1. List of works published this year (in no particular order):
chapters 56-84 of With a Little Help From My Friends (completed 5/15/23)
Next Time I Fall (24 chapters, completed 12/19/23)
Lost and Found and Turned Around (7 chapters, completed 11/16/23)
2. Work you are most proud of (and why):
I’m incredibly proud of all my works, but I think probably I’m most proud of Next Time I Fall. I created a brand new rarepair, shaped a beautiful fluffy love story for them, and persevered through extreme personal difficulty to finish the fic despite the temptation to abandon it.
3. Work you are least proud of (and why):
There are a couple of chapters in Little Help that I feel aren’t as strong as they could’ve been. 64, 73, and 81 in particular. I don’t know what I should’ve done to make them better; I just know they needed more.
4. A favorite excerpt of your writing:
I’ll pick one little snippet from each fic…
Little Help:
Wayne waited until she’d finished her tiny blueberry slice and was debating over which to try next. “Actually, sugar,” he said quietly to Max, “I wanted to talk to you about that.”
“About what?” she asked, puzzled. “About gaining weight? That was a joke.”
“No.” He watched Eddie let Lucy lick a tiny smear of pie filling from his finger, despite Chrissy’s protest that sugar wasn’t good for cats. “About staying with us.”
A chill ran through her. “It’s still okay, right?” she said hesitantly. “My mom’s getting out of the rehab next week, but Claudia said I could stay longer if I needed to. But if that’s changed…” She trailed off, swallowing hard.
Wayne patted her shoulder. “Naw, sugar, that ain’t changed. You can stay long as you like. Fact is”— he rubbed the back of his neck, suddenly bashful— “fact is, what we really want is to keep you for good.”

Next Time I Fall:
Gareth couldn’t imagine having to grow up without his mom and dad. He thought of the way Janie held so tightly to his mom every time they hugged, and a lump formed in his throat.
“They never found your parents?” he whispered. “Baby, I’m so sorry.”
Honestly, he hadn’t even thought before speaking, he’d just blurted that out. But somehow it had been the right thing to say; Eddie and Chrissy’s tense expressions melted into something that looked like relief, and Janie’s crushing grip on his hand finally relaxed a little. Gareth laced his fingers through hers, giving her hand a little squeeze, before gently turning it to examine the small number tattooed on the inside of her wrist.
“Is that where this came from?” He lifted her hand to his lips, softly kissing the tiny 011. “Did they do that to you in the Lab?”
She nodded, tears spilling down her cheeks. “It was my name,” she murmured. “That is why everyone calls me El. El is short for Eleven.”
Fucking hell. Gareth felt tears running down his cheeks, too.

Lost and Found:
“Jane, you need to wake up!” Kali tried unsuccessfully not to shout. “You really are naive! They can always take you if they really want you. You need to face facts. Your policeman cannot protect you, you have to be able to protect yourself. Are your friends helping you with that? Is your boyfriend? No, they just want you to be ‘normal’. They want you to suppress your gifts instead of using them, and they want you to forget who you are and where you came from. And if I stay here they’ll do the same to me. Putting on their hypocritical smiles as long as I convert to their idea of normal. I don’t want to hide who I am, and neither should you, Jane. You can’t heal by hiding. The only way to heal is to face up to the truth, confront and conquer your past.”
“Stop calling me naive,” Jane snapped, “just because I am trying to accept my past instead of confronting it. I confronted Papa face to face, and then I let him die, and it did not change anything. All your revenge has not changed you either.” Just as quickly as her anger flared up, it dissipated again. Her voice softened, her entire demeanor settling into something more gentle. “You talk a lot about healing, but you are still so mad, Kali. I think I am more healed than you are. Maybe if you stayed here, as part of my family, maybe that can heal you like it did for me.”
5. Share or describe a favorite comment you received:
I love every single comment I get, truly I do. But I think the ones that made me smile the most this year were the few on Next Time I Fall that basically said ‘I never would’ve considered El and Gareth together but your fic made me ship them’. Is there any greater compliment? 😄
6. A time when writing was really, really hard:
Basically the last eight weeks have been awful. I got covid, and had barely recovered from that when a family emergency happened and I was thrown into the role of caregiver, and since then just more and more stuff keeps going wrong. I’m exhausted and honestly in a pretty dark place, mentally and emotionally, right now.
And yet. In spite of that I finished both Next Time and Lost and Found. Neither of them seem to have made any great impact— I barely even got any comments on either finale— but it was a goal of mine to finish them both and I’m still proud I managed to achieve that.
7. A scene or character you wrote that surprised you:
Kali, in Lost and Found, was so much fun to explore! I rewatched “The Lost Sister” before I started writing this fic, and I realized that I still hated her obnoxious friends but Kali herself was a super interesting character with a lot of potential. I had a lot of fun digging into what might possibly make her want to reconnect with El, and what would make her feel drawn to Steve. Also it surprised me how much I ship Stali now!
8. How did you grow as a writer this year:
I learned that my stories come out better when I write them the way I want them, instead of “taking requests” and pushing the characters in directions I wouldn’t have chosen if left to my own devices. I feel like certain parts of Little Help suffered because of this, so I resolved I’d stick to my own plans for Next Time and later Lost and Found, and I think those two fics came out better for it.
9. How do you hope to grow next year:
Next year, if I write any more, I want to somehow learn not to be so obsessed with stats. Stop comparing my kudos/comments count to other fics and feeling sad and inadequate. I have no idea how to accomplish this, but it’s where I need to be if I’m going to keep writing.
10. Who was your greatest positive influence this year as a writer (could be another writer or beta or cheerleader or muse etc etc):
Oh it’s 1000% @pearlypairings — she’s been all of the above for me and so much more! Lost and Found would never have happened without her, and Next Time would likely have been abandoned unfinished.
11. Anything in your real life show up in your writing this year:
Lots of things, yeah, I don’t think I can help adding little bits and pieces of myself to my stories. I write the kind of world I’d like to see, and populate it with characters I either want to be like or wish I’d had in my own life.
A very silly specific example, though, is that I made Eddie adopt a kitten because I lost my cat last year and I missed her so much.
12. Any new wisdom you can share with other writers:
Um. Not really? I don’t think I’m good enough yet to be passing on wisdom to others!!!
13. Any new projects you’re looking forward to starting (or finishing) in the new year:
I have a couple fun ideas jotted down in my Plot Bunnies folder, but no definite plans to start anything new right now. I gotta get out of this awful headspace before I can even think about new projects.

Ive been wondering this all day lol
How do you think jack would feel if MC tried to look more into his past( like with him being a "dead actor")
Or better yet what if MC were to find out about joseph and the fact that hes the actor who played him and has been missing/dead for over a decade and MC were to press jack to get answers out of him

I've actually answered this ask before over here. I'll do a quick summary here though.
As I've touched on in previous posts such as here and here, I believe that Joseph adopted the persona of the character of Sunny Day Jack as a defense mechanism he created while he was trapped in the tape after his violent and no doubt traumatic death. What happened to him during the incident of '84 and those long 40 years without sleep in a frigid hell... it must have been very damaging to his psyche. He denied the person he was and his past until he truly believed that he's always been the character he plays.
Like anyone in such a deep, deep level of denial, Jack is going to resist anything that might challenge the reality that he's created for himself. He only remembers that he used to be someone else when he's forced to, and it's deeply traumatic to him, as we've seen with his reaction to a certain yogurt combination...
Just like how Jack denied that anything was wrong and that he wasn't "that person" anymore... I'm pretty confident that he's going to try and prevent MC or anyone else from breaking that delusion he's created for himself. That means he'll resist anything that might challenge it.
This will mean that MC researching into the SunnyTime Crew Show and the actor who played Sunny Day Jack is going to challenge Jack's current identity. I expect this is going to be a big part of the game's story, and I expect misdirects, distractions, and even twisted logic to try to convince them and Jack that the existence of [Redacted] Haberdae doesn't contradict the truth he's created in his head.
MC has asked Jack about himself and his past before in the demo. I imagine that it's this twisted perception of the truth that Jack built for himself that made it hard for MC to really understand what he's saying. Jack has had 40 years to bury himself in the identity of the character he played and justify all this as the "truth" about himself. I imagine that logic is fairly flawed from an outside observer and might seem nonsensical in places.
How MC approaches things going forward, as well as how they treat and feel about Jack in general, is no doubt going to play a significant part in how he reacts to their investigation. If they are doing it out of concern for him and they think it's important that they get these answers, Jack will probably try to insist it's okay and that he appreciates their concern. From there, it's just a matter if they're capable of convincing him that this is the right route to take despite his instinctive resistance.
If MC is investigating because they think something is wrong with Sunny Day Jack and aren't sure about their relationship with him, well... Jack is going to need to do something to fix that, now won't he? It's for their own good after all...

I've got a lot of wips for a variety of fandoms that haven't yet seen the light of day. TMA most prominently of course, HFTH (and a few wips in the back burner), Murderbot Diaries, Star Trek, Sherlock Holmes, Tell No Tales podcast, and Mistholme Museum
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?

5. Do you respond to comments?
I do, although not nearly as regularly as I used to. It can take me months to respond, but I always will!
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
This Is Our Last Goodbye - Jon leaves Martin in the tunnels without saying goodbye
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Okay, actually, the one I think has the happiest ending hasn't been posted yet (upcoming for jmart week 2024), but this one is in the same vein of healing and recovery and finding happiness after an unimaginable tragedy - I Have So Much of You In My Heart
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Every once in a while, though it's so rare
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
I do, yes, but not often. It's definitely very vanilla, and it almost always portrays some of my own experiences with asexuality and desire
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?
I don't, but not because I don't like them. I just personally find it hard to write them--one of those kinds of fics that don't store well in my brain. I've read quite a few I really love, though!
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I have, but it's been a long time now since that happened, and I don't know of any of my recent fics being stolen
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I haven't, I don't think
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! I co-wrote all the time with my best friend when we were growing up, and it was a great experience
14. What’s your all time favorite ship?
Genuinely, I don't know. The ship that's seemed to move into my brain forever is JonMartin, and I do desperately love them, but there are plenty of other ships I truly love but don't engage with in a fandom sense
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have a couple that I just lost the ideas for (my memory is like a sieve anymore, thanks brain fog), and I may not finish them because I'll be unable either recall where I wanted them to go or find endings that feel meaningful/in line with what I've already written
16. What are your writing strengths?
I'm great with dialogue and with passing on emotions to readers, and I think I'm pretty funny and good with metaphors and descriptions
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
I really struggle with writing action and with pacing out stories in a way that lets all of the characters grow along with the narrative
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I have no issue with it, but I'm not sure it's something I've done? Partly because I'm only fluent in English and my smattering of German and French wouldn't be very helpful with that lol
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Encyclopedia Brown, actually, and I'm sure my mom still has the stories somewhere
20. Favorite fic you’ve written?
So, caveat--this is the fic I'm most proud of having finished and shared, making it my favorite for very personal reasons. I started i am loving myself out of the dark as both a response to @probsnothawkeye's coffee shop AU series and as a way to process some of my own trauma, and in the year since I finished it, I've actually used pieces of it as touchstones on my healing journey

For the book asks, 10, 14, 71, 84, 100, and 124?
10. A book that got you through something: "Esperanza Rising." So, I read this book after my dad was diagnosed with stage four colon and liver cancer. And at a time when things were very difficult for my family, because my dad was sick, and we basically didn't have any money coming in. I mean, my dad had cancer so he couldn't work anymore, and his benefits (like, insurance and things like that) for having cancer hadn't started yet. I had just been laid-off, my sister had just lost her job (which is a long and dumb story, that I don't feel like getting into now). And my mom had always been a stay-at-home mom, who really only had a short part-time job most of our lives, that really didn't help out much, anyway, and that she didn't have anymore--because that position had pretty much been eliminated, too (she'd worked at a school, but the schools were changing in our city then). This was a rough time, to put it lightly. And, I mean, we eventually got through it, thankfully. But I was reading that book at the time, and weirdly enough, I feel like it helped me. The main character is struggling herself, so I definitely empathized.
14. A book that made you trip on literary acid: I feel the only thing I can really think of is J.K. Rowling's "A Casual Vacancy." I tried to read that book... it just wasn't great. Usually, if I find I'm not liking a book, I just don't read it. But fortunately, I haven't found many that I haven't been able to get into.
71. Your favorite LGBTQ+ fiction: Probably Cassandra Clare's "Shadow World" for this, because I do really love Malec. Magnus and Alex in "Magnus Chase" are also great.
84. Your favorite dystopian read: "The Hunger Games," for sure. "Divergent" was okay, but I feel as though I like the world, but not the story (and the first one was definitely the best). If that makes sense. This one space one that my mom had me read (that I can't think of the name of right now, but I'll edit this if I remember it) was also alright. But still "The Hunger Games."
100. Your favorite gothic novel: "The Phantom of the Opera," undoubtedly.
124. The book you're currently reading: The novelization of The "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" episode "Chosen," (actually, it's moreso a novelization of all of "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" season 7), and the "Angel the Series" tie-in novel "Stranger to the Sun").

“I could spend all night like this.” Billy stated from up upon Y/n’s bed smiling at the scene before him of Y/n in his button up and a pair of her underwear just moving about her room organizing.
Y/n turned to look at him, she knew he meant it in so many ways. Billy never wanted to be apart or not touching her. She made him feel loved and cared about and he would always completely forget about his dick of a father.
The two met not long after Billy and Max moved into town.Y/n became fast friends with Max which helped ease Max into the party. Billy couldn’t keep his eyes off Y/n after he first saw her. But even though she thought he was handsome Y/n didn’t like his attitude. So Billy had to work for it. And the payoff was completely worth it was refreshing to not have a girl falling at his feet.
An Y/n wouldn’t have it any other way. Billy treated her like a princess. She loved having him over and being with her. Her mom loved him and that’s all that mattered. Billy loved her mom, admired her really. She raised Y/n with so much love and care as a single mother and Y/m/n treated him as if he was her own son. Something Billy hadn’t had is a very long time.
“Then why don’t we?” Y/n smiled butting her lip. It’s not like he didn’t spend the night all the time anyway. Besides Y/n hated him going back to his house. Plus she slept better with him beside her.
“Ya sure?” Billy asked, his face giving away that he wanted confirmation on what she was implying before answering.
Y/n could see a hint of nerves in Billy’s eyes so she moved over towards her bed and got on it. Crawling closer to him on her knees once she reached him she moved back to sit on her heels. “My mom love’s you and not in the creepy way that some in this town do. Stay the night Billy. We could have fun and hang out all weekend.”
Billy smiled. “Yeah, okay. Thanks.” Billy leaned forward to kiss her forehead. Y/n knew it was his silent way of saying how much he appreciated her, her mom, and their relationship without actually saying it. And he did, he really appreciated what they have, and so does she.

l“That was-” Bucky panted as he rolled off of y/n. He had never had such good sex or a connection during sex that was that powerful.
“Amazing.” Y/n finished his sentence, panting as well from their recent activities with a smile on her face. That was some of the best sex she’d had in her life. Maybe even the best.
“Uh huh.” Bucky agreed smiling widely. Bucky turned his head to look at her, admiring the woman next to him. “Damn.”
The two continued their night with some making out, a bit of snuggling, and then they fell asleep in each other's arms. When morning came Y/n woke first and looked at the clock, it was early 7 am early. Realizing that this was her chance to leave before Bucky woke up. An so there wouldn’t be any awkwardness of the one nightstand morning after.
Picking up her clothes and getting dressed after she made sure she had everything she turned to look back at the dark haired man still asleep. Man did she wish she could stay in bed with him. He seemed so sweet and his grip was hard to get out of when she got out of the bed minutes before. It felt safe.
But it was only a one nightstand, nothing more. So as safe as his grip felt and as sweet, kind and, caring even he seemed. This wasn’t a relationship and they weren’t already together. It is a simple fling.
Besides with who he is, who he’s known as, what he does for a living. It’s not who he is. He has new women all the time and they are never serious relationships, just quick fucks. Y/n wanted something serious, dependable, and real. Not to be a notch on someone's bedpost. So she left.
^ ^ ^ 5 Months Later ^ ^ ^
“Buck, you’ve been at this for months. I think it’s time you let it go.” Steve sighed, he hated that his best friend finally found a woman he wanted to try a serious relationship with and she could not be found.
“No. No way.” Bucky shook his head in a ‘no’ motion. He had been trying to find Y/n for 5 months. He woke up expecting to find her next to him but all he found was an empty and cold bed.
“Steve’s right man. It’s been five months. It was a one nightstand. You need to move on.” Sam added in. Even though Bucky annoyed him most of the time, he does care for him. This was not healthy.
“No guys I’m telling you, it was more than that. There was something there, something between us that night. We both felt it.” Bucky explained, he understood his friends were coming from and he appreciated it. But he was not going to give up.
“How do you expect to find her than Buck?” Steve asked moving to sit down in the chair across from Bucky’s desk. Leaning forward placing his elbows on his knee’s Steve continued. “You’ve been trying for months and you’ve used all your resources and your still no closer.”
“He’s right. You're a Mob Boss. The Mob Boss of Brooklyn and all the resources you have haven’t worked. That's saying something.” Sam stepped forward, hoping to get it into his head.
Bucky shook his head letting out a sigh. “You both are no help”
“We want to help Bucky it’s just, what's left to try?” Steve questioned but it was more a statement than anything.
“Trust use, Barnes. We’d help if we knew how. All you’ve talked about is this girl for 5 months straight. I’d love to shut you up.” Sam smirked.
Bucky stood up to exit his office. As he grabbed his jacket and put it on Steve asked. “Where are you going?”
“Out. Alone.” he answered gruffly.
“Come on man.” Sam leaned his head back against the door frame.
“Your both not helping and I need some air and space to clear my head. I’ll be back later.” he said as he headed out to his garage to get away.

“Hey, Angel!” Sweet Pea waved over Y/n once he saw her enter the Wyrm. Y/n headed to her friends with a smile forming on her face. Sweet Pea immediately pulled her into a big hug, squeezing her tight.
“You made it.” Toni greet her with a smile and the two hugged once Sweet Pea let go of the y/h/c-ed girl.
“Of course. I wouldn’t miss hanging out with you guys for the world.” She smiled letting go of Toni to also hug Fangs.
“Angel?” Jughead questioned after watching the mystery girl greet the group of young Serpents.
“That’s what they call me.” Y/n shrugged her shoulders with a bashful smile on her face. Obviously a little shy about the name.
“Angel, can I have a minute?” FP asked coming up to them, Y/n nodded to the older man and walked over to him. FP placed a hand across her lower back, leading her over to a more secluded spot to talk Serpent business.
“Sure. Sweet’s, when I get back pool?” Y/n called over her shoulder with a smile.
“You’re on.” Sweet Pea smirked her way before continuing on with his game of pool against Fangs.
“What’s up, Jones?” Toni asked noticing the look on his face.
“Is her name really Angel? An she’s a Serpent?” Jughead questioned. The girl seemed way to nice to be a Serpent in Jug’s eyes.
“Well, no and yes.” Fangs answered after taking a shot only to miss the pocket.
“She is a Serpent.” Sweet Pea states his voice close to a growl. All the Serpent’s are very protective of Y/n after all she’s their Angel. But Sweet’s more so, so Jughead questioning her Serpent status really irked him.
“But her names really y/n.” Toni elboraoted since the boys were being very vague.
“Then why do you all call her Angel? An a Serpent named Angel is a little ironic since we’re not known to be nice and Sweet.” Jughead crossed his arms narrowing his eyes as he asked another question.
“True, but her nickname is part of a inside joke.” Toni smirked thinking about their reasons for the nickname.
It was clear by the look on Jugheads face that he still didn’t get it. This made Toni sigh and Fangs shove his head.
“Seriously Jones, you really can’t put it together?” Sweet Pea rolled his eyes. The Jones kid could solve a murder but not a nickname?
“Y/n/n can be an Angel but don’t piss her off.” Fangs told Jug taking pity on him.
“Then she becomes the devil in disguise or Serpent if you will.” Sweet’s smirked leaning against the pool queue.
Jughead rolled his eyes at Sweet Pea’s words, he crossed his arms turning towards Toni. “Why haven’t I seen her before?”
Toni shrugged, not really knowing why the two hadn’t met yet. “She’s in the same grade and school as us. But she has been a Serpent longer.”

School was something Y/n liked at one point. But of course, there were bullies. Although she could normally get through it no problem, but ever since the whole upside-down thing happened. It was harder. Yeah, now she had some more friends and all but the bullying had gotten worse after her accident.
During the whole upside down and lab thing Y/n had with Steve and the party ran into some Demodogs. Protecting El Y/n jumped in front of her, which ended with her side being bitten into by all those thousands of teeth. She was able to hide it for a while, especially since it was dark out that helped. But eventually, Y/n had lost so much blood that she had collapsed. After rushing her to the hospital the doctors were able to save her life.
Y/n didn’t mind the scars that much, they showed she survived that night. But with all the rumors around town, the bullying just got worse. Sure Steve wasn’t a part of it no more. But his old asshole friends? They loved to taunt her. All the time.
An that’s exactly what happened every morning in the school parking lot, and today was no different. As she and Steve stepped out of their own cars next to eachother, the two normally carpooled and switched between whose car to take but Steve had to do some stuff after school so they didn’t today. As soon as they got out of their cars the two friends instantly heard snickering. Steve shook his head pissed while Y/n just rolled her eyes.
“Look there’s the scarred freak.” Tommy taunted as usual.
“Get some new material prick.” Y/n spat out towards the grade A jackass.
“Oh? It speaks.” Carol joined in with a sinister looking smirk on her lips.
With that Steve had heard enough for one morning and stepped up in front of Y/n, effectively blocking her from his ex-friends and their insults. “Fuck off Carol, you to Tommy.”
Y/n grabbed onto his arm to hold him back, having noticed Steve’s anger rising. “Steve it’s fine. Let’s just leave. Come on.”
Steve gave into her pleading, wrapping his arm around her shoulders as they headed towards the school. It made him feel like he was blocking her from any more crap being said. Leaving the assholes of Hawkins behind in the parking lot.
Billy had watched the entire scene play out in front of him. He didn’t want to add himself into it since he was trying to understand the situation before him. He didn’t understand what Tommy and Carol’s problem was with this Y/h/c-ed girl. Billy had never seen the girl before. Maybe once or twice. But what was running through Billy’s head now, why did they call her ‘scarred freak’? If he was being honest she was the most beautiful girl in all of Hawkins.
There was one way to find out. She seemed to know Steve pretty well. An with the way he seemed to get protective over her, he must know. And it just so happened they have gym together.
After their P.E. ended everyone hit the locker rooms to shower. Billy waited for Steve to get in and most of the others to leave before getting in the shower himself. “So what’s with the girl you were with this morning?”
Steve lifted his head with a raised brow confused from Billy’s question. “Y/n? What about her?”
Billy nodded. “Why do Tommy, Carol, and some others call her a ‘scarred freak’? I didn’t notice any scars.”
Steve sighed, debating on if he should tell the mullet-haired teen or not. Billy hadn’t taunted Y/n that morning and maybe if he knew would continue not to. “Y/n was in an accident a year ago. It happened in the woods. I was there, along with some others. She got attacked by something- an animal. It was…bad. Y/n almost died. She hid it for a while but once she lost too much blood she fell on unconscious. Full on blacked out. We rushed her to the hospital, the doctors were able to stitch her up and save her but it scarred. It’s pretty light but there’s a lot of it. They’re hidden along her torso, back with some on the top of her thighs and some across her arms. She normally keeps them covered. SHe’s not afraid to show them really, but with all the comments she gets from kids at school and sometimes around town. Sometimes she feels self-conscious.”
Billy stayed silent, intentionally listening to what Steve was telling him. Billy shook his head, letting out a harsh breath. “That’s some messed up shit.”
Steve nodded in agreement. “Yeah. It is. So maybe tell your asshole friends to knock it the fuck off.”
“They were your friends first Harrington.” Billy countered with his signature smirk.
“Hmmmhmmm, they were and Y/n was one of the people who showed me that their assholes. I mean I already knew that but she showed me that I didn’t need to keep them around. If you know what I mean.” Steve stated before turning off the water, getting out to get dressed. Leaving Billy with the words that had been exchanged.

“This is your first lesson,” the Red Robe said, and so far the thing had been pretty fucking spooky. Lup figured she should have been terrified, but instead there was just something... mildly unnerving about the whole thing. Like this was all wrong, but she couldn’t place what exactly was off.
“This is...” he repeated, his voice seeming to falter some in its deep, grumbling echo into something a bit more alive. “This is... this isn’t enough to make up for everything, but I hope it might be a start,” he continued, and he didn’t have a face, not really, but Lup couldn’t help but feel like he was staring at her.
Then he waved a hand, and Lup felt the new weight on her wrist immediately. She jerked, ready to fight off whatever was grabbing her.
But the Red Robe was gone, and instead of some sort of chain dragging her down or cuffs locking her in place, there was just... a bracelet. It was exactly her style, golden bands wrapping around with red gems inside, and all she could do was stand there for a moment and stare at it.
“Huh, hey!” she said, trying to yank her arm away when Taako grabbed it. Before she could though he was casting something, a befuddled look on his face at the end.
“Weird, it’s not a trap? I think it’s supposed to protect you?” he said, and Lup’s face lit up at that, quickly casting identify on the thing as well. He was right, there was definitely some sort of protection, abjuration magic there.
“Aw, why don’t we get cool ghost gifts?” Magnus asked, clearly disappointed.
“Maybe it’s some sort of competition. Like, the prettiest gets the cool ghost gift,” Lup said, grinning at the bracelet.
“I’m pretty! What standards are we going by? I need some parameters,” Magnus insisted, and Taako was already rolling his eyes.
“Okay, that’s clearly not the deal because I would win no questions asked. Anyway we should probably get out of here before someone notices the fucking corpse behind the desk,” he said, and he had a point. They quickly left, and after a quick debate Lup hid the bracelet in her bag before they got up to the base.
The director wasn’t happy when they got back, and she was even less happy to hear about the Red Robe. It made sense. He was evil. He made the relics and tried to destroy the world, they couldn’t trust him, they couldn’t talk to him, they couldn’t give him any chance to trick them.
Except when Lup sat awake in her bed that night, staring at the bracelet she realized that the quickened breath and fast heartbeat she’d been feeling when the Red Robe appeared wasn’t from fear.
No, she was fairly sure she had a crush on the Red Robe.
Shit.

Have I ever talked about the time I lied to a priest, committed blasphemy, and made up a whole church when I was like, eight?
So I went to catholic school for six years, despite the fact that neither of my parents went to church, were not religious, and my mom isn't even catholic. But I went to this school which had us do all the pageants and advent calendar and the stations of the cross, during lent we had morning announcements in the attached church and sometimes we couldn't have recess outside because our playground was just the church parking lot, and whenever there was a funeral it was too full of cars for us to play.
And one thing they do in catholic schools is have you do the whole church service on occasion, which includes things like communion. But it was the school church, and most of the kids had their first communion, ya know, one of the holy sacraments, at their own personal churches.
I didn't have a church though, the only time my family had ever stepped foot in a church was to come see me do school plays. I had never even been baptized.
So what was the already heavily bullied, autistic, must-not-make-adults-mad child to do?
Why, lie of course!
We had to fill out a paper saying what church we had been baptized at for a project. At 8 I lied and made up a church. I do not remember if I gave the same name when asked where I got my first communion by a teacher who was disappointed that she 'missed' it, but I was never called out on it if I didn't.
When we moved to third grade and were allowed to start doing communion with the rest of the church, since we were all supposed to have done first communion at this point, I listened incredibly carefully to the kids in front of me, watching and observing to be able to mimic what they did so that no would realized I'd never done it before. It turns out having to learn how to mimic at a young age to avoid bullying for the autism was a very useful skill.
Also, just rinse and repeat the same steps for when I lied and did confession without the sacrament as well.
Ya know, this would probably be the exact type of thing to admit to in confession. Every step here was definitely a sin.

thinking of carlos eventually studying for the detective exam………thinking of him spending late nights writing notes all sprawled out on the couch like he was working the case………thinking of tk coming home from a shift or going to bed until he always—like clockwork—wakes up at one or two in the morning where he ends up trying to make carlos put everything away for the night……….thinking of carlos saying “five more minutes” but tk knows what that really means so he tells him “scoot over” and he quizzes him until he falls asleep on him and carlos just makes sure he’s comfy before turning back to his reading……….thinking of them both waking up all cuddled together on the couch and it becoming a bit of a thing…….🥺🥺🥺

okay wait like tk seeing carlos’ goodbye in his dream makes his moment of waking up so much more impactful because here he is, waking up and telling carlos “breathe breathe breathe”—after he himself was INTUBATED—because he knows how hard and overwhelming all of this has been for carlos. because if there’s anything tk knows for sure he knows carlos reyes down to his bones and he knows how this man feels everything so hard and keeps things bottled in until it’s just about to burst and even after all they’ve both been through tk is here telling him it’s okay. he can take a deep breath for the first time since nancy called him to the icu because the worst is over now. he can let himself go and feel what he needs to feel because tk’s here and he’s not going anywhere and carlos listens to him because tk’s awake and okay and he’s not going another second with them being apart.

So I finally saw Volume 2 of Stranger Things 4 last night and I just... have a lot of thoughts about the season, and I've already yelled at my friends so now I'll be sharing them here!
Warning: unpopular opinions and some spoilers ahead 😅
I honestly can't decide if season 4 was really good or just okay. I will probably be able to say with more certainty after I've had more than 24 hours to think on it. I will say that it left me feeling kind of empty and like full of... dread, I guess?
Like I have no idea how we're going to come back from this, how Hawkins will, how Max will (yes, I sobbed, I was very upset!).
Okay, first the good:
I did actually quite enjoy Eddie. I wasn't sure how to feel about him at the start, but he turned out to be quite sweet (him and Chrissy were adorable together!!), and he brought that newcomer vibe pretty good.
I love that Steve and Robin are best friends. I love how the team up of the kids and teens (or. older teens and younger teens?) happens way earlier than normal. Tammy Thompson 😅 and Vickie is great! Love the Molly Ringwald vibes she has going.
Also put some damn respect on Sadie Sink, she carried this season.
I adored all of the callbacks to the earlier seasons (the lite brite scene in episode 7 had me yelling i tell you. YELLING) and how everything was connected! I love that they dove deeper into the overall mythology and lore of the show, and given us some long-awaited answers (and also Hopper's backstory being revealed. OOF).

I am THRILLED that we finally got the Jopper kisses. All the scenes in the church had me simultaneously cheering and 🥺😳.
Big confession here: I actually am enjoying the stancy renaissance. I'm technically a stoncy shipper because the three of them fighting the demogorgon was unparalleled in season one!
And also I don't think it's out of character, I don't think it was out of nowhere. This is the first time they've really teamed up since their break-up in '84, and they've both grown up a lot as people. I mean the ideal would be the three of them all working out their issues and just becoming a throuple but eh. I think Steve and Nancy have more natural chemistry.
Okay, that was the likes. Here's what I didn't particularly enjoy:
The series felt simultaneously rushed and bloated.
Did we really need to spend so much time over multiple episodes in the Russian prison? Did we need to spend that much time with the stoner jokes and Cali team plot (Argyle's role could've been wayyy reduced)? Did we really need to spend so much time in the NINA project?
Also I have to be honest, I'm still devastated by the finale, and eager to see where this goes, but also dreading it.
And... okay. I'm probably going to be disliked for this, but I am just not seeing Steddie or Ronance. This is my own opinion, but I don't think either couple has all that much chemistry. That might be a me problem! But I just don't see it.
I do absolutely think Steve is bi, but that's a different matter entirely.
Oh by the way, even if the whole “love triangle” thing was stale (I don’t think it is), I honestly felt annoyed that we couldn’t get any resolution for it. I know bigger things were happening but just. I wanted some actual answers! And we didn’t get any!!!
Also like I said previously, the story was simultaneously full of some of the best storyline decisions ever (it was Henry Creel all along!!! everything in Hawkins can be tied back to him!!!!!! that is BITCHING), and also literally the dumbest of all moments.
Like. The Duffer brothers had yet another season where they forgot about Will and Jonathan as characters beyond the whole 'is will gay/is will going to come out' which mostly manifested as him staring longingly at Mike. Please give him more to do in Season 5, D-Bros. You even forgot his birthday.
Like what is going on with Jonathan? What is going on with him and Nancy? What happened to him dreaming about going to NYU since he was six? I know people change but we've barely covered him at all since season 2, and now he's just a pothead who's like an absent father to his own brother.
Mike continues to be an asshole who frankly wouldn't deserve Will even if Will came out to him. It may just be that he's a teen but he's just. Yuck.
And I loved the almost-coming-out but i just. i just wanted him to come out dammit! I don't need fanfair, it was like that scene was metaphorically holding its breath. JUST SAY IT.
They also forgot the fucking nail bat. The ultimate iconic weapon and it is nowhere to be seen in a season that involves going into the Upside Down.
Okay. I think that's everything.
My tentative belief is that season 4 was good. I don't know if it was the best season. I don't think it was the worst season. It tied in a lot of cool lore, but really kind of went all over the place in terms of stories, and a lot of characters ended up left out in the cold. Trying to cut it some slack because of COVID happening but it was. A lot.

A/N: AH FUCK OKAY I screamed when I saw this
For the sake of the scenario, I’m gonna age up Max and the reader so that they’re near the same age group; Billy’s a high school graduate - 18 going on 19 - and the reader has already turned 18. It's also on the lengthy side. It's a bit fluffy. Billy and the reader have somewhat of a FWB relationship but it doesn't go into much depth. There's no smut, sorry to disappoint 😔 not BETA'd so all mistakes are mine!
"Max, Lucas has been going ballistic. I hang out with the guys every day and he doesn't shut up about you! Would you just date him already!?"
"No, it's unfair! Besides, Billy would kill me if he knew that I was dating Lucas."
"Damn right I would," Billy chimed in, popping a cigarette into his mouth. "Nice panties, Y/L/N."
Y/N shot him a sly wink, slumping both legs over the edge of Max's bed as she attempted to pull her restricting skirt further down her thighs. The deep rumble of a chuckle from Billy's chest filled her ears, creating that familiar stammer in her chest.
"Get out of my room, Billy," Max huffed, soon copying Y/N's actions before getting up to force her stepbrother out of the room.
"Actually, it's near curfew. I should take her home now."
It seemed as if he were challenging Maxine, hands tucked into his fitted jeans as he blew the smoke from his cigarette off to the side.
"It's 8-" Max looked over at the little clock on her nightstand, eyebrows furrowing as she whined aloud. "...45. Shit!"
Max looked over at Billy, a knowing smile on her face.
"No."
"Please."
"No."
"C'mon, I'll...do your chores for a week. Anything. Whatever you want."
"It's a school night, you know she can't stay over."
"Billy-"
"Max, I have to."
He'd finally removed his cigarette from in between his lips, his eyes leaving Max's momentarily as Y/N slung her bookbag over her shoulder. There was an undeniable spark between the pair the night Max had first introduced them to one another. They were still new to the town and Max was dying to introduce Billy to her newly found friend.
It was the summer of '84, teens flooded every crevice of Hawkins' community pool.
"Billy, I've been meaning to introduce y-"
"Max, I thought I told you that you can't be here."
"I'm here with my friend, relax," she sassed, stepping aside.
And that's when he saw her right behind Max. She was seventeen at the time and Billy was ready to pounce on her then.
"This is Y/N. Y/N, that's Billy."
Billy felt as if his eyes were bulging out of their sockets, however, only his eyebrow shot up, his whistle hardly tucked between his lips.
Holy shit. That's Y/N?
"Hi," she spoke up, eyes narrowing to block out the sunlight as she looked up at Billy.
He simply nodded his head, his infamous smirk tweaking at the corners of his mouth. Though she was able to mask the fact that she wasn't like every other girl in Hawkins that just fell at his feet, she could slowly feel herself melting inside.
Oh god...what the hell did I just get myself into?
And after that, it was a long, long period of torturing for the pair until they were caught alone at a New Year's party. Y/N didn't want to be that friend that ended up with her best friend's brother, but things were set up that way after they both gave in to their urges. He was just a year older than them but she fought every tempting urge to kiss the Apollo-like man in front of Maxine.
She had grown a particular hatred for spending summers with Max, though it had only been two summers so far. It wasn't that she disliked the company, she just hated the fact that she had to be around her best friend's shirtless stepbrother almost every day. She wanted to scream into a pillow especially when they went to the pool and he sat above everyone, sweat-slicked chest glowing, little red bottoms that seemed way too little to suppress his bulge.
His flirtatious persona died down a bit. The older girls grew jealous at how much attention Billy paid to Y/N at the pool when she came around. They'd tried their best to outdo one another, putting their hair up so it wouldn't get wet, legs gleaming under loads of sunblock, and a bathing suit too expensive to swim in, but none could beat Y/N.
She was surprised that no one caught onto the fact that they were sneaking around. She made up any excuse to leave Max for just fifteen, saying that she left something at the pool or she just remembered she had to pick up something from the store for her mom.
"Bye, Mrs. Hargrove," Y/N spoke quickly, hugging Max's mom.
"Oh, you're leaving so-"
"It's a school night, Susan. Max wanted her to stay the night but I didn't want to frighten her mother with how long she'd been gone for."
The sudden preppiness in his tone made Y/N looked back, eyebrows scrunched as she took in his posture - shoulders squared with a polite smile and his hands clasped behind his back.
"Wow, that's very sweet of you, Billy. I guess I'll see you tomorrow."
Even Max's mother couldn't process the random posh outburst.
She followed Billy out to his Camaro, Susan watching from the doorway as they disappeared in the distance.
Wait, it's only 7:30...
She looked up from her watch, Billy gently bopping his head to the music on the radio.
"Billy, it's 7:30. I don't have to be home for another half an hour."
She could feel a sudden barrage of panic rising within her.
"Billy-"
"Heard you the first time, sweetheart."
There it was. That way he nonchalantly gave her a fucking nickname. He knew damn well what it did to her and he did it audaciously.
"Where are we going?" she asked, watching as his foot pressed down onto the gas pedal even more as they drove past her home street.
"I'm taking you on a date," he said casually, shrugging his shoulders.
She scoffed as if it were no big deal.
"You're fucking with me, right?"
"I've done that plenty of times, and I'd love to fuck you after, but I'm pretty sure you'll miss curfew so unfortunately, we'll have to save that for next time."
Next time!?
He chuckled at the way her eyes widened, her teeth nipping at her bottom lip.
"Yes, next time, Y/N."
She suddenly felt bold, invisible strings tugging at the corners of her lips.
"What makes you so sure that there'll be a second time?"
He chuckled again, sounding more like a groan. God that sound was music to her ears.
"I'm tired of playing this cat and mouse game. I know you want me as much as I want you so cut the crap and just confirm that you want to be my girlfriend."
She shook her head, not being able to resist the toothy smile that broke onto her face.
"But Max-"
"I don't care. I'm giving her a chance to call you her sister-in-law."
She was going crazy inside, her stomach doing summersaults as she looked at him.
"I thought you don't chase women, Hargrove."
"Doesn't count. The cat and the mouse are making an alliance right now."
She giggled, allowing her head to fall back onto the headrest.
"Fine."
"'Fine' what?"
"I'll be your girlfriend, Billy."
He'd been dying to hear those words fall from her lips and finally, finally, it was happening.

Season 1 Episode 7: Wherever You Are Is My Home
⚠️WARNING!!!⚠️ this episode not only talks about suicidal thoughts but also a character trying to commit such acts, of you are sensitive to this I suggest you just skip this post or at least skip #75-77
1. Anne calling it comforting that no two snowflakes are alike, as well as calling snow a sign of gods forgiveness as he blankets the dead world in a beautiful frost
2. Josie gossiping about her while she’s RIGHT THERE
3. Her and moody just talking
4. “And I love Christmas, don’t you?” “I don’t know, but I plan to.” “Did you not have Christmas at the orphanage?” “There wasn’t much to it really. I’m not sure why Father Christmas wasn’t able to stop there, maybe the matron scared him off.”
5. “Do you at least know if they’re going to keep you?” “Keep me!?”
6. Anne trying to sing with the others but the other voices quickly fading out as she panics and rushes home
7. “They’re not going to send you back, you’re in the Bible and everything!”
8. Marilla has every right to be angry that Matthew rushed their home without even discussing it
9. “I knew you’d lose your head-“ “Oh, I oughta smack yours right off your shoulders!”

Corporations are cruel and ungiving despite the human struggles and needs of its clients and it hurts. I know the bank invested that money and they need it back but Matthew was indisposed by a tragic event and to not only not extent but to SHORTEN the payback schedule is just unfeeling
16. Marilla putting out an ad to the mainland to take in borders
17. The terrifying idea that you must sell everything you have in order to survive
18. Marilla being desperate yet still too prideful to accept charity
19. The fact that it not only effects the family but also Jerry, as they can’t afford to pay him. It puts him out of a job and lowers his families income
20. A reoccurring theme I love in this show is the idea that the characters will give up their belongings, no matter how sentimental, in the name of family. Matthew selling his dead brothers watch, Marilla selling her grandmothers brooch, Anne selling the dress of her dreams, all because no matter how important these items are, they are just things. That family is more important, so even though it pains you to have to give those things up, you do it in the name of love for others
