things most of society needs to learn:
-99% of queer and trans people are not going after your children, we just want the queer and trans children to be safe and feel reassured that everything will be ok.
-men can be abused, SA'ed, raped, attacked, have eating disorders, etc. yes, more women have these things happen to them, which is terrible, but that doesn't mean we should erase male victims. that'll just make it so men never admit to having these things happen.
-language evolves. you are not being forced to say "people who menstruate" or "people with penises", etc. but its more considerate to people who are trans/gnc. with that being said, yes, you have a right to not use these terms.
-most people use pronouns, so saying "pronouns in bio" or "pronoun/neopronoun user" is not a dunk. and yes, neopronouns are new and we all know much like the Croods you think everything new is dangerous, but it doesnt really matter if someone uses them.
let me know if I missed other stuff, and I'll add it here:
@forgie-forg has added," Also! Note that medical institutions should be obligated to use 'person with a uterus' 'person with a penis' etc because not doing so leads to trans people being denied healthcare. Nobody minds what terms you use to personally describe yourself"

Send them if you like but hopes and prayers do little to help those in a crisis.
Because best wishes and kind words don’t feed families after a flood. They don’t save homes from forest fires or shelter refugees fleeing conflict.
These problems need action, money, aid, shelter, food, water and medicine.
What use are prayers and good intentions here?
I wonder if we see this same passive in-activism for men and boys, with the numerous issues they experience being addressed through feel good platitudes such as ‘men can cry!’
The sentiment is good, but it doesn’t mean much to the homeless men starving on the street, the male survivors barred from refuges, or the fathers losing children in family court.
So, can we do better?
Is ‘men can cry’ the new ‘sending thoughts and prayers?’

Platitudes like "thoughts and prayers" and "men can cry" are cheap and easy words. They're not intended to solve anything or do anything except give the one reciting them a sense of being a good person while keeping a safe distance from the problem. And especially, it's a way of telling men that they've just been doing things wrong, rather than that there are tangible societal disadvantages that require changes in law, policy or resources.

The way we as a society judge people and politicize people's bodies for being bodies is insane. Like we see a woman eating and are immediately grossed out or we see a fat person existing and we're immediately grossed out. Or we see a man crying or a neurodivergent person stimming and are immediately grossed out. Like we don't eat because our bodies need food or we sometimes don't exercise because being fat does not immediately make you unhealthy. Some people really want autistics to mask or men to bury their emotions like stimming and crying aren't actions that are scientifically proven to reduce stress and help people feel better. Imagine if we made social norms and constructs about breathing and we put rules about how quickly or slowly or deeply a person breathed and judged them when they broke those rules. Wouldn't that be insane?

Ok but God having a lightbulb for head making it easy to break whenever someone's had enough of "his" bullshit but the back of his throne being full of new fresh lightbulbs, leaving it to the people/creatures, even the ones that broke him in the first place, to replace it if they find the mercy and humility in their hearts to do so has to be one of the hardest and most creative metaphors for hope Ive seen in a Groening show

Irondad fic ideas #148
You know those homework assignments where you have to interview someone in your family and then write an essay about their responses? Fic where Peter's class is told to interview their dad / a father figure in their life.
Peter decides to interview Tony. But, he doesn't want his class to accuse him of lying, and he definitely doesn't want Tony to know what the assignment is about.
So for Tony, Peter makes it seem like the assignment is just to interview anyone. Then, he carefully chooses questions to ask that are domestic and personal enough to avoid any mention of superheroes, celebrities, or so on. The few details that do slip through he just leaves out of his final essay.
For the class problem, Peter solves it by referring to Tony in the essay exclusively as "dad"
Unfortunately for Peter, the teacher then announces a part 2 to the assignment. Right after collecting the essays, the teacher says they will now need to bring the people they interviewed to school for their presentations
Peter has pretty much decided to not even mention it to Tony and just say his dad is busy. But then Flash has to open his big mouth.
He accuses Peter of just making his assignment up, loudly reminding the class that he's an orphan. Peter clarifies that this father figure thing is a new development, but now the teacher looks suspicious
Peter is going to have to ask Tony to come to his school. And he's going to have to explain why the class will be full of kids and their fathers

tw: suicide and SA
it genuinely pisses me the fuck off that when I was 15, I got SA'ed, and because I'm male, no one, other than my friends, gave a shit.
i didn't say this, because I knew they'd try to send me to CPEP, which is a fucking hellhole, but I knew that the only way I'd actually get taken seriously was if I had said "I want to kill myself."
because those shitheads only cared about their goddamned jobs, and if I had committed suicide, they would've been held somewhat liable for my death.
this is the motherfucking reason male victims dont say shit.
because this fucking asshole looked me in the eyes and said,
"maybe you gave her mixed messages."

Golden Trio as Kents
Previous Next
‐-----------------------
The Justice League was on edge. Well, they were suspicious.
Superman had been strange the past few weeks. He and the other Supers had been taking increased trips to Smallville. People had begun to worry something had happened to the Kent elders but after Flash had tearfully asked after their health they'd been reassured that they were as fit as ever.
Which begs the question as to why they were constantly in Smallville. Batman, as usual, asked his sons due to their close relationship to the Superboys. Damian and Tim were not helpful.
Though that did confirm that this was a non threatening civilian issue considering his sons had essentially laughed in his face (or rather they'd brushed him off which was the same in the Batclan, unless you were Jason or Stephanie who literally laugh in his face).
Eventually Bruce decided to bite the bullet and ask Clark. He'd held off this long because everytime he approached Clark buzzed with excited energy like a hyperactive golden retriever and Bruce did not have the energy to deal with that.
He'd come to regret his decision after Clark simply led him to the Kent farm and introduced him to his new siblings.
As a father Bruce loved his kids. He did not, however, like them. It sounds horrible but while Bruce would easily lay down his life for his children without a second thought he would never be friends with them had they met on the streets, matter of fact, he'd cross the road to avoid them.
His children were mean and teenagers. He'd heard enough of their casual 'roasts' at galas to know that they'd reduce people to tears (and they had, on multiple occasions).
All of this to say, Bruce was horrified to learn that Clark had cursed his life with three more terrors who had made friends with his hellspawn. Now his manor was ground zero for even more shenanigans.
Turns out when many highly trained teenagers with a myriad of powers gathered together they caused mass destruction. He'd already bailed the Young Justice + the Kent kids out of jail six times and they were banned for life from every Olive Garden nationwide even AFTER a heavy 'tip' ( made at the begest Tim, Danny, and Bart. All three of whom were devastated when that didn't work.)
Bruce had started making a game out of pushing them onto whatever unsuspecting Justice League member was in the wrong place at the wrong time when they were in his care. Plastic Man had started diving through any avaliable opening when Batman walked by after getting caught six times.
But honestly as he sat with the Justice League watching them beat the ever-loving shit out of Ra's Al Ghul he felt a swell of pride for the group of kids who were coming into their own.
"Aren't they the cutest?" Clark asked as Sam curb stomped the man. The amount of side eyes he received from the rest of the League made Batman laugh out loud (read; quirk his lip).

I just saw a video of Palestinian men rescuing a small baby from rubble, still alive.... The baby was showered with kissed and praises to God, everyone smiling. They were handling the baby with such gentleness, such care, that I (a woman, expected by society to be motherly) don't believe I would be able to have. I can't stop crying. These men are being villainized by media. Even pro palestinian people tend to use the "think of the women and the children", as if palestinian/arab men don't deserve the same mercy, but THESE MEN ARE HEROES. They're fathers, brothers, husbands, sons. they're doctors, teachers, bakers, and so much more. They've lost their home, their families, but they are still brave enough to keep on helping. They are the true heroes, and they deserve our kindness and protection too. Our voice must include them.
