I really like this song and think papyrus would sing it well

Where does it say those letters to santa are from papyrus? wouldn't they be from sans? there's a present for papyrus under the tree, sans didn't send his letter because the resets are a recent event and he doesn't see the point. Or is it possible sans stole papyrus's letter from asgore?
Tumblr media
here's what the flavor text says.
there's a point in the pre-date segment in papyrus' room when you inspect his action figures where he goes "WELL, LET'S JUST SAY THEY'RE FROM… A CHUBBY, SMILING MAN WHO LOVES TO SURPRISE PEOPLE." and like, you're clearly meant to go ".....does he mean his brother?" before he ends with "YEAH!! THAT'S RIGHT! SANTA!!!!".
asgore never says he's the one who buys the presents for everyone in the underground, that would be ridiculous (though i presume he can slip in something of his own, like candy or small stuff like that). he just wears the costume and delivers the gifts. i assume the gifting tradition is similar to our own, where it's family members who actually read the list and buy the presents. it'd make no sense if the thank you letter was his own, but this WOULD explain why papyrus' letter is in his room.
and once again, i love how such a small detail tells us so much about them. papyrus being the kind of kid (and growing into the kind of adult) who writes thank-you letters back to santa claus and sans being the kind of big brother who holds onto them as a happy little memento.

orchid papyrus mahonia chamomile taro :)
orchid ⇢ what’s a song you consider to be perfect?
At the risk of being an utter stereotype of myself the Indigo Girls song Chickenman is perfect, to me.
papyrus ⇢ if you put your ‘on repeat’ playlist on shuffle, what’s the first song that comes up? what do you like about it / associate it with?
I did the shuffle thing and the song that slotted into first spot was Echo, by Talisk. It's hard to put unit words what I like about it/associate it with because the main thing about it is that it Feels Right In My Brain
mahonia ⇢ what place, thing, activity inspires you most and how do you express yourself when it does?
The ocean. Sometimes when I'm standing with it feet in the surf I can't help but want to sing to her (even though I don't know many songs)
chamomile ⇢ what kind of things do you like receiving as gifts?
Food and drinks are nice, but really any memento - no matter how big or small - that will help me remember a special person or moment
taro ⇢ if someone called you right now to catch up, what’re the things you’d tell them about?
So I think I had a Moment earlier today where I had a Moment of mutual recognition with a young person as a queer and crazy "elder" based on how their demeanor changed between the beginning and end of our very brief exchange. I hope so at least, I hope so. I want to be a visible and safe-seeming figure for kids who might need to see one out in the wild.

Your Gaster lore breakdown (which was very good!) made me think of something: what are the chances we’ll go through a late-game area in DeltaRune that’s Gaster’s equivalent to the True Lab, with log entries on his experiments / the process of him creating the DeltaRune world? After all, the one we have from him is #17; there had to be at least 16 before that, right? Hopefully not all written in Wingdings
that is literally something i have been thinking about. it might be the bunker! that might be our late-game bunker dark world! i think it'd have like. mementoes/reminders of the secret bosses, with the entries maybe actually being videos or audio files in the style of the true lab tapes showing old conversations between him and old colleagues/friends/associates (sans? alphys? asgore? papyrus?) before he shattered, and then some different, plain english plaques or something on the walls discussing his story post-shattering and how he made deltarune. as for enemies/test subjects, it's been my belief for a while now that the goners and gaster followers used to be normal people who gaster accidentally erased from the timeline, or gonered, in his experiments, and this led him to go slightly mad in a chain of events that led to his shattering. maybe they could be the equivalents of the amalgamates! maybe they wouldn't FIGHT us, but they'd be part of weird puzzles that get us through the map or something. and at the end we meet the doctor himself!

hey. hey pssst. u got any. gaster headcanons. would you...... perchance like to share..... them........
HI boy do I ever. lets see im just gonna infodump a bunch here
-super neurodivergent. was the weird kid and has always had trouble connecting with people and is kind of seen by some people as weird or unattached bc of this but is actually THE sweetest guy on the planet.
-a very emotional person despite what he wants to believe, and forms strong emotional attachments to both people and things. His house is SUPER cluttered not just because of Supreme Level ADHD but also because he loves to keep physical mementos of milestones, people, events etc.
-only ever acts cold or cruel when he’s very stressed and overwhelmed and emotionally shuts down. he hates that the only time he can be entirely logical without the influence of his own emotions is when he’s pushed to the brink
-his lab might look like an explosion happened (and that’s technically true) but he himself knows where everything is and if anybody moves stuff or tries to clean up he won’t know where to find anything for weeks
-plays the piano and really loves music :] despite his passion for science if you ever try to dunk on the arts around him he will go off on you about the importance of music and visual art in our lives and you WILL get an earful
-papyrus’ sleeping habits come from him. he has like a gazillion hobbies on top of his scientific research (dungeons and dragons dming, music composition, gardening, studying human biology...) and would rather do any and all of those than waste time sleeping. he also almost never takes off to have a meal without doing something else at the same time (”it’s just good time management!”)
-i like to think he’s demiromantic and gray-ace because i looooove to project

The Nebular Theory (AO3) Plot Semi-But-Not-Really Spoilers Below the Cut - Clarifying Points for the First Two Chapters
I have been having a blast reading some of the super neat comments people have been leaving on the fic I’ve been writing over on AO3
But I have seen some people commenting about their confusion and I’m worried that in my attempt not to give away too much, I may have said too little. Ideally more about this should be given in small snippets at the beginning of the upcoming chapters (like in the Chapter Summary section that I am definitely using incorrectly) but in the meantime… here’s a couple of semi-spoilerish clarifying points pertinent to the first two chapters:
The Star is a separate entity from “Gaster”
Both The Star and “Gaster” were in the Void together
The Connecting Thread that Sans and Papyrus used to summon The Star WAS actually and legitimately connected to The Star
The moment where it talks about something tugging (I think the word I used in Ch2 was “twang” like a guitar string being plucked and buzzing on the frets) right after The Star was summoned from the Void is the moment where The Star transfers their line of connection to “Gaster,” which sacrifices their own ability to be easily pulled out of The Void. Like having one of those Coast Guard Floaty Save-Yo-Dumbass Donuts tossed to you and then you giving it to someone else instead, which forces you to let go of whatever it was you were holding onto originally.
Part of the reason I really liked the idea of teasing the reader with this information up front was twofold:
A major plot point is The Star getting Yote into The Void, which makes everyone forget them. I could have waited until we’d spent some time in the story, building up the character development, and Then dropped that Veil of Forgetfulness over the characters left behind so only the readers remember and can see the gaping hole left behind in their wake. But why not have the reader discover alongside the story character who it was that they forgot? Discover, as they realize Exactly who was lost and Exactly what it means to have them metaphorically sink below the waves, what it means for them to have given their only Line of Connection away to “Gaster” so that the soggy lump could finally escape the Void where he’d been trapped.
While I mostly want to tell a fun story… like… Memento Mori and all that. Right? I … hate getting the rug pulled out from under me. I hate “and then they died” shock value. But showing the funeral pyre up front let’s the reader know that, when this Moment arrives, that it was planned from the start. That all the sweet and beautiful moments that happened to them happened with death on the horizon. (I say death very loosely and mostly poetically but not very literally. I DID promise a happy ending. There IS a reason MC spent so long working with Pap to help inspire him to build The Machine. Consider it Chekhov’s Blueprint if you will lol) And I hope that, in some ways, it makes all the sweet moments sweeter and the hard moments less bitter. Less bitter because… they made it, right? Death still waits on the horizon, but wait he must. And while he waits, we triumph. We feast. We laugh and we love and those moments matter. Death (again, used very loosely) will Sit, damnit, and he will WAIT and we will Have our moments while he does.
Author has shown you Chekhov’s Gun, but author has also shown you Chekhov’s Defibrillator. Shit’s going to go down. But we have the med kit on standby. Death can reap, but we never gave him permission to harvest. And while we’re at it, we’re taking this sad, soggy old man with us. That’s right. We’re taking him right out of your basket and putting him in ours. Just because we can.
Neener Neener.

Happy STS!
Do you prefer to type your notes/plans or handwrite them? Where do you do this?
Do you have any notebooks set aside for writing? What do they look like?
Do you listen to music while writing? If so, what kind?
~Morri🗡 (@memento-morri-writes)
Tumblr media
Hello, Morri. Happy STS. I hope you are having a wonderful day. Thank you for these questions.
I typically keep all my notes together in the Scrivner file for the WIP I'm writing. For the Planes of Existence, I have separate file since it's multidimensional. This file includes all worldbuilding for each individual, prompts that I have written, and research / notes / plans for any possible manuscripts that I may create down the line. It's my idea book.
I do have a few notebooks that I occasionally jot down ideas in. These are papyrus, so I use them sparingly. They have a blue watercolor cover. I was going to use them for a journal but decided against it.
I do listen to music when I write. I'm eclectic when it comes to music genre, so it is a little bit of everything from Metallica to 90s pop. Here is my Spotify playlist.

nutmeg and papyrus :)
nutmeg ⇢ how’s your room/home decorated? do you have a specific theme or style going on?
I don’t really stick to a theme bc I love eclectic decor but I guess there’s kind of a girly vintage vibe (pretty floral bedspread, lace curtains, lots of little thrifted frames and art pieces on the wall by my bed). aside from that I have lots of little knickknacks on my dresser and desk (candles, old film cameras, little trinket boxes) and the wall space around my mirror is covered in photos and little paper mementos I’ve collected over the years. plus a very reasonable amount of photos of gerard. of course :)
papyrus ⇢ if you put your ‘on repeat’ playlist on shuffle, what’s the first song that comes up? what do you like about it / associate it with?
head over heels by tears for fears! 80s pop culture has always been a big comfort for me bc my parents played a ton of 80s music when I was growing up and my friends and I were obsessed with 80s movies in high school. I love this song bc it makes me feel like I’m in a john hughes film. I just rewatched the breakfast club the other day so I’ve been chasing that feeling for the past few days

Remembrance and Mementos
draped velvet curtains,
thousands of books in libraries,
a golden locket of lovers,
a doll i've had since 1,
art preserved for centuries,
ink and papyrus..
remembrance of things past, mementos of lives lived

ok ok, but hear me out. been following your blog from a dummy blog of mine for a while 'cause your posts are chef's kiss. finally decided to follow it on my personal-- the need to chip in is strong.
anyway. y'know what's one moment in undertale that angered me to dantesque proportions? ok so like, there's this bunny npc in snowdin that seems to be "mildly dissatisfied" with how things have gotten a bit rowdier in snowdin after the arrival of the brothers. she's that bunny npc walking her brother, cinnamon i believe. did you know that when you kill papyrus, everyone in snowdin is unhappy about it, but it seems she is happier because things are quieter now? i was beyond myself when i saw her dialogue post-papyrus death.
ohoh, trust me i do. also for more heartbreaking post-papyrus-death dialogue in neutral runs: did YOU know that sans takes papyrus' present out from under the christmas tree in snowdin before disappearing for the rest of the game? the bear next to the gift pile comments that there used to be one for papyrus, but that now it's gone. like fanon likes to make sans pick up the scarf, but he DOES take something of his brother with him as a memento. CANONICALLY. pain and suffering :]

5 History Lessons Through Souvenir Items from the Trip: Discover Egypt
On a transit through the man-made Suez Canal of Egypt, we had a mini-bazaar of souvenir items brought by the Suez Canal crew. It was a good opportunity for us to buy souvenirs and some tools that we could use for the journey. From refrigerator magnets, table mementos, papyrus wall arts and fishing paraphernalia, the mini-bazaar came with everything Egyptian. This post is about the history…

Doing Engraved Plaques Right
Honor and pride in a plate of metal. That is what engraved plaques are. Years of service or a great accomplishment will never fade away due to these precious mementos. They may not be pricey, but they truly are precious. And they always stand the test of time.
spotify plaque
Engraved plaques have been around since man put his hand to work on metal sheets. Before paper ever became the common choice for writing, man has always put his history in words. His choice of material was usually stone, papyrus, and metal. Special occasions called for special stationery, and the stationery of that era would always be a special metal. Hence were born the earliest plaques
The word plaque comes from the 19th century French word that means ornamental plate or tablet. They are often made of thin sheets of semi precious metals and are usually given to appreciate an accomplishment of individuals or groups.
2. What Are Plaques?
A commemorative plaque is usually a flat, decorative plate that is affixed to a wall. It often marks a significant person or event. In most countries, places with historical significance are often marked by bronze plaques. Most memorials in the United States are marked by plaques that tell the story of the significance of that place. And many of these plaques have been there for countless generations.
These plaques are made using a variety of metals
- Wood
- Steel
- Anodized aluminum
- Brass
- Bronze
- Acrylic laminate
- Other materials
3. Plaque Ideas
If you are looking for something to commemorate an achievement, or a special event, look no further than engraved plaques to do the job. These plaques may be for your spouse, your children, or your friends. Engraved plaques are works of art and are a beautiful, beautiful way to celebrate a great occasion. And the kicker is, they are relatively inexpensive! You could even have them mass produced for a group of people or for a company and it still wouldn't take too much time or money.
4. Machining Methods
- Hand Engraved
Tumblr media
This is an exotic art. For generations upon generations, the fine art of hand engraving has been passed down carefully. Today's artisans bear the artistry of many hundreds of years of skill. Hand engraved plaques may be pricey, but they are an authentic and rustic way of commemorating any occasion.
- Machine Engraved
The art of hand engraving has been largely replaced by machines. These machines engrave words and images accurately and effortlessly. Nevertheless, these machines still need skilled artisans to operate them. Plaques that result from such are also beautiful works of art
- Laser Engraved
Engraving is an old but respected art, but today's customers demand clear detail in the engravings. Using a high-power laser, engraving has now because simple yet beautiful. Laser engraving has truly changed the face of engraved plaques. It allows for the production of beautiful high-definition plaques. This process uses narrow-beam laser that creates high-detail images. The beams in question can be up to 4 millionths of an inch in diameter. This makes laser engraving a precision art and allows the engraver to burn in text, pictures and other high-detail elements on the plaque.
