You know him for years over the internet. But when you meet him in person, he acts awkward and uncomfortable. It's a big step for an introverted guy. Can you handle it?

Luke Hughes is everything.

He's awkward, he's a good player and wraps every girl around his finger even when he looks like a zombie, because he stayed awake too long last night to watch the new movie.

"-so he told me I'm boring-", you spill him the tea on FaceTime, talking about the boy you really liked and ghosted you. "He's wrong", Luke smiles in his camera, looking comfortable. It's something you learned about Luke- he's very shy and uncomfortable when he doesn't know people. It's weird how you became friends, - somehow. You're living one continent apart but your connection went good and never had problems to talk with each other. "well I have something to talk about", Luke speaks out and looks away from his display, you nod. "I booked you a ticket. I know you're having your summer vacation next week and being alone at home so you can join us in Michigan", his shy side shows again.

"MICHIGAN?", you squeak under panic. "yeah", he chuckles and looks insecure, thinking if it was the best idea. "Like Michigan with your parents, siblings?", you follow up. "Yeah", he smiles. "i told you not to pay things for me!", you warn him, "take it as an early birthday present ", he argues back. "my birthday is in december!", you roll your eyes, "ok, see you in Michigan!".

Here you are, with all your bags at the airport, searching for Luke. Or a nice sandwich, you're hungry. "Hey!", Luke waves awkwardly at you, coming closer, until he gives you the hand. "Luke", you raise your eyebrows, "we're friends for three years now, gimme a hug!", you hug him because he could say something against it. "I'm sorry but Jack is the driver", he warns you, talking a bag over his shoulder. Jack leans on the car door with sunglasses on, "hi", he hugs you without asking, driving to the lake house. "Mom cooked a lot of food, hope you're hungry", Jack eyes meeting yours, Luke just smiles. "sure, can I sit next to Luke?", you ask Jack. You're here because you want to spend time with him. "I'll not interrupt you lovebirds", he laughs and walks in front of you both. "Are you ok with sitting next to me?", Luke leans over to your ear, whispering these words. "sure, Lucky Luke", you smile at him. His cheeks are blushing. After meeting the whole family you ate dinner, but Luke looks very uncomfortable next to you. Barely talking. He avoids you for three days now, you try to get along with the family but you want to talk to him. You're here because of him.

"Luke?", you ask him, when you finally found a moment in piece with him. "hm?", he smiles.

"Do you want me to leave?", you speak out your worries. "no!", he shakes his head, "I am just very shy, ok? I need my time to feel comfortable", his ears getting red. Your body feels like under electricity, you're more extroverted and never thought he feels that way. "Sure, don't worry", you smile respectfully and leave the room. "Ohh trouble in paradise?", Jack asks you with his girlfriend under his left arm sleeping. "No, it's just too much", you sit down on a camping chair. "did he say something silly? He talked about meeting you nonstop in New Jersey", he focuses on your emotions. "He avoids me for three days and i asked him if i should leave. He told me he's shy and feels uncomfortable", you blame yourself. "sounds like Lukey", he nods understandable. "It's not your fault. After a few days he's the most annoying person ever, trust me", he huffs playfully with a small grin. "what can I do?", you ask him for advice. "He loves movie nights. Ask him to do that?", he thinks about his little weird ass brother.

"I don't want him to feel uncomfortable!", you worry. Jack nods and lays his girlfriends head on the lounger without waking her up.

"Luke!", Jack steps into the house, standing in front of his younger, taller brother. "you told me about this new movie, can you remember?", you join with them. "Yeah, it's a sequel from Harry Potter ", he nods friendly. "your best friend has no plans this night so you can watch it with her", he points with his finger at you, to stop miscommunication. "uhm-", Luke's voice cracks. "If you say no I'll watch it with her", he looms. "you have a girlfriend!?", you think out loud, both turn their bodies in your direction, "I can handle two women", Jack gets sassy. "okay, after dinner", Luke plays with his fingers.

Time flew away. Now you're sitting in Luke's bed, you can smell his cologne and waiting with snacks. "ok I'm ready", Luke comes in and smiles softly, but very nervous. "What are you wearing?", he blushes again, "a pyjama", you laugh. "uhm.. without bra?", he mudders. "Who knows", you mock him. You're laying both in his bed, you can feel how your eyes feel heavy, you yawn after a while. "Can i lay down on your chest?", you ask. His bed is like wood under your body, it's definitely not comfortable. "Sure", he's distracted with watching the movie, petting your hair without thinking much until he hears your softly snores. "sleep well", he kisses your cheek, wrapping his arm around you in the comfortable way and sleeps in, too.

The next morning you wake up from voices around you, "mom take a picture!", jack stresses. "Jack stop being so annoying in the morning!", she tells him, "they're kinda cute together", he whispers. And you close your eyes again.

I've been astonished by how much people seem to love my weird and experimental project held together by duct tape and string, especially since so much of it flies in the face of the way I've been taught publishing is supposed to work. The conventional way authors survive online is to release books for sale as frequently as possible - whereas I've been focusing on giving each project as much time as I can, and releasing them slowly (so far I've done a Dracula-inspired novel.) I’ve been making the sort of transgressive queer writing that mainstream publishing is too nervous to touch right now, and I've been giving it away in my newsletter for free.

I want to keep telling stories for free, forever. Only there's one problem: I'm going to need A Lot more subscribers to my newsletter. I have just under 5000 readers right now - I’m going to need at least double that.

Conventional wisdom also says that Tumblr is a dead end, but I'm convinced that this is one of the last places on the internet that capable of fostering real, counter-cultural queer expression - precisely because we are so often left out and forgotten by the mainstream. Half the reason I'm on this website is because of the culture of absolute resistance to advertising. Unfortunately, that also makes my job here rather hard. If things continue to go well, between Patreon, sales of special editions, and a couple small ads, I think I can just about get away with doing this. But I need your help.

If you're a queer person who's hungry for good stories and:

❧ You're sick of being sold superficial, safe, and sanitized queer stories that shy away from genuine expressions of socially unacceptable desire

❧ You see sexual freedom as inseparable from queer liberation, and you want to see that explored in metaphor via a vampire seducing a priest

❧ You want to read modern queer fiction that's aware of the deep and rich history of queer culture

❧ You want to help foster a project that would create new avenues for underground and transgressive forms of queer expression

Then you should subscribe to What Manner of Man! It's sexy and boundary-pushing and kinky, with fire in its veins.

If this works, I'll be able to take on bigger and more ambitious projects than I ever have before (it's mad scientists next, and I have some pretty mad ideas!)

OR if you’re a natural learner then he loves practicing pronunciation n conversations with you

whenever your boyfriend is missing, you bet your ass he’ll be at the soccer field playing w his friends

and it just makes him so happy whenever you stay to watch him play

he’s in the school soccer team too! so you support him during all of his games <3

sometimes during breaks he’ll just… be here… while you study or chat with your friends… so he lets you do whatever you want w him, whether it’s playing with his fingers or making small braids or ponytails on his hair 🥹

jaehee is a very good student, respected amongst his peers and teachers

but he wouldn’t mind bending the rules for you

for example sneaking out during breaks to buy you snacks from the nearest convenient store…

…or running a bit late to class because he walked you to your class…

…OR having to explain why he doesn’t have his books (because he knew you forgot yours at home so he lent you his)

and so on

sakuya loves giving gifts so he’ll always have a small gift for you, no matter the occasion (even if it’s just a snack from the vending machine)

gets so so so excited whenever he sees you, will literally stop talking to whoever he was talking to and run up to kiss your cheek the second his eyes spot you in the crowd

waits for you to finish your class!! he just can’t bare being away from you >:(

his curiosity gets him in trouble sometimes…

… for example when he excuses himself to go to the toilet… but ends up peeking into your class to see how you’re doing…

sometimes you sneak to the library with him just to have a moment alone

(you get kicked up because you giggle too loudly at the jokes he makes)

not to be dramatic but he has to hold your hand all the time or will die

The fact they are trying to raid Alex Jones over his questioning of Sandy Hook, means you should ABSOLUTELY start looking into Sandy Hook.

So many things did not add up with what the Feds were saying....but no one is allowed to question them because it's sensitive, like ever?

• How did the dead teacher's fingerprints get on the bullets on the inside of an unused magazine?

• Why didn't the DNA of the shooter and his mother match the DNA of their own crime scene?

• Why were articles and charity pages set up online the day before it happened?

• Why did so many people at the scene have their entire mortgages immediately paid off?

• Why was one of the fathers caught laughing and smiling right before the press conference?

• Why was the coroner so weird and off while giving his statement?

• Why did they ban the public release of autopsies for children a year earlier?

• Why does the drone footage show everyone walking in and out of the building, over and over in one giant circle through a crime scene?

• Why did their main witnesses keep changing their stories?

• Why wasn't there any triage being performed whatsoever on the day of?

• Why were the Feds and the press so obsessed with demonizing the mother as a "Prepper?"

Before you lay into me....I'm not saying what did or didn't happened. I'm saying why aren't we allowed to ask questions when authorities are this evasive and combative about the truth?

How many weird things happened in Uvalde that they simply refuse to ever answer or address? Or any mass shooter that was "previously known to Feds" for making threats, but then they're too busy going after MAGA grandmas that were at the Capitol?

I did a full length documentary exposing the insane Las Vegas shooting cover up....which they also suspiciously swept under the rug after only 2 weeks, because so many holes were forming in their story. That doesn't mean it didn't happen...it means authorities aren't telling the truth.

You think a government that's willing to unroll a medical genocide on our dime with an illegally made virus by a foreign enemy and an untested vax they lied their asses off about, or try to start WW3 by blowing up a pipeline, or kill 3,000 of us in one day to hide the money the Pentagon lost, push the Patriot Act through, and start a lucrative war in the Middle East over imaginary weapons of mass destruction....isn't being deceptive about all these mass shootings?

Their plan is to just....make it illegal to even question them, and then crucify anyone that does? Yea, because that's what innocent people do...

How I Would Change 4x03

4x03 is my least favorite Lone Star episode. I struggle to enjoy any part of it because I think there were so many odd choices made, including places where, to me, Carlos seems wildly out of character. However, I don't think it's completely unsalvageable. In fact, I think the overall storyline is fine and some little adjustments would improve things immensely.

Here are the FOUR THINGS I would change about 4x03:

1.Give more context for why Carlos is upset

I think it makes a lot of sense for Carlos to be feeling intensely guilty about Iris in this episode. Presumably the main reason that Carlos went so long without contacting Iris was because he was afraid of upsetting her or setting back her progress. Then, when he finally does come back into her life, it's not for her benefit or to rekindle their friendship or to check up on her. Instead, it's because he needs something from her. Then, almost immediately, Iris goes missing again and is in danger. Carlos canonically blames himself for everything, so of course he would blame himself for this!

In that context, I can better understand why Carlos would react the way he did when he finds out that TK went to see Iris and potentially upset her enough to cause her to go missing again. But also, TK only did it because of Carlos' own failure to deal with the situation, and I think that's something Carlos would recognize. I think it makes sense for Carlos to be mostly angry with himself and feeling a lot of guilt, even though that may take the form of him lashing out a little at TK in a moment where he is very upset. Ultimately, I think it would have helped this episode out a lot if there had been a moment or two where it is made clear that Carlos is mostly angry at himself.

2. Fix Carlos in the cliff rescue scene

The cliff rescue scene, despite the hilarious moment of sex doll CPR, remains my absolute least favorite scene of the series. First, I hate the way Carlos uses his cop authority to intimidate a mentally ill man. To fix this, I would simply have the detective stop Carlos before he can really approach the man. She could tell Carlos that he's too close to the situation and to leave it to her.

Then I would also fix the way Carlos treats TK here. This is the most out of character moment to me. I understand that Carlos is very upset in this scene and thinking that Iris might be dead. It makes sense that he would be distant from TK. I'm ok with that. But when Carlos says the "can't let go of a bad relationship" line...I just hate it so much. Is Carlos supposed to be implying that his relationship with TK is a "bad relationship" here? If so, I do not for a second believe he really thinks that. Instead, he's just saying it to be a jerk to TK, which I do not like. TK is upset enough as it is! And I really don't think Carlos would act like that. Or is Carlos somehow talking about his relationship with Iris? That also doesn't make sense to me. At this moment, he thinks Iris might be dead. I don't think he'd reduce their history down to a "bad relationship." Ultimately, that line is terrible and confusing and I reject it. So what I would do with this scene would be to have Carlos just say nothing. He can be upset and anxious about Iris and distant from TK. That's enough.

3. Make the scene with Iris in the ambulance way less weird

I find this scene after Iris is rescued to be so strange. I think it's the lingering shots and the awkwardness, but I don't fully understand how I'm supposed to interpret what's going on. Is Carlos still really angry at TK? If so, why? It's clear now that someone abducted Iris and that TK wasn't the reason she went missing (and Carlos has not yet been given reason to doubt Iris's story). Is TK supposed to be jealous of Iris and Carlos? I'm not sure if that's what they're meaning to convey here, but the looks shared and the awkwardness just make it weird. Also, when Carlos tells Iris to "breathe," is that supposed to be a Tarlos Push reference? I don't think it was actually intended to be one, but I've seen many people interpret it that way.

To fix this scene, I would just remove the weird lingering awkwardness. Maybe let TK and Carlos share a worried look. Do they really need to be completely at odds here? I know they wanted to build the tension and raise the stakes for Carlos going missing in the next episode, but I truly don't feel like that was even necessary. The stakes are plenty high! And take out the "breathe" line...it's just confusing.

4. Have Carlos apologize (or at least start to apologize) during his phone call with TK

Finally, I think something that would go a long way towards improving the way I feel about this episode would be a bit of an apology to TK from Carlos. I already imagine all sorts of off-screen apologies happening in these first few season 4 episodes, but it would be so nice to actually see one! Even just a part of one! Maybe at the start of their phone conversation at the end of the episode. At this point, Carlos fully believes Iris, so he knows that TK wasn't the reason she went missing. He has absolutely no reason to still be mad at TK. He has also had enough time to reflect on his behavior and on how hurt and guilty TK is probably still feeling. Sure, Carlos has a lot of other things on his mind, including the stupid thing he's about to go do, but I think at least the beginning of an apology would fit into the phone call. Maybe TK would even cut him off and tell him he doesn't need to apologize. Ultimately, just the recognition from Carlos that he has something to apologize for here would do wonders for me.

life as a sorcerer— the strongest sorcerer at that, doesn’t really leave much time for extracurricular activities so of course neither of you were really surprised by the distance. does it still bother you? of course.

he always tries to make up for it when he can though. movie dates, night outs on the town and the occasional luxury vacation (it’s gojo, if he’s gonna do it’s gotta be RIGHT) whatever you want, you got it.

and best believe he’s gonna be all over you too. he’s a pda freak, mf loves it !!! holding hands, kisses, hugs ALL OF IT.

choso “let me do it” kamo : acts of service king

one thing about dating choso? he’s always gonna hit you with the “let me do it”

he does everything for you (not your choice) but he can’t help it :(

this man is dedicated to making your life as easy as possible. he treats you like some sort of royalty because you’re his no.1 priority and he’s basically your knight in shining armor.

he even ties your shoes for you because how dare you exert yourself in such a manner when he’s there? he loves being of use (as weird as it sounds) he loves servicing you in any way possible. however, there are times when it DOES get irritating.

you find yourself having to do the “it’s ok I can do it” speech more than you should, kinda serves as a cue to tone it down and more often than not he catches on.

he’s working on it he swears !

nanami “are you hungry?” kento : acts of service + quality time (aka husband material)

now, nanami is an acts of service man in a different way than choso is, because as much as he’d love to do everything for you and to have you sit pretty…he sees that it’s not practical to any extent for day to day life.

what i will say though, is that he makes up for that in a different way.

this man can cook, mf throws DOOWWNN in the kitchen and it’s all for you. he doesn’t even cook himself anything half the time, he just likes making sure you’re well fed and taken care of.

he knows all your favorite foods, knows what textures you like, he’s got it all down to a science. not to mention that he uses it as an excuse to spend more time with you. he knows he’s busy and feels awful about it so he takes that as an opportunity to wiggle in some MUCH needed quality time.

he loves when you guys bake together the most though. (and he cleans up afterwards every time so you can enjoy the meals or goodies you guys prepared.

Ive been thinking about how Rhysand being highlord is incredibly pointless and pretty much only serves to make him more dislikable because this series keeps going on and on about how much Tamlin sucks as a ruler, meanwhile Rhysand is over there neglecting two thirds of his (known) court with the thinnest justifications imaginable, not to mention how much worse it makes feysand (atleast conceptually) because really most of Feyres issues with Tamlin that didnt come down to both of them being too traumatized to function together came down to Tamlin being a monarch and her being his fiance, and the only reason shes not having those same issues with Rhys is that he simply absolves her of any actual Lady/High Lady responsibilities, but im getting off-topic. I genuinely think the main reason Rhys is a high lord instead of just like, a powerful general which would make way more sense for his character, is that SJM finds power really hot and I guess if Rhysand was more magically powerful than Tamlin but had less state power and authority that would make him feel like a downgrade, so we get Rhysand being The Most Powerful Highlord In The History of PrythianTM. But then that make me think. hey, why isnt Rhys just in Keirs position. Like, hes not the Highlord of the night court hes just lackey whos in charge of the hewn city and illyria, those less savory parts of the NC that the HL uses as big meatshield factories for the sake of protecting his precious city of starlight, so he still has all this state power and authority but hes also actually an underdog and has an actual reason for putting on a mask. Yknow, the Hewn City is mostly just a normal city with people having the best lives they can without ever seeing the sky because Rhys is actually good at running it, but then everytime the HL comes along they put on a big show of evil for him to feel superior to, or maybe its just Rhys and other high ranking officials putting on a show idk

OH this would actually go really well with that idea I had a few months ago of Rhys having a full-fae halfbrother from his dad's previous non-mate marriage. Like, Rhys is the less favored son so they make him do all this dirty work while his dad and halfbrother luxuriate in Velaris, maybe theres a whole thing where they think Rhys cant inherit the HL powers because hes half-illyrian and then at the end of the trilogy they kill his dad and the powers go to him and its a big triumphant moment because Rhys triumphed over his shitty blood-family's weird biological essentialism. OR if you wanted to girlboss it, maybe having received that drop of the HL's power makes Feyre inherit it instead idk and now you have a brand-new ruler who can properly unite Velaris, the Hewn City and Illyria into one court (i mean, i would prefer Illyria be independant from the NC, but I doubt SJM would ever even think of writing that, so unification with the illyrians getting equal rights is the best i could hope for)

Spencer practically bounces into work on Tuesday morning. You have not left his mind since taking you out on the impromptu lunch date. He’s honestly never met anyone like you before which is why he’s so enthralled with you. He thought it was a bit weird that you didn’t know how to eat a cheeseburger but who is he to judge? He doesn’t know how to do a lot of things and often gets judged for it.

Derek walks out of the break room sipping his much-needed coffee when he sees Spencer at his desk. JJ and Pen follow him out of the break room and chuckle at the smile on his face.

“Why are you all smiles this past week?”

“Nothing.”

“Spit it out, kid. Who is she?”

“Why do you assume it’s a she?”

“No one makes a man smile like you’ve been smiling more than a woman.”

“Is it that girl you went to see the other day at the coffee place?”

“Okay, now I gotta know about her,” Derek grins.

“It’s nothing. It’s new. I don’t even know what we are or where it’s going to be. I just had lunch with her that one time.”

“What’s her name?” Penelope asks, sitting down at Derek’s desk.

“I’m not telling you.”

“Spence, we’re not going to stalk this girl.”

“I am. What’s her name?”

Spencer knows he’s not going to win this with three of his coworkers ganging up on him.

“Y/N.”

“Let’s look her up, shall we?”

“No, don’t do that.”

It’s too late. Derek and JJ are huddled around Penelope as she types quickly. He sighs and walks around them to see what she pulls up. He’s curious since there is such mystery surrounding you. Penelope finds an Instagram profile that matches the name Spencer gave her.

“Is this her?”

“Yeah.”

At face value, you look like a normal American girl. Spencer detected an accent in your voice that you were trying to hide. Besides that and not knowing how to eat a cheeseburger, you seem perfectly normal. Your Instagram shows it, too. You have pictures of you on the beach, in the mountains, in parks with your dogs, and traveling with friends and families. Someone who has experienced life to the fullest.

“From what I can see, she has two brothers and one sister and she really likes surfing, playing piano, and hanging out with her family.”

“Check her Twitter,” JJ says.

“Okay, no, you’re done. Enough stalking her.”

Spencer gives them their moment to tease, and Penelope chuckles before exiting out of Instagram.

“It’s good to see you happy, kid.”

Spencer takes a seat at his desk to get to work but he can’t get you out of his mind. Don came to visit you while at work, and your manager gave you permission to take your break earlier. You and Don are sitting outside where there aren’t any customers because it’s getting hot. No many people are walking outside so Don thinks it’s perfect to have this conversation here.

“Here, I got you a new cellphone. Don’t worry, they can’t track it.” You open your mouth to speak but Don shakes his head. “Don’t ask.” He takes out a small ID and hands it to you. “Here is your new driver’s license. I also did you a favor by creating social media accounts for you with pictures that my friend helped make. Everyone in this day and age has some sort of digital footprint. It would be weird if you didn’t have it.”

“Thanks.”

Your heart starts to race a bit from how nervous you are and you can’t help but fiddle with your fingers underneath the table. You look at the people passing by across the street and immediately smile when you see the one person who you can’t get out of your head. Don sees the smile and turns to see Spencer walking over to the Coffee Shop. Your heartbeat immediately slows down because you feel safe with him. You’re not sure why since he’s a stranger to you but you feel like you can trust him.

“Hi, Spencer,” you grin.

“I’ll see you at home,” Don clears his throat.

He leaves just as Spencer gets to the table. He takes the seat Don was sitting in and watches him walk away.

“That’s my uncle.”

“Where are your parents?” Spencer asks and turns back around.

“Away. They’re out of town for work. They won’t be back for a while.”

“What do they do?”

You’re not prepared to be interrogated mostly because you never did your homework on this new life. You should have on the plane ride over here, but you were too busy researching the history of America to research yours.

“You know, work. It’s complicated. They do so much.”

Spencer chalks it up to you wanting to be private so he respects that and moves the conversation along. It’s weird since your Instagram shows you being your family and he thought that meant you were close with them.

“What are you doing here?” you ask.

“I wanted to see you.”

“Here I am,” you smile. “Oh, I got my new phone. Can I give you my number?”

“Yeah.” Spencer takes out his phone and hands it over to you. You input your name and number into his phone before handing it back to him. He immediately calls your phone so that you have his number. “Listen, I also wanted to ask you if you’re busy this weekend.”

“I shouldn’t be, why?”

“I’d like to take you out if that’s okay.”

“Like a date?” Spencer nods shyly, and you give him an encouraging smile. “I’d love to. Where are we going?”

“Now, if I told you, it wouldn’t be a surprise. Don’t worry, I think you’re going to love it.”

“I’m excited,” you grin.

“I have to get back to work but can I stop by at lunch and take you out again?”

“Yeah.”

Spencer grins and leaves the table right after. You watch him walk off with a happy sigh. This… this is everything you’ve wanted. The quiet peaceful life with someone to look forward to every day. It might be boring in some people’s eyes but it’s everything your old life can’t give to you. You think back to your parents and how worried they must be not knowing where their daughter is. You want to feel bad for what you did but if you feel bad then you’ll feel guilty and guilt leads to you going back there…

Yacleira. Home to your nightmares.

Your mother, Calliope, paces the throne room anxiously while your father, Elliot, sits on the throne overlooking the enormous room. Calliope is almost in tears because, for the past week, she and her husband haven’t been able to locate their only daughter and heir to the throne. They have searched Yacleira and every crack and crevice she has but you’re nowhere to be found. That means you must be in a different country but they’ve contacted Spain, Saudi Arabia, Norway, and England but none of them have seen or heard from you.

Elliot already had his time to explode in anger for letting his daughter get away but now he’s calm with silent rage. Not only is he very protective of you, his daughter, but also the future queen of Yacleira. Without you, they will have to find a new bloodline to take over the throne and that is not going to happen. Your family has been reigning for half a century and it’s not going to stop now.

“Calliope, darling, please quit pacing. You’re making them nervous.”

She looks over at the Harringtons of Vosharia. Felix, Cecelia, and their son Henry who was meant to be married to you had you not run off to play house in another country. This arranged marriage is a way of connecting the two countries to keep their alliances strong without issue. People in Vosharia are trying to overthrow people in Yacleira mostly for their land. They’re both small but very powerful countries and one will not give up their land for the other. This marriage is a way to unite the two together to become stronger. Henry has been quiet about the situation but his parents are ever so vocal about being made fools at the altar.

“Do you realize what will happen if word about this gets out? The outroar both of us will have to endure?” Felix asks angrily.

“We’ll find her,” Calliope says.

“You better because if you don’t, you can kiss that peace treaty goodbye. We will be at war,” Felix glares at Elliot.

“You have made your point, Felix. We do not need your judgment at a time like this,” Elliot glares back. “I suggest you go back to Vosharia and wait for our word. We will find our daughter and she will wed Henry. The deadline isn’t due for another six months.”

“Sweetheart, we should just go. You’ve made your point,” Cecelia says.

“Fine. We will come back in exactly one month hoping for progress.”

With that, the Harringtons leave the building, escorted by their own guards. Calliope is worried about the state of her country but she is worried about you more. Where could you be? What are you doing? Are you in danger? Did you leave because you had to or because you wanted to? The Richmonds don’t have enough time to rest because their head of security, Kylen, enters with your personal bodyguard who has been assigned to you since birth, Benjamin.

“Did you find her?” Elliot asks and stands up.

“No, sir. I figure if anyone can find her, it’s Ben.”

It’s true. Sebastián knows you better than you know yourself. If you were planning on leaving the country, he’d know about it or know where you’d go if you managed to sneak by him.

“You’re sure you don’t know what happened?” Calliope asks.

“No, Your Majesty. I was away when she escaped. She knew me just as much as I knew her. She knew when I’d be away from her.”

“Find her, Benjamin,” Elliot glares.

“I will do everything possible to bring her home to you.”

He knows you fled to the United States because he’s the one who put you on the goddamn plane. He just doesn’t know where. He made it clear to Don not to tell him where you were for this exact reason. He’d do anything to make you happy even if it means escaping from everything you’ve ever known.

Okay done with chapter 10 starting with chapter 11 of The Lightning Thief, and normally I planned on not making a post on every single chapter BUT, I do have some changes/additions in my traitor theories.

So first off, Annabeth is the traitor. SO far has the most prove in the book imo (which is till meager), but I REALLY don't like how she told Percy that they HAVE to not get along because of their parents. Personally I just think that's more proof for my "Annabeth is the traitor" theory.

She was pretty nice to Percy pre-claiming, and on the bus she did fully intend sacrificing herself for him. But she also seems to have this very deep anchored world view of how their parents should affect them and their actions.

So, I modify my theory : Annabeths a traitor, but will get a redemption arc. The reason for the betrayal stays the same, her mom and her rivalry with Poseidon. And Annabeth would think that she NEEDS to betray Percy bc she's the kid of her mom.

So instead of being a malicious traitor, she'd be more like a tragic, indoctrinated villain who needs to be shown to do better ! It most definitely would be interesting.

HOWEVER, this is based of the reaction of another friend when I talked to them about my theories and they reacted very...... weird. After some time I threw in Grover being the traitor more as a joke and while not SAYING anything, that silence was SHOUTING.

So, Grover being the traitor. Canon proof ? Not rly there. Would it be one hell of a plot twist ? YES. Could be bitterness maybe ? My impression was that Satyrs were sort of servants or atleast bellow halfbloods in some way. I could deffo see him getting worked up over that.

Then however he did have a close relationship with Percy and a GOOD reason to stay loyal to get his license. So may I present : Multi-book build up of Grover betraying Percy.

With that I mean, should Grover be the traitor I think he wouldn't betray Percy in this book. Chiron said smth about prophecies having double meanings, so I assume they can be kinda wacky. Imagine Grover slowly building resent against the demi gods for how they use his ppl as tools/servants, and betrays Percy/the halfbloods as a whole in a later book. It could be a cool moment where the thing mentioned in the first book comes back around !

I do however admit myself, that theory is a WILD. Like, WILD WILD. And my only thing to go off on is the silence of my friend and the emoji's they send as a response. Take that theory with the BIGGEST grain of salt.

The third option I think possible : The traitor isn't gonna be Annabeth OR Grover, but will be a character later introduced. Comes from me starting to think that Annabeth could be a bit obvious with the whole sudden switch in how she acts with Percy making it a bit obvious. And the Grover theory being borderline crack.

That option would be my fav, since tbh I don't RLY want Annabth to go villain (even if the redemtion arc would be juicy as hell) but I also don't want Grover to start resenting his friends.

Logically speaking I do think it's Annabeth more likely than Grover tho. (Considering I now have theories for both being the traitor we're basically back to square one. Kill me, please.)

ON ANOTHER NOTE; apparently it's quite common for the author to describe scars as ugly looking and evil. (Thanks to the wonderful user who gave me that info !) Which, first off, YIKES. Not good, like at all.

That fact does however help me with my theory, since it allows me to safely eliminate one character for sure now. Luke !

I mean, I already didn't think it was him. The only thing that made me peek up was when he was described as evil-looking in that one paragraph. But if that (sadly) apparently is a norm, then it more likely than not wasn't foreshadowing.

So yeah, it's not gonna be Luke so I can just start to safely ignore him in my traitor theories. (Not like I ever considered him a real candidate in the first place, he's just safely eliminated in my head now)

i feel like people who say things like "oh tm didn't mean for tlt to be a political work, she's just a funny silly woman writing funny silly books/there's no deeper message beyond lesbians here" are being kind of disrespectful to tm herself; she's not stupid! she clearly knows what she's doing, and it's weird to just dismiss her entirely

yep!! absolutely agreed anon. i was literally looking for a post i made myself on this topic the last time we had "the books aren't that deep" discourse (lost to the blue void). to my mind a lot of it is just plain old-fashioned sexism. female authors and creators have a long and storied history of being taken less seriously, and these same posters who are saying that the locked tomb isn't that deep have also demonstrated a dislike for analyses that look at the role of gender in the series — going so far as to baselessly accuse people who talk about gender in the locked tomb of being TERFs. i think it's a shame because these books are really complex and well thought out, and they deserve to be taken seriously.

Me reading a fic where the person had an identidy realization that they were in he aroace spectrum and now they were figuring themselves out(I finally found something that understood me and a romance I could relate to after all these years)

Continuing the JJK posting: Gojo is such a mystifying character.

Action show where swinging out the gate you introduce a character who is so incredibly powerful you then have to, before every fight, establish why Gojo can't just show up and fix the problem in seconds. His existence weakens the stakes of everything. The rest of the show you are backflipping ridding yourself of him. He jobs two major bad guys off the gate and every subsequent extensive fight with them feels like cleaning up his leftovers. Put him in a box, he's ruining the game balance. So absolutely broken. As a writer it makes your job so difficult, but it's also the entire point of him. "Hey I want to write the single most badass character of all time who can do the most insane shit but I will also engage with that", rock on king.

I think he's most interesting when understood as somebody who is fundamentally alien and removed from ordinary human thought processes. In his world there is absolutely nothing he cannot do, and the thought 'maybe I can't do something' just doesn't occur to him. He is capable of doing whatever he wants and of killing anybody who tries to stop him from doing what he wants. If he is not doing something, it is because he does not want to do it. If he wants to do something (kill all of his superiors) and he's not doing it, it's because he doesn't think it's the most effective route towards what he has decided to do. I think this informs the majority of his actions (and, importantly, what he doesn't do)(murder). I think he's reasoned out that you should have a general reason to do things, and it feels like sheer luck that he places value and meaning in human life, and as such you shouldn't kill them without a strong reason. Watching the flashback arc, if I hadn't seen a) JJK and b) Naruto and you asked me which shitty teen became a law abiding school teacher and which became a mass murderer I would have guessed the wrong ones.

Anyway, the way I like to think of him, he's a raging narcissist with a god complex to match. Horrifically, he's actually a good teacher, but he is also a teacher as an ego/'raising my child army' thing. He would be the kind of mother who is a good mother but lowkey had kids also as an ego/unconditional love/lots of attention/'surely my child will worship me' thing. Gets randomly into new hobbies, obsesses over them, gorges himself on the novelty factor, before dropping them in a week once he gets too good at them. Rinse and repeat. The only hobby that does not eventually grow boring is annoying people, so it's his only hobby. Geto told him age 15 that he'll never have any friends if he keeps on casually reminding people that they live on his sufferance, so he developed another back-up hobby more conducive for friendship of helping people forget that they live on his sufferance. This has convinced him that he's a god of subterfuge, intrigue, and trickery. Does eat women out, but is convinced that this makes him God's gift to women, and is actually pretty terrible in bed because his partner's desires never even occur to him. Is convinced he's as good at sex as he is everything else. Sex is actually the one thing he's bad at, but he's not ready to hear that.

In S1 he overall left me with the general impression that his entire idea of how high school worked was sourced from anime, and as such decided that being a teacher involved nothing but field trips, sports games, beach episodes, sports festivals, etc. Did not know how the classroom component worked so he skips it. Jossed, but also left me convinced that it would be very funny if he was an immortal 150-whatever years old and had founded the high school himself out of, you guessed it, an ego thing, and never once properly learned how high schools worked and just arbitrarily made his own aging students the new principals so he could continue engaging in training the kids who are too Misfit (TM) to get apprenticeships and living his fun slice of life anime life and raising a child army of kids who will worship him any day now. Annnyyyy day now. Any day now.

okay, okay, so!! if the kagebros got separated from reigen and teru when mob is still fine, i imagine that their reunion would be hEARTWRENCHING also, i'm a bit curious, would mob still be able to recognize teru and reigen? or would he thought about them as strangers?

(tbh, following your lore, i imagine mob would act a similarly like nezuko from demon slayer? but instead of little hums, his zombie sounds would more like babbling and incoherent mumbles :"D)

the reunion is fuckin AWFUL man it's SO gut-wrenching. both reigen and teru feared this for Months while looking for the brothers; pretty much the worst case scenario was that mob or ritsu or Both turned—a lot of humans prefer death over being a zombie any day, so the idea of ritsu or mob having to go through that and wander around aimlessly until starvation or smth else gets them,,,

it hurts them so much to think about. teru forces himself not to dwell on it and he's pretty good at that but reigen thinks abt it a lot and he's honestly not sure what scenario is worse. best case is that they're both alive and unturned, obviously, but what's the worst case? you'd think it's both of them getting killed, or turning, but reigen also knows that if One of them got killed/turned, the other would probably lose their mind, especially if they had to watch. the fact that they're kids makes this all three times worse and reigen has to act like he's Not worrying himself sick over the brothers while he tries to keep teru in high spirits

the reunion itself is rly fuckin gut-wrenching for them. they see mob from afar, wandered off just a bit from ritsu and tome who are just around the bend looting a place, and they book it bc ofc they do, it's mob!! but then they see how pale he is, and when he turns around they don't see that light in his eyes that's usually there and the red is dulled and dead looking,, teru almost moves in for a hug before he realizes mob looks vastly different when he Rly takes him in, and mob doesn't rly react too much besides staring at them blankly. the obvious answer is almost too horrifying to even consider, so it takes them a minute to rly,,realize what's going on

tome comes around the bend and shouts, cuz when humans and zombies mix it's usually guns pointed at zombie heads. ritsu comes running out after her and when he sees reigen and teru his thoughts go, in order: holy shit is that reigen and tero ohmygod oh my god they're alive they're alive ohmy god i could fucking cry, and ohmy god they see shige ohno oh no oh no

ritsu sounds like a lunatic when he pulls mob away from them on instinct and says that he's safe to be around and that he's "still him" and he's "not gone" and he's very aware of that. he's very, intimately aware that he sounds fuckin crazy, bc ofc he does, this is what all the crazy people in zombie movies sound like. but he doesn't care, he doesn't care if reigen or teru dismiss him as nuts—he has to make them understand that his brother is still in there somewhere

and yeah, they both kinda think that ritsu's lost his marbles a little bit, but while teru is focused on that and the fact that mob doesn't look like he's rly tuned into Anything that's happening rn, reigen is a bit more focused on the fact that both ritsu and mob look awful? they're both very skinny and very dirty, obviously barely scraping by. they're cut up and ritsu's jacket is basically blood and dirt with a little bit of green fabric mixed in. and just by the look in ritsu's eyes, reigen can tell, man ... reigen can tell ritsu is like.not okay at this point he's kinda lost it.

i think the most painful thing about this whole reunion in general is that later that night, when reigen and teru r finally like ok we get it he's,, he's still mob. we believe you (they want to believe him... [they Do believe him, later, wholeheartedly]) and they settle down someplace safe, teru asks how long mob's been like this. and ritsu has to answer "since we got separated" and they both have that to stew over while everybody else sleeps

they realize that ritsu likely watched mob turn, watched the entire process, and that process takes a long time. it's at least a week of deteriorating motor functions and cognitive skill, and the fact that ritsu stayed for that to keep mob company is .ough. and it doesn't end there bc ritsu obviously stayed after that too

given how these things usually go, ritsu probably did think about killing mob. it probably did cross his mind, bc that's basically what everybody's been told to do. kill them before they have a chance to do any more damage. and it's obvious that ritsu did not have it in him

ritsu not only did not have it in him to kill him, he didn't even have it in him to leave him there. the kid fucking took him with him. a zombie. and he's somehow made it work, for months. and the next few days are filled with watching him still treat mob like a brother and take care of him and gently steer him away from a bird he tries to follow down the wrong street.ritsu is as gentle and kind as he's ever been with his brother. and even tho they're both hungry and tired and barely making it, ritsu is doing a rly good job taking care of mob with what he's been given

the kid obviously wholeheartedly believes in a cure and that mob is still There. he's gone through the trouble to take care of him, and the grief of continuously seeing a loved one that many would consider effectively dead, to get him that cure. to get him his brother back. and mob doesn't seem to be in any pain or distress, so reigen and teru think that this path ritsu has followed is probably infinitely kinder than the mercy kill method they've been taught to do

i think they have a new respect for ritsu, after that reunion

#qktalks #anon #zombie au #and also yes!! mob Would indeed recognize them and not attack them #i've never seen demon slayer but im assuming ur talking abt the main character's ??little sister?? smth like that #but yes i adore the idea of mob saying rly weird incoherent sentences that Almost sound like real words but like slightly to the left #bein a zombie rewires ur brain completely man .his mind is struggling a lot to say what it wants to say #it takes mob a moment to rly catch onto who's in front of him during the reunion but when he does realize there Is recognition in his eyes #fun fact; if u hug zombie mob muscle memory kicks in and he hugs back!#reigen and teru don't find this out until a few days later. they're a bit.. scared of him snapping at them for a while #but once they see that mob never once snaps at ritsu Or tome they're a little more willing to get near him and touch him #teru finally hugs mob and mob hugs back and it makes teru cry VGEAYEAV #(ritsu has hugged zombie mob enough to where now mob leans into his hugs.just giving u smth to sob over)#still related to the reunion but focusing more on ritsu:#after they reunite reigen notices that ritsu has a lot more..authority in his tone. he's a lot more comfortable taking charge #but he also notices that ritsu looks Exhausted and for a while he has trouble relinquishing the lead role to reigen aka the only adult #and it's entirely bc ritsu is just so used to doing things on his own now that he Forgets he has people to lean on #so it takes a bit for him to remember he has an adult to take care of him now #bro definitely overworks himself a lot in his haste to take care of mob :(#ritsu eventually lets himself lean on reigen when he's tired #poor kid melts into that kind of care after so long of not having that and being the sole provider for him and mob #when tome came around it got easier. but that also meant it was another mouth to feed so.only a little bit easier </3

I have heard about this! The content I saw was just so insistent about Beefleaf that I wondered if maybe I was misremembering and the "no same-gender side couples" thing applied to MDZS only. (I have gotten similar vibes from Moshang and from whatever Yue QIngyuan and Shen Jiu's ship name is, but I've now obtained Vol. 1 of SVSSS and plan to read it, so if those two aren't actually canon, don't tell me! It can be a surprise!)

The "no side couples"--or, in MDZS's case, "no queer characters AT ALL besides the protag, his love interest, and the disgraced goth weirdo who annihilates himself to resurrect the protag"--thing confuses me, because... I guess I don't get the point of it? I totally understand not having the bandwidth to develop more than one couple. The challenge of adequately building up other relationships fully independent of your main couple without detracting from the exploits of your protagonist and his love interest could be daunting, as would expanding the story's focus and juggling multiple equally-prominent lead characters for an effective ensemble piece. But here it seems like people picked up a vibe between the characters from what was already there in the text and then MXTX was like, "oh, no, they're not a couple! there's just the one couple!" and THAT I don't get. If she's disinterested in writing women, but has a cast of attractive men who are all obsessed with each other, why not toss a romance in there between some of the guys? Again, you can keep it entirely as-is and just toss a kiss in there or confirm in interviews that yes, they were in love, and you're so happy readers picked up on that even though you didn't get to tell their full story on the page.

I am extrapolating based on the Xiyao situation specifically, so maybe this doesn't apply to her other works! But it is a choice that confuses me. A couple doesn't have to be that developed; Xuanli certainly aren't, but their existence is a major plot point. I should think that the presence of other m/m couples would bolster the main couple, if anything, because it sets a precedent for them existing in their world. There are situations where adding an expressly romantic element would change something fundamental about the relationship, but there are just as many where the addition of a romantic element changes nothing or makes it make more sense (case in point: Xue Yang's freakout after killing Xiao Xingchen).

Like I said, I get not wanting to devote energy to it, and I also get that sometimes a work or performance is received by the audience in ways the artist didn't intend (this is the Destiel website, after all), but to make it a conscious choice to have One M/M Couple Only? Based on what I currently know, this perplexes me.

#there are plenty of works that have a bajillion guys and only like two women but do NOT intend anything romantic between the guys #but these are things like shounen anime (or fuckin SPN lol) that are written for straight male audiences and don't prioritize romance #whereas these here are epic romances about two gay men written for predominantly female audiences #it's not like your audience is going to be like 'a romance between two DIFFERENT men in my m/m love story? outrage!' right?#anyway the 'nobody likes men except the protags' is so funny in MDZS because of Xuexiao specifically #notable danmei author MXTX I find it very unlikely that the plot you repurposed from an earlier novel project was Just Guys Being Dudes!!#unrebloggable bc this fandom gets WEIRD when ppl say anything that could even be construed as critical of craft
