steve only listens to like Kenny Loggins and shit so when robin introduces him to the gay music steve’s like “wtf is this.” and robin’s like “gay ppl music :)” and he’s like “but i’m not gay” and robin just maniacally laughs

dustin strictly listening to movie soundtracks and lucas constantly being like “bro broaden your horizons”

dustin just shoots back with “all u listen to is Kate Bush and The Temptations shut up” and lucas is like “i also like Earth Wind and Fire :(“ and dustin just goes “ur further proving my point”

What Eurovision 2021 taught us

1. That a nice, enjoyable show was possible (even if 4 presenters are still too much)

Of course nothing can beat Love Love Peace Peace (even if Ja Ja Ding Dong does its best), but this year's intermissions were very enjoyable.

We expected something flashy and over the top because hey, The Netherlands. Sex, drugs, gays and all that jazz.

But instead Covid surprised us. And then The Netherlands surprised us even more, by making a very enjoyable show, despite the restrictions. My personal favourites were:

The water intermission of the first semi-final. I loved the mixed feelings, how water is both scary and respected, for being such a powerful, unstoppable force.

The rooftop concerts during the final. Social distancing? Sure, no problem, let's make the past winners sing on top of some roofs all over Rotterdam. That was pure genius, I loved it so much.

On the other hand, the presenters were basically all useless. We could've had just two of them instead of four. But hey, at least they weren't as cringy as the three scary ukranians from 2017 or the useless four ladies from Portugal. The true highlights of the show were the intermissions, the guests and especially the songs themselves and this is perfectly good for me.

2. That we can live in a world without boring ass ballads

I’ve never been so proud of the Eurovision public, especially during the second semifinal: that evening was PACKED with ballads. Boring ballad after boring ballad, with just a couple more funny songs in between.

The ballads were all left behind. Even the two Amen. And I love the irony we chose El Diablo and the finnish band for the final, but no Amen. No saints allowed, only the norwegian angel. As it always should be.

And so we had the best final I've seen since I started following Eurovision in 2014. Catchy songs, dance songs, upbeat songs. And power ballads. Yes, ballads can still have a place, but only if they're good.

Because yes, Switzerland and France were good. Very good. Just not as good as the ones the public wanted.

3. That we want Eurovision, not Englishvision

Every year, the same message blasts from all Europeans: send a song in your native language. This show is supposed to make other people from Europe (and the rest of the world) to know more about your own country, to enjoy its rhythm and to listen to something we don't usually hear. So why waste this huge opportunity, to bring a generic song in English?

Because the English song wins. Because we all understand English, so English has more chances.

Flash news: GUESS WHO WON THIS YEAR. No, it’s not the generic English song.

The public has been crystal clear, the final poll is even clearer: the top five includes an italian song, an ukraine song, two french songs and only one english song. We want different styles and rhythms, we want to listen to Europe.

So I want to give my full thank you to:

Albania: amazing song, great voice, wonderful language. Do it again.

Serbia: these ladies are fantastic, their song is great and they sang it in their language so I love them

Switzerland: thank you for leaving English to the side to give us some good french

Spain: the song wasn't as good as Universo, but it was in sexy spanish, so thank you for using it almost every year

Danemark: the song was terrible, but it was in your language and this alone deserves everything

France: I know we all make fun of you for being France, but your language is perfect for songs, so thank you for always using it

Ukraine: take note, Ukraine, because Europe is madly in love with your language and your rhythm

Italy: our language is beautiful, so thank you for delivering every year

While my biggest biases go to:

Greece: a generic pop song with no balkan rhythm and no greek either? An absolute shame, greek should always be used for songs.

Russia: russian language is very melodious and yes, we got something this year, but what about bringing a full russian song? We want it!

Germany: I may sound crazy, but I honestly think german language is good for songs. It's not like the mediterranean languages, but it still works. So please, do not be scared and show what you can do with it!

Scandinavian countries: why do you never want to bring your own language? Do it, don't be scared! Yes, Sweden, I'm talking with you: you still never tried to bring something in swedish, so do it.

4. That we don't want Americans to play with us

For reasons we still have to understand, Flo Rida was competing this year. And he was competing for San Marino, the smallest European country.

I'm pretty sure they took some time to explain to him what was going on, where he was, where San Marino is, wtf was happening, why there were sexy italians and ukranian witches and a norwegian angel and loads of beautiful women everywhere.

And I loved how we all send memes about this, about ahahah why is Flo Rida here, what if San Marino wins where would they host Eurovision, all while enjoying an actual catchy song.

And then, in the end, Flo Rida basically disappeared. Who remembers Flo Rida, when we got Ukraine, Italy, Finland, Iceland, and the UK? And Germany being wholesome? And the love story between Norway and Azerbaijan? We collectively forgot about him and I think it's very sexy from Europe to just say "nope" and push America away, even if for just one week.

And this isn't the first time: we basically showed Madonna in a corner in 2019, thanks to Mans, Eleni, Verka and Conchita. Once again, Europeans knows what they want: we don't want Americans. Australia can because they're like that little brother we took under our wing for no reason and now it's part of us. But not Americans.

The rest of the year is all yours, but one week is ours.

5. That we can lose like bosses

This year, the voting results have been absolutely insane and FOUR COUNTRIES got zero points from the public, while the UK got both zero points from the public AND the jury.

Don't get me wrong, the song was bad. And yes, Brexit played a role in this. And yes, hating England is Europe’s favourite sport.

But can we please all take a moment and appreciate how James Newman reacted? The public gave him a round of applause and he celebrated this achievement like a boss.

And he had all the reasons! He achieved something incredible, he unlocked something that this new voting system was supposed to never lead to. But he did it. So hats off to you, my boy: My Last Breath was better.

Germany is also used to the bottom of the chart, but this year I really thought Jendrik could have a chance to achieve a higher position. The song was funny, carefree, lively, the hand costume was the kind of trash we need and the message was nice as well. But he still got 3 points.

Despite that, Jendrik celebrated like a maniac and seeing his this happy made me happy as well. I really wish him the best.

6. That FUCK YOU JURY

Again, same message every year: the jury vote should be eliminated. It's a fucking farce and their votes have nothing to do with what the public want.

The jury focuses on the voices, except when they don't, and clearly giving points to your neighbours is because you like the song, not because they're your neighbours.

I usually make fun of Greece and Cyprus showing eternal love to each other, by giving 12 points to each other every year, but this time, it sounded even more stupid than usual. It really looked like a farce. Why should we see this farce? Why can't we just choose what the public wants? So at least we would blame ourselves for our shitty musical tastes.

Even if I'm pretty sure we all have great musical tastes. Let's not forget that in 2019 the public's winner was Norway, with a song that mixed english, a catchy rhythm and an amazing part in yoik language. Arcade is good as well, but we cannot deny the norwegian entry was a lot more interesting.

And this year, the public's taste was flawless:

Look at this beauty: italian glam rock, ukranian techno folk, french powerful ballad, finnish hard rock and whatever that thing was with Iceland.

There's variety, there's everything for everyone. And there are native languages. Italian, Ukranian, and French on top three, followed by English.

Moral of the story: the public is great and the jury should be abolished forever.

7. That Ukranian technofolk is all we needed in our lives

I didn’t see enough love for Go_A, so as italian, I think it's my sworn duty to give my appreciation to them and their amazing entry, because this band is awesome and Shum is currently on top of the Spotify top 50 - as it should be, because everyone should listen to it and join this slavic rave party.

I already liked their entry for 2020, Solovey. But I also liked My Last Breath from the UK and Universo from Spain. And this year they brought two of the worst songs. So I was very wary of Go_A.

But Shum is an absolute blast. Katerina Pavlenko's voice is unique and the song is even more, because based on ukranian folklore and traditional dances to summon the spirit of spring. They managed to teach something to all Europe in a three minute song and I think that’s incredibly sexy of them.

And so, I searched for other songs and OMG, I don’t know how it’s possible, but they are all great. Rano-Ranenko, Zhalmenina, Tanula, they all are perfect and I’m in love with this band.

And if all of this is not enough, THEY DID A COVER OF DANCING LASHA TUMBAI. The most iconic Eurovision song, sang by our god Verka. And this is the coolest, most badass cover ever in the whole universe. Please listen to it HERE everyone needs to hear this.

So thank you, Ukraine, for giving us Go_A. We all had a small empty place in our hearts and this place has ben perfectly filled by them.

And yif you think you don’t need ukranian technofolk, is only because you still haven’t listened to it. Please listen and enjoy Shum. You’re welcome.

8. That rock and roll never dies (and Italy’s well deserved victory)

The last time Italy won was in 19-fucking-90. 31 years ago. I was just born.

And now, they finally won again. And what a song! Despite being italian, I've never listened to Maneskin before, but oh damn, this song is good. Not all their songs are, but this one is. And also Morirò da re.

Their show was perfect as well. This post is really eye-opening about how well they put on their show. The use of the stage, the movements, everything has been part of a great performance, even their clothes. Damiano's voice never faltered, despite having an entire continent watching him. They handled the stage like bosses, despite being only in their twenties. And they gave us some good fucking rock.

And so the public said a loud "FUCK YOU" to the jury and chose its winners. The sassy, sexy italians.

And yes, I know that there has been a lot of petty polemics because those youngsters are having drugs!1!! as if they were a bunch of idiots who used drugs on international TV, with their manager sitting next to them.

Of course it was a pointless accusation and honestly I don't care if some people are sore losers. The drug results were negative anyway, what a shocker.

What we should truly think about is how strong the Maneskin's bladders are, because they spent the whole evening of the final drinking the entire alcohol supply of the Eurovision and, at the end, they were still happy and cool. Hats off to you, you sexy people.

This man is just iconic, why did I miss him before.

Also, have some more Maneskin. You know, as a treat.

9. That solidarity and wholesomeness are the biggest winners

It's just beautiful to see these nice people, from all over Europe, bonding, having fun, taking photos together and being friends.

The true winner of this, is probably Norway: Tix wanted to have a good time and he had a good time. The video of him vibing with Ukraine and Germany while listening Hard Rock Hallelujah is the best (HERE). His love story with Efendi from Azerbaijan is even better (please, check the video on his youtube channel, it's hilarious). I don't like his song, but he's a great guy and deserves everything.

The italian and finnish rock relationship is also great. Maneskin and Dark Sides found each other, considering they were the only two rock bands in the competition, so mutual appreciation was inevitable.

But Damiano is also a man of culture and he appreciates Ukraine's entry. And Ukraine appreciates both Finland and Italy. Is this what world peace looks like? Because I love it.

10. That Italians will be Europe's clowns again (and you're all allowed to make fun of us)

Beware, Europe: we Italians are messy and chaotic, our presenters don’t know a single word in English, we are homoerotic AND homophobic at the same time, our musical competitions are so fucking sloooow... let’s say next year’s Eurovision is going to be interesting.

And yes, you’re allowed to make fun of us. We don’t care, we won, so we deserve to be Europe’s clowns once again.

And I don’t know who the presenters will be (my bets are on everyone’s favourites: Fiorello, Amadeus and Malgioglio), I don’t know how we will ridicule ourselves once again, I don’t know where will we find the money to put on the show, I don’t know how ungodly long it will be... but I know that Mans Zelmerlow will be part of it. This man loves Eurovision just like all of us, so I can already see him packing his suitcase and planning his flight to Italy. Come to us, Mans, we will wait for you. We actually need an English presenter, so if you have nothing else to do...

The Rodent Siblings Headcannons 🏍️🌺

Side note: I'm covering Lela and Butchy in one post Because a ton of my hc's for them have to do with each other

- Lela and Butchy's last name means Rodent [I go with Roditore cause i think they are Italian American] and they where called the Rodent kids\siblings well before there was a Rodents social Club

- They both also will tell you ant of the other Rodents are also honorary Rodent Siblings, they're Rodents anyways after all

- Butchy's soft spot for Lela is immensely deep, he'd walk to the ends of the earth for her, he even does things like pick up extra chores around the house and give her pocket change when he has any

- Lela has an equally deep soft spot for her brother, most of the time when Butchy over loads himself or needs any kind of rest she'll be right there to get him a drink and help out, or even put her foot down and make him go take a nap

- They never had their parents around as kids [both died when they where young] so they've taken to parenting eachother when needed, Butchy often puts more pressure on himself to be the mature parent of the two but Lela can and will hold her ground and tell him to go to bed or sit him down to talk

- They are Both Trans and Gay they deserve it

- the gay part took a bit for them to figure out but when they where little little they constantly would steal each other's clothes and more gendered belongings and eventually they just started going by there preferred genders and names and no one questioned it [them being silent\sandwich generation kids this would make total sense with attitudes at the time]

- Lela specifically is a Bi Trans Woman with leanings towards dating women, but she's also still VERY MUCH into looking at cute boys any day of the week

- Butchy specifically is a GayAce Trans Man who's also definitely on the Aro spectrum, he does have very strong queer platonic attraction but that one's hard to explain to other guys in the 60s

- Not a single Rodent would dare try and date Lela unless of course she was the one who took the first steps. Butchy can, will, and has gotten into fights over people looking at her too long for his own taste [he broke Lugnut's nose once over him offering her a unprompted jacket when she was cold. Everyone is surprised Tanner never turned up dead]

- Butchy has 100% given the worst dating advice you've ever heard to folks who ask, he forgets hes not Allo and it basically just turns into "Dump him\her" or "Ew wtf why do you want to do THAT" ['that' being something completely normal for allo's, like necking or second base]

- Lela and Butchy routinely skip church to see movies at the nickelodeon, they both love musicals and bad sci-fi movies

- Butchy is a Gene Kelly and Bing Crosby simp when it comes to picking movies, Lela will watch anything with Audrey Hepburn or Elizabeth Taylor, they both will watch a Fred Astaire movie no questions asked

- Butchy and Lela both did etiquette classes as kids and they both hated it, they still 100% subconsciously follow some of the more drilled in things like setting a table properly or manners when it comes to dancing

- Butchy makes dinner, and breakfast, and lunch, and snacks... He picked up cooking when he was little and he just never stopped, it also helps feed his "take care of my sister" instincts

- More on home life, Butchy dropped out of highschool pretty early and got a job and help pay bills, he refuses to let Lela drop out or get bad grades [but he's also never mean about it, he's kept up on 'school' to help her with homework and know what's going on with her]

- Butchy and Lela are Catholic Twins, they where close enough in age that they held Butchy back from going to school a year and the two went together

- there is a two month span every year where Lela and Butchy are the same age and Lela bully's him about it

- Lela wants to be a singer more than anything. Butchy wants her to go to college, he's been saving for it for years. They've never once just sat down and said that to each other so Lela thinks she's going to have to work through college to please him and Butchy thinks that she's very happy to go and have the help. They are both very dumb

- I have such an indpeth family arrangement for these two in my head but the basics is they live with their grandfather who is a disabled WW1 vet, they are fairly poor but they get by, they have a couple family members who they aren't that close with who aren't really around so the three function as a happy little unit

- If Butchy was an inch shorter he wouldn't be able to ride his 1950 Harley-Davidson Panhead, he refuses to acknowledge this, he also has a attachable sidecar Incase he needs to transport things or a person since he refuses to get or be in a car

- Lela built her bike, it's a very slick chopper built out of a Kawasaki W1 and Honda CB77, it is her absolute baby not even Butchy is aloud to drive it

- Because Butchy and Lela have shared a Jack and Jill bathroom from a young age they 100% are unphased by basically everything with each other. One could be showering and the other will open the door without knocking and ask a question. Around the house with just a robe? Sure. "Hey can I borrow your toothbrush" "how did you loose a toothbrush, but sure"

- Yes they are exceedingly gross, its just siblings things™. They share drinks, hair brushes, wipe dirt onto each other's clothes, "hey this is awful, try this", share a fork. Neither of them know what personal space or boundaries are

- they get into fist fights sometimes, not cause they are actually fighting but just because they're bored and they can

- Butchy takes care of the garden, he loves it

- Lela hates gardening, she kills everything she touches, but she has to help because if Butchy has to deal with a weird bug he will cry

- Butchy cries a lot especially around Lela, he's very sensitive and in touch with how he feels, the only time he'll bottle something up is if it has to do with feeling like he's not enough to take care of the people he loves

- Lela is the one that tends to bottle up how she feels, though she's mostly very honest with Butchy, she tends to try and be a people pleaser or yes man to everyone else to the point of getting herself in trouble

- Butchy is dyslexic and wears reading glasses, it's part of why he dropped out beyond needing a job, Lela is very hyperactive and struggles in school due to it, they are both Autistic because I said so

- and finally; Butchy doesn't celebrate his birthday, it's just not something he cares about, but Lela makes him his favorite cake and they have a nice night in every year, Butchy loves it. In contrast Butchy throws Lela a party every year for hers, she love it

so i’m having some Thoughts™ about that phone call in 15.19

mostly along the lines of...why?? why was it necessary? it’s a cruel joke played by lucifer on dean and it’s a cruel joke made by the writers to the audience. it reminds us that lucifer is a dick, which we already knew, and that cas is really dead, which we already knew. story-wise, it doesn’t really add much.

BUT

sometimes i forget that there are casual viewers who are not obsessed with shipping and meta and just watch the show and enjoy it on the surface. if you were one of those casual viewers, then you might have thought “man, sometimes dean and cas are pretty gay” and then dismissed it. cas’ confession in 15.18 might have surprised you, but because you liked cas and presumably didn’t want him to be miserable, you might have been shouting for dean to say something back. when cas instead got yeeted to the empty, you would have been disappointed, and probably more invested in the destiel storyline because dean has to say something back/how does dean feel about this????

now, enter the phone call. as an audience member, you know that the person on the other end of the line is not cas. but for a hot second, you HOPED it was. the music swelled and dean ran to the door and you had a thought of “gee, really hope that’s cas so they can reconnect” or “man, dean’s going to finally say something to cas” and then dean opened the door to find lucifer, and you thought “man WTF, that was a dirty trick!” but you also REALLY want to see cas now. your interest has been piqued by this almost/maybe taste of cas. for a second, you thought dean was going to get to see cas and now you REALLY want him to see cas so that you can finally see what he’s going to say when he does.

that phone call was setting up the general audience for a potential reunion or at least a moment where dean addresses how he feels about cas’ confession. there’s still a giant ?????? around that scene because when one character says “i love you” to another, you really want to hear what the other character has to say about it! and that little teaser invested you in cas’ return all over again! it makes the general audience want it just as badly as the shippers because they ALMOST had it and now they want it more!

at least that’s my spec. it’s entirely possible that i’m booboo the fool on this one, but who knows???

Anime/Manga I have binged in the last month:

ANIME:

Fire Force: I had no idea that the same mangaka who did SOUL EATER was the same guy who did this one. Honestly, not as aesthetic, but more stylish. 9/10

The Ancient Magus Bride: I've had this queued for years and finally got around to it. LORD THAT DARK TWIST WENT DEEP???? Really good tho, fills my monster romancer heart with glee. 7.5/10

Jujutsu Kaisen: I've read the manga, but the anime is that tiny bit different that makes it still fun for me to watch. Animation is BEAUTIFUL and ngl, I don't know how they did it but I was pretty luke warm about Megumi in the manga but in the anime I LOVE HIM 10/10

Demon Slayer Mugen Train: technically not a series but still counts. Loved it, animation was STELLAR except for some weird cgi, music was HYPED and ngl, Rengoku is still my favorite Hashira. 9/10

This Boy is a Professional Wizard: THE ART STYLE IS SO GORGEOUS?????? HOLY SHIT????? Super duper short, only 4 episodes at 7minutes a piece but honestly really cute with a love story I can relate to (a rarity). Its gay if that sweetens the pot! 7.5/10

Doctor Stone 1&2: BRO FUCK HYOUGA BUT I ENDED UP REALLY LOVING TSUKASA ANS SENKU????? MAN WTF. Anyways, SPECTACULAR storyline, real science, banger playlists on youtube no lie, and the soundtrack is AMAZING. That being said I hate how every single female character is drawn like that. Then i found out the mangaka drew hentai before Dr. Stone and everything made so much more sense. 10/10

MANGA:

I forgot the name but a Spider/Priest Yaoi with honestly some solid artwork. 8/10. Throw not the first stone he who has not sinned - some dead guy.

I Tell C: a newer manga but honestly pretty interesting with some solid art. Imagine if one of those True Crime Junkies who puts flower crowns on serial killers suddenly teamed up with a detective. Ta-da, this manga. 7/10 because was just not my taste up to like chapter 9, but interesting concept enough to have a stalker stalk the criminals ngl. Give it a shot and stick it out for the first ten chaps or so, I get the feeling it'll really straighten up here soon.

Juni Taisen (Zodiac Wars): apparently based off an anime that was based off a light novel. Predictable but I like the psycho rabbit. Pretty meh tbh. 5/10

22. a song you related to in the past and present, but for different reasons

Okay this one is interesting and honestly I'm not sure. The first one I thought of was "blame it on the rain" -he is we (again) but like technically relate to it for similar reasons.

Okay this one is actually hard to answer. Like most of the songs I realted to when I was younger I still do and for the same reasons. I'm literally scrolling through my music being like "okay related to that one, and yup same reasons as before so that doesn't count."

So two that I will accept as "different." First song is "The Grey" -icon for hire. Found that song/band in my really bad suicidal time of my life and that whole song is about that basically. It's about being on the edge between giving up and fighting hence 'the grey.' So back then I related a lot to the giving up portions (not gonna lie still do sometimes I'm still not in a good place mentally. Doing better but ya know.) But I would say now I relate a little more to the not giving up parts of the song, where it's about wanting to fight and survive.

The other song would be "For Good" from wicked. I relate to it with my best friend I wouldn't be where I am today without her. But it was also my senior song for choir so I relate it to my whole choir more now, but also my new friends too. I've been able to become independent because of you guys and so that song makes me think of y'all now too 💖💖
