You were tiny compared to everyone else, you had been since high school where you would always be constantly teased. The one highlight though was having a somewhat protector, a boy older than you by the name of Luke Danes would always stand up for you and fight those who’d make you cry. The sad part was catching feelings for him and knowing he’d never return them.
So, a few years later. All grown up (but still ridiculously small), you head towards the diner. The only way to start your day was with one of Luke’s coffees, you just didn’t know how different the day would end. The little bell went off, signalling that you had entered, causing Luke to look in your direction. His eyes brush over you before turning back to a customer, until his head whips around and he glares at your shirt. You give him a soft smile before practically skipping over to one of the free stools, pouting slightly as it feels as though you must climb it just to sit on it.
After Luke is done with the customer, he storms over and behind the counter before leaning over, his face nearly touching yours as he growls and glares. “What do you think you’re doing walking out in public wearing a shirt like that?!”
You frown, not understanding what he’s talking about until you look down and realise the shirt you had thrown on. There you sit, wearing a small denim skirt and a tight pink shirt that reads ‘I bet she bangs like a fairy on acid.’ You look back up at Luke and pout, “I didn’t mean to… This was the only clean shirt I could find, a–and…” You huff, wondering why you felt the need to explain yourself to him, you were a grown woman but the way he towered over you caused all your brain cells to fly out the window. Your arms cross over your chest, “I don’t need to explain myself to you. You aren’t my father!”
Luke rolls his eyes before walking around the counter and practically lifting you from your seat, his beefy tanned arms bulging slightly as he carries you past the curtain and up the stairs to his apartment. “No, I’m not your father, but I’m sure as hell not going to let you walk around dressed like a slut.” You gape at him, wondering why you could feel yourself clench around nothing, tingles set aflame on your puffy clit. He places you down gently after you both enter his place, before walking over to his closet and pulling out one of his flannel shirts. “You are going to put this on, and I don’t want to hear a peep from you about it, understood?” His glare causes your thighs to squeeze together, and you know he’s noticed it.
You squeak as you back into the door, Luke slowly making his way over to you. Each step, each thud his footsteps make cause your pussy to clench, slick gathering between your thighs. He looks like a predator, and you are his prey. “Are you seriously getting turned on by this?” You let out a whimper, lashes batting up at him as he towers over you again. His hand grips your jaw gently, making sure all your attention is on him and unknowingly causing your knees to buckle. “I knew you were a little slut ever since I stood up for you. You couldn’t hide the way you felt.” He leans closer. “You want to know how I know?”
You whine, nodding and looking up at him with hooded eyes. “Because I walked in on you during the game, you thought everyone was too busy watching, but I had taken a short break. Imagine my surprise when I hear your soft little whimpers, and an even bigger one. You kept calling out my name, while you gripped one of my shirts and humped your pretty little hand.” You gasp when you feel him pressed himself against you, your eyes widening when you imagine how you are possibly supposed to take him. You squeal when you are suddenly lifted from the ground, flung like a ragdoll onto the bed, too dazed to notice him crawling on top of you.
“Are you going to be a good little girl for me?” His bulge rubs against you while his hand moves up to grip your chin. You blink, his words sound as though they are underwater because all you can focus on is the tingles running throughout your body and how pretty his eyes look. You feel yourself clench as he slaps your cheek softly, repeating himself causing you to nod. A dumb look accompanying your face.
Everything moves so fast, or it could’ve happened slow… You didn’t know, everything felt good and fuzzy. One second you had clothes on and the next you were completely naked in front of your crush, your mind was exploding. Luke groans, gripping the base of his cock and rubbing the tip through your folds. “You’re so wet already, baby. You think you can take me?” You nod, need erupts throughout your body as your dream is finally coming true.
“P–please, Luke.” You whine, wiggling your hips as you try and press yourself closer to him. Your walls becoming slicker at the sheer size you feel against you. “I’ll be good!” Your eyes roll into the back of your head, back arching off the bed as Luke slowly pushes in. Groans fall from his lips as he thrusts through your tight hole, your walls gripping him and pulling him deeper.
“Holy fuck…” His eyes rest upon your stomach, noticing how your stomach bulges from how deep he is. “You’re doing so good, baby. You’re such a good girl.” His hands grip your hips as he begins to thrust hard and fast, splitting you open and fucking you dumb. “My good girl. So good you’ll wobble back down to the diner with my cum dripping down your legs.” He growls, lying flat against you as his hips frantically move.
“U–uhhh, mmm.” You try to speak but can’t. Your mind feels a thousand miles away and the only thing you can think about is how good Luke feels thrusting in and out of you. You can feel the veins on his cock throb with each movement, his thick tip pounding into your sweet spot. Your hands fly up and grip onto him, burying your face into his neck as you feel your orgasm approaching embarrassingly fast.
“You going to cum, little baby?” His thick voice rumbles throughout your body, sending shivers directly to your core causing you to clench around him. “Fuck. Be a good girl and cum for me.” Your eyes disappear as he fucks into you, causing your orgasm to rip out of you, covering him. Luke groans, his head rolling back as his cock throbs and twitches, balls tightening before he releases deep inside of you, thick ropes of cum covering your tiny walls until he softens. He moves slowly, making sure not to harm you as he pulls out and receives a cloth that he uses to clean you with. “You, okay?”
You hum, eyes slipping closed as your body tingles. Luke smiles as he watches you before lying next to you. Screw the diner, Caesar can take care of it for now.

jess mariano—it hurts to say, but i want you to stay.
summary: the breaks are the best parts of studying.
word count: 1.4k
fanfiction no. 004
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
the principal of stars hollow high approached you one unsuspecting morning, asking you to follow him to his office for he had an important question to ask you. sure you were not in trouble, you followed him with eager curiosity, despite the worried looks on your friends' faces—they always worried for nothing.
"you know jess mariano, correct? asked your principal as he sat in his office chair and gestured for you to take a seat opposite him.
"yes?"
"I'm sure you've noticed jess has been skipping classes," he waited for you to acknowledge this, and only continued when you nodded vigorously in response. "in order for him to graduate this year, he needs to improve his grades."
he stopped there, waiting for another response, but this time it seemed he desired for it to be verbal.
"okay," you replied with a hint of confusion.
"it is perhaps...unconventional for me to propose this of another student," he prefaced, "but i would be remiss if i didn’t ask—would you be willing to tutor mr. mariano? now, of course," he continued before you could interject, "there would be benefits for you. extra credit."
extra credit? you knew yourself well enough to know you would have accepted this offer with or without these proposed benefits, but to save your silly little heart, you pretended to think over the offer and ask a question or two about the details.
。+゚☆゚+。★。+゚☆゚+。★。+゚☆゚+。★。+゚☆゚+。
jess trudged down the steps to the diner, peeking out from behind the curtain to see where y/n was sitting. scanning the room, he found them at a table close to the window, not far from the door, their nose buried in a textbook the size of his torso and thicker than drywall. he fiddled with the cd in his hand before finally shoving it down his back pocket and walking out into the nearly empty diner.
"hey," he announced himself.
you looked up from your history text book and turned to the voice's origin. jess mariano looked at you with a lopsided smirk while he pulled out a chair, turned it around, and rested his elbows on the back of it as he sat down.
"hey," you glanced at your watch, "you're right on time, i half expected you to at least be late."
jess shrugged, "i don't want to waste your time."
"that's considerate of you," you thanked him, "are you ready to get started?"
"on the reunification of italy during the eighteenth century? not really," he sucked in a breath through his teeth.
"well, when i don't want to study, i schedule out my breaks so i'm not working for too long at a time and i have something to look forward to," you suggested, "why don't we do that before we start?"
"okay," he nodded, "what do you do on your breaks?"
"anything. listen to music, get a snack, take a walk, read."
jess took this in and decided he knew exactly what he'd like to do for his first break. in fact, he was looking forward to it so much already, he found himself less inclined to do the work than he was before. but he settled himself down, looked over to you and your encouraging smile, and asked for a pen.
the next forty-five minutes clung to the clock's hands, dripping away slowly like honey from a spoon. jess's leg was bouncing impatiently, he tapped his pen against his notebook rhythmically until you told him to focus and stop distracting both himself and you.
"so, what was garibaldi's significance to reunification?" you asked jess, eyeing his notes and wondering whether he'd written down anything of importance, or just scribbled something down when he thought he was supposed to.
"it doesn't matter, because it's break time," he smiled mischievously.
you looked at the clock on the wall, and though he was right, you were eager to learn whether he had been paying attention, or whether your time had been somewhat ill-spent, for it was not all ill-spent if it was time spent with jess.
"can't you answer the question before we start the break?" you asked almost pleadingly.
"nah."
you looked at him with disbelief as he stood from his chair and headed over to the stairs that led to his shared apartment with luke. shaking your head, you went back to your own studying as he walked away, writing away almost immediately, which took jess by surprise when he turned around.
"aren't you coming?" he asked, forcing your attention away from work and over towards him.
"oh, sure," you replied awkwardly, rushing to catch up with him.
you'd never been in jess' apartment before, well, luke's apartment. but since jess was living there, it was much as you had expected—messy. clothes were strewn across the floor and bed, boxes lined every surface and every wall, music albums were scattered around his cd player, and there must have been at least a few dozen books littered across the entire space.
"it's very you," you broke the silence.
"uh, thanks. i got this new album today," he informed you, flashing the cover too fast for you to read the band's name. "they're called 'the strokes'."
you hadn't heard of them, but kept an open mind as jess put the cd on and skipped past some of the tracks until it landed on an upbeat song with light drums and a catchy guitar riff. immediately, jess began bobbing his head to the beat, subconsciously biting his lip as he watched the cd spin. he waited a moment before he turned to gauge your reaction.
it was hard not to move to the beat in some way, it was one of those songs. the man singing through the speaker had a unique voice that both you and jess seemed to enjoy.
"you like it?" he asked.
"yeah," you laughed, "i think it's awesome. can i see?" you pointed to the cd case.
jess raised his eyebrows, offering it to you. daring to walk across the room and further into his apartment, you took the cd from his hand, acutely aware of the way your fingers brushed over his, and turned it over to see the track list.
"we're listening to track five," he said.
"'someday'" you read the title aloud.
"yeah, my other favourite is 'last nite'" he added, noticing the first song was fading.
"put it on, i wanna hear," you demanded gently.
jess didn't get flustered, but if he did, he kew this would be one of those times where he'd be tripping over his own feet and fumbling with the buttons on his cd player. instead, he was collected as he changed it to track seven and tapped his foot to the beat.
"i think i’ll have to get myself this cd," you smiled excitedly, tapping the plastic case against your palm.
jess didn't say anything at all, he just watched you put the cd back on his dresser and stare at the music spinning in his player, your eyes going bright when the instrumental part sounded through the upstairs apartment, your head gently nodding to the beat. he thought you were perfect. and when the principal dragged him into his office to express the idea he had for him, he was sure he'd decline swiftly, certain anything he had to suggest would be stupid and not worthy of his time. but he had never been so wrong. he knew the moment he heard your name in that odious man's office that his life would become infinitely better seeing you twice a week in luke's diner.
but here you were, in his apartment, validating his music taste and enjoying it almost as much as him, being the most wonderful person he had ever known or read about. if he were a poet, he would create poems for the ages, poems that would one day be discussed in dingy classrooms, analysed to the heavens, and they would wonder who the person was that had him so enraptured beyond anything or anyone else. he would make the whole world desperate to get to know you.
you felt his staring, his unwavering gaze upon you. could you bare to look at him?
"this one's called 'hard to explain', i like this one too," jess whispered as the next song came on, and you found yourself involuntarily turning to look at him as he spoke—he was closer than before.
"yeah?"
"yeah," he breathed against your lips, rushing into a quick kiss before he could talk himself out of it.
you reciprocated his advances rather quickly, and once he felt this, the kiss became slower and more purposeful. his hands reached for your waist, trailing up your back to grip your hair.
"i- um, i don't usually do this on my breaks," you laughed breathily, "just in case you thought this was just something i got up to."
jess sniggered, "is it something you want to get up to more often?" he asked, quirking an eyebrow.
"only if it's with you," you confessed, cheeks heating from the bold confession.
"i only like to share music and literature," he winked, leaning back in.

a change in attitude (Jess Mariano)
A/n: im trying something new?!?! in honor of gilmore season :) and my 3rd fave gilmore boy (first is dave then tristain)
The bell above the door of Luke's Diner jingled, announcing the arrival of another customer. Jess Mariano, clad in his usual leather jacket and with an air of snark about him, was in the midst of one of his classic, snarky arguments with Luke Danes. The two of them had a unique way of communicating – mostly through grunts, eye rolls, and sarcastic comments.
"You can't just change the entire menu, Luke. People come here for the same thing every day," Jess argued, leaning against the counter.
Luke shot back, his voice gruff, "I can do whatever I want with my own diner. If you don't like it, go somewhere else."
Before Jess could fire off another retort, the door opened once more, and the chime sounded again. Both men turned their attention to the newcomer, a young woman with a hesitant smile. She scanned the diner, looking for an available seat.
Jess went momentarily silent, and Luke couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at his nephew's uncharacteristic behavior.
The girl, auburn-haired and carrying a worn copy of a book, finally spotted an empty stool at the counter. She made her way over, and as she climbed onto the stool, her eyes met Jess's for a brief moment.
"Hey, Jess, take care of this customer, will ya?" Luke grumbled, slightly bewildered by his nephew's sudden change in attitude.
Jess nodded in response and moved to stand in front of the girl, a small but genuine smile on his face. "What can I get you?"
The girl blushed at the unexpected attention from the usually aloof Jess Mariano. "Um, just a coffee, please."
Jess nodded again and turned to prepare the coffee, his focus entirely on the task. Luke watched with growing curiosity as Jess meticulously brewed the coffee and placed it in front of the girl.
"Here you go, one coffee," Jess said, his tone unusually polite.
"Thanks," the girl replied, a surprised but grateful smile on her face.
Luke couldn't resist the opportunity to tease Jess. "Well, well, Jess, I've never seen you act so… courteous."
Jess shot Luke an annoyed look but didn't take the bait. Instead, he leaned in slightly closer to the girl and asked, "So, what's the book you're reading?"
The girl's eyes lit up as she held up the book for him to see. "It's 'On the Road' by Jack Kerouac. Have you read it?"
Jess nodded, genuine interest in his eyes. "Yeah, it's a classic. Kerouac's a great writer."
The girl smiled, and a conversation between them began to flow naturally. Luke observed from a distance, his confusion giving way to understanding. Jess wasn't just being courteous; he was genuinely interested in the girl.
As the girl and Jess continued to chat, Luke couldn't help but smile to himself. Maybe his nephew was growing up, and perhaps this unexpected encounter was the start of something new for Jess Mariano – a little romance amidst the usual snark and sarcasm.
Luke retreated to his counter, content to watch the interaction between Jess and the girl, knowing that sometimes, life could throw pleasant surprises when you least expected them.

just tonight - luke danes

luke danes x reader
summary: lorelai’s engagement party brings out some feelings for both you and luke
warnings: drinking, a bit of angst, suggestive content
word count: 1.8k
there must have been a thousand pink and purple flowers decorating the town square, weaved intricately around the gazebo as the twinkling light and stars lit up the night sky. it was lorelai and max’s engagement party, and so far it seemed to be a huge success, everyone in town was here enjoying the food and the music.
well, almost everyone.
as you walked around the party, you couldn’t help but notice that luke was absent. you glanced across the street and saw lights inside the small restaurant, and before you could stop yourself you felt you feet walking in that direction. you and luke were friends, but you would be lying if you said you didn’t feel something more for the man. a lot more. however it was unfortunately obvious to everyone except luke and lorelai that they had a thing for eachother. although, she was marrying someone else, so maybe it was just luke.
“hey,” you greeted as you walked through the door, and he looked up at the sound of the bell ringing.
“hey, i thought i flipped the closed sign around.”
“you did,” you smiled, sitting down across from him as he refilled ketchup bottles. “i came in anyway.”
“awesome, remind me to lock the door next time”, he teased, and you smiled.
“it’s quite the party out there. i thought i’d take a break - get away from all the lovey dovey stuff for a minute.”
“understandable,” he groaned. you knew he was happy for lorelai, but as much as it wasn’t your thing, a party that big really wasn’t luke’s scene.
“mind if i keep you company for a bit?”
“would you leave if i said i did?”
“probably not,” you replied, and he smiled, shaking his head.
“i’ll make coffee.”
“actually, since it’s after business hours, do you have any beer?” you asked, and he nodded, disappearing the the kitchen and returning with two glass bottles, placing one on the counter in front of you and keeping the other for himself.
“they look really happy,” you sighed happily, staring out the window.
“that’s good,” luke replied.
“are you okay?” you asked.
“fine,” he mumbled, wiping the counter with a towel, avoiding eye contact.
“are you sure?”
“yes, why wouldn’t i be?” he asked.
“because your best friend, who many people believe you have a thing for-“
“i do not have a thing for her,” he interrupted.
“i didn’t say you did, i said many people believe-“
“like who?” he threw the towel over his shoulder and crossed his arms, finally looking up at you. your eyes met and you gave him a sympathetic look.
“lots of people, luke,” you said softly.
“like you?” he asked, and you shrugged.
“maybe-“
“look we’re just friends! that’s it!” he insisted.
“okay! i believe you!” you raised your hands in defeat.
“good. can we talk about something else?”
“sure,” you nodded, but your mind was blank of anything to talk about as you watched him take a sip from his beer.
an hour went by, as did a few more beers each, and you and luke sat at the counter next to eachother, talking about whatever. you found it so easy to talk to luke about little things like what you did that day, how things were going at the diner, but when it came to talking about your feelings, you were about as good at it as he was.
“so i guess you’re gonna ask me to go out and enjoy the festivities?” luke asked, and you shook your head.
“i wasn’t, actually,” you disagreed, giggling happily as he shot you a glance that told you he didn’t believe you for a second.
“why not? isn’t that why you came in here?” he said, finishing up with the ketchup bottles and walking around to put them back on each table.
“maybe i just want to hang out with you,” you said honestly, and he nearly knocked over one of the ketchup bottles.
“what? why would you want to do that?”
“because i-“
the alcohol had weakened the walls you’d built around yourself, and you nearly confessed how you felt right then and there. you weren’t sure if you would have regretted it, but it didn’t matter.
before you could answer, the bell above the door sounded, and you both looked over to see the woman of the hour walk in.
“hey,” lorelai greeted, and you gave her a smile. she really did look beautiful in her dress. she looked happy.
“hey,” luke replied. “why aren’t you at your party?” he asked as she walked up the the counter.
“aww that’s funny, i was about to ask you the same thing,” she replied, and luke glanced over at you.
“i’ll see you later?” you asked him, and he nodded, his eyes going back to lorelai rather quickly, and your heart felt a little stab.
“is this seat taken?” a voice made you jump in your seat, and luke smiled down at you.
“no, all yours,” you smiled, scooting over on the bench where you’d been watching the party.
“thanks,” he sighed, his leg brushing against yours softly as he sat down.
“so lorelai managed to convince you to join the fun, huh?” you teased.
“maybe i just decided i wanted to come out here,” he argued playfully.
“please, luke,” you rolled your eyes. “you would stand in traffic if she asked you to,” you said without meaning to, and the look on his face told you that you’d gone too far.
“what does that mean?” he asked, stiffening in his seat.
“i’m sorry, but come on luke!” you pleaded. “you don’t have to lie to me, i’ve seen the way you look at her.”
“and how is that?” he demanded, and you felt your emotions bubbling over like a pot someone had forgotten on the stove.
“the same way i look at you,” you said without meaning too, and your heart pounded so hard you thought it was going to jump out of your chest and fall at your feet.
“you’re drunk,” he dismissed, staring at you in disbelief.
“no, luke,” you sighed. “well, a little - but that’s not the point. is it so hard to believe that someone might like you?” you asked.
“yes.”
“why?”
“i don’t know- i’m… me,” he said, his face scrunching up, and you giggled softly. “okay, yeah - you’re drunk. let’s get you home.”
“luke, wait,” you protested as he stood up and grabbed your hand, dragging you off the bench.
“come on,” he insisted, but you planted your feet, slowing him down until he stopped and turned towards you.
“please, luke.”
“what?” he sighed, and you grabbed his other hand so you were now holding both of them.
“i mean it,” you looked up at him, his eyes looking down into yours. “i like you, a lot.”
“remind me never to give you alcohol again-“ he joked.
“i’m serious, luke. you’re not listening to me.”
“what do you want me to say?” he asked softly.
“i don’t… i don’t know,” you admitted, your head starting to feel funny from the alcohol, or maybe from being so close to him, you weren’t sure.
“let me take you home,” he whispered, and you nodded, letting him drop your one hand to lead you down the sidewalk towards your house.
neither of you noticed the eyes on you from back at the square, lorelai smiling at the two of you as she dance with max.
“here you are, your highness,” like teased, as he escorted you through your house and to your bedroom door.
“thank you, my knight in flannel armour,” you giggled. “hey, i’m sorry about…“
“about what?” he interrupted, leaning against the doorframe.
“getting all… emotional. i know you hate that.”
“i do,” he said, but he smiled. “but i forgive you.”
“thank you,” you sighed, wrapping your arms around him in a hug. luke’s body stiffened for a second, but then he relaxed, wrapping his arms around you in return. “luke?”
“yeah?” he whispered, and you pulled back to look at him, his arms around your body still holding you close.
“would you kiss me?” you asked, and he was silent for a second.
“are you asking me if i would, or are you asking me to?”
“i’m asking you to,” you decided, and he did. he leaned forward and his lips met yours in a soft kiss, which quickly turned messy. his hands moved to your waist, and your fingers gripped the front of his shirt tightly as your teeth grazed his bottom lip.
luke’s hand held the side of your face as your hands made their way to his belt, but he stopped you.
“wait,” he muttered softly, and you stared up at him.
“you don’t …want to..?” you mumbled.
“it’s not that,“ he said, but didn’t elaborate.
“do you love her?”
“who?”
“lorelai,” you asked in a tone that implied it was obvious.
“no,” he said unconvincingly, and you raised an eyebrow. “i don’t know. we’ve always just been friends and now she’s getting married to someone else. geez you know i don’t do the whole feelings thing and you’ve had me talking about it all night,” he said with a short laugh. “it doesn’t matter.”
“it does matter.”
“not really. can we go back to talking about this?” he gestured between the two of you, hands still holding eachother close.
“okay. so you don’t want to sleep with me?” you asked nervously.
“it’s not that i don’t want to,” he sighed. “ask me when you haven’t been drinking, okay? and give me a little time to figure…” he pointed to his heart. “this thing out.” he asked, and while you were still a little disappointed, you knew you would appreciate it in the morning.
“okay,” you agreed. “thank you, luke.”
“for what?” he smiled.
“for always looking out for me,” you smiled back, and he kissed your forehead softly.
“don’t mention it. seriously any more sappy stuff tonight and i’ll lose my mind,” he said, and you laughed. “alright, let’s get you to bed.”
as if on cue, you yawned, and he pushed you towards the bed, pulling back the blanket so you could lay down, before tucking you in.
“luke?” you said, grabbing his wrist before he could walk away.
“yeah?” he asked.
“stay?” you pleaded.
he sighed softly, but kicked his boots off, muttering a soft ‘okay’ under his breath before he got into bed next to you.
“but no funny business,” he ordered, and you smiled, curling into his side.
“promise,” you agreed, before leaning over and kissing his cheek quickly. “thank you, luke,” you mumbled sleepily, resting your head on his chest. his arms wrapped around you, holding you close as you drifted off to sleep.
“anything for you.”

THOUGHTS WHILE WATCHING GILMORE GIRLS: S3/EP5/8 O Clock At The Oasis
Ah, I'm only two episodes away from the Dance Marathon. I am PUMPED! I hope Shane is living out her bucket list (or should I say Fucket List) because the clock is ticking for her. Original Air Date: October 22nd, 2002. The episode opens with a pretty unfunny comedic exchange between Lorelai and Rory as they head to Luke's. They arrive to find the diner unusually crowded.
Tumblr media
An Iconic line. Welcome back, Tomatos Sign. Sun Shine. Coffee's Fine. (A Gilmore Girls Haiku)
Tumblr media
Maybe Lorelai should have thrown some condoms at these people too. Condoms for The Hollow is my new initiave. Luke is complaining that the parent group comes in every weekend and takes up space for hours and make a mess out of his business only to order two iced teas; he is telling this to Lorelai and Rory, who take up space for hours, eat him out of house and home and never pay for their food.
Tumblr media
Says Luke Danes about a woman breastfeeding meanwhile he doesn't try to stop this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another banger of a one liner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Later, Emily calls Lorelai at work and invites her to a furniture auction. The conversation is suspiciously pleasant and Lorelai hardly even puts up a fight. She later attends the auction with Michel and has a nice time and meets Jon Hamm. But Emily Gilmore always has some kind of motive. Stay vigilant, Lorelai. Michel overhears the conversation and begs Lorelai to take him with her and she agrees. For a price.
Tumblr media
I looked up a phone number for you, Michel.
Tumblr media
Next scene, Lorelai meets a quirky, vertically challenged, talkative new neighbor who asks Lorelai to water his lawn while he's away and although her agreeance is once again reluctant, there is very little quibbling. Who is this doormat who is saying yes to everything without a fight (so basically, Rory), and what have you done with our Lorelai?
Tumblr media
No, I will not. I will continue to post Crap Commentaries to Tumblr. Com until Tumblr finally, mercifully ends up in the dustbin of internet history. Or until I finish Season 3 (maybe 4). Whichever comes first. My 73 year old mom loves loves loves loves loves LOVES Jon Hamm. She definitely loves Jon Hamm more than I love Milo. So of course I've shared this episode with her a few times.

My mom gives Jon Hamm the same googly eyes whenever he's on TV. Here's some Random-Hamm Shots I sent to my mom this morning.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Jon Hamm is a babe. Let's all give it up for my mom. She has good taste. The urge to call him "Baby Jon Hamm" when he was actually 31 years old here is strong. I mean, I still call 30 year old Milo Baby Milo. He didn't shed Baby until at he was at least 35. It's a badge of honor. These fine men age like wine. Lorelai doesn't get BabyHamm's name at the auction, so now she's on a quest to figure it out, which unfortunately for her means she'll have to put the squeeze on Emily to try and get it. Whoops. My bad. She actually asks Rory to do it for her (then gets mildly irritated when Rory actually does it). Just a quick run down of all the manipulative micro transactions going on in just the first 17 minutes of this episode: Luke ---> Lorelai: Tell that woman to stop breastfeeding in my diner Lorelai ---- > Michel: You can come to the auction if you work every weekend Lorelai ----> Rory: You have to ask Grandma to get me BabyHamm's number Dwight (new neighbor) ----> Lorelai: I know you just met me but I need you to water my lawn for the next week Dwight ----> Lorelai: While you're here watering my lawn you can water my indoor plants too Then there's the whole sprinkler business... which we'll get to in time. Lorelai swallows her pride at the next FND and inquires about Paddle #17 and we find out BabyHamm's name is Peyton Sanders. Isn't he a football player? (Peyton Manning. Bad Joke.). Emily agrees to obtain his phone number for Lorelai without anything more than some light teasing . Highly suspicious.

Dwight's house is pretty rad.

Okay okay I LOVE this kind of thing. The thing being: listing all of the board games whose names I can make out. Les go. We'll finish out the post here. Some of the games, I'd assume for copyright reasons have their names cropped short or changed. Hungry Hungry Hippos became Hungry Hungry Nippos.
Tumblr media
Candyland (two copies). Chess (three copies). Chinese Checkers. Hungry Hungry Nippos. Yahtzee (two copies). Ouija Board. Scattegories. Sorry. Chutes and Ladders. Easy Money. Clue. Hangman. Pyramid (two copies). Risk. Aggravation. Horse Around. Mastermind. Scrabble. Go For It. Times to Remember. Charades for Dummies. Monopoly. And FIVE copies of Operation.
I’m such a slut for small details, ya’ll 🤤

Left Me On Read
Pairing: Jess Mariano x F!Reader
Warnings: Snowballs, other than that, fluff!
Word Count: 813
Summary: You own Stars Hollow Books and have been trying to get home-grown writer Jess Mariano to do a signing for his new book. When you see him in town after weeks of silence, you do the only logical thing. However, logic has never been your strong suit when Jess is around.
A/N: Again, not sure how much traction Jess has on this site but I’m posting this anyway cuz it’s cute af and I just wanna live in Stars Hollow in winter!

Stars Hollow was magical in the wintertime. The town square all lit up with warm string lights, Kirk selling hot cocoa by the steps of the gazebo. It had been the same since you and your mom moved here when you were five. You couldn’t stay away, even when you’d left for college (Columbia, not that it mattered here). After college, you moved back and eventually took over the bookstore from Andrew.
You were walking home through the square when you spotted him talking to his uncle outside of Doose’s Market and you stopped in your tracks. Ever since you’d read his latest book, Stars That Fade, you’d been dying to talk to him about it face-to-face, even inviting him to do a signing at the bookshop you two had so often frequented as teenagers. You hadn’t heard back from him at all in the last six weeks since his book was released, and then he just waltzes into your town and doesn’t expect you to take your childish revenge?
Jess Mariano had another thing coming.
He’d grown up in the last few years, but then again so had you. And he had grown up good. No longer did his hair stick straight up like he’d stuck a fork in an outlet. It lay in thick, glossy layers and was getting long, you were willing to bet he’d be able to pull most of it into a small ponytail. He’d also gotten, for lack of a better word, broad. When you’d met he’d been muscly but thin, almost as waifish as Rory had been.
Obviously, you hadn’t matured as much as you thought, because a few seconds after seeing him you buried your hands in the snow and started shaping it into a tight ball. The broad back of his leather jacket made too tempting a target for you to just ignore, especially since he’d been ignoring you for weeks.
A car passed by and you took aim. Jess was across the street, still talking to Luke with his back toward you. He hadn’t noticed you yet, but Luke had. Luke saw exactly what you were doing and made no move to stop you or warn his nephew — he even tapped Jess’s shoulder to move him a bit to the right and further from the telephone pole to make your shot easier. What a guy, that Luke Danes.
You threw the snowball, hitting Jess squarely between his shoulder blades, sending snow down the back of his leather jacket. He jumped around like a madman trying to get it out and you couldn’t help the loud laugh that echoed across the street. Luke was trying not to double over in hysterics, his hand over his mouth.
“What the hell? Oh,” Jess said, catching sight of you. Your eyes connected and you smiled at him, waving cheekily. “You’re dead!”
He dashed across the street and you took off across the square, scooping more snow as you did. You stood on one side of the gazebo and Jess stuttered to a stop on the other side, his own snowball ready to throw. He moved to the right, you dodged to your left to maintain your distance. This continued until you both stood in the gazebo, each with one foot on the top step below, ready to flee if necessary.
“Come on, you owe me one good shot!” he negotiated.
“You deserved that and you know it,” you said back, trying to hide the smile in your voice. “Consider it my last ditch effort to get a response from you.”
“Well you’ve got my attention, sweetheart. Now, would you act like an adult and let me pelt you with this snowball?” Jess’s eyes sparkled and he shook the hand that held the snowball. How could you deny him when he was so damn irresistible? He always had been.
“Fine, go ahead.” You raise your arms to the side and tilt your head back, allowing him to take aim. The snowball hits the gazebo floor, shattering over the toes of your boots and you raise an eyebrow at him.
“I’m sorry I left you on read,” He approached you and traced his hands down the arms of your coat. “Truncheon has been insane, holidays you know. And then one of our presses went down and that was a whole debacle. How’ve you been?” He asked.
“I’m good. Store’s keeping me busy, but overall I’m good.”
“Yeah? You look good.”
You blushed and glanced away from him. “You look good too, Mariano.”
“Hey, are you busy right now? I was gonna head over to Al’s and grab a bite.”
“I am the opposite of busy right now.”
“Cool.” His dark eyes glinted in the fairy lights above your heads as he glanced at your lips, then back to your eyes. You couldn’t help the fluttering in your chest.
“Cool.”

Some of my favourite types of fictional relationship dynamics (according to whatever names I’ve decided to give them, regardless of whether or not they are previously named tropes):
1. Mutually Protective
This can be romantic or platonic, physical or emotional, or literally anything, but??? I adore characters who will go the extra mile to protect the people they love, and when there’s TWO characters who are EQUALLY protective of each other, I simply die. Whether it’s a battlefield-type of “I’ll fight and bleed and die for you,” or it’s a gentler “Let me carry this burden so you don’t have to,” as long as it’s going both ways, I’m obsessed. Yes, please. More of this.
2. Jack & Joy
Naming this after a story from Douglas Gresham I read once about he, his mother, and stepfather (you know... C. S. Lewis...) going for a walk, and running into a trespasser who pointed a bow + arrow at them, so Lewis stepped in front of his wife, who, in turn, said “Dang it, Jack, get out of my way!” because wonderful Joy had brought a 'garden gun’ along to scare off animals, so Jack stepped aside and they sent that trespasser running. BASICALLY an extension of “mutually protective” but it must contain 1) A woman who can handle herself, and 2) a man who knows she can handle herself & knows when to step aside BUT will also willingly put himself in harm’s way to protect her. This is also very common in crime shows, and I love it every single time.
3. “No Doubt About It/The Archer/Red Raw Rolling” Ladies
(Song titles by: ABBA, Taylor Swift, and Alanna Boudreau.) Give me angry, untrusting, self-sabotaging, doubtful, explosive ladies, and then give me extremely patient men who love them until the very end. This just speaks to my soul. We don’t overanalyze this.
4. Lorelai Gilmore + Luke Danes
The crux of this dynamic is that one of them is a single parent, and the other one loves the first one’s child(ren) as much as they would love their own, even if they’re not yet in a relationship. Because, sure, Lorelai knew she loved Luke. But do you remember the moments in the series that she knew she loved him with the absolute most clarity? It was when she realized he loved Rory (almost?) as much as she did. JUST! Straight shot to the heart, that one.
5. The Dawn & Waverly Effect
If I had a nickel for every time a supernatural show gave me a monster-hunting lady with a younger sister, and then tried to make me care about the mc’s romance with some dude, when actually the far more compelling dynamic is the platonic relationship between the dude and the younger sister, I’d have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s strange that it happened twice. Named for “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and “Wynonna Earp,” I refuse to ship Spuffy or Wynonna/Doc, but GOSH DARN IT, Spike & Dawn and Doc & Waverly are some dang wholesome friendships.
6. The Old Married Couple
Actually also applies to newly married couples. So long as the couples are in a happy, healthy marriage, I lose my mind. I just love marriage.
7. When they’re just. So in love. The whole time.
The heartbeat of the slowburn isn’t freaking “sexual tension;” it’s actually the fact that the couples love each other in such a selfless way even when there is no external romance in their relationship!!!! This dynamic is probably most obvious in friends-to-lovers, but it could exist in other situations. The point is that they have never not loved each other. There’s always been love. And then when that love changes designs, it’s just!! The most natural thing in the world!! Because they have always, ALWAYS loved each other, one way or another! Makes my heart soft.
8. Older Brother
A classic. You know those fictional older brothers who are always there to listen to your problems, encourage you to chase your dreams, and help you when things go wrong? I think I’ll always have a soft spot for those, and the relationship between these older brothers and their younger siblings is just the most precious.
9. Best Friends
Just. ALL the best friends. “You and me against the world” type best friends. Groups of best friends who, as a whole, are like family. Best friends who have known each other their whole lives. Best friends forged over the course of the story. Best friends who are one another’s safe space when other relationships fall apart. JUST!!! BEST FRIENDS!!
10. Mom said it’s my turn to use the braincell
Usually a duo of minor characters, and absolutely delightful just about every time. A beautifully chaotic relationship. I love how they take turns being complete disasters while the other one keeps them in line, but then ALSO have the occasional incidents where both of them are complete buffoons. Iconic. Beautiful. I love it. (My favourite example of this will only make sense to my siblings and cousins, but... Nicholas Coke and Dr. Martin Pepper? Name a better duo. I’ll wait.)

The year is 1893, and Cora Seaborne (Claire Danes), a Londoner exploring her newfound freedom after the death of her abusive husband, hears about a sea monster terrorizing a village on the Essex coast. Cora is an avid naturalist and fossil hunter, so she decides to go investigate with her housekeeper and companion Martha (Hayley Squires) and her son Frankie (Caspar Griffiths) in tow. When she gets there, she befriends the Reverend Will Ransome (Tom Hiddleston) and his family. As the two begin to develop feelings for each other, though, the panicked villagers find an easy scapegoat in Cora, accusing her of bringing God’s wrath to the village. Meanwhile, Martha, Dr. Luke Garrett (Frank Dillane), and other characters in Cora’s orbit ride the wave of change in England, exploring questions of science, progress, and human rights in a rapidly changing world. The Essex Serpent is adapted from the 2016 novel by Sarah Perry of the same name.
You might have already heard that the landscape in The Essex Serpent, a new prestige drama premiering on Apple TV+ on May 13, 2022, is as much of a character as any of the humans, and that’s no exaggeration. The Essex coast, with its salt marshes and earthquake-torn beaches, is both breathtaking and sinister. Lingering aerial shots take us through the vast marshes, which coil along the coast like snakes. Sea cliffs hide the fossils of ammonites and plesiosaurs. A mysterious atmospheric phenomenon—an eruption from far-off Mount Krakatoa, one character speculates—turns the night sky a shimmering, eldritch blue, and calls the villagers out of their homes to roam the land like ghosts. The series sets up a startling contrast between the otherworldly seaside and cosmopolitan London, with its stately museums and cutting-edge medicine.
At the heart of The Essex Serpent is the question of how faith and enchantment can coexist with science and rationality, and Cora and Will are thrust into the middle of that debate. Cora struggles to explain to superstitious villagers and skeptical London friends that she thinks the serpent is real, but not magical. Will, who walked away from a prestigious career to become a country vicar, finds himself pulled between two extremes: the folk religion of his parishioners, who believe that the serpent is punishing them for their sins, and the atheism of Cora and her friends, some of whom see him as a joke. England is tipping into modernity, with doctors in London performing heart surgery while villagers cast spells to ward off evil, and at its best, the series beautifully conveys the tension between those two worlds.
Hiddleston and Danes’s performances are layered, complex, and expertly executed. Will’s personality alternates between that of a gruff, hostile villager and a compassionate shepherd to his family and flock. Cora can be socially clueless sometimes, bumbling into spaces where she’s not welcome and accidentally stirring up hornets’ nests, but her simmering rage at her husband’s abuse gives her a compelling intensity. Clémence Poésy also shines as Will’s wife Stella. For much of the series, she haunts the edges of the narrative, but she’s harboring a secret that eventually leads to heartbreaking catharsis. The casting is also diverse in a natural, realistic way, which will challenge many viewers’ preconceived and false notions about the demographics of Victorian England.
Of course, the series isn’t without its faults. Martha, Luke, and other characters fight for better living conditions in London, and although it’s an interesting storyline, it feels divorced enough from Cora’s exploits that perhaps it should have just been its own series. Dialogue that’s meant to be thought-provoking sometimes just drags, and more than once, the beauty of the show’s lingering establishing shots wears off before the shot is actually over.
The series also suffers from some cliches. What better way to show two characters falling in love than to have them gaze into each other’s eyes while dancing a waltz? Or get them into a screaming match before they fall, helpless with passion, into each other’s arms? If the villagers are working themselves into a lather about woman and sin, why not put the woman in question in a bright red dress to hammer the point home?
Those flaws aside, though, The Essex Serpent succeeds as a gothic meditation on the magic and wonder of the natural world, whether it’s seen through the lens of science or the supernatural. But it’s also a moving story about human connection. “Love is not finite,” Cora muses at one point. “It’s not confined to marriage. There are so many ways to love.” Cora, Will, and everyone else caught up in the serpent’s wake feel their way through all those different kinds of love, sometimes stumbling, sometimes finding each other in moments of tenderness and awe.
The Essex Serpent premieres on Apple TV Plus on Friday, May 13.

This was stupid. Why were you getting jealous of her being here? Of her having all of Luke’s attention, something you felt you never got when you two were together. Was she the reason he broke up with you? Did he realise she was better than you and that he could do better? You couldn’t bare this. It was too much. How were you supposed to stay at this damn town event when all you could see were the two of them? No matter how many times you moved, they always appeared everywhere you went.
You went to the bar that Taylor had so graciously allowed and ordered yourself a whiskey, needing something strong to get through the night. You lean against the counter, drumming your fingers against it as you look sadly down at your drink. “What’s a pretty woman like you doing all alone over here?” You huff, rolling your eyes slightly at the pickup line and turn your head toward the man. Your eyes widen somewhat when you see Max, one of Lorelai’s exes.
“Max? What are you doing in Stars Hollow? I thought…” You trail off, staring at him with furrowed brows. “How have you been?” You give him a soft smile, resting your hand on his bicep.
He chuckles, grinning. “I’ve been good. I was just passing through, and my car broke down.” He shrugs as if it’s nothing and continues to smile down at you. “You look good.” Your smile widens.
“Thank you. You don’t look so bad yourself.” The two of you talk briefly, and some flirting is added to the conversation before you excuse yourself. “It was nice catching up with you, Max. I think I might go home and get some rest. I hope we can catch up some other time?” He nods, giving you another smile before bending down and placing a kiss on your cheek. You turn and begin to head toward your house, and the sadness starts to set in that you are headed toward an empty home, one that used to be filled with so much love and joy. You make your way up your porch and to your front door, unlocking it and walking inside. You don’t notice the grumpy man sitting in his old chair that he still hasn’t collected. You turn around after taking your coat off and hanging it up, jumping when your gaze lands on him. “Luke?! What are you doing here?!”
He grunts, standing from the chair and stalking toward you. You back into the wall as he traps you, bringing his hand up to your throat and squeezing. “Did you seriously think flirting with him was okay? Are you trying to make me jealous?” You whimper, squeezing your thighs together as your cunt throbs.
“Weren’t you doing the same? Isn’t that why you left me? For her?” You argue back, “You know. The woman who cheated on you!” The rage and sadness were building up inside you, confused about why he cares or feels he’s allowed to be jealous. You push against his body, not wanting him so close to you. You could feel yourself breaking with him being so close, his scent reminding you of the times he’d hold you close. Tears began to fall as you stared into his eyes. Luke moves closer, his tears forming before he smashes his lips against yours. You whimper into his mouth, hands curling into his shirt, pulling him closer.
“Jump,” Luke grunts against your lips, catching your legs and wrapping them around his waist as he carries you to the couch. He sits, pulling you into his lap as your lips move rapidly against one another. He reaches down, unzipping his pants and pulls out his throbbing member. “You’re mine.” You moan as he pulls your knickers to the side, lining his thick mushroom tip against your sopping entrance. Luke’s head falls back as he pushes in, groaning at how tight and warm you are. “Mine. Didn’t want to leave you.” He pulls your head down, cupping the back of your neck. Your lips were nearly touching as he stared deeply into your eyes, slowly moving you up and down. “I couldn’t let you get caught up in staying with a guy like me. You deserve the world, and I can only give you the view of a diner.” Your movements become slow as he talks, and you crash your lips into his.
“I don’t care.” You whine, panting against his lips. “I don’t want the world. I want you. I want the diner.” You bounce faster, needing to cum, needing to feel closer to him. “I love you so much. Please don’t leave me.” You push yourself closer to him, pressing your lips into his harder. Your tears mix with his, causing the two of you to be able to taste the saltiness.
Luke’s hand that is cupping the back of your neck moves to cup your cheek, and his other moves down your body, gripping your hips before thrusting up into you, holding you close. “I love you too, sweetheart. I’m so sorry.” Your bodies begin to move lovingly with one another. You move to bury your face into his neck, whimpering and pressing kisses into his skin. “Love you so much.” Luke groans, wrapping his around tightly around you as he begins to pound into you, needing to feel you cum around him, needing to fill you. “Cum for me, sweetheart. Please.”
You moan, your eyes rolling to the back of your head as your arousal flows out of you, cumming all over his cock and pants. You cling to him as he buries his cock deep inside of you and cums, filling you to the brim with his sperm. You both pant, catching your breath, and you lean back with his softening cock still inside you, and you look at him. “Did you mean it? Because I don’t want you to get back with me because you pity me. I want this to last, Luke. I want to marry you and hold your last name, and I want mini versions of us to run around the diner. I don’t want to do this if you aren’t all in.” You feel yourself choke up, staring into his eyes.
Luke cups your cheeks, stroking away the fallen tears. “I’m all in. You can count on me, Y/n, because I am all in.” He leans forward and presses a kiss on your lips.

for a blurb u should do first date w jess mariano
:)
love me sweet—jess mariano.
summary: your first date with jess mariano.
word count: 0.6k
fanfic no. 009
Tumblr media
the sun was beginning to set below the horizon as you walked through the quaint town of stars hollow, nervously fixing your hair and pulling down your jacket every few seconds. you stretched your neck out to see if jess had arrived yet, but could see nothing but faint shadows around the back of the poorly lit gazebo. but jess mariano watched you from a short distance, cowering where the light couldn’t touch, smiling softly, and wondering why you might be nervous to see him. he was nothing. you were everything.
he shook his head in disbelief as a small chuckle escaped his lips, slipping a book into his back pocket and pushing himself off the gazebo and into the light.
“hey there,” he greeted.
“hey,” you grinned, eyes brightening.
jess’ eyes raked over your figure, taking in the clothes you’d spent a long while choosing above all others. he didn’t say much, he never did, just a simple ‘you look good’ under his breath before he headed off. it was both endearing and satisfying.
“where are we going?” you asked, feet still planted into the damp grass below as you watched him march forward.
“you’ll see. come on, don’t you trust me?” he tilted his head with a mischievous smirk.
you hardly knew him, truth be told, but there was an inexplicable sense of safety you felt in his presence—an inclination you possessed that he would never lead you astray. but despite this, there was still a small part of you that felt as if you were free-falling with no access to a safe landing. but you were generally a good judge of character.
“i haven’t decided yet,” you hesitated. “trust is earned.”
“how am i supposed to earn it if you don’t take a leap of faith and trust me a little?” he cocked an eyebrow.
you suppressed a smile. “alright.”
as it so happens, jess had no plans at all as to where he was going to take you. he walked you through town, to the small bridge over the lake, past luke’s diner and then finally into the bookshop which was always open late of fridays. he simply valued your company and conversation.
neither of you bought anything, only browsed the shelves of limited titles the small store offered and pointed out which books you had read, which you desired to read, your favourites and the ones you hated beyond anything. jess laughed at your distaste for ‘the great gatsby’, how your face scrunched up in disgust.
on the way home, for jess insisted to walk you back, you exchanged book recommendations, music suggestions and talked of the films you should watch together in the little theatre in town. and when you reached the door to your house, jess tucked his chin into his chest as he looked down at your hands, cautiously reaching out to touch them.
“i had a nice time tonight,” you told him, wrapping your fingers around his.
“me too,” he nodded, still keeping his eyes away from yours.
you didn’t want to go inside, and jess didn’t want you to either, but you were both too anxious to make the first move. but after a moment, jess could feel the warmth leaving your fingertips, and he knew you couldn’t stay out there forever. he slipped his hands delicately up your arm until he reached your neck, which he caressed gently.
in spite of his feather light touches, the sting of his cool hands nipped at the warmth of your skin, but you hadn’t the heart to care. your heart was preoccupied, perhaps indefinitely.
his lips reached yours tentatively, sweetly, flowing into open-mouthed kisses after a few seconds to find your shared rhythm. he was perfection.

Request Guidelines
Last Edited: May 13, 2023
Hello! My name is Mari Delia. I have been writing stories recreationally for four years now. I have recently started posting my stories since this year's March. I recently made this tumblr so that I have a place to post one-shots, headcanons, mini-series, and more. Now, my full series is over on Wattpad. Currently, I am making slow updates to that story since I am sick. We don’t exactly know what I am sick with, but it’s been going on for three years, which is why I am slow at writing. It’s why I started to post my writings, because there isn’t much I can do anymore. This at least gives me a sense of productivity through it all. In this post, I will go over the rules I have for requesting stories. I must say that I am very strict about these rules. I will also be going over which fandoms I write for. I will only accept requests for one-shots and headcanons.
My Rules
Rule #1: Understand that I have my own private life. I have a family to care for, a job to do, and, as previously stated, I am sick as well. I need to care for myself too, which is why I am slow at writing stories.
Rule #2: I will not write about real people. As lovely as I think Pedro Pascal and Tom Hiddleston are, I don’t want to be writing about them. They’re real people with real lives, and some of those people aren’t comfortable with fanfiction being written about them. I feel like I would be speculating about their lives, invading their privacy, and we don’t always know if they’re comfortable with that. A character is one thing; a real person is another.
Rule #3: I don’t really feel comfortable writing smut one-shots. Well, it’s not that I'm personally uncomfortable with it; I just don’t like writing smut one-shots. If I do post one, it was on my own account.
Rule #4: I am more than fine with writing any pairing, although I will not write a trans character as my main character. I myself am not a transgender person, so I will not be able to truly understand their struggles. I do not want to offend anybody with that, but a lot of the stories I have written have had transgender characters in them; they're just not main characters. I don’t want to portray their struggles incorrectly or write falsely about those absolutely lovely people.
Rule #5: You can use my ask box to send in requests because I’m pretty sure that it’s open. Make sure to specify which character from the list I have, what idea you have, and whatever else you think I should know about it. Whether it’s a ship or a reader insert
Rule #6: I am open to trying basically any character pairing as long as it does not involve incest, minor, or adult relationships and follows my rules.
Rule #7: I refuse to write scenes about the topics of rape, suicide, eating disorders, self-harm, heart attacks, strokes, or CPR. I am willing to write about these topics.

kat i’m finally almost done with sons of anarchy and i’m trying to figure out what to watch next, pls give me an elevator pitch on the best show you’ve watched recently thank you 🥰🥰
LAUREN!! i've never watched sons of anarchy so unfortunately i can't use that as a jumping off point 😅
THERE ARE TOO MANY SHOWS!! i'm sitting here like: has she seen succession? the bear? severance? yellowjackets? there are just TOO MANY good options out there. so instead lets go for the totally over the top silly recommendation of the show i've been catching up on/binging during my vacation: virgin river.
this show is the epitome of the SNL stefon meme—it has everything. a spunky lead with an impeccable wardrobe and a tragic backstory! a luke danes-esque bartender who just wants to take care of his loved ones and convince our lead that he's The One™! an illegal pot farm full of wayward criminals who inevitably cross paths with our heroes! an older couple rekindling their former love with each other! teenagers being teenagers! possibly the most hateful woman in this fictional universe??? a bizarre jennifer-lopez-from-enough-(2002)-style plot involving a character escaping her abusive husband hiding under an assumed identity! murder! bad boy turned good man! small town hijinks! who shot JR-esque cliffhangers! several pregnancies!
AND IT ALL TAKES PLACE IN THE SPAN OF FIVE MONTHS!
this show is ridiculous. it is peak popcorn. it feels like a hallmark movie met a lifetime movie and created a 4+ season monstrosity with no end in sight. is it good?? i don't even know! AND YET I CANNOT STOP WATCHING. it's on netflix, what are you waiting for, go watch it.
✨sleepover weekend✨

Claire Danes and Tom Hiddleston in Apple TV+’s ‘The Essex Serpent’: TV Review
A young widow investigates reports of a mythical beast in a small seaside village in this adaptation of Sarah Perry's novel, set in late 19th-century England.
Tumblr media
Like the possibly mythical creature of its title, The Essex Serpent is something of a slippery beast. It winds through ideas and genres, twisting and turning in ways that can be difficult to predict, and wriggles free of tidy categorizations or explanations. It’s a story about a sea creature, sort of, but it’s primarily a story about faith and progress and love and maybe half a dozen other things. But if the journey it takes can seem occasionally odd and even frustrating, it’s one guided by a steady heart toward an ultimately worthwhile destination.
Adapted from the novel by Sarah Perry with Anna Symon as lead writer, The Essex Serpent begins rather ominously, with the one-two punch of a disappearance and a death. In late 19th-century London, Cora Seaborne (Claire Danes) sits by the bedside of her abusive older husband as he passes away of cancer, stubbornly refusing the newfangled medical treatments suggested by his ambitious young doctor, Luke Garrett (Frank Dillane). Meanwhile, some miles away in the Essex coastal village of Aldwinter, a teenager has vanished without a trace — taken, the locals have started to murmur, by an ancient sea creature recently reawakened.
Intrigued by reports of the creature and freshly liberated from her oppressive marriage, Cora, an amateur naturalist, makes the impulsive decision to move to Aldwinter to search for what she theorizes could be a type of plesiosaur that’s escaped both extinction and evolution. Upon arrival, she’s greeted by a town full of people increasingly scared and suspicious of a monster they’re convinced is coming to claim them for their sins.
As the local vicar, Will Ransome (Tom Hiddleston), attempts to quell their panic by denying the serpent’s existence and directing their worries toward God, Cora takes a different tack, trying gamely to offer a rational explanation for the disturbances. Despite their oppositional stances, it’s not long before the two realize they’re more alike than different, and find themselves drawn to each other in spite of his happy marriage to the kindly Stella (Clémence Poésy).
For the first two-thirds of its six hourlong episodes, The Essex Serpent conjures a seductively dark, mysterious mood, with even a few scares that wouldn’t feel out of place in an A24 thriller. In the tense atmosphere of Aldwinter, adolescent girls cast spells and fall victim to disturbing fits, while superstitious men hang skinned moles to ward off the beast. It is, as Cora’s maid and companion Martha (Hayley Squires) observes with a shudder, “witch-burning country.”
Then, in its last couple of episodes, The Essex Serpent switches gears to become a more conventional drama, and eventually mellows into an ending far gentler than the first few hours of the series might have given any cause to expect. The serpent, once the main focus of the lead characters, recedes from view, as the personal journeys and relationships between the characters come to the fore.
For some viewers, the change in pace will come as an annoyance. Those who’ve come expecting fantasy-tinged monster hunts will likely be disappointed by The Essex Serpent‘s disinterest in embracing the supernatural. At the same time, those who’ve previously enjoyed dirt-caked British relationship dramas like Ammonite or The Dig may have already been warded off by the eerie tone suggested by the marketing.
Those open to seeing where the tide takes them, though, will find much to like. Clio Barnard, who directed all six episodes, has an eye for beauty, especially of the strange, austere sort that Cora finds in the countryside. Aldwinter is established through long shots of marshes covered in mist so thick, it threatens to swallow objects whole. The landscape is a wild and unruly one, so indifferent to human life as to look almost alien at times, and it feels like little wonder the people living in it find both faith and science to fall short in their efforts to understand or control it.
In contrast, Cora’s upper-crust London home is done in sumptuous fabrics, intricate designs and sparkling gems and metals, and yet Cora looks trapped by the gold bars of her elaborate bed frame, and weighed down by the heavy colors and shadows that fill the space. It’s hardly a surprise that she looks not just happier but more alive in Aldwinter, despite the hardships she encounters there. As written by Symon’s team and played by Danes, Cora has the un-pin-down-able quality of a real person. She’s both caring and careless, likable and exhausting, determined and indecisive — and never anything less than compelling.
As for Hiddleston, it’s a thrill to see him try on new colors again after spending the past half decade in Loki green onscreen. The Essex Serpent taps back into the romantic intensity that made him such an obvious star in films like The Deep Blue Sea, Only Lovers Left Alive and Crimson Peak. Much of the series’ warmth and heat are generated from the way Hiddleston simply looks at his costars, with affection or yearning or worry — and much of the narrative momentum, too, since it’s hard to see an expression like that and not long to know what happens next.
It is possible, indeed, that one of The Essex Serpent‘s faults is an overabundance of riches. The series has a lot on its mind, and it’s not always apparent what, say, a storyline about Martha’s campaign for public housing has to do with Cora and Will’s irresistible attraction to one another. And conceits that may have worked better rendered in Perry’s evocative prose — like Stella’s characterization as an ethereal saint prone to making profound observations about the color blue — strike an odd note among more grounded characters and settings.
But it works beautifully as a drama about complicated characters tangled in relationships unable to be contained by the conventional boundaries of romance or friendship, and about the ways humans will try to impose order or sense where none can be found. In the end, both faith and science fall short in the face of elemental drives like fear and love, and neither can account for the random accidents or tragedies that befall all lives. Whether the serpent is technically “real” is beside the point: It persists because the world is and always will be full of forces that slip out of our grasp.
