Twst Pokemon AU: What Pokemon would the Great Seven have?

This has been on my mind for a while now. If Twisted Wonderland were a place in the Pokemon world and everyone at NRC had Pokemon as well as magic, that would mean that the Great Seven would have had Pokemon too.

So what Pokemon would they have?

(Disclaimer: This is just MY personal opinion. You're totally free to disagree and I would love to hear what your take on the Great Seven's Pokemon would be~)

The Queen of Hearts - Vespiquen

Yes, yes, I know. "You should have given her Roserade because they have to paint the roses!" And while that is a valid reason, I went with Vespiquen for two reasons.

Number one, it matches the queen vibe and is a very regal Pokemon that commands its own legion of Combee, much like the Queen of Hearts with her card soldiers.

And number two, somebody has to keep that rose garden pollinated, right?

King of Beasts - Mandibuzz

Alright, I get that this one might be a bit meta. "He's an animal! How can he have a Pokemon?!" Well, as it turns out, animals and Pokemon did technically coexist at one point in time. They're also two completely different species, and given that the King of Beasts canonically can speak and we don't have clear confirmation as to when his story takes place in history, I don't see why he couldn't have a Pokemon~

Besides, I feel like the King of Beasts would see these strange super-powered creatures and would figure out a way to use them to help further his goal.

So, why Mandibuzz? Simple. It's a Dark type and its based on a buzzard, which is a scavenger much like Scar was. And it's a Pokemon you'd definitely find in the Sunset Savannah.

The Benevolent Sea Witch - Wishiwashi

Okay, this one was a little difficult. I wanted to give the Sea Witch a sea monster type Pokemon....but they're aren't a lot of sea monsterish Pokemon in the Water Pokemon lineup. (Well, besides Gyrados, but I didn't think that would fit with her.) And then I remembered Wishiwashi. And I'd say the Schooling Form is definitely monstrous.

I just felt like giving her a scary sea monster-esque Pokemon would fit with the whole intimidating, sea witch vibe. Plus, its a Pokemon that can make itself appear bigger just like she did during her final fight.

And, on the other hand, her small Wishiwashi would be an excellent spy in the Merkingdom because no one would suspect it to belong to the Sea Witch of all people.

The Sorcerer of Sands - Malamar

Not much to say on this one. Malamar just fits Jafar's vibe, I feel. Its probably the most sinister Pokemon there is and its use of hypnosis to control people just fits for some reason....

I was tempted to give him Hypno instead, but I feel like Malamar just fits better.

Maybe its the eyes....

The Fairest Queen - Vileplume

Aside from it being a Poison type, I had another reason for choosing Vileplume for the Fairest Queen.

"Snow White and the Seven Dwarves" takes place within a very forest-like area, which is somewhere you'd be most likely to find an Oddish, which makes it all the more likely for the Fairest Queen to have one.

Plus, its got the whole deadly poisonous flower vibe, which I feel just fits with the Fairest Queen in general.

The Lord of the Underworld - Spiritomb

Another one that I had trouble with. Probably the one I had the most trouble with. There was just so may options I could have gone with, but in the end, I went with Spiritomb.

It was bound to the Odd Keystone to keep from causing mischief, much like Hades was bound to the Underworld. Plus, its an ancient and very powerful Ghost Pokemon, which seems to fit with the Lord of the Underworld's vibe.

I'm still a bit iffy on this one. My other choices would have either been Dusknoir or Gengar.

The Witch of Thorns - Darkrai

[[INSERT COOL DARKRAI GIF HERE BECAUSE I HIT THE TEN IMAGE LIMIT]]

Listen. If anyone on this list was going to get a legendary Pokemon, it was going to be Maleficent. We all know she's the most powerful among the Great Seven.

And what better Pokemon for her than the one that traps its victims in endless nightmares?

You guys get the picture. She's feared because of her immense, terrifying powers. So is Darkrai. She can curse people with sleep. So can Darkrai.

I feel like her having one would simultaneously make them both even more feared than they already are and that just feels right for Maleficent.

Now, this list IS about the Great Seven, but I did choose these Pokemon while considering the dorm leaders (and vice dorm leader in Jamil's case). I wanted each Pokemon that I gave to the Great Seven to also be a Pokemon each dorm leader could also have respectively:

What sort of pokemon would Knives have in the AU? I was thinking Mimikyu but someone got upset over that idea ajdksksllala

Okay imagine!

Vash is trying to resocialise his brother into the world and Knives is just dragging his feet about it. Knives one day meets a mimikyu. He tries to walk around it but he’s the first human that didn’t react horribly and mimikyu just kinda clings to him.

Knives seed how people perceive mimikyu and relates that not only to how people react to his brother but eventually how people react to him too. They treat them like monsters, who hide under human costumes.

And he starts projecting onto mimikyu, and then seeing himself in mimikyu he lashes out in a “why won’t they just leave me a monster alone!” Kinda way, and mimikyu emotionally convey that being lonely kinda sucks. And it’s not so bad having someone who cares about waiting at home wondering where you are

But also I could almost imagine like 4 Pokémon off the top of my tounge that I think would suit knives, any point of the solosis line, Malamar, roserade, lilligant, like there’s so many different ways and options to work with story and Pokémon wise!

Hiya, I'm Bug!

A trainer originally from Hoenn currently studying to one day be a pokemon professor! As I'm a studying trainer, I travel to all sorts of regions to learn all I can about Pokemon! My main focus is Pokemon considered to be rowdy or scary - I like to figure out how to tame them and break the stigma that Pokemon can be evil or bad! I enjoy the quote "There are no bad Pokemon, only bad trainers."

I go by bug! I'm trans and genderqueer and use they/em pronouns. My partner pokemon is a Loudred (Screm) I've had since I was a little little kid! My secondary partner Pokemon is a Malamar (Shimmer) I've had since I was very young - when I was still in Pokemon school. Since I'm learning to be a Professor, I learn all I can about Pokemon, from studying different regions Pokedexs to going to the Regions myself - That'll mostly be what I post about, and whatever trouble me and my Pokemon get into!

THAT’S GOOD ENOUGH FOR ME!

Ok so this is gonna be a long list, since my head is only empty when it’s of greatest inconvenience.

Also please read the tags for potential triggers! Lmk if I missed any and I’ll add them right away.

Without further ado, here’s my interpretation of a Sanders Sides Pokemon AU!

* Ok so first of all, the sides are all gym leaders.

* I picture this in the Galar region, but probably with different towns and the like because I don’t remember any of them.

* Basically, just assume that all of the towns are made up, but that Dynamax still is a thing.

* Let’s start with Patton because his story is the least sad.

* His family runs a Fairy Type gym/pokemon nursery.

* Patton is the eldest in a large family, so he eventually became the new gym leader following in his father’s footsteps.

* He has two dads, one who was the gym leader and the other who is a pokemon breeder. They’re both pokemon breeders now and work in a Pokemon Center.

* They are definitely responsible for Patton’s sense of humor.

* Patton and all of his siblings are adopted, but they’re so close that they might as well be related by blood.

* Patton loves taking care of pokemon and would be a pokemon breeder full-time if he could

* But he also loves his family so he continues to run the gym to raise enough money to keep them comfortable and happy

* The Pokemon team I have come up for him is:

* - Togekiss

* - Boltund

* - Greninja (cuz frog)

* - Altaria

* - Frosmoth

* - Hatterine

* (If anyone has any better ideas for pokemon for any of the sides, feel free to throw your suggestions in the notes!)

* Moving on to Logan...

* Like Patton, he also inherited his gym, a Psychic Type gym, from his parents

* However, his family life isn’t nearly as happy...

* Ever since he was old enough to throw a pokeball, his parents have trained him rigorously to become the next gym leader

* They handpicked all of the pokemon in his team

* Except for a Lucario, which Logan caught as a Riolu when he was very young. His parents only let him keep it because of its battle prowess

* So Logan’s team is:

* - Lucario

* - Gardevoir

* - Alakazam

* - Raichu (alolan)

* - Malamar

* - Onix

* (Also this should be obvious by now but not all the pokes will match the gym’s type cuz that’s boring)

* Logan took over the gym when he was 15 and has been running it basically on his own ever since

* His parents still get the final say in all major decisions, even though they don’t really do anything

* Logan resents them, but doesn’t have the courage to stand up for himself

* ENTER PATTON

* Logan is at first pretty skeptical regarding Patton, since he doesn’t seem to take his job seriously

* After challenging Patton to a battle, however, that stance changes remarkably fast after facing a narrow defeat at the hands of Patton’s pokemon

* Even so, he tells himself that he doesn’t have time to become more than colleagues. He must be cordial with Patton so they can coordinate as gym leaders, but that’s it

* Meanwhile, Patton takes one look at this emotionally-repressed man and thinks to himself

* “Oh, this is the guy I’m gonna marry.”

* He then takes literally every opportunity to flirt with Logan

* And he is not subtle AT ALL

* Like he literally goes up to Logan one day and is like

* “I know you’re not ready for it right now, but one day I’m gonna marry you and there’s nothing you can do about it.”

* And Logan is VERY confused and VERY flustered because feelings? What is happening to my heart!? Am I getting sick!?

* (And his parents would absolutely disapprove because they are huge homophobes and want Logan to have an heir to pass on the gym to)

* But eventually Patton manages to break Logan’s walls down and they become close friends

* (And eventually more)

* Now, the twins!

* Their situation is pretty similar to Logan’s, at least to a certain point

* Their parents own a Fire Type gym, and were so excited to have a child who would eventually take over the gym

* Two things happened that they did not anticipate

1) They ended up having twins

2) The mother died during childbirth

* Driven by grief, stubbornness, and resentment, the father had the idea that, in order to make the twins as strong as possible, he would put them against each other at every opportunity

* They would constantly be competing to become better than the other, creating an extremely toxic rivalry

* It didn’t work... at least, not at first.

* When they were very young, Roman and Remus were inseparable.

* Even when their father tried to put them against each other, they would rebel against him and not listen

* (Remus had no issue with this, but Roman quietly longed for his father’s approval, even though he knew it was wrong)

* They had a dream that they would run the gym together, and they would talk long into the night about the gym they would create and the pokemon they would train

* That was, until their father started to take a different approach

* He noticed that, despite the two boys receiving the same education and training, Roman had a better affinity for battle (at least when it came to fire types)

* So he started giving Roman more praise and attention

* Roman was thrilled to finally make his father proud

* Remus, on the other hand, was tossed to the side

* Roman was reluctant to give up his father’s attention now that he had received it

* (Looking back, Roman wishes more than anything that he had given it up)

* The twins were driven apart, Roman being trained to take over the gym, and Remus being completely ignored

* One day, Remus ran away, disappearing in the middle of the night.

* Roman was devastated

* He wanted nothing more than to search for Remus, but he knew that if his brother didn’t want to be found, he could vanish off the face of the earth

* Years pass, and Roman takes over the gym

* His father passes away from illness when he was 16

* He can’t find it in himself to grieve

* Roman continues running the gym, hating how quiet the halls are and missing his brother terribly

* One day, he receives news of a new Poison Type gym being established, one heavily criticized for its unorthodox (and, some complain, absolutely disgusting) gym structure and puzzles

* For the first time in years, Roman smiles

* Their relationship is not nearly as close as it was when they were children, and they still have a lot of that competitiveness that was hammered into them, but they’re trying

* And of course, their pokemon teams!

* Roman’s team is:

* - Charizard

* - Wigglytuff

* - Aegislash

* - Milotic

* - Gallade

* - Butterfree

(Maybe he should have more fire types but I like all of these Pokémon for him and they don’t really have a common type among them and ahhhhhhhh...)

* While Remus’s team is:

* - Garbodor

* - Muk

* - Tentacruel

* - Gengar

* - Mawile

* - Venomoth

* While catching up on everything that happened while they were separated, Roman asks Remus how he managed to establish his own gym so quickly

* Remus smirks, saying that he had a little help from a certain dragon...

* WHICH IS JANUS! HE HAS A DRAGON TYPE GYM!

* And this is where we get into that sweet sweet angst

* Janus was born in a small village surrounded by mountains

* A few months before his birth, a disease spread throughout the village

* This disease would coat the skin in angry red boils and drive the infected delirious with sickness

* One day, Janus’ parents found him shivering with a fever, the left side of his face covered in boils

* Fearing for their lives should they catch the disease, they brought the child into the mountains and abandoned him in an old, dark cave

* He wailed in pain and terror until his throat was so hoarse he couldn’t cry anymore

* Dialga, the legendary dragon-type pokemon with power over time, heard his cries and took pity on the child

* Dialga reversed the effects of the illness, curing the child but leaving shimmering scales where the boils used to be

* Dialga then tasked the dragon type pokemon in the cave to look after the child, not trusting humans to ensure Janus’ well being

* A family of Dreepies, Drakloaks, and Dragapults takes a particular liking to Janus, raising him as one of their own

* Eventually, when Janus is a bit older, he goes to visit the town he was born in (supervised by his dragon family, of course)

* Only to find that the village was gone, abandoned by the few survivors of the horrible plague that spread throughout

* Janus felt no remorse

* He knew that he could only rely on himself, and that if he wanted to survive in this world, he needed to be aggressive

* The following week, he said goodbye to his family, only taking with him his best friend, one of the Dreepies in his family that was now a powerful Dragapault

* It wasn’t easy, as he had to learn the language and social etiquette of the people around him (being raised by pokemon would do that to you)

* He even had to resort to stealing in order to survive, which kept him on the run

* Until one day, he met Remus, another kid on the run

* Together, they were an absolute menace. To this day, the two of them have never lost a double battle

* Eventually, they both opened their own gyms, Remus a poison type and Janus a dragon type

* When not busy with the typical duties required of gym leaders, they’re basically inseparable

* Remus is the one person Janus trusts whole-heartedly

* I headcanon them as either really close friends or queer-platonic partners, but I’ll leave it up to you to decide their relationship!

* By the way, Janus’ team consists of:

* - Dragapult

* - Mimikyu

* - Zoroark

* - Arbok

* - Salazzle

* - Kimmo-oh

* So that leaves one side left...

* Ima be honest, I based Virgil heavily on Piers, but bear with me ok?

* Virgil grew up in a very poor town with his mother, as his dad abandoned them when he was very young

* And when I say poor, I mean that there wasn’t even a Pokemon Center

* Even so, he didn’t wish for anything. He didn’t care about traveling or becoming a great pokemon trainer. He just wanted to be with his mom

* (His anxiety made it hard to leave the house, anyway, so he was in no rush to go on some grand adventure)

* His mom had a dream to open a pokemon gym that both 1) incorporated music and 2) was more down to earth than the grand stadiums that were now the norm for gyms

* When she was pregnant with Virgil, she was more than happy to give up that dream for her family

* However, when her husband, their main source of income, abandoned them, her dream became more of a necessity

* The entire town was on her side, knowing that a gym could bring money to their town

* Their “gym” was nothing more than a small, outdoor stadium, but his mother loved it

* The few curious pokemon trainers who decided to challenge the unofficial gym absolutely loved her, and slowly she started to gain a bit of notoriety

* Virgil was terrified. He was afraid that his mom would get hurt by the powerful pokemon that constantly challenged her

* (And he missed her terribly. She still made time for him, but it wasn’t as much as before she took on the role of unofficial gym leader)

* And so, his mom brought him his very first pokemon: an Eevee that always seemed to know exactly how to calm him down

* He loved his Eevee, and he felt a little bit less alone whenever his mom had to leave for work. He was ok.

* Unfortunately, fate had cruel plans for the young boy

* His town was cast into shadow as a maddened Dynamaxed pokemon appeared a few miles away

* His mom, the strongest trainer in town, left to take it down, despite how much Virgil begged her to not go, or to take him with her

* (She had to go. The second-closest city to the dynamaxed pokemon was still very far away. Help wouldn’t come for a while. She was all her small town had.)

* (...She didn’t return)

* The entire town was in mourning, holding a huge ceremony to honor her memory.

* Virgil was inconsolable, barely speaking and refusing to leave his room for almost an entire year

* If it wasn’t for the people in the town, who cared for him as deeply as they did his mother, he probably wouldn’t have eaten.

* The unofficial gym, without a gym leader, was abandoned, and its small glimpse of fame was lost, plunging the town back into a seemingly inescapable pit of poverty and obscurity

* Until one day, a group of thugs came and terrorized the town, letting loose their pokemon and stealing everything they could get their hands on

* Virgil was terrified, but he couldn’t just stand there while people got hurt. With only his Eevee and his only experience being watching his mom in her matches, he challenged the thugs

* He didn’t stand a chance. His poor Eevee was at its knees within moments

* Virgil was distraught, hating his weakness and how he couldn’t protect the town that had become his family. He tried to fight the thugs himself, only to be knocked back by one of their Pokémon’s attacks.

* He got back up and charged again, tears in his eyes and bile rising from how scared he was

* His Eevee, terrified for its master and inspired by his bravery, began to glow...

* ...and in its place stood an Umbreon, body pulsing with newfound power

* This scene rallied the other people in the town, who banded together to drive the thugs away, Virgil and his Umbreon leading the charge

* From then on, Virgil vowed that he would become a strong Dark Type gym leader and create the gym his mother never got the chance to

* He trained hard, swallowing his fear to capture and train more pokemon for his team

* Which consists of...

* - Umbreon

* - Houndoom

* - Galvantula

* - Gothitelle

* - Corviknight

* - Noivern

* The townspeople, much like Team Yell in Pokemon Sw/Sh, would often go to other cities singing Virgil’s praise and unwittingly causing all sorts of problems

* Virgil has no idea that any of this is happening

* Eventually, word gets out again regarding this unofficial Pokemon gym, attracting the attention of the other gym leaders

* Roman is sent to investigate

* He doesn’t expect much, given the general appearance of the town (it doesn’t even have a pokemon center, after all)

* He’s even more put off when he recognizes the outfits of the trainers in the “gym” as the strange people who have been causing trouble all over Galar

* Even so, he has a job to do, so he dons a disguise and plows through all of the trainers, eager to finish the gym so he can go back home

* His desire to leave vanishes faster than a Pikachu with Agility the moment he lays eyes on Virgil

* Just like his mother wanted, Virgil’s battles take place during a rock concert, so Virgil waiting on a makeshift stage with a guitar in hand

* (Virgil feels like he’s going to explode with nerves, just like he does every time a trainer challenges his gym, but the memory of his mother gives him courage)

* As his Umbreon leaps into battle, he begins to sing

* And holy shit Roman is in love

* The small area is filled with spectators cheering and singing along to the song, and despite it being a far cry from any grand stadium Roman has ever battled in, it has more spirit than anything Roman has ever experienced

* It’s the most fun he’s had battling in years

* Virgil is a tough opponent, a testament to his years of pushing himself, but in the end Roman has more experience

* Virgil is devastated at the loss, knowing it would be a blow against the gym’s reputation, but manages to put on a smile and offers Roman a pin: their unofficial gym badge

* Roman smiles, removing his disguise to pin the badge to his clothes and Virgil is like “holy shit that’s Roman the famous fire-type gym leader oh no he’s really hot oh no what have I done I GAVE HIM A HANDMADE PIECE OF SCRAP METAL OH NO”

* And Roman, ignorant to Virgil’s crisis, is like “cmon, we gotta get the paperwork done to establish this place as an official gym!”

* When later asked, Virgil would firmly deny it, but at that moment he had literally burst into tears

* Roman still wears the badge Virgil presented to him to this day, even though Virgil has repeatedly offered him one of the higher-quality badges they now give out as an official gym

* Virgil’s gym is the only one that doesn’t have Dynamax, since he still has some trauma from his mother’s death

* Prinxiety eventually happens because I say so

* And all of the gym leaders are friends also because I say so

So this is basically PMD x Kirby

(Here’s a key: pink is the name of the character, green is the Pokemon they chose, blue means male, pink means female, purple is the description of design changes)

So, before I explain who gets who, Adeleine sets up a few rules/guidelines for everyone.

1: The couch. Adeleine and Ribbon live in a cottage on the outskirts of town and therefore have a small house. When everyone’s there, she has a set seating system: tall people (DDD, herself, Daroach, etc) have to sit on the couch or in the general back. Short people (basically everyone else) sit in front of the couch and around the floor (she gives them pillows and floor seats of course)

2: No repeats! It’s to help her remember and also to not cause confusion or arguments. Nobody gets to have the same Pokemon as someone else (the only exception being if they plan to evolve them into a branching evolution, like Gardevoir and Gallade in the Ralts line)

3: Personalize! Everyone gets to add design changes to theirs (cut ear, different patterns, accessories, etc) to make them their own! They also assign genders to theirs and if they can’t decide, dice are rolled. Odds for male, evens for female (they can choose not to, but the vast majority were like “yeah whatever let’s just give them a gender”).

Ok onto the actual Pokemon

Adeleine: Chikorita, female, wears a scarf (part of the in-game story) and has a multicolored head leaf! Also had a small crystal hanging from her neck!

She saw the design and called them a “tiny dinosaur with a big leaf” and immediately decided on them. She loves them to death and thinks they’re the cutest Pokemon on the planet.

Ribbon: Fennekin, female, wears a scarf (part of the in-game story), has fur that is more pink than red, and wears a huge red bow! Also has a small crystal hanging from her neck!

Couldn’t choose the same Pokemon as Adeleine and thought Fennekin looked beautiful (she was even more excited when she saw the final evolution). She also has a type matchup with Adeleine and absolutely takes bullets for her to keep her from dying.

Kirby: Eevee, female, white fur is tinted pink, has blue eyes instead of brown, and wears bunch of colorful accessories like bows, bracelets/anklets, and collars!

Couldn’t decide on the gender and the dice rolled female! He doesn’t care and loves his Eevee!!! He likes how soft they look and how they have different evolution!! It’s like his copy abilities!!! He’s stuck trying to figure out what to evolve them into tho.

Dedede: Piplup, male, wears a big robe and hat, body is a slightly darker and more vibrant blue, and is a little chubbier!

He convinced Adeleine to take on a more difficult dungeon request for this (she got a big dinner at the royal table and got to stay the night in one of the royal rooms out of it though so it was worth it) and after a near 2 hour run and almost 3 game overs, she got it. Dedede only wanted it because it’s the only penguin Pokemon in the series and he wanted a big penguin like himself!!!

Meta Knight: Ralts (Gallade), male, wears a mask like his own, has more jagged blades, and wears a cape!

Only picked them because they saw Gallade and said “yeah that’s gonna be me” and didn’t wait for an answer. He likes their arm blades and the fact that they have a mega evolution (even BIGGER blades!!!!!!! A big tattered cape!!!!!! Badass looks!!!!! What’s not to like!!!!)

Bandee: Karrablast, male, wears a blue bandana, body is orange instead of blue, stomach is cream instead of orange, and has a tiny spear (this is later removed when they evolve)!!!

They saw Escavalier and got super excited!! Double spear arms!!! Armored and tough looking!!! They like how tough they look and 100% chose them for that reason only (although the Pokemon kinda grew on them over time). Not ultra tough right now but they’re getting there!

Marx: Sableye, male, gems are basically mirrors, wears a jester cap like his own, and has only 2 claws instead of 3!!

He likes how fucking creepy they look and how their mega evolution has teeth. It’s a very specific detail they will absolutely drill into why they like them so much. They also like how powerful they can be if used correctly!

Gooey: Goomy, female, body is shades of blue instead of purple, has a tongue that noticeably sticks out!!

He originally wanted Ditto but then they saw Goomy and felt a certain kind of love for them. He also couldn’t decide and the dice rolled female! He likes how the name is similar to his own and how they’re goopy like him!!! They’re also super squishy and he is too!!!!!!

Rick: Dedenne, male, tail is shorter, body is similar in color to him, has beans!!!!!!

He likes how they’re kinda hamster-esc!! They have electricity too which is hella cool. They look kinda soft to him and he was mildly upset over them not having paw beans and demanded that Dedenne be given justice by having them drawn in (Adeleine totally agrees to this). He likes to think they’re mega soft like himself!!!

Kine: Magikarp, male, slightly flatter, blue instead of orange, larger fins!!

He couldn’t choose a Pokemon and eventually just settled on Magikarp because he thought they’d be ok. Didn’t realize they evolve into such a big Pokemon until they saw what it looked like in one of the dungeons. The keep bragging about how powerful they’re gonna be when they finally evolve, but nobody is taking him seriously because he can only use 1 move as of now and hasn’t reached a point where he can evolve yet.

Coo: Hoothoot, male, body is purple instead of brown, has spiked feathers on his head, has a softer and fluffier appearance!!!!!

It’s an owl. He wanted to be an owl. He reeeeaaallly wants to evolve because Noctowl looks way cooler but he’s fine with what he’s got for now!!! He has a speed based build because he can fly very fast :)

Dark Meta Knight: Noibat, female, monochromatic colors with some red mixed in, mask with a scar, tattered wing membrane!!!

Purposefully decided on having a femal because he thinks it kicks ass a little more (also he loves his adopted daughter and decided that would be badass too). Built like a fucking assault tank but with speed. He absolutely leads the charge when he’s playing and takes every fucking hit possible if it’s aimed at his daughter. Gloats about his badass evolution and how fucking sick it looks despite having not evolved yet.

Daroach: Sneasel, male, wears a cloak and hat like his own, has yellow and longer claws!!!!

He didn’t like any of the existing rats and said “lemme get a thief pokemon” and settled on Sneasel. They have a team called the Squeak Squad and it’s comprised of his Sneasel and the squeaks own copies of the game! They play together in their free time and Daroach had Adeleine grab him a Sneasel so he could play on her copy too.

Magolor: Inkay, male, wears a blue cloak like his own, has yellow eyes!!! (The cloak doesn’t really fit until Inkay evolves)

Physically couldn’t choose and then someone showed him Inkay and he said “oh! I fucking hate them.” It was only until they showed him Malamar that he said “oh they look like they’d backstab someone. Perfect.” He likes how fucking ominous they look and how they would 100% be a supervillain given the chance. His Inkay is a good guy tho don’t worry.

Taranza: Joltik, male, has tiny fangs and little horns that grow out when they evolve, wears a cape, has little gloves on their hands!!!

He wanted Flabebe because of the flowers but was told someone already took that one and decided he’d take a spider Pokemon! Almost settled on Ariados but then saw Galvantula and got super excited. He likes their fuzzy look and thinks they are a lovely Pokemon!!

Susie: Gothita, female, eyes are gradient blue with no pupils, has pink accents on the head, more modern appearance!!

She couldn’t find any pretty ones with tech on them but liked Gothita! She thinks they look ok and Adeleine was nice enough to invite her over for PMD game day so she joined in. Her Gothita is surprisingly beastly and is a heavy hitter! However she also gets her ass kicked really fast because Gothita isn’t built for up close heavy hitting.

Zan Partizanne: Shinx, female, wears the same clothes as her, has more yellow on her!!

She really liked how Shinx looks. Tiny electric kitty puppy thing! She wanted to name it after some kind of thunder deity but wasn’t able to (she probably had a name for it tho). Speedy little powerhouse who looks adorable. Continues to tell Adeleine that she’s only doing this to repay her debt (and also for insulting her hairline) but is really just enjoying herself.

Flamberge: Fletchling, female, wears the hat and ribbon-like shawl, has spiked feathers that stick up a lot like her hair, more vibrant red!!!

She fucking loves this little bird. Like. A lot. Something about them is just so awesome to her. Maybe it’s because it evolves into a giant fire falcon but who knows! She just loves them and cherishes them with all her heart. BEGGED Adeleine to recruit them and managed to convince her (she had to offer up making her a cool sword to get it. Adeleine accepted the deal almost immediately because cool ass sword).

Francisca: Vanillite, female, wears the hat and shawl, has more vibrant blue, ice cream part is the same color as her hair!!!

You know exactly why she chose this one. Ice cream baby!!!!!!!! She thinks they’re lovely and wants a plush of them super bad (they don’t make them yet but merch happens eventually!). She jokes that they have an ice cream stash they live in.

Pitch: Pidgey, male, green in color!

He got to join in after the other animal friends told him! He’s good friends with Adeleine (all the animal friends are) and she let him pick a Pokemon! He doesn’t play as much because he has to use his little feet’s but he does his best!

Nago: Glameow, female, body is orange and the ears are brown! Eyes remain closed instead of open to reflect his design!

He wanted it to be a girl just because. He says it’s because it resembles his girlfriend a teensy bit (just in coat color really) and he loves her a lot. Little bastard cat causes trouble on adventures and purposefully runs off to look for the stairs by himself without any incentive from Adeleine.

Chuchu: Frillish, female, wears a small red ribbon and has a more vibrant pink body!!

Couldn’t choose originally but settled on Frillish because it’s the closest thing to her. Nicknamed it frilly and likes to cause problems. She’s got a pretty decent move set and knows how to kick ass with it tho so she makes up for her trouble with that.

Queen Ripple: Flabébé, female, wears glasses and has black ear frill things, wears her crown, and wears her dress!!! Flower is white!

She gets to play too!!!!! Adeleine offered to let her have a Pokemon and she plays though wireless connection! On a very rare occasion, she makes a trip out to Popstar for a week or so and gets to play during then! She has a lot of fun and adores the design for Flabébé so damn much (plus it’s fairy type and that makes her very happy)!!!

oh HO questions I can answer without spending half a century combing through my notes! I just have to make sure that I don’t, like, accidentally spoil the plot I’m working on, cause that would be kind of awkward. The names do not have any special meanings. Some of them are special to me personally because they are names I made when I was ten and they are still kicking around, but otherwise no. I made some of them myself, but most of them were random name generators or me going ghruiaghbuewaigobrsaug and then pulling names out of the mess. A lot of the species are indeed humanoid (for evolutionary reasons in the past that I am still thinking through) though there are a few that aren’t. An example would be the Vendrizi, whose homeworld is not yet mapped. The best way I could really describe them at the moment would be kind of like Malamar from Pokemon but with more tentacles and a rocky head. Actually almost closer to eight now, cause I started when I was 10 years old and I am not that age anymore :) The story that I am conceptualizing is actually several different plotlines that all take place within the same universe. The map shown here is mainly for the large-scale arc, while most of the other arcs are much more closed (taking place on a single world, usually.) None of those other worlds are mapped at this time. There is indeed a universal language (which ties in with the reason for the vast amount of humanoid species) as well as other ones that have developed as off-shoots of it. I haven’t actually spent that long developing characters (I’ve been really enjoying the world building part of this) but I would not rule out the possibility of at least one character having a hat. I admittedly have not fully fleshed out all of the magic systems I want to use, though I feel like I can talk a little about two of them here. The first one, which I am still in the very early stages of working on, pertains to space travel. If you look at the map, you can see that travel routes are very strict and defined. This is because the equivalent of the hyperdrive in this galaxy has a limited range. It consumes the magical substance I have not decided on yet, and this generally limits ships to travel between two worlds before they need to refuel. Those that can go longer usually stop at each world as a precaution. This limit on distance is why you don’t see any routes over the Irvint Expanse, for example. A second magic system I have worked on revolves around a special magic sphere that, after a significant event, grants a large number of people special powers. Just straight up superpowers. Like I’ve got someone who has a personal pocket dimension and someone who just has impervious hands and forearms. I can’t really explain more because I kind of want there to be some big reveal about this stuff if I ever write the story :)

I think that is all I will be saying to these questions at the current time but more questions are appreciated (as long as they don’t require me to get a PhD in organization first)

⚔️ Pokémon Sword Nuzlocke (Part 5) ⚔️

Took a few days off from playing because depression

Part 4 is here.

Let’s move forward, getting down to the nitty gritty!

Route 9

Very well designed Route I like how it branches off into different parts and it’s part water/part land.

I already caught a Mareanie here in part 4 so just gonna plow through some trainer battles.

That was pretty easy, now on to my least favorite part for the entire game - Spikemuth.

Spikemuth

Marnie is easy but god dammit her stupid Morpeko always gets flinches with Bite and it’s annoying as hell. Then she lands a crit with bite and nearly knocks out GurrenLagann, and flinches a forth time in a row 🤬. Luckily I hyper potioned that turn so it didn’t knock me out. I switched to SpicyNoodle and one shotted her ass with Bug bite.

Spikemuth is literally a hallway. I hate it. It’s so uninspired and I can tell the developers were running out of time when making it. Would it kill them to delay the next generation of games? I mean really, we’ll all wait if it means a finished product..

Team Yell isn’t even a villain “team” they’re literally just obnoxious gym trainers.....so much wasted potential. And they’re not even like funny obnoxious like Team Skull, they’re just straight up cringe. Also what’s with the Kantonian Mr. Mime? Feels very out of place...

Gym Challenge 7 - Piers

Piers has a cool design I guess. I definitely wasn’t prepared to lose Witch Bitch this battle though. Malamar used Foul Play got a critical hit and one shotted her....I don’t wanna talk about it 😭

Death aside, I now have the Dark Badge.

Route 9

Back on route 9 a somewhat interesting development in the plot...only to be told to ignore it and let the champion handle it off screen. 🙃

Gotta continue the gym challenge, it’s the most important thing!

Hammerlocke

More cutscenes about the world ending, but don’t worry the gym challenge is the most important thing!! They really rushed the end of this story line....

I trained up a bit in the Wild Area and now it’s time for the final Gym Challenge.

Gym Challenge 8 - Raihan

I like the double battle format, it’s a nice switch up and doubles are my preferred format. It’s odd to me it’s not the official battle format in the games given that it’s used in VGC...

Pretty easy battle. I now own the Dragon Badge.

Some more cutscenes about the world ending but don’t worry - the championship is the most important thing!

Heading back to the wild area to catch Pokémon from the last two areas I haven’t been.

Wild Area - Lake of Outrage

My first encounter was a Braviary but I had no choice but to kill it as it was doing too much damage to waste time catching it.

Wild Area - Axew’s Eye

While I’ve been to this area before to get a Tart Apple for Wormy, I didn’t try to catch a Pokémon as I thought they were too high level. I was wrong. My first encounter was a Diggersby 😅

Himbo - (Diggersby) Lv. 37!

Naughty Nature; Alert to sounds!

Now that I’ve trained up some and completed catching in the wild area it’s time to head north for a Wyndon.

Route 10

Petition to bring back victory road please? Route 10 is at least better than Mt. Lanakila in Moon, but still.

Mr. Mime is my first encounter here, and a female Mr. Mime at that. Perfect as a psychic will help me out in the battle with Eternatus later. RIP Witch Bitch. 😭 Welcome to the team Trans Rights!

I do some more training throughout the route and the wild area to level up Trans Rights, he evolves!

Wyndon

After some more training in the wild area I’ve finally reached Wyndon and the league matches.

First battle is Marnie. Turns out Mr. Rime is a great counter to her team despite being mostly dark types. I demolish Marnie and move on to the next round.

Hop is as easy as he always is...

So, the whole “omg Leon is gonna miss our dinner” plot point is soooo lame like...we’re really gonna storm a building cause he’s late for dinner? Hop is extra af 😂. And Oleana is like “no one can disturb my boss but I’m giving the key to this guy...you’ll never find him.” Uhm????

So now I gotta battle this guy like 3 times for a key to a storm a building....cause Leon is late for dinner? Wtf is the point of this part??? The bad writing would be easier to overlook if I wasn’t battling in a white void the whole time cause backgrounds are too hard to make for a AAA home console game..

I’m sorry but like how does Leon missing a dinner affect the championship the next day in anyway??? This part is so stupid 😂😭

Okay but really what was the point of that entire part? We get to the top of the tower and Leon is just like “oh yeah, let’s go get dinner” like who even wrote this??

I’m calling it a night after that. I remember the story being really bad but wow....that was awful and I can think of so many other ways to actually develop Chairman Rose into a villain. I know this is a kids game so I’m not expecting much here. The story in Sun and Moon was pretty solid imo, and i wish I could say “well they did so much more with this game” to justify the bad story but like....where? Ooof, I don’t wanna rant on this right now.

Hello, im gabe, and was hoping to ask for a pokemon trainer + team + hometown + etc. Ive been playing the games since i was about 8 or so and am now 20. Im a pisces gay boi and beyond pokemon i love video games, music, tarot, and big cities. Currently in college for Urban studies, and eventually urban planning. I always end up having a big lean towards steel and ghost type pokemon, and enjoy shiny hunting alot. Also ENFP-T

*(2) as far as why id want to become a trainer, itd mainly kinda be to see the world. Different cultures and environments, different architectures. Just to experience what every different city has to offer.

Trainer class: Tourist

Your main goals, as well as your pokemon's, are to travel and experience everything the world has to offer you. You are sure to prepare before embarking for a new destination and your pokemon help you ensure that you are never caught unprepared for a situation. You are rather fearless when it comes to meeting to people or finding new regions to explore, and your friends and pokemon admire your ability to walk into an entirely new city and feel immediately at home and excited. You are more able to go with the flow than a lot of other people, so you feel comfortable not having 100% of you time planned out. You do, however, enjoy organizing and planning so you usually have something planned for your day. You like to be productive when it involves things you like, so you have quite an extensive collection of notes and the like involving the cities you have visited and what you learned from them.

Starter: Chimchar

Your starter pokemon was Chimchar. In a lot of ways, Chimchar has been a force of chaos in your life, it is a very excitable and mischievous pokemon so it often has caused you trouble. In a lot of other ways, however, Chimchar is the one that keeps you sane during your extensive traveling and constant change. You can always count on Chimchar to have your back and to be excited about what you are excited about. Chimchar is one of the main reasons you felt confident enough to live how you want and travel constantly, as it encouraged you and pulled you forward even when others told you how things could go wrong.

Partner: Tangrowth

Tangrowth is a pokemon that you thought was kind of annoying at first, it tends to get lost easily and isn't the brightest or best at battling. Tangrowth needs a lot of help from you, but once you began bonding with it you realized that it is a truly happy pokemon. Tangrowth takes pleasure in simple things like a warm day or a cool breeze, but this is what endears you to it. In all of the places you visit, Tangrowth's vines will change to fit the local fauna more, so you are able to see all of the different sides of Tangrowth through your travels. Remember to stop and smell the roses with Tangrowth every once in a while to keep perspective!

Team: Infernape (starter), Accelgor, Runerigus, Malamar, Metagross

Hometown: Lumiose City, Kalos

Your hometown is Lumiose City in the Kalos region. Lumiose is an large city with a lot of hustle and bustle but also lots of nice areas to relax. There is a large arts culture in Lumiose as well, and there are a lot of businesses that incorporate pokemon into what they offer. Because of all of this, Lumiose has a lot of tourism. This led you to meet a lot of different people and hear a lot of stories of their travels and everything they have seen, somewhat sparking your interest in doing that yourself.

Battle style: Efficient and Impatient

You only really battle when it is required of you as you travel or if it is necessary for you to gain access to a region or building. For this reason you are a very efficient and sometimes impatient battler, you push out offensive moves and anything that will help you move on to get to what comes next. Your excitement can work with you or against you, depending on the day and how you use it. Your pokemon have come to learn that instead of being strategic they often just need to be powerful, so most of them have forgotten a lot of their slower multiturn moves in favore of faster or more efficient moves. Since your interest lies more in exploration and collecting new information or finding rare Pokemon, you tend to neglect training somewhat and you might lose a lot of battles, but this doesn't matter as much since you can get up, dust yourself off, and find a new town to learn about and new people to meet.

Kamishin headcanons

Shinsou's number on Denki's phone is registered as 'Malamar'

Shinsou's phone background is a picture of Kaminari with Muffin (Shinsou's cat) resting on the top of his head

Kaminari often quotes vines around Shinsou because he doesn't get the references and Kami always loses it at Shinsou's very bemused but serious replies

Kami: "So I'm sitting there, barbecue sauce on my titties..." / Shinsou, looking supremely disturbed: "why would you even pour sauce on yourself"

To make up for it, his knowledge in memes beats Kaminari's by a long shot because he's just that dead inside and memes speak to him on a spiritual level

Kaminari is not a morning person. He once drank three whole gulps of Shinsou's long black, triple espresso coffee before realizing the mistake. Afterwards, that became the story of his closest brush with Death

Kaminari is a very tactile person while Shinsou isn't. At first, this used to throw off Shinsou a lot because he valued his personal space and Kami seemed to be completely oblivious to his discomfort

Shinsou really likes horror movies. Denki finds this out at his own expense when he lets him buy tickets for their date at the cinema. He never made that mistake again

Shinsou: "Why do we have to go out if the couch and the tv are right there" / Kaminari: "oh my god, I'm dating a grandpa."

Shinsou is the boyfriend who reaches out to the top shelves. Kami is the boyfriend who answers phone calls

Kaminari: "do you like me?" / Shinsou: "Denki, we've been married for 10 years." / Kaminari: "yes but do you like me?"

Shinsou likes being the little spoon better but his limbs are too long and they sometimes make it awkward

The first time Shinsou stayed the night at Denki's and he had to borrow some sleep clothes, the only thing that fit him was Kami's oversized pikachu onesie, which was handed to him by a very shamefaced Kaminari who was totally not avoiding his eyes in embarrassment

It sort of became a tradition after that because Shinsou found it adorable that Kaminari was hiding one of those monstrosities in his closet

Kami: "Hitoshi, if you bring home another stray cat I swear to god that I'm gonna divorce you." / Shinsou: "But look at this cutie" *the cat pokes her head out of Shinsou's rolled-up sweater and meows softly* / Kaminari, already crumbling: "Damnit"

Kaminari is the type to kick in his sleep a lot while Shinsou is the one who unapologetically steals all the blankets

Shinsou isn't on any social media but Kaminari's friends know everything about him because Kaminari's feed is mostly made up of selfies featuring Shinsou in the background or really derp pics of his boyfriend that Kami took to annoy him and then swore he'd delete

Because of the height difference, Shinsou loves giving Kami forehead kisses and resting his chin on the top of his bf's head

Shinsou is really bad at remembering anniversaries, but he'll always get out of it alive because around those dates the browser history will be filled to the brim with google searches like: 'how to be romantic with your boyfriend of ten years when you've already tried it all', 'how to be smooth with your crush when he knows you're a loser', or '20 foolproof ways of sweeping your boyfriend off his feet'

Shinsou never tells him to delete his search history, but instead reads the articles because he could use the advice himself

((So, having realized I never really have discussed much about Will’s whole secret thing as a phantom thief, I figured I’d make a headcanon post about it here. This hc post will probs be pretty long, as most of my hc posts tend to be, and I will use it to cover his phantom thief MO, how his methods/career evolved, etc. So, without further ado...))

((So, as I discuss in his bio, Will first intended the whole phantom thief thing as a one time event. Initially, he only meant to expose the corruption in his circus group to ensure his coworkers got what was rightfully theirs and to stop the slander on his own name that the higher-ups were trying to push on him.

For a while afterwards, as he began traveling, Will did not use his alter ego. He never even thought to revive it--until he arrived in Kalos. Lumiose City’s corruption was particularly bad when Will visited, and the more he traveled and acquainted himself with people in the region, the more disgusted he felt with the level of corruption going on. It was, naturally, on a much higher level than what his little circus group was involved in, which gave him pause. Could he could do something? Should he do something?

A part of him still insisted that, unlike the circus, this was not his business, so he should stay away, and he agreed with it for a bit. Despite this, though, it didn’t stop Will’s curiosity from getting the better of him, and he did a large amount of research to understand the level of corruption he was seeing hints of sprouting up around him from below. Xatu, with her selective omniscience and illusionary skills, was extremely helpful. One could say, though, he dug too much, that his curiosity dragged him too far down, for he eventually stumbled upon an active plot that some of the corrupt elements of the people he’d been looking into were planning. It was a white collar level scheme, and some parts of the plan seemed like the same kind of stuff he encountered with his corrupt managers in the circus, but a fair deal larger in scale. Still, as disturbing as this information he stumbled upon was, he still didn’t want to get involved himself, so he turned over what info he had to the Lumiose police as an anonymous tipster...

...and then they promptly disposed of it.

In hindsight, it was obvious that there was a good chance part of the police force was compromised, but it had honestly slipped his mind, one that was already so wrapped up in just gathering the information of the scheme itself. But now all of that information was gone. He could regather it with Xatu’s help, but to what end? The police had rats in it, and he didn’t have the time to sort them out to find a safe person to give the info to so that they could properly investigate and stop the crime before it went full steam ahead. And what about himself? With all this investigating he had been doing, he was bound to start looking familiar to people. He also certainly couldn’t count on his identity staying ‘anonymous’ for long now, either.

So, again he took up his alter ego and planned a theft of the evidence himself. He sent a note to the corrupt police, his first calling card, really, urging them to reconsider and properly investigate the corrupt heads of this scheme. Then, when there was no response, Will went and exposed it himself by stealing the appropriate evidence.

The evidence reveal itself was not quite enough to completely stir action, given the depth of the corruption, but it did give several surviving witnesses the strength to come forward, setting a snowball of events that halted the scheme and led to the corrupt group scattering.

Given the larger scale of this whole thing, Will’s ‘name’ as Itsuki became cemented, partially because of the corrupt police who were still hanging onto power in the city at the time. They wanted this guy’s head, so they blasted him on the news and so on, trying to paint him as a dangerous anarchist so that normal people would be on the lookout too. Eventually, the manhunt did fade somewhat, but his reputation lingered. Thanks to the bad press by the police, he had his fair share of detractors, but it also gave him a small group of fans. People were grateful for his exposure of this corruption, though his methods as a phantom thief were questionable.

Will, however, chose to focus on the positives his alter ego brought out of this, and they were enough that it convinced him to continue to be a phantom thief.

Out of these two incidents, moreso the second than the first, Will began to create his MO and assemble a team.

For his behavior, he tends to not actively seek out criminals to expose, believe it or not. Usually, with his curiosity and constant traveling, they come to him. He tends to pick up all sorts of interesting stories and leads to pursue. Xatu and Delphox always help fill in the details and point him in the right direction when he shows interest in a lead. When he has a lead, he feverishly investigates it, again abusing Xatu and Delphox’s powers to help him search efficiently. He will sneak into places, listen in on people, disguise himself with illusions, and so on to get the information he seeks. Oftentimes this is done at night just for ease, but he will adjust if need be. Then, when he’s gathered enough and settled on his target, he will send a calling card. Originally, in another hc, I said his cards just say ‘Look forward to my arrival on xxx’, but now I think his card would say just a bit more than that. In addition to that bit, he would also probably first preface with asking the target to voluntarily give themselves up to law enforcement and publicly admit their crimes.

And just to be clear, yes I mean CRIMES. He does not go after people for petty shit--nothing short of egregious violations of law. For Will, his only targets are those ‘whose corrupt power has transcended that of the law’. Admittedly, these targets are rare and hard to find, and when he does find one, they take quite a bit of research and planning for Will to infiltrate. Now that he is an Elite, it’s even harder to find the time to do this stuff, but he still makes do. The rarity of his targets helps for sure.

Back to his behavior, Will tries not to wound people severely or use brute force when doing his heists. He practiced with his powers to specifically learn how to use them in nonlethal ways to assist his thievery. Eg using his Psyshock attack, which is meant to be a wild flurry of defense-piercing psychic shrapnel, as simple, single dagger-like attacks. Now, while he may not rely on brute force or anything, that doesn’t exclude other forms of attack, such as illusion, trickery, hypnosis, etc. He’s also quite fine with using other people’s attacks against them, too, like using his illusions to trick some bad guys into attacking each other and cause mass confusion for a time. Pokemon, also, are completely fair game.

And that is why he assembled a specific, small team of Pokemon to assist with his heists. He’d already encountered his Delphox and Reuniclus before he made his second heist in Lumiose, but now he mad them proper parts of his team. Eventually, he would add Malamar before his travels in Kalos were done. I’ve covered in a previous hc how all their powers help Will, what they can do, etc., so I won’t get into that here. In total, though, the most he ever uses in a heist is 5 Pokemon: Delphox, Malamar, Reuniclus, Xatu, and Gardevoir. Will dislikes using more than the first 3 for the sake of easy management and fear of associating his League team with his thief team, but if things get down to the wire he will.

Lastly, I’ll talk briefly about his outfit as a phantom thief. Unfortunately, I suck at costume and clothing design, so Will’s thief outfit has never been concrete. The most I can say with certainty is that his outfit would use dark colors, a different kind of mask, and gloves. Adding to that, his outfit would be symbolic in its design. That is, this all started because of that one incident at the circus. Now, I don’t think I mentioned it before, but another part of the circus incident was that Will was very possibly going to be made the new ringleader soon. His performances were one of the few that consistently attracted a large crowd, and plenty of his coworkers supported the choice. So, when all that mess with the circus cheating him and his coworkers out of money and slandering him, he felt a little more than miffed. So, he reflected his spite in his costume he chose: one that looked similar to a ringleader, though perhaps a little more exaggerated or ‘elegant’. So if I had to sum up his thief outfit, it would be ‘dark, masked ringleader’.

And for now, that’s about all I got. I think I covered a fair bit of my hc’s relating to his phantom thief behavior and origins/career evolution, anyways. I hope I made it clear enough. I’m always open for questions on anything relating to this ofc. And, honestly? Given the nature of his phantom thief MO, how secretive he is about it, etc., none of this phantom thief stuff ever has to come up in a thread if you don’t want to.))

If physic type Pokemon are used as security, wouldn't that make Jules' job difficult if she has to do a piece on a famous person or an exhibit?

((Short answer: Yes, but I am both stubborn and lazy so please go with it.

Long answer: Yes, however, the Press is well aware of her issues involving psychic types, and usually tries to find ways to accommodate it when she pitches an idea to them. A prime example is them never sending her anywhere near Anistar City, because simply being in an area so saturated in psychic energy would be a disaster.

They can’t help her when she says ‘I’m going to interview mafia bosses and other sketchy people’, however.

Other than that...please consider that psychic-type Pokémon are not the first line of defense in most cases. Cameras, sensors, standard security guards with other Pokémon-these tend to do enough when an event or something is open to the public (after hours may be a different story, which is part of why Jules can’t be a gem thief, if anyone remembers that conversation). The fact that dark-type Pokémon are immune also wouldn’t help.

If anything, an active psychic presence could create conflict in some situations, as I’m sure there are plenty of Pokémon that would interpret it as a challenge or an invitation to battle. Plus it might disrupt the experiences of trainers such as mediums, aura users, or even other psychics.

For Jules, there’s no avoiding all psychic-type Pokémon, especially not in a busy city like Lumiose. But there’s kind of a...hierarchy of threat for her? In terms of what she can endure. List below the cut.

(Disclaimer: I do not claim any medical diagnosis for Jules. Also this is currently a train-of-thought list, so things may change and become more coherent later.)

Passive exposure to psychic Pokémon in an open environment (out of the street, for example): Endurable at this point

Non-psychic Pokémon using psychic-type moves: The mental equivalent of a burst of loud radio static, fades quickly. Might be on-edge afterwards.

Weaker psychic-type Pokémon (Natu, Espurr, Abra) passively in her immediate environment: Immediate, pronounced spike in stress and anxiety, but can be endured for up to a few hours.

(From this point on, she prefers to have a strong drink after encounters)

Strong psychic-type Pokémon (Metagross, Espeon, Gothitelle) passively in her immediate environment: Immediate, intense spike in stress and anxiety, which can turn into a panic attack if she remains in proximity for more than a few minutes.

Inkay (maybe also Beheeyem): Mild panic attack. Very disorienting, and accompanied by a painful headache. Any memories around this time tend to be fuzzy.

Psychic-type Pokémon using psychic-type moves in her vicinity/Non-psychic Pokémon using psychic-type move on her: Painful and terrifying, but short-lived. May suffer a migraine afterwards, and memories surrounding the event may be fuzzy.

Legendary psychic-type Pokémon in her immediate environment: Intensely painful migraine, to the point that she can’t form words. Needs physical help to get out of the situation, an may be in a state of panic after leaving the vicinity. Probably no memory of the event.

Psychic-type Pokémon using psychic-type move on her: Shutdown. Cannot talk, cannot move of her own accord, but tends to cling to any form of support she can get after the attack (she might not want you to leave her). Takes a few hours, during which she’s very disoriented. Intense migraine. No memory of the event, and may struggle to form memories for up to a week after.

Malamar: Complete shutdown. Will not respond to outside stimulus. Probably will not move. Takes several hours to recover, potentially experiencing alternating episodes of panic and derealization during this time along with an intense migraine. No memory of the event, and may struggle to form memories for up to a week after, especially if attacked.

Her reaction to Hoopa (particularly Unbound Hoopa) is unknown at the moment. However, as discussed in the past, Hoopa might be able to bypass the memory block created by Malamar, which could either be really good or horribly, horribly bad (especially depending on the intention).

Why do inkay need to be upside-down to evolve? (Also, are Mallomar cookies named after the pokemon, or was that a coincidence?)

These are both excellent questions, anonymous. With the first, it simply orients the inkay into the best position to become malamar, as their “caps” are more stable to serve as feet and support their weight. (Malamar lose their ability to float in the air for extended periods of time upon evolution, largely because they devote their telekinetic power to, well, battling instead.) That and their tentacles become unwieldy in inkay’s “right-side-up” position, but turning around allows them to develop into arms. Because of all this, if the inkay evolves without turning, the malamar will essentially develop into a giant inkay unsuited for land, so inkay in general are particularly careful to orient themselves in the best manner to ensure maximum mobility.As for Mallomars, no, that’s definitely a coincidence. However, Pockychu is a different story.[[Bill, Pockychu doesn’t even exist... —LH]]

Day Five - Rituals!

Fandom: Kamen Rider Saber

Pairing(s): Mei Sudo x Rintaro Shindo

Prompt: Day Five - Rituals!

Notes: This piece is set in my Kamen Rider Saber x Pokémon crossover universe.

Their first ritual was always letting their Pokémon out to play with each other. His Vaporeon and her Sylveon, in particular, always enjoyed playing together. The others always made comments about how cute the two Pokémon were around each other, leading to speculation that the two Pokémon had the same relationship as their trainers. Of course, the nature of Mei and Rintaro’s relationship was full of just as much speculation as their Pokémon. Ryo swore they were the cutest thing he’d ever seen, aside from his own son, Sora. Ren would say they were sickeningly cute and run off to train his Pokémon to be the strongest. Touma and Kento would just smile and be happy for Mei and Rintaro finding their happiness.

After letting their Pokémon out to play, their second ritual involved training. The fun and games were over. Clefable was sent out against Poliwrath. Mei knew she had the type advantage, but Rintaro was smart and was probably already keeping his type disadvantage in mind. He instructed Poliwrath to Dig his way under the ground, but Mei instructed Clefable to shoot a Moonblast right into the hole. She gleefully shot the pink blast of moon energy into the hole Poliwrath had just dug and watched as poor Poliwrath shot out like a cannonball being fired out of a cannon. Poliwrath landed on the ground, swirls in his eyes. Mei and Clefable hugged and celebrated. Rintaro looked sad, but knew the loss was his fault. He knew Poliwrath had a type disadvantage against Clefable but thought he’d developed a strategy to overcome that. Poliwrath looked at his trainer with the same sad eyes, though his sadness stemmed more from disappointment rather than anger. Poliwrath gave Rintaro a hug and walked over to Mei. Poliwrath spoke a few words to Mei, though she had no idea what he was saying, then began pushing her towards Rintaro. Clefable chirped happily and helped Poliwrath push Mei towards Rintaro. She hugged both trainers and smiled in a way that she was saying, “My work here is done!”

Their third ritual involved fighting off Team Megid. They used Dark-type Pokémon, which meant Mei’s Fairy-types were the perfect antithesis. Their ritual of fighting off villains was, more often than not, a team ritual. Rintaro could remember the day when Team Megid’s five Admins first approached them, Grunts surrounding Team Saber from all angles. Each member of Team Saber sent out their strongest Pokémon, Touma’s Mega Charizard X, Rintaro’s Poliwrath, Kento’s Togedemaru, Ryo’s Hippowdon, Ren’s Mega Pidgeot, and Mei’s Clefable. Team Megid’s Admins also sent out their strongest, Storious’s Shiftry, Legeiel’s Absol, Zooous’s Mightyena, Calibur’s Malamar, and Desast’s Zoroark. The Grunts sent out their assorted Houndour, Poochyena, Nickit, and Purrloin, but were swiftly defeated by the combined might of Team Saber. The Admins were a different story.

Team Saber paired off to face the Admins. Touma and Kento faced Storious and Calibur, Rintaro and Mei faced Zooous and Legeiel, and Ren and Ryo faced Desast. The Admins were much more difficult to defeat, even while paired up and each trainer using their strongest Pokémon. Whenever an attack would come close to hitting Mei, Rintaro would start losing his cool, calm, and collected demeanor. The other members of Team Saber thought it was cute that he was worried about her, but they couldn’t afford to take their eyes off their battles long enough to say anything. When an Alakazam entered the fray, Team Saber knew things were going to get better. The female Alakazam belonged to Team Saber’s mentor, Sophia, and she was a very powerful Pokémon. Despite the fact that none of her Psychic-type attacks did any damage to Team Megid’s Pokémon, Alakazam still looked intimidating. Sophia had her use Psychic, not to attack, but to lift each of the Admins into the air. She held them there for a small length of time and then let them down. Afterwards, Sophia had Alakazam use Dazzling Gleam. Storious merely smiled and called for his team to retreat for the time being. Legeiel and Zooous wanted to argue, but thought better of it. Team Megid retreated and Team Saber recalled their Pokémon. Sophia smiled and thanked her team. The team retreated to their base to celebrate.
