“Once upon a time, there was a king and a queen… – Wait, no, no, no. A knight and a princess!”
You giggle, head tilting back against the pillows in delight, as Eddie’s plush lips brush against your skin, as delicate as clouds. He’s gazing at you from his spot by the foot of the bed, with those golden eyes and a dimply grin that rival the sunshine – a combination seen in your dreams, reflected on another tiny being.
“No, no, no, no, wait, no – a bard and a sorceress…” he winks as he puts on his raspy dungeon master voice and slyly raises his eyebrows.
“That’s more like it. Alright! – once upon a time, there was a bard and a sorceress, who lived blissfully in their cottage, far out in the forest that surrounded an ancient kingdom…”
Eddie’s murmurs wrap around your heart like the safest of embraces. His warm breath swirls among the broad expanse of your pregnant belly like the embers of a fire on a cold winter night; his curls caress the stretched skin, like petals falling on a soft bed of grass; his callused fingers trace the stretchmarks and sore spots reverently, trying to make up the outline of the baby that he imagines is sleeping soundly within you.
Your shared bedroom is bathed in mellow, honeyed light coming from the bedside lamp, as you lay among freshly washed sheets to relax you, and pillows that are perfumed with the heavenly scent of your and Eddie’s skin. You’ve got your t-shirt rolled up beneath your breasts, with your belly being warmed by Eddie’s cheek, which longingly rests there as he talks.
“The bard and the sorceress didn’t have much to their names, but they had love. Endless love.”
Eddie begins his tale, ever the storyteller, able to breathe life into entire realms in the spur of the moment. You grin as you imagine your child in the near future, being lulled to sleep as her father spins endless, magical adventures, just for her.
“The bard would sing as the moonlight shone under the sorcerer, who danced in the woods to the beat of the night. Together they created magic, their sounds of love made a symphony that rivaled that of the wolves and nightbirds. And from that magic, a little bud grew within the sorceress.”
Your eyes wander aimlessly all over the room, getting lost in the coils at the crown of Eddie’s head as you remember how all of this came to be. How the conversation of children had been had so long ago, only then it had been agreed that you’d wait until after you got married and had a little bit more to your name than a shitty apartment you could barely afford with Eddie balancing out his job at Thatcher tire and teaching music on the side, and you begging people to buy your paintings while you taught art at the youth center.
But, there was one day, when you just couldn’t pry your hands away from each other; when there came rounds and rounds and rounds of rough, primal, feverish need that left you both desperate and drenched, throbbing, aching, and hungry for more, more, more.
You were gonna have a child anyway, so why wait? You begged Eddie to fill you in the way no one else would ever do until you could feel his essence stuffing you to the brim, Eddie’s being making a home inside yourself.
As if that wasn’t enough, he filled you again the next day, onto the next week. It was unlike anything you’d ever experienced before. Those days, you were both so elated, feeling invincible and high without taking a single hit. It truly was like magic, which burst out with sparks the day you took that first pregnancy test and it came back positive.
“The sorceress saw the face of that little bud, as clear as day, in her cauldron of clairvoyance.”
You exchange a grin as you remember endless conversations before falling asleep, sharing how you were both so certain it would be a girl.
“...And I wanna name her Elizabeth, like your mom…” you had murmured so long ago, while tucking a lock of his hair behind his ear, your heart folding over the way his eyes teared up with gratitude when you said that.
He grinned through the rivers that traversed his cheeks, nodding as he looked up towards the ceiling. “Oh yeah? You’d do that for me? You’re gonna give me another little Lizzie Munson?”
And even through his cracking voice, he had poked your sides to tickle you so you wouldn’t call him out for crying – making you wrap your arms around him and kiss him silly until your tears were replaced with bubbling giggles.
“The bard wrote songs for it, lullabies to help it grow,” Eddie continues. “The sorceress prayed every night to the mother goddess of the woods, swearing the little bud would be named in her honor. All was well, all was right. Until a dreadful night when they were awoken by a banshee’s shriek. The bud was gone!”
Your fingers halt their caress around Eddie’s curls, as the memory never fails to make your heart shudder, as if out without proper cover on a cruel, arctic night. You hadn’t done anything wrong at all, and the doctors said it was normal for a first-time pregnancy. It didn’t make it any less tragic for you, having woken one night, to the horror of your bedsheets stained with blood.
“The bard and the sorceress lamented its loss for days and nights. What had they done? They had nurtured it with all the love in their bodies; the sorceress had woven garments to keep it cozy during the winter, and the bard wrote sonnets to make its mind spin like dandelions in the wind.”
When you came back from the hospital, you swore you’d honor the original plan of waiting until after getting married. You gave yourselves a whole week to just be sad, doing nothing but napping and staying in bed watching silly movies. You even started a little diary where you wrote the things you looked forward to doing with your child once they came back to you – first missing tooth, first trip to Disneyland, first words, first day of school…
Eddie grabs your hand then, recognizing where your mind had wandered off to, giving it three little squeezes – to signify ‘I love you’ without words. He stops his tale to give your bellybutton a little kiss, nuzzling his cheek against your skin and breathing in deeply, as if reassuring himself that those memories were a thing of the past.
That the present was far more beautiful – kicking his face and making him snort and chuckle, saying “Alright, alright, you want your papi to continue, I get it!”
You laugh brightly, and resume your toying with Eddie’s hair as he clears his throat exagerateddly before continuing.
“In their period of mourning, the sorceress sought answers from her cauldron, and was soothed by the revelation she came upon. There in the iridescent liquid, the face of the bud became clear again, enveloped by tender, wise hands. A whisper came in with the gust of wind entering through the opened window. It was the mother goddess! whose soothing voice assured the sorceress that their little bud would be safe with her – that she would take care of it until the time was right for it to rejoin the couple. Many spring suns rose before the sorceress felt the kick of life within her once again, growing stronger each day, with the blessing of the mother goddess.”
“ – and you know who that is?” Eddie breaks the narrative to speak directly to the baby that’s been kicking eagerly through the rest of Eddie’s tale. He taps his finger gently to the spot that seems to jut out with each kick, with a goofy lovesick grin on his face. Still amused as hell because he says it looks like a scene from Alien.
“That’s you, baby!” You double over in laughter when he blows a raspberry to your belly, retaliating all the kicks he felt against his cheek during your tale “That’s you, my precious girl!” he coos between snorting chuckles and tickles that make you both roll around in bed.
“-- Stop, stop stop!!” You wheeze as you try to push Eddie away from you, making him redirect his attack to the side of your neck.
He fits himself behind your body, with his arm all snug around your belly until your laughter dies down, to the gentle rhythm of his hand rubbing circles along the shape of you, and those dewdrop kisses that turn into gentle licks that have you sighing contently, melting into the bed.
Only Eddie could have you swooning with innocent tenderness one moment, to then have you gasping for breath the other, as his hand trails over your curves and his palm squeezes your breast. He lets out a soft groan every time, delighting in the way they feel heavier in their palm, way more sensitive as his thumb lightly fondles your throbbing nipple.
“What say thee, my beloved sorceress, wanna make more magic tonight?” You can’t help but chuckle and blush over such a corny line delivered so seriously through that low growl coming right from Eddie’s chest.
“You’re so stupid” You playfully push his face away from your neck just to egg him on, and he gladly takes the challenge, encasing you in his arms and kissing you all over like an overeager puppy.
And what could you say? It takes a certain kind of magic to transform laughter into whines of pleasure, to cries of newborn life.
That’s what you ponder, a month later, gazing tiredly from your hospital bed to the sight beside you. Eddie rocking your baby in his arms, with a grin as luminous as the moonlight.
He’s kissing Elizabeth’s delicate head, whispering the continuation of The Bard and the Sorceress.

Currently, just thinking of Eddie loving Christmas because his mom did. They didn't have much when he was little but she made it the most special holiday for him every year. She would decorate their little house, blasting Christmas music on a record player. Eddie would stand on her feet, holding her hands as he throws his head back laughing as they would dance around the living room. She baked every year too, countless treats that were almost as sweet as Eddie’s smile when she offered him a ginger bread cookie.
The long list Eddie wrote for 'Santa' would be bought no matter what she had to do, she even went without to make sure he got what he asked for. Christmas was her favorite holiday because of the joy it brought to Eddie. She spent hours wrapping all his stuff carefully in some cheap wrapping paper with reindeer on it. It didn't always look the best but it was worth it to see Eddie's smile break out on his face as his little hands rip at the wrapping paper, tears rolling down his cheeks from excitement.
That same excitement carries over one Christmas morning long after Eddie’s mom passes. Eddie sits in front of Wayne opening gift after gift, thanking him for each one. Eddie knew Wayne had to work extra hours to get him everything and he was extremely grateful. It was worth every hour of work to Wayne, when Eddie opened his last present, his electric guitar, the one he would name 'sweetheart.' Wayne smiled at Eddie's reaction, he hadn't heard Eddie scream from excitement in years, not since he was a little boy with his momma still around to surprise him. Wayne would smile and just shake his head as he looks up at the ceiling, "He still has that spirit you gave him Lizzie, you'd be proud." He whispers, reaching towards his Polaroid camera to snap a picture of Eddie, his brown eyes full of tears, dimples showing, as Christmas songs played in the background, on the same record player from his childhood.

Steddie's kid, let's call her Lizzie, got Steve as her teacher, walks into class.
Lizzie: Hey, dad.
Student: You're not supposed to call him that.
Lizzie: But he doesn't like it when I call him mom.
Eddie: *who's the music teacher walks by* You tell him, Lizard.
Lizzie: Papa!
Same student: Oh my god! Is that what Lizzie stands for?
Eddie cackled all the way down the hallway while Lizzie slapped a hand to her face.
Lizzie: It's Elizabeth. You dingus.

Eddie Munson who gets his Lizzie McGuire moment by going to Rome with an university art program.
The only requirement is to visit museums regularly and redraw the art pieces in his style and submit his work by the end of it.
What seems to be a piece of cake for Eddie, gets a lot more complicated when the average Italian museum worker is met with his peculiar drawings style -which might include evil dragons and decapitated heads in some of Caravaggio’s Still Lives and, in worst cases, some additions to Christian art pieces that have been described as “blasphemy” as he was getting escorted out and banned from the Vatican’s Museums (and maybe the whole country, Eddie still doesn’t know so he avoids that part of the city just to be safe).
And Eddie, who will never compromise his work integrity for a few Italian bigots, ends up in one of the least known and visited museums of the city. Which still, by his standards, contains fine art he can work on.
And if this particular museum, which is one hour and a half of public transport from his house, has a really hot security guard who follows him closely and barks at every tourist that tries to take a picture of his drawings, he surely won’t complain.

Steddie Week / Day 2: Fluff and Angst ( @steddie-week )
-
There’s beeping on his side as Steve slowly gains consciousness. He can hear birds chirping, and the trees dancing against the wind. Which was weird, because he remembers closing the window last night.
“Pst! Steve!”
Steve’s eyes shot open, jumping out the bed to reach for his spiked bat when he sees Eddie’s head wedged between his bedroom windows. He looks like a damn burglar.
“WHAT THE FUCK?!” Steve drops his bat, rushing to open the windows wider, “Eddie? What the hell are you doing?!”
Eddie jumps clumsily inside the bedroom, “Like a ninja!” Steve bites down laughter. If he looked as dorky as this man, he doesn’t even know why Nancy dated him.
“Why are you here?”
Eddie pokes his ribs, “Are you really asking me that?”
Steve swats his hand away, “Yes. It’s a perfectly normal question to ask when you’ve just been woken up by a man who climbed your roof.”
“Sweetheart,” Eddie sings, “We have a date.”
Steve gapes at him, “What? Was that today?”
“Yes.” Eddie laughs. There’s no hint of anger or remorse in his voice, “Go on, get ready for the day. I’ll make you some brunch.”
Rushing to get ready, Steve showers and dresses up in his favorite Levis and polo. His hair also doesn’t take him more than 5 minutes to sculpt. It’s like he’s having the luckiest damn day ever. When he finally walks out of his room, the smell of waffles and coffee spreads through his senses.
Steve sits on the counter, “I am sorry for forgetting about our date, Eds. It completely slipped my mind.”
Eddie laughs, pushing a plate of waffles in front of him, “No worries, sweetheart. You’re still healing, you deserve all the rest.”
There’s a pause as Steve squints at him.
“Healing? Healing from what?”
Eddie shakes his head, “None of that now. Eat so we can go to the carnival.”
“Carnival?” Steve perks up at the mention of a carnival, “There’s a carnival in town?”
Eddie nods, his mouth stuffed with a forkful of waffle. Steve’s always wanted to have a carnival date, but the last time the carnival was in town, Steve was too busy trying to stay alive in an underground Russian bunker.
“Yep! So get some food in you and we’ll go. We’re burning daylight here.” Eddie urges him to eat.
Steve laughs, “Slow down. The carnival won’t leave.”
Steve takes the first bite of his waffle and literally moans on the spot. The waffle melts on his mouth, a combination of sweet and soft sensations bursting.
“Oh my god.” He moans, stuffing himself another bite, “Did you freaking make this?!”
Eddie smirks, “Yes.”
“Why the hell is it so good?”
“It’s my mom’s recipe. I only pull it out for the pretty boys.”
Steve chokes on a bite, his cheeks flushing, “So I am just another pretty boy now, huh?” Eddie cackles at his reaction, pushing a glass of water his way.
There’s a twinkle of warmth in his eyes, and a smile so soft Steve knows for sure it’s only for him, “The prettiest boy.”
-
The carnival was— perfect. It had everything Steve has ever wanted to try. In a sense, it’s like everything was catered for his pleasure.
Steve looks around in wonderment, as people walk and move past them, “Dude, we should’ve bought the kids!”
There’s a sharp pain in his chest as he remembers the kids, but it's gone as quick as it came. Steve clutches his chest, chasing the pain.
Eddie looks at him, hands immediately wrapping around him in concern, “Stevie? Are you okay?”
“No. I— I just—“ He tries to straighten up and he feels… nothing, “Nothing. I think my heart skipped a beat or something.”
Eddie smirks at him, but his eyes soft with worry, “Sweetheart, I haven’t even held your hand.”
Steve feels his face heat up, “Oh, shut up.”
“Well. Which one do you want to do first? Ride some rides? Play some games?” Eddie pulls him by the hand, intertwining their hands together as they walk around the park, “You know what, I’ll win you one of those bears from one of the games!”
They spend the next few hours just playing and riding rides. They tried numerous carnival foods that Steve was never allowed to try as a kid. It's the first time Steve has actually gone to a carnival and had fun. Eddie’s loud and crass and wonderful in so many ways. He has tricks for game after game, and even if he’s scared on some rides, he still rides for Steve.
It’s the perfect date.
“Eds, you can stop trying. You’re wasting your money.” Steve whispers as Eddie hands more money to the carnival personnel.
“I am going to get you that damn bat toy and I won’t stop until my wallet is empty.” Eddie winks at him, as he squats and stares at the barrel of the water gun.
Eddie concentrates intensely as he tries to get the water to shoot on the hole. The personnel look bored as he watches them, but Steve only has eyes for Eddie. There’s pure determination on his face, squinting hard so he can finally win the damn bat toy. Steve shouldn’t have should interest on it to begin with.
The lights above it start lighting up one by one, Eddie just has to reach the top and he can finally get the stuffed toy. Steve doesn’t even realize that they won because he was only staring at Eddie.
“Jesus Christ! Finally!” Eddie grabs the bat toy from the personnel, hopping up and down with joy. His lips stretched into a huge smile, and his eyes bright with excitement.
Steve wishes he could stay in this moment forever. In this light and sparkling moment with this person that he could love— this person he might already love.
“One bat stuffed toy for your majesty.” Eddie kneels one knee, and presents the stuffed toy like it’s a bar of gold. Steve plays along, nodding ceremoniously, before taking the bat into his hand.
It’s not a bar of gold, not a crown, not a diamond. But it’s Steve’s most prized possession.
A personnel walks past them, shouting in a megaphone, “One more hour till closing!”
“The carnival’s closing?” Steve asks as Eddie straightens up.
“Apparently. You want to do one last ride?”
Steve shrugs, “Sure. I think I have…” He pauses, tries to think of what he had planned for tomorrow. Weirdly enough, he can’t think of anything.
Eddie pulls him along, “There’s one more ride I want to visit before the sun sets.”
As they walk past the stalls, the lights start flickering open. Bright, colorful lights start surrounding them. It’s not dark enough yet, but Steve knows it’ll be beautiful in the dark.
“Here!” They enter the line for the ferris wheel, which was surprisingly empty, “Come on!"
The personnel lets them in on one of the carts, smiling respectfully as he locks it, “See you on the other side.”
The wheel starts moving, slowly but surely and soon enough, they’re on the top. From where Steve is sitting he watches as people walk around the carnival like tiny little ants. The sky starts changing its colors. The bright blue, turning into a softer orange and pink.
“It’s beautiful.” Steve whispers, breathless as he sees the entirety of his hometown.
Eddie chuckles quietly beside him, reaching for his hand and taking into his, “It is.” Steve turns to him and catches his eyes on him.
The ride stops as they arrive at the top. The cart moves ever so slightly, and it feels like someone lulling him to sleep. Steve lets his head fall on Eddie’s shoulder as he watches the scene in front of him.
“Did you have fun today?” Eddie asks, his thumb softly caressing Steve’s hand.
“Yeah.” Steve sighs in content, “I think I’m going to bring Robin here tomorrow.”
A sharp pain stabs him again, the same one he felt earlier. Steve jolts up, as he clutches at his chest again, massaging it slowly, “What the hell is that?”
“I think it’s time, Steve.” Eddie says, there’s a hint of sadness in his voice.
Steve turns to him, confused, “Time for what?”
Eddie moves closer, cupping his jaw into his hand, “Time for you to wake up.”
“I am awake.” Steve pulls away, narrowing his eyes.
He shakes his head, “No, sweetheart. You have to wake up.”
The beeping is back, and Steve swings his head around to see where the sound is coming from. He gasps as he looks down at the ground, all of the people are gone now. It’s just— It’s just him and Eddie, on top of the ferris wheel.
“What’s happening?” Steve demands.
Eddie tilts his head, “You don’t remember?”
Steve shakes his head, as Eddie takes his hand again, “Here. Close your eyes.”
He gulps, but obeys. The beeping subsides.
Eddie starts talking, “We went back to the Upside Down, to finish what we started and then—“
Lights start flashing in his eyes, like thunder striking in the dark. Vines strewn everywhere in the ground.
Steve remembers screaming, lots of screaming. He remembers running in front of Robin. He remembers using all his strength, he remembers killing a monster, he remembers using his body as a shield. He remembers— he remembers pain. All around his body, like sharp pain, heightened a thousand times over. He remembers hearing sobbing and Robin begging him to stay.
He tried.
Steve gasps awake. “Robin? Is Robs okay?”
Eddie grins at him fondly, “Yes, sweetheart. Robin is alright.”
Steve looks down at his hands, “Am… I dead?” His eyes widened in realization, “Eddie? Are you dead?”
“I am not sure, sweetheart.” Eddie shrugs, “I don’t remember a lot either. I just woke up here and then— I remembered that before we went to fight Vecna, you…” Eddie laughs, his cheeks flushing, “You asked me on a date. To go to a carnival. So here I am.”
The beeping is back, and it’s louder than ever. There’s a gust of wind that brings a soft whisper, “Dingus. Please.”
“Robin’s calling me.” Steve whispers.
“I know.” Eddie says back, “You have to go back.”
“We have to go back. Together.”.
Eddie smiles at him, but it’s small and painful and Steve hates it. “I can’t hear any beeping, Stevie.”
His lips quiver, Steve starts shaking his head, “No. No. We have to go together or I am not leaving.”
Eddie holds onto him tighter, “No. You have to go back. You have to wake up.”
“Will you be there?”
Eddie blinks, pursing his lips in contemplation, “I am not sure.”
Steve clenches his jaw, swallowing the lump forming on his throat, “Are you real? Was any of this real?”
Steve looks around. The carnival is now gone. It’s just him, and Eddie and the ferris wheel. The sky is still there, watching over them in a combination of beautiful orange and pink hues. The sun is still setting, vividly and slowly. The end slowly sinking into the horizon.
Eddie giggles, “Of course, I am real, sweetheart. Everything was real.”
“Then I want to stay.”
“No, baby. You have to go back. Listen to the wind.” Eddie pulls him closer, leaning his forehead into his.
Steve lets his eyes flutter shut as the wind shakes the cart, tiny little voices being brought by the wind, tiny little pleads from Robin, Dustin, Max, Erica— from everyone. Everyone pleading and begging for him to wake up and come back.
“Can you hear it now?” Eddie asks.
Steve nods against him, as Eddie continues, “Everyone needs you. You have to go back.”
“I promise to find you. When I wake up, I will find you.” Steve promises, because there’s no way in hell he’s going to live in a world without Eddie Munson in it.
Eddie nods, there’s a look in his eyes that doesn’t fully believe it, but he says, “I’ll be waiting for you, sweetheart.”
Eddie leans over, his lips soft against Steve’s. Steve tries to map it out, tries to memorize it as best as he can. Eddie’s lips are chapped and rough, but it’s the softest and most gentle kiss Steve has ever had. He reaches over to wipe the tears streaming down Steve’s cheeks.
The beeping gets louder, insistent and— There’s a sharp pain in his chest and it feels like getting struck by lightning.
Eddie pulls away, “Wake up, sweetheart.”
There’s heaviness in his chest and then— Steve gasps, opening his eyes. It feels exactly like being drowned, and being able to finally breathe again.
“Oh my god! Steve!” He hears a voice sob. It’s a voice he would recognize anywhere.
The heaviness lifts away, and silhouettes surround him. Steve holds out his hand, and someone takes it.
“Dingus.” Robin sobs, “I thought I lost you.”
Steve can feel tears running down his cheeks. He looks around, his eyes getting used to the light. He blinks at everyone, roaming his eyes on each one of them.
He turns back to Robin and behind her is a big window. The sky is streaks of orange, the sun obviously setting. It looks exactly the same as the sky from his dreams. It was real.
Steve opens his mouth, his tongue feels heavy and sharp, but he wills himself.
“Eddie.”
(The beeping starts slowly, barely even there. The cart lulls against the wind and caresses his cheeks, with it a silent whisper of his name.
He smiles and waits.)

Belated happy birthday to @steviesbicrisis! Your bday post made me think about a steddie pride and prejudice au with a twist so this one's for you :D
(obviously this takes place in a world where gay marriage has always been completely normal. Fuck historic accuracy)
----------
Steve feels his face light up when an all-too-familiar knock sounds through the house; there's only one person in his life who tirelessly drums out the most elaborately ridiculous rhythms on the wood of the door.
Unsurprisingly, Eddie stumbles inside a moment later. Something is different, though, Steve notices that much right away. His friend doesn't barge into the room to drape himself over the couch like he usually does. Instead, he closes the door behind him and keeps standing still right in front of it.
'I have some news for you,' he says, in a strangely solemn voice.
'Is something wrong?' Steve asks, immediately worried.
'No.' Eddie shakes his head. He smiles, but it's only a weak version of his usual bright grin and it doesn’t quite reach his eyes. 'No, it's um... It's good news.' He nods, almost as if he's saying that to convince himself, and Steve feels a frown creep onto his own face.
'I'm engaged. To Keith.'
For a few seconds, Steve can do nothing but stare at him.
'Engaged?' he then stupidly repeats.
'Yes.' Eddie nods again.
'To be married?!' Steve asks urgently.
Now, Eddie rolls his eyes. 'Yes of course, Steve, what other kind of engaged is there?'
Steve feels his jaw drop. 'How– Why–'
'Oh for heavens sake, Steve,' Eddie impatiently interrupts his stuttered, unfinished questions. 'There's no earthly reason why I shouldn't accept his hand.'
'But he's – ridiculous!' Steve finally manages to spit out.
And something shifts in Eddie's posture. 'Well, not all of us can afford to be romantic,' he says with a chilly edge to his voice. ‘He's rich, he can give me a comfortable home and a reasonable position in society – I wouldn't dare ask for more.'
'Eddie,' Steve says. He doesn't even know where to start. He wants to tell Eddie exactly how much more he deserves than some gross creep, how he's betraying everything he stands for by marrying Keith, how he's signing for a life devoid of any happiness – but before he can even begin to properly phrase any of those thoughts, Eddie already narrows his eyes at him. He looks at him like a cornered animal, and Steve understands that Eddie interprets his silence not as caring, but as judging, or maybe even pity.
'I am twenty-seven years old,' Eddie says, his voice colored with a kind of forced calmness. 'I have no money and no prospects. I'm already a burden to my uncle. And I'm frightened. So don't judge me, Steve, don't you dare judge me.' Then, he resolutely turns around and opens the door.
'Eddie, wait,' Steve quickly says.
For a second, it looks like he won't listen, like he will walk away without looking back – but then, he turns his head around, and Steve sees tears glistening in his eyes.
'I – I'm not judging you. I'll respect your choice, even if I don't understand it. Don't cry, please.' He knows it's a useless thing to do, telling people not to cry, but he hates seeing this look on Eddie's face. It makes his hands itch with the desire to hold him.
'I’m just... You caught me off-guard. I didn't know you were interested in marriage all of a sudden.'
'Why does it matter?' Eddie asks with an arched eyebrow. 'Were you planning on asking me if I was?'
And that question, phrased in such a sarcastic way, paired with the defensive look in Eddie's eyes... The insinuation of how truly preposterous that would be feels exactly how Steve would imagine getting stabbed in the heart would feel like.
It makes him realize that he has nothing left to lose. Eddie will walk out of that door – maybe they'll make up, maybe they won't, but their friendship will never be the same as before Eddie got engaged to Keith.
'What would you say if I was?'
Eddie stares at him. He opens his mouth, then closes it again.
Steve just stands there, waiting, until the surprise on Eddie's face makes place for something more unreadable.
'Don't be ridiculous now, Steve.'
'Is it truly that much more ridiculous than you marrying Keith?'
'Are you seriously asking me to marry you only to keep me away from Keith?'
'No, I –' Steve pauses; he wishes he would have had time to think about what to say. It feels like his words won't ever be able to do his feelings justice.
'I have loved you for years, Eddie,' he finally admits. 'And if you truly want to marry Keith, I won't try to change your mind. But I can't let you go without telling you the truth.'
Eddie's eyes widen as he lets the words sink in with a shocked look on his face.
'You love me?' he repeats in a slightly raspy voice.
Steve nods, only to be met with more silence, as the clock on the wall ticks away the seconds.
'You don't have to say anything. I just needed you to know.'
'Steve... Is this a goddamn proposal or not?'
'I don't know.'
'You don't know?!'
'I mean, it isn't – I don't think it is.’ Steve stumbles through the words. ‘I don't want you to choose me because I'm richer, or – or better-looking than Keith... I only want to marry for love, and I'm not as arrogant to expect you to feel the same way about me.'
'Oh, Steve...' The shock on Eddie's face melts away, softening his features and making the look in his eyes gentler.
'You don't need to pity me.’
'No, no way, I'm not pitying you,' Eddie answers. He takes two big steps towards Steve, wraps his hands around Steve's. They're warm and familiar and making him miss what he can't have even stronger.
'If I had known... Stevie, I would've never said yes to Keith, it's not even close to a competition. If I had known I could have you, all this time... I never even thought I'd stand a chance. You're probably the most perfect person I know, and I'm, well, just Eddie.'
'Oh, we need to work on your self-esteem, baby.' The pet name slips out of Steve's mouth before he can help it, and it brings that beaming bright smile to Eddie's face; the smile that Steve loves so much.
He feels Eddie’s hands slide around his waist and they rest their foreheads together, both breathing shakily, trying desperately not to let their emotions overpower them.
'Does this mean that we're engaged now?' Steve finally manages to ask; his voice is shaking but he needs to hear it. He needs to be sure that he indeed gets to hold the man in front of him for the rest of their lives.
Eddie utters a tearful chuckle. 'I suppose I have another wedding to cancel first.'

i feel like modern!eddie would be the type of boyfriend to randomly take pictures of you
just when he thinks you look pretty or you’re doing something to make him laugh and he wants to remember it
and he has a whole album in his phone full of candid pictures of you (half of which you probably don’t even know about) and he looks through it whenever he’s missing you
+
there’s a very different set of pictures of you in his hidden album that he looks through when he’s really missing you

And this is the end!
10 years of drawing and I truly can't believe it, basically this is quite a shock!
Thank you so much for every person that encouraged me, gave me the idea of doing this side blog! And basically, being a companion during very sad days that lead me here!
Thank you so so much!

Eedie as the cook yes!!!! I love it. She takes a keen interest really! Watching daddy cook! And i bet she has her own apron, sth idk a hat or a band for thr hair and ovenmitts and children sized kitchen utensils. I also think she loves baking! Bba
Oh she absolutely has a toy kitchen of her own! I’m also thinking she has one of those toy grocery baskets that come up with cardboard boxes of cereal and plastic fruit and everything! She’s the little chef going shopping for her restaurant and Eddie is the cashier.
Or mom is the cashier, and Eddie and Lizzie are the chef and sous chef shopping for a very important and fancy meal they’re gonna cook at their pretend restaurant 😌

Eddie and Steve were out for a nice walk with their toddler. Steve was walking ahead of them as he recently got into bird watching. Eddie was holding onto his daughter's hand when she tugged on his pants.
Eddie: You want up, sweetheart? *picks up Lizzie* Oh, why the hell are you so heavy? Steve?!
Steve: Check her pull-up.
Eddie: Okay. What the hell, Lizzie? Your diaper is full of rocks. Steve, our child put rocks in her goddamn diaper!
Lizzie: *cackles*
Eddie: My odd little rock collecting lizard.

(Okay this is turning into a summer series thingy because the idea of Steddie exploring Rome together while making Lizzie McGuire references makes me HAPPY)
Eddie: but wait, if you are italo american, do you still get an Italian clone? or is it an American clone?
Steve: what
Eddie: yeah you know, like Lizzie and Isabella
Steve: People don't have italian clones, Eddie
Eddie: WHAT THE FUCK
Steve: For the millionth time, Lizzie McGuire the Movie it's not an accurate representation of Italy-
Eddie: You take that back.
Robin, coming in: I've been looking for you, dingus
Eddie: ...
Eddie: OMG HERE'S YOUR CLONE!!
Steve: SHE'S NOT MY CLONE!
Robin, who has no clue what’s going on: he’s actually my clone
Eddie: ah yes, makes sense
Steve: I give up
Eddie, sighing: I can't wait to meet mine
