Alright, so I've been a fan of Shane, Ryan and even Steven since their buzzfeed days and I've been watching this whole thing with Watcher moving their content over to their own streaming service debacle.
Like most ppl, I think it's a poor business move to alienate your fans like this, but I've been thinking on it more from maybe a financial perspective. I'm wondering how many people actually signed up for it. I saw a tiktok advertising expert say that the conversion rate for ads--meaning the number of ppl to actually buy something when they see an ad is about 1-5%. Like, right now they have about 2.8 million subscribers. And even though they've lost about 50K since and counting, they probably anticipated some loss. I'm sure they've mathed that if they just get at least like 100K conservatively out of their nearly 3 million fanbase to sign up, they'd be able to make $600K a month from their streaming service at six bucks a pop each month.
Maybe that's worth it? I'm not exactly sure how much they were making before. Ppl say they had 11K subscribers on patreon before but that's just their member total. Actual paid members was about 5K. But despite the controversy, their patreon member count has actually gone up. Today it sits at 12K members total with nearly 6K members paying. So they're making at least $30K-70K+ a month currently on patreon based on their offered tiers. not sure how much they were making on ad revenue alone or sponsors cuz I'm not sure how that stuff works on youtube. But maybe by their own accounting they think the loss of followers was worth it if they can hang on to that small, loyal but paying minority.
Another youtuber has pointed out that if you have a sponsor for a video and it's a one off, it can pay more. Up to $35K. So if that is the peak and they release 1 video a week, so 4 a month would be like 140K a month on sponsor money. And youtube pays about $10 per 1000 views a video, and they average 1 mil each video. So about $40K a month on views. So we can guess that they made about $180K a month currently on youtube (patreon and merch sales not included).
Honestly, if they can reach the goal of 1-5% of their subscribers converting to their streaming platform, yeah they probably would make more money in the long run. IF they can somehow manage to retain as well as grow those number of subscribers on their new platform. And don't forget, they don't plan to delete their current videos on their youtube channel so they'll still be earning revenue from those videos. We'll have to see I guess given how much goodwill they've lost with their audience.
Tbh, I am all for them trying to get paid more for their work but I also think they could have transitioned much differently, like only putting some exclusive content on their own platform while also posting free shows to youtube. Or maybe delaying releases for a week or a month for youtubers. or cutting back your production costs if it's really killing you cuz everyone has pointed out they liked the ghoul boys when it was just a black screen with text scrolling by saying "wheeze." Only time will tell if this move paid off for them.
But I'm not super knowledgeable on how the entire youtube thing works so if someone has some insight, feel free to weigh in.

"Sebastián"
Tumblr media
-Oh shit ! I knew the price was too good to be true- When I bought this leather suit on the internet, I couldn't believe how cheap it was. I had been saving for years to buy one of those suits, but now that I have it on I think I have to admit it is a scam.
It is supposed to be the body of a handsome dark skinned Puerto Rico guy, but this is far from the sample photo on Amazon.
Tumblr media
The package arrived at my house early, and I was very excited I even cleared my schedule to enjoy my new suit as it deserved, the package was wrapped in a whole roll of tape which seemed strange at first, I ran excited with a couple of scissors in one hand and the package with the suit in the other towards my room despite being completely alone in my house I closed the door. Slowly, I undressed in front of the mirror to take one last look at my original body.
It's not that I was ugly, I actually considered myself an athlete, strong athletic, handsome and maybe a little arrogant, I wanted to experience being someone else, someone new, and no one better like “Sebastián” I didn't know where that suit came from, but it was exactly what that I wanted, handsome and exotic.
Impatiently I quickly removed my clothes just leaving my red underpants on taking one last photo of my body
I took the suit out of the box and spread it out on my bed, completely ignoring the sheet of paper that was at the bottom of the box. It looked a little strange, maybe a little bigger than normal, but it was the first time I had seen a leather suit in real life, so I did not give it much importance and I undressed completely.
I sat on my bed and slowly unzipped the leather suit and inserted one of my feet inside the leather suit, inside it was sticky and somewhat tight, but I didn't stop, I inserted my other foot until my feet touched the bottom of I suit followed with the rest of my legs and then the rest of my body, the suit somehow looked bigger than it was seen in the photos -Maybe ... are they muscles? - I said to myself as I put my hand behind My back to be able to close the zipper of the suit, maybe I did it fast or too hard or maybe the suit was of poor quality but when closing the zipper it detaches from the suit and falls to the ground.
When the suit was completely closed my body began to change as the skin clung to my body a lot of fat began to fill my body, my sixpack was replaced by a huge belly and my hard pecs turned into a pair of tits of Fat. Something was wrong now, he was sure of that.
When I saw myself in the mirror I was horrified by my reflection I was no longer the handsome and thin athlete, now I was "Sebastian" an overweight nerd, as if my life depended on finding the zipper I started looking for it on the floor of the whole room but something I was wrong with my eyes, I went to the box and was able to find a pair of glasses that allowed me to see correctly.
In addition to the glasses, there was the note that he had not read "in case of wanting permanent suit, break off the zipper and enjoy your new self it "said in huge red capital letters, I think I will have to stay as Sebastian for a while until I solve this.

Support your favorite creative(s) this season!
So, it’s the holiday season (for values of holiday which can be anything you care to celebrate during the winter months) and you would like to support your favorite creative(s). What are some good ways to do that?
Tell the world about them
If someone is a favorite of yours, there’s a good chance that you know someone else who will enjoy their work. Signal boost the creative’s posts. Create your own post with links to their work. Showcase some of your favorite pieces of theirs with a snippet and a link to the original. Talk about why you love the work (trust me, your favorite creative will love to hear this just as much as your friends will appreciate finding out about something new).
Important side note which I know you know but it bears repeating: please reblog and link to your favorite creative’s posts; do not repost their material. Reposting might sound like a great way to show off what the creative does, but it doesn’t help anyone find them. Please be considerate.
Post reviews of their work
Instructions for this depends on what type of creative you are following. If they are a writer, leave a review on Goodreads, Storygraph, Amazon, B&N, whatever platform you choose. Positive reviews are how writers get discovered.
If your creative is an artist and has a platform where they offer commissions, leave a review there if appropriate. Give them five stars. Help your creative climb the ranks from unknown to well-reviewed!
Follow them on social media
If your creative has a list of social media accounts, follow them! This gives you a better chance to help signal boost their cool stuff (as well as hearing about it when they post!). It also gives you a chance to interact, and to see what they’re like when they aren’t creating. If you like their creations, you might have other things in common.
Does your creative have a newsletter? Subscribe! You can even forward copies to your friends if there’s something really cool you want to share. A Patreon? Check to see if they have free material posted. Many Patreons allow people to follow at a free level, and while there might be paywall-locked material, there might be unlocked material as well.
Social media is wide and varied these days, with everything from Bluesky and Mastodon, to old-school Facebook pages, to even older-school platforms like Dreamwidth. Don’t forget the little known Pillowfort, or the highly fannish Tumblr. Even better, be aware that your creative may present different faces in different spaces. They are just as human as the rest of us!
Talk to them
I’m serious! Being a creative is like shouting into the abyss… if the abyss happens to shout back, that’s emotional food that can sustain a creative for days. Most creatives have several places where they can be found, either for private communication (check to see if they accept messages/DMs/emails first, please) or for public conversation (social media can be wonderful!).
Create a transformative work
This won’t work for all creatives. BUT. If your creative is a writer, I would place a bet that they would LOVE fanart of their work. Or maybe that’s just me.
Buy their stuff
Yes, this one requires money, and I am well aware that most of us don’t have the budget for monetary support. And that’s fine! As shown above, there are so many other ways to support your creative and help them grow. But if you do have the budget, picking up copies of their work means you can get great gifts for your friends (and help spread the word!). And if you’re up for it, monthly support via Patreon, or random tips are always nice and appreciated things.
Ask them what will help
In the end, every creative has their own list of things that will help them most, and almost every single one would be happy to tell anyone what would help Right Now.
I’m putting this next bit behind a cut/read-more/clicky-link — whatever is appropriate to the platform you’re reading this on. Because this is the personal bit where I add links to the places you can find me.
And if you are a creative and you are reblogging this on a platform which allows reblogs, please add your own list of helpful information. If it’s a place with comments, please comment! I want to help by giving other creatives a way to get information out.
Where can you find me…?
TrisLawrence.com is my professional website, with blog posts, upcoming appearances, and links to where to find my Stuff.
I post blog entries on Tumblr, Pillowfort, and Dreamwidth (which mirrors on Livejournal and Insanejournal).
I babble randomly on Bluesky and Mastodon. While I exist on Twi-X, I no longer post there.
I have a professional Facebook page. I have an Instagram. I have a TikTok that I am trying to learn how to use.
I am also active in several Discord communities, if you happen to find me there.

I just read the kissing both story on your Patreon, and I absolutely love it! But, alternatively- the pillars, aka the school council, are roped into doing a kissing booth for the school festival. A. Because everyone has crushes on them B. Because they're leaders. None are happy about it, but they put up with the huge line anyway. Until-in comes Tanjirou. "Oh-I was told you guys didn't really want to do this....I know this is still kissing but-" pulls out a decent amount of cash "-I figured it be nicer to do this with someone you know. Or, at least that's what Inosuke and Zenitsu say. If not, I can buy you guys a break!" As he shoves the cash in whoever's hand.
Suddenly the Pillars freeze and Tanjirou starts thinking they're mad at him. Of course, they didn't actually want to do that...
"This could be just a break... You don't have to–"
"I'm sorry, but we're closing the booth! No more kisses today!" Shinobu tells the people behind Tanjirou who immediately groan and mumble something like "it's not fair, just because their crush is here!" Which Tanjirou doesn't understand at all.
"That's more than okay! You can keep the money though, you've worked hard for–"
"No, darling!" Mitsuri grabs Tanjirou's arm to stop him from leaving. "Where do you think you're going?"
"You said the booth was closed!"
"Not for you," Muichiro assures him. "Never for you!"
"We've been waiting for you to show up the whole day, my boy!"
"What? What do you mean, Rengoku-senpai?"
"Don't mind him!" Sanemi growls, pulling Tanjirou to the other side of the booth. "Let's get to the kissing part already!"
"But I thought you didn't want that!"
"You're different, Tanjirou," Gyomei assures him.
"So... You'll be getting a lot of kisses from each of us today," Tengen purrs, already leaning into Tanjirou's personal space.
"I think you're mistaken, I only brought enough money for one kiss from each of you," Tanjirou argues, turning completely red.
"Tanjirou," Giyuu cups Tanjirou's face with both hands, looking completely serious before adding: "We'd kiss you for free."
"Oh! That's–"
Obanai kisses him first, shutting him up. At some point, after the third or fourth round of kisses, Tanjirou stops feeling his lips.

Writblr Summoning Circle Intro
Hello and welcome to my shrine place of power writing blog. I'm Ceph, they/them, and despite the ghostly username I am, in fact, a regular human adult with a job, college homework, skin, blood, etc. Video games, houseplants, and buying books faster than I read them are just a few of my hobbies.
I write different flavors of fantasy mostly, with sprinkles of horror and romance/spice thrown in for pizzazz. If you're interested in...
Vampires, werecreatures, necromancers, merfolk, and/or passive-aggressive poltergeists
Resourceful protagonists in terrible peril who sometimes make choices that change things forever, for better or worse
Enemies becoming forced allies and maybe more in some cases
Themes of solidarity, the myriad facets of love, and people fighting for a better future
Slow burns
Worldbuilding that I definitely don't make up on the fly
Mortals becoming deities and vice versa
Telepathic monsters that could devour your soul -OR- become your best friend
Liminal spaces like roadside diners at 3 a.m
...you might find my WIPs tolerable. Possibly even fun.
Follow this blog @dysthanasia-series and/or @the-primrose-path-story to get notifications for new chapters and other neat story-related stuff. Or just ask to be put on a taglist for a WIP you're interested in. You can also read for free on Patreon and AO3.
I welcome asks, prompts, writblr events (Worldbuilding Wednesday, etc.), and any interactions that lead to transmutating Internet strangers into friends. Do tell me about your characters and lore. I want to devour know all of it. Yes, even the obscure facts that never really make it into the story despite hours of research poured into them. Especially those.
My reading habits include a steady diet of fantasy, horror, whump, and smut sometimes all four rolled into one but I'll happily consume a wide variety of works and styles. Check out @coven-archives to see what I'm reblogging from fellow writers.
That's pretty much it. Feel free to reblog or like this post or invite me into an object you own at the stroke of midnight if you want me to give a follow.
Tumblr media
Below the cut you'll find a list of WIPs and links to read them which will increase my power every time you click one. Content advisories are at the top of each work and chapter.

Succubuns Vent. So now that their Patreon has gotten taken down, it seems that they offer the tier rewards for the species items for sale on the site. and they're looking to make their own subscription function for their site similar to what was going on with Patreon. which i mean cool whatever. but like I couldn't help but start noticing something about this, like. they even said they wont be able to offer the same rewards as they did on the Patreon, which is like. yeah you subscribe for Patreon specific things along with the in game items. that was the entire point of the subscriptions was to get the additional content that was advertised along the in game rewards. But now its just... paying money for their items. that they've jacked up the difficulty to get because they've come out with new traits, revamped old ones, and jacked the prices up on their in game items, and also they've made it more difficult to earn currency from their prompts through the requirements to get a slightly decent payout for your efforts put into the work that you do. its becoming less enjoyable to actually do prompts due to payout and these weird weekly restrictions that they're doing , and if you don't have time to dedicate to a polished work that may or may not even be accepted due to their arbitrary rules you're already at a disadvantage. Not to mention if you get the items, and traits, and fun things that you want to make your rabbit. you have to go through the pains of the MYO approvals process, which despite their entire claims that they're trying for consistency. their constant flip flopping on what is and isn't accepted becomes in itself completely draining especially if you get multiple denials with different things pointed out each time. So you fork out money to get your traits, only for a MYO denial. on top of that if you're the type that likes making multiple designs they've changed it so that you are limited in how many baskets you can purchase at once with the free currency, and how many submissions you can make a month. So you make one rabbit, wanna make another but either have to find someone willing to give you their slot or buy another from them when they have sales, or from the predatory free market they have. Which leads to my next thing Their adopts are almost completely impossible to get because you have to fight tooth an nail against others in bid wars, or pray that you might be lucky enough to win a raffle for the more affordable flat sales. and even if you get an official design with their new rules if you did ever want to add a trait to the design. or change it in any way, you have to pay even more money to the artist that made the rabbit. and that's even if they are open to accept changes. so your options if you cant pay for changes are trade it in for a MYO slot ( which then goes back to the MYO problem) or sell it or trade it on the market place for it to either get inflated or stuck in an endless loop of transfers. its just wild to me... this whole thing. TLDR: Succubuns has a shitty system and is basically turning to a " pay to win" mentality.

hey barb i was wondering if you had any advice on how to start out with writing an if more publicly? like where to post when absolutely no one knows of it, how to get people to notice and give it a try, how to find the right audience etc
Oh boy.
I'm not sure what to tell you, anon. I wish I had better advice. All I can tell you is what I did/am doing and hope that gives you some insight.
I started Blood Moon in October 2020 because I was feeling lonely and insecure and wanted to do something completely different with my writing. I wrote the first three chapters, put them on Dashingdon, and made a post about it on the Choicescript Forum and on Tumblr a few months later.
I updated the game every month for two years and shared it for free.
I now have just over 3k followers on tumblr which is incredible. It's more followers than I've ever had on any social media. A lot of people send me fun things to reblog and positive messages. I also get messages from the Choicescript Forum.
This network of people helped me playtest Blood Moon and gave me the support and encouragement I needed while writing.
I don't know if a lot of people will buy or play Blood Moon when it comes out. I hope so. I think Blood Moon is an awesome game. I'm really proud of it. But publishing is a brutal business and my writing hasn't sold well in the past, so while I'm still hopeful, I'm keeping my expectations fairly low.
Other interactive fiction authors have managed to get far bigger followings than I in far less time. Some run Patreon accounts which is never something I felt confident enough to try. I still have a lot of self esteem issues when it comes to myself and my writing, though I am working on that and trying to get better. I do have a KoFi page and usually get about $30 a month via that, which is incredible. Those donations helped me cover the costs of hiring an artist for Blood Moon, and has been another avenue of support. I'm really thankful for that.
And... that's it. That's my Interactive Fiction career thus far.
I hope that gives you some helpful insights, anon. Writing Interactive Fiction has been really good for me. It's helped me grow as a writer, and build my self confidence. It's been fun too. I genuinely enjoy all the extra plotting that goes into constructing a branching story.
I hope you write your story and that you have fun doing it. I also hope you can find a community of readers to help support you. I know sharing your work publicly for the first time can be really scary. When I posted Blood Moon I was terrified. The first time someone found an error I freaked out (I distinctly remember saying 'this is my nightmare' in a discord server at the time... over one error... which seems ridiculously dramatic now but felt very true at the time). But, slowly, I've got more comfortable and happier with sharing myself and my writing.
It's a journey, and everyone's journey is different. Don't compare yourself to others. Have fun. Write what you love. And, never forget, one error isn't the end of the world.
💙

Things I would do if I were rich:
* Subsidize a different artist's commissions every week, on the conditions that they 1) Prioritize people who've been supportive, but always lament not being able to throw money their way, and 2) Let me know the lowest price those people commonly throw out, so I can make sure it's within their reach.
* Pay more than fair taxes, and either don't request a refund, or put my refunds to charity - whichever seems better.
* Leave a $200 tip on every meal out with a note attached saying "pay it forward!"
* Leave $50 bills under boxes of ramen/really cheap food at grocery stores.
* Commission loads of stuff, from music to games to stories to art, and pour it *all* into the public domain.
* Buy the rights to various properties, also just to release them into the public domain.
* Buy WinRar.
* Put out huge bounties for different random ideas that occur to me - "Write this story/make this art/design this game, and I'll send you $500!"
* With permission, order printings of single copies of long stories online I like, and drop them into the "free bin" at used bookstores.
* Find books I like at independent bookstores, pay way too much for them at the counter, and either once again put them in the free bin, or tell the person working the register to offer them to someone else.
* Stuff tip jars.
* Give money to people I trust with different perspectives, and tell them to go crazy with it, as long as however they do makes the world a better place.
* Randomly order UberEats for friends (including online ones), and tip 40%.
* Give away Adobe Creative Cloud subscriptions.
* Get Patreon memberships at the highest tier from everyone I even mildly follow.
* Every year, buy tickets in the mosh pit for every concert in the tour of a different band. See if they notice the same face always being there every night. (Stolen from Tumblr; sadly can't find the post.)
* Instantly complete every single GoFundMe that I come across.
* Gift ALL the Twitch subs.
* Fund game preservation initiatives.
* Hire homeless people to do sidewalk chalk art wherever they like, of whatever they like, for $200/hour.
* Put the same cryptic message in the classifieds of every newspaper released in the country on a single day.
* Do the “Tip the worker every time the Karen starts yelling at them” thing.
* Pay to remove ads at every opportunity.
* Every day, give a random person a $20 bill.
* Preorder EVERYTHING (big help for small books and games!)
* Bail out local places that are failing.
* Offering to fund the building of small arcades (only a few games, Pizza Hut style) at random restaurants.

Room & Board - Part 10 PREVIEW (Vampire x Reader)
Anon submitted this prompt: For the prompt submissions a vampire that feels guilty after feeding/attacking someone so they leave obscenely valuable ancient artifacts as payment/an apology?

🦇 🦇 🦇
Early access to the chapter is available on Patreon!
Or consider “buying me a coffee” on Ko-Fi?
Comments, tags, and reblogs are real motivators for me, too! (●ˇ∀ˇ●)
Also, my inbox is always open for asks, so don’t be shy!
🦇 🦇 🦇
A sudden surge pulses through the air between the two as their eyes meet. It’s like unseen forces, snapping jaws at each other. In that moment, you are painfully aware of how they dwarf you in height, though Tabaeus is certainly taller than Ewan.
Ewan’s nostrils flares, his eyes narrowing as his head cocks to the side at Tabaeus. The smile on his lips loses its friendliness and you can’t help but think of it like a snarl. “Yeah. We used to work together at the mall.”
“How intriguing,” Tabaeus purrs as they raise their eyebrows. Their hands twitch on yours. Something is not being said between the two and you’re not entirely sure it has anything to do with you. A masked sort of haughtiness mingles with jest as Tabaeus nods to Ewan’s work shirt. “From the mall to the streets? Some would consider that a step down.”
“I work in a lot of places,” Ewan retorts, his eyebrows lowering as the slightest bite of embarrassment flushes their cheeks. Your former colleague angles their attention back to you, though they seem to have a hard time not glaring at Tabaeus’s arms locking you in place. “Who’s this guy?”
With a sigh, you nod to the vampire, “This is Tabaeus, my roommate. They/them.”
“And he/him,” they added, with a pointed tone to Ewan. You think they give your hands another squeeze, but you’re not entirely certain it was a conscious movement.
“And he/him,” you correct yourself. Craning your neck to look up at Tabaeus, you try to catch their eyes with your own meaningful look. However, the vampire’s attention is squarely on your former colleague. “This is Ewan, he/him.”
“Pleasure.” The word comes out more like a hiss as Tabaeus flashes a smile at Ewan. You want to groan, seeing that the vampire’s fangs are on full display.
Thankfully, Ewan doesn’t seem put off as he mimics Tabaeus’s polite toothy grimace with one of his own. Part of you wonders if his canines have always been so angular and sharp. “Likewise.”
The pressure in the air weighs heavier than it did before. A need to do something to alleviate the tension shoots through you, instinct telling you something bad will happen if you don’t.
“I won’t keep you, Ewan.” Behind you, Tabaeus relaxes, until you add with a softer tone, “We can text or chat online later, okay?”
Tabaeus completely forgotten, Ewan’s attention turns fully to you. The friendliness returns to his smile, his posture easing. “Sure. Your number on your receipt?”
You mirror his smile and give a nod, even as you feel a strange coldness wrap around Tabaeus. Their stillness has a strange air to it, but you try to ignore it. “Yeah, feel free to snag it there and shoot me a text.”
“Cool, cool.” Ewan glances at the copy of the receipt he has in hand, as if already dedicating your number to memory in his head. Your stomach swirls as he looks back up at you, offering you that warm smile - not even glancing at Tabaeus - before he turns to go. “Well, have a good night.”
Awkwardly, you and Tabaeus watch Ewan trod down the walk to his car, though you get the distinct impressions you watch the delivery man for different reasons. Once Ewan turns his car on, Tabaeus yoinks the food from your grasp and heads inside.
You spin around, glaring at the vampire’s back after you shut and lock the door. They don’t seem to notice. “What was that about?”

Miss, PhD (XI)
WC: 900+ words Warnings: Fluff. Steve being a dumbass. Slow burn. Mutual pining.
If you like my work, consider buying me a coffee or subscribing to my Patreon. It’s just $2 a month and helps a lot while I go through these hard times.
Masterlist
Tumblr media
“Text her,” Bucky spoke by his side. “What are you waiting for?”
Steve pressed his lips in a thin line.
He was… waiting.
He didn’t know what for, obviously.
So, Steve had said he was going to text you, and you had both agreed you would be going out for a meal - or a coffee, or a snack - whenever you were free and not tangled in your research.
“She is probably busy,” he rolled his eyes.
You had a whole PhD to take care of. The last thing he wanted was to disrupt your process of studying.
“She hates her PhD subject, you said it yourself,” Nat stood by his side, crossing her arms. “And that’s what texts are for, Steve. You text someone, and they answer when they are able to.”
Bucky scoffed.
“He won’t say anything, he won’t text her,” he saw on one of the chairs in his classroom.
It was one of his office days, when he didn’t teach and students just came over to discuss school matters. No one had shown up today, except, of course, for Natasha and Bucky, who apparently had nothing else to do with their lives.
“He has a crush on her,” his childhood best friend stared at him. “And when Stevie has a crush, he gets paralysed, because he feels like that old skinny, bony, asthmatic boy who was too shy for his own good.”
He wasn't a child anymore, why was he even bringing that up?
"Give me that," Natasha snatched his phone out of his hands. "I always gotta do all the work with you, fucking hell."
As she walked away, he turned to look at Bucky.
"Don't call me that," he pinched the bridge of his nose.
"Well, you are acting like that," he crossed his arms. "It's not like I'm wrong."
"This is different," he tried to argue.
You were just a friend of his. Sure, Steve thought you were beautiful and extremely clever-
"What is different?" Bucky insisted. "You are interested in a pretty girl and is afraid of talking to her, and you are putting all those barriers between you two."
"I'm not," he argued, already feeling his face flushing in embarrassment.
"You literally convinced yourself she was just 17, Steve," Natasha spoke in the other side of the room. "She clearly isn't. I've been around her a bunch of times, and she has grey hairs already, she looks like someone in her mid-twenties."
Alright, so maybe he had willed himself into thinking you were someone unavailable, but they couldn’t blame him. You were a prodigy, a genius since a young age, how would he know you weren’t young anymore?
His best friend turned to her, intrigued.
"Grey hairs, really?"
She was right. Your hair was peppered with a few grey hairs. There was nothing wrong with it, obviously, but they were there.
"She is under a lot of stress," she remarked. "I'm surprised she doesn't have forehead wrinkles like Steve over there, and you."
Steve shot her a confused look just as Natasha looked at his phone with curiosity.
"You are 32," he remarked. "Why don't you have wrinkles?"
"Cause I moisturise twice a day and get Botox injections twice a year, and I'm 33 and not 53," she rolled her eyes. "She's been typing and stopping for five minutes already."
He made note of the age correction, but jumped closer to her to see what the hell she was talking about. Had she said anything?
Were you trying to say anything?
"Did she say anything?"
No. The chat was completely empty.
"Text her," Bucky added quickly. "She is trying to gather courage to do it. Text her! Say hi!"
Natasha tapped a ‘hi’ quickly, and his heart quickened up in his chest as a little bubbly of text answered very fast with a little hey.
So maybe you were waiting for him to text you?
Did you think he was  taking too long? That he wasn’t interested?
“There you go,” she gave it over to him. “You have your conversation started.”
Steve scoffed, rolling your eyes, but was quick to move his attention away when his eyes fell on another text from you.
‘How are you?’
‘I’m okay,’ he answered back quickly. ‘Just finishing closing my classroom after my office hours.’
Natasha and Bucky hovered over him, looking curious, and he rolled his eyes.
“Well?” he asked.
“Ask her out,” Natasha answer, simply. “What are you waiting for?”
A message popped out on his phone, and he moved his focus back to it.
‘I’m leaving the lab now. Do you want to maybe eat something?’
“Say yes,” Bucky said quickly. “You got nothing to do after that today.”
Steve typed down a 'yes' before he could think of anything else, eager to see you.
"See?" Natasha elbowed his side. "That wasn't so hard!"
He rolled his eyes, but looked back at his phone when a text popped up again.
'I'll see you in the main quad?'
Bucky pushed his shoulder, already carrying his backpack.
"Did you just shove everything inside?" he frowned.
"Nothing broke on the way," his friend rolled his eyes. "So don't worry."
Steve scoffed, but took it from his hand, throwing it over his shoulder.
"Don't leave her waiting," Natasha crossed her arms. "And take your head out of your ass, Stevie."
"Don't call me that," he rolled his eyes.
Bucky, however, just ignored it.
"Come on, Stevie. Let's lock this room up and get you to your date."
Yeah, he really wasn't ever going to drop that.
“Fine,” he rolled his eyes. “Come on, let’s go. You two, get out.”

Hello! Can I ask about how Kofi works for writers? I am thinking about starting one, and the main hurdle is that I don’t seem have enough readers (or they just don’t want to interact)?
Hello!
Idk if I'm the right person to ask for this, but I'll have a crack.
The short answer:
You should do it! (Just don't link it directly to AO3!!!*) The reader count doesn't matter so much as the passion of your readers. Having said that, I don't see it as a consistent or significant stream of income for myself. I also don't engage with other writers/communities with money or engagement numbers at the forefront of my mind. That's the quickest way to make yourself sad.
The longer answer:
For the mechanics of things, Kofi has a whole post about how writers use their service. Other services out there function similarly. Think about why you want to create a Kofi. That will help you noodle out whether it's just going to be an casual thing your readers can contribute to, or whether you need a posting and subscription plan for a more professionalised approach. For example, since I don't write to any human-identifiable schedule, I stick with one off payments, but you might be different!
Since I'm on a fandom blog answering this, and since I know people will have opinions, I just want to say upfront: fandom is gloriously free for good reason, and should forever remain that way. I don't expect to get paid for writing anything that I'm posting on the internet on an already freely-accessible site, and I actually don't think I'd have bothered making a Buy Me A Coffee** page if I was just writing fic and posting it.
I had two encounters that convinced me to make one. The first was someone reaching out after reading one of my original pieces asking if I had a Patreon or something similar (that was v flattering - in fact, I still freak out about it!). The second was one of my mutuals saying, "I wish we could have a coffee IRL!" This is not a significant stream of income for me at all, and I don't think I would want it to be because engagement is key with stuff like this, and that can be a bit soul-sucking if you don't have it and are trying to get it. I suppose it's the same as the reads/bookmarks/kudos/comments ratio on AO3 - you can get caught up in those numbers, and that's never fun, so my advice would be not to stress out too much about it. Putting energy and love and time and attention into the work rather than the stats has always led to better outcomes for me.
How to get engagement probably deserves it's own separate post, but I find that, generally, what you get out of a community is proportional to what you put in. Interacting fairly frequently (and genuinely ofc) with a wide set of other creators/fandomers will usually lead to more genuine engagement on your own work.
At the end of the day, I'd say go for it!
Just have realistic expectations about what you'll get out of it, especially at first. Like all things, there's no cheating the clock on engagement.
That was very rambly. I hope it helped!
*Lawsuits - this is how AO3 gets lawsuits.
**BMaC is a similar service I chose after finding it hard to retain my anonymity on Kofi.

Once upon a time, I asked you if posting some/all of a story on Patreon counted as “publishing” in the eyes of contracts that want “first digital rights” or “unpublished” stories or whatever. IIRC, you said Patreon was more like an email list in that it only went out to certain people. I have a followup question to that. Somebody I know started posting their original fiction on Substack, which is mostly billed as a newsletter site. There’s an option to make it free to read and to require a paid subscription, same way Patreon can do public posts and patron-only posts. Presumably, the paid option on either would count as the “email list” you talked about and not tick the “first digital rights” box.
I am a glutton for audience interaction and the little dopamine hit I get when people comment on things I’ve written. I like having people read as I go, because then I get a little reward when I finish a chapter. However, I don’t think I have the right brain space to do straight self-publishing, due to all the non-writing hats one must wear. Pretty sure I’d make myself sick. Putting things on a paid Substack/Patreon seems like a potential solution, but presumably there’s an element of trust that has to be established before someone would just casually pay for content.
So my question is, would posting stories without a paywall render them ineligible for traditional publishing? Could I get away with posting a preliminary draft for free, and then switching them to paid once I started revising? Or posting like the first act free and have the subsequent chapters be paid, I don’t know. I’m desperately looking for a way to make my whims cooperate with one another that isn’t just “revisit this when you’re super famous and can then do whatever you want a la Brandon Sanderson.”
If I understand it correctly, Subtack and Patreon both can be either free or paid -- but either way, the people who are seeing it are people who are SUBSCRIBED to it. Right? In other words, for people to see it, they either have to log in, or purposely opt-in to having it emailed to them?
That's not the same thing as "publishing" it -- it's just not. I promise you nobody will care.
Now - you should probably put some kind of like PARAMETERS on this, and a disclaimer or something -- don't share every bit of it, and make it clear that this is a *work in progress* and not a fully edited and finished book, etc etc. And probably you'd want to take it down before you start querying/submitting in earnest. Because, you know, eventually, if you sell the book to a publisher, it will change in revision -- and you'd probably like for people who follow you to want to BUY it, rather than thinking "meh, I already read that whole thing for free." Yanno?

You're no different than the people who puts up sims 4 for pirate download.
Seeing you violated some of the creator I've supported for so many years for their quality that ea failed to give us is heartbreaking. Yes they are paywalled but there are also free stuffs which some are lucky enough to get especially for those that want to enjoy their cc but couldn't afford to donate and support them. Sit down and try to make cc yourself and see if you could get to their quality level under one week. These talents takes years of practice and paid programs to used as well as sims 4 and other program use to make cc , they are not free in the first place. Claiming your doing a good will but violating peoples hard work on making the game better is stupid. If you cant afford to pay or donate creator you are fond of for their style then just stick to the free maxis stuff you can find , its really that simple. You're just an unemployed hypocrite who couldn't afford less than 4$ donation, seeking followers and attention by leaking creators contents .
Hello! Hope you're doing well! I see we're starting off angry!
I can see where you're coming from since I too, was once an ass-kisser of Paywall Creators- however, let me explain this thoroughly.
It truly does not matter if a creator offers free content alongside Paywall content. It's still breaking the TOS set by EA/Maxis. This is an issue on THEIR part because they're legally not allowed to make money off of the game while holding the content behind the paywall. Early Access? Completely fine, you can hold stuff behind the paywall for months and people like me who upload locked content won't bat an eye.
I get you want the creators I post to love you and commend you for standing up for them, very heartwarming. It still doesn't excuse what they're doing. Just because someone makes beautiful content, doesn't excuse the fact that they're not following TOS, which is legally related, and can get their accounts deleted and overall banned from even owning the game if they don't change this.
Also, I don't think I've ever claimed it's a goodwill of mine to do this. I think the only similar thing I've said is that I'm happy to help people- which I am considering some creators locked content behind a $20 paywall, which is ridiculous. You're telling me, you want to pay $20 MONTHLY, just to receive content for a game you paid for in general? Even if the person didn't buy the sims, and they got it when it was released for free, buying packs to add to the game is already enough money.
I know you don't really care, but I'm actually not unemployed! I wouldn't be able to spend $50+ a month to buy certain creators' patrons if I was unemployed. So, I can afford a $4 donation, or whatever you're trying to say, and I donate to creators I love who don't lock their content behind a paywall! But it's okay, sometimes when you're unemployed yourself, you try to push that agenda onto others to make yourself feel less sad, and that's okay! It didn't work on me but you'll get someone else next time.
Another thing, the program that you claim the creators pay for? It's Blender, which is completely free. So cut the bullshit with that.
What I do isn't knocking down their hard work. I commend their hard work, and I find it sad that they think locking it behind a Paywall will make things better for them. The content they create isn't /theirs/ as the game they're creating it for isn't rightfully owned by them, as well as they aren't following the TOS of the game they're creating for, which like I've said- is the problem!
If a creator does early access, and I'm posting their content- guess what? I delete it. A great example is Babyetears. She came to me and said her content was early access, I told her she needed to specify that on her Patreon, and boom. Content was removed, now people just have to wait for the content to go live.
I don't know if you think I'm somehow hacking into their Patreon, but I'm subscribed using my own money and downloading the stuff directly from there. So.. I don't think it's even close to pirating the Sims 4 since I rightfully bought the content LOL. Just say you don't have any knowledge of what goes on with people who upload paywall CC.
Anyways, I think I've addressed almost everything that was important. I hope you're just someone who is misinformed. If you have anything else to say, you can message me or continue to send anonymous messages since I know you won't message me. I hope you have a great day and I hope this made you feel a little bit more special to the creators since they /truly/ don't care about you and just want your money.
Thanks for the ask, take care, and happy pride month! 🌈(ᵔ◡ᵔ)

So.... There are modders out there who work to create stuff, stuff that you don't need to play the game and it takes them time and knowledge but you don't want to pay them? Okay. Maybe i'm the one who doesn't understand the problem? They work, they propose a product that you are in no way forced to buy but you don't want to? Then don't buy it? People donnt work for free what is this the 1660? What is the problem someone explain.
So.... There are modders out there who create stuff unto their own volition, stuff they were never forced to put their time into... they took it upon themselves to create something for a GAMING community that they once upon a time had a passion for... and for some (NOT ALL), that passion has soured.... And now they EXPECT payment to be made for something that (for some "artists") are stolen from other 3D modeling artists, in addition to using EA's original code, original files to port it into the game and blatantly profiting off of a company brand, not to mention exploiting its fans... That's like walking into a friend's closet, claiming you designed it, slapping a Dior patch on it and selling it. ILLEGAL. It's honestly about time EA put this new policy out, finally realizing the abuse that was happening right under their nose.
And just to be clear, I'm specifically calling out perma-paywallers. And you are right, I don't want to spend money on their work, nor have I. I know full well how to vote with my wallet, and I've done so. To creators in this community I feel are genuinely talented artists and deserving of support for their efforts. I pledge to a few different patreons for early access, knowing full well those items will be free evntually which could save money.. but I do this not because I'm FORCED to put my money in to get the items, rather because I'm in love with their work so much that I WANT to support them. That's literally it. If people love your work, they will support you if they can! Art was never meant to be monetized. Hobbies were never meant to be monetized! Especially in a world where hobbies are the only escape and solace the majority of people have to cope in this insane society structured around money and productivity.
So to answer your question, dear anon: The problem is morals. I cannot under my own conscious dump money into creators who have not only stolen art -- making profit off someone else's hard work -- but have also disrespected, doxxed, harrassed, and witch-hunted the people who actually supported them, calling others "poor" for not being able to buy their ridiculously overpriced pixels, crying about how Covid wrecked their lives the worst as if it didn't wreck us all, and throwing a tantrum over the latest devastation of a policy (which was always there) ruining their SOLE source of income that they never should have had in the first place.

Webcomic Day Rec List
Admittedly I'm not up to speed as I used to be with webcomics, but since it's Webcomic Day, I'll compile a list of stuff here. Everything here should be free to read online in one form or another, but obviously if you can tip folks, use subscription services, support patreons, or just buy ebook and/or physical copies to support the artists/writers, that's awesome!
Tumblr media
Complete comics
Tumblr media
Two Rooks by Alice Fox (complete, can purchase the whole series as a PDF on Fox's store):
A sort of post-apocalyptic story set in a world where a pandemic ripped cities apart, and put the government in the hands of various criminal organizations. Stars a queer protagonist on a quest to maybe assassinate someone, maybe figure out a mystery, maybe both. It's got political thriller, flirting, gunfights, and suspicious friendships, and it's overall really great.
Check Please! by Ngozi Ukazu (complete, you can purchase it as an ebook or a physical copy)
"Eric Bittle may be a former junior figure skating champion, vlogger extraordinaire, and very talented amateur pâtissier, but being a freshman on the Samwell University hockey team is a whole new challenge. It is nothing like co-ed club hockey back in Georgia! First of all? There’s checking (anything that hinders the player with possession of the puck, ranging from a stick check all the way to a physical sweep). And then, there is Jack—his very attractive but moody captain."
Tumblr media
Inverloch by Sarah Ellerton (complete):
"The story of Inverloch centers around a young man named Acheron, from a horned wolf-like race called the da'kor. After becoming enamoured with an elven girl, he finds himself setting out on a seemingly innocent mission - that of trying to locate Kayn'dar, her childhood friend who has been missing for the past twelve years.
Meeting up with new friends and companions along the way, he quickly begins to learn that the world is not quite the peaceful place he believed it to be - embroiled with prejudice, racial segregation, and hidden danger. And the truth behind Kayn'dar's disappearance is something none of the party would ever expect..."
The Phoenix Requiem by Sarah Ellerton (complete):
"On a cold December night, a gentleman stumbles into the town of Esk, gunshot wounds leaving a trail of blood in the snow behind him. Despite making a full recovery at the hands of an inexperienced nurse - and deciding to make a new life for himself in the town - he is unable to escape the supernatural beings, both good and bad, that seem to follow him like shadows.
As they try to discover why, the nurse must question her beliefs and risk her own life in order to protect her family, her friends, and those that she loves."
Tumblr media
The Sword Interval by Benjamin Fleuter (complete)
"The Sword Interval is about a world on the verge of a supernatural apocalypse. Most of humanity goes about their daily lives trying to ignore the constant threat of magic and monsters, but a few face these dangers head-on. Fall is one such person. She has left behind the sheltered safety of the paranormal witness protection program in order to hunt down the monster that killed her family."
A great science fantasy apocalyptic webcomic.
ONGOING WEBCOMICS
Tumblr media
My S-Class Hunters by geunseo, adapted by seri, with art by biwan
"Yoojin is an F-ranker overshadowed by his little brother, an S-ranker. All he does is get in his brother’s way, causing trouble wherever he goes. When a seemingly routine dungeon raid goes wrong and costs Yoojin his brother’s life, Yoojin decides to use the wish granted by clearing the dungeon to reset his timeline. The plan was to lead a quiet life from now on… but now it turns out he can help other people become S-rankers?! Maybe this is Yoojin’s chance at building his own entourage of powerful metahumans… but it may be easier said than done."
An absolutely phenomenal manhwa, entirely free to read in English on Webtoon. Some of the latest episodes are paywalled, but each week a new one comes out of paywall, so there's no rush if you just want to go the free route. Also on Tappytoon! The book it's based on is absolutely amazing as well: the main story is complete at 870 chapters, which was revised into 35 ebooks with added scenes, and is available to read in Korean on Ridibooks, munpia, and Naver. The sequel/Side Story is available in Korean on Naver, as it the manhwa.
Omniscient Reader by singNsong, adapted by UMI, art by Sleepy-C (volumes 1-2 are available to order in English, and volumes 3-4 are available for pre-order)
"Dokja was an average office worker whose sole interest was reading his favorite web novel 'Three Ways to Survive the Apocalypse.' But when the novel suddenly becomes reality, he is the only person who knows how the world will end. Armed with this realization, Dokja uses his understanding to change the course of the story, and the world, as he knows it."
Another absolutely phenomenal manhwa, entirely free to read in English on Webtoon. It's beautiful, funny, sad, angsty, with great world-building and wonderful characters, and the book it's based on is amazing: the revision is complete at 551 chapters, available in Korean on Munpia, and the sequel/Side Story is on-going.
Tumblr media
The Glass Scientists by S. H. Cotugno (you can order volume 1, and volume 2 is up for pre-order)
"London isn’t the safest place for mad scientists these days. After that whole ordeal with Frankenstein, angry mobs have gotten awfully good at hunting down monsters and wiping out anything they don’t understand. In fact, if it weren’t for one extraordinary young man, every out-of-the-box thinker would have been locked up . . . or worse.
That young man is none other than Dr. Henry Jekyll. He believes mad scientists would thrive if they could just fix their public image, which is why he founded the Society for Arcane Sciences, a place where like-minded eccentrics could come together to defy the laws of nature in peace.
But everything changes when a mysterious stranger arrives, bent on taking the Society in a radical new direction. With everyone turning against him, Jekyll’s life starts to spiral out of control, shattering all his carefully laid plans and threatening to expose his darkest secret—one that could destroy everything he has built from the inside out."
A wonderfully queer science fantasy retelling of some famous classics, and it's free to read in English online. The art is gorgeous, the characters are fun, and the story is great.
Bicycle Boy by Jackarais (you can buy PDFs on their store)
"Bicycle Boy is a post-apocalyptic sci-fi adventure comic by Jackarais.
Our protagonist--a cyborg who calls himself 'Poet'--cannot recall anything before the day he woke up in the middle of the desert, surrounded by corpses.
With no memories, no purpose and no idea what the hell is going on, he sets out to find answers."
Tumblr media
Lore Olympus by Rachel Smythe (available to purchase as a physical book in lots of places)
"Witness what the gods do…after dark. The friendships and the lies, the gossip and the wild parties, and of course, forbidden love. Because it turns out, the gods aren’t so different from us after all, especially when it comes to their problems. Stylish and immersive, this is one of mythology’s greatest stories -- The Taking of Persephone -- as it’s never been told before."
A really fun modern science fantasy play with lots of Greek mythology, with a focus on Persephone and Hades and navigating complex relationships, worker rights, and trauma. The art is beautiful, and it's free to read entirely online.
Shot and Chaser by E.K. (you can support E.K. on Patreon)
"SHOT AND CHASER is a story about storms. Esoteric lifemates Tre and Olly set out together and experience a literal whirlwind of a day in the Texas panhandle."
They also have an nsfw side comic with the protagonists that you can purchase digitally called Sweet Abilene.
Partially free/paid webcomics
Tumblr media
ENNEAD by Mojito (all the different ways to read, including a guide for the free options; currently available in physical release to varying extent in Korean, Taiwanese, English, German, Italian, and Japanese)
"The once peaceful land of Egypt has been stained with blood under the tyrannical rule of Seth, the god of war. Horus, son of the god Isis but not yet one himself, rises to challenge the throne and put an end to the chaos and destruction. Although the confrontation between Seth and Horus began with hatred, in time it becomes blurred by obsession and desire... The ancient mythology of Egypt comes to life as you've never seen it before in this compelling fantasy BL."
An absolutely wonderful boys love webcomic using ancient Egyptian mythology, that tackles a lot of neat themes, with wonderful characters and a great story.
