside the female latrine, Ruq half falling asleep again and Phrixus with his mandibles deep in his tool.
And his head was still mired elsewhere when Kraetoq came out, and the other two were halfway down the hallway.
“Jaril,” Ruq called.
He looked up, and pushed off the wall. And when he followed after them, and passed by them, Ruq got sneaky and shot out a hand to grab onto his wrist. Jerking, he whipped Phrixus’s hand around so that he could look at the omnitool, too.
“I’m not gonna forget you–” he read out loud. He whistled. “How darling. Romantic, even. How much did you pay the guy to write all this for your sour ass?”
Quicker than Ruq could react, Phrixus flicked him sharply on the forehead with his free hand.
“Shit–”
“Dumbass,” he told Ruq.
His hand returned to him, he turned off his omnitool. He’d been browsing through his old message logs. The people in them almost felt like… strangers. At what point had they stopped writing to each other like that, like… Their feelings were so easy to admit. To just spit out. It hadn’t even been a year since he’d written that line Ruq used, but it felt like a lifetime.
The three of them walked back to the rec area with Ruq shrilling about the mark Phrixus probably left. Kraetoq glanced at him. At the face he was making.
“Trouble in paradise?” she asked.
He glanced at her. Shrugged. “My girlfriend. Lately she’s… acting like a damn princess. I’m here, busting my ass, and…” He shrugged again. “It’s just hard to talk to her lately.”
They dropped into their old seats. Propped their feet up again. And Kraetoq didn’t say anything, so he thought the subject was dropped. But then she cleared her throat.
“Maybe she’s acting like a princess because she is one? Maybe every girl is a bit of a princess. Just some don’t get the chance to act like it.”
He looked at her. And shrugged and rolled his eyes because he was a damn idiot and thought she was complaining about having to nag them about walking her to the latrine, and not that she was saying something he should have really heard.
He should have been worried when Mira started going out again. Since the move to the dorms, Forta had decided to cut the drinking and work on lifting and his overall fitness. Of course, the timing and the amount of enthusiasm he threw into this should have worried Phrixus for an altogether different reason. Mira, though, went back to sneaking out with Aela and all the old suspects back home. He’d thought at first it was her just going back to things like normal. But then at some point she and Aela got bored of all the same old house parties.
[mira] soooo
[phrixus] yeah
[mira] me n aela have been up to no good
[mira] ;D
[phrixus] do i really want to hear this
[mira] yesss

If at any time you are a citizen of Citadel space, you receive a constantly updating three-dimensional face scan that will be associated with a Citadel Space Number and your various specs. This information is stored with various police and government databases, which vendors of regulated goods and services are required to access before selling to you.
[phrixus] yeah…
[mira] well, we met this asari who knows someone that will program a jump in scanner software when your face is scanned so it looks like you’re legal
[mira] its expensive

[phrixus] you’re not even going to the gun ranges or the arena
[phrixus] and aela just keeps making it worse
[mira] you dont know anything
[mira] aela has been there for me
[mira] she actually listens to me
[mira] not like you anymore
[mira] you used to give a shit about my life
[mira] now im lucky if you even send a message once a day
[mira] you used to tell me things
[mira] now i dont know anything about what youre doing
[mira] or how you are
[mira] youve changed and i dont even know you anymore
[phrixus] you think i wanted it like this
[phrixus] im here because its my responsibility
[phrixus] im doing my duty and i dont have all the fucking time in the world to answer every message
[phrixus] especially all this crap about how hungover you are or whining about how expensive your fake id will be
[phrixus] im here doing real work in the real world
[phrixus] not like you and aela out in la la land over there
[phrixus] im getting my life together not fucking wasting it
[mira] no youre not youre just being an asshole
[mira] maybe everyone was right about you
[mira] youre not shy or misunderstood or whatever
[mira] youre just a selfish jerk
[mira] you have no idea how to care about anyone other than yourself
[mira] and i bet none of this is new
[mira] youve always looked down on me
[mira] youre just a fucking emotional leech
[mira] but dont worry i wont bother you again with my screwed up life

They didn’t talk for two weeks.
He had never been angry at anyone, had never been angry at her in this way before. He’d never been hurt in this way.
He aced an impromptu fire and movement drill, earned praise from the company’s captain. He memorized all of the regs concerning the movement of refugees from an unsecured location to a secured location. He learned how to properly fire heavy artillery, and how to decimate an air raid with a dazzling firework display.
All the while pretending to not think about it. All the while stewing.
He felt like shit.
He ignored calls from home, from his moms and his old friends. All the messages. He told no one about the fight. Maybe he thought if he kept quiet, it would cease to exist. Just be erased from the history of the universe if no one could remember it.
But him ignoring it wasn’t going to erase the logs in his omnitool, or make her forget.
He just felt like shit.
When did things get so bad? How could it have been, just a year ago, that he felt there was no one who knew him better, that he trusted more, and then that same person turned into a stranger? Someone he couldn’t understand, someone who he couldn’t confide in or vice-versa? How the fuck was it possible that someone you’d shared a bed with– the only person you’d touched or touched you could turn into… an enemy?
And what was it in him that just… could do nothing to help her. Her mother was dying. And he couldn’t do anything. He hadn’t been able to comfort her, say anything of significance for her. He was useless.
If he were honest, and not trying to forget the whole thing, he’d have to admit he didn’t have much right to criticize her.
Where did the trust get broken? Where did the understanding go? Where did that warm afternoon air go, sliding down their bare backs? Where did the quiet rustling as they shifted closer go? And her smile– when was the last time he’d made her smile?
That hit some deep spot in him, some horribly tender place that wasn’t protected by plates or armor. A place he’d been trying to ignore, all this time at camp.
He pretended to forget for two weeks before he ended up wide awake after lights out, laying in bed and staring at the ceiling. He was running on several nights of staring up at the ceiling instead of sleeping, and yet, here he was. Awake. Pretending.
Phrixus pushed up an elbow and glanced down from his top bunk. Everyone was out. In the hall outside, he couldn’t hear the boots of the patrolling fire watch. They were supposed to report anyone out of bed, but even if they caught him only brown-nosing assholes ever snitched on fellow trainees.
Silently, he slipped down the ladder. He dug his omnitool out, climbed back up, and pulled up the covers to block some of the light.
He sent a message to Mira. And waited. And waited. The air filters in the barracks room clicked at rapid rhythm every few hours. It wasn’t too loud, just sort of softly angry and stuttery. Could wake you up though, and you wouldn’t realize it was the filters. You’d get spooked and feel like something was sitting on your chest. He sent another message.
And he waited and waited.
[phrixus] We need to talk.
[mira] oooo cap
[mira] s
[mira] pucntion
[mira] ooooooo
[mira] u dontwnt to tallk tome
[phrixus] Have you been drinking?
A very long pause. He turned his omnitool’s light off when he heard the passing of the fire watch.
[phrixus] Where are you?
[mira] purgatory
[phrixus] Mira.
[mira] stop
[mira] dont
[phrixus] Who’s with you?
[mira] y do u caer
[phrixus] I’m messaging Aela.
[mira] no
[mira] y not alk me
[mira] im drunk im nt stupid
[mira] im the one u shld tallk to
[mira] but u dont
[mira] u nnever
[phrixus] im sorry
[mira] yeah
[mira] metoo
[phrixus] you wanna vid talk?
[phrixus] mira?
[phrixus] mira
He waited a while. And waited. Tried her again. Then he tried Aela.
[phrixus] hey are you with mira
[aela] yeah
[aela] we’re leaving purgatory now
[aela] try her tomorrow or something
[phrixus] ok
[phrixus] how is she
[aela] look, i’m the last person you want to ask about this
[aela] i’m not gonna pull punches
[aela] and i don’t want to make it worse
[aela] just talk to her tomorrow
-
So he skipped lunch the next day and messaged her. Wedged into the corner between two auxiliary buildings, having snuck his omnitool into his waistband in the morning. The electromagnetic barrier of the fort’s biodome buzzing distantly overhead. As answer, she vid called him back.
He was in fatigues, unbuttoned to the waist. The dome protected from a great deal of heat, but it was still much hotter out of doors.
She stared at him, out of the QE data transmission, tinged in hologram blue. In her dorm, sitting on a bed not so different from the one he used now. The plain, nondescript walls not so different from the ones in the barracks, yet hers papered with photo screens and posters. The cushions at her back the same from her old room. Her face was a mess, like clan markings done with cheap paint in a downpour, and she wore a wrinkled and disheveled dress he’d never seen before. Her hair was pulled back carelessly.
“Hey,” she said, small and quiet.
“Hey,” he said.
He could hear the distant rhythm of a jogging company. Even farther out, the sharp cracks of the range.
“You okay?” he asked.
Her eyes shot down, her jaw working. She shook her head.
“I don’t– I need to say something,” she said. “I said some stuff I shouldn’t have the last time we messaged.”
“I did, too–”
“Wait. Just, wait. I’m sorry. You’re not that type of person I said you were. But I also said some things I should’ve a while ago. Things haven’t… they haven’t been the same… Phrixus.”
He waited, holding his mandibles rigid. He watched the slide of her eyes to some spot away from him, and the working of her throat.
“I’m sorry,” he managed. “Mira, I’m sorry. I’ve been terrible. You’re nothing like… and I haven’t been there for you, I know. But I’ve been– worried about you.”
She hesitated, nervous hands going to push away a stray curl that wasn’t there. “I’m glad. I mean. I know I haven’t been making great choices. But I mean… I just wanted… some fun and– and you know, I’ve been worried about you, too. I don’t have any idea how you’re feeling anymore.”
“Yeah,” he said, subvocals dipping. “I know.”
“And I’m sort of tired of just… waiting for some bit of your time. I feel like I’m just a distraction for you.”
“You’re not– you’re not. But… I’m sorry. I just need, well, space. I really just can’t spare the same amount of time…”
“I know.”
Then she looked up properly, at the rigidity in his face. Her eyes shone. She inhaled, the sound trembling, in her throat.
“Phrixus, I think– I think this just isn’t working anymore. Things aren’t the same.  And we both– I think we both need to focus on other things.”
The voice of some sergeant out in the yard spread out over the compound, echoing like a sergeant’s voice does, but wordless and unemotional and hard. An unintelligible dressing down of some group of teenagers.
“I…” he needed to reply, but his voice was skittering away from him. “I think… you’re probably right. I guess we should just– break up…”
She stared up at him. Her voice was so small and tight. “Yeah.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Me too.”
-
He felt… relief for a while. Relief that the pressure and responsibility of the relationship was over. That he didn’t have to come back to his bunk with a backlog of messages to catch up on.
But then the guilt set in. Had they just given up? Should he have tried harder, done more. How could he have said the things he did. This wasn’t just anyone.  This was her. And she had needed him, and he hadn’t been there.
And then the pain set in. Like the story Lieutenant Gratarian had told them on simulation; there are times when soldiers get cleaved in two, and they’re dead, they just don’t realize it yet. But they keep talking, still trying to get help. But they’re dead, and they’ll feel it soon.
All the things he remembered, all the things they’d shared– it got into that deep and tender spot. Turned into this black blemish that never seemed to go away. He could forget about it. But sometimes something (some scent that reminded him, some shift in another’s form) would touch it, and light that tender spot on fire.
But what they’d said still remained.
Maybe it was for the best.
He could focus on training, and she could work things out, figure out the thing in her that was hurting.
Time passed. He didn’t try to make up or restart things, and neither did she.
And they moved on.
