Why The Witch From Mercury is Important to Me
Tumblr media
This will be a long, somewhat rambling and mostly personal thread. It's not about the show's quality or any issues I had about it (and YES, the show is flawed and has issues), but about why G-Witch's characters and themes were important to me and I think many others. Most of this I've already shared to a degree, but I wanted to expand my original thoughts, and put them all into one post.
I've been a Gundam fan for over 20 years, I got into the series with Wing on Toonami and have watched the vast majority of the animated series. As a woman, I longed for the day Gundam would have a female main character in the spotlight of a major show, but honestly at some point I'd given up on it. I just thought that if they hadn't done it by now, they never would.
Then, last March, they released this short 30 second trailer revealing The Witch From Mercury, and showing off Suletta and Aerial, and I was ecstatic! Finally, a female MC in a Gundam series, I was so excited for a new Gundam series for the first time since 00! I watched that short clip countless times over the months in anticipation of the series airing, I even grew addicted to the little song that plays during it.
youtube
Over time, the characters and key art were revealed and I saw some people float the idea that maybe Suletta and Miorine would be love interests. I didn't pay it any mind at the time. I was sure they'd milk their relationship for bait along the way, but there was no way they'd commit to Gundam's first female MC being gay. Even after the first episode aired I was still skeptical: There was the bait I was expecting, they're not seriously going to go through with it though.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And here we are, almost 10 months after G-Witch started airing, and Suletta & Miorine are married. It not only wasn't bait, but they committed to it in a way I never would have imagined coming from a franchise I loved like Gundam. It was done with care and respect for the characters, it didn't feel like it was exploitative or added just for fanservice, but was a very real relationship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'll admit, I was initially among those disappointed we didn't see a kiss or the wedding at the end, but my greatest fear was the ending would be as ambiguous as possible, or even worse, walk back what we'd seen, so as not to offend people. Instead we got the sister-in-law line, the matching wedding rings, how close they were and they way they looked at each other with love and talking about going home together. We didn't see them kiss or see the wedding, but we got to see them married, and I think that's incredible.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As a gay woman, and a Gundam fan of over 20 years, Suletta is an immensely important character to me. Suletta and Miorine's relationship, and it being a central focus of the story, is immensely important to me. They're things I dreamed of having in Gundam, but never really thought would ever happen. I've been so happy about them for a long time now, but these last two days I've been so unbelievably happy that I was given their story. I love them so much and I'm never going to forget these two.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And this ties into why I think G-Witch has been important to so many people, regardless of how they feel about it's quality, because of it's representation and themes. Suletta, the main character of the show, is a queer, neurodivergent, disabled woman of color. She was well written, and she got to have a happy ending married to the woman she loves, where she's thriving and happy despite her mobility. She's not treated with pity or remorse, and she's still pursuing her dreams of making a school.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And not just Suletta, there were so many characters belonging to different minority groups that got strong representation and happy, satisfying endings. If you're a woman, if you're queer, if you're a POC, if you're any sort of ND, if you're disabled, The Witch From Mercury not only gave you good representation, but also said you're deserving of love, empathy and happiness.
With regard to it's themes, I absolutely love how G-Witch stressed love, empathy, compassion, acceptance and forgiveness over hate, vengeance, punishment and karma. Suletta and Miorine made many mistakes during their journey that they could never take back, but they accepted each other, including their mistakes, and resolved to move on together and makes amends for them if possible. Suletta never got mad at Miorine, Prospera or Eri for the things they did to her and she never blamed them, all she did was understand and accept why they did the things they did, and move forward with her love for them. She accepts the people she loves, mistakes and all, because of her unrelenting love and compassion for them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Even Prospera, the main antagonist, ultimately rejected revenge for the sake of saving her daughter. She was a less than stellar parent to Suletta, and her actions lead to a heavy death toll, but ultimately Suletta accepted her and her actions to save Eri. And rather than go for an easy karmic death, she was allowed to have a happy ending: Eri was saved, and she's living a peaceful life with her family. A life that was robbed from her 24 years prior.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And ultimately, those themes are why we had an ending where literally no one died, and nearly every character got to have a happy ending. Gundam has always said that violence is bad, but The Witch From Mercury was the first to say "Alright, then we'll solve the problem without violence." We got a big magic spell that was a Gundam Pride Parade in space, and combined with Miorine's actions, events were resolved peacefully.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's why G-Witch is important to me. It gave me and many others representation in ways you almost never get from a major franchise like Gundam, and without feeling like it was doing it to just check boxes off on some executive's diversity list. It stressed themes of love, empathy and acceptance and rejected hate, revenge, karma and even death. And I think that's incredibly important in this day and age. Representation Matters. Love Matters.
I've been very emotional over this show the last two days because I've been loving it for a while now, and while I'm sad to see it end, I'm so grateful that it happened, flaws and all. I've been crying on and off since the last episode ended and I've had trouble sleeping, but I've been so unbelievably happy over what this one show did and how much it's meant to me. The characters may not be real, but the happiness Suletta & Miorine have brought me is very much real.
For me; Suletta, Miorine, and The Witch From Mercury were truly a blessing.

2018.October 31
You shouldn't be here, you should be far away in Malaysia drinking wine and relaxing. But being a jujutsu sorcerer, you didn't know peace.
Your ears hurt from the noise around you, your head felt like it was going to explode and the blood in your nose wouldn't stop- everything felt so familiar, the desperation, the fear, the taste of death on your tongue.
Using your expansion domain had really tired you out but at least you were able to help, now you just needed to find your husband.
Your husband, the father of your daughter, your best friend, your partner, your Kento.
Running through the rubble, you heard Itadori Yuuji scream and your heart stopped for a moment.
Everything felt so familiar, suddenly 28 years of your life began to flash before your eyes.
10 years before the Shibuya Incident.
2006. November 5
Spending your time with Shoko Ieiri was more common than unusual, you were almost always a group of four with your two male friends, but you and Shoko simply completed each other.
"Oi Y/N, are you listening to me?"
Sitting on the patio stairs, you watched the two idiots who were your second-year friends and the two young first-years. But your gaze remained on one in specific.
"Sorry, I got lost in my thoughts" you murmured, looking away, Shoko raised one of her eyebrows and pointed her lollipop at you.
"In your thoughts or in the first year? I didn't think you liked people younger than you."
You rolled your eyes, it was useless to deny Shoko anything, you knew each other like the back of your hand.
" He's cute, I'll give you that, it's kinda serious but I think it's because I'm used to Gojo's immaturity." You joked, making Shoko laugh, a throat clearing made you turn around, it was Yaga-sensei.
You both jumped to your feet quickly, you were supposed to be training with the rest.
"Ladies, I'll pretend I didn't see you. Y/n, i will wait for you and Nanami in the classroom in 15 minutes. Don't be late" Yaga said walking towards said place, Shoko and you sighed, you were saved from a scolding.
Shoko nudged you and smiled mischievously, "Looks like he got you a date."
You rolled your eyes and sighed, it was going to be a long day.
Yaga assigned you a mission, quite easy really, you assumed he was testing Nanami's abilities. Usually the first years had fairly quiet missions, so you assumed you were just there in case things got out of your control.
"I'm sorry you were assigned to me. I know that you are more advanced than me, after all, you are a special grade." Nanami murmured, surprising you, the entire trip to the desolate forest he hadn't said much.
You smiled and shook your head, you continued moving forward, being attentive, "Don't worry Nanami, a mission is never completely easy, it's always useful to have extra experience."
Nanami didn't say anything, he just stared at you. You were very kind and precious in his eyes, but he couldn't help but assume that your feelings belonged to someone else.
""So tell me, would you have preferred to come with someone else?" you asked turning around, you felt the cursed energy emanating from many sides but you couldn't know for sure, being close to Nanami really distracted you.
The first year just denied, he was about to respond but out of nowhere a cursed spirit appeared climbing a tree and attacking you.
Honestly, you could use your cursed technique and it would all be over soon, but you decided to let Nanami act.
Nanami quickly pushed you to the ground, preventing the spirit from hurting you, he took out his cursed object and activated his technique, managing to hurt the spirit but not fatally as it managed to dodge the blow a little.
"Good job Nanami! Finish it now" you exclaimed, standing up from the ground smiling.
Nanami couldn't help but feel a little euphoria knowing that he was able to protect you, he followed your orders and this time he didn't miss the precision blow that killed the spirit.
You ran towards him and hugged him tightly, you were excited to see the confidence in his fight and you let yourself be carried away by the emotion. Nanami tensed for a moment making you release him.
"Sorry Nanami, the euphoria of the moment, but you did very well!"
Nanami again just nodded and followed you back to the car. As he watched you walk in front of him and talk about what you wanted to eat for dinner, he touched his cheeks as he felt them hot.
He assumed it was just because of the fight.
Months later, Nanami learned that he hated seeing you cry. He never thought that a mission with Gojo and Geto could go wrong, but that damn mission ruined everything.
Haibara and Nanami watched as the three of you arrived with a serious and cold countenance, but Nanami could only watch you. Haibara stopped to talk to Geto but you kept going, not bothering to talk to them.
You were heading to your room, the whole mission was a disaster. Riko's death, seeing Gojo "dead" on the ground full of insects on him, Geto's fury, a guy didn't hesitate to stab you in the stomach.
If Geto didn't find you on the ground bleeding, it was almost certain that you would die.
You were barely 17 years old, everything felt very unreal, all the scenes were playing in your head, tears filled your eyes.
You couldn't help but relive the smell of Gojo's blood, the sharp pain in your stomach, how the light faded from Geto's eyes after seeing Riko dead.
You crouched down with your head in your hands and began to hyperventilate, you heard footsteps behind you and activated your cursed technique in paranoia, if you had done it last time, maybe it would have been more useful.
Your cursed technique could alter the mobility of any being, with the condition that they became slower and you became faster, the weaker they were the better, the stronger they were it cost you a little more.
Nanami stayed still, he didn't want to upset you any more than you already were. Upon recognizing him you deactivated your technique.
"I'm sorry"
Nanami's words were silent, you wouldn't have known he spoke them if you weren't looking at his face. Your face was full of your tears, the pain evident in your eyes, and your silence scared him.
Usually between the two of you, you were always the one who brought up topics of conversation and it didn't bother you that he didn't talk much so when he didn't hear a response from you, he approached slowly, careful not to scare you.
You closed your eyes as you felt the heat of his body surround you, you rested your head on his chest and cried harder. Nanami just held you tighter to him, it really hurt him to see your broken spirit.
"I was so scared Nanami, seeing the one who is supposed to be the strongest so hurt and miserable, it made me believe that I would have no more chance to live. Then the damn son of a bitch hurt me, from one moment to the next I was lying on the ground."
Nanami nodded and was a little stung by your comment about Gojo, he understood your crying as fear of losing him.
"I'm so sorry y/n, you're too young to have experienced that. But you said it yourself, every mission is an experience, and you will be stronger now."
Nanami's words calmed you a little, he grabbed your face in his hands and wiped the tears from your cheeks, "Better?"
You looked at him for a moment, and the temptation to kiss him was great, but not enough, "A little, thank you, Nanami."
Nanami hugged you again and you didn't need him to tell you anything else, in his hug he communicated many things.
The main one was "you are not alone"
You realized that you also hated seeing Nanami Kento cry.
After Riko's incident, you became much closer, Nanami getting along more and more with you. You didn't know whether to blame it on Haibara's personality rubbing off on him or it was simply because he liked you.
You were in your room reading when Shoko entered your room pale and agitated from running to you, you closed your book and looked at her with concern, you knew that the first years had gone on a mission.
'It's Haibara, he..." Shoko couldn't finish the sentence and bit her lips, you got up and hugged her, feeling her sob, Haibara Yu was a very warm person and his loss was felt between you.
You couldn't help but ask about Nanami, Shoko smiled wiping her eyes, "He's fine, he's in the morgue with Geto, go see him, im sure he needs to talk."
You made sure Shoko was okay, leaving a kiss on her cheek you ran to the morgue, when you arrived you saw Nanami Kento close the door behind him.
Your heavy breathing caught his attention and he turned to look at you, you noticed his red eyes.
"Nanami, I'm so sorry, Shoko already informed me."
You approached and Nanami looked away so you stopped, you noticed his face was serious as always but this time you felt hostility towards you.
"I'm so sorry Nanami, he didn't deserve that, Shoko told me that Gojo finished the mission, it should have been a mission for us, not you."
Your words made Nanami look mocking, he rolled his eyes and looked at you coldly, "You're right. It was supposed to be an easy mission but it wasn't, maybe if your stupid boyfriend acted when he was supposed to do it, he would still be alive"
It was evident that Nanami was saying those words to hurt you, you understood that each person had a grieving process, but you were not going to let him crush your feelings.
"First of all, I don't know what boyfriend you're talking about. Second, missions are supposed to be assigned according to rank, it's not my fault you guys weren't up to the task."
You were being unfair, and you knew it. But your feelings were hurt, you supposed you had to do the same.
Nanami approached you and looked you straight in the eyes, you didn't feel scared because you knew he would never hurt you, "Don't stand here and talk about survive to a mission when you experienced the exact same thing, you survived that mission thanks to Geto according to you. You're no better than us y/n, we're all trying to survive here."
With those words you saw him walk away from you, and this time you didn't follow him.
2007. April 24
You lasted exactly five months without speaking to Nanami, and he didn't do anything to speak to you either. You were both very stubborn, but you were still his weakness.
You were again on the stairs that led to the patio, you bit your lips waiting for news from Geto, according to what someone reported, he had massacred a village and even murdered his own parents.
You couldn't understand that your sweet friend could have done something so cruel and inhumane. Gojo had called and announced that officially, Geto Suguru has deserted.
Your friend Suguru, who told you to confess your feelings to Nanami, who let you comb his hair, who was such a good person.
You didn't understand.
A few steps made you turn in another direction, wiping the tears from your face, you were tired of people seeing you cry. That someone sat next to you and you were silent. You didn't need to look to know who it was.
"I guess you already know. 112 deaths were reported in the village he visited" you bit your lips and nodded, you had nothing to say.
""I'm sorry for what I said to you that day, it was inappropriate and you didn't deserve that."
You honestly didn't have the head to process Nanami's apology, you just nodded again and looked to the side.
"It's okay, we're fine, I'm also sorry for reacting like that, I had to be more understanding."
Nanami didn't say anything else, he just grabbed one of your hands and held it, startling you. You had forgotten that he was already more trusting with you, making you blush.
You looked at him and knew that a question that needed to be spoken rested on his tongue.
Nanami opened his mouth but a voice and footsteps silenced him.
"And what is this supposed to be? Don't tell me Nanamin that you proposed a date to y/n."
Gojo Satoru stood tall in front of them with a mocking smile, next to him was a boy with a serious face.
You didn't understand how he of all people could be so well off.
"Now you also kidnap children? That's low even for you" you said releasing Nanami and standing up to approach the boy.
"Oh yn-chan, don't say those things in front of Megumi-chan, you'll leave him with a bad impression of me."
"Don't worry, I already have it"
You laughed and Gojo gasped indignantly.
The blonde also stood up and had a grim face, he didn't appreciate Gojo's arrival.
He supposed it was for the best that you didn't know about his feelings, after all, you even had your little family without him.
2009. February 18
At twenty years old, life had a bittersweet taste. You were still a sorcerer, you helped Gojo raise the son of the man who gave them immense trauma.
God knows that Fushiguro Megumi had no sin, he was a stubborn and sweet child, he needed help in life. And also Gojo.
But you knew that you weren't Geto's replacement.
You and Shoko were still as close as ever, except now she was working as a doctor and you were still going on missions.
It had been a year since you had seen Nanami, he had left the world of jujutsu and you understood his reasons.
You know well that Haibara's death hit him deep, like everyone else, and you heard from Gojo that he now works in an office, how pathetic.
It was an ordinary and bright day, rarely you didn't have a mission but Gojo did, so he asked you if you could take care of Megumi and his sweet sister Tsumiki.
The children were in their respective classes, so you decided to stop by a bakery to buy sweets. Their school was close to the central area, thanks to the money Gojo spent on them. You had to admit, Gojo really tried for those kids.
You entered and a girl helped you, it was the first time you were there on Gojo's recommendation. The girl was very sweet and friendly, she reminded you of people from the past.
When you were about to pay the bell at the door announced a new buyer, the girl greeted him with familiarity, curiosity got the better of you and you turned around.
You were surprised. Nanami Kento had definitely grown in a year, he was taller and his once thin body was now more muscular, you liked it.
Feeling your gaze, you noticed how his eyes were surprised and you smiled. Some things remain the same.
"Well well, but who do we have here? the second deserter" You joked, elbowing him, up close you could notice how wide he became.
Nanami shook his head and adjusted his tie, feeling nervous out of nowhere, "I've never seen you here. Only Gojo, do you do his shopping now too?"
Ok Nanami didn't want to sound so bitter, the comment slipped out and you could tell his regret so you let it go.
"Actually, I buy for the children, today I take care of them" You said paying, you waited for him to finish his purchase watching the girl's smile towards him and you couldn't help but frown.
You both left the store and stood there, once again your curiosity got the better of you, "So, do you come here often for the sweets or for the girl?"
Nanami was surprised to hear your question, were you jealous of him? It doesn't make sense, after all you were the one who got engaged to someone else.
"If you must know, both."
You nodded, smiling with an undeniable ardor in your heart. You couldn't blame him for moving on with his life, after all, everyone had.
'That's good, I see you moved on from your past life quickly" your comment shouldn't have sounded like that either, it just did, but Nanami didn't let it go.
The blonde man approached you with a frown, this time you couldn't help but feel intimidated by his large figure.
"Which past life? Y/n, i remember all the days, all the missions, all the pain. They took our adolescence from us." You bit the inside of your cheek, and Nanami continued, "You can't blame me for trying to build a new life when you did it first."
Nanami turned to leave but this time you didn't let him, you went around him and stood in front of him. "What the hell are you talking about? Explain yourself"
Nanami snorted and crossed his arms, he looked kind of funny with a baguette in his arms, "You know what I'm talking about."
If there is any god who gives you patience, why were you going to kill this man.
"Stop talking shit and explain yourself, you always do this, say something and walk away. Not this time, tell me what you mean" you said getting closer to him and Nanami didn't back away.
Nanami set his jaw and let out a stressed sigh, "Oh you don't know what I'm talking about, of course. You've cried for Gojo Satoru all your life, you were the one who now has a family with him. You never even considered me and now that I'm moving on and forgetting you, you decide to judge me for it. It's not fair."
You were speechless, you always had the sneaking suspicion that Nanami thought you liked one of your friends, but you never believed that the idiot was capable of thinking that.
"Nanami Kento, you are an idiot."
Nanami was ready to respond, but your lips on his silenced him. Surprised, it took him a second to respond to the kiss, but he quickly followed it, showing how much he wanted you.
""Wait, I can't do this, Gojo is an idiot but he doesn't deserve this."
You couldn't help but laugh, "I never liked Gojo, I always liked you. And I adore the children, but our relationship with Gojo is strictly about them. Our friendship and Shoko's is the last thing we have left, I don't like him. nor me to him"
Those words were a cool summer breeze for him, this time Nanami hugged you, lifting you off the ground, making you laugh.
You separated from him a little and asked about the girl at the bakery.
""I helped her free herself from a curse, her spirit reminds me of him."
You understood who he was talking about and you smiled sadly, hugging him again.
His hug communicated many things. This time he said, "Please be mine."
2017. December 18
Peace reigned in your comfortable home, you were preparing homemade dough to receive your husband with pizza.
Your 3-year-old daughter was sleeping soundly in her room, every so often you checked on her on the monitor that your controlling husband needed. You have to admit that it also helps you do things around the house.
You are still a jujutsu sorcerer, only now you worked more as a teacher since d/n was born.
You usually spent your mornings with the students, d/n in kindergarten or sometimes accompanied you, and your husband worked until it was time to pick her up.
Your husband. It had been 5 years since you got married and it still tickled you to call him that.
In 2013, after being together for 4 years, he surprised you with an romantic dinner and asked you to marry him. The wedding was also very intimate , only the people close to you.
In 2014 you received your little daughter, who was an identical copy of your husband. Everything seemed to have finally fallen into place, you were happy and lived as peacefully as you could.
You smiled, lost in your thoughts, so much so that you didn't feel arms surround your waist, startling you. Behind you, your husband laughed.
"Don't worry, love, I didn't want to scare you." Nanami Kento placed a tickling kiss on your neck, "Is everything okay?"
You sighed contently into his arms, "Yes, I'm sorry, I got lost in my head."
Nanami nodded and went to check on d/n who was starting to wake up. You turned off the pan with your sauce and followed him.
In your daughter's room, there were plenty of toys courtesy of her uncle Gojo and her aunt Shoko, both of them always took care of her on the days when you and Nanami went out to eat.
You opened the door slowly and found your husband with your daughter in his arms, she was always a daddy's girl, and you wouldn't change it for the world.
"How did you behave with mom, honey, okay?" d/n nodded smiling and Nanami left a kiss on her cheek making her explode with laughter, "Of course you behaved well, if you're an angel."
You laughed, denying, making your presence known, d/n saw you and stretched out her arms for you to pick her up, to which you agreed, "An angel who already broke his uncle's third pair of sunglasses"
Kento laughed, "Gojo is literally rich, his only expense is Fushiguro but that kid doesn't bother him"
"Uncle Gojo!! He promised he would bring cookies" D/n said, remembering her uncle's promise.
You and Nanami looked at each other disapprovingly, it was inevitable that Gojo secretly gave the little girl sweets, thousands of times you scolded him for it but he never learns.
"How about after dinner, you finish all your vegetables and I'll see if I can find something sweet for you, how does that sound?" Nanami knew that d/n would never pass up an opportunity like that, he laughed when he saw her celebrating with you.
He approached and hugged them. Something you shared with your daughter was a love for Nanami Kento's hugs.
He placed a kiss on your foreheads and smiled, looking at you warmly, "Thank you."
2018. June 16
Shoko Ieri loved playing with your daughter, she always said that she was very smart for her age, now that she was 4 years old she was more perceptive and you suspected that she could already feel the cursed energy.
You were in Shoko's office until you received a call from Nanami, worrying you since it was work hours.
"Hi baby, everything okay?"
"Gojo called me, offered me a job again."
You talked to him about it many times, but he never wanted to come back. You always knew that the office bored him to death and that his heart was in Jujutsu, so you assumed that Gojo Satoru also perceived the same.
"Well, I don't know what to say, you left me speechless" there was no response from the other side, "Listen Kento, I will support you in whatever you decide. Do what makes you happy, you are an excellent sorcerer and a good person. These children could use a little of your stoic character."
Even on the phone you could feel the smile forming on his lips.
"Thank you my love, we will talk at home. I hope everything turns out well."
2018. October 31
Hearing Itadori's scream was like seeing Gojo lying on the ground again, blood pouring out of his body.
You were quite far away but you could see well.
Nanami Kento, with half of his body burned, without an eye, looked towards where Itadori was, in front of him was Mahito touching him.
The tears were stuck without coming out, you saw Nanami's lips move towards Itadori and your heart crushed.
And what you feared most happened.
You saw it all in the front row, blood splashing, his body destroying itself under Mahito's command.
This time you didn't scream, nor did your tears come out, you were already tired of crying.
Your soul was on fire and there was no one to quench the hatred you felt inside you. Was this what Geto once felt?
You stood still before the scene, you heard Itadori scream again and that was when without realizing it you began to move forward.
Mahito saw you coming after Itadori and smiled macabrely, as if he was proud of what he had done.
"Itadori"
The boy turned around and you could see that the scene had also affected him, you felt his body tremble with anger.
""Together" you announced and the young man nodded with determination, both began to run towards the curse that awaited for you with a smile.
You really didn't know what you were going to tell your daughter, or if Gojo had a plan to stop this madness, or if you were even going to come out alive.
You just knew that you weren't going to let your husband die in vain.
And after finishing Mahito, you were going to travel with d/n to Malaysia.
n/a: I hope you like it, I'm going to make a version for Geto and Toji for sure.

CHERRY BLOSSOMS haitani rindou
sfw, nothing happens

Tumblr media
part ii / i just want you to take me where your heart is.
Rindou is having trouble falling asleep.
He's got a 10 o'clock with the higher ups first thing in the morning. Rindou vividly remembers asking his direct supervisor, Kimura-san on what the meeting is about as soon as he was notified about it.
He’s thought it through -- there is no reason for them to want to see him personally (he’s sure he’s never given them one), nor does he remember doing anything that might have seem out of line, or perhaps appeared a little too out of place in the company. A meeting of only him with the higher ups? It's scary even for someone like Haitani Rindou to face.
"That's exactly it, Haitani. You've been a bit too out of place lately."
Fuck-
"And by that, I mean, you've been showing off brilliant work."
" . . . Excuse me?"
Kimura-san chuckles and brings a wrinkled hand up to pat his junior's back as they walk side by side together through the long corridor that leads to the break room. Rindou fixes his tie out of habit and holds a sealed envelope tight in his hand -- the paper almost crumpled -- as he brings himself together to listen to his senior's words.
"You've been doing great, Haitani. Awesome performance, extremely satisfying work and you're very punctual. Believe me, I'm glad I chose the right person to nominate for this promotion. I've been watching you ever since you started working here as a clerk, and I have to say, I'm proud of you, boy. You've been working hard every day for . . . How long has it been? Five months? Your dedication is worth congratulating. Keep it up, young man. And don't worry about the meeting, it's all part of the promotion process. You'll be fine."
Though Kimura-san's attempt at comforting him worked that day, it certainly failed miserably today. It's less than 7 hours to when he'll soon be standing in front of a conference room facing the Chief Executive and his subordinates, and he doesn’t know why.
What if it goes bad and it's not the kind of meeting that Kimura-san said it would be? What if they're there to tell me I'm rejected for the promotion? Or even worse, fired and-
Rindou suddenly hears a certain conversation of Ran and himself echoing in his head. The loud yet timid 16 year old Rindou and the childish and arrogant 17 year old Ran, that is.
"Keep up that long face and I'll smack you right square, bro. I've taught you better than this. Stop doubting everything and believe it'll go well instead. Determination pays off, you know."
"Idiot. You think everyone in the world is capable of chasing a girl their first time? Especially someone like me?"
"Why wouldn't they? Why wouldn’t you? Look, I've made sure that she likes you back. Shion even told her about how you'd waited 2 hours for her to get off work jus’ to walk her home the other day. Trust me, shitty brother, she's definitely into you too."
"Shion did what?" "You heard me."
"And about that, of course everyone is capable, because I did it." Ran proudly flashes a hardcopy of him and a girl hugging with a cheeky grin. The older boy never misses a chance at showing off, especially to his younger brother who is absolutely sick of him. Rindou moves closer to get a proper look and immediately recognises her as the girl in Ran’s class he’s been courting for months. They’re high school sweethearts now? Unbelievable.
He scoffs at the older boy, "you really did it, huh?"
There’s a certain warm and proud feeling swarming in Rindou’s chest as he gapes at the lovesick grin stuck on Ran’s stupid face. It’s what he deserves, Rindou thought. Ran’s been through hell and back trying to court this girl.
Neither young Ran nor young Rindou knows that in 15 years time, Rindou would be calling Ran's high school sweetheart his sister-in-law and stealing recipes and life hacks from.
"Fuck yeah, dude. So like I said, just do it now or you'll miss your chance and regret it for-fuckin'-ever. Also, just for your information, 'cause I'm Haitani Ran and I'm also your big bro and feel the extreme need to tell you," Ran nods his head to the direction behind Rindou. "There's a guy hitting up your missus at the counter."
Rindou has never snapped his head back so fast.
He sees a man who's about a year or two older than him holding a piece of paper and pen to you by the counter, his mouth moving a lot and you’re listening intently.
Rindou immediately regrets not learning how to lip read.
Though he is certain the man must have said something out of line because he sees you adjusting the collar of your uniform and you’re biting your lip nervously. He knows you by your habits and by looking at that, he's sure you’re feeling uncomfortable by the man’s presence. Rindou wants nothing more than to smack the sly smirk off the man’s face right away, so he stands up.
He'll win this fight.
The loud creak of the wooden chair sliding against the marble floor catches your attention and you shake your head at him with a frown.
I’m fine.
Rindou understands that much from your eyes and sits back down again, with Ran who has an arm hooked behind the chair observing he situation with an amused smirk.
The idiot lives for chaos. "Maybe this'll teach him a lesson." Ran murmurs beneath his breath as he observes how Rindou's leg is bouncing anxiously against the marble beneath his shoe, watching you and the man like a hawk.
You have a soft smile plastered on your lips as you bow at him politely, rejecting his advances.
"I'm sorry, sir . . .
But I already have someone."
Lovestruck Rindou witnesses your pretty little face look away from the man to him. You with the pretty glint in your eyes, staring deep into his surprised purple ones and him who is now a blushing mess as he fakes a cough and push his round metal glasses higher onto his nose. You see his reaction and it almost makes you giggle but you remain collected as you try to get the man in front of you to leave the store, telling him you're not interested and you have to get back to work.
And it's when he finally does, all beat and ruined, when Rindou's legs moves over to the counter -- to you -- almost automatically. He stands in front of you and suddenly it’s blank in his mind. His mouth is ajar as he tries to remember what he's came here to say.
(Rindou to this day still argues and swears it was your overwhelming presence and especially your pretty smile that's made him forget his words while he fiddled with the hem of his black turtleneck like a damn loser.)
Come up with something, you idiot. Quick.
"Rindou-kun?" Oh, good fucking gracious. That voice. The sweet voice that will be the absolute end of him.
He musters up everything in him to speak.
" . . . D'ya wanna go out with me? For lunch tomorrow. I’ll pick you up and we’ll go together. Anywhere you want . . . As boyfriend and girlfriend, that is."
You're silent for a minute, and Rindou feels his heart race. It’s hot and humid all of a sudden and he feels like digging a hole and jumping right into it and he doesn't dare look at you and he’s afraid of what's to come. But you call for him again.
"Rindou-kun, please look at me."
The boy wipes his sweaty palms on the dark denim of his Levi’s 501 and chews on his lip. He's so nervous he's certain his mother would be making fun of him when she finds out. Unlike his brother, he’s never been good with girls and has never gone to this extent at courting one. Hell, he’s not even sure if he’s been this nervous before. He’s done loads of illegal things, almost landed his ass in juvie multiple times, fought countless of gangs (both big and small), and none of them could compare to what you’re making him feel right now.
You've got a very, very wide smile ready for him when he finally looks up.
“Ask me again, Rindou."
Get yourself together, prick. Be fair to her.
“Do you wanna be my girlfriend?”
.
.
.
"Okay."
Rindou thought he’d ascended into heaven.
Today, the same young boy who is now 31 in age and an expecting father, grins at the memory. He's glad he took Ran's advice the other day. As stupid as his older brother can be sometimes, Rindou cannot deny that Ran is always helpful when he needs to be. Always there for him. Otherwise, he wouldn't be having your worn out figure sleeping beside him in your shared bed, the beautiful band on your ring finger shining brightly at him as the moonlight shines in through the curtains he’s forgotten to shut before bed.
He stares at you as you sleep peacefully; the steady rise and fall of your chest indicating that you're feeling comfortable again. It's been difficult for you to fall asleep these days, the kicking getting harder and more frequent.
"She's so impatient to come out." You pout sleepily at the father of your child as you place a hand on your bump and rubbing slow circles, trying to get her to calm down in your belly. "Just another month left, my baby."
He eyes your stomach and leans down to press a soft kiss to the skin, suddenly feeling a kick to his lips and he airily chuckles. It’s almost like the baby in your stomach recognises him . . .
Her father.
"Don't kick your mom so much, girl. Be nice to her." Rindou tells his kid in his heart.
Another kick.
Brat.
You start stirring in your sleep. Shit. You're waking up after finally falling asleep and it's all because of the father and daughter that's ganging up on you. Talking together behind your back. Destroying your sleep.
Absolutely foul.
There's a frown on your face as you move around beneath the blanket, trying to get comfortable again when your husband runs his calloused thumb over the crease between your eyebrows, gently coaxing you back to dreamland.
It's then Rindou hears it another time.
"Stop doubting everything and believe it'll go well instead. Determination pays off, you know."
He reminds himself to give Ran a call when he wakes up.
Tumblr media
Rindou has survived the 10 o'clock. It is now 12pm in the afternoon and he's standing in the middle of a fairly new and empty office room with a woman in her early fifties who he recognises as the Operations Manager, Hasegawa Keiko. Everyone calls her Hasegawa-san despite her constant reassurance that simply calling her Keiko is fine.
Rindou directly reports to her now instead of old Kimura. Although being congratulated and trusted deeply by the company, he still feels a bit strange, standing in an office room two floors above his previous one that now has a floor to ceiling view of Tokyo city. He's also been introduced to many new faces that he'll be working with from now on. No more shitty Ito flirting with Ishikawa-san in public and harassing him on going out for drinks or the really irritating habit of the woman clacking her nails on the desk opposite of him, but he supposes he'll adapt sooner or later. He will; Ran told him that he'll be just fine earlier on the phone. He believes in his brother (and you) more than anyone in the world.
"This will be your new office from now on. Feel free to take some time and explore around, make yourself feel comfortable with the environment and so on. And as always, you can ask me if you're unsure about anything. I'll be in my office most of the time down the hall if you have any further questions." The corners of Hasegawa-san's eyes crinkles and Rindou instantly feels more at ease at her warm welcoming. She reminds him a bit of his late mother.
"I'll leave you to it now. Looking forward to working with you, Haitani-san." And with that, she shuts the door behind her, leaving him alone inside.
The silence is overwhelming.
Rindou immediately fishes out his phone in the pocket, dials in the familiar digits he's long memorised and presses the gadget to his ear.
You pick up after the third ring.
"Baby? How'd it go? Are you okay?" He smiles giddily as he pictures the worried expression on your face and you’re probably sitting on the couch watching TV.
(Everything he’d pictured is exactly what you’re doing, by the way. You've also just finished two bowls of plain white rice fresh from the pot without yourself knowing due to how anxious you felt on behalf of him.)
Your husband simply brushes you off. "Whatcha doin'? Are you eating?”
"Answer my question, Haitani!" He laughs at your tone, "take a guess, babe."
"Well, I’on fuckin' know! That's why I'm asking you.”
He thinks of how to put his words into a statement without sounding too overly happy.
"I've got it, you know.”
You have big, red question marks hanging on top of your head as you wait for him to continue on the other line.
"The promotion . . . I've got it."
Tumblr media
Rindou spends his lunch break on the terrace talking to you on the phone. He’s eating the bento you prepared this morning before he left for work. "Finish it, 'kay? The broccoli is expensive." You nagged, knowing how much he despises the said vegetable, but it's included in the new diet he's been keen on trying so he's fine with it. He has you to keep him on track, after all.
He picks up the miserable vegetable with his chopsticks and pushes it into his mouth. Jesus- He closes his eyes as he forces it down the throat.
"Fuck, this is so painful." He coughs when he finally swallows it. You hum from the other line, "what is?"
"The broccoli. Fuckin' hell."
"Sucks to be you. Broccoli's so delicious I don't understand why anyone even hates it. You're weird. Rin."
"Says the person who doesn't eat egg whites."
"Egg whites' got no taste. It should be inedible. It's disgusting."
"And I'm the weird one."
Rindou's been so immersed in talking to you that he doesn't hear the door to the terrace opening and closing. He thought it was just him there, considering everyone else has already went out for lunch and some still remained in their respective offices finishing up paperwork.
He doesn't hear the click of a lighter and cigarette paper burning behind him as he continues to bicker with you on the speaker about why egg whites are delicious and broccolis are not.
"Anyway, I've had 'nuff. I'll be confiscating your watch-Gilmore Girls-with-me rights tonight if you don't finish your broccoli. Your daughter agrees wit' me."
"You know damn well I never miss an episode.”
"Sure, we'll see. I've got clothes to fold now, mostly yours. Bye, weirdo."
"Have I told'cha how noisy you are, mama?" He complains and you laugh and hang up after Rindou reminding you for the third time to take your daily vitamins and wear your grippy socks. That's when the eavesdropper decides to make their presence known.
Rindou nearly chokes on his food when he hears a deep voice speaking behind him. "Your wife?"
He turns around with a mouthful of rice as he takes in the situation. Oh, it's him.
The man who he recognises as Sakoda-san is sitting on a chair with his hands tucked into his pockets, a burning cigarette hanging from his lips.
The same guy who frequents a whorehouse all the way in Kabukichō. Yeah, that one. The one who keeps a polaroid of his children in his wallet on the bedside table while he fucks other women in their rooms, telling them he loves them when he doesn't even mean it.
Saying things for the sake of saying it; Rindou doesn't like that.
He decides to keep his distance as he swiftly finishes the food in his mouth. Of course, he didn't forget his manners.
"Yeah, my wife."
Sakoda-san observes Rindou from the corner of his eyes. How the young man is feeding himself spoon after spoon of the bento, especially the broccoli while he scrolls through his phone, catching up on the latest news and watching random videos that appear on his feed.
"How far along is she?"
Rindou doesn't feel like replying. He's always been a private man who keeps matters to himself, but he thinks it's not fair to the baby in your stomach, his daughter, who he feels her existence should be made known. She's not a secret and shouldn't be kept as one.
"Roughly 8 months. She's due in September."
"A girl?" "Yeah." "What's her name?" "Sakiya." "Sakiya for cherry blossom?" "Yeah." "Your wife picked it?" "We picked it."
Okay, he decides this is as far as he'll go. He starts clipping on the lid of the bento and wiping his mouth with a napkin, ready to leave the terrace (of course he doesn't make it obvious) but Sakoda-san speaks again.
"That's nice. I have a girl too. She's 11 this year. And also a boy who's turning 6." Rindou simply nods and wraps up the bento in the fancy cloth you bought at a bazaar in Harajuku. "Would you like to see a photo of them?"
He stops moving. Rindou thinks of all the options, and the one he feels like picking the most is saying no and leaving.
But he shouldn't be cruel. As much as the man he's talking to is a bad person, a bad father, a bad husband, the children have done nothing wrong. He shouldn't be cruel. It's just an innocent picture of two young children.
"Sure." He agrees out of courtesy and Sakoda-san instantly slips out the polaroid from his wallet and hands it to him. Rindou takes and looks at it carefully. They don't look too happy in it.
"I always keep this with me. Gives me a little push in life, you know?"
A little push? To do all those things to his family?
Rindou is instantly reminded of the many ultrasounds of his daughter attached on the fridge with cute bunny magnets that he glances at every day when grabbing milk from the fridge before leaving for work. He figures that a little push in life contains different meanings to both him and Sakoda-san. It makes him feel sick to the core.
"Nice photo." He hands it back to the man after he finishes looking and stands. Rindou grabs the bento by the handle and is ready to leave, when Sakoda-san stops him once again.
"How good of a drinker are you?"
"I don't drink." Liar. He was fucking Haitani Rindou of Roppongi, for fuck's sake.
"Smoke?"
"I quit."
"Why?"
"Wife's pregnant."
The older man laughs at his blunt responses.
"Your life must be pretty boring, huh?"
Rindou doesn't look back at him when he mutters these words.
"At least I am not you."
Tumblr media
It is now past lunch break and back to working hours that Rindou finds himself standing outside of Hasegawa-san's office. He has been for the past few minutes now, actually. Thinking about what to say and what to do; if she’ll approve of him or get pissed off.
He doesn't have the courage to go in.
Rindou had contemplated on keeping the topic away from his boss for now and simply bring it up another time, but he knows that it's not possible; it's only a short time away to when you're due and it’s also not fair to you either.
Finally, after making up his mind, he musters up all the courage in him to knock on the door. He waits for the faint come in and twists the knob.
"I was wondering when you'd come in."
Shit, it was that obvious?
Hasegawa-san closes the file she was working on and leans back in her chair while gesturing to the one in front of her desk. "Have a seat, Haitani-san." He immediately follows with a creak echoing in the room, not wanting to waste more time than he already has.
"You're nervous." It's not a question, it's a statement. And Rindou knows it as he feels himself growing hot and he coughs and sits up straight. "Sorry."
"What is it you're here for?" Hasegawa-san breaks the silence first. Rindou looks down at the half crumpled envelope in his hand, thinking a little before laying it flat on her table and pushing it forward with the letters on it facing her.
She stares at the envelope before swiftly opening it up to read. Rindou watches intently as her eyes go over the letter word by word, before finally folding the paper back to it's original form and laying it down on her desk.
You don't know about this, Rindou reminds himself as he waits patiently for Hasegawa-san to process his letter. You don't know about this, so he has to be serious. He has to be straightforward and sure. He can't be leaving you alone at this time because he doesn't have the balls to request for something that will mean the world to you.
The woman leans on her elbows and looks at him with an unreadable expression. He can't tell what’s going through her mind right now. Is it good or bad? Oh, she's squinting her eyes now. Do I need to say something? Fuck, this is so confusing.
"So, according to your letter, you will be away for . . . 2 months? That's a pretty long time. And it's your first day in this department."
The atmosphere is intense.
Thinking that he needs to speak up, Rindou pulls himself together and starts explaining to his boss.
"I know it may seem unacceptable, considering that I am just only in charge of this position. I am also aware that there will be no one to take over my duties when I'm away due to a short of hands, but my family is important and-"
"-tell me, Rindou." She cuts him off with a stern look. "How much does your wife matter to you?"
He doesn't hesitate in answering. It's immediate. Quick. Determined. Sure.
"Everything."
The tension in Hasegawa-san’s face loosens and she smiles. "Then there's no reason to further explain yourself. It’s all written clearly in your letter and letting you go to be with her is what a decent human being should do.” She pauses, “I wish my husband did that for me as well. I'm a woman too, so I know how it must feel to want her husband with her at this period of time.”
To say Rindou is shocked is an understatement. A higher up that doesn't ask questions? Doesn't make you wonder if your decision was right or wrong? Doesn't shame you for having different priorities?
No. It's not because she's being soft. It’s not because she’s biased. It's not because she doesn't care.
It's because she understands.
"I wish for her a safe delivery. Is it a boy or a girl?"
"A girl."
"How nice. I have three sons myself, I wish I had a girl too, to accompany me and so on. Boys grow up a lot faster than girls do." She laughs.
Rindou places both his hands on his knees as he lets out a breath of relief. Other than the meeting earlier today, letting his boss know that he will need to take some time off is also what's been clouding his mind for the entire week.
Your due date has clashed with the moment his work became much more serious and now he has to pick between the two: to stay with work and continue to fulfil his new duties and responsibilities while pouring his heart and soul into his shitty company or to stay at home and take care of you when everyone else is busy taking care of the baby.
And the answer is clear, actually. He'll never let anything, especially work, get between him and his family, and he's never let himself be placed in a position where he feels obliged to choose between the two. If he is, then you and the baby will always come first, no matter what, and he'll quit his job if he has to.
Letting Hasegawa-san know about this is just for him to find out if he has to quit his job to stay with you or not.
And luckily, he doesn't have to. Because Hasegawa-san is an angel in disguise and he feels so terribly relieved. God, he misses you so much. He really wants to go home and kiss you right now.
"You can go now. I'll sort things out with HR. You should take the rest of the day off, too. Go celebrate with your wife and spend some time with her. And please don't worry about work, I'll have a substitute soon for your position."
"Thank you, Hasegawa-san."
"You're welcome, and Keiko is fine. You remind me a lot of my second boy, by the way."
And you remind me of my mother.
"I'll see you soon, son. Take good care of your wife, yeah?"
"I will, Keiko-san."
Tumblr media
You are in the midst of hanging up his clothes in the closet when Rindou arrives home.
"ただいま."
"Huh? Why are you home at this hour?"
He kisses your forehead and takes the hanger from your hand. He tells you to sit down and you listen and . . . Great. He's taken charge of hanging his own clothes now.
Rindou is always doing the chores whenever he can now that you're too pregnant to move around even when you insist to him that you can do it. "I like to move around, Rin. 'Don't like to sit around 'n daydream all day, it's boring."
"Boss' let me off early." He states nonchalantly and you raise a brow. You see your husband organising his clothes by colour and you suddenly feel some kind of warmth blossoming in your chest. Much to you and his brother's demise, Rindou used to be the kind of person who doesn't hang his clothes and just throws it in his closet when he's done with the laundry but that changed drastically when he met you. You always nagged at him to hang them up and sort it out by colour, by shirt category, so it'll look more organised and neat when he opens the closet.
"Why?" "I'll tell you later." "Why can't you tell me now?" "It's a surprise." "Huh?"
You're so confused.
Rindou is facing you now. "Have you showered?" You shake your head and remove the claw clip from your hair, scratching at your scalp. "Not yet. I needa' wash my hair, though. It's kinda itchy."
"I'll wash for you." He leads you to the bathroom slowly and helps you into the shower when you both are stripped off your clothes.
You're standing on the non-slip mat and adjusting the water temperature when Rindou joins you in the shower. "I'll take you out tonight. What'chu feel like eating?" He rinses through your body and you hum softly as he starts lathering shampoo on your hair. "Dunno, but I don't feel like eating something spicy, though."
"You want western?" You let out a sigh when he scratches at the itchy spot just above your ear, "sure."
The both of you don't speak after that, choosing to relish in the comfort of the warm water running down your bodies but you're suddenly reminded of it. Cheers to him for managing to butter you up successfully.
"Are you gonna tell me why you're home early?"
"'Told'cha, boss' let me off early." "Yeah, but why?" "I'll tell you over dinner." "You're pissing me off, Rin. Tell me now."
Okay, you're getting mad.
He's grown used to your mood swings over the course of this pregnancy and after so long, he's figured that the best way to deal with it is just by simply accepting it. It'll go away eventually and he should be patient with you and your emotions. After all, it's harder on you.
But he can't deny that it's a bit funny, though. You're getting mad at him because he won't tell you the actual reason he's home early while he's busy washing your hair yet you're purring whenever he scratches at a certain spot on your scalp.
"I got some time off. You know, when you give birth then I'll get to be home 'n take care of you 'n 'Kiya."
"Oh, so you're a romantic."
"Of course."
You feel so happy after listening to him that you turn around (slowly) and pull him down for a quick smooch. "Here's one from 'Kiya." And you kiss him harder this time, "'n one from me."
Rindou is dumbfounded when he looks at you who has literal hearts in your eyes as you hold his face in your hands like he's fragile porcelain, like he's some fine china. You run your thumbs over his cheekbones and pinch his cheeks.
(Doing that made you remember the times you liked to pinch his chubbier ones when you were still teenagers.)
"'Love you."
You with soapsuds in your hair proclaiming your love to your husband for the nth time over the course of 15 years (before and after marriage) and him with his fingers tangled in your hair as he continues scrubbing.
He smirks handsomely, "you tryna skimp out on the kisses, mama? I know my daughter ain't so stingy with 'em," he removes his hands to touch on your bump, "gimme one more, baby."
A kick.
"She jus' said no."
"She said yes, you brat."
You hold him by the neck and softly inhale the scent of his musky body wash that you've grown to find comfort in. He's so endearing that you don't want to let go.
You never want to let go of him.
Rindou lands two strong and assuring hands on your waist and keeps you close to his body.
"Quit sniffin' me, I still need to wash your hair."
You suck on his neck and he squeezes your ass in return. It's nothing sexual or anything, you just like sucking on his neck randomly and Rindou never passes up the chance to grip on your fat.
Some of the foam from your hair has gotten to his face and he simply washes it off with water, though you still don't let go of him.
"Never change your body wash, babe."
"I know . . . You tell me that every day."
Tumblr media
Rindou is helping you pick out your outfit as you sit by the dresser doing your makeup. He's holding two dresses in his hands,
"Do you wanna wear this?”
Option A: a long red floral one that he bought for you while away at a business trip in Kyoto. He saw it while passing by and immediately stopped the car to cop it from the old lady. It wasn't for a special occasion or anything, he'd just seen it and felt like buying it for you and you haven’t got the chance to wear it until today.
"Or this?"
Option B: a shorter navy blue sundress that is obviously a little too tight and small for you right now.
“Baby, please. You know I can’t fit in that.” “I know. ‘Was just foolin’ wit’ ya.” “I’ll bite you.” “Go 'head.”
He lays the red dress down flat on your bed and plops down beside it, waiting for you to get ready. “I’m still halfway done wit’ the nursery. I’ll have more time to work on it now that I’m home.” Rindou says and you finish clipping on your right earring. “It’s just the crib and rocking chair left now, right?” You’re referring to the unfinished pieces of furniture that’s sitting in the nursery room next door and he hums as a response.
"Are we finished buying Sakiya's stuff? We can get the remaining later when we’re out. Settle it sooner, you know?"
“No, we’re finished. Ran ‘n Miwa have already bought tons for us.” You think of your sister-in-law who seems more excited for Sakiya's arrival than you, constantly buying you gifts like clothes and toys for the baby whenever she and Ran comes over for dinner together. “Auntie Miwa and Uncle Ran are so excited to see you, girl.” Miwa squeals as she touches your baby bump, feeling a soft kick to her palm.
“Ran is helping us save money now?” You laugh at his joke, “he seems enthusiastic to do so.”
In another city all the way in Ikebukuro is Ran in his home office sneezing with Miwa standing behind him massaging his back. “You’ve got a cold too? Everyone around me is getting a cold and it isn’t even flu season. I’ll have to stay away from you now, Ran. I don’t like getting sick.” She blabbers along and Ran simply hushes her down with a hand to her mouth. Miwa licks it and he retracts his hand away with a scowl, “you’re nasty, love. And you talk too much.” Miwa places a hand on her hip as she looks down at her husband like a mother scolding her son, “I’m not the one sneezing and at a risk of falling sick.” “It’s just Rindou talkin’ ‘bout me, wifey. I know it, I can feel it.”
Back home in Ueno is Rindou sneezing again. “Stupid Ran, he talkin’ ‘bout me too? Asshole.” “Huh?”
Neither Ran nor Rindou stops sneezing for the next five minutes and you and Miwa are left confused, wondering about just how strong these two brothers’ telepathy senses are.
You are actively ignoring your husband’s mumbling and cursing about stupid Ran this, stupid Ran that while combing your hair and Miwa isn’t even in the room with Ran anymore.
“Stop sneezing, Rin.” “Then tell Ran to stop talkin’ ‘bout me.” “Shaddap, you’re just makin’ things up.” “‘M not.”
While blowing his nose on a tissue you handed him, Rindou hears you humming along to a song playing on the radio and he instantly feels at peace.
He's home, you're sitting pretty on the stool, you'll be enjoying Western food together at a fancy restaurant downtown later tonight, and Sakiya will be here anytime soon.
Everything is calm and fine,
and Rindou thinks he will never be giving up this serenity for the world. He'll burn it up if he has to; if it guarantees his family forever peace and happiness.
There can only be his family.
His love. His heart.

So obvs, it's studio ghibli, it's gna be some of the prettiest stuff you've ever seen. So many scenery frames made me think "I'm gna scour the internet for them and repaint them as art practice. It resembles smudgy oil paintings rather than studio ghibli's gouache style (see spirited away, Totoro) but it's honestly beautiful nonetheless, and seeing it on the big screen made me feel like I was in the movie. There's even a stone passage that looks like the one from Coraline. The animation works so smoothly to make the film an overall wonderful immersive experience.
The character design was so good. You have your classic ghibli, countryside, apron wearing girl. Your boy with spiky hair. And probably the best addition of a butch seafarer, Kiriko, dubbed by Florence Pugh (oh my goodness I am too gay for this). The grannies were so inexplicably lovely and visually distinct I just want a hug from them. The wizard (Mark Hamill having this otherworldly yet grounded design and amazing hair. The heron was oddly grotesque without being scary (this is such a gift only japanese have.) and his various designs fluctuate along with the story. I was surprisingly intrigued by the fact that even in crane form, he had human teeth. And ofc THE WARAWARA.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
GOSH THEY ARE ADORABLE I LOVE THESE DAMN TAPIOCA PEARL LOOKING THINGS THEY HAD ME SQUEALING IN THE THEATRE EITH HOW CUTE THEY ARE.
The score is beautiful and I dare say that it's on par, maybe even better than the Spiderverse score (and that's REALLY HIGH praise coming from me, I love the Spiderverse score to the point where it's on my Spotify wrapped.) I loved how the use of motifs, especially in relation to magic in the film. And definitely need to go give it more listens. 11/10 would recommend listening to it even outside of the film, it's just that great, give it a Grammy or smth.
Humor in this film is hilarious without being corny. It's very on the nose, what's currently happening in the scene humor. Characters (won't say who) also have amazing dynamics that supply a lot of humor for the film. Obviously we have that last snippet from the trailer and I'll give you this out of context "Mahito's turned into a parakeet"
The story is very easy to follow. The first half of the story is very grounded. And even in the second fantastical half, the visuals and little sprinkles of just the right amount of information help to guide us through the amazing fantastical world. Nothing ever feels too spoonfed to the audience or too overwhelming.
Spoilers below the cut
Character was great too. The main cast each have a very touching emotional aspect and nothing is what it seems, not from the trailers and not even within the show. Characters go on journeys you never could've expected from the beginning of the show. Such as the heron, who I genuinely thought from trailers was gna be the bad guy but turned into a genuine, squat goblin companion. And the parakeet king goddamn I thought he was gna be a good guy with his "we must protect this world" gig, not some giant cannibalistic parakeet with a surprising penchant for sneaking. Anyway, I especially loved how we meet characters almost multiple times with how we're introduced to different versions of them. Kiriko>>>
The moral of this story had me confused ngl, but I'm fcking dumb and need to go read some analysis so ignore this. The main message I got was that "Life is shit. But it's worth living and I can make it better for myself. Through friends, I don't have to be alone through it all" which made me tear up ngl since I've been struggling with life this year and seeing how our boy Mahito went from being a closed off lil squat to that *cries*. Personally I interpreted the great granduncle and his blocks as seeing what's wrong with the system the older generation has built, and demanding more from it/straight up turning away from it. Also Mahito learning to let go of his mom. The pelicans wanting the best for their children and not always liking what they have to do for survival as a link to war soldiers @hamable . I also read from @simplysparrow14 and @rockpaperimpala the film is also Miyazaki coming to the realisation that 'studio ghibli will be his legacy and it will be put to rest, it won't be the same if continued without him and that's okay' and ow I just got hit in the feels.
To summarize the boy and the heron excelled, slaps, is show stopping, brilliant, awesome, a true work of art and soul and 11000/10 go watch it ON THE BIG SCREEN I am not joking.

I'll Spend the Rest of My Life Making It Up To You Series
A/N: Part 9! Well - it's over, I hope you like the ending :)
Warnings: Have been the same throughout the story :)
Prev Part // Series Masterlist // Masterlist
Tumblr media
After a long talk with Aaron when you got home from your in-laws house, you felt better. He kept telling you it wasn’t your fault and as long as you were okay with it, they could work something out where Bob and Carol would still be allowed to see Mason, just as long as Jake wasn’t around.
You didn’t realize how fast your court date would come. A lot of prep, a lot of crying, a lot of hugs from Aaron. A lot of comfort from Mason and Jack.
Sleepless nights. Lots of them.
You were up at 2am, sitting on the couch, watching a movie, not able to sleep. Court was the next morning at 9am. Luckily not a 7 or 8am start, so you could have time to be with the boys before you had to go relieve the traumatic events of your life.
While sitting on the couch, you didn’t expect Aaron to come out of his room, wide awake.
“Did I wake you up?”
“No. God, no. I just couldn’t sleep.”
You looked at him and chuckled. You moved the blanket off of you and said, “I couldn’t sleep either. Come sit, we can watch a movie together.”
You were falling in love with Aaron. You never really fell out of love with him to begin with. You had to on the outside, but deep within, you knew your heart always belonged with Aaron. Maybe he felt the same, maybe he didn’t. If he hadn’t left you, there wouldn’t be Haley, and there certainly wouldn’t be Jack. He loves him with everything he has.
You were taken out of your thoughts as his body slid right next to yours, the blanket finding it’s way over both of you. He was your comfort person. You think he always was. Aaron and of course, Mason. They were your comfort people. And now, you’d be adding Jack into that mix of comfort people.
At one point in your life, you did find comfort in Jake. But that was only a short amount of time 10 years ago. You found comfort in Jake when you were upset about your broken engagement with Aaron. Jake should have just been a rebound, a hookup at most, how’d you let it get this bad?
“Y/n, you know none of this is your fault. Right? Whatever happens in court, they’re gonna blame you, they’re gonna make you seem like you could’ve gotten out.”
“Could’ve gotten out? Jesus Christ, Aaron! He would have killed me! I think he still would if we weren’t gonna be in court surrounded by cops and the FBI. He almost beat me to death with my son in the house.”
You started crying. You were furious, upset. As you went to pull away from Aaron, he pulled you closer next to him, giving you a tight squeeze.
“Hey, shh, shh. It’s okay. I’m not saying you could’ve left because I know what he did to you. I read the letters, y/n, trust me. I know. I believe you, hell, I saw what he did to you. I’m just telling you, I worked in court, I handled cases like this, I’ve been in the FBI for too long to know that victims of domestic abuse sometimes don’t always win in court and they end up dying 2 weeks later because their abuser kills them. I’m sure as hell not letting that happen. Whatever happens, we will adjust. If he gets off free, then we’ll play it by year.”
“Try and get some sleep. Mason will be up in a bit for a bottle, you’ll need to get some sleep for court. Come on. Just close your eyes.”
You didn’t realize that sleeping with Aaron, even on his couch, would be a comfy place for you, some where you’d get your best sleep since the last time you slept with him.
You awoke the next morning to the smell of breakfast and kids laughing. When you walked into the kitchen, you saw Aaron sitting with the kids at the table, he was feeding Mason and Jack was eating breakfast.
“Good morning!”
Jack got up from his spot to hug you and you smiled at Aaron.
“Eat, then get dressed. Jessica’s coming to pick up Jack in 15 minutes. I already showered this morning when I got up with Mason.”
“Did you take the baby monitor from me last night?”
“I did. I wanted you to sleep. Mason got up at 7, I was already up by then.”
Mason wasn’t his son and Aaron was being an amazing father to Mason than Jake ever was. You were lucky you met Aaron all those years ago. You didn’t think you’d be in this situation, you were sure you were going to marry Aaron, but life works in mysterious ways.
After a morning with the boys, saying goodbye to Jack, getting Mason ready then getting yourself dressed, then making sure Aaron had some time to get dressed as well. It was weird to see him dressed for court, especially when it was your case that he was going to court for.
He grabbed the diaper bag and he said, “Let’s go.” As you all got in Aaron’s car, you couldn’t help but have a silent car ride there. Just the sound of Mason’s soft snores, Aaron’s hand finding yours in your lap.
Everything went by in slow motion. Walking into the court house, meeting with your attorney, seeing Aaron’s team there. Some of them going to testify. Walking into the courtroom, seeing Jake.
It felt good knowing today was the day you were going to be getting out of this relationship for good. At least you were hoping you would. You saw Jake sitting with his lawyer. He saw you walke in with Mason and Aaron and your lawyer. Part of you felt bad that Jake couldn’t hold his son, but he had a chance to turn his life around with you. He could have gotten better, you think part of him could. Wait, what were you thinking?. You keep going back to him, you shouldn’t. He hurt you.
Aaron took Mason out of the carrier and you said, “He’s got extra diapers in there, he really likes his strawberry and banana puffs.”
“Y/n/n, I know. You’ve been living with me for a month. I got this. Just worry about the trial. We’re right behind you.”
You gave him a soft smile and whispered a thank you. You kissed Mason and then you took a seat at the table.
Court doesn’t appear like it does in TV shows or movies. There are much more boring moments, you see everything. The judge introducing himself, him talking to the members of the jury about what their roles are, the attorneys introducing themselves, who they are defending, the whole nine yards.
You watched people go up one by one testifying for you. Then you went up to the stand, and that’s where the madness begins. Putting the victim on the stand, no, not victim, survivor.
Brian said, “On the stand is Ms. Y/n Y/l/n,”
“Please. Call me Y/n.”
“Y/n, is it true you wrote a series of letters to your past lover, Aaron Hotchner, when you were engaged and married to Jake?”
“Yes, but those were letters I never sent. It was my escape from reality.”
“I’d like to take look at this letter.”
They started reading the letters from when you first met Jake, to when you got engaged to your wedding night. You watched how the jury was reacting. There was one woman who was silently crying. You saw her wipe her cheek. She wasn’t crying enough for everyone to notice, but it was enough to know that what you went through did hurt outsiders looking in.
Brian handed you a letter and said, “Y/n, why don’t you read this one.”
You held the letter and began reading,
“Aaron, Well, I don’t know how to say it so I’m just going to say it. I’m pregnant. Yep. I just found out while in my bathroom. I hadn’t felt good these past couple of days, so I decided to take a pregnancy test. You know I’ve always wanted children, but I never wanted children with Jake. I wanted to have children with you. I don’t even know if Jake wants children. Abortion is an option, but I don’t want to get one. I’ve always wanted children and to be a mom and this might be my only chance. The thing is, when this baby was conceived, it wasn’t even conceived out of love. Jake was mad at me. He basically fucked his fustrations out on me. I just have to lay there like I’m some type of sex doll, and I hate it. If I were to tell him no, he’d hit me. So I have to live with this. I’m sorry I hadn’t seen you in a while, it was for the best. Well, for you. Maybe not for me. I’m hoping that when I tell Jake, he’ll be so happy. Maybe he’ll turn around, no longer hit me or abuse me. I hope you and Jack are doing well.”
Aaron was sat with Mason on the benches behind the table where you were supposed to be seated. Derek and Dave both on his sides. His friend had stood up while you were on the stand and said, “Your honor, right now, we’d like to show the court and members of the jury direct evidence of the final piece of physical abuse that Ms. Y/L/N sustained from Jake.”
You looked at Aaron, eyes looking back at yours. He didn’t know what was going on. He thought you gave him every piece of evidence you had against Jake. He looked at you, what hurt you the most was that you never showed this to Aaron. You weren’t about to cry because of the trauma you endured with Jake, but you were getting ready to cry because you saw that Aaron’s heart was gonna break.
Your attorney said, “People of the court, members of the court, people of the jury, I do want to give you a warning that what you see in this video is a heinous act. There will be blood, yelling, etc.”
Dave whispered to Aaron, “Why don’t you go outside and take Mason for a walk.”
“No. No. I’m not leaving her alone. It’s fine. I can control myself. I’m a profiler, Dave. I’m a Unit Chief. I can control my emotions.”
Aaron was cut off by the sound of your voice coming from the video.
The video had shown you downstairs coming to greet Jake. You had secretly propped your phone up on the counter, hoping to catch him in the act of one of the most disgusting things a man could do to a woman. You wanted to catch him, that way it wouldn’t be hear-say. You know since you’ve seen shows about it, but you also know because your father-in-law was a successful attorney.
Watching the video up at the stand, you couldn’t help but flinch when the first hit happened. It all comes flooding back to you at once. You had gone to see Aaron. Came back home and Jake flipped.
When you looked over at Aaron, you saw the tears rolling down his face. How he held Mason tighter, shielding Mason into his chest so Mason couldn’t see. You’ve never seen Aaron this heartbroken before. You hated that you couldn’t hold him in your arms and tell him you’re okay.
You’d lie to Aaron and tell him that it didn’t hurt, even when it was one of the most painful things you went through. This was one video of abuse, but you had been abused for 10 years prior to this one video clip.
Aaron whispered to Dave, “I could kill him right now. Dave, this is the night I picked her up. She called me after this. Had I known he would’ve done this.”
“Relax, Aaron. Relax.”
Dave put his hand on Aaron’s back, telling him to calm down, don’t make a scene with a baby in his hands.
Looking at Aaron’s face, you saw the anger, the hurt, the guilt, sadness. You saw every emotion he was going through. You didn’t miss the way he wiped his tears away and you certainly didn’t miss the way that your son had saw him upset and leaned into him, and patted his stomach.
Mason was amazing, he always knew how to calm people down, even if he was just a baby. He was a great profiler, maybe deep down, the universe needed Mason to be like Aaron and you. Maybe Mason was the the baby you and Aaron were meant to have all those years ago.
You decided to shake the thought. You couldn’t think about them right now. You had a case to win. You wanted justice to be served. You wanted to show everyone who is in an abusive relationship that it’s okay to get out.
Aaron watched as the video ended, you quickly grabbing the phone, catching a glimpse of your face and the blood running down. He made eye contact with you, whispering an “I’m sorry.”
Brian said, “That’s all, your honor.”
Jake’s lawyer stood up and said, “We have no questions, your honor.”
The judge told you that you could step down and you walked back to sit down at your seat. The judge dismissed the jury and you walked over to hug Aaron.
Rossi said, “We got sandwiches in a break room. Come on, let’s go have lunch.”
“I’m going to go change Mason and freshen up in the bathroom, okay?”
You took Mason from Aaron and walked into the bathroom, you changed his diaper and fixed your make up. Walking out, you saw Jake.
“Y/n, please. Let them drop the charges. I’m gonna change. I’ve started going to therapy. I want to raise our son. Look how big he’s gotten.”
“No Jake, you had 10 years to change, and you didn’t. It only got worse.”
Aaron said, “Rossi, the last time he hit her.”
“Um. Aaron, I think we got bigger problems right now.”
Rossi nodded his head towards where you were and Aaron started walking towards you, Jake, and Mason. Rossi following right behind him.
“You’re not supposed to talk to her.”
“Aaron Hotchner. What a man. This is the guy who left you?”
“Jake, just drop it. Go with your lawyer, I’m going with mine.”
Jake stepped closer and said, “Is she as good in bed as when you first had her? I worked her open for you, turned her into a whore.”
“Don’t speak about her like that.”
“You know, you won. You got her back, you get my son, you won.”
“Good, because you never deserved her. You never deserved her love, affection, for her to be the mother of your child. You never deserved for her to even look at you. She trusted you and you hurt her. You’re a monster and I’m glad your son isn’t going to be around you.”
Jake took a step back and you walked over to Aaron. You started to pull Aaron towards Rossi and Aaron stopped.
“You know, I didn’t deserve to win either, I broke her heart and me breaking her heart led her to you. And you put her through so much hell, Jake. But this wouldn’t have happened if it wasn’t for me. But I’m damn sure gonna spend the rest of my life making it up to her and fixing what you broke. So you know what, I’m glad I won. I’m gonna protect her and Mason from monsters like you.”
Aaron put his hand on your back and you guys walked into the break room. Aaron’s team was playing with Mason and you just sat with him on the couch. Taking everything in. How did Aaron say he didn’t deserve you? Why the hell would Jake even approach Aaron.
There was a knock on the door, Brian came in and said, “The jury has made a decision.”
“That’s good, right Aar?”
“That’s quick for a jury. Hopefully it is good.”
As everyone got seated back in the courthouse, they went through the usual spiel that you watch on TV shows. The first juror stands and responds back to the judge. Here it is, the verdict.
“We find the defendant, guilty, on all counts your honor.”
You began to cry. You had won. This battle was over. You’ve won custody of Mason, Jake was going to jail, he would never touch another girl like what he put you through again.
You hugged Brian and then hugged Aaron and Mason. Aaron kissed your cheek and you took Mason. You told Brian you wanted to see Jake before they took him away.
You walked over to Jake’s table with Mason and Jake said, “I’m sorry for what I did to you Y/n, you didn’t deserve any of it. I know you’re going to be a great mom to Mason. You already are. And Aaron, I can see why you were still in love with him when we first met in that bar 11 years ago. He loves you, don’t let him go. You deserve him after what I did to you. I’m sorry. Can I-can I kiss my son goodbye?”
You looked over at Aaron and he was watching you. You told Jake to sit down and you walked next to him and placed Mason in his arms. Aaron got closer to where you were standing and Rossi pulled him back. Rossi said, “She’s got this Aaron. Let her do this. Let her get some closure.”
“Goodbye Mason, Be good. You’re very lucky to have an amazing mom. Very lucky to have a good dad from here on out.”
Jake kissed Mason on his head and you took Mason back. “Goodbye Jake.”
You walked away. Closing that chapter of your life, opening the next with Aaron. As you went home that evening, Aaron inviting the team over for dinner, letting the kids all hang out, you were cuddled into Aaron.
Penelope said, “So, now that this is all over, does this mean you two are getting back together again?”
Aaron said, “We’re not in a rush, whatever happens, happens.”
After everyone had gone home, Jack gone to sleepover with Henry at JJ’s house, Mason put to bed, you sat in front of Aaron’s fire place with him. The soft glow of the fire going with the lights you had hung up.
“I’m proud of you, for ending the cycle of abuse. I’m sorry I broke your heart all those years ago, I was scared. I was scared of marrying my best friend, having children with her, and growing old with her. I knew all your deepest darkest secrets. I knew your biggest insecurities and I treated you like shit. You didn’t deserve that, y/n. I am so, so sorry.”
“Did you really mean what you said to Jake? That you didn’t deserve to win?”
“Yeah, because I didn’t. Jake nor I didn’t deserve you.”
“No, you deserve me because I deserve you. I don’t know any other man in this world that would drop everything he had going on in his life to help an ex-fiance. You let me move into an apartment with my 6 month old son at the time.”
“I told you I was going to spend the rest of my life making it up to you. I meant it.”
You leaned into Aaron for a kiss. His hand cupping your face. It was a soft, beautiful kiss. It wasn’t long before you and him found yourself stripping your clothes and mkaing love right in front of the fire place. The last time you had made love instead of had sex had been two weeks before your engagement had ended. It was your anniversary with Aaron. There was something meaningful with Aaron, and you had it even after all these years.
*3 months later*
Things were great. You had a successful teaching job, Mason was thriving, Jack was a great son, and Aaron was amazing. Your little family was great. Aaron wasn’t officially your husband but you were all living together. You and Aaron bought a beautiful house, Derek helped renovate it to make it your dream home.
You were celebrating Mason’s birthday. He was a year old. It was scary to think that just a year ago, you were in an abusive relationship, giving birth to a baby, alone. Now, you were surrounded by Aaron and Jack and amazing friends and family. What you never thought about was how Mason’s birthday was the day that you wanted to marry Aaron all those years ago.
You never thought about it until Aaron brought it up to you last month. Mason took very well to Aaron, started calling him dada. It brought tears to Aaron’s eyes, he never knew that Mason and you could fill the void in his heart when Haley passed and when he left you. Jack was amazing and he loved Jack so much, but there was something about adding another child, one that wasn’t biologically his, into the mix.
Aaron said, “If you’ll clean up, I’ll go get him cleaned up and into his PJs?”
“Sounds good, Aar.”
You watched him walk away and upstairs with Mason. Jack helped you clean up. He was such a great helper with Mason. He was an amazing big brother. You were hoping you could make him a big brother to more siblings, but that would come later down the road, only if Aaron wanted more.
Rossi said, “There’s my baby boy! Look how cute he looks.”
Rossi read his shirt and Mason said, “Mama!”
You turned around and Aaron was walking behind Mason. You knelt to the floor to hug Mason and Mason pointed to his shirt.
“Will you marry, Daddy?”
You looked up at Aaron and watched as he knelt down to the ground. You held Mason by you and then Jack came to yourside. You were with Aaron and he held out an engagement ring.
“We’ve been through a lot Y/n, in 20 years, more than anyone else has been through. I’m asking you to marry me, but I’m in no rush to have the big white wedding. I want you to be Mrs. Hotchner. I wanted you to be that 20 years ago, but I was a coward because you were a powerful woman, knowing what you want. I should have stuck with you. You went through hell and back and hell and back just to get where we are today. Let me make it up to you for the rest of my life. I love you, Jack loves you, so, will you marry me?”
“Absolutely I will.”
Aaron slipped the ring on your finger and you put your hands on his face. Pulling him into a kiss. Jack hugged you and Mason hugged him. Your little family was complete. You were so proud of getting out of your relationship with Jake. You and Mason deserved a happy life with Jack and Aaron. You were so proud that this was the outcome you had.
If there’s ever a doubt in your mind that you deserve better, you do, and you go find it.

WIBTA if I posted my art from a zine early?
I (23nb) joined a zine for a semi obscure 2000s manga/anime as a page artist with two of my friends. I enjoy this media but I don't really consider myself in the fandom, I only joined because one of my aforementioned friends is a huge fan of it and the other friend is also a casual enjoyer and we thought it would be fun if we all did a zine together.
However.
Most zines have a timeline of around 9-10 months from beginning to publishing but this one's been in production for almost 2 years. I've been in a few zines and this one has the worst organization I've ever seen in any project. The timeline on the discord only covered the first 5 months and had no estimate for how long the production would be, but a year and a half for publishing is pretty unheard of. The only check-in for progress that I remember didn't even require sending in your piece, you just had to say if you were finished or not and only a handful of the 30ish people on the discord responded lmao. Both of my friends ghosted at this point and the Singular mod (there might be two mods. I can't really tell) didn't dm them to see if they still wanted to participate or anything. Since there is only one person doing everything me and a few others have asked if they need any help and every time the mod(s) say that they're fine. every month or two someone will ask how the production is going and the mod will answer, and then another month goes by and the cycle repeats. I think the zine has finally gone into its “preorder interest check” stage (so not the actual preorder) but judging by how long everything takes i estimate that it'll be another 2 months at least before it actually goes into preorder. Its also never been clear if this is a free zine or if the sales will be donated to charity or distributed among the contributors. Since there's Allegedly going to be a physical copy it's gotta at least use the sales money to pay for production and shipping costs, but I have no idea if I'll be compensated with a physical copy or any money, especially if I do the thing that I might be TA for.
So here's my actual question. WIBTA if I posted the art I made for the zine before the mod says it's ok to do so? A big part of zine etiquette is that you do not post the final piece until the zine is finished, and the repercussions for someone who does range from a mod dming them to take it down or being kicked out of the zine entirely or in the absolute worst case, called out and blacklisted in the fandom and zine circles (I don't think anything that serious will happen to me but I have anxiety so I'm always imagining the worst thing) Most of the people on Tumblr in this fandom are kind of annoying fandom mom millennial types so I don't really want to deal with any possible backlash from them lol. If I just posted my art on Instagram idk if any of them would see it, but they Definitely would if I posted on Tumblr since the zine originated on there and it's such a small tag. I'm also so frustrated with the experience I kind of want to write something cunty in the description about how it's a zine piece for a zine that probably will never come out but I know that's just being petty and would probably invite drama. Also since I drew this thing a year and a half ago it's a little busted looking so I might redraw parts of it, so posting it would still be kinda shitty but it would technically be a different piece from the original one I submitted to the zine.
What are these acronyms?

The Mystery Is Solved
Tumblr media
Summary: It all clicks for (Y/N). Why the animatronics moved the way they did, why no one could find bodies. But she had yet to confront the real man behind the slaughter. She was not anticipating that the answers she wanted for so long were right in front of her...
Warnings: Mentions of spring lock scene, blood, fighting, spoilers, weapons
******
No one's POV
(Y/N) had hit so many dead ends in this investigation, it was abnormal. Most of her colleagues would've given up, especially with a case as long as this one. But not her. (Y/N) could feel the answers. She was almost there. It was at the tip of her tongue! But she was missing something. Something vital. Just beyond her reach. It annoyed her. She was so close to it!
She sat at her desk, her face in her hands, rubbing her tired eyes. It had just reached 10:30pm and she had already spent the majority of the day in her office, trying to figure out what she was missing. But she had gotten nowhere. As she stood up to gather her things and go home. She paused. On her desk laid out the pictures of the children. These pictures were taken with a person dressed up in a Spring-Bonnie suit. Brand new. They all smiled, but the pictures were taken individually. (Y/N) picked one up. The child was a young red haired boy called Fritz. Her eyes scanned the picture and spotted her was holding a hook....... like a pirate. Like....... Foxy!
(Y/N)'s eyes widened. It was even in the same place! Now she saw that, she looked at the others. Susie, Jeremy and Gabriel all had characteristics that matched Chica, Bonnie and Gabriel. As for Cassidy, (Y/N) was stumped, but this couldn't be a coincidence. She saw the man wearing the Spring-Bonnie suit in all these pictures. This had to be the link! She then thought back to the scene back in the 80's. She looked throughout the entire building. Nothing was found. Not even the air vents showed any signs. But there was one place they never checked. One place no one bothered to, because why would they mess around with robotics? It all made sense! She knew where the children were........ and she was too late. She had to tell Mike. (Y/N) grabbed her coat and ran out of the deserted station, most officers having already gone home. She had to get to the pizzeria!
She got into her car, speeding to the pizzeria, skidding to a halt outside. She discarded her coat, making sure her gun was loaded before slipping inside. Upon arrival, she saw a more battered version of the Spring-Bonnie suit. But the way it moved proved someone was inside there. Mike was on the floor, unconscious, Abby beside him, crying for him to wake up. The other animatronics making their way forward.
"Stop!" she shouted, making everyone pause. (Y/N) raised her gun, pointing it at Spring-Bonnie. He laughed, the mask making his voice distorted and robotic. "So, you finally figured it out. Took you long enough," he cackled. She didn't look impressed. "You covered your tracks well, I'll admit. But surely you didn't think you could get away with it forever," she spat, her hand steady whilst aiming. "You're smarter than the other cops. I remember seeing you for the first time back all those years ago. Maybe you're not just a pretty face after all," he sneered. (Y/N)'s gaze hardened. "Not a man enough to show your face...... Steve? Or whatever your real name is?" she asked. The man took off his mask, smiling smugly as he tossed it onto the floor. It was Steve. No..... William Afton.
"Do you honestly think you can stop me?" he chuckled darkly. The animatronics all looked at her. They were following his orders. "What you did to them was horrific. What you are still doing is even more barbaric. I won't let you take another life," she swore, cocking her gun. He raised his knife. "One cop against four animatronics and me. The odds aren't in your favour, (L/N)," he said, holding out his arms. Her eyes flickered over to where Mike had finally woke up. His eyes locked with (Y/N); a plan burning in his eyes.
"So be it," she said, taking a shot. But it didn't cause bad damage. William stumbled back due to recoil, but the exoskeleton and fiberglass shell protected his body. He scowled at her, going forward, his knife ready, batting the gun from her hand. (Y/N) moved back, grabbing his wrist, stopping him. She then shoved him back. Not hard enough for him to fall over, but enough to make him stumble. Abby then stood up, holding a drawing in her hand. William saw, going to stop her, but (Y/N) grabbed his wrist again. "I won't let you hurt her," she seethed. William glared at her, moving forward and stabbing her in her thigh, making her cry out in pain, falling down. The knife was buried deep in the thigh, cutting through a lot of muscle and tissue. The pain overwhelmed her senses, making her hearing and sight dull down. She faintly heard shouting, pained grunts and whimpers. (Y/N) felt someone grabbing her, putting an arm over their shoulders and hoisting her to her feet, half dragging her away as crashes and sparks flew. Her vision blacked out when she felt fresh air hit her face....
Some days later...
The first thing (Y/N) experienced when she came to was the feeling of someone holding her hand and a slight tingle and numbness in her right thigh. She groaned, slowly opening her eyes, letting them adjust to the lights of a hospital room. Once she got her bearings, she turned to look to the side. Mike was sat there, holding her hand, Abby beside him. "Hey, you're finally awake," he said gently. "You were asleep for ages," Abby butted in. "How long for?" (Y/N) asked, her voice slightly croaky.
"Two days," Mike said, handing over a plastic cup filled with water. She drank it gratefully. "What happened? Where's Afton?" she asked. Abby left to get something to eat. "He was spring locked inside his suit. He'll be dead," Mike said gently. It was silent for a minute. "(Y/N) there's something you should know. When Afton stabbed you...... your condition was bad," Mike explained. She raised an eyebrow. What exactly did he mean?
"The doctors stopped the bleeding, but you developed septicemia. They...... they had to amputate the leg," Mike said gently. (Y/N) froze, lifting up the blankets to show her right leg was missing. Nothing more the bandaged stump. "Oh my god," she whispered, looking at it. "The doctors said you were lucky to pull through," Mike stated. (Y/N) put the covers down, still a little shook. "What can I say?" she muttered, looking at him. "No one can get rid of me that easily.....
I always come back..."
*****
Two parts in one day. Hope you're liking this. I'm going to do a bit of (Y/N)'s backstory next time. I know this may seem like the end. But more is coming. If you got any theories or any suggestions about what might go on, feel free to comment. I hope you enjoy.

GUYS!! I saw Les Mis! In Munich!!!
Let's recap!
The Cast:
Daniel Gutmann as Javert. He was incredible. Definitely my personal highlight. Everytime he sang his voice just ROARED. And he was menacing holy shit. Aggggggh I'm normal about him
Barbara Obermeier as Eponine. When I first heard her sing in Act 1, I knew she was gonna kill it in Act 2. And she did.
Merlin Farcel aka Enjolras. His voice was so perfect I LOVED all the high notes, BUT:
Tumblr media
The beard. Sorry, but in my world Enjolras doesn't have a beard. Plus, it makes him look like Peter Maffay
Madame Thenardier was PERFECT (I don't remember who played her that night😭) She was so funny and the audience really loved her.
The Music:
At first, I felt a bit underwhelmed by the orchestra. To be fair, I listened to the 10th anniversary recording SO much, that I really got used to that grand orchestra sound.
There was an electric guitar and at one point an electric bass when Javert sang, which I really loved.
During Master of the House/ Beggars at the Feast you could really see the orchestra bopping their heads and having fun and that made me very happy
I really loved the brass section, they really stood out (That French Hurn during On My Own????!)
The Costumes:
Tumblr media
I don't know why, but the Les Amis were wearing these caps all the time. I have never seen a production with them in it. Is this a historically accurate thing?? I didn't really like them, they looked very plastic/shiny and fell out of place
I cannot find a picture but in the beginning of Act 1 Valjean wore a pink vest and then a purple coat which both looked very cheap and which I both didn't like (maybe it was because of the light? The colors felt very unnatural)
Tumblr media
Eponine's outfit. At first I thought it didn't look shabby enough. But it looks so badass I'll let it pass
Why don't you let Enjolras wear his red vest??
What is Marius wearing? Goofy boy
Tumblr media
Big Mad Hatter vibes from Thenardier. I loved his and the Patron Minettes outifits, they looked very edgy
Tumblr media
This is perfect. Perfect. I only wished he had undone his hair for Javert's Suicide (he did, but only for the last 10 seconds)
The Stage:
The stage had a turning middle and stairs that could be moved around, similar like in Hamilton.
They did a cool transition with young Cosette walking up the stairs and old Cosette walking down
Also, they had some cool staging with buildings moving around for Stars. But I feel like there was almost a bit too much happening in the background for this song.
I don't know why they didn't have the Barricades turn and show Enjolras hang upside down. It's such a cool/tragic moment!
During the Barricade scenes, the stage sometimes felt a bit empty. I mean, there were always like 15 people standing around. Maybe the Barricades were to small/not high enough
Empty chairs at empty tables. Where were the empty chairs and empty tables??
In Everyday/A Heart Full of Love Reprise single leaves started falling down on the stage (Like Valjean entering the Fall/Winter of his life) I loved that.
Also, the parallel of Marius learning to walk again using a cane, and Valjean loosing his ability to walk using a cane. I never noticed this before!
There are SO many cool things about the staging I could talk about here. But I want to mention some other topics as well:
The "Spirit" of the Show:
There wasn't a single French flag to be seen. Some red ones, but no French flags.
In the trailer, the director said he wanted to create a more universal setting, speaking to everyone in the audience
I think that's a great sentiment but like. Everyone has French names. There were titles above the stage telling us the year and locations (Places in France) of the events. The title of the show is French.
So I think adding the flags (aka a bit more French nationalism?) would have seemed a lot more convincing for the cause of the students and the whole spirit of the show
But maybe this also has to do with the show being in German? I don't know and I'd really like to discuss it. Maybe someone here made a similar experience seeing it in another language
And last, but MOST importantly:
What about Valvert and Enjoltaire?
In the Confrontation, Javert and Valjean got really close to each other. And I mean fighting each other and then stopping just to sing directly into each other's faces.
Instead of running infront of the court in Who Am I, Valjean just goes to Javert and rips his shirt open? Okay, go off I guess
In Drink with Me, we have a platonic forehead touch between Enjolras and Grantaire. Sadly, that's all I noticed between them 😔
Also, the fact that Grantaire is supposed to be ugly/shabby/a drinker/a sceptic got totally lost, which really takes away from his character.
Conclusion:
All the actors were good, some of them were FANTASTIC. I'd watch it again just for the guy playing Javert, if I could. God, he was SO GOOD
The music was all it should be, maybe a bit too reserved (but again, this might be because I am so used to the 10th anniversary concert)
I really loved some costumes and I also really disliked some
The staging was great, some choices confused me (flags, barricades etc.)
Would I watch it again?
Absolutely!
To be clear, some of the things here might sound more negative than I actually mean. It's just that I have watched SO many different productions online, that I fixated on all the great performances and how I think they should be done. Of course everyone has different opinions here.
Okay thanks for reading if you made it here. Have a great day!

They're jealous
Characters: Xavier Thorpe, Ajax, Male! Wednesday Addams, Male! Enid Sinclair, Tyler Galpin
Warnings: swearing, slight harassment
Wednesday M.List
Main M.List
Xavier Thorpe
you had recently gotten a job at the café in town that Tyler happened to work at and honestly you didn't know him all that well but you did know that Xavier had some kind if grudge against him which you never questioned because it seemed personal and plus it wasn't like you were friends with the boy so it never bothered you to much
today however Xavier happened to pay you a visit which you usually wouldn't mind but because Tyler didn't go to Nevermore he had no clue you and Xavier were dating which was shocking seeing as gossip spreads fast in the small town and you both have been dating for a year and a bit now, so Xavier just so happened to walk in when Tyler was attempting to ask you out and flirt with you
"c'mon just one date I promise I'll make it nice you won't regret it" he practically begged you because he can't take no for an answer
"I'm already dating someone and I would pick him over anyone any day" he then scoffed looking down mumbling something under his breath which you didn't appreciate
"what was that Tyler" you said turning around to look at him crossing your arms over your chest
"I thought you liked me, I bet I can change your mind please one chance y/n" he said slowly walking towards you and you were about to snap at him before someone else did for you
"tough luck Galpin she's with me and she'd never be with a normie like you" you looked behind Tyler to so Xavier behind him glaring daggers at him, you smiled widely before throwing yourself at him in a tight hug and you looked back at Tyler only to see him with a sour face before he walked away
you looked back at Xavier and kissed his cheek before hugging him again
Ajax (I can't spell his last name :,) )
you could feel his stare behind you but you couldn't help but be friendly to people even if said person doesn't know how to take a hint
"sooo has anyone asked you to the Rave'n yet" he said leaning his head closer to yours which only made you lean your head away from his awkwardly
"yes actually! I have been asked already" you said glad he asked thinking he'd finally leave you alone and boy were you wrong
"hm...really? I'm not surprised seeing how beautiful you are but i bet i can treat you to real good night baby" he said stalking towards you which just made you feel even more uncomfortable and you knew what he ment behind his words and you could only feel Ajax's stare harden and once his hands had reached your hips you saw his eyes look behind just before he turned to stone which shocked you at first before you grinned wide skipping over to Ajax and hugging him smiling even more when you felt his hands tighten around your waist
Male! Wednesday Addams
you had been dragged to the woods and to a scary small building by Wednesday in the dark and there was no chance you were going inside so you offered to guard outside which you now regretted seeing as its been 10 minutes and your called and the woods were only getting scarier by the second so when you felt hands wrap around your waist you let out the most loudest scream known to man your heart racing so fast
"woah woah there sweatheart, you don't have to be scared of me promise"
and you weren't any less panicked "I have a boyfriend please leave me alone " you say in a panicked tone trying to remove his arms from around your waist
"well I don't see him"
"Just because you don't see him doesn't mean he doesn't exist so please let go of my partner before I bend your legs so far back you loose all feeing in them" Wednesday said in his usual monotone voice appearing next to you with a harsh glare on his face and after that threat the man almost instantly let go and ran away
"are you alright my love?" he says turning towards you his voice not any less monotone but you could care less as you nodded your head throwing your arms around him
Male! Enid Sinclair
while you walking towards the cafeteria with Enid your very bubbly and loving boyfriend a random boy walked up to you and started spitting our terrible pick up lines honestly it was quite amusing seeing the boy say horrible pick up lines while your boyfriend who was still smiling but very clearly wasn't happy was right next to you
"are you wi-fi? cause I totally feel a connection" the boy said with a freakishly large smirk on his face while you physically cringed at that one
"um excuse me! they have a boyfriend" you hear Enid say next to you clearly jealous and all the boy did was snort
"really? this guy? you can do way better then this guy" and you were about to say something before you heard a deep growl besides ypu
"back off!" Enid says an lot more aggressive then the last time clearing loosing his patience with the guy and the guy clearly got seeing seeing Enid get his claws out
"alright alright jeez....I'm leaving" he says rolling his eyes and walking past the both of you
Enid looks over at you only to see you already grinning up at him
"what?" he says cluelessly
"nothing your just so cute when your jealous" and that made Enid turn bright red
"I wasn't jealous!"
Tyler Galpin
you were currently sat at a booth in the café Tyler worked out waiting for him to get off for a date you both had tonight and that's when a blond around 6'0 tanned muscular male sat across from you you stared at him with a blank face
"umm...hi?" you say confused having never met this man in your life
"Hey, your pretty what's your name?" you looked around to make sure he was talking to you and he most definitely was seeing as the café was practically empty
"thank...you? my name is y/n" you say still slightly confused
"such a pretty name for such a pretty face...do you have a boyfriend"
"yep I do, he's right there actually" you say pointing at Tyler who was drying a cup while staring at the both at you and the guy clearly was impressed
"really? him? you can do so much better then him, you deserve someone like me" he says leaning closer to you over the table
"no thanks, I don't think I could ever do better than him and he's 100% better then you" you say with a smirk plastered on your face and all he could was leave in a huff as you watched him leave jumping slightly when you heard Tyler's voice besides you
"who was that?" he says still drying the cup he was drying 5 minutes ago
"jeez warning next time but nobody special just some guy thinking he can get with me, why? you jealous?" you say looking up at him grinning and all he could do was look away with a red face
"No..." he replies and you let out a snort 'he so was'
That took forever

hey! i saw your vance/requests post and was wondering if you’d write anything about him? if so, would it be cool if you could do something where he and the reader really don’t like each other but something happens to bring them together?
thank you ! :)
Why'd you do that?
Tumblr media

requests are open !
summary: vance has always disliked you. you've always disliked him. but he had morals, and he wasn't that bad of a person.
vance hopper x gn!reader
word count: 1.4k
warnings: moose being an asshole and a creep, a crap ton of swear words,, ooc vance?? idk, maybe
a/n: im fr so sorry this took so long, i promise ill try and get the other one's out in a better timeframe
“here,” she started, as she walked towards her purse and shuffled through it, “i'll give you some money for you and your little friends so you can all get something from the gas station.” she pulled out her wallet and pulled out a $10 bill, “how does that sound?” she asked, as she smiled and handed it to you. her smile fell a bit when you said nothing.
Tumblr media
y'know, you had really wanted to stay home today, but "no, going outside and getting fresh air is good for you," is what your mother had said to you, and that was final. it wasn't like you hated going outside, and it wasn't even like you never went outside. you did! all the time! you were always out and about with robin and finney! which is why you didn't understand why she wanted you out so bad. but, when you had explained the bad feeling you had all morning, she sighed.
you playfully rolled you eyes with a heavy sigh leaving your lips. why not, y’know? hell, you’ll even surprise them! with that thought, you gave your mother a wide smile, “fine, but let me call finney and robin before i leave.”
-
you should have listened to your gut. when you called robin and finn, you told them to meet you at the spot you always met at in an hour - they both agreed. with that you took your longboard, keys, wallet with a new $10 bill - which was an absolute score, thanks ma - in it, you said goodbye to your mother and left.
when you got to the shop, you saw him at “his” pinball machine. now, you weren’t gonna lie, vance hopper was definitely the prettiest guy you’ve ever seen in your entire life, but you absolutely despised each other. when you had first gotten here 2 years ago, you had no idea who vance hopper was, or that the - horribly beat up - pinball machine in some random gas station belonged to him? and of course, the one time you decided to play, your brain decided that would be the day to beat a record on something. not just any record in fact, but vance fucking hopper’s high score on a game he absolutely loved. even while this was all true, you had to admit he had a pretty shitty high score.
when he eventually showed up, he was furious. and it only got worse when he tried to beat your ass for it and lost. can you believe that? he lost? vance hopper doesn’t lose.
either way, you both strayed away from each other, only ever sharing glaring looks, and mean words, but had never actually fist fought again.
when you walked in, the sound of the bell ringing caught a few people’s attention, their heads turning to look at who came in before looking away. you could see from the corner of your eye, there was a boy still staring at you. when you turned and saw who it was, you almost groaned. you knew moose had a little crush on you, and even though you had rejected him a multitude of times, he was always so persistent.
you rolled your eyes, deciding it would be better to walk past vance rather than be anywhere near moose. when you walked past vance, you could see the mass of his hair shift towards you to look at who was passing by, before you kept walking to the soda’s in the back. when you opened the door, you saw one of finney’s favorites on the top shelf. you tried to reach for it but it was just barely out of your reach. you felt someone’s presence behind you, and quickly turned around all while stepping to the side to get out from in front of whoever it was. upon seeing it was moose, you swear you could have vomited right then and there.
“the fuck do you want, moose? can’t you just leave me alone?” although you wanted to put as much distance between you two, there wasn’t anywhere else to go, so you stood your ground. and maybe it was just you, though, but was that vance fucking hopper staring at you two?
you watched as a sick smirk appeared on his face before he opened his mouth to speak, “just wanted to help someone pretty that’s in need,”
you grimaced, your face staying contorted in a scowl, “please just leave me alone, moose. i’m not in the mood to deal with you today,” you paused, before opening your mouth again, “lord knows how many times i’ve told you no.”
with that, you could see his face contort in a look of anger as his hand reached forward and grabbed your wrist, “can’t you just be grateful someone’s actually looking at you like you’re worth something?”
now, you’re not gonna lie here, you could definitely beat this ugly motherfuckers ass, however, you were awfully tired, and just didn’t have it in you to deal with it.
you attempted to tug your arm back, but his grip was firm - you would definitely have bruises later.
“let me go, you fucking coward,” you growled, but it only caused his grip to get firmer. he opened his mouth to say something, but was cut off by someone shoving him off of you.
you watched in surprise - and slight horror - as vance fucking hopper shoved him off of you and onto the floor, before climbing on top of him and relentlessly beating the shit out of him.
“you fucking dickweed!” as he yelled, he grabbed the front of moose’s hair and slammed the back of his head into the ground repeatedly, “they said no!”
as you were watching in surprise, the sound of moose’s head being slammed into the floor made you come to and jump forward and yank vance off moose. he gave you a glare and opened his mouth to say something, but you just pulled him along, speedwalking to the exit - while passing the cashier that was still on the phone with the police - and kept pulling him down the block.
when you were finally a safe distance - where the cops wouldn’t bother looking for him - you turned to him, “thank you for helping with him, but why?”
he gave you an incredulous look, and you paused, before continuing, “i mean, why did you do that? what was the point? i know you like, hate me and everything, so i just don’t understand why you defended me.”
the look stayed in his face, but morphed into something more like, ‘are you fucking stupid?’
“i don’t ‘hate’ you, but why does it fucking matter,” he scoffed as he spoke, rethinking everything that happened only 15 minutes earlier, “my mom would have me fucking carcerated if she found out i let some bullshit like that happen right fuckin’ in front of me.”
you were stunned, looking down at your shoes digging into the dirt as you thought about the situation you just got yourself into. and, you know, any - normal, and good - person would be upset, and maybe, possibly, intervene, but vance hopper? and standing up for you, no less? so you said the only thing that came to mind,
“oh,”
he laughed. he laughed. “’oh?’ that’s all you have to say?” you looked up, seeing the amused smile on his face. you felt your face get warm immediately, and looked down again.
“well, i don’t know what else to say,” you laughed, (and he laughed a little too, but tried to cover it up with a cough) before continuing, “we’ve never really talked before this. well, like, talked, talked. i’m not sure what to do at this point,”
“well,” he cleared his throat, seemingly a little nervous now, “we could just like, fucking get to know each other, instead of saying we fuckin’ hate each other or some stupid shit like that every chance we fuckin’ get,” you giggled a little at the amount of swear words the boy could fit into one sentence, “sure, i think that sounds like a good,” you paused for a second, before smiling, ”fuckin idea, vance”
“you gotta walk me to meet up with finney and robin though,”
“oh, do i?”
“of course, as repayment for me saving you from the cops and cleaning up your knuckles.”
“my knuckles?”
“yup! you are coming with after all, right? and it would be unfortunate for this med kit in my bag to go to waste, wouldn't it?"
he smiled a little, “sure, why fuckin’ not?”

you know funny enough, I feel like Jake and the neverland pirates would actually do really well as a Disney channel show for older kids (like say Gravity falls) instead of a preschool show. You’d be able to get more into lore and emotional stuff. Maybe even plot?
I don’t know, if they ever did decide to reboot the show it’s a neat idea.
*grabs your shoulders and shakes you excitedly*
THAT'S WHAT I'M SAYING!!!! LIKE!!!!
Ok, I think there is something to be done with Jake and his crew and his dynamic with Peter and Hook. Like for example how do the kids feel that Peter is only here for a day or a few hours, just enough to help with their issue? I'm sure the kids have a bit of an unhealthy attachment to him as he's really the only guardian figure they know, and as shown in Peter Pan's return, they all crave his attention so bad that they fuck up the mission trying to impress him! Like sure they can call him to bring him back to Neverland, but they don't perhaps he implemented a rule that they can only call him for emergencies. Which is also kinda hm. But you know he doesn't completely neglect them.
Word vomit incoming
Now let's take this a step deeper; what about Peter's relationship with them individually, it's clear he has a favorite, and it's Jake like that isn't a contest. Even if the show tries not to portray it in that manner it's obvious (I mean for fuck sake his name is in the title lol). His item(s)? A wooden sword personally hand-carved by Peter himself. After completing the Forever Quest, a golden sword called the Destiny Sword (towards the end of season 3) turns him into Captain Jake after giving the others a rousing speech about teamwork and how they can all get together to defeat Fathom with it. So it's clear he's the chosen (I'll touch more on that pressure later) by Neverland. But what does that mean for Izzy and Cubby? I mean sure they got items from him and he does care about them, but they're not as special as Jake. And they're never going to be, I mean god, Disney didn't even bother to make them Birthday episodes yet gave Jake two, then gave Skully and a minor character one. So it could develop into them realizing that while they are well-liked they aren't loved by Peter, Cubby is in denial about this revelation as he has gotten more gifts than Izzy. Izzy, the only girl in the main cast, is grated by this knowledge, she KNOWS and she has known for a long time. Enough to the point where perhaps she deserves a villain arc (then a redeemed villain arc) with the help of Captain Hook, who sees this opportunity to manipulate her for his gain.
Ok so jumping, let's go back to that Captain Jake issue. I personally didn't like Season 4, I thought it was shit BUT this new Captain Jake in a reboot could bring up an interesting little angst point called, "The pressure of being forced to be THE responsible one when you're only still a child." You might have all these other well-established Captains around you but, they depend on you to think of ideas, and come up with solutions to save the day, if you fail then it's on you but you're only 8 or 10 years old!!! A user mentioned this before but Jake could develop an entirely new personality as a Captain to make himself seem smarter and more capable than he actually is! This can go two ways A) he burns out and he burns out REAL bad and rather fast. B) The apple doesn't fall far from the tree, and the realization of how much power he holds makes him realize he can almost do whatever he wants because he IS the 2nd most powerful person after Peter. This then comes his Power-tripping arc and the consequences of Peter not dividing this power between the trio, and being gassed up everyone, which raises his ego through the roof. This can only end badly obv and it does, how? idk but just know it does.
As for Captain Hook, because this is New Disney he can't be 100% back to his OG self but he can absolutely be raised to be more of an asshole in a Disney channel show and probably a bit fucked up. But you also would have to thread carefully on how you do these things, because one wrong move and Disney will have you rewrite the whole thing and tone it down more than need be. I also think there would be more to explore with the kids and their dynamic with him, since they also would have more nuance to them. They could have more stakes with him, and could honestly do more messed up shit with them he could make them have an inner conflict, he could manipulate one to join his side temporarily. Put the kids in more life-threatening situations that they don't come out unscathed from. Hell, you know what, I want him to win some episodes and get his way with Jake and his crew being powerless to stop it. It would teach a lesson that some days, you just can't win, someone who is nasty will win and get away with it and you have to be ok with that! (if you have resourced all your options first) Life will not always go your way. As for him and Red Jessica, show a toxic relationship, I mean come on do you REALLY think she has a thing for hook lol, it was shoehorned Hetero-shipping bait and it worked now can we do something else with it? As for smee, sharky and bones? I guess they can be less friendly to the sea pups, it would be more of a loyalty thing rather than a personal thing.
Also, the show could bring back the lost boys, to make the island seem less empty than it is, and maybe a different set of kids to replace the Native Americans.
Finally, to end this word vomit, the relationship between the kids. I really beg it be explored more. Now don't get me wrong they can have a wholesome and loving bond but not everything has to be peachy-keen. Like sure Jake is their captain but do they, not envy or resent him in some way? For example, they're all bright but Izzy is shown to be the brightest she has more knowledge about Neverland and its artifacts, so why is she not captain? Is it because she isn't naive enough? She isn't as nice or forgiving as Jake? She has no issue snapping at you when she's fed up? Then there's cubby, does he even have the real guts to be cut up for this type of thing? The classic "why him and not me?" type of deal. Then there's Cubby, does he hate being just stuck as coconut boy by his peers and other pirates? Will he ever break out of his shell, does he have a breaking point with his friends? Then Jake gets annoyed that they're not as in sync as they once were, he kinda hates that they're developing on their own and steadily gaining more and more independence. They're willing to talk back to him, be rude, and do less trio activities. Which leads to more conflicting ideas, possibly fights, and less "what I say goes!". He is scared of them changing and becoming their own individuals, he's scared that they might be growing up.
Sorry this is so so so long and rambly, I just have a lot to say about a reboot for this show that I cannot help myself.

YouTube 2023 Year in Review
Tumblr media
Welp! Guess it's that time of year again. I'm sure 2023 has been a...pretty interesting year to say for quite a few people. And for me personally, it's also been a weird little year that's great in some parts and could be better in others.
What have I been up to?
My life right now is kinda divided into three parts:
A) the "IRL" stuff, as in working on my editing day job and spending time with family.
B) working on YouTube videos which I still have the passion for,
and C) playing video games, collecting cool things and socializing with my online friends.
I've always felt that it's difficult for me to put equal attention to all three, and lately, it definitely feels like I'm focusing on 'A' and 'C' more. Of course, my day job is kinda how I make a living at the moment so that obviously gets priority, but that doesn't mean I want to ignore my YouTube stuff! It's just hard to sneak in a few lines of script-writing while multitasking at a day job, and only being able to freely spend time on 'B' and 'C' during night isn't the most productive way to go about things, especially with other things that aren't YouTube production. I also have games I want to play, art I want to draw, folks I'd like to hang out with etc.
And that's a fine, healthy way of going about things online for regular folks! But I don't want my YouTube channel to stagnate as a result of this, because I still love making videos! I have support from folks on Patreon, and I still hope to continue growing the channel so that it becomes more sustainable to do frequent updates.
Part of me has always thought about just quitting my day job once I have a decent amount of money saved up and just try doing YouTube full-time and rely on Patreon, even if there's a very low chance it'd be sustainable. Of course, that's a big gamble, and I'm not truly sure if that's really the best way to go about things. But those are just my inner thoughts and I've rambled long enough...
So, I apologize for the above situation sort of being the root cause of the recent slower pace of my YouTube channel! The pace of the channel this year is about the same as in 2022, if not a little slower. I didn't really get a lot of dormant scripts from 2020-2021 off the ground, but being true to what I said in last year's Year in Review, I did end up working on a lot of spontaneous ideas even if there wasn't a "big" core video! In fact, I think almost every video released in 2023 that we'll discuss below were spontaneous ideas.
I'll talk more about what's to come for the channel in the end of the post, but for now, as usual, we'll take a look at each video I made during 2023 and I'll share my thoughts and some fun facts about each!
A Trip to the Hong Kong Kirby Pop-Up Store
youtube
Various things were put up on the channel from January to March, including a funny little short for Mario Day and a new trailer for a revamped Patreon, but the major thing I put out was a look at the Kirby Pop-Up Store in Hong Kong! This was my first time doing a scripted documentation of an in-person event, and Nintendo Hong Kong would eventually do more events like Nintendo Live 2023 Hong Kong, and I'll definitely be talking about them on my channel eventually!
As for fun facts...uhh...I suppose Patreon patrons get to see the full unedited raw footage I took from the event lol
Top 10 Nintendo Trivia You NEVER Knew
youtube
This year's April Fools video...was also a last-minute sort of idea, if I recall correctly! The concept is simple: it's a parody of generic Top 10 trivia videos in terms of presentation, but the curveball is instead of just doing other blatantly obvious fun facts, the facts would actually be super obscure, inconsequential Nintendo facts that barely anyone would've known about, so in the end it's kind of a legit trivia video in a twisted way. The facts in the video were sourced from new research, me asking friends for suggestions and some of my old posts on Twitter, so there were a few 'fun' facts that were left on the cutting room floor, and here's a good place to share them!
In an early version of the GameCube instruction manual, Mario 64 was used as a placeholder game
The infamous 'black box' in Super Mario 64 DS is not a visual glitch as commonly believed, and briefly appears in E3 2004 footage
Prototype screenshots of Mario 64 have appeared in an early print of the game's box art...and on a Nintendo Monopoly board in 2006 (next to the ? Block on the right side of the board if you're looking)
The Onion in Hey! Pikmin has white and purple in its colors, even though white and purple Pikmin never appear in the game
The original 3DS had two separate sets of black & white colors, for some reason
And to finally come clean...yes, around 30% of the video's script was generated using ChatGPT, as part of the joke. Mostly the introductory bits at the beginning of each segment, since it definitely did not give me the results I wanted when I asked it to describe the specific details of each fact, so y'know, hopefully that's a sign it's not coming for my job of talking about obscure Nintendo things! And don't worry, this will probably be the only time I ever use AI in my videos.
The Better N64 Wavebird Experience
youtube
This is a follow-up to a 2021 video where I also used the N64 Switch Online controller on an original N64, albeit with a different adapter! This actually isn't a case where I received a free product to do a review on, I just happened to read about a better alternative, pre-ordered it online, it arrived in April and I decided to knock out a quick review/comparison video in 2 days!
As such, this is more of standard informative review video, but in all honesty, I still really like this setup, and it's in my opinion still one of the best controller options for original N64 games. So much so, that I recently completed my NSO controller collection by picking up a Sega Mega Drive 6-button NSO controller to eventually use with my original Mega Drive! I'm still looking for the compatible 8bitDo adapter though, so maybe when I eventually do, that can be a quick little video on the Plus channel for patrons!
The Most Expensive amiibo
youtube
This is my favorite video I put out this year! The Qbby amiibo has always been in my sights for a while, and I've gone on record saying that I'd make a video on it if I got my hands on one.
Back in 2019, I once saw a Qbby amiibo being offered on Yahoo Auctions for a relatively cheap price, but to afford it I asked for extra donations via Ko-fi. Looking back on it now there were probably better options I could've taken, but either way the listing got cancelled and I refunded everyone who donated for that. Then sometime later I saw another relatively cheap BOXBOY package in a local listing, but then the seller never replied and deleted the listing, so the amiibo has eluded me until now, and there seems to be no signs of Qbby stock going down any time soon. My hope for a Qbby reprint continues, and hopefully this video still serve as a little awareness boost for folks who are wondering why he's one of the most expensive amiibo around!
Some of the gag editing on this one got spruced up a little bit which I enjoyed doing, but you also probably noticed that I got a turntable specifically for those glamour shots! ...yeah, I'll probably get more use of that thing later on as well.
The Kirby Battle Royale online joke wasn't exaggeration: I couldn't find anyone to play online with! I suppose that is to be expected for, y'know, playing a mid 3DS game in 2023, but it's a shame that Kirby Battle Royale doesn't at least offer a option to play with friends, and from some experimentation, it seems that two of my US-based friends were able to match with each other online while I couldn't, which also suggested some region-based matchmaking was at play. Oh well! There are some better 3DS games out there that I'd still like to play online one last time before their servers shut down this April.
Tetris...on a McDonald's Nugget
youtube
Continuing the trend of 'make video on a recent find' for the third video in a row, it's the China-exclusive McDonald's Tetris Chicken McNugget! For an unscripted Things of Interest video, it turned out pretty well, kinda like the Rhythm Tengoku arcade video in 2022! Compared to the first unscripted TOI back in like 2018, I've definitely gotten a bit better at rambling since.
I was kind of a few days late to the party, and some other videos about the Tetris Nugget from larger channels have racked up more views since, but that's not really the point! As a casual Tetris fan that happens to be in proximity to mainland China, something as bizarre as this is totally right up my alley. Covering China-exclusive gaming stuff just kinda reminds me that I have yet to do a video on the iQue Player though, which I really want to...
FlashBoy Plus: The $95 Virtual Boy Flashcart
youtube
I haven't really taken a YouTube sponsorship deal yet, but I do get emails about doing reviews or ad reads of items on occasion, like new Switch gaming accessories from different third parties and whatnot. Unfortunately, that's not really the type of stuff I do regularly on the channel unless I find a great angle to tackle it from, so the only review offer I've done on the channel until now is a limited Switch physical release in 2020.
When I was offered to review the FlashBoy Plus, I was definitely intrigued despite having already previously covered the HyperFlash 32, a technically better option! Virtual Boy flashcarts are already a very niche thing, so I gladly took the opportunity to take a look at any new option out there, and even if it's not a mainstream topic at all it does kinda appeal to me specifically.
In the video, I mentioned the (very cool looking) clear cartridge shell was not a publicly available option yet at the time of the review, but looking at the order site now, it has been added since! So hey, good for them! It is honestly pretty sick to have a transparent Virtual Boy cartridge.
Playing PC Games with the SNES Mouse & Famicom Keyboard
youtube
I started work on the next core video right after the FlashBoy Plus video (more on that in the last section), but getting sick during early December forced me to delay it, so for that month I decided to do one last spontaneous idea: a followup to the 2021 video where I used the Famicom keyboard and SNES Mouse on a computer...but this time on a proper PC!
A thing that was brought up in the comments was one setting in particular: when I was changing the mouse settings in the Control Panel, there was a 'Enhance pointer precision' option that I didn't uncheck, which presumably slows down the mouse for precise movements. There wasn't a super noticeable difference when I unchecked it during further testing, but when I coupled it with further increasing the mouse sensitivity in games that allow you to change it in-game, I was actually able to get the SNES Mouse to move at a decent pace in some games! Of course, that requires tweaking with additional settings that would normally be overkill for a regular mouse, so it's still not practical, but at least there was a setup that would alleviate some of my complaints in the video.
Akfamilyhome Plus videos
youtube
Over on my second channel Akfamilyhome Plus, once again there's a variety of stuff! There's Mario Wonder memes, a new high quality video game rip album, archival footage and more. If there's one thing you should check out though, it's the supercuts of me playing Everybody 1-2-Switch with my Discord server. It's the best kind of chaos. Long live Kitchen Timer 4.
This year, 8 new unscripted bonus videos were released publicly! You can enjoy watching me:
Visit the 3DS eShop on its final day of operation
Check out the Nintendo DSi XL Demo Video carts
Look through gaming goodies on a Chinese second-hand market
Unseal Captain Toad Treasure Tracker for the 3DS
Read through the 2010 Nintendo Anti-Piracy Manual
Unbox a complete copy of the original GBA Play-Yan
Compare the two popular 3DS capture card models
And check out the Nintendo Power...rewritable cartridge!
And over on Patreon, 8 more exclusive videos are also available, featuring things like a slew of Nintendo cleaning kits, iQue DS games, the Chinese Mario Movie DVD and more! As always if you don't want to wait till some of them rotate into public availability, they're all available on Patreon for just $1 USD a month!
The fuuuuture
Okay, so what's next for 2023?
I mean 2024. Oh god the typos are already starting.
Right before the FlashBoy Plus video came out, in late June 2023, I did a video topic poll on Patreon, asking what idea I should do next. Out of the four options given, one of them is a continuation of a limbo project from 2021, and the other three were spontaneous new core video ideas I came up with and wanted to do.
Well, one of the spontaneous new ideas won the poll, so the next core video is...
Tumblr media
A look at the camera and sound apps on both the Nintendo DSi and 3DS! I originally wanted to get this out in December, and you all know what happened to that plan, BUT the script is done, the VO recording is done, footage recording is well underway and I am confident I'll be able to get it out this January. I really like how the script for this one shaped up and am commissioning some banger thumbnail art for it (🐦), so I REALLY hope you'll look forward to it!
Afterwards, there are a few in-progress ideas that I also want to work on for quick videos afterwards. As mentioned above, I visited Nintendo Live 2023 Hong Kong which was hosted on November, and ALSO the Nintendo Hong Kong Pop-Up Store which is running from December to January, so both of those would make for a perfect video in a similar vein as the Kirby Pop-Up Store video last year!
I also went on a trip to Japan last August, and took quite a bit of photos and footage. I still want to share my findings and experiences of being in Tokyo for the first time that I could remember, so there will be a fun little piece about that going on the Plus channel in the future!
And don't forget, I'm making a video about every game I beat during 2023, continuing the thing I started last year!
And after ALL of the above is done, I still have the remaining core video ideas from the June Patreon poll I did, since I did say I'd eventually love to do all of them, and that desire still hasn't gone away. I don't know how the rest of 2024 will go for this channel but I'd say this is a fantastic starting point, and I hope it'll all go up from there, since I'd really love to be more productive on here, while trying to keep that A-B-C balance in check!
So yeah! That's it for the 2023 Year in Review. If you've made it all the way to the bottom, thank you for reading! Here's a 25-use invite link to my Discord server as a little something! Thank you to all of you who've supported me this past year, whether you're a viewer or a patron, and I hope to keep up the work this year and try to strive for better!

SAVIOUR COMPLEX (Mark Hoffman X F!Reader Pt. 11)

His.
Despite his proud and possessive disposition, Mark hasn't had something that was only his. He never had John's approval, not like Amanda did. He even suspects that John was working towards getting rid of him, but died before he could carry out the act himself.
Perhaps that's why there is a potential third apprentice.
Yes, Ted deserved to be in a trap. But again, coincidences…
Mark doesn't sleep. All he can do is watch you breathe, your mouth slightly parted, hair falling in your face despite the fact that he brushes it back each time. Despite your big personality, you manage to curl up so small next to him. Like any part of you that isn't in his reach is in danger. The thought makes his stomach knot. You feel safe with him- you ever feel unsafe at all.
He can't explain it. He hasn't had any semblance of a genuine connection since Strahm and that was…well, not this. A hateful connection, a hunting and hunted connection. Exhilaration for both of them. But you. He's ready to do anything for you. He knows he'll have to.
He hates leaving you in the morning but you shower together, may or may not fool around before he dresses and heads to his destination for the day.
He walks out the door right as Gibson pulls up. Part of him feels guilty that you'll have to more than likely have a conversation with him in the car, but another part of him takes pleasure in Gibson knowing. Knowing that he's back in the saddle and that has you. Back in full control.
Mark and Gibson pass each other in silence but with even stares. When Mark gets into his car, he sees in the rearview mirror Gibson leaning against his cruiser, staring off.
Mark drives to the hospital, presents his badge at the front desk. The nice lady points him to an elevator for the third floor. Ah, Mark thinks, he's moved offices.
The nameplate is unmistakable: Dr. Lawrence Gordon, Chief of Surgery.
Mark raps at the door.
“Come in.”
He does. Lawrence doesn't look up at first until Mark closes the door behind him. When he does, Lawrence does a very good job of hiding his surprise. Not good enough, though.
“Dr. Gordon,” Mark greets, extending a hand. Gordon takes it. “Good to meet you. I'm-”
“Detective Mark Hoffman. Yes, I know. You've been on the Jigsaw case. You saved that little girl, yes?”
Mark wonders if Gordon would know all that if he weren't a suspect. As a survivor himself, Gordon may just keep up with the news.
“All part of the job. I was wondering if I could get your insight, being a survivor and all.”
Gordon smiles, clasps his hands together and leans forward.
“Of course. Ask away.”
Mark knows that this is the time to sit, but he isn't going to. He's going to tower over Gordon for as long as he can.
“I know it's been years, and I know you've been asked about a thousand times, but is there anything else you remember about that night? Anything that you didn't report, or might have come up after the fact?”
Gordon shakes his head. “I'm afraid not, Detective, though I've spent many a night toiling over it. I blacked out, got only flashes. By this point we know it was John Kramer that took me.”
They stare at each other for a moment.
It's him. It has to be.
“Well, some information is better than no information. I'll let you get back to your job, but take my card.”
Hoffman hands Gordon one of his business cards and Gordon takes it with a tight nod and a smile. Hoffman turns to leave but snaps and spins around like he just had an idea.
“Almost forgot. Would you happen to know a Jill Tuck?”
Once again, Gordon's good. But not good enough. He pretends to think.
“The name is familiar. Why?”
“John Kramer's widow.”
“Ah! Yes, perhaps long ago when Mr. Kramer was receiving treatment here. But not since.”
“And she's made no attempt to contact you?”
“Not that I'm aware of.”
Mark lets it sit, then smiles.
“Thanks, Doc. I'll let you get back to it. But don't hesitate to call if you think of anything.”
“Happily.”
Mark gives it a half second longer before leaving the room, not seeing the frown that breaks onto Gordon's face.
-
Just because he's off the case doesn't mean Mark can't look through the Jigsaw case files. His fingers flit through the folders in the filing cabinet before finding Gordon's file. And, for good measure, he grabs Jill's as well. His eyes linger for a moment on Amanda's, but he decides to leave it.
As he is leaving, Gibson enters the room and they bump into each other. Mark takes a patient step back and a deep breath. Gibson seems to do the same.
“Hoffman. Welcome back.”
“Good to be back.”
A beat. Gibson notices the folder.
“Whatcha got there?”
Mark knows he can't bullshit this.
“Couple of case files from the Jigsaw case.”
Gibson steps past Mark and into the records room.
“Now Mark, I'm pretty sure you're off the Jigsaw case.”
“Don't get cute. I'm allowed to access files same as you or anyone else.”
“But it don't look good, does it?”
“Why don't you let me worry about that.”
Gibson sort of meanders around, but catches Mark before he leaves.
“You know, I was pissed when I heard you were back. I won't lie. Might've even scared your girlfriend a little. Don't worry, I apologized.”
Mark grinds his teeth and turns back to face Gibson.
“Did it slip your fucking mind that I saved your life? That I was there that night?”
“Of course I remember and I'm grateful. But here's the thing. I still think you're a brash, arrogant son of a bitch that doesn’t know what he’s got.” Hoffman’s face must change because Gibson chuckles. “Not like that. Your job. You think it’s all guaranteed. And as soon as it wasn’t you were scrambling around like a kid who just got grounded.”
“Some would call that corrected behavior.”
“And those people are stupid. I see you, Hoffman. And I don’t know what you’re hiding, but it’s something.”
Fed up but refusing to cause a scene, Mark approaches Gibson who stands his ground. Mark dips his head down.
“If all of that were true, do you really think it would be a good idea to fuck with me about it?”
Gibson is quiet, but his eyes tell Mark everything he needs to know. He certainly suspects something, even if he’s not quite sharp enough to know what straws he’s grasping at. Either way, he’s becoming a problem that Mark can’t get rid of with violence. He needs to do it quietly.
When Gibson remains silent, Mark stalks from the room, that arrogant son of a bitch smile playing on his lips.
-
Of course the drive from home to work is uncomfortable. Not because Gibson says anything (and thank everloving fuck he doesn't) but because the tension of both of you knowing he knows is unbearable.
He doesn't even say anything when he drops you off, just drives away when you're out of the car. At this point, shrugging your bag up your shoulder, you begin to doubt his handling of the whole situation. So what? You and Mark are sleeping together. How is that any of his business.
You figure at this point that Gibson is determined to make an enemy of Mark for whatever reason and that you have nothing to do with it (you hope).
It's more the same at work. Now that things have started to settle, Mark has his job back, you finally got dicked down right- the restaurant almost seems too monotonous. Despite the public perception of waitressing you actually enjoy it. Sometimes it makes you want to tear your hair out, but you like the people and the constant running. Anytime you sit still is a time to stew. Probably why you still can't quite nail the knitting.
You get a corner booth. A kind looking woman- in her 40’s likely. Long and curly blonde hair, wide smile, and she makes eye contact as you approach.
“Heya friend! Welcome to Malone's. Can I get you started with something to drink?”
Your intro is rote at this point but the enthusiasm seems to get to the woman.
“Oh, sure! Nonsweet tea?”
“No problem. Lemon?”
“Please.”
“Alright. Be right back.”
You return to the alley and lament the fact that opening staff didn't label the tea jugs- again. You hate tea either way but force yourself to test one of the containers in a small styrofoam cup. You force yourself to not spit it out. Yep, that one is sweetened.
You get the drink and return it to the woman. She thanks you, smoothing out a napkin on her lap, and tucks her hands under her chin.
“Alrighty, you have any questions, or you ready to order?”
“Gosh, can I just say that you're so refreshing?”
You smile and blush. “Oh wow, thanks. Just part of the job.”
“Oh, don't I know it. It's that way in my job, too.”
You lean against the empty seat across her.
“What do you do?”
“I work at an emergency clinic.”
“Oh wow. Well thanks for your work. I can’t even imagine.”
“Well, good days and bad days, and I’m sure you get that. Anyway, can I get a Cobb salad, please?”
“Yeah, for sure. Anything else?”
“No, thanks.”
You smile at her and leave her table, punching in her order and continue through your section. You smile to yourself. It’s refreshing to meet nice people.
-
Gibson takes you home per usual. You wish that, all things considered, Mark could cart you back and forth. But off the case, you both know he could get in trouble for crossing lines.
Gibson notices your unusually chipper behavior.
“Good day?”
You sigh and run a hand through your hair. “Actually? Yeah. Better than the usual, anyway.”
He kind of huffs. It sets you weird, so you give him a look. He side eyes you, then sighs.
“Why are you a waitress, anyway? Seems like you’ve got enough of a brain to do something better for yourself.”
What?
“I’m sorry, what?”
“I’m just saying. It’s not an insult. I would just think with your pride that you’d do something else. Something more worthwhile.”
Oh, and that lights you up with indignation. If you weren’t so livid, you’d notice that this is unusual for, despite his occasional personality shifts.
But you don’t think that. You think about slapping the shit out of him.
“Fucking excuse me? You ever work in the service industry?”
Gibson chuckles in condescension. “Worked my old man’s auto shop in high school. What’s your point?”
“Day in and day out, I have to deal with people. Face to face, throughout the entire exchange. It takes every bit of personality, smarts, and looks as well. You know I get tipped better when I wear a certain bra? Like my tits have anything to do with my job performance?”
“Sounds like they’re linked-”
“You don’t ever, ever get to comment on my life. Ever. I’ve let it slide when you’re shitty about Mark, but say another fucking word about my job, or my apartment, or anything else and I’ll give you a reason to arrest me. Got it?”
You’re the kind of angry that has your heart pounding in your ears, the kind that fogs your mind over until all you can manage are the venomed words that spew from your lips. You know you’re red and you know you look like you mean it, because Gibson is watching you very seriously.
You don’t begin to come down until he pulls over and puts the car in park, and even then the fury is just replaced by paralyzing fear.
He’s gonna hurt you. He’ll take you into the woods and kill you.
Gibson turns to face you in the driver’s seat. Even though it’s purely because of the fear, you can at least keep his gaze and not crumble under it.
“Don’t ever threaten me again.”
Your next words are stupid.
“Or what?”
His fingers hook your jaw into a vice grip and any composure flees from your body as survival kicks in. You shoot out hands to free yourself but Gibson gets those as well with his free hand, caging them into the console. You wince at the force.
“I don’t know where you get off by being a stuck up bitch. You and Mark really are a match made in heaven.”
You try to move out of his bruising grip but you can’t.
“What did I do? What did I do???”
Maybe your panic and its root finally hits him because he releases you with a push.
“I just don’t like people that squander potential. To have opportunity and not use it.”
You shake and hold your chin, then narrow your eyes at him.
“…you sound like Jigsaw.”
He laughs. “Now that’s a laugh. If anyone of us would be Jigsaw, it would be Hoffman.”
You roll your eyes. You feel the banter trying to creep back in, but he put his hands on you. He hurt you.
“Don’t even joke about that.”
“Why? It lines up. You’ve never thought about it?”
No, you hadn’t. But as soon as he says it you know it’s all you’ll think about.
-
Mark comes over. You order pizza and sit on the couch, watching old horror movies with your legs slung across his lap. You get distracted occasionally by the way the blue light of the tv cuts across his face in the otherwise dark room. He doesn’t look any different- not in the literal sense. But he looks…domestic. He’s distracted. Vulnerable.
You yearn.
You swing your legs off his lap and crawl over to him. He’s surprised- not by the immediately movement but more by the dip in the couch next to him, and he doesn’t even look over until you’re kneeling beside him. When he notices you, finally, he gives you a smirk and narrows his eyes.
“What’re you doing?”
“I like you in this light,” you murmur. You swing a knee across to straddle his lap. Your nails rake through his hair and he hums in appreciation.
“Oh yeah? What do you like so much about it?”
Control.
“You look…sweet.”
Sweeter than-
“Sweet?”
“Sweet enough to eat.”
You bury your face in his neck and plant warm, wet kisses against his pulse. Hands roam from your sides to your ass, cupping the plump flesh there, leaving dimples with his thick fingers. You take a risk: bare your teeth. Nip at the sensitive skin under his jaw. He gasps and you lick away the quick pain with a stroke of your tongue. Between both your clothes and can feel his hardness growing.
“You want me to do something about that?”
You ghost your lips across his and cup the crotch of his pants; he bucks against your palm.
“Want nothin’ more.”
As if you needed to hear it. You slip off your sweats, undo his belt and pull down his pants. You grope blindly behind you on the coffee table where you know his wallet is and where, inside, you know is a condom. You don’t bother with your panties; you free his cock from the confines of his boxers and give him a few languid strokes, rolling on the condom, before pulling aside the fabric between your legs. You brace one hand on his shoulder and use the other to lower yourself down. You bottom out with a low groan and he tosses his head back against the couch.
When he tries to move, you put a hand against his chest.
“Wait-” you say, and he stills. Slow breaths. Focus on the feeling of being filled and the pressure of it. Your walls, begging for friction. His cock, twitching inside of you just yearning for movement.
He jerks on accident and you both moan. Breaths growing shallower. The urge gnashing and fighting to break from you both.
You think of Gibson’s fingers pressing against bone, of Ted’s hands marking every inch of you. Too long you’ve waited. Too much being bottled and refused and no, no more. Something has to change. Someone has to change.
With a purpose stronger than you could have expected, you roll your hips once, then twice, and Mark seems to let everything go before he takes your movement as a sign to start. And he doesn’t waste any time, grabbing onto your hips and bouncing you up and down, each impact hitting you deliciously and spanning stars across your eyes, electrifying your skin.
You dare to open your eyes. The muscles in his neck, the animalistic way his face contorts and the sounds he makes. If you weren’t so convinced of his feelings for you, you’d be afraid he’ll split you open.
It would be Hoffman.
But the thought blows like a candle as you cum, your hands flying desperately to find purchase on any part of him and he continues his movements. The overstimulation is driving you mad and you dig into his skin. When he cums, it sends you into a second orgasm.
You can’t help but chase the high and it isn’t until he stills your hips that you stop moving.
“Hey, hey hey,” he whispers, his voice thick and husky. You sigh, drop your head against his shoulder and whimper as you lift and then seat yourself next to him. He kisses your shoulder, maneuvers your body to cradle into his side.
“You okay?” He murmurs into your hair. A hand rests gently on your other shoulder and a thumb circles your skin.
“Are you?”
“Of course. But that was…”
Panic spikes through from your stomach to your mouth and you turn on him.
“Oh my god. Oh my god, I’m sorry. I don’t know-“
“Hey,” he shushes you with a kiss. “You didn’t do a damn thing wrong. You’re safe, I’m safe. We’re safe together, get it?”
“I just- I’m so…”
Gibson’s assault on you is not ideal pillowtalk. But you also know that if Mark finds out, when he finds out, he’ll kill Gibson. But then, he knows something is off, and when he asks why, how are you supposed to lie?
“Hey, where’d you go?”
You blink and you’re back.
“I just needed…to control it. You know? So much.”
He brushes fingertips against your temple to brush some hair away.
“Can you tell me why?”
No. You’d never live again. No matter what you’ve seen or what you think. Everything would be lost.
And even among the hyperbole your chin still throbs with the memory of Gibson’s fingers.
You shake your head.
“I don’t know what to tell you.”
“Did something happen? Something else?”
Mark’s fingers trace a little too closely to your chin so you sit up. Shake your head. Sigh.
“I’m sorry. I’m just tired.”
He opens his arms for you so you rest your head against his chest and tuck up your knees.
What’s happening to you? Your thoughts become fragmented and you can’t get a word out before your brain resets. You start to regret the evening. You start to regret the day.
“It’s not you,” you whisper.
“I know.”
“I-“
You want to tell him. You have to tell him.
You’re blowing things out of proportion.
No. That’s how it always starts.
“Something happened today.”
Mark doesn’t say anything but you feel him stiffen.
“I was riding home with Gibson-“
He flexes his fingers, takes deep breaths and forces his muscles to relax.
“We got into a fight and- he grabbed me. Not hard-“ liar. “But on my chin. It’s not a big deal, but it’s too much like…”
He can’t take it. He relinquishes some of his restraint and pulls you closer to him.
“You can’t hurt him. You’ll lose your job.”
“Better my job than you.”
The words sound so natural coming from him that you don’t register their gravity.
“I’m not going anywhere.”
“No,” he says. “You’re not.”

Friendsgiving (Christen Press x Reader)
Just a short little fic today. We don't have thanksgiving here, but I saw so much about it and this idea popped into my head. Happy thanksgiving to everyone who celebrates it :)
Words: 1.5K
"Babe! Hurry up, they're almost here." Christen yelled from the kitchen as I had just finished putting on my pants. I slipped on my button down without doing up the buttons and ran down the stairs.
"I'm coming!"
"Don't run down the stairs. Please tell me you're doing up that shirt."
"I thought I'd give you a present and keep it undone," I winked pulling her closer. Her hands ran along my stomach and around to my back. I shivered at the coldness of her hands before placing a lingering kiss on her lips.
She kissed my collar bone before pulling away and slowly doing up my buttons, "As much as I enjoy the view, this is for my eyes only. You look great Y/n. Don't worry, they're going to love you."
My hands covered her, squeezing slightly. I knew she was nervous about me meeting her team properly for the first time. We were having a slightly late friends-giving dinner at mine and Christens, it wasn't all her teammates, but the ones she was closest to and were able to fly in would be there. A few of them were going to stay and hangout with us for a few days to make a holiday out of it. I had met a few of them briefly here and there over the years, though it was never for very long. I wasn't all that nervous, it probably wouldn't hit until they got here. "Are you trying to reassure me or yourself? Whatever happens, will happen Chris. It'll be okay. Try and relax so you can enjoy the night. I know how much you love holidays like this."
In all honesty, I had never really celebrated Thanksgiving until about 3 years ago when I had been in country and invited by her parents. I'd lived in Spain since I was like 2, my parents were from there and moved back when to be closer to family. I had met Christen in college, we grew very close, but we hadn't started dating until Christen had moved to Sweden. It was never my intention to actually start anything with her, mostly because of the distance. We were talking everyday, I started visiting her regularly since she was closer and things just progressed from there. By time she moved back to the US, I wasn't ready to move with her yet, but I was madly in love with her and willing to do anything to make the distance work.
It had been hard since we spent the better part of 10 years long distance with me still being in Spain and her being in the states. We had made it work with frequent trips to see each other and long FaceTime's. Thankfully, my job let me work remotely so I could visit her often. We'd gotten married in secret 3 years ago, but I hadn't moved here until 8 months ago. I had wanted to move years ago, and had been planning on it, then my dad died and I couldn't leave my mum alone. Christen had been nothing, but supportive when I broke down and told her I couldn't move. After my mum died at the start of the year, I had packed up my whole life in a couple of months and moved to be with Christen. It was an adjustment, but we couldn't be happier.
"You go get ready, I'll finish setting up."
---
When the first knock sounded on the door, the nerves finally hit me. Christen must have noticed because she wrapped her arm around my waist and placed a kiss to my cheek, "I love you so they're going to love you."
I pecked her lips before pulling away to answer the door. Emily, Lindsey, Kelley and Megan were standing there. Anyone would tell you that I was a very affectionate person, I liked giving hugs, but I knew some people weren't huggers so I held my hand out for them to shake, but I was pulled into hugs instead. "I'm Y/n, it's nice to finally meet you."
More people trickled in as I sorted drinks for everyone. They were all friendly and seemed to not instantly hate me so that was a win. We made small talk until everyone had arrived and sat down to eat. I was asked so many questions about anything they could think of. From what I do, life in Spain, how Chris and I met, and what it was like living in the US. Christen had warned me that they would ask me a bunch of questions so it didn't surprise me. I didn't mind either, they were curious and I understood that. Once we finished eating, everyone went around saying what they were thankful for. I may have only been celebrating the holiday because of Christen, but it was nice to be around the people who made her the happiest. I would do anything to make sure she was happy.
When my turn came, I kissed the back of Christens hand, "Um, I'm thankful for my wife, she's been my number one supporter through everything."
"Wife?!?"
Christen laughed, "Oh, did I forget to mention that part?"
"You didn't invite us to your wedding?"
"We didn't invite anyone except Chris's parents."
"When?"
The girls all had mixtures of hurt and disappointment. Christen looked somewhat guilty in response to their expressions. I laced my fingers with Christens and spoke up in hopes of diffusing some of the tension, "It wasn't planned at all, I had proposed then a few nights later we were talking and just decided to elope. We never intended to hide it or anything."
---
I was sorting out dessert in the kitchen while Christen was in the living room with the girls. I could still hear their conversations, but was more focused on what I was doing. One conversation caught my attention though.
"I'm jealous Chris, that accent alone would make me fall in love with her."
"Don't even think about it, that's my wife. I'm not so secretly hoping she never loses it, I love it. Thankfully, she is regularly in contact with her Spanish speaking colleagues and I'm getting better with my Spanish, we plan to raise our children bilingual, so I don't think I have to worry about it too much." Even 3 years later, I couldn't get enough of Christen calling me her wife. I don't think that would ever change.
"Children?"
Christen didn't say anything for a second, so I came up to sit on the arm of the couch next to her. Christen was already nine weeks pregnant, no one knew yet and I knew she was hesitant to tell them incase something happened. It would affect her ability to play, but she had always wanted to carry, while I wasn't that fussed about it so I easily agreed to it, "We're planning for kids in the near future. We've been talking about it for a while, but now that I'm here permanently, we're looking into it more seriously."
"Yes! I can't wait for little Press's to be running around," Kelley exclaimed receiving nods of agreement from the rest of the girls. Christen watched with a small smile as they discussed what our kids would be like and fighting over who would be the favourite. "I'm Chris's favourite, therefore I'll be little Press's favourite."
I laughed knowing that Tobin was in fact her favourite and would be the godmother of our child. If she agreed of course, "It's Y/L/N now actually."
"Since when?"
"Since we got married, I just never made the changed it publicly seeing as we keep our relationship private."
---
I was pretty much cornered by Tobin, Kelley, Lindsey and Megan while Christen was distracted by the other girls. It was a little bit intimidating though I tried not to show it, "We were all a bit surprised that you two made it this long with the distance and everything, but I can see how you did. You are great together. I know you've been together for 10 years and everything, but if you ever hurt her, we will hurt you ten times worse."
I glanced at Christen, an involuntary smile appeared as I turned back to the girls staring at me expectantly, "You don't have to worry about that, I love her more than anything in this world. I wouldn't be who I am without her, I wouldn't be where I am without her. I couldn't imagine my life without her." Arms wrapped around my waist from behind as I felt my face heat up, knowing she had heard me talking about her, "I love you Chris."
"I love you too Y/n. For the record, right back at you with everything you just said," Christen whispered the last part in my ear making me smile widely and turn to kiss her softly. There were instant gagging sounds, making Christen pull away with a laugh. We spent the rest of the evening getting to know each other better then watching movies. It was a great evening and something I could get used to. The girls were awesome and definitely people I could see myself getting close to the more I was around them.

Villain Izuku X Shy Female Reader
A/N: Izuku is basically Shigaraki but, with more connections and power
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You love your husband to death you really do but, sometimes you wonder how did you end up being the wife of the most dangerous criminal in all of Asia? It was unheard of especially with your personality. You were the complete opposite of Izuku or his codename 'Deku". While he was cold, ruthless, murdered with no hesitation, and committed robbery, kidnappings, torture, and domestic violence you were docile and always brought the sweet side that no one except you knew existed. He used to keep you hidden and you used to believe it was because he was ashamed that he's the epitome of a villain and he ended up with such a soft-spoken, awkward, stuttering docile woman such as yourself. Well, you thought it wasn't going to last and he was going to kill you within the first week but, here you were seven years later with a ring on your finger watching your four-year-old twins and no stuttering problem. Yes. You gave Izuku children and he adored them just as much as he adored you.
"Mama." You turned to look at your girl Izumi who was born first. She was the spitting image of her father from the wild dark green hair to the red eyes and freckles however, she had your personality and was very docile. Her brother Kusan looked like you except he also had red eyes and he was a mix of both you and his father. He was quiet but was not hesitant in punching someone in the face if any of his daycare stories were anything to go by. Honestly, your children were almost polar opposites but, they complimented each other so well and they were both your husband and your own light
"Come here, baby." With zero hesitation she got up and climbed into your lap snuggling into your chest. She was your hugger and you were more than happy to indulge her. Kusan wasn't exactly a fan of hugs but never complained per se whenever you did initiate a hug or asked for one. He was going to grow up and be just like his dad. You felt your daughter snuggle into your chest more which meant she had something on her mind "What's the matter 'zumi?" She hugged tighter before sighing and pulling away a bit to look up at you
"Why is daddy always so busy?" You gave her a closed-off smile running your hand through her hair trying to tame her untameable curls. How were you supposed to go into depth to your four-year-old that her daddy was the strongest villain in Asia and he had a lot of shit to do to keep his family safe?
"Well a lot of people don't like daddy and in turn don't like us. He disappears a lot to protect us from those people who want to hurt us." You hoped to put her at ease and it seemed to work until Kusan spoke up
"What would happen if one of them got past him?" You looked at him not bothered by the question at all. He was only four and it was okay to be worried about daddy and those you love as well
"Well we always got your aunts and uncles but, if push comes to shove I'll protect the both of you with my life." You gave them both a very open grin and when you got an armful of your second child you weren't complaining. They knew you weren't lying. They remember somewhat of a man who was trying to kidnap them when they were two and before Izuku can activate one of his quirks you were on both of them their throats slashed in a blink of an eye and your babies in your arm the next second. Safe to say you almost had baby #3 and he asked to marry you again. You smiled softly at the memory and as you looked down at their relaxed and peaceful faces you knew you'll kill a million people if it meant keeping them safe.
"I see that they're asleep." If you weren't so used to your husband popping up out of nowhere you would have jumped out of your skin. However, he was Izuku the man you've known for 10 years and married to for 7 so there wasn't much that he could scare you with.
"Yeah, Izumi was asking me why you're always so busy and I told them that you're just making sure we are safe. I made a promise too that if there comes a time you don't make it I'll protect them for life." He simply stared before giving you that private smile that he only lets you see. It wasn't the malicious grin or smirk, the angry scowl, grimace, frown, or gritted teeth. No this was a genuine smile that can full anyone into believing he was one of the good guys. It was fine though with you. Let them be fooled it was kind of funny when they thought he was some sort of bad boy but, he turns out to be more than they bargained for.
"That's something that doesn't need to be worried about. I'll always be there even when I'm not." He made his way over to you giving his twins a kiss before planting a soft one on your lips. It was always so nice when he was like this. It was moments like this that made you forget that every hero on the continent was looking for him, that other villains wanted his head served on a silver platter, and that Deku wasn't used as scary stories to straighten out unruly kids. No. He was simply Izuku a man who got the short end of the stick time and time again when he was a kid and the death of his mother is what finally made him snap. You pulled away from the kiss giving him a genuine smile which earned you a pat on the cheek "Put them in the playpen and follow me." You did as told getting up carefully and placing your sleeping children into the playpen watching in amusement as they rolled over and clung to each other.
"They're going to be a force to be reckoned with one day." You heard Izuku grunt in agreement behind you feeling his hand slip into yours and pull you toward wherever the two of you were going. You had time to mull over a lot of things but, one thing always stayed the same. There was no place you would rather be.
