ok I need a little help, I'm looking for a story about Mikey that I had read on Archives.
Basically, it was either an X Reader or an X Oc, I'm not sure... but the story takes place during the original timeline, where Mikey falls into a vegetative state.
In this story Reader meets Mikey while he is in a vegetative state, Reader is the sister of a friend of Shinichiro. She gets attached very quickly to Mikey, she comes to see him at the hospital every day, plays with him even if he can't, just spends time with him. There's even a moment when Wakaso tells Shinichiro that maybe Reader likes Mikey.
Afterwards, a man rapes Reader, she stops visiting Mikey, Shinichiro's gang finds the guy who is Reader's comrade, Reader's brother kills him and he is imprisoned. Shortly after Mikey dies around the age of 14-15, Shinichiro is devastated by his brother's death and Reader's condition. He becomes the time traveler who manages to save his brother from his fall.
Thereafter, he returns to the present, but some year before Mikey's death (when he was around 10-12 instead of 14-15) and the drama of Reader. Mikey is alive and well and in normal condition, however in this new timeline he learns that Reader and Mikey never met. Afterwards, Sanzu comes because he is the trigger and he remembers everything (Original timeline events, Shinichiro's suicide...)
Then, I don't really know how but, Shinichiro asks about Reader and he learns that in this new timeline Reader was raped earlier than in the original and that she and her brother moved in... by the way. later, Shinichiro meets them, during this timeline Reader is totally traumatized and his brother was not imprisoned by the guy who raped his sister was never found by Shinichiro's gang.
Sanzu remembers Reader and was very grateful to him for taking care of Mikey while he was in this state. Sanzu decides to protect Reader, and he kills the guy who raped him (In my memories, implied in the story)
Shinichiro sincerely hopes that Mikey can succeed in being Reader's friend (Even though Mikey finds Shinichiro's behavior strange, especially when he insists on Mikey being his friend and more, he decides to do his best to to be able to become his friend)
Afterwards, when Mikey creates his gang, Sanzu asks to be Reader's protector.
Okay... I said basically but I just told you a summary of all the chapters that was available about a few months or even 1 year ago. I really want to see if this story has continued, if so, I absolutely want to read it again but I can't find it anymore... I hope someone can help me...

The room is dark except for the city lights that shine from the window. It’s not enough to keep either of them awake. The blanket is pulled up to under her chin as her head rests on his chest. One of his arms is around her, holding her as she curled up against him. His lips press into her hair and she closes her eyes, letting herself relax in his grip. His heartbeat sounds in her ear, lulling her into sleep.
---
She’s not sure where she is or how she ended up here, but it doesn’t matter. Not when someone’s standing on the edge, staring out at the people below. Her heart feels like it stops in her chest. She can’t let him jump. She can’t. She’s not the person to turn away from something like this.
“Hey!” She calls out, moving forward. He turns slowly, not leaning forward but not stepping down either. “Don’t do it, okay?”
His stare is blank, half hidden behind blond hair he’s letting fall in his face. He tilts his head slightly to the side as he finally looks at her. “Do what?”
“Look, I know things might seem bad right now but this isn’t the right choice. Things can change!”
He looks back out at the city. “Nothing changes.”
“It does!” she insists. “I promise it does!” She doesn’t know why she’s so frantic, so determined to help him, but she is. She can’t let him do this. Not when she’s here. “I don’t know what’s happened in your life, what you’ve gone through, but nothing is bad enough to end it all because of how you feel in this moment. It will pass. I have no doubt that people will miss you! That there’s at least someone in your life who cares!”
He looks back at her. “No one would miss me. Not really.” He tilts his head to the sky. “My men would say they would but they’d be fine.”
“I don’t believe that,” she says, trying to be as earnest as possible. “What about your friends?”
“Don’t have any. I pushed them away. It’s safer like that. They deserve better and everyone–” He turns back to face the city, taking his hands out of his pockets. Fear shoots through her that he’s going to lean forward and it’ll be over. “No one’s gonna miss me.”
“I would!” She reaches for him, grabbing the back of his shirt, ready to pull him back if she has to. She’s not letting this happen. “I’ll miss you and if you take that step, we’re never going to get the chance to be friends. Don’t do it!” She says it quickly and feels a seismic shift within her, a heavy weight that she can’t explain.
When he looks at her this time, it’s like he finally sees her. His eyes widen slightly but he shakes his head. “You don’t want to be my friend,” he says softly, looking away again. “Everyone around me dies.”
“So what?” His gaze snaps back to hers as soon as she says it. “Everyone dies. It doesn’t mean we should take their deaths for granted or let ourselves die with them. We have to live our lives to the best that we can, to take care of each other and find whatever can make us happy. Death doesn’t mean that life shouldn’t be worth living.”
His mouth falls open slightly but she nods to herself, feeling like she’s starting to actually get through to him. If he’s grieving, he can heal from that. “Please. Come down. Talk to me.” She tightens her grip on his shirt. “Please.”
“Why do you care?” he finally asks.
“Because I do,” she says, unable to put it into words. She couldn’t live with herself if she never tried. “Okay,” he says and steps closer to her. She lets go only when he’s away from the edge of the roof.
She doesn’t know how much time passes, but the sun is starting to rise and Mikey is staring at her like he’s never seen anything like her before. He’s sweet, even if he’s a little lost, and she can’t help but appreciate the way he listens to her, the way he teases her gently as they sit on this roof.
When he calls her name, he’s no longer beside her. He’s standing back on that edge, silhouetted by the sunrise. He reaches for her and she runs to stop him, to grab his hand and keep him there with her. Her heartbeat races as he smiles at her.
“Don’t you wish you pushed me?”
He yanks her towards him, falling back off of the roof and dragging her with him. She tries to scream as she falls, but she doesn’t hit the ground. Mikey’s hands are on her, weighing her down as the world turns black around them. It tightens around her, leaving her clawing at the pressure to escape, to breathe, before she drowns–
---
She wakes up fast. Heart pounding, gasping for air that she can suddenly breathe. She sits up, looking around the dark of the room as reality slowly hits. It was a dream. Just a dream. But she almost feels like she’s still falling. It felt real. Too fucking real.
She glances quickly at the man still sleeping next to her. A miracle, really, considering how little he sleeps. She eases herself out of his embrace, turning to press her feet against the cold floor. It was a memory. That’s all, but she needs to feel grounded. She doesn’t dare leave the room, but she takes the chance to get out of the bed. Arms wrapped around herself, trying to stop the way she’s shaking, she moves for the large window that’s the only source of light she can get without waking him.
The city skyline is bright against the dark sky.
It looks vibrant in contrast. Lively. Full of hopes and dreams and promises you know will never be kept. The lights of the city just highlight how dark the shadows are and how many there are. Everyone always focuses on the lights but it’s in the darkness that you know the truth of the city really comes out. There are those that thrive in the dark, those that wander in without warning and the unlucky souls who are thrown in. The city hides them all. She’s just not sure who to pity more.
She hears movement behind her and she forces herself to relax. It’s no surprise he’s waking up. He never seems to sleep long, not if she’s not there.
“What are you doing?” he asks, still sounding half asleep. It’s rare he lets himself show this sort of vulnerability. He only does it now with her and only when they’re alone. It should be an honour. It should be more than a noose around her neck.
“I had a weird dream. Didn’t want to fall back asleep and I didn’t want to wake you.” She turns to look at him and offers a small smile. “You need your sleep.”
His hair is tousled and his dark eyes are half open, still processing the situation. It reminds her of when he was younger. When he used to lay with his head in her lap in the sun and she’d run her fingers through his hair, listening as he talked. She can tell when he fully starts to wake up because his stare deadens and he sits up properly.
“Come back to bed,” he demands.
“I’m not tired,” she says softly, knowing that isn’t what he wants to hear. She hears him shift in bed, his back hitting the headboard as he sits up fully. She closes her eyes for a moment, wishing he had just kept sleeping so she could have this moment.
“What did you dream about?”
“When we first met, only it wasn’t…it wasn’t right.” She doesn’t say more than that.
“The day you saved me.”
Her eyes clench shut. “I didn’t save you,” she says. “You were never going to jump. I just made an assumption and you let me talk and talk and talk until the sun came up.”
She had left once they parted ways, when he promised to take care of himself, to talk to his friends and she assumed that it was over. She had done her part, she had tried and she was never going to see him again.
Except that she did.
She greeted him with joy at the fact that he was still alive, unquestioning how he ended up at her work. He seemed surprised but pleased and before she knew it, she was introduced to his men. She was drowning before she even realized he had dragged her into waters she couldn’t survive in on her own.
Mikey had made her fall in love with him before revealing the complete truth about himself. It was too late after that. Not only did he cling tightly, ensuring that she knew that she was the one who brought meaning back into his life, but his men liked him when she was with him. She was good for him. They didn’t care that he wasn’t good for her.
“Come back to bed,” he tells her again.
She doesn’t move. The distance between them seems like a gaping chasm that she stands on the precipice of. Like the dream that she woke from, except that this is a nightmare she can’t escape. She loves him, she probably always will, but she’s afraid of him too. She knows exactly what he commands. She can’t bring herself to crawl back in next to him, to feel the way he curls himself around her, as though his hands aren’t stained in blood. She turns back to the window. How many people down there are under his control? How many are mourning lovers, family, or friends because of the man behind her and his men? How much blood is on her hands, unable to stop him and unwilling to try?
She wonders if falling from this height would feel like flying. A last moment of freedom instead of fear, a choice of her own making, that would release her from this. A suitable punishment for what she’s never tried to stop.
It’s funny. She used to be the one to talk someone off of the edge and now she’s lost that part of her. She’s always been too smart for her own good, even if she was a bit naive, and she knows that if she had protested any of the choices Mikey has made, it wouldn’t have made a difference. Not with the men around him.
“Step away from the window.” He’s no longer willing to tolerate her disobedience. “Come back to sleep. Don’t make me come to get you.”
She moves automatically at his tone. She swallows tightly as she crawls back into the bed. Mikey waits until she’s in before he moves closer, resting his head on her shoulder and throwing an arm over her waist. She lifts one hand and runs her fingers through his hair, nails scratching gently on his scalp. His irritation fades as he holds her tighter. She feels the way he breathes her in, how he relaxes against her.
“You’re not leaving me.” His voice is quiet but there’s no room for argument.
“I never said I was,” she replies just as softly. She was just thinking about it.
“You can’t. I refuse to let anyone have you. Even death. You’re mine.”
She hums softly. “We all die eventually, Mikey. But don’t worry, I’ll let you go first.”
He laughs at that like she’s teasing him. “I’m not going anywhere without you. You promised forever, remember?” There’s a threat there. He would kill her before he killed himself, and if she somehow survived, she knows his men would never forgive her. Sanzu would ensure she followed Mikey whether she liked it or not.
“Yeah,” she looks up at the ceiling. “I remember.”
She just wishes she didn’t.

❝i don’t know what i’m supposed to do haunted by the ghost of you, oh take me back to the night we met.❞

"no, no, no! please stop!" she whimpered, helplessly laying on the floor as her body weakly crawled further away from the figure. the little girl was struck with fear, traumatized by the sight in front of her.
she could never forget the way he menacingly smiled at her before turning around his body, a loud series of what felt like ear deafening firecrackers being set off.
her body froze, the tiny figure trembling on the cold wooden floor that would be soon soaking up with blood. she wanted to scream, yell her lungs out to beg someone just anyone at all to help her.
"you're next, little one." she heard him say as he inched closer to her, the horrid smell of alcohol and cigarettes defiling her sense of smell, making her want to puke. she quickly scrambled, grabbing the flower vase on the small table as she aimed for his head but he dodged it.
"how cute, but how about i aim this at you and see if you could miss it, hm? now wouldn't that be fun?" he continued, a chuckle leaving his mouth as he pointed the machinery gun at her.
her eyes widened, heart stopping, and that's when the old nori was gone. seeing everyone in her life disappear within seconds and waiting for the moment for her to meet the same fate.
she was only fifteen.
---
"please!" nori shot up from the bed, panting hard due to her irregular breathing, while cold sweat began to trickle down the sides of her face. her hair was a mess, and she couldn't help but close her eyes and squeeze both of her hands tightly together to get some kind of stability over herself.
it was just a bad dream. a really, really, really bad dream. he's not here, he's gone and he won't come back.
after finally calming down, she opened her eyes, looking around the dark room in search for her clock. it was almost eleven, meaning that she has only slept for two hours. a heavy sigh left her lips as she leaned back on the headboard, staring at her wall.
peaceful as it was for now, that's when her eyes began to deceive her.
still paranoid from her dream, even the shadows of the trees began to looking like his figure. but of course, nori was too out of it to piece it together. her hands gripped the blanket tighter, pulling them up to her mouth as she felt like someone was restricting her airway, feeling it difficult to allow oxygen to pass through her lungs.
please, just leave me alone! why won't you go away?
nori was on the brink of tears, her body violently shaking as she felt like it was that night over again. the shadow began to inch closer, the arms holding a long cylindrical like object.
her eyes widened in shock, it was the same weapon from that day too.
"please, why are you here again? what do you want from me?!" nori cried out, tired and afraid of her brain eating her alive for the past six years of her life. not knowing if he'll come for her after getting released from jail or how to cope with her family's death.
she just wanted to disappear without a trace.
she just wanted to run away, somewhere far away from here. where it was just her.
no, where it was just her and manjiro. yeah, that sounds better.
the free arm of the figure rose, point the index finger straight at her and as if on cue she heard a loud booming noise coming from a direction that she didn't even bother to figure out. a choked out scream left her mouth as nori tumbled out of bed, her hair falling to her face.
but she didn't care, she scrambled to her feet, knocking down the things near her with her out of control body movements as she ran out the door. she never looked back, running as fast and far as her legs could take her.
the cold winter wind hit her flesh, sending goosebumps all over her skin. she was a sobbing mess, heart pounding in her chest as she began taking random turns, anything to get away from him.
and it was ironic, a girl who wished to die was now running for her life. and that was the one thing that nori didn't understand about herself.
she could vividly remember her fifteen-year-old self ready for the consequences, allowing the murderer to end her life with just a mere bullet striking her head or chest. what was the point of living if there was no one to be by her side?
but it was different now, so different.
she wanted to live, she wanted to grow old and go to places that she dreamt of and do the things she has never done before. she wanted to see what more life has to offer, other than the remorseful feeling of living with survivors guilt.
nori wanted to do it all with manjiro.
he was the reason why she wanted to live for another day, see him once again, and do the things that they had promised each other. she wanted to go ice skating with him, see the orion constellation, eat dorayaki under an umbrella while it rained, and take care of kei.
nori wanted to live.
she took her last turn, hands on her knees as she crouched down to catch her breath from running for almost fifteen minutes straight. nori had no idea where the hell she was but when she looked up, she was stunned.
it was the park.
was i running around in circles?
she wondered, looking back in paranoia, hoping that she didn't lead that jackass here. cautiously, nori walked inside the park as she made herself walk towards the wooden small walkway bridge that went over the river.
the girl peered down at the water, feeling the temperature drop a bit more, but she didn't mind. nori felt her nerves calm down, that was until she heard the loud booming noises once again.
instinctively, she turned around and stood in a position of self-defense. she wasn't dying without a fight. but the color on her face drained once she turned around.
her mind playing games as it almost seemed like the figure multiplied himself, coming at her in all directions to surround her. her breath hitched, a shaky gasp leaving her lips as she fell on the ground, her knees giving up from all the running and drained out from the emotional wreckage she's been through.
it's no use, i can't do anything more. this is where it end, isn't this a bit too cruel? i never asked for this, all i ever wanted, was to live with everyone. i guess that's too much to ask for.
nori bitterly laughed, salty tears falling onto the wood below her as she cried in despair. there was no saving her now, so she just accepted it.
she felt weight on her left shoulder, as someone tapped her which made her yelp in surprise before shutting her eyes tightly.
"please don't hurt me!" nori blurted out, her cheeks wet with tears and the person in front of her looked down with concern and horror.
"nori? it's me, manjiro, i'm not gonna hurt you." he softly said, bringing a hand down to caress her cheeks as he wiped away her tears. nori recognized the familiar feeling of skin on hers, opening her eyes to only be met by the same onyx color she loved seeing.
nori didn't know whether it was all an illusion or if he was really there, but she was happy to see him, real or not.
"manjiro!" she breathed out in relief, getting up with her wobbly legs before throwing herself on him.
manjiro quickly caught her, feeling her legs wrap around his waist and arms protectively wrapped around his neck. he was confused on what had shaken the poor girl up this bad, wanting to get to the bottom of it.
"don't worry, i got you. i'm here, it's just me and you, nori." he assured, soothingly rubbing her back as her tears began to wet his shirt. a series of loud crackling noises went off, making nori's grip on him tighten.
"please, make it stop, jiro. make him stop!" nori loudly sobbed out, shaking within his embrace as the poor boy stood there dumbfounded. he had no clue who you were talking about since no one else was in the park.
the fireworks had already started as he heard them start a while ago, waiting for nori's arrival so that they both could watch it together. he never expected things to twist this way, but he didn't care. the well-being of nori was more important to him than anything else.
"okay, let's go. i know a place where no one could come." manjiro began to walk with the weeping girl in his arms, and soon enough he walked deeper into the park.
nori raised her head, vision blurry from her tears as she tried to make out her surrounding. she squinted, not recognizing the place.
"where are we, jiro?" her voice cracked a bit, making him hum as he sat her down on the ground before plopping himself next to her.
the area was beautiful, a water fountain that was still operating in front of them. there was still grass on the ground and some tiny flowers, which was surprising considering the winter weather.
"my secret hideout. i like to come here often to clear my mind, you know, when the world gets too loud." manjiro explained, turning his face to look at her with a comforting smile. nori looked at him and couldn't help but smile herself.
he was like this protective wall, shielding her from her thoughts and anything else that could potentially harm her. nori didn't know how to get the words out of her mouth, it felt like they were lodged in her throat.
"you're not obligated to explain anything to me, nori. but, i just want to tell you that whatever has been bothering you to make you randomly wander into an abandoned park at night without any care and make you feel this way just like the night we first met, your feelings are valid." manjiro said each and every word so delicately, she didn't know how to react.
nori was struck, a fuzzy feeling coating her chest. those words were all it took for her to lose it, unable to control her emotions once again as she covered her face with the palm of her hands to protect her pathetic sobbing face away from him.
do i even deserve this? no, i don't deserve him.
manjiro quickly pulled her on his chest, his fingers stroking her back as he gave her time to let it all out and compose herself. he didn't care whether she wanted to share her story or not because right now his only goal was to make her feel better.
"why me? they didn't deserve to go out like, i'm tired of carrying the burden of being able to live on my shoulders. i never asked for this, it's not my fault!" nori cried out as she shook her head in denial, choking on her words as manjiro simply remained quiet, paying attention to her words while nodding.
"my family was murdered about six years ago, a ruthless beast breaking into our house before taking away their lives. my mother wasn't aware that my dad got involved with a powerful loan shark, needing the money to cover my little sister's medical bills since she was diagnosed with heart failure." she explained, pausing a few times mid-sentence as she could just see the event flash before her very eyes once again. it was trauamtic, scarring her for the rest of her life as she knew well enough that she would never recover from it.
"that bastard had no mercy on anyone, not even my little sister who was ill. she was only ten, she still had hope to live a life that waited for her. who gave him the right to steal that away from her? all because of money? a bunch of paper that us shitty humans put value on?" nori looked at manjiro, eyes glossed with tears that soon streamed down her cheeks as she spoke.
manjiro brought his hand down to grab her trembling ones, squeezing it for comfort as she harshly swallowed, sniffling before opening her mouth to continue.
"it was too late for him to come at me, the police got here before he could do so. i could never forget the look that he gave me at the door, it makes my skin crawl every time." she shuddered, silence taking over the atomosphere for a quick minute before manjiro sighed out.
"i never knew that you were going through so much all alone. nori, i need you to listen to me very carefully, okay?" manjiro requested, but the girl looked down at her lap.
"i know what you'll say, that it's not my fault and that it'll eventually get better. i've heard it all, but it's all a bunch of lies. it never gets better, and once it does for a while, it's ruined. everything's always ruined!" nori yelled, frustrated and fed up.
manjiro gently took a hold of the sides of her face, turning her around to face him and meet her eyes. his heart wrenched in pain, feeling it bleed from how hurt she looked.
"nori, you need to understand that it truly wasn't your fault. you were just a kid, you didn't know that this would happen or what to do. running away from this won't make you go back in time and change anything. you need to accept things as it is, and heal from it. i know your parents wouldn't want to see their daughter live in such misery and i know your little sister wouldn't want to see her big sister wishing that she was dead. live for them nori, life has so much more to offer." he advised her, taking his fingers to wipe away her tears as she listened to his words.
nori couldn't help but grip on his shirt tighter, pulling him closer to her as she buried her face into his chest, feeling his arms lace around her waist.
"how could you be this kind to someone like me? someone as selfish as me." nori questioned, not having the guts to look at him in eye.
"selfish for escaping death? that's crazy talk." manjiro lightly chuckled, making her break into a small giggle as well as she calmed down from that frenzy of overpowering emotions.
and that's how they stayed like for ten minutes, nori sitting on manjiro's lap as he allowed her to be engulfed in his warmth and embrace.
"i had a brother and a sister." manjiro started, making nori pinch her eyebrows in confusion as she was able to take note of his wording.
"had?" she asked, making him suck in air before releasing it to compose himself.
"they both passed away. my older brother got stuck in the head by my best friend who didn't know any better at the age of twelve and my little sister also got struck in the head by some hit and run." his body became stiff, making nori pull away to face him as she saw his eyes becoming red, tears threatening to spill out.
"i really looked up to him, you know? he was never popular among the ladies, probably cause his farts stinked, but he was so kind and forgiving. shinichiro was the best big brother i could ever ask for. and emma? she was the most sweetest, caring little sister ever." manjiro revealed, lips tugging on the sides to form a small smile as he pictured the faces of his siblings in his mind.
"it must've been so hard for you, jiro. i'm so sorry that you had to go through that all alone." nori softly said, coming out as a whisper as she brought his head to her chest, stroking his hair.
"don't be sorry for me. i always believed that i'm a curse, bringing death among my loved ones. emma and shinichiro died because of someone who was involved with me. isn't that so awful of me?" he weakly smiled, warm tears trickling down his cheeks before seeping into the fabric of nori's sweater.
"a curse? you're the best thing that has ever happened to me. you deserve the whole world, and if i could, then i would give it to you myself." her eyes sparkled as she looked down to face him, manjiro looking at her with nothing but pure adoration before guilt sank into him.
"that's too generous of you for someone like me." he laughed, sitting up as he dried his eyes. however, nori shook her head.
"manjiro, your siblings deaths wasn't your fault. it was out of your control, so stop thinking that  you're an awful person. i can't even explain to you in words how much you mean to me and how you really did save me." nori continued to ramble, making him blush at her words as he felt his body shoot up with heat, which was unusual for his usally frigid cold body temperature.
"you really mean it?" manjiro asked, his ears not believing what he heard. it's been so long, so long since he's heard someone assure him like that.
" of course, i do." nori said with a bright smile, making him reciprocate one back to her.
"thank you for taking me here." nori said with gratitude, making a small laugh escape his throat.
"just say the word and your wish is my command, you know that. i'd do anything for you, nori." he honestly said, eyes shimmering with a loving glint that set her heart on fire.
"stay with me." she whispered, making manjiro's heart skip a beat as her own one was beating in her chest rapidly.
"nori.." he trailed off but the girl beat him to it.
"stay with me, jiro. i need you to be here with me, to give me purpose. to tell me that everything is okay even if it's not. i need you to be here to hold me because i can't live without you. i love you, i love you a lot." nori admitted, hopeful eyes looking at him as she could slowly feel her heart cracking from how he's stalling.
maybe it was too early to confess or maybe she wasn't the one for him. but she couldn't help it any longer, her feelings were getting too much for her to control.
"who said that i was leaving, hm? i love you too much to let go." manjiro chuckled before leaning in, closing the remaining space between them.
nori closed her eyes, feeling his soft lips on hers. an electric spark shooting up her spine once she felt one of her hands push her waist forwards to brush her body against his. his other hand softly touching on her cheek, tilting his face at an angle to deepend the kiss.
he smelled and tasted so sweet, she craved more of him. more of his touch, more of his taste, more of him. nori wanted him all to herself so bad, she couldn't let go.
she was madly in love with him and so was he.
manjiro smiled against her lips, contented as the both of them finally came to terms with their feelings and that made nori smile as well. as if on cue, the fireworks went off as they could hear people cheering in the distance.
the new year was here, which meant new beginnings.
"lets live for each other, jiro." nori said before leaning in first this time, planting a kiss on his lip before going in for another slower kiss, not giving him the chance to speak, loving the feeling of his lips on her.
it was addicting and she was excited to start this new beginning with him.

Manjiro Sano x OC, Mikey kills the founders and close friends before leaving for the Philippines.
A/N: Honestly got very emotional writing this!
Cw: Angst, use of guns, blood, death (don't think I missed any but let me know if I did!
-----------------------------------------------------
After Takemichi left Toman, it started to change under Mikey's rule. He was never the same as he used to be, almost as if something was controlling him that no one could see. What people didn't know is that is exactly what was going on.
Due to this, Toman was starting to take a more violent approach, causing most to either leave or follow orders out of fear. Hidemi would have been following under Mikey down this path since she didn't have much regard for her own life after losing Keisuke Baji. Yet sadly, Hidemi was forcefully taken back home and moved to a more remote part of Japan, which only meant for her a life of suffering and pain of various levels.
Losing the light in her eyes, as well as losing countless battles of abuse from her father Hidemi was now littered in scars all over her face and body. Her personality changing entirely to that was a shattered being.
When she could, Hidemi left home and moved back to Central Tokyo but she didn't return to the life of delinquency and when Mikey caught wind of this, he took it as a betrayal of a different kind. Having already killed Hakkai, Chifuyu as well as Mitsuya and Draken, Mikey knew he had one last job to do before he could flee the country and lead a different life.
Once finding her, Mikey stood in mostly silence until Hidemi looked up and saw Mikey, forcing a small smile to don her face even if her eyes were sunken and heavy. "It's been a while, hasn't it, Mikey?" She asked, voice void of any previous happiness she had. Her eyes soon landed on the gun in the man's hand, looking up to him once again. "Seems you have a plan for me, huh?". Mikey stared at her blankly for a moment, formulating a sentence in his head before speaking, "You never came back to me once you arrived here. Why?" He waited for her to reply, but she shook her head a little and smiled more "C'mon take my hand whilst I go?" She asked, feeling her eyes start to water." At least you can put my suffering to an end..." she muttered. Mikey, albeit confused, decided to comply and took the outstretched hand into his own.
*bang*
Briefly feeling her heart stop and skip several beats upon feeling a bullet enter her lower abdominal area, she shakily smiled to Mikey. Her frail hand now clutches the pale man's in her own as her dead purple eyes met his equally dead grey ones. "I always wanted to return to you, M-mikey... I just...w-wanted to be strong enough for you. " This causes Mikey's heart to skip a beat, for the first time out of the 5 victims before he felt something he hadn't before. Guilt. As guilt filled his system he dropped the gun and carefully took Hidemi into his arms, but not letting go of her hand as she lifted her head weakly to meet his "Thank you Mikey...I'll make sure to watch over you with Shinichiro..." she uttered with her fleeting breath. Tears formed in Mikeys eye's as he kept them locked with his dying friend and childhood partner in his arms, knowing there was no way he could stop this. "Until we meet again...sad its raining so heavily."
With that, the light finally left her eyes and the final fated breathe left her scarred mouth, head lulling against his chest and hand going limp. Mikey held onto her a little longer, basking in the last moments he would ever get to share with her before slowly carrying her to the river bank where they shared so many memories at once before. As the sun started to rise, he took his leave and made his way to his new life in the Philippines.

Mikey fervently captured your lips with an open mouthed kiss, nothing but a desperate – yet very cute, attempt to hide his whimpers; his breath was ragged and uneven, his cheeks were flushed red, and his inexperienced fingers were almost hesitantly resting against your hips.
«You can touch me, pretty boy.» you confidently smiled at him, as you grinded your hips against his, creating enough friction to stimulate the both of you but not enough to get you off yet.
Nervously licking his lips, Mikey nodded at your words, and as you leaned back, balancing yourself on his firm thighs to move from a new angle, your boyfriend’s fingers started to explore your body, as he tried not to completely get lost in pleasure.
It was indeed a cute sight; you could feel Mikey’s thighs tense against yours anytime you purposely clenched against his length, and he would hide his face in the crook of your neck every now and then, hungrily nibbling at the skin of your neck between panted moans.
Shaky fingers wrapped themselves around your wrists, and you glanced at Mikey for any sign of discomfort; as if he was reading your mind, he quickly shook his head, mumbling a quiet «come here», his usual upbeat tone now huskier and filled with need. He placed your hands on his shoulders, and you scoffed, trying to hide a smile because, of course, you knew what he was trying to do and of course, you complied to his silent request.
Threading your fingers between Mikey’s golden hair you gave it a harsh tug, making your boyfriend moan almost sinfully in return, his hips stuttering against yours as he came with your name on his lips as if it was a prayer.
«Holy fucking hell,» you whined to yourself, vigorously shaking your head as if the gesture alone would have made those intruding thoughts slip away from your mind through your ears, as if you just took a dive in a pool and you were not still at work.
«Why am I even remembering that, now?» you mumbled to yourself, somehow exasperated with your own thoughts process, as you grabbed both your jacket and your bag, walking towards the front door of the shop you worked in just to check if the door was actually closed.
Quick flashbacks of a boy with golden hair kept alternating in your memory, and you sighed to yourself in deject.
“It’s almost Halloween,” you thought, distressed fingertips weakly fixing your glasses; on Halloween night, six years ago, you and Mikey ended once and for all your relationship.
Mikey had undoubtedly been the love of your life, that was the only thing you were certain about; moreover, sadly enough, even if you willingly had other relationships and met new people, you constantly faced the fact that you couldn’t bring yourself to love anyone else.
However, you had to face the fact that – despite the love they shared, not every couple was meant to be together and so, life made sure for you and Mikey to never see each other again for years.
Six years, three months and still counting, to be exact.
Of course, you couldn’t know that yet, but fate indeed had its own way to ask for forgiveness.
Tumblr media
As you finished placing your groceries in the trunk of your car, a familiar voice calling your name made you almost slam your head against its roof due to sudden surprise; with an unceremonious movement, you immediately leaned back and, as cliché as it sounded, you could swear that time started to flow in slow motion.
As unexpected as finding your favourite ice-cream on sale, Mikey was standing few feet from you; the long golden hair you were so enamoured with were now slightly longer and as black as a starless night sky and still, he looked handsome.
«Hi?» you weakly offered with a smile, nervously playing with the keys in your hands; your heart – that traitor, immediately started hammering in your chest, as if to remind you that yes, after all this time, Mikey still had the power to give your butterflies with nothing but a gentle smile.
«Hi.» he echoed as he took few steps closer to you; however, the tender smile adorning his lips fell as soon as he saw you take an almost imperceptible step back. Mikey misinterpreted your action, and thinking something along the lines of “what was I even expecting?”, he stopped walking.
Mikey’s nervous stance mirrored yours, and he placed his hands in his pockets, tilting his head to the side; the fact that you kept avoiding his gaze deeply saddened him, especially because – judging by your behaviour, he felt like a fool for hanging onto his feelings for so many years.
Six years and five months, just to be clear.
«How…» you nervously cleared your throat, finally mustering enough courage to meet your ex lover’s gentle gaze, «how have you been?»
«Good,» he Mikey seemed to relax a little bit at your attempt to keep the conversation going, and he nodded at your question, «I’ve- I just got back in town, you know. How- How are you doing?»
“He just got back?” you thought, finally finding an answer to the fact that, despite occasionally and of course, by chance, walking through the places he used to go more frequently, you never saw him once.
«I’m okay!» you quickly nodded at his question. The conversation that the two of you were having was both incredibly awkward and painful to see, but still, no one knows how you managed to entertain a vain and small talk for few minutes. Most importantly, in your heart, it was as if neither you nor Mikey wanted for that unexpected meeting to end.
«We should see each other sometimes,» Mikey casually offered, and you did your best to hide your surprised expression, «you know, to catch up.»
«Of course.» you immediately answered, making the boy smile. That’s how you and Mikey exchanged your phone numbers with the promise to have dinner together.
“What am I doing?” you thought as soon as you got back in your car, “I’m pushing thirties and I’m still blushing like a high-schooler.”
“What am I doing?” Mikey thought as soon as he started the engine of his bike, “I’m a gang leader, and I acted as flustered as the first time I asked her out.”
Tumblr media
In the end, you ended up at Mikey’s place to eat take out food. At some point of the night, you had to admit to yourself that you had no reason to feel nervous in the first place; of course, you tensed up as soon as Mikey admitted to be a gang leader but still, judging from the expensive apartment with an amazing view over the city, you didn’t expect any less.
Mikey and you spent your time together talking and joking around, and you felt like after all, no time had passed from those days – years ago, where Mikey used to crash at your apartment just to spend time with each other.
Of course, one thing led to another and, somewhere in between casual touches and lingering gazes, you found yourself admiring the view from Mikey’s apartment while your forehead was pressed against the glass window, your breath occasionally fogging a little part of its cold surface.
The fact that you were glancing outside was a blatant lie because, how could you focus on anything else when Mikey was moving his hips against yours creating an oh, so delicious friction?
Mikey mindlessly traced a path of open-mouthed kisses on your nape, as he was slowly moving his hips against yours; your left cheek and your chest were now pressed against the window’s cold glass, and your back was arched as much as you managed to in the desperate attempt to feel more. Although the position wasn’t entirely comfortable for you, Mikey made up for it with bold touches here and there; his fingertips would ghost under your blouse, tracing their way from your throat to your clit.
Mikey’s moves were passionate, bold and almost calculated, and much to your dismay, there was no trace of the extremely shy and clumsy Mikey that asked you to ruin him while being sprawled on your bed.
This Mikey was restlessly fucking you against a window while mumbling against your skin how much he missed you. Hiding a pleased smile in the crook of your neck after hearing your needy whimpers, Mikey’s right hand pressed against the hand you were pressing against the window, just to somehow intertwine your fingers together.
Honestly, you were certain that there was molten core pooling in your lower abdomen, however, before you could beam yourself in the sensation of your orgasm, Mikey gradually slowed the pace of his hips until he eventually stopped moving.
«So big, Mikey,» you breathed, moving your hips backward in order to look for more friction, as his left hand stopped stimulating your clit, «you’re so big.»
«Am I?» he questioned with a smug tone, as the fingertips of his left hand were mindlessly caressing your hipbone. It didn’t take long for you to realize what he was trying to do, since it was something you had loved to do with him many years ago; between touches and kisses, Mikey kept teasing you, his only goal for you to beg him to let you come. Of course, you would be lying if you were to say that back then, you didn’t beam yourself in the sight of Mikey’s watering eyes and blushy cheeks as he begged you to let him come after you’ve teased him for hours; however, you’d never expected for your actions to backfire like this.
Doing your best to ignore Mikey’s length occasionally twitching inside you anytime you clenched around him, you reached back with your left hand, but before you could intertwine your fingertips in his raven black hair, you found both your hands being pressed against the window.
«Here I thought I was being good enough for you.» he mumbled against your neck, as he left another trail of open mouthed kisses. The grip around your hands tightened, and you decided that for once, you didn’t have to be the one in control; after all, judging by how quickly you were about to reach your first orgasm, you had to admit to yourself that this new side of Mikey was definitely alluring.
«Let me cum, Mikey, please.» although your voice was barely a whisper, your ex lover decided that still, it was okay to him; during the years, he had desired to be with you for so many nights that now that he finally had the chance, he didn’t want to waste time with unnecessary role-play.
Mikey slid out of you, gently taking your hand to lead you towards the nearest couch in his expensive and wide living room; you both quickly finished undressing yourselves – you discarded your blouse and your bra while Mikey simply took off his shirt, before he let you climb on top of him and quickly slid back inside of you while trying to hide a needy hiss, his head leaning back against the couch.
Like good old times, you were now riding Mikey, alternating sensual moves of your hips to occasional grinding against each other; however, he quickly noticed the fact that you still seemed to be hesitant about something, since your hands were locked on his shoulders for the time being.
«You can touch me, pretty girl.» he offered with a smug smile, snaking his arms around your waist and pushing your chest closer to his; you scoffed a laugh, recognizing his words as the ones you used to pronounce.
Eventually, your lips met Mikey’s for the first time that night, and the familiar sensation of euphoria pooled in your lower abdomen. It was kind of paradoxical, your hips were moving against each other in an incredible slow pace, and still, you could feelMikey tremble below you.
«I missed you,» you heard him say anytime your lips parted for few seconds, just to angle your kiss a different way, «I missed you so much.» he confessed, as the atmosphere in the room gradually grew so intimate that it almost prevented you from breathing properly. Mikey kept you close to his body, sinking his short nails in your thighs, refusing to stop kissing you despite his ragged and uneven breath; you did just the same, threading your fingers in his hair and shyly confessing that you missed him too.
Mikey bit your lips as he came, riding his high as he hid his head in the crook of your neck, and you came right after him, loving the way he kept kissing your skin and brush his fingertips over your clit to help you ride your orgasm.
Mikey’s arms seemed to tighten around your waist, preventing your from standing up from the couch; he still had his forehead against your collarbones, and you knew that he could feel the wild rhythm of your heart, not anymore caused from your post orgasm state. Instinctively, you hugged his neck, the reality of the fact that you were probably still sharing the same feelings slowly crashing onto you.
«I really missed you.» you heard Mikey state, even though he wasn’t looking at you.
«I know. I missed you, too.» you offered back, slightly moving your head just to kiss his hair.
«Don’t leave,» Mikey timidly added after few never-ending seconds of silence, his arms seemed to tighten around your waist to empathize his words, «let’s make things right, this time.»
«Mikey, just to be clear, you’re asking me to be your girlfriend, again?» you swallowed the lump in your throat, your heart now threatening to jump off your chest due to its wild rhythm.
«I am,» Mikey’s head leaned back, his gentle gaze finally meeting yours as his fingertips gently cradled your face, «I want to be yours, as long as you want to be mine.» In a silent answer, you leaned in and captured your lover’s in another kiss filled with adoration.

“Look at her, I’d kill for her. I’d die for her”
Gotta love when a man worships his woman, especially in the breathtaking dress he bought her🤭. I’ve been thinking so much about Misa and Taiju that I just had to draw them again, so what better way to help the brain rot than drawing Taiju holding and worshipping his beautiful wife, who he spoils rotten ofc (he looks a lil wonky in the hair I was trying something new ok😭). And yes this is my crack at this dress trend.

As you were about to speak, you were interrupted with another "Oiiiiii," but this time it was a more familiar (and friendly-sounding) voice.

"Y/n-chin did you get any ice cream today?" Mikey said it as if he was expecting you to.

Flustered and a little intimidated by another dude in front of you, you simply shook your head. It took a little bit of time for Mikey to catch on, but once he did, he turned to the other boy and said:

Baji, this is y/n. I just met her last night. She buys me snacks!" Mikey said with a giddy grin on his face. Baji, however, was left dumbfounded. He should have expected something like this to happen. It just didn’t process properly (him and schoolwork be like:)

"HUHHHHH" Baji replied. "Mikey, are you crazy??" Just as Mikey was about to reply, another two boys stepped in behind him, eavesdropping on the whole conversation.

"Mikey, what in the hell did you just do?! You can’t go around harassing girls like that," the tall blond said. You examined him while he spoke. His undercut was shaved off, revealing a dragon tattoo. He definitely looked like someone who was hard to talk to. Your eyes then shifted to the lavender-haired boy who was approaching you. He seemed way more chill and gave off a softer vibe compared to the other boy.

Pouting, Mikey fought back, "I wasn’t harassing her Ken-chin!! She’s a very nice girl, too. Right Mitsuya?" He said, turning to the lavender-haired boy. You assumed that ‘Mitsuya’ was his name.

"Mikey, Draken’s right, though," Mitsuya replied. He turned to you and said, "I tell you this kid. I’m so sorry, Y/n-Chan for his behavior. He’s a bit of a pain sometimes," Mitsuya said apologetically.

"AHHHHH sometimes?? More like every day," Baji yelled. "You new to Shibuya?" He said, approaching you.

"Yeaa I just moved back here not too long ago, I was born here," you said. You definitely did not expect to bump into Mikey and his friends today, especially after the previous events. You were honestly kind of relieved, as this took your mind off your worries.

"Y/n-chin you should hang out with us tonight! We’re going to an arcade," Mikey gleefully said. You were shocked by his words, not expecting him to be so blunt.

Shocked, you quickly replied, "UH it’s okay, I don’t want to intrude, you should hang with your friends." In all honesty, you wanted to go check out more places with people for more fun and safety.

"Aren’t we friends, though?" Mikey questioned? You looked up at his friends, and they all had the same expression pasted on their faces—they seemed happy to accept Mikey’s decision.

Mitsuya spoke up, saying, "ahhh Y/n, don’t be shy, we’d love to have you."

"Mikey’s always been like this, impulsive ass, but you should still come," Draken said, side-eyeing Mikey annoyingly.

"Are you sure?" You questioned. "It’s okay if you don’t want me to," you said shyly.

"Oi oi cmon I wanna play the game where you slam down the hammer," Baji said impatiently. "Just come on, if Mikey likes you, then we all do." You felt a sense of relief wash over you.

"Okayyyy I’ll go," you said excitedly. They all shot you grins, especially Mikey, who had a goofy smile plastered on his face.
**********

"Pah’s waiting up by the roadside," Draken said as you guys started walking. You were going to hitch a ride with Mitsuya because he was the safest driver. (Mikey definitely fought them for that.)

"OI PAH" Baji yelled, waving at them.

"Shut up, Baji, you're so annoying, you interrupted my thoughts," Pah said sourly.

"EHHH WHACHA SAY" Baji said, triggered. "Wanna fight?" He snarled, about to tie up his long hair. (I wish I could play with his hair, I swear.)

‘Agh boys I tell you. You mentally said, observing the situation. Mitsuya grinned at you. (BBY’S LOOKING AT ME!!)

"OI you two shut up," Draken boomed. "We've got someone new hanging with us tonight, Pah."

"HUH who?" he replied. Pah quickly straightened up as soon as he saw you and introduced himself. "I’m Pah. And your name is?"

"Y/n" you said, greeting him with a smile, which he returned.

"Oi who found this pretty girl?" Pah said. (Words would literally touch my heart.) That made you feel better about yourself; you were definitely looking rough after your train ride home. (School air be like)

"I found her!!" Mikey said. "She actually—"

"AHHH Mikey, don’t harass women!" Pah said, and everyone else laughed while Mikey protested. Sighing, Mikey signaled that it was time to leave.
*******
You climbed onto Mitsuya’s bike and held onto him as you guys followed the rest to the arcade.

Mitsuya is definitely husband material. He gives off this soft demeanor, unlike the other guys. He also smells really good (such a great plus FRFR), like marshmallows and a light woody scent.

"So how do you like Tokyo so far, Y/n? Mitsuya asked, snapping you out of your thoughts.

"I’m actually starting to like it more, I didn’t at first," you replied.

"Ahhh I understand. Probably didn’t want to leave your life behind," he replied sweetly, and you have a simple hum.

"Do you have any siblings?" You asked. You definitely thought he had at least one sister.

Mitsuya replied brightly, "Yeaa, I have two younger sisters, Luna and Manna."

"I definitely figured. You're good with girls," you replied. Mitsuya chucked.

"I try my best," he replied. "Everyone seems to really like you, Y/n" the lavender-haired boy beamed. "So don’t worry too much," he said, reassuring you. (Overthinking ass) He honestly read your mind. You felt better now.

Mitsuya told you more about the rest of the guys who were going to be at the arcade and more about the guys you had met. You could feel the immense amount of care and friendship they had. He even pointed out a couple of spots on the way to the arcade where they had different memories.

"Baji had set a car on fire there when we were younger."

"The street down there is where we had our first bike race!"

"That alleyway in the corner is where me and Draken became friends."

You laughed at all the stories he told you. You definitely see yourself getting closer to him in the future. He definitely gave off caring older brother vibes. Mitsuya felt the same way, seeing you as a little sister. He definitely liked you a lot.

You couldn’t wait to meet the others. They all seemed like a close-knit friend group. You could definitely feel good vibes for the most part. You continued to sightsee while Mitsuya drove you guys to the arcade.
**********
You guys had finally arrived at the arcade. The bell chimes in the door signaled you guys arrival, and you made it towards the back of the arcade.

There stood three other guys— a tall, skinnier man with dirty blond hair, a shorter blond with an undercut and blue eyes, and a dorky kid with a bandaid on his nose.

"Baji-san!" The boy with the undercut said. He then looked at you inquisitively.

"Chifuyu, this is Y/n, Mikey harassed her for food," Baji said, snarling at Mikey.

Chifuyu shot you a smile and said, "Hii Y/n-chan, I’m Chifuyu! This is Peh Yan and Takemitchi," he said, pointing at them.

Peh Yan said hello, and Takemitchi just smiled, as he couldn’t cohere words at the moment.

"ITS TIME TO PLAYYYY" Pah and Baji said childishly, and they started to run towards their favorite games. Everyone wanted you to play with them, so you agreed.

"You definitely have had experience at beer pong." (Draken)

"OI WACK THE DAMN THING HARDER Y/N YOU DEFINITELY GOT SOME STRENGTH!" (Baji)

"You're not gonna win this round of hockey!" (Mikey Peh vs You and Chifuyu)

"I hold the record for piano tiles, Y/n!" (Mitsuya)

"Oi, I can’t believe Takemitchi got taken out by the basketball." (Pah chin to you after Takemitchi missed the basket and got hit in the head with the ball.)

You were having a blast with everyone. You played games, won prizes, and made so many new friends today. You even got to vlog some of your time out. Maybe Tokyo wasn’t so bad after all.

Then the same bells from earlier chimed again, and the plot began to thicken.

❝i don’t know what i’m supposed to do haunted by the ghost of you, oh take me back to the night we met.❞
♡ manjiro sano ♡
chapt. 3
description: a short story in which a young girl who's having a hard time coping with the death of her family stumbles upon the presence of a young restless spirit one night.
content warnings: mikey x oc, very heavy angst, comfort (?), soft mikey, heavy fluffy romance, suicide, mentions of suicidal thoughts, swearing, death, not checked for grammatical errors.
ˏˋ°•*⁀➷    ˏˋ°•*⁀➷    ˏˋ°•*⁀➷
a month has passed by, a month of meeting each other every night exactly at three in the morning. an hour which nori watanabe has despised the most, turned into the hour that she looked forwarded to the most.
the moments with manjiro felt like she was transported into another world, a world where only the two of them existed. it was quiet and peaceful, her mind being silent as the only voice that she heard was his.
his laughter, his corny jokes and of course, the flirtatious comments that he would make here and there.
so, here she was, walking back to their usual meeting spot, which was the park. of course, nori wasn't stupid, she had questions that she would like to have answers to. it's been about more than a month since she's been seeing manjiro and yet it was only them talking to each other face to face.
she was surprised that he hasn't offered her to exchange numbers or even meet throughout the day. it was as if she knew everything about him but at the same time she didn't.
nori didn't want to make him uncomfortable with these questions, but she couldn't help but wonder as it felt like she was drowning in a river of oblivion. although she was eager to know why, she decided to let time do its thing and when it's right, then she'll know.
the girl walked on the same sidewalk that she strolled by every night, almost like it was muscle memory at this point from how used to she was from frequently coming here. she was sure that she could safely make it here with her eyes closed.
as nori was about set foot into the park's gates, she heard a small mewl coming from below. she looked down, only to be met by the tiny kitten that she encountered a month ago. almost immediately, a smile catered on her face as she bent down to look at the tiny ball of fur closer.
"hey there! i didn't even notice you following me." she gasped, using a finger to lightly caress it's head as the cat rubbed it's body on her leg for comfort.
"aww, i missed you too. i'm glad you didn't give up, i knew you'd make it." nori grinned, taking the kitten in her arms before giggling as she saw it lick her index finger in gratitude.
"oh! would you like to meet a friend of mine? i think you'll like him." and as if the kitten could understand, it kept on rubbing it's head on nori to which the girl took as an afirmation.
so, as the cold winter blew past her hair, she walked inside the ghostly park while her eyes looked around to spot her best friend.
"boo!" a voice whispered in her ear as nori felt two cold hands covering her eyes, making her almost drop the poor kitten from how startled she was.
already being able to recognize the voice, she turned around to glare at manjiro who couldn't help but laugh at how adorable she looked with her eyebrow furrowed and an obvious pissed expression.
"nevermind, i lied to you. you probably won't like this guy, he's a idiot." nori peered down as she casually talked to the creature once again, before attempting to walk away.
"hey! wait for me." manjiro chased after the figure in front of him, who was walking towards their usual spot, the swings.
nori sat down, placing the kitten on her lap as she began to stroke it's soft black fur, waiting for the boy to come and plop himself in front of her. eventually, he came, eyes filled with curiosity as his attention fell on the small ball of fur curled up on his friend's lap.
"who do we have here?" manjiro pointed, making nori hum with a smile as she held out the small kitten in front of her to give him a better look.
"i met this little guy like a month ago, the same night i met you actually. damn, what a big coincidence this is, huh?" she chuckled, making manjiro give her a warm smile.
"can i hold him?" he asked, and nori nodded her head before handing the kitten to him. the feline seemed to be very fond of manjiro, settling into his embrace with no issue. this made the boy chuckle as he gently pet the kitten while it purred from the warmth of manjiro's hold.
"i think he likes you." nori commented, watching how delicately manjiro handled the creature. he was so kind and gentle, charismatic at that too. it was no surprise to her that the kitten felt comfortable around him so quick.
"hmm, i think so too. one of my friends actually had this cat obsession. his mom wouldn't allow him to have one because he wasn't home very often. so, instead he would feed stray cats on the streets and even allow them to come into his room through his window." manjiro recalled, his eyes once again glimmering as he was remembering the stories of his friends.
"aww, that's so cute. i bet he was a gentle person." nori replied, making the boy burst into laughter which took her by surprise.
"him? oh hell no, he's far from being gentle. but, he held a very soft spot for those cats. ah, that bastard. deep ass voice for his age and tall as shit, yet he turned into mush for these little furballs. he wants to open a petshop in the future." he added, glancing at nori who was staring at him with nothing but pure adoration. noticing his eyes catching her staring at him, she quickly averted her gaze while embarrassment crept up her body.
"hey, why'd you stop looking? i like it when you look at me, it make's me feel real, you know?" manjiro unknowingly said, making his heart stop beating for a moment as he realized how he screwed up. his throat went dry, hoping that nori wouldn't question his words and think of it as a very subtle flirt.
"god, you're so cheezy!" she scowled, hiding her beet-red face in the palm of her hands, making the worried boy let out a relaxed sigh.
"do you like astronomy, jiro?" nori asked, the nickname that she would call him from time to time slipping out of her mouth once again, flustering the boy in front of her.
"i think it's pretty cool, but i never quite understood it." he answered with a sheepish smile.
"oh, well that's okay. i could help you." she offered and without hesitation manjiro nodded his head. he loved it when she spoke, her voice was like a lullaby to his ears. so soft and gentle, he could listen to it forever.
"i really want to see the orion constellation one day. i heard that it has the brightest stars." manjiro saw how her eyes lightened up with the thought of one day being able to visit the place to see the stars.
"what's an orion?" he genuinely questioned, tilting his head to the side as he anticipated for her response.
"the constellation is after this hunter in greek mythology. he was this very handsome hunter who fell in love with artemis, a women that men found very hard to catch her heart. both him and her shared the same interest in hunting and eventually they madly fell in love." nori started, making manjiro give her his full span of intention, becoming intrigued into the story.
"and then?" he egged further for her to continue.
"well, one day he was being too boastful by saying that he could slaughter anything. this angered gaia, who saw all creatures of life as her children. she sent out a beast-like scorpion for both orion and artemis to fight. sadly, orion was defeated as he stepped on it." she explained, making the boy frown in disappointment.
"what the hell? why would she do that over some dumbass comment?!" manjiro ranted, not understanding how gaia could ruin orion and artemis's happiness over something so small.
"mhm, so the gods felt sorry for him and put him in the contellations. of course, that's the story i heard but there's different modified versions too." nori ended the story of orion, making manjiro look at her with a small smile.
"woah, you're so cool. how can you be so beautiful and smart at the same time? ah, i'm jealous." he dramatically said, making her let out a chuckle.
"i'm flattered. i'm glad you find my interest intriguing. oh! give me your hand." she held out her palm, making manjiro pinch his eyebrows in confusion, but he still gave her his hand.
nori flinched, feeling the temperature of his hand's almost like blocks of ice. she looked at him with wide eyes, making him look at her with a questioning look.
"what's wrong?" he asked, not knowing why she suddenly paused and grew quiet.
"you're hands are freezing! oh my god, can you even feel my touch?!" nori said in a panicked and shocked tone, squeezing his hands and manjiro couldn't help but close his eyes. her warmth, her soft skin, everything was too much for him.
"i can feel you, nori. you feel so warm." he said with a smile, feeling tears prick his eyes from how much he yearned the comforting touch of another human.
"i usually play with the water before you come, and you know, it's winter too." manjiro explained, not sure to which extent she believed him.
"then i'll always hold your hand, you know, to keep you warm and stuff." nori said, getting a little shy and awkward towards the end from how she worded her sentence.
"i'd like that a lot. thank you, nori." he said with a smile that made his eyes disappear. the girl looked at him with tinted cheeks, not sure whether it was from his words or the freezing weather, but she hummed with a smile herself.
"now, picture your hand to be the sky." nori got back into the focus as she opened his hand flat on top of her thigh, index finger pointing right towards the middle.
"mhm, got it." manjiro concentrated, trying to pay attention to her words.
"this is orions head, you move down and this is his belt, go towards the right and there's his shield or some people say that it's a lion." she dragged her finger over his balm, making him shiver from her touch as it felt like a fire was being sparked within him. it tickled, her gentle warm touch running over the coldness of his flesh.
his mind went blank and only nori was being engulfed into his thinking space.
"oh." was the only thing that could leave his mouth as he looked up to her, the girl noticing that she was being watched as her eyes met his.
"it's easier to picture it out in you're head, isn't it?" she said as a small laugh escaped from her throat, making him hum in agreement.
"mhm, i can't wait to finally see the constellation with you." he promised, biting his inner cheek as he couldn't help but feel ashamed and angry at himself for making empty promises to her.
"yup!" she beamed, excited at the though of seeing the beautiful constellation with manjiro.
"oh, by the way, does he have a name?" manjiro suddenly changed the topic as he pointed to the feline that was peacefully sleeping besides nori.
"no, i only saw him once and thought i wouldn't see him again. the little guy was out in the cold and i didn't know what to do. the place where i live in doesn't allow pets, so i couldn't take him home with me." guilt washed over her face as she spoke, but manjiro nodded his head as he understood her situation.
"i see, well then, why don't we give him one? we'll both be his parents." he grinned, making nori chortle at his random yet cute idea.
"parent a cat together? now how would that work out, mr. sano?" she cocked an eyebrow, making him cockily clear his throat.
"i'll take care of his stay for you, you'll be seeing our child every night either way. so it'll work out. and for the name, how about kei?" manjiro glanced at the cat before stroking its black fur. a smile crept up to his face as he was reminded of one of his friends, naming the small furball after him actually.
"kei? hm, i really like that name. it has a cute ring to it. okay! it's settled then, mr. sano." nori playfully said.
"sure thing, mrs. sano." he played along with a smirk.
...
"norii!" a higher pitched voice echoed from behind the girl, as she turned around only to be met with the familiar shade of pink hair.
hinata tachibana.
"hii hina!" nori dragged out her words, leaning forwards to accept the open arms hina offered, hugging the girl tight as they both softly giggled.
"ugh, it feels like ages since i've seen you. i missed you!" hina pouted, the small beauty mark below her lips becoming visible as nori noticed.
"we literally saw each other yesterday though, hina." nori laughed before linking her arms with the pink haired girl as they began to walk through the hallways to get to the cafeteria.
"well, yeah, but we couldn't talk much since takemichi and i went to that cafe down the block." she explained, a smile etched onto her lips while a blush crept up to her cheeks.
"oOoOo~ how was the date?" nori asked in a teasing manner, making her receive a small slap on her upper arm as she winced in pain.
though the slap was intended to be light, hina was pretty strong, but it was understandable. the girl did do martial arts as a child after all.
"shut up! we were just hanging out casually, you know. going to stores and stuff down by shibuya and he gave me this." hina pointed at the necklace that was shining as the sunlight directly hit the beautiful crystals, making nori gasp at its beauty.
the pendent was in the shape of a four leaf clover.
"woah, that's so cute! damn, you both are so cute. i just wanna show you both in my pocket and keep you there forever." nori dramatically sighed out, but soon chortled as she saw hina laugh first due to her joke.
"you're the one who's cuter!" hina argued before she made her way towards the front of nori, pinching the soft mounds of flesh on her face and squishing it to make a fish like face.
"hey! hey! it's awfully rude to have all the fun without me!" a voice interrupted as both girls turned around, recognizing the familiar blue-eyed human with black hair.
"you finally came! what took you so long?" hina questioned her boyfriend before walking over to him, clinging onto his left arm as he brought his head down to plant a kiss on her forehead.
i wish i had someone, just for myself. is that too selfish of me to ask for?
"sorry, hina. i was just helping draken with something." he quickly answered.
"oh, i see. don't worry, i was catching up with nori either way." she gave him a beaming smile, making takemichi's heart do somersaults as he couldn't handle the overwhelming cuteness of his girlfriend.
"oh right! do you have any plans for new years, nori? hina and i were planning to go by the skating rink with the others." takemichi suggested, hopeful eyes looking into hers for her to agree.
skating rink?
"ever went ice skating before?"
manjiro's voice haunted her mind, making a sudden shiver run down her spine. she promised him that her first time skating would be with him. she can't possibly go back on her words now. the couple noticed the girl zoning out, looking at each other with the same confusing expression copied and pasted on each other's face.
"nori?" hina called out, waking up nori from her thoughts as she looked up to them looking at her with a little concerning look.
"you good, nori?" takemichi asked and nori quickly nodded.
"yeah, i'm fine. sorry about that, didn't get enough sleep last night." she nervously laughed while rubbing the back of her nape.
"oh, no worries. so, you wanna come with us? if you're free, of course." hina offered and nori thought long and hard but just couldn't make up her mind.
new years was never a good time of the year. another painful year that nori has lived through, and it marks the end for that year before another one starts once again. it's a repetitive cycle that she has grown tired of.
she hates the fireworks with all her life. they're so loud, piercing her silent world like a bunch of knives. which is why she goes to the countryside each and every year instead for a few days before coming back.
"sorry, i'm gonna spent new years with someone this year." nori blurted out without thinking too much, but this made both takemichi and hina gasp and squeal like a bunch of teenage girls. they both clung on either side of the poor girl, eyes begging for more details.
"oh my god, nori is in love?!"
"my baby is finally growing up!"
"is he handsome? strong? tall"
"is he a crybaby like my michi?"
"hina!"
"sorry, i still love you a lot though, michi!"
nori watched the couple laugh within each other's presence, reminding her of manjiro and her every night. how she would laugh like never before due to his stupid little jokes here and there. or how she would hear his obnoxiously loud laughter echo through her eardrums after he successfully flustered her through his continuous teasing.
a warm smile radiated on her face, making the couple fawn over her as they couldn't stop goggling over their friend.
"she's so in love." takemichi noted, making his precious girlfriend nod her head along with him in agreement.
in love?
maybe nori was, but she wasn't sure. she didn't know what this feeling was, the feeling of her stomach becoming a tight knot whenever she saw him smile or heard his laugh. she didn't know why her throat went dry whenever he made a flirty remark or why her heart skipped multiple beats whenever he touched her.
somehow his cold hands always felt warm to her, if that made any sense.
in love or not, all that nori knew was that she wanted to keep seeing manjiro.
"mhm, i wonder who it is." hina pondered, closing her eyes as all the guys that she has seen around campus stood in a line in her brain while she cancelled out the one's that couldn't have possibly been a match for her friend.
"any ideas?"
"nope."
their little guessing game came to an end as the clock was inching towards the next class, nori parting ways from the couple as takemichi usually walks hina to her next class. as nori walked away, she couldn't help but glance at her empty palms, wondering how they would feel with her fingers intertwined with manjiro's.
she couldn't help but smile at the thought.
---
it was december thirty-first, a girl was seen laying on her bed while holding the same picture frame that always made sure to kiss before going to bed. she held it up in front of her, taking a good look at it and even though the dim lighting emitting from her dying lamp wasn't enough for her to make out the faces in the picture, she knew who they were.
another year has passed without them.
however, this time there was no more shedding tears as her eyes were completely dry. instead, she felt the familiar feeling of the pit of numbness and emptiness within her continue to progress. nori couldn't even find the strength to get off her bed to walk to the park.
it felt too difficult.
so, she decided to spend the coming of the new year in bed. she planned to sleep it out, hina telling her earlier that their city will not be participating in the firework show this year due to the increase of air pollution.
and she couldn't have been more grateful for that decision.
the last thing that she remembered seeing before closing her eyes to attempt to sleep was the clock hands inching towards nine.
and while the girl was tucked away warm in her bed, forgetting about all her problems that consumed her daily, another soul was patiently waiting for her.
the spirit crouched down, humming a little tune as he dipped his hand into the freezing cold water of the river. he swirled his hand around, creating small splashing noises before some water got on him, making him childishly laugh at himself.
"it's new years today, another years has passed since i.." manjiro talked to himself, his words pausing midway as he couldn't find the strength to say the words. he closed his mouth, swallowing harshly before forcing a smile on his lips.
"it's okay. nori will come soon, i can't wait to spend new years with her." he laughed, continuing to see the water slip out of his fingers as he pulled them apart.
and that was the only thing he always looked forward to, which was seeing her every night. each and every night was a special little window that allowed him to see through her even more. and he loved every view, he loved it when she talked about something that she was passionate about or even when she ranted about the small things that frustrated her in college that day.
he loved everything about her.

Sky Full of Stars
Tumblr media
After a long work day, he liked to bring me to the beach. We never did anything special We would always just talk or share a meal. However, I always cherished these moments with him. He seemed the most himself when we were just chatting underneath the stars in the dark of night. His eyes getting caught in mine while we talked about our day. I swear the star shined brighter with him underneath them his hair glistening beneath the moonlight. I never noticed how beautiful the night sky was before I met him. How beautiful he was.
