it was also v funny bc halfway through recounting this relationship i mentioned something and i saw her eyes light up and i was like "ah, ok yes, that probably connects to the thing i said earlier in our session about catastrophizing when people don't respond to my calls and texts. nothing to see here!!"
my therapist is like, so we made it through the childhood trauma aspect of your luggage, how about we move onto your relationship hangups now??

did you date in high school?
#i dated 2 guys in high school#one my freshman year (when he was a senior)#and one my senior year (who had graduated the year before me)#neither relationship really leant itself to like. all the cliche high school relationship drama#victor and i only shared one class together and we didn't really act?? super couple-y??#at least not on campus that i remember#we made out in an empt classroom or two#victor turned 18 while we were dating and he had his brithday party on the rooftop of a casino and we jumped in the pool together#i can't even remember if we kissed in front of people??#all i remember is that everyone got him gifts that were vaguely sexual (lots of condoms etc) and i got him like. 2 movies i loved lol#we didn't date for super long. had our first kiss in december then IMMEDIATELY went on winter break#so didn't start dating until??? probably around valentine's day?? i think the school dance#man i wish i remembered how we officially got together#and then by the end of march we were both basically under martial law as a revolution broke out in nepal and school kept getting cancelled#the phones and internet were down for most of that month so we weren't able to keep in touch that often#when the embassy announced a mandatory evacuation i remember the phones were working well enough that i could call him#and i was like 'my mom wants to come back as soon as we're allowed'#and he was like 'my mom doesn't. we're not returning after this' lol#then there was a freak hailstorm that day so the palace wasn't stormed and then the king abdicated and everything was FINE#but the evacuation order still had to go through#we both went to school for one final day and awkwardly hugged goodbye on the stairs with everyone else#didn't even get a proper emotional private goodbye#bc my friend devi was iMPATIENT and was like 'come on kat!! we have to get to class!!!'#so i just like. awkwardly waved goodbye to victor and that was the end of my first high school relationship lol#colin on the other hand was older than me. i had a crush on him his senior year but he wasn't really interested#we didn't start dating til january of MY senior year#we first made out on new years eve at a bar everyone in my school drank at. so like. people definitely witnessed our getting together#he was going to culinary school in london but his family was still in vienna so he'd fly home to visit sometimes#i remember there was one day he was gonna visit campus and i was kind of excited about like. having my BOYFRIEND be there in the hallways#but i got sick and got sent home lol so he just came to visit me at my house and laid on the couch with me while we watched ratatouille
