Open starter: Nightmares

oh, mod here, trigger warning for self harm and nightmares/panic attack/general anxiety!! the starter will be below the cut

Xiao jolted awake, eyes darting around from where he lay in the branches of the tree that grew around Wangshu Inn.

"You're safe...you're fine..." Xiao ran a hand through his hair, trying to calm down.

He stood at the top level of the Inn, folding his arms on top of the railing and resting his head on them. Xiao bit them into his forearms. His sharp teeth dug into his arms. He tried and failed to breathe deeply.

"...why did I have to be the one to survive?"

Tears sprung at the corners of his eyes despite his protests.

"Don't cry, don't cry, don't cry..."

Promotion.

Silence. Nothing but the absolute silence of the huge dome <muse> had decided to take shelter in from the rain.

Silence... That was, until <muse> stumbled upon a room. Opening the door as quietly as possible, an interesting scene comes into sight. A young man with short hair was suspended in the air by tubes flowing with purple, sparkling liquid. That liquid seemed to be slowly emptying into his back, but there was no evidence from that far away. Out of nowhere, the door closes behind <muse> and a laugh sounds out. After looking up again, the purple-haired was nowhere to be seen... Until <muse> was knocked out.

" Hey, now. Are you alright? " The young man was looking down into their eyes with a concerned tone. He had a huge hat on, which he held with a pale hand.

" You fainted out of nowhere. I was a bit surprised when you came in. I don't usually get visitors without a notice. "

An easy facade to create. His eyes showed no other emotion at all... Which was comforting. Someone to be completely concerned about you...

But what you don't know is that it's all an act now, do you, <Muse>? You can't see through such a lie... How pathetic.

It's fun ghoul again. But I'm not asking for myself this time. I was wondering if you could do some positivity for my friend party poison. They're feeling depressed because they're getting triggered over and over. We're having a medical issue in this body currently that reminds them of what caused them to die in their other life and they're scared.

Party Poison, you are so valid for feeling how you feel. It's tough to go through traumatic similarities like medical conditions that remind you of a past death. I'm sorry that you're going through that, and I hope that these issues ease up for you soon.

Know that you aren't the same person you were when you died. This change is a good thing. People are supposed to grow, such as you have. Use this newfound strength to help guide you through your current issues. It is okay if you need to stay away from triggering situations. Just don't let them stop you from following your dreams.

Now, I can understand that your own medical issues are probably impossible for you to avoid. Believe me, I get that. But you aren't alone in it. Don't be afraid to lean on your systemmates for assistance when facing any of your triggers. It's okay to not be okay, and it's okay to need help.

It's also okay if you feel fatigued. Depression is no joke, and that combined with facing one's own triggers constantly is enough to make anyone weary. Make sure you give your body and mind all the rest it needs.

All of that being said, I lastly want to impart the message on you that you are so much more than your scars. I hope that the future treats you with kindness, and that the pain of the past leaves you soon.
