Are there any millennial fans out there who remember which Death Note character they thought was the most stylish one back in the 2000s when the series was new? I am fairly certain that I thought it was Matt lol

everyone else might already know this but i just think it’s funny that canonically The Cage takes place in 2254, so over 10 years before the start of Kirks first 5 year mission as captain. while SNW takes place around 2258-2260
(with the reveal of Carol Marcus being pregnant it would make most sense for it to be 2259 seeing as TSFS takes place in 2285, which would make David Marcus 25 at the time that movie takes place)
anyways, then the beginning of TOS is in 2265, and here’s a visual representation of why i find that funny (using spock as an example because he’s my favorite)
Spock and Pike circa 2254

Spock and Pike circa ~2258

and then back to Spock looking like this in TOS circa 2265 (Where No Man Has Gone Before was the second pilot but The Man Trap aired first so idk which takes place first in canon so here’s both)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
also i know most people are probably just gonna ignore it but i would love to see an in-universe explanation for why the hair and clothing styles changed so much between snw and tos.

Like, for all Cere saying “While you’re alive, you always have a choice” Cal doesn’t really seem to have much motivation to do all this beyond *shrug* *indistinct noise*. It’s not like the game gives him an option to go be a farmer, or something, and his goals seem pretty vague. Like, he’s going to gather potential Jedi, then ? restart the Order ?, then ??, and ???, ?????, then DEFEAT THE EMPIRE!
I know the story takes some twists and turns, found family, the journey you wanted was inside you all along, yada yada, but I wish he had something he was striving for beyond “I don’t know, didn’t have anything better to do, I guess”. Give him a separate mystery to solve, or a memory he wants to unlock, or something.

I miss 1987 comics. It felt like things had substance over production value.

I don't follow blogs ran by people being racist about rap so I'm only witnessing the secondhand responses to the recent "discourse" and sadly 'tumblrinas being racist about their bad taste in music & low lyrical literacy' is exactly what I'd put on my 2024 bingo card for this steadily declining shithole....

I'm thinking about getting my ears re-pierced, so I'm doing some research on it and I found this really funny thing.
An article from a jewelry store (it's the first thing that pops up when I googled surgical steel alergy, which I am pretty sure I have) says, in the same sentence that nickel allergies (which are typically the cause of bad reactions to iron-based alloys) are very rare and then they say 10% of the population has some form of it. That's not very rare. That's 1 in 10 people. In medication side effects lists, 1 in 10 is considered common.
So, yeah, fucking stupid ass jewelry website trying to sell their stupid ass jewelry by misleading their readers/customers.

As someone who studied journalism and has also worked in toxic environments that fed off of information hoarding, I used to believe that information sharing was inherently "good". Because it promotes transparency! And transparency challenges unspoken norms and combats white supremacy culture, which are both things that are very important to me
But the more time I spend on social media, the more I realize that the concept of a digital town square was a mistake. We as humans need smaller communities organized around common interests and shared causes, rather than a single place for everything to exist all at once
Nowadays, I'm starting to think "intentionality" is the real MVP in navigating online and life in general. Not because it's inherently good or bad, but because it means we're 100% aware of what we're doing, who we're saying stuff to, and why we're doing it.
It would be so much more productive and manageable than everyone hurling a million + 1 jarringly disparate things at each other simply because we're in an online ecosystem that actively rewards it

I know this is old but I still see comments on it on Grey's content and I just started rewatching Grey's Anatomy and people act like George was such a great guy and much better than the other guys on the show but... he takes no responsibility for his actions and blames other people, usually women, for his problems, George wasn't that great tbh
lmaoooo too real
i will say its been upwards of a decade at this point that i havent watched the show but iirc his whole story was having these overblown crushes on all the main white(/passing) women characters -- like we had meredith of course but then also izzie too right and callie and that one redhead nurse who got crabs from alex and then passed it to george, and wait didnt he have a thing for lexie too at some point? -- and then crumbling for a bit when they didn't reciprocate his feelings before moving on to the next girl who crossed his field of vision. like im wracking my brain but they really never gave that boy an actual professional development plot huh.
and then wait omg ......... the way they wrote him off the show [SPOILERS I GUESS? STOP READING HERE IF YOU DON'T WANNA KNOW THIS BIT] was that he finally decided to like 'be a man' (🥴) and enlist in the army to become a medic but he pushed that woman out of the way of the bus and then the bus trampled him. fucking wild
