ADA members ranked based on my headcanons about how often and sincerely they would call Fukuzawa ‘dad’
(An incomplete list because I’m only doing my faves)
1. Ranpo:
All the time
That is the only thing he will ever refer to Fukuzawa as
Ranpo identified Fukuzawa as best-dad-material the day they met so it’s always with complete sincerity
He just started calling Fukuzawa dad one day and never went back
He doesn’t really care if other people are nearby and hear him call Fukuzawa dad. He’ll do it anyways
After all, everyone needs to know that Fukuzawa is HIS dad.
2. Yosano:
She doesn’t say it as often as Ranpo but it’s still pretty often
Sometimes she’ll only ever say it if she wants something and she needs that emotional manipulation but most of the time it’s sincere
She might not say it if they’re at an official event but any other time she’ll do it
She probably started calling Fukuzawa dad after she heard Ranpo call him that so often
And then calling him that was basically a constant for her from then on
3. Kunikida:
He is VERY PROFESSIONAL and he CAN NOT be caught calling his boss “dad” during work hours
(Or at least that’s what he tells himself)
After all, what if people think it’s nepotism?!?!
(Literally no one would think that)
If something’s not during work and they’re just hanging out or something, he’d definitely call Fukuzawa dad then.
Since he doesn’t say it that often, anytime he does is with COMPLETE sincerity (he’d never joke about it. Never.)
Ranpo and Yosano probably got him to admit that he saw Fukuzawa as a father figure at one point and things just spiraled from there until he was actually calling Fukuzawa dad
4. Dazai:
He’d only say it sarcastically
Yet he says it sarcastically way too much for it to be sarcastic anymore
But if anyone points that out, he’ll just say dad again with even more sarcasm (which means he’s saying it more often, but susssshhhh)
He tells people he’s only doing it sarcastically because Ranpo, Yosano, and even Kunikida say it
However
Deep down
He really does think of Fukuzawa as a dad
(But you didn’t hear that from me)
(Bonus) Fukuzawa:
He never ever calls himself a dad
(He’d never admit it, but he actually thinks of everyone in the ADA as his children)
Everyone tried to get him to say it at one point (they even would have accepted a sarcastic or deadpanned reply), but he refused
Still, he accepted and still owns four cups with variations of “world's greatest dad” on it
(And he uses them almost daily)
When Ranpo first called him dad, he was a little bit hesitant and maybe would have even not acknowledge Ranpo if he had addressed him as dad at first (as a why to try and deter him)
However Ranpo did not give up so Fukuzawa was forced to accept that he was Ranpo’s dad from then on (not that he’d admit it)
He might not have shown it at the moment, but he was actually very touched when Yosano first called him dad
He respects Kunida’s decision about not calling him dad during work, but he’s secretly very happy when ever Kunikida actually calls him it (even if it’s only outside of work)
He knows that Dazai somewhat means it when he calls him dad. Dazai knows that Fukuzawa knows. They just never acknowledge it and Dazai continues to call Fukuzawa dad ‘sarcastically’

just remembered a fic on AO3 (or more likely LJ because it had that distinct late 00's experimental vibe) that appeared double-spaced oddly, in that some paragraphs would be spaced normally and others would have double or even triple spaces in between. it was about one half of the otp getting over the other's death (or coma, can't remember which), so all the comments were about how poignant the use of visual spacing was as a means to convey all the emotional holes in the character's life.
and then the author replied like... *giggle* guys it's NOT double spaced. try selecting the whole text
and we were all like "no WAY"
but we selected the text, and yes!!!
the "holes" in the story? they were actually lines and actions from the dead/coma character's ghost, rendered invisible to the eye by the simple trick of coloring the text the exact same as the background, revealed by nothing more than a click and a drag of the mouse
a story about the profound loneliness of losing your the partner of your life and having to make do without them, without anything to fill the holes they'd left behind, suddenly became a story about the profound helplessness of seeing someone you love suffer from your absence while you are right there, unable to do anything about it, unable to communicate that you love them enough to suffer unseen and unheard with them, just to keep them company they'll never know about
it was then that I truly realized how *superior* the digital medium is to plain printed paper, how the medium and the format can add to a story.
I think about that fic about once a year. I wish I could find it again

ADA team bonding headcanons!
They host team bonding events every other week
They are very chaotic
But there is lots of Bonding™ that happens at them!!
They alternate between teams and every person for themselves games
Teams are randomized each time
(Or at least that’s what they like to think. Somehow Ranpo and Fukuzawa are always on the same team. This is absolutely not because Ranpo is rigging the randomization system. Again. Absolutely not that reason)
They also rotate between the people who are in charge of choosing the games
Dazai is not included in the rotation. He was banned when he picked a horrible team bonding game. (He had picked Monopoly. The building was almost burned down)
Ranpo is also not in the rotation. The games he picks are always way too hard and he’s the only one who ever wins. (He purposely picked ones that he could win)
Yosano is also not included in the rotation of people who pick the activity. She once had them dissect a frog. Great for classroom lessons, not so great for the ADA members who (despite being very used to dead human bodies) either a) cried, b) fainted, a) mourned the loss of the frog’s life (similar to cried but they also took the extra step of making a memorial), or d) laughed and cackled madly while they dissected the frog with way too much enthusiasm
Atsushi is banned from choosing the activity. He brings down the mood by talking about his tragic past and all of the ‘games’ that he played at the orphanage (just how other people bullied him). It’s not his fault, it’s just that’s How He Is.
Kenji is banned because he always brought a cow, pig, and/or other farm animal for the game. It was fine at first, but then the food cost for them was getting way too high
Kyouka is banned from picking the game. She had picked games other people had asked her to. (other people = Dazai, Ranpo, Yosano)
In the end, this leaves only Fukuzawa and Kunikida in the rotation
Everyone always complains about team bonding, but they end up enjoying themselves when it actually happens
And they all get closer and Bond™ during them!

thank you so much for asking /gen almost teared up
but yes, i am still alive! i stopped posting and updating because i started uni and things got very hectic for me-- aside from that, i sort of fell out of the dream smp fandom, and considering that was all i posted, it didn't feel like i had much to contribute anyways
after a while, i started feeling like i was letting people down by not updating, which put a lot of stress on me, which made me have trouble writing, and it turned into a cycle. i write for fun, which makes things hard when it isn't fun to write. eventually i called it quits and stopped thinking about the account.
but now that im on break i've been thinking about posting again. im more into hermitcraft and other fandoms now, so i might post some hermitcraft stuff i've written?
sorry for the rambling if that wasn't what you wanted lol. TLDR: i'm alive and well and took a very long spontaneous mental health hiatus. might start posting again soon?

I keep imagining what it'd be like to work on a Minotaur Ranch.
