although Hall's person and work have been described as lesbian, "The Well" and Hall's behaviour were full of what we can now identify as transmasculine behaviour, with "The Well" focusing on the life of a writer resembling very much that of Hall

Wilhelm Grüning (1858-1942) German tenor.

He made his debut (1881) in Danzig. He spent most of his career at the Hannover Opera and the Berlin Imperial Opera.

He was the son of a Berlin jeweller. He studied singing in Berlin under Julius Stern and Jenny Meyer and made his debut in 1881 at the Stadttheater in Gdansk as a lyric tenor, however, his voice changed about 1885 to the heroic tenor. From Gdansk he joined in the 1883-1885 seasons to the Opernhaus in Dusseldorf, then sang in the 1885-1887 seasons at the Deutschen Theater in Rotterdam. From 1888 to 1895 he appeared at the Hoftheater in Hannover, in the 1895-1898 seasons at the Stadttheater in Hamburg. In 1898 he joined to to the Hofoper in Berlin, where he remained till 1911. From 1891 to 1897 he appeared at the Bayreuth festival as Parsifal, Tannhäuser, Siegfried and Walther von Stolzing in ‘’Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg’’. His creation of the title role in R. Wagner’s ‘’Rienzi’’ counted at his time as an incomparable achievement. In 1899 he appeared at the Berlin Hofoper in the premiere of the (posthumous) operas ‘’Briseïs’’ of E. Chabrier, ‘’Cain’’ (1900) by E. d’Albert, ‘’Samson et Dalila’’ (1901) of C. Saint-Saëns, ‘’Der Pfeifertag’’ (1902) by M. von Schillings (after premiere in 1899 at the Hoftheater in Schwerin). He appeared as Faust in C. Gounod’s ‘’Faust’’ in a performance in which Geraldine Farrar made her debut at Berlin as Marguerite (15. 10. 1901). On 13. 12. 1904 he performed at the Berlin Hofoper in the unsuccessful premiere of the opera ‘’Der Roland von Berlin’’ by R. Leoncavallo. On 21. 3. 1899 he sang there also in the premiere of A. Lortzing’s opera ‘’Regina’’ (48 years after the death of the composer!). He made guest appearances in London and Amsterdam and in the 1895-1896 season sang with the Damrosch Opera Company in the USA. Probably he retired from the stage in 1911 and was active in Berlin as vocal pedagogue. Married to the known dramatic soprano Antonie Mielke (1856-1907).

At the latter he sang in the unsuccessful world premiere of Der Roland von Berlin.

November reading wrapup

hmmm pretty good month for quantity but hit or miss for quality, i either loved or hated almost all of these. 💆🏻‍♀️

1. the lover, marguerite duras — tumblr girl classic, ur fav web weaving posts almost definitely feature a snippet of this. like woah 😭 ok very timeless very vivid and real. I did cry.

2. icebreaker, hannah grace — this is EMBARASSINGGGGGG i was going to a hockey game and was like woah let me get into this mindset... into this world… THIS BOOK WAS MISLEADING i thought itd be equal parts hockey world ice skater world equal parts romance and no.. it was nothing of the sort... this was just tooooo porny like WAY too much, even for me. AND I USED TO WRITE SM- *gunshot*

3. throne of glass, sarah j mass — does anyone have any good fantasy series recs that arent this?? like this is what years without winds of winter will do to a woman. im settling for this subpar garbage. but i am gonna keep reading it bc what else do i have, george???

4. mickey7, edward ashton — been on my tbr since rob pattinson was announced to be the lead in this in the bong joon-ho movie… i feel like with the creatives behind it thisll end up being one of those rare bones and all situations where the adaptation is wayyyyy better than the book. but idk. book itself was whatever good concept but didnt even really go anywhere. i thought that i had guessed a twist lie 3 quarters of the way thru but there was no twist literally nothing happened. therefore MID

5. blood meridian, cormac mccarthy — the only other time i had like a visceral tummy churning reaction to a book like this was when i read theons chapters in a dance with dragons 😭😭😭 anyway i like the lack of quotation marks and i also find it easier to write without them SHOOT ME

6. death valley, melissa broder — im really endeared to broder as a writer because i feel like she can only do one thing really well and shes very self aware of that.. which i respect.. also what the protag is going thru here at the start of the book is something ive also gone thru and it felt very strangely accurate and bizarre as a real person reading about a fake person going thru it. and literally within the book the protag references how writers poorly portray their characters accurately 'going thru it' (i keep saying going thru it bcoz im trying not to spoil even tho no ones gonna read my recs ALTHO this one deserves to be read i think) so that was cray and meta but umm what im trying to say is.. melissa i wanted to go to ur book signing i literally had my day cleared in my planner for u. why did u have to cancel the event.

7. indelicacy, amina cain — public announcement i guess but hey girl @noumenongirl i think you would love this one i dont know why but the whole time i was reading i was just like woah she’d love this😭 i liked it a lot

8. the penelopiad, margaret atwood — this is what circe by madeline miller wanted and tried to be but failed tremendously at.....

9. crown of midnight, sarah j mass — was better than throne of glass in the beginning actually but then they halfway thru lost me again..

10. the assassins blade, sarah j mass — im just hate reading at this point like i dont have anything else to do. Celaena youll never be daenerys girl like stop

11. elvis and me, priscilla beaulieu presley — ohhhh…. :,(((( my fav celeb memoir yet i think.....

+ bonus — im gonna add this to my december list but im like 75% of the way with fourth wing rn, good fawking heavens i wishthat grrm could trademark copyright the concept of dragons like i dont think anyone should be allowed to write about DRAGONS only him. like mini spoilers for fourth wing SORRY but WHY DO THE DRAGONS SPEAK ENGLISH, WHY DO THEY EVEN SPEAK AT ALL....cringe. but better than throne of glass at least😭 but it doesnt take much to be better than throne of glass to be fair. Beau walked back down the aisle towards his booth, laughing with Nico. They were carrying a couple of takeout containers in their hands and drinks.

"And then she-" He stopped in his tracks, seeing balloons and streamers covering his booth with a big banner with Unown-painted letters with the text HAPPY BIRTHDAY. "What in the...?"

Haven popped his head out of the decorations and noticed that Beau was standing there with his mouth agape, turning to presumably face his two bandmates. "The Rose has bloomed! I repeat, the Rose has bloomed!"

Henry leaned out from behind the booth while Micah stood up from where he was crouched with streamers in his hands. Henry knocked on Haven's head. "I said we weren't doing code names. This isn't a spy mission, dummy."

"Hey! Code names are cool! You're just lame, Hen!" Haven snapped back, sticking his tongue out.

Micah sidled past the bickering pair and hugged his friend. "Happy birthday, Beau!"

"Thank you, but, Micah, what is going on? You're all supposed to be in Kalos!" Beau hugged him back, surprised but beyond excited to see the Monsters.

"We caught a red eye flight right after our concert so that we could be here to celebrate your birthday with you~" He explained, grinning.

"Beau, Beau! Happy birthday!" Haven shouted, hurrying over to give the brunet a hug and scooping him up.

He laughed, wrapping his arms around Haven's neck. "Thank you! Oh, gosh, I can't believe you're all here! And you decorated my booth? How did you do this?"

"We MAY have had a little bit of help." The redhead set his friend down and gave Nico a wink.

Beau spun on his heels and looked at Nico. "You brat! Is this why you had Astro kidnap me and were so insistent on treating me to lunch today?"

The shorter man let a sly grin sneak onto his face. "Maybe. Happy birthday, Beau."

He pulled the Alolan into a tight hug, laughing a little bit. "I can't believe you all!"

"Beaumont, be nice to your friends. Look at all they did for you, mon chou." Marguerite scolded her son gently, appearing from around the corner and opening arms for a hug.

"Maman! What are you doing here?" Beau hurried over to her and hugged his mother. "I thought we were celebrating together tonight when I got home!"

"That was the fake plan. This was the real one. I've got one of your neighbors watching the Pokémon back home. I also had some antsy little pants wanting to see you." She kissed his cheeks in greeting and motioned to Blaze, Uriah, and Wisteria that were waiting impatiently for their hugs.

Beau laughed and made sure all of his Pokémon and Henry, who was waiting just as impatiently, got their hugs and attention. He joked. "You aren't hiding anyone else on me, are you?"

A voice piped up from behind him with a chuckle. "No one besides me, I think."

Beau turned around, coming face to face with Cain. He jumped on the blond and wrapped his arms around him tightly, a little extra bounce in his step. "Cain! You sneaky little! You texted me saying you'd see me when I got back!"

"And I lied. Happy birthday, Beau!" The bar owner returned the hug, rubbing the brunet's back.

The Floaroma Sanctuary owner stood back, looking at all the people gathered there for him. "I can't believe you all! I just..."

He started to cry, wiping at his tears quickly. The clamoring started up again, everyone moving to make sure he was okay, and Moonpie made her way through everyone, nudging at his legs.

Beau leaned down and picked up Moonpie as she licked his face, and he smiled and sniffled. "I'm just so happy. Thank you, everyone. I'm the luckiest man on the planet right now."

The academy. Season premiere. Part one. Findlay’s out for Lucia’s blood when she finds out that Barnaby has been accepted into The Cabal Academy in California. First appearance of Winslow Fegley as Barnaby Sullivan and Walker Scobell as Jonah Sullivan.

Orientation. Season premiere. Part two. Sidney accompanies Barnaby to the Academy’s parent and child orientation weekend. With this episode Barnaby Sullivan is downgraded to a recurring role

Three branches. Birch’s team, ACS&Associates and Solaris’s squad band together when the precinct burns down overnight.

Empty nest syndrome. Jonah, feeling suffocated by a very clingy Findlay, sneaks away to Drummond’s apartment in Greenwich to get some time for himself.

Kicking her ass into gear. Drummond admits Findlay back into Melinda’s office to combat her empty nest syndrome. Guest starring Alfre Woodward as Dr Melinda Crenshaw.

Family law. With the precinct rebuilt. The team help Maybelle on a missing persons case involving her ex husband. Final appearance of Paul Rudd as Conrad Rhys. Guest starring Laverne Cox as Maybelle Archer an Liv Hewson as Conrad and Maybelle’s child Mattie Rhys

Mixed doubles. Drummond’s satyr instincts cause trouble when Odessa signs them up for a charity tennis tournament with Lysander and Tina.

You can really tell the ending of dc bombshells united was rushed as it was canceled cause like suddenly the radio semi narrator just hits us with "oh youve been with us when katanna did this, and etta candy did that, and cass cain did this and aquawoman did that other thing and harley quinn and poison ivy did this other thing and batwoman did that other thing" and like Bitch!!! Whost??? You just gave us a few panels of katanna and cass before this not to mention the fact you never even showed us a design for etta candy! And you never took us on batwomans, harley and ivys, and aquawomans other adventures you mentioned. Like i feel like youre mocking us for letting this series get canceled.
