Hello, all you lovely people! I'm here with a prompt list for this year's Mermay challenge!

This has always been one of my favorite challenges and I'm super excited to add my own prompts into the mix! So I do hope that this list helps give inspiration wherever it's needed!

Hi sorry I sent my last ask to early, I want to write about a couple where one of them is a mermaid and the other gets turned into a mermaid in a more modern setting but I’m blanking on ideas for it. Any suggestions?

Hi :)

No problem. I have never thought about someone getting turned into a mermaid. So I'll try to come up with some ideas for you.

Turning into a Mermaid Prompts

The human is an environmental activist trying to clean the ocean. Their fight for a cleaner place for everything that lives in the ocean doesn't go unnoticed by the mermaids and they want to show their appreciation and invite them into their world.

A boat gets into trouble on the open sea. When the human falls overboard they think it's over for them, because they can't swim. But suddenly they can breathe under water and they realize that they are not alone.

Their grandmother gave them a locket before she mysteriously left the family. After one too many fights with their parents they run away to their grandmother's favourite place - the ocean. There they find some people very interested in the locket they have.

It's a common practice for mermaids to spend one year on land before returning to the sea forever. It's also common that they fall in love with humans and want to bring them with them.

The human finds a shell on the beach that feels almost alive. When they go into the water to clean it, they fall over, suddenly missing their feet and legs.

Being in love with a mermaid is like a long distance relationship and they don't want to spend another day separated from each other anymore. So they have to come up with a plan to live with each other.

SKY MERMAY 2023.

Last year, I hosted a Sky-themed MerMay challenge on Instagram! I designed these characters as my own entries for it, but due to interest/energy issues (worsened by Dopamine Jail at the time), I unfortunately had to leave it unfinished. Since then, I've been yearning to show off these lovely characters, as there was a lot of joy designing them out in my old backyard. So I made this doodle with some rough marker rendering.

They now have a place within the Sky Kingdom, as a semi-secret society of Light Children who switch between capes and mermaid tails. Sort of like the hypogrypths in My Little Pony G4! They all worship ASEA, the goddess of ABZU whom Tapushea was split from, which is how they switch between air and water.

As I was finishing up an expedition with my coleuge, Dr. Branston, she was endlessly gushing about the success of her textbook and research journal. It got the people interested in her works, and in dragons as a whole.

On her suggestion, I will begin my own work, on hopes it might generate the same interest in Merms. They're beautiful creatures, so diverse in shape and behaviors, such an alien intelligence behind their eyes. It is not fair the public writes them off as mindless monsters, or some kind of evil tempter. They are many things, but evil most certainly isn't one of them, not if my observations, and the observations of my fellow researchers, have anything to say about it.

For the reading public, I publish a chronical of my life's work, from my work in the Merm Rehabilitation and Rescue Center, to my ongoing work as a researcher into their behavior and environments.

After a loong time of inactivity… I’m back 🎉 I went through a very rough period and I’m not out of it yet, but still I’ve decided to “go back in the game” and hope for the best. Made my own Mermay prompt list this year because I have some very specific ideas in mind!

I got really inspired by Florence + The Machine's new song Mermaid, and I'm planning on doing the vast majority of my prompts this month based around some OC's I created after listening to this song. It wasn't originally going to be what I did the whole month, but then it gained plot so...*shrug*.

2023 Prompt List

The 2023 Prompt List is here!

Clown Month is an event held in July, in the same vein as Inktober or Mermay, where you create one piece of art for every day of the month.

The only goal of the event is to inspire art and celebrate clowns, so the prompts are entirely optional - you can skip prompts, combine them, ignore them entirely, only do certain days... just have fun!

This is open to all forms of art! Drawing, writing, makeup, doll-making, ...

Ectoberweek 2023 Day 29: Masquerade

SPOILER FOR A GLITCH IN TIME!

I recently rewatched the endings of the anime "Durarara!!" and I was thinking that so many versions of Danny popped up throughout the years, it is time for a Danno-tower.

I limited myself to 15 versions and a few other AUs sprinkled here and there because 1) this artwork is already long enough and 2) there are so many AUs and different designs I would need much more time to draw them all.

Here is the list of prompts for this year's MayBlade event! Huge thanks to all the people who submitted their ideas - I didn't use all of them, especially if they were too similar to another idea, but I will keep them for the future. The "unpopular character" prompt returns as per request (also, because there are some characters who really deserve more love)

As per last year, you do not have to follow the prompts and you can join two events if you're doing MerMay etc. The prompts are just to inspire, but all the other ideas are welcome. You can also use prompts from last year.

Spidersonamarch is a ATSV fandom event with themes of each day of the month of March, inspired by mermay and Encantober. Spidersonamarch is open to any and all content, including art, drabbles, small fics, and more.

Rules:

Works must be a part of the ATSV (2023) fandom. OCs, AUs, and crossovers are permitted.

Works must adhere to one of the spidersonamarch themes.

No proship - that includes milescest, any minor x adult, etc.

QA:

Q: Can I link prompts together? Or multiple prompts into one work? A: Linking works together to create a story series is a wonderfully creative idea! However, combining multiple prompts into one work defeats the purpose of the daily prompt challenge. Each work should focus on one prompt.

Q: Do I have to participate every day? A: You do not have to participate every day. This is meant to be fun, so please don’t stress yourself out.

Q: Do I need to be at a specific level of art? A: No. This is all meant for fun, do not let your art style getting in the way of your fun. So again, don't stress yourself out.
