nine hours later, and ellie was a mess.
you had given her permission to come over and return your bra – hell you had her jumping for fucking joy when she saw that message.
but now she had to actually talk to you, and what the hell was she supposed to say? that she was sorry? that she 'couldn't sort out her feelings?' all of which felt wrong (maybe they only felt wrong because she was staring at herself in the mirror while repeating them for three hours... who knows).
but ellie had found herself with a bouquet of your favorite flowers in hand and a plan.
a plan to win you back.
she was going to apologize, let you scream at her, and hopefully let her explain, all in the two minutes you had gratefully gifted her.
so, when she rang the doorbell to your apartment after hiking the six story stairs, she found herself staring at her old, beaten up converse. stars and hearts you had drawn all along the sides of the soles almost mocked her.
then you opened the door, and ellie couldn't look up.
useless apologies started spilling from her mouth, panicked words that meant nothing. a collection of "i'm sorry” s and a series of "please let me explain" came pouring out, that was until she grew the gall to look up at you and take you in.
her heart stopped when she did, so did her words.
you looked tired. clearly old yet comfortable clothes adorned your body, you had your arms over your stomach but they weren't crossed, you weren't mad, you could never be mad at ellie, no matter how badly you wanted to be especially in this moment.
words rushed through her head but never made it out her mouth, you were... exhausted. and she caused it, she caused all this pain you were going through.
“oh…” she softly whispered, her stance faltering at the sight of you, not because you looked like how you did but because she was so mad at herself.
you sigh, you had made no effort to adjust your appearance or put makeup on. you told yourself it was because you had no energy to, but in reality, you wanted to show ellie how you were hurting, that she had caused this, that something fun and sweet had gone sour and at your own expense.
“ellie, i know i look….” you remove your arms from your stomach and signal to yourself shamefully, tears almost springing from your sunken eyes at the regret you feel for not even trying to fix yourself up, “ but can i please just have my bra back?” you’ve changed your position once again so that you’re leaning up against the doorframe of your apartment, gray sleeves up by your knuckles.
“no! no no no not at all you look… pretty. really pretty.” she breathes out hurriedly, your cheeks heat up before you spot the bouquet, and that's what makes the tears spill. because why was she here? she had never described you as pretty before, only hot or sexy, so why is she here apologising and calling you pretty if she doesnt just want a quick fuck by validating you?
tears now evidently filled your eyes, ellie’s kind smile had now turned into one of worry and concern when she saw the tears threatening to spill from your tired eyes, moving forward to embrace you, but she hesitated. will it only make things worse for you? feeling her again?
“can- can i touch you?” she asks gently, nerves shaking at the chance of you pushing her away for good, telling her she can keep the bra and slamming the door shut in her face.
instead, you silently shake your head yes and grant her permission to embrace you, it was a stupid idea, really, because everything you felt, all the times she had touched you that you had so desperately been trying to shut out came flooding back and it took everything in you not to sob, the subtle stream of tears gliding down your cheeks was worse enough. you avoided her sorrowful eyes, you didn't want her to feel sorry for you, you just wanted her.
ellie lets go of you, she’s still standing at the doorway, converse planted firmly on your ‘welcome!’ doormat, she delicately reaches to hold your cheeks and force your wandering eyes to look into her own, staring for a second, memorizing your face just in case before looping an arm around your shoulders and guiding you inside, closing the door behind the two of you with her foot, not looking back once.
you can feel the flowers gently brush against your shoulder as she never put them in her other hand, but the feeling of them is oddly comforting. you're not sure why exactly it’s comforting, but you do however manage to notice they're your favorite.
ellie guides you over to a kitchen counter, sitting you up on it and standing right in between your open spread legs, placing the array of flowers opposite to the two of you. you bury your head in your hands, wanting to disappear from this moment and never return.
“hey…” she gently prys your hands away from your head, and you immediately look up to contain tears, trying your hardest nor to hit the cabinets. “i'm sorry for just welcoming myself in, i assumed you didn't want the neighbors to see you…” the auburn haired girl uneasily babbles, and the tears slow down. you sniffle, looking down at the girl who can’t seem to slow her fast paced talking, and you're not sure how to quiet her down other than placing a hand over her mouth.
instantly, the talking stops as she looks up at you confused, you sniffle once more and she grabs your hand again to remove it from her mouth
“you were talking a lot,” you whisper “its okay that you came in, ellie.” your voice is silky, addicting.
“i just-” she sighs, anxiously tapping the space outside your thighs and staring at her own hands “i don’t know how i can express just how sorry i am, i fucked up. Bad. and your hurting because of it” she spills, shes not even sure if it made sense as it left her mouth, but it’s honest.
“ellie… it was always more than just a casual thing to me,” you admit, voice getting shallower by the second “and i mean, i don’t know, i always just assumed if i kept saying i was fine with it you would realize that i was who you wanted, but now i know it isn’t true.” ellie’s face drops upon hearing your words, alarms blare in her head because of course it was never just casual to her as well, she’s not even sure why she suggested it in the first place or kept reinforcing it when she wanted everything but that.
“i know,” she starts off with, you look down sadly, this was confirmation she didn't want to see you anymore, that you getting attached had ruined everything and there was no saving whatever you two had. “but,” she continues, you look up at her again, confused. “It was never just casual to me as well, you know? i’m not even sure why i suggested it in the first place.” she lets out a brief chuckle at the last part in hopes of clearing some of the tension around you guys.
“but you-”
“i know i always reminded you, i think it was because i was scared? i was so… infatuated with you and i guess i didn’t want to hurt you. i thought it was the only way.” she remorsefully confesses, and you smile, roles reversed as you gracefully grab her face and kiss her. a kiss that says everything.
it's soft, gentle, show’s no urgency or panic. it’s natural, and ellie can feel you smiling into it, as is she.
gently, she moves away and starts kissing down your neck, you lock your hands into her auburn and let out a sigh of content.
“ellie…” you needily whisper.
“yeah, baby?” she removes her mouth from your neck, grabbing your thighs and looking into your eyes. “this okay?”
“more than okay,” you confirm, “do you wanna shower with me?” your request is simple, but it makes ellie’s heart explode with excitement as she lifts you off the counter and begins to carry you over to the very familiar shower, the short walk is full of quick kisses and giggles bouncing off the walls when you finally arrive and she nearly stumbles over her own feet.
you're quick to discard your own clothes, the anticipation building to feel ellie’s skin on your own, the girls anticipation matching yours as she hastily removes her own clothing. Flowers and bra forgotten in the kitchen when she pulls your body into the shower with her, capturing you into a needy kiss once more. she reaches behind you to turn the water on, not accounting for the fact it'll take a minute to warm up and allowing the freezing stream to harshly hit your back. you yelp, moving away quickly in shock, hearing ellie’s restrained snort from behind you. turning to face her, you slap her bicep playfully when the water begins to feel warmer
“ellie!” you playfully scold, “that wasn't funny!” you’re trying to be serious, key word: trying, but you cant help to let your own laugh slip past your mouth as you join her in the fun.
“‘m sorry!” she giggles, the laughter between you two dying down “i didn't think it would be that cold!”
“yeah, well, obviously!” you attempt to splash her with the little bit of remaining cold water on your hands, but you're not quick enough. she pins your hands above your head against the wall adjacent to the stream of water, the glass becoming foggy with steam from the nearly boiling water.
silence falls in between the two of you. no words are spoken as you move forwards wanting a kiss from the girl, but she moves back. deja vu spikes within you from that night at the bar, days before everything went down.
she closes her eyes, leaning closer and pressing her forehead up against yours. You repeat the action, you weren't sure what she was doing, but you trusted her.
“let’s take this slow, okay?” she utters softly, just loud enough so you could hear her over the sound of water pouring, you nod instantly. slow was good. slow meant effort.
with your agreement, she locks your lips into a kiss once again. it wasn't hasty or rough, it was soothing and steady, releasing your arms in order for her to move her own to rest on your hips, your own reaching towards her neck.
the kiss continuous for a couple minutes, only letting go for a couple seconds at a time to catch your breaths before falling back into each other peacefully, but you were getting wetter and wetter, desperate for more than just kitten kisses on your neck, and you could tell ellie was getting wet too with her movements becoming more and more desperate and rough.
discreetly, you slot your knee in between her legs while she's occupied with your neck. Almost immediately you can feel the grip she has on your hips become tighter, fingernails digging into the flesh as you slowly begin to move your knee, she groans, dropping her head into your shoulder, moving her hips to match the rhythm with your knee.
“faster, please” she whimpers in your neck, busying herself again by leaving wet open mouthed kisses on your neck once more. who were you to deny such a pretty girl's request? you speed up the movement of your knee, nudging it up every now and again, removing a hand from her neck to reach down and slowly rub her clit.
from the way she sucked harder on that spot just below your ear she knew you loved, you assumed the sensation was taken well, your own wetness starting to drip down your thighs, mixing with the water from the muffled noises she was making alone. eventually, the stimulation caught up to her, legs becoming shaky, speeding up your movements and circling her clit, forcefully removing her mouth from your neck so you could bring your head down and suck on her left nipple, and that was her tipping point.
ellie came undone on your leg with a strangled shout of your name, legs shaking and thighs hurting as you slowed down the circles on her now sensitive nub before eventually stopping, removing the knee slotted between her legs as well as your mouth from her tit.
“you okay?” you whisper, giving her a couple seconds to come down from her high, the water providing a warm comfort over the two of you.
“yeah,” she breathes, coming up to give you a kiss on the lips, again, and again, making a wet noise each time, only further fueling your need for her. “more than okay, thank you.”
you smile at her, happy that she was satisfied with your work. you clench your thighs together in hopes to relieve some of the tension that had built up in your core, a move that did not go unnoticed by the dripping girl in front of you.
“but now i think i need to take care of you, hm? would you like that?” you quickly nod your head yes, anxious to feel her touch on you once more.
she doesn't wait to get to work on your body, lips going down to suck one of your boobs while her hand moves to roll the sensitive bud in between her fingers, almost instantly eliciting a moan from you.
quietly, she moves her hand that was previously rolling your nipple down your wet body to your core. you open your legs, she keeps her mouth on your boob, but teasing your folds as she ran her fingers through them and pinching your clit ever so slightly, causing you to squel.
“ellie.. please…” you almost beg, desperate to feel her skilled fingers inside you already.
she presses her palm flat against your clit, ignoring your begs but making you jerk back into the ceramic wall as a small whimper falls from your mouth, ellie smirks knowing just how much of an effect she had on you. she wasn't leaving you ever again.
lazily, she slips her middle finger into your hole, removing her mouth from your tit. the shower and your own slick providing enough lube that she didn't even have to prod at it.
“jesus babe… you're so tight” you clench around her finger at these words, and she mindlessly adds a second one. your hands move from her neck to the steaming glass beside you, indenting your handprint through the fog as you lose control over your own body's movements.
gradually, she begins pumping her fingers in and out of your sopping cunt, lewd and shameless moans leaving your mouth at an uncontrollable pace. she moves her thumb to your clit, pushing into it and causing as much pressure as possible, and it's not long before you cum with a yell of her name, babbling nonsense as she guides you through it. head in her neck as is hers in yours.
“‘m so sorry” ellie continuously repeats as her fingers still work at a relentless pace inside you “i'm so so sorry, ill never do that to you again.” she moves up and bites your earlobe, continuing to pilot you through your orgasm before halting her movements completely and removing herself from your body.
you lean back against the wall, eyes closed in content as you feel the droplets of water hit your skin, your water bill is gonna be so fucking high this month, all ellie does it look at you. admiring you in this post fucked out state. you reach your hand out, a silent request for her to take it and she does, right after turning off the stream for you.
“that was… amazing.” you breathe out happily, she beams at the peaceful look on your face as you peel your eyes open, ellie's smile making you crack your own.
“i'm glad,” she kisses you once more, the two of you smiling into it.
“we’re okay?” she asks
“we’re okay.” you confirm, and ellie has never been happier
“how about we continue this in the bedroom?” ellie suggests, and you grab her instantly to lead her out.

Kirishima x Chubby!Reader
a/n: this is quite possibly the sluttiest thing i’ve ever wrote. reader and kiri are in college. includes: daddy kink, size kink, manhandling, some descriptions of chubby reader, etc.
also i hate spell checking so i didn’t <3
Tumblr media
did kirishima even realize what his snapchats did to you?
you crossed your legs, squeezing together as to relieve pressure down there. you put on a brave smile, looking up into your camera. the perfect angle of your boobs and your thighs.
kirishima was in the gym like always. every day, at 8 pm, he would hit the gym with his friend bakugou. you and bakugou weren’t that close, as kirishima was the only object of your affection. you didn’t care for any other men because of how obsessed you were with kiri.
wow kiri! have your muscles gotten bigger?
you giggled as you typed out your response, hitting send after you looked over the photo. it was perfect. you weren’t stupid. you knew kirishima wanted you. and he always watched your thighs and tits, whether he realized it or not. sometimes he would subconsciously squeeze your thigh. you knew he was obsessed too.
kirishima was out of breath, panting at the machine. he had just finished another set of his lift routine. opening his snapchat, he saw your notification. no one else mattered on there but you. in fact, everyone had been left on delivered for 20 hours.
kirishima chuckled as he read your text. he smiled, flexing for the camera. his biceps were absolutely massive, practically bulging out of his skin tight black shirt. oh, not to mention your favorite kiri hairstyle: the man bun with his red bangs sticking to his forehead. he was everything you wanted and more.
you impatiently waited for his text. he was so hot and you were too horny to not stare at pictures of him sweaty. you felt yourself getting wetter as you imagined him in all different ways.
ding!
finally, his text! you squealed with delight, flopping back on your bed.
kiri baby ❤️ maybe! gotta make sure i can lift at least 3 of you ;)
you giggled, twisting your hair. kirishima knew you were insecure of yourself, but always had the perfect thing to say. he could easily lift you. slam you. hold you up against the wall.
3 of me? how much are you lifting?!
kirishima instantly opened your message. after all, this was the break in his set. there was nothing more he wanted to do than come over. he wanted to show you how strong he was. he had been wanting to show you for months. he stared at the snapstreak of 105 days. it was enough time, right? you had to like him at this point!
kiri baby ❤️ not sure how much u weigh, but i’m lifting 600
600?! you blinked. holy fuck. it did make sense, as he had been training since he was young. kirishima is the most built man you know.
you quickly snapped a photo of your head back on the pillow, with your boobs nearly spilling out of your tank top.
600?!?! it would be easy to lift me o_O
kirishima opened your snap, then replayed it. he sighed, trying not to get hard in public. his brain was full of horny thoughts as he stared at your boobs. kirishima was craving you tonight, and he wasn’t sure why. normally he can suppress his urges, but this time he needs you. so bad. he needed to play it cool though. after all, you two were friends.
kiri baby ❤️ i know :) what are you up to tonight?
you began to reply quickly. you didn’t know how much longer his break was, and you wanted to see him badly. sometimes you guys would link up after he goes to the gym. you would study together or just grab a late night snack. kirishima always wanted to feed you because he loved taking care of you.
nothing much! got most of my shit done.
kirishima knew he was almost done with his workout. he sat up, and grabbed his water bottle.
“oi, kirishima! what are you doing?!” bakugou piped up
“sorry bro, y/n is really distracting me tonight!”
bakugou rolled his eyes. “yeah shitty hair! she distracts you every night! do you want her to start coming and watching you?!”
katsuki shook his head. “not cool, bakugou.”
“yeah, whatever! i know you guys are gonna hang out after. that’s why you were snapping her!”
kirishima rolled his eyes. bakugou wasn’t even worth the response right now. kiri snapped a quick picture of his feet and water bottle.
kiri baby ❤️ i’m gonna be done in an hour. wanna get a snack?
you giggled with delight. you loved seeing kirishima whenever you could.
of course i wanna get a snack ^_^ i’m so excited!
kirishima smiled at his phone. you were the cutest creature known to man.
kiri baby ❤️ okay beautiful! i’ll be at your dorm at 10
you set down your phone and immediately hopped off your bed. your roomie perked up, looking over at you.
“kirishima?” she asked
“yep!” you smiled. “need to get ready for him!”
she shook her head. “he doesn’t care what you look like. we’ve seen the way he stares at you, y/n”
“ohhh, but i love getting ready! it makes it more fun. kirishima needs to know how hot i am!”
you giggled, sitting at your vanity. you turned the bright white lights on and opened your makeup bag. you decided on a natural look, but still wanted to look glowy and flawless.
after your makeup, you put on a mini skirt and cropped sweatshirt with your college logo. a little to tease, but not too much skin showing. you quickly gathered essentials in your purse and threw on some thigh highs and sneakers.
“what do you think?!” you asked your roomie
“beautiful as always!” she replied
“yay!” you exclaimed
you opened your phone to see kiri had texted you that he was on his way. “gotta go!”
“stay safe!” she said
you slammed the door shut behind you and giggled. you loved seeing kiri. it was your favorite part of every week. you rushed down the stairs, panting and breathless by the time you got to the lobby.
opening the doors, you saw kirishima standing by the entrance. you smiled and waved as soon as he noticed you.
kirishima’s hair was still wet from his shower. but now he wore loose fitting gray sweatpants and a black tank top. his gym bag was with bakugou, who begrudgingly allowed him to leave it with him.
kirishima opened his arms for a hug, which you bounded into. you put your face near his heart and breathed in the clean smells. burying your head, you nudged him like a little dog.
“hi pretty girl. where are we going tonight?” he asked
you wrapped your arms around him, staring up into his eyes. kirishima was so perfect. “i dunno!”
kirishima chuckled. “cookies and then we can go back to my place?”
you finally let go, only to grab onto his arm. you were a little clingy, but he didn’t mind. he loved being your big protector.
“yay! let’s do it!”
kirishima loved your enthusiasm. he loved the size difference too. i mean after all, he was a big man. not only were his biceps the size of your face nearly, but he was also over 6’4. you were lucky to have caught his attention after years of him being your campus crush. when you’d see him, he’d smile at you, and you’d smile back.
it wasn’t until a party that the two of you met. you were a champion in beer pong. so much that a photo of you hangs in some frat on campus to signify who the champion of the year is. unfortunately, kirishima was paired against you. he lost to you and your unhinged roomie.
but he didn’t care. he loved watching you win. the way you jumped up and down and giggled. after the game was over, the two of you went outside to talk on a shitty couch. you couldn’t imagine the things that were done on it, so you tried not to think at all.
admittedly, you were tipsy. and so was kirishima.
“you’re cute.” he says
“thank you!” you replied back, too scared to admit he was your campus crush. “you aren’t so bad yourself…but you suck at beer pong!”
kirishima smiled at the memory. the two of you walked through the desolate campus, under the moonlit sky. there was no better way to spend his nights than by your side.
“how was the gym kiri?” you ask politely
“it was great. you know, we should work out sometime together!” he says
you raised your eyebrows. “i don’t lift, i do my pilates and treadmill workout. and plus your bakubro is a bakuasshole.”
kirishima laughed. “you’re so sassy, y/n!”
“yeah i am. always have been always will be.” you crossed your arms at him.
kirishima shook his head. “oh c’mon pretty girl. you know you wanna hold my arm.”
“yeah, i do.” you smiled, grabbing back onto him. “i like walking with you like this.”
the two of you arrived at the cookie place. they already knew exactly what you wanted. you and kirishima would always order the same box of cookies, as it was directly across from his dorm.
you rushed back into his room so you could eat the cookies while they were still hot. kirishima got out cups and milk from his mini fridge. you turned on the tv and got comfy below the blankets in his bed. as he turned around, kirishima only fell more in love with you.
his cute little girl, all bundled up. kirishima smiled and set down your drinks and cookies on the table beside his bed. he sat next to you, caressing your head and hair.
“i wish we could have a sleepover.” he admits
you smiled and leaned into his touch. “me too, kiri baby.”
you sat up and gestured for cookies. kiri smiled and opened the box and handed you your favorite. you leaned your head on his shoulder and turned up the tv.
you and kirishima mindlessly watched the tv and finished your cookies. once they were done, you stood up and cleared everything away. kirishima watched you bend over to put the milk back and saw your panties.
fuck.
he couldn’t turn away from it. they were just so adorable. silk and pink.
you turned around, putting your hand on your hip. “kiri, are you staring at me?”
“no!” he exclaimed, ashamed of his horny thoughts. “i wouldn’t do that!”
you giggled. “mhm.”
kirishima’s face burned hot. you got back into bed with him, cuddling into his side. he was hot to the touch. it nearly made you break out into a sweat.
“kiri, you’re so warm. you should take your shirt off.”
you giggled up at him as his face morphed into shock. he blinked down at you. “seriously?”
“yeah, duh!” you exclaimed.
you felt rather bold tonight. you climbed up on his lap and pulled at the ends of his shirt. “i wanna see. can you show me kiri?”
you pouted at him. kirishima was already hard. you could feel him against your thigh. you made sure not to sit directly on top of him.
“princess, you’re crazy.” he replied. “but i always give you what you want, don’t i?”
“that’s why i’m your princess, stupid.”
“you wanna help me take it off?” he asked
the two of you gazed into each others eyes. an uncontrollable cloud of lust shrouded you. your hands gripped the ends of his shirt. he watched as you pulled carefully and slowly.
what you revealed was the body of an olympian god. you nearly foamed at the mouth as you saw what he had to offer. his v-line was so prominent. and his little happy trail. you had never been so horny in your life.
“k-kiri…i can’t hold myself back anymore,” you whined. “you were so mean at the gym today.”
kiri pretended to pout at you and ran his thumb down your cheek. “you poor princess,”
you were so desperate for dick. your pussy clenched and unclenched around nothing. you needed something- anything.
“please don’t tease me anymore kiri, i really wanna feel you!” you whined
“well then pretty girl, you’re gonna need to leave those panties with me.” he said. “and take off that skirt.”
you swiftly got up from the bed and turned around to change. you bent over, giving him the perfect view of your ass. he watched as you dragged your panties down, exposing your pussy lips. kirishima audibly groaned, touching his dick through his pants.
his heart raced as you unbuttoned your skirt. it fell from your legs, opening a whole new world for kiri to see. your pretty, supple thighs. you held onto your panties, turning around to look at him.
“k-kiri, i feel embarrassed!” you whined. “i don’t really like showing anyone my body like this…”
kirishima smiled, grabbing your hips. he sat you back down where you were before. “you’re my princess. my perfect little princess. and i wouldn’t have you any other way. now hand me those panties.”
you held out your hand for him. he held them up to his nose, sniffing while his eyes rolled back. “mm fuck, gonna need to taste that.”
he put the panties on his bedside table. you had a feeling you wouldn’t be getting those back.
“kiri, that was so pervy of you!”
“god i know, but that’s just what you do to me, princess. i turn into a fucking weirdo for you. i’m so fucking obsessed with you.”
he inhaled deeply, gripping at your hips. you already stained his sweatpants. he could smell you in the air and feel your wetness seep through.
“like fuck, i need you to grind on me before i do something crazy.” he admitted. “i just get all these uncontrollable urges with you.”
you scooted up on his pants and to his dick. “i do too kiri. i think we just need to fuck it all out. i have the most nastiest thoughts of you humanly possible.”
you grinded against him. he grunted as he felt your pussy lips drag up and down.
“i’m so glad we are finally being honest, princess. i can’t control my feelings for you anymore. i fuckin love teasing you at the gym. i just love thinking about how horny you get baby.”
you whined in his ear as you found the perfect spot. kiri had his hands on your hips, guiding you back and forth. the two of you dry humped each other, and it was disgustingly amazing.
“no no kiri, you don’t understand!” you exclaimed. “when you send me pictures in the gym i get fucking sinful.”
kirishima chuckled. “yeah pretty princess? what do you think about?”
you cried out as he jerked into you. you pulled his sweatpants down so as to be able to grind on him directly. it felt so much better. the two of you moaned as you hit each others spots.
“fuck, what do i not think about?! you’re so big and strong kiri. i just need you to throw me around and fuck me until i can’t think.”
“why didn’t you just say so?”
kirishima flipped you over so that you were below him. he took off his sweatpants and pinned your arms on his headboard. you cried out as he gripped your wrists.
“like this princess? you wanna be treated like this?” he asked
you nodded your head quickly. “y-yes kiri!”
he dragged you up so that he could take your hoodie off. ripping the material from your skin, he had no mercy for you. he slammed you back down on the bed, so much so that it shook. you moaned, loving being manhandled.
“fuck princess, we coulda been doin this every night if you were just a little more honest with me.”
“god i really regret it kiri! you don’t know how bad i need this every week and every night.”
kirishima chuckled. he loved looking at your naked body, fully presented just for him. he ran his hands from your stomach to your thighs.
“need what, pretty girl?”
you wanted to scream. you grabbed his hands. “need something inside, kiri! please!”
oh fuck. you were so desperate. kiri thought it was adorable how you tried to assert dominance. it was so easy for him to overpower you. he was charmed by the way you held his wrists, thinking you could stop him.
“yeah baby? your poor fuckin thing. this pussy must be crying for me. need me to feel those wet insides, precious?”
you put your legs up so that they rested on his shoulders. kiri inhaled the strong scent of pussy, as it was much closer to his face. he looked down to see that his bed was covered in your juices.
“fuckin hell, princess. look what you did to my bed.”
but you didn’t want to look. you wanted kiri to finger you or shove his dick inside.
“i’m sorry kiri! i’m really sorry! i’ll help you clean up, i promise!”
kiri had so much control over you. his fingers crept up your thigh slowly. he began to touch your lips. you cried out. he was going so slow.
“i know you will, my perfect little princess. but you wanna do something else right now, don’t you? you need me inside you, right?”
you nearly screamed as he finally inserted one finger.
“daddy! daddy i need more!”
daddy? kirishima was gonna have a hard time controlling himself. “you like calling me daddy? fuck princess, you really are so dirty.”
he rammed his finger inside, up to your guts. you were screaming with just one. he couldn’t imagine more than three inside.
“yes daddy! i’m a dirty girl! please, please, i need another so bad!”
kirishima gave you what he want. he always did and always will. adding another finger, you only got wetter. he could hear your pussy as he went in and out. his whole hand was covered in it, and he could feel it drip down his arm.
“fuck princess, you’re so fuckin wet for daddy. listen to you, pathetic little girl. you hear how wet that pussy is? those little moans and whines? well shit, who are we kidding. you’re screaming on my fingers!”
your mouth was open, slack jawed. it felt so good. you could hardly focus on anything else. kirishima humiliated you in the sweetest way possible. he only made things worse.
“i’m sorry for being a messy girl daddy! i’m sorry i’m so loud!”
kirishima loved making you embarrassed. your cheeks were red, with little tears building up in your eyes. you opened your eyes, watching kirishima’s face of focus as he rammed into you.
“it’s okay perfect princess. you need to feel good, don’t you? i know how mean i was, teasing you like that in the gym.”
“so mean daddy!” tears broke free from your eyes. you were lost in this world of lust. there was nothing you could do but feel it out. you were completely gone. not thinking of future consequences nor the embarrassment of yourself.
“god it’s all worth it. all these months.” he sighed
you cried even more as he added another finger. he was splitting you open one by one. “i need more daddy! i need your cock, please! fingers aren’t enough!”
“no baby, they aren’t are they? you need daddy’s dick in that wet pussy, don’t you? don’t worry little one, i’ll fuckin ruin that pussy.“
kirishima finally took off his boxers. you gasped at the size. it was so big. you almost weren’t sure you’d be able to take it.
“please be gentle sir!”
“oh my precious princess, how sweet you cry.”
he slowly put his bulbous head inside. you moaned with delight, grabbing onto his arm. kirishima took that as a sign to keep pushing in. slowly, you were filled to the brim with his cock. you felt his tip poke your insides, moaning at the feeling.
“please daddy, please fuck me!”
kirishima nearly lost all control with the first stroke. in out in out. he tried to stay calm, but you only pushed back into him. you wanted it hard and fast, he could tell.
“not hard enough! need it sooo hard!!”
you were absolutely delirious. you closed your eyes and left your mouth open wide. kirishima watched saliva spill out as he fucked into you harder.
“yeah daddy! yeah! just like that!”
he gripped your legs, shoving his cock into your pussy. he abused your g-spot and made you scream.
“you’re only gonna want my cock coz of how good i fuck you. gonna be obsessed with me and need this cock.”
you nodded your head, focusing on how fast his pace was.
“gonna do that homework and sit on this cock. rock back and forth on those shit chairs and break em just for more of my dick.”
you giggled as he kept going. your tongue lolled out of your moth as you lost control of all senses. all you could think about was his cock. and he was right, you’d break a chair just for a good fuck.
“gonna be at the gym, sitting on this cock as i work out. riding up and down without a care of who sees. i’ll fuckin ruin all your gym clothes with cum and rip those leggings.”
“oh my god daddy!” you screamed, gripping his shoulders. he was so hot, imaging everything out loud.
“gonna be in the shower, with you still on my cock. bent over on the floor so i can fuck into your pussy.”
“yes daddy! i wanna get fucked everywhere sir!”
“gonna need it all the time, always clinging to me, right princess?”
kirishima loved that pathetic face. your makeup was absolutely ruined. tears and saliva went down your face, to your neck, then the bed. it was a mix of mascara, spit, pussy, and your adorable cries. your mouth was wide open, finally opening your eyes.
“yes daddy! i‘ll be like your personal fuck doll!”
kirishima chuckled. he smacked you on your ass. you screamed and pushed up into his cock again. you could only feel the slam of his dick, no other feelings but that.
“yeah you fuckin will, perfect princess. you’ll be a little toy for daddy, won’t ya?”
“uh huh! yes sir!” you agreed
you felt yourself getting closer and closer to the edge. kirishima watched your face contort into ecstasy. he only felt himself get closer.
“daddy! i’m cumming!”
you rode your high, screaming as he finished inside. you couldn’t even care as you watched the cum drip down your thighs, leaking out onto the bed. he still kept himself inside, buried as much as possible.
kirishima collapsed on top of you, sweat sticking to both of your bodies. “fuck y/n! i’m so sorry for cumming inside- i didn’t even ask-“
“no, it’s okay. don’t even worry your big head about that.” you said softly
“you sure?” he replied
“mhm, you can stay inside pretty boy.”
kirishima laid his head on your boobs. he squished them closer to his mouth, kissing them. you giggled as he buried himself between your tits.
“my little baby.” you teased softly. “not so big and strong anymore, huh?”
kiri didn’t even care in the slightest. he loved squishy cuddles from you. “i love boobies.”
you absolutely giggled. “kiri! you’re a bad boy!”
kiri squished your tits so that they would touch each cheek. “mmmf…don’t care. you are my squishy girlfriend.”
“girlfriend, huh?” you beamed
kiri kissed your forehead. “of course princess. we just fucked like literal animals.”
the two of you giggled, slowing your breathing and relaxing. the movie from earlier was still playing, causing you to feel extra drowsy.
“kiri, i’m sleepy.” you said softly
“that’s okay baby, the RA owes me a favor. you close those pretty eyes.”
you smiled, still feeling his dick twitch inside. you knew tomorrow was gonna be just as good as the night. “okie kiri…”
kiri watched you drift to sleep, kissing you softly all around your face. he was so lucky to have someone as beautiful as you.
“goodnight precious girl.”

Just wanted to say thank you so, so much for writing Fate's Favourite. I actually found and loved your blog before I ever found that fanfic, and it was a delight to know it was written by you, and it's so clear how you've improved. But Fate's Favourite will always have a part of my heart, because it's the first story I've read that just has a platonic friendship that feels as equal as a romantic one without being romantic? And as a lonely aroace that means everything. EVERYTHING. (1/2)
(2/2) I had a conversation today that reminded me that I'm never going to have the queerplatonic relationship I want that I've always wanted since I was a child, and how it makes me want to write one so much more, but then I've never managed to write the story I've wanted to write my entire life because I'd always be afraid of being accused of queerbaiting or people just going, 'but it's actually just a gay romance this isn't what friendship looks like' and just. Thank you for Fate's Favourite.
--
Wow. FF is a blast from the past!
You are very welcome.
Apologies for the long, self-indulgent reply.
That story was one of the first things I ever properly wrote and my first (maybe second?) truly long-form story ever. I thus have a soft spot for it, even though in terms of craft and technique I can't so much as look at it without seeing all my numerous beginner flaws and cringing and can't bring myself to actually point people to it. Much improvement since then, as you say!
(An excellent reminder that writing is a learned skill.)
Anyway. The other interesting thing about that story is that I wrote it before I'd ever heard of asexuality or realised that was what I was. I was a very confused teenager being bombarded with this pressure to have crushes and date people and all that general societal messaging we have about romance being the most important thing ever. Especially in YA.
So I'd go home after school and write that story.
Obviously it's more unhealthy than what I'd want for myself in my real life, but the sheer intensity of feeling and importance of the platonic main relationship was something I had also never seen before but craved. And still crave, honestly. So I feel ya.
As for queerbaiting...
A lot of readers at the time told me they viewed the story as 'pre-romance'. AKA, it's a romantic relationship and they haven't realised it yet for whatever reason. They mostly didn't mean that badly, I don't think.
(Although I sometimes think though that if the term 'queerbaiting' was as broadly known and misused then as it is now that I would have been mercilessly lambasted out of ever writing again! And I wouldn't have known how to articulate the fact that wasn't, actually, what I was doing. I think we need to be kind to new writers. I think 'content creator' is gutting something vital in the ecosystem. But that's another rabbit hole.)
So I've been there. It happens. But other people's bad takes didn't change the story and what it meant to me as a lonely ace teenager or what it meant to you.
I have had readers before make a similar comment to you about how it was the first time they got to see something so important to their heart portrayed.
That matters so much more than whatever people say about your writing who don't need it.
Which is why we have to keep writing the stories.
Even if it's clumsy and raw. Even if it's the first thing you've ever tried. Even if it's (especially if) it's a messed up fantasy straight from the most primal part of your brain.
If we don't write it, it won't exist.
And that's so much worse.
The nay-sayers can come to the party, but it wasn't thrown in their honour.

Notes at the end.
....................................
Joy was the only way to explain the way you were feeling. You had Karai back in your life, you had your sister omce again.
The time you were seperated you felt as though you'd been split in two, you had never been apart for so long. You were twins, best friends, two halves of a whole.
So when she renounced you, when she left you behind, you couldn't help but hurt. You felt guilt and shame for leaving, though you knew it was just your habit of taking all the blame.
The two of you had yet to talk about that day. You knew you needed too, it was necessary to mend the strained bond you shared, but you couldn't help but grow anxious whenever you tried.
So the two of you just left it alone, hoping that strained feeling would dissapear. You sighed as you continued to watch your little brothers spar with each other. Splinter insisted that you observe alongside your sister, despite having particapated in their training before, wanting to unlearn the style taught to you in your youth.
A small giggle escaped from your mouth as the boys abandoned their weapons in favor of wrestling on the ground. You looked over at Karai and saw her face also graced with amusment.
"Is this how training always goes?" Karai asks, snickering silently.
"Yame!" Your father shouted, and irrated sigh following.
You couldn't help your own silent giggling, as you had never seen training happen this way before. The water balloons were definitly new.
"My sons and daughters, that is enough for today."
The boys all stand to leave, you were going to go with them, but Karai remained, so you did as well. Leonardo turned to the two of you, "You guys coming?" he asked.
"In a minute." Karai replied, moving to stand by the alter that held the picture of the two of you in your mothers arms.
Splinter moved to stand beside her, glancing down at Karai, "Not what you expected?"
Karai sighed, "I'll admit, it's weird being with the people I was told were my enemies."
You nodded, "Hai. I honestly thought Leonardo was tricking me when he told me the truth."
Karai looked up at Splinter curiously, "What really happened between you, Shredder and our mother?"
With a grim sigh, Splinter tells the tale of his brotherhood turned rivalry. How both he and Oroku Saki fell in love with the same women, and how years of Saki's built up jealousy ultimately led to tragedy.
You were horrified. This is not the tale you were told as a child. Though you figured long ago that it was a lie. But a lie to this extent? It was all Shredder's fault.
He ruined your family, took away your mother then blamed your father, and you believed him. You never desired revenge on Yoshi the way Karai always had, no, but your resentment towards him was always there.
To know that you had been angry at the wrong man your whole life, and the true horror was standing next to you the entire time was shattering. It filled you with guilt.
Karai was angry. You could tell, and she wasn't hiding it. She never did. You knew what she wanted, and it was revenge.
"After all this time," she said, her rage evident, "Haven't you wanted revenge?"
Splinter shook his head, "After all this time I learned that revenge only leads to more pain."
That was true, you supposed. Revenge could go on infinintly in a cycle of tragedy, you supposed letting go of things was necessary sometimes. But maybe not this time.
Karai seemed appalled at Splinter's stance on the matter, arguing with him until Splinter gently eased her. So he thinks anyway.
You and Karai share a glance. It's quick and fleeting, most would miss it, and those who didn't wouldn't chalk it up to anything. But the message was clear.
Tonight was the night that Shredder would pay for his lies at the hands of the two he'd wronged.
Tonight, Oroku Saki would suffer.
That night, you and Karai lay in your shared room, pretending to be asleep. Leo comes to check on the two of you, asking if your awake and recieving no reply.
He leaves, and you lock eyes with Karai. With a nod, the two of you silently creep out of your room and towards the exit.
"Going after Shredder by yourselves is a bad idea."
You turn to see Leonardo, and you silently groan. Karai scowls, "Don't try to stop us, Leo."
Leo shakes his head, "I want to go with you." he says, and Karai looks surprised, glancing over at you before turning back to Leo
"What?" she asks, you remain silent, standing behind her.
"You're right, Shredder will never stop hunting us. The only way for us to be safe is to take him down."
You and Karai look at eachother, having a silent conversation. You nod slightly at Karai, and Leo perks up, think you're agreeing to let him come along.
Karai sighs, "My whole life has been about revenge." she looks back at you as you look at the ground, "We can't ask you to risk your life too."
"Let me help."
Karai approaches Leo, and you watch the interaction slightly ammused as you say, "Sorry, Ao."
Karai punches Leo in the face, and you quickly use a pellet to knock him unconcious.
You check to make sure Leo is unconcious. and Karai nods, "This ends tonight." she states, and the two of you silently leave the Lair.
You and Karai stealthily make your way into the Shredders throne room, something you always hated about this place. It was pretencious, and made him seem a more important man than he was.
Karai motions to the throne, and you spot the outline of your father sitting there. With a shared nod, the two of you creep up to either side of the throne, ready to end this once and for all.
But as you get closer, you're shocked to realize that Shredder isn't there... it's Chrome Dome.
So then where..?
"Karai. (Name)."
You turn to find the Shredder standing over the two of you, and despite your best efforts, despite Karai's clear confidence, you can't help that small trickle of helplessness that fills you.
"You returned sooner than I expected." He says, addressing Karai before turning to you with a scowl, "You however. I have not seen you in quite some time, Uragiri, not for months."
Uragiri. A name that meant betrayal. A stark contrast to your current name, or the name used by your father. You could feel the venom and malice in Shredder's tone, you never had been his favorite. That title went to Karai.
Chrome Dome forcefully grabbed Karai, and you moved to help, only for Shredder to throw you to the side. You slammed into the wall with a yelp, a sharp pain shooting through your ribs.
You watched as Karai freed herself from Chrome Dome's hold, stabbing the robot to incapacitate it. Karai stood fierce before the Shredder, and you joined her side, drawing your own tantō blade.
You did your best to ignore the flare of pain in your torso, watching with slight enjoyment as Shredder realized that unlike Karai, the tantō you used was not the one he'd given you. The blade handle was engraved with the Hamato crest, something you showed off with pride. Shredder's rage was evident in his face.
"The time has come for us to say good-bye, Shredder." Karai said, voiced laced with venom.
You nodded, tilting your head, "I never did get to bid the fairwell."
The two of you charged the Shredder, Karai tossed a smoke pellet in an attempt to distract him, but to your amazment, he didn't react at all.
He blocked both your blades as you swung at him, pushing both of you back and away from him. Karai jumped around Shredder, slicing in an attempt to hit him at least once.
You charged as he turned his back, aiming for the chinks in his armor. However, he turned and brought his fist down on the back of your neck with enough force to knock you to the ground. Your head slammed into the ground, causing your vision to swim as you rolled over onto your back. He stamped his foot down on your torso and you cried out as he applied pressure to your broken ribs.
Angry, Karai stabbed at his face, only for Shredder to catch the blade inbetween his hands. He shoved Karai away with a scowl.
"Foolish children." he scowls, kicking you away in favor of slowly approaching Karai, "I taught you everything you know, you hold no surprises for me. This has gone far enough."
Karai lauched two shuriken in his direction, Shredder blocked them, and Karai continued to attack. Causing Shedder to stumble back where he would see the Hamato crest ingraned on the shuriken.
With a shout of rage, he backhanded Karai as she jumped at him. Karai landed afew feet from you, and you winced as you attempted to stand.
You felt someone's foot push on your back, forcing you back to the ground as Tigerclaw took Karai. Your sister continued to struggle, shouting things you couldn't register as your brain grew foggy, and you fell unconcious...

What if...? Duskwdood Chapter 24
Chapter 23 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lilly and I had done everything we could to settle the matter and help her brother. Jake.
When I found out who he really was, I couldn't help but cry every night. I had said horrible things about his sisters, how was I going to look at his face now? Insinuated that Hannah might have killed herself? Or worse: That she had done something terrible. And I had spoken badly about Lilly, if I had known from the beginning, perhaps I would not have said any of those things. But I couldn't go back in time anymore, I could only fix now.
I had everyone rule Phil out as a suspect. I didn't find anything strange and besides, I won a free drink, which Richy didn't like… Would Jake mind if he knew that? I'm trying to lead a normal life while we wait to hear from Jake. It's been two months now without hearing from him. Two months without a message. It scares me to think that something could have happened to him. Sometimes I would go to the coffee shop where we first talked, hoping that he would come back for me. But I know that it is dangerous to return to the place where you fled.    "Can i sit?"  I look up from my phone and see Brian, pointing to the chair.    "Yeah, sure." I replied, turning off the screen.     I was looking at the Nymos chat. So far, it's quite an enigmatic chat for me. Brian sits down and calls the waitress. I listen as he orders his coffee and then he stares at me.    "It's a cozy place." he tells me, adjusting his suit.    "Lian and I used to come here a lot," I answered, nostalgically, "until she met you and the fancy cafeterias."    "Oh, I'm sorry."    "It’s okay."     It had been a long time since I had seen him. The truth is that I don't know what to say. Seeing him again knowing he's after Jake doesn't help my emotions.    "Any reason you're here?" I asked, crossing my arms across the table.    "Well, I know you're interested in my case" the waitress hands his coffee cup and thanks her, returning to the conversation ", I thought you wanted news."     I frowned, studying him. I don't know what he's trying to do now, he would have to know that he can't give information to a civilian.    "Do they let you talk about it?" I ask, sipping my third cup of coffee today.    "I'm making an exception with you for…obvious reasons."     Again hinting that I know Jake. I remember he told me that my tears gave me away. I think that no one would be able to hold back their tears knowing that the person they love is in danger.    "Well, tell me what new news you have."     Brian looks at his coffee before taking a sip. He is preparing to speak.    “Two months ago, we managed to corner him."     I try to stay calm, though my heart is beating too fast with worry.    "Really?" I give him a smile. False " Wow."    "Yes, but he managed to escape... Not before being shot." It's then that my emotions come out. My hand shakes. "We currently don’t know his whereabouts."     I drop my cup, knocking over the coffee. Damn, he's using my feelings against me to find out. I get up taking my things, angry, scared, worried.    "Macie, come back!" I hear Brian yell at me, following me.     I completely ignore him getting to my car, but before I get in he grabs my arm, thankfully not too forcefully.    "Let go of me! I yell at him, pulling away from him.    "You have to listen to me-"    "Listen to you for what? Congratulations Brian!" I clap sarcastically "You did it! Now you can promote yourself as the best bastard there is!"    "You're putting on a show."    "Really?" Of course I was. With each passing day I grew more desperate. Now I found out about this, that Jake could very possibly be dead, how did I think he was going to react? "You come to see me and tell me that you shot him, how do you want me to react?"    "Is this your confession?" he asks me, placing his arms on his hips.    "Go ahead! Arrest me!" I challenge him "Arrest me and have your companions interrogate me to get information out of me! Is that what you wanted?! Is it what you wanted the most?! With me you could finish it, right? Is that what you think?"     Brian looks at me hurt, then shakes his head. I hold out my hands, expecting some handcuffs.    "What are you waiting for?" I put my hands on his face "Come on!"     Then he does something that surprises me.
Brian is a man of honor, laws and obedient. He is not someone who refuses the first time when he is ordered something. But this time, he refuses. He lowers my hands, looking at me concerned.    "I've investigated your past Macie" I start to get angry, breathing hard ". I know you're like me, someone who follows the law" his voice sounds calm, so I don't get nervous "but this is between us and the hacker, you have nothing to do That's why I want you to know to be careful, not everyone is as nice as me."    "Is a threat?"    "No, it's a warning." He leans against the car and rubs his temples. So far I haven't realized it, but he looks tired. "Macie, you should be careful, there are too many eyes on the situation. And it's not just about my team."    "What do you mean?"    “Very soon they will attack” he whispers, as if he fears they will overhear. ". Trust me, change your phone number, and forget about him. Don't get into any more trouble, it's not something I want for you."     I can’t do this. If I do, it will mean losing contact with Jake.    "Why are you telling me?" I ask defiantly again "Don't you risk losing your job?"    "I'm also risking losing a friend," he says in a sorrowful voice. "Please take my advice before something happens."     I nods and he steps aside, allowing me to get into the car. Brian leaves, and when he does, I put my head on the wheel, crying. It can't be true that Jake was shot, right? Does that mean he might be dead somewhere?
The message notification sound makes me nervous, is it Jake? Please let him be and tell me that he is fine. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Lilly Hi Macie ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now seeing a message from Lilly was a relief. We both cared a lot about Jake and had worked to help him in some way. And well... I don't think it's a good thing to be angry with your possible future sister-in-law... Was it weird to think like that?
I wipe my tears ready to answer it, but I get a strange warning that they were trying to hack me.    "Nymos?" I read on the screen. It seemed to be an antivirus program, which warned me that they were trying to enter my phone. Is this what Brian was hinting at?     I press the 'Reject' button and after a few seconds it manages to prevent them from entering my phone. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Macie Did the same thing just happen to you? Lilly Hm? What do you mean? Macie I got a weird notification Lilly What kind of notification? Can you describe it? Macie You know these antivirus programs, right? Lilly Yes Macie It kind of looked like them I think someone tried hacking me Lilly You don’t think it was Jake, do you Macie No, that wasn't Jake. He protected me Lilly Ok you’ve really confused me now Macie Nymos protected me, that’s all I know Lilly Hm ok, so that means it definitely wasn't Jake himself Omg Macie Do you think it was Jake’s persecutors? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had to tell Lilly about Brian. She is aware that I have a friend who works for the government. We both thought it was nice to have someone around to get information. The problem that I couldn't bring myself to tell Lilly that quite possibly Jake is… I frowned angrily at Brian. No. Jake's not dead, I know. He told me that they would not be able to separate him from me. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Macie I suppose it was It can’t have been anyone else ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Again, a warning pops up. This time they want my location.
I reject it and Nymos manages to stop them. I let out a relieved sigh. It can't be that this is happening now. What are they trying to do? Jake walked away from me, why do they insist on me? ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Lilly Macie? What happened? Please say something 🙁 Macie Someone just tried to access my location Lilly Oh no OK we have to keep calm! Macie But I am calm …So now Lilly You said Nymos somehow blocked the attack, right? Macie Right Lilly So as long as it exists you are safe That’s a start But what does it mean? I always thought that Nymos was just another part of the puzzle Macie You thought wrong then, didn’t you Lilly There’s only one plausible explanation for this Jake knew this would happen And Nymos is the proof for that ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So Jake was extremely careful to show me his computer screen. Perhaps he was even preparing it even on the days we didn't see each other.
The only one who knows about my relationship with Jake is Brian, but would he be able to betray me like this by hacking my phone? But he's warned me to stop, because I haven't been arrested yet… So it's not just the government that's after Jake, right? Any other organization?    "Jake…what did you get yourself into?" I sigh, my hand shaking.
I decide to turn off my phone after finishing with Lilly, so maybe they can't reach me. I should go back to work. They make us come together for the new news that every reporter must cover. Exactly, after my #IAMJAKE article, they decided to raise me one more position due to the success of the article and all I did was divert attention with clues that could seem real or silly, so they could try to find out which one is true and which one is fake. Something like 'Is Jake messing with our minds?' I would at least throw them off track with anything.    "Well, apparently the body that was found in Duskwood finally has a name" Christian plays the video of a news from one of our co-workers this morning ": Amy Bell Lewis" When I talked about it with the group, the coincidence made me curious of Jennifer's case with this one. Both found in the forest. I pay attention taking notes like everyone else. So far they don't seem to find any connection to Hannah Donfort's disappearance. My gut tells me that Amy and Hannah have some connection. It's no coincidence that both girls disappeared almost at the same time and one of them only turned up dead. "So someone has to travel to Duskwood for any news that can be appreciated about this case.”     I begin to notice everyone's eyes on me. Of course... Since I was accused by someone from Duskwood, he thinks that would be something interesting, that the accused risks going to a town where they hate her.    "I'm sorry, but it doesn't seem like a good idea to me" I comment, somewhat uncomfortable ", the people of Duskwood want my head, I can't go to Duskwood-"    "Connors, in the life of a journalist you always have to take all kinds of risks." I look at Brian who has a proud smile. "Now you're with the professionals, wasn't that what you wanted?"    <<I didn't want you to send me to Duskwood when there's a madman with a mask threatening me. >>    "And don't you think it's suspicious that the woman who was accused is now investigating a woman's corpse?" I ask, trying to get rid of the report. In other circumstances, it would seem like an honor, but knowing that I’ m under threat, going to Duskwood for now is not a good idea.    "A festival is going to be held in Duskwood" he sits at the table and presses the remote button, showing a kind of web page with information "Pine Glade, we can use it as an excuse that you are going to do a report about it while you take out information about this case."     That would mean getting into more trouble.
Or… have an excuse to find some connection between the three cases and use it to Jake and my favor… The problem is that I'm going to have to lie in my job saying that I'll take care of it and I can lose it... Let it be what fate wants.    “Okay, I'll do it.” I say finally determined. But at the same time insecure.    "Okay, work will provide you with your travel ticket, tomorrow you'll have to be there "He turns off the screen and claps her hands together "And please don't end up kidnapping another poor girl, will you?" He jokes or… He tries.     Everyone laughs at his joke. I don't find it funny at all. After work, I meet Lian and Aiden for dinner at my house. When they found out that I was going to Duskwood, they got nervous about the situation.    "You should have refused!" Exclaims Lian "Christian wants to lower you position, why did you say yes?    "Christian thinks I'm going to do a report on Amy, but actually I'll do it on the festival" I answered calmly. "Do you think I don't know that it's dangerous for me to ask about the body now?"    "So you said yes… But it's a no." Aiden punctuates my words, confused.    "I'm not crazy enough to know that it is dangerous for me to be in the crosshairs of a police investigation again, besides" I show the screen of my phone an email between the two ", I have spoken personally with the mayor of Duskwood, he has agreed to do a article on Pine Glade as a 'Tour Guide'. And the director of The Vigilant' agrees with my request, he understands what is happening to me and that I should not give our work a bad image."    "Let me guess, that's up to you" Lian points at me with her fork, with a mischievous smile ", only you can convince him that our image is in danger."    "I don't know what you're talking about." I answered, drinking my glass of wine.     They both let out a laugh, amused. Clearly with a small threat in some news programs that have been totally clear with the image in which they wanted to give, they weren’t going to let a possible suspicion about me could ruin them. When I'm finally alone, I watch Jake's video again. It was a pity not to be able to hear his voice. My tears flow from my eyes again. Every time I listened to him, it hurt.    " We will see each other again when the time comes ."    " We will see each other again when the time comes ."     I say the last words of him at the same time. They are what keep me going.
Ah… Cleo wants to talk… I better put myself together... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cleo I still can't believe it's Amy Macie Remember how glad we were that it wasn't Hannah Cleo Of course, I still am I mean… this body just became so real This dead woman got a face ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Amy Bell Lewis… According to Cleo, Amy hadn't been to art class for at least two weeks before Hannah disappeared. The idea that perhaps she was already dead, because there seemed to be no indication that anyone received any notice of her disappeared... She... They killed her... They killed her and no one knew of her disappearance... I can't feel anything other than true sorrow... I found out about Phil's arrest when I was on the train on my way to Duskwood. I hadn't told the group that I was going and I wasn't to surprise them. In part, I was trying to somewhat follow Jake's words about trusting no one. If someone tried to find out my location through my phone, it was better not to talk about where I was. I speak privately with Jessy and the last thing she tells me is that he wants to check something, I hope she doesn't do something crazy because of the arrest of her brother. I'm wearing the sweatshirt I always wore when I went to see Jake. I felt protected thinking that with it, I could go unnoticed like him. I look at a restaurant and when one of the customers opens the door, I get hungry. Chinese food how long since no eat? I sit by the window and smile as I savor the noodles and sweet and sour pork. It seems weird to be here and I'm not even on vacation or sightseeing.
Finally Jessy contacts me. Hopefully it's good news. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jessy Hannah only had one single address saved on her car’s sat nav. And I’m right in front of that house right now Macie How on earth did you get inside her car? Jessy It was just parked in front of her house. So I just asked Lilly for the keys I’ve been meaning to do this for some time But Richy was convinced that Hannah didn't have a sat nav in her car But Lilly did know that she did. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A little strange, since Richy told me that he had gotten into her car and seen that she had a cup with change…    "And a sat nav isn't exactly small." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Macie Is this address is in Duskwood? Jessy No em Ashview Hills It took me a while to get here, but I hope it's worth it ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I finish eating and leave the premises, back to the motel. I'm a little tired and maybe after talking to Jessy, I'll get some sleep. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Jessy Alright I'm going inside Wish me luck 😕 Macie Good luck 😕 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
When I get to the motel, my phone goes on alert again. This time they were trying to access my camera. I reject again, a little calmer to have Nymos protecting me.
Unfortunately, it didn't work.    "What?"     I reject it again and it gives an error again. I must keep calm... I will reject for the third time.
 It doesn’t work!
Two masked men appear on the screen, staring at me at the camera.    "No..." I look around, as if looking for help. What should I do? As much as I now lock myself in the room, they will continue to have access.     One of them pulls out a computer and presses a button. And they try to access my camera. I start to get nervous. Although they didn't appear to be intimidatingly dressed, the fact that they would interrupt my privacy terrified me.    "Jake!" I squeeze the phone hard, exclaiming his name.     The screen starts to glitch and little by little I get relief.    "Macie!"

hi guys! my name is leo, nice to meet y’all. i bring with me im sikyung, the man the myth the bastard. he fills the subplot of the former bully who tried his damndest to turn it around at shinhwa. time would only tell if he turned around, and even so many years later…well, the jury is still out, i guess! please reply to this with anything if you’d like to plot, and my discord is radkxng if anybody would like to message me there. it’s sometimes a bit faster. i’ll be available sparingly here as well! under the cut are some brief biography details and potential plot ideas! i should have his profile and biography done tonight as well, i just wanted to prioritize my intro so we could get to plotting!
Tumblr media
so his mother’s a housewife, but his father is im sungho. he’s a fairly popular actor, known for his gentle smile.
she’s just a noncelebrity, someone he met one night. it’s a fairytale romance for a time, sungho is…suffocatingly sweet.
not that he is a good man, and it’s not long after they tie the knot and little sikyung comes into the world that things take a turn for the worse.
tldr not gonna go into detail but i guess he’s part of the Bad Dad Club. congrats. you have taught your child Violence
things keep spiraling because the family’s reputation is in good name — and sungho has money — until quite predictably things go a little nutso cuckoo. there’s this peer and his old school that sikyung was never able to get along with that he ended up roughing up bad. badly enough to get transferred, even.
at shinhwa, sikyung really does try his best to play his part nicely. he gets into some scuffles here and there, probably gets a fiery reputation, but on the surface it goes…mostly well.
and then he graduates and without anyone to keep him on track, and without any reputation to keep him honest, well.
he can’t hold down a job very well, but it’s fine. he and his father, as much as he despises the bastard, work out a deal. sikyung keeps his mouth shut about what goes on behind closed doors, and sungho keeps his bills paid and his legal trouble nonexistent.
he’s still being a menace, and trying to turn it around, but it is simply sisyphean. idk dude just keep pushing that rock this is a skill issue atp
fun fact this url comes from an epithet of ares's that means bloodstained; i wanted something that highlighted both the roughness of sikyung's and the corruptive nature of his upbringing as well
his real gossip girl secret is that he's badtzmaru's number one fan
he does taekwondo if it matters, he thought it would help and it kind of does but it also kind of doesnt
potential plot ideas!! and pls if there's anything you can think of or if you wanna like, alter one of these we can try to talk it out!
someone who helps inspire him to change for the good
friends who make him Worse
someone who knows his victim/whatever/i am Willing to discuss the exact nature of that situation for the Drama
someone who thinks it’s So Fucking Funny to make sikyung mad for better or worse
someone who even when sikyung was Trying to be nice still got on his bad side - look i love a good long time enemies plot
basically give me DRAUMAUR sikyung is not a nice guy im sorry
he wants to be, desperately, to be honest
but he is not and has no idea how to even approach it

have you ever thought of parallel in vice versa which is that talay was the one wanted to return in their universe the most but he was the one who said 'i miss our time together. can we go back to that universe?' or are you normal. and have you ever thought about that day they went to a cafe for dinner (when talay was hired again at his dream company) and he expected a FUCKING ENGAGEMENT RING from puen? can we talk about how much he really loves puen even though they've known each other for like two and a half years?
I ACTIVELY TRY /NOT/ TO THINK ABOUT IT ACTUALLY BECAUSE IF I DO I GET FILLED WITH SO MUCH UNHINGED EUPHORIC RABID ENERGY THAT IT MAKES ME WANT TO HURL MYSELF INTO A CONCRETE WALL AT THE SPEED OF LIGHT
anon i need you to know that for the past 24 hours i've been trying so hard to reply to your message with something vaguely coherent but my brain seems to completely shut down in front of the sheer immensity of talay's feelings for puen. LIKE!!!!!! he was willing to dive into the ocean if it meant being able to go back to puen!!!!! when just two episodes before that we see him almost having a panic attack while standing in shallow water because that's how he died!!!!! talay DROWNED and yet he was ready to face that again because his love for puen was bigger than his fear!!!!!
and i remember that some people used to say that it was out of character for talay to say he wanted to go back to the alternate universe BUT IT'S NOT!!!!!! like yes, talay missed his life and his family and his friends and his dream job, and knew that they couldn't just steal tess and tun's lives. talay also always does the right thing and puts the feelings of the people he cares about in front of his own, even if it means he's gonna be miserable. however that doesn't mean that deep in his heart he doesn't want to be selfish sometimes: he won't ever act on those selfish feelings, and the proof of it is that he was willing to be miserable for the rest of his life because he didn't want puen to give up on his career for him, but TALAY LOVES HIM!!!!!! SO MUCH!!!!!! AND HE MISSED BEING WITH PUEN IN A MUCH SIMPLER WAY!!!!!! so it's normal that for a moment he wanted to go back!!!!!
and it's so telling that the other time talay says he misses the alternate universe is in the lay's special in episode 12 right after they talk about same sex marriage being legalized in that other thailand!!!!! BECAUSE HERE'S THE THING THAT MAKES ME WANT TO SKYDIVE INTO THE HIMALAYAS WITHOUT PARACHUTE THE MOST: TALAY WANTS TO MARRY PUEN SO BADLY!!!!!!!! usually im so embarrassed at how obvious puen is but this is the one time im actually embarrassed for talay. HE THOUGHT PUEN WAS GONNA GIVE HIM A RING!!!!!! HE GENUINELY WANTED PUEN TO PROPOSE TO HIM AND LOOKED A BIT DISAPPOINTED WHEN THAT WASN'T IT!!!!!! AND IN THE LAY'S SPECIAL HE GETS SO SAD WHEN IT LOOKS LIKE PUEN ISN'T TAKING THE MATTER SERIOUSLY!!!!!!
talay went from being annoyed at the married couple holding up traffic in episode 1 to desperately wanting to marry puen in episode 12. from not believing in love to loving someone so much he wants to spend the rest of his life with them. AND I ABSOLUTELY WILL NEVER BE NORMAL ABOUT IT.

The weather was clear and the stars were out as Riven made her way out of the Fortemps manor. Nodding to the guards on duty, she made her way over to the railing. No one was around to gasp--she was clad in only the thick warm nightgown that was her favorite whenever she was in the city.
Scandalous, that. Showing clavicle and neck. Riven exhaled, leaning on the railing. Closing her eyes, she let the icy chill wash over her-and smiled at the faint gust of air behind her.
"Hi, you."
"You should be in bed." Estinien rumbled. He moved closer, bowing his head to press a kiss to Riven's cheek.
"Couldn't sleep." Riven replied. Estinien watched as she turned to face him, a pensive look on her features.
"I'm...sorry, for what happened. I didn't mean to cause everyone to worry."
"Just don't do it again." Estinien scolded gently. "At least...when it comes to that." That being Mikoto's continued experiments with the Bojzan crystals. A suggestion from Zoisette regarding Riven's memory problems had the brunette revisiting the auri at the Bojzan Resistance Headquarters. When Riven had undergone the procedure to see what the possible problem was...it had ended badly. Mikoto and Mathye daring to venture into Riven's psyche had resulted in her suffering a seizure-like reaction. The two had stopped, and Mathye immediately put his foot down on any more attempts. However Riven had pleaded with Mikoto for one more try--which had yielded even stranger results. Riven had some memories of her childhood-but found it hard to remember her parents' faces. But when it seemingly came to her teenage years--she couldn't remember anything at all, and attempting to with Mikoto's method had triggered the reaction.
Mathye had been less than pleased.
"Not in a hurry, trust me." Riven mummured. She laid her hands on Estinien's chest, curling and uncurling her fingers. Anxiety rose from her in waves, and Estinien frowned.
"Hey." He whispered, catching her hands. Partly to soothe, but also to keep Riven from hyperfocusing on her fingers--a trauma response from her time in the First.
"What's wrong?" Riven didn't immediately respond, drawing in a deep lungful of cold Ishgard air.
"My first two weeks in Limsa...I would wake up from nightmares, every night." She began. "Something...faceless. Formless, reaching out for me. I felt as if I was under attack. Sometimes...I felt trapped. I wanted to go outside...feel the sun, but I couldn't. Something was stopping me." Estinien listened, his own fingers beginning to gently stroke Riven's hands.
"I'd cry. I'd wake up crying--or just burst into tears at random times. Loud noises scared me. And no matter how hard I racked my brain...I couldn't figure out why."
"You were getting used to being someplace safe." Estinien mused. Riven nodded.
"I..was at my wits end. I'd just gotten into the Arcanists' Guild, setting up my housing situation--and this was just...it felt like I had too much on my plate. So I told myself that I was going to figure this out, starting with me finding out just where I came from on the ferry. And then..." Riven trailed off.
"Then?" Estinien prompted. A picture was forming in his own mind--one that made him want to curl his lip and growl, the thought of Riven hurting and alone in a new city...and dealing with trauma recovery. The midlander swallowed.
"...Have you ever had moments where it seems like...the gods, or the universe, or...whatever you believe in, is sending a pointed message about your situation?" She asked, looking up. Estinien hummed, letting go of Riven's hands to wrap his arms around her.
"Aye. Probably the one I remember the most is when I decided to take up the mantle of Azure." He answered. "Everything in that moment seemed seemed crystal clear. That I'd picked the right path." Riven exhaled, feeling the tension slowly bleed out of her. Estinien's presence was warm and comforting, his aether coiling around her senses.
"The day before, I'd gone to pay my respects at a shrine of the Navigator. There was a mother and her child there with an old woman." She said. "I didn't hear all of the conversation, but I heard a little bit from the old woman."
Llymlaen grants second chances. The sea and the wind let you become new once more.
"That stuck in my head." Riven whispered. "The next day, I went to the ferry-docks, and I found out about the fire. And I remembered the words of the old woman, and..."
"You felt it was a sign." Estinien finished. "The goddess telling you not to look back." Riven nodded.
"I took it to heart. I left, and I threw myself into the Arcanists' Guild. The nightmares eventually stopped, as did the tears, and soon it seemed like my past wasn't important. The rest..." She shrugged. "You know." Estinien hummed, moving his hands to Riven's shoulders.
"For the record, I feel I should add to the growing consensus." He said, moving his hands to gently cradle Riven's face.
"Whatever thing happened in your past--whatever you might have done, it does not matter now. It does not matter to the Scions, it does not matter to Augustine and the others, it does not matter to the Fortemps. It does not matter to the hundreds and thousands of lives you have saved." Tears sprang to Riven's eyes, and Estinien continued.
"And it does not matter to me." He finished, pressing a gentle kiss to the midlander's forehead. "It is the sharp-tongued, demon-summoning madwoman that I fell in love with. To her past self, battered and bruised from whatever hell she escaped from, I bid that she only rests in comfort and peace."

Tender, Loving Care
Summary: You need to have your nose fixed and Sam is there to take care of you
 Word Count:
Pairings: Sam Wilson x Female Reader
Warnings: Mentions of surgery and pain, tiny bit of angst if you squint, mentions of showering
A/N: I recently had my sinuses fixed which inspired this little fic
You had been plagued by a myriad number of nasal troubles and after your nose had taken a hit on a recent mission, they had only gotten worse. It eventually got to the point you had to go in for surgery to have everything fixed. Sam was fully supportive of you no matter what.
The morning of your operation finally came around. You squeezed Sam’s hand as you waited for them to call your name.
“You okay, Y/N?” he asked, eyes full of concern.
“I’m nervous, Sam. I know this will help me in the long run but… I just can’t help thinking about those medical shows… you know, where they come out with black eyes and sometimes they have reactions or they badly wreak the nose itself…”
“I told you not to watch those shows last night…”
 “I know but…”
Before you could finish your thought, the doctors called your name to go in.
“I’ll be right there when you come out,” Sam promised.
You gave him one last kiss before heading in.
The waiting for news was unbearable for Sam. First one hour passed, then two and three. He paced the halls, grabbed a coffee, did some more pacing before finally coming to a stop in the maternity ward. There was something he found calming watching the new lives sleep and wiggle in their little cribs, hearing them make their tiny voices heard.
 “I thought I might find you here…”
Sam turned to see his sister.
“Hey… what are you doing here?” Sam asked, giving her a hug.
“Thought you could do with the moral support,” she replied.
Sam’s attention turned back to the newborns. Sarah put her arm around him and smiled softly.
“You’re still the same. Remember when Gramps got sick? Nobody could find you for hours and there you were, staring at the babies…”
Sam’s eyes teared up and his jaw tightened.
“I just keep thinking… what if… I mean, I know it’s a standard procedure but what if something goes wrong? What if she…” Sam couldn’t bring himself to finish the sentence.
“Y/N is strong and stubborn, just like you. Do you think something like this can take her down? You’re dreaming,” she teased with a playful punch of his arm.
 “I know you’re right, but-”
“No. No buts. Y/N will pull through. She’s your wife after all.”
Sam sighed and rubbed his arm.
“You still hit hard,” he complained.
“I want you to remember that the next time you get one of those stupid ideas in your head,” she grinned.
It was sunset by the time you were finally rolled into recovery. Sarah had gone home to collect the boys when school finished leaving Sam on his own for a while but messaged him regularly. Surprisingly, you weren’t feeling nearly half as bad as you thought you would. After answering the doctor’s questions and the nurses helping you with your IV drip, Sam was finally allowed in.
“Hi, baby. How are you feeling?”
Sam walked over to you, gently kissing your head and petting your hair.
 “Not too bad… I thought I’d be much worse…”
“Yeah? You don’t look too bad. There’s no bruising or anything,” he reassured you.
 “Really? That’s good…”
You felt drained and lightheaded as the painkillers kicked in but you weren’t completely out of it. Just having him near you lifted your spirits greatly.
“Sarah and the boys send their love, by the way,” he informed you.
“Give them a big hug from me next time you see them, okay?”
 “I will.”
Sam helped you to eat the dinner they provided you when they brought it to you and stayed for as long as they allowed him to.
“Sir, I’m afraid visiting hours are over now,” a nurse told him when it was time.
“Okay. I promise you I’ll be back to get you first thing tomorrow. I love you.”
 “I love you too, Sam.”
Once he was out the door, you desperately willed yourself not to cry in fear of damaging something or dehydrating yourself. This began one of the longest nights of your life.
The next morning, Sam kept to his promise and collected you the moment you were discharged.
“How are you feeling this morning? Have you eaten yet?” Sam questioned as he guided you to the car.
“Still not too bad. I didn’t get much sleep last night but they gave me some painkillers this morning along with my breakfast,” you groggily replied, handing him the aftercare instructions.
Sam took them and helped you into the car before reading the list. Whatever he had to do to help make your life easier, Sam would do it in a heartbeat.
Once you arrived home, Sam gently guided you inside.
“What do you want to do, baby? Do you want to sleep? Sit and watch TV?” he asked, his voice full of concern.
 “I wanna take a shower… I feel all gross…”
“Okay. Let’s get you all cleaned up.”
Sam followed you to the bathroom and helped you to undress. He turned the shower on and made sure it wasn’t too hot before letting you get in.
 “Sammy?”
 “Yes, baby?”
“Can you… help me some more? I feel a little woozy and I’m not allowed to bend my head down…”
 “Of course…”
Sam himself undressed and joined you, gently washing your hair and assisting in whatever else you asked him to do.
After you were all clean, Sam got out and dried you off, once again helping you with dressing before getting you settled comfortably on the couch.
 “You need anything else?”
 “Just cuddles…”
 Sam smiled softly.
“I can certainly do that,” he replied, sitting down next to you and letting you snuggle up to him.
“I feel bad you have to take care of me,” you muttered.
“Y/N, look at me,” Sam ordered.
Carefully, you shifted your position to look at him.
“You’re my wife and I love you. I made a promise to always take care of you, sickness and in health. I would bend over backwards to see you smile, fight a whole army to keep you safe. No matter what, we’re in this together.”
You couldn’t help but smile at his words.
 “I love you too.”
That night, Sam was awoken by the sound of bumping. He reached over to your side of the bed to find you weren’t resting on your pillow pile that he set up for you.
“Y/N?” he asked, sitting up in bed, trying to figure out where exactly you were.
 “I can’t… I can’t find the door… I need the bathroom,” you meekly whined.
You were tired and disoriented in the dark and spent the last few moments fumbling around for a handle.
“Honey, that’s the closet… I’ll help you get to the bathroom.”
Sam got out of bed and guided you to the right door and to the bathroom. Once again, you were grateful you married someone as wonderful as Sam.
Sam was absolutely wonderful for the next two weeks. He made you your favourite meals, made sure your sinus rinses were at the right temperature, took care of your needs. Not once did he ever make you feel like a burden to him. By the time your next appointment rolled around, you were feeling pretty good and you knew you couldn’t have done it without the support of your loving husband.

—————
Ladybug had considered what to say multiple times over the day she'd had to think about it. She'd thought about all the different ways she could've said it, and what would've been the most effective when who she was talking to was taken into account.
However, sitting there on the rooftops with Chat Noir, there was a point where she just had to say it, no matter how it came out.
"Give me your miraculous."
Chat jerked his head over to her, jarred from the silence and eyes wide as his brain seemed to process the statement. Ladybug, meanwhile, stared ahead at the night sky, as if she hadn't said anything out of the ordinary.
After a few more seconds, she got a reply in the form of laughter, Chat buckling over with a hand on his stomach. "That's quite the Hawk Moth impression, Bugaboo!" he exclaimed, though calming himself enough to give her a half-lidded gaze and add, "But you don't have to do that to impress me, you know."
She didn't reply, only turning to look at him with her expression entirely flat, not showing any reaction to the mixture of teasing and flirting.
He was still grinning for a while, but as the silence dragged on, he began to falter. "...Ah—" He shook his head, leaning towards her and trying to force a smirk. "—if you want a wish that badly, all you need to do is say the word, m'lady! I can grant all your wishes."
She remained stoic, maintaining eye contact with him but not encouraging his banter. She could practically hear the gears turning in his head as it became clear to him that she was very much not joking.
One of Chat's ears twitched in confusion. He leaned back to his normal distance from her, seeming at a loss for what to say now that the atmosphere was finally registering with him.
Ladybug took a breath, noting that she had his attention. She straightened and looked back over Paris, saying, "I can't do this anymore."
He followed her gaze, squinting as if the answer would be written out there in bold letters for him. "Being a hero?"
"No, us. Us being partners." While he gaped at her, she stared down at her lap, her hands clutching her thighs as if that would give her some sense of stability. "...Chat, do you think this is a game?"
Chat shifted and rubbed the back of his neck, clearly not having expected the conversation to go here. It was hard to tell whether he was trying to keep things light or if it was just his genuine reply when he responded, "W-well, I'm definitely in it to win if that's what you mean—"
"I talked to Xavier Ramier today."
She watched his expression carefully, his hand leaving his neck and hovering awkwardly in the air as he looked at her. He seemed puzzled, not knowing what this had to do with the conversation, though his brows rose briefly like he'd remembered something.
She continued, trying not to show too much in her reaction as she explained, "Since I'm not as busy right now, I thought I'd check in on some of the people who got akumatized but I didn't have time for earlier. He was one of them." Idly, she pulled out her yoyo, almost mindlessly tapping away at it as she navigated through the various menus. "He said you came by to check on him a while ago; said that you were sitting there, just enjoying the day with him. He told me that you asked him if he missed being Mister Pigeon, or if he was feeling any negative emotions."
"I—" Chat tried to interject.
She didn't hear him, too focused on telling the story. "Then I asked him when you showed up, and he didn't know exactly when, but..." She showed him her yoyo, the messages Chat had sent clearly being timestamped for reference. "I figured out from what his rough guess and asking around that it was when you were supposed to be on patrol."
"I was on patrol!" Chat protested. "I was just checking up on him."
"You were relaxing on a bench," Ladybug reminded him., her tone remaining consistently flat. Snapping her yoyo shut and returning it to her hip, she added, "I even asked around and people told me they saw you go into the Grand Paris Hotel. I heard from one of the butlers there that you were sulking, and got excited when you saw Chloe and Sabrina fighting."
He opened his mouth to explain himself, but she could tell that he was struggling to come up with an excuse; he honestly believed that she'd never find out about any of this.
"I trusted you, Chat. I trusted you to cover for me when I'm not there, no matter what." She needed to swallow back her emotions for that one. "Why would you do that? Why would you hope for akuma to happen? Why would you lie to me?"
"I didn't!" Chat insisted, waving his arms frantically. "I—see... it was an off day! I was just—you know I can always do my best around you, and I did patrol! I just... made a few stops along the way! I wouldn't lie to you!"
"So you don't lie to me," she stated cautiously, "and you've never lied against me."
"Of course not!" he assured.
She paused for effect, just long enough for him to grow uneasy, then said, "Theo Barbot waved me down a while back."
Chat visibly cringed, and she could hear a hissing sound as he sucked in a breath.
"He wanted to congratulate me. He saw the picture of us kissing on the Ladyblog and said that he was glad we could finally go public about our relationship." Her gaze sharpened even as she stared at nothing in particular. "I asked what he meant, and he told me that you said that we were a thing. He said that that's what got him akumatized."
"It wasn't..." He averted his gaze. "...a lie exactly."
In response, Ladybug stood, throwing her arms outwards as emotion began to seep into her voice. "This is about more than lies, Chat; it's about everything! If you can only do your best around me, then what happens if an akuma gets me?" She didn't need him to answer. "You'll lose it. I need someone who I know will take care of things even if I'm captured."
"I would!" Chat retorted he stood up, the nervousness now showing on his face. "I would do everything to get you back, I—"
"Party Crasher," she cut in without missing a beat.
He recoiled like she'd physically struck him.
"And it's not just that I can't rely on you if I'm taken out; I can't rely on you not to take yourself out," she said pointedly, turning away from him and taking a few steps away to distance herself. "You're always throwing yourself in front of me and sacrificing yourself, sometimes when you don't even have to and always without just talking to me about it! Do you have any idea how that feels? You tell me all the time that you'll listen to me and how I'm the planner here, and then you go and make plans without me."
She heard Chat's hurried footsteps from behind her as he tried to match her pace and argue, "It's not like that! It's just—it's because..."
She turned just as he reached her, her stern gaze making him stop. "Because my anger is so irresistible?" she asked. "I'm just so adorable when I'm mad that you won't listen to me?" She advanced on him, forcing him back. "Thanks, Chat, that makes me feel so much better that you can't take me seriously because you just love me that much," she said sarcastically.
"That's not what I meant!" he argued, though at that point it seemed like all he could do was weakly protest that he didn't mean anything that way. "I'm only teasing, Bugaboo!"
"Then what do you really mean?" She clenched her fists at her side. "I've told you to stop calling me Bugaboo and you never do! You're too busy bantering and talking about our relationship to focus on the fight, and when that kiss happened - the one that happened because you got shot by Oblivio and I had to save you - you laughed at me for being upset and you didn't care. I'm tired of having to deal with all of that; I'm dealing with enough as guardian!" Reminded of her own status, she steeled herself up and held a hand out to him, managing to calm down enough to say, "Now, revoke your miraculous. I'll give it to someone else."
Chat retreated, his hand moving to cover his ring protectively. The nervousness had partially faded away into him being generally upset, though he also didn't try to defend his actions anymore. "You... if you give the ring to someone else, you'll know their identity!"
"I've already got a plan for that," Ladybug stated, holding her hand out more insistently.
Because of course she did. She wouldn't have been doing any of this if she hadn't given it a lot of thought first. There were pros and cons to bringing in a new cat, and when she really weighed it all together, this was the only way forward. Chat wouldn't learn, and she'd been stuck in a limbo of shouting at him, being ignored, and having to push down her feelings in the future or risk damaging their teamwork. She'd devalued herself - devalued her emotions - in order to believe that she could make it work because she needed him.
Except, she didn't. She needed a cat; someone to use the more active miraculous to balance out the lack of firepower that the ladybug miraculous had. It wasn't that it could be just anyone, but it certainly didn't have to be Chat. While she deeply regretted going back on one of Master Fu's decisions when he couldn't even have a say in it anymore, the fact of the matter was that she was the guardian and she made the rules.
Chat backed away a few more steps, his eyes darting around as he sought a way out of the situation. Then, facing Ladybug, a mixture of upset and offended, he argued, "We're a team! We still come out fine no matter what happened! You don't even know my identity, I've kept it a secret just like you wanted!"
He was reaching, and they both knew it. That had always been the reason for revoking someone's miraculous: someone else knowing their identity. However, there were reasons beyond that, and them "coming out fine" from a battle was hardly a high bar for someone getting to keep theirs. Ladybug knew that well enough after having dealt with Miracle Queen; even if Chloe's identity hadn't been revealed, she was still a bad person who felt entitled to a miraculous.
But Ladybug also understood the game Chat was playing at: that it wouldn't be right to take his miraculous when he's protected his identity. The logic was flawed, but she nonetheless crossed her arms and gave him a blank look, staring into his green cat eyes and starting to fit pieces of a metaphorical puzzle together.
Kung Food, Horrificator, and Startrain: those at minimum were times where Chat's civilian form had to have been inside at the time the akuma happened. Chat had also mistaken Francoise Dupont for an elementary school after they'd defeated Kwamibuster, but she mentally acknowledged that he could've been lying. He had to have been, if they were trapped in that building together with Horrificator. It narrowed things down significantly, and she knew that he had to have been a teenager like her due to the timer on his miraculous.
And while she was aware that Chat's green eyes meant nothing considering that she got green eyes as Lady Noire, there were little coincidences sprinkled throughout their history together that didn't add up unless she came to one final conclusion.
Chat showing up at the museum even though he'd have no way of knowing that an akuma could've been there. Chat knowing that Volpina's illusion was fake. Chat's mysterious loss of his miraculous when Style Queen was attacking.
The feather allergy.
Then, Ladybug glanced at the hand he was covering; the one she knew had the cat miraculous on his right ring finger. She almost felt like congratulating herself for constantly resisting the temptation, because when she actually thought about it, it was so obvious.
She knew that hand, as she'd seen it so many times. She had pictures of it plastered all over her wall and the realization made her feel sick, her heart dropping as opposed to skipping a beat.
"...Adrien Agreste," she said finally. "You're Adrien Agreste."
He blinked, his expression blank at first before dread started to take its place. His mouth slowly fell open, words trying to escape but there weren't any to be found.
She let the moment drag, stepping forward to close the distance between them. Adrien's face flashed over Chat Noir's for a moment and she swallowed, summoning all of her confidence to address him properly.
"Tell me, Adrien. Tell me that this hasn't been a game for you. Tell me that you wanted to protect Paris all this time. Tell me that this hasn't all been about you."
She waited, not expecting or hoping for any answer in particular, because it no longer mattered; the conclusion would the same regardless.
Ultimately, she got no reply, and within the next ten minutes, the cat miraculous was in her hands and Adrien was promptly taken home.
—————
Marinette took a breath of the cool night air, having chosen to walk home rather than get there as Ladybug. She needed time to think, and walking helped her clear her head from the rush of everything that'd happened.
Her purse rustled, Tikki popping out and leaning off the side to look up at her. "Is everything okay, Marinette?"
"Yeah." She nodded her head, just to reassure Tikki further. "It was for the best. It's a lot, but... I wanted to do it; for me, and for Paris."
Regardless of how many emotions she had to deal with, she was glad she knew. She supposed that she could've taken Chat's miraculous without seeing his identity - though it would've been complicated - but it helped her sort through so many thoughts in her mind.
She let out half of a chuckle, idly thinking that she dodged a bullet. If dating Adrien would've turned him into any level of Chat Noir - or, honestly, just knowing that he was Chat Noir - then it was definitely for the best that she figured out his identity. She wasn't sure how she'd behave around him the following days, but just the idea of things being any semblance of "normal" in the face of "the famous model Adrien Agreste," with no stutters or freak-outs...
It was nice, making everything feel a little brighter. Maybe Alya would even stop claiming that she's just "jealous" of Lila, the girls would stop teasing her so much, and she could put all that time she used to spend thinking about Adrien into something more productive. There hadn't seemed to be a downside in sight, actually.
As Marinette kept thinking on the subject, her gaze wandered off to the side, taking in the sights around her, and she paused when she noticed that she was right next to the Seine. The revelation didn't surprise her - she knew she'd have to pass by it to get home - but it did inevitably remind her of Luka, especially since they'd broken up only a day ago.
The metaphorical wound was still fresh, not helped by the fact that Lies had come right afterward as if to remind her of why she had to break up with him; she couldn't have a normal life, and she certainly couldn't have a boyfriend. It didn't matter if she loved Luka and he loved her back, because she would always have to leave their dates at the first sign of an akuma.
Yet, nevertheless, there was some form of comfort in staring out at the river, and she found herself traveling down the nearest set of stairs to walk right next to the Seine instead of so far above it, her eyes trailing along the surface of the water to search for the Liberty.
It took a few minutes of walking, almost making her wonder if she'd passed it without realizing, but then she saw the ship resting in the water, right where it always was. She approached, taking in the various colors and the silly rainbow weathervane, her body automatically relaxing at the memories of those two weeks of crafting kittycorn-themed costumes from paper mache.
Curiously, she noticed that the gangplank was up, as someone presumably had forgotten to pull it back before going to bed that night. Marinette walked over, crouching down and wondering idly if it was possible that it had been put up but had just fallen over at some point, yet it was clearly set perfectly in place.
Mentally trashing the thought, she placed her hands on her knees and started getting up. As she straightened her back, her eyes involuntarily scanned over the deck of the ship, a familiar color palette of blues, blacks, and whites registering in her mind before she fully recognized what—who it was. Her eyes locked onto the figure, and she had to slap a hand over her mouth to prevent herself from letting out a yelp.
It was Luka, sitting down on an instrument case with his guitar in his lap, though Marinette noted after a moment that he was actually asleep. Concern furrowed her brows as she took in his posture, one of his arms resting on the case while the other was perched on the guitar's base. His back was arched against the taffrail of the ship and his head was tilted back to the point where his hair was falling into his face.
There was no way that was comfortable.
Marinette hesitated, feeling almost like she was trespassing, then gave Tikki a look to hide inside the purse while she walked across the gangplank Any footsteps against the deck of the ship seemed unusually loud due to the otherwise quiet night, but Marinette tried to ignore it, approaching Luka cautiously so as not to startle him.
He was frowning, and she involuntarily copied the expression onto her own face. Outside of the bumps in their dates and the break-up itself, it was rare to see him as anything but calm or happy, and she got the distinct feeling that it wasn't just because he was asleep that he was making that face.
She reached up, lightly fixing his hair in case to try and keep it out of his eyes when he woke up, then lowered her hand to his shoulder. She gave him a light shake, then another with a little more effort when the first failed to stir him. When that failed as well, she leaned close, looking side to side like she was afraid someone would see her and think she was doing something strange. However, no one else was around, allowing her to safely whisper his name to him.
"Luka."
She stiffened when she got an immediate response to that, Luka letting out a low humming noise as he shifted. She jolted back, trying to give him space and blushing at the thought that shaking hadn't woken him in the slightest but her voice had immediately.
Luka's eyes opened halfway, staring blankly up at the sky. Brows lowering in confusion, he tried to move, though a whine escaped him when his body protested at the uncomfortable position he'd gotten himself into. He winced, but eased forward and leaned on his guitar for support, only then looking forward and meeting her gaze.
She shifted in place, feeling awkward but knowing that it was too late to back out now.
"...Mmmarinette?" he asked, squinting like he wasn't really sure she was there. He blinked a few times, his eyes widening a fraction when he confirmed that she was real. "Marinette?"
"Ah—hi," she replied, waving awkwardly. "Um, sorry, it was just—I was walking, and I saw you, and you were sleeping weird—not that you sleeping is weird or you look weird when you sleep!—but you seemed really uncomfortable so I just..." She gestured vaguely at his current state of awareness.
He let out a tired sound that may've been an "oh," then ran his fingers into his hair and rustled it, like he was attempting to shake the tiredness out of himself. That done, he managed a small smile at her that didn't stretch anywhere near the amount it usually would. "Thank you. I'm glad you care about me that much."
"Of course I do!" she blurted out, a little offended at the idea that she wouldn't. She realized belatedly how loud she'd been and rubbed an arm in embarrassment, but didn't take anything back either.
Deep down, she knew where he was coming from. It must've been hard for him to watch her ditch him and then deal with her ending their relationship with next to no explanation. Even with the confidence he constantly radiated, not having any information on the 'how's or 'why's must've been difficult, and she hated keeping secrets from him.
Even Chat got better than that...
Luka tilted his head at her, the anxiety probably written all across her face. Concerned, he began to ask, "...Is everything—"
"Luka," she called suddenly, straightening to face him fully. "I—" She swallowed, needing a few seconds to compose herself. "I know this is a bad time, because I'm not really supposed to be here, and you can say 'no,' but... can we talk? About what happened?"
She bit her lip nervously as he sat up, his body noticeably more awake than before. She felt like he deserved to know more about the whole situation, but he also had every right to refuse her for waiting - even if it wasn't that long ago - so the possibilities were nerve-wracking.
Thankfully though, Luka relaxed after a moment, lifting his guitar out of his lap to set it aside, the bottom of the body resting on the deck of the Liberty while the neck was supported by the taffrail. Settling his hands in his lap, he then gave her his full attention, even offering a soft look of reassurance.
Her shoulders eased; he was going to hear her out. Part of her almost felt bad, wondering if maybe he was forcing himself, but she also knew it was important for him to get closure on the matter.
"Okay..." She breathed, acknowledging to herself that she hadn't planned this is the slightest. After some internal debate, she sat down on the deck of the Liberty in lieu of a proper seat, earning a look from Luka but no further comment otherwise. Running her hands along her capris, she stared up at him and finally began, "It—it wasn't you."
He raised a brow, silently encouraging her to go on.
"I mean, maybe you weren't worried about that, but I just... I needed you to know that." She shrugged half-heartedly. "You didn't do anything wrong, Luka - you're amazing - and if it wasn't for me always having to leave and rush off and make you feel bad, I would've stayed with you."
"...Really?"
She blinked at his tone, the corners of her lips quirking up as he covered his mouth, clearly not having intended to blurt that out. She simply nodded at him, falling back into her serious state as she continued, "You deserve someone who can be dedicated to you, and I just—I can't, and I can't tell you why either." She slumped, ashamed at the secret she was forced to keep. "I wish I could. I do trust you, but it's not about that. It's—" She pursed her lips, struggling to find the right words. "—it's not really something I can say?"
She dropped her gaze to her lap, but didn't miss the flicker of understanding in his eyes. It was important to her, for him to know that she believed in him and that he'd done everything right in their relationship.
"...Are—" Luka paused, voice laced with worry. "Marinette, are you being blackmailed or something?"
She almost laughed at that. His deduction wasn't entirely wrong, as "go defend Paris from a supervillain and tell no one about it, and if you do then they might be in danger," certainly did sound like blackmail. Still, she shook her head, reassuring, "It's nothing like that. I'm sorry. I really want to tell you, a-and even be with you, but I can't do either." She clutched at her knees in an attempt to ground herself, glancing back up at him with a mixture of sorrow and guilt. "I don't know what you see in me, Luka, but I feel so lucky that you like me so much, and then unlucky because—" She choked briefly, her cheeks heating up as she realized that she'd never said the exact words to him before. "—because I like you too and I want it to be that simple but it's not. You want the truth and the truth is that I can't tell you no matter how much I want to. I know I forget things and had to skip out on dates because I was so stressed out, but you made everything fun and not stressful and I loved every date we went on until... you know." She gestured wildly to imply 'unsaid things happening.'
He was quiet, not showing any particular reaction, though she'd spent enough time with him to know that he was glad that she was talking more openly about it and clearing some things up that he might've been wondering about. His expression seemed blank on the surface but he was relieved to know something even if her words were pulling his emotions in every direction.
Mentally preparing herself for the next step, Marinette pushed herself up and walked over to him, finding it hard to meet Luka's gaze even as she hunched over and boldly placed her hands on top of his. Out of the corner of her vision, she could see his eyes searching her face, not knowing what to expect next.
"...I'm sorry," she murmured. "I know I apologized already but I'm sorry. I should've known things would end up like this but I wanted to date you anyway. I can't even tell you when this is all going to end so I can't ask you to wait for me either because it's not fair. You deserve a relationship that isn't so complicated... that doesn't involve me."
She flinched at the emotional punch to the gut she'd just given herself. She'd already known that dating would be near-impossible so long as she was Ladybug, but it was a completely different feeling to face Luka and say it to his face. She wasn't sure if she'd been his first crush, but the thought left a bitter taste in her mouth that it'd all gone so wrong and there was no hope of getting it back.
She took another breath to calm herself, slowly raising her hands away from his. "Anyway, that's all I wanted to say," she murmured, still not making eye contact with him. "Thanks for trying to show me a good time, Luka, but... maybe you should fall in love with someone else."
She turned away before her emotions could get the better of her, about to walk off when a hand suddenly grabbed her wrist and jerked her back. She squeaked in surprise, glancing behind her to see that Luka was on the edge of the instrument case, arm stretched out like he'd impulsively hurried to stop her. She opened her mouth to ask what he was doing, but he spoke first.
"Why?"
"W...why?" she echoed.
"Why should I fall for someone else?" he asked, his tone somewhere between hurt and serious.
"Ah." She tilted her head, confused and with no idea of what he was getting at. "Because of everything I said?"
"That you enjoyed our dates? That it wasn't us who cut the song short?" His other hand reached up, holding her hand as well while he looked at her tenderly. His voice grew quiet, like he couldn't believe what he was saying. "That you like me?"
Marinette blushed, but found it hard to look away from him this time. "I...I do like you. Um—only you, but—Luka, the dates..."
Luka slowly stood up, gently squeezing her hand in a show of support. "I didn't even think that I'd be taking up too much of your time, Marinette. I wanted to be together with you, but I didn't want it to be hard either." He offered her a lopsided smile, adding, "And I'm glad you told me, because I don't think you being busy means we can't be together."
"...What?" Marinette gaped at him in disbelief. "I thought you said that you wanted the truth, and—"
"You gave it to me," he reminded her. "You said you can't tell me and I believe you."
She waved her free hand wildly. "Y-yeah, and I'll have to run off and we'll never know when!"
"Then we don't have to date, or we don't have to date as much." He'd said it like it was the simplest thing in the world, and maybe it was. "Why should we be playing sad solos when we can play a happy duet instead?"
She went to retort, but he'd so swiftly shot down her arguments that she was left speechless. She hadn't even considered that - trying to compromise with him on their dates - because she thought she wouldn't be worth it for him, yet here he was, offering himself to her again now that everything had been laid out for him. It seemed too good to be true, but...
He was her Second Chance, and every moment she spent with him just reaffirmed why she'd adored being given that chance in the first place.
She made a small noise as she tried to hold back emotion, her hand shaking in his. "You want me that much?"
His smile grew wider and more genuine, clearly recognizing that she was about to accept him. "Yeah. Do you want me too?"
Afraid her voice might crack and ruin the moment, she nodded and turned fully towards him. She held out her other hand for him and he took it happily, both of them able to enjoy each other's company once more.
Once things had properly settled down, she held back a shy giggle and asked, "S-so, do we just... pick up where we left off? Or just—before everything started going wrong?"
He hummed, seeming to honestly think about it. "I guess so. What verse do you want to start from?"
She retraced all of the bad dates in her mind, like she were rewinding a movie. One moment in particular stuck out to her, and she tried not to grin too much as she suggested, "The cinema? After I gave you the necklace?"
She didn't have to clarify any further, his eyes lighting up in remembrance. He grinned and leaned down to be closer to her level, her getting up on her tiptoes to meet him halfway in a kiss, thus finishing what they'd started from what felt like forever ago. She could feel Luka's hands caressing hers, as if to reassure that everything was alright and he was happy.
She waited until the kiss broke apart, then looked at him to ask teasingly, "Better than setting up a whole date to do that?"
He pressed his forehead to hers, sighing happily. "Definitely."
She beamed at him, almost tempted to kiss him again before she remembered what time it was. She gasped, inadvertently surprising him with the sound, then recoiled and placed her hands firmly on his shoulders, sitting him back down on the instrument case.
"You need to sleep!" she told him, then corrected a second later, "But—not here! Not right here anyway! It needs to be in a bed! Your bed!"
He laughed at the abrupt shift in tone, but nodded obediently at her, resting his fingers along her wrists. "I will. You'll sleep too, right?"
She nodded back, her heart skipping a beat at his care for her. "Yeah, I promise."
Her hands lingered on him, as did his with her as she pulled away from him. As much as she would've liked to stay with him, it was late and she still had a lot to take care of.
Rushing across the gangplank, she waited until she was safely on the other side so she wouldn't risk tripping as she turned to face him, walking backward and waving excitedly. "Bye, Luka!"
He suppressed a chuckle at the happiness-induced loudness of her voice, then waved back at her. It was only when he got up to take his guitar inside that she finally turned around and started officially heading home.
—————
When the last of the Adrien photos had been shoved into her trash bin - even the ones on her corkboard - Marinette allowed herself to breathe a sigh of relief and collapse into her chair. It'd taken a little longer than she'd thought, but she was still satisfied with the change. The walk home and conversation with Luka had brought all of her thoughts together and made her feel optimistic about how the day had gone.
"Marinette?" Tikki looked up from the chocolate chip she'd been nibbling on, her being the only kwami awake at that hour. Voicing the inevitable, she asked, "What are you going to do about the cat miraculous?"
Marinette turned, acknowledging her, then reached into her purse to pull out the ring in question, turning it a few times in her hands. It was weird having it in her possession while she still had the ladybug earrings on, but it wouldn't stick around for long anyway, so she wasn't concerned.
Tikki continued, an urgency in her voice, "You're Ladybug, and you're not supposed to know anyone's identities, but you're also the guardian now, so you're supposed to give out miraculouses and know everyone's identities!"
Marinette, much to Tikki's apparent surprise, flashed her a smile and held the ring up confidently. "That's exactly why you're going to pick the next cat, Tikki."
Tikki blanked, dropping the chocolate chip in shock. "Wh—me?" Her voice squeaked. "Why me?"
Marinette would be lying if she said that she didn't find some amusement in Tikki's befuddlement. With a bit of effort, she pushed herself up from her seat, setting the ring down on the table and walking towards the sink at the other side of the room. "Because you've been with every ladybug who's ever existed, which means that you've known every ladybug and cat duo that's ever existed." Giving Tikki an expectant look, she added, "If anyone knows what kind of cat I'd need as a partner, it's you."
"But—" Tikki floundered, the thought clearly having never occurred to her. "It's the guardian who has to hand out miraculouses!"
"I won't know the new cat's identity this way," Marinette reminded her, idly tracing her fingertips along the sink's edge. "Sure, it'll be someone we both know, but if I didn't figure out that Adrien is Chat Noir until I tried, then I won't figure out this one either."
Her eyes scanned over the various drawers in her reach and she pulled open one in particular, a small box jerking forward from the momentum. It was the same box that held her ladybug earrings all those months ago, and now it would be the box for the new cat as well.
Holding the box to her chest and silently wishing luck upon it, Marinette returned to her table to see Tikki staring quietly at the ring in thought, apparently still processing what she'd been told. Marinette paid her no mind for the moment, setting the box down and searching various other drawers for a white cloth big enough for the box to be wrapped in. Then, once she'd successfully found one, she laid it out neatly on the table and opened the box to place the ring inside.
The moving of the ring snapped Tikki out of whatever trance she'd been in. She flew up, clinging to Marinette's hand and begging, "Wait! At least tell me what you'd want in a cat!"
Marinette supposed that was a win, since Tikki wasn't outright rejecting the idea and had little argument against it. She dropped the ring inside the box and smiled at the gentle 'click' it made when she closed it, then turned to address Tikki. The nervousness on display made a modicum of sense when considering that kwami were supposed to obey the guardian, so being told to do what they wanted was probably a little strange.
Marinette just took it in stride. She leaned against her chair as she considered her ideal cat, having been so used to Chat Noir that she needed a minute to imagine someone who really matched her.
"Thoughtful," she answered, nearly blurting the word out when it finally came to her. "Someone who thinks the way I do so I'm not doing everything myself. They can be selfless, but they have to have limits, and with good instincts so they won't throw themselves in front of me." Her expression growing fond at the idea of such a partner, she took the cloth and wrapped the box in it, sealing it with a strong knot as she added, "And... they have to be understanding, where I can cover for them and they can cover for me and we'll just—click."
She snapped her fingers for effect, watching as Tikki flew over to the wrapped-up box and tested it to ensure it was safe to carry. While she was tugging at the knot to confirm it was tight enough, Marinette stood and headed up the stairs to her bed, opening the way to her balcony so Tikki had a way out.
By the time Marinette peeked over the bed to check on Tikki, Tikki had already taken hold of the cloth and flew up to be eye level with her, the box being a noticeable yet manageable weight. Marinette moved to the side, allowing the straight-faced Tikki to go past her and go up to the balcony.
Thinking that Tikki had already gone, Marinette was about to close the trapdoor when she heard a soft, "Marinette?"
Her head turned to see Tikki, hovering above the little table with the box still held in her paws. She seemed conflicted, like she was struggling to find words, but eventually settled on, "You're a great guardian."
And with that, she left, Marinette blinking in surprise for a moment before a smile formed on her face. She closed the way to her balcony, then slipped back down the stairs to start getting ready for bed.
At the same time she'd be settling in to sleep that night, her tiny Miracle Box would be set down delicately in the Liberty, specifically on Luka Couffaine’s amp.

Rumors
Corpse Husband x Bimbo!Reader (Female)
Warnings: Mentions of Slut Shaming, Swearing
Genre: Fluff, Tiniest bit of Angst, RPF (Real Person Fic)
Summary: When some rumors start floating around, every content creator does their best to either ignore them or defuse the situation. However, sometimes, the fans attempt to do the defusing themselves which only leads to a worse disaster. That’s the case for Corpse whose fans were quick to jump to his protection of some ‘false’ rumors.
Requested by Anon. Hi dear! Thank you so much for your request, it was a joy to write. I’m sorry for how long it has taken me to complete and post the fic but here it finally is and I hope you enjoy reading it at least half as much as I enjoyed writing it! Love, Vy ❤
Corpse cracks his knuckles, then his shoulders, then his collarbone, then the his neck. He clenches his jaw as he breathes steadily and rhythmically, trying to control an overwhelming wave of anger that he has never felt before. This is a situation he’s never had to deal with nor did he ever think he’d have to deal with and address on a fucking livestream on top of all, but here he is now, doing his best to count to ten and not go on a Twitter responding spree, calling people out on their bullshit. He wanted to do so, he still wants to, but he was stopped in his intentions and brought to a calm mindset where he was swayed into dealing with this the civil way and not by roasting the fuck out of any and every foul-mouthed person he’s seen on his Twitter timeline.
He can’t really guarantee and civility during the stream either, he’s aware his tolerance is as thin as a stretched out, old rubber band and is a slight tug away from snapping and allowing him to unleash hell on these people because of who he’s been seeing red these past few days.
Let’s not risk a misunderstanding here - Corpse absolutely loves and adores his fans, but seeing this behavior from them is quite upsetting and disappointing. When he uses the terms like ‘assholes’, ‘jerks’ and ‘rude motherfuckers’ he isn’t referring to them. He knows they are good people, but are using the completely wrong tactic of defending him, not to mention he doesn’t even need defending. Even if he did, he’s more than capable of doing it on his own and not getting other people involved.
“Hello everyone, hope you’re doing well.“ He finally settles on saying, officially kicking off the stream. If there’s any indicator of the serious nature of this stream, it’s probably the lack of lo-fi and the lack of even attempted playfulness and cheeriness in his voice. That’s how you know shit isn’t to be messed around about. “I just realized I didn’t specify what I’ll be doing in the Tweet, but I’ll tell you now, so those who aren’t interested in the subject or want to steer clear of the drama can leave. However, I wouldn’t advise clicking off considering this will be an overall, how do I say this, rant, of sorts? It’s meant to knock some sense in the people who have been spreading hate for a specific person on all social media platforms she’s active on.“
The majority of the viewers are already familiar with the subject, some even guilty of spreading the hate Corpse mentioned, but there are a few that are completely clueless - the ones actually not interested in online drama, not just saying they ‘hate drama’. With those people in mind, Corpse takes to addressing the issue from its very beginning.
“So, for a month now, me and this streamer, who’s also a TikTok star, by the name of Y/N have been interacting a lot on social media. She’s an incredibly sweet girl that a lot of people have prejudice towards. She’s very misjudged and misunderstood because people see he solely as her content, if that makes sense. They only know she’s that streamer who wears revealing clothes on her streams and posts risqué pictures on her Instagram. Like, no.“ Corpse cannot even fully believe he has to address this and that slut-shaming people is still a thing in the twenty-first century. He closes his eyes for a moment, fist tightening and his knuckles turning white, “I don’t understand how so many people can be so shallow and just plain jerks towards her in general, but then again - this is especially for my fans, the members of my fandom - I don’t understand the need you guys feel to put Y/N down to defend me from some ridiculous rumors as if it’s the first time I’ve had to deal with people talking shit for attention or to get someone canceled.“ He sighs, reminding himself to slow his roll as to not confuse any viewers who still don’t know the full story, “Anyway, back to the timeline of events. So, considering we’ve never interacted before, all the replying to comments, retweeting, liking posts and whatever sparked some dating rumors. Isn’t that just fucking hilarious - you see two people interacting on social media and the first thing that comes to mind is that they’re in a romantic relationship. Where did the friendship go? Does no one value or consider friendships to be a valid type of human relation anymore?“ He runs a hand through his hair, making another pause to clear his mind and prevent his frustration from overflowing. He promised he wouldn’t lose his cool and would remain calm and collected, but the more he talks about it the tighter he clenches his fist and the faster his heartrate is. His neck and ears are red from the tension he feels all over, almost like he’s physically restraining a raging wild animal and not just his own thoughts and emotions.
There’s layers to his anger, the lower ones - aka the ones he’s yet to get to - will be a nightmarish test of his self-control, he already knows it. Judging by how much of a toll this rant has already taken on him, his patience and control growing thinner and thinner, he’s not sure how he’ll power through the last layers without his voice raising awfully high in volume and his fists searching for some object to punch. To an ignorant eye, his reaction would seem exaggerated and overboard, but little does that ignorant eye know...
“When some of my fans saw those rumors, they reacted very badly. It was quite disappointing to see. Guys, I appreciate you standing up for me even though you shouldn’t do that - I can defend myself, not that this was a matter I needed defending from to begin with. But just the way some of you went about it was horrifically wrong and quite upsetting, to me but especially to Y/N herself.“ He can feel it, the aggravation growing, bubbling up in his chest, “What I saw disgusted me, I’m not gonna sugarcoat it. The things some of you were saying...I couldn’t believe you are in fact the same people who are my fans, my lovely fans who I’ve always thought so highly of. Never did I think you could be able of slut-shaming so vulgarly and grossly, I couldn’t believe what I was reading.“
He has every right to be upset - the things being said about Y/N were truly awful and a lot of things being said were meant to defend Corpse and defuse the rumors, doing so while stomping all over Y/N and her content. Rightfully so, many of her fans were outraged and quick to jump to her defense but were unfortunately outnumbered, leading Corpse to believe not many of her fans are actually real or as dedicated as his which only fueled his fury further.
Anyway, let’s take a look at Y/N’s point of view. Being a content creator for as long as she has, refusing to change her style no matter how many people disagreed and insulted her about it, she’s grown quite used to people spitting insults at her on every social media possible. It’s sad how throughout the majority of her content creating career she’s only had haters, creeps and fake fans watching her videos and streams. Rare are those in her fandom who’d actually stick up for her and defend her in ‘scandals’ such as this one. However, no amount of experience with dealing with hate could have prepared her for this outpour of some of the meanest shit she’s ever heard and been called in her life.
Y/N likes the content she makes, she’s comfortable in her skin and loves her body. She loves showing it off too and nor she nor anyone who wants that deserves to be shamed for who they are and what they do, especially when they aren’t hurting anyone and their content is still appropriate. People have always bashed her for all elements of who she is: her appearance, her clothing style, her streams, her gaming skills, her voice on occasion. She can count the instances when she’s received positive feedback on the fingers of her hands which would depress anyone else but not her. She’s always created content for her own amusement and entertainment so people’s opinions never really bothered her. Until now, until this very drama that has hit a specific nerve, an insecurity of hers she’s never talked about. The comments such as:
(Vy Speaking: Comments containing slut-shaming ahead, go to ### if you want to skip)
“Corpse would never date a slut like her“
“Corpse dating this thot? Please internet stop being ridiculous“
“Corpse ain’t a pimp, y’all need to chill“
“Even if they datin they gon break up soon - whore stays a whore“
###
bothered her far more than she’d like to admit. She has no one to open up about it either, she knows what she’ll get in response if she does - she’ll be told it’s her fault. Her fault because of the way she dresses, the way she talks and acts, because she chose this career to begin with. All her fault. The only person she can turn to she refuses to because she doesn’t want to be a bother - not after so many people confirmed her worries that she’s not good enough for him already anyway, the least she can do is avoid bothering him the best she can.
And that is exactly why this has upset Corpse so much.
“Here’s a little message specifically meant for those who claimed I’d never date someone like Y/N or specifically Y/N. You better listen carefully: Don’t you ever, and I mean EVER slut-shame my girlfriend or any other person ever. I cannot believe I have to explicitly remind you that your behavior isn’t ok. You should fucking know that your behavior isn’t right and that you’re a massive piece of shit for saying those awful things about others you judge solely on appearance and clothing. Does it surprise you that I am, in fact, dating Y/N? If you say yes for the reason you think she’s not good enough for me or that I deserve better, please get the fuck out of my fandom. No one disrespects my girl and gets away with it. That’s final!“
Though still under the influence of a flurry of negative emotions, overhearing Corpse literally telling people to exclude themselves from his fandom for being mean to her, Y/N’s taking a step towards emotional recovery knowing her boyfriend will always have her back. He’ll always be there to prove people wrong, defend her and stand by her. He’ll be there to catch her when the hate knocks her off her feet.
But most importantly: he’ll never ask her to change. Not her style, not her clothes, not her personality, nothing. He fell for her the way she is and for who she is, and he will never allow anyone to try to change her either. For someone who’s never had much support all her life, a single speck of support overpowers all the hate within the blink of an eye. Corpse will always be her knight in shining armor, the knight who defeated all the hateful demons by just entering her life. And though she’s still struggling with the ‘Am I good enough for someone so wonderful?’ and ‘He deserves better, doesn’t he?’ questions, with his hand holding hers, she’ll never let those doubts and insecurities overpower her.

Through the cold, I'll find my way back to you
Me attempting a multi-part fic?? More likely than you think! I wrote this fic because this blog started with Hawks and Dabi and kinda got a bit of traction with soulmate au’s so to me it made sense to post it for my first anniversary. I hope you guys like it! 💕
Touya Todoroki (Dabi) x female reader, Keigo Takami (Hawks) x female reader
TW canonical character ‘death’, a little angst and maybe a slight hint of dub-con (if you squint your eyes a little)
Part I, II
You’re eleven years old when your parents take you by the hand, sit you down on the couch and tell you that your soulmate is dead.
It doesn’t make sense. There’s a hollow ache inside of your chest like something important is gone but you were with Touya only yesterday. You had the rest of your lives together, you were gonna leave with him, start something better…
You feel empty and you can’t understand it. He can’t be dead, that’s not how it works. You find your soulmate and you get to ride off into the sunset. You get to be happy, everyone knows that.
But it doesn’t sink in until you’re kicking and screaming by his grave and Endeavor won’t so much as meet your eye and your parents are pulling you back because there’s no body.
There’s nothing left of Touya Todoroki.
And there’s nothing left of you without him.
They call it the bloom. A simple touch, the first from your soulmate’s hand, and the mark appears on your skin like drops of ink spilled into water. You’ve always thought it beautiful, the delicate black pattern imprinted on your wrist.
You can still remember the heat you’d felt when it happened. Not the burning kind you knew him capable of, but like the warmth of a fire seeping through you. And you remember the way those bright, blue eyes had widened as you’d tripped and fell, taking him with you. His mark was over his heart; Touya always was stupidly smug about that.
You were just kids. Angry and scared and lost, but you had Touya and Touya had you.
(Not that that counted for anything in the end. He still died alone.)
They say it’s rare to find your soulmate before adulthood, but you’d been one of the lucky ones.
Lucky.
The word tastes bitter on your tongue now. It’s not that you disagree exactly – even now, years after his death you’re glad that you had time with him. You would’ve been grateful for a minute, for a mere glance at his face. Two and a half years with your soulmate was a gift, but having him, losing him so young only meant that you had more years of your life to struggle on without him.
And sometimes you catch yourself staring at your mark, lost in thought. Touya was the one with all the plans, you were always just the tag along, happy to go anywhere so long as he was the one leading you. You wonder what he’d think if he could see you now. Not the Hero you’d let yourselves imagine, though you suppose you both knew deep down that was nothing more than a pipe dream for someone like you.
Gazing around your cramped, messy apartment, debating exactly how badly you need this shitty, barely-enough-to-scrape-by job, you can’t imagine he’d be impressed.
God knows your parents are disappointed, but that’s nothing new. The Quirkless daughter of two mid rank heroes – well, the only thing you ever had going for you was being Enji Todoroki’s future daughter in law, and everybody knows how that one ended.
But part of you likes to think that maybe Touya wouldn’t judge you too harshly for it. You’re doing the best you can. You’re surviving, all on your own, that has to count for something, doesn’t it?
There’s a text message awaiting you when you roll over and grab your phone.
Happy Birthday x
Natsuo never forgets. The rest of the Todoroki’s – you ceased to matter to them the day they buried an empty casket for their son. Natsuo’s the only one who bothers to check in on you, make sure that you’re keeping your head above the water. It’s usually just a message here and there, and he calls you on Touya’s birthday. And on the anniversary of his death.
It’s painful for him, but you suppose you’re the only tangible connection he has left of his brother.
You stare at the message for a moment longer, a strange feeling tugging at your heart. Typing out a quick reply, you set your phone down and fall back onto your bed, staring up at the ceiling with a sigh.
Today of all days, you’d honestly rather just roll over and let the hours pass you by, but your boss isn’t that forgiving and as much as you hate to admit it, you need this job.
The hotel’s already abuzz by the time you clock in, your manager’s jaw tight, a frown pinching at his face. As much as you don’t like him, you can’t exactly blame him for the bad mood – in less than three hours, the ballroom will be filled with a media circus and a plethora of pro heroes. Some big promotional event before the hero rankings are announced; you honestly don’t care.
It just means that everybody’s on edge, you’re gonna spend all day stuck in heels, smiling blandly while you serve people who won’t so much as look twice at you.
And then there’s the real reason you’re dreading today. 6’4”, blue eyed, broad shouldered, currently burning holes into you from across the ballroom while you carry around a platter of canapés. The last time you’d seen Enji Todoroki in person was two weeks after the funeral, and he’d ignored you entirely.
That was years ago; you weren’t even in your teens. Half of you had hoped that in his infinite arrogance and the complete lack of care he’d shown since his son’s death he would’ve forgotten about you entirely.
From the way he’s spent the last twenty minutes staring at you while bulldozing past reporters, though, you’re not feeling all that confident.
And for the life of you, you can’t figure out why your presence seems to be disturbing him so much, considering you’re really only there to serve and then fade into the background. It’s not like you’re chasing after him, demanding an autograph much less any kind of acknowledgement – you’re not exactly thrilled to be here either. Things work just fine with the two of you pretending the other doesn’t exist.
Does he think you’ve planned this? Some big ‘fuck you’ to try and mess with what you’re sure will be an announcement of his retainership of the number one position? Even while Touya was still alive, his father didn’t have a place in your life – he was off training his youngest, you barely saw him and you were glad for it.
While he might have hated him, some part of Touya still idolised him, craved his approval, but Enji had never been anything to you but a selfish, unfeeling monster. A bully.
But now he’s staring at you, slack jawed and wide eyed like he’s seen a ghost and it’s harder than you thought it would be to keep that smile plastered across your face knowing he’s watching your every move.
Your cheeks feels hot, and it only gets worse when you realise that Endeavor’s less than subtle behaviour is slowly but surely drawing attention from others in the room. A few curious reporters have shot you odd looks, heads cocked for a moment before dismissing you as just another waitress, hardly headline worthy.
The other heroes are less quick to brush you off. Mirko, current number five, elegantly clasping her glass of champagne in a gloved hand keeps shooting furtive glances between you and Enji, Gang Orca’s beady eyes following you across the floor, a flicker of what you’re fairly sure is concern maring his face.
It’s mortifying. Your smile is stretched and painful, your throat tight and you feel utterly exposed, but there’s nothing you can do. The flame hero doesn’t seem to care about the attention he’s drawing, or that with every passing minute it gets harder and harder for you to maintain that professional, customer service demeanour you need for this job.
And you’re beyond caring if he’s embarrassed to find his firstborn’s soulmate has sunk so low in his absence, you just want him to stop staring so you can finish your shift in peace. But it seems like the flame hero has other plans, because you’re just beginning to seriously weigh up your chances of keeping this job if you just up and walk off right here and now when Enji’s limited patience finally reaches its threshold.
He doesn’t bother offering excuses towards the poor reporter trying to pry an interview out of him, he just abruptly sets his drink down and starts stalking towards you. Rationally, you realise that with all these people here, he can’t make too much of a scene.
It’s just that even the thought of having to talk with him, to look into those blue eyes that are so painfully familiar yet wrong–
You can’t do it.
Not today.
And so you spin on your heel, stomach lurching. The silver tray in your hands stacked high with champagne teeters and falls, crystal glass shattering on the marble floors drawing gasps from the crowd. Endeavor calls out your name but you block him out, desperately weaving your way through the stunned mass of people.
Most of them give you a wide berth, likely due to the oversized hero barrelling after you. He calls your name again, louder this time. It’s not a scream, or a yell – it almost sounds pleading, though you can’t possibly imagine why. Endeavor doesn’t do pleading.
Your cheeks are burning; there’s too many people staring and hot tears begin to prickle at your eyes. A flash of red blurs past your field of vision and you start, a sharp squeak slipping out as a figure lands before you, blocking your exit.
Handsome with bushy eyebrows, dirty blonde hair messily brushed back and golden eyes gleaming; the hero in front of you would be impossible to mistake, even if it weren’t for the sweeping blood red wings sprouting from his back. Hawks, the current number two pro-hero and the only man standing between you and your fumbling escape.
Your body’s slow to catch up with your mind though, and as you try to stop, backpedal and side-step him at once your foot catches on your ankle. It’s instinctive, the way your arms fly up, wildly trying to catch yourself before you fall on your ass.
Just like you suppose it’s instinctive for him to rush forward to do the same.
It happens in a split second, your fingers brushing the skin of his neck just above the collar of his shirt, his hand grasping at your waist to steady you. Beneath his gloved hand a familiar burst of heat warms your skin.
Time slows to a crawl. The ballroom, all the gathered heroes and the press, your co-workers, they all fade into the background as your eyes dart to your fingertips, resting gently on the side of Hawks’ throat. There, a soft, inky black mark begins to unfurl spreading up to his jaw, disappearing below the collar of his turtleneck.
Over the quiet hum of the classical music playing in the background, you hear his breath catch.
He has you dipped, the two of you frozen as if in a dance and for a moment you dare to meet those piercing golden eyes. There’s a clicking sound, a camera shutter you distantly register, but while it makes your heart jump, Hawks pays it no mind.
He stares at you with impossibly wide eyes; open, vulnerable and raw.
And then he blinks, and that glimpse is gone, his grip tightening as he slowly sets you right. He doesn’t let you go, however.
“Hawks,” Enji’s tone is low and gruff, a warning this time.
Tension, thick and crackling with electricity hangs in the air between the three of you, amplified by the crowd of onlookers. All those journalists, chomping at the bit with the realisation of a juicy story playing out right in front of their eyes. Your name’s called out again, not by Endeavor, but by the reporter he’d cut off before – eyeing you now with an eager leer that has you recoiling back into Hawks’ embrace.
It’s enough to jerk the winged hero into action. His mouth finds your ear, his thumb sweeping soothingly along your side as he speaks low enough for only you to hear.
“You wanna leave, baby bird?”
You don’t remember nodding, but you must have, because in the space of a single heartbeat Hawks has you hoisted up in his arms, those powerful wings spreading wide – and you’re flying.
“I don’t think I have a job anymore,” you laugh drily, staring down at the city lights twinkling on the horizon.
Beside you, Hawks snorts in agreement, “Hell of a way to make an exit, though.”
He’s not wrong. You can only imagine what the tabloid headlines will say tomorrow ‘Pro Hero sweeps hotel waitress soulmate off her feet’ ‘Hawks mates for life; Endeavor jealous?’ Even if by some miracle your boss wasn’t intent on firing you on the spot, you’re not sure you can even bear to show your face there again.
It’ll be a pain though, trying to find a new job while your face is plastered across every less than reputable news outlet.
Perched atop the rooftop of Hawks’ hotel, halfway across the city, the wind ruffling gently through your hair, everything feels… surreal almost. It’s your birthday, and instead of crashing through the door of your apartment, exhausted and aching before falling face first onto your bed and not moving for the next few hours, you’re here. With the number two pro hero. Who, incidentally, is your second soulmate.
Having more than one soulmate, it’s not unheard of, just… rare.
And your hand’s entwined with his, his gloves long since discarded, his fleece lined jacket draped over your shoulders. Touya’s mark, long since blossomed across your inner wrist lies starkly between the two of you, unignorable.
“It was his son, wasn’t it?” he asks eventually, breaking the fragile silence as he toys with your fingers. When you nervously risk a glance up, Hawks doesn’t look angry or upset or even that jealous. Those golden eyes study your face with an odd kind of curiosity, but there’s no trace of resentment there. “Touya, the one who died. He was your soulmate.”
It’s not a question, but you find yourself nodding anyway. A part of you’s almost surprised he put it together so quickly, but you guess being a pro hero of that calibre requires a little more than just having a strong quirk.
“I’m sorry,” you murmur, because what else can you say?
You can’t possibly imagine how he’s feeling right now, what thoughts are running through his head. You’d accepted a long time ago that while you’d love Touya Todoroki until your dying breath, he was gone; that chance of a fairytale happily ever after going with him. Another soulmate wasn’t something you’d ever considered, much less wasted time longing for.
And yet here you are, another mark inked across your skin and it feels wrong somehow, yet also completely right. Imagining being on the other foot; putting yourself in Hawks’ shoes – a pro hero soulmated to some insignificant, quirkless waitress, and not only that, but finding out she has another soulmate, somebody she loved before you, a ghost of a memory you’ll always be competing against… you honestly don’t know how you’d feel.
“Look at me,” he whispers, calloused fingers coaxing at your chin. Heart thrumming like a hummingbird's you comply, letting out another soft squeak as Hawks takes the hand still entwined with his and lifts it to his neck, right above his mark.
He smiles, nuzzling into the touch as your breath stutters. “You’re mine, aren’t you?” Again, you find yourself nodding without even really being conscious of it. It doesn’t seem to matter to Hawks though, whose smile widens at the sight of it. He leans in closer, his breath fanning across your face as molten pools of honey drink you in. You wonder if he can feel the way your pulse is racing under his touch, mixed emotions warring inside of you as he cups your cheek.
“And I’m yours. That’s all I care about, baby bird.”
He’s drawing you into a kiss before you can even comprehend the words, soft lips moving against yours. Gently at first, but that sweetness gives way to a burning urgency as he pulls you closer, holds you tighter.
Hawks kisses you like your lips hold salvation, and it’s frightening and thrilling and it feels like every nerve in your body is electrified when his teeth catch at your bottom lip and he moans your name.
There’s some part of you that realises that you’re moving too fast – soulmates or not he’s practically a stranger – but as you break for air, panting and breathless and Hawks looks at you with those burning, beautiful eyes; you’re helpless to resist.
“Keigo,” he tells you as he lays you down on his bed, crawling up between your thighs with a gleaming, hungry smirk that’s nothing less than predatory, “Call me Keigo.”

five years too late let’s analyze this. the commentary has gotten me back into gravity falls reigniting thoughts and insights i came to years ago
i love everything about this commentary in general it hits the points of humor, genuine analysis of the characters, but most of all im so glad hirsch addressed that the droid not detecting any fear from dipper here doesnt make any scientific sense because that was a massive CinemaSins moment for me
IDK the fact that dipper can fucking stand after an airship crash because theres a bigger threat at hand is literally one of the defining capabilities owed to adrenaline lol...... IM SORRY im a biopsychology student if i dont point that out iwill seethe and die because that was just . its a grudge ive held for a long time about this episode but didnt rant about because it was something so minor and i’m sure nobody would care.
i was 13 when this episode came out and i’m almost 19 now, i had a special interest in biology and i still do but now i’m actually having college classes in biopsychology so i can give my arguments more oomph now. and i have to say, now that i know more about the brain and autonomic nervous system the more this scene bugs me, if that was even possible. and it says a lot of dipper and ford’s relationship.
if dipper clearly wasnt calm before, why would he be now just because he’s put up an outwardly confident facade? before he was in the flight but now hes in the fight. my boy just rode on top of a spaceship by nothing but a magnet gun that could detach at any time if it failed and then the ship crashed, he sustained injuries, is in emotional turmoil because he thinks his uncle is Fucking Dead and the threat of a security droid that detects adrenaline is on his tail and produces a Big Fucking Gun in response to dipper saying “i hAvE a MaGNeT gUn” and hes screaming and has his teeth clenched but sure there’s no adrenaline coursing through his body in that moment i can totally believe that
when dipper asks what happened, ford says “the orb didn’t detect any chemical signs of fear, it assumed the threat was neutralized and self-disassembled” but i don’t think measuring someone’s heartbeat alone is particularly relevant in detecting ... chemical signs of fear?? they dont really tell you this shit but noradrenaline (and maybe adrenaline too if the acetylcholine from sympathetic outflow always activates the adrenal medulla??, theres two pathways) is always active in small quantities to make sure your parasympathetic nervous system doesnt slow your heart to dangerous levels on its own, regardless of your emotions. it’s just a homeostatic mechanism. your sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous systems are CONSTANTLY modulating control of your organs on a see-saw, literally with every breath you take. simply standing upright causes specialized mechanoreceptor neurons in blood vessels to signal your brain to project signals to release catecholamines via the sympathetic nervous system to constrict your blood vessels so that blood is able to reach your brain and not pool in your legs. i have a deficiency in my body’s ability to adapt to this which is why i know so much about it. if i stand up my heart races to compensate. i’m not feeling fear, my body is just adjusting—albeit grossly and incompetently lol.
but what im saying here is that the security system is flawed. it’s a cool idea to have security droids detect fear, but in practice by detecting adrenaline, and not even directly by detecting the molecule itself—it’s done in a roundabout way by reading the heartbeat, could be a recipe for false alarms. like what if someone’s on beta-blockers. that’s not really an adequate way to measure “fear”; there’s so many variables that could interfere with the measurement the farther you abstract from what you’re really trying to detect. and besides, adrenaline is NOT just a sign of fear, it’s just for preparing the body for action. i know the sympathetic nervous system and adrenaline is constantly linked with the “fight-or-flight” reaponse to a stressor, but 99.9% of the time the sympathetic nervous system is used in your life is to balance out your parasympathetic nervous system to maintain homeostatic equilibrium for mundane things.
i think detecting amygdalar activation would be more efficient in detecting fear. the amygdala sends projections to the hypothalamus which then in turn modulates the autonomic nervous systems. but the amygdala is intensely activated specifically in response to a fear-inducing stimulus (it does activate in response to other emotions but they’re mostly negative and is most activated by startle and fear), and wouldnt be highly activated by many other confounding variables like measurement of the heartbeat could be. the amygala is one of the first stops directly from external stimuli.
to show you how integrated the amygdala is as the first step in registering fear after receiving input from sensory stimuli let’s look at the auditory-amygdala connection for example
Tumblr media
see how the auditory thalamus projects to the primary auditory cortex and auditory association cortex? the cortex is where conscious awareness of what the stimuli is comes from. this is the “high road”. it goes sensing -> perception -> emotional response. but sometimes you can be startled without even processing what it is you’re sensing, like the startle response of an alarm or a phone ringing in a quiet house before you even register what it is. this goes sensing -> emotional response, without perception happening until after you’ve already felt the startle. that’s when it takes the “low road”. here’s a simplified version:
Tumblr media
even if that were the case with these droids though it’s obvious dipper is still fearful on some level here. his body language, voice, expressions all give it away. for the amygdala, aggression isnt too off from fear so it would be detected equally.
the reason this is so important is because ford uses this as evidence for why dipper is special, “i did it?” “you did it. this is what i was talking about, how many 12 year olds do you think are capable of doing what you’ve just done?”
but like....did he really? i’m not saying this to shoot dipper down or make him out to be more of a wuss, he was incredibly strong-willed here and i dont want to take that away from him because it WAS growth on his part. but the underlying psychophysiological reactions of aggression and fear shouldn’t be that different and this was a total asspull. maybe the droid was so old that it fucked up. maybe dipper being covered in grime and dirt made it harder for the droid to measure the correct heart rate through photoplethysmography (im assuming since they use a camera and are non-contact).
and in all honesty everything i just said brings into question the interpersonal healthiness of ford’s judgements, what he thinks, his expectations, and how he communicates that. in this video alex already talks about how ford is projecting onto dipper. and i think ford may be projecting his expectations for himself onto people who are not him, and the fact that it’s on dipper here makes it far more unfortunate. you realize how much this boy idolizes ford, right? how much impressions matter? dipper even tells himself before he leaves in this same episode, “all right dipper, this is your first big mission with great uncle ford. don’t mess this up.”
even though it’s unstated, the implicit message dipper is perceiving from ford based on their dynamic is: “do you have what it takes for me to be proud of you?” and to accomplish this he must be like ford, even though he’s clearly not and he knows this. he says “i don’t think have what it takes. i was tricked by bill, i was wrong about stan’s portal, heck, i can’t even operate this magnet gun right.” then, by simple chance without even knowing what he did, he activates the magnet gun and pulls out the adhesive, which immediately takes the focus away from what dipper was telling ford about his feelings of inadequacy to ford saying, “yes! dipper, you found the adhesive!”
these thoughts of dipper’s hang in the air without resolve or comment from ford. we don’t know what ford would have said. but it then becomes painfully self-evident in the scene immediately after when the droids emerge and ford tells dipper, “they’re security droids and they detect adrenaline. you simply have to not feel any fear and they won’t see you”, to which dipper replies with an exasperated (and rightful) “WHAT?”
dipper goes in a panic trying to indirectly tell his uncle that this isn’t something he can do. and he is completely right and valid to be freaked out by that full stop. that IS crazy. you can’t control your fear. you can control how you interpret that fear in your higher brain regions but the physiological changes will stick around for longer than it takes to cognitively calm down. it’s easy for me to detach from my emotions to analyze them, but being able to do this does not come naturally for everyone. even i have an irrational fear of wasps and i can’t control it by detaching myself, my body is just automatically primed to get the fuck out of there. i know it’s stupid and i know it’s irrational and isn’t helpful to get myself worked up but i literally can’t stop how my body reacts no matter how i cognitively think about it. expecting composure from dipper in a situation like this when he’s being made to consciously be aware of his anxiety is absolutely fucking insane. look what you did, placing these cruel expectations on him, now he’s afraid of being afraid! this isn’t a case where two wrongs cancel out, they just stack on top of each other.
youtube
there’s a good reason these scenes were put side by side but it seems up until now it had remained unanalyzed.
what dipper fears from ford is disappointment. not living up to his uncle’s (quite frankly badly placed) expectations for a twelve year old with anxiety. not once did ford say or subliminally communicate “i don’t expect you to be able to do what i can since you are not as experienced as i am and that’s perfectly okay, no judgements”. you don’t put a child on bike before training wheels. you don’t throw a kid into a swimming pool without giving them swimming lessons. the way ford is doing it, there’s no room for trial and error or mistakes that are an opportunity to grow and learn; instead, it’s life or death. he only seems to pride dipper on what he can do while ignoring the underlying struggles that plague him and never making it known it’s okay for dipper to fail in front of his hero and that he won’t think anything less of him for it.
and that’s why i found the ending scene for dipper and ford’s adventure in this episode to feel so.. wrong. on a scientific and social level. because by the sound of it ford focused more on what dipper had done to dismantle the droid (the droid not detecting any fear) instead of how dipper displayed love and protection for him even if he was truly afraid. what if the science was accurate and the droid detected adrenaline while dipper was confidently standing up for his uncle. would ford still be proud of him regardless?

Title: One Shitty Friday Night (Part 2) *contains some smut*
Pairing: Peter Maximoff x Fem!Reader
Summary: Set after the events of Deadpool 2, this is the conclusion from the previous part here. After your semi-disastrous double date night, you, Peter, Kitty, and Colossus head home with Deadpool and Russell in tow to face Logan, Charles, and Erik back at the mansion. You also get some well earned alone time with Peter at last, only to go back to chaos the following morning with Peter confronting Gambit, and Deadpool popping back in.
Warnings: It’s still a bit of Deadpool and all that entails, but only at the beginning and end. *In this part there actually is some Peter x Reader sex.* But you’re welcome to skip over that if uncomfortable with it. I clearly mark in red before and after any smut within the story so readers can choose what to read and still enjoy just the fluff and character interactions before and after if wanted. ❤️
Peter Maximoff x Reader Masterlist
——————————
The ride home was surprisingly quiet actually. Colossus driving, with Kitty sitting shotgun in the front with him. Russell was in the second row seat behind Kitty, but the seat that normally would have been behind the driver had been taken out specifically with Colossus in mind to let his seat sit further back with his large height.
That just left the third row of three seats. With Peter still not in the best mood, you’d chosen to sit between him and Wade. But they’d mostly just been snacking on the cannolis the whole way home rather than saying or doing much of anything else.
You’d only eaten two in all, hungry but not wanting a stomach ache from the sweetness. You’d felt your own phone buzzing in your pocket most the way home too, but you refused to look at it yet. You could only imagine which friends were trying to call or text you about whatever was being said on TV and the internet now.
Kitty only told you that she’d messaged Xavier to tell him you were all on your way home. But you weren’t sure if she’d warned him about Deadpool and Russell coming with you. Or if she’d kept her phone out at all either afterward, afraid of what the Professor might say in response.
It could have been worse was what you kept thinking. It had been worse actually. Deadpool had once killed an Essex House staff member on live TV, while wearing an X-Men shirt, and with Colossus and Negasonic Teenage Warhead also in camera view. But, given that that trouble had already come from him once, would the Professor be harder on you all this second time around? Would he still think you handled the situation as well as you could have or not?
By the time you felt the familiar turns up the long drive to the mansion, you realized that the period for anxiety was over. Whatever would be would now be.
Colossus had decided to park right in front the main entry doors instead of pulling down into the garage. Mostly just in case Wade’s welcome wasn’t a warm one. He could step right back outside if needed instead of already being in the depths of the compound.
Russell was actually the first one to speak though as you all climbed out the vehicle in front of the well manicured landscaping and dim accent lights.
“Holy shit, he is a rich son of a bitch.” The boy spoke, gaping a little at the sheer size of the mansion and the number of floors still above you.
“The cursing, Russell, please.” Colossus reminded. “There are younger children who live here.”
“Though they should be in bed,” Kitty responded, albeit sounding doubtful herself as she started up the entryway stairs.
They might normally be yes, but probably not if the rumor mill of tonight’s excitement was already burning through the place.
“Well I’ve actually never seen more than three people anytime I’ve been here. So there’s that,” Deadpool quipped.
“Yeah well, we were probably busy.” Peter retorted.
“Oh? Well yeah, maybe you were.” Wade replied, eyeing Peter. “Here’s a thought though, Peters. Maybe next time Ryan Murphy calls, just say N-O. No means no, right?”
“What-” Peter started to ask, but then thought better of it. It really wasn’t worth trying to piece together anything else Deadpool said into something more sensical right now.
As Kitty pushed open the doors and you all strode into the large foyer in front the main staircases, you weren’t sure what would be awaiting you. But the immediate, utterly ecstatic squeal that erupted from Deadpool next had all of you jumping before a gruff voice responded from up on the second floor landing.
“You have to be goddamn shitting me. You actually let that idiot follow you home?” Logan responded, the odd mix of disgust and annoyance so clear on his unshaven face.
“I thought you said no cursing here,” Russell complained.
“Logan is sometimes another matter...” Colossus attempted to answer with some neutrality, even as Deadpool was now bounding up the stairs towards the older man.
“Finally! Finally! I don’t even care if it’s just Tumblr and like two people and their FBI agents will see this! Beggars can’t be choosers! I missed you so much, papa bear!”
You stood there staring in complete disbelief, Deadpool looking as if he was actually going to try and hug the Wolverine.
You were likely all of the same mindset about the only way this could possibly play out, but Colossus was the only one to speak, pleading really. “Please, Logan! No blood on the inside of the house! You know how badly it would stain the floors!”
But Wolverine only growled, claws already aimed as Wade stopped just millimeters short, the metal tips now grazing the mercenary’s throat. “You heard him, Wade. Don’t give me a reason and you won’t be having to regrow limbs tonight.” Logan replied.
“You salty old bastard. We haven’t even seen each other in ages, you won’t return my calls, and this is the welcome I get?” Deadpool pouted.
“You’re bad luck walking, Wade. These kids don’t need you hanging around here for long.”
“Oh, and you’re such a tasteful role model. Grandpappy Wolverine teaching a class on cigar chain smoking, and stabbing your problems away this semester?”
“The fuck are you on about? How many people have you killed this month alone, Wade?”
“Twenty four and a half, thank you. And ask me how many of those never killed or raped someone themselves. How many the police never would have touched. What do you think I’ll say there?”
“Reason it all you want, bub. You’re just a wack job vigilante.”
“This could go on all night.” Kitty sighed. “Logan! Where is everyone else? We brought Russell with us, we need to take him to the Professor.”
Wolverine only softened slightly at Kitty’s voice, answering her. “Charles put in a curfew tonight, all students back to their rooms. Wade’s not allowed past the entrance, but the Professor is waiting for you in his study.”
“Discrimination.” Wade huffed, yet then posed in a mock seductive look. “But if you wanted me alone tough guy, all you’d have to do is ask.”
“Please do not make a mess, Logan. We will be back to collect him as soon as we can.” Colossus said with some concern, you all just starting towards the hallway that lead to Xavier’s office.
“No promises.” Logan called back before continuing, louder then so you could hear him even as you walked away. “And hey, Peter-”
“Yeah?” He answered back from your side, glancing over his shoulder at Logan.
“Your dad’s here, kid.”
Peter paused in his tracks, staring for a moment. You could see the emotions process through him before he took a deep breath. There was nothing more that any of you could do though. He just lifted a hand up in a wave of acknowledgement, finally starting to walk again. “Thanks for the warning,”
Even in all that had happened through the years though, going to see Xavier like this still brought back an odd sense of childhood. And that little feeling of dread to be honest. Not because you really thought he would be angry, but because you worried that you may have disappointed him. Which would have always been the worse of the two options in your own mind.
Colossus was the one to slide the ornate pocket doors open, you all trailing in behind him as you entered the study.
It was warm inside, the fireplace crackling and dancing. That fire was the only light besides a couple small table lamps and a TV now on mute, but still running the late night news.
You were but weren’t surprised to see Erik sitting there as well, a short glass of what looked like scotch in one hand. There was a chessboard as well, positioned between himself and Charles on a little table, the pieces clearly still in play.
As the TV flickered again though, you glanced back to it reflexively. You saw an exterior shot of the restaurant you’d been at only a short time earlier, now with police tape all around. It cut to a video of Colossus walking up to police cars with Giovanni in hand, but then just as quickly the flashing red and blue lights changed to the white flashes of cameras and yourself and Peter talking before the sudden kiss. You only looked to the floor in renewed embarrassment then, choosing not to read the ticker captions currently scrolling beneath the now looping video.
“Hey, Dad...” Peter said somewhat unsure, but still the first to speak. He’d shoved his hands into the pockets of his leather jacket now, as he often did when nervous. “Didn’t know you were in town.”
“Peter.” Erik answered plainly though, taking a sip of his drink before setting it back down. “I only arrived this afternoon. I had been hoping for a quiet evening.” He looked briefly towards the television, but then coolly back to Peter. “But here we are aren’t we?”
“Erik,” Xavier warned lightly though, no doubt sensing Peter tense further at the tone.
“They aren’t children anymore, Charles.” Erik responded sharply. “And it never should have been allowed to get to this point. I told you from the beginning that they should have worn masks, they should have been discreet. Trying to craft this foolhardy public image of the new X-Men as some celebrity clean up crew for humans’ mistakes, it’s making a mockery of us all.”
The exasperated breath that came out of the Professor next told you that this was far from the first time that this subject had come up as a point of contention between the two. But the rest of you were quite helpless whenever Erik and Charles would start to argue in front of you.
Xavier countered, “As I have also said before, Erik, we all knew there would be some negatives from moving more into the public eye with our team. But how can mutant kind ever be accepted for who we really are if we only kept slinking in the shadows for the rest of our lives? It’s no different than Raven showing herself on camera all those years ago. You know what an impact that made on the youth in our community then.”
“But the humans are fickle. The magazines and the talk shows only jest at you now. What happens when they turn on you? When my son’s face is only on a wanted list in a database, Charles? What then?”
The anger and protectiveness flaring up in Erik’s tone only made the room even more uncomfortable, yet you didn’t find yourself surprised. Peter’s relationship with his father would never be an easy one, but you knew in the end that Erik did feel a sense of responsibility towards his progeny. And hell have mercy on anyone who did ever truly harm Wanda, Peter, or Lorna and word of it get back to their father.
Charles remained patient though, likely understanding those paternal emotions all too well himself. The Professor treated you all as well as his own after all. “The ones that wish to harm us already knew who we were, Erik. They don’t need to pick up that gossip drivel to find us. We protect ourselves by staying together, as we always have. They want us, then they’ll have to face us all. And Lord knows even gods have tried.”
Erik frowned, and for a moment you wondered if Xavier was saying something more to him telepathically. Something to make him finally quiet or at least agree to postpone the argument’s continuation for later in private.
Regardless of whether your instincts were correct or not on that, their conversation did end abruptly then. Charles switched to a warmer, but still slightly tired tone as he looked back to the rest of you. “Well, I know you’re all ready for tonight to be over. I won’t keep you much longer. Kitty, if you could make sure that weapon you confiscated ends up locked in Hank’s lab tonight, we’ll see about it later. Given that those men would not need something so extravagant just to dispose of other humans, I’m certain it was developed or at least purchased with our kind in mind. We will learn what we can.”
She nodded in agreement before he then turned his attention to the, to this point, uncharacteristically silent Russell with a kind look. “And Russell, I appreciate you deciding to give us a second chance. You’re welcome to stay of course. Did you still wish to speak to me? I know it’s late. Don’t feel obligated to stay and talk if this is all a bit much right now. We can always go over more about the school in the morning.”
“Um...” The boy blinked, not quite ready it seemed for any of the focus to be back on him so soon. And it was only then that you realized it was Erik that Russell kept staring at as he tried to formulate a real response. Actually Erik and briefly back to Peter, that tell tale look on the boy’s face that you’d seen so many times before when people realized who Peter really was, who his father was. Russell was maybe even regretting picking on Peter earlier now.
Charles certainly hadn’t missed that though. Surely sensing all the boy’s thoughts and feelings now as he continued. “It’s alright, Russell. Yes, Magneto does stop in here from time to time. We’re old friends. Yet I hardly think you should be so concerned with him when you’ve already gotten on quite well with my stepbrother haven’t you?” Xavier was actually smiling then. “To get on the Juggernaut’s good side, if even briefly, is quite impressive I must say.”
That did seem to finally break the ice a little then as Russell looked back to Charles. “Yeah, I... I needed a prison friend. A big one.”
“He is that, certainly,” The Professor responded. “Yet to answer the other questions still running through your mind -and forgive me to read you- but of course you can absolutely train with us to better learn to control your fire powers if you’d like. And yes, you may also have a television in your room. I think that’s a reasonable request after living in less than desirable conditions with Wade for this long.”
“Yeah, there were rats and the old blind lady sells cocaine.” Russell answered so matter of factly that the rest of you, minus Charles who was evidently now fully aware of Russell’s recent memories, all just stared.
“Despite his, ah, unique flaws, I can say that Wade would never willingly let anything happen to you.” Xavier just continued. “But yes, it would likely be best to give you a bit more sanitary and less illegal living conditions. And of course this would all be voluntary, if you find you don’t like it here after all, you’re always free to go as well.”
“Cool. Yeah.” Russell agreed. Though not really sure what else to say.
“Wonderful,” Charles just looked back to Colossus and Kitty then. “Can you two please see Russell to one of the empty rooms so he may pick one out to sleep tonight? And please let Wade know of his decision to stay for now.”
Colossus spoke up though before they all walked out together, “And am I sending Wade home as well? I do not think he and Logan can be peaceable for a whole night in the same building.”
“Agreed. Like oil and water there. I would prefer not to have to repair cerebro again either, as we’d had to from his last stay with us.” Xavier looked apologetic though to Colossus. “Is it too much to ask that you offer him a ride back home tonight?”
But Russell just cut in before Colossus could respond. “Nah, Wade already called a cab to meet him back here before we left town. You can just dump him outside now. Let him be their problem.” But even Russell knew to elaborate a little. “And it’s not some random person he might scare off. It’s his friend Dopinder. But you might want to give him some money first. He never pays the guy. Wade doesn’t carry a wallet. Tightwad.”
Kitty sighed. “I’ll cover it. I have cash. Never got to eat or pay for our dinner after all.” She glanced to you and Peter briefly. “Maybe next weekend?”
“We can try,” You offered quietly.
She smiled, understanding that sentiment that you all might want to lay low for awhile after this fiasco of an evening. “I guess we’ll see how we feel. Night, guys.”
“Night.” You and Peter responded to her in unison.
When Kitty, Colossus, and Russell had left the room, you happened to glance back at the TV, though you were at least a little relieved to see the news had finally gone off and by the captions it was just some talk show host joking about whatever a bigger idiot politician had done now.
But Peter’s voice brought your attention back to him.
“Are we free to go too?” He asked cautiously, maybe even more uneasy now that it was just the four of you as he looked to his father and Charles.
The two older men exchanged a glance of their own as silence hung for a moment.
Erik sighed eventually though to break it. His voice serious, but lacking it’s usual coldness. “You can’t keep diving into everything headfirst, Peter. You’re going to get yourself killed.” He seemed to be studying his son’s face a moment. “And what are those bruises even from?”
“I, uh...fell down a flight of stairs.” Peter answered, taking a breath as if to steel himself for further scolding, obviously that admission only adding to his father’s point.
Yet you interjected before Erik could respond. Before you could help yourself, as it wasn’t fair for Peter to be singled out here. “I’m the one that told him to go to the basement.” Normally Scott was mission leader, or maybe Ororo. This wasn’t a role you were used to, but you’d take responsibility where it was due tonight. “I thought it would be safest for him to go first, to disarm them all, but-”
“But you sent him straight into an ambush.” Erik countered. And when his gaze shifted to you with those words, it was clear that even after this long, it still had an effect. An intimidation factor that you could only hope didn’t show through in your expression.
But it was Charles that came to your defense. “That’s a gross over simplification, Erik. Peter had already examined the area on his own accord moments before to no harm. There would have been no reason for them to think he couldn’t return to it.”
For Xavier to already know that level of detail, meant he’d already searched you and Peter’s minds tonight as well, just as he had Kitty about the gun. Which honestly was okay with you as it meant you wouldn’t have to really explain everything that had happened and risk making things sound even worse.
But Erik was still staring at you both, looking displeased.
Peter shifted, uncomfortable with the quiet. “Look, if you’re going to yell at me for what I did on TV, then just get it over with. It wasn’t (Y/N)’s fault. I was the one that made us stay as long as we did, and I was the one that got pissed off at what those guys were saying. It’s always like no one can believe we’re still together. Like I have to keep proving it.”
That admission actually did catch you off guard. Especially to be said here in front his father, and well in all honesty sort of stepfather that Charles was for all intents and purposes. You immediately felt you should say something, but were even further stunned when Erik beat you to it.
“Peter, for God’s sake. You may have problems, but I assure you that (Y/N) is not one of them. Quit being so dense, boy.”
You blinked, unsure if you’d actually just received a rare semi-compliment from Erik.
But Peter just rolled his eyes. “Thanks for the pep talk, Dad. Yes, I know that. I’m saying how do I make everyone else know that? Some fatherly wisdom would be great right now.”
Erik frowned, looking annoyed at Peter’s reaction. “I’ve told you before, I can’t teach you self-confidence, no one can. Though I’ve always been willing to fight for what I wanted. That’s a start.”
“Erik, no.” Charles interrupted. “Peter, we all question ourselves from time to time. But when it comes to relationships, nothing going on on the outside will matter as long as you focus on keeping things strong between the two of you. Weakness there is the only way those outside troubles can get in to break things down.”
“Oh typical, Charles. So it’s still turn the other cheek to everything else then? Pacifism is not how love is won.” Erik replied, now staring back at Xavier.
“Love is not a thing to be fought over, Erik, and neither is (Y/N). People are not trophies to be claimed.” The Professor responded, meeting Erik’s gaze easily.
“Okayyyy,” Peter said, glancing to you and the no doubt really uncomfortable expression on your face now. “I think we’re just going to go to bed now.” His voice was getting a little quicker as he touched your arm as if to usher you out with him. “We’ll be more careful next time, we learned our lesson, so sincerely sorry and humbled, good nigh-”
“Peter.” Erik called back though before you could both reach the doorway.
Peter looked back reluctantly, only to see Erik now holding up a phone.
“Do at least message your sisters tonight to tell them you’re alright. As refreshing as it is to be receiving so many calls from them this evening, it’s only you they wish to speak to.”
“Uh, sure,” Peter offered, a little surprised. “I haven’t even looked at my phone. I will. Night!”
“Good night.” You also managed, speaking back at least politely to the two men just before Peter hurried you out into the hallway.
——————————
You’d both chosen to take one of the other halls afterward, as to avoid the front foyer and any drama that may still be occurring there if Wade and Logan were still facing off. There was another set of stairs at the back of the house, and it’d been a real relief not to run into anyone else on the way as you took them up to your floor.
By the time you finally got to your bedroom, you didn’t bother to turn on the ceiling light, just switching on the lamp at your bedside end table as you sat down on the bed. You pulled off your shoes, and heard Peter’s jacket already hitting the floor before his own weight hit the bed, making you bounce slightly.
“Ugh,” He said, already barefoot and stretched out behind you laying on his back. “That was awkward right?”
“What part of the night specifically?” You questioned, throwing off your own coat into a then indiscernible pile in the darkness outside of the lamp light. Normally you were the one picking up after Peter, but you weren’t in the mood to hang up or fold anything tonight.
“Good point,” He conceded. “But I was mainly thinking of Dad and Charles. Sorry to drag you into that.”
Yeah, that had been pretty weird. “Well, Xavier was just trying to help. And I think your Dad was too...in his own way. I guess.” There wasn’t a whole lot you could add to that. Peter’s insecurities could flare up from time to time still, but he’d actually gotten a little better over the years. At some point he had finally realized you really were going to stick around. It wasn’t just pretty words and passing teenage hormones.
After you’d actually started rooming together officially, you knew there had even been some joking from your friends about Magneto one day becoming your father-in-law. But you tried not to humor any of that. You were in no hurry, and felt further commitment to that level would have to be Peter’s decision. It wouldn’t be fair to put him under that kind of pressure.
You knew he had reservations on the subject when none of his father’s marriages had ever worked out. He wouldn’t say it outright, but you were sure Peter felt there was still some sort of family curse there that he didn’t want to tempt fate with. As if making you his spouse would be the final straw and something would come to take all his happiness away.
You felt him moving a little then as he pulled his phone out of his pocket. “Alright, before I forget, group message to Wanda and Lorna...” But he paused, looking up at you with just a blank white screen on the phone. “What do you think I should tell them?”
“Peter, they’re your sisters.” You smiled, not sure why this would be a question to you. “Just say you’re fine, you’re back at the mansion, and you’re going to bed. You can always call them tomorrow.”
He made a face at that though, “What if I don’t want to call them tomorrow? They’re just going to lecture me. Oh, I know!” He smirked as if he’d thought of something clever, adding to whatever he was already typing. “Dad already fussed at me. So don’t worry about it. Wanda, tell mom the same thing. ❤️👍”
He turned the screen to show you. “Think that will work?”
“Genius.” You replied.
“Smart ass.” He grinned, but sent the message before quickly turning his phone back on silent and setting it on the other end table.
You took your own phone out your pocket, intentionally not reading the number of notifications left on the home screen as you also set it to the side before standing up to take your pants off.
You’d just slid them down, trying to step out of them when a sudden pinch to your backside almost had you stumble forward, one foot still stuck in a pants leg.
“Speaking of ass...” Peter teased, pulling his hand back before you could smack it.
“So the cannolis gave you a second wind, huh?” You turned, not surprised to see that devilish grin starting as he now looked you over while you next removed your shirt. You’d think he’d be used to this view by now.
“I was feeling hopeful, yeah,” he replied, though remaining where he was in the bed as your shirt joined your pants on the floor. “Of course I am still pretty tired,” He added, “Maybe you could help me out here?”
You raised one eyebrow as he motioned to the zipper of his jeans. Oh, so this was how it was going to be? He seemed so pleased with his idea though, you couldn’t help but be amused.
***smut starts here, scroll on to skip*** “So pitiful, my poor speedster.” You said, albeit smiling as you climbed into the bed. You straddled him gently, seeing that needful look already beginning to cloud his eyes as he still laid on his back beneath you.
You were tired yourself, and hungry still, but you’d survive until morning. This effort for some physical intimacy seemed worth it to at least end this bizarre night on a good note for the both of you.
And you knew you both wanted it. He might be making a play that he was going to make you do all the work right now, but you highly doubted he’d have the self control to not jump in once things actually got going.
You pushed his shirt up, running both your hands up the sides of his torso. Like anyone would expect for someone as fast as him, he was built lean, though there was sinew there. Just that bit of muscle, storing all that energy, ready to take off at a moment’s notice.
The room was cool. It was still winter and the high ceilings didn’t do much to keep heat near the floor. You knew your hands would be a little cold as well. So you willed just the slightest bit of your energy field from your palms, warming them as you stroked his chest. You could see the bit of bruising here and there from his earlier fall, but luckily nothing extreme.
He relaxed his head into the pillows behind him, clearly enjoying the feel even as you heard his breathing increase slightly. He liked to be petted, but you knew it would be too much of a tease for him if you focused above his waist for too much longer.
You left his shirt pushed up to bare his abdomen to you, even as your hands ran carefully back down, stopping at his belt. Never quite the typical guy when it came to fashion, it wasn’t a normal peg and hole type, but actually an old seatbelt buckle. You undid it with a click, pulling it out through the belt loops of his pants as he arched a little to take his weight off the back and fully free it.
Once that was out of the way, you unbuttoned and unzipped his jeans with little fanfare. His normally loose boxers were already a little tighter though you noticed.
He made a noise, shifting into the touch as you cupped him with your hand. You massaged the area through the fabric, feeling him gradually stiffen as you got a little more forceful.
By the time he was fully erect, it was all too simple to slip him through the now stretched open flap in the boxers.
You had been intending to stroke him now, but on a whim you decided to go another route. Something a little less predictable you hoped, but what you knew he would still like. You doubted you were all that good at it really, but he’d never complained before.
And you could tell he was surprised, you heard him take in a quick breath as you lowered your mouth down on him, sucking him as he spread open his legs for you. You couldn’t take him in too deep without gagging yourself, but you tried to make up for it by moving up and down gingerly as you used your tongue as well.
It must have been stimulating enough for him though as you felt his hand on the back of your head shortly after, and felt his hips starting to rock rhythmically against your mouth.
He gave a quiet moan, he was so very hard now, but you didn’t let up. You knew sometimes, especially if it’d been a while since you’d last had a chance to be intimate together, he may actually cum fairly quickly. But if he did, then he did. You weren’t worried about whether you got anything in return tonight. Truthfully, your heart was already pounding, the heat in you building, just because you knew he was so aroused.
It was always give and take, and there was no rule of whose turn it was at any given time.
His whole body stiffened a little and for a moment you thought that would be it. But his hand moved to your shoulder suddenly instead, pushing you back as you released him in response.
You pursed your lips as you looked back up at him, that little bit of irritation still felt on them of where they’d dragged against him.
He was already sitting up though, pulling his shirt off completely before he tossed it off the bed. “Come on, babe, clothes off please.” He breathed, his silver hair falling into his dark eyes as you moved off of him and he laid back again just long enough that he could pull off his jeans and work his erection free from his boxers before they ended up cast out into the darkness as well.
While you’d been watching him, you’d also been unhooking your bra as requested, tossing that away. Which left only your underwear before you’d slid it down your legs, flicking it off too once it’d only been left swinging from one foot. He closed the small distance between you so fast then, you were sure he’d actually just used his powers before you felt his lips against yours. Desperate almost, as his tongue pressed through immediately afterward.
You shivered, not expecting the feel of his fingers against your entrance almost simultaneously. Just two of them, moving methodically against you. The room felt far from cold now. But you were just kissing him equally as hard now as he started to push his fingers in further, testing your readiness.
By the time you trembled again from his probing, you knew you were fully wet enough. It was a mutual realization evidently as he broke the kiss, urging you to turn so your back was facing him as he moved behind you on the bed.
You understood what he wanted as he kneeled behind you. You let yourself lean down onto your elbows in the pillows, but also on your knees in the back as you felt him grab your hips from behind. You arched your back, curving your back downward to help angle yourself into him as you felt his tip pressing into you.
As wet as you were now, he only had to try a couple times before he was able to slide fully in. To the hilt so to speak as you felt his torso now pressed flush against you. Already that slight sheen of sweat was starting where your skin touched together as he began to thrust.
The bed was creaking, and you bit back a moan of your own, never quite sure how thick the walls really were in this house. It was kind of an unspoken thing that as long as precautions were taken, and the others in the house didn’t have to hear or see anything you did in the privacy of your own room, then no one would care if people coupled up. For the two of you, precautions only meant a birth control pill, not worrying about condoms any longer after several years of monogamy.
His thrusts were getting even more uneven though, which told you he was close to orgasm. But you couldn’t help but push back against him yourself, panting a little as you felt him grab and squeeze one of your breasts. He was supporting himself with his other arm as he leaned forward suddenly, still inside you as he nipped you lightly on one shoulder, then kissing the same spot before he breathed in your ear.
“How do you always feel so good?” He murmured.
As he let go of your breast, you felt his hand go back between your legs. Even though he was still buried fully in you, his fingers went back to teasing the outside. The over stimulation left you shuddering, and you knew he was trying to get you to orgasm first.
His fingers just kept moving as he started to thrust again. You loved that feeling of fullness, when he was all the way inside, but it was the added teasing of his fingers where you were most sensitive that finally sent you over the edge. Your muscles inside spasming around him then as that unmistakable burst of euphoria went through you, leaving every piece of you trembling.
He clearly felt your orgasm, only moving both hands back to your hips then. Pulling you back against him as he thrust roughly several more times, enough to get his own release as you felt his erection pulse in its own right, knowing he had then let go inside you as you felt that warmth already dribbling back out onto the bedsheets.
Even though you’d started the foreplay, he’d done most the work for the finish. Yet you still felt spent now, only rolling onto your back after he pulled out, trying not to let too much of his seed run back out of you and onto the bed.
He was still breathing a little unevenly as he left the bed only long enough to go grab a clean hand towel from the bathroom. One of those pluses of having had the mansion rebuilt back then was that so many more of the rooms now had their own bathrooms. And after he’d wiped the residue off of himself, he handed you the towel. You dabbed up the small spot on the bed, before wiping off the remainder from your skin as well, then tossing the towel unceremoniously onto the floor with everything else.
Peter turned off the end table lamp before climbing back into the bed beside you in the darkness. The only light then coming from the moon and starlight through the thin curtains at the windows.
You were both still naked, and a little bit hot as you only pulled the covers as high as your waists, knowing the room’s cool air would chill you quickly enough now that no more physical exertion was taking place.
Hot or not though, his arms went around you as he then pulled you into a spooning position in the darkness. You actually felt that he was still about half hard too as it touched against your backside again, you now both laying on your sides with your back to his chest.
***sex over, you’re safe to start reading again*** “That almost made up for this entire night,” He joked quietly, kissing the back of your neck a couple times before you felt him smile against your skin. He moved one of his hands to trail it lightly over your hip, the sensation tickling you slightly as he spoke again. His voice was soft, a true contentment in his tone. “Love you.”
That wasn’t a phrase he said often. But the both of you seemed to save the word as to never water it down. When it was said, it made it really mean something more.
You reached down for his hand that’d been playing with your hip, grasping it warmly and weaving your fingers between his. “I love you.” You said simply, no need to elaborate on what was just a fact.
He squeezed your hand a little harder, but said nothing more, you both just enjoying the touch and comfort of each other’s presence.
You moved your head a little more into the pillows, getting just right as you closed your eyes.
——————————
Your dreams faded in and out, nothing you could remember in detail though as the sunlight on your face now had you squinting. You thought of just pulling the blanket back over your head, but your brain started to register the smell of food as well. Bacon specifically as you lifted your head a little, trying to focus.
“It lives!” Peter joked from beside you, sitting cross legged on top the blankets and just in his boxers again. Two plates of food sat in front of him, the source of the smell you realized as you sat up a little, pulling the sheet up enough to cover your bare chest in the cool room.
Very rarely did he ever wake before you, and your still half asleep stare of confusion only made him smirk a little.
“I had to pee.” He said through a mouthful of food, a sausage biscuit with a large bite already taken out of it in one hand, and a video game controller pressed down into the bed with the other. His hand with the controller was blurring slightly as he moved it just fast enough to work the joy stick and buttons simultaneously. “Then I remembered they released that new DLC last night. Had to try it out. I turned the volume down though. Considerate right?”
And it was indeed silent, not the usual grunts and blasts and screams from that gory fighting game he loved so much. His character was currently comboing another into oblivion on the small TV across from the end of your bed.
Your lack of any real dinner the night before had you focusing back to the food in front of you though.
“Go on,” Peter encouraged. “I knew you’d be hungry. It’s not all for me.”
Normally you were against eating in bed, just from the crumbs and general mess it could make. You’d had the misfortune to find the sticky remnants of Twinkies and the like from Peter’s late and early snacking many times.
Yet even as you picked up one of the amazing looking sausage and egg biscuits for yourself, you wondered if anyone else was now going without. Was it stolen goods? “Where...did this come from?” You asked, voice still a little hoarse from just waking, even as you bit down hungrily.
But the implication of your question didn’t even faze him. “Oh there was plenty. Raven told Hank he didn’t know how to cook, so guess who wins? Us when he made three damn trays of these things.”
“Sounds like she had a plan.” You responded, also grabbing a couple pieces of bacon now.
“Totally.” He agreed. “And orange juice is on the end table, babe.”
You glanced to your side, indeed just noticing the glass beside you then. “Well, you’ve been busy.” But your attention eventually drifted back to him only sitting there in his boxers after you’d taken a few sips of juice. “Did anyone even see you?”
“Nah. Maybe they felt an errant breeze or two.” But he was grinning in a way that still gave you pause.
You watched him a little while longer, only feeling more and more sure before you finally offered out the accusation. “No. You did something. Something else...”
He’d already emptied his plate now, both hands on the video game controller then as he seemed to put his focus solely back to the TV screen. Intentionally of course before he grabbed the nearby remote to start turning the volume back up.
“Peter.” You spoke anyway, knowing full well he could still hear you. “Did we not just scrape by last night without any big consequences? You’re going to put that goodwill to the test already this morning?”
“It’ll be fine.” He answered. “It’s nothing.”
Your eyebrows raised a little. His ‘fine’ and yours could sometimes be completely different things. You sighed, going back to eating the food in front of you as Peter’s character liberated the head off another in a ridiculous fountain of CGI blood.
If you could just finish your breakfast before the next possible calamity-
The bedroom door absolutely rattled in its frame with the pounding on it that almost had you spilling the juice in the bed. By the time your annoyed look moved to the spot Peter had just been, the video game was already paused. Only yourself now alone with whoever was on the other side of that door.
“Just say I’m not here!”
You couldn’t even tell where the whisper came from. Peter either hiding in the closet or maybe the bathroom, they were too near each other to tell.
“I’m not even dressed!” You retorted just to him, quite literally naked as you tried to disentangle yourself from the blankets without dumping your food plate, while simultaneously setting the glass of juice back onto the end table.
Peter said nothing more, so you could only call out that you were coming as you anxiously tried to find some of your clothes from the night before. You were able to find your underwear, and the um, incriminating towel, but that was about it. Sure it’d been dark, but how on Earth anything else could have gotten much farther or under something so quickly was beyond you. You kicked the towel under the bed, and you just had to settle for Peter’s t-shirt crumpled in your path as you grabbed it up and yanked it over your head, hurrying for the door.
You still tried to tug the shirt down as far as you could though, at least covering your panties and butt you hoped before you finally pulled the door open. Pantsless, barefoot, and probably with bedhair as you stared up into the glowing red eyes of a very irritated looking, and entirely shirtless Remy LeBeau.
His expression softened just slightly at the sight of you, his lips curling into a handsome smile. But one that didn’t quite reach those crimson eyes. “Mornin’, cher...so sorry to intrude, but I need to have a few words with that boy toy of yours.”
Yet you were staring still, taking time to process the sight before you. There was black...large black streaks all across his face. It circled his eyes in a cartoon like representation of glasses. Though he already had some stubble on his face, the streaks condensed around his mouth as well, like the upturned mustache and goatee of an old timey villain. As if he should be going to tie up some poor girl to train tracks somewhere.
“Oh my God,” you breathed. Permanent marker, seriously? How old were all of you again? “Remy, I’m sorry.” You thought about saying something about how Peter had let those paparazzi get under his skin last night. But it wouldn’t matter. Not if none of these boys were in the mood to be reasonable right now.
“You know you’re not going to catch him.” Is what you finally said. “Please don’t blow up my bedroom trying.”
“And he ain’t worth my chasin’, petite. I just want to talk,” Remy insisted though, voice as smooth as you’d ever heard it as he leaned against your doorframe in only a pair of pajama pants.
But the few playing cards now flitting between his fingers told you otherwise on his supposed peaceful intentions. Yet when he saw you look down at them, another one appeared seemingly from nowhere in his other hand.
He offered it to you, “But if he isn’t man enough to show himself, at least I get the pleasure of your company, non?”
The card was the king of hearts of course as he palmed it into your hand before you could think to stop him. But you knew it wouldn’t be charged if he was handing it to you like that. You trusted him at least that much.
Yet you were quite sure he was still only trying to lure Peter out by audibly flirting with you now. And sadly, it would probably work. “Remy, can you two just save it for the danger room?” You tried again. “It’s too early, really. I was just trying to eat breakfast.”
“Well, seeing as how you’ve been ditched, I don’t see why someone like you should have to eat all alone.” He answered effortlessly, just strolling past you further into the bedroom as if there was no awkwardness in this at all.
In a moment of panic you wondered if it’d be best to just call for backup. Your cell phone wasn’t very far. Was everyone awake already? What if you just called Rogue? That’d be the most straight forward right? Oh, but you could imagine that conversation. Hey girl, come get your man out of my bedroom please? Yet she totally would. He’d be as helpless as a toddler if she decided she was dragging him out.
“You know,” Remy said, considering a little as he palmed one of the uneaten biscuits right off the tray like it was a bauble to steal. “I did think we looked good together in those pictures they printed from the beach. It’s only natural you know. When two people have chemistry, everybody can see it.”
And that was it, the final straw. You didn’t even know why you still jumped when the bathroom door flung all the way open. The window opened too, a couple cards Remy had already thrown then exploding out there harmlessly like little fireworks as Peter had redirected them outside.
Your bedsheet seemed to have a mind of its own as it ripped off the bed and tied around Gambit as well, pinning his arms to his sides as he was forced to then kneel in front of you.
Peter reappeared at your side, looking down at his handiwork as he scowled at the other man. It was a rare expression on Peter’s face, but a little more jarring for that reason.
“Apologize to (Y/N).” Peter demanded. “Or you’re going out the window next.”
But you knew Remy’s wounded pride meant there would be no such possibility of deescalation now. They were going to have to be physically separated and given a cool off period no matter what. As you considered whether to actually put a shield around one or both of them to essentially begin preparations for mutant time out, Remy was already countering back at Peter, a mocking tone rolling off his tongue.
“Alright. I’m sorry, (Y/N). I’m sorry that you got saddled with a jealous little boy who goes after rivals in their sleep rather than face them like a man. And then just hides behind that same woman he thinks they’re going to take from him, yeah?”
Oh for God’s sake! You dropped the card Remy had given you, that you’d for some reason still been holding. You powered up, trying to catch both of the guys in two of your force fields, Peter had already been in movement though. In actuality you’d only ended up shielding Remy just before Peter had kicked the field, looking as if the hit had been intended for the Cajun’s chest.
“Don’t protect him!” Peter looked to you in surprise.
“I’m protecting both of you!” You responded, then glowing white and hovering now several feet off the floor in your annoyance.
“Kinky.” A new voice spoke, followed by a sing song voice that unfortunately you did now recognize as Deadpool continued. “I see London, I see France, I see (Y/N)’s underpants!”
With your energy humming around you, Peter’s shirt you were wearing was now billowing up a little you realized. Indeed giving a full view to all those below you. You dropped back to the floor immediately, but didn’t power down, keeping the field around Remy as you turned to look at the several people now standing in your doorway.
“You know, this is exactly how those rumors start,” Ellie said in her usual dry tone, taking in the truly bizarre scene of the three of you. “Putting on some clothes might be a good first step. Or you know, at least closing the door.”
The girl otherwise known as Negasonic Teenage Warhead was never one to mince words, even to you all, her sort of superiors. Her girlfriend Yukio only stood beside her, smiling a bit sheepishly.
“Yeah, don’t mind us you little OT3, I just came back to bring Russel his stuff.” He motioned to the boy, who was now also staring at you all. “And your boss Charlie X said I had to have an escort, so I got my old buddies here Nega-angst and Yukio-chan. Oh and-”
Deadpool suddenly grabbed another man who had been standing behind them, bringing him to the front. “This is my all time best buddy Dopinder, he wanted a tour of mutant Hogwarts as well.”
“Hello.” The young man waved a bit shyly. “It is an honor to meet more of DP’s superhero allies.”
“Hey.” Peter said oddly to them after a moment, then looking back to you again. The randomness seemed to have snapped him out of his fixation on getting even with Remy at least for the moment. It now looked like he was waiting for guidance from you on what to do next.
You heard an audible sigh from Remy then as he spoke up. “I rather not destroy your sheets, cher. Truce for today?”
You glanced back to Peter first though before letting down the shield. Making sure he’d agree to untie him. Peter looked reluctant still, but eventually nodded.
And with that you powered down, your field around Remy disappearing as all the energy faded back inside you. In another instant he was completely untied, the sheet semi neatly back on your bed then. You knew some of the food had to have gone flying wherever when Peter had ripped off the bedsheet earlier in their scuffle. But you didn’t really care right now.
“Woah, woah. Is that the new MK game?” Wade just questioned suddenly, then seemingly oblivious to all else as he strode into your room as well.
Why no one had any boundaries today, you had no idea.
“Wait, we get video games too?” Russell also sounded impressed, just following.
“Some of us,” Ellie replied though, giving Peter a skeptical look. “That one might have had a five finger discount.”
Peter huffed at her, non committal on the truth of that statement though, “It’s the new one, yeah. The new DLC just added more characters too.”
You didn’t even care anymore honestly as Wade pulled off his mask and hopped immediately onto your and Peter’s bed, grabbing a controller. “Dibs on Johnny Cage, mother fuckers. Let daddy show you how it’s done.”
“Hey, I want to be Scorpion!” Russell replied, actually sounding like the fourteen year old he really was for once.
And you saw Peter was already digging out another controller from his gaming pile as he scoffed at them both. “Man, you can try. I’ll wipe the floor with you and buzzcut you down to bloody stumps with Kung Lao.”
“Dopinder, google Johnny Cage combos, stat!” Deadpool requested as his friend hurried in, dutifully sitting on the floor and pulling out a cell phone to do just that.
Remy was actually the only male in the room to not be sucked in as he gave you a little look while walking back out. “Later, petite. Sorry for real about the fuss. You know he just irks me.” He leaned in a little closer just to you though. “And I know you’re faithful. He just needs to leave me out of it. Quit readin’ dem damn gossip magazines, yeah?”
“Yes.” You agreed with a smile. A little optimism returning that maybe the two of them could be reasoned with after all. “See ya, Remy.”
He nodded, winking at both Ellie and Yukio as well before he slipped past them and out down the hall. Yukio giggled, but Ellie only rolled her eyes.
“Well, if you put some pants on, maybe there’s still some breakfast left down there. Want to go?” Ellie asked you, crossing her arms. She smirked then though, the guys now commentating and mocking one another like there was some big sporting match going on just a few feet from you. “Let Wade be Peter’s problem for a while, I think you’ve earned it.”
“Sounds like a plan.” You agreed without much hesitation. If Peter needed you, it’s not like it’d even take him two seconds to find you, even with the size of this house.
You did see him glance back ever so briefly as you dug some sweatpants out your dresser drawer and pulled them on though. You made an eating gesture and he nodded, understanding where you were going.
He also made a motion like drinking and you knew that meant he wanted you to bring him back some soda. The more sugar the better for him.
As you walked back downstairs with Ellie and Yukio, Ellie chuckled to herself a little. “You know Wade’s going to think Peter is his bff now. Better buckle up for that ride. Colossus can probably give you some pointers.”
You sighed, looking at the younger two girls. “We’ve survived everything that’s been thrown at us to this point. Could always be worse.”
“Oh yeah, it’ll get worse.” Ellie answered.
Yukio nodded, yet still smiling. “Wade is very special. And deadly.”
“Like a contagion,” Ellie added.
It still didn’t matter though. New, strange friends, or old sometimes combative friends. Gossip and rumors, or anything else. In the end you had to agree with Xavier as you so often usually did. As long as you and Peter kept strong together, none of that outside noise could ever tear you down. You had each other and that was all you needed.

Love. It was a feeling you had refused to believe in. Everyone around you telling you that the one was out there, and it was only a matter of time, but you were convinced that wasn’t true. At one point previously you had believed in it but that only led to a broken heart and weeks of uncontrollable crying, the man you thought was the one, cheating on you only days before your wedding. So how could it be true if the universe had let you suffer that badly? But as cliché as it sounds, that point of view changed completely as soon as you started your new job as a detective in the intelligence unit. From day one you had fallen head over heels for your boss, that hope of love finally returning. It had taken a long time for you to trust him and enter a fully committed relationship as that fear of heartbreak and the large age gap between you loomed over you both initially. Hank had been the best though, taking his time going step by step to make sure you were comfortable with everything, as well as keeping away the judgement from others the best that he could. He understood that feeling himself, still suffering the loss of Camille’s death, scared that you would leave him, but instead of being non-committal, it drove him to love you more, living each day like it was his last.
Now five years later, your relationship was pure bliss. Long gone were the days of doubts and distrust, instead replaced with only contentment and loyalty. Onlookers still judged the unconventional age difference but you had learned to live with it, coming to the conclusion that you loved Hank regardless and that was all that mattered. Only eight months into the relationship he decided that you really were the one for him, and a world in which he didn’t spend the rest of his life with you was one he couldn’t imagine, and so proposed inside his office, the place that started it all. You married shortly after at the courthouse, with only a small guest list, just wanting to be surrounded by your closest friends and family. The unit all in attendance, some crying, others wishing it were them getting married but collectively all ecstatic at the fact their favourite office romance was finally tying the knot. The next couple of months felt like absolute paradise, like you were in some sort of dream never to wake up again. Never a day went by where you didn’t feel the utmost joy and love in your heart, each day was a new adventure with the man that you could finally call your husband. You were on cloud nine thinking your life couldn’t get any better, until one day two pink lines stared back at you.
When you married Hank you didn’t expect to have any children, with him already having Justin and a grandson. This left you a little disheartened, but you would have married him under any conditions, even if that meant your dream of having kids would never come true. Whilst talking about your future together in the first few months of dating, the topic of kids had come up once or twice, with him stating he would love to have kids with you, but believing he couldn’t have any due to his age. But once you had told him you were pregnant, he was absolutely elated, even crying whilst confessing how much he loved and appreciated you. After a relatively difficult pregnancy with Hank being the most supportive, protective partner there could be, you gave birth to a gorgeous baby boy weighing in at 8 pounds, having his eye colour and your nose, a perfect combination of the both of you. For the first few years of your babies life, you spent your time staying at home looking after him, watching him grow up to look more and more like your husband each day. But finally, after his third birthday, you decided the unit was your calling and you wanted to rejoin your old team.
Things started off relatively normal, reuniting with the unit properly, finally becoming a team again. Adrenaline filled your veins once more, loving the thrill of arresting criminals and going on busts. The words ‘let's roll out’ sent sparks of serotonin throughout your body, loving being back after years of ‘calmness’ from child care. This new feeling caused you to get a little over-excited sometimes but nothing, in your opinion, that could be considered careless. However, if you asked Hank he would completely disagree. The man just wanted you to be safe at all times, not just for him but for your son as well. Things started heating up after a couple of weeks of you working there, him not wanting to address it initially as he knew you were so happy doing what you loved, but he was scared for your safety. He didn’t want a repeat of his last marriage, he adored you so much he wouldn’t know what to do with himself if you were to get an injury or die. That was until one night, a bad day at the office caused him to snap, needing you to know how he felt about what you were doing.
Leaning against the counter in the kitchen at your shared home, you heard the door slam, knowing it was Hank, who had stayed behind in his office after a particularly nasty case.
“Hi Babe, did you get everything done that you wanted to?” You chirped, just happy that your husband was finally home.
“Y/N we need to talk,” you turned around to face him, your smile falling at his serious tone.
“Ok?”
“I understand you love being back in the unit but Y/N, we have a son now”
“What are you trying to say?” You replied, your tone turning sour, part of you knew what he was trying to say, but never in your mind did you think he would confront you about it. Why couldn’t he just be happy for you?
“I just think you’re being too reckless in the field,” he remained calm, just trying to get you to understand where he was coming from.
“Reckless? Are you fucking kidding me! I’ve spent three years looking after our kid and you can’t even allow me to have this?” You were furious by this point, you loved your job and had been away from it for a long time. Ok, maybe you were a little under cautious sometimes but not what he was suggesting!
“I'm just looking out for you, I can’t have you dying on me Y/N! You’re my wife for god’s sake I want you to be alive and safe!” He raised his voice, angry you couldn’t see what he was seeing.
“You know what fuck you, Hank!” You pushed past him, grabbing your keys and wallet on the way out, getting into your car to go anywhere but that house.
Driving around the city you were thinking of places to go, your parents, a hotel, another member of the units house? Finally deciding on Jay’s apartment you pulled into his buildings car park, checking your phone before going inside. Staring back at you were five missed calls and thirteen unread messages, all from the same person, the reason why you were outside someone else’s apartment and not your own home. Getting out of your car you walked towards the entrance of the apartment building, mulling over whether you should message Hank back. Deciding against it, you lowered your phone, not even wanting to think about it for the time being. Suddenly someone grabbed you by the waist, yanking you towards them, placing a foreign material over your mouth. You screamed, praying someone would hear your cries as you kicked your legs out and at the perpetrator as they dragged you backwards. More hands reached out to pull you into a car, sobbing you regretted what happened earlier, wishing you would have just stayed home. Finally, as your vision blurred, you hoped the unit would find you before it was too late.
Waking up in a cold room, you tried to pull your arm towards your chest, meeting resistance in the form of metal chains attached above your head. You groggily looked around, using your detective skills to assess the situation you were in, noting nothing in the cold, concrete room except yourself and a metal frame chair placed in front of you. Confused at the situation, you thought about what you had done, was it a person you had arrested? Or someone who had a vendetta against you? That you didn’t know, you couldn’t comprehend anything at the moment, your head pounding not allowing you to think clearly. You remembered being in the apartment complex’s car park after an argument but other than that everything was hazy. Thinking as hard as you could, your thoughts were interrupted as one of the offenders entered the room. He sat at the chair, sharpening his knife, a sadistic smirk played on his face.
“You know why you’re here?” Raking your brain you couldn’t think of anyone you had pissed off enough for them to go to these extremes.
“No,” you replied not wanting to antagonise him in any way.
“Your killer of a husband murdered my boy in broad daylight and no one, NO ONE, ever did anything about it!”
“That wasn’t me, please just let me go, you can talk it out with my husband in the proper ways!” You pleaded, knowing that him showing you his face didn’t bode well for your chances of survival.
“YOU SIGNED UP FOR THIS THE DAY YOU MARRIED THAT MURDERER!” He shouted out, punching you in the stomach, taking his anger out on you anyways possible.
“He’ll find us, and when he does he’ll kill you too,” you spat knowing that you couldn’t make anything worse. In response he threw a series of punches at your face, grabbing his knife holding it to your throat. Smirking he replied,
“You think he really cares about you?”
“WELL, WHERE IS SHE?” Hank was absolutely seething. Shouting at anyone who came to talk to him, both members of his unit and uniformed officers alike. He couldn’t lose her, besides his son, she was his whole life, not even wanting to picture a world where she wasn’t with him. He had to prepare for the worst, he knew that, but he couldn’t do it without a tear coming to his eye. Why her? Why couldn’t they just have taken him instead? He was who they wanted, not her, so why couldn't they just have fucking take him?! The team all sat watching, waiting, knowing it was only a matter of time before he would come out and demand answers, ones they didn’t have at the moment. They owed their boss, cashing in multiple favours with him throughout their time in intelligence, and they knew this was the only thing Voight would ever ask for in return. And Y/N, you had worked with them for years, not just being colleagues but developing a strong friendship that would last years to come, that’s if they could find you in time. Exiting his office, the unit turned to their boss as he spoke.
“I want everyone giving their all to this case, this is my wife we’re talking about, not just some faceless victim, Y/N, your friend, your colleague, and we are going to find her. No matter what it takes, am I clear?” Each detective replied with a ‘yes sarge' and getting to work, investigating every lead that they could. A couple of hours later the team had found the suspects, located pod footage from the time you were kidnapped and worked out a motive, everything seemed like was going well, except for the fact they still didn’t have a location. Another hour passed and still no location, Hank getting more and more agitated by the second, with his anger about to boil over, all with the push of a button, or a certain detective. Being the bearer of bad news, the team pushed Ruzek to play the devils advocate to tell the Sergeant they had come up empty.
“Hey Sarge, we’ve got nothing else, every lead we’ve got is coming up dry”
“NOTHING! YOU’VE GOT NOTHING? SHE COULD BE DEAD FOR ALL WE KNOW AND YOU’RE TELLING ME YOU’VE GOT NOTHING?” Hank boomed scared that his precious wife, who had done nothing to deserve this, could be being tortured or even worse dead.
“Hank, Hank” Olinsky stepped in, pushing his distraught friend back in his office, knowing Adam had done nothing wrong, instead just an outlet for his long term friends anger.
“It's ok, she’s gonna be fine” Alvin reassured him, knowing him exploding with emotions would do nothing to help his missing wife. Finally, an hour later, the team got a breakthrough courtesy of a CI of Dawson's, gearing up and rolling out as quickly as possible much to Hank’s delight.
Raising your head, you spat at the man in front of you, teasing him even more, threatening him to do his worst. He had beat you, cut you, degraded you, trying to get your spirit to break. Although you knew Hank would come to find you, you were starting to crack, the pain overwhelming to the point where you couldn’t cope anymore, a pain you wouldn’t wish on anyone. You were losing faith rapidly, expecting your unit to have already come by now, but where were they? Maybe they didn’t actually care about you? Lowering your head after a series of more beatings, you’d had enough.
“Please stop, please, I’ll do whatever you want, just please stop!” You cried finally giving into the man.
“I want you to pay for what your husband has done to my family, pay with your life,” he pulled a gun from the waistband of his trousers, pointing straight at the middle of your forehead. You had lived your life as much as you could, finding the love of your life, having a son and restoring your faith in the universe, well up until now. Closing your eyes you prepared yourself for the bullet, but when the loud shot came, it wasn’t from a gun but instead the door flying off its hinges.
“DROP THE WEAPON!” Someone shouted, someone that sounded weirdly familiar to your husband.
“DROP IT,” they repeated before you heard a clatter on the ground and a flurry of movement. Suddenly someone grabbed your face, nervously speaking your name. Opening your eyes, you looked up, staring straight into the eyes of your husband, smiling briefly before a cloud of darkness washed over you.
Waking up, the first thing you noticed with the constant beeping of a machine, then the warm feeling of a hand in yours. You slowly opened your eyes, blinking sluggishly adjusting to the harsh light, before focusing on the figure beside you.
“Hank?” You croaked, sounding like death itself but glad you were alive and facing your husband once more.
“Baby! Thank god you’re alive, you got me so worried there,” you smiled, thanking whatever god was out there for a second chance so you could spend the rest of your life with your husband and child.
“I-i missed you, Hank”
“I know Baby, I know I missed you too.”
“I’m sorry for walking out on you, why couldn’t I have just stayed there and listened to you? Talked it out properly”
“No don’t apologise, this was all my fault, you loved what you were doing and I was trying to take that away from you because of my own selfish wants.” You loved the man beside you unconditionally and although you were mad in the moment, this whole situation made you realise that nothing he could do could make you love him any less.
