23 Fic Recs 2023!
This year has definitely been a year. I've devoured so many wonderful fics by so many amazing authors. Thank you @hprecfest for the super fun rec categories and for some fic inspiration! Here are 23 fics that I read and loved in 2023 (although some are quite a few years older) ordered by ship.

1. A post-canon fic
The Discreet Gentleman's Connection by pluto (gayrights420) [Drarry, E, 80.4k] ๐ผ๐ฅ I had the absolute pleasure of beta-ing for this fic, so when I say it is amazing, it truly is just that. Fast burn on the smut via Floo sex, slow burn on the in-person falling in love. Satisfying in all the best possible ways.
2. A fic that made me laugh
AITA for being "obsessed" with my childhood nemesis? by @rainstormradish [Drarry, M, 4.3k] ๐ผ๐ฒ Draco on a reddit forum is hilarious just on its own, but the banter and formatting really bring this fic to life. Amazingly creative, had me in stitches!
3. A comfort fic
The Eighth Tale by @letteredlettered [Drarry, E, 12.0k] ๐โณ An oldie but a goodie. I constantly find myself coming back to this fic and having my mind blown every single time. Time travel timey-wimey angst.
4. A fic with art
Dating Draco - A Visual Game by @itsphantasmagoria [Drarry, M, Video Game] ๐ผ๐ฎ This is a fic in video game form!! Amazing art and lovely story where YOU get to make the choices for Drarry's happily ever after.
5. A favorite series
The Journal of Dreadful Things by @lilbeanz [Drarry, G, 112k, WIP] ๐ผ๐ Hilarious, witty, AND COMES WITH ART!! Lilbeanz draws and writes a wonderfully delightful series starting from Draco's First Year. His characterization had me in hysterics. Book 4 is starting soon!

6. Fic with the hottest smut
Moonstruck by @prettyremus [Wolfstar, E, 3.8k] ๐ฅ๐บ Found this gem while scrolling through the werewolf smut tag (don't judge me). I love the switch in dynamic with Sirius taming Remus's wolf through, ahem, rough sex.
7. An unreliable narrator fic
Sea of White by @dividawrites [Harrymort, E, 8.6k] ๐ฅ๐ค Deliciously hot, creepy, and strangely sweet. Love their dynamic here, the unrestrained lust. Harrymort "die" and lose their memories, so, of course, then they bang.
8. A fic that made me cry
Far Apart, Far Away by @unmistakablyoatmeal [Hinny, minor Drarry, T, 1.6k] ๐๐ Infidelity angst has never been this good. I love the layers of emotion in this fic. Quick punchy sections that really pulled me in.
9. A Muggle(?) AU fic
Pleasant Hope by @ac1d6urn, @sinick [Snarry, E, 41.6k] ๐โช๏ธ Pastor Severus!! The angst, pining, and self-discovery in this fic is superb! I love the interwoven magic and detailed world-building of this little town.

10. A fav amongst faves
The Last Trial of Peter Pettigrew by @sleepstxtic [Prongstail, M, 20.8k] ๐ ๐ Holy moly, this fic!!!! Is this my new favorite fic?? Possibly. The concept is brilliant, so creative and nuanced. The Peter character study using outsider perspectives is genius. Seamlessly balances canon and new scenes.
11. A pre-canon fic
Careless by @tax-onomic [Luther, E, 1.5k] ๐ฅ๐ช Lucius/Arthur my beloved rare pair!! I am captain of the Luther ship, and Tax's fic hits all the right spots. The pining, the sniping, the prickly personalities with emotional vulnerability underneath! And all in the middle of a hot smut scene. Perfect.
12. A canon-compliant fic
Scottish by thepadfoots [Chedric, G, 749] ๐๐ Lovely Cho character study focused around her Asian identity and the boy she loved.
13. A fic rated G (more like T though)
Lion-Hearted Girl by MinnieQuill (odainath) [Minmione, G, 4.5k] ๐๐ฆ I know the large age gap might scare some, but their relationship feels very organic in this fic. The setting is grim, but there is always hope in the darkness!
14. A fic rated T
You're So Vane by @patriceavril [Romelina, T, 6.8k] ๐ผ๐Romilda is so delightfully characterized, I was smiling through the entire fic. Angelina is the perfect foil (and love interest) to Romilda's attentions.
15. A rare pair fic (less than 2000 fics on AO3)
Snakeskin by @cntrl15 [Bellastoria, E, 3.7k] ๐ฅ๐ Talk about a rare pair! Astoria/Bellatrix only has 2 tagged fics on AO3: this fic and the drabble I wrote based on it. But read this fic, and you'll see why I felt the need to write more in this universe.
16. A fest fic
Master of None by @nanneramma [Snormac, G, 5.5k] ๐ผ๐ง Severus is so wonderfully cranky, and Cormac is fine AF. The surprise pairing of 2023 that I never knew I needed and now I'm obsessed with!
17. An under-rated fic
Sun, Shadow, Shade by @naomijameston [Snuna, G, 700] ๐ผโ๏ธ Post-war fluff. Sunshine Luna is the perfect match for sullen Snape. A short and sweet fic for this underrated ship.
18. A canon-divergent fic
but somebody's gotta do it by nocturn [Pangulus, T, 920] ๐๐งโโ๏ธ This fic will make you say WTF but also huh, okay that totally works. The concept is WILD but Lyra executes it wonderfully. Pansy drags Regulus out of the inferi lake and they flirt a little while he gets de-corpsified lol.

19. A dark fic
In his embrace by @loneamaryllis [Snarrymort, het!Snarry, E, 48k] โก๏ธ๐ Dark and dirty but so so good. A Voldemort Wins AU where fem!Harry is taken as prisoner. Snape's mindset as he tries to save her (and is forced to rape her) is so twisted and mesmerizing. Mind the tags!
20. A thought-provoking fic
Icarus by @thistlecatfics [Millvansy, M, 20.0k] ๐๐พ War trauma, addiction, codependency! This fic is messy with emotions but has a strong, beating heart underneath. I am in love with Parvati as she deals with Pansy's addiction and Millicent's denial โ three beautiful, imperfect girls.
21. A holiday fic
A Time, Dark and Divine by @moonflower-rose [Dronarry, E, 17.0k] ๐ฅโฑ HOLY FREAKING FUCK!! The sexual tension in this fic is off the freaking charts. Drarry seducing Ron while on vacation in Portugal. Sign me the fuck up!

The Scrunchie by @saintsenara [Lightning Era Girls, G, 4.5k] ๐๐ญ Such a lovely look into some of the female background characters, all following the path of a single scrunchie. Lisa, Padma, Parvati, Hannah, Sally-Anne.
23. A fic with an ending I can't stop thinking about
Through the Middlegame by @sandervansunshine [Astoria & Peter, T, 6.6k] ๐โ Devastating, heart-wrenching, tragic. 10000% would recommend. Kylee has already heard me screaming in the servers about this fic. If I could get a fic tattooed straight onto my brain, this would be it.

Plenitude by @wilfriede, written by eldritcher [Amelmione, M, 14 min] ๐๐ฅ Amazing voices, amazing music, amazing ambience. Wilfriede really brings one of my fav Hermione/Amelia Bones fics to life in this podfic!
A comic
War Prize by @mrviran [Snegulus, Reggiemort, M, Comic, WIP] โ ๏ธ๐ The panels are awe-inspiring. I am HOOKED on this comic. The murder and the TENSION. Ughhhhh so good. I am so invested in Severus's arc!!
A self-rec (completely self-indulgent)
For I Have Found Salvation by @lumosatnight [Snarry, E, 7.1k] ๐ฅโ My first time writing Snarry! Priest Kink, church sex, and blasphemous religious imagery. Priest Severus is oh-so-tempted by Teen Harry. So fun to write and even more fun to go back and read as a guilty pleasure.

There have been some fantastic fics this year. Out of the hundreds that I've read (yes, hundreds) here are some of my favorites! 2. Romp and Circumstance by @wolfpants [Drarry, E, 36k] ๐ผ ๐ฅ If you enjoy slag Harry with a heart of gold trying to woo his way into Draco's pants, then this fic is for you. Did I mention it's regency era?

A super sweet college AU fic in which Drarry end up being unlikely roommates. They still remain in character while being genderswapped!

7. oops I did it again by Anonymous [Jily, E, 16k] ๐ผ ๐ฅ College AU where James and Lily are accidental fuck buddies and Lily is confused about it. Their dynamic is flirty and combative! I love James so much in this.
8. The funny thing about grief and time by @etalice [Snarry, E, 44k] ๐ ๐ซ This fic is flipping fantastic! The angst is glorious, the setting is gorgeous, the interactions are beautiful. Time travel and loneliness wrapped into one amazing story!
9. a mass of fools and knaves by @displayheartcode [slash!Romione, T, 2.6k] ๐ผ ๐ Short but sweet. Male Hermione is instantly drawn to Ron and how they grow together throughout the years. You'll be rooting for them the whole time!

10. Growing Teeth by @earlybloomingparentheses [Flonks, E, 2.6k] ๐ ๐ฅ This is a story about growth and recovery and fucking. This is also a story about hair and cutting it all off to finally feel free. Fantastic characterization!
11. Crown Enterprises by @storyof-eden [Cissamione, E, 3k] ๐ ๐ฅ I cannot get over this fic!! Mob boss Narcissa and assassin Hermione are the murder lesbians of my dreams.
12. Little Old Witch by @anxiousgoat-blog [Aragusta, G, 12k] ๐ผ ๐ถ This is an AU I can get behind 1000%! Augusta Longbottom finds out Harry is being abused and raises him herself. With the help of the friendly neighborhood squib :)
13. Extraordinarily Ordinary by starstruck1986 [Sirron, E, 9k] ๐ ๐ฅ This ship came out of nowhere, but once I read this fic I couldn't unsee it. Ron is just the right amount of innocent and insecure to be taken in by Sirius's charms.
14. Courtship Rituals by @impishtubist [Cedrarry, T, 4k] ๐ผ ๐น Cedric tries to court Harry, but of course he's oblivious. This is cute and hilarious!
15. Yes, Minister by iamisaac [Kingco, E, 1.5k] ๐ฅ ๐ This is pure filthy smut between Draco and his minister boyfriend. Hop aboard the Kingsley/Draco ship where there's mind-blowing sex and that sweet sweet age difference!
16. Gyre and Gimble by eldritcher [Drarity, M, 3k] ๐ โ๏ธ A stunning fic from one of my hands-down favorite authors! Draco is drawn to the prisoner in the manor's basement. Charity is perhaps a little mad.

17. A Life Worth Remembering by @writcraft [Snarryaco, E, 23k] ๐ ๐ฅ Memory loss, de-aged Severus Snape, and established Drarry pulling him into the fold. This fic is such a wonderful dive into polyamory and relationships.
18. Terms and Conditions by @maraudersaffair [Linnansy, E, 8k] ๐ผ ๐ฅ Pansy can't get over her ex (Ginny) and is stuck on a trip with Ginny's new girlfriend (Luna). This fic made me laugh, swear, and sweat all in one sitting.
19. Slice of Pleasure by @misdemeanor1331 [Bleonsy, E, 5k] ๐ฅ ๐ช Theo is obsessed with knives, Pansy is obsessed with Theo, and Blaise is just there for a good time. Knife kink and hot smut. Like very hot. Very very hot. But also sweet.

20. Nine Hundred and Twelve by @cannibalschism [Fred & George, T, 5k] ๐ ๐งโ๐คโ๐ง This fic is filled to the brim with metaphors, friendship, and life lessons. I absolutely loved this take on time travel and the journey that George takes. Percy is the real MVP!
21. Where You Belong by blue_string_pudding [Severus, T, 6k] ๐ ๐ This is probably the creepiest, most unsettling thing I've ever read. I completely ADORE it. But I was definitely checking around corners after reading it.
22. Family Legacy by @thistlecatfics [The Tonks, T, 2k] ๐ผ ๐ Following Ted, Nymphadora, and Teddy as they navigate life and queer identity. This is a fic that is so wonderfully poignant, it leaves you in awe of all that it accomplished.

Here's a WIP I'm excited about for 2023!
One More to Love by @krethes, @theresthesnitch [Wolfstarbucks, E, 94k, WIP] ๐ผ ๐ฅ Omegaverse and surprise pregnancy! The sexual chemistry between the three is off the charts! I'm not usually into WIPs, but for this I am (im)patiently waiting for every update.
Also a cheeky self-rec because why not?
What is this, fucking Jeopardy? by @lumosatnight [Drarry, E, 20k] ๐ผ โCursed Draco meets Curse-Breaker Harry. Lots of misunderstandings, humor, oblivious boys in love, and talking in circles. Will Draco ever be cured? Was the author in hysterics while writing this?

Lani's Birthday Oneshots: 2023 Edition!
So, today is my birthday (SCREAMING!), and as a continuation of last year's tradition, I present a ONESHOT REC LIST to celebrate ๐ฅณ! Here are 15 oneshots, all under 10k words, one for each day in June leading up to my birthday. Lots of genres, lots of tropes, ordered by ship (kinda).

2. Boy Wonder by @maesterchill [Draco/Harry/Ron, E, 6.1k] ๐ฅ๐น Established in love Rarry with Draco returned from abroad! Wonderful Ron characterization, witty snappy dialogue, and dacryphilia!!!
3. A Saving People Problem by @the-francakes [Draco/James, E, 5.9k] ๐ฅ๐๏ธ Draco living at Grimmauld place, and James can't keep his eyes off of him. Oh heck yeah! Surprisingly sweet for such a hot cross-gen pairing. Also poor Harry lol.
4. Gray Eyes (Tell No Lies) by @danpuff-ao3 [Sirius/Draco, E, 3.7k] ๐ฅ๐ Draco with a lingerie kink! Sirius with a one-way magic mirror! So hot, so delectable. Throw in a praise kink too, and I'm drooling.
5. A Sight to Behold by @lumoslyra [Sirius/Luna, T, 2.5k] ๐ผ๐ฅ Luna and Sirius dancing around each other. Hermione watching it all and Harry is just confused. Super cute and sweet.
6. in rivulets, in waves by @dulosis [Bellatrix/Luna, M, 2.0k] ๐๐ Dark and deceptive. I couldn't put this fic down. What happens if Bellatrix survives the war? What if Luna takes her in?
7. Catch Me As I Fall by @this-world-of-beautiful-monsters [Bellatrix/Lily, T, 5.8k] ๐ผ๐ This fic is a wonderful AU of Lily befriending Bellatrix at Hogwarts. How she slowly changes, how she still is roped into the war. Just spectacular!
8. (give me) the first taste by @iamsiriuslyriddikulus [Narcissa/Lily, M, 4.4k] ๐๐ฟ Narcissa and Lily as hot moms smoking weed!!! Yes!! This Muggle AU is so well thought-out. The characters are so memorable. (Also I'm a sucker for flangst).
9. Love in a Hopeless Place by @dragonsandotters-dh [Remus/Narcissa, T, 4.6k] ๐๐บ So much hurt but also so much comfort. Draco gets bitten by Greyback. A heart-wrenching and hopeful look into the aftermath.
10. Male Bonding by musigneus [Remus/Severus, E, 9.8k] ๐ฅ๐ This is angsty fuck-or-die to the max. Trapped in a cellar before the full moon. But it's SO GOOD and a somewhat hopeful ending.
11. Open a Vault For Me by Sevanna_OHera [Charity/Severus, M, 3.4k] ๐๐งช I found this pairing recently, and the angst level is off the charts. So much hope and longing in this fic and also a canon-compliant ending.
12. Table for One by @littlesixxwrites [Dean/Blaise, T, 3.2k] ๐ผ๐ I LOVE THIS SHIP. Bean is the cutest. This fic has instantly smitten Blaise and equally enamored Dean. Lovely fluffy fic that made me squeal with happiness.
13. Maybe This Time (alternatively: once more, with feeling!) by @wanderingdonut [Regulus, G, 4.6k] ๐คฃ๐ป THIS FIC!! I died laughing from this fic, then I came back to life cackling and died all over again. Ghost Regulus is perfect. Snarky and entitled and wallowing in death lol.
14. toxicology by @batmansymbol [Hermione, G, 2.9k] ๐๐ A fascinating dive into the possible implication of Harry being a horcrux for so many years. I love how we view everything through Hermione's unreliable narration.
15. just a few sweaters by Prettything_uglylie [Molly, G, 2.4k] ๐ผ๐งถ This story is a cup of hot cocoa in front of the fire. Warm and sweet and content. I adore it with my whole heart.
BONUS FIC (>10k): Tiny Dancer by @rainchance [Neville/Pansy, M, 12.4k] ๐ผ๐ฉฐ A super sweet Panville fic with ballet dancer Pansy and film student Neville. Wonderful background characters and mutual pining.

Untagged Fest 2023 favs!
Untagged Fest 2023 just ended, run by the HPFC Discord server! This was my second time participating and I had just as much fun as I did last year. It's always a new experience reading a fic when it's first published with absolutely zero tags. Here are a 10 of my favorites (listed by title)!

๐ hollow hearts by @girl-with-goats [Teddy/Victoire, T, 7.0k] โ Fabulous world-building, wonderful imagery, packed full of colorful metaphors and heartfelt emotions.
Surviving in the post-apocalyptic, totalitarian world where emotions are banned from adults is not an easy feat. Victoire Weasley tries to navigate it and not lose herself in the process, all while falling in love with her best friend, Teddy Lupin.
๐ Just a Minerva in Time by @bluestringpudding [Hermione/Minerva, G, 6.4k] โ Time travel, BAMF young Minerva, intrigue, romance! This fic has everything!
Hermione is going to need to remember how she got there, if she wants to go back.
๐ Master of None by @nanneramma [Cormac/Severus, G, 5.5k] โ Hilarious and made me cry tears of joy. A masterpiece in comedy. Severus has finally met his match in himbo (and buff!) Cormac.
Severus tries new things, and meets someone unexpected.
๐ mephistopheles by @hang-the-deejay [Hermione/Harry, E, 6.4k] โ Mind the tags!! Includes rape/non-con!! This is dirty, dark, and CRAZY GOOD. A dead dove fic that had me at the edge of my seat and yelling into the abyss (or in the Discord server).

Her grey-scale painted lips, darker than the billowing curls and sharper than her teeth, never turn down. They are lighter than the oily drip down her temples, glittering in her hair. She is always smiling.ย It surely is a marvel, to behold the presence of the Mad Queen.ย
๐ Through the Middlegame by @sandervansunshine [Astoria & Peter, T, 6.6k] โ One of my absolute favorite portrayals of Peter I have ever read. The dialogue, the characters, the angst. I want to tattoo this fic directly onto my brain. Perhaps my new fav fic of the year!
Two prisoners, both a little broken, set out in pursuit of their survival.
๐ Unspeakable Acts by @ladyvoldywrites [Rufus/Dolores, M, 4.8k]โ A wild pairing with a wild premise! The banter is perfect. This fic converted me to a Dolores lover and I didn't think that was possible.
The death of a child. A stolen Time-Turner. In an effort to solve this heinous act, an unlikely duo falsify a betrothal to gain entry into an underground crime ring.
๐ who lives in the castle? by @luxuriousmalfoy [Cho & Harry, M, 2.5k] โ The ambience, the vibes!! I loved the mystery and the world-building. And of course, I love my girl Cho.
A century after the abrupt disappearance of magic, they seek out the place they hope to find it againโonly to find themselves wondering if it was worth the cost. Cho and Harry have one question. Who lives in the castle?
๐ You're So Vane by @patriceavril [Angelina/Romilda, T, 6.8k] โ The perfect romcom fic. Romilda is such a hoot, and her antics are so on brand. If this was turned into a movie, I'd be the first one at the theater.
Romilda is determined to seduce her nephewโs Quidditch instructor, even if she has to get a bit creative.

5 Underrated Ships (+ recs)
All of these ship asks have been making me scroll through my fics list, and I've realized there are some ships that I just really vibe with but probably no one will ever ask me about. So, I'm forcing them on you instead! Mwuahaha. Here are 5 underrated ships with fics recs!!

1. Bellatrix/Molly (Mollytrix)
Canonically speaking, Molly and Bellatrix attended Hogwarts at the same time, most likely even in the same year. Just imagine Gryffindor!Molly striking up a friendship with Slytherin!Bellatrix. Now imagine that spanning years and years. Imagine Molly being devastated when she has to break things off because "Bella's been spending just a little too much time talking about joining a cult." Imagine years and years pass and Bellatrix sees Ginny on the battlefield. "She looks just like her, the one who left her, the one who abandoned her." Molly personally killing Bellatrix in the BOH seemed awfully personal, I'm just saying.

2. Tom/Myrtle (Tyrtle)
This was brought up the other day in the HPFC server, and I was reminded how much I absolutely adore this pairing. Why did Myrtle have to die? Tom, especially at the age of 16, seemed particularly selective with his kills. I do not believe for a single second that Myrtle just happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. I think they had history. Probably one-sided, probably very unhealthy, but I believe she was more than just a passing annoyance to Tom.

3. Lucius/Arthur (Luthur)
The bookshop scene in CoS has too much tension for Lucius and Arthur not to have a complicated past. They got in a full-on brawl in the middle of the bookstore with both their families present. Look me in the face and tell me there isn't something else going on there. An unrequited love? A past hook-up? Lingering feelings? Something. Anything.
My ship rating: "Lucius," said Mr. Weasley, nodding coldly.

After Lucius Malfoy goads Arthur Weasley into a brawl at Flourish and Blotts, both men find themselves stuck on their mutual memory of the night they spent together in 1967, before the Wizarding War began. But Lucius wants more than just a memory.

4. Narcissa/Charity (Charcissa)
I'm actually a huge fan of Charity and a lot of characters (Charity/Severus, Charity/Draco, Charity/Hogwarts professor), but something about being trapped in the Malfoy's manor and strung up above the Malfoy's table makes Charity/Narcissa extra special. Narcissa being in her own home and having absolutely no power to stop Voldemort from staining her dining room table. Delicious angst.

5. Luna/Theo (LoveNott)
I personally headcannon Luna and Theo as kind of the oddballs in their houses. Luna is a Ravenclaw, sure. She's witty and clever and smart (albeit not in the usual test-taking way), but she's also flighty and prone to delusion and weird (yes, she's super weird and we love her for that). We don't know much about Theo, but I picture him as quiet and nerdy and a little bit of a pushover. With such strong personalities, such as Draco and Pansy in your house, someone's gotta be the meek one. But he's also reluctant to follow someone blindly. He's reluctant to dedicate himself to a cause that he really doesn't know that much about. I love the idea of Luna and Theo getting into ethical debates. Luna shows more care to magical creatures than Theo has seen Death Eaters show to fellow wizards. Luna is weird and wild and unpredictable, which is the complete opposite of what Theo has always known, and he likes it.

His mouth tastes like vinegar and his skull is nearly vibrating with pain and Luna Lovegood is sitting beside him like some sort of strange guardian, flower-bound headband and bare feet and all.

Kill Your Darlings 2022 Recs!
@hp-mcd-fest has ended, and I still haven't recovered from all the amazing fics! There were so many (SO MANY) good ones. MCD has always been hit or miss for me, but boy did these fics hit!! And hit reallll good. Here are 7 of my favorite stories from the fest!

๐ Five Graves by Chelonie [Triwizard Contestants, M, 3.7k] ๐ This fic tore my heart out and then pummeled it into the ground. And I would 1000% read it again. What if the Triwizard Tournament went wrong?

๐ I'll take a quiet life by @deliciousblizzardshark [Harry/Severus, E, 5.0k] ๐ A mourning Harry who is so desperate he brings Snape back from the dead. Absolutely delicious angst.
Severus is dead but Harry, who has just come to understand what they mean to each other, is master of death.
๐ Snake Eyes by @diana-skye [Myrtle/Tom, M, 1.3k] ๐ I ADORE Myrtle fics! She's just a girl, really, an insecure teenager looking for acceptance. The Tom in this is ruthless and amazingly characterized.

All Lucius Malfoy wants is to have a proper, pureblood heir and to eat his breakfast in peace. Is that really too much to ask?
๐ a long way back to the light by @swoontodeath [Colin/Harry, M, 3.8k] ๐ LOVED this fic. Just the right amount of creepy and also a dash of mystery. Colin is such an underused character imho.
Colin Creevey should have died seven years, three months, and four days ago. Actually, Colin Creeveyย didย die seven years, three months, and four days ago. It just didnโt stick.
๐ Nine Hundred and Twelve by @cannibalschism [George Weasley, T, 5.1k] ๐ TIME TRAVEL, ANGST, WONDERFUL METAPHORS. This story has it all. I love the description of time travel in this ficโas unnatural, unknown. George is so desperate to get Fred back that he forces his way through the unyielding layers of time.
After long nights, impossible exams, and years of studying, my application to join the honourable ranks of those Wixen known only as Unspeakables has been accepted. Dad could not be more proud. Mum bleeding cried at the ceremony. My siblings congratulated me for finally doing something other than grieving Fred. They all said this would be good for me, that this would be a fresh start.
They donโt know I did it all for you. All for you, Fred.
๐ Sartre Versus the Stoics by JK_Terfling_Can_Suck_My_Silicone_Dick [Draco/Harry, M, 19.5k] ๐ If you want to have a good cry, I HIGHLY recommend this fic. It deals with grief in such a wonderful, very real way. It definitely has the same vibes as Stop All the Clocks, another heart-wrenching Drarry fic.
After Harry Potter kills himself without warning, his friends and family are left to pick up the pieces on their own

3. A Cold Spot in Hell by FeelsForBreakfast [Draco/Harry, 8.1k, E] ๐ ๐ฅ The summary describes this story as "sexy arson," and I can't help but fervently agree. There's a whole lot of fire, a whole lot of angst, and you'll be wanting more the whole time.
4. My Boyfriend by @acnelli [Harry/Ron, 7.3k, E] ๐ผ ๐ This story will break your heart and put it back together again. If you weren't a Rarry shipper before reading this, you will be after because it is just that gorgeously written.
5. The Things We Do in the Daylight by chewysugar [Hermione/Harry/Ron, 1.5k, M] ๐ผ ๐ค A super sweet morning-after story. I just love how loving the Golden Trio are with each other, how awkward yet so right they are together.
6. And If I Had To Choose by flipflop_diva [Hermione/Pansy, 3.7k, M] ๐ผ ๐ A Pansmione soulmate fic from the very recent @femmefest 2022. This fic is so cute and the interactions between Pansy and Hermione are so in character. It was a delight from start to finish.
7. Shades of Dawn by @corvuscrowned [Lavender/Ginny, 2.6k, E] ๐ ๐ฅ The day I stop rec'ing this fic is the day the world ends because I will NEVER stop sharing this beautiful, amazing, heart-wrenching fic. The conflict and the longing between Lavender and Ginny get me every time I read this. It is absolutely perfect.
8. Elemental by @solar-settings [Katie/Alicia, Katie/Leanne, Katie/Ginny, Katie/Cho, 1.7k, T] ๐ ๐ซ Honestly, this is one of my favorite fics of all time. Katie is so beautifully written, and the way she experiences love at different points in her life is simply stunning.
9. keeping count (losing count) by @oliverwvvd [Marcus/Oliver, 1.2k, T] ๐ผ ๐ Flintwood has been gradually creeping up into my top ships, and this fic is one of the reasons why. Marcus's anxiety and Oliver's tenderness. Sides of these scared boys that we rarely get to see. So short, yet so memorable.
10. Mourning Myrtle by Contrarian_Hedgehog [Moaning Myrtle, 1.7k, T] ๐ ๐ง A haunting, dark comedy about Myrtle following her death. The prose is beautiful, and the story is even better. It was instantly one of my favorite gen fics as soon as I read it.
11. Brighten the Dark by @skeptiquewrites [Regulus/Harry, 3.3k, E] ๐ ๐ฅ A young Regulus resurrected from the veil and post-war Harry stuck at Grimmauld Place together? Yes, please. The banter and back and forth between them is glorious. As is the dash of feels and underlying tension of why did Regulus come back but no one else?
12. Take Heed, Dear Heart by @danni-the-puff [Harry/Severus, 3.6k, M] ๐ ๐ Genderswapped Snarry! It's dark, it's creepy, and yet, the absolute devotion they have for each other kept me glued to every word. The way every character is written and the story is woven through canon (but not quite canon) is masterful.
13. Height Difference by @thistlecatfics [Sirius/Remus, 437, G] ๐ผ ๐ This story is pure ridiculousness, and I am in love with it. Remus is tall, like very tall, like very very very tall. We all need a tall Remus in our life XD
14. Lit Match by @phantomato [Alecto/Lily, 1.9k, E] ๐ ๐ฅ The first and only fic I've read with this pairing that instantly converted me. Lily's character is so rich and a little morally ambiguous. Canon compliant, and yes, I could see this as canon because it's so good.
15. turning point by @duplicitywrites [Tom/Voldemort, 8.7k, E] ๐ฅ ๐ A self-cest PWP Tom Riddle fic that is... I don't even have words for how hot and intriguing this fic is. Because we all know that Tom Riddle could only love himself ;)
BONUS FIC (>10k): Miraculous by @liladiurne [Harry/Severus, 15.5k, E] ๐ผ ๐ฅ I'm a sucker for escort fics, and this one is fluffy while also being sooo hot. I love this Snape, insecure, cynical, rich. He has the perfect life but still doesn't have what he truly wants โ Harry.

The ritual comforts the part of me that's convinced Narcissa will be lost, drowned in the darkness that Voldemort's drawing down upon us, if there's no light to guide her through.

๐ฅ Date Night Interrupted [Pansy/OC, G, Digital] by @a-loveunlaced ๐ฅ Gorgeous. Stunning. Badass women. Pansy in a corset OHMYGOD.
Pansy and Althea's date night is inconveniently interrupted by a murder. How very rude.
๐ฅ Duel Between Witches [Vina, G, Digital] by @eveneechan ๐ฅ I didn't know this ship existed, but now I am fully converted. The anger and tension between Tina Goldstein and Vinda Rosier is SPECTACULAR in this anime-style drawing.

Knocking on wood three times is said to bring good fortune; but three knocks on your window or door without a clear cause is an omen of death. In this case, it's a little of both. (In which Tonks gets suspended from field duty, and takes matters into her own hands.)
๐ฅ Crown Enterprises [Cissamione, E, 2.8k] by @storyof-eden ๐ฅ God, this story will forever live in my head rent-free. Assassin Hermione and Mob Boss Narcissa are the new loves of my life.
Hermione was the best, and everyone knew Narcissa employed only the best at Crown Enterprises.
๐ฅ here we are (a pyrrhic victory) [Susma, T, 1.3k] by @elasticella ๐ฅ A fascinating premise with intriguing characters. Susan and Padma make such a great pairing in this story.
Itโs in the family name, theyโve never been a stranger to death.
๐ฅ Plenitude [Amelione, M, 1.6k] by eldritcher ๐ฅ An aching story from one of my favorite authors. Beautiful prose and an unexpected rair pair. Amelia Bones is contrasted nicely against Hermione in this thought-provoking story.
Hers soon an hour of plenitude.
๐ฅ A Dish Best Served [Rosender, E, 1.3k] by katmarajade ๐ฅ A hot and steamy revenge fic involving Rose Weasley and a still married Lavender.
Mumโs forgiven your bastard of a father for having an affair with thatย floozyย and humiliating her, humiliating all of you. Youโve not forgotten though. And itโs time he learned how it feels.
๐ฅ Till Death Do Us Part (I know That You Are Mine) [fem!Tomarry, E, 4.2k] by ArtsyDeath ๐ฅ HOT and possessive. I am just as obsessed with this fic as Tom is with Harry.
Harry is a reluctant Master of Death, travelling from one reality to the next - unable to die. A chance meeting brings her upon a new curiosity, an odd twist of fate that ties her together with a Tom Riddle very different from her own. Or: Harry is lonely and Tom is... Tom.

๐ฅ Mechanics of Emotion [Padmione, E, 47.1k, Digital] by @kiertorata, @tonftyhw, @ravenclawkward-art ๐ฅ Detective Padma in an intriguing case fic with a complicated Hermione. This fic will grab you by the throat and have you begging for more.
Padmaโs life is in a rough place. She owns a failing private investigative business and carries a rather heavy load of self-loathing to top it off. In walks Marjory Macmillan offering a well-paid case and the golden ticket to better times.

Getting to know Minerva McGonagall takes a lot of patience, even with her shade of green dark on your shoulder, even though you're sure that the matching green stains her fingertips and the palm of her hand... You wait, and you wait, and eventually, eventually, she comes around.
๐ Luck of the Draw [Petcissa, T, 10.1k] by @madetofly ๐ A fascinating take on soulmates. Petunia as a Muggle in the magical world and bonded to Narcissa is wonderfully done in this story.
After Severus Snape revealed that Lily was a witch, Petunia wasn't surprised... What she wasn't expecting was to get an invitation to Hogwarts herself. No, she's not a witch like her sister. She's something else: a soulmate. She doesn't understand exactly what that means until she gets there.
๐ Falling and Flying [Kalicia, G, 2.5k] by JoRaskoph ๐ I adore this soulmates AU. The ending is a twist, and yet not a twist at all. I love the idea that you can hear your soulmate's thoughts!
Alicia Spinnet has a lot to deal with, even before she develops a crush on Katie Bell, who most definitely isn't her soulmate.
๐ you are my symphony [Susanne, T, 2.7k] by Someone_aka_Me ๐ The imagery and concise prose makes this story a breeze to read!
Susan has a symphony growing on her ribs every time she talks to Daphne, but there's also a war to deal with.
๐ And If I Had To Choose [Pansmione, M, 3.7k] by flipflop_diva ๐ Enemies to friends to lovers with forced proximity and bits of humor sprinkled in. A great build in only 3k words.
In a world where soulmates are discovered via a type of internal explosion, Hermione is bound and determined to have nothing to do with hers for as long as she possibly can.
๐ cor aut mors [Linny, T, 3.0k] by @darkmagicalgirlwrites ๐ This story gutted me while also making me smile. It weaves through canon events so smoothly and with so much emotion.

It's been five years since Ginny finished Hogwarts, four since Luna left, and she's not really achieved anything except breaking Harry's heart. Now Luna's back maybe she'll finally fix some things that went wrong.

That one where Fleur joins in the Order, falls arse over teakettle in love with Tonks, becomes bffs with Sirius Black, and accidentally gets Tonks pregnant, all while banterously fighting the good fight against Big V.

Untagged Fest 2022 Favs!
I'm a little late to the party, but I wanted to make a list of some of my fav fics from Untagged Fest 2022 run by the HPFC server. All of the stories were originally published without tags, so it was a WILD ride reading them the first time. You never knew what you were going to get! It was such fun fest to be a part of, and I'm super excited to share my fic as well :D

๐ The measure of monsters and their men by @bluesundaycake [Remus/Severus, M, 4.6k] ๐ One of my ABSOLUTE FAVS. The atmosphere, the Victorian Era grime. Such a great detective story featuring Snupin and monsters roaming the streets.
What makes a monster, and what makes a man?
๐ Where You Belong by @bluestringpudding [Severus Snape, T, 6.1k] ๐ Creepy, disturbing, may give you nightmares. Would I read it again? HELL YES. In this fic, Severus Snape sees and, yet, doesn't see.
When Severus sees the Marauders acting even more suspiciously than normal, he decides to keep an eye, and a note of what they are up to. But some things are better left unseen.
๐ Reset to Default by @mugsdontlie [Antonin/Thorfinn, NR, 6.3k] ๐ The pairing I never knew I needed and now I'm OBSESSED with. Bad boy Rowle is my new aesthetic, as is pining Dolohov.
Hermione obliviates them, then what happens?
๐ Where the Wild Thyme Grows by Lunatik_Pandora [Sirius Black, M, 7k] ๐ Detailed world-building, The Witcher vibes, fantastical setting. I'm waiting praying for a sequel!

Or, perhaps sheโs just as evil as before โ she looks at him with the same glare, wonโt stop insulting his dancing, and doesnโt even apologize when she treads on him with her stiletto โ but itโs more that he doesnโt mind. Suddenly sheโs less vicious snake, more lightly homicidal kitten. Practically cute.
