During a wonderful, romantic evening at home, Bucky surprises Steve by mentioning retirement.
Then during a mission, someone abducts Bucky. Again. Half-crazy with worry for his husband and rage at whoever has dared to touch him, Steve vows that this time is the last time. When he orders different mission parameters than any he's ever set before, he expects the rest of the Avengers to object, but to his surprise, they're on board.
Because they need to send a message: If you threaten the world, we'll protect it. If you threaten us, there's no one who can protect you.
Steve and the Avengers go on a rampage, destroying the kidnapper's base and rescuing Bucky before his mind can be stolen from him again. And once Steve gets Bucky back in his arms, he promises to take him home for good.

What exactly is a big bang? I am confused (sorry if this is a silly question). I write but I assume this isn’t an event for that? Is it only for artists?
Hey there, a Big Bang is actually an event for both writers and artists!!
In a traditional Big Bang, an author will begin writing a fic (usually about 10k words? But each event is different) that an artist will claim. This is done through a selection process called claims. Then they work together to have a story and piece of fanart that coexist to enhance each other!!!
We’re a REVERSE Big Bang, which means we do the opposite. So artists create fanart that we arrange in a selection for authors to claim. Then they write a story to go along with the art (typically shorter than a traditional Big Bang).
They’re called big bangs because everyone in the event posts around the same time so it’s a surge of content for a fandom, hence the name!

Not at all!
While we do expect pinch hitters to step up when needed, it’s not required by any means. The mods would never require anyone to claim an artwork they didn’t think they could write a great story for! We want our artists to be paired with people who are passionate about their pieces, and if that doesn’t happen for our pinch hitters, then that’s okay.
Ideally, we’d have so many pinch hitters that it would be okay if some had to pass on a story here and there because someone else would claim it. However, we are always short on pinch hitters and could use so many more!!!
