The Good Omens Musical Masterpost🎵❤
How it started :)
Some time before 2013: Vicki Larnach, the australian composer and lyricist, read the Good Omens book, imagined figures dancing on stage with brilliant music and thought, ‘Ah, I’m gonna ask Terry Pratchet and Neil Gaiman if I can turn it into a musical.’ and sent an email to the publishers. The next day she got an email saying, ‘We don’t want a musical but Terry’s coming to Australia, so come and say hello and tell us what you got.’
Rob Wilkins came down to meet Vicki and Jim Hare - Vicki's husband and writer - and took them to meet Terry. They spent an hour and a half with them where Terry asked ‘piercing questions’, had tea with them and they showed Terry a song that Vicki wrote (about the Chattering Nuns). Terry said to Rob, ‘Rob, write and email to Neil, “Dear Neil, this is Terry. I’m sitting in front of two hippies from Sydney and they want to make a musical out of Good Omens and I’m tempted to let them do it.”’ which was the best email they ever heard and then Terry said, ‘Okay, you have me curious.’ - it was because of the Nuns song which sounded like the book. ‘I’m gonna give you six months, come back with a first draft libretto and five songs.’
They then sent it to Terry who sent it to Neil. Terry said, ‘I really like it, you’re moving story, you’re doing all the right things, but where’s showstopper, where’s the toe-tapper, you know I need people to go to intermission just snapping their fingers with the song they just can’t get out of their head, and I haven’t heard that.’ - and they realized that they were so busy serving the story they forgot to do the wow-factor, but found it very encouraging from Terry that he wanted to make it better.
They went through the whole book again to find a centrepiece - and they found it  when Warlock is growing up and Aziraphale and Crowley are with him, and spent months working just on that one thing and called ‘All Living Things’ [the song at the start of this post :)] which is a line from the book.*’ Terry gave that song to a person he knew and asked him to play it to his wife with no context and when the next day the person said that his wife woke up still singing the song Terry said to Vicki and Jim: ‘Well, that’s what I asked you to do.’
* [“This here’s Brother Slug,” the gardener would tell him, “and this tiny little critter is Sister Potato Weevil. Remember, Warlock, as you walk your way through the highways and byways of life’s rich and fulsome path, to have love and reverence for all living things.” “Nanny says that wivving fings is fit onwy to be gwound under my heels, Mr. Fwancis,” said little Warlock, stroking Brother Slug, and then wiping his hand conscientiously on his Kermit the Frog overall.]
Vicki and Jim got the permission to being adapting it as a musical in 2013.
Vicki and Jim on it a couple of years ‘fumbling about’, took it as far as they could and decided to bring another person into it: Jay-James Moody
In 2015, Jay James-Moody joined the collaboration initially as a dramaturge and directorial eye, eventually evolving into co-book writer. Vicki, James and Jay have continued to evolve through countless more revisions and a number of private development readings with the support, time and talent of numerous wonderful Australian performers testing the material.
In November 2017, the musical was presented in its then-current form and entirety for the first time before an audience of over 500 eager attendees. The cast included Luke Joslin, Lachlan O’Brien, Nancye Hayes, Barry Quin, Brett O’Neill, Lauren McKenna, Nicholas Craddock, Paul Capsis, Rob Johnson, Amy Lehpamer, Debora Krizak, Blake Erickson, Nat Jobe, Ana Maria Belo, Jordan Hare, Bella Thomas, Anthony Abrakmanov and Samson Hyland.
Following a rapturous response to this reading it continued to be refined and developed.
In 2019, ten days before the show came out they did their last presentation, since then they’ve been to London and shown a videotape of that workshop to Neil and Rob which was ‘a pretty heartstopping experience’ but both Neil and Rob were ‘so lovely and very generous with their time’ and they were showing it to them and in the intermission Neil said ‘I wish Terry could have seen this.’ (see here :))
Tumblr media
Differences between the musical and the book
The ending of the musical is a bit different, they were worried about it but Neil said, ‘I totally understand, the ending of the TV series is different, because I had something that was book-shaped and I needed to make it TV-shaped. And you had something that was book-shaped and you needed to make it stage-shaped.’
It opens with the burning of Agnes Nutter and Aziraphale and Crowley are introduced there.
Act One ends with them ‘essentially breaking up’ because of a huge argument and they dissolve their friendship, Act Two starts with the first time they meet.
The Future?
What is the future for the musical: in 2021 they said that they need to work on some things and then they hope to do another run, initially in Australia.
There will be a CD of the soundtrack available when the show is produced in it’s full version.

PJO TV SHOW Reaction Episode 4
Alright, time to see how he went from the Arch to the River (As a midwesterner, that always bugged me). As always, at least slight spoilers for potentially future seasons
But first, flashbacks! Baby Percy is scared to swim and that is frankly adorable
This wholesome flashback is now interrupted by a terrifying nightmare
Thalia discussion!!!
Ah Lil Annabeth has a cute sleeping cap
Thalia and Luke! and Little Annabeth! I hope we can see that flashback
Where is grover in their sleeping area?
Ah more Godly Criticism about their shitty ass parenting. And shitty mortal parenting from Frederick and Stepmom
Oh there's Grover. Cute Lil grouchy sleepy Grover
Sorry, these kids are adorable and I am not ready for the horrors they are about to face
Oh sweeties, never try and figure out a prophecy. You'll just get a headache
Centaurs!!! And pollution :( Pan mention!!!
Oh good, Annabeth is speaking truth about the prophecies.
What is up with their cabin?
Oh Annabeth...
Percy, trust me, you don't want to meet the werewolves
Oh! Echidna! So she trashed their room for the bolt? Makes more sense than Zeus sending her to kill Percy and preventing them from getting the bolt tbh
Echidna, you are being very creepy, and cant Grover smell her? Oh but he did figure out the smashed window, good for him
I'm sorry. But cute little Percy is not very intimidating. Don't worry, you'll get there eventually
"This has always been a family story" Yeah i guess that's true. I love this conversation of Monsters and Demigods
Ok nevermind she does want to kill them. Was she sent by Zeus tho?
And Percy got stabbed. That's not good
I love a good ole creepy train scene
Oh, we are making the Arch an Athenian temple? That's pretty cool actually... I think? If we ignore the whole racist/entitled Manifest Destiny aspect of what the arch represents and how it led to the genocide of Native Americans, destruction of nature, and the near eradication of wild buffalo and wolves....
(I just like the idea that monuments are secret temples. I wonder if Hoover Dam is one too. That could actually lead to a whole debate/discussion/headcanons. Is it just Greek? What about the Washington Monument as an Egyptian symbol? What about Leif Erickson in Canada? What about Museums? Is the Statue of Liberty a temple for Libertas?)
Well, at least Annabeth and Grover briefly discussed it the aspect of what it is and the architectural significance vs the historical significance
The poison!
Just uh...casually bath him in the fountain. I don't think the Mist can help much with that
Honestly, if their best plan is to pray to the Gods for help they are kind of fucked and very desperate
Oh wait, they think Athena sent Echidna? Or at least won't help them
Eh, kinda tracks with how horrible the Gods are to Demigods
Ooh, Annabeth vs Chimera? Brave girl but Percy is too loyal for that shit. And Reckless
Go Percy go!
Oh! So the River is just going to grab him. That works. I guess
Honestly if I was the Mississippi River God I would be pretty damn pissed at mortals, that poor river has been through A Lot. I wonder how it worked when the gods came over, was it kinda like when they went to rome and integrated the local gods? Because the Indigenous Tribes already had gods and what not, especially for nature, or is it more like the distinction between Greek/Egyptian/Norse?
Anyways, pretty good episode, the pacing seems a bit weird, but I liked it overall.

Tv show headcanons
Reggie was a chandler/Phoebe and Monica/Joey fan. He also disliked Rachel because he liked Ross a lot and felt he deserved better after his wife cheated on him
Alex’s first crush was on Woody Boyd. Then he watched hunger games and now you see me and the crush began anew
Luke often wished Dorothy Zbornak was his grandmother. He just thought she’d be fun to hang out with. He cried for a week when he found out Bea Arthur died.
Trevor’s comfort show in the aftermath of the hotdogs was fresh prince of bel air. He burst into tears when Will Smith presented his first Grammy win
Julies first fictional crush was on Ron Stoppable. She does not like Shego. The woman’s too mean for Julie to like her.
Flynn might be channeling her hatred of Libby Kessler onto Carrie. It’s easier to hate a typical mean girl then resent a former friend
Carlos had a circus phase growing up. He used to watch reruns of Jojo’s Circus until the disc became damaged. Rose even gave him a stuffed lion he named Goliath. He talks to it when he misses his mom
Willie loved bewitched. He used to like Endora. But now that Caleb owns his soul he’s kinda gone off her and started appreciating Darrin more because of the grief the man is put through
Nick loved how I met your mother. He sees Marshall Erickson as a role model. He wasn’t rosey at the finale unlike everyone else cause he knows firsthand that sometimes life just doesn’t work out how you’d imagined it would.
Whenever he misses his wife, and it’s too late to go to the garage, Ray watches I Love lucy reruns
Rose loved ER. Mostly because of John Carter. Her and Ray actually bonded over the show on their first date
Victoria loves The Dick Van Dyke Show. She finds the situations ridiculous even though they actually happened. But Sally Rogers was her role model growing up.
When Carrie turned fifteen she started watching the Big Bang theory when her dad went to bed early to see what the fuss was about. She finds it trite. But she likes Leonard
Caleb died about twenty odd years before tv became a thing. But he definitely likes Milton Berle and Joe Burns.

A Spark in Search of a Powderkeg
Rebellion is its own justification, completely independent of the chance it has to modify the state of affairs that gives rise to it. It’s a spark in the wind, but a spark in search of a powder keg.
André Breton
If only one thing has brought me joy in the last few weeks, it began when the matriarchs at Unist’ot’en burned the Canadian flag and declared reconciliation is dead. Like wildfire, it swept through the hearts of youth across the territories. Reconciliation was a distraction, a way for them to dangle a carrot in front of us and trick us into behaving. Do we not have a right to the land stolen from our ancestors? It’s time to shut everything the fuck down!
Tawinikay (aka Southern Wind Woman)
The toxic cargo carried in Canadian pipelines, whether it be tar sands oil or fracked liquid natural gas (LNG), is, according to all serious climate scientists, a major, perhaps even decisive contribution to global warming, i.e. ecological catastrophe.   Meant to fuel industrial expansion, the pipelines have themselves become fuel for revolt. Designed to move these dirty fossil fuels from one location to another, they are a crucial element in normalizing the dubious paradise of unlimited growth in awe of which all obedient consumer/citizens are supposed to genuflect. In what the colonial mapmakers have called British Columbia (BC), resource extraction has always been the name of the game. However, the emergence in February of this year of a widespread oppositional network ranging from “land back” Indigenous warriors to elder traditionalists and from Extinction Rebellion activists to anarchist insurrectionaries was heartening. Railways, highways and ferries were blockaded, provincial legislatures, government administrative offices, banks and corporate headquarters were occupied. The catalyst for this rebellion was a widespread Indigenous uprising that refused the illusory promises of reconciliation. Together, these rebel forces disrupted business as usual in solidarity with the Unist’ot’en Big Frog clan of the Wet’suwet’en tribal house.
As objective chance would have it, the primary Indigenous land defense camp is situated not far from the same Hazelton, B.C. area to which surrealist Kurt Seligmann and his wife Arlette had journeyed in 1938. During that time, they visited Gitxsan and Wet’suwet’en villages, marveled at the imaginative power of the totem poles and ceremonial objects, made field notes, shot 16mm film, collected stories and recorded mythic histories. Now, in 2020, growing numbers of these same Indigenous peoples have been threatening to bring the Canadian economy to a grinding halt. Unwilling to be bought off by corporate petrodollars or mollified by a legal system that has never done anything but pacify, brutalize, or betray them in the process of stealing their land, Indigenous peoples passionately fought back against the forces of colonial law and order in a radical whirlwind of willful disobedience and social disruption. One action built upon another in creating a rolling momentum that seemed unstoppable. When one railroad blockade would be busted by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), another would spring up in its place elsewhere extending the frontlines of the battle all across the continent. Then the debilitating Covid-19 virus arrived to compound the damage that had previously been done to the capitalist economy by the incendiary virus of revolt. The resistance of these Indigenous communities against the pipelines concerns all of us, worldwide, since they are on the front lines of the struggle to prevent cataclysmic climate change.
In the future, a key question will be whether Canadian authorities can successfully put the genie of Indigenous rebellion back in the colonial bottle of “reconciliation”. As surrealists, we hope they will not, and we stand in solidarity with the unreconciled insurgent spirit of defiant Indigenous resistance. A new reality is to be invented and lived instead of the one that today as yesterday imposes its environmental miserabilism and its colonialist and racist hierarchies.  As surrealists, we honor our historical affinity with the Kwakwaka’wakw Peace Dance headdress that for so long had occupied a place of reverence in André Breton’s study during his lifetime before being ceremoniously returned in 2003 to Alert Bay on Cormorant Island by his daughter, Aube Elléouet, in keeping with her father’s wishes. With this former correspondence in mind, we presently assert that our ongoing desire to manifest the emancipation of the human community as distinctively undertaken in the surrealist domain of intervention is in perfect harmony with the fight of the Indigenous communities of the Americas against globalized Western Civilisation and its ecocidal folly.

Postscript: During the process of gathering signatures for the above declaration, we were inspired to see its uncompromising stance against white supremacy and police repression reflected in the brightly sparkling flames of the Minneapolis uprising that lit a powder keg of pent-up rage and incited an earth-shaking eruption of spontaneous rebellion in the streets of America. It was only fitting that in solidarity with the uprising about police brutality kicked off by George Floyd’s execution/lynching at the hands of the police, anti-racism protestors in the United States would take direct action by beheading or bringing down statues of Christopher Columbus, genocidal symbol of the colonial expropriation of Native American lands. (Guy Girard, Michael Löwy, Penelope Rosemont, and Ron Sakolsky, June 18, 2020).

So how do you feel about the theory that Luke is still alive (since seeing a body is determinate) and he’s one of the survivors the Erickson kids see at the end of the finale? And by theory I mean my comfort thought because I’ve never brought this up before lmao #LukeSurvived
I’m gonna be honest and say that I definitely don’t think Luke is alive lol.
He was already injured to begin with then wasted all of his stamina trying to help Clem break free. Then after he gets dragged down by the walker it looks like he also opens his mouth as well. I can’t see him surviving that situation.
Plus you can also choose to not crack open the ice in the alternative scenario meaning that both Luke and Bonnie can’t escape (and we would have seen them emerge from the hole Luke created if they escaped from that area).
I don’t really buy into the theory personally, but I see nothing wrong with believing it if it’s a comfort thought haha. It’s interesting to see how other people interpret the fates of the characters though :) thank you for sharing your theory
