OC vs cockroach
Thanks for the tags, @illarian-rambling here, @willtheweaver here, and @dyrewrites here!
Rules: rank your OCs based on how well they would do with a cockroach
Lexi - 4/10 would scream and get as far away as she can and keep throwing stuff at it until it dies
Maddie - 11/10 would turn into a cockroach and try to lead it out of the room
Ash - 10/10 would just pick it up and take it outside
Gwen - 7/10 would jump noticeably and tense up but immediately finds a tissue/napkin/etc to go squish it
Robbie - 3/10 would let out a series of expletives and scurry out of the room
Akash - 5/10 would keep flying toward the ceiling and hang out there until someone else takes care of it
Jedi - 9/10 would get a paper for it to crawl onto to take it outside
Carmen - 6/10 logically knows it can't do anything but still refuses to touch it

OC vs Cockroach
@thepeculiarbird sent me this one - thank you! go see how her OCs deal with this disaster here. passing along the tag to @finchwrites, @indecentpause, @space-writes, @notwritinganyflufftoday, and @dyrewrites, plus an open tag for anyone who wants to torment their characters with household pests 😈
Rules: rank your OCs based on how well they would do with a cockroach
have a grab bag of OCs from various projects, ranked from high to low in order of competency (plus, the tumblr debut of Jules, V, and Jacqui from my new, very-tentatively-named WIP: You Up?):
Jacqui: Catches it in a tupperware and takes it outside. Then throws away the tupperware, washes and sanitizes her hands, and performs a ritual to magically bug-proof the building for the next month. 12/10 for preventative measures.
Mina: Throws a shoe across the room at it. Nails it in one hit. 10/10. FATALITY.
Jules: Uses the double-plastic-cup method to catch the roach. Takes his new buddy on a tour of the nearby dumpsters until he finds one the bug seems excited about. Releases the bug into the alley of its choice. 10/10.
Baz: Scoops it up in his bare hands. The feeling of it skittering around kind of breaks his brain for a minute; stands there, awkwardly holding a cockroach, until someone reminds him to put it outside. 7/10 because it does end up outside eventually.
Lienzo: Pretends he doesn't see it until someone else shows up and deals with it. If he has absolutely no choice, he'll find the largest, heaviest thing he can and smash the roach. Then there's the crisis of how he's going to clean it up. 5/10.
V: Jacqui says they're not allowed to use alchemical bombs on household pests anymore. So they grab the lighter and hairspray. 3/10.
Phi: Makes scathing comments in the roach's general direction until it gets the hint and leaves. This doesn't work very well. 2/10.
Qedlan: Looks up the correct way to deal with cockroaches. This takes long enough that he loses sight of the bug. He can't find it again. He lives in fear for the next week. 1/10.
Ari: Calls Mina to come kill it for her. When Mina inevitably refuses, she resigns herself to living with it. She names it Roachfort. It lives in the corner with Spedro (the spider she couldn't kill last week). 0/10.

OC vs. Cockroach
Tagged by @mysticstarlightduck here! I had to do this one right away because it was too funny to imagine and I need a break from writing…
Rules: Rate your OCs on how well they’d fare against a cockroach
For the Tomb of Light cast:
Hettie: 9/10 Hettie loves bugs and little crawly creatures (snails are her fave thing ever). She has seen a lot of roaches in her life and while she doesn’t mind them, she recognizes they are pests. Lavender is a natural insect repellent and she would have plenty of that on hand to harmlessly deter them from coming back.
Oliver: 0/10 Hates nature, hates bugs. He has spent the majority of his life indoors and doesn’t like things that live outside. Including people. He would see the roach and scream for dear life until it was removed from sight.
Adrin: 10/10 He spent his childhood outdoors being bitten and swarmed by everything nearby. He thought it was hilarious to sneak roaches and spiders into his house to scare his mother. He would help Oliver out, mostly to shut him up, but also because he doesn’t mind touching them.
Mara: ??? She knows a good source of protein when she sees one.

OC Vs Cockroach
@starbuds-and-rosedust got me for this one, check theirs here ^.^
Rules: rate your OCs on how well they’d fare against a cockroach
I is tagging @aziz-reads and @kaylinalexanderbooks
I've done a silly scene for these before, so let's do that again.
For rating, however, I think they'd both get a 10/10. No fear; irritation if anything. But we're going to make it worse, so I hope this is fun to read.
->it got away from me, so it's under the cut<-
Lucient insisted we stay in a brownstone we'd passed one too many times while getting entirely lost in all those towers and cars and people. It claimed itself a bed and breakfast, and he was intent on calling it home for the full month he wished to explore the city.
And so, while he charmed the sweet old woman at the counter into a lower price, I took our things up to the room.
I found it waiting for me on the pillow. A cockroach, bigger than any I'd ever seen, making itself at home on what was to be our bed. Last I dealt with one, it was at an inn in Tuscany and Lucient refused to stay there when he saw it. Not out of fear, mind, but propriety. He claimed it a sign the place was 'cheap', threw a fit at the staff and had us thrown out. We spent hours looking for another place to stay and ended up back on the ship as he ruled the whole of the region a backwater waste of his time and money.
I was not going through that again.
The roach had to die.
It is here feel I must assure you, dear reader, that I am not a fearful creature. I do not mind insects, or arachnids, or any creepy crawlies.
But I take issue with swarms. Of anything.
And there was a swarm under that pillow, which became one out of the walls...and up through the floorboards. Chittering and scratching, those roaches poured out of every nook and cranny.
So Lucient, and the sweet old woman he spoke to, were audience to my stomping down the stairs with all of our things in hand. Not screaming, but making a sound very close to it--through tight lips, as more roaches began falling from the ceiling.
"We're leaving?" Lucient asked as I clamped a hand on his arm, "but she just agreed to less than half."
"We can't stay here," I kept calm, despite the things crawling in my hair, down my shirt, into my pants, I kept calm.
"Treasure," that tone, somewhere between scolding and pouting that tone, one he knew I couldn't ignore. But he said the rest so only I could hear it, I did it without any tricks, like you wanted. Do you know how difficult it is to talk a woman like this into charging less for anything?
Fairly certain the woman didn't speak it, I explained in Italian, or...well, I shouted, "Ci sono fottuti scarafaggi nei miei pantaloni!"
All smiles, tight and twitching not to become a scream--or laughter--Lucient turned to the woman, "Thank you, ever so much, madam...but I think we'll be staying elsewhere."

OC vs Cockroach Tag Game
I'm back (or trying to be, at least) and will try to catch up on my asks and tag games, my friends 💜
Thanks to @illarian-rambling for the tag (here)!
I'll go with some of the characters from the main cast of my WIP Of Starlight and Beasts (since I've already done this for a few of my other WIPs, such as Enchanted Illusions and Realms of Loss if I'm not mistaken)! This is going to be fun (:
Corah 9/10 - Doesn't really mind it, as long as it's like, scurrying far away. But will step on it no questions asked if it gets too close or starts being a bother, though all her courage towards it will vanish when the roach starts to fly.
Arammys 6/10 - Is very curious, albeit disgusted and from a distance, about the strange creature. Probably doesn't want to kill it, but is very uncomfy with the bug all the same. One of his friends either kills the roach for him or takes it far away.
Eidan 12/10 - Drop kicks it so fast even the roach's atoms cease from existence. Cosmically obliterates the roach with that kick. Does it so fast his friends are probably in shock at his reflexes. Proceeds to walk it off like nothing happened and tries to carry on any interrupted conversation too.
Rin ???/10 - Eats it as a lil snack. 😃 In front of everyone. Making unbreaking eye contact. Is probably unaware of why everyone is so disturbed by what he just did too.
Masen 1/10 - Will scream and try to jump into somebody's arms, climb some kind of furniture, or stand behind Kyran (or anyone who can stand in between him and the bug as a shield) until the insect is dealt with. If the roach flies towards him or worse, touches him, he'll probably cry and end up vomiting.
Tomasa 9/10 - Depends on her mood. If she's happy and generally okay with life, she'll gently just find a jar or something to pick up the roach and take it outside to nature. If not, shoes - or anything throwable she can get her hands on - will be flying towards the roach at the speed of light.
Kyran 10/10 - Doesn't mind and doesn't care. Is more annoyed at his twin's (Masen) breakdown about the roach than bothered by the bug itself. Will ignore it and let someone else go through the trouble of getting rid of the insect.
Leora 9/10 - Has a mini heart attack upon noticing a roach in the vicinities. Collects herself quickly though, and instantly burns/disintegrates it with her magic. If she's feeling especially petty, she might pick it up with a spell and place it in Masen's room just to watch the chaos unfold later on.
Florynce 8?/10 - Befriends it. Due to her powers, she might actually be able to communicate with it, and if she has the time, might engage in some kind of conversation with the insect. (It wouldn't last though, as her pet raven would be overjoyed at the free snack walking around on the floor, and so the bird would just swoop down and eat it.)

OC vs. Cockroach
Thank you for the tag, @tabswrites!
Rules: Rate your OCs on how well they’d fare against a cockroach
I've been working on Minding Q’s a lot lately, so I'll do this with these characters:
Celain: 5/10 She’s okay with bugs, but she doesn’t like them. If she saw a cockroach in the house, she would make Izzie get it and put it outside. She could probably drop a cup over it by herself, but then she would just sit and watch it to make sure it doesn’t escape before someone else can save her from it.
Sterling: -100000/10 PLEASE NO!!! We cannot do this to my boy. If he saw a cockroach outside, he would literally never set foot outside again. (I'm only half-joking.) If he saw one in the house, he would never feel safe at home again. (Completely serious about that.)
Katelyn: 8/10 She would have the easiest time ignoring it. If she saw a cockroach disappear under the couch, that’s a problem for later. She would definitely be able to catch it and release it outside, but she would rather not touch it if she doesn’t have to.
Max: 8/10 He would probably have the easiest time smashing/otherwise obliterating a cockroach, but he definitely wouldn’t enjoy doing it (especially the reveal of the remains/clean-up part).
Izzie: 10/10 They were a bug kid back in elementary school, and not much has changed since. Would gently pick up a cockroach with their bare hands and put it in the bushes outside.
▪︎
Gently tagging @my-cursed-prince, @k-v-briarwood, @planets-and-prose, @the-grim-and-sanguine, @athenswrites, @lordcatwich, and leaving the tag open for anyone else that wants to do this!

OC vs. a cockroach
I was tagged by lovely @ashen-crest. Thank you!
Rules: Rate your OCs on how well they’d fare against a cockroach.
All mentioned OC's are from my current wip Foreigner God.
Yarren 1/10
He would go berserk, but for all his vigor he would be very unsuccessful in actually killing the cockroach. Imagine a lot of yelling, throwing things and smashing the floor with other things and the cockroach running away unbothered.
Thiery 5/10
He would look around waiting for someone to kill it for him. In the case of nobody being there to get rid of it, he would capture it in a cup and bring it outside. He had done enough killing in his life already.
Ikath 8/10
Depends on whether she's with her servants or alone. If she had witnesses there would be a lot of screaming maybe even a bit of fainting. If alone, she would just kill it with one precise hit of her shoe, then feed it to her pet birds to get rid of the evidence.
Una 10/10
She would talk to it very calmly while scooping it in her bare hands and carrying it outside. As a healer, she believes all life is precious
Orien 0/10
He would open a book about insects and start reading about cockroaches while the one he's supposed to deal with runs away
Zirys 0/10
He tries to shoot it with a bow or something equally stupid
Lothir -1000/10
Raises a nation of demonic cockroaches to end ALL cockroaches and then gets eaten by them
I'm tagging people from a tag masterpost so if you never heard of me, hi I'm Kate let's be friends (or ignore this)

OC vs. Cockroach
Alright I had to jump on this one stat LOL thanks for the tag @mysticstarlightduck see their post here!
Rules: Rate your OCs on how well they’d fare against a cockroach
I'm going to do the casts of AASOAF and M.O.W for this one!
AASOAF
Mariel: 7/10 Mariel grew up on a farm so she's pretty used to seeing creepy crawlies around. That said she can't keep her cool around them like she can with rodents and other types of pests so she is definitely the sort to be startled by one, and call for help if there is someone nearby. Otherwise, our little lady is bucking up and dealing with it on her own.
Axtapor: 10/10 A big part of Lizardfolk diet is eating bugs including roaches. While they aren't his favorite, he's known to indulge from time to time because the wings have a nice crunch to them *chefs kiss*. So he just manhandles them whenever they're around and down the hatch they go!
Fay: 0/10 Fay grew up impoverished in the slums of a place called Saltend and on more than one occasion discovered roaches in her bed, clothes, food, hair, blankets you name it. Safe to say she was traumatized after being surrounded by them for so many years. She is definitely calling in for backup if she sees one.
Wilkes: 10/10 Even though he's a Lizardfolk, he doesn't eat roaches. Rather, he despises them because Fay hates them so he's become quite the exterminator on her behalf. He can hit one from across the room with a throwing knife and has done so on many occasions. I should add, that he also doesn't let his adoptive parents eat them either. The Sikthax-Seymour household is a roach-free zone 😤
M.O.W
Hartim and Lexlar: 20/10 So these two are from The Oasis Heartlands which is mostly jungle ergo, LOTS of bugs to eat. They hunt bugs for fun and roaches are no different but they are a little bit more sadistic with roaches than other creepy crawlies. Lexlar will catch a bunch, enough to fill a jar, and then set them loose in an enclosed area, like a room for example, and let Hartim just go nuts trying to catch and eat them lol. Then the same thing vice-versa, Hartim will catch a bunch and release them for Lexlar. They claim it's a speed trial but they're really just playing with their food lol.
Tagging (gently): @outpost51 @sparatus @teamdilf @commander-krios @void-botanist @silverslipstream @captain-kraken @moonluringfrost

OC vs Cockroach tag
This tag came from @axl-ul, so thanks for including me in this game!
Passing it on with soft tags to @cat-esper, @littlepatchofhell, @andromeda-grace, @monstersandmaw, @athenswrites, and @sliceofardath, as well as leaving an open tag! Rules—share with us how well you think your oc would do when matched up against a cockroach?
Putting my response under a cut because it got a little long. I wanted to write the ratings as little scenes, so...I did. Used Riley, Avalanche, Jimmy, and Aaron from my unnamed WIP for this
Upon release, the roach scurried away, seeking somewhere to hide. The room was open and brightly lit so that the roach was fully exposed.
“Riley, roach!” Aaron said.
On reflex, Riley’s hand shot out and slapped the roach. When he pulled his hand back, the roach was dead, one of its legs stuck to his palm. “Why the fuck did I do that?” Holding his hand away from himself, Riley got up from the couch and gave the remains a look of distaste. The remains on his hand received distaste tempered with confusion.
On his notepad, Aaron filled out a small form while he listened to Riley complain about grossness.
Efficiency—10/10
Effectiveness—10/10
Emotional Control—10/10
Physical Control—0/10
No Damage to Surroundings—10/10
Consideration for Life—0/10
Riley’s Overall—7/10
After a second, he added a new line.
Sanitary Methods—0/10
Riley’s Overall—7/10 6/10
~~
The roach skittered away before the cup had even fully lifted.
“Avalanche! There’s a roach!” Aaron called.
Her ears perked up and she leaped away from the table to check it out. The flour that coated her paws fell away with her steps and left a trail like the dusting of a first snow behind her. The roach froze once it sensed her approach, but it was a small dark shape on a white towel. It fled once again when Avalanche stuck her nose close to it and sniffed it; she sneezed on it.
She stepped in front of it and hopped awkwardly when it tried to hide under her foot. A fold formed in the towel when she moved, and the roach tucked itself against the meager shelter. Gently, Avalanche dug at the towel to smooth it out, and the roach took off again.
The roach made it to the end of the towel, shadowed by Avalanche’s curious nose. Desperate to escape her before she decided it might be a snack, the roach made a beeline for the couch and disappeared under it.
“Awoo?” Avalanche asked.
“It’s alright, go on back to making cookies. I’ll take care of the roach,” Aaron told her. Once she was back in the kitchen, he pulled out his notepad.
Efficiency—0/10
Effectiveness—0/10
Emotional Control—10/10
Physical Control—8/10
No Damage to Surroundings—10/10
Consideration for Life—10/10
Sanitary Methods—?/10
Before he gave her her rating, he had to add another line.
Cuteness—100/10
He hesitated. Should he go back and adjust Riley’s score to include this new category? He decided against it, as it would only lower his rating. Who slapped a roach, anyway?
Avalanche’s Overall—100/10
A fair and totally unbiased rating.
~~
The roach raced away from him, heading into the kitchen as soon as he released it. “Jimmy, look out for the roach!”
“Look out? What, did you get a tactical cockroach to sic on me?” Jimmy laughed at the absurdity of the concept, but his amusement faded quickly. “Wait, it's coming right at me.”
For a moment, there was no noise. Aaron was tempted to sneak a peek, but then he heard—
“He’s chasing me! Oh god, it’s flying!”
Something was broken. A plate, it sounded like.
“Why the fuck did you sic a roach on me? Why is it so big?”
Another crash.
“Whatever I did, I’m sorry!”
There was a whooshing sound that gave Aaron a strong sense of concern. Leaning around the doorjamb, he saw the kitchen in flames.
Jimmy stood near the stove, eyes wide as he looked at Aaron. “I don’t know where it went.”
Efficiency—0/10
Effectiveness—0/10
Emotional Control—0/10
Physical Control—0/10
No Damage to Surroundings—0/10
Consideration for Life—?/10
Sanitary Methods—10/10
Cuteness—0/10
Jimmy’s Overall—the kitchen is on fire
~~
“A six? I got a six?” Riley demanded.
“Yeah, you lost a point for using your bare hand. That was gross.”
“Give me that,” Riley grumbled, snatching the notepad from Aaron. He began writing as he glared at the paper, then all but threw it back.
Aaron’s Rating—BAD FRIEND
“I think you’re overreacting about the six—”
“You gave Avalanche a hundred just for being cute! She didn’t even kill the damn thing!”

OC Vs Cockroach
HI YES HELLO! I am so behind on tags, I apologize! so many people have tagged me in this one and I just haven't been able to think of any good answers, or which characters to do it for, but I finally decided on the Untitled Christian and Livia Thing.
so, your OC finds a cockroach in their home! what do they do? what is their fear response on a scale of one (doesn't care) to ten (panic attack)?
Christian: 0/10. He does not care about bugs. Since it's a cockroach he'd probably just kill it. (He does not kill spiders. He takes them outside.)
Livia: 4/10. He's a little creeped out but he manages to kill it. He flushes it down the toilet just to be sure though.
Sage: 3/10. He doesn't want to touch it, but he'll scoot it under a glass and take it outside.
Gabriel: 8/10. He screams. He does not like crawly things. If it's outside he leaves it be, but inside involves stomping and whacking with magazines. Jussi has to intervene.
Speaking of, Jussi: 2/10. He doesn't want it in his home but he doesn't want to kill it, but he also doesn't want it to come back. He flushes it and figures it'll start up a new life wherever it ends up. He's seen cockroaches climb up out of sink drains after crawling through the pluming, it should be fine, right?
Yuki: 3/10, much like Sage. They don't mind them but don't want them inside because they associate inside bugs with dirty spaces, so they shuffle it outside and drop it on one of the plants out there.
tagging: @rkmoon @theimperiumchronicles @thebejeweledwatercat @pheita @writegriffinsect and anyone else who wants to share how their ocs would react to a Sudden Cockroach

OC vs Cockroach:
Thank you for the tag @mk-writes-stuff! Sorry I got to this a little late. I had to think a little about it and then I forgot until I suddenly remembered it again.
[Rules: how would your OCs fare against a cockroach?]
I'm going to exclude the /10 ratings for each character because I don't know what to do about that so I'll just describe how each character reacts to the cockroach.
Knoron: Probably has never seen a cockroach although cockroaches would probably live in Varas estate (I researched cockroaches a small amount for this) because servants, especially Theri-vin, immediately eliminate all cockroaches before he would ever see them. Would be mildly fascinated and scared if he saw one.
Theri-vin: Immediately kills the cockroach with no comment or reaction.
Tsalir: Screams, kills the cockroach, then yells at the servants for allowing a cockroach to exist in the estate.
Shylar: Completely ignores the cockroach.
Talinar: Sees the cockroach and thinks "New friend!! :)"
Open tag because I tagged people for a different post earlier today and that is enough tagging for the day I think, that was too scary. Anyone can participate if you want.

OC vs cockroach
Thanks to @mysticstarlightduck here, @ahordeofwasps here, and @illarian-rambling here.
Already did the core characters here, so doing more now.
Noelle: 10/10 - is unbothered by it; takes a sheet of paper and a glass and takes it outside
Rose: 6/10 - stands there doing nothing while internally freaking out
Kelsey: 7/10 - absolutely terrified but goes up to it and succeeds in trapping it under a glass; doesn't know what to do next
Carla: 6.5/10 - has no idea what a cockroach is or how to deal with one, but is interested in it
George: 9/10 - goes up to the cockroach to study it and allows it to get on his finger
Hye-Jin: 7.5/10 - grabs a shoe a kills the thing, surprising everyone

OCs vs. a Cockroach Tag
LMAO
ok. Ok ok ok
Was tagged by @blind-the-winds here. This is greatness. Thank you.
Rules: rate your ocs on how well they’d fare against a cockroach
Quickly tagging @astellarium @doublegoblin @bloodlessheirbyjacques @garthcelyn @gummybugg @concealeddarkness13 @junypr-camus (no pressure! Also open tag)
I'll do the main group from Abracadabra:
Rod: 0/10
It's not that he wouldn't fight it. It's more like he'd just look at it and go 'eh'. Maybe try and trap it under a cup or something. If the cockroach tried to square up with him for some reason I think he'd avoid it for as long as possible before trying using his hat to portal it somewhere else.
Kashi: 10/10
Honestly it would be a similar instance to Rod where it wouldn't bother her so she'd ignore it. But if it did start to bother her she'd stomp on it and kill it instantly.
Layla: 2/10
She would face it. Square up with the cockroach. Do her best to prove her worth as a warrior and attempt to destroy it. Would likely be so clumsy that she'd destroy half the room first. Might actually get it in the end, but the entire time Kashi would be wondering where the warrior training had gone wrong.

OC vs Cockroach
@sarandipitywrites tagged me for this one. Thank you. ^.^
I am tagging @aziz-reads and @rmgrey-author and YOU
Rules: rank your OCs based on how well they would do with a cockroach
I've done this one with all of my current series characters already, which means all I have left are ones from the series I haven't started yet.
So, let's see how the characters from Chronicles of Ash do. It got a little long...
->scene under the cut<-
"Aisling!"
Derni's screechy little bat voice raking through the halls was worrisome, especially with her full name riding it. He never used her full name. If she didn't put the beaker down, turn off the burner and attend to her familiar there was sure to be blood next--or wayward magic, which was arguably worse.
Before she made it to the stairs, however, the resident ghost oozed her glowing blue body through the ceiling--dripping ectoplasm on the good rug--to inform her, "The rat found a bug."
"Godsdamnit, Sarah, I just had that cleaned," Ash snipped, eyes locked on the blobs of ghost-flesh soon to be very expensive stains.
"I can't help where I leak!" Sarah shrieked and, poltergeist as she was, the lights flickered and Ash had to rush to keep her potions in order.
"Alright, alright, forget about the rug," Hands up to calm the ghost, Ash walked around her and headed up the stairs, "Show me this bug that's got bat-brain so riled."
Sarah met her on the second floor, snapping a translucent arm out toward the third door down the hall. The third door on the left. The locked door that Derni was forbidden from picking open, which, at that moment, stood wide open.
"Aisling! Get your giant ass up here and help me!" Derni screamed.
Groaning, Ash stomped towards it, "Aldernicker, you petulant, fucking--" the rest was squeaked at the entry, when all that was inside her threatened to claw its way outside and she had to swallow to trap it. Sarah giggled and Ash spun to glare, "You said he found a bug."
"It is a bug," the ghost tittered, voice echoing through the hall.
"That," Ash ground, gesturing wildly at the man-size cockroach twitching in the room, with Derni held tight in its grubby legs. She hated cockroaches and her voice cracked, "is not a bug!"
Shrugging, grin spread too wide, Sarah wriggled her fingers in a wave and vanished, echo chasing to taunt, "Have fun."
Ash growled, then sighed. Her serums were stored in that room, potions and salves and experimental liquids meant to aid her against all manner of magical whatsits she might encounter. And Derni had clearly found the growth elixir...and dropped it.
"I don't have a counter for this, Derni," she told the whimpering--and randomly screaming--bat, "So I'm going to have to kill it."
"What!" He shrieked back.
"You'll be fine just...fly away while it's writhing in agony," Ash shrugged as she said it, then dropped to the floor and stabbed her finger on the pin in her choker. The sigil was an easy draw, and an easy spell, one word in a guttural tone, "Dóigh."
Derni did not agree, "BURN? What do you mean burn? Ash, don't set me on fire, don't set me on--"
Flame ignited at the center of the sigil, rushed around its simple pattern, then popped and flared. Controlled by Ash's will and gesture, the flames then ran along the floor to catch on the cockroach's legs.
The cockroach did not appreciate that.
Derni was thrown, his wings failing to catch him before he slammed into a wall, but he shook it off to screech, "Fucking roach!"
His attempt to body slam the overgrown insect also failed, as Ash caught him and rolled from long, thin angry arms as the cockroach lunged. A flick of her wrist willed the door shut, but did nothing for the ragged thumps against it or the squealing as the fire did its work.
When all was quiet, save the gentle crackle of burning bug meat--and soft pops and flares of her potions being wasted--Derni wriggled out of Ash's arms and hopped up and down on the floor in front of the closed--and smoking--door.
"That's right," he taunted, fingers pointing as aggressively as he could manage--which wasn't much, "you burn, you crisp and you die you ugly fuck!"
"Derni, the next time you disobey me," Ash spoke calm, measured, and that worried her familiar, "I'm turning you into a pair of socks and giving you to Donny."
"What, no-no-no! Aisling no," Derni forced his tired little wings to move as his Mistress got up and meandered back toward the stairs, but he didn't stop complaining, or begging, "Please, Ash, please, that man does not wash his feet! I'll be good, I'll be good, I swear!"

OC vs a Cockroach
Thanks for the Tag, @anyablackwood!
I'll answer it for Realms of Loss for this one, because I did this tag for Enchanted Illusions the last time!
Prince Archyvel of Sarythea: ????0/10 Are you kidding me?! This boy is the most spoiled person one could ever hope to meet, he's the baby brother of the King! Archyvel was raised with a silver spoon in a palace with an older brother who sheltered him every day of his life and their stepmom who was way too nice to him. If this kid sees a cockroach he's having the mental breakdown of the century - he'd scream, cry, nearly puke, and promptly run away, likely calling out to Mehri - his valet/assistant - to deal with the "revolting beast".
Mehri: 10/10 Would pick the roach up with his bare hands and gingerly lead it to the garden or somewhere far away from his prince. Is very adamant that "this little insect is just another sweet form of life that should be cherished, not hurt".
Nesrynna Alorai: 8/10 Has more important things to worry about so she doesn't bother, just walks away unless asked to do something about it. Will obliterate the roach if it gets too close to her personal space or starts to fly.
Gwain Vytris: 3/10 Hates insects, especially roaches because they feel unclean (he hates feeling/being dirty) and bring back bad memories of his childhood in the slums and forests of the Outer Cities. Usually, he won't have a breakdown or really show much of his disgust aloud, will step/jump on the thing until it's dead, or simply walk away. But if it flies and somehow gets in his hair lots of loud cursing, screaming and a lot of crying will be heard, though he'll carry on like nothing happened and stoically pretend he wasn't disturbed after the insect is dealt with.
Kassien Vann: 11/10 Somehow perfectly hits it with an arrow or drowns it with his magic, every time, he never once misses.
Adaria Vytris: 10/10 Goes full exterminator on the insect, with the wrath of a thousand suns. It won't even see her coming until it's too late. She also hates bugs, but instead of being scared/disgusted she just has a fiery hatred towards them. Will continue to stomp on the roach long after it's just goo on the floor.
Lucian Dhaeras: 8/10 Has one of his stray cats catch it and lets them play with it. If they aren't around, he is very weird about it: might set it on fire.
Drystan Earell: 10???/10 Will automatically consume its life force to fuel his magic, thus disintegrating it into ash.
Viktoras Aeravi: 7/10 Does nothing about it, just locks it in the room and makes it someone else's problem, like the little rascal he is.
Teivel: 9/10 Watches it silently from a distance and feels disgusted that a part of him - the one that was trapped in a dirty Avillorian cell for almost five years with little to no food and some days forgets he's free - even considers eating it. Feels depressed.
Delyan Sorkip: 2/10 Is the person who finds the roach Viktoras neglected to kill, usually after it crawled onto his bed at 2AM. Nearly has a heart attack, kills the roach like a normal person, and storms out of the room in tearful rage ready to start a fight with Viktoras and the Gods.
Sara Kallary: 4/10 Hates it with every fiber of her being, and even though she could probably destroy it to hell and back manages to miss it every time she tries to hit it and even if she does stomp on it the roach doesn't die. Angrily calls out to her murderous boyfriend Drystan to deal with the roach properly.
Gwynnifer: 10/10 Doesn't mind it at all and is unbothered about it. Will catch it in a jar, carefully study it and keep it alive like a pet for weeks until either: 1. it dies, 2. she sets it free, 3. she feeds it to her bonded Drakyna, who plays with it like the giant lizard-cat it is.
