rdr2 boys reacting to making their s/o flinch in a fight
boys: arthur, john, javier, micah, sean
✥﹤┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈﹥✥
arthur
oh my god he feels awful
the argument wasn't even that serious
you were just explaining you were worried about him bc he's been getting into more fights than usual
and this grumpy bear snaps at u
the whole camp is silent as the golden couple argues, but when it goes silent people begin to worry
he had shouted something at you, and he freezes up when you flinch back
"oh, darling- i..." he's stuck
is he really that scary?
he feels terrible, especially if you start crying
if you let him he'll hug you tightly, but if you don't want to be around him in the moment he'll sleep completely separate
showers you in apologies and affections
"i'm so sorry, sugar. i'd never lay a hand on you, you know that right?"
spoils you for the next few days with extra portions and will buy you nice things bc his love language is gifts and acts of service <3
smooches too but thats for when ur both in private
-
john
it makes him even more mad
but not at you, definitely not at you
he's mad at himself for coming off so aggressively
he loves you more than himself and the fact you thought he'd raise a hand to you made him feel terrible
bc he doesn't know how to deal with anger, he storms off leaving you in a puddle of tears
he sleeps completely separate to deal with his self loathing, will snap at everyone else but he tries to avoid you thinking you hate him
after a few days he'll approach you with your favourite snacks, a bouquet of flowers and a mumbled apology
please just hug this boy and assure him that you love him bc he feels like he can't live with himself now
hugs you soo tightly
the two of you will end up in bed with him lay on top of you as he tells you stories about his past and how much he loves you
assures you that he'll never hurt you, gives you gentle kisses and a promise that he'll do all your chores for the rest of the week
i love this wolf man sm
-
javier
jesus christ,,, arguments with him are so rare
it's probably about his safety lets be honest
he steps forward, and you flinch back
freezes, blinks at you but goes into protective baby mode
hugs you so tightly, practically scoops you up
even if you don't want him too he's gonna hold you until he feels better
"i'm so sorry, mi vida. i would never try to intimidate you."
kisses, a lot of them
will not let you lift a finger or apologise for the rest of the evening, he will spoil you
anyone trying to give you shit gets an earful and shooed away
goes into town and brings you back anything you want, give him a list and he'll bring back more
confesses all his affections to you in spanish
"te amo, mi amor."
-
micah
worsens the entire argument
he mocks you, for sure
"oh, now you're scared of the big bad micah bell?"
both of you end up storming off
he doesn't plan on apologising, he's too prideful for that
but,,, he does feel terrible
compares himself to his father, and ends up drowning his misery in alcohol
hosea smacks some sense into him, and after getting an earful (and a punch) micah finds you
he asks if you've got a minute, but if you try to walk away he'll snag your arm and ask politely
"look, 'm sorry doll."
its a quiet yet heartfelt apology
makes it up to you through touchy love
doesn't take his hands off you at all
you wanna sit at the campfire and listen to sean's rambles? well, he's got a spare seat for you (his lap)
you wanna chop vegetables for pearson? he's stood behind you, cuddling into you and kissing your neck
you're in for one hell of a night of make up sex btw
-
sean
you're probably arguing about his alcohol problem (which he doesn't take kindly bc he doesn't understand what the problem is at first)
"what's your problem? it's just a drink!"
now, arguments with sean aren't ever that serious, he's too much of a joker to actually hurt your feelings
but,,, he's drunk rn
he doesn't think you're that upset over his health and so he goes to grab your cheek affectionately
doesn't get why you flinched away, and plays it off awkwardly
when he wakes up with a headache he's confused as to why you're not lay with him like usual
is even more confused when you avoid him
eventually he gets stressed and corners you for answers and when you explain his heart fucking shatters
"oh, god- darlin' no, i would never!"
hugs- very tight hugs
and a lot of kisses too
makes you stay with him so he can pamper you
you have to sit in his lap
now he's sober, he listens to your concerns seriously and promises to drink more responsibly

(push your heart, and pull away); - III
tom holland x female!reader
Tumblr media
summary for series: you've got yourself in a predicament that involves fake dating the star employee of your company (who you might have feelings for), all to convince your family that you're finally happy, after what happened with your last shot at love. can you, the CEO of a booming business, your family's darling daughter pull off the biggest lie you've ever told? [inspired by and based loosely on The Spanish Love Deception by Elena Armas.]
tags and warnings: female reader, you have a brother, romance tropes, denial, banter, sexual tension, swearing.
a/n: 2.6k words // I am really excited for what I have planned for this series and I only hope I can translate it into my writing. sorry it's a slow burn but I promise the good stuff will be satisfying when it does come. (innuendo intended)
catch up: chapter one / chapter two
CHAPTER III
For an incredibly numbing moment, you thought Tom was not going to show up.
Maybe he had finally come to his senses and realised how god-awful this plan was. Maybe you should just call in sick too and not attend this wedding altogether.
You had already checked in and sure, boarding was still a good forty-five minutes away but it was still less than an hour and.. where the hell was Tom? A wave of cold panic swept down your back. The very thought of doing this alone, and worse— showing up without the boyfriend you had promised would come— made your anxiety spike. It wasn’t too late to make a break for it.
Get a grip, Y/N. This was your brother’s wedding. You couldn’t not go.
You bounced your foot in your seat, gaze falling onto the staircase that led to the waiting area once more. Hoping, no, desperately praying that Tom would show up.
C’mon, c’mon.
Switching on your phone again, you checked to see if you had correctly sent him his flight details. Of course, you had. You always double-checked everything and had discussed it at the office too.
Your chest started to cave in as you watched the minutes go by on the large digital clock at the terminal. You couldn’t do this, not without him, you thought, and then— God, when had you become such a wimp?
16:00, the clock beeped. What if he was stuck in traffic? Fuck.
You didn't want to be overbearing so you hadn't called or texted him all evening but as your flight showed up in the tabular list displayed on the terminal screen— it was going to land ten minutes early— you panicked and sent him a text.
Hey, where are you?
You watched as the text turned from 'Sent' to 'Delivered' to 'Read' in 20 seconds.
Three dots showed up at the bottom of the screen, and then a second later—
Look up.
And there he was, a bag on his arm and a backpack slung across his shoulder, standing at the top of the staircase, smiling. He was dressed in dark jeans, a denim jacket thrown over a pink hoodie, topped off with a black cap perched on his dark curls. If the word boyfriend could be a person, Tom would be it.
He started to make his way towards you.
The overjoyed relief that flushed through you at the sight of him was to be blamed for what you did next. You stood up hastily and threw yourself at him, meeting him halfway and tackling him in a bear hug.
He came.
“Oomph,” he mumbled, as he was thrown off-balance but caught you just fine, arms encircling your waist hesitantly. You buried your head in his shoulder, silently thanking whoever was up there for not letting you down.
"You came," you said, breath coming out shakier than you had expected.
“I’m here,” he said softly, his breath warm in your ear. You could’ve melted right there in his arms. He squeezed your waist, and you were suddenly aware of how his hard chest was pressing against your own, how he smelled like freshly ironed clothes and how inappropriate this probably was.
You released him with a clearing of your throat. He seemed flustered too as he rubbed his neck hard, quickly ducking to retrieve his backpack that had fallen to the floor when you had tackled him.
"Of course, I came," he said again, once you had both got your bearings. He reached for your arm. You stilled as he gave your elbow a friendly squeeze and then stepped back. "I made a promise, L/N," eyes gazing steadfastly into your own.
And for the second time that week, you could’ve almost cried. He sounded so sincere. And he had come. He hadn’t bailed. You could’ve hugged him again— which was stupid, but you really wanted to. Instead, you chose to shoot him a grateful smile.
"Uh, we should get going," he said, breaking up the awkwardness that had begun to simmer, gesturing at the screen behind you. Boarding had begun.
He watched as you rushed to pick up your bags.
"You have four suitcases on you."
You turned to look at him. "And?"
"We're only staying for five days, yeah?" he asked.
You stared at him.
"I'm a grooms-woman, I have a lot of outfits to pack, okay? Did you know I had to pack five pairs of heels?"
Tom held up his hands but he was chuckling, "Okay, okay, tiger, no need to get defensive. You do you," You smiled a little, there was room to breathe again. You were afraid you had blown it with the hug.
He offered to take two of the bags off your back, as you made your way to the counter.
"Bloody hell, woman," he called after you, shouldering the bags himself, "—what, have you got rocks in these?"
Tumblr media
"Aunty Pam is—" you began.
“Aunty Pam likes to talk a lot and is always in everybody’s business. You don’t quite like her,” Tom said nonchalantly.
You narrowed your eyes at him. “Uncle Phil—”
“Married to Aunty Pam and keeps to himself mostly, but loves his wife a lot. Oh and, they have a kid, your cousin — name’s not important — who is always on a cruise somewhere.”
You raised your eyebrows. “What about my twice removed cousin, Fluer?”
Tom picked up a second pastry that the kindly flight attendant had bought in, thanks to the first-class perks. "She is the one with a poodle and a half-French accent, from the time she spent in France, innit? We like her. Yeah," he said, wolfing it down in one go.
Okay, you were thoroughly impressed, and judging by the slight smirk forming on Tom’s face, weren’t doing a good job of hiding it. Tom always gave his hundred per cent when it came to his work and maybe, that translated to other things in his life too. Still, you were in awe.
“Don’t seem so surprised, didn’t you want me to remember these things?’
“I…yeah, no, I did,” you said lamely. You’d told him about your family tree two days ago— and just the once. What other superpowers was this man hiding?
Tom threw you another cocky grin.
“Then maybe pick your jaw off the floor, babe.”
The gall. You should have been shocked at it, but you weren’t.
Instead, it lit something in you— that bright spark you had buried before. The spark, no longer a spark, but a small fire. If this is what Tom was like outside of work, you couldn’t be prepared for what was coming. The thought terrified you but also thrilled you. You found yourself looking forward to seeing this plan unfold, eager to know what Tom brought to the table as a boyfriend. He had called you babe. The nickname alone made your heart race.
“Aren’t you going to ask about me?” Tom asked an hour later, as you sipped the champagne that the attendant had bought. You needed alcohol if you were going to get through this thirteen-hour flight with a colleague who was messing with your head.
"What will you say when somebody asks you what your boyfriend's favourite color is?"
You looked at him, trying hard to not roll your eyes.
“Why did you sign up to be a part of something so crazy?”
Tom looked away for a moment, sighing. “I told you, L/N. I just thought it seemed like fate.”
You weren’t really satisfied with that answer, not even the first time around. Tom was a kind person, sure, but even this seemed too much for any sane person to agree to.
“Why did you lie?” he asked, turning to face you.
You averted your eyes. You were not sure if you wanted to go down that path, think about the heartbreak and pain that came with it. Especially with the alcohol bubbling in your system.
“You can trust me, you know,” Tom said gently.
You couldn’t bring yourself to look at him.
“My family… they pester me a lot about it. Ever since...," You took a shaky breath. "I just didn’t want to show up alone.”
You had barely offered him any information but something seemed to click in Tom’s eyes. Maybe he didn’t know the whole truth but he was getting close.
“My favourite colour is green,” Tom said after a while, finishing up the last of his drink. He hadn’t had much, but the tiniest hint of red suffused his cheeks.
“I know,” you said, taking a swig of your drink and looking at him through the glass. You were thankful for the change of subject.
He cocked an eyebrow at you.
“I —uh— you wear it to the office a lot. You use it in a lot of presentations and it’s the colour of Joanna’s eyes. So I assumed.”
Tom reared back at your words. “What?!”
Shit. Shit. You should’ve known better than to drink this much. Alcohol made your filters disappear into thin air.
“I just uh— notice things. Have to look out for my employees.”
Nice save, Y/N.
“No, the part about Joanna—” Tom said, blinking fast. “What?”
“...It’s the colour of Joanna’s eyes,” you mumbled sheepishly, looking anywhere but at Tom.
“And why would that matter?”
Fuck, this parachute was a knapsack. You wished you could just jump out of the plane right about now.
“Oh, don’t make me spell it out, Holland.”
Tom continued to look at you like you’d grown a second head.
“I don’t like Joanna like that. I don’t know where you heard that.”
You hadn’t heard it from anyone. Nobody in the office thought this except you. Sure, the only basis for this theory of yours was that you had seen Joanna and Tom walking down the street after office hours together once but you didn’t want Tom to know that, so you shut up.
“Good to know that even our boss isn’t above high-school gossip,” Tom muttered when you didn’t respond.
Now it was your turn to look offended. “Hey! I’m human too, you know?”
“Hardly seems fair that you lot should have all the fun,” you added, taking another swig of the sparkling drink. You should stop drinking.
“Gossip is fun?”
“Oh, so you’re better? You haven’t got any juicy stories about your boss to share with the class?” you were beginning to slur your words and that put a cork in the bottle. Literally.
“I am not at liberty to share,” Tom said.
“Hypocrite,” you muttered.
“You’re adorable when you’re drunk,” Tom retorted, one corner of his mouth curling.
Cheeky. You hoped you didn’t look too ruffled by his words.
‘I’m only slightly tipsy,” you sighed as you turned your attention to the attendant who had strolled by your seat.
“Do you need anything, madam?”
“Just water,” you said, suddenly feeling your throat parch up.
You turned to look at Tom, who was smiling fondly. Your stomach did a little flip.
“Anything else, baby?” you asked him, suddenly feeling bold in front of the attendant and taking your opportunity to get back at him for the brazen 'babe'. If you were going to be a girlfriend, you were going to commit to it. How fast the walls disappeared when you were inebriated.
Tom did a double-take at the word. His cheeks flushed red and his eyes widened. You’d never seen him this flustered before. You were tipsy enough to admit that you liked it. Liked calling him that and liked watching his reaction.
He was quick to regain his composure, however.
“No, thank you,” he told the attendant, dismissing her.
He looked back at you then, the brown in his eyes darkening. Your heartbeat surged, cheeks heating as he continued to stare at you. Something ticked in his jaw and it went straight to your core. Thoughts that you wouldn't be caught dead having sober, flooded your mind. Fuck. Fuck. He watched you, jaw taut, like he was rethinking some things.
You could only exhale when he looked away.
Maybe you had crossed a line but you realised, despite the alcohol, you didn’t really care. In fact, it made you more curious. All today had shown you was that there was a side of Tom you hadn’t seen. It was a side that brought out a different you too.
You weren’t sure if that boded well for the plan.
Or for you.
Tumblr media
The trip to the baggage claim was a bleary-eyed one. You had had enough alcohol to get a mild headache and it was far too early when the plane landed. You counted six bags and made your way outside, Tom close behind you.
You hadn’t said anything to him all morning except for a quick greeting and that your brother was sending a car to get you. Tom had simply nodded in response.
The drive to the hotel was just as quiet.
The Anthea stood tall in the white sand, looking more like a monument than it did a hotel. The sun was starting to come up over the waters of Santorini, and as tired as you were, the sight from where you stood outside the hotel took your breath away. The sparkling blue waters were streaked with tendrils of gold and red, coming up the shore in tiny waves.
“It’s beautiful,” Tom’s voice came from beside you. He was standing close, after having brought out the luggage from the car.
You looked back at him, some of the sunlight reflected in his eyes, making them seem like pools of gold.
“Sorry if yesterday was too much,” you said, hoping he'd understand what you were getting at. You didn't feel sorry because you had absolutely enjoyed it...but you were still his boss.
Tom’s expression softened, some of his tiredness evaporating. “Hey, we’re just playing our parts. I understand, L/N,” he said.
Just playing our parts. That made your stomach sink.
“Y/N!” someone called from behind you just then and you turned, recognising the figure descending the steps of the hotel even before you saw him.
You looked back at Tom, making up your mind. You were going to do this. You’d deal with your… feelings later, but right now you had a plan to execute.
"Come on, pretend boyfriend, time to meet my brother."

thank you thank you so much ur so sweet and of course! here you go and i hope you like it :) absolutely loved writing for latina!reader
Awards Season (latina!reader)
---------------------------------------------------------------
“Here to present the award for Best Actress in a Leading Role, please welcome Meryl Streep!” the host announced. A roar came from the audience at the mention of her name, the very acclaimed actress welcoming the attention and making her way to the microphone.
“Oh, stop it” she said and waved them away, earning a laugh and even more cheering from the theatre. “If I’m honest, I really considered not presenting this award because it breaks me inside to give the Oscar to someone else when it’s rightfully mine” she said in a funny, raspy evil voice, resembling a witch, “But you know, sharing is caring or whatever. Alright let’s get to it.” she continued dejectedly, still joking.
“This year, we have been blessed with beautiful films and, along with them, incredible performances from beautiful and talented actresses. Viola Davis, your abilities to embody different characters and raise awareness to ongoing issues in society has always amazed us, and it does once again in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”, Meryl announced, the camera going to Viola who was sitting about 10 seats to my left, the audience (including me) applauding and praising her. Literally all of her performances are incredible.
Could I still believe I was here? Definitely not, and not any time soon. From small skits to my big break with Tom Holland in a stupid rom-com that I didn’t even want to make, to now. Tom knows it’s nothing against him, it’s just that I haven’t learned to appreciate romantic comedies the way he has, but the thing I loved most from doing it was finishing it with Tom. He had become such an important person in my life since that moment, what with guiding me through the newfound world of fame and being there for me when I joined the Marvel franchise, it was just more than I could ever dream of. Now I sit here at the freaking Oscars, with Tom Holland as my date, and having done one of the greatest films ever, nothing could keep the smile off my face. Or the nerves.
My leg kept bouncing up and down, a nervous action I often did and one that the guy beside me had caught on to real quick when we first met. His warm hand gently squeezed my thigh, and I turned to look at him a little surprised.
“Hey, it’s okay” he softly said, his gaze soft and comforting.
“I didn’t even realize I was doing it” I answered in the same tone, whispering a thank you and letting my hand rest on top of his, weirdly interlocking our fingers.
Meryl turned to where Olivia Colman was sitting, “Your Majesty,” she started, referencing her portrayals of royalty and causing her to chuckle, “your moving performances have always left us wanting more, and I’m sure that is what I and everyone felt when we saw you in The Father” a big smile broke out on her face, and cheering ensued once more for our queen, or at least one of mine.
“Aging is some we all go through...unfortunately,” Meryl uttered into the mic, touching up her almost white hair, “and you, Cynthia Erivo, made us relate to your character this way with your brilliant acting in Reaching 39″, that woman is simply amazing, I thought as I clapped and cheered with the audience.
“My dear Kate,” the camera panned to Kate Winslet, who just stared fondly at the woman on the stage, “watching you grow as an actress has been one of the pleasures of my life and you reach new heights both professionally and literally in Misdemeanors”, she is such an icon, oh my.
Finally, Meryl Streep turned to look at me in the front row with a grin on her face, and I quickly got into “camera mode”, as I like to call it. I sat up straighter, looking at her with gentle eyes and smile.
“Señorita Y/N Y/L,” she started with the heavily accented Spanish word for Ms., “with your entrance into the world of filmmaking, you have set new expectations for all of us to reach. Even though this is your first nomination, I feel in my heart it won’t be the last, and we can’t wait to see more of you like we saw with your extraordinary performance in Paraíso” she finished, bringing a big smile to my face at her words. Turning to the camera, I became a bit shy and gave a small wave, feeling Tom squeeze my hand in comfort and another hand on my shoulder from behind. I turned to see Salma Hayek, one of my co-stars in the film, who gave me a strong nod and smile, loudly saying “Eso!” as a cheer for me.
“And the Oscar goes too...” ayyyyy no ay no que nervios que nervios que nervios me muero- all of this going through my head repeatedly but having to put on a smile and a calm façade for the camera was exhausting. Tranquila, tranquila, si no ganas está bien igual solo el hecho de estar aquí ya es lo más-
“Y/N Y/L, Paraíso!” Meryl announced, and all I heard were screams and loud clapping from around me.
Shocked, I looked up with wide eyes and my jaw going slack a little. I felt a buzz fill my body and the idol on the stage beckoned me up, when I realized I hadn’t moved. I slowly stood up and instantly turned to Tom who quickly pulled me into his arms with a strong hug and whispering in my year, “I knew it! I knew you would do it darling. I’m so so proud of you babe, go get your award!” not giving me a chance to answer as he gave me a quick kiss and turned me around in the direction of the stage. Still in a bit of a daze, I didn’t see Salma, Eugenio (Derbez), and Benicio (del Toro) make their way to me, ambushing me in a group hug as they started jumping around and sort of with me, chanting “EH! EH! EH!” like Latinos at a party and causing me to laugh and come back to my senses. I hugged them all and continued to the stairs, stopping to hug my directors Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuarón.
I lifted my dress as I ascended the steps, and in true nervous fashion, stumbled and almost face planted in front of thousands of people.
“Uy, mierda” I chuckled to myself, and accepted the help of none other than Chris Evans who lent his arm for the remaining steps. I thanked him with a smile and after his Congrats!, I made my way to Meryl who held the famous award in her hands. She handed it to me and pulled me into her embrace, saying “Beautiful job, sweetheart, you’re amazing”, and all I could answer was “Oh my, thank you so much, you’re the amazing one”, sharing a laugh with her and standing in front of the mic.
I looked out into the audience, who were still giving me a standing ovation. Almost like a camera in my head, I tried to ingrain this moment in my mind and took a deep breath, starting my speech.
“God, I really hope I don’t forget any words in English right now” I said with a breathless laugh, inciting one from the people below me. “Thank you so much. Thank you to...um...so many people. To the Academy for this great, great honor. To my fellow nominees for inspiring me every single day. Being in the same room as you is already insane, let alone being nominated with you, it’s just- it’s truly out of this world. Viola, Olivia, Kate, Cynthia, you are my literal idols and if I could physically cut this Oscar into five pieces,” I said as I made a motion of cutting the award and humoured the audience, “I would give a piece to all of you. Um, thank you to my team, my agent, Victoria, te adoro y te agradezco for believing in me and helping me live out my dream. Sorry, I’m probably gonna switch between languages during this.” I said with a laugh.
“Paraíso was a project that, for me, came out of nowhere. But for my extraordinary directors los señores Guillermo del Toro and Alfonso Cuarón, it was a life’s work so to you, gracias por darme la oportunidad de darle vida a Marielos and for giving me the experience of a lifetime. Salma, Eugenio, Benicio, Gael, and all the cast and crew, thank you for becoming my second family and supporting me every step of the way. It has been my honor to work with you” I said with a hand on my chest, showing that I was speaking from my heart and smiling at the kisses and cheers sent to me from them, hearing a crazed Te amamos! from Eugenio. It eased the tension in my body which I was incredibly thankful for.
“I also want to thank-” I stopped, getting a little choked up, “ha, sorry, it’s my family that couldn’t be here” I said, a wave of claps and cheering in comfort came from the audience. Quickly composing myself, I continued, “Ya, okay. All the way back home, lo hice! Familia, les dije que no les iba a agradecer si me ganaba un Oscar algún día por no creer en mi y hoy es ese día, pero no me lo perdonaría si no les agradezco. Gracias por apoyarme a pesar de que yo sé que les dio un ataque que quisiera ser actriz. Gracias por siempre estar ahí para mi, por quererme incondicionalmente y por enseñarme que trabajando duro todo se puede lograr. Los amo infinitamente.” I finished, with tears threatening to roll down my eyes. I tilted my head to the sky to prevent them from falling, and with a deep breath I turned to Tom who had his hands in a prayer stance while looking intently at me, the same smile from before still gracing his face.
“Tommy...” I started, and the audience audibly awed at the nickname, “Oh, you don’t even know what I’m gonna say to him” I said with narrowed eyes, but my gaze found my love once more.
“Thank you so much for being my rock ever since we met. I’m beyond thankful for you and all you do for me, baby. You make me the happiest and thank you for pushing me to do things that scare me. For being there for me in case I fall and for being my person. Te amo, amor.” I blowed him a kiss which he caught and jokingly used to wipe his tears, making me and the other celebrities laugh.
Please wrap up, I read from the screen, and let out and “Ay, perdón! I gotta wrap up sorry sorry” hurriedly finishing up my speech.
“Lastly, this award goes out to all the Latina girls out there with big dreams. Nunca se den por vencidas. No dejen que nadie les diga que no porque de que se puede, se puede. Querer es poder! I love you guys, my fans oh my gosh, thank you thank you, gracias!” I rushed out, raising the award to the air with one last big smile as Meryl guided me backstage to answer some questions. Just before I was off sight, I turned and looked out to the stage once more.
Lo logré...

Zoe Week; Day 6-A Night Off
AKA Comfort Zoe Night
So, this was the first prompt I actually wrote cause it spoke the most to me (the fluffy potential) but then the muses decided to be difficult and I struggled with it until like 2 days before Zoe Week began. I also wound up scrapping my partial first draft and re-writing the first bit to be slightly based off some wonderful Teny art because I realized it could still fic with my idea! (Gotta love great art that inspires) (The art in question is those wonderful pics of Zoe and Douxie as he meets her after a shift at Hextech and then precedes to be a little shit) Anyway, I hope you all enjoy this one and hopefully it doesn’t end too abruptly, like I said the muses wanted to be difficult with this one.
AO3
~*~*~*~*~*~
The night was clear and cool, something that would usually bring calm to the pink haired witch as she walked home from another busy day at Hex-Tech but not tonight. The day had been absolutely brutal. First she'd had the early shift, which was never fun, then she'd been assigned to the bar for almost the entirety of her shift which meant dealing with all sorts of customers. The irritable, the entitled, the ones that just wouldn't listen, it had almost driven her insane by the time her lunch break arrived. It was only after slurping down a cup of noodles and sending a curse heavy text on how crappy her day had been so far to Douxie that she got the wonderful news that she had to work a double shift. She was so going to curse Dave the next time she saw him, she always got his shifts whenever he didn't come in. And of course that extra shift came with, you guessed it, more bar duty! So Zoe had dealt with double the awful customers! Including two absolute Karen's. Why her managers kept putting her in the front when her talents lay better with the tech itself, she'd never understand.
At least she was finally off for the weekend...
Coming around the last corner before her apartment building, she spied her longtime partner and lover, Hisirdoux, leaning against the chain-link fence, waiting for her. She paused for a moment, taking in the rare relaxed air around him and admiring his bare biceps for a moment before sighing, knowing why he was waiting for her. And usually she'd be ready to go hunt Niffins and take on whatever else they might encounter on a Friday night, especially after the day she had, but she was too beat to do anything more. So shifting her bag in her grip, she made her way closer to the wizard, not looking forward to canceling their plans.
“Ah! The fair lady approaches!” He exclaimed, noticing her first with a smirk before his face soften, “Rough day, Love?”
“Uuugg!! You have no idea!!” She groaned, knowing her text had said as much but now she could rant in person about just how bad it actually was. Stopping next to him, she ran her fingers through her hair before rubbing at her temples, trying to push down the migraine that had been brewing since two o'clock, “Not only did fuckin' Dave not come in, we had two, Two, Karen's come in! I was almost certain we'd have a third but thankfully her husband calmed her down. Of course then that entitled Spanish teacher had to come in, again, who, of course, I had to deal with! Not to mention all the other sorts that came in today... And! Because the universe's law apparently decided to hate me today, someone calls right before closing!” She groaned again, feeling annoyed anew rather than relieved after her rant. “Anyway, as much as I'd like to go Niffin hunting, I'm just too beat-!”
Distracted as she was with her rant, the hedge-witch hadn't noticed Douxie's arm sneaking around her before he wrapped it around her shoulder and laid a kiss on her head. He hummed into her hair, nuzzling her softly, “I'm so sorry your day sucked, Darling.”
“Yeah, well...” Zoe felt her cheeks heat up, sinking into the hug he started to give her and feeling most of the fight leave her suddenly. You'd think after almost five hundred years of being together romantically this sap wouldn't cause such a reaction but you'd be wrong. “It's over now, I guess...And I have the weekend off thankfully.”
“That you do~” Douxie sang into her ear before suddenly rubbing his hand over her head vigorously and messing up her hair, “And I'm sure you'll feel much better after a good nights sleep!!”
“Aaarrgggg!!!” Zoe cried out in surprise and anger, “Hisirdoux!!” She pushed him away, glaring at his grin before marching away, “Jerk! Why do I like you again?!”
“Because without me and Arch your life would be dreadfully boring~?”
She huffed and flattened down her hair, “Hardly.” She then glared over her shoulder, “You are so sleeping on the couch tonight, or better yet, your own apartment when you get done.” She honestly wondered why she put up with his antics.
Douxie merely laughed some more, catching up to her and wrapping his arm around her waist, “Actually, Love, I've decided we're all taking the night off.” When she looked up at him with a disbelieving look he responded, “Really! Wards are already in place around town, so if there's any trouble, Arch and I can go take care of it but otherwise...” The wizard shrugged, “We're all off for the night and you have a little surprise waiting for you~”
“A surprise? Really?” She glared up at him, still annoyed, “I doubt whatever it is will make up for that stunt you just did...”
“I think it will~!” He sang.
Zoe huffed and crossed her arms, muttering a 'whatever' and allowing him to escort her to her apartment building and up to her home. Entering, she dropped her bag and kicked her shoes off by the door, striding over to where Archie was laying on the back of the couch and greeting the familiar with a chin scratch. Glancing around she saw nothing out of the ordinary with the exception that her sink was now empty of the few dishes she'd left there. If that was her so called 'surprise' than it was going to take a lot more than him doing her dishes for her to calm down from that surprise noogie. Lifting an eyebrow at the wizard, silently asking just what exactly he had planned, she watched him grin again before he offered up his arm to her.
“Come with me, Milady~ Your surprise awaits~”
Looking back down at Archie, the black cat merely stretched and stated, “I've been sworn to secrecy.”
Right, of course. Rolling her eyes, the pink hair witch allowed Douxie to guide her down her own hallway, stopping in front of the bathroom. Usually she could sniff out an idea on what he liked to surprise her with but tonight between her exhaustion and the fact that she was still a little annoyed with him, made her question just what he could've set up in the bathroom of all things.
Grinning down at her, Douxie gently pushed the door open and snapped his fingers. A dozen candles lit with the small pulse of magic, illuminating the simple space with a soft orange light and revealing the steaming, bubble filled bath. The light aura of blue magic indicated a warming spell, keeping it the perfect temperature for when she got home. Zoe let out a soft breath, feeling most of her annoyance leave, and leaned against him, letting him wrap his arms around her and nuzzle the top of her head. Trust this wonderful sap to fix her up something like this after she'd rough day at work. Sometimes Zoe wondered just what she did to have someone like Hisirdoux Casperan in her life but she certainly wasn't going to be ungrateful about it. She was even willing to let the whole noogie thing go...mostly.
“I want you to know I don't completely forgive you for that stunt outside but this...is a nice surprise.” She could even make out the light scents of tangerine and patchouli wafting from some of the candles. “And you can't always get away with something like that either.”
He chuckled low, placing a soft kiss on her head, “Of course, Love~” He carefully stepped back, bowing in an exaggerated manner as he gestured to the bathroom, “Now, do please enjoy, Milady, and once you're are done a meal will be ready for you.”
She snorted, “You can't cook.”
He clicked a pair of finger guns at her, “No but I can work an oven!” He then left her to her own devices with a final grin.
Zoe rolled her eyes and shook her head fondly. Gods he was a dork.
~*~*~*~
Twenty minutes later found Zoe happily relaxing in her bath, feeling better after the day she'd had, eyes closed as she listened the soft tunes playing from her small radio. She had to hand it to Douxie, he had thought of everything when setting all this up. The candles were the right amount of light, the radio was already set to play and the bath was filled with her favorite brand of bubble bath. There had even been a rolled up towel for behind her head as she leaned back in the tub. Humming along softly to the music, Zoe only wished for one last thing to make this perfect.
As if summoned by her thoughts, the door opened slowly just enough to allow a wine glass surrounded by blue magic to float in. Laughing lightly, she grabbed it out of the air, taking a sip before calling out, “Thank you but you could've given me it in person.”
“A gentleman never intrudes on a lady.” Was her response before she was left alone again to enjoy her bath.
~*~*~*~
Zoe eventually emerged, having stayed long enough for her fingers to prune slightly and for the water to grow cold, plus her stomach kept protesting the lack of food. So she made her way into the living room wrapped in one of Douxie's old bad shirts and a hoodie she had stolen, breathing in the scent of a freshly cooked frozen pizza. She was passed a plate with two large slices of her favorite kind, three meat with extra mushrooms, and had her glass refilled before being pointed over to go recline on the couch. Shaking her head, she followed the silent order and sat down, digging in before her boys were settled. Archie was passed a plate of salmon and sardines before Douxie joined her, his own plate balanced in a hand.
“So, what does the lady wish to watch tonight?” He asked, reaching for the remote and flipping through channels.
“Hmm...” The pinkette hummed, tucking her knees under her before taking a large bite of her pizza, “Don't really care. Just find something we can zone out to or make fun of.”
“As you wish~”
“Oh gods, no! Do not put that movie on!” She exclaimed, “I will kick you out if you do!”
Douxie laughed, almost spilling his dinner, “Very well! Not in the mood for it tonight.” He continued to chuckle as he flipped through more choices before settling on another horribly inaccurate film of a time they've lived through.
Later, once food was eaten and their movie had changed to something else, Zoe was snuggled against Douxie's side, on the verge of sleep. Archie was a ball of purring warmth on her lap and Douxie kept running soothing circles on her arm as she listened to his heartbeat. The witch was once again grateful to have these two in her life, not knowing just where she'd be without them. They made the bad days better. Wither it was helping her with a sprained ankle from running from goblins, helping her fight of a demon hellbent on kidnapping all the girls in a village or having to deal with crappy customers all day, they were always there beside her. Even if Douxie loved to take cheep shots that ultimately pissed her off even more. Zoe knew she'd always forgive him. And so, full, relaxed and loved, she fell asleep.
~*~*~*~*~*~
Aaahhh, Zoe loves her dork~ And gotta love cheesy endings lol! Hope you enjoyed and aahh!! Zoe week is almost over!

Chapter Fourteen - Beware of The City
It seemed like good looks ran in the family, Regulus’ face was alight with joy, happiness burning in his eyes as he met his niece and nephew, it was the first time that you’d brought them to see him. He was looking quite well, he’d been so gravely injured that James wouldn’t allow anyone to see him – not even Sirius – he was worried that visitors would make Regulus’ condition worse.
As soon as James deemed Regulus fit enough to see people, you and Sirius were there in a flash, Sirius had barely left his side and you were proud of how much of a good brother Sirius was. Sirius grinned up at you, almost turning your legs to jelly in the process, and you combed your fingers through his inky black hair that was beginning to get long again and he sweetly pressed his lips against your cheek.
“Elena and Johnathan really are so beautiful, Y/N, they obviously take after you in that respect,” he smirked, glancing over at his older brother.
Instead of acting offended, Sirius simply inclined his head in a nod, “they certainly do take after their beautiful mother,” he cupped your cheek as he turned to look at you. There was so much adoration and love swimming in his eyes that butterflies fluttered in the pit of your stomach as your breath was momentarily stolen away. God, you loved him so much, every day you were thankful for him.
Blushing, you averted your eyes to the grey stone floor, “God, if you two keep saying things like that then I’m afraid my head will get so large that it won’t even be able to fit through that door,” you giggled, gesturing to the golden arched doorway behind you. The two brothers laughed as Sirius kissed along your knuckles, lacing his fingers through yours.
The thud of hesitant footsteps against the stone floor captured your attention and you saw the easy smile slide of Sirius’ face and it drained of colour. Almost at once, the atmosphere in the room switched from something that was very happy and light, to something stifling and tense. You turned around to see James lingering in the doorway, he shot an apologetic look at Regulus and you could feel Sirius tense behind you, it was time.
“I’m so sorry to break this up, but the court is assembled.”
Regulus nodded as he forced a smile at you and Sirius as he passed the twins back to you, “you don’t have to do this, Reg,” Sirius sighed and you could hear the pain in his voice, you wished that you could take it all away.
“Sirius is right, Reg.”
Regulus shook his head as he got out of bed, wincing as he did so, rejecting Sirius’ silent offer to help, “I have to, the court needs to know, I’ll be fine, lo prometo,” he assured you in Spanish, forcing out a tight smile. He was much too noble. You and Sirius both exchanged a worried glance as you followed Regulus out of the chambers that he was currently residing in.
The atmosphere in The Throne Room was thick and the tension was only building as a hushed whisper fell across the room. Lucius Malfoy gave Regulus a murderous stare as he approached the throne, James and Lily looked nervous and rightfully so. Regulus didn’t seem to notice, in fact, he walked with his head held high.
“Regulus,” James started, “when the palace guards saw that you were hurt and went to get you some help, this bag was found with your possessions and you mentioned the importance of it,” James frowned, looking weary and you wondered if this great responsibility was exhausting him yet. He held up a small satin pouch that was tied with drawstrings, “can you tell me what’s inside?”
Regulus inclined his head, “certainly, Your Majesty. They are seals of nobility of houses that associate with Lord Voldemort, the rumours are true. He wasn’t killed as a child like we were told by our parents and grandparents,” there was a gasp and again, a hushed whisper rippled through the court. Dread ran through your veins like ice, “regretfully during my time in Cumbria, I could only accumulate a couple of seals before I could get away with my life.”
James nodded as he sat down on his magnificent golden throne, his Queen at his side and he pulled open the bag, “whoever is in league with this Lord Voldemort will be imprisoned for treason and you will spend the rest of your life rotting in prison,” he cleared his throat and pulled out a piece of parchment and his eyes hardened, “Malfoy.”
Lucius Malfoy only sneered as the guards came to arrest him, “long live the King!” he shouted sarcastically as he was led away.
“Mulciber, Lestrange, Rossier, Crabbe, Goyle.”
As the King called out the names of the traitors, they were arrested one by one. Some of the men went silently, some begged for their lives, trying to appeal to James’ good nature. You shuddered as a chill ran down your spine as you held your children closer. It was an awful thing to hear someone beg for their life. It had truly been the worst day; you wished you were back in France – or Spain – beneath the warm sun without a care in the world.
James sighed as he turned to address the court and Sirius pulled you close and you kissed his cheek, he was the light in all of this darkness, “the penalty for treachery will be imprisonment, perhaps even death,” you were shocked at his words but you knew that he had to keep his Kingdom safe, “I will not be made a fool of! Thank you, Regulus for bringing this to our attention.”
“If you permit me to return to Cumbria, Your Majesty, I will be able to get you more names.”
Before James could reply, Sirius spoke up and you heard the panicked tone in his voice, “you can’t! He’ll kill you, Regulus, I-I can’t lose you!” pain and worry flashed across Sirius’ handsome face, his voice growing thick. Your heart clenched as you saw your husband in such turmoil.
Regulus bit his lip as he glanced at his worried brother and he placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, “I’ll be fine, he won’t kill me because I’m going to blame this on someone else, someone who is so evil that they deserve to die.”
Almost instantly, Sirius’ face transformed into a sneer as his soft grey eyes grew hard, “it seems like you’ve got it all figured out,” he scoffed as he shook his head as he stormed out of The Throne Room.
Regulus gazed after his brother with a pained expression as he ran a hand over his tired face, “I’ll go after him, Reg,” you wanted to help so you offered him a small smile as you passed your children to Remus, and his wife, Mary,” he didn’t mean it, he’s just scared. We all are, everything will be okay.”
Regulus grinned at you weakly as he brushed a knuckle against your cheek, “Gracias, Y/N, eres una maravilla,” you were distracted as you spoke to Regulus so you didn’t notice someone hurry after your husband.
You sighed as you made your way down the castle hallways, it was a beautiful day outside, and it was such a contrast compared to the horror that had unfolded in The Throne Room. It was then that you heard her soft voice; it was amazing how far the sound travelled.
“I’m so sorry about your brother, Sirius, you’re both so brave,” Marlene’s voice was so breathy that it made your blood boil. He was your husband.
You quickly rounded the corner and saw red, feeling sick and angry, you were so angry. Marlene had her hands placed against Sirius’ chest and she brushed her lips against Sirius’. Instantly, Sirius pushed her away with a frown, “what the hell do you think you’re doing? I love Y/N and my family more than anything, I wouldn’t jeopardise that!” his rejection filled you with relief that almost eclipsed your anger.
When Marlene scoffed, you lost your temper, “how dare you?!”
Sirius and Marlene both turned to look at you with wide eyes, as soon as Marlene saw you, a look of boredom flashed across her face, while Sirius looked devastated as his eyes filled with tears.
“Y/N,” he choked.
“I graciously gave you a job! And you betray me, going behind my back to seduce my husband!” you pointed a finger at her angrily, you felt like a crazed woman but you didn’t care, “get out of my sight, you’re dismissed! I never want to see you again!” Marlene scowled at you as she shook her head and walked away.
“Y/N,” all of your anger dissipated when you saw the tears streaming down Sirius’ cheeks and you felt tears sting at your own eyes. Marlene was exactly the kind of woman that you imagined Sirius would be with if he hadn’t had to marry you, “she kissed me, I didn’t do anything, I didn’t want her to kiss me,” his face was pleading as he reached for you. You flinched slightly from his touch and his face crumpled as he choked on his tears, “I love you.”
You nodded, hot tears streaming down your cheeks, an unbearable ache in your chest, “I love you too, I know that you pushed her away, I don’t blame you, my darling,” it was true but you just couldn’t get the image out of your head.
-----------------------------------------------
2 Years Later:
The pitter patter of little feet running down the hallway – the twins giggled as they chased each other – made Sirius grin. Elena and Johnathan were growing up so fast; they had the complexion and beauty of their mother, with their father’s thick hair and stormy grey eyes. Sirius grinned at his wife who looked like a Queen in golden robes and flowers in her long flowing tresses of hair. When Y/N spotted Sirius gazing at her lovingly, she lightly smacked his arm as a light melodic giggle escaped her lips.
Things had been going well between them, they had been rocky for a little while after Y/N had walked in on Marlene kissing him in that deserted hallway. Sirius was still devastated by the memory, Y/N had been heart broken and he was partly to blame. Though, they worked through their difficult feelings and were stronger than ever.
“You look so beautiful, Y/N” Sirius smiled as he reached down and laced their fingers together.
Y/N grinned up at him, her eyes sparkling and her cheeks flushed a pretty colour, “you don’t look so bad yourself,” she smirked and raised an eyebrow as her gaze flickered down to Sirius’ lips.
Sirius chuckled and cupped Y/N’s cheeks as she pulled him into a deep kiss, her tongue tracing the seam of his lips before pulling away. Sirius missed the warmth of his wife’s lips and he tried to follow her lips with his which made her giggle and she pressed a teasing kiss against his nose. The twins giggle caught Sirius’ attention again and he sighed happily, shaking his head.
“Slow down, you two!”
Johnathan whined, “Papa!” while Elena pouted as her eyes went round.
“God, that’s your trick when you don’t get what you want.”
Y/N laughed as she leaned her head on his shoulder, it was a nice warm weight and her hair smelled of citrus, “moral of the story is to give me everything I want,” she teased as they caught up with the twins.
Both Elena and Johnathan were so excited, Lily and James had invited them – along with Remus, Mary and Peter – to an intimate banquet. Sirius vaguely wondered what the occasion was. As soon as they walked into the banquet hall, Sirius heard Y/N take a sharp intake of breath and Sirius could see why. Over a dozen flickering candles filled the diamond encrusted chandelier that created a warm orange glow. The spread looked absolutely amazing, Sirius almost expected the velvet covered table to groan beneath the weight. Beautiful golden tapestries lined the walls and Sirius had to wonder if this was some sort of celebration.
Elena and Johnathan ran full force at James and Lily who laughed as they lifted them into their arms, “hello, you two,” James grinned before looking over at Sirius and Y/N, “you look great guys.”
Y/N smiled as she waved back, “thank you! So do you,” that was when Sirius noticed that Lily looked amazingly happy and there was a glow to her cheeks.
Sirius smiled as he greeted Remus, Mary and Peter, “do you three know why we’re here? And why the Hall is decorating like something out of a portrait?”
Remus shook his head as he wrapped his arms around Mary, his hand resting on her pregnant belly, “I’ve got no clue, they just asked us to be here.”
Y/N grinned and let out a wistful sigh, “I think I know why we’re here.”
There were so many courses of wonderful food, the flavours danced across Sirius’ tongue and he groaned quietly, blushing when Y/N smirked at him. Sirius expected James and Lily to tell them why they were here straight away but by the time the dessert was served he was still none the wiser. He couldn’t stand the anticipation for much longer.
“So, why are we here?” Sirius smiled as he wiped the food from Elena’s face.
James and Lily exchanged bright and happy looks, “okay, I suppose we can tell you now. We wanted our closest friends to be the first ones to find out,” James grinned as he lovingly kissed his wife on the lips.
“We’re going to have a baby!” they said in unison and for a split second there was silence before everyone began talking over one another.
“Congratulations, I’m so happy for you two!” Y/N squealed as she pulled Lily into a hug, “you are just going to be the best parents!”
Remus shook James’ hand with a teasing smile on his face, “another James running around, how will we ever survive?”
Sirius laughed as a happy feeling ballooned in his chest as he pulled his friend into a hug, James’ hazel eyes looked teary as Sirius pulled away. He knew that they had been trying for a baby for so long and they deserved to be parents, “they’re going to be so loved!” he was so incredibly happy for his best friends, it would be great for Elena and Johnathan to grow up with another child.
The mood was jovial and happy as dessert was finished off and Sirius made a toast, “I can’t quite believe that you two are going to have a baby, and we couldn’t be happier! To baby Potter!”
“To baby Potter!” everyone laughed and clinked their glasses together; the smile never left James and Lily’s faces.
Unfortunately, the happy mood couldn’t last long because when the dishes were being cleared away, The Captain of the Guard came running in. His face was worried and a pang of worry filled Sirius’ chest.
“Your Majesty! The prisoners, the traitors have escaped!” a gasp filled the room and regret filled James’ face. He had chosen not to kill the traitors so to keep their families compliant and in good faith. Lord Voldemort had been rather quiet for the past two years, in England at least, he’d been causing terror all over Europe and Sirius was worried that he was gathering more followers to knock James off his throne. Voldemort believed that he was the real heir to the throne.
Sirius bit his lip as he looked at Y/N whose eyes were filled with worry and she squeezed Sirius’ hand; he knew that she was thinking the same thing that he was. With the followers of Voldemort out of prison, what did that mean for Regulus?

@rime-warrior : Hi! I’m back lol I loved the heather imagine and I was wondering if you could do a calum/reader/Harry imagine where they’re on tour and trying to get the readers attention by being goofballs
Part 1: The beginning.
Never in a million years did you think you would end up making a decision like this. Hell, never in a million years did you think you would be here in the first place! If somebody would’ve come to you a year ago to tell you that you would’ve been in one of the biggest reunion tours of one of the biggest boy bands that's ever existed and one of the greatest pop/alt bands of the new generation you’d call them crazy and probably pepper spray them as you run away. But here you are and, surprisingly, it’s the last place you want to be at.
You are currently sitting at the stairs outside the venue, it’s the last concert on the “Here We Go Again” One Direction/5 Seconds of Summer Reunion Tour. Tapping your feet relentlessly against the cold metal and regretting not bringing a jacket with you as you can hear the fans going crazy inside the stadium, and who could blame them? They waited so long to see their favorite people again, not only that but together! After almost six years apart. You would’ve been just like them if it weren’t for the stomach ache your nerves are giving to you at this exact moment.
You knew what you had to do. It was the right thing after all, but that didn’t mean it didn’t hurt like crazy. Somehow you were going to lose someone tonight and you weren’t ready for that, you’ll never be ready for that.
How the hell did this all start in the first place? How did you become so entangled in this mess without realizing? And how would you get out of it?
So many thoughts are running through your head, yet none of them seem to stick around for more than ten seconds before rushing onto another. Head spinning at a thousand miles per hour as you clenched your fists at the side of your body, knuckles turning white as they grasped the cold and dirty metal of the staircase.
You could run… you were kinda fast and they are all inside so they wouldn’t be able to catch you. Maybe you could move to Peru, you always wanted to visit Machu Picchu and its alpacas, plus the ponchos look really good on you. The problem was that 1. You didn’t know Spanish. 2. You had exactly 9.57 dollars left on one of your pockets because you left your wallet inside and 3. You weren’t a coward.
Well, you were. That's why you let it come this far. But you were not going to do that anymore. You need to make a decision and it has to be tonight. But why was it so hard though?
***************************************************
A few years ago
“Y/N! C’mon!” You heard your best friend say “We are going to be late again!”
Lottie was impatiently pacing around the hotel room once again, she had her bags around her shoulders as she considered leaving you behind.
“You know I have to start early today! There’s gonna be four more people to style and I don’t want to do it all rushed.” She whined, sitting on one of the beds.
You came out of the bathroom soon after, cheeks a little bit flushed because it wasn’t like you to slow things down, especially when it came to work. But you wanted to look cute today, well, more cute than usual.
The tour was about to start and you were lucky enough that management let you come with Lottie to work on the stylish team with her. Her older brother, Louis, was a close friend of yours as well, so when he proposed the idea a few months back, you just couldn’t resist.
“Sorry, love” you replied sheepishly “I lost track of time”
Lottie lifted her gaze towards you and rolled her eyes playfully “Oh, shush. You and I both know that you are bluffing. I know exactly what you’re doing wearing that outfit and honestly? Can’t blame ya”
She was right, she’s always right when it comes to these kinds of stuff.
It’s not like you’ve never met the guys! I mean, you know Louis and Zyan because of Lottie, you’ve never seen the other members of the band in person, yet. But it’s not like you don’t know them either, they are everywhere! It was impossible to escape from the impact One Direction had. And now you were going to work with them as a stylist, it seemed like a dream.
Not only that, but you were also in charge of styling the opening number: An Australian band called 5 Seconds of Summer that Louis likes. You don’t know much about them other than this is the second time they’ll open for One Direction and they’ll be around for the European and American leg of the tour. You googled them to have a reference of what they’d look like so you’ll know how to work around them and, honestly, where do they get those guys? They don’t even look like eighteen year olds! And they are also talented and successful at such a young age? You promised yourself that you were going to listen to some of their songs, but still haven’t gotten around to do it just yet, but tonight will definitely change that.
You were nervous. You could feel your hands get clammy just thinking about the pressure that’s on you to make those guys look like absolute gods on stage (though that wouldn’t be a challenge, knowing the nine of them are incredibly handsome already) But that thought didn’t ease you a bit. You wanted to be good. No, scratch that. You know you are good. You want to impress them, hence the cool outfit.
“Think you know it all?” You said, already grabbing a pillow and throwing it to Lottie’s face.
“I know it all, darling” She laughed, throwing it back at you “Now, move your ass. We need to ge to the stadium as soon as possible”
You could hear the fans from a mile away before you walked through the backstage doors. The adrenaline was contagious, everyone was moving around like crazy but you could feel the excitement in the air. You already knew this was where you were meant to be, haven’t even started but you love it already. This was meant to be.
Lottie was walking fast, easily leaving you behind as you stared in awe at your surroundings, not paying any attention towards where you were going until you felt something hard crashing into you, making you lose your balance and you fell to the floor with a massive weight crushing your lungs.
All you could feel was the painful sting that shocked your body as your ass touched the ground with a big “thud” Luckily, the person that knocked you down was quick enough to put a hand behind your head so you don’t hit it too harshly as it came in contact with the cement floors. You tried to curse but the weight in your chest made it almost impossible to talk, making you only gasp in surprise.
The person lying on top of you groaned in discomfort, they must’ve hurt themselves too when you both hit the ground. “Are you okay?” The deep voice said, trying to hide the pain. You opened your eyes at the sound of his voice and were shocked to find two green orbs staring right back at you.
Harry’s face was too close to yours. Noses almost brushing as you took in all the details on his panicked expression. He was beautiful. Breathtaking in the metaphorically and literally since he was still on top of you, crushing your chest with his.
You tapped on his arm trying to push him off you. He seemed to get the hint as he quickly apologized and stood up, offering you his hand to help you do the same. You gladly took it as the air came rushing back to your lungs, a little whine escaping your throat as you felt how your muscles ached after the impact.
“Oh shit, are you hurt?” Harry asked, faced filled with worry as he looked at you up and down, trying to make sure there were no visible injuries.
“Not really, but-“ You said bringing a hand to your lower back and rubbing it gently, hissing when you felt a hint of pain when you touched a certain spot “Definitely gonna bruise in a few hours”
“I am very, very sorry. I didn’t mean to- Do you need ice? I can get you some ice if you-“
“I’m fine” You raised your palm to cut him off, smiling as you saw how worried he actually was “Really, I’m fine. It could’ve been worse if it wasn’t for your hand working as a cushion for my head” You giggled “Are you okay, though?”
Harry nodded, smiling as well “I truly am sorry, I was not paying attention to where I was going”
“Well, that makes two of us. But why were you running?”
“Oh, ’m running away from my bodyguard. You see, they really don’t like it when you do that and steal the keys to the van” He said with mischievous eyes, flashing a smile as he showed you the key dangling in his finger. Soon after, you heard someone yell ‘Harry Styles come back here!’ You couldn’t help but laugh at how ridiculous the situation was. Harry stared at you for a little while, eyes gleaming at the sound of your giggles “Gotta go! Are you sure you’re okay…?”
“Y/N” You said, nodding your head.
“Y/N…” He repeated in a low voice, eyes scanning you once again as he backed away slowly “See yeh round, love” The last thing you saw was his flirty wink before he started running again.
You felt your cheeks get warmer but you were quick to hide it. This was your job, you need to be professional. Though, you gotta admit, having Harry Styles knocking you off your feet on your first day wasn’t bad at all. Really not bad at all.
“There you are!” You heard your best friend call from the other end of the hall “C´mon, we need to set everything up before they come here” Lottie came close to you, softly grabbing you by the hand and tugging it so you could follow her. She had an understanding smile on her face “Don´t worry, I was in the same position as you when I first visited the tour. It's amazing, isn't it?”
“Kinda intimidating, actually”
Lottie laughed and linked your arms together as you walked through the enormous hall downt to a small room.
You spent the next hour or so getting everything ready for when they come, laughing and joking around each other like you always do, making you almost forget that you were here to do a job and not just hang out. That's one of the many good things about the Tomlinsons, they make you feel so comfortable that you forget all your worries.
The playlist you chose was blasting on the small speaker you had brought to entertain yourselves while waiting for the boys. You were both laughing and jumping around with brushes in your hands, pretending they were microphones and you were having your own little concert with the Spice Girls. You were in the middle of your solo, already lost in the sound of Baby Spice´s voice when the door opened at the same time you were stretching your arm in an improvised dance move, accidentally hitting the person next to you with the heavy brush.
“Ouch!” The boy said as he quickly brought his hand to his nose, trying to make sure it wasn't bleeding.
You covered your mouth immediately and threw the brush into one of the cushions “Oh my- I´m so sorry. I'm so so so so sorry” You soon apologized and went over to him, trying to assess the damages and hoping you didn't break his nose “Are you okay? I really am sorry I didn´t-”
The boy opened his eyes, locking them with yours. You have never seen such an intense stare in your life, it was intriguing, magnetic. You could feel yourself blush, but you didn't know if it was because of the embarrassing situation or because you felt intimidated by those brown eyes.
“Uh.. Yeah” He said blinking when he realized he was staring at you for a little too long “I just wasn't expecting that” He chuckled to ease the tension. He had a beautiful smile, like the kind that's just so welcoming and warm, so you couldn't help but join in his laughter.
Out of the corner of your eye, you could see Lottie trying to hold herself together so she wouldn´t burst into fits of laughter at the scenario playing in front of her. You quickly cleared your throat and asked “Are you sure you are okay? Nothing's broken?”
“Nah, that's just his face” A voice with a thick accent said.
The boy rolled his eyes as you peeked over his shoulders. Leaning into the door frame were three other people, boys of apparently the same age, taller than life and equally amused by his hurt friend. You recognized them immediately (mostly thanks to the color haired boy) They were the opening act. They were 5 Seconds of Summer. And you just hit their bassist on the nose.
“Way to make an impression, Cal” Laughed the boy with the long curly hair. Ashton? or was that Luke?
Calum flipped them off as they made their way into the little room and you felt your cheeks get warmer again. The three of them went to say hi to Lottie, having already met her at the last tour, and started a whole new conversation with her.
“Uhmm, I can go get some ice. If you want?” You asked, feeling a little self conscious now that there were more people in the room.
Calum smiled.
“I´m good, but thanks sweetheart” He winked at you “I´m Calum, by the way” He extended his hand for you to shake.
“Y/N” You said with a smile.
“Beautiful” He said, barely even a whisper before his eyes met yours again and you swore your heart just skipped a beat right there and there.
“Hey, Calum!” Lottie greeted him with a hug “We are starting with you today, okay? Go grab a seat” Calum nodded and sat in front of one of the vanities. Lottie came closer to you and whispered “Talk about a meet cute” She teased.
You rolled your eyes and muttered a “Shut up” before you walked away and started to work with one of the other boys.
This was going to be an interesting first day.
For the next hour or so, you found yourself amazed at the fact of how much you had in common with the Aussie band. You bonded over music, fashion and you laughed at the same dumb jokes, and were genuelly surprised at how grounded they all were. They were just as excited as you for the tour, knowing what big of a chance it was and how lucky they were to be here, just like you. In a matter of minutes you were acting like old friends.
From time to time you would look at Calum over the mirror, only to find that he was already staring at you, flashing you a smile every time your eyes met. He wasn’t much of a chatter like his friends, but he still engaged in every conversation, especially if you were part of it.
When their time at “your office” as Lottie calls it, ended, he was the last one to go out. But before he stepped out the door, he gave one last look at you and said “You’ll be watching our set tonight, right?”
You smiled “Wouldn't miss it”
Calum's smile grew until it almost reached his ears, he muttered a last goodbye before closing the door.
“Well, someone has a crush” You turned around and saw Lottie wiggle her eyebrows in a suggestive way, pressing her lips into a teasing fine line. You just rolled your eyes.
“What are you talking about? He was just being friendly”
“Who was being friendly?” A familiar voice said.
You looked behind you and ran towards the slim figure that just opened the door, pulling him into a hug.
“Louis!” You squealed in excitement, circling your arms around his back as he held tighter to you.
Louis was the closest thing you had to an older brother. Growing up as Lottie’s best friend made you an unofficial member of their family and you loved them all as your own. He was always the life of the party, making jokes, teasing you and sometimes reprimanding you if you messed up. You couldn’t count how many times he took you both for a late night snack or let you hang out with him and his friends when you got bored. He also gave great advice, and you trusted him more than anything (besides Lottie, of course) The day that he went away to chase his dreams was one of the most bittersweet moments of your lives, for one part you were happy for him but you would miss him like crazy.
And now, almost five years later, here you were. The three of you, together again like old times but with a more busy schedule. And you wouldn’t have it any other way.
“Y/N/N! It’s so good to see you, love”
“What? No hug for me?” Said Lottie sarcastically, cocking an eyebrow to his older brother.
“Only if you tell me who was being friendly with Y/N” He said as he let you go and her in for a tight bear hug.
“Who’s being friendly with who?” Someone called out from the door.
The three of you turned around to see Harry leaning onto the door. His brows frowned as his eyes scanned the room until they met yours. If he was surprised to see you there then he didn’t show it. After all, you didn’t get to tell him what you were doing here.
“H!” Lottie gasped in delight as she pushed her brother away and went to hug the curly haired man.
Harry hugged her with the same energy, holding her close and muttering a sweet ‘hello’, just like Louis did with you.
“Oi, mate! Have you met Y/N? The new stylist and best friend anyone could have?” Asked Louis as he put his arm around your shoulder, showing you off like a proud big brother.
Harry looked at you and smiled “Yeah, we ran into each other earlier” He shared a knowing smirk with you and you couldn't help but chuckle a little bit.
“Quite literally, I must say”
He was about to say something when the door opened again, you realized no one here bothered to knock first, apparently. Niall, Liam and Zayn entered the room, ready to get themselves ready before the show. Lottie introduced you to each one of them and immediately started working when she noticed how knotted Niall’s hair was.
The conversations started flowing with ease, all of them genuinely curious to get to know you, convinced that any friend of Louis was a friend of them. They were all very sweet and welcoming, and, just like with the members of 5SOS, you bonded rather quickly. All the nerves you once had easily faded away as you felt more comfortable in this space, more convinced than ever that this was where you were meant to be.
“Oi, what about those pretty eyes you saw earlier, Harold?” Liam’s voice filled the room “Seen them again?”
Harry instantly lifted his gaze to watch his friend through the mirror and shot him a deathly glare “Don't know wha you’re talkin ’bout” He stated.
You could’ve swore he looked your way, just for a moment his green eyes met yours through the mirror. It was quick, almost like a reflex. Maybe you were just imagining things.
“Ooh, does Harry have a crush?” Lottie teased while applying some oils to his curls. He just rolled his eyes “Wouldn’t be the first one to catch feelings in this room”
You snapped your head towards your friend, knowing and dreading what she was going to say next.
“Spill” Said Louis, living for the drama.
“Well…” She started, searching for your face in the mirror. But you quickly averted your eyes, suddenly finding Zayn’s hair very interesting “Let’s just say that one of your Australian mates already started making eyes at our Y/N”
The room filled with “oooohs” and “aaawwws” from all of the boys. All except Harry, who was just staring straight at his reflection with a rather serious look.
You laughed and shook your head “Honestly, Lottie. You are just imagining things”
Staring at the mirror one more time, your eyes quickly met Harry’s green orbs, already staring at you from his seat. You shot him a smile and he returned it as the topic of the conversation changed once again.
Time flew without any of you really noticing it. All the boys were done with their hair and make up, ready to move on to the wardrobe department. Lottie tagged along with Louis, wanting to say hi to a few friends she made last year. You wanted to go too, but a quick glance at your phone made you aware of the time and the promise you had made.
“Oh shoot” You breathed, quickly grabbing your phone from the vanity as you rushed through the door.
“What’s the hurry, love?” Asked Harry, amused at your behavior. You didn’t notice that he was the only person left in the room.
“The show’s about to start and I kinda promise someone that I wouldn’t miss it” You smiled “But, now that I think about it, I don’t even know how to get to the side of the stage!”
Harry got up from his chair, wiping his palms onto his black skinny jeans “I could take you there, but only if you promise to stay there for our set as well”
“What? Are you kidding?” You laughed “You really think I wasn’t planning on doing that already?”
His eyes gleamed with joy at your words and you swore you saw a glimpse of his pink tinted cheeks as he nudged his head and asked you to follow him.
You followed Harry though a complicated mess of halls filled with people running around, making sure that everything was already set to start. You had to admit, he really knew how to navigate, not only on stage but backstage as well, you would’ve gotten lost the moment you stepped outside the door if it weren’t for him.
Once you reached the side of the stage, making sure that you stayed way out of the fans point of view, Harry said he had to go back and change.
“‘S not Ashton, is it?” He asked, just before he turned to leave.
“What?”
“The boy who was a crush on you” He stated, eyes locked to the stage, almost like he was trying too hard not to meet yours “‘s not him, right? Cos I’ve seen him look at my sister and I don’t-“
“Nobody has a crush on me!” You laughed as you rolled your eyes, reminding yourself to kill your friend right after the show. “Lottie was just teasing. Besides, I’m here to work, not to look for a relationship”
Harry nodded, seemingly pleased with your answer, making his way back to the maze called ‘backstage’
You watched him walk away with a soft smile on your face. Harry was not like everyone in the media said he was, and you were glad. You didn’t need more drama in your life, no boyfriends nor toxic relationships. You could feel that this was going to be your safe space, and who knows? maybe when the tour finishes you’ll have a new friend to lean on.
The sound of a guitar riff caught you off guard, pulling your attention away from the black background and into the stage. You could hear the fans go absolutely bonkers as the four Australians came into view, smiling as they took their places on stage.
Sharing one understanding look among each other, Ashton banged his drumsticks together, setting the pace for their first song. The crowd goes wild as they recognize the melody immediately, singing and jumping along the words of a song about a girl friendzoning one of the guys.
They sounded incredible. It was hard to imagine that they were still teenagers like yourself, like most of the people in the crowd, actually. The way they moved on stage was erratic, always walking around and messing with each other as they sang and played their instruments like it was nothing. It was easy to tell that they’ve been friends for a long time now and they feel comfortable with each other, having the most fun up there, seizing every moment like it was their last,
You, on the other hand, found yourself enjoying their set a little too much. Since you’ve never gotten the chance to actually listen to most of their songs before tonight, you were quite surprised at how much fun and kinda edgy they were, making you want to dance and jump like the rest of the fans. So you did. You didn’t care about if people around you were watching, you just let yourself go to the rhythm and enjoyed your night. This was the beginning of your new life, what better way to celebrate it than letting all your worries go while your new favorite band played on stage, just mere meters in front of you.
You were so lost in your own little world, completely immersed in the music, that you didn’t notice the looks Calum gave to you while onstage. Everytime he had the chance, his head spinned towards you, watching with joy as you danced along to their songs. Once you caught his eyes staring at you, you smiled at him and stuck your tongue out, mocking him. He just laughed wholeheartedly, bringing one finger to the side of his nose, the same one you punched a few hours ago. You did the same without questioning it, turning that little gesture into your first inside joke.
The guys played a few more songs before their set ended. Calum came to you as soon as they finished their bows.
“Hey!” He said, still pumped with adrenaline.
He was sweaty, very sweaty. But his energy was contagious as he flashed one of his beautiful smiles to you, eyes shining from excitement.
“You came!”
“Told ya I was going to!” You exclaimed “You guys are amazing!”
“You really think so?” Calum looked like a boy on Christmas, genuinely happy that you like how they sound like “Or are you just being nice because you almost broke my nose?”
“Almost! That’s the key word there” You chuckled “But no, I’m being honest. You killed it tonight!”
Calum’s smile almost reached his eyes, making all of his little dimples pop out as he looked at you softly.
“Hey… Uhm.. I need to get back to our dressing room, Wanna come with me?” He asked, suddenly shy.
“Sure!” You said, making his eyes sparkle “Then we can come back and watch the others perform”
Calum furrowed his eyebrows “Oh, you’re staying for that?” He sounded a little bit disappointed.
“Well, yeah? How could I miss it” You chuckled, but stopped once you saw his expression change “Why? You’re not staying for the whole show?”
“Management doesn’t let us stay long after our set”
You muttered a surprised ‘oh’ That wasn’t fair at all! Why couldn’t they enjoy the show like the rest of you? Or even just stay backstage and do nothing but chill until the show was done? You could see Calum was disappointed in that fact too, it must be a bummer for them not to have the full experience.
“But..” He said smiling, bringing his eyes up to meet with yours again “There is an after party at the hotel later tonight, will I see you there as well?”
You nodded “Of course! I’ll be there”
“Yes! Can’t wait!” He jumped in excitement as he took a step forward and started walking towards the dressing rooms. Not before turning back around and saying “See ya there, Y/N” Putting his finger to the side of his nose and smiling when you did the same.
A few minutes later Lottie showed up beside you, knowing the concert was about to start.
“How did the guys do?” She asked.
“Oh, they were amazing! I don´t know why I´ve never heard of them until a few weeks ago!”
She hummed “Yes, they are pretty good. How was Calum?”
You looked at her confused. Was this going to become a thing now? Couldn't you just have a friend without getting involved in some relationship drama? It was frustrating and it will only end up making things awkward for everyone. It has happened before and you were not ready to experience that again.
She seemed to notice your discomfort and immediately changed the topic. Not wanting to upset you. Clearing her throat she said “Uhm.. the boys really like you”
You snapped your head towards her direction.
“They´ve talked about you a little bit, they all say you are really nice and all the yadah yadah I already know” She smiled “Harry was especially pleased with your work. He says could come and stay with me permanently on the team”
You blushed at his compliment, but before you could even say anything you were interrupted by his voice.
“Straight off the plane to a new hotel..”
The fans go wild. Quite feral, you might add. But you couldn't blame them, not even a little bit. The five boys walking down the runway was truly a sight to behold.
You felt the goosebumps run around your body as the energy grew into something quite impossible to understand. This was it. This was the feeling everyone's been talking about, and now it was your turn to experience it every night.
As the music flew through the stadium. All five of them took over the stage like it was their home, and in some way, it was. They practically grew up there, being in the spotlight since a very young age and stealing the hearts of millions around the world. They were as professionals as they were goofy, always finding an excuse to have fun and tease each other in the middle of the songs and with the public, creating an atmosphere of pure bliss wherever they went on that huge structure in the middle of the stadium.
With every song they sang, Lottie grabbed your arm and started dancing and jumping like it's the first time she heard their music and you did the same, getting completely lost in the feeling, so much so that you didn't even notice how much time had passed and just before you know it, the concert was getting to an end.
When the last song came through, the guys were scattered around the stage, running around as they took in everything they could from this experience. At some point, Harry stood right in front of you, just like Calum did a few hours ago, and while he sang his heart out, his eyes connected with yours. His green eyes sparkled like stars when he met your gaze, only for a second too long before he joined his brothers in the middle of the runway, ready to give one final bow and exit the stage where he came from.
“C´mon!” Said Lottie, pulling you out of your trance “They are going to shower and get ready for the after party. We should get going now, because I am not going to show up there with this outfit!”
You laughed at her and followed her to grab a cab, feeling more than excited for the afterparty.
You walked along the lobby, Lottie right by your side. Both of you clean, fresh and looking hot as hell as you made your way to the venue. To say you were nervous was an understatement, you were downright terrified. This was your first VIP party celebrating, not only your first day, but also the first day of one of the biggest tours of the year.
“Hey,” Lottie calmed you down, placing her little hand on your shoulder. “We did an amazing job today, sweetie. It’s time to celebrate”
You nodded and let out a breath you didn’t know you were holding, trying to calm the stomach ache that your nerves created and opening the door of the hotel club.
You immediately got caught up in the dark atmosphere, flashing colored lights flying around the room and reflecting themselves onto the mirrored dance floor. Out of the corner of your eyes you spotted a few people sitting on the bar stools, some were already on the dance floor and others were just sitting on dark booths pulled against the walls, chilling as they watched the party go by. You recognize some of them, but most of them were strangers, elite people that came to celebrate and wish another successful tour for the boys.
The pressure on your chest became tighter. You grabbed Lottie‘s hand and felt some kind of comfort when she squeezed it for a second, at least you weren’t alone.
“LOTTIE!” Someone called from one of the dark booths. You could recognize Zayn’s thick accent anywhere. With one reassuring look, Lottie pulled your hand and guided you through the sea of people flooding the room.
Once you reached the booth it was easier to identify its occupants. Zayn was sitting next to Louis who, at the same time, was beside Ashton and Luke. You all exchanged your hellos as you took a seat next to Lottie.
“What’d think of the show?” Asked Louis, taming a sip of his beer.
The group started rambling on and on about the different parts of the show, their favorite moments and about the craziest fans they managed to see. You spend quite a bit talking and laughing with the guys, slowly getting more comfortable being there. It’s not like you didn’t enjoy parties at all, on the contrary, you loved them. The problem was that this was new territory, pleasure mixing with your responsibilities and you didn’t want to fuck this up. The sheer thought of that possibility made you feel ill again and you wanted nothing more than to breathe a little air into your lungs before you passed out from overthinking too much.
Scanning the room you spotted a glass door that led to some sort of balcony, you cheered internally “I’ll be right back” You whispered to Lottie, who was having a nice chat with Luke about his bone structure. She looked at you, worried. You smiled at her “I’m just going to get some air, keep talking. I won’t take long”
You almost sprinted to the door, heart racing at the thought of a moment alone to gather yourself. Once the cool air of the night grazed your skin, you felt like you could finally breathe properly. You always felt more like yourself when nighttime arrived, it was complicated to explain but it seemed like the stars could understand you better than anyone. They were your comfort and your confidants, because no matter what, you knew they wouldn't ever leave you alone.
“‘S nice to know ‘m not the only one who needed a break” You heard a familiar voice say next to you.
Harry was standing next to railing, green eyes fixed on you as you took a step closer.
“You’re not having fun?” You asked, resting your elbows on the cold metal of the balcony.
“Parties are all the same after a while,” He said absentmindedly “‘m just really tired”
“Well, that’s understandable. After the night you had? If I were you I would be sleeping until I turned 40!”
Harry laughed and shook his head at your comment “How’s your bum?”
“My what now?”
“Your ass” He said pointing at your backside “From the fall?”
“Oh! It’s fine, just a little bruised up. Which is surprising since I expected a lot worse from being run over by a six foot man”
He smiled “‘m sorry, love. If it makes you feel better I got my ass handed to me by a six foot five man right after that”
“Yeah, that does make me feel better” You chuckled, looking at the sky again “Still can’t believe I’m here”
Harry came closer to you, his arm barely inches from yours. You didn’t notice as he studied your face carefully, almost like he was trying to remember every detail “‘s like a dream, isn’t it?”
“It truly is. I-“ You turned your face to him, only to find his way closer than you remember “Is everything alright, Harry?”
He hummed, distancing himself from you as he laid his back to the railing “Just thinking”
“About?”
“That I might actually enjoy the parties if you’re around”
You were about to return the compliment when you heard the glass door open with a ferocious amount of force.
“Y/N!” Lottie yelled from the insides of the party “Get your little perky arse in here! They’re playing our song!”
You knew better than to say no to that. So you laughed as you made your way back inside, but not before saying bye to Harry.
“I’ll come and find you soon” He said with a dashing smile.
“As long as you don’t throw me to the ground, then that’s okay”
You grabbed Lottie’s hand and she pulled you over to the dance floor, not wasting any time before she started moving along to the song blasting from the stereos, you joined her almost instantly.
At that moment, you didn’t care who saw. You were having the time of your life dancing with your best friend in a party celebrating your new life. Your new beginning. Yes, you were scared. But why be scared now? Why don’t just enjoy the moment? Life’s too short to be moping around hypotheticals. Right now, you wanted to dance.
And you did, for five more songs you let all your worries go down the drain. Tonight you were living the dream and you silently promised yourself to cherish every moment like it’s the last one, no time for worries nor fears. Just fun.
“Ugh! I need a wee!” Lottie called over the music.
“I’m gonna grab some water!” You said to her before each of you made your way to your own destinations.
Once you reached the bar, you tried and failed to get the bartender’s attention. Them being to worried about the other clients waiting for a line of shots at the other side of the bar.
Wanting to rest your feet for a while, you decided to sit up on one of the tall stools they had, trying to catch your breath after that intense dance workout you just had. Your eyes began to wander across the room again out of curiosity, you wanted to know what your friends were up to at the moment.
You quickly found Liam and Niall on the dance floor, trying to copy some choreography they probably saw online and failing miserably while doing so. Louis, Zayn and Ashton were still at the booth, they were laughing hard at something that Josh had said, making Louis spill his drink onto the table. You scanned the room a little bit more, pretending like you were in a game of ‘Where’s Waldo?’ Without looking for anyone in particular. That’s when your eyes met Calum’s.
He was sitting at the other end of the bar, eyes already fixed at you when you met them. When he noticed you were staring, he quickly shot you a smile and brought his finger to the side of his nose, remembering your secret greeting from earlier. You smiled back and did the same, beckoning him to come talk to you.
He was by your side in a second
“Hey you!” He said excitedly “Was wondering where you went”
“I was just dancing with Lottie a few minutes ago” You pointed out the dance floor.
“Oh I know, hard to keep the eyes from ya” He smiled “Looks like karaoke is not your only talent”
“Oh shut up!” You laughed as you playfully punched him in the arm “I could still break your nose, you know?”
“I’m completely aware, darling. Wouldn’t mind it if you did, though”
You rolled your eyes at him “Are you having fun?”
“I am now”
You laughed again and Calum swore he had never listened to such a beautiful sound before. His brown eyes met yours again, trying to communicate everything you needed to know with just one gaze, just one moment. He was never a man of many words, but he hoped that this would be enough.
“So..” You said, trying not to get lost in his stare but failing miserably as you felt how his dark eyes took you in “What’ve you been doing, if you weren’t having fun?”
Calum smiled and shook his head “Trying to get Michael and Luke out of trouble-“
“CALUM” A voice was heard from across the room, probably Luke’s
“Like I said…” He pointed behind you at the two young men on the dance floor next to Liam and Niall, trying to balance some beer bottles onto Niall’s quiff “Cal! Come here!”
Calum sighed “I better go see what they’re doing”
“Make sure they don’t hurt themselves, I certainly don’t want to deal with covering them with make up tomorrow if they end up cutting their faces off” You joked.
“I’ll take that into account” He chuckled “I’ll find you later, Y/N” Calum said, turning around to their friends.
After a while, you decided to go over the booth and hang out with Louis, not wanting to be alone on a stool bar any longer.
“I can see you’re having fun, aren’t ya, love?” He said, putting his arm around your shoulder in a brotherly kind of way.
“I am, in fact. Thank you for asking”
“Been a bit flirty from what I can see as well, haven’t ya?”
You looked at him. He had a smug smile on his face, one brow raising teasingly as he waited for your answer. What did he mean by that?
“Uhm.. what? I haven’t been flirting with anyone” You state, confused by his question.
“Yeah? Do they know that?” Louis said, pointing behind you.
You turned your head to where he was pointing and you could see Calum and Harry, both coming from different sides of the room each one with two drinks in their hands, approaching the booth. Both of their eyes were fixed on you as they walked closer and closer, until they stopped completely in front of you.
It seemed like only then did they acknowledge each other, as they comically turned their heads to their side, looked down at each other’s drinks and then lifted their gaze to meet again face to face, mirroring each other’s movements and expressions.
“Guess you got a handful there, love” Louis whispered in your ear.
Oh, boy.

Jane seymour - Janey ( sometimes mama by kitty )
Anna of cleves - Cleves or A
Katherine howard - Kitty / kat
Catherine parr - Cathy / cath
words :
Madrina : Godmother
mi hija : my daughter
mi corazón. : my heart
française : french
The day would start as you'd expect, just like any other normal, family household.
Catalina, was the first to pad down the stairs, her thick curly waves of ombre hair bouncing with each step she took. The small silver crucifix that hung around her neck swayed also with the soft steps she took. There was nothing important she had to do, rather she enjoyed being the first to wake up, get a slice of pure silence to look out at the fresh day, before the chaos would awake. As Catalina stood, or 'Lina' as the other five most liked to call her, staring out to the street they lived on, though not much of the street itself was seen, as the queen's home had a rather large, and long drive. Neatly decorated with red roses, and white daisies, the grass was neat, well watered, and it flourished. Thanks to Jane, who had become a devoted gardener. Though the front yard was a sight to see, the backyard was even sweeter. Set that displayed sweet hidden picnic spots, a pool, and a beautiful flower & vegetable garden. Becoming lost in her train of thought, a new voice slowly swept into her thoughts, causing her to turn, facing a woman of similar height.
"Good morning Madrina." it was Cathy, it was easy to know who it was, not only did her puffy lion mane of curls give it away, she was the only one to call Catalina Madrina, as it meant "God parent" and Catalina was appointed Cathy's godmother way back when she was born, 1512, her mother personally appointed the queen at the time as the godmother, Cathy's maternal mother who was a close loyal lady to Catalina during her reign. As well, Cathy was named Catherine , as namesake of Catherine ( Catalina ) of Aragon, as a show of loyalty and compassion to England's Spanish queen.
"mi corazón." Catalina sighed contentedly , as her god daughter stood in front of her. "I hope you slept well, mi hija" though as much as Catalina could hope, her god daughter had awful sleeping patterns, due to her never ending passion to write, or read. Tending to make her stay up late into the night, and early into the morning.
"I suppose I did, a new book comes out a week from now, it looks amazing, so I figured I must get it." Cathy responded, as she looked down at the book currently in hand, one of her fingers slipped in a page, keeping its place. Like she had lost her book mark, and her finger was the next best option. "I hope you slept well too."
" I did, very well indeed." Catalina responded, taking a sip from the mug that had been warming her hands, Cathy had turned away, most likely heading for the kitchen to make coffee, or even tea. Cathy was hooked on tea, just as Jane was. So it was no surprise to see Jane poke her head around the corner with an exhausted smile on her face.
"Morning Lina!" Jane said, her tone was warm, and kind. Yet the sleep and desire for rest was there, lingering in the back, as Jane let out a soft yawn, continuing to smile at the eldest queen.
'Rough night? Jane darling you look exhausted." Catalina sighed, as she walked into the kitchen, placing her mug down on the counter, to cup Jane's face.
"I suppose you could call it rough, poor kitty had another nightmare, third time this week. And it took even longer to get her back to sleep, let alone remember where she was and that she was safe." Jane replied, allowing Lina to cup her face gently, though she was unsure whether to stare directly at the older women, or look away.
Catalina would only sigh in response, tilting her head as a sweet, soft smile crept onto her tanned face. Jane was the motherly friend. She always helped others, comforted them, and made sure they were ok, but Jane also needed someone to look out for her. Catalina had taken on that role for her. Seeing as she already does the same for Cathy, plus it was stressful on Janes behalf, who had taken the heart to look out for Anne & Kitty. Gently Catalina stroked Jane's cheek, earning a kind smile from Jane, who stared sweetly into Catalinas eyes, before moving away as her tea was ready.
Anna of Cleves was next to come downstairs.already dressed for the day, wearing a pair of red cargo pants, and a black t-shirt. It was rare to ever see anna in the mornings still in her sleepwear, she was always ready mainly because most mornings she would get up very early, and go to the gym or go for a run, which gave her the excuse to shower and already be changed by the time the clock striked 7. Anna wore a small smile, nothing to cheery though, as she made her way to the kitchen to begin breakfast. Cooking had become Anna's job, not by force. But by choice. The tall dark women had come to enjoy the task of food, though she only ever made breakfast and dinner. It was normally Jane's thing to make lunch & bake, as Anna could not bake to save her life.
"Morning Anna." Jane was the first to break the silence in the kitchen, as she grabbed her mug containing her warm tea, she sipped it quietly, awaiting a response.
'Morning." Anna replied quickly, as she cracked eggs into the frying pan, and grabbed her cooking tools.
"Has anyone seen the other two?" Jane carried on, looking into the lounge not seeing the cousins tucked up together like normal, which only made Jane worry further.
"Nope. Last time I heard Anne was snoring, that was when I walked past her room." Cathy added, not even looking up from her book, her eyes were too glued to her page, desperately needing to know what lies in the next chapter that she was so close to.
"Its nice, I must be honest. The house is still quiet, apart from natural sounds." Catalonia spoke, mentioning sounds like the birds chirping outside, the wind blowing calmly, and the fry pan, that was cooking the food. "I don't mind this, why can't we always have this.." she smiled, as she sipped her tea.
Next thing they knew, their peace was broken, as Anne came sprinting down the stairs, jumping the last three steps to land on the floor, dragging her poor tired cousin along with her.
"GOOD MORNING BESTIES!" Anne yelled, as she made it to the bottom of the steps, pulling a much smaller girl beside her.
"And there she is." Catalina sighed, as she took her mug, and went over to her special arm chair, which had a good view of the backyard.
Jane smiled, then peeking around Jane's side, her heart even sighed, but picked up as the sight of a tired, looking kitty made her burst. All queens had agreed, kitty was very cute, and sweet in most things she does.
" Kitty, little love good morning." Jane spoke softly, looking down at the brunette girl who had strips of her hair hanging loose from her ponytail, like she had been pulling at them, making them fall from the secured band in her hair. She earned no response, but a small smile, as kitty broke lose of Anne's grip, and toted over to her mother, and quickly latched on, clinging to her with a hug. Jane kissed the girls head, and smoothed her hair, before putting her cup down, and lifting the girl into her arms. All thanks to Kitty's extremely small figure, she was easy to lift, and carry. As Jane & Kitty's bond was deep, each saw the other as mother or daughter, and had formed such a bond you would be amazed to find they weren't what they seemed. Kitty never minded being picked up, it was just another way of safety, and love. So she lay her head down on Jane's shoulder, listening as Jane whispered a few words into her ear, continuing to kiss the girls head, and sway side to side. Not only was she extremely light, she was well small for a seventeen year old girl.
"What's on the agenda today huh? Roller blading? Archery? SWORD FIGHTING?" Anne grinned, as she walked away from Jane and kitty, over to the kitchen island where she would dramatically lay her top half body over, earning a glare from Anna who was busy finishing the food.
"Causingabsolutechaosinthehousetohavefunbecausenoneofthesepeopleknowwhatfunis?" Anne muttered under her breath, her grin turned suspicious, as it always did.
Cathy looked up finally from her book, and shrugged. "No one actually got any plans actually. At least, I don't think. I was going to wander down to the bookshop later, that's what i'll be doing..?" she said, keeping her finger pressed on the page where she was reading earning nothing but a sour sigh from the green girl.
"More books??" Anne huffed
"More books." Cathy responded.
"You have a whole freaking library up in your room! How do you need more freaking books?!" Anne's response earned a small giggle from Anna, who was now plating up food, and taking it to the dining room, Cathy frowned, and shrugged again.
"One can never run out of books." Cathy smiled, as she looked down at her page to begin writing, when Anna called out.
"Breakfast queens!"
Each woman made their way to the table, sitting in their spots, Catalina, Anna, Anne, Jane, Kitty, Cathy. Three on one side, three on another. Each of their eyes set on the food in front of them.
"Thank you Anna, it looks amazing." Peeped Jane, as she picked up her fork, her thanking was followed by everyone else's, as Anna sighed with relief, she looked at everyone.
"You may begin eatin-" she said, but stopped midway as she had already seen Anne finish half of the food she had, Anne looked up and grinned, small bits of egg hung on her face, as she looked back down to continue eating.
"Lovely manners Anne." Catalina said, as she picked up her fork and began eating. Earning a head wiggle from Anne who pulled a face.
"LovElY maNnErs AnnE." Anne mocked. "Shut up Lina, no one asked." Anne spat right back, as she finished her mouthful, and gulped down the glass of orange juice in front of her. While everyone else ate, kitty only picked at her food. Not that she didn't like it, she just never really ate. Because she never found herself dyingly hungry, she ate small pieces, but this whole.. 2000s food made her anxious, they had been in this century for a year already, and had gotten used to most things, but Kat never really seemed to understand the wide variety of food nowadays. Often some foods & their textures set her off, which is why she remained in her comfort zone, with the food she enjoyed eating, and the amounts she could take.
The table was filled with chatter, talking about recent events, or upcoming ideas. Jane and Cathy had stood as they cleared the table, Cathy checking in with Kat last, desperately trying to encourage her to have a bit more, with defeat in her eyes, she looked over to see Jane walking back into the dining room, who only shook her head at Cathy's attempts, which sent the curly haired girl off, packing more things up, and cleaning them away.
"How about we all go down to town, to the bookshop with Cathy?" Jane smiled, as she entered the dining room again, to see Anne talking across the table to Kitty, and Lina & Anna chatting away, though the noise dropped when Jane spoke.
Cathy moved in, and smiled at the idea. "Yes! That sounds amazing, there are lots of shops nearby too, so you wont get as bored."
"But I bet there's no laser tag near it."
"No, there's no laser tag near it Anne." Cathy replied.
"What a load of shit."
"Language."
"English and française"
"Not what I meant."
"I didn't ask."

Dinner for Schmucks
Pairing: Tom x female reader
Warning: a bad word in both Spanish and English whoops, major fluff.
Word count: 1.3k
Tumblr media
“Could you come get me?” You pleaded into the phone, “He’s a creep and he said that he performs taxidermy, and I don’t want to end up like a dead stuffed bird!” You begged to Tom, only hearing a laugh from the other end.
“I told you that Tinder was a bad idea, but you didn’t believe me!” He gloated as he grabbed his keys to come pick you up. “Where did he even take you to eat?”
“Taco Bell! Fucking Taco Bell! He told me he was taking me to an upscale Mexican restaurant but instead I’m at pinche Taco Bell!” You laughed as you couldn’t even keep a straight face. “God, this is the worst date of my life!” You exclaimed, pacing around the bathroom as a lady left without washing her hands, which caused you to gag. “Thomas I mean it when I say this, but for the love of God drive so fast that you’re going well over the speed limit. I need you now.”
Tom is full on laughing as he puts the key in the ignition, backing out of his driveway.
“Don’t say I didn’t warn you.” He stated, causing you to groan audibly. “Stay on the line with me, okay? Don’t hang up and definitely don’t leave the bathroom.”
“I won’t, thank you Tommy. Drive safely please.”
“I will, darling.” He says as he reassures you that he’s on his way.
You’ve always liked Tom, but you never knew if he liked you in the same way. You could sense his jealousy towards the guys you liked, but you didn’t really think he wanted to be with you.
Tom wanted to be with you so much, but you didn’t seem to like him in the same way. He wished that he could say that you were his, but right now he’s saving you from yet another awful date. There was the date with the dental hygienist, who had a literal criminal record; the “botanist”, who ran an illegal marijuana dispensary; and now the taxidermist. Your taste in dates were awful, and it pained Tom to see you get involved with these terrible men.
He continued to make small talk with you until he reached the parking lot of the Taco Bell, parking his car before storming into the lobby. He made his way to the bathroom and knocked on the door to tell you to come out so you two could book it.
Your “date” stood up once he saw you and Tom walking out of the restaurant hand in hand, only for Tom to flip him off as he opened the door for you two to leave.
You gently slapped Tom on his bicep for what he just did, as he just gave you a little shrug as he proceeded to open the car door for you. He backed out of the parking lot and began to drive you home.
“Thank you Tommy, for coming to rescue me.” You said, staring out the window as he looked over at you.
“You’re welcome, it’s no problem. At least it’ll always be memorable. Maybe the next guy you’ll date will be a circus clown or something awful like that.” He let out a small laugh, hoping to make you smile. You didn’t, you just shrugged as you ran your hand through your hair.
“I just wish it went better, that’s all.” You said flatly as you continued to stare out the window.
Tom knew you were upset, and he knew that you were excited for this date. So he decided not to press the subject anymore. He reached for your hand and you intertwined your fingers in his. He gave your hand a gentle squeeze as he continued to drive you home to your flat.
He turned the car off and went out to open the car door for you, as you walked towards your front door. You grabbed Tom’s hand and he held onto it gently, giving it a little squeeze as you unlocked the door to let both of you two inside.
You barely made it in the door, as you sighed and sat down on the couch, letting out the tears that you’ve been holding in for the past hour. Tom sat down right next to you, holding you while you cried into his chest.
“Why, d-do I h-have such bad l-luck with guys” you sobbed, as Tom held you tighter and closer to him.
“I’m not sure love, no one is deserving of you. You’re too good for anyone.” he said as he rubbed circles on your back.
It was true, you were too good for anyone, and he even thought you were too good for him. That was why he never asked you out, because he knew with his hectic lifestyle that you deserved someone who would always be there for you, and not always in another location filming.
“You are t-too, Tommy. I love you.” you said, barely audibly.
“Wait, you love me?” He asked, hoping you meant it in the same way he did.
“Yes, of course. I always have.” you said into his chest, and without hesitation Tom pulled you into a long kiss. You put one hand at the nape of his neck and the other on his chest.
You two pulled away for a second as you both caught your breath. Tom was grinning from ear to ear, and so were you.
“I’ve wanted this for a long time.” You said as you ran your hand through his hair. He grabbed your hand and placed it on his cheek, leaning into your touch.
“Me too love, I’ve wanted this since we met.” He pulled you into another kiss, this time moving you into his lap. You straddled your legs around his waist so that it would be more comfortable, and he let out a small moan as he pulled you closer to him. It was as if you were made for each other, and it felt so natural and easy.
You pulled away, as Tom peppered kisses down your neck as you threw your head back and laughed.
“I. Love. You” he said through kisses, and you were quick to say “I love you too” back.
You decided to get out of your dress and into something more comfortable, so you got up to go to your bedroom, leaving Tom in the living room. “I’ll be right back” you said as you closed your door.
“Okay darling, would you want to watch a movie? I know one that’ll cheer you up.” He grinned as he queued up Netflix and put on “Dinner for Schmucks”.
“Sure.” You called from the other room, quickly changing so that you could go back to be with Tom.
You came back into the room as you walked over to Tom. You two made yourselves comfortable on the couch, cuddling and intertwining yourselves into each other. He had a devilish smirk on his face as he pushed play, and he tried to hide it as the movie started. At first you were unsure why he put the movie on, but it hit you when you saw that Steve Carell’s character was, in fact, a taxidermist. You laughed as you realised why he put the movie on, and you smacked him in the arm and tried to get up.
“You jerk!” you said playfully as you tried to get up off the couch. “It is so not funny!” You couldn’t contain your laughter as you tried to pull away from Tom. He tried to kiss you but you pouted and avoided his kisses, causing him to grab your waist and pepper your face in kisses so you wouldn’t be mad at him.
“Okay I’ll admit, bad choice of movie. But come on, it’s a cinematic masterpiece! And Paul Rudd is in it, I know him!” He exclaimed as you sighed, rolling your eyes while letting out a little laugh. Tom kissed you on the top of the head and laced his fingers into yours, as you both continued to watch the film.
——
A/N: I just watched the movie ‘Dinner for Schmucks’ for the first time and it’s such a good film! This idea came to me while watching the film so I knew I had to write it. If you want to be added to the taglist let me know!

Soulmates part 5
Tumblr media
Masterlist!
At 8 pm, Kelsey walked over to the front desk of the Empire Rooftop and asked if Rafael Barba was already seated, "You must be Miss Hardy. Right this way, Mr. Barba is waiting for you."
Kelsey followed the waiter to the table that Rafael was seated. When Rafael looked up at kelsey, she took his breath away. Rafael thought Kelsey looked stunning. She was perfect to him. she wore a short one-shoulder white bodycon dress, her hair was curled loosely and left down, and she was wearing smoky makeup paired with a nude lip. She looked like an angel sent from above, but Kelsey was much prettier, and hotter Rafael reasoned in his head.
"hey you, sorry I'm late." "chica dulce te ves hermosa" Kelsey's brows knitted together in confusion. "Okay, the Spanish thing totally and completely sexy, but you have to tell me what you are saying" Rafael laughed at Kelsey's statement, a real genuine laugh that surprised Rafael. He hasn't laughed or even smiled genuinely for some time now. "no chica dulce," he smirked; kelsey rolled her eyes at him.
The waiter came back to the table and took their drink order, kelsey scanned over the older man's features, and she blushed. "You know I would let you borrow my phone if you like." "Why would I need to borrow your phone, Mr. Barba?" "for that picture, you need to take, you know, to make it last longer," he smirked. Kelsey looked at the table, blushed, and muttered, "sorry" kelsey wished the ground would swallow her whole at this moment in time. "Hey, I'm teasing you. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable. I'm just so nervous. It's my last first date, and your just so perfect, chica dulce. I'm just trying to relieve tension."
Kelsey took a minute to process what had just happened. A brilliant, sexy man who happened to be her soulmate called her perfect and was nervous about messing things up with her, her of all people. Kelsey broke out one of her killer smiles. "Don't worry about it; I'm nervous too; I get it, I do." "Who was your first crush Miss Hardy" he was trying to change the subject, and kelsey was grateful. "um, probably Emmett from legally blonde. He was shy, sweet, and intelligent. I think I was 11" Rafael raised his eyebrows. "So older lawyers your type, or is it just a coincidence?" he tilted his head to the side and smirked."Enough about me, what about you, who was your go-to crush." "well when I was 18 a young girl came out with an awful song, and a schoolgirl outfit took the charts by storm, and she was hot!, she was stunning with deep blue eyes, every time the teen pop sensation came on the tv I used to pretend to hate her, but she was amazing" he had a glazed look on his face. "who was it " "The ever so talented Britney Spears, god I thought she was the bee all and end-all when it came to girls, when I would look at a pretty girl that would walk by I used to compare them to her and Britney always won"
Kelsey's nerves now vanished, and she fell into laughter at how bad the lawyer had it for a young Britney. Rafael continued to Kelsey about his childhood growing up. It sounded like he was happy growing up even though he left his father out of the conversation. When they finished eating, Rafael paid the bill, much to Kelsey's dismay, and led them out of the restaurant. "Tonight was perfect, Rafael thankyou." "pleasure is all mine chica dulce" Kelsey faced the older man and hugged him. When they pulled away from each other, you could feel the tension between them. "Want to share a cab your not too far from me," Rafael whispered, trying to get his breath back from the intense moment. "or you could come to my place?" kelsey was so nervous; never had she been so bold to ask any man that question. Rafael hailed a cab off the street and gave the cabbie the address. Rafael could sense how nervous and worked up kelsey was, so he grabbed her hand and let his thumb draw circles on the back of it to steady her nerves.
Kelsey unlocked her apartment door, turned on the light, and walked through to the living room with Rafael right behind her. She suddenly spun round to him and crashed her lips to his. At first, he was surprised, letting her clumsy and inexperienced mouth dominate the kiss. Still, when his brain caught up to what was happening, he completely devoured her mouth, the heated kiss turned into a few pecks, and then the couple completely pulled away from one another. Rafael pulled her into an embrace "chica dulce, let me hold you." Kelsey snuggled into the man's chest and closed her eyes, and everything was at peace with her. She could fall asleep, standing up with this man cuddling her. "Rafi, I know you didn't plan the bond to happen, and I know it isn't an ideal situation for you, but I'm so happy that you will be my first and last for everything and that we have forever with each other." Rafael felt Kelsey's sincerity as she spoke to him. He started to well up. "no need to thank me chica dulce, you have given me hope and love to look forward to, I always thought I would be married to the job."
Kelsey wiped away the tear that fell from his cheek and pecked his lips. "Darling, let us go to bed. It is late, and we both got work early tomorrow morning." Kelsey guided him through to the bedroom and told him to get comfy. In contrast, she got ready for bed in the connected bathroom. Kelsey took her PJs into the bathroom, washed up, and put her dirty clothes in the laundry hamper. When she returned to her bedroom, Rafael was lightly snoring on her side of the bed. Kelsey turned the light off and got into the opposite side of the bed, hoping not to wake her soulmate up. As she started to drift off to sleep, she felt Rafael pull her into his chest. He wrapped his arm around her waist and kissed her shoulder. Kelsey never felt so safe then what she did at that moment.

Chapter 1. The Case Against Fairytales
'his eyes across a room tangled up in her imagination they had spent a lifetime together by the time he said hello' atticus
My brother died the same way he came into the world: silent, eyes closed, changing my life as I knew it.
We spent our whole lives trying to convince anyone we could that we were as regular as they were, but here's the first fundamentally different thing when you are royal: the meaning of the word ‘everyone’.
In our case, we usually mean anyone in the country, most of the international media, and at least a sizeable majority of the world's population. It's not that everyone knew us... it's just that enough people did. Enough for it to be easier to call them 'everyone'.
When my brother Louis was born, mom had been rushed to the hospital in the middle of a Sunday afternoon. The press was notified, they promptly set up camp at the hospital entrance, and the people started prayer campaigns to the safe arrival of their new prince and heir. Everyone rejoiced at his arrival. I remember, I was there.
At three years-old, it felt like everyone was every single person in the planet. It was mostly just the people in our country; to everyone else, his birth was a quick, short line of announcement, maybe some notice to the fact that the newborn baby boy was taking his older sister's place as heir, and not much else.
When he died, everyone was every single person in the planet. The second thing fundamentally different when you are a royal: from a very early age you must learn that tragedy sells more than joy. And in any constitutional monarchy country, a royal family is merely another commodity.
A few people talked about my early graduation from University. A lot more people talked about my boyfriend breaking up with me. There were a few articles about my little sister's victory at the ice-skating junior final. When she fell on her face in front of the cameras while attempting a risky move, she went viral. When my brother came into our lives, a few people took notice.
When he left us, everyone did.
---- ---- ---- ----
I, too, am a victim of culture appropriation. Since the dawn of time, from the moment humankind developed communication skills, there has been storytelling. And for the past few thousands of years most stories that parents tell their young as they tuck them into their blankets every night, have been about my culture. As far as that goes, it is not the most damaging kind of culture appropriation. But I have a duty today, and I will not shy away from it. I am sorry to say I must, and will, shatter the beautiful image of fairytales that kids have been fed for so many years now.
I know what you are thinking – oh, boo-hoo, the poor little princess girl; is life too difficult in your beautiful palace with all the money a person could ever need? And yes, I know. I am not a victim. The same colonialism that placed my ancestors, and therefore, me, in the position of privilege and power I am in today has created many more actual victims around the world. But that is also why I must tell this story the way it was always meant to be told: truthfully. With all the weird, awkward, awful, bits and pieces that fairytales tend to skip.
Fairytales would, for instance, skip straight to the grand, majestic welcome ceremony between the Queen of the United Kingdom and the King of Savoy in a sun floored courtyard with guards on tall, furry black hats strutting around, standing in a red-carpeted dais, with a handsome prince making eyes at me. But in my story, we will start with the train.
That’s right, in modern fairytales you don’t take a lovely carriage ride to a neighboring kingdom. You take a train there – a commercial train, if you can, because modern times beg for demonstrating to the masses that the Monarch isn’t throwing money around. We were trying to highlight the easy routes of access to our neighbors to the northeast, and so we took the ferry across the Celtic Sea to Hugh Town Island and from there, Eurostar number 2 train that made a quick stop in Penzance, UK, and then went straight to London.
The train ride isn’t comfortable – even if you have a first class private car. It’s bumpy and crowded and a terrible place to spend three straight hours. On that particular morning, I was in our car with my father, his household secretary Auguste, my private aide, Cadie, and a few other staff members.
In fairytale world, when a princess does not look the part, there is usually the appearance of a fairy godmother who sings a nice song and magically transforms her into a Proper Princess™. There is no fairy godmothers when you are a real princess- real ones, sure, but they are not magical-, but you do learn from an early age what a Proper Princess™ should look like, act like, and sound like, and god forbid you don't.
In the train that day, I heard all that was keeping me from being Proper™ from Auguste, who was in many ways the exact opposite of a fairy godmother. He had all the menacing authority of one, with none of the charm. He also didn’t have wings or a sparkly wand; he had greying short hair, and thin, small, reading glasses that he always pushed down to the tip of his nose to look above, which made me wonder what was the point of the glasses at all.
Before our arrival, I had to change my lipstick, which was too dark, my dress, which was too short at the daring height of above my knees, my shoes, which were open toed and therefore wrong, and finally, make sure to brush my hair once more.
My parents never subscribed to the idea that we were forbidden to do anything. They were raised on stern rules and heavily traditional costumes and wanted their kids to live more freely. So, growing up, they revolutionarily told us that we were free to be whoever we wanted to be – in private. In public, we had an obligation to be Proper™. After all, as I heard repeatedly growing up: royals don’t make mistakes, we make history; and history remembers.
So, yes. I, a grown, 25 years-old, law-school graduate, bar-approved acquisitions lawyer, changed out of my dress into a more proper one because my dad asked. Because as a princess, you’re never just yourself; you’re the country. And if your country comes from a Roman Catholic tradition, your hemlines must reflect that, no matter what century it is.
The country in question was just to the south of the United Kingdom, west of France, a large island named Savoie. The English call it Savoy, which is how it was pronounced anyway. It was originally populated by the Irish, but over the years it was conquered by the English, the Spanish, and the Portuguese until finally, in the 13th Century, it was conquered by France. It was bigger than Ireland, but smaller than England, and one of the biggest GDPs in the world, with a population of 49 million. Under the reign of Louis XV, however, France lost most of its possessions after its defeat in the Seven Years' War, and to secure Savoy, the king sent part of the court to live there and to reign in his stead as his emissaries. Louis XV's reign grew weak, including his ill-advised financial, political and military decisions, which discredited the monarchy and arguably led to the French Revolution 15 years after his death. France dealt with its dissatisfaction by revolting, Savoy however, secluded away at sea, decided to declare independence before the Revolution had even taken steam. The political leaders of the Island reached an agreement with the king's emissary, Prince Louis, the highest ranking monarch on the island; in exchange for support for the severance of all connection to France, he was then made King Louis I of Savoy. The Royal House of Savoy grew steady and strong by protecting its people and assuring them a freer, better life than the one they'd known under French reign.
A few years later, I sat on that train in front of the current King of Savoy. My father.
“You look beautiful, Maggie.”
“Thank you.”
“The other dress was beautiful as well. Just not for today.”
“Mm-hm.”
A moment of silence went by. I picked up my phone and checked my emails. There was one from Sophie with the subject ‘urgent!’ so I clicked in it feeling my heart race.
It read,
‘Marie, I’m sorry to bother you on your days off, but the depositions got moved up to Monday and we can’t find the notes on the manager deposition, you were the one who did them. Is there any chance you have a copy and if so can you send them to me? Enjoy England! XO Soph’
Sighing, I put down my phone and quickly found my laptop on my suitcase. I turned it on as I replied to Sophie’s email to tell her to expect my deposition notes shortly.
“You know if we could I’d let you wear whatever you wanted.” Dad added as I logged into my computer.
“I do.”
I moved quickly through my folders realizing the most recent update on my notes hadn’t been uploaded to the cloud. Sighing, I logged on to the train WiFi and checked the storage service online. It didn’t connect.
“Honestly, darling, you look even prettier with this dress.”
I looked up, mentally wondering if the previous versions of the notes would be useful.
“This isn’t about the dress.”
I realized, then, that it wouldn’t matter anyway because I wouldn’t be able to send them to Sophie without internet. I looked out the window, realizing perhaps too late that we were in the tunnel, underwater. Of course there wasn’t internet.
“Well, what is it about?” Dad asked, putting his book marker back inside the page he was on and laying down the book to give me his full attention.
“Work, papa. I have a job.”
“Yes, and it’s your day off. Maybe you should try and turn off from work for the next few days?”
I smiled down to my computer, “maybe this is a conversation for another time.”
Dad adjusted his posture, looking a little taller, and looked around the room to Cadie and Auguste sitting in a booth nearby with our private hair and make-up artist, and dad’s footman, and personal aide.
“Excuse me, everyone, would you be so kind as to give us the room? Or, uh, the car? There is a little lounge outside, isn’t there?”
“Of course, sir.” Auguste said, jumping up immediately with the aide, and Cadie and Cass, the make-up artist, followed.
After they had left and closed the door behind them, I looked at my father. He lurched back in his seat and smiled at me.
“Go on,” he said. “If you don’t scream I don’t think they’ll hear us.”
“Why would I scream?”
“I don’t know, Maggie. But I don’t know why you would be so passive aggressive, either. Can you tell me?”
“What do you want, dad?”
In truth, I added the ‘dad’ at the end of the sentence to make it sound less aggressive, but as he stared at me, I felt uncomfortable not explaining myself.
“I’m here, aren’t I?”, I asked, tiredly. “I’m here, wearing a proper, long, not-slutty dress-“
“No one here used that word-“
“My toes will be perfectly hidden away when we arrive, I have hidden my ugly, evil legs under some stockings-“
“Really, Maggie, no one said your legs were-“
“My make-up is light and my hair is simple and non-threatening. I know not to smile too much or too little and to let the adults lead the conversation”, I said, the word ‘adults’ dangling bitterly from me lips. “And not to walk ahead of you, but always behind, taking your lead.”
“You make it sound so stiff and calculated.”
“And I have taken time off of work to be here.” I said. “All other Junior Associates are working overtime and through weekends to cash in as many billable hours as possible to be promoted to Full-time Associates, and instead I took off four days to travel with my dad.”
“Work, for work!”
“So, again, what do you want? How else am I not meeting your expectations?”
I spoke calmly, gently, and as low a volume as I could just to confront his joke not a minute before about how if I didn’t scream the others wouldn’t hear us. I made sure to be as poised and contained as I could. He heaved a sigh.
“I’m sorry you had to take time off work.”
I waited, as he stared in his usual lovingly, patient way. I smiled, more as a peace offering than genuinely.
“You know very well they won’t fire you.”
Still, I was quiet, smiling as sincerely as I could.
“And I know that isn’t fair, but there’s nothing I can do about it. So tell me something I can do and I will.”
“Okay.” I said, nodding. “I want your honesty. Don’t treat me like a child you need to protect, don’t patronize me. All I want is an honest answer.”
He adjusted himself in his seat and cleared his throat. “Alright. Go on.”
“Why am I here, papa?”
He blinked, seemingly confused. I could tell he expected a harder question.
“Your- Because your mother sprained her ankle?” he answered, still unsure. “What- do you mean philosophically? Why are any of us here, really? I don’t understand.”
I tried not to smile. “I mean I have a life. I am not your heir. Louis is your heir, it is his job to help you when mom has emergencies.”
He sighed deeply, finally arriving at the same page where I was.
“Your brother is in school.” He said. “And you are our oldest child. So, I’m sorry if it disrupts your life, Maggie. But you are needed.”
“And after school?” I asked “His graduation is in 6 months. Are you telling me that after he graduates university and moves back home, when he is starting his career, maybe moving to the capital, when you and mom have an emergency, you will call him up instead of me?”
He gave the table a sad smile. “If that is your wish, yes.”
“So that’s all, then?” I confirmed, suspiciously. “He moves back after graduation and you will give me the space I need?”
He smiled. “Is that what you want, then?” it wasn’t a confirmation. It was a tone of accomplishment. Of finally realizing what was it that I wanted, as if this entire conversation that’s what he had been trying to find out.
“I went to school for years. I interned for a year. I studied hard for the bar exams in America and Savoy. Yes, dad, I want to use the degree I worked hard for.”
“Okay, then. We will give you space.” He said. “Space from us, to be who you want to be. To be normal.”
I rolled my eyes, smiling, slightly amused at his dramatics. “That is not what I meant.”
“But it is accurate.”
“Papa...” I sighed.
“I’m just saying, sweetheart, I understand.” He insisted. “It’s why you went to America for University, it’s why you are based on the capital now. As long as you’re too close to us, you can’t live a normal life.”
“I can never live a normal life. We are not normal.”
“But you wish to try.”
I chuckled. “How?! You said it yourself, they will never fire me. My firm, I mean. Wherever I am, I am never just me and my degree and my career. People look at me and see you, as if I am you. I am their King. I am the Royal Family of Savoy. They’ll never take me seriously or afford me the same opportunities as everyone, because I am not everyone.”
He nodded, slowly, then sighed. “Yikes. You’re right. That sounds tough.”
“And I’m the passive aggressive one?”
“Job security and the attention of your bosses. That sounds awful.”
“Papa...”
“You want the space to dedicate yourself to your career without us pulling you away for royal work. Is that it? Okay. You got it. As soon as your brother is back from University, I will make sure you’re only needed for official events, and only if you’re not working.”
He sounded serious now. Sincere as when he delivered the End of Year address every Christmas, which was meaningful. Getting dad to afford me the same seriousness he afforded his subjects was as much seriousness as I could get from him. Still, there was no mistaking the sadness in his eyes.
“Even before his affirmation ceremony?” I asked, trying to sniff around for a trick.
The affirmation ceremony was meant to make clear to the country that an heir to throne had the seal of approval of the Monarch, and it usually happened when the heir was 21 years of age, to signify the Monarch believed in the event of a tragedy, the heir was ready to rule.  In modern times, it meant an heir was ready to start working as a full-time royal. Though my brother was 22, the family had decided to wait until he had graduated university to do his ceremony.
Dad took longer than I wished, but finally, he nodded. “Yes. I promise.”
If you’re paying attention, then you might have noticed the math doesn’t add up. How come my 22 years-old brother is the heir when I said I am 25, the oldest child? Well, as with most fairytales, as well as with most of life, the problem is the patriarchy. For the thing is, though I was older than Louis by three years, because I was born a girl, he became the heir when he was born. So, at three, I went from future-Queen to lower ranking older sister.
It wasn’t unusual, my father himself had two older sisters who were lower than him and his brothers in the line of succession. As a result we had older cousins who we outranked. I cared about all this at 25 the same as when I was 3: not at all.
Absolute primogeniture law was passed in Savoy when I was 5, propelled by my birth and the new times. It was, however, not retroactive. This meant the law was changed for future births, not past ones, so all girls born after the law came into effect would be heirs in their own right, no matter how many brothers they got after, and all girls born before would go into history as having missed it by ‘just a bit’.
Louis and I, though, didn’t sit around having long discussions about who would be a better ruler. There has never been an instance in which we were arguing and I yelled something like, “first you stole my throne and now you stole my cookies! I hate you!”. For us this was just a little footnote in the family tree. A little fun fact to tell our future kids one day. And although I couldn’t remember what it felt like, I always knew it was much better not having to be the Crown Princess of Savoy.
---- ---- ---- ----
When we finally reached Penzance, the small town in the tip of the isle of England where sat the second Eurostar station, I was able to finally connect to the internet. My father left our train car to walk about with his security because he wanted to witness the new English policy of installing a check-point at the entry due to the immigrant crisis – a huge part of why we were there. While he did that, I sent Sophie my notes on the deposition, and answered some messages.
There was one from Louis, my aforementioned brother:
‘are you close?’
And one from our baby sister, Lourdes:
‘what do you think??!!!!!!!!’, with an attachment of two videos.
And, lastly, one from my mother, Her Majesty Queen Amelie-Elyse, back home with a sprained ankle.
‘Hope all is well! Let me know when you’re with your brother. Don’t forget to let your hair down before leaving the train!’
She didn’t mean it in a philosophical, have fun kind of way. She literally meant let my hair down, apparently it softened my features.
I replied to her with a selfie, with my hair properly brushed and down, in preparation for the arrival in London, which was close now. Let Louis know we were almost there. And sent a quick, uncommitted ‘woah!’ to my sister, without opening her attachments. They were always the same: videos of her practicing. There was only so much ice skating I could watch in a lifetime.
My mom answered my text with, “why did you change your dress?!”
I sighed, getting ready to justify this decision as well, already anticipating she would argue that the fascinator wouldn’t go with this one dress, so I told her I already had another fascinator standing by.
Growing up with fairytales they don’t tell you about the little annoying details. Characters who are annoying usually are the villains, the ones the Princess escapes from, usually saved by the prince. They don’t tell you sometimes, actually a lot of the times, the people you love can be equally as annoying.
---- ---- ---- ----
When we arrived at the station in London, I was already wearing my disc fascinator in a light shade of blue matching both my lace dress, this time reaching all the way to my ankles, and eyes. We were quickly greeted by the Savoyen Ambassador to England in front of the press, and escorted into government cars towards Whitehall.
The large parade ground was a traditional courtyard in central London that usually housed ceremonies related to the military and the royal family. When we arrived, the day finally was washed in a feeling of ceremony.
The place was lined neatly with military guards, security barricades and the Scotland Yard Police kept watchers and paparazzi at bay, the press lined up inside to have the best view of all involved. As we arrived, the traditional 41 gun salute was already sounding on. A military band was playing. People waved and yelled hello as we drove inside. I suddenly knew what to do, as if my body had the gene for it. This was one thing that was definitely genetic.
I stepped out of the car delicately, smoothly, knees together like a proper lady, polite smile on my lips in thanks to the guard who saluted as I left. My father greeted a handler who escorted us to the front of all the lined guards, where three structures had been set up: one large one in the middle, with a red-carpeted stage and a large roof, the British Royal Coat of Arms in the center with the British flag to its right and the Savoy flag to its left. Decorative flowers and elegant plants here and there. Two smaller, simpler structures to both of its sides. Inside all of them, men and women in formal suits and ties and knee-length, appropriate dresses and hats.
We walked the grovel path to the larger structure as the band played and the press, lined up in front of this platform, took their photographs. My father climbed the steps first, quickly being received by the small, elder, lady in a lavender overcoat and matching hat, impressive set of pearls dangling from her neck. She smiled as he lowered himself down to kiss both her cheeks warmly.
The queen then looked at me and I approached, just as our handler told Her Majesty:
“And may I present, Her Royal Highness, Princess Marie-Margueritte of Savoy.”
I lowered myself in a curtsy, and as she extended her hands to hold mine, I also kissed her cheeks, trying to avoid knocking her hat with mine.
“Welcome.” She smiled. “I hope the ride was forgiving.”
“Very comfortable.” My father told her. “Always surprising how fast it is.”
“Yes. You’ll remember, I’m sure, the Prince of Wales.” She said, walking us to the center of the platform where another two men awaited.
My father and the Prince of Wales greeted each other warmly, they were more used to running in the same circles – royal weddings here and there, international summits and meetings, or whatever it is they do.
“We’re so glad to have you.” He told my father.
“I don’t know if you’ve met my daughter, Princess Marie-Margueritte.”
Smiling, I curtsied to the Prince of Wales as he held my hand, before kissing my cheeks.
“You brighten this day, Your Royal Highness.” He told me, before stepping closer to add, in a whisper. “Sorry you have been dragged to this.”
I giggled, “I’m happy to be here, sir.”
Straightening up, he noticed my father was already greeting the man behind him. “Hopefully we won’t bore you too much. I have tried to bring someone else closer to your age. Have you met my son?”
The handler didn’t know it, but there were no introductions necessary. And yet, all I could do was smile politely as we were introduced to:
“His Royal Highness, Prince Harry of Wales.”
I wondered, for a moment, if he would acknowledge that we already knew each other.
“It’s a pleasure, Your Royal Highness.” Holding my hand in his, he brought my knuckles to his lips.
The answer was, obviously, no. So I lowered myself again in a curtsy as an excuse to avert my eyes from his.
I couldn’t understand why, but I had been unprepared for him. With all of Auguste’s preparation, all the briefings, with all the preachings about my appearance, no one had prepared me for him. I don’t know if it was that, like me, he was one of the youngest there, or how absurdly, almost ridiculously tall he was, or maybe how the blue in his eyes contrasted with the red of his hair, but he just… stunned me. When he kissed my hand, his eyes traveled down my legs all the way back to pierce mine, igniting a wave of electricity down my spine I was unable to control.
He leaned back, and there we stood, hand in hand, wordlessly.
“You can follow the King, ma’am.” Auguste whispered behind me, his voice making me jump slightly, as I quickly pulled my hand from Harry’s, not before realizing he had something scribbled on his palm.
My father and the Queen were deep in conversation, with Charles besides them, as they reached the center of the platform to watch the guards. The Queen in the middle, my father to her right, and the Prince of Wales to her left, I walked forward to stand beside my father, while Prince Harry walked to his.
We waited just a moment, and then the band started playing the Savoy National Anthem, and the British Anthem after it. A few words said, more ceremony here and there, and the Prince Wales formally invited my father to inspect the Guards, so they left together, accompanied by one of the military leaders to walk among the rolls of guards,  as the three of us stood behind to watch.
“I was sorry to hear about your mother, ma’am.”
“Thank you, Your Majesty.” I said, looking regretful, walking towards her, closing the gap left behind by the others. “She was sorry she couldn’t be here.”
“I hope it’s nothing serious.” Prince Harry interjected.
“A sprained ankle.” I explained, looking ahead.
“Harry is also here after a small hiccup with the Duchess of Cornwall, my daughter-in-law.” His grandmother told me. “An illness in her family, nothing serious.”
“Hopefully I’ll have time to meet her before we leave.”
“Oh, I’m sure.” She nodded. “How did you mother hurt herself?”
“Horse fall. She was never very fond of Polo, I’m afraid this will drive her further away from it.”
“Oh, that is regretful.” The Queen said.
Harry looked at me. “Do you play?”
“I do, sir.”
“Harry is very good,” his grandmother told me, “he will be the one playing with you in the charity match in the coming days.”
“I look forward to-“, I started, but Harry had started the exact same sentence. We locked eyes, and chuckled.
“You first.” I said.
“Please, I insist.” He responded, cheeks reddening.
His grandmother looked between us, and then back to the uniformed men in front. She then said, in a low tone, something I would spend a large part of the upcoming months thinking obsessively about:
“Be careful with him... He will charm you, but he is a heartbreaker.”
The words astonished me so much I looked at her, unsure she had actually said them. But she had, clearly, because Harry was also looking at her, quite shocked.
“Granny!” he complained, in such a whiny tone I broke into laughter.
“Do I lie?” She asked him, grinning. It only made him look more shocked.
“Don’t ruin my reputation in front of foreign royals!” he said, in a low tone, before looking at me. “Specially such pretty ones.”
My giggle froze in my throat under his intense glare, and I could feel my cheeks reddening.
The Queen looked at me. “Oh, you’re blushing. It’s too late, I see.”
It was.

Margueritte’s outfit
The ask box is open! Let me know your thoughts? And if at all possible, like this page so I know you liked it? Thank you so much!
[A/N: Attention: by continuing to read you are accepting that some sad stuff is coming. You been warned. Thanks for checking this out! Let me know your thoughts?? thanks!!!!]
[A/N2: Hey! Nat here. I wanted to talk a little more about the story we are about to go on together.
In the upcoming chapters you will be introduced to the Royal Family of Savoy, a fictitious European country right below the UK, to left of France. When I first posted a fanfiction, FIUYMI, I made the main character latina, since that’s what I am, and I had previously felt that I couldn’t relate to other characters I had read. In this one, however, I decided I wanted to write about a fictitious monarchy, and I knew I wanted to make it as realistic as possible.
As much as I wanted at many points in the story to make the character look more like me, the idea felt like cheating: Margueritte is a blood royal, born to a life of specific privileges and hardships, and pretending she could look like the type of people who don’t have white privilege would be trying to ignore a very real issue: all monarchies - past and present - existed, lasted and gathered riches on the back of people of color. Most of their descendants still carry white and wealth privilege because these royal families, however many years ago, supported and perpetuated colonialism and white supremacy that left countless countries and their populations still recovering today.
That is a legacy Margueritte didn’t chose, and which she also doesn’t have to face, but in this story she will chose too. As you’ll see, she finds herself in a much more influential position she thought she would have, and as such she realizes she has two options: she can stick to the message her family - and other royal families - have perpetuated for generations and keep her head high, mouth and ears shut, so their legacy can survive; or she can chose to be a modern Queen who will make the institution relevant again. I want to write about this because this issue is important for the times we live in, particularly after the way the Duchess of Sussex was treated in the United Kingdom.
What that will look like will depend on who Margueritte is as a person and whose advice she takes, and that is a journey I hope you’ll take with us =) ]

⤍ Part 2
Mafia Boss
Growing up behind the gates inside a huge mansion as your father and eldest twin brothers deal in illegal drug trafficking and street racing wasn't exactly ideal for you. You hated it, hated the fat that your family sold drugs and build a massive emperor out of it. You hated the fact that you eldest brother street raced every other night claiming 'These streets' as their own. In the end it worked, dad got the Estate he's always wanted, surrounded by bodyguards 24/7 with millions to follow.
But with the money came the enemies. The constant danger around every corner for not only him but also the entire family. You questioned why he even wanted this in the first place but gave up once the answers started getting scary.
So with another mouthful of Ben and Jerry's choc chip cookie dough ice cream you huffed and got off the couch, finally feeling the urge leave prison. You made your way through the 'house', only in your pj's and came across you dads office on the first floor. You sighed inwardly once you saw Harry and Gary standing outside the door in guard.
''Hey Harry, how's the kids?'' You asked friendly, getting alone quite well with both him and Gary. You knew them both since you were in diapers. The both of them felt more like they were friends of the family rather then bodyguards.
''They're going good, Ashley started pre-school last week and already managed to create chaos'' his youngest was always trouble, especially when she came over and you got to babysit her. You nodded along and laughed.
''She's growing up that one'' Gary piped in causing us all to smile. Tugging the silk robe tighter around my body I nod towards the door wondering if it was okay for me to go in. At times we had men that would be over and dad would put at least three guards on me saying they were 'dangerous'. Of course they were, but I knew what that code was for, it was for his enemies. The people he pissed off or was about to.
''Can I go in?'' Both Harry and Gary glanced at each other and shake their heads, not even bothering to mic in to ask my father.
''Not right now pumpkin, he's in a meeting''
''That's what you always say'' I comment back a little annoyed. Gary just smiles and pats me on the head like he use to when I was a child and like always, I grimace.
''For real this time, come back later'' you furrowed your eyebrows together. Your dad had promised he'd take you out today for some father-daughter time. What has come up now?
''But he promised-''
''We know'' This time it was Harry who spoke up. I surrendered and turned to walk away with a scowl. This was so unfair.
''He's sorry'' Gary calls out to me even though I was already half way down the hall. I just nod to myself sadly.
''He always is''
~*~*~*~*
Given that the previous day was non-eventful you were determined to make this one better. You were almost fed up that you wanted to just walk into the office but knew that wasn't the smartest idea. He would kill you.
You woke up in the same pj's as yesterday and hopped down the stairs towards the kitchen and smiled over at Maria as she prepared breakfast.
''Qué estás haciendo (What are you doing) Darling? Please, go shower'' you giggled and plopped yourself down in front of her.
''Ya tengo (I have already) Miss Maria, Qué hay para desayunar (What is for breakfast)?'' You learnt Spanish from Maria since you were 5 years old, it was almost as if it was your second language.
''Very nice'' Maria complimented earning a cheeky smile from you. You reached your hand across the counter quickly and snatched a piece of toast happily popping it in your mouth. Maria scolded you in Spanish as you just smiled.
''I'll give breakfast to dad this morning'' You spoke up after swallowing the mouthful of food. Maria glanced up and shook her head.
''Nonsense Corazoncita (Little heart), I'll have it up shortly'' Even she was acting strange this morning as were Gary and Harry yesterday.
''It's on my way'' You were leaving no room for arguing. You were sick of the hiding. You got up out of your seat once you saw one of the cooks place a plate down. Maria quickly shoot out to grab it before you had a chance to.
''Go upstairs and get changed, we'll have a girls day'' You furrowed your eyebrows at her weird behaviour. Something was definitely up.
''Maria, spill'' She frowned and slowly popped down the plate as she began to explain to you what was going on. You shook your head once she was finished, not believing what your dad was up to now.
''This is ridiculous'' With this you grabbed the plate and headed straight for his office. You managed to sneak past the two new bodyguards standing by his door and opened the doors, balancing the plate on your arm.
You eyes took a few seconds to realise your father was not alone. There were two new heads you have never seen before, both wearing expensive looking suits. All three were around the massive table, sheets, pens and glasses of water in front of them, a scared looking waiter in the corner. You swiftly placed the food down in front of your dad before glancing up to meet one of the men's gaze. He had soft chocolate brown eyes with brown disheveled hair, a small stubble that complimented his sharp jawline. The guy looked like he was sculptured by the gods.
It took your breath away until one of them cleared their throats. You could feel your fathers glare on you, his arm quickly tugging on yours.
''What the hell are you doing in here?'' He hissed quietly to you so only you heard. However, your gaze was still connected with the handsome devil not a few feet away from you. Shit, you were only in your pj's, you bet you looked awful.
''Breakfast...'' was all you mumbled. He quickly let you go and got two bodyguards to swiftly escort you out, a frown settling down on your face. As the doors slammed shut behind you, the two guards now blocking the door you scowled and turned to walk away.
You never got to find out what the hell was going on.
~*~*~*~*
Tom's pov#
''As I was saying, I am sure we can come to some sort of arrangement-'' I wanted to scoff at the old man. There was absolutely no way he was getting out of this.
''We can...'' My mind started racing back to moments before when the mysterious girl walked in. She was perfect for what I had in mind.
''I want the girl'' I could see the man visible freeze. So he was close to her, good. I glance over towards Harrison, my best friend and second in charge and smirked as he did the same.
''I'm sorry, that's simply not possible'' I folded my hands together and placed them on the table leaning over slightly. My eyes grew darker as I could feel my anger and annoyance begin to rise once again with the man.
''The girl or I take your whole Emperor'' I say menacingly, watching him squirm under my gaze.
''Do we have a deal?'' I ask, growing impatient. I had another appointment to get to and honestly, this guy was driving me up the wall. A minute longer here and I'd have him dead. He gulped visibly causing me to smirk.
''I-i'll g-g-et back to y-you'' I glance over at Harrison one last time before rising from the table suddenly, adjusting my suit while sending a warning smile towards Mr Y/L/N.
''I'll be in touch'' With that I turned around and walked towards the door, two men opening it for both Harrison and I. We turned down the hallway as my bodyguards followed suit, leading us out towards two black SUV'S. Sitting down in the backseat, a bodyguard closed the door as I popped out my phone, immediately beginning research on his precious girl.
His daughter? Well this just gets better and better.

So anyway, Mein Herz Brennt Making of liveblog, one of my favourites
First of all, I do take any use of piano MHB as a slight towards my tiny hands. -1 point
I really would love to visit this place, it's beautiful
I love that Oli introduces it and then Till is straight in there talking about murder and stabbings. Trust that to be what intrigues him. I feel like 'smells like murder' isn't a direct translation but that's purely because I spent like ten minutes trying to work out what words he says. It rhymes, which is suspicious.
Oh this was before he let his chest piercing reject all the way out in the grossest way
When schneider says Krankenhaus it sounds very Geordie and I'm convinced that kind of thing is why Auf Wiedersehen, Pet was created
Richards eyes light up when he's talking about the room he's in and it's one of those looks where it's just. I would love to listen to anything anyone has to say when their eyes have that sparkle.
"the scavengers had already been here" cue Paul talking about his criminal past thieving from there. See, another example everyone forgets of him being the biggest bastard of them all. The smile is a front.
One of my favourite ever Rammstein things is the combined joy and mockery from Paul when Richard is revealed to be wearing the bird mask and it wiggles as he nods. He looks like a little black cockatoo. Richard looks embarrassed to be wearing it but Paul is having the time of his LIFE.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The way is echoes in his mask makes him sound like he's clucking
Flakes glasses perching in his cone make him look like that sesame Street doctor or scientist
They all suit this make up so much and I wish they'd consider it as a stage look
Peck. Not intimidated.
Considering the nightmares Till has/had, ouch
Richard looks so much like a little vampire prince but like, a character from what we do in the shadows. He makes his own smokescreen entry/exist and everything.
Melanie!!!
Richard has many tendons in his neck huh.
The sounddd. I used to always be curious as to whether or not people in music videos were making the sounds it looks like they're making and now I know and I'm uncomfortable. This and also later when till does the heart
His laugh is never what I expect it to be
That uh. That doesn't look like he's in pain the way the injection sounds implied. At all. Not that I'm complaining but it gives mixed messages.
I'm so sure Richard is the only one I've ever heard use the word quasi. It makes sense for him if true but maybe I only notice because of the tone he uses? His is quite a punchy nasal tone it might just be more noticeable.
Till with kids is always the most adorable wonderful thing. He's really helping to keep them relaxed despite the creepiness of the stuff they're shooting.
"if you look at the cover then you'll recognise a morbidity to the whole thing" till, my darling, do you think people don't already ~see the morbidity~?
I googled and the lady doesn't pronounce renaissance with a g like Till does and that interests me. In fairness I have to assume it's like in Norwegian how words like restaurant are pronounced with a g sound because it's closer to the French sounds? It's not like we in English donut the French way either but the Google translate lady does. This is why I always suspect that when I'm learning a language I'm learning the language wrong and at some point I'll find out there's a Real, For Adults version if the language that's totally different. This is irrelevant. Accents are fun and I like being able to notice them.
It feels so strange seeing this knowing what Eugenio did
Paul taking pictures because he knows better than them
Something about a child saying "ah yes, I know Till and Flake very well" is hysterical.
You can feel the dismay and disapproval radiating off till as he tries to be diplomatic about the Spanish understanding of linear time. He struggles to find a positive and only comes up with the fire walls. "It should have gone out before we filmed anything because they were fucking around with the playback so long but it didn't" is his only compliment.
The German word for French is wild.
Do they know they could have hired an interpreter? Interpreters existed in 2012 I know this
This whole thing with Melanie is beautiful you can't deny that the arm Eugenio made with then was lovely.
Till in the dress with Melanie in his lap. I don't off the top of my head remember seeing it in either video so I simply must assume that it was just what he was wearing that day when he showed up. She's so tiny on his knee I'm glad they're still friends.
Tumblr media
"you're left in a state of trauma when everyone stares at you all the time" did this need to get so heavy? It's interesting that he focused more on her voice than her appearance there, though in fairness it's pretty high
They all love her so much and it's totally understandable.
Mit rock n roll und cola trinken
I have to skip the screaming the secondhand embarrassment is too much.
Part 2
Again, this liveblog is so long
Sometimes Oli speaks like his body isn't used to talking.
I want, so badly, to know if Richard was having memories of his dreadlocked youth The tiny cup in his elegant hand is so pleading and then you look left and. It sure is something.
Tumblr media
Are they freckles or acne scars across Tills shoulders?...cute. The first set of arm/chest wounds, not so much. I do spy his lil tummy scar
Richard does look like he almost swooped in for a kiss and then changed his mind because of the camera. Paul turns his head that way and then Richard tries to save with a step back and face rub (his own). Just saying.
Tumblr media
The fact that a few of them have taken pictures on their personal phones warms my soul it's such a nice reminder that they're good friends outside of work and My Heart
Schneider and Paul ready at a moment's notice to be Dumbasses. J'adore.
What if Zoran was more of a background character tho actually
God, schneider is beautiful. An ethereal, pure beauty that exists no matter how he's being styled.
See okay how is flake almost taller than Oli right now he's not even doing his standard open legs and swan spine thing
It must be so hard to find Oli sized clothes. Flake is also tall and slim but he's a lot more leg, whereas Olis height seems largely to be torso. I have to assume a lot of his stuff is tailored or custom made now.
I always forget about the marks on tills back when he's in the nightmare dress
The child staring with great confusion at a bright red flake reading. I would love to know what his favourite books are.
The childs plural poking and prodding at a very patient Oli, who gracefully bends his spine in ways I've never seen a human do before. I wonder if he's ever dressed up as Lurch from the Addams family.
Tumblr media
The actress playing the woman in this half is so beautiful and has a power her younger counterpart lacked when she was threatening him with her weapon.
I am a dummy and was like weird why is Paul speaking Norwegian. I know full well he wasn't saying unnskyld because I've heard Germans say their equivalent before and I assume Entschuldigen either sounds like that fast or shortens so what the fuck, rhi
Till guiding people through him murdering them is truly one of life's greatest pleasures. They trust him so completely. I would like to watch them dance the elegance would be astounding.
Paul lurking watching with what I choose to see as pride as till slaughters an old woman.
Paul being critical (again, as always, rightly so) of the hallway mouthing the lyrics decision.
"for this in prepared to make compromises" he says, hating every bitter word of it
I would like to know what he wanted to say about till and then see him get into trouble over it.
I would like to see till in a bouncy castle. He's adorable jumping into the comfy pit I want to see him in a bouncy castle. Child, utter child.
Paul takes every opportunity to say how hot he thinks they all are and I love that about him. Sometimes your friends are all hot and everybody needs to understand that fact.
Their approaches to pretending to play cello are all so uniquely them. Flake and Richard are taking the time to try and understand what they're being told, whereas Paul just fucking. Lays into it, attracting the weirdest looks from Oli. Richard looks beautiful with that cello and I think he should learn to play. For fun not for work. It's not just that he looks so handsome, but I think that's the easiest way to convince him. I think he'd be good at it, and not being the lead at something might be good for him.
Tumblr media
I appreciate that Oli is skeptical because yeah they do all look like they've never held a cello before.
They do, however, all look lovely in their dresses. I'm trying but actually I can't not say that Schneiders little sternum dip makes it seem like he has breasts in that dress and it's a good look for him.
Tumblr media
Till singing it in such a high voice, more like his speaking voice, is both interesting and lovely. Oli is trying... So little compared to the others. Laughably incorrect
Why yes, I am laughing at the sheer length of the spikes. They're just... They're so fucking long. So long.
Tumblr media
Paul is actually probably the best one there, ironically. They're all comically out of time. They're professional musicians. I know they aren't used to bowed instruments I do understand and I don't want to be uncharitable but also they are struggling. I want to see cellists react to this.
Pretty dresses! And the nightmare but with the most awful and worst fingers! Like the Grinch but goth.
Both Schneider and Richard had the same neverending shoot idea and I am Intrigued.
Till waiting for Schneider with the umbrella :)
Wir brennen! Paul is always so happy to play with fire.

(17k) Something We Were Withholding Made Us Weak by triedunture
Crowley and Aziraphale learn to move in tandem.
Mood: beautiful slow burn, misunderstandings, heartache that would be solved if someone taught these besotted idiots to communicate.
Paradox: Crowley has never risen from his seat and gone to stand behind someone at a counter, never put his arms around their middle and pulled them tight against him. Has never apologized with a touch, with a closeness, with the thin line of his body. So why does it occur to him that he might do that now? Might press up against Aziraphale from behind and rest his forehead on Aziraphale’s nape and ask silently to be forgiven. As if it’s the most natural thing in the world when he knows, intimately knows that it’s not.
(51k) how deep the sand by Handful_of_Silence
After the Apocalypse, and with characteristic slowness, both Crowley and Aziraphale think there might be something they need to sit down and talk about.
And then Aziraphale disappears.
Mood: tragic twist of fate, separation, hurt/comfort, guilt & devotion.
He thinks about the picnic they’d have had. He’d have pulled the top down from the Bentley and let the wind tussle his hair, the weather of a glorious August now gone warming his skin. They would have chatted, sitting carefully on a tartan blanket, and they’d have made their own plans.
They might have even found the right time to talk properly. Honestly. About everything that’s been, about the possibilities that could be now that everything’s different.
About maybe not going back to London. Going back to their Jobs.
About leaving it all behind, together.
The words Crowley didn’t say are clogging up his throat.
(14k) Made Flesh by rfsmiley / @redfacesmiley
AU in which Crowley is two entities, and Aziraphale isn’t sure how he feels about either of them.
Mood: oblivious idiots, daemon!fic-if-you-squint, pining & tamed desire.
Eleven years pass, attended by another marked change; the creature cannot bear to be out of the same room as Aziraphale. The angel, isolated and frayed as he is by the fear of the coming war, has no problems with this development – he needs the company – although sometimes he looks into the yellow eyes and feels the spear of a nameless sorrow. If it comes to it, Heaven will win, of course; the certainty, however, is bitter. He tries not to think about what will happen to Crowley, or to this small being that runs at his heels as he moves, gripped by a contagious agitation.
(8k) Ad Astra by drawlight / @drawlight
Some things can only be said in the dark.
Mood: beautiful prose, longing, ruthless inner-voices & insecurities.
Aziraphale swallows. His eyes hold Crowley’s. Crowley stands very still, wretched. Terrified. Watching Aziraphale’s very wide eyes, the open of the mouth. There is a softness in Aziraphale’s look, in the swallow of his throat. It could be? (It might not be.) He wants to scream it; he wants to say nothing at all. Let me stay in this bit of maybe. Maybe is not no, maybe means perhaps, someday. Maybe means you might feel the same. (You might not.)
(13.3k) Alegría by drawlight / @drawlight
After the End That Wasn’t, Heaven and Hell are leaving them alone. Entirely alone. (This is a story with nothing of miracles.)
Mood: beautiful prose, longing, ruthless inner-voices & insecurities + domesticity
(Yes, I know the mood is almost the same as above, but honestly this is @drawlight, what were you expecting? Read it if you want a Crowley that will absolutely wreck you & leave you heart-broken.)
Aziraphale is a touch-strong man. He touches everything (Crowley knows, he always watches). Aziraphale loves and he likes to love through his skin. His fingers on a particularly fine leather binding, dipping into the embossed author, the tooled name of the title. His hands breaking apart a loaf of Italian sourdough, fingers coming away with residual flour. Dipping his hands into sacks of grain, rubbing a fine weave of silk through. He touches Crowley too, in his usual and gentle way. The touch on the arm to still Crowley’s whiplash self, to make a point during an argument. Aziraphale who thinks nothing of oh, my dear, you’ve got an eyelash just there, let me get it for you. Crowley has a good memory. He catalogs them all, cross-examines them. Six-thousand years of maybes and what-ifs and what was thats ? But Aziraphale is just as easy with his touches on glass bottles while pulling out his favorite vintages. He touches his favorite fountain pen far more often than he reaches for Crowley. No, in context, it means nothing. It’s just Aziraphale as usual. Don’t look too closely, it doesn’t mean anything. It doesn’t.
(13k) small infinities and all that by JustStandingHere / @billypotts
Crowley and Aziraphale are turned human. This is the aftermath.
Mood: slow burn, domesticity, best friends falling in love & all the beautiful awkwardness that entails.
And there it is, isn’t it? Something they’ve known for a long time, but haven’t named it. Have been too scared to name it. Something that speaks in their bones, in the space between them.
(12k) the deft, sweet gesture of your hand by deadgreeks / @mortuarybees
Crowley arrives injured at Aziraphale’s door. He takes care of him, reads him an awful lot of Mary Oliver, and knits elaborate metaphors for his insecurities (literally).
Mood: beautiful writing, mixed signals, feeling unworthy of the millenia-long object of your affections, unable to create gifts that are good enough for the people you love and being in love with a complete idiot.
Aziraphale has tended to the sick and injured during periods of plague and war many times throughout his long life, and he tries to adopt the same kind-but-impersonal detachment as he carefully washes Crowley. It is slightly harder, Crowley being the sole object of six thousand years of repressed desire, but he’s also Aziraphale’s closest friend, and a person besides, so he does him the courtesy of not ogling his bare legs or torso as he goes.
(9.3k) Slow by write_away / @theirdarkreturning
Aziraphale and Crowley find themselves somehow married. Crowley fears going too fast. Aziraphale forges ahead. Neither know how to ask questions of each other.
Mood: Miscommunication, with a hefty side order of pining and the urge to yell at your screen in the vain hopes of getting through to these two idiots.
For Crowley - that was the demon’s name, and it’s best to memorize it quickly, before he changes it yet again - knew that the angel would love him if he just asked, and Aziraphale - the angel, though there’s no rush with him, there never really is - knew that the demon would take him in with open arms if he just asked. It’s just that neither of them were good at asking things of one another.
(14.7) Lead me to the banquet hall by obstinatrix, wishwellingtons
Crowley loves taking Aziraphale out to eat almost as much as Aziraphale loves eating, but it’s always a bit of a one-sided affair. Aziraphale has never understood why. Crowley planned on keeping it that way, but best laid plans…
Mood: wonderful footnotes, pining, creating a shrine to the object of your longing and then submitting to the mortifying ordeal of them finding it.
The thing about Aziraphale is quite simply this: Crowley can never have enough of him. God, Satan, everyone knows he’s tried. Crowley has spent centuries glutting himself on the sight of him only to be empty again days later, wondering whether it’s too soon to show his face in the bookshop. Aziraphale drifts from brasserie to bar in his quest to indulge in the best of human culinary expertise; Crowley follows after, because he knows Aziraphale will be there. It isn’t enough, but it’s something, and the only thing Crowley can ever expect.
(14.2k) all i need, darling, is a life in your shape       by deadgreeks / @mortuarybees
After everything, Aziraphale and Crowley, by unspoken agreement, begin sharing their lives.
Mood: domesticity with pining, chosen family, acts of love, boyfriend sweaters & idiots in love.
Aziraphale rolled his eyes indulgently, passing out the rest of the gifts and sneaking little glances at Crowley as he struggled with the box. He’d worked so hard on it, searched all the best yarn shops in London for the perfect skeins. He even had to sit on hold for hours with the manufacturer of the yarn he chose because he needed another skein from the same dye-lot, knowing that Crowley would want only the best, and he’d notice even a minor inconsistency in the coloring.
(27k) Long Is The Way, And Hard by Kate_Lear
A story of Crowley’s thoughts about Aziraphale, from the Beginning to the present day.
And also of temptation, and want, and whether - for a Fallen Angel - redemption is possible after all.
Mood: slow burn, denial, temptation, jealousy, lust to love, character growth.
Aziraphale hasn’t shared his bed with anyone. He can’t have done, because if he has then Crowley is going to hunt down that mortal – in this world or the next – and enact something creatively and comprehensively bloody upon them. Possibly involving methods from the Spanish Inquisition, that have scabbed over in Crowley’s memory and that he shies away from picking at.
(25.7k) your weekend lover by witching
Mood: miscommunication, mutual pining, ineffable idiots who are on the same page but reading a different damn book
It was purely physical, they had agreed on that from the beginning. Aziraphale couldn’t quite remember why he had agreed to that, but he suspected it had something to do with not ruining their friendship, or some such nonsense. At any rate, that was the deal. The new Arrangement. Purely physical.
(16k) I’ve Got You To Help Me Forgive by Kate Andrews (k8andrewz)
Pt1: Crowley deals, more or less, with the Fall. Also, Crowley has feelings. The angel doesn’t help with that. Also, sunny rocks are very nice.
Pt2: In which tea is made, a story is shared, and a leap of faith is taken.
Mood: Lust, first times, innocence, ineffable sex, memory wipes, Aziraphale showing initiative and being a bit of a bastard, overwhelmed Crowley, Gabriel is a total dick. Fair warning this isn’t PWP, it has loads of plot and feelings too and fantastic characterizations.
The air in Crowley’s lungs took leave of him all at once. Memories he hadn’t given a good look at in ages resurfaced. Memories he’d quite ably buried, thank you very much and he sat up abruptly, leaning forward and propping his elbows on his knees. He set his sunglasses on the table, then pressed his face into his palms and gave it a good scrub. After a sidelong glance at Aziraphale who sat there patiently watching him, he asked, “What am I supposed to do with a question like that, hmm?”
(13.9k) The Lightness of You by Rend_Herring
God should not have built them with such discrepancy, made them need for love, and long for wholeness, then left them to their own devices.
Mood: When you want to mix up your pining & angst with a bit of humour, sex and a praise kink.
The jasmine vine actually tries brushing up against Aziraphale’s cheek and he blushes, says, “Oh, you,” all indulgent and sweet-like.  It leaves a fragrant white blossom behind his ear.
“Thank you,” Aziraphale says sincerely, and Crowley glares openly at the traitors. “That’s very kind of you.” His smile really is a beacon of otherworldly radiance. An orchid blooms on the spot, the epiphyte whore.
(7.2k) summer and his pleasures by witching
absence makes the heart grow fonder, and crowley and aziraphale’s hearts were plenty fond to begin with. a story told through phone calls while they are separated for work-related reasons.
Mood: drunk dialing and dirty talk, idiots in love
Something clicked in Aziraphale’s mind, and he held back a curse word threatening on his tongue. Luckily, or perhaps unluckily, he found himself just in that sweet spot of intoxication where he was cognizant enough to recognize that he was doing something he absolutely shouldn’t do, but not quite enough to stop himself. “I would, you know,” he said, full of newfound confidence. “I’d – if you were here, I’d make it… very much worth your while.”
(3.6k) Birds of a Feather by idiopathicsmile
Aziraphale nests. Crowley relearns some crucial facts about angelic courtship rituals.
Mood: Jealousy, lashing out, withdrawal, oblivious idiots slowly learning how to use their words.
Is Crowley jealous of a musty old flat above a used book store? In the millennia he’s spent slowly twisting his own heart around Aziraphale’s little finger, it’s not the weirdest thing he’s been jealous of, to be honest.
(11k) A Touch Like Sunlight    by goodomensblog / @goodomensblog / @just-quintessentially-me
When Aziraphale is threatened by angels who seek justice for Aziraphale’s crimes against Heaven, Crowley comes up with a plan to keep him safe from harm.
Mood: PTSD from witnessing the attempted murder of your husband, it’s not paranoia if they’re really out to get you, self-sacrificing idiots & badass idiots protecting eachother.
“Right! Brunch!” Aziraphale says, bouncing up on his toes - as if they hadn’t just been discussing the murder of archangels. “Do you think they have crepes?”
(13.6k) These Things Were Here by MajorEnglishEsquire
Crowley, following times of overwhelming distress, resorted to the snake form as a means of finding comfort and solitude.
Mood: displays of affection, love shown through care-taking, using your ineffable boyfriend as a security blanket.
Nothing like it happened again for years. The pattern, however, was too recognizable to be mistaken when it did reoccur.
When commended for some catastrophe of which he was no part, Crowley became a completely disconsolate mess, but he still actually handled those occasions better than when he was, in fact, party to such disaster.
If he was blamed, but not actually at fault, Aziraphale may find him on the verge of discorporation due to alcohol poisoning, but at least he would say what was wrong. It was worse when he had an assignment he couldn’t breathe a word of. It was worse when he would smile bitterly and leave silently, haunted beyond expression.
(4.6k) let sleeping snakes lie by kythen / @kythen
The world doesn’t end. Crowley falls asleep. And Aziraphale stays by his side, waiting for him to wake up again.
Mood: acts of love, comfort, warmth, home
To some extent, he understands Crowley’s need for sleep. It had been an exhausting decade for the both of them, what with the end of the world business, and it had culminated spontaneously in them cutting off their ties with both Heaven and Hell rather dramatically, which were the only ties that either of them have ever had since the Beginning. Just as Crowley had sauntered from the ranks of Heaven to Hell, he had finally found his way out of Hell and into something that finally felt like freedom.
(6.4k) All The Dreams We Had by ImpishTubist / @impishtubist
This time will be different, Aziraphale thinks. This time, Crowley will remember.
Mood: amnesia, groundhog day - but centered on a single relationship - and with more angst
It takes a year for Crowley to fall for him again, a year until the air raid and the church and the books; a year before Aziraphale finds himself pressed up against a brick wall and exchanging desperate, burning kisses.
Crowley’s forgotten again by morning.
(70k) The Place You Need To Reach by Zetared / @zetablarian
When Crowley is forcibly recalled to home office, Aziraphale conspires with a denounced saint and strikes a deal with the agents of Hell to get him back.
Mood: sacrifice, loss of self, trauma, love, tenderness and fantasy-novel-esque world & character building
“I have a journey to complete,” Aziraphale reminds the Adversary, primly. “May I begin?”
“In good time, Aziraphael. In good time. Tell me, do you recall the rules correctly?”
Aziraphale grits his teeth at the purposeful use of his forgotten name, but he doesn’t mention it. “Yes, of course. Using no miracles or ethereal influence of any kind, I must walk through the circles of Hell and complete an unknown task in each to earn passage to the next. I must not look behind me, where Crowley will walk. I may speak to Crowley, but he cannot speak back. I will not hear him or see him or feel even a hint of his presence. I will move forward, and, God willing, he will follow me.”
(1.9k) Kissing, Accidentally. by skybound2 / @skybound2
The one where Crowley gives in and kisses Aziraphale while he has him pinned against a wall.
Mood: hilarious footnotes, brilliant Crowley internal monologues and ineffable kissing against a wall.
No. No what actually happens is that when Crowley slams Aziraphale up against a wall in the middle of a hallway at a former-Satanic-hospital-turned-paintball-complex to express to him how very not nice he is, his hindbrain, forebrain and all other portions of his brain, decide that while denial has been a lovely place to reside for the previous six millennia, they are rather due a relocation at this point. And “Oh! Would you look at that! Here’s the oh-so-very soft mouth of an oh-so-very-beautiful angel right in front of us! And all we have to do to get there is to just…lean forward an inch. Less than an inch, in fact! How fantastic!”

Mood: : ineffable dates, promises kept
“Ready for lunch?” Crowley drops to his knees to start unbuckling the straps on the basket as though this is something they do all the time; as though he hasn’t just effortlessly catapulted Aziraphale back in time almost fifty years.
“You remembered,” Aziraphale breathes as wonder courses through him. He mentioned something once during an awkward moment, half a century ago, and now here kneels a demon atop a picnic blanket.
“Hmm?” Crowley barely shoots him a sidelong glance as he concentrates on opening the basket.
Aziraphale’s eyes do not move from him. “You remembered,” he repeats, no less stunned. “Crowley, you really didn’t have to.”
Crowley’s hands still. Eventually, his eyes still on the basket, he murmurs, “Well, we did The Ritz, didn’t we?”
(9k) On The Matter Of Touch by Somedrunkpirate
For two ineffable husbands, they don’t really touch each other much. Here is a story on why that might be.
Mood: touch-starved idiots in love, heart-breaking internal monologues, misunderstandings, miscommunication, protective idiots.
Crowley had decided long ago that curiosity should have been a sin, because it has been the one thing consistently tempting him in his existence. He’s done everything he can think of and more, just so see what it was all about. But this, with Aziraphale, feels more than just an experience he can add to his endless tally

There is something, Aziraphale thinks, that is inherently selfish— unangelic, even— about grief. But then of course, the same could be said about love.
Mood: identity angst, calling Aziraphale out on his bullshit
“Oh, don’t be ridiculous ,” Crowley snaps. “Of course I don’t— angel, do you have any idea just how much more straightforward my life would be if only I were able to hate you?”
(5.6k) bent to the very earth by Ark / @et-in-arkadia
Use me, please, Crowley had said, so Aziraphale takes him at his word.
Mood: tenderness & kisses & sex against a wall
Aziraphale kisses him back because that is what makes sense, kissing Crowley, why, the thought crosses his mind often enough—he just never had the sort of momentum that seems to fire up Crowley now. Crowley whose hands are shaking before they ball up as fists on Aziraphale’s lapels, Crowley who keeps kissing him and kissing him like otherwise he’ll drown.
(40k) Lit in the Darkness by ToEdenandBackAgain / @toedenandbackagain
Mood: Aziraphale and Crowley sleeping together through the ages. Mutual pining.
Aziraphale, despite being nowhere hear as gangly as Crowley, is somehow still all arms and legs when he sleeps. Crowley takes an elbow to the face three times before he wedges the angel between the wall and his body with an angry growl, making sure to trap the flailing limbs tight beneath his own.

Mood: beautiful writing, emotional vulnerability, submitting to the mortifying ordeal of being known,
“Whatever happens tomorrow -“ And something will happen, they won’t walk away from this. They’d never be allowed. “Darling, you should know -”

If you’re going to go native, you might as well go all the way.
Mood: saying the absolutely wrong thing at the wrong time, reaching your breaking point, miscommunication and heart break.
“You know, we are the way we are,” Aziraphale said slowly, pressing it a little, brushing his wing up against Crowley’s, “but we can also change, Crowley. We have done, over the years. We’ve changed quite a lot, since we first met.”
