You’re telling me there’s a BBC period drama television series with Cillian Murphy and Matthew Macfadyen that I’ve never heard of??
I know that the novel this is based on was written by a man, but the screenplay was written by the man who gave us the Colin Firth 1995 Pride and Prejudice, and these characters are being played by men who are literally written for women, so my question is - how did people survive this???
Tumblr media
I want to say ‘it’s the sideburns for me’ but I genuinely just am so floored that this exists. There is no time for jokes.
I guess I know what I’m doing this week, then.

Ahh, I’m not sure if the first ask I sent abt ch.5 got through (it was just my initial reaction/saying how AMAZING your fluff is LMAO) But I’ll just repeat what I said as I share more #thoughts hehe
Ahh!! Another banger!! I really love that peeta and sweet girl have connected :’)… but at what cost 🚬😔.. I feel so bad for finnick bc ofc peeta and sweet girl bonded at the capitol, which is why they are confiding in each other now. But it must be so painful to see his sweet girl, someone he’s known/loved since he was a kid, not only be hijacked and distrust him, but also be vulnerable with someone else💔
BUT RAHH🦅🦅!! The fluffy moment between him and reader was SO CUTEE!! I said it in my og ask, but ur fluff is ADORABLE!! The scene where he kisses her face reminded me of the “Mrs. Darcy” scene from pride and prejudice 🥹 And the moment between them in the flashback scene omg💔💔 the orpheus myth comparison? OUCHIE (shoutout hadestown) the way the helplessness he felt watching her games parallels his current situation, ITS TRAGICC
And pls all finnick wants is to give his sweet girl a real wedding, and they have to do a propo one :((( like the circumstances aren’t ideal, but at least they get to have a say in it? Regardless i CANT WAIT TO READ IT AHHH
As always, love ur writing and I can’t wait to read more of ur works🫶🫶
-🦅
no I don't think it did 😭😭😭 tumblr ate it up
literally poor finnick just wants to take care of his sweet girl and she now finds comfort talking to someone else, she's trauma bonded with someone else and he doesn't want it to hurt the way he does. but he misses her trust, her attention, her love, all of it.
when y'all like my fluff I'm literally blushing, giggling, kicking my feet because I'm always so insecure about it 🤗 and I literally love pride & prejudice, it wasn't intentional but it's so cute, kisses everywhere. but the pookies are so orpheus and eurydice, I adore hadestown, but like wedding song is so them, him encouraging her of their future and the positives, aaaaaaa I love them
finnick just wants to be back home, buy her a ring, a dress, give her a white wedding that she deserves and it's always being thrwarted. honestly he'd have a third one for that he just loves her sm and thinks she deserves sm.
I'm get so excited when I see you on my ask box so I'm excited to see whatever you'll have to say 💋💋💋

April Reading Recap
so apparently I read a fuckton in April. I put that on the week off for Passover and also a number of very fast reads last month. here goes
The Spite House by Johnny Compton. Might be the best horror book I'd read in a while, and I did not see the twist coming for a long while. Good and very spooky on the whole, but the "creepy kids as ghosts" thing took some of the luster off it. Still, some good and original ideas here and I'll be watching for more books by this author.
The Nine Eyes of Lucien by Madeleine Roux. Not very good writing and a good third of the book was rehashing the events of the end of Campaign 2, which I just watched. It was fine, I guess? But I didn't find it added much.
The Red Tent by Anita Diamant. I've had this one on my list for literal years - it's a retelling of the Biblical story of Dinah, Jacob's one daughter. I kind of wish I'd read it sooner, when (a) I was less burned out on retellings/reinterpretations of familiar stories, and (b) when I would've been less bothered by the flavor of gender essentialism of the text and could have appreciated other things about it without getting stuck in feeling iffy about that. I am trying to work out why it bothers me so much that Diamant chose to change the reading of the text from (an implied) rape to a consensual love affair, and I'm not quite sure I can explain that.
It's an interesting book and I'm glad I read it but I don't think I'd recommend it without disclaimers; I think in some ways it's more interesting as an artifact of the cultural movement it comes out of than anything else. Would analyze in a class about Jewish feminist responses to stories in Tanakh (or Talmud, tbh).
Six Myths of Our Time: Little Angels, Little Monsters, Beautiful Beasts and More by Marina Warner. Fascinating collection of short essays originally given as lectures on the BBC, apparently - the one essay about the way the West conceptualizes the simultaneous purity/monstrosity of children was particularly interesting to me. Interesting piece of work I picked up totally by happenstance because it was short and looked interesting and it lived up to both qualities.
Gallows Hill by Darcy Coates. Good spooky horror recommended by @cigaretteburnslikefairylights and actually legit scared me in places, which doesn't happen all that often to me anymore when I'm reading horror. (I'm still a weenie watching it.) I actually...liked this one start to resolution and am going to be looking up more of Darcy Coates' writing, because if it's not, you know, doing something super ~innovative~ it is good spooky reading and that's really what I've been craving.
Krakatoa: The Day the World Exploded by Simon Winchester. Reading this book was a weird experience. I went into it just thinking "ooh, book about an interesting natural disaster, I love volcanoes" and came out of it going "whoa, surprise Islamophobia," checked the publication date, and learned it was 2003, whereupon I was miserably unsurprised. I don't know why the author felt like he needed to make colonial apologetics and blame the post-eruption upheaval on Islamic fundamentalists manipulating the natives into uprising against their Dutch masters but apparently he did. (I'm exaggerating. But not that much.)
The geology stuff was interesting. Mr. Winchester should've stuck with that and the reportage of the eruption itself and left politics out of it.
Violent Phenomena: 21 Essays on Translation ed. by Kavita Bhanot & Jeremy Tiang. This might be my favorite book I read in April, honestly. It's a really good collection of essays about the concept of decolonizing translation, and what that means, and whether it's possible, and the uneasy and uncomfortable relationship between translation and imperialism. I didn't agree with all the essays in here, and they didn't necessarily all agree with each other, but all of them at least had something interesting to say. I would recommend this one to people who can find it - it's by a small press - who are interested in translation or who frequently read in translation. The writers have a lot to say that I think is worth thinking about.
She Is a Haunting by Trang Thahn Tran. I think I just need to give up reading YA books with the realization they're generally not for me, though this one almost had me. It's something about the...I know there's a range of styles, I can't generalize style across the genre, but there is a texture to YA writing that doesn't quite work for me.
I love the concept - diaspora horror, colonialist horror, some really fucked up body horror stuff that got surprisingly gruesome - and would love to read a slightly different book about it, but alas, that book wasn't this one.
American Midnight: Democracy's Forgotten Crisis, 1917-1921 by Adam Hochschild. Another contender for favorite book I read this month though I think this one loses out to Violent Phenomena and possibly Gallows Hill, though comparing horror fiction to historical nonfiction feels kind of unfair. Anyway, I knew some of what this book was digging into - the Sedition Act and the intensely violent repression that was going on in the United States during World War I - but I learned a lot more here.
The depressing thing about reading this, though, was watching (so to speak) the brutal crushing of a once fairly robust American Socialist Party such that it never recovered. Not to mention the grinding down of the labor movement, which I think was at its most powerful during this period of time and hasn't been as strong since.
Just looking at that and wondering what might've been if Woodrow Wilson wasn't such a fucking dick.
Elektra by Jennifer Saint. I feel so funny about this book. I read another mythology retelling even though I swore not to because a Tumblr user I respect mentioned it being good; my experience was that it wasn't bad and it didn't actively bother me like some other retellings I could name, but I don't know that I'd actually call it good. Mostly I'd say I wasn't annoyed, just uninspired.
Of the three narrators, Elektra was definitely the best, and I really did like the construction of her relationship with Clytemnestra, which really felt like the meat of the book. (Perhaps, considering the House of Atreus, that's a bad turn of phrase to use.) The Cassandra sections felt like a distraction, mostly a way to keep the reader up with what was going on across the sea and provide some action in between the familial drama. Ultimately I just felt like those sections took away from the Elektra/Clytemnestra dynamic, leaving insufficient meat.
Fuzz: When Nature Breaks the Law by Mary Roach. I went through a period of time where I was reading all of Mary Roach's books, and was kind of obsessed with them, so this was sort of returning to an old and familiar friend. I found I wasn't quite as enamored with this one as I remembered being of some of her others (I think I remember Stiff being my favorite), but it was an interesting look at the intersections between human and animal - which is really more what this is about than law, per se. It's about what we do when animals cause problems for humans, from monkeys to bears, and the questions that are raised about the best way to handle those issues.
Nero: Matricide, Music, and Murder in Imperial Rome by Anthony Everitt & Roddy Ashworth. I'm so confused by this book. From the insistence on referring to Nero as "princeps" throughout the book, to the random dropping of French in places it really didn't need to be, to the frankly credulous approach to the sources, particularly when it comes to sex, even when the author mentioned how sex is often a proxy for politics in Roman historical writing, the weird sideways digression into "did Rome have gay marriage?", the weird "maybe she got what she deserved" aside about Messalina's death...
I learned a fair amount, I can say that, I'm not as knowledgeable about this period's Julio-Claudians. Frankly I think Agrippina (the Younger) was the real star of this book, despite Anthony Everitt's heroic efforts to make Nero the protagonist. Buddy, I see your point, but you're pushing a little too hard here.
Anyway. Weird reading experience, I'm tempted to recommend it just so someone else can either validate it or go "what are you talking about, this was a perfectly normal history book."
---
woof long post, but hey it was a lot of books. currently reading A Fever in the Heartland for more American racism in the early 20th century. I have a stack of library books that are waiting for me and I think the next one is probably going to be The Social Lives of Animals, which will either be really enjoyable or annoy the hell out of me, possibly both.

ahaha i just watched MoM :)
here are my fresh thoughts on it
visually, the film is stunning. the thing about doctor strange films is that the film production is absolutely allowed to go ham with the cinematography. mystical shit, bitch, absolutely weird. it was why the first was my favorite, and why i anticipated this one (probably not as much as i did for nwh, but what can i say lmao spiderman funny i am tired college freshman epic !!!)
like some of my favorite shots or scenes were definitely homages to horror films. the reflection/mirror dimension parts going for the ring, and the tunnel chase scene being what i think is an homage to the shining (?). a lot of those are scattered throughout MoM, and i thought those were really cool. thank u mr raimi
however
plot-wise? not good.
uhhh
lemme just narrow it down to some points,
wherein the screenwriters, evidently,:
did NOT pick up on the nuances of stephen and christine's pre-canon lovers-to-friends arc in his first film
surely, only solely watched the what if? series to put in the concept of strange feeling more romantic love than he actually did in the mcu (to be fair, ol' cabbagepatch really sells it well, it's the VA expertise in him)
did NOT watch wandavision,
OR took away from it the idea that wanda only became a... questionably redeemable villain. yknow, after she took down a witch who would only hoard and harness her powers to herself without the guarantee of westview being set free
ignored the fact that wanda herself imposed seclusion and self-exile after westview, because That is how she learned to let go and so that she wouldnt hurt anyone anymore
DEFINITELY ignored the fact that people like monica, darcy, and jimmy acknowledged that she was at the peak of her grief, and knew she was ultimately good underneath all of that
kinda forgot about billy and tommy's powers, and how if they had used them against the scarlet witch in defense by the end, it would likely still make the point they wanted it to
uhhh once again denied a character who has suffered throughout her life even the tiniest sliver of a redemption arc OR real mental help that can be talked about. she doesnt visibly come out of there alive, there's no small seconds of her facing justice but getting proper healing and adjustment that she needed. they literally said that the darkhold (if i am spelling it right, edits abound) corrupts the user. ok, and as the scarlet witch, a literal nexus being, one of the most powerful people out there, couldnt be given the chance to gradually overcome that by the end?,, what is the point of establishing her as a key figure if she justs becomes the big bad to be vanquished at the end of the day?
also lol skipped over mordo being "the guy that tries to kill doctor strange every now and again", like he didnt have a large role in the first film
and many other weak points that may come to mind later on
so, basically, you mean to tell me that throughout all of wanda maximoff's life in the mcu, she never gets another channel for her grief, and that is how exactly she dies? her story doesn't become one of those that essentially say, you get to carve your own destiny and your position or actions or whatever people say dont make you completely evil. no, no, it doubles down on the fact that she's a wicked woman, or turned into one because she lost her kids.
also its crazy because.. idk if it's the angry wanda stan in me right now just after watching the movie, but i cannot remember what stephen's role was. was his arc set on becoming the guardian and mentor for america chavez? was it another lesson for him on how actions have consequences and so does his pride? or was it solely hinged on love and want for christine? hm. he's the titular character.
great cg tho thats what im saying, and all these actors still bring all theyve got to the table despite the weak script.
honestly, way back at the beginning before more details of the film's production were announced, i thought mordo would be the antagonist. y'know, because they alluded to that in the first film's end credits scenes AND because he just is in the comics. like he'd do something or find a way to fuck up sorcerers and magic in the multiverse, because he literally said "no more sorcerers" or smth like that after his disillusionment with the ancient one, so it would be up to a doctor strange/scarlet witch teamup to stop him. and ofc wanda and stephen could have their debate on who's more villainized and why, but still have them be on the same ground. you would expect wanda to be tempted by mordo, with the promise of her children or universes where she's with them and her husband and her brother, but she wouldnt be the total rushed villain and redemption would at least still be on the table. stuff like that, yknow.
:))
but no. that is not what happened, indeed.
(altho john krasinski as reed richards is cool in concept. it fits, and id like to see more of him in that role ngl.
sir patrick stewart as professor x... definitely done dirty with his quick death [as is the case with all members of the illuminati, why are they in charge if they can get taken out like that] but otherwise extremely cool to show his impact And his powers. you could feel that he's got the heart when he went into wanda's mind for a bit. i personally havent watched the x-men films in his and sir ian mckellen's era, and yet somehow because ive got flashes of knowing about it from childhood i get to feel like ive missed him. thats fun)
so did i enjoy it? kinda, yea. a 6-7/10
would i watch it again? only for the sheet music battle scene because i want to properly hear the soundtrack to see how it fits the moment.
otherwise, no. i'd rather rewatch the first doctor strange film, wandavision, and any other fan fix-its.

Longing Glances from Across the Dance Floor
Eddie Munson x Reader
w/c: 900-ish
Warnings: mention of sexual themes.
series masterlist
Tumblr media
“You guys could be less boring and pick on literally anyone else.”
Everyone’s head whips in your direction, your arms folded over your chest holding your prized copy of Pride and Prejudice. Jason rounds on you, his brows lifted in amusement.
“You finally pull your nose out of that book long enough to notice the world around you, worm?”
Jason turns back to his friends, a couple of them chuckling. Eddie watches the exchange with rapt attention. His savior, Athena in a wool sweater, you didn’t look like you had so much fight in you.
“I did, and-- quick question, did it hurt when Chrissy forcefully removed you from her ass?” You spit back.
You found it, the magic button to make Jason shut the fuck up. He falters, fucking flounders, his mouth trying to make words his brain isn’t fast enough to formulate.
A bean pole of a freshman kid pipes up from the table. “Look, the methane inhalation from sniffing Chrissy's farts has finally rendered him brain dead!”
The cafeteria erupts in laughter, your own smile tugging at the corners of your lips as Jason’s mouth shuts, his jaw locking in rage. There's a stare down, the unmistakable heat of embarrassment creeping up his neck and into his cheeks, turning them a near neon shade of pink. He shoves past you, his entourage following, and the applause that you get from Eddie’s table makes your own face feel warm.
Of course, Eddie’s mouth is too dry to thank you, his eyes glued to the way your skirt stretches over your hips. He follows the curves upward, until his eyes meet yours and he looks away- chastising himself internally for getting caught.
You duck your head once the roar dies down, will yourself back into being wallflower, and make for a deserted table. The brown bag lunch you pull out of your backpack picked over while your well loved book fits your nose right back between its pages.
You don’t see the way Eddie watches you across the room, don’t hear him kicking himself for not being able to talk to you, don’t hear the pudgy freshman poking fun at him for getting all doe eyed about being stood up for and the subsequent choking noises. Elizabeth Bennet has just refused Mr. Darcy’s engagement proposal and even though you know all the words and their placement on the page, you can’t help but get wrapped back up by Jane Austen’s comforting cadence.
On the other side of the cafeteria Eddie is picking at his school lunch, so nauseous he swears there are bats flying around in his stomach, tearing up the lining and trying to claw their way up his throat.
He feels like that all throughout fifth and sixth period, headway on his studying for finals stalled as thoughts of you invaded his mind. His fingers itched to find out what that sweater felt like as he slid it up your torso, what you might be hiding under it.
It wasn’t until after eighth period and right before the final bell that he managed to find you at your locker and work up the courage to speak to you. He leans a shoulder against the cold metal, the leather of his jacket squeaking against it and he swears he’s under a bright spotlight the minute your eyes focus on him.
“Hey, I just uh- wanted to say thank you for sticking up for me at lunch. It was uh- really cool of you.”
That soft smile he likes so much returns to your face, your book tucked protectively under your arms as they cross back over your chest. He wonders if you’re using it to protect yourself, protect your heart.
“I just– I don’t get why it has to be you.”
He doesn’t understand, the pinch of his eyebrows tells you as much and you can feel the words jumbling together in your mouth.
“I just mean that I don’t understand why, out of like– everyone, they have to pick on you.”
He’s touched, his gaze falling to his sneakers.
“It’s the way I look,” he mutters, but you catch them before his words hit the ground.
“That doesn’t make sense either. Just because you look all tough and handsome with your leather and cool denim vest and not all stuck up with their stupid lettermans jackets and stupid quaffed hair, they have to prove some kind of male alpha bravado bullshit? I hate it. I hate highschool.”
“You think I’m handsome?” His chest puffs just the smallest bit, his bitten fingers pushing a few curls behind his ear.
You have to mentally shuffle back through your words to figure out that, “Yeah, I guess I do.”
His own arms cross over his chest, mirroring your own as he stands up to his full height. His palms have started sweating and he has to hide them or you’ll find out that your compliment has done something to him. He smiles down at you, sucking his plush bottom lip between his teeth as he takes you in from the bottom up.
“Well, then I guess thank you.”
“Eddie, lets go!” One of the guys from his lunch table calls for him.
The corner of his mouth fights the curl upward, trying to suppress a smile as you try to stamp down your own. He takes step after step backward, jerking his thumb in the direction of his friends.
“I gotta go, but maybe you could sit with us tomorrow at lunch? Might be better than a table by yourself.”
He nearly trips over a sophomore, righting himself before he falls, that I can get away with anything smile cracking wide against his cheeks.
“I’ll think about it,” you coyly call after him.
He gives you a nod, giving you a small wave before he’s engulfed by the Hellfire Club, a couple of them sending glances your way.

Hejka ( ノ^ω^)ノ
Since I can bother you with questions and statements, I have a question for you 🫵🏻
Which fictional character (and why) do you see as your platonic soulmate?
Have a nice weekend! 💖
Hejo <3
Thank you so much for the unexpected ask.
This is a tough question to be honest, because there are so many blorbos that come to my mind. My top 3 fictional besties at the moment are:
3. Kenma Kozume from Haikyuu - playing games together is my love language. It would be a challenge to have a conversation about anything other then video games but fear not, that's a topic that can last for a really really long time.
2. Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudges - Lizzy is one od those characters that make me said: it's literally me. I think we have similar personality and interest. We could talk for hours about life, people and books. I would have to stop being a mr. Darcy simp ofc but I could do it for her.
1. Nico di Angelo form The Percy Jackson series - being a nerd - ✔; being emo and edgy - ✔; being just a little bit chaotic at heart - ✔. As I said playing games of any kind is my love language but card games are on whole another level. We could play dnd together and order macdonald's after aka spent the most quality time there is. Nico was my favorite PJO character since I was a kid and he still holds the title today.

ok so i just finished heartstopper s2 and I AM CRYING AND I DONT KNOW IF IM HAPPY OR SAD AND I THINK IM SO FUCKING HAPPY. i need to talk abt every single part of this so if you don’t want spoilers don’t click for more (and if you haven’t seen it yet GO WATCH NOW U WILL NOT REGRET)
ok first of all TAOELLE what the fuck i LOVE them so much and tao learning more abt himself and digging deep into his own life. and can we not forget abt how much of a STUPID he was when he asks elle out like we love you tao (and i mean stupid in the kindest possible way, tao means so much to me as a character)
and ELLE oh my god. first of all she’s so fucking talented like of course she was gonna get into lambert there was no question. and NAOMI AND FELIX ugh they are just the best
and then nick and charlie!!!!!!!!!!! they were the best this season, and joe and kit have also matured so much as actors, i can see it! i DIED at the end of the ep where charlie sees the hickey i was literally rolling on the floor laughing and then nicks reaction the next episode was priceless. and nick being SUCH a a good boyfriend i love him so much. he is the best
and the series portrays everything about mental health so well and sensitively and also without beating around the bush, alice oseman and euros lyn and everyone are absolute rockstars
and now i need to talk about isaac—alice was not kidding when they said they had big asexual plans for isaac. it meant so much to see that on a screen, i’ve never seen asexuality portrayed in a show like this. and isaac learning abt it from that artist and then getting the book from the library tobie really did such a fucking great job
and new characters!!! SAHAR!!!!!!!!!!!!! i love her so much she really is a beautiful human
and the SONGS. colors of you got screen time this season!! and we can be anything!!!! and the pretty girl lie!!!!!!!!!! if you can’t tell i fucking love baby queen!! and then at the end there was seven by taylor swift!! i cried when i heard it and there was no going back from that, it’s literally my fav song!! and it fit tara and darcy so well for the end
OH and i almost forgot NATHAN AND YOUSSEF. MR AJAYI AND MR FAROUK. i was looking forward to their story SO MUCH leading up to the release date and i was NOT FUCKING DISAPPOINTED. they fucking delivered man. they are the SWEETEST I LOVE THEM SO MUCH
i think that’s it for now but i will be back for more talking abt heartstopper i cannot get enough of it. def a rewatch or 34
also i am not proofreading this extremely long midnight rant so have fun with the inevitable typos :)

Semi spoilery ramble about the Mr Darcy & Miss Tilney Mysteries:
OK right so I read The Murder of Mr Wickham like when it came out last year and I finished The Late Mrs Willoughby yday and!! I still love both oc main characters and have never been more frustrated by an ending as I have been w TLMW bc I was so desperate for them to just!!! Confess their feelings!!!
Also more than anything I kind of love the fact that it's a deconstruction of the Magical Autistic Detective Trope. Literally the last thing I expected these books to be but it's like top 3 reasons why this book is so good.
Esp bc it's set when autism just... wasn't understood to be a thing, it's shown to be hard for Jonathan!! He doesn't have magical powers, he has special interests in mostly obscure stuff! People are mean to him or confused by him or don't understand him and he is just convinced that he's never going to have friends who he can ever really be himself around.
And like there have not been many scenes that made me more visceral uncomfortable that the bit in book 2 when he's at a dinner party and one of his old schoolmates clocks that he has a crush, and intentionally asks him abt his special interest so he'll humiliate himself by going on and on about it without noticing. Like I felt that IN MY BONES I think we all have an experience like that if we don't mask carefully enough.
Sometimes Juliet gives neurodivergent vibes too, she just seems to be more adept at masking so it's less obvious to the reader, herself, and everyone else. Like Jonathan is semi regularly overwhelmed and frequently, sometimes unconsciously stims by rocking, and his parents and everyone around him have just convinced him there's something wrong with him.
Juliet has moments where the mask slips and she's blunt and is totally unaware of the unspoken social dance happening around her and she's like huh society's a fucking weird place wish it made more sense. Ah well. Alas.
I think the author does the Canon Austen characters brilliantly too!! I know some ppl have said that Fanny and Edmund annoyed them in book 1 but honestly (and this may be bc I'm a Mansfield Park girlie) I loved them and I loved the way their story paralleled their book! Fanny is right and Edmund comes to realise that is basically what it's about, and Fanny's strength of character beneath all her difficulties being assertive is basically the best thing about her.
Loved the Knightleys. Hilarious. Thought Emma was going to eat him mid way through the book and not in a good way, so; accurate. Darcy and Lizzie not communicating, her misunderstanding and being annoyed at him, him thinking his stoicism is going to help them through a hard time when actually it's isolated them from each other - nice parallel, like it.
I felt endlessly bad for Wentworth and Anne, hope they come back all better in a future book.
Honestly loved Brandon and Marianne, I felt like they were very true to their book characters.
Anyway my very fervent hope is that next book we get a Lady Susan Cameo, an icon, truly That Bitch. Or maybe they go to Sanditon idk, give me some resolution for that squad.
Got the vibe that maybe Juliet is going to Bath at some point in the near future. So I wonder who she'll meet then. I mean obviously Jonathan bc fate wants them to fall in love and get married and she can teach their kids how to climb trees and he can teach them the piano, but who else!!
Book only just came out and I'm hype for the next one but honestly it ended on a cliffhanger for them!! I want them to be friends again! No juliet he does like you he just can't make eye contact and doesn't like other people touching him!! I want them to meet again and solve idk the fucking stabbing of Sir Walter Elliot or Aunt Norris or Mr Elton!
And also comes their feelings the agony of not knowing kills me lol.
11/10 no notes. Well. Many notes but all of them good!!

kinda new to the tai... fandom why tf are we shipping mike carden with kevin jonas
My time has come.
okay first of all hi!!!! welcome, its small but cozy in here!
The short answer is there isn't any reason beyond it being funny, they never met or anything. They do technically have a tenuous connection in that TAI's former tour manager and TAITV star, Tony Marino, left them to work for the Jonas Brothers but that's it.
The long answer is that a livejournal user called skoosiepants posted this Stargate Atlantis TAI/Jonas Brothers AU that is like really good you know, for being a Stargate Atlantis TAI/Jonas Brothers AU.
Mike/Kevin is called "Skippy" because that's what Mike calls Kevin in that fic.
I think it got so popular because of how bizarre the pairing was, Mike was usually characterized as sort of the heal of TAI fics, frequently a violent alcoholic and almost always an asshole and now he was paired up with Disney kid Kevin Jonas with his purity ring?
Their juxtaposition is the other reason I think it became a thing, Kevin is sort of the classic romantic heroine, virginal and naive but headstrong and Mike is the classic romantic hero, not quite as intellectual as Mr. Darcy, he's just as brooding, and has the whole "asshole to everyone but you" thing going on.
Overall, I think its pretty cute! There is something very romantic to me about people writing hundreds of stories about two people who never met falling in love but that's the horribly earnest part of me, at the end of the day it is literally Mike Carden and Kevin Jonas.

I know she's not much of a character beyond "sweet beloved dead wife," but what is your take on Lysandra, the Spartan wife of Kratos? It came to me because I had this idea that Lysandra, as a good Spartan woman, would probably not get along with Faye at any level
That's an interesting thought! I firstly like to imagine she would like Faye just because 1. I need to see Kratos catch a goddamn break & be happy with his wives & kids!! Omg. & 2. I think she's a little unconventional as far as Spartans go, and 3. For her characterization & interactions in game, it kinda depends on how we navigate cultural, historical, & mythological accuracy in terms of correlation with the game series' canon, which takes a LOT of artistic license for all. If we're being strictly historically accurate & assume Lysandra is a good Spartan woman, I think you'd be right!
But with Lysandra herself, I say she's "unconventional" as a Spartan just because of some of her actions & the way she is in the games: when Calliope is seen to be sick when she's born, Lysandra reacts by refusing the throw Calliope off Mount Taygetos & instead demands she be given a chance to live so Kratos find a cure for her, but a more "proper" Spartan wife & mother might've reacted by letting Calliope die. Additionally, Lysandra also is the one to tell Kratos to his face that he was being too crazed & violent when he was serving under Ares, despite being a very successful Spartan General & doing it under the command of a literal war God. So in the very least, this lets us know that Lysandra is more than willing to go against Spartan custom, especially regarding her family. To me, in addition to being a kind person & loving & devoted wife/mother, she's a very independent & outspoken person who doesn't care much about what people think of her & doesn't have a problem with telling people what she thinks of THEM. Lysandra is a tough lady, maybe a little intimidating. She's the cookie monster pjs girl in high school. I imagine she's also very sexually liberated as well, & I headcanon that she met Kratos when they were younger & convinced their parents (usually who set up arranged marriages, which was the norm) to let them marry.
& as her possible feelings towards Faye & their resulting family dynamic, I think it could even depend on the time period for Lysandra and Faye? Like, afterlife wise, I don't imagine they'd have anything to beef over (assuming they're in a happy afterlife & have reconciled with the events in their lives, which seems to be canon), they're already dead & have lived their lives, & both loved Kratos, so I imagine they'd at least both appreciate that about each other. Like, "well, I loved my husband, he loved me, and he must've loved you for a very good reason, so I'll try to get along with you." As for their kids, I actually think they'd LOVE each others' kids as well in any scenario, & they'd probably be a big reason why they'd try to get along.
I've also thought about this with Kratos & Faye, because I actually thought they were going to meet (or there was going to be a reference to her) in the Egyptian era comic, & that was when Kratos was still a VERY different person vs the Norse era. There was a lot of time between gow3-4 for him to improve as a person (which I think he did a lot on his own, I don't think Faye singlehandedly "fixed" him, but she definitely helped) and ruminate on his actions. Like if gow3 Kratos met a younger Faye, I don't think they'd initially like each other at ALL. He'd obviously be attracted to her, but I imagine he'd still be in his Spartan mindset that Northern peoples are "barbarian" or generally not as good as Spartans & probably see her kindness as naïvete, she'd think he was a mean asshole all around & would probably hate being around him & would never in the world imagine marrying him ("you are the last man in the world I could ever be prevailed upon to marry" Elizabeth Bennet chewing out Mr Darcy type shit). But I could still imagine them getting together, it would just have to be WAY later & either the slowest burn in the universe or separating & then meeting each other again in the Norse era & THEN falling in love lol
So in terms of Lysandra, depending on the setting & situation, it could be the same deal as above? If Lysandra was somehow alive & met Faye pre-Norse gow4 era, it might be the same as above with gow3 Kratos. However, I could also see Lysandra in the very least being impressed with Faye's abilities and combat skills & going "okay I see why he likes you" sort of way, probably also feel a lot of sympathy for her since Atreus was sick all the time, & think Faye was a good mother. If in some kind of setting where Lysandra would be alive & Kratos married Faye as well (or even just slept with her), best case scenario, if we assume Lysandra keeps that very Spartan mindset, then I imagine it would be something like an extremely awkward relationship similar to the Triss/Yennefer/Geralt (complete with the Raven haired lady vs redhead aspect) love triangle from the Witcher, but tolerating each other for their kids & Kratos. I like to think she'd eventually like Faye at least to some degree (they do seem to have some stuff in common), but it'd be weird & tense, maybe some jealousy there. Worst case scenario we'd probably end up with a Ragnar/Lagertha/Aslaug from Vikings dynamic LOL.
But the Norse & gow4/5 era setting changes EVERYTHING. if Lysandra was alive during gow4/5 & changed in a similar way Kratos did (becoming more open minded & not xenophobic) or if we assume that Lysandra is not a conventional Spartan (which gives her possible reactions to Faye more leeway, dead or alive), then I think her relationship with Faye would be a LOT better. Lysandra loves Kratos & wanted him to make better choices & forgive himself, so once/if she realizes that's precisely what Faye helped him to do & made him happy, I think she'd appreciate that about her. Not only that, but the game devs have said that Kratos's ashes are FADING, possibly because of the gesture of Faye getting Kratos to come to terms with her death by asking him to spread HER ashes & going on the adventure. That, I think, would absolutely cement Lysandra's respect for Faye, in addition to admiring her combat ability & her care for Atreus. & from there we could get the Fayetosandra polycule development lol. (& in an afterlife setting, this is what I think she thinks of her)
So yeah, I guess it really depends!! But that's just my thought on her. There's really no way of knowing how she'd react to Faye for sure since she died before they could ever meet, so any setting you put them in would have to be an AU, & there's a lot of factors for that depending on what kind. And unfortunately, we don't have a lot to go off of for Lysandra in the first place (which sucks). Great question!!

This is my top 10 characters in Heartstopper in order from 1-10 of who i like the most and why. This is based on me reading all of Heartstopper, Nick and Charlie, and Solitaire. This is also purely based on the comic characters and not the show. If you don’t agree that’s ok :) (unless it’s about my #1 then you’re just wrong)
1. Tori- she is amazing in every way possible
2. Nick- we both had the same gay awakening at Pirates of the Caribbean
3. Oliver- no explanation needed for this one
4. Aled- i have been called the “quiet kid” because i sit alone reading or listening to music too much and for that ily Aled
5. Charlie- the body image/eating disorder issues were a little too relatable
6. Darcy- i love the chaotic lesbian energy
7. Tara- her being scared to come out was also too relatable
8. Tao- he is a good friend that looks out for Charlie (even tho he kinda outed him..)
9. Mr. Ajayi- literally the best teacher ever i wish i had a teacher like him
10. Imogen- she ✨is an ally✨ and she also supports Nick and does not deserve hate

tell me abt your ocs! :]
was saving this post for when i had a proper lore for my ocs and now i DO. i havent finished their refs yet so. u get phone doodles
Tumblr media
THIS IS MR SCIENCE. (he/him)
mr science is uhhh. erm. hes a scientist. mr science is a he/him lesbian, with a tragic backstory (his wife died) but its ok bc he has a pet rat.
his favoritest movie is willard but hes never actually seen the end of the movie and thinks willard and the rats are just friends forever and frolic and go lalala.
Mr science is the lead scientist for a lab i havent named yet . again his wife is dead. sad. his wife was like 90% of his impulse control. anyway he does UNETHICAL EXPERIMENTS and he does NOT realize theyre unethical. most relevant experiment is the next character
Tumblr media
this is darcy. (she/they)
she has the same name as darcy tpcai bc theyre technically the same person across diffrent universes but also i think im gonna grab the rest of my tpcai characters and put them in here dwbi.
anyway darcy is 12 years old and a scientist. how? easy. she IS the experiment. created by Mr Science with his and a few others dna, darcy is an artificial human with false memories created to test how quickly they could possibly make a worker built to do nothing but work. why is she 12? she was supposed to be older but then they figured well. child labor laws dont apply if theyre not technically human.
so darcy exists now and she Doesnt Know shes a clone but literally everyone else DOES and has to pretend otherwise (luckily mad scientists tend to be former theatre kids) and darcy is like. ooo im better than u cuz i graduated and got a job EARLY and her coworkers are like You Are A Product Of Capitalism and shes like pshh whatever. not knowing she is Quite Literally a product of capitalism.
Tumblr media
This is rodney. (they/them)
Rodney is a volunteer assistant at Unnamed Labs (ive decided thats just actually the name), and a party clown on the side. Theyre a retired circus clown. The token white person. Yes those are shoulder pads. Rodney doesnt get payed enough for this shit (they dont get payed anything). Rodney fucks hard and does it often. (theyre also a lesbian) Theyre only doing this job to impress Science, who they have a HUGE crush on.
To summarize everyones relationships,
Mr Science is Dumb and DOES NOT realize Rodney has a crush on him. To him, Rodney is just Some Guy. they have beers after work sometimes but only with other coworkers. Even if he did realize, hes not over his wife (who is dead) and things would get really awkward.
Mr Science was the head of the project creating Darcy, and now completely sees them as totally his daughter. PROBLEM IS. Darcy doesnt Realize he created her, they think they have loving parents back home, and Mr Science is just really weird about her being the youngest on the team (which. would be understandable shes 12 and the second youngest there is like 30)
Rodney isnt a fan of kids but they try their best around Darcy, and actually treats her the most as an equal out of everyone. Darcy would appreciate this, however shes busy BULLYING THE SHIT OUT OF RODNEY. for no reason. Darcy for the most part isnt a bad kid, a little edgy bc shes. 12. but shes not purposely antagonistic . EXCEPT TO RODNEY. when this poor little lesbo rolls around darcy activates their "middle school girl" instincts . its really sad.
ok thats all ty

What Didn’t Make It On The Resume
Ask literally anyone, and they’ll tell you I’m unemployed for the summer. Even if you’d asked me if I had a job this summer about 20 minutes ago, I would’ve told you the same thing with my head hung in defeat. But that was 20 minutes ago. Now, if you ask me if I have a job this summer, I would still say no, but with a little more enthusiasm. Why? Because idle time allows for reflection, and that’s all I’ve been doing. Reflecting on all the past jobs I’ve worked, odd and normal alike, to create a comprehensive list of all the jobs I’ve had that aren’t currently on my resume. And, of course, I’ll be giving them each overall numerical rankings to create a hierarchy, because I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t love a good hierarchy.
Babysitting: This was the gig that I really didn’t realize how good it was until is was gone. Up to then, the most money I’d ever had was from a summer I spent playing video games with children not much younger than me. They were my neighbors three doors down from me, and the kids were great, but those sweet, cash, and tax-free payments everyday was the best my career was going to get. That being said, kids age, making this job very unsustainable. 6/10
Grocery Bagger: This was my first “real” job, taken up while I was aspirational and hadn’t yet become bitter to my environment, AKA junior year of high school. I distinctly remember two things from this job: (1) I didn’t stay long enough to become upgraded from a lowly bagger to a real cashier, and (2) standing in the manager’s office in the middle of my shift being told, a quote I will remember verbatim for the rest of my life, “I know you’re still in school, but here, work comes before school.” I was 17. 3/10
Daycare Assistant: A couple years into college, I decided to blow the dust off my starkly low savings account and hit the gym to tone my babysitting muscles once again. This job was wild from start to finish. I got the job from a friend, who was a current employee and recommended the job to anyone she knew who tolerated young children. She told me to email her supervisor my resume and that I’d hear back from her likely by the end of the day to set up an interview. 30 minutes after sending that email, my friend’s (and now, my) supervisor replied asking if I could come in later that day to train and job security for me was back. I sat, I changed diapers, I attempted to answer unintentionally existential questions from 2 year olds. It was fun, until college decided to dial my workload up to 11 in virtually an hour and I had to go. 9/10
Retail: I don’t even need to go into detail for this one because it is a universally disliked experience, but I will. It was my most recent-unlisted job, and my worst. Like how Mr. Darcy had been bewitched (body and soul) by Elizabeth Bennet, retail has a special ability to drain both the body and the soul of all joy and prospects for a bright future. One form of this would be customers who entered the store angry, spiteful, and with the utmost preparedness to absolutely demolish someone’s day. However, nowadays people try to avoid sparking any interactions with strangers, so those customers would be forced to resort to the people forced to converse with them, employees. Terrible -72/10
A job is a job, they say. And it’s true. But so is time wasted. Based on my extensive research by the four jobs free from my resume, I can determine that I will, in fact, be okay this summer.
