I completely agree with all the disappointment and outrage over the leaked Sumeru characters being so pale, especially Kusanali. That is absolutely justified.
However, I can't really get behind all the discourse about Kusanali being a child. I do get the general aversion anything loli adjacent, but I think people are overlooking the interesting narrative and thematic implications of the god of wisdom being a child. She is supposed to be the youngest archon, so it makes sense in that regard. Sumeru will also be the first nation to really touch on the impact of having different archons (since Makoto and Ei were twins, I'm pretty sure most of Inazuma has no idea they've had a different archon since Khaenr'iah fell). We already know that they call her "Lesser Lord Kusanali," so it's hard to believe there isn't some kind of inferiority complex going on there. And if all archons can change their shape as they want, maybe the reason Kusanali is still a child is because she was a child when she became archon. The people may have infantalized her to the point where she just accepts it. There's also a common theme about children being considered more wise than adults because they haven't developed any internal biases yet. The story could take this in so many different directions. For all we know, she could be the previous archon's daughter. I like the narrative possibilities this could inspire.
She does need a serious melanin infusion, at the very least.
EDIT: I've seen a lot of people online explaining how Nahida might be inspired by the Hindu goddess of wisdom Saraswati (also known as Anahita in Persian mythology), who was usually described as pale and dressed in white (sometimes as white as the moon, which directly relates to how she describes herself as the moon in the Sumeru Promotional Video). So while we still desperately need more representation in Genshin, there does seem to be some mythological precedent for her.
EDIT 2: I am fully aware that Saraswati isn't depicted in art as pure, printer paper white like Nahida is in game. Saraswati is also associated with a lot more color and iconography than Nahida has shown. I only mentioned Saraswati as an example of what cultural and mythological figures hyv might be drawing from. I'm not an expert in any sort of SWANA religions or mythologies and never claimed to be one. I'm an internet nerd who just wanted to share different perspectives on a controversial character.

Demigod MC Series: Hestia
This is another eternally virgin goddess, so we're doing another pseudo-demigod by adoption (like we did with Athena).
Demigod MC: Intro, Aphrodite, Hermes, Hades, Dionysus, Demeter, Athena, Hades Pt. 2, Poseidon, Ares, Hestia
Hestia is the goddess of the Hearth, Home, Architecture, Domesticity, Family, and the State. She's high up there (firstborn of Rhea and Cronus), but several factors have led to her falling into the background when compared to the other (flashier) Olympians. She swore to never marry, rejecting proposals from both Poseidon and Apollo, and is something of an antithesis to Aphrodite.
Lucifer
Honestly? He thought they were exactly what they were after. A weak human with no experience in the magical world what-so-ever.
Well… He was half-right.
On the surface, this is a pretty weak human. They don't have super flashy powers or a divine birth from the gods… but they do have a very protective adoptive mother.
The brothers had just settled in for their first dinner with the new human when the goddess herself strolled into their dining room, asked who was in charge, then dragged Lucifer away by the ear!
She's not even his mother, yet he felt the intense urge to apologize and put himself in his own room… Oh, the humiliation… at least she did the same to Diavolo…
The Prince was only able to calm her down by promising absolutely NO harm would come to her child… on their heads...
By the time the goddess finally let him go, Lucifer was about ready to shackle the MC to his wrist so nothing could touch them but he settled on keeping them with him like an assistant of sorts. They were in charge of helping him with the paperwork so he could keep an eye on them.
What he didn’t expect was for them to be so… good at it? They could keep his offices clean, they managed his daily schedule, fixed up the House, and still have time to bring him tea and sweets every night!
They could even reign in his brothers somehow… They weren't strong or intimidating, but one or two mildly unhappy words out of them and everybody would be on their best behavior.
Was everyone positive they're only human...?
As much as he hated to admit, he may have a slight deep case of falling for the housekeeper… He would make a move, but well…
He has Beel to contend with first.
Mammon
Okay so, watching Lucifer get dragged out by the ear just like Raphael used to do to him was hilarious!!! The whole room got a good laugh! 🤣
Until Hestia glared at them and suddenly they all felt like they'd disappointed someone important….
And all that fuss over some dumb human??
So what if they made amazing food?
So what if they could clean the entire mansion in a day?
So what if they were the walking equivalent to a warm cup of cocoa on a winter's day??
So what if they were just the kindest, sweetest thing in this godforsaken hellscape and he would throw himself in front of a bus to keep them safe-
-Wait, when did that happen?!?
Seriously, Mammon's attachment to the MC came out of NOWHERE to him. One day, he was threatening to eat their soul and the next he's freaking out when they stub their toe!
He swears they have to have some kind of magic about them! A charm, or a spell, or… their lovable smile and warm, loving hugs...! 😊
Damnit!! They're too cute!! He needs them to go away but also never leave, thanks. 😒
In all seriousness, though their kind nature puts Mammon's tsundere self at a bit of a disadvantage, his protective instincts shoot through the roof whenever they're involved.
Naturally, that means his day is spent running them away from hungry lesser demons or shielding them from Beel and Lucifer's tug-of-war matches… He's a busy guy these days. 😖
Leviathan
They're so… so… MOE!!!
That was his immediate thought when Mammon brought them home. He was expecting a defenseless human, but not one that could have stepped out of one of his slice-of-life manga!
To be honest, his instant thought was try and find a place to sit them on his shelves with the rest of the adorable characters he loves… 😅
And that was before they even opened their mouth! Five words into their introduction and he was ready to get their face on a t-shirt!!
Honestly, combine their natural cuteness with their household skills and they made for perfect waifu/husbando material…
Not helped by the fact they found one of his maid/butler outfits while doing the laundry one day. Not only did they ask if they could wear it, they actually non-ironically liked it and started wearing it around the House!!
Oh he got cornered by Beel, Lucifer, and Mammon separately that day because they thought he was using them for fetish fuel… But it was their idea, he swears!!
I mean… He didn't discourage them or anything either but still…
If Beel hadn't claimed them on Day One, Levi might have eventually thrown his hat in the ring too... Oh well… he can pine from a distance… What else is new? 😔
Satan
He has a video of Hestia dragging Lucifer out of the dining room on his phone and it's one of his most treasured possessions now. 😌
He is perhaps the only person in the House who was not at all impressed with their little human.
So they could cook? So could he. So they can clean? That's not impressive. They could manage a household? Big deal, he's more or less been in charge of the same thing for centuries!
As far as he saw it, there was nothing the MC could do that he couldn't do as proficiently or even better. There was nothing remarkable about this human at all!
… except for one thing.
That maid/butler outfit of Levi's? The one they like to wear around?
It has cat accessories…
Either they don't notice or they don't mind it but they essentially walk around the House cleaning things with little kitty ears attached to their head and a bell on their collar…
Dammit… Why did Levi even buy that?!?
Satan ended up getting in trouble for enchanting their outfit to give them REAL ears and a tail "accidentally..." Lucifer strung him up by his toes, Beel gave him a black-eye, and Mammon still calls him a "perverted cat freak" but it was worth it, he says, worth it!!
Asmodeus
Oh Beel…
Asmo saw Beel's feelings for the MC coming from a mile away. He didn't even need to confirm it with a sniff check, he had them scented by the end of their first night!
Lucifer, on the other hand, now that was a surprise... 😏
Ask him a century ago if Lucifer would ever consider a human lover, godly mother or no, and he'd have laughed! Yet here he is, giving gifts and sneaking whiffs of their adorable new housemate!
Of course, that's causing some commotion because they're pitted against each other, but Asmo finds it kind of cute honestly.
Beel and Lucifer aren't fighting, not for real. The whole house knows Lucifer would win in a real brawl, but neither of them actually want to hurt the other… They're far too close for that.
So Beel tosses Lucifer around with kid gloves and Lucifer holds back considerably against Beel. It's pretty much just two brothers who love each other squabbling over the same toy… 🤭
Honestly, Lucifer might have bowed out by now and just let Beel have them but now his pride's on the line… thus an endless tussle between family and the sweet MC is in the middle, clueless to it all!
Tragic, is it not? But it certainly makes things more entertaining around here! (Good thing too since Beel beat him to the punch… If it's a fight against those two, he'll have to keep any of his own affairs with the MC under the radar... 😏)
Beelzebub
He has claimed this one. Full stop.
For a bit of perspective: when Barbatos needs cooking tips, he calls Hestia. Hestia, the Divine Master of All Things Cooking. Hestia, the goddess who raised this MC…
Needless to say if they have any magic at all, it's in the kitchen.
If food is the way to Beel's heart, this MC has claimed his heart, soul, and probably all of his vital organs. Their food is astounding!! Always perfect every time and so good it brings him to tears!
It started the night of that first dinner, prepared by MC. He was too busy scarfing down the table to even notice a goddess showed up and then he proposed to the MC with their own pig roast by meal's end!
They said no to marriage, but an instant pact agreement suited him just fine.
Beel didn't waste a single moment before he started treating them like a potential mate, territorial aggression and all, but there was a bit of a catch… He kept the MC totally oblivious to it.
Surprisingly, Beel's can turn the "They're MINE" part of his brain on and off pretty well. He's nothing but sweet and cuddly to the MC when they're around and even with his brothers!... as long as they don't try anything.
The moment he caught whiff that Lucifer might be pursuing them too, it was on. Suddenly the two brothers who almost never fight were in competition against each other! But of course, both have an unspoken rule to never do so in front of MC.
And now poor MC believes it's common for demons to "play wrestle" like puppies and hugs are traditionally supposed to be so hard they could snap spines…
And it doesn’t look like they'll be backing down any time soon… Oh dear...
Belphegor
You know what? For once, everything goes exactly to plan for Belphie!
No really, this MC has no hidden powers, no magic horses, not even Demon Nip. They are a helpless, trusting little human who just wants to help their big teddy bear get his twin back!
So, you know how it goes. The charm, the lies, the treachery and all of that. He even gets to kill them!! Oh, happy days!! 😁
Come to think of it, they did smell an awful lot like Beel… But who cares, as long as Lucifer suffers right?? And this whole "living together in harmony" crap fails, right?!
Wrong.
Beel went ballistic. Lucifer did too, but Beel was what really hurt…
Belphie can safely say that in all of his life, Beel has never physically attacked him. Not once, or at least, not with intent to kill…
But when the sixthborn's fist went crashing through the wall right by his ear that day, he knew his brother's first instinct was to aim for his head… and his second was to miss, as he still loved him, but only by just a little.
What the hell did he just do??
Thank their father for Barbatos and all the funky time stuff he can do because bringing the MC "back" snapped his angry brothers right out of it.
Things should have been smoothed over at that point but as everyone was finally settling down for tea, Hestia made another appearance in the House… this time carrying a butcher's knife!
Time fix or no, Diavolo had promised her no harm would come to MC and at least one continuity of them DIED… so punishment was now on Lucifer and the Demon Prince himself!
Belphie, in a rare case of guilt and an expression of brotherly love, offered to take their place since it WAS kind of all his fault. His gesture softened the Goddess of Family juuust enough to lighten his sentence from execution to hard labor.
And thus, the MC had their own housekeeping assistant for a whole year, complete with bitter reluctance and a matching maid outfit! Cat-theme and all!!
He's sending nightmares to anybody who laughs… guaranteed. 😒

@butterfly-mochi Rewrote this freaking thing thrice because it keeps getting deleted wth tumblr agjvahkfajkvk- I enjoyed writing it a lot tho and since I’m too weak to the characters I ended up writing for all of them (except for Sucrose, im sorry bb huhu, I ran out of brain power). This is my first time writing for so many of them in one go so please excuse me for any mistakes or blandness ywy thank you for letting me write for my baby Ganyu too hhhhh
Universe Reversal 2
Genshin Impact Character Reader and Modern Players with Zhongli, Childe & Ganyu (how they simp for you) (event masterlist / Part 1 / Part 3)
Tumblr media
Zhongli the F2P
Tumblr media
The most relatable out of the bunch because this man is still broke and can only rely on the primogems he can farm. And he had a LOT. The one thing he doesn’t have a lot on, however, is his luck.
So how did he manage to pull you?: Well after exhausting all his primogem on your banner with nothing but weapons and other characters, he has lost his resolve. But by some weird luck, there was a character bug that was fixed and in his email was the almighty consolation primogem. Enough for ONE pull. And by the Gods he FINALLY got you.
He’d nonchalantly post his screenshot of pulling you using a single acquaint fate in his friend group without any words and everyone else just loses their shit. “You got them in one pull?!” “Yeah” A riot.
This was partnered with the fact that not only is Zhongli an F2P player, but also barely has any five star characters.
He looks calm and apathetic over the news, but behind the screen he’s exhausted and relieved, silently livid.
He has no primogems left to squeeze for a constellation so you’re instead pampered with the best weapon suitable for you (because that’s all he keeps getting).
Zhongles spends most of his time farming for materials to quickly level you up, unlocking all your stories and voiceline, but he fucked up on your build (his artifacts are messy).
He follows communities, forums and videos regarding your character to know all the things he needs to perfect your build. You can barely make a dent against normal mobs, so he knew he was doing something VERY wrong.
Is the type of person to keep refreshing the page for new content, very updated.
Ask him a question about your character and he’s gonna bring you the word vomit that is his research. He’s not gonna stop- probably accidentally developed a copypasta for you.
Also follows your VA in both Tiktok and Twitter to indulge in every bit of content. He also has that screenshot of his pull saved and locked.
On his birthday, a friend of his gifted him a chibi plushie of you and he has treasured it ever since, treating and handling it like its a figurine.
“It is merely pure luck and grace from the gacha gods that I got this character, and I will make sure that they know I am very grateful for this fortune.”
Favorite Voiceline: Birthday Message
Childe The Whaler
Tumblr media
This lucky wealthy bastard with no remorse for his money whales for EVERY character. He’s making a collection, which is to get all the characters, especially the five stars. So when your banner finally popped up, he’s gonna square up and trigger a whole ass meteor shower.
How he pulled you: Money. His luck with this games are actually not the best so he always compensates with money, he got you halfway through the first failed pity, almost giving him a heart attack that he might actually break the bank just to get you.
And then he pulls more to raise your constellation lol.
The first thing he does is look over your character info and read through it all; constellation infos, your base stats, artifact compatibility.
At the end when he’s maximized everything, he would then focus on playing around with your character *coughs climbing noises coughs*
He thought you’d just be another part of his collection but playing with your character was very enjoyable and in-line with his playstyle- oops 100 screenshots with the Kamera-
Any and all merchandise that he fancies would be his, and he’s definitely flexing it to the other sweetie nerds who call themselves simps. He’s fighting for the simping title, and he’s currently neck and neck with this fanartist in Pixiv.
Speaking of that fanartist, he definitely commissioned an expensive and detailed portrait of you, full rights and everything. No one else was allowed to use it but him.
Was also the first one with the audacity to call out your VA to create an account on Tiktok to create more content with your voice. He was successful.
His obssession also comes in the form of self-indulgent contents, and had been keeping track of the ship wars happening. During conventions, he cosplays as the character shipped with you the most (or the character he thinks should end up with you).
Silently scrutinizing those who cosplay you, only ever taking pictures with/of the best looking one, sorry haha
Definitely flaunts that you are his waifu/husbando and will fight for best girl/best boy during debates or polls. Has mobilized the community to vote for you once. He’s very persuasive.
“Hm? Why I’m just the best collector in the game, and I am more than happy to let everyone know that I am their number one fan haha, everyone who claims otherwise is definitely wrong!”
Favorite Voiceline: More About (Y/N) I-IV, (Y/N)’s Hobbies...
Ganyu the Employed
Tumblr media
Ganyu, our dearest overworker, is one of the players in the older stage who actually has a job but still plays Genshin for their past times. The gorgeous sceneries and the music is her main focus in playing the game, not much of a try-hard but still decent in the combat mechanics.
How she pulled you: You came home within 50 pulls! And you appeared again after another 10 pull! Ganyu was so SHOOKT and so distressed because oh goodness, what does she do? She doesn’t know anything much about you!
Will rewatch your three trailers to try and understand your skills better, ended up saving the soundtracks from them because that was such a nice trailer music! Tnbee gains a new follower!
Ganyu will take a while before she can properly play or build you up because she’s so busy with work, she only ever plays when she feels fully done with her work.
During her break she plays with your character while multi-tasking on eating, earphones plugged in and sight on the phone as she farms materials and artifacts for you.
The moment she gets more help from her player friends tho, holy shit, you just ended up being so OP. She had so many good artifacts and weapons for you because she didn’t know what they were for before.
She loves how you’re so easy to use and can easily solo the enemies and even the boss fights. A huge breather, because now Ganyu can cheese the battles that takes a while, to give her more time to focus on the storyline and lores.
Since Ganyu plays for the story and aesthetic, she’ll find you almost always in her team. Still very proud of her pull, she makes the best screenshots of your fights or in the best angle through exploration.
Treasures you so much she starts talking to her phone- “Ah, no, please don’t fall.” “There’s violetgrass up there, let’s try and get it”
Blushes everytime you produce a sound when climbing, doesn’t change you anyways tho
Hums to your trailer music while working, and if permitted, would have the song on repeat while she buries herself in work. She finds it really refreshing and the time she spends in work miraculously flies by fast when she gets lost in the sound.
At one point, when she was given a day-off or if the convention was on her free time, she attends to look for cosplayers of you and take a picture. No one rejects her because she’s so adorable and cute when asking shyly.
Had brought a decent amount of merchandise, preferably the functional/practical ones like a phone cover, mug or keychain. Also has an earphones clamp with your little chibi self as the holder.
When asked, she would shyly announce that she likes your character the most.
“Their character theme and music really soothes me during work, it feels nice to have them, and I have not once regretted ever pulling for them. They are the best.”

so today our librarian in charge of our ya & manga collections sent an email to some of the staff informing us that she needs to re-order a few copies of the bnha manga. one is missing & never returned, which happens pretty frequently, but she said that for the two others, a patron went in & physically cut out all the panels with “their favorite character.”
obviously defacing a library book for the sake of your waifu/husbando is funny enough as it is, but i had a hunch as to who this character was, so i emailed her back and was like “sorry to hear about the books—i’ll let patrons know they’re on order if they ask. also, just out of curiosity, this ‘favorite character’ wouldn’t happen to be bakugou, would it?” & she emailed me back & was like “yep, it was bakugou” & then things went from funny to downright hysterical
something about bakugou specifically inspires such a zealous devotion in his fans that they will straight up mutilate library materials in pursuit of him, despite the fact that we have, you know, printers & photocopiers at literally every library location available for patron use. bakugou stans must be stopped

haikyuu!! as genshin impact players
a/n: currently obsessed with genshin impact so i decided to merge it with my love for haikyuu!! this was honestly so much fun to write and i hope you guys like it !!
Hinata: he’s the one who always asks for help in the group chat when fighting bosses as well as the dragonspine quests. super thankful when you help him but you just have to be patient with him jumping and accidentally pressing ‘attack’ when gliding’
Kageyama: honestly thought that collecting all the anemoculi was the first objective so he went out and found EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM. loves to flex his stamina at hinata by jumping up cliffs
Tsukishima: RIP most of his characters are hydro users so he has to visit the oceanid twice every day all like 'hey, fucker. it's me again'. someone please give him fischl. hides the fact that he failed the gliding exams about twenty times
Yamaguchi: wanted xiao so bad he made 150 pcs. of almond tofu and a summoning circle in his room before wishing for him on top of wangshu inn. cried tears of joy when he got him
Ennoshita: super intellectual player. takes the time to calculate the stats on weapons, artifacts, and talents before enhancing them. likes using archers to spam long-distance attacks
Tanaka: in it for the WAIFUS. wants mihoyo to add a trade character feature so that he could trade his male characters and have an army of waifus. currently saving up primogems for hu tao
Noya: BENNET MAIN !! ceo of bennett supremacy basically and loves watching his ‘bouken da bouken!’ idle animation. adamantly believes that he should be a five-star character
Daichi: wasn’t that invested in playing until he got albedo as his first five-star character because he loves the guy so much. loves bringing him when he does co-op and when the other player thanks him for the ‘albedovators’
Sugawara: klee main because he loves how chaotic she is. like, he’ll literally use her to kill fish in the springvale lake and timmie’s birds. he’ll use his elemental burst for destroying the training dummies for ellin’s commission
Asahi: even though he has five-star characters, he still likes using the starter team because they feel like his family. explicitly uses amber and kaeya a lot just to prove the haters wrong
Oikawa: venti main because he relates to him on a spiritual level and actually cried during his story quest. also emotionally invested in the NPC quests and actually felt bad about not finding joel’s dad
Iwaizumi: has the WORST luck when it comes to gacha rolls. always gets a five-star on like, roll 80 and when he does, he always gets the non-banner one first. doesn’t know the diff between crit rate and crit damage and is too afraid to ask at this point
Hanamaki: fucking kills timmie's birds for FUN. also does livestreams of him walking from mondstadt to liyue or farming as many pieces of meat he can in a day (the most was 1126). calls the primo geovishap ‘rock daddy’
Matsukawa: believes in traveler supremacy and invests in leveling them up, no matter what anyone says about them being a support. ‘y’all are going to wish you leveled them up when traveler becomes the avatar’ he says
Ushijima: very much an explorer kind of guy and takes the time to forage everything he sees. also cooks a lot and has 288 sweet madame even though he doesn't really need it
Tendou: actually enjoys being in dragonspine because he likes the thrill of freezing to death and the aesthetics. farms so much frozen meat because he can. lets ushijima co-op in his world to farm stuff
Semi: used up his fragile resin early in the game and now that he's at ar40 he has Regrets. yells a lot when he plays but that’s whenever he accidentally presses ‘climb’ instead of attack
Shirabu: someone told him that sucrose shouldn't be used as a main and now he's doing that out of spite. actually likes his team comps to be full of supports for the #supportsupremacy
Goshiki: he has such a hard time with boss fights but he's too proud to ask for help. knowing that, his senpais just show up in his world and ask if they could farm there to help him out
Kuroo: collects husbandos and co-op's in other players' worlds while role-playing as that husbando. he's gotten very popular because of this and is known as ‘the legendary co-op player’
Kenma: an amazing player, as you’d expect. he got to ar40 in probs two weeks and started livestreaming his plays. an absolute king at clearing abyss levels and showing off those satisfying elemental reactions
Yaku: WHAAAAAALE. you can tell by the fact that he always has the battle pass weapons and so many primogems. definitely a collector who tries to get all playable characters
Lev: very chaotic player and accidentally walked all the way to liyue at ar10 while running away and dodging monsters. SOMEHOW managed to defeat boss childe without revival materials and by spamming noelle
Bokuto: has the best luck in gacha rolls, opposite to iwaizumi. he showed akaashi a pic of his first 10-wish roll (feat. qiqi, mona, and fischl) and was all ‘is this a good roll?’
Akaashi: great at building characters so he shares his knowledge by making videos on optimal character builds and team comps. explains things super well and everyone loves watching his stuff
Atsumu: likes to turn up the volume on his headphones and making lisa climb a really high cliff if you know what i mean. also desperately tried to roll for ganyu and spent all his primogems but got diluc instead
Osamu: likes to spam genshin fan pages with dumb theories like ‘joel’s dad is the missing cryo yaksha’ or ‘madame ping is going to be on the next character banner.’ has a soft spot for barbara though
Suna: he’s often falling off cliffs trying to farm violetgrass but he does it out of love for qiqi. shows off himself using qiqi as main dps when someone says she’s just a support because he can
Kita: his signature literally says ‘come to my world if you want to farm’. his map is full of landmarks for ascension materials and will even help you find them. in charge of bringing a healer when you guys fight bosses
Sakusa: loves doing photoshoots with his characters, especially capturing stills of their elemental bursts. his fave character is ningguang because of beautiful and photogenic she is (even has the yellow seelie to match her)

Anime Tag Game
I was tagged by @narcopharmacist! This is one of the longest tag games I’ve done lol but I had fun so thank you!
1. Last anime you watched?
Violet Evergarden
2. Last anime you binged watched?
Satsuriku no Tenshi
3. Recommend an anime and state your reason?
Bruhhhh watch Ballroom e Youkoso! From the title itself, it’s about ballroom dancing and it’s a really underrated sports anime imo. The body proportions can be weird but you’ll get used to them XD It’s got a solid story, likeable characters, and a gripping soundtrack by Yuki Hayashi!
Tumblr media
4. Anime you have not finished watching yet?
ALOT LMAO.
5. An anime you do NOT recommend and state your reason?
Citrus. Don’t let the decent art style and yuri fool you, it features pseudo-incest and it’s central to the story. That problematic aspect is supposed to amp up the drama but it gets boring real fast, it’s not worth it, honestly.
6. List your top 5 favourite anime?
Naruto
Ballroom e Youkoso
Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited
Watashi ga Motete Dousunda
Shingeki no Kyojin
7. Of your top 5 anime, list 2 of your favourite ships from each show?
Kakashi/Obito & Naruto/Sasuke (Naruto)
Tatara/Chinatsu & Tatara/Kiyoharu (Ballroom e Youkoso)
Daisuke/Suzue [BEFORE THE ANIME CONFIRMATION JKDSFHDSKJ. If they turn out related, then BROTP for life lol] & Haru/Ryo  (Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited)
Nanashino/Shinomiya & Igarashi/Kae (Watashi ga Motete Dousunda)
Eren/Levi & Armin/Jean (Shingeki no Kyojin)
8. Of your top 5 anime, list 1 ship that you do not like?
Naruto Uzumaki/Hinata Hyuga from Naruto. I don’t hate it, I just think it was really underdeveloped in the canon material, so I wasn’t exactly thrilled when their romance became the focus in the last Naruto movie instead of Team 7 or something :(
9. Of your top 5 anime, list 1 crack ship?
Uhhhh idk jdshkjhdjs.
10. Of your top 5 anime, list your favourite character from each show?
Obito Uchiha (Naruto)
Chinatsu Hiyama (Ballroom e Youkoso)
Ryo Hoshino (Fugou Keiji: Balance:Unlimited)
Hayato Shinomiya (Watashi ga Motete Dousunda)
Mikasa Ackerman (Shingeki no Kyojin)
11. List 3 of your husbando/waifu and what anime they are from?
Kakashi Hatake (Naruto)
Levi Ackerman (Shingeki no Kyojin)
Cattleya Baudelaire (Violet Evergarden)
12. Favourite anime genre?
Shounen.
13. Weirdest anime you have seen?
Pop Team Epic lololololol.
Tumblr media
14. Subbed or dubbed?
Subbed.

Top 10 Husbando
Thanks for tagging me! @lordbunshin @lemonicebar wanted to know my husbando  😉
I believe everyone here definitely have a crushed on 2D characters but it takes more than pretty face, great body, intelligent and super power to be the best husbando IRL or so called IkeDan*. Like, will they be there when we need their help? Will they make us a porridge when we sick? and stuffs...
*IkeDan = Ikemen Danna (イケメン旦那) = The hotties who possess husband material, recently popular word among Japanese women.
Personally I think it’s not fair for anime’s characters because otoge’s characters originally were created to be an ideal husbando. Plus all anime already finished, no more season 4-5-6 with a wedding or happy family story like otoge did. So i’ll go with 5 husbundo from anime fandom and 5 from otoge fandom.
P.S. Srsly, I had a hard time for choosing just 10 husbando from hundreds husbandos in my list.
Anime Husbando
5. Kuroba Kaito @ Magic Kaito KID
This IQ 400, playful and kind gentleman, full-time high school boy, part-time phantom thief is definitely a hero for both boys and girls in fandom. Well, he was born from Gosho Aoyama who wrote Detecive Conan after all, this character surely has a charmingly deep and various dimensions.
Kaito might be too young to be considered as husbando but with all of his good traits, he’d definitely grow up to be the best one. Besides, I love a sweet & thrill in love life 😉
Tumblr media
4. Kinomoto Tōya @ Cardcaptor Sakura
Touya-niichan is my first love in anime fandom since I was a kid and still have been in my heart until now. Thanks to Clear Card Arc, I have a chance to see him in college version and more striking handsome due to advanced CG technology in anime industry.
He is cool, kind, athletic and very popular with the girls even he is a bit loner who has only Yukito as a BFF. He did many jobs so that he can pay for college on his own, despite his father is a college professor who could easily pay for his tuition, very impressive responsibility as a mere high school boy.
He is also good at cooking and helps with house work, yeah husband material. Even he’s always tease his little sister Sakura but that nothing to do with me ;p Well, his caring for family is the best clue for being a potential future husband and father.
Tumblr media
3. Karasuma Tadaomi @ Assassination Classroom (VA Sugita Tomokazu 😍)
Who wouldn’t fall for this super cool badass fighter? He’s an elite agent sent from Japan's Ministry of Defense to supervise Koro-sensei.
Karasuma is a strict but kind man, though he keeps a distance between himself and the students due to his status as an agent and his own professionalism. He is also extremely dense when it comes to love, but isn't so oblivious that he doesn't figure it out eventually. Even though he comes off as distant, he's not completely devoid of emotion and seems to be able to express happiness very rarely; most notably, during violent situations.
Judging from how he taught his students as the physical education teacher in Class 3-E, he must be a strict dad who raise his kids to be a strong fighter both physically and mentally. He is a perfect husbando for waifu who need someone to keep her on her toes. His love life is hilarious and interesting bc his waifu is a b*tch. Well, if you watch this anime you’d know what i mean 😉 Hush hush... I bet he is definitely a wild beast on bed, fu fu 😉
P.S. Let me clear this, I’m not that b*tch but I still need him bc it’s thrill for having such a cool & elite agent as a husbando.
Tumblr media
2. Yanagi Kazuma @ Kaze no Stigma (VA Ono Daisuke 😍)
Due to his family circumstance and ex-lover’s tragedy, he has become too powerful and overprotective in an effort to be able to protect those important to him and not to lose them again. Even Kazuma shows his arrogance and egotistic side most of the time, he'll protect people who are naturally weak and have no chance of becoming stronger.
He is a snarky sarcastic and anti-social, rarely interacts with others unless business is involved. But he’s very caring and protect his beloved Ayano and his little brother Ren. He can do house chores and cooking. When he fell in love he’ll be unbelievably sweet and gentle yet still be a big tease making Ayano (and me) doki doki occasionally; e.g. licking a splashed wine on her cheek saying it’s a waste if he don’t drink it, kissing her hair when he confess to her. When he kissed her neck and said “You better get ready because I’m selfish and have a strong desire” I was melted ☺️☺️☺️
P.S. When I finished watching this anime and found out season 2 never come bc the writer had died since 2009 I cried like my own relative died 😭😭
Tumblr media
1. Usui Takumi @ Kaichou wa Maid-sama (VA Okamoto Nobuhiko 😍)
You couldn’t count yourself an 2D otaku in Shoujou-Otome line if you don’t know him, he is a LEGENDARY HUSBANDO for Shoujou manga and anime.
He is everything as an ideal husbando for me, looks, brain and talent at everything. Playful but not wishy-washy. Flirt but not creepy. Devoted but not possessed. Helped but not spoiled. These traits also very like Masamune Ikesen too. Despite having dark past about their own families, Usui didn’t strong and friendly as Masamune, well, he’s just a normal high school boy after all 😉
But in manga, he eventually grown up to be a great doctor and also an amazing husbando who let his waifu living apart for a sake of her dream job.... such a board-mind and patient husbando 😊
Tumblr media
Otoge Husbando
5. Kirishima Kaoru @ Our 2 Bedrooms Story by Voltage
This aloof, cool, talent editor is MC coworker who emit an aura of “leave me alone” but actually kind & gentle and very cuddle when you’re in relationship like Ieyasu but he’s a straightforward type and isn’t sarcastic or snarky at all.
His stories weren’t exciting or twist like the others but very real and relax.. his coolly cuteness and kindness somehow made me calm, like laying in a corridor under warm sunshine after the battles with all tough guys 😆
Now it’s Wedding Season already and I’m the most lucky bride in the world😊
Tumblr media
4. Soryu Oh @ Kissed by the Baddest Bidders by Voltage
Head of Hong Kong’s Mafia who scared everyone away with his scary & cold  vibe but love omrice 😆 Hate women bc they’re reek of perfume and only chase after the rich. Anyway he is a gentleman and the only bidder who treat MC as a human being and protected her from any harms.
When you captivated his heart, he’d turned to be a doting BF who protect you with his life. Even he’s a man with a few word but his expression for love is so deep and intense. On bed? also a sexy beast 😆😆 A special story “Happy Family with Him” also show how wonderful he was as a father.
Now we’ve married and live a happily in NY season 5th already 😊
Tumblr media
3. Okochi Minato @ Our 2 Bedrooms Story by Voltage
An ace senior editor of a big shot publisher who is arrogant, big tease and tsundere but his sexy & sweet side made me melt. He is such an sharp-tongue alfa-dog who always mocked MC as a Pomeranian but bickering with him is so much fun. Even he is a super self-confident but he secretly worked out bc he wanted to impress MC with his well toned body when they xxx ☺️ yeah... he’s a bit... horny sexy beast ☺️😆
Even he’s hopeless around the house to the point he could literally explode the kitchen but he tried hard to cook for his beloved fiancée by joining cooking lessons. He always be there to help MC for both work and personal life and also let MC helped him occasionally.
Now it’s Wedding Season 💒 already and I’m so happy with him 😊
Tumblr media
2. Oda Nobunaga @ Ikemen Sengoku by Cybrid (VA Sugita Tomokazu 😍)
The tyrant Demon King and a dutiful BF who has an unbearable cute side I couldn’t resist. He called emergency war room to consult how to improve his GF’s mood after 3 days Silence Treat 😆 He was jealous of his own bear avatar 😊 He love Kompeito and secretly(?) steal it from his own kitchen every night😆, etc. So damn sexy and alluring, got me every event, couldn’t keep calm around him. I’ve a bunch of arrogant, intelligent, rich and powerful husbando but no one is as charming as him... srsly.
He’s sweet and kind...when he want to be 😆 An open-mind husbando who is enthusiasm  to learn new things. Also such a dutiful dad who’d read a bedtime stories for his kids every night 😊
Tumblr media
1. Date Masamune @ Ikemen Sengoku by Cybrid (VA Katou Kazuki 😍)
Since I played his routes both Dramatic and Romantic in row on last X’mas, I fell hard for this playful dragon and he has been my no.1 since then. Who could refuse he possess a super husband material? Here, here here and here.

There's a serious scope issue that comes into play when you have to make your entire cast waifu material. Or act like you have a fleshed out cast instead of a veneer over waifu/husbando material.
Is every character from classic Fe that has supports or builds off supports from a previous game the most fleshed out characters in the world? No. Did they need to be? No they didn't. If characters weren't super important to the overall plot at hand they comfortably took a back seat to be relevant in their own supports. If you wanted to learn more about them or were curious what they had to say with another character you could. And supports then serve (generally) a variety of functions besides defining characterization (or really character type as it's generally reduced to now). Supports add to the world that the game takes place in by contributing lore (sometimes wink nodding at gameplay elements, or maybe commentary on how magic works, religion, spirits, etc.), continent history, personal history (especially made interesting when they connect with a character you wouldn't expect or to parts of the story), philosophical insights, or supplementary plot details. No character whose envisioned purpose is relatively minnor ever has to overstay their welcome. And most of all what made this system work is that it provides little insights on people from many walks of life. It makes the world feel more lived in because of the variety of perspectives the system offers.
Of course there are always duds. I think fe6 had quite a few (having the most supports of any game before awakening) and there's even a couple in tellius. But I think that only shows that when you don't reign in the amount of supports written, you only end up with a greater ratio of duds to gems.

Is Magi Manga Worth The Read? https://animeride.com/blogs/6401/is-magi-manga-worth-the-read/ #Alibaba, #Dijjins, #Magi, #MagicAnime, #OppaiChan, #Sinbad
New Post has been published on https://animeride.com/blogs/6401/is-magi-manga-worth-the-read/
Is Magi Manga Worth The Read?
Magi is an anime and manga that revolves around a time where magicians existed. In a world full of dungeons and magic vessels created by magis who will someday choose their kings. Originally only three magi exist in the world until Aladdin is sent to Solomon’s world as the fourth Magi. Fighting alongside many others and discovering the world for himself as being locked in the sacred palace most of his life. He meets many other metal users, magicians and magi. He expands his knowledge on the world that Solomon created and tries to prevent a disaster from happening with his king vessel Alibaba.
Many others need to read this manga and share the magnificent art of Magi. I was recommended this manga by an old friend and didn’t read it until after a while. At first I thought I wouldn’t like it because of the Magic and such, but it’s actually beautiful and has good morals. There are many reasons to read this manga as it is a little lengthy, but amazing read. Especially if you love the shounen genre and love reading manga then this is good for you! Except I can’t state my opinion on the anime, but I could suggest the manga is good. A mix of unique characters and an amazing plot line you could get sucked into. It’s never-ending imagination when reading Magi and not to mention the characters are very pleasing to look at. They’re all waifu and husband material.

Comedy was truly portrayed in the manga. It didn’t seem forced or like they were trying to hard to be funny. There are many splendid caps that will make you laugh so hard. It’s very good comedy even in the most unexpected moments. If I’m being honest it’s one of a kind and a relatable kind of humor as it’s not to an extent where it’s unrealistic as most of it is playful banter or teasing between the characters. It’s just something you could laugh so easy along to no matter how you feel. Truly heartwarming especially the face reactions were what really got me as some of them were so relatable! For me it’s hard to find a good manga that portrays comedy so easily. Usually it seems forced or like they’re trying to hard, but in Magi it’s easy to laugh. I can’t quite explain the comedy, but it’s amazing how it’s portrayed. It had the right amount of comedy in the manga. Comedy is hard to portray as good as they did it. I can’t say how much it truly gave me a good laugh every once in a while. My favorite scene was when Sinbad came back and found Alibaba & Aladdin all fat from eating the food. Afterwards he made them exercise to lose the fat. It made me laugh so much how Aladdin had big bewbs and didn’t lost the weight until he used his magic unlike Alibaba who had to run. The comedy is one of the reasons you should read the manga, if you want/need a good laugh.
a e s t h e t i c   a r t
The art is beautiful as it’s one of my favorite art in manga I’ve seen before. It’s really beautiful how the characters are shown and they show a lot of emotion despite it just being one single panel. They really come to life and express the mood they try to set for that specific arc. It’s truly one of a kind and from the beginning it’s what drew me the most to the manga. The beautiful art that showed everything and made the manga come to life. It was like it was almost real to me at least. As shown with the different designs for each specific character or species. They made each one unique with a different characteristics that go all so well together. Especially with the different animals and djinns he designed which was amazing as I couldn’t stop looking at those details portrayed by the full djinn equip. Or the magis and king vessels they have. It must’ve taken so much creativity to come up with all those different designs which was refreshing as they were all the same yet so different. Usually I’ll never pay attention to the art, but Magi’s art truly caught my attention. It was one of a kind as I couldn’t seem to compare it to anyone else’s art. In my opinion, you will never find such a well detailed art like shown in the Magi manga. It’s very eye-catching and not too flashy, but it’s just enough to show off everything and make certain things pop out more than others. Also they were very attractive that I couldn’t decide who was my new husbando.
U n i q u e  C h a r a c t e r s
Now apart from the character design they have amazing unique characters. Each character had their own characteristics and struggle it made it seem like all of them had so much potential for so much growth in the manga. Despite most of them being supporting characters it was like they were the main characters which was really amazing as not one character didn’t have a little but if background throughout the manga. They all had so much growth development and seemed so realistic and relatable. They faced their own struggles as in Magi they never made it seem like they could solve their problems in a snap. In Magi the characters were realistic and struggled just as much as we do which had me relating to some of the characters in so many levels. Each King Vessel, Emperor or Empress, Magician, or Magi faced struggles no matter the power they held. They each had their own story and none of them irritated me like in most manga there is always that one character you would wish would hold their own self up or a useless character. Each character contributed to the plot in their own way which had me hooked. You just fall in love with them at first glance loving the way they socialize and interact with other characters. They have a lot of growth development for each character whether they be a minor or major character.
F i n a l  T h o u g h t s
Now I just have to watch the anime so I’m able to see if they portray the anime just as good as the manga. Honestly it looks appealing and I really fell in love with the manga so I’m hoping the anime reaches my expectations or even exceeds them. I would suggest reading the manga to anyone that enjoys shounen as you will fall into the magi fandom.

Title Blaster Master Zero 2 Developer Inti Creates Publisher Inti Creates Release Date March 20th, 2019 Genre Action, Platformer Platform Nintendo Switch Age Rating E for Everyone – Mild Fantasy Violence, Mild Language Official Website
While I went into Blaster Master Zero unfamiliar with the source material, I went into Blaster Master Zero 2 a fan. To be fair, I was already a fan of other Inti Creates games, but now I stand firmly in the fanboy camp for this reimagining (remake doesn’t do it justice) of a classic series. I’m also glad that I managed to finally get the True Ending in BMZ, since the plot of the sequel strongly follows that chain of events. Without going too deeply into spoiler territory, after the events of the first game, Eve has found herself infected by the mutant they finally defeated. As such, Jason has set off with her to find a cure, recalibrating the Sophia into the Gaia-Sophia and making it space-worthy in the process. Your goal is to find a way to Eve’s home planet and hold her infection at bay along the way. The real question though, is whether Blaster Master Zero 2 blasted the first into space dust, or whether it was pale reflection of the first game.

As you land on the first planet in the game, one important new mechanic is introduced. First and most importantly, when Jason retrofitted the Sophia to make it able to navigate and withstand the rigors of space travel, he also gave it a new way to replenish SP. In the first game, SP would gradually recover over time, or you could speed the process up by finding recovery items. In Blaster Master Zero 2, there’s a much more interesting and far more dynamic way to replenish SP. Essentially, your tank is capable of transmuting kinetic energy into SP, which is a fancy way of saying crashing into things recovers your energy. There are two primary ways this occurs. The safest way is to find a tall vertical drop, and leap down onto a flat surface. Depending on the height, you’ll either recover a little bit or a ton of your SP, but either way you won’t take damage. The other significantly more dangerous way to recover SP is by taking damage from foes. Here’s the catch. If your SP is reduced to zero, you’ll temporarily be unable to use any of your powerful weapons, techniques or sub weapons until the SP meter fills back up. Until then, you’ll just be able to fire small blasts that do minimal damage. So it’s in your best interest to conserve SP. At first I wasn’t a fan of this new mechanic, but it grew on me the more I played. I liked the risk/reward element of it, and found it made gameplay more aggressive.

Another new mechanic I rather appreciated was the space travel. While the first game was a linear exploration of a series of subterranean lairs, this game is set in the void of space. As a result, levels are split into a scattering of planetoids and alien ships. Better yet, as you explore stages, you’ll uncover maps that unlock more planetoids, giving more places to explore and items to find. It’s a very fun loop, and while technically it’s still linear, it feels anything but. As you explore the alphabetically designated sectors, you’ll also have to find ways to unlock wormholes to others. Sometimes you’ll find a planet that’s just a short jaunt, while others are devious trap planets and some even house bosses. (The bosses in this game are particularly tremendous and challenging.) In other words, there’s a ton of stuff to do in the game, and it’s mostly up to you how you explore. I found this a refreshing change from the first game, even though I didn’t mind the linearity there.

I also need to cover a mechanic that’s only for the top down sections: the counter. When you see a targeting reticule appear on any enemy, you can quickly respond and initiate a powerful counter attack. The initial one hits from a distance, but there’s others, such as one that only hits foes right near you. While I found the counter mechanic interesting, and it definitely helped make some fights more manageable, I have a complaint. Namely, the game never explains how to use it as you progress. Instead, you have to read an illustrated diagram in the pause menu. While that’s all good and well, I would have preferred the game just giving me a little nudge in the right direction. Even after I figured out how to counter, I wasn’t 100% sure I was doing it right. This mostly came from the fact that some foes can only counter one attack at a time, while others let you do a flurry of counters in response to attacks. The only advice I’d give you is pay attention to each and every foe’s pattern, because that’s the only way to learn.

As for how the rest of the game controls, it’s both very similar and very different from Blaster Master Zero. Your tank still has basic attacks, sub weapons and techniques that let you navigate better. It’s just a different assortment of them. Gone is the ability to cling to walls or dive in aquatic realms (thank goodness). In place of those, you get some quirky new techniques, such as a wall jump (Yes it sounds weird, and yet it works.) and new sub weapons such as a drill or a reflector that bounces things upwards. Jason’s rifle options are also new, and they feel a bit more tactical than before. Now you have a shot that goes through obstacles, a homing shot, another setting that lets you absorb bullets and more. Most noteworthy is the full-powered option, which was a completely overpowered attack in the first game, but is a more balanced wide shot this time around. As a result, I ended up mostly using the base shot and the Stinger, since shooting through walls is always helpful.

Now that we’ve covered the new mechanics and gameplay, it’s time to discuss another huge new element: more characters! While the first game only had Jason, Eve and Fred, this one has a bunch of new faces. Better yet, they are all Metal Attacker pilots, complete with support droids and their own tanks. I won’t spoil anything, other than to say that they will jump to the wrong conclusion when you first meet, which provides some of the most entertaining fights in the game. They all have very different and eclectic personalities, from a gruff old man to a sexy, trash talking plant girl. Whether you prefer waifus or husbandos, you’ll be set. They all bring a wonderful new tone to the series, and I fervently hope they show up either as playable DLC characters or perhaps headline their own adventures. They’re that good.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
It might be hard to tell the difference between the two games from a distance, so let me share some of the contrast. While the first game was one of adventure and mystery, this one has a darker, more somber tone to it. That’s even reflected in the music, which has more discordant and macabre notes. That’s not to say it’s all dark, since there are fun little nods to edgy games, such as how Jason now is rocking a tattered cape (presumably to look cooler for Eve). And as I implied above, the new characters also add a lot of great energy to the proceedings. Visually, the game is fantastic, and even manages to top the first. There’s a ton of complexity and color in all the artwork, and it all has that trademark Inti Creates style. That goes double for the wonderful cut scenes, of which there are a shitload. Musically, the game is also fantastic. Like I said above, the dark and edgy notes permeate the music, but there’s also elements of mystery and adventure to be found. Put together, it’s a beautiful package that shows off the best retro is capable of.
Fear not, death-defying ladder tricks are still in Blaster Master Zero 2.
Mechanically, this game manages to improve upon many of the elements from the first game, while continuing what it did right. Like the first game, this one has tight controls that are super intuitive once you get the hang of them. I appreciated little assists such as holding the shoulder button to drop down the sub weapons and techniques, or how if you reach a save point without full health and then die afterwards, you’ll return there with full health. Also appreciated is how whenever you reach the end of any dungeon, your buddy Fred will make a wormhole to warp you out. Even better, they finally fixed the inverted controls, so A selects things and B goes back. Though it wasn’t a huge deal, the way they were reversed in the original irked me. I also really enjoyed how the HD Rumble was incorporated here. While it was occasionally irritating in the first game, here it was used more cleverly to exaggerate the sensation of take off as the Gaia-Sophia blasts off into space. But now that I’ve gushed about all that I enjoyed, I need to balance things out a little.
This slideshow requires JavaScript.
While most of the game is a blast, there are a couple small irritations. First was what I mentioned earlier about the counter mechanic. Likewise, there is another mechanic that goes completely unexplained, and though you rarely need it, I found it a requisite for one puzzle. Namely, you can apparently use the Sophia Summon mechanic to bring your tank to you when you’re separated from it and sitting on a save point. Again, I only discovered that by accident while on the pause menu. And another very minor point is that the true final boss felt slightly less epic to me than the one in Blaster Master Zero. But to be fair, the boss just before that is a blockbuster fight that really makes you think. And considering how much I enjoyed the last section of the game overall, it’s of little consequence.
Gaia-Sophia IN SPACE!!!
Considered as a whole, Blaster Master Zero 2 is another fantastic offering from Inti Creates. It did enough to differentiate itself from the first adventure while innovating in mostly successful new directions. Furthermore, I really grew to love the characters in the game, both old and new. If Eve wasn’t a top tier waifu before, just wait until you get the True Ending. My only real complaints were how a couple elements weren’t clearly explained and how beating the game with the best ending didn’t seem to unlock anything. Given how beating the first unlocked New Game+ and other modes, this was a bit of a letdown. But even taking that into consideration, I can wholeheartedly recommend this game. At $9.99, I got more than nine hours of gameplay from it. Blaster Master Zero 2 is a hell of a steal for any fan of retro, Inti Creates or just a Switch owner looking for a system exclusive. Now to bide my time and hope we get some DLC with some new MA pilots in the near future!

Looking More In Depth at a Gatcha Game:  Fate Grand Order
I've been playing a lot of Fate Grand Order (a gatcha game based on the Fate anime series) in the past few months.  Gatcha - the term - is sort of an onomatopoeia based on a Japanese vending machines.  It basically means that you'll be gambling for the characters you get in the game (either through free tickets or by spending money).  But I'll get more into that later.  For the casual player, this is a nice free game you can waste a few minutes on while on the bus or hanging out.
I started playing this game for several reasons.  For one, I'm really into the Fate anime series (which were based on visual novel games).  Yeah; it's not a perfect anime series, but it got it's hooks into me from the concept (of heroic spirits joining adolescent wizards - coming back to life to battle for the Holy Grail so they can fulfill what they weren't able to in life).  There's a lot of fan service and lore in the anime and that comes through into the game.  I also like the Type-Moon art style (although I do agree that all the characters look the same in the face).
The mobile app is a free to play (freemium) game (like most of these are) where you can just play normally without spending any money (there's a catch though of course).  You only get so many points to expend daily (they recharge) and must purchase additional points (action points).  On top of that - while you do get free characters (servants) in the form of free daily summons (which include other types of enhancement cards), these characters are limited in power level compared to those requiring money to gamble for.  That being said, the story (chapters release nearly every month) is all there for all players and the game is quite generous with how it does special holiday events.  The events usually give away cool and useful servants (more powerful than those of the daily summons).  And if you just play the events casually you will gradually acquire the same gems that you can purchase to gamble for characters (so people that refuse to spend money on the game hoard these up and use them during special events).
The game (like the original games) is nearly all combat (in the form of action cards you play on your turn) gameplay-wise and the dialog options (visual novel style) aren't really choose-your-own adventure, but instead kind of just let you get an interesting conversation (the end result is already set).  There's a lot of fan service in this game and so a lot of people just write it off as a waifu/husbando simulator.  That's true to an extent (you can see their lore unfold and get dialog as you spend time playing them), but I honestly do enjoy the tactics in the game as well.  Combat nuances are presented in a multitude of ways: from the order of your cards (or matching colors), to the servants in your front line, to the timing of the skills, selection of first enemy, etc etc.  Despite it seeming like a simple game, it's actually got a decent amount of complexity built into it (to keep you playing of course).  And later on the bosses have a huge amount of HP and crazy powerful attacks (so you’re forced to either dispatch them early or survive the onslaught).
Games like FGO do have their grind sessions.  In this game, you need to acquire materials to level up your servants and their skills.  You also need game points in addition to these materials.  This means that you'll be spending a lot of time visiting the same locations with certain enemies (drops) over and over as you progress your favorite servants.  If you're trying to get a character leveled up in preparation for a special event, you will be tempted to spend money to get more action points for more play time.  Otherwise, you'll just casually use your daily points while watching a TV show.  My favorite time to play is either on a treadmill or walking where I don't need to watch in front of me (it makes a few miles walk go by really fast).
So on to the gambling aspect to the game.  Yes this game is really addicting and constantly tempts you to spend money to roll for new servants or craft essenses to equip them with.  Now, before we get into it, you do get 10 free summons daily, but these are capped at 3-star (common) cards (some of which are actually really good staples).  Right now in the US (for the paid roll) you will need 3 saint quartz to get one card (about $2-3 at the worst exchange rate).  But if you get 10 cards at a time you're guaranteed at least one high level card (so that's $30).  You can buy about 160 saint quartz for $80 (so that's a lot better rate of exchange).  The high-rarity (5-star) servants are about a 1% drop (and that's just for one random five-star servant.. not the one you might want).  So that means if you're rolling for a particular rare character, you can be spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars.  And there's no marketplace or exchange for servants, so it's all on you to randomly get them.  There are banners (times) where particular servants are "rate-up" - meaning that if you get that 1% 5-star servant, there's a higher probability that it'll be the servant in the banner.  But it's still a very slim chance that you'll get that far unless you spend a lot of money.  That's just the way it is.  So if you are prone to gambling addition, I'd warn to you stay away.
The way I see this gambling issue; it's the same as M:TG or other collectible games (boxed AD&D miniatures) where you buy game pieces online or physically.  If you get back the enjoyment and entertainment time for your investment, it's money well spent.  There is - of course - the opportunity for you to spend too much, so you must weigh that against your financial constraints.  You must also understand that this is an online game with no guarantee.  While for Fate Grand Order - based on it's run in Japan - we have another two years of content for the game, it will eventually come to and end and all that money you spend will basically be for nothing.
While the game is gambling-centric (assuming you really want particular characters), there is enough substance and it can be really fun for a casual player that has no intention of spending money.  And there are a lot of those people out there to be sure.  I actually like that the game supports all tiers of play (with the free servants helping you progress through the story).  And besides offering free characters, the story being free, and the game giving you free stuff just for playing, the game also lets you borrow from other players.  So if you don't have the fancy/powerful character you wanted to try (say before rolling for your own) you totally can.  You get one support servant added to every battle (and you get an interface letting you pick categorized servants from friends or strangers, allowing a sort by different stats/levels).
Now.. unless you're in-game friends with people (allowed on both sides), you're not able to use the flashy noble phantasm attack of the support, but people will often add you as a friend (you can request it once the battle is over).  Also, both players get card-summon points for the battle.  This is really the only interaction with other players too.  There's no chat that I could see.  So this feels very much like a single-player game with sort of a leader board (in which characters you offer up for other to use).  So it lacks the social/communal aspect that most MMOs have.  That’s actually fine by me - since I’m able to fit it to my schedule more appropriately.
