#oblivion series

Note
Hiii the other day I was reminiscing about your oblivion fic, (it's my favorite fic of all time), do you plan on continuing it? Or if you're leaving it (which is fine btw, I don't wanna put pressure on you) would you tell us how you were planning to end it?
Okay so first off-
aww thank you! I'm so glad you enjoy it that much! And second off-
....
under the cut
I DID have two last installments in mind as i was planning out how things would go, But i wasn't able to get them to paper before i lost steam--In large part because @unseelie-robynx And I ended up fleshing out the Bad End from Side B And came up with a sort of splinter AU we call the Tyrant Prince AU (for more info click here!) (also Robynx has done a BUNCH of additions to the Bad end idea with her own path, it's real fun) I might go back to the original story i don't know at this juncture, so assuming i won't i'll just tell you my plans-
So i had part 5 and part 6 planned out- Part five (Ovation) was going to be about the rest of the Monkie Crew finding out about what was going on with Red
Everyone of course would react differently, Xiaojiao is trying to figure out the practicalities of un-brainwashing someone, Tang is morbidly curious about both Red's mental state and Oblivion itself (Ironically the true difference in Oblivion Classic and the Tyrant Prince timeline is that in TP Freenoodles didn't get together until AFTER Xiaotian went off the deep end into 'mind control is fine actually' but in Oblivion Classic They're long married because there was gonna be a joke about Pigsy threatening to divorce Tang if he tried to use him as a guinea pig for mind control studies) And Pigsy is sure 'mind control' is just Xiaotian not understanding how drugs work and thinks Red's just Suuuppeerrr High, Sandy is most concerned with keeping Red comfortable so when the 'high' fades he won't have TOO Massive a crash.
But Red IS starting to sober up, if slowly, and once more tells Xiaotian he loves him- which Xiaotian asks again for him to stop,
And it's the first time Red's sober enough to say no to him. I never got to this scene but i imagined Red being both THOROUGHLY addicted to the mind control present, but also getting sober enough to know that something's not right. though the only thing he can peice together as not right is that he's not going to pretend like he doesn't 'love' him when he does and that he 'doesnt need oblivion' which his supposedly also does.
And this is the moment where Xiaotian decides he can't pretend to know what's best for Red, OR that he'd be a good anchor for Red to cling to while he gets sober, and he has to just admit defeat and properly deliver him back to his parents.
He explains the situation as best as he can to them, but they don't really trust or believe him, but he hands red over, says they don't have to tell him anything past this point, but for his own peace of mind he'd LIKE to know if Red starts doing better, and just leaves. (doing his best to ignore Red's crying for him and begging not to 'give him' to his parents because 'he belongs to him' and all that)
Which leads into Part 6 which is basically just a one scene epilogue
it's two years since then, the bull family hasn't been seen hide nor hair of excepting one or two sightings of bull clones buying groceries, and Red Son returns to the city, clean for long enough that he still has some questions and tests that need to be done. It's awkward, but Xiaotian agrees to whatever Red Son needs.
It's simple things, asking for Xiaotian's perspective on the whole event, if his Parents DID tell him how he'd been doing (they did not) and asking if he gets the memories of the clones when they destabilize (He does not)
And then ultimately- asks him to order him to do something. anything. Said firmly, said like he EXPECTS him to do it. So he can be SURE he can say no.
Xiaotian obliges, something simple like 'take off your glasses' which is immediately responded to with 'Fuck off Noodle Boy'
They're both pleased.
Red Son states his parents might try to take over the world again, and he'd probably supply them with tech, but he's not sure if he's ready to get back into the fights himself. it feels... wrong, still. That he's not THAT recovered yet. And perhaps when his therapist hears he sort of went rogue for this, he would be scolded for trying to rush the process, but...
there was one more thing he wants to know. Something he NEEDS to know for himself. Because if he doesn't know then he'll spend the rest of his life questioning it.
Xiaotian is about to ask what he means but Red Son rushes up to him-
and Kisses him.
Because he needs to know if that was real, or just another thing the clone did to him.
Admittedly i wanted the result to be ambiguous, Xiaotian pulls away and Red Son immediately fire teleports away, and we switch to his POV, and he's several buildings away, still watching Xiaotian as he looks around for him, looking worried. And Red Son takes a breath, and looks back in the direction he knows the club once was, and heads home with a smile.
the Last line being 'But now he Knew'

OC tagging game!
@vegalocity tagged me in this for our Lost Princess from the Sequel to the LMK Tyrant Prince AU
Da Rules (Copy and pate 'em!)
You and hopefully one of your OCs have been tagged! Your job is to make a post about them, and it can be whatever you want! Talk about general information, their backstory, their design inspiration, post some sketches or older art, write up a few fun facts, as long as it's something!
When you're done, be sure to pass it along by tagging at least one other person and their OC (you can tag as many people as you want though!) Tag backs are allowed and encouraged.
When you tag someone, try to specify an OC, even if you don't know who they are yet (i.e. "You should do that OC with the butterfly wings you posted the other day!" or "Do the OC you drew most recently!")
Participation is not required, but even if you don't want to, it'd be great to pass the tag along to someone else!
So without further ado, meet 真君 aka Zhenjun the Lost Princess of Flower Fruit Mountain.
Tumblr media
Now the first thing you may be asking is, but Rob, is she's meant to be a monkey, why does she have wings? That is because in the LOOOOONG drawn out ending of the Tyrant Prince AU that leads to this Sequel one Tang Sanzang ends up throwing his staff into the Jade Emperor's face, taking off on his own to strike a deal with Aphrodite before ending up in Babylon where he ends up getting adopted/becoming the champion of Queen Ishtar.
So... not exactly a a Buddha anymore, and considering this all happened because he had multiple millennia of repressed emotions regarding one very specific Monkey, it was only a matter of time before things came out and the fact that said Monkey also had millennia worth of pining to work through came out and idiots 1 and 2 finally got together.
But then you might ask, so why is she the 'Lost' Princess?
Good readers do you think these two traumatized idiots (one of which is far more traumatized than the other, having the successor you thought of as a son forcibly rip your mind apart and try to effectively make you a slave will do that to a guy) are in a place to raise a child? Especially a surprise child that came about because they are sappily in love all the time around a Goddess of Fertility (and her husband, who is also a fertility god)?
Absolutely not.
So Lady Ishtar tried to put of allowing this very nice rock to hatch into a baby, and succeeded for like, centuries. But even she had limited so off to the city to find a nice human couple struggling with conception to pass off this lovely "normal" human baby too.
(Incidentally, Zhenjun is like, the most emotionally stable out of ALL of the various on-and-off residents of FFM, because of, you know, lack of trauma and an emotionally stable upbringing)
Of course there wouldn't be a story if she stayed lost, but before that, you should meet some of her... interesting friends.
By which I mean I'm no good at tags so I'm throwing this back at @vegalocity to do our Spider BFF. (or one of the others, and only if you want)

Loki has had exactly two moments where he thought Sylvie was dead, and both resulted in the most excruciating pain and sorrow he’s ever felt in his life.
Yeah, being stuck in tree at the end of time forever kinda sucks, and he’s kinda terrified of being alone for all eternity. But living in a world where Sylvie is dead? Worse. So, so, so much worse. He would rather face centuries of isolation than experience that kind of pain again.
I don’t care what anyone says. That’s LOVE.

I do feel bad for Owen. Clearly this is NOT his forte. #freeowen
I'm guessing Owen has some kind of contract to do all the covers for the "Erin Hunter" books, since he also seems to do the art for Bravelands and Survivors. Which baffles me.
When you look at his portfolio, it seems clear that animals are NOT his strong suit. He mostly designs them as monsters or setpieces, not as characters in their own right. His humans, objects, and backgrounds are excellent, while his animals are quite generic-- So why did they choose this artist to design for their xenofiction series?
The art he does for Percy Jackson and Artemis Fowl is not as jilted and uninspired as his work for any of the Erin Hunter series. He does have a thing for harsh lighting (too harsh for my taste) but the composition is fine and the characters are recognizable. Certainly not "someone tried to unlock your phone" tier. It's strange.
It strikes me like he's not "comfortable" enough with animals to experiment with them, heavily referencing zoomed-in photos and leaving it there. Note how his cats are almost never doing anything, just sitting or standing around looking confused.
Has he ever even drawn a battle cat... battling?
I don't really feel "bad" for him, OR "mad" at him, because we have no idea what's happening behind the scenes, but I WILL say that I feel he is an absolutely awful match for WC. I don't understand what about his portfolio made him look like a good replacement for Wayne McLoughlin, besides some executive recognizing his style from somewhere else.
I hope he is compensated well for his work, but I don't buy hardcovers because of his art and am holding out hope that someone else takes over someday.

You got any other ideas for what a character would do if they got their hands on the oblivion song? Like, what if one of the guys who where villains before oblivion found the song?
I got this question while walking home from getting lunch so i had some time to think about it
the most obvious answer would be Red Son, have Red be the Oblivion Mastermind, but idk if that would work out he's too brash and wouldn't be able to think things through
But then i remembered the Little Brother AU that @unseelie-robynx is planning out and i thought 'well... we've seen Macaque as an antihero/undercover agent in Tyrant Prince, he's a pure Victim in Little Brother, what about a world where he's the mastermind?'
I call this the False King AU
So Macaque gets hold of the Oblivion record, let's say this happens around the time that records are INVENTED so it's some time in the 1900s he's gambling with a demon warlord to get something that could either help him with his revenge plots or break his contract with LBD whichever comes first, and in the normal timeline, that's how he gets the shadow lantern.
this time the warlord pulls out a record and tells him the magic contained in it has the power to send any demon to their knees. they play their game, macaque wins, he walks out with a record instead of a lantern.
But Macaque's not a fool. he wasn't even sure if he believed the validity of the record, but, hey, leave no stone unturned. So he plays it and, mind you this is the demons only track so he as a Basically Undead celestial monkey is unaffected, But the demon he tested it on wasn't so lucky.
Macaque figures out quickly how powerful this thing is. But while it could MAYBE break his contract with LBD if he could 'Convince' her to let him go, it could just as easily be completely ineffective on her and just piss her off when she finds out he's trying to back out of the deal that brought him back to life.
So his next idea is how to use this to his advantage in the Vengance category. Because, well, in the Oblivion Timeline a lot of Macaque's problems come from an unreliable memory of the events that befell himself and his brother, so he needs to find a way to change the music that it would work on his brother. But also NOT work on him.
So he spends a long while with it on the backburner, learning the full extent of what Oblivion can do, the amount of time it needs for Big changes, and planning out what he wants to do with it.
then when Technology advances enough for sound editing, he burns the record onto a computer and gets to work. Xiaotian as the Tyrant Prince has a phone and flashdrives, Macaque at first has a floppy disk and a handful of CDs much like his brother in the 'Wukong corruption arcs himself' timeline, Macaque has no option but to use himself as a guniea pig. And figures when he starts loosing time is when it's about as good as he can possibly get it before he needs to cancel out the magic.
Now, it's been CENTURES since he last came knocking on flower fruit mountain to force a fight out of his brother, so when Macaque shows up at the beach, looking the perfect part of sheepish and remorseful, Wukong is cagey and clearly expecting a trap, but when Macaque spins a story about travelling all over the world to try and find peace with himself and his mysterious resurrection that fighting him never had, and- and his only chance left to maybe settle the HOLE in his chest is to forgive him- He's honestly surprised that Wukong accepts the explination. Wukong as we all know has been SUPER depressed for centuries now, his old master is at the thunderclap monestary full time and doesn't talk to him anymore, Baije was killed, Wujing chose to reincarnate, Longma moved on, he has no one anymore. and his baby brother is at his doorstep asking to reconcile.
of course he's gonna do it.
And of course despite being wary, when Macaque pulls out one of those fancy new 'CD Players' and a strange little headset and said he was working on music and made a mixtape of his work, would Wukong like to hear? he slid the strange little headband over his ears after being told it was the only way to listen to CDs and- his head hits the table they were both sat at between one breath and the next, eyes staring into nothing and mind suddenly shutting off.
Macaque is... a little shaken. He didn't expect it to be this easy. he didn't expect Wukong to JUMP at the chance to reconnect.
he didn't expect how much he WANTED to believe his brother did sincerely want to come home that he'd so clearly ignored his better instincts.
and technology hasn't developed quite so well yet for him to not be getting a little oblivion bleedthrough so Macaque is feeling a little more emotionally candid than he was before and pulls out the script he was going to read to Wukong, just like a standard 'you're gonna hate yourself and think i'm better than you' payback type thing. and... he didn't want this for his brother.
He spends some time watching him sleep as he'd been commanded to, letting out gentle chirping noises and nuzzling into any gentle touch he was given and...
crumples up the note and tosses it into the trash bin.
Macaque spends a full week planning out what to say, and the whole time Wukong is slumbering under its power, letting the music go deeper and deeper into his brain, pausing only to switch out the batteries in the CD player when they die.
And Macaque comes to one conclusion. One thing that he'd always known. that they'd have been happier, so much happier
if Sun Wukong was never the Monkey King in the first place.
he spends a few hours with a microphone and his CD burning equipment and switches the basic track out with the one he was already using and gives him another week for it to bake in.
A stone monkey blinks his eyes open in a small cabin in the middle of a mountain, and there's a dark furred monkey with six ears resting by his bedside. he asks him how his head feels, and the stone monkey reaches up and feels bandages on his head. the dark furred monkey introduces himself as Liu 'er Mihou. He says he's not surprised the stone monkey has amnesia. some pretty horrible people put him in a coma from a horrible fillet they'd placed on his brow. The stone monkey can feel a scar on his forehead from where the fillet apparently had been and doesn't ask why it feels like an old scar not one freshly closed up like his brother implies
Liu 'er Mihou tells him his name is Sun Wukong. And He's Liu 'er's younger brother. Liu 'er Mihou himself being the ruler of the mountain they lived on, the Monkey king. And as his younger brother that made Sun Wukong a prince. they ruled over their monkey subjects and protected their home against foes.
also as the prince, Wukong was also an accomplished fighter and would always swiftly and easily take down intruders when they came about.
the staff he was given and told was his own felt uncomfortably light
then there was an... not necessarily an 'intruder' since he didn't show up with the intent to show up, he'd simply washed up on the beach one day. a young boy wandering around lost looking for the Monkey King. So wukong dropped in to ask what he wanted with his brother, only to have the child mistake HIM for his brother instead.
and... you know... he was supposed to take care of intruders, so if he played along long enough for the kid to leave he'd still be doing his job. He talks about successors and how the child was to take his place or something, and convinces the child to believe in himself so he can leave and feel like he's doing good as he does so.
Big brother asks what he was up to, but looks at him and shows that he already heard, and Wukong just shrugs and says the kid was here by accident, not an intruder. he figured if he left of his own volition then it's the same basic principle.
Liu 'er rolls his eyes and pats his head in a way that makes Wukong think he'd done this since Wukong was a cub, and tells him he's a good person.
And Sun Wukong is happy to have such a caring Big brother. and such a wonderful Monkey King to follow.
and then the child shows back up to ask for training

Right, so I've been getting anons (which i don't get so it's been kinda surreal) and basically the proposition of a Oblivion variant where it's Monkey King who gets the mind control music and somehow goes down a corruption ark and ends up Little Brother-ifying Macaque and then *also* using it on Xiaotian and keeping him as well.
(And that's a bit open as to if it's baby brother or cub, but I kind of like the idea that since Sun Wukong basically raised Macaque anyways in the premise relationship this is spawning from, that Monkey King isn't entirely sure where he stands on what he'd doing with Xiaotian either, but also he decides that the specifics don't matter as much and what does is that he's got Xiaotian safe on FFM with Liu Er and nothing is going to take his family away from him EVER AGAIN)
But mostly I've been thinking about how we would get to a corruption for SWK, and how he would get a version of the music that works on Macaque/Xiaotian. (although since Xiaotian starts off human, that first part had been easy)
I've ended up with some ideas, and since I need to get them out of my system, you all get to deal with them.
Please note that this isn’t trying to stop over what Anon was going for or wanted to explore, because I am still psyched for that and to see what awesomeness they create, but they got my brain juices flowing and I was just jotting down ideas that came to me and it turned into this monstrosity. So, again, not trying to stop on anyone’s toes, I’m just incapable of stopping myself (Also this is a 2 Part post. Because I started writting and didn’t stop and you get 10 points of SWK falling and breaking Macaque here, and then The Other Post is 10 points on Xiaotian and the cannon timeline)
1. SWK stumbles on the music (we hand wave that part) and realizes he can use it to get demons to stop attacking. And since he wants to retire, he is down for this. He starts using it a lot in it's basic function of blasting it and ordering the demon to leave and go home and never do this again. And it works
2. maybe he gets a little bit suspicious as to how well it works, and tests it on some one, learning how much more it's actually doing than just turning demons away. (so now he knows he's in possession of mind control magic)
3. he has some internal crisis about this, but also he doesn't want to come out of the mostly retired state he's in, and he doesn't want to leave everyone completely defenseless if he just stops. So he starts the corruption process with justifying using it to stop bad demons.
4. SWK ends up with a situation where it's not demons that are the problem, it's wicked humans. This is... a problem. Because the way the music is now, it doesn't work on humans, and SWK can clearly see that there are evil humans just as much as there are evil demons, and since he's the hero he should help with *both*.
It's now more modern time (think late 90's ish?), and SWK isn't tech illiterate, (he had a VR set and lots of people HC he made the game Xiaotian played in that episode) so he picks up audio editing and through trial and error finds a music that can work on humans.
because he'd been forced to kill the corrupt humans from the incident above, and SWK hates that he did that. this way is better, because no one gets hurt, and the people he stops can then go on to live better lives. they just need a nudg* in the right direction, like the kind he was given so long ago.
 5. somewhere in all of this, Macaque comes back. And SWK hadn't known about his little brother being resurrected, but reincarnation is a thing, so when he hears a rumor about a six eared being, he thinks it might be that reincarnation and takes off after the rumors.
It's not a reincarnation he finds. And SWK is completely flabbergasted by the sight of his Liu Er (his fur is black instead of the white it used to be, but it was like that when the fought as well and there are more important things to think about, like the fact that his little brother who he killed who's body he buried is ALIVE. The shock of it is enough for Macaque to escape, but now SWK is on a hunt. He lost Liu Er once, he wont loose him again now that he has this second chance.
 6. SWK is basically devoting all his energy into finding his brother. But along the way, with lots on encounters and near misses, he figures out that Macaque is still angry and bitter, still in that mindset that lead to SWK putting him down before the celestials could do something worse. trap him away, make him scream in agony from pain he couldn't stop, break him into pieces, burn him alive, shatter his mind and heart SWK can't let that happen, which means he need to change Liu Er's mind.
And he wrestles with himself over this decision, eventually deciding that it's the only way this is ever going to end. (at least, the only way it ends where his brother is safe and home where he belongs) but this is a huge step from where he was before with using the music, and a skid down the slippery slope he's on
 7. problem is, the music doesn't work on SWK, so he doubts it will work on Liu Er either. So SWK stops looking for his brother and turns his attention to developing something that will work on him. Lots of self testing, and SWK knows he's getting it right when he looses time, and he knows this is reckless and dangerous, but he needs it to work. And, eventually, it does.
 8. Macaque's gotten jumpy by this point, what with the way SWK had suddenly stopped the until then relentless pursuit. It leads him to doing something stupid ie. going to FFM to spy.
He get's caught. Obviously.
But SWK is ecstatic because Liu Er came to him, came home, so deep down he must still want to be home, with him. And SWK wastes no time in forcing headphones on Macaque and starting the music before he can figure out what's going on.
At that point SWK basicaly... 'suggests' all those things he just thought, and also drills it in deep that Macaque want's to be a good person from now on.
 9. initially, that was all SWK was going to do. all he was going to allow himself to do. But Macaque is stubborn and keeps fighting against the music and needing to go under again and again, and SWK can't help but... throw things in, each time. About how things used to be. About how sweet his little brother was. About how much he missed when Liu Er would follow him about and let himself be taken care of.
And little by little, Macaque fades away and little Liu Er takes his place.
But it's such a gradual thing, that's happening over years and decades-
(I HC that LMK takes place in the future from our modern time. yes it's Lego but also they have hover-bikes and transforming vehicles and at least the original spider mech wasn't *made* with magic, just used it as a battery, so there's *time* between when SWK can start editing things vs when the show starts of all this. We're hand-waving the exact timeline, just go with it)
-SWK doesn't even realy see the corruption happening. His little brother is safe and happy and wont ever leave him again so things are good. He's the hero after all, he keeps people safe, keeps them happy, helps criminals see the light and be good, and all he wants in return is to be left alone with his little brother in their home. SWK deserves to have his perfect adorably little brother back. He's earned this. And clearly Liu Er is so much happier this way. SWK is the hero, and he knows what’s best.
 10. Time passes, SWK gets used to being able to switch things around in Liu Er's mind whenever he feels like it, and normalizes using the music for everything and anything.

PART 2 OF THE MADDEST OBSESSION HEADCANNONS. BRINGING THIS BACK CUZ IF WE DON'T GET CONTENT, WE MAKE THE CONTENT.
Christian is ambidextrous.
Gianna is left-handed.
Gianna gives Christian forehead kisses and it melts him on the inside everytime.
Christian is a shoulder-kisser. Cuddling? Shoulder kiss. Washing dishes together? Shoulder kiss. Waking up next to her in the morning? Shoulder kiss. Thanking his wife for anything? Shoulder. Kiss.
Gianna calls Christian "malysh" in a horrible accent just to piss him off.
Other times she reverts to "Allister" but Christian just pulls her close to remind her (against her lips, ofcourse) that they are both "Allister" now.
They have three children.
On days Christian is away on a work trip, he wears Gianna's hairtie on his wrist.
Gianna picks up on Christian's habits after Kat is born and finds herself aligning things or setting them upright unknowingly when she is distracted or stressed.
Christian breaks a jammed door when he can't get to Gianna during a powercut.
Gianna tries to seduce Christian multiple times during her pregnancy it works everytime
Christian has run out at 3 in the morning and threatened a taco truck owner just to fulfil Gianna's cravings.
Gianna checks out Christian's ass so often even Kat makes a habit of tilting her head and whistling under her breath when her Father is not looking even though she doesn't understand why her Mother does it in the first place.
Christian is always outwardly displeased (inwardly, at peace) whenever he sees his brother getting along splendidly with his wife.
Gianna stops forcing Christian to eat the sweets she makes but it doesn't stop him from licking her finger clean off the batter.
Christian has mastered the art of cooking with one hand because his daughter always wants to be held.
Gianna foaming at the mouth is speechless when she wakes up one morning to see a freshly showered Christian with his hair dripping wet, holding Kat in one arm and flipping pancakes in the other.
Sometimes Christian pretends to be asleep when he can feel Gianna watching him but he almost always ends up biting her finger when she starts trailing it all over his face.
Gianna has woken up to Christian snuggling against her neck with his arms wrapped around her, deep in sleep, too many times to ruin it by telling him he cuddles her in his sleep.
Christian is a girldad. Whatever his girls want, his girls get.
For his birthday, Gianna gets a number 3 tattooed on the inside of her ring finger.
For her birthday, Christian tells her another secret he's never told anyone else.
He's found happiness. Her.
GOOD LORD THIS WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO END ON A SAPPY NOTE BUT HERE WE ARE. SPECIAL THANKS TO MEDS♡ FOR ALWAYS BEING READY TO SCREAM, CRY, BANG HEAD ON WALLS WHENEVER WE TALK ABOUT TMO!♡
