I think I'm like, just absolutely so obsessed with Anonymous Noise. It'll be a while before I can move on to another series and feel this intensity of feelings. This is one of those series that I desperately want to collect in hardcopy like right now!!
I also really want the Ryouko Fukuyama artbook because it seems there's some Anonymous Noise artwork in there and I need to see it. I am screaming internally and crying over these beautiful, wonderful, amazing characters!!!!

I am exhausted in ways I cannot begin to explain. October and even November were really great months for me and a large part of that was being back on tumblr and connecting with this community. I wish I had kept it up more frequently, I wish I had the energy to do everything I want to do.

I have read Fellowship of the Ring more times than I have cared to keep count and every time I read Boromir’s, well, possession for lack of a better word, I have read it in fear, in discomfort, in horror, indifferently.
This was, I think, the first time I read it in pity. I looked at all the plans Boromir was making, how he would save his beloved city, how obstinate he was in his belief that the men of Minas Tirith would not be corrupted when wielding the Ring against Sauron —and I felt sad. He’s waving his hands and hollering and part of him is desperate just for the Ring, of course he is, he’s been traveling beside it with no hope for months, but he’s also desperate for hope. He’s desperate for a chance to save his people, save his brother, save his city.
Moreover, every time he calls out the Elves or the Wizards, you have to remember that he doesn’t know them. All he knows is that he traveled almost a full year to get their advice and they send him on, in his eyes, a hopeless venture. The one hope they give him is Aragorn, who promises to return and help save Minas Tirith with him, but even that all changes once Gandalf dies. They come to Lothlorien and of course it’s a welcome break, but they cannot, or maybe in Boromir’s eyes will not, help his people. And once they leave, Aragorn assumes his role as leader of the Fellowship in Gandalf’s stead more permanently and suddenly even that one, brief, uncertain hope of his is gone. Aragorn will follow Frodo. And it’s almost certain that Frodo will not go to Minas Tirith.
So is it any wonder, really, that tired, desperate, hopeless Boromir, out of his realm, out of his depth, already hanging by a thread when he joins the Fellowship and having been gnawed on by the Ring for months upon months afterwards, finally snaps once it’s clear that he will have to return home empty-handed and almost certain that somewhere far away Sauron is capturing the Ring and killing the companions that he had bonded with? Of course part of the Ring is making him lust for power, but it’s also his only “reliable” (in his mind) source of hope left to save his city.
And so I read Boromir’s (intelligent and thought out, mind you) raving and I don’t feel scared for Frodo, not after reading it so many times and knowing what ultimately happens, but sorrow for Boromir.

Since Dracula adaptations are so adament about making the main characters related to each other in some way, I'd kinda like to see an adaptation where Jack is Mina's brother rather than her father. Judging by their dynamic in the book, they're able to meet on common grounds with their intelligence, their shared love for Lucy, and whenever the two are together, they were always in sinc with one another. I would've liked to have seen more of that. Plus, I think making them siblings could add some interesting insight to how certain events play out. Maybe Mina had tried to play matchmaker by encouraging her brother to propose to her best friend as an attempt to make Lucy an official part of the family. Maybe the reason both Jack and Mina were able to obtain their occupations at such a young age was because their parents prioritized their education and paid for the highest level instructors available to teach both their children. It'd also give Jack greater motivation for hunting Dracula, because he had targeted both his love interest, and now his sister. I don't know, I just think its a better concept than making him her father at least.

First time Dracula reader here and today's chapter was thrilling, heartbreaking, and just all-around incredible. My favourite part, however, were Mina's lines here:
You must be pitiful to [Dracula], too, though it may not hold your hands from his destruction [...] I have been thinking all this long, long day of it—that … perhaps … some day … I, too, may need such pity; and that some other like you—and with equal cause for anger—may deny it to me!
What a heartbreakingly sympathetic view of Count Dracula, which, of course, reflects Mina's own fear of being viewed as monstrous by Jonathan and her friends (a view that she has already begun to uphold for herself: "Unclean! Unclean!")
Moreover, I can't help but think of the parallel between Mina/Dracula and Frodo/Gollum from LOTR. Frodo, too, pities Gollum for they were both victims of the Ring and protects him multiple times throughout the story, extending to him the kindness he himself wishes will be given to him if he ever becomes a Gollum. That is why (in the films at least), he is so defensive of him against Sam, because he's afraidthat Sam's vitriol towards Gollum would one day be turned onto him, once he becomes as corrupted by the Ring.
Similarly, Mina urges the men to remember that the Count is, potentially, the person amongst them who is suffering the most. She gives him the pity that no one else would because she hopes that, as a potential Vampire, someone will look upon her with the same pity.

Fukumenki Noise is actually a masterpiece but the anime botched the pacing towards the end. Please, y'all gotta read the manga. And also watch the anime but only for the music and performance scenes. Because god, the music adds so much to the experience!!!

I want to make a tumblr page that's just like a big gallery for all the art I've commissioned or fanart people have drawn of me. I think that would be neat. But I don't think it would integrate well with my current theme so hmm.

Dracula Dailiers we have a LOT to unpack
-RIP to the Captain, Whitby loves and misses you
-Surprise RIP to Mr. Swales, I know you died shit-talking the Count so mercilessly the ancient bastard had to snap your neck*
-*Alternatively, it was because you were sitting over the grave he wanted to use for his camp-out resting place. Hence why yet another dog got its hackles up when passing near the spot, having sensed the atrocious Dracula-vibes within. Also, shout-out to the asshole dog owner who kicked his own pup, I hope you get gangrene in that foot.
-Lucy is still sleepwalking. We can be pretty sure there’s some extra influence going on there. But what gets all my hairs standing up is that Mina knows Something More is up and Lucy refuses to talk about it. Worse, it’s something that implies a miserable camaraderie with the dog’s terror when touching the gravestone; the inarticulate dread, the fear that comes with Knowing There is a Threat and Not Knowing the Threat’s Name.
-Good cows!
-Hoo boy, here comes Stoker’s misplaced mouthpiece time with Mina poo-pooing ‘the New Woman.’ Between this sniffing at the independent stance of the New Woman phenomenon and the Lilith-adjacent baby-eating caricature the sexy evil Brides present, Stoker was hitting the gas on the lady prejudice. Ironically, in a way that flies in the face of his main girl being so obviously in line with a lot of the New Woman’s principles. Yes, as the book goes on, there will be some period-typical maidenly fretting and ‘do not fear, this is man’s work!’ moments—which kind of tips Stoker’s hand in a very telling ‘appreciation’ for manful men doing manful men things. With other men.—but when Mina isn’t performing damsel duty?
She’s a worker. She’s a thinker. She’s a doer. She fills 90% of traditional male roles in literature throughout the story just as Jonathan filled out the gothic damsel in distress role at the book’s start. Frankly I think the only reason she or Lucy are able to unironically turn their noses up at the ‘New Woman’ is because:
A)   They’re miraculously surrounded by the most chivalrous men on Earth, let alone in England. They’ve no reason to get ruffled over a lack of respect or care.
B)   Mina’s only solid acquaintance with men beyond a few interviewees so far is Jonathan ‘Mina-Addicted Sweetheart’ Harker and Mr. Hawkins who’s like a second father.
C)   Her social circle really isn’t all that big, period. Yes, there’s Lucy who she’s known since childhood, Jonathan, her students, but who else does she really talk about like they’re close? Least of all any acquaintances who might be or know ~confirmed~ New Women?
D)  Being a newspaper lover, I’d bet money her only real ‘knowledge’ of the New Woman phenomenon comes from Punch comics and mansplained satire discussing outlandish parodies of the actual movement/women. Of course she isn’t like them! How absurd!
E)    She does genuinely want to start a family with Jonathan and this traditional desire likely feels to her like another proof against her being a dreadful (gasp) New Woman.
All the while she’s oblivious to all the traits that make her—the working, intelligent, active, teacher/budding journalist/equal partner to her fiancé—very much part of the New Woman movement. It wouldn’t surprise me if Jonathan was someday stunned to realize she was in earnest about her disdain, leading to him gently, lovingly, claiming he is quite shocked and hurt, as one of his best friends is a New Woman. Would he like to meet her?
Cue him holding up a mirror.
-Lucy is so pretty and full of blood <3
-I too would be happier if only I knew if Jonathan. Where Jonathan. Want Jonathan. Return Jonathan.
