Nico, struggling: *starts to cry*

Zagreus: *gets smacked at the back of his head* OW! Thanatos!

Thanatos: Give it back to him, you imbecile.

Zagreus: Jeez, it was just a joke. *kneels down and puts his fist on Nico's face* There.

thanatos who used to ask for his brother, hypnos, to visit his children for him and make sure they’re okay

thanatos who went to the underworld to talk to hades but ended up getting scolded by persephone for not visiting his kids

thanatos who cried when his children hugged him for the first time

thanatos who gifted his kids with silver necklaces that they could use to call him if they needed to

thanatos who refuses to take his kids souls to the underworld and always gives them more chances to live

thanatos who got in an argument with hypnos and morpheus because some of his kids were suffering from insomnia and nightmares

thanatos who spends almost a month asking hades for a day off because he wanted to spend his kids’ birthday with them in the camp

thinking abt a version of hoo where nico puts almost as much effort into avoiding jason that he does with percy. idk maybe a different couple falls in hoh. or no one does or they find and save nico earlier on in the book, but either way nico flinches when jason gets close and recoils from percy and everyone is just like "hmm, maybe he doesn't like his cousins?"

but nah he recoils from percy because his crush was a flagrant nightmare for him down in tartarus and his comatose state, a constant laugh of percy coming to save everyone else but not nico because "he's not worth it". it's not percy's fault, nico isn't ashamed of who or how he loves but it's hard to see percy the same way without the torture and nightmares outlining his frame

and he flinches away from jason because he got to reexperience over and over again his mom's death, the deaths of his half-siblings at the hands of their fearful skyborn cousins. jason's soul is too similar to zeus', bright yellow and painfully loud. electrically charged around the edges. nico's skin ache as his body remembers the pain he felt, the burning, the seizure of his muscles, when his mother died. always so tapped into his family, so sensitive to the souls around him - it just ricocheted back at him.

he chokes on the ghostly taste of his own blood from nightmares when percy's around and burns from the phantom sense of electrocution when jason flits by. jason is kind and it feels like a trap. percy is concerned and it feels like a trap.

it's not. he knows it's not. but he has history and fear on his side. as soon as it's all over, he's headed for the underground. settling in deep like a corpse six feet under. they can't get him there.

It's 1 in the morning and for whatever reason I am imagining the servants of Hades (i.e. Charon, the Furies, ect) unionizing.

#hell even Hermes can join #they all go on strike but for very different demands #Charon wants to be paid more. The Furies just want to feel appreciated. Being inspired by my own poll about Leo being fucked up post resurrection- him being hunted by Thanatos, and it coming to a head at camp, him running across the central green with the shadow of a winged figure closing in on him.

He bursts into Cabin Thirteen and, breathless, terrified and still a little wonky from coming back to life, explains the situation very poorly as: “Nico, I need help, I’m being pursued by a beautiful angel of a man!”

And Nico, who is of course in love with him and has been missing him terribly, folds down his newspaper in offense and says “Well, boo-fucking-hoo for you.”

Then Thanatos dive bombs one of the windows, cue demigod screams of terror, end scene.

Underworld siblings bonding about how beautiful death is would be such a nice topic to explore within the context of Thanzag and Anubico and having the goddess of blessed death as their sister(Macaria)

Every other person sees death as an ugly thing, the figure who takes their loved ones away, someone who took some people too early from this world, something that took chances away from people. Same thing with funerals, where people come to say goodbye for the last time to their loved ones, to never see and hear them laugh and enjoy life. But not Nico and Zagreus,

Zagreus thinks death is beautiful, majestic, gorgeous even, despite him dying a couple hundred times, he was head over heels in love with death, and he definitely agrees with people who say death is similar with love, because both looked really handsome and dateable, especially death.

Nico on the other hand was heavily interested in funeral rites and embalming, he finds the idea to preserve a loved one through ways and rituals that vary across the globe and pantheons to be interesting, which led to his encounter with the egyptian god of funeral rites and embalming.

And the pair of brothers, along with their sister, Melinoë, adored their older sister, Macaria, especially Nico, who lived the longest as partly mortal. Macaria showed Nico that even though death can seem cruel, but it can also be blessed and peaceful, such as death of old age, and even heroic deaths since she also helps guide those who died a heroic death to elysium or the Isles of the Blessed

You know how there’s a myth that if you die in your sleep you die in real life.

Now apply that myth to a Hypnos kid and the added fact that monsters sleep too.

And then you add the fact that Demi god dreams are essentially premonitions and Hypnos children all have power over dreams and sleep so it’s highly likely there’s a child of Hypnos who could quite possibly be the most powerful seer.

if you really wanna go over powered give the child of Hypnos the ability to hypnotize people, essentially charm speak them.

plus wings if you’re feeling it because please remember Hypnos has wings, is the twin to Thanatos who’s the god of death who also has wings so a child of Hypnos having wings isn’t actually far fetched.

Essentially a child of Hypnos, can be a seer, capable of killing anything without having to do any physical exertion, could potentially mind control people and monsters, and has the capacity to have wings.

Oh and Hypnos is a child of Nyx and Nyx is the most feared deity because of their immense power.

Edit; Astral Projection being a potential power as well, as the Astral plane could be seen as the Dream plane and that something similar can be induced by hallucinogenic’s or hypnosis.

Edit two; Sleep is connected to the subconscious mind so maybe a Hypnosis child is capable of mind reading as well, specifically when the person is asleep they can slip into the “conscious mind” and look around.

Erebus & Nico: I wouldn't say this as a ship... unless the term 'platonic ship' exist. I prefer to think of them as... soulmates? What do you call two lonely souls seeking each other's company?

I'm sure this is not all of them... I mean. I have read more. And probably forget a bunch...

I wouldn't say I have a favourite ship... well there're times that I would invest more in a specific pairing, but that doesn't mean I like other ships any less. I have 5 drafts for Jasico and then I have a Nicobaster week and then a Percico-marathon. Generally speaking though, I would say I usually... prioritize (?) the rarepairs. Since you know, the canon one and the more popular ones alr have people building the empire for them. I might be the only one invested in a Son of Persephone with Nico, for example, so I tend to gravitate towards it, in hopes of contributing a small brick for this little tent compared to their nation; or sometimes it's just because there's someone else more invested in me and their dedication fuels me (yes you @drksanctuary).

Anw I hope this gives you an insight into how wild of a being I am LMAO. I'm a proshipper. I have no qualms when it comes to enjoying fiction - as long as I enjoy it. Be free. Trust me.

Bianca and Nico being stillborns, because no matter how badly Hades wanted to actually be there for their birth, he just couldn't make it, so instead, the second they are born their souls get picked up by Thanatos, so Hades can see them.

It's only for a minute at most, where Maria cradles her children to her chest, and they don't cry or breathe, they are cold, and their hearts don't beat.

And then, just as quickly, their souls are returned to the world of the living, and they give their first cry of life.

Afterwards, when Maria is introducing her children to their father directly for the first time, and giving Hades the scolding of his inmortal life simultaneously, for scaring her like that, Hades doesn't really have anything to say on his defense, except that he just couldn't wait to meet his children.

And well, Nico takes after his father, Hazel learns that better than ever before, when her own child is a stillborn, and Nico's only defense is that he was way too excited to meet his little nephew, he just couldn't wait.

Hazel swears that if she didn't love her brother so much, she would kill him herself, just for scaring her like that.

thanatos’ cabin headcanon

cabin’s song: demons - imagine dragons

thanatos is the god of dead, literally being the personification of peaceful death

his kids are usually very pretty and mysterious, which is what makes people so afraid of them.

since death usually follows the demigods, the other campers used to believe that thanatos’ kids were that pretty to seduce them to go to the underworld if they get too close to them

but hypnos and nemesis children weren’t scared of them since they’re all cousins🤷‍♀️

they’re usually very calm and quiet and find it difficult to open up even to their closest friends

but they’re really good at understanding people’s feelings, and know what to do if someone needs them

thanatos’ children had to wait for a long time until other cabins started trusting them, they had to prove that they were good people and that they just wanted to help others

so they became friends with cabin 1, 4, 6, 13, 20, besides cabin 15 and 16 who were already their friends

they’re really good listeners

usually talented poets and writers, and most of them are good musicians as well

their cabin is not crowded since thanatos is a very busy god so his kids are really close to each other

they don’t have a way to talk directly to their father so they’d ask for cabin 13 or 20’s help to do so

really good at archery

i think they’d feel cold most of the time, even in the summer

at some point they became really popular in chb, but they didn’t like the attention so started pranking some campers with their powers so people would leave them alone

they usually have a strong connection to animals and it’s common for chiron to find stray animals inside their cabin, like cats, birds, dogs and even a pegasus once

they value their sleeping schedule a lot so don’t bother them if they’re asleep

thanatos’s kids are really disciplined and responsible

usually ask for their friends safety on their prayers for thanatos

probably addicted to true crime podcasts and at some point they wanted to be detectives or something close to that

they have a lot of questions about the world but no one has answered them yet to “protect” them

even though they’re usually calm, they will challenge you if they feel like it. really, i can imagine one of them teasing hades by saying thanatos would be a better king for the underworld than him😶

and somehow they think the consequences will never come back to them🤷‍♀️

thanatos’ kids like taking care of the others but like being taken care of too, since their father had to ignore their existence for some time, they are kind of love deprived

they’re one of the best friends you’ll ever have
